Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, hey, this is a Chris from banda Ailstorm.
- 0:03Speaker 1: We play dreadful pirate metal and we're coming to Australia
- 0:08Speaker 1: in February and March with our bodies from Necro Goblican
- 0:12Speaker 1: to do a sick huge tour of all the cool
- 0:14Speaker 1: cities and it's going to be.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Sick awesome mane. Thanks for joining us the same.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Thing, No worries, Mate's it going very rolling.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Indeed, as you say, our Storm returned or was trying
- 0:25Speaker 3: very soon for a runham show starting in Perth on
- 0:27Speaker 3: February twenty fifth and then going through Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney,
- 0:31Speaker 3: Camera and Brisbane before heading d Zland to play in
- 0:35Speaker 3: Auckland on the seventh and Wellington on the eighth.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Made so not long ago now, how are you feeling?
- 0:40Speaker 1: Yeah, pretty excited about that one. We're right now we're
- 0:43Speaker 1: in the middle of like a tour in Europe, so
- 0:44Speaker 1: it's like we're just in the full time touring mode
- 0:46Speaker 1: right now. So it's like I can't wait to bring
- 0:49Speaker 1: this because these shows are going so so good right
- 0:51Speaker 1: now and it's pretty much going to be the same
- 0:53Speaker 1: show but even bigger in Australia, so it's like, I
- 0:55Speaker 1: cannot wait to bring all this madness over there. It's
- 0:57Speaker 1: going to be so much fun.
- 0:59Speaker 3: It's like a lot on my Like you say, you
- 1:00Speaker 3: tour in Europe now and then you come into Australia.
- 1:03Speaker 3: So did it take much different? Like going somewhere from
- 1:06Speaker 3: your Australia do you have to repay recalibrate?
- 1:10Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, it's obviously it's a bit different. Like
- 1:12Speaker 1: in Australia. Every day you're flying between the shows, like
- 1:14Speaker 1: it's it's kind of brutal sometimes that you play a
- 1:16Speaker 1: show next morning, you wake up at five am after
- 1:19Speaker 1: a hard night of drink and you jump on a
- 1:20Speaker 1: plane across the country. Here it's just after the show.
- 1:23Speaker 1: You used to fall asleep in a bed and you
- 1:25Speaker 1: wake up at the next show and we've got like,
- 1:27Speaker 1: you know, trucks and stuff. So it's it's definitely a
- 1:29Speaker 1: different vibe touring Australia, but I love it. It's just so
- 1:32Speaker 1: much fun, you know.
- 1:34Speaker 2: So what's changed with our songs since your Audi last time?
- 1:39Speaker 1: Ah? So we were last out in twenty twenty two.
- 1:42Speaker 1: That was a nice too. We were actually looking at
- 1:43Speaker 1: the set list and stuff last night figuring out what
- 1:45Speaker 1: we're going to play. I mean, like, oh, that set
- 1:47Speaker 1: that's good, but this new one's even better. So we've
- 1:49Speaker 1: had like a you know, we've released an EP since
- 1:52Speaker 1: then with a bunch of songs. We'll actually be bringing
- 1:56Speaker 1: his guest musician of Patti Gurdy. She sings and plays
- 1:59Speaker 1: like a hurdy gurdy things. So we're going to cool
- 2:01Speaker 1: songs with her. It's gonna be a lot more cool stuff.
- 2:04Speaker 1: It's gonna be nice for them. Yeah, release some more music,
- 2:07Speaker 1: gonna play all of you guys, and hopefully you'll enjoy
- 2:09Speaker 1: our show.
- 2:11Speaker 3: You mentioned earlier in the elaborate stay set up that
- 2:14Speaker 3: you're gonna be bringing over, So run a story led.
- 2:16Speaker 2: What have you gone?
- 2:17Speaker 1: Inflatable ducks? Lots and lots of inflatable ducks?
- 2:23Speaker 2: What more could have men asked for?
- 2:25Speaker 1: Right? All? You need some bands? You some bands they
- 2:27Speaker 1: have like, you know, trucks full of really complicated gear
- 2:30Speaker 1: and like, you know, strange like you know, stage props
- 2:33Speaker 1: and crazy lights and ship. Now we've got a suitcase
- 2:36Speaker 1: full of inflatable ducks and oh my god, it's just
- 2:38Speaker 1: the best thing in the world. It's efficient and it
- 2:40Speaker 1: looks cool and they're giant.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Who gets the job of blowing them up every night.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Yeah. We well, on this tour we actually have a
- 2:47Speaker 1: dedicated duck tech whose job is just to inflate ducks.
- 2:50Speaker 1: But I don't know. I think one of our crew
- 2:53Speaker 1: is gonna be pulling double duty Australia, blowing up ducks
- 2:56Speaker 1: while tuoting guitars.
- 2:57Speaker 3: You know, for those on familiar with Alstom, what can
- 3:01Speaker 3: we expect from your live show?
- 3:03Speaker 1: It's absolute chaos. It's a party. Everyone's going to be drunk.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Watch your head. There's gonna be a lot of crowdsurfers.
- 3:09Speaker 1: There always is. It's oh my god. Like last night
- 3:11Speaker 1: we were playing in France, the Number there's a dude
- 3:15Speaker 1: crowdsurfing with just a kilt, and I mean just a kilt.
- 3:19Speaker 1: It was otherwise totally naked, so of course you can
- 3:21Speaker 1: start crowdsurfing. The kilts rides up and he's got arson balls,
- 3:25Speaker 1: just tea bagging the entire audience as he goes like
- 3:29Speaker 1: and these people the know ideo it's going on. You're
- 3:30Speaker 1: standing there watching the show and suddenly you feel this
- 3:33Speaker 1: wet pair of balls on your head and you look
- 3:35Speaker 1: up and you get face full of urs. It's just
- 3:37Speaker 1: and it was That was the whole show. I just
- 3:39Speaker 1: kept watching these people get tea bagged. I'm like, oh
- 3:41Speaker 1: my god. So yeah, it's hopefully that sort of behavior
- 3:45Speaker 1: won't happen, but you know, anything's.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Possible on stage. It's not your concern.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Yeah, sure, problem may not well.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Oles Stone are also ben It's well known for your
- 3:56Speaker 3: love of a party made like anything you read about you,
- 3:58Speaker 3: guys there anyone that talks about you. Party comes up
- 4:01Speaker 3: all the time, like is that true or is that
- 4:03Speaker 3: just like one of those myths that come from the road.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I think it's partly what is our reputation precedes us?
- 4:12Speaker 1: But I think we're getting old. Like we used to
- 4:16Speaker 1: fucking smash back the pintes and just get absolutely stupid
- 4:18Speaker 1: every night. Now it's like, man, we should probably do
- 4:20Speaker 1: some exercise and go to bed early. You know, it
- 4:23Speaker 1: happens to the best of us. Man, happens to the
- 4:24Speaker 1: best of us. But yeah, it's it's gonna be daft,
- 4:26Speaker 1: it's gonna be very stupid. I think we always use
- 4:29Speaker 1: Australia as an excuse to get it very very loose
- 4:31Speaker 1: and just have a great time.
- 4:33Speaker 3: And it is that a reputation that as a band
- 4:36Speaker 3: you finally gonna live up to you like sometimes you'd
- 4:38Speaker 3: be feeling flat, but be not.
- 4:40Speaker 2: We're in the party band. We gotta get out there
- 4:42Speaker 2: and rip it up.
- 4:43Speaker 1: It's hard like sometimes like you know, you know, because
- 4:45Speaker 1: we're doing this every night on tour, but the people
- 4:48Speaker 1: coming to the shows, it's like, I know that's saying
- 4:49Speaker 1: that's their one big show of the week, and I'm like, man,
- 4:53Speaker 1: I was wasted last night. I don't want to get
- 4:54Speaker 1: wasted again today. I want to go to bed Like no, Chris,
- 4:58Speaker 1: drink this entire bottle of rum. I'm like, fine, I'll
- 5:00Speaker 1: drink your bottle around. So, yeah, it's it's it's it's hard.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Play the songs is easy. Just surviving the shows is
- 5:09Speaker 1: the hard part.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Now, speaking of a good time you mentioned before, you're
- 5:14Speaker 3: bringing Neck Gray Goblet on.
- 5:17Speaker 2: That looks like a party in itself.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Yeah, sorry that. They're a really silly band, like they've
- 5:23Speaker 1: gotta they're singers of Goblin, their stops kind of weird
- 5:26Speaker 1: party nonsense music. We've toured a bunch in the past,
- 5:30Speaker 1: so's it'll be cool to bring them because they this
- 5:32Speaker 1: is the first time we've actually brought like a real
- 5:35Speaker 1: international band to uh to support us in Australia. So
- 5:38Speaker 1: it's like bringing the tour to the next level. It's
- 5:40Speaker 1: gonna be cool and there. Yeah, great, guys. I hope
- 5:42Speaker 1: you all enjoy it.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Have you got any partty drinks line up to the
- 5:46Speaker 2: goblin like.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Ah, we might, we might abduct their goblin for a song.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Who knows, it could be fun. We'll see, we'll see
- 5:51Speaker 1: what the vibes like. You know, everyone might just be
- 5:53Speaker 1: really really freaking sleepy the whole time, because you know,
- 5:56Speaker 1: it's like I say that the flying schedule is kind
- 5:57Speaker 1: of brutal, but you know whatever.
- 6:00Speaker 3: I'd say just like a necrogoblic I've got a lot
- 6:02Speaker 3: of fans in Australia just say someone's coming along just
- 6:05Speaker 3: to see them and they don't know much about Alstorm,
- 6:07Speaker 3: Like give us three of your songs I should listen
- 6:10Speaker 3: to in order to get to know the band better.
- 6:12Speaker 1: I mean we are Ailestorm is the most basic bitch
- 6:15Speaker 1: band in the world. Like we've got like it's all
- 6:19Speaker 1: about the hits. It's like people love drink, they love
- 6:23Speaker 1: fucks with an anchor, and they love p A R. T. Y.
- 6:27Speaker 1: That's like the that's the Megabangers. Right now, and that's
- 6:30Speaker 1: you know, that's the songs that go off and we
- 6:32Speaker 1: play those towards the end of the set, people go crazy.
- 6:34Speaker 1: It's you know, it's a glow of crowdsurfers. Hopefully no testicles.
- 6:37Speaker 1: But you know.
- 6:41Speaker 3: You mentioned before too, but you're released like a CP
- 6:44Speaker 3: Voyage of the Dead Maron back in March last year.
- 6:47Speaker 2: That was a reception for that one for you.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Yeah, people love it. It's some of the most popular
- 6:52Speaker 1: songs right now. Like we play a lot of them
- 6:54Speaker 1: live and goes off and it's cool having whether the
- 6:56Speaker 1: main track on that one had like guest vocals from
- 6:59Speaker 1: Patty was talking earlier and she's been joining us on tour.
- 7:02Speaker 1: She's going to join us in Australia tour and we're
- 7:04Speaker 1: going to sing that one and it's sick and yeah,
- 7:06Speaker 1: we're already working on new stuff. We've got an album
- 7:09Speaker 1: coming out later this year. So it's NonStop.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Really was And I'll start of one of those bands
- 7:14Speaker 3: and I'll say this without mis respect, mate, but you're
- 7:17Speaker 3: one of those bands that you've got your sound and
- 7:19Speaker 3: you've got that distinct you know when you when you're
- 7:21Speaker 3: making music, people expect that from you.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Like, does that as a musician, does that get a
- 7:26Speaker 2: big style? After all? Like having to come up with
- 7:28Speaker 2: something we I?
- 7:31Speaker 1: I uh, sometimes, I like I refuse to get pigeonholed sometimes.
- 7:35Speaker 1: So the next album is kind of different. I don't know.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I mean, obviously there's there's a couple of like those
- 7:40Speaker 1: classic Ailstorm party hits. Then the rest of it's absolute
- 7:43Speaker 1: nonsense and chaos. So I just love doing music that
- 7:48Speaker 1: people don't want to hear. It's obviously it's nice to
- 7:50Speaker 1: do songs that people like a couple of those every album,
- 7:53Speaker 1: but the rest is going to be absolute nonsense and
- 7:56Speaker 1: you're all gonna hate it. So John, it's a.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Big hit the bri Before I let you go, I've
- 8:01Speaker 3: got a new segment. I've introduced scored photo bombs. So basically,
- 8:04Speaker 3: before I speak to you, I troll three you social
- 8:06Speaker 3: media and find a couple. Oh jesus, I have too
- 8:10Speaker 3: much bed in there, mate, So you're getting off pretty lightly.
- 8:13Speaker 3: But we spoke about this before, mate, like you've got
- 8:16Speaker 3: the ducks, what's yes behind the docks?
- 8:19Speaker 2: Where they Where did it come from?
- 8:22Speaker 1: Right? So flashback all the way to twenty sixteen. We
- 8:28Speaker 1: did this tour supporting Sabaton and by a Swedish band.
- 8:33Speaker 1: They had a tank on stage, a big fucking tank
- 8:35Speaker 1: right in the middle, and we're like, right, what the
- 8:37Speaker 1: fuck are we gonna We coulda beat this. So we
- 8:40Speaker 1: we bought this cheap like inflatable duck on Amazon for
- 8:43Speaker 1: like thirty bucks and we sat it on top of
- 8:45Speaker 1: the tank. People went crazy for it, and so we
- 8:48Speaker 1: just said, right, that's our thing though, ducks. We kept
- 8:50Speaker 1: buying more and more ducks. This is actually one of
- 8:52Speaker 1: our smaller ducks. The biggest duck is like, I don't know,
- 8:57Speaker 1: four or four and a half meters tall, and sometimes
- 9:00Speaker 1: we have multiple of them. It's great. So yeah, it's
- 9:04Speaker 1: ducks is just our thing though, and it's nothing to
- 9:06Speaker 1: do with anything. There's no there's no lore about it.
- 9:09Speaker 1: We don't really address it during the show. It's just
- 9:11Speaker 1: there and people people expected these days, just the expects
- 9:13Speaker 1: to this giant duck on station.
- 9:15Speaker 2: That's it. It's great. However, they first started porting the
- 9:17Speaker 2: duck on top of Sabaton's tank, how did they take that?
- 9:21Speaker 1: Well? I mean they we asked like, so is this okay?
- 9:23Speaker 1: Like it's you know, the duck, it weighs nothing, it
- 9:25Speaker 1: was like, you know, like a couple of hundred grams,
- 9:27Speaker 1: like inflatable things, like we just put this here. They
- 9:29Speaker 1: were like yes, sure, whatever, and then since we put
- 9:31Speaker 1: it there, the whole crowd he goes like duck duck,
- 9:34Speaker 1: duck duck, and we're like, oh my god, we've hit
- 9:37Speaker 1: gold here.
- 9:37Speaker 4: There it worked more. M Oh that's in Where is that?
- 9:52Speaker 1: Oh? Yeah, that's in the Netherlands. Yeah me, I see
- 9:55Speaker 1: I I had the good grace to wear underwear on
- 9:59Speaker 1: like certain other people in France. Yeah, that's occasionally, like
- 10:03Speaker 1: if the show's particularly great fun, I do like to
- 10:05Speaker 1: just at the end of the show just throw myself
- 10:08Speaker 1: into the audience and serve to the bar. Last summer,
- 10:13Speaker 1: that was a good laugh. Yeah.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Oh did they have a like when you want to
- 10:16Speaker 3: come back to the creative a hate taking you that
- 10:18Speaker 3: way and Keepe taking you Hawaii.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's it's surprisingly easy to like sort of
- 10:24Speaker 1: direct you know if you're because they kind of pay
- 10:27Speaker 1: attention you just like you kind of point directions and
- 10:29Speaker 1: they'll kind of do what you want. Mostly so you
- 10:31Speaker 1: can say, yeah, take me to the bar, team to
- 10:33Speaker 1: the stage, take me to the toilets, take me to
- 10:35Speaker 1: the burger van to get a back of chips, and
- 10:37Speaker 1: they're pretty good at that. It's it's you can you
- 10:39Speaker 1: can surprisingly direct yourself well when your crowdsurfing.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Does anyone ever try to take a soup and here
- 10:44Speaker 2: off you try to rip your handle?
- 10:46Speaker 1: Oh god, they do all the time. I'm just like,
- 10:48Speaker 1: stop it, why are you doing that? These are my clothes,
- 10:51Speaker 1: they're not yours. I need these, like I don't have
- 10:53Speaker 1: a limited supply of fucking stageloads. It's all gone. If
- 10:57Speaker 1: you lose these, the next show's naked.
- 10:58Speaker 2: You know, let's leave it to that one. Then, Thanks
- 11:03Speaker 2: very much for your time tonight.
- 11:04Speaker 3: I made our storm here with necro goblic Horn starting
- 11:07Speaker 3: February twenty fifth in Perth.
- 11:09Speaker 2: It is a good party. The Constius probably one of
- 11:11Speaker 2: the musty conscious of the year. So you know how
- 11:13Speaker 2: they get your tickets and we'll see you in Brisbane.
