Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Inside the Birds is back. What's going on, everybody? It's
- 0:15Speaker 1: Jeff Mosher and Adam Kaplan. Welcome to the first Inside
- 0:18Speaker 1: the Birds podcast of the offseason. And it's not a
- 0:22Speaker 1: slow news day. It never is with the Eagles. We're
- 0:25Speaker 1: just a few days removed from the Eagles losing in
- 0:28Speaker 1: the wild Card round at home to the forty nine Ers,
- 0:30Speaker 1: and already Adam Kevin Patullo has been relieved of his
- 0:34Speaker 1: offensive coordinator duties and the Eagles will be searching for
- 0:37Speaker 1: their next offensive coordinator. Certainly, none of this is a surprise.
- 0:41Speaker 1: I know you weren't surprised, and I'm not surprised, and
- 0:42Speaker 1: I don't think too many people are surprised. But it
- 0:45Speaker 1: is another year and yet another offensive coordinator for the
- 0:48Speaker 1: team and for Jalen Hurts.
- 0:49Speaker 2: I mean I expected it with three or four games
- 0:51Speaker 2: of from like I just know, and you know the
- 0:53Speaker 2: way things are in that building. It's about offense. It
- 0:55Speaker 2: has been it always will be with that owner, and
- 0:59Speaker 2: they should so. I can you imagine Nick going to
- 1:02Speaker 2: his end of the season meeting with Jeffrey and saying, Hey,
- 1:03Speaker 2: you know what, I think we need to give Kevin
- 1:06Speaker 2: another another year.
- 1:08Speaker 1: That wasn't gonna happen.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Yeah, so it No, it would have been the biggest
- 1:12Speaker 2: upsets of our nine years. This is year nine, yep,
- 1:15Speaker 2: just season. This will be your nine the biggest, probably
- 1:17Speaker 2: the biggest surprise in our are then Darius Slade the Eagles,
- 1:20Speaker 2: uh telling slave is going to be cut in five
- 1:22Speaker 2: hours later to his extension, that was certainly that was
- 1:25Speaker 2: the biggest shock. This would be a number two of
- 1:27Speaker 2: Patula's back, its offense coordinator.
- 1:28Speaker 1: So anyway, yeah, yeah, I have tongue in cheek, you know, me,
- 1:32Speaker 1: I have I have tongue in cheek, you know. Sort
- 1:36Speaker 1: of semi criticized the Eagles in the past as being
- 1:39Speaker 1: one of the only NFL franchises that routinely hires and
- 1:43Speaker 1: fire or fires coaches in years that they make the playoffs.
- 1:47Speaker 1: But this time, I think we saw it coming and
- 1:49Speaker 1: it was. It's totally fair this one. I don't there's
- 1:51Speaker 1: no tongue in cheek.
- 1:52Speaker 2: There's no thinking. Dude. Everyone their mother saw it coming
- 1:55Speaker 2: exactly exactly. It didn't work. Like, let's get serious for
- 1:58Speaker 2: a second. It never worked. Okay, I understand why Nick
- 2:02Speaker 2: did it because I know people don't like this, but
- 2:06Speaker 2: it was about continuity. Yeah, because Nick. Nick's not going
- 2:09Speaker 2: to do somebody a favor here. He thought he could
- 2:11Speaker 2: do the job. Okay, he was wrong, right, he was
- 2:14Speaker 2: a major miss. Yes, there's significant challenges. Coaching hurts a
- 2:19Speaker 2: schematic standpoint, coaching is about giving a guy what you
- 2:22Speaker 2: think he could handle. But it just was a disaster.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Then they had some improvement, and then it were gresh again,
- 2:33Speaker 2: well below the bean whatever the mean would be, it
- 2:35Speaker 2: was below it, and then you would get situations where
- 2:40Speaker 2: you'd say, why could they not have a good second half?
- 2:44Speaker 2: Every metric is obvious. You are your arts for plays
- 2:50Speaker 2: an interesting metric, it's legitimate. All teams use it. But
- 2:52Speaker 2: you always have to have context, right. You know, hitting
- 2:56Speaker 2: on two random deep plays in one game can make
- 3:00Speaker 2: the archs play go bigger because you go up. But
- 3:03Speaker 2: if you take it to a tide of if you
- 3:05Speaker 2: just go break up. By coaching tape, which is the
- 3:07Speaker 2: number one criteria for evaluation, no one who works in
- 3:09Speaker 2: the NFL would argue that it's about tape first. Numbers
- 3:13Speaker 2: to take away or support it, you can do that,
- 3:16Speaker 2: but the scheme, as we've said throughout this season, really
- 3:19Speaker 2: the last three years, not only did it get exposed.
- 3:22Speaker 2: It's the worst offense scheme of the National Football League.
- 3:24Speaker 2: I will state that if the cows could ever come home,
- 3:28Speaker 2: I'm going to continue to state that it's.
- 3:30Speaker 1: An embarrassing three and outs. I think that you're saying, yeah,
- 3:34Speaker 1: it's it's embarrassing.
- 3:37Speaker 2: And I know we're gonna talk more about this next
- 3:38Speaker 2: week because we're going to go inside, Like this show
- 3:41Speaker 2: today is more about the offensive coordinators out there who
- 3:45Speaker 2: would fit. But we're gonna get have an all season
- 3:48Speaker 2: plan for the Eagles. I cannot wait. Already have like
- 3:50Speaker 2: ten things, a lot some stuff we've not talked about
- 3:52Speaker 2: before that people have greated. The tape brought up to
- 3:55Speaker 2: me and one was like, why did we not think
- 3:57Speaker 2: of this? That's one of those things like seemed obvious,
- 3:59Speaker 2: but hey, thank you. But anyway, so Nick has gotta
- 4:04Speaker 2: have a come to see her Annie talk with himself.
- 4:08Speaker 2: This thing is bad. I don't you know whatever his
- 4:11Speaker 2: plan was when he came into twenty one and maybe
- 4:15Speaker 2: was scrapped, Maybe he dialed down a little bit because
- 4:18Speaker 2: Jalen was a young quarterback. Herts has been in the
- 4:22Speaker 2: NFL long enough. Now it's not it's now time to
- 4:24Speaker 2: have real NFL offense, Yeah, Greg said, greg O Sel said,
- 4:29Speaker 2: when do you get it can't be elementary anymore. You
- 4:31Speaker 2: got to you got to move to the twentieth century here, Yeah.
- 4:34Speaker 1: You gotta graduate. Teams are game downing against you. They're
- 4:36Speaker 1: taking away some things you did well, and I agree
- 4:39Speaker 1: with that. I think a lot of people feel that way.
- 4:41Speaker 1: I don't know, and I'm very curious to find out.
- 4:44Speaker 1: And it makes it difficult to talk about coordinators. Where
- 4:47Speaker 1: the Eagles are, you know, we're recording this. Really it's
- 4:50Speaker 1: just three days after they lost the game that they
- 4:53Speaker 1: thought they were gonna win. I mean, they thought they
- 4:55Speaker 1: were gonna be preparing for either going to Chicago or
- 4:57Speaker 1: hosting another team right now. So I would love to know,
- 5:00Speaker 1: like how much thought Adam that Nick Sirianni, because I
- 5:04Speaker 1: think you're you're phrasing this really well. He needs to
- 5:07Speaker 1: have a come to Sirianni moment and figure out, like
- 5:10Speaker 1: the forks go, he's at the crossroads here do I do?
- 5:14Speaker 1: I do what I've done in the past and just
- 5:15Speaker 1: try to make it a little bit better, like he
- 5:17Speaker 1: did two years ago when he hired Kellen Moore and
- 5:20Speaker 1: then Kellen Moore eventually just ran his scheme, right or
- 5:24Speaker 1: is it time?
- 5:25Speaker 2: No, he really didn't brought more concepts, he didn't run
- 5:28Speaker 2: I don't agree with that.
- 5:29Speaker 1: No, I'm saying he ran Nick Sirianni's scheme.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Yeske scheme.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Okay, we've been doing this too long to know, you know?
- 5:37Speaker 1: Or does or does Nick Sirianni go the other out,
- 5:42Speaker 1: which is a radical redesign where you hire an offensive
- 5:46Speaker 1: coordinator that you really like and you let him run
- 5:48Speaker 1: his offense no matter what. But let may I remind
- 5:51Speaker 1: you though, because we've had this conversation and I'm going
- 5:53Speaker 1: to bring it to the public, it's we're all at
- 5:56Speaker 1: that level, like you got to graduate and go the
- 5:58Speaker 1: other way. A head coach is a double down kind
- 6:00Speaker 1: of guy. Any coach is, and Nick Siriani very easily
- 6:04Speaker 1: could look and say, I've in my doing it my
- 6:08Speaker 1: way in this way. It may not look pretty, but
- 6:10Speaker 1: we win seventy to eighty percent of our games in
- 6:12Speaker 1: the playoffs every year with double digit wins, two division titles,
- 6:15Speaker 1: two Super Bowls, one Super Bowl championship. All I gotta
- 6:19Speaker 1: do is find a guy who's a little bit better
- 6:21Speaker 1: and correct some of the things so that's why I
- 6:23Speaker 1: don't think you and I to you and I it's easy.
- 6:25Speaker 1: You got to graduate this thing. I don't know that
- 6:28Speaker 1: the Eagles and he might feel this way. And so
- 6:30Speaker 1: I'm curious because when you listen to him talk and
- 6:34Speaker 1: if you get a little behind the scenes on hard knocks,
- 6:37Speaker 1: he constantly just talks about doubling down, believing. What got
- 6:40Speaker 1: you there and what got him there has not been
- 6:43Speaker 1: the prettiest way, but it's.
- 6:44Speaker 2: It got him out of there too. It got him
- 6:46Speaker 2: out of there because it could, but it got there though.
- 6:49Speaker 2: It got them off, but it got them out of
- 6:52Speaker 2: the playoffs early, because if you just look at the
- 6:54Speaker 2: fourth and eleven, Okay, it's just it's I just so,
- 7:01Speaker 2: I don't know if I told you. So. I was
- 7:02Speaker 2: texted with some coaches who were at well then I
- 7:04Speaker 2: out of work there. Their teams are out of the playoffs, right,
- 7:06Speaker 2: So I just asked, hey, you're watching this game? One
- 7:08Speaker 2: guy said I what he was He's like, you're really
- 7:11Speaker 2: running four verts against against quarters coverage really without any help,
- 7:19Speaker 2: no stress routes, No, there there were there were no
- 7:22Speaker 2: they're called hinges. In fact, it's funny because I have
- 7:25Speaker 2: someone sent me the link of Nick Foles. But Nick
- 7:27Speaker 2: Foles is a great podcast. By the way, he is
- 7:29Speaker 2: really good. We should look to get Nick on with
- 7:32Speaker 2: this guy they seem is more. He was undrafted tight
- 7:36Speaker 2: end who's really strong. By the way, this guy more,
- 7:38Speaker 2: I don't I it might have been Nick Moore, so
- 7:40Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know what his first name was,
- 7:42Speaker 2: but you know he played for the Browns. But anyway, uh,
- 7:46Speaker 2: what kind of offensive scheme on I'm not saying fourth
- 7:50Speaker 2: and eleven is easy, but it's so obvious against a
- 7:53Speaker 2: coverage which you have to have. It's elementary. Like it's embarrassing.
- 7:58Speaker 2: This is this is coaching malfeesis what you could call
- 8:03Speaker 2: whatever you want. It's embarrassing. Nick has been in the
- 8:05Speaker 2: league a long time. I just as I told you Tuesday,
- 8:10Speaker 2: as I told you, excuse me, Wednesday afternoon, you and
- 8:12Speaker 2: I had you and I had a chat before Verizon
- 8:15Speaker 2: went down, and I said, dude, it's time to blow
- 8:19Speaker 2: it up. Give me no offense and offense coordinator the keys,
- 8:23Speaker 2: and that's gonna work. We're gonna go and we're gonna
- 8:26Speaker 2: get this started a minute here. But as you were
- 8:29Speaker 2: alluding to the latter is the thing. Give the keys up.
- 8:33Speaker 2: He never gave the keys to Kellen Moore. Kellen had
- 8:36Speaker 2: added some of his concepts. That's absolutely true because it
- 8:38Speaker 2: chosen the coaching tape from twenty twenty four. But the
- 8:41Speaker 2: passing game was bleep bleep for two and a half months.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Fourth worst in the NFL. That's what's fourth fourth worst
- 8:49Speaker 1: passing game in the year that they won the Super Bowl.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Yep, it mostly terrible. Okay. I saved that Pittsburgh game,
- 8:54Speaker 2: which is like where the hell that comes from, and
- 8:56Speaker 2: a little bit in the second half. But again, as
- 8:59Speaker 2: long as hers is the quarter back, he's got to
- 9:01Speaker 2: be coached harder. You got to be more demanding of them.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I've never been a defender of hers. I just think
- 9:09Speaker 2: some of the criticisms way out of line and over
- 9:11Speaker 2: the top if you're basically on coaching tape. Yes, there's
- 9:16Speaker 2: a lot that's inexcusable. We've mentioned it. I don't know
- 9:19Speaker 2: how many times he moves unnecessarily he destroys the progression.
- 9:22Speaker 2: But I'll say this again, it's started that Charger game.
- 9:25Speaker 2: I know people can't get past the four turnovers, the
- 9:29Speaker 2: double turnover in the same play, but watch when he
- 9:32Speaker 2: threw the ball over the middle. He made the best
- 9:33Speaker 2: throw of his career in that Charger game. He made
- 9:36Speaker 2: selected And we went to the Viking game before that,
- 9:39Speaker 2: earlier in the season past the Brown he actually had
- 9:42Speaker 2: made some great throws in that game. We know overall
- 9:45Speaker 2: the tape shows this from five years. He typically does
- 9:48Speaker 2: not like to throw the ball inside of the numbers,
- 9:50Speaker 2: but there are some throws if you isolate it in
- 9:52Speaker 2: the final quarter or so of the season. Build on that.
- 9:56Speaker 2: He's built his confidence. Whatever approach they're taking. I don't
- 10:00Speaker 2: know Scott Lefler, and I've talked to people of coach
- 10:02Speaker 2: with him. He's a type a guy. Now I'm not
- 10:04Speaker 2: saying he hasn't challenge. If you see him on hard knocks,
- 10:06Speaker 2: they have very little snip bets. He's he's you know,
- 10:09Speaker 2: he's a good fine coach from what I've been told.
- 10:13Speaker 2: But overall the process from Nick Sirian, he's got to change. Clearly,
- 10:17Speaker 2: there's something missing that they have to get more at.
- 10:21Speaker 2: As long as it hurts us the quarterback, it's unacceptable.
- 10:24Speaker 2: At our Patreon, folks keep bringing it up. I know
- 10:27Speaker 2: Frank's brought it up. If you're watching this, I'm with you, dude.
- 10:30Speaker 2: You got aj Brown least for now, Dallas got her
- 10:33Speaker 2: had a career, and DeVante Smith. You can't have a
- 10:35Speaker 2: top ten passing offense. So yeah, you're bleep in mind.
- 10:37Speaker 2: It's embarrassing, absolutely unacceptable. This is the part about Jeffrey.
- 10:41Speaker 2: I like, he wants that world class offense. What other
- 10:46Speaker 2: owner demands this?
- 10:48Speaker 1: I mean, he's one other owner is willing to manipulate
- 10:50Speaker 1: the cap and pay all that upfront money and take
- 10:53Speaker 1: a lot of dead cap hits each year because he's
- 10:56Speaker 1: paying for now and he's putting out more money than
- 10:58Speaker 1: anybody else for an all.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Speaking of that, I was shot. Charlandatta was our guest
- 11:03Speaker 2: with Andrew and I for do the BCB. We actually
- 11:05Speaker 2: he brought it up. It was real. I can't folks listen.
- 11:10Speaker 2: It's great. And he because we were talking about the
- 11:12Speaker 2: off season and Egles have a lot of free agents
- 11:14Speaker 2: because you know how the Eagles do it. It's not
- 11:17Speaker 2: that the cap numbers will be high, but the cap
- 11:20Speaker 2: numbers will be here if you're watching on YouTube, but
- 11:22Speaker 2: the real cash is way up here. It's cash versus
- 11:25Speaker 2: cap of course. And I just I was like, wow,
- 11:27Speaker 2: you even know that seun. Wow, Okay, that's pretty cool
- 11:31Speaker 2: and it's a great show. He has this unbelievable story.
- 11:35Speaker 2: But Donald mcnabbt, I'm not giving it away. If you
- 11:37Speaker 2: haven't heard it, you did not hear it yet? Did
- 11:39Speaker 2: you hear it yet?
- 11:40Speaker 1: I did not. It is up on the podcast latform.
- 11:42Speaker 1: I put it up quickly, so I have to go
- 11:44Speaker 1: back and listen.
- 11:44Speaker 2: All right, that's it. You're never gonna get it. You
- 11:48Speaker 2: may get part of it, but you'll never get the
- 11:49Speaker 2: real story. My hair was on fire when he told it. Good.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Oh, can't wait, great plug, that's awesome. But no, yeah,
- 11:56Speaker 1: so I'm I agree with you. I would. I think
- 11:59Speaker 1: it needs to be done. I just don't know that.
- 12:01Speaker 1: I believe Nick Siriani is totally convinced.
- 12:04Speaker 2: And even if he feels Baron, I'm not.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Well, let's say let's say, just like with Kellen, that
- 12:10Speaker 1: he brings in a guy, gives him the keys, but
- 12:11Speaker 1: after six weeks it's not looking so good. Does he
- 12:15Speaker 1: make that guy go back to doing you know again?
- 12:18Speaker 2: It's I know, I hear you, but because listen, we
- 12:22Speaker 2: know what happened. In twenty three, Nick did not handle
- 12:24Speaker 2: himself well that's on your point. I know where you're
- 12:26Speaker 2: going here. We have an example of it. One hundred percent.
- 12:30Speaker 2: You nailed it. But he has his extension. I to me,
- 12:34Speaker 2: he coached for He coached like he was coaching for
- 12:36Speaker 2: his job in twenty three. Yeah, remember that the reporters
- 12:40Speaker 2: brought it up in a press conference about player development
- 12:44Speaker 2: because we got to win games. I was blown away
- 12:46Speaker 2: by his response because one of the big reasons we
- 12:49Speaker 2: were told that he got the job is in his
- 12:50Speaker 2: interview in the compound, in Jeffery's compound and wherever the
- 12:54Speaker 2: hell it is in Florida, he made it clear that
- 12:57Speaker 2: the player development was huge and they love that, they
- 12:59Speaker 2: love and that and and it's been really you know,
- 13:01Speaker 2: the post practice development period, which is phenomenal, right, and
- 13:04Speaker 2: look at how this this roster has developed. But the
- 13:08Speaker 2: underachieving of this thing is totally unacceptable. And everyone watching
- 13:11Speaker 2: his Eagles fan here knows this. Yeah, that's something you
- 13:14Speaker 2: haven't heard before. It's just it's I.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Like, how jaleas really well, he said, you can't be
- 13:20Speaker 1: super Bowl go to the super Bowl losing the wildcard game.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Go to the super Bowl losing the wildcard game. Can't
- 13:25Speaker 1: you can't do that when you have as much talent
- 13:27Speaker 1: as they had as what Dylan said, and he was right,
- 13:30Speaker 1: all right, so before we just to get them. I
- 13:32Speaker 1: really do think that this is a very important thing
- 13:34Speaker 1: to stress though with Nick Siriani has a ton of strengths.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I he's got to have learned the lesson now in
- 13:39Speaker 1: the hiring as well, and so does Howie and Jeff.
- 13:41Speaker 1: That he can't. He can. It's his own fault in
- 13:45Speaker 1: a way, but he has to hire a play caller,
- 13:49Speaker 1: a proven play caller.
- 13:50Speaker 2: That's going to happen, by the way.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Because he's right, because he can't do this anymore. It's
- 13:54Speaker 1: not even fair. It wasn't fair to Kevin, it wasn't
- 13:57Speaker 1: fair to Brian Johnson, because Nick Sirianni is the rare
- 14:00Speaker 1: offensive minded head coach who has never called plays and
- 14:04Speaker 1: does not have the ability to throw the life preserver.
- 14:09Speaker 2: A year one before he gave it up to show.
- 14:11Speaker 1: I bet prior, yeah, like that was his like we
- 14:13Speaker 1: got the job, yes, right, and then he got right.
- 14:16Speaker 1: So he didn't do it in Indianapolis, right, And so
- 14:18Speaker 1: he didn't do it when he was a wide receivers coach.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Obviously in Kansas City. So most of these guys can
- 14:23Speaker 1: throw a life preserver. They could say, all right, you're struggling,
- 14:26Speaker 1: I'll help you. Nick can't. And I think almost every
- 14:29Speaker 1: other NFL head coach is either a defensive guy or
- 14:31Speaker 1: an offensive guy, could do that because they've been in
- 14:35Speaker 1: that seat before, they have called plays. They can throw
- 14:37Speaker 1: a life preserver. Nick can no longer hire a novice.
- 14:40Speaker 1: He can't because he's not good enough as a play caller.
- 14:43Speaker 1: His own admission to help that guy. That's huge. I
- 14:48Speaker 1: didn't realize how big that was until this year.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Good point. Remember when Andy Joe Bantner told us on
- 14:54Speaker 2: our show Many for Me Egos Press and Joe Banner
- 14:56Speaker 2: told us many years ago, media had no money, had
- 14:58Speaker 2: no idea how many times and he gave a play,
- 15:00Speaker 2: calling him Marty like it might have been out there
- 15:03Speaker 2: maybe two or three times. It's Joe said, he lost
- 15:05Speaker 2: count because he did it sometimes, you know, to be
- 15:09Speaker 2: he he's things were, things were maybe it didn't have
- 15:13Speaker 2: to be that day's last year might have been in
- 15:15Speaker 2: oh six, things were getting there were some things he
- 15:17Speaker 2: didn't like, so he wanted to take a step back. Hey, Marty,
- 15:19Speaker 2: call the plays because he knew the scheme together, put
- 15:23Speaker 2: them put it together. So it's a great point you make.
- 15:25Speaker 2: I I didn't thought of it that way, but it's
- 15:27Speaker 2: very important, and I'm just fascinating to see how they
- 15:34Speaker 2: can get the hurts going forward. I just believe there's
- 15:39Speaker 2: way more. He's capable of doing way more. All the
- 15:41Speaker 2: haters could say what they want, Well, I'm not. We're
- 15:44Speaker 2: not fans, so we're not. We go by what the
- 15:46Speaker 2: tape looks like, what people tell us who grade the tape.
- 15:50Speaker 2: I just was so blown away by some of the
- 15:52Speaker 2: throws he'd made since that charge of game. I know
- 15:54Speaker 2: it's it's not a lot, but it's as Cosell would say,
- 15:57Speaker 2: it's in there, it's there. Could someone get it out
- 16:01Speaker 2: of him consistently?
- 16:02Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 16:03Speaker 2: Uh.
- 16:03Speaker 1: And to your point, if it's not, if you're banking
- 16:06Speaker 1: it on him, it's he'll do it and he doesn't
- 16:09Speaker 1: and you lose and you get fired. At least he
- 16:11Speaker 1: went out trying man. At least he didn't go That's
- 16:14Speaker 1: why I talk about that fork in the road. I
- 16:16Speaker 1: hope he's secure enough and confident enough so that if
- 16:19Speaker 1: it does backfire, if he does try to throw more,
- 16:22Speaker 1: if you just try to have a whole game full
- 16:24Speaker 1: of interesting like a Mike McDaniel or Shanahan style offense,
- 16:27Speaker 1: and it and it just comes crashing down. Okay, I'll
- 16:30Speaker 1: have a job next year in five minutes. Like, don't
- 16:32Speaker 1: coach scared. You're right, you got the extension, you got money.
- 16:36Speaker 1: You can't. You just can't. You just can't. Think. You
- 16:38Speaker 1: just need to improve it a little bit because it's
- 16:40Speaker 1: two straight years in a row. It's happened, and teams
- 16:43Speaker 1: are gunning for you, and you got you do have
- 16:45Speaker 1: to change it up.
- 16:46Speaker 2: This is what I know from behind the scenes on
- 16:48Speaker 2: this situation, on what you're talking about. Mm hm. This
- 16:50Speaker 2: made me think of something. This goes way back. They
- 16:54Speaker 2: I don't know, I'm paraphrasing. I don't know exactly how
- 16:56Speaker 2: they said it to Andy. They wanted Andy to be
- 16:59Speaker 2: fearless when they made a decision. They were so far
- 17:02Speaker 2: ahead of the game Church of throwing early and running late.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Other than Bill Wall they kind of stole from Bill Walsh,
- 17:08Speaker 2: but they wanted him to not worry about the outside noise.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Let's be aggressive. I'm never gonna get mad at you
- 17:16Speaker 2: if you're aggressive. So on your point that you made
- 17:18Speaker 2: about Nick. It's not throwing. It's nothing with throwing the
- 17:22Speaker 2: ball forty times. It's structure, it's philosophy. How are we
- 17:28Speaker 2: going to attack the defense? Or we're gonna still we're
- 17:31Speaker 2: gonna drop this four vert two by two offensive three
- 17:33Speaker 2: by one. We're gonna be modernized and maybe doing I'm
- 17:37Speaker 2: not saying you have to use a full back. You
- 17:40Speaker 2: could do twenty two person like you do twenty one.
- 17:42Speaker 2: You don't have to use a ten in, but get
- 17:44Speaker 2: Johnny Wilson back. You could convert whatever you want to do,
- 17:47Speaker 2: but be more innovative. Do the thing. Yeah, you don't
- 17:49Speaker 2: have to take like Andy. Andy would joke how he
- 17:53Speaker 2: would steal from other teams. They all coaches steal from
- 17:55Speaker 2: other teams. Hello, it's not breaking news, NICKT. What is
- 17:59Speaker 2: your what your offensive cloud control coach doing in the
- 18:03Speaker 2: off season? Steal stuff from college football? Let's go this
- 18:07Speaker 2: ship is unaccepted to it, you know he's rights.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm very curious how this is going to go.
- 18:18Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to seeing who they bring in, the
- 18:21Speaker 1: names that we figure out, and and what direction they
- 18:24Speaker 1: want to go. Who's the best fit.
- 18:30Speaker 2: The best fit would be Brian Dable.
- 18:33Speaker 1: More than Monkin.
- 18:35Speaker 2: All right, let me explain Brian Dable. Here's what but
- 18:37Speaker 2: it's not probably why most people think it could be.
- 18:40Speaker 2: I doubt it though. Brian Dable is in your face coach. Yes,
- 18:47Speaker 2: he imploded the Giants or a lot of a lot
- 18:49Speaker 2: of his issues got out. Okay, he coach hurts at Alabama.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Talking to multiple coaches who work with Brian Dable with
- 18:56Speaker 2: the Bills, I've talk to people who work with Brian
- 18:58Speaker 2: Dable with the Giants. He is outstanding coaching quarterbacks. Now
- 19:03Speaker 2: as he's not a head coach. Okay, I think we've
- 19:05Speaker 2: kind of learned that he's an excellent schemer and designer.
- 19:10Speaker 2: He's he's combined the the Belichick ron Earhart offense with
- 19:14Speaker 2: modern structure. He's phenomenal. Now if you would have asked me,
- 19:21Speaker 2: you know, if you got can based on what I knew,
- 19:23Speaker 2: I'm like, this guy needs a step away, like you
- 19:26Speaker 2: you know he's a step away. You know he needs
- 19:30Speaker 2: to step away. Now he's done that. I know for
- 19:33Speaker 2: fact that he's on the list of a couple head
- 19:35Speaker 2: coaching candidates. He's certainly going to be into man as
- 19:38Speaker 2: a play caller. I didn't know you're gonna ask it
- 19:40Speaker 2: like that. It's a great question to actually made me
- 19:42Speaker 2: think about it.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Number two, clarify, Just to clarifyer, you mean he's on
- 19:46Speaker 1: the list of head coaching candidates to be there o c.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Although he's interviewing Friday to be the for the Titans
- 19:54Speaker 2: head coach. I know that, but right, yes, I know
- 19:58Speaker 2: a couple of head coaches I know for candidates are
- 20:01Speaker 2: interested in him. He's really good Hurts and he's hard coaching.
- 20:05Speaker 2: I love that he's coached him before at Alabama. I
- 20:07Speaker 2: understand people change. There's stuff out there about Hurts being
- 20:12Speaker 2: difficult coaches, the challenging. I know that we've talked about
- 20:15Speaker 2: this before. You know what happened in twenty three.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Yep.
- 20:18Speaker 2: But here's here's the thing you love about Hurts. He's
- 20:20Speaker 2: super competitive, he's he's coachable, but you've got to reach him.
- 20:26Speaker 2: And that's my point with Daball. He would be one.
- 20:29Speaker 2: One A would be Todd Monkin.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Yeah, Monkin is good. The dable thing. I've run up
- 20:36Speaker 1: a couple of flagpoles just around the league, right, and
- 20:40Speaker 1: the whole Hurts dable thing at Alabama can can work
- 20:44Speaker 1: both ways. Though it's put to me, remember that that's
- 20:47Speaker 1: the year that Saban pulled the plug on Hurts and went.
- 20:52Speaker 2: With two right here.
- 20:53Speaker 1: So it just because they coached together doesn't mean that
- 20:57Speaker 1: that's probably not the year that Hurts considers his fondest
- 20:59Speaker 1: memory in football. So you know, I have no the
- 21:04Speaker 1: person had no idea about their relationship behind the scenes
- 21:06Speaker 1: that year, but he did point that out, and well.
- 21:09Speaker 2: That's good info. But here's the thing I know from
- 21:12Speaker 2: people I've spoken with work with him. He's in your face.
- 21:16Speaker 2: He did a phenomenal job of getting after Josh Allen.
- 21:20Speaker 2: I mean, I'm talking about Josh Allen kind of like
- 21:24Speaker 2: Carson Wentz, kind of like some guys that I get.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Josh Allen's police of percentage was horrendous at Wyoman. But
- 21:32Speaker 2: Josh Allen now is elite. He's going to be a
- 21:34Speaker 2: Hall of Famer. He's the best quarterback in football. It's
- 21:36Speaker 2: not particularly close at this point. He's special. But he
- 21:39Speaker 2: had major major issues with mechanics, processing, footwork, and Dable
- 21:46Speaker 2: got this guy going. He got after him, and that's
- 21:50Speaker 2: hard coaching. Based on what I was told from the
- 21:53Speaker 2: people work with Dable there, he may not be it
- 21:55Speaker 2: for everyone. Hurts. I'm gonna say it again. He needs
- 21:59Speaker 2: someone's gonna get after him. And on your point, it
- 22:01Speaker 2: doesn't even honestly it doesn't. It's nice that he's worked
- 22:04Speaker 2: with it's not to me, it's not a negative. But
- 22:07Speaker 2: also we have to understand Hurts is now, he's veteran quarterback, yeah,
- 22:10Speaker 2: with a big content at the same guy he remembers right.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Right, I mean that you're you're your point is perfect.
- 22:15Speaker 1: That guys can change. I mean, yes, Hurts may look
- 22:17Speaker 1: at that like you guys bet like he may be
- 22:20Speaker 1: tough to coach because he doesn't respect it, or he
- 22:22Speaker 1: may be really easy to coach because maybe he sees
- 22:25Speaker 1: the same things that Dab will see. So, but Hurts
- 22:27Speaker 1: isn't a different point in his life now where he's
- 22:29Speaker 1: got a lot more clout and power, and how it
- 22:33Speaker 1: has that changed him at all. As college kids want
- 22:35Speaker 1: to run through a wall for their head coaches, NFL
- 22:38Speaker 1: players get paid are a little bit different.
- 22:39Speaker 2: So although I'll tell you that that's such one of
- 22:42Speaker 2: the things that why Hurts is so competitive, just think
- 22:45Speaker 2: about what he's been through that thing you just mentioned,
- 22:48Speaker 2: the tow a thing. Then he had to transfer to
- 22:50Speaker 2: Oklahoma Nigols were very after Deshaun Watson, as we know
- 22:55Speaker 2: in twenty prior to the twenty two it was twenty
- 22:58Speaker 2: twelve season that ironically, it hurts best year. Think about
- 23:01Speaker 2: knowing that and never holding against anyone like like Wentz
- 23:06Speaker 2: was so embarrassed that the Eagles drafted Hurts ten months
- 23:10Speaker 2: after he sign an extension. He was so hurt by it.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Did I tell you, sir about Kurt Warner when they
- 23:15Speaker 2: drafted Matt Myer. He goes bringing on right, I remember
- 23:18Speaker 2: that I told people that. Yeah, someone was spoken told
- 23:20Speaker 2: me that, and I was like, wow, Wow, that's pretty cool.
- 23:24Speaker 2: So that's hurts. His resolve was big. Didn't one here
- 23:28Speaker 2: Todd Mankin Look, Lamar Jacks has been an MVP with
- 23:31Speaker 2: Todd Mankett. Okay, yes, and then and.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Then run her up the next year.
- 23:35Speaker 2: Yeah, you know you don't love that Montt he won
- 23:37Speaker 2: won twenty one, won twenty two when I run a
- 23:40Speaker 2: lot of thirteen, but they got three good tight ends.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Charlie Callers the third, remember him out of Iowa state. Yep,
- 23:45Speaker 2: he's run it all man, Yep, guys, he I know
- 23:49Speaker 2: he might. He's around sixty sixty early you know, he
- 23:52Speaker 2: doesn't mean he can't be a head coach in the NFL.
- 23:54Speaker 2: I know he's had interest from other teams to be
- 23:56Speaker 2: in OC. I would absolutely this is a guy that
- 24:00Speaker 2: should be talking to and he could. He coached cut
- 24:03Speaker 2: hard from what I've been told, so that I like that.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Good, that's what they need. I remember now, what you're
- 24:09Speaker 1: hitting on the head is why I think even maybe
- 24:11Speaker 1: a better or just as good of Dable just from
- 24:14Speaker 1: a schematic standpoint, because I remember when he was the
- 24:17Speaker 1: offensive coordinator in Tampa Bay, right. I think he was
- 24:20Speaker 1: under Dirk Cutter for a while and then somebody else
- 24:23Speaker 1: took over. But he no, no, no, Monkin Monkin was he?
- 24:28Speaker 1: Yeah he was. Yeah, remember with Ryan Fitzpatrick and Deshaun Jackson. Yeah,
- 24:34Speaker 1: Kirk Cutter was the head coach and and Monkey was
- 24:37Speaker 1: o C. And he threw the ball. Yeah, he was
- 24:40Speaker 1: eleven personnel. He was spread it out. Then he went
- 24:42Speaker 1: to Georgia won a national championship there.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Right, but but think about it, he was eleven person right. Now,
- 24:50Speaker 1: he comes to Baltimore and he runs what you just mentioned.
- 24:54Speaker 1: He basically keeps the staple of what Baltimore's identity is,
- 24:59Speaker 1: which is throwing two tight ends on the field, running
- 25:01Speaker 1: the ball, power run. I'm sure Lamar Jackson had some
- 25:05Speaker 1: preferences and he was able to adapt to it while
- 25:08Speaker 1: also bringing some really good passing games to I mean,
- 25:10Speaker 1: so much better than what Greg Roman brought to that offense.
- 25:13Speaker 1: So not trying to you know, slam Greg Roman. I'm
- 25:16Speaker 1: just saying the passing game obviously exploded. Lamar became an
- 25:19Speaker 1: MVP with Munkin, so you would like this is why
- 25:22Speaker 1: I find it good fit. Can he come to the
- 25:25Speaker 1: Eagles and still give the Eagles their identity of how
- 25:28Speaker 1: they want to run the offense, but also spice up
- 25:31Speaker 1: that passing game with what he likes to bring from
- 25:33Speaker 1: a pass game concept. He's got the record of showing it.
- 25:36Speaker 1: He can. He can coach at any personnel level or
- 25:39Speaker 1: whatever you want. He'll figure it out. And I like
- 25:41Speaker 1: that he's adapted.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I just those to me are the two best. Now,
- 25:46Speaker 2: Mike McDaniel, it's just he's brilliant, Okay, He's highling to
- 25:52Speaker 2: man a lot of teams. He's had head coaching interviews,
- 25:55Speaker 2: he's had OC interviews. The thing with him is he
- 25:59Speaker 2: runs Shanahan offense. Right, Herts is not a quick decision
- 26:06Speaker 2: timing and rhythm guy. He's shown a little bit, as
- 26:09Speaker 2: we said late because the tape confirms us, but overall
- 26:11Speaker 2: he's not He's never been that guy, right you. I
- 26:14Speaker 2: remember when I jokingly said to you and you corrected me.
- 26:19Speaker 2: You said, dude, I said to you, I mentioned Mike
- 26:21Speaker 2: mc dana when he gets canned back in October, and
- 26:25Speaker 2: you go, dude, you realize that the old school West
- 26:27Speaker 2: Coast offense, And oh yeah, Shannon, I said, oh my bad,
- 26:30Speaker 2: that's not a fit for Jailen. Now, I just I
- 26:35Speaker 2: loved and by the way, Dayball's done a great job
- 26:37Speaker 2: of adapting to different styles of quarterbacks. So's Todd Monkin.
- 26:39Speaker 2: As you just talked about Fitzmagic, or was when Fitzmagic
- 26:45Speaker 2: became born on her Monkin, it was like, where's the
- 26:48Speaker 2: hell is this coming from? And of course he became
- 26:50Speaker 2: fits tragic with the turnovers, but it was fit as
- 26:52Speaker 2: they called him. But it happened, but it was unreal
- 26:55Speaker 2: when he was on fire. Yeah, it was like you
- 26:58Speaker 2: couldn't believe what you're seeing. Those would be, to answer
- 27:01Speaker 2: your question, those would be the two best ones by far.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Yeah, McDaniel is really good what it does, but it
- 27:08Speaker 1: almost I talked about that fork in the road. If
- 27:11Speaker 1: you if you're bringing in Mike McDaniel hiring him, you
- 27:13Speaker 1: are going like way down to the other other way.
- 27:16Speaker 2: From where it's like changing completely.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Right. So, like, as much as we're advocating for change
- 27:22Speaker 1: and necessary and give Jalen more keys and let him,
- 27:25Speaker 1: we're also not saying let's go put him in a
- 27:27Speaker 1: Shanahan style offense because that that could completely backfire.
- 27:31Speaker 2: But you know what, yes, but just to add this,
- 27:34Speaker 2: but who.
- 27:36Speaker 1: But again by point right McDaniel, McDaniel can adapt.
- 27:39Speaker 2: To that, That's what I Yeah, could you not start
- 27:44Speaker 2: stealing stuff with these other coaches? Like just it's it's
- 27:49Speaker 2: how's a guy like next year any won a Super
- 27:51Speaker 2: Bowl and and make the plays? The guy's a really
- 27:54Speaker 2: good head coach. Obviously five years of the playoffs to
- 27:56Speaker 2: Super Bowl one? Ring, Yeah, how do you not do that?
- 28:00Speaker 2: I just I don't know, I'm sorry, I'm just I'm
- 28:03Speaker 2: still kind of I'm like I think.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Anyway, I just think he has trust issues. I think
- 28:10Speaker 1: he has trust of going veering too far off of
- 28:12Speaker 1: what has been what has been the foundation of his success,
- 28:17Speaker 1: and he never has seemingly cared. I'll tell you when
- 28:19Speaker 1: I really this became crystal clear to me this after
- 28:22Speaker 1: the Buffalo game. What was a score? Fifteen thirteen?
- 28:26Speaker 2: Yeah? Oh go ahead?
- 28:28Speaker 1: Yeah. And he's walking out of into down the tunnel,
- 28:31Speaker 1: beating his chest, loving every second of it. And you
- 28:34Speaker 1: see A J. Brown standing next to him looking at
- 28:36Speaker 1: him like are you are we We just see the
- 28:38Speaker 1: same game here. But that's what I'm saying. I think
- 28:40Speaker 1: he has trust about deviating away too far from what
- 28:44Speaker 1: his core offensive principles are. That's why I think he
- 28:48Speaker 1: doesn't steal these concepts or add them in. I just
- 28:51Speaker 1: you know, it's just a trust. It could be a
- 28:54Speaker 1: trust issue. I read it ahead.
- 28:57Speaker 2: But anyway your point, I don't. I can't. You can't
- 29:01Speaker 2: keep saying it's a Hurts issue. Bullshit, It can't be
- 29:05Speaker 2: all him. You gotta be fearless, man. I think Greg
- 29:09Speaker 2: talked about it, and Greg and I did the Inside
- 29:11Speaker 2: of the Tape show. Greg talked about it. You can't
- 29:13Speaker 2: really worry about Hurts anymore. Like, Okay, you wanted the
- 29:16Speaker 2: continuity he's known Patulo. You didn't want to change the system.
- 29:19Speaker 2: Fun it failed completely Okay, scrap the goddamn thing, give
- 29:24Speaker 2: the new guy the keys, and get the hell out
- 29:26Speaker 2: of the way. It's okay. Tom Coffin won a Super
- 29:29Speaker 2: Bowl without a hat. He had no interest, he had
- 29:30Speaker 2: no he had nothing to do with their offensive defense.
- 29:33Speaker 2: He's a CEO head coach. He would now he was.
- 29:38Speaker 2: He was a run the game guy. Kevin Gilbriden knew
- 29:40Speaker 2: when he came in there's certain thing you had to do.
- 29:42Speaker 2: But schimatically he's not get involved.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Come on, man, yeah, I would even say this.
- 29:47Speaker 2: I don't.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Maybe it is a Hurts issue, and I'm not trying
- 29:49Speaker 1: to slay Hurts. But if it is, hire a great
- 29:52Speaker 1: offensive coordinator who has done great things offenses, and if
- 29:56Speaker 1: the Eagles offense thinks, then maybe the organization says, oh, okay,
- 30:00Speaker 1: we just maybe we have to change the quarterback. That's
- 30:02Speaker 1: just that's something for a year from now or two.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Who knows, right, But the point is, don't be conservative
- 30:07Speaker 1: about it because you're scared. Go find the guy that
- 30:09Speaker 1: you well said offensive mind. Yes, all right, any what's
- 30:13Speaker 1: another thing. I know Kevin Stefanski is probably gonna get
- 30:15Speaker 1: a head job. We can talk about to talk about it,
- 30:18Speaker 1: but I mean you don't.
- 30:19Speaker 2: God, I'm surprised he's taken all these interviews. He's got
- 30:26Speaker 2: money coming to me son extension last year's he's got
- 30:28Speaker 2: it off set.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Uh huh.
- 30:29Speaker 2: As far as him being in OC here, like he's
- 30:32Speaker 2: born and raised here, Saint Joe's prep. His dad added
- 30:34Speaker 2: was a form of six Ers GM. A lot of
- 30:35Speaker 2: people probably don't even know that.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Yep, don't even know he might he was an intern
- 30:40Speaker 1: for Andy Reid.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I started in two thousand or whatever the hell
- 30:43Speaker 2: year it was with with you, but actually knows what
- 30:45Speaker 2: it was. It was actually after that. It's when how
- 30:47Speaker 2: we started. But yeah, I mean he'll be on if
- 30:53Speaker 2: he does not get a head coaching job. People in
- 30:54Speaker 2: a lot of lists to be in oc of course,
- 30:56Speaker 2: Now what is of interest in him if he wants
- 30:58Speaker 2: to come home? Sure? Uh now he's he's a big
- 31:01Speaker 2: wide zone guy. I could talk to Kevin about this.
- 31:04Speaker 2: That's his deal.
- 31:07Speaker 1: By the way, very strange, he's really because he's only
- 31:10Speaker 1: worked for two NFL teams, right his first team is
- 31:12Speaker 1: I mean as a as an assistant coach right Minnesota
- 31:15Speaker 1: and then head coach in Cleveland. And in Minnesota, he
- 31:18Speaker 1: was hired by Childress, I believe, and then childrens were
- 31:21Speaker 1: shortly gone. Then it was Leslie Fraser, and then it
- 31:23Speaker 1: was Mike Zimmer. So it's interesting to me that his
- 31:27Speaker 1: offense is old Kubiak, not new. It's old Koubyak Shanahan,
- 31:31Speaker 1: not necessarily a new one. Like you said, a lot
- 31:33Speaker 1: of wide zone under center play action. I'm sort of
- 31:37Speaker 1: curious because the Eagles started doing under center this year.
- 31:40Speaker 1: If that's kind of the midpoint that you're like, the
- 31:44Speaker 1: good advancement of this offense that you're looking.
- 31:46Speaker 2: For at it, listen, add it to the list. That's
- 31:51Speaker 2: another thing hurts. His numbers mostly are really good under center. Yeah,
- 31:57Speaker 2: as Greg has told us, play action works so much better,
- 32:01Speaker 2: so much better when the quarterbacks under center. Just he's
- 32:05Speaker 2: grading thirty two teams, not just one. He goes my
- 32:07Speaker 2: eyes tell me, and he may have numbers backing up,
- 32:10Speaker 2: but he always tell us you can't tell you how
- 32:12Speaker 2: much better it is and how the defense reacts on
- 32:14Speaker 2: the quarterbacks under center.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Okay, so yeah, so hey, if he happens to be
- 32:19Speaker 1: available and they can get him, man, that would be
- 32:22Speaker 1: a slam dunk.
- 32:23Speaker 2: I'm going to even one more. And I was skeptical,
- 32:26Speaker 2: skeptical of this guy. But the job he did with
- 32:29Speaker 2: be John Robinson and some of the personnel. I know
- 32:31Speaker 2: it could be better, but Drake London is a breakout player.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Zach Robinson, hmmm, who he's now here's the problem though?
- 32:38Speaker 2: He's West coast based, West coast.
- 32:40Speaker 1: Based, an entirely pistol in Atlanta almost too.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Well, that might have been for that might have been
- 32:46Speaker 2: for Pennix. Yeah. Also actually part of it might have
- 32:50Speaker 2: been because the word around the Falcons was they did
- 32:53Speaker 2: that help Kirk Cousins out come back from the Achilles. Yeah,
- 32:56Speaker 2: because he might have had trouble crouching.
- 32:58Speaker 1: Uh huh.
- 32:58Speaker 2: But he's a McVeigh guy, right, Mcveigh's been a little
- 33:05Speaker 2: bit more adaptable. Thank Kyle's great, he's brilliant. I'm not
- 33:08Speaker 2: saying he's not. But they're in the same tree, but
- 33:11Speaker 2: they don't see it completely the same.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Agreed. I think I think you're fair to say he's
- 33:17Speaker 1: been more adaptable than I mean, he's totally changed his
- 33:20Speaker 1: entire run scheme.
- 33:22Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 33:23Speaker 1: No, so yeah, they.
- 33:24Speaker 2: Let Greg said because they charted this. They led the
- 33:27Speaker 2: NFL in thirteen personnel for like eight weeks. I'm like,
- 33:30Speaker 2: I was like, what he's mister eleven personnel. I couldn't
- 33:33Speaker 2: believe it.
- 33:34Speaker 1: I know they were so outside zone when they had
- 33:36Speaker 1: Girley and won the super Bowl, and the last two
- 33:38Speaker 1: to two and a half years they're just inside zone duo.
- 33:41Speaker 1: I mean that's great.
- 33:42Speaker 2: So I think you got and he's had Zach Robinson
- 33:44Speaker 2: had some interviews. Yeah, the guy, you got it. He
- 33:46Speaker 2: should be looking at I remember when he was drafted
- 33:48Speaker 2: as a quarterback, but he also worked for PFF.
- 33:52Speaker 1: I think I think you're correct about that.
- 33:54Speaker 2: I think so. I did not like what I saw
- 33:57Speaker 2: and heard the first year, but I from when I
- 33:59Speaker 2: was told he matured, he got it in the year two,
- 34:04Speaker 2: h Drake Drake Lung's become a player on him, Bijeon
- 34:07Speaker 2: was elite. He's the best running back in football this season.
- 34:10Speaker 2: And you know it's funny. One more for you and
- 34:12Speaker 2: we'll you know, we'll be back next week. We'll break
- 34:14Speaker 2: it even further down. It takes usually it usually it
- 34:18Speaker 2: takes like two weeks to get a coordinator hired. But
- 34:24Speaker 2: what I cannot understand, and another thing I will not
- 34:27Speaker 2: accept about the seriotte is why the hell do you
- 34:31Speaker 2: not have a screen game like high school offense have
- 34:35Speaker 2: a screen game? Well, my man, And I've got my
- 34:38Speaker 2: problem with Arthur Smith as a play caller. I don't
- 34:40Speaker 2: think he's very good based on schematics and what I've seen,
- 34:43Speaker 2: what I've heard. But Kenny Gagwell led them in receiving.
- 34:48Speaker 2: He was incredible, folks. He was their best. He might
- 34:55Speaker 2: have been the best offensive player this past season.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Y give us, get us, get the team someone who
- 35:02Speaker 1: can who can put a screen game. And guess what
- 35:04Speaker 1: that brings us. Griff Kingsbury Adam because he good.
- 35:07Speaker 2: I forgot him.
- 35:08Speaker 1: He's really good.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Now.
- 35:09Speaker 1: But we went through this a year ago.
- 35:11Speaker 2: Two, a year and a half ago. We put it
- 35:13Speaker 2: out before. I don't mean, I don't know if we
- 35:14Speaker 2: were first we said Eagles were not going along with
- 35:17Speaker 2: his plan to remove a lot of the coaches and offense.
- 35:20Speaker 1: M hm.
- 35:20Speaker 2: So I don't know if they'll re engage him now,
- 35:25Speaker 2: did Cliff? You know, Cliff and my reporting on what
- 35:27Speaker 2: happened in Washington, Dan Quinnin and him clashed. Although he
- 35:31Speaker 2: did a great job, Cliff, but he got something out
- 35:34Speaker 2: of the run game. I was shocked. We talked about
- 35:36Speaker 2: both games. He did a great job with the runs game.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Sure, honestly, his offense might fit what the Eagles want.
- 35:41Speaker 1: I mean he ran the ball really well this year, right,
- 35:43Speaker 1: I mean he throws. His screen game is great, His
- 35:45Speaker 1: vocal game is really good. His quick quarterbacks game.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Yeah, his quarterbacks running the red zone. He is a
- 35:51Speaker 2: really good play caller. He may not be a great
- 35:52Speaker 2: head coach, but he's a good play caller. Yep. Now
- 35:56Speaker 2: he wants all his guys then going to get to
- 35:59Speaker 2: if he stubborn, non starter, If he's willing to say,
- 36:01Speaker 2: you know what, let me I want this, this and
- 36:04Speaker 2: this here. If you want to keep this guy, this guy,
- 36:06Speaker 2: I'm fine. It's a different story. His agent is uh,
- 36:11Speaker 2: Eric Borkar's interesting. He's got Kyler Marray Yep, Cliff Kingsbury
- 36:16Speaker 2: and he's he's Erk's pretty good. Erks has been around
- 36:20Speaker 2: a long long time.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Yep.
- 36:22Speaker 2: And I think I think what you do is you
- 36:25Speaker 2: talk to Cliff and go listen, we like you. We
- 36:28Speaker 2: went through this a year and a half ago, or
- 36:29Speaker 2: wherever the hell it was. Are you willing to change?
- 36:32Speaker 2: Are you willing? Are you willing to share two years
- 36:34Speaker 2: or whatever it was? Are you willing to change this UF.
- 36:36Speaker 2: If not, we're not going to talk to you. Put
- 36:38Speaker 2: this out. It's with the agent. It's like a minute
- 36:41Speaker 2: a half conversation. Will Cliff. Is Cliff willing to bend
- 36:44Speaker 2: a little? If not, sorry, we're Not'm interested.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Hey, before we get out of here, because there's gonna
- 36:48Speaker 1: be a bunch of names and we'll discuss them in
- 36:49Speaker 1: future pots too. We just wanted to get to the
- 36:51Speaker 1: biggest ones.
- 36:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:52Speaker 1: I do think we have to at least just touch
- 36:54Speaker 1: on this that I do wonder about, because what we
- 36:57Speaker 1: talk about Kingsbury just the presence of a guy like
- 36:59Speaker 1: stout and who is the run game designer. If you're
- 37:02Speaker 1: going to bring in someone like a Mike McDaniel or
- 37:05Speaker 1: a Kevin Stefanski, or someone who has their own style
- 37:08Speaker 1: of run game that may not be the same that
- 37:10Speaker 1: Jeff Stoutlin is. That could be an issue. And I
- 37:13Speaker 1: don't know how that's gonna play out.
- 37:15Speaker 2: Something You're going to give you a nugget. That's why
- 37:19Speaker 2: I can't remember the guy's name they had. Kevin had
- 37:22Speaker 2: to move on from an offensive line coach. So and
- 37:23Speaker 2: told me a couple of years ago in Cleveland because
- 37:26Speaker 2: he did not fit whatever. I don't because Kevin has
- 37:30Speaker 2: given up his play call before he's you know, then
- 37:32Speaker 2: he's called taken aback right by by year. But I
- 37:35Speaker 2: don't remember. But I do know that they made a
- 37:39Speaker 2: mistake hiring the guy because he guy was a good coach,
- 37:42Speaker 2: but it didn't fit what they needed and it just
- 37:46Speaker 2: didn't work. So that's a great point you make. That's
- 37:48Speaker 2: absolutely has to be part of the scush effect. Stout
- 37:50Speaker 2: should be part of the scusher whoever it is, he
- 37:52Speaker 2: should be part of it because that's Stout designs the
- 37:55Speaker 2: run game.
- 37:55Speaker 1: That's his deal, right so and unfortunately so we'll see,
- 38:00Speaker 1: but that could make it difficult as the Eagles are
- 38:03Speaker 1: looking for not only enough to spice up the pass game,
- 38:06Speaker 1: but they revive what their run game was. So we
- 38:08Speaker 1: will talk about it more as we go through. There'll
- 38:11Speaker 1: be a lot more names and people to discuss. That's
- 38:13Speaker 1: gonna do it for this episode of Inside the Birds,
- 38:16Speaker 1: the leading podcast in Eagles Intel, and as always, we
- 38:19Speaker 1: thank you for flying with us Inside Lubbirds
