- 0:14Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Move the ball and score points this week and hold
- 0:21Speaker 3: on to it. Yeah, just hold on to it. Is right,
- 0:25Speaker 3: We're gonna run it well. Five panthers below.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Each member of the puteam must declare whether he's a
- 0:31Speaker 1: stutter of stiff So stutter stiff, Bryce Young today, Hunter
- 0:35Speaker 1: Renfro stiff, Treshaun Wharton boop.
- 0:39Speaker 3: You lost to Charles Stows in hockey.
- 0:41Speaker 4: So that's why it's the one game I will go
- 0:43Speaker 4: back and change.
- 0:43Speaker 1: That's how it was. My question is who did the
- 0:46Speaker 1: Patriots play in Week four? Trick question? It was bye week,
- 0:51Speaker 1: they went out. I answered it.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Oh, so I have two guesses in my head, so
- 0:56Speaker 3: you would have been wrong. I'm gonna say I have
- 0:58Speaker 3: another guest. So if that's wrong, just say it's wrong.
- 1:00Speaker 3: It's wrong, the city Pittsburgh wrong.
- 1:03Speaker 1: They went on to lose in week five to the
- 1:05Speaker 1: Falcons thirty to seventeen. Okay, it's slipping. Paul good Man.
- 1:10Speaker 3: This is Patriot's Unfiltered presented by Toyota's official website for deals,
- 1:15Speaker 3: buy a Toyota dot com.
- 1:19Speaker 1: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
- 1:23Speaker 1: at Jillette Stadium and we're getting closer to Week four
- 1:27Speaker 1: matchup with the Carolina Panthers. It's Evan Paul, myself, Duce.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Alex is here because it's picks day and she needs
- 1:35Speaker 1: her flowers.
- 1:36Speaker 3: I was going to flowers.
- 1:38Speaker 1: She needs her flowers every Thursday. You have to play
- 1:44Speaker 1: with the stick. It's a it's a it's a bit. Yeah,
- 1:49Speaker 1: it's a bit.
- 1:50Speaker 3: She has some company at the top this week, though.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Does she We'll find that out later in the show.
- 1:54Speaker 5: You're fishing for compliments right now?
- 1:58Speaker 1: Wow?
- 1:59Speaker 3: I like it. Okay, I didn't go the way Fred
- 2:01Speaker 3: dot Bro.
- 2:02Speaker 1: But you know, for me, it's no big thing anyway.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Alex and Matt Lebooth and we'll be talking Patriots and
- 2:12Speaker 1: what do we have? What's what's what news do we
- 2:14Speaker 1: have since we ended the show yesterday at two o'clock?
- 2:17Speaker 6: Injuries?
- 2:18Speaker 7: How about an extensive Carolina Panthers injury report? All of
- 2:21Speaker 7: their main receivers and their top tight end are all.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Are they scared on the list?
- 2:26Speaker 4: I don't if they're scared, they might just.
- 2:30Speaker 1: It might just be injured, like oh my arms. But
- 2:33Speaker 1: tests on that list too.
- 2:35Speaker 8: Yeah, Ted, I think is really the one that matters
- 2:37Speaker 8: the rest of them. They're replaceable players. But Ted calf injury.
- 2:41Speaker 8: Didn't practice at all yesterday, so we'll see if he's
- 2:44Speaker 8: out there for them today. But I said it yesterday.
- 2:47Speaker 8: If they don't have Ted, I don't know where Bryce
- 2:49Speaker 8: Young's throwing the ball in this game. Like he's really
- 2:51Speaker 8: their whole passing offense right now. And if he doesn't
- 2:54Speaker 8: play in this game on Sunday, then the Patriots defense
- 2:57Speaker 8: better better shut him down.
- 3:00Speaker 6: Honestly, like that that would be doesn't.
- 3:02Speaker 4: Want to hear it. If Evan doesn't want to hear it.
- 3:04Speaker 8: Yeah, Like that's a really really limited Panthers offense if
- 3:08Speaker 8: they don't have.
- 3:09Speaker 7: Ten Yeah, I mean, and even you know Legett hasn't
- 3:12Speaker 7: done anything, but he was out of practice too. They
- 3:14Speaker 7: rested Hunter Renfro and Jatavian Sanders, who's you know, had
- 3:17Speaker 7: some catches for them, especially at the end of that
- 3:19Speaker 7: Cardinals game.
- 3:20Speaker 4: He was out too.
- 3:21Speaker 3: So he's the second on the list behind and UH and.
- 3:24Speaker 7: DJ want them to who's uh, doesn't have a sack yet,
- 3:27Speaker 7: but has some pressures.
- 3:28Speaker 4: So he's one of their one of their guys trying
- 3:30Speaker 4: to get up to the quarterback.
- 3:31Speaker 7: So I don't know, maybe we'll get back to those days, Paul,
- 3:33Speaker 7: where it all works out for the Patriots.
- 3:35Speaker 4: A lot of those want to stand one of those in.
- 3:38Speaker 4: It's been too nice. It'd be nice to have that.
- 3:40Speaker 7: Now they're completely decimated by injuries. Let's let's just take
- 3:43Speaker 7: the dub.
- 3:43Speaker 5: Well, Panthers fans don't even want to play.
- 3:46Speaker 8: They don't want I don't think Panthers fans want to win.
- 3:48Speaker 8: If I mean, if I was a Panthers fan, I
- 3:50Speaker 8: wouldn't want to win.
- 3:51Speaker 5: Well, the ones who do want to.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Why because they want to get playing? Yes, and who
- 3:55Speaker 1: do they have their eyes on? Or who would you
- 3:57Speaker 1: have your eyes on?
- 3:59Speaker 3: It a quarterback?
- 3:59Speaker 1: Or they given up?
- 4:01Speaker 5: But you know, probably not.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Okay, So the one what what are they thanking.
- 4:04Speaker 8: For baying from Miami pass rusher? Maybe yeah, they got
- 4:09Speaker 8: Clemson's got a couple guys on the defensive line too. Uh,
- 4:12Speaker 8: they don't really have much of a pass rush, so
- 4:14Speaker 8: I'd have to imagine that that's I think they're thirtieth
- 4:18Speaker 8: in the league right now in pressure rate.
- 4:19Speaker 6: They have one sack in three games.
- 4:21Speaker 8: So yeah, if you're trying, if you're trying to build
- 4:24Speaker 8: something there in Carolina, I would think it would be.
- 4:26Speaker 3: But if you if you were a Panther Span and
- 4:29Speaker 3: we actually have one in the building, well not anymore.
- 4:33Speaker 3: He can't he cut ties?
- 4:34Speaker 4: Yeah, he cut tie.
- 4:37Speaker 5: Breaking point, you.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Know, just you know, one of the guys that we
- 4:41Speaker 3: work with and that I don't want to out him
- 4:42Speaker 3: just in case he doesn't want anybody to know that.
- 4:44Speaker 3: So but if you were a Panther Span, would you
- 4:48Speaker 3: rather what Evan said? And sort of you know, all right,
- 4:51Speaker 3: you know, we get a high draft pick, we can
- 4:53Speaker 3: bolster our defense a little bit. Or would you rather
- 4:55Speaker 3: have Bryce Young catch fire and you know, really established
- 5:00Speaker 3: that he is the quarterback and maybe you go, well,
- 5:03Speaker 3: I don't know, eight or nine wins, you know, middle
- 5:05Speaker 3: of the road, would that progression be good? Or would
- 5:09Speaker 3: you rather have Evans? You know, we've got to continue
- 5:11Speaker 3: to rebuild with high draft picks.
- 5:12Speaker 7: I think Brycelon will always be limited because of his size,
- 5:16Speaker 7: But if he did catch fire, that's the hardest piece
- 5:18Speaker 7: to find.
- 5:18Speaker 4: So you probably would take the quarterback.
- 5:21Speaker 7: Personally, I look at him and I think he is
- 5:23Speaker 7: always going to be limited. And what you just hate
- 5:25Speaker 7: jumping back into that we don't have a quarterback. We've
- 5:28Speaker 7: got to make sure the right guy and the right
- 5:30Speaker 7: year lines up, and then it actually happens.
- 5:32Speaker 4: So it is a good year for quarterbacks.
- 5:34Speaker 8: So it could be possible like Josh Rosen situation where
- 5:39Speaker 8: they have the number one pick and they just get
- 5:41Speaker 8: Leonora's Sellers or an arch Manning or know, someone like
- 5:44Speaker 8: that is.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Arch Manning wasn't definitely coming out.
- 5:47Speaker 3: He's more than likely not coming out. See, I think
- 5:51Speaker 3: the Mannings are a little different. We'll see they say
- 5:54Speaker 3: that they're not doing something they generally don't mean.
- 5:56Speaker 8: He's getting paid a ton of nil, so he doesn't
- 5:58Speaker 8: necessarily need to rush to the end fell.
- 6:00Speaker 3: But plus he's you know, yeah, not exactly wondering where
- 6:03Speaker 3: his next meal is coming from without nil.
- 6:06Speaker 6: Yeah. I just I don't know.
- 6:08Speaker 8: I I hear what you're saying about Bryce Young and
- 6:11Speaker 8: maybe trying to I just don't see it.
- 6:12Speaker 3: Oh No, Just so if I'm a Panthers fan, like hypothetical, you're.
- 6:16Speaker 8: Gonna win this game against the Patriots, and it's going
- 6:18Speaker 8: to be like one of your three or four wins
- 6:20Speaker 8: this season, and then it's like to what end? You know,
- 6:23Speaker 8: That's the way I would look at it, and I
- 6:24Speaker 8: don't mean to be disrespectful to the Panthers, but this.
- 6:28Speaker 4: Team is what I get saying.
- 6:29Speaker 7: The thing that confused me is like if he catches
- 6:31Speaker 7: fire and he's dealing and you know, so that maybe
- 6:33Speaker 7: it changes the scenario.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Strug It's not like they you know, they win a
- 6:38Speaker 3: bunch of thirteen to ten games and they find a
- 6:41Speaker 3: way to win eight or nine games, but you really
- 6:43Speaker 3: don't know about the Q. I'm saying the quarterback is
- 6:45Speaker 3: complete at this time next year, there's no doubt, Like
- 6:48Speaker 3: everybody around the league is an agreement. Bryce Young took
- 6:51Speaker 3: him a while, but he's really established himself as a
- 6:55Speaker 3: starting quarterback that anybody would want. You know, that's the hypothetical.
- 7:00Speaker 3: I agree with Evan. I don't really find that overly realistic.
- 7:03Speaker 3: I think your reasoning is why you can't fix height,
- 7:08Speaker 3: you know, in stature. I just think he's a little
- 7:09Speaker 3: too small.
- 7:10Speaker 7: It's funny with that because having watched some of their
- 7:12Speaker 7: Cardinals games, Tyler is one who's kind of found a
- 7:15Speaker 7: way to stay competitive, maybe partially because he just has
- 7:19Speaker 7: he's more crazy.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Mobile, mobile and more athletics.
- 7:24Speaker 7: Yeah, but he's still been able to make it work.
- 7:26Speaker 7: They're they're still going down that road with the car
- 7:28Speaker 7: agree to a degree. But another team that you feel
- 7:32Speaker 7: like they're always kind of middling and up and down
- 7:35Speaker 7: and can't quite get over the hump.
- 7:36Speaker 4: And I mean they're stuck in a good division right now.
- 7:38Speaker 7: But I do think Jonathan Gannon's done a pretty good
- 7:40Speaker 7: job with with some of the stuff we've seen felt some.
- 7:42Speaker 3: Guys see the Cardinals tonight, I don't want to give
- 7:44Speaker 3: away anything for the picks.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Well, let's talk about the Patriots. Uh participation report from yesterday?
- 7:51Speaker 8: Yeah, no, no, Chase Honor Jared Wilson practice yesterday. Both
- 7:55Speaker 8: of them didn't participate. So Ben Brown probably next man
- 8:00Speaker 8: up at left guard if Jared Wilson can't play, and
- 8:04Speaker 8: then Gonzo limited far more limited to but.
- 8:08Speaker 1: He yeah, he's been usually when not injury related program.
- 8:13Speaker 8: Yeah, so he'll play. But yeah, Gonzo limited again.
- 8:18Speaker 1: But are you surprised that it was he wasn't a
- 8:20Speaker 1: full participant? No, no, no, But.
- 8:24Speaker 8: It's not really not a bad injury report for the
- 8:26Speaker 8: Patriots for only four guys that had any sort of
- 8:30Speaker 8: limitation in practice.
- 8:31Speaker 3: I'm a little concerned with the Jared Wilson situation. Yeah yeah,
- 8:34Speaker 3: but I agree with it, and it's not overly big.
- 8:37Speaker 3: You know, the injury list is a handful of names.
- 8:40Speaker 4: But not We saw him in the locker room yesterday.
- 8:42Speaker 7: He did a one on one with Tommy Current on
- 8:44Speaker 7: the side, Jared Wilson.
- 8:45Speaker 4: I mean, so maybe that's a sign.
- 8:47Speaker 3: I just think a rookie to not practice he's he's hurt. Yeah,
- 8:53Speaker 3: you know what I mean, he's got he's dealing with something.
- 8:55Speaker 3: I'm not telling you that he won't play in the game.
- 8:56Speaker 3: I don't have anything.
- 8:57Speaker 8: Dealing with multiple somethings apparently, yeah on there an ankle
- 9:00Speaker 8: in any.
- 9:01Speaker 3: I mean one thing I say, But do you know
- 9:02Speaker 3: what I'm saying, Like they don't just have rookies not
- 9:04Speaker 3: practice on Wednesdays. Yeah, you know, now just take a rest,
- 9:07Speaker 3: Yeah right.
- 9:09Speaker 7: I think Chase On is a little bit of a
- 9:10Speaker 7: concern though he's an athletic guy. When you look at
- 9:13Speaker 7: going down the depth chart, now, if it's key On White,
- 9:15Speaker 7: Anthony Jennings, like those guys are gonna have tough time
- 9:18Speaker 7: chasing Bryce Young if he breaks the pocket. I think
- 9:21Speaker 7: the plan would probably be to keep him contained, and
- 9:23Speaker 7: maybe those guys will be able to do that. But
- 9:26Speaker 7: that was something last year I remember key On White
- 9:27Speaker 7: kind of struggling with you know, when it's it's don't
- 9:30Speaker 7: just pin your ears back and try to go get
- 9:31Speaker 7: the quarterback and run right through the offensive lineman.
- 9:34Speaker 4: Sometimes that's a challenge for him.
- 9:36Speaker 7: So I do think it'll be a little bit of
- 9:38Speaker 7: a hit if Chase On isn't going to be able
- 9:39Speaker 7: to go.
- 9:40Speaker 4: It's just the first speed and his mobility. He's definitely
- 9:43Speaker 4: the most athletic guy opposite Landry There.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Patriots would be going indoors today for practice. The weather
- 9:49Speaker 1: here in Foxboro is pretty bad today. I checked the
- 9:52Speaker 1: weather for Sunday. There is a chance of rain, but
- 9:55Speaker 1: it looks like it could be ending around noon, so
- 9:59Speaker 1: maybe by game two time it won't be raining.
- 10:03Speaker 4: We like to make it interesting with the fumbles, don't we.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Yeah, a little wet, so there could be rain. You
- 10:08Speaker 1: know that. It changes very quickly here in New England.
- 10:12Speaker 1: But right now it's looking like no rain for game time,
- 10:16Speaker 1: which is a good thing.
- 10:17Speaker 4: Good thing. Yeah, hopefully, hopefully it ends a little eli
- 10:20Speaker 4: than that, gets some tailgate.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Moderate temperature mid sixties.
- 10:23Speaker 3: Get a better walk across the parking lot.
- 10:25Speaker 7: Today, my feet are still sopping wet. I told that,
- 10:29Speaker 7: and I'm gonna start wearing flip flops to work through
- 10:31Speaker 7: the park.
- 10:32Speaker 1: You get here, when I get here, it was fine
- 10:34Speaker 1: your head last night, a little earlier.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Today this morning, it wasn't rain where. It wasn't when
- 10:41Speaker 3: I was, like when I was at seven o'clock, it
- 10:44Speaker 3: was pouring down.
- 10:45Speaker 1: It was drizzling here, but it wasn't really raining that hard.
- 10:48Speaker 4: When I got any gloshes or something.
- 10:50Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 10:50Speaker 4: I just don't have a good rain boots.
- 10:53Speaker 7: There's not really a cool rainbow for dudes to wear, like,
- 10:56Speaker 7: you know, I feel like our friends sailors always got
- 10:58Speaker 7: those little like rubber shoes you know, that are like
- 11:00Speaker 7: kind of fancy, and there's for girls like always looks
- 11:03Speaker 7: stupid when you're wearing like, you know, the big ass
- 11:06Speaker 7: fishing boots, like stylish rain proof yellow hat.
- 11:15Speaker 6: Forbid, my feet get wet.
- 11:17Speaker 1: We talked about there's nothing more than getting your feet
- 11:20Speaker 1: wet early in the day and having wet socks all day.
- 11:23Speaker 1: That's that's a.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Bad little heater under my desk.
- 11:25Speaker 5: That's bad for it definitely has some waterproof.
- 11:28Speaker 4: That's a good point. Let's talk, brunt.
- 11:29Speaker 3: We need to work where you have you you have
- 11:32Speaker 3: the boots, just wear them.
- 11:33Speaker 4: I wouldn't wear those boots in this though. It's wet
- 11:35Speaker 4: and I don't.
- 11:36Speaker 1: That's the water, the leather though.
- 11:40Speaker 6: Come on, all right, all right, can't lose this game?
- 11:45Speaker 4: Nopee.
- 11:46Speaker 3: Kevin's like, I need to leave in about an hour.
- 11:48Speaker 3: Can we focus? Focus?
- 11:50Speaker 10: All right?
- 11:50Speaker 1: What else?
- 11:51Speaker 6: Can't lose this game? That's it. What I agree with
- 11:54Speaker 6: that is, like, this isn't can't lose this game.
- 11:57Speaker 3: You talked about this on my shoes, Oh Freddy, with
- 12:01Speaker 3: Mike and Tony. I was like this, I can make
- 12:04Speaker 3: excuses like they all played Pittsburgh. They just have themselves
- 12:07Speaker 3: to blame. They drop them. You can't lose this game.
- 12:10Speaker 3: You can't. They have to tighten up the things that
- 12:13Speaker 3: have been costing you points slash games against it. I
- 12:18Speaker 3: think an inferior opponent at home, you have to win
- 12:21Speaker 3: this game. Three and sixteen in the last nineteen home games.
- 12:24Speaker 3: Is that the number?
- 12:25Speaker 6: Yes, it is.
- 12:26Speaker 8: But like this is a take care of if you
- 12:28Speaker 8: want to make any noise this season, like these are
- 12:30Speaker 8: take care of business type of games. Sure, Like I
- 12:32Speaker 8: don't really care what it looks like. Like they could
- 12:34Speaker 8: win this game sixteen to thirteen. It wouldn't be pretty,
- 12:37Speaker 8: but you can't if you want to get to meaningful
- 12:42Speaker 8: football in December and January for this team, Like, I
- 12:45Speaker 8: don't know how you get there if you don't take
- 12:47Speaker 8: care of business again, right, And it's too.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Early to say, well, this is who they are, you know,
- 12:51Speaker 1: it's too early for that. But we're getting there. You know,
- 12:53Speaker 1: a few more weeks we'll be able to say, Okay,
- 12:58Speaker 1: we have a we can start defining this team a
- 13:01Speaker 1: little bit.
- 13:02Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean I would just say I do think
- 13:04Speaker 7: it would hurt though if it's they make a bunch
- 13:05Speaker 7: of more turnovers and they like win in spite of
- 13:08Speaker 7: making all the same mistakes that they've been And.
- 13:11Speaker 3: I understand Evan's point, like a win is a win
- 13:13Speaker 3: and that is the bottom line, But I would not
- 13:15Speaker 3: feel great about it if it was.
- 13:16Speaker 6: No, I wouldn't feel great about it.
- 13:18Speaker 3: A clunky one, but it's on to the next.
- 13:20Speaker 8: Like this Panthers team has a lot of holes, on
- 13:23Speaker 8: their roster, Like the Patriots have a better team than
- 13:26Speaker 8: the Panthers.
- 13:27Speaker 6: They do, and they have a better quarterback. I think
- 13:29Speaker 6: they have a better coach.
- 13:30Speaker 4: Does this feel weird?
- 13:31Speaker 7: It feels weird to me, Like saying all this, I
- 13:33Speaker 7: think it's making me nervous talking because I don't think
- 13:35Speaker 7: we've talked about a game like this, and I don't
- 13:37Speaker 7: remember the last time.
- 13:38Speaker 3: Well, and when we do, they've lost. You know, it's
- 13:41Speaker 3: like Jacksonville in London last there you go, or Tennessee
- 13:45Speaker 3: last year. You know, those kinds of games.
- 13:47Speaker 8: But I don't know if you had at that time
- 13:51Speaker 8: the quarterback and coach advantage that you have now over
- 13:54Speaker 8: a team like Carolina, Like we didn't really know if
- 13:58Speaker 8: Gerrod was going to be a good coach at that point.
- 14:00Speaker 8: We didn't really know if Drake was going to be
- 14:01Speaker 8: good at that I.
- 14:02Speaker 3: Was talking in terms of the yeah.
- 14:04Speaker 8: And I you know this one, like I'm already like
- 14:06Speaker 8: pre mad if they lose this game, because like this is.
- 14:10Speaker 1: We talked about it yesterday. We talked about it yesterday.
- 14:13Speaker 1: But Calvin and Saint Albans England rights and he says,
- 14:16Speaker 1: I didn't hear much about the Panthers win on Sunday,
- 14:18Speaker 1: but a team that wins thirty to nothing has to
- 14:20Speaker 1: be doing something right. What's been keeping Rabel up at
- 14:23Speaker 1: night as he gets ready for Sunday.
- 14:25Speaker 8: Well, dirty kickoffs, that's what we're that's what we're getting
- 14:29Speaker 8: to try to find something that they do well.
- 14:32Speaker 3: And Fred, I'm glad you brought that up, ev because
- 14:35Speaker 3: you had a question for me yesterday and I didn't
- 14:36Speaker 3: have the answer to you know, he was talking because
- 14:39Speaker 3: Rabel spoke about the kickoff team is keeping him up
- 14:43Speaker 3: watching two hours of film because they've been so effective,
- 14:46Speaker 3: you know, pinning team's average starting position for opponents for
- 14:50Speaker 3: the Panthers through three weeks is the twenty one yard line.
- 14:52Speaker 1: That's good.
- 14:53Speaker 3: So that's that's really good in this in this day
- 14:55Speaker 3: and age. With the thirty five yard touchback and all
- 14:59Speaker 3: the returns.
- 14:59Speaker 1: That's because if their average return is sixteen yards, that
- 15:02Speaker 1: means you know, they are kicking you know, inside the five.
- 15:05Speaker 1: So that's a that's a good coverage unit.
- 15:07Speaker 3: I guess the key has been what Evan said, that
- 15:09Speaker 3: dirty kickoff where they making the returner field it on bounce,
- 15:14Speaker 3: on the bounce and not necessarily always fielding it properly.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Yeah, but that that means that kicker has a good
- 15:21Speaker 1: accuracy because easily those balls can bounce out of bounds,
- 15:24Speaker 1: you know, you end up on.
- 15:25Speaker 6: The forty or it's all the kicker.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Yeah, it's all the kicker. And good kicker is good.
- 15:30Speaker 8: At kickoffs, like that's what because you have to land
- 15:33Speaker 8: it in the landing zone too, so you can't truly
- 15:35Speaker 8: squib it right. You have to get some air under
- 15:37Speaker 8: it to get it into the landing zone and then
- 15:39Speaker 8: have it bounce.
- 15:41Speaker 3: So they did.
- 15:42Speaker 8: Frable said they spend yet two hours of film on
- 15:45Speaker 8: Tuesday night trying to come up with how they're going
- 15:47Speaker 8: to handle that. And I'm Jeremy Springer is going to
- 15:49Speaker 8: talk here in thirty minutes, and I'm sure that's going
- 15:51Speaker 8: to be all the questions are going to be about it,
- 15:53Speaker 8: So that that's a big part of them. And they
- 15:57Speaker 8: turn the ball over on defense. They have produced some
- 16:00Speaker 8: turnovers on defense, certainly against Penix last week, had two
- 16:03Speaker 8: picks on Penix. So if you're looking for how they
- 16:06Speaker 8: won thirty to nothing, I did turnovers.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Yeah, and it wasn't their offense. I mean, let's be
- 16:10Speaker 1: you know, Bryce Young had one hundred and twenty yards throwing.
- 16:15Speaker 1: That's not usually what happens when you scored thirty points.
- 16:18Speaker 1: You know, they scored other ways.
- 16:20Speaker 8: Yeah, they had a pick six and then they also
- 16:22Speaker 8: had an interception return that went into deep into Atlanta territory.
- 16:27Speaker 6: You know, they.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Otherwise known as twenty twenty one Patriots offense.
- 16:30Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I felt like twenty twenty two.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Yeah, So we're not We're not too worried about the
- 16:37Speaker 1: offensive power, but we're worried about, you know, our starting
- 16:41Speaker 1: position and kickoffs, and we're worried about their defense a
- 16:44Speaker 1: little bit.
- 16:45Speaker 7: I just think these are two teams that are in
- 16:47Speaker 7: the same part of the league, I mean, trying to
- 16:49Speaker 7: prove themselves and climb out of the lower third, and these.
- 16:52Speaker 4: Kind of games just I think come down to mistakes
- 16:54Speaker 4: and those.
- 16:55Speaker 7: I mean, you saw it last week with Atlanta's game,
- 16:57Speaker 7: or they were game against Atlanta.
- 16:58Speaker 4: You saw with the Patriots last week.
- 16:59Speaker 7: When the teams Brable talks about bad football, which team
- 17:02Speaker 7: is going to take advantage of bad football? Last week,
- 17:04Speaker 7: the Steelers took advantage of the Patriots bad football.
- 17:07Speaker 4: So that to me is the bottom line.
- 17:09Speaker 7: Just try to force them into mistakes and then when
- 17:12Speaker 7: you get them, take advantage of them.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Yeah, Jordan says, I understand people's reservations on Young because
- 17:17Speaker 1: of his a typical size, but he's pretty good creator
- 17:19Speaker 1: on the move and throws over the middle quite well,
- 17:22Speaker 1: much better than Kyler. Actually, the weapons in Carolina aren't
- 17:25Speaker 1: very good, but the old line protected pretty well against
- 17:28Speaker 1: the falcons. Are we writing him off too much? Rice Young?
- 17:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think we're writing him off. I just
- 17:35Speaker 3: don't know if he's going to be taking that next
- 17:38Speaker 3: step toward he's one of the better quarterbacks in the league.
- 17:42Speaker 3: He's established himself. I think there's still going to be
- 17:46Speaker 3: you said it, Mike, there's still questions about Kyler Murray,
- 17:49Speaker 3: whether or not he is actually worth continuing to build around.
- 17:54Speaker 3: And I don't think that Bryce Young has gotten to
- 17:57Speaker 3: a level that even Kyler Murray has. I agree with
- 18:00Speaker 3: the description, though, I think Evan talked about that on Tuesday.
- 18:04Speaker 3: I think does maybe yesterday about the middle of the field.
- 18:07Speaker 3: He's he is effective throwing in the middle, and he
- 18:10Speaker 3: can get off platform and make places he kind of
- 18:13Speaker 3: has to.
- 18:14Speaker 8: I don't see the off platform thing. I think he
- 18:18Speaker 8: definitely can throw to the middle of the field, and
- 18:20Speaker 8: he's a quick processor underneath and gets the ball out
- 18:23Speaker 8: pretty quickly, so that that's really their game. And the
- 18:26Speaker 8: catch and run throws, especially the teed have been there
- 18:29Speaker 8: a little bit so far to start the season. But
- 18:32Speaker 8: I don't see him as like this off script, off
- 18:36Speaker 8: platform type of guy because he doesn't have the arm
- 18:39Speaker 8: talent for it, so like when he gets outside the pocket,
- 18:43Speaker 8: I just don't really see him making throws down the
- 18:45Speaker 8: field from outside the pocket very often. Now, he did
- 18:49Speaker 8: run for a touchdown in the red zone last week,
- 18:52Speaker 8: but it was like, I don't know, like a five
- 18:54Speaker 8: yard touchdown run or something like that, so you know
- 18:57Speaker 8: there is some element of that. But he if you
- 18:59Speaker 8: like him throw in rhythm to the middle of the field,
- 19:03Speaker 8: he can be effective. But if you take that away,
- 19:05Speaker 8: I don't really know what else they have.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Stacey says. The Panthers seem to struggle to stop the
- 19:10Speaker 1: run so far this year, and Bryce Sung has had
- 19:12Speaker 1: trouble against the sguised defensive coverage. With that said, offensively,
- 19:17Speaker 1: do you think the Patriots will primarily rely on the
- 19:19Speaker 1: ground game? And defensively through three games, the Patriots have
- 19:22Speaker 1: leaned on zone coverage. But with Gonzo being back, do
- 19:25Speaker 1: you think they'll focus more on mixing up the defensive looks?
- 19:29Speaker 1: So ground game a lot of that ground and pound.
- 19:31Speaker 4: I mean, I wouldn't say a lot.
- 19:33Speaker 7: I just say, you know, continue to try to stay balanced,
- 19:36Speaker 7: don't get one handed, and you know, just try to
- 19:38Speaker 7: throw the ball all over the field.
- 19:39Speaker 4: I mean, there's just as.
- 19:40Speaker 7: Much reason to want to attack their passing game as
- 19:43Speaker 7: there is their rushing attack.
- 19:45Speaker 4: Not a great team.
- 19:46Speaker 7: The defensive stats you can look across, there's plenty to target,
- 19:49Speaker 7: So just focus on yourself and executing your offense and
- 19:52Speaker 7: doing what you want to do. Man coverage wise, I
- 19:55Speaker 7: just do they have the talent that's necessarily going to
- 19:58Speaker 7: make you want to play matchups or can you you
- 20:00Speaker 7: just say our dbs are better than their receivers. Let's
- 20:03Speaker 7: just play sides and you know, not get not get
- 20:06Speaker 7: over complicated with it.
- 20:07Speaker 4: But I'm sure.
- 20:08Speaker 7: I mean, they'll always mix a man in Caroline is
- 20:10Speaker 7: a heavy z own team too, Drake seen a lot
- 20:12Speaker 7: of that, So.
- 20:13Speaker 8: They've played a lot more man. The Patriots have played
- 20:15Speaker 8: a lot more man over the last two weeks than
- 20:17Speaker 8: they did in the opener, So those numbers are starting
- 20:20Speaker 8: to to skew back to where you might expect based
- 20:23Speaker 8: off of their personnel with them playing more man to man.
- 20:26Speaker 8: So I don't know if that is. You know, the
- 20:30Speaker 8: numbers might still be a little bit. We're only working
- 20:32Speaker 8: with the three game sample size, so I would say
- 20:35Speaker 8: that they've played more man, especially against Pittsburgh where it
- 20:39Speaker 8: was Carlon Davis on DK and Marcus Jones on Calvin Austin.
- 20:42Speaker 3: That was the game.
- 20:43Speaker 6: I noticed, Yeah, that that was really it.
- 20:45Speaker 8: So I could see it though this week playing a
- 20:48Speaker 8: lot more man again because like I keep saying, it's
- 20:52Speaker 8: really Ted that scares you. And even with Carlon Davis,
- 20:55Speaker 8: I feel like he matches up pretty well against Ted
- 20:58Speaker 8: and it can probably play well.
- 20:59Speaker 1: We need to know what how many reps they plan
- 21:04Speaker 1: for Ganzo. Is he going to be a full participant
- 21:06Speaker 1: in the game or is he just going to do
- 21:08Speaker 1: spot duty?
- 21:09Speaker 3: Yeah, see, I would think he's a full participant in
- 21:11Speaker 3: the game if he's active for the game. I don't
- 21:15Speaker 3: know that corner is not generally a position. You do
- 21:18Speaker 3: that a lot. If you look back at like the
- 21:23Speaker 3: snap counts after every game, the two starting corners are
- 21:28Speaker 3: either at one hundred or they maybe had a like
- 21:30Speaker 3: a short yardage play that one or one or two
- 21:32Speaker 3: of them came off the field. They generally play one hundred.
- 21:35Speaker 3: That the starting corners play one hundred percent of the snaps. Yeah,
- 21:38Speaker 3: Now maybe you want to say, well, we're not going
- 21:41Speaker 3: to have him in the starting lineup, We're going to
- 21:43Speaker 3: have him as a third corner. I don't think that
- 21:45Speaker 3: makes a lot of sense with him. I think if
- 21:47Speaker 3: he's good enough to play, and I think he's going
- 21:50Speaker 3: to be one hundred percent if he plays, so I
- 21:53Speaker 3: would I would have him out there as much as
- 21:56Speaker 3: he can take. In terms of his conditioning, like Mike
- 21:59Speaker 3: talked about, Yes, I mean that that would need to
- 22:01Speaker 3: be monitored, but I wouldn't go in with an idea
- 22:04Speaker 3: of well, I'm gonna have him on third downs, Like,
- 22:09Speaker 3: I would have him ready to play full time, and
- 22:12Speaker 3: then if he you know, if he's tired or whatever,
- 22:14Speaker 3: he needs a blow, then you give him a rest.
- 22:17Speaker 7: Especially with Buffalo waiting next week, like to get him
- 22:20Speaker 7: as much experience and snaps as you can to to
- 22:23Speaker 7: try to prepare a little bit for that matchup.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Okay, Terrence from Colt's Territory says a longtime listener has
- 22:31Speaker 1: questions for each of us except for Alex. I'm sorry
- 22:35Speaker 1: they left you out, he says. Fred. What's the scene
- 22:38Speaker 1: like in Tampa Bay? The wife and I will be
- 22:40Speaker 1: there for the game against the Bucks. Any good eating
- 22:42Speaker 1: spots or team events. I mean, I don't know, as
- 22:46Speaker 1: it is.
- 22:46Speaker 6: My first trip to Tampa Bay.
- 22:47Speaker 11: Actually Elite press box, but like, if you know Barryon,
- 22:52Speaker 11: siong or anyone out there knows of any parties going
- 22:55Speaker 11: on in Tampa Bay, let us know and we'll pass
- 22:58Speaker 11: along the news.
- 23:00Speaker 1: If you can get a reservation for Burns. It's one
- 23:02Speaker 1: of the best steakhouses in the country. Uh so I
- 23:05Speaker 1: would always recommend that cover that. I don't even know
- 23:10Speaker 1: if your salary.
- 23:16Speaker 12: There's some good coffee shops. Yeah, a coffee shop called Grove.
- 23:20Speaker 12: It got destroyed by like one of the most recent hurricanes.
- 23:23Speaker 12: I don't know if they've rebuilt, but good coffee shops.
- 23:26Speaker 1: I mean I used to go to school there, but
- 23:28Speaker 1: that was forty years ago, so everything's changed.
- 23:31Speaker 3: You went to like Mon's Venus though, when you went
- 23:33Speaker 3: to Never, No Never, No Never. Dude, are you speaking
- 23:39Speaker 3: of Elite Dude?
- 23:41Speaker 1: Are you confident the secretary secondary will turn things around
- 23:44Speaker 1: when Gonzo comes.
- 23:45Speaker 3: Backh ish Ish very paul like response.
- 23:50Speaker 7: Yeah, I just I mean, I want to see Craig
- 23:53Speaker 7: Woodson develop, and you know, I want to see Jalen
- 23:56Speaker 7: Hawkins kind of fit into his role.
- 23:59Speaker 4: But I mean, I've fel it'll be better.
- 24:00Speaker 7: I just I don't know how it's all going to
- 24:03Speaker 7: flush out with Charles Woods Marcus Jones. You know, once
- 24:06Speaker 7: they settle into what they've got, but if they keep
- 24:09Speaker 7: getting pressure up front, I don't I don't think it
- 24:11Speaker 7: matters all that much.
- 24:12Speaker 4: So I'm not worried, but I want to see what
- 24:14Speaker 4: it looks like.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Evan. Yes, well, adding Chisholm and giving Henderson more carries
- 24:19Speaker 1: make the offense more dynamic.
- 24:21Speaker 8: More dynamic, Yeah, that's the question. Adding Chishm is not
- 24:25Speaker 8: going to make the offense more dynamic. It might make
- 24:27Speaker 8: them more situationally aware, like you know, it might make
- 24:31Speaker 8: them more detailed, but I don't think it's going to
- 24:35Speaker 8: make them more explosive, like that's not his game.
- 24:38Speaker 1: But about more reliable.
- 24:39Speaker 8: Oh sure, Yeah, I think we're on the same page there. Yeah,
- 24:43Speaker 8: Like I think fourth and one with the game on
- 24:45Speaker 8: the line, like this chishom just charged forward and pick
- 24:47Speaker 8: up the first down.
- 24:49Speaker 6: Maybe.
- 24:50Speaker 12: Yeah, I have a question, Okay, why are I feel
- 24:53Speaker 12: like all the narrative with the receiving core is like,
- 24:57Speaker 12: get Chisholm more involved.
- 24:58Speaker 5: Why not Kyle Williams or Digs Hmm.
- 25:03Speaker 6: Interesting, Yeah, it's a valid point.
- 25:05Speaker 4: Williams. Yeah, I like it.
- 25:07Speaker 5: Like Chisholm's the buzzword receiver right now, the.
- 25:14Speaker 4: Unknown like the summer boom. We had that summer flame
- 25:17Speaker 4: within Chisholm and man, it was going great.
- 25:19Speaker 8: And you know, I just like to see something season archetype,
- 25:22Speaker 8: and he fits fits the suit of what they.
- 25:27Speaker 4: Think.
- 25:27Speaker 8: He's the next Edelman or Amondola, and they want to
- 25:29Speaker 8: see him play. And I I think that there's some
- 25:32Speaker 8: truth to the fact that he plays like those guys
- 25:34Speaker 8: Like I'm not trying to, like, you know, say that
- 25:36Speaker 8: there's no evidence of that whatsoever. But I think what
- 25:39Speaker 8: we're seeing with Trevon Henderson, like to the email or
- 25:42Speaker 8: like it's doing it against backups in the preseason is
- 25:44Speaker 8: not the same as doing it on Sundays in September.
- 25:47Speaker 6: It's just it's a different game.
- 25:49Speaker 1: People, And you're right, but people just want to see.
- 25:52Speaker 8: Sure, you know Kenny do it, but you know Henderson
- 25:54Speaker 8: had a big game in Minnesota too against their backups,
- 25:57Speaker 8: and Chisholm had a huge game against their backups. And
- 26:00Speaker 8: then Henderson's gotten into the regular season and it's not
- 26:03Speaker 8: been the same.
- 26:03Speaker 1: And to Alex's point, Kyle Williams and Diggs are there
- 26:08Speaker 1: out of the.
- 26:12Speaker 5: I don't want to leave Booty out of it either.
- 26:14Speaker 12: I feel like him and Diggs have been really reliable
- 26:17Speaker 12: when you need them to make a play, and so
- 26:20Speaker 12: we can't give him a little more.
- 26:21Speaker 1: I mean, Paul did the wide receiver stats yesterday. It's
- 26:25Speaker 1: clear that, you know, we need to get our wide
- 26:27Speaker 1: receivers more productive. It can't all be tight ends uh
- 26:31Speaker 1: and throws out of the backfield to running backs. So
- 26:36Speaker 1: I think that's a maybe a point of emphasis for Josh.
- 26:39Speaker 6: I'd like to see Kyle Williams.
- 26:41Speaker 8: I think that the little that we have seen of him,
- 26:45Speaker 8: I've liked the routes that he's been running. I think
- 26:47Speaker 8: he's getting open and uh, you know, adds a speed
- 26:51Speaker 8: and more dynamic outside the numbers element that they don't
- 26:54Speaker 8: really get out of Hollins or Booty. So I would
- 26:57Speaker 8: like to see more Kyle Williams specific.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Those three guys, Booty Williams and Diggs, every time they've
- 27:04Speaker 3: thrown the ball to them or every time they've been involved,
- 27:06Speaker 3: is that they've generally done what they were supposed to do.
- 27:10Speaker 3: You can make an argument with Douglas and with Hollands
- 27:14Speaker 3: it hasn't always looked great when those guys have been involved.
- 27:17Speaker 3: So you have three guys that seemingly are doing what
- 27:21Speaker 3: they're supposed to do. I would like to see what
- 27:23Speaker 3: it looks like when they get those guys more involved
- 27:26Speaker 3: rather than you know, wholesale changes in and out. Now
- 27:29Speaker 3: chishom goes in and Douglas goes out. It's fine. Douglas
- 27:33Speaker 3: hasn't been overly productive. So if you think Chisholm can do,
- 27:36Speaker 3: you know, as a you know, fourth or fifth option,
- 27:39Speaker 3: more than what Douglas is doing, then I don't. I
- 27:41Speaker 3: wouldn't have any opposition to see in what it looks like.
- 27:44Speaker 7: You think the coaching staff like waits a certain amount
- 27:47Speaker 7: of time before they really start to think about making changes,
- 27:51Speaker 7: giving players enough of a sample size too.
- 27:53Speaker 4: This guy might be up and down Chishm.
- 27:55Speaker 3: In particular, and I thought it was interesting some of
- 27:57Speaker 3: the stuff that I read because I was not in
- 27:59Speaker 3: on Evan. You might have been last time we had
- 28:02Speaker 3: offensive coaches. I think Todd Downing talked about he's not
- 28:06Speaker 3: really ready yet, like they're working with him on the
- 28:09Speaker 3: outside a little bit, trying to get.
- 28:11Speaker 6: Him more versatile.
- 28:12Speaker 3: Yeah, so it's coming. I think that I don't think
- 28:15Speaker 3: that they've like closed the door on Eft and Chisholm.
- 28:17Speaker 3: I just don't feel like they think he's ready yet.
- 28:20Speaker 13: Ye.
- 28:20Speaker 6: Yeah. I think it's more about versatility.
- 28:22Speaker 8: Like he's a slot only player, and so if you
- 28:25Speaker 8: are going to have Pop be your slot guy and
- 28:27Speaker 8: then Diggs is also going to play a little bit
- 28:29Speaker 8: inside Diggs, it's like where, you know, where do the
- 28:32Speaker 8: snaps come? Did you know that from from Chisholm? You know,
- 28:35Speaker 8: where do you play unless you bench Pop?
- 28:38Speaker 6: Like that's really it.
- 28:39Speaker 8: But I think the only thing with the receivers that
- 28:41Speaker 8: stands out to me is they've been very situational. And
- 28:45Speaker 8: I think that that's partially Josh, Like I think he's
- 28:47Speaker 8: always going to kind of be that way, but uh
- 28:50Speaker 8: there you know, Pop is only on the field for
- 28:52Speaker 8: like fifteen percent of their run plays, eighty six percent
- 28:55Speaker 8: of his snaps have been past plays, so now they
- 28:59Speaker 8: would be seven seven percent of his plays have been
- 29:01Speaker 8: past plays. So they're really like they have their run
- 29:04Speaker 8: players and then they have their past players, and that's
- 29:07Speaker 8: like where you're seeing them. You know, divvy up the
- 29:09Speaker 8: snaps between Holland's booty digs and pop.
- 29:12Speaker 3: I'm sorry to interrupted. I think that's a really good point.
- 29:15Speaker 3: If that's an area that they think Chisholm might be
- 29:18Speaker 3: able to help them, I'd be interested in that too,
- 29:21Speaker 3: because he is a little he's more, he gives more
- 29:23Speaker 3: physicality than to Mario Douglas. He's a little bigger, and
- 29:26Speaker 3: he does play, as Vrabel said all summer with with
- 29:30Speaker 3: good play strength. So if he can be on the
- 29:33Speaker 3: field and you can run the ball more when he's
- 29:35Speaker 3: on the field, that could be an advantage for the
- 29:37Speaker 3: offense that you don't get with to Mario Douglas. I again,
- 29:40Speaker 3: I'm curious to see what it looks like too.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Yeah. Final question goes to Paul favorite Drew Bledsoe game.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Mine is the ninety nine comeback against the Colts at
- 29:48Speaker 1: Old Foxboro Stadium. Ben Coates had a monster game.
- 29:53Speaker 3: Oh that's a that's an underrated kind of forgotten that
- 29:57Speaker 3: miracle comeback game. Yeah, that was my second ever game
- 30:01Speaker 3: working for Freddy. I would say, back to my two
- 30:06Speaker 3: favorites of they're back to back games, but I'm going
- 30:08Speaker 3: to go if I have to pick just one, it's
- 30:11Speaker 3: the Miami comeback on a Monday night with the broken
- 30:14Speaker 3: finger and the touchdown passed to Sean Jefferson. Now next
- 30:17Speaker 3: week they did the same thing yep, to Buffalo, but
- 30:20Speaker 3: that was a little fluky because of the pass interference
- 30:22Speaker 3: in the end zone that gave him the untied down
- 30:24Speaker 3: and then he threw the touchdown to Ben Coates to
- 30:26Speaker 3: win the game. It was a back to back weeks.
- 30:29Speaker 3: I know will come back. I was in the stands
- 30:32Speaker 3: bro Okay, I remember those games.
- 30:35Speaker 1: He had literally had a pin drink. He broke his
- 30:40Speaker 1: finger and he had a pinch him. TA came out.
- 30:42Speaker 1: And then in the third sequence of that game, they
- 30:45Speaker 1: went to Saint Louis to play the Rams.
- 30:47Speaker 3: For like three hundred yards, but then came out.
- 30:50Speaker 1: He couldn't have to game the game. They had to
- 30:52Speaker 1: take it out, take him out of the game, but
- 30:54Speaker 1: he was That was a tough performance those three games
- 30:57Speaker 1: by by Paul's Guy surgery though it's yeah, Cody uh
- 31:07Speaker 1: is out of Indianapolis. He says, I don't know if
- 31:10Speaker 1: it's the PTSD from the last few years, but this
- 31:12Speaker 1: game feels trappy. If the strength of Carolina is turning
- 31:15Speaker 1: the ball over on defense, then it seems like they
- 31:18Speaker 1: might be getting New England right at the at the
- 31:20Speaker 1: exact right time. Vrabel has them ready to come out
- 31:23Speaker 1: of the gates quickly. Also, he says he's owed a
- 31:26Speaker 1: T shirt Matt.
- 31:27Speaker 12: Matt, does it feel trappy if Carolina just won a
- 31:31Speaker 12: trap game?
- 31:32Speaker 14: Though?
- 31:32Speaker 1: But can you can you be a team coming off
- 31:35Speaker 1: four wins and track Usually draft games are for good team.
- 31:41Speaker 4: To the bill, but it is where to be.
- 31:43Speaker 3: They forced for five turnovers, so I'm not necessarily willing
- 31:47Speaker 3: to say that that's like, that's what they did last game.
- 31:50Speaker 3: It's like the Patriots. Are the Patriots turnover prolane? Or
- 31:52Speaker 3: do they turn it over five times last game? I
- 31:54Speaker 3: mean we're hoping.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Well, that's what I said. It's too early to define
- 32:00Speaker 1: a team as who they are ye going into week four?
- 32:03Speaker 7: Yeah, No, that's and that goes back to like, at
- 32:05Speaker 7: what point do you say it's too early to start
- 32:08Speaker 7: to make changes? We need to give guys a little
- 32:10Speaker 7: bit of leeway to make some mistakes and maybe have
- 32:12Speaker 7: a bad game and then bounce back from it, rather
- 32:14Speaker 7: than right out of the gate game three, you don't
- 32:17Speaker 7: play well, you have a couple drops or turnovers to whatever.
- 32:19Speaker 3: Age when you're one and two, there's not a trap game.
- 32:23Speaker 3: I mean they might. I'm not telling you they cannot
- 32:25Speaker 3: lose this game, like they physically can't better not, but
- 32:29Speaker 3: it's not going to because if it's a trap game, yeah, no,
- 32:31Speaker 3: Like they're one and two and they've won three of
- 32:34Speaker 3: their last nineteen home games.
- 32:36Speaker 7: Now, and that's I mean, it just feels weird to
- 32:38Speaker 7: be the favorite and to say like we have to win.
- 32:40Speaker 7: That's what feels weird to me, not that it's like
- 32:41Speaker 7: a trap game like that. There's a tiny bit of expectation.
- 32:44Speaker 3: Buffalo's hosting New Orleans this week.
- 32:48Speaker 6: They're looking ahead to the Patriot.
- 32:49Speaker 3: I don't care who, they're just looking ahead to what.
- 32:52Speaker 6: Happened Buffalo team is, do you know what I'm saying?
- 32:54Speaker 3: Like that would be a trap if they were to
- 32:56Speaker 3: lose at home to New Orleans. They suffered you know,
- 33:00Speaker 3: teen and a half point favorites, right, that's a trap game.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Buffalo might be the new team that plays home every week.
- 33:06Speaker 4: Then is starting to feel like it that offense.
- 33:08Speaker 6: I watched that tape this morning, Dolph.
- 33:11Speaker 1: All just like Paul tries to take me seriously.
- 33:14Speaker 3: No, I'm actually thinking because like the Denver one is hilarious.
- 33:17Speaker 3: It gets me. It makes me laught literally every time.
- 33:20Speaker 3: But sometimes you do those and like they've been on
- 33:23Speaker 3: the road three weeks ago or something like that. But
- 33:25Speaker 3: I was like, who the Buffalo play last week?
- 33:27Speaker 1: They played at home at night?
- 33:29Speaker 6: Right, I think against Miami.
- 33:30Speaker 3: Played at home against Miami on the Thursday night.
- 33:32Speaker 6: It was Monday night.
- 33:33Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, eight five five pats on the hot one.
- 33:37Speaker 1: I literally just watched it, Okay, literally, Yeah, let's go
- 33:42Speaker 1: to Brad in Ohio. What's up Brad.
- 33:49Speaker 6: Thursday night?
- 33:51Speaker 15: You have me either way observation in questions here for you.
- 33:58Speaker 15: First of all, one of the things it's kind of
- 34:00Speaker 15: been alarming, as the Trevion Henderson usage and the way
- 34:07Speaker 15: calling seems redundant when he's in there. And so I'm
- 34:12Speaker 15: a little bit concerned because every time I got touched.
- 34:14Speaker 16: As the ball he gets I mean like it really hard.
- 34:19Speaker 15: And then as pass blogging obviously been a question, you know, and.
- 34:23Speaker 16: He's supposed to be good at that, and I felt
- 34:25Speaker 16: like Donovan Edwards was the same kind of player. So
- 34:29Speaker 16: I'm wondering about that pick at the second round pick,
- 34:32Speaker 16: I mean, considering what we've seen so far. And then
- 34:37Speaker 16: I wondered if Fan and Junior I mean not to
- 34:40Speaker 16: be hypothetical, but seemed like tight in depth might be
- 34:43Speaker 16: something we have a problem with too. And then I
- 34:45Speaker 16: agree with Alex completely that we should start incorporating Williams
- 34:52Speaker 16: into the offense more. I mean, the guys delite and
- 34:57Speaker 16: we're not even giving him a chance to play. I
- 35:00Speaker 16: think he should take I hate to say this pops
- 35:02Speaker 16: place earlier on the So what do you guys think
- 35:06Speaker 16: about that?
- 35:06Speaker 1: All right?
- 35:07Speaker 3: Thanks?
- 35:07Speaker 1: Well, the first thing ish Trevion Henderson's usage.
- 35:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I mean I agree that I'd like
- 35:15Speaker 4: to see him be able to get into space a
- 35:16Speaker 4: little bit more.
- 35:17Speaker 7: I mean, we were watching that game last week and
- 35:18Speaker 7: felt like he was taking a ton of contact that
- 35:22Speaker 7: doesn't really seem slippery inside the hole, like just seems
- 35:25Speaker 7: like he.
- 35:25Speaker 4: Kind of goes just straightforward, lowers the shoulder.
- 35:29Speaker 7: I mean, I like the physicality that he tries to
- 35:30Speaker 7: play with, but it's concerning that he's going to hold
- 35:33Speaker 7: up just say he's a rookie. It's been three games.
- 35:35Speaker 7: I think Josh is creative. There's going to be a
- 35:37Speaker 7: chance for him to make some plays going forward. But
- 35:40Speaker 7: I agree with the general sentiment that a lot of
- 35:42Speaker 7: and I think I saw his carry chart two where
- 35:43Speaker 7: it was all just kind of the same kind of
- 35:45Speaker 7: carries off to the left side of the line, So
- 35:48Speaker 7: I mean they've.
- 35:48Speaker 4: Been trying to get screens going too, it's just he's been.
- 35:50Speaker 3: Aware of that is a little different. The second half
- 35:52Speaker 3: of the game against Pittsburgh, to me, is not necessarily
- 35:56Speaker 3: like he was the guy the other two guys run
- 36:00Speaker 3: on the bench after frumbling and he was taking the
- 36:03Speaker 3: regular early down carries and Henderson is not generally in
- 36:07Speaker 3: my this is just my opinion. I don't think he's
- 36:09Speaker 3: in between the tackles, consistent between the tackles option, but
- 36:12Speaker 3: he had to get the regular run plays like as
- 36:15Speaker 3: Evan always talks about, like you know, the gap and
- 36:17Speaker 3: duos and all the you know, that's I don't think
- 36:19Speaker 3: that's his game. And you guys both pointed out he
- 36:23Speaker 3: was really sort of not seeing it really well and
- 36:27Speaker 3: running like right into the first tackler that he could
- 36:29Speaker 3: find and trying to like punish guys. I don't think
- 36:33Speaker 3: that suits him, but I don't necessarily look at that
- 36:37Speaker 3: as like, what's Josh McDaniel's doing. They had no choice
- 36:39Speaker 3: last week. They had to adjust on the fly. They
- 36:41Speaker 3: decided Stevenson and Gibson weren't getting any more carries. Yeah,
- 36:45Speaker 3: and that's why I think he ended up with eleven
- 36:47Speaker 3: carries in that game. Yeah.
- 36:48Speaker 7: I mean, I think it's important to remember too that
- 36:50Speaker 7: even though Trevan Henderson came in with a lot of
- 36:52Speaker 7: praise for his pass blocking, remember how long it took
- 36:54Speaker 7: a lot of these guys to develop. You know, James White,
- 36:56Speaker 7: I remember him in the in the twenty fifteen AFC
- 36:59Speaker 7: Championship where he had like fifteen targets only caught like
- 37:01Speaker 7: six of them. It felt like, man, there's what's going
- 37:04Speaker 7: on here. And then of course cut to a year later,
- 37:06Speaker 7: he's a huge part of the offense. He's, you know,
- 37:08Speaker 7: arguably one of the guys that helped them win that
- 37:11Speaker 7: Super Bowl when they came from behind scored points.
- 37:13Speaker 4: So it might take a little time with him, maybe it's.
- 37:16Speaker 7: It's the fault of returning the first kickoff of the preseason,
- 37:19Speaker 7: and expectations were through the roof, and every time we
- 37:22Speaker 7: saw him play this spring or summer, it was like, Wow,
- 37:25Speaker 7: this is impressive.
- 37:26Speaker 3: He glides, he runs at a different level. He has
- 37:29Speaker 3: some electricity to his game, and I think we're all
- 37:31Speaker 3: hoping to see that at some point.
- 37:33Speaker 1: Well, when's the last time we saw a Patriots running
- 37:36Speaker 1: back And I know this was a kickoff, but not
- 37:38Speaker 1: get caught from behind?
- 37:40Speaker 3: I mean Gibson didn't either.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Oh that's true, he did outrun the cover.
- 37:48Speaker 3: Wow, hope.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:50Speaker 8: I don't think Trayvon Henderson's problem is predictability or play
- 37:54Speaker 8: calling or anything like that. Game's moving a little fast
- 37:57Speaker 8: form right now. I think the reads and the processing
- 37:59Speaker 8: and the vision between the tackles is not where it
- 38:03Speaker 8: needs to be yet for him to be, you know,
- 38:07Speaker 8: a workhorse or lead back or whatever you want to
- 38:09Speaker 8: call it. I just don't think he's there yet.
- 38:12Speaker 6: Now.
- 38:13Speaker 8: I do think that there's still a ton of value
- 38:16Speaker 8: in just getting his speed on the field and using
- 38:20Speaker 8: his speed, probably more in the passing game and the
- 38:22Speaker 8: run game. But even if it's just a decoy or something.
- 38:25Speaker 8: Just to have that level of dimension to the offense
- 38:29Speaker 8: I think is important. But he's got a long way
- 38:32Speaker 8: to go as a between the tackles runner, like Paul is.
- 38:34Speaker 3: So in thirty two touches for Stevenson so far in
- 38:37Speaker 3: the season, thirty for Henderson. So like, I know, there's
- 38:39Speaker 3: been a lot of talk and the three of us
- 38:42Speaker 3: have sort of looked at each other like what are
- 38:43Speaker 3: we missing? Like every game the game ends and it's
- 38:46Speaker 3: like they got to get Stevenson the ball more, And
- 38:49Speaker 3: I'm like, did I not see all these these times
- 38:53Speaker 3: that he has the ball in his hands? And I'm
- 38:54Speaker 3: not giving up on him by it. We talked about
- 38:57Speaker 3: this yesterday. When you guys leave us, Fred niet Real
- 38:59Speaker 3: still talk about football. We still talk about football sometimes
- 39:02Speaker 3: when even when you guys leave us just shot and
- 39:05Speaker 3: I'm by far not even thinking about giving up on
- 39:09Speaker 3: this guy. But he has gotten some opportunity so far,
- 39:12Speaker 3: and it's been what's the production has been?
- 39:15Speaker 1: To be kind modest, But let me ask a question,
- 39:18Speaker 1: because we've talked about Henderson, you know, not really seeing
- 39:21Speaker 1: the you know, not having the vision and just running
- 39:24Speaker 1: into the first tackler. I remember youth football. And I
- 39:28Speaker 1: know that's youth football, but like running backs, including myself,
- 39:32Speaker 1: like being yelled at hit the hole. I don't care,
- 39:35Speaker 1: don't you know, just hit the.
- 39:36Speaker 4: Whole foot down and yeah.
- 39:38Speaker 1: And maybe like when you're first starting out, do you
- 39:40Speaker 1: think they're like trust your blockers. And now he hasn't
- 39:44Speaker 1: like freelanced yet, but I wish.
- 39:47Speaker 8: If he would trust his blockers, like he's he's not
- 39:50Speaker 8: being patient enough to let the blocking develop, right, and
- 39:53Speaker 8: he's just going one hundred miles an hour into the
- 39:56Speaker 8: line of scrimmage. Yeah, so if he's gonna just kind
- 39:59Speaker 8: of fall the blocking, I hear what you're saying.
- 40:02Speaker 6: But he's got to tempo the run.
- 40:03Speaker 8: He's got to pace the run better because what he's
- 40:05Speaker 8: doing is he's running into the back of his offensive
- 40:07Speaker 8: lineman before they can even get into the blocks. So,
- 40:11Speaker 8: you know, I was actually talking to Demandre Stevenson about
- 40:14Speaker 8: this a couple of weeks ago, and the differences between
- 40:17Speaker 8: running out of the shotgun and running from what they
- 40:20Speaker 8: call the dot, you know, and the backfield they're under center.
- 40:24Speaker 8: The under center runs typically don't have as much like
- 40:28Speaker 8: freedom to kind of cut and you know, survey and
- 40:31Speaker 8: things like that it's more just get downhill and hit
- 40:35Speaker 8: the hole.
- 40:35Speaker 6: Right.
- 40:35Speaker 8: But if you're gonna do that, there's still like a
- 40:38Speaker 8: pacing to it that you don't want.
- 40:41Speaker 6: You don't want to come out of the blocks at
- 40:42Speaker 6: one hundred miles an hour.
- 40:43Speaker 8: You want to kind of tempo the run so that
- 40:46Speaker 8: the blocking can develop and then hit the hole. So
- 40:49Speaker 8: I think right now for Henderson he's just it's all
- 40:52Speaker 8: moving pretty fast for him, and he's just one hundred
- 40:54Speaker 8: miles an hour with no brakes, and it's just not
- 40:57Speaker 8: developing a lot, not letting the plays develop.
- 40:59Speaker 4: We just see some jump cuts though from him this
- 41:01Speaker 4: summer that I.
- 41:01Speaker 7: Thought, oh yeah, talk about well that's what us excited. Yeah,
- 41:04Speaker 7: he does have that ability.
- 41:06Speaker 1: We know he's got the ability. Yeah, just he's not
- 41:08Speaker 1: doing it yet. Yeah.
- 41:09Speaker 8: The only thing that concerns me a little bit is
- 41:11Speaker 8: that this was the book on him at Ohio State
- 41:13Speaker 8: as well, was that he doesn't really have the best
- 41:16Speaker 8: vision between the tackles and Paul's brought up quin Shawn
- 41:19Speaker 8: Jenkins a bunch of times, like they kind of brought
- 41:22Speaker 8: in Judkins to put Henderson in more of like a
- 41:24Speaker 8: space spell back role on purpose, and like I think
- 41:28Speaker 8: that's who he is, and that's not like a knock
- 41:30Speaker 8: if he could be really good in that role, but
- 41:33Speaker 8: to deuce his point pass protection, site adjustments, you know,
- 41:37Speaker 8: those types of things can all kind of take time.
- 41:40Speaker 1: Sure, David writes in he says, the discourse online seems
- 41:44Speaker 1: that Panthers think this is an easy win for them.
- 41:47Speaker 1: I'm wondering where they're getting this confidence from. Does the
- 41:50Speaker 1: league still look at this team the way they have
- 41:52Speaker 1: the last two years? Yes, yeah, yeah, that's like.
- 41:55Speaker 3: Just the same exactly, we're looking at this as a win, right,
- 41:59Speaker 3: We're doing the same same thing.
- 42:01Speaker 8: Their coach did have some interesting comments. I don't know
- 42:03Speaker 8: if that's what he's talking about about. They they don't
- 42:07Speaker 8: do very much, don't do much, but they do it
- 42:08Speaker 8: very well.
- 42:09Speaker 3: Yeah that comment, Yeah, so.
- 42:11Speaker 4: Was that aimed at the Patriots generally or yeah, no, generally.
- 42:16Speaker 3: He was going back to Tennessee. He was saying, yeah,
- 42:19Speaker 3: they don't they don't do a lot, but they do
- 42:21Speaker 3: it exceptionally well. And I didn't really look at it
- 42:24Speaker 3: that way. I thought that was kind of surprising to hear.
- 42:26Speaker 3: Canalis say that I agree with that?
- 42:27Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean it could have just been coach speak
- 42:29Speaker 6: like it's.
- 42:29Speaker 4: Respectful and it's an it's bulletin board material.
- 42:32Speaker 6: It's not about the disrespects.
- 42:34Speaker 3: I think it's kind of I.
- 42:35Speaker 6: Think it's opposite.
- 42:36Speaker 4: I think that they searching here, guys. Come on.
- 42:38Speaker 3: I think he gave it too much. I think they
- 42:42Speaker 3: do a lot of different things, and some of them
- 42:43Speaker 3: they haven't well right.
- 42:45Speaker 8: I think they do a bunch of different things schematically,
- 42:48Speaker 8: but like he said that they play like good clean football.
- 42:51Speaker 8: It's like, did you watch this team last week? They
- 42:53Speaker 8: turned the ball over five times? Not exactly, so I
- 42:56Speaker 8: think it might have just been a little bit of
- 42:57Speaker 8: coach speak on.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Maybe he's just talking about operational.
- 43:01Speaker 3: That hasn't been like I just felt.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Like twelve men on the field, you know.
- 43:05Speaker 3: Okay, but there's been a lot of sloppiness.
- 43:08Speaker 6: Penalty.
- 43:10Speaker 1: Yeah, ed in Tallahassee. If the Patriots do not beat
- 43:14Speaker 1: the Panthers on Sunday, then the Patriots have declared the
- 43:16Speaker 1: remainder of their season.
- 43:18Speaker 3: Oh oh wow, Oh okay, it's not entirely wrong. I mean,
- 43:22Speaker 3: it might be knee jerk, but you're probably staring at
- 43:25Speaker 3: one in four. Yeah, it's tough to come out of
- 43:29Speaker 3: that hole.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Yep.
- 43:31Speaker 3: I mean what I've seen too is with three home
- 43:33Speaker 3: losses too.
- 43:33Speaker 7: Yeah, right, right, And just my experience in the last
- 43:37Speaker 7: two years was that it's hard. It gets harder, it
- 43:39Speaker 7: gets harder to dig out of those holes, like the
- 43:41Speaker 7: more it's hard to keep everybody on the same page.
- 43:43Speaker 7: It's hard to keep the locker room like the losing
- 43:46Speaker 7: season snowball on you. That's one of the biggest things
- 43:48Speaker 7: I've learned the last two seasons. Every week gets worse.
- 43:51Speaker 3: And what's the number one thing heading into the season
- 43:53Speaker 3: that we were all concerned about the lack of depth? Yeah, yeah,
- 43:57Speaker 3: So that hasn't really reared its head yet because they've been,
- 44:01Speaker 3: as Evan pointed out, relatively healthy minus Gonzo, which is
- 44:04Speaker 3: a huge I'm not saying, well, that's nothing, but there's
- 44:07Speaker 3: there are teams that are missing five and six starters
- 44:09Speaker 3: in these games, and the Patriots have been missing one
- 44:12Speaker 3: very important one, but one, I mean backs.
- 44:15Speaker 8: Carolina's missing two starting offensive linemen. They're starting center and
- 44:19Speaker 8: right guard. They're on backups at both positions, and you
- 44:21Speaker 8: know they have injuries on the injury report and they
- 44:25Speaker 8: they're already going through it too.
- 44:27Speaker 1: Yeah. Uh. Norrie from Arizona, wondering if there's a need
- 44:33Speaker 1: or an urgency to have a couple of offensive guys
- 44:36Speaker 1: involved in the offense sooner than later. I saw a
- 44:38Speaker 1: tweet from Mike Reese that Trevion Henderson was the first
- 44:42Speaker 1: and tackling ball carrier drills during yesterday's practice. To me,
- 44:46Speaker 1: that indicates they're looking to get him more involved in
- 44:48Speaker 1: the offense. I was thinking initially they were looking to
- 44:51Speaker 1: ease him into the offense early on. In the second
- 44:54Speaker 1: half of the season, he would be used more. Hence,
- 44:56Speaker 1: that's why we likely have been seeing more of Stevenson
- 45:00Speaker 1: involved in these first three games. Well, listen, if if
- 45:04Speaker 1: what you're saying is true and what Mike res tweeted
- 45:06Speaker 1: out is accurate, and that he's the first guy in
- 45:09Speaker 1: the drill, maybe it is a sign that he's going
- 45:11Speaker 1: to be the lead back.
- 45:12Speaker 6: I wouldn't look into it, but if it changes every day.
- 45:16Speaker 3: But if if that's what it is, why would you
- 45:18Speaker 3: think the reason for that would.
- 45:19Speaker 1: Be because of the fumbling.
- 45:21Speaker 3: Correct? Yes, not because they're looking to get Henderson more.
- 45:23Speaker 1: No, No, it's it's like, yeah, it's not it's a
- 45:27Speaker 1: need because of the fumbling.
- 45:29Speaker 3: Right, That's that's what I'm I just like I I
- 45:33Speaker 3: would like, you know, maybe we'll go out there today
- 45:35Speaker 3: and we'll see if it's the same order.
- 45:36Speaker 8: But like I would venture to guess that that that
- 45:39Speaker 8: is not a particular order that I think guys get
- 45:42Speaker 8: get in line and it just like and.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Pop about that.
- 45:46Speaker 3: I I in general, this is not It's more circumstantial
- 45:51Speaker 3: than you think this is.
- 45:52Speaker 1: They do this drill every single practice, No, I know
- 45:54Speaker 1: they do, and like just judging from all the practices,
- 45:58Speaker 1: it's usually the top dog is.
- 46:00Speaker 3: The top starters are usually up front. Like I would
- 46:03Speaker 3: say those three guys are starters. They wouldn't raise an
- 46:05Speaker 3: eyebrow to me for Gibson, Stevenson or Henderson. Those are
- 46:08Speaker 3: the three running backs. I mean Marcus Jones, Jennings. I've
- 46:12Speaker 3: seen Marcus.
- 46:12Speaker 8: Jones do this drill, like as an offensive player. He's
- 46:15Speaker 8: not playing offense.
- 46:17Speaker 1: So like I does the drill, but does he do
- 46:19Speaker 1: it and he's the first one out of the shoot.
- 46:21Speaker 8: I just don't think the order matters. Like I I've
- 46:24Speaker 8: been one, Like we watch it all summer, Like I know,
- 46:26Speaker 8: so like I did you take into account, like did
- 46:29Speaker 8: you think about the order?
- 46:30Speaker 1: I always noticed that, like the top dog in the
- 46:33Speaker 1: in the room is usually the first guy.
- 46:35Speaker 8: Okay, I don't like, I don't think Gigs is always
- 46:38Speaker 8: the first receiver through the drill.
- 46:39Speaker 3: I don't think he has been either, And I don't
- 46:42Speaker 3: think that he's been their top receiver, Like I don't.
- 46:45Speaker 8: Yeah, Like, I'm not trying to be argumentative. I just like,
- 46:48Speaker 8: but that's something that I think we need to, like,
- 46:50Speaker 8: let's see what it is. If it's the same as
- 46:52Speaker 8: it was yesterday today, then maybe there's something.
- 46:56Speaker 1: Mike thought it was notable.
- 46:57Speaker 5: There's just so much a practice because it is notable.
- 47:01Speaker 12: Yeah, they don't want us to see the really notable
- 47:04Speaker 12: stuff they're doing.
- 47:04Speaker 6: I think that type of stuff.
- 47:06Speaker 8: That's sort of my point is like if they made
- 47:09Speaker 8: it that predictable that every single time the person that
- 47:13Speaker 8: first running back into the drill is the starting running
- 47:15Speaker 8: back on a week like this, it just doesn't seem
- 47:18Speaker 8: like something that they would do it.
- 47:19Speaker 3: And I do think it's notable this week because of
- 47:21Speaker 3: the fumble situation. I do think there's a chance that
- 47:24Speaker 3: Henderson led that drill off because he's going to be
- 47:27Speaker 3: getting the first carry on on Sunday.
- 47:29Speaker 7: Those are the two storylines of chances there are the
- 47:31Speaker 7: two storylines. I don't get right now, you said the
- 47:33Speaker 7: numbers he touched the ball thirty times. I don't know
- 47:35Speaker 7: what the people are claiming for him to touch the
- 47:37Speaker 7: ball every single snap of the game, Like, I don't
- 47:40Speaker 7: understand what that means. And then I also don't understand this.
- 47:43Speaker 7: Stefon Diggs needs to play more on the slot, like
- 47:45Speaker 7: I mean with that was that was a storyline yesterday
- 47:48Speaker 7: too where it's like he's played half his.
- 47:49Speaker 4: Snaps in the slot, Like you don't want Stefon Diggs
- 47:51Speaker 4: to be an.
- 47:52Speaker 3: Exclusive slot when they have three receivers on the field,
- 47:54Speaker 3: he slides in, Yeah, which is great, so when you
- 47:57Speaker 3: only have two on the field.
- 48:01Speaker 7: Slot to be had, but that's like a good sign
- 48:05Speaker 7: that he's able to play inside and outside. If he's
- 48:07Speaker 7: just playing in the slot only, it's a much worse sign.
- 48:10Speaker 7: And again, he's playing there a bunch, So I don't
- 48:11Speaker 7: I don't get.
- 48:12Speaker 1: Where they line up, just worry about where they end up.
- 48:15Speaker 3: Van can make me, you know if I'm wrong on this,
- 48:18Speaker 3: Like I kind of feel like Diggs has been more
- 48:21Speaker 3: or less like in the traditional slot and when Douglas
- 48:25Speaker 3: is in there. It's almost kind of like, yeah, so
- 48:29Speaker 3: Edelman played like if that's totally wrong, you won't hurt
- 48:32Speaker 3: my feelings.
- 48:32Speaker 4: So there's Z.
- 48:33Speaker 6: It's just it's just easier to just describe it with
- 48:36Speaker 6: the letters.
- 48:37Speaker 4: So there's X, Z and F.
- 48:38Speaker 8: Okay, so X and the Z receiver are your base receivers.
- 48:41Speaker 8: The F receiver is the pure slot. That's the Danny
- 48:44Speaker 8: am Mondola. That's the guy that comes in in three
- 48:46Speaker 8: receiver sets and obvious pass and plays purely in the slot. Douglas, Yeah,
- 48:51Speaker 8: Edelman is a Z like Edelman was a flanker, move receiver.
- 48:55Speaker 6: He was a Z piece. He played a lot on
- 48:57Speaker 6: base offense.
- 48:59Speaker 8: Diggs has played more in the zerole, so he's more
- 49:02Speaker 8: like Edelman, right, and then Pop is more in the
- 49:05Speaker 8: F role. He's more like a Mondola. The X role
- 49:08Speaker 8: has been a lot of Matt Collins and Kishon Booty.
- 49:10Speaker 8: Now they've had a lot of formations now too where
- 49:13Speaker 8: it's Booty and Hollins, but those have been more like
- 49:16Speaker 8: run based formation, twelve personnel.
- 49:18Speaker 6: We're loading up to run the football.
- 49:20Speaker 8: So Pop to me is like got one, really, Danny
- 49:23Speaker 8: a Mondola Now, not the same skill set as Danny
- 49:27Speaker 8: A Mondola, but that's the role of the offense that
- 49:30Speaker 8: he is playing.
- 49:30Speaker 1: Yeah. Uh, Dominique is in New York. What's up? Dominique?
- 49:36Speaker 17: Hey y'all, how you doing?
- 49:37Speaker 4: Hey?
- 49:37Speaker 3: Good?
- 49:39Speaker 17: First, foremost, I want to shout out the stand club
- 49:42Speaker 17: section or the fan section on your site. Obviously, I'm
- 49:45Speaker 17: out here in New York City and I've been able
- 49:46Speaker 17: to actually find some good pass bars, one being East Point,
- 49:50Speaker 17: So thank you for putting that together. It's finally nice
- 49:52Speaker 17: to be around some other people room for the Pats. Second,
- 49:56Speaker 17: I wanted to call it something real quick. I feel
- 49:57Speaker 17: like we talk about a little bit, not so much,
- 50:00Speaker 17: but the linebacking group. I'm kind of unsure what to.
- 50:04Speaker 18: Make of it.
- 50:05Speaker 17: I know, Roberts Blaine, you know how the first you know,
- 50:08Speaker 17: a couple of rough weeks, But beyond that, I'm trying
- 50:10Speaker 17: to figure out who does what well? Like is given
- 50:14Speaker 17: good in between for like coverage and run stopping. Is
- 50:17Speaker 17: blame more of just run stopping? What does martin mate do?
- 50:20Speaker 17: What is the combination of linebackers that can help make
- 50:23Speaker 17: sure this team actually looks I guess decent in that area,
- 50:26Speaker 17: especially when it comes to coverage. I think that's been
- 50:28Speaker 17: a concern that I've noticed in the first couple of games.
- 50:31Speaker 17: I know, we haven't seen a larger ponder. I'm not
- 50:33Speaker 17: really sure of what he does. I'm not saying put
- 50:34Speaker 17: him in, but what combination looks best? Who does what well?
- 50:40Speaker 17: And I guess what would you Let's see from that
- 50:41Speaker 17: group moving forward as well, and I'll.
- 50:43Speaker 1: Take it off.
- 50:43Speaker 4: Thanks, all right, thanks Dominique, Landry, just keep doing what
- 50:46Speaker 4: you're doing.
- 50:46Speaker 8: That's I mean, well, Landry had been ponder our edge
- 50:49Speaker 8: guys like they're on the line of scrimmage players. But
- 50:52Speaker 8: like Explain, I thought was playing a lot better in
- 50:55Speaker 8: this past game because they were using him moving forward,
- 50:58Speaker 8: read and react, go, get the football, less in man coverage,
- 51:02Speaker 8: less in high leverage zone. So like they really kind
- 51:06Speaker 8: of played him to his straints. And I think that
- 51:08Speaker 8: that's true with all these linebackers. I don't think they
- 51:10Speaker 8: have an all purpose linebacker that's good at everything.
- 51:14Speaker 6: I think they have a.
- 51:15Speaker 8: Guys that just like Bill would do, where they have
- 51:18Speaker 8: situational roles or roles that you know. I think Splain
- 51:21Speaker 8: is more of a run stopping linebacker. I think Ellis
- 51:24Speaker 8: can play a little bit more in the past game
- 51:26Speaker 8: and maybe it'll be a little bit more coverage oriented.
- 51:28Speaker 8: Maphu's a converted safety, so he's definitely more of a
- 51:31Speaker 8: coverage player. But I think right now the problem that
- 51:34Speaker 8: they're finding themselves in is that they don't have linebackers
- 51:39Speaker 8: that are kind of well rounded. So you can get
- 51:42Speaker 8: Splain in coverage, and then you can take advantage of
- 51:44Speaker 8: splaying coverage, or you can get Ellis at the point
- 51:46Speaker 8: of attack in the run game and you can run
- 51:48Speaker 8: Ellis over you know, map who's not going to play
- 51:50Speaker 8: in a run situation. So I think that's where they're
- 51:54Speaker 8: getting picked on, is can we get the running back
- 51:57Speaker 8: on Splaine? You know, we like that matchup if Ellis
- 52:00Speaker 8: is on the field, you know, let's run it weak
- 52:02Speaker 8: and let's run it at Ellis and then we like
- 52:05Speaker 8: that matchup.
- 52:05Speaker 6: So it's a that's where they're getting beat right now.
- 52:09Speaker 7: The mix some dugger into is you know, covering tight
- 52:12Speaker 7: ends him and Mapu, and that just speaks to the
- 52:14Speaker 7: specialization that you're kind of talking about. We said yesterday,
- 52:18Speaker 7: what's something you would look at next year, Like trying
- 52:20Speaker 7: to find that every down linebacker I think would really
- 52:23Speaker 7: be a huge key for this defense to.
- 52:25Speaker 4: Tie it all together.
- 52:25Speaker 7: I mean, I like Splain, but you know, we'll see
- 52:27Speaker 7: how he continues to progress. But how's Jelani Tavai fit into.
- 52:31Speaker 7: I think that's part of this equation, and I wouldn't
- 52:34Speaker 7: be surprised. We talked about it yesterday. I'd see him
- 52:36Speaker 7: come in and you know, really be in every down
- 52:38Speaker 7: player next to Splaine. I think he's got the skill
- 52:40Speaker 7: set to do it and has some versatility, more size
- 52:42Speaker 7: than than ellis harder to run at.
- 52:45Speaker 4: But we'll see how they fit him in. He's an
- 52:46Speaker 4: interesting player.
- 52:49Speaker 1: Dan and Virginia and Michigan writes. Paul noted that the
- 52:53Speaker 1: offense last Sunday was like pulling teeth, and Evan has
- 52:56Speaker 1: noted the lack of big plays so explode plays right
- 53:01Speaker 1: as well.
- 53:02Speaker 6: Excellent.
- 53:03Speaker 1: So what is the reason. What is the reason for
- 53:05Speaker 1: the lack of dynamic offense? Is Josh still stuck in
- 53:08Speaker 1: a strategy of death by a thousand cuts? Are no
- 53:10Speaker 1: receivers getting open deep? Or is made not seeing them
- 53:13Speaker 1: when they do get open deep?
- 53:16Speaker 8: I don't think they have a third dimension to the
- 53:18Speaker 8: offense right now. I think that's the biggest thing they
- 53:20Speaker 8: don't have a deep passing game. I personally think that
- 53:23Speaker 8: that's personnel. I like, who on the roster besides Kyle
- 53:27Speaker 8: Williams really brings a down the field element. So they're
- 53:30Speaker 8: running a lot of wheels and seams and things like
- 53:33Speaker 8: that out of the backfield to try to get these
- 53:35Speaker 8: tight ends and running backs vertical and try to hunt
- 53:38Speaker 8: matchups in the middle of the field to hit big plays.
- 53:42Speaker 8: They've hit chunks, they just haven't hit that, you know,
- 53:45Speaker 8: fifty sixty yard bomb. They hit the one to Remandre,
- 53:49Speaker 8: but even that was like a twenty five yard pass
- 53:51Speaker 8: that turns into a fifty five yard pass. So I
- 53:54Speaker 8: think that's what's missing from the offense right now. From
- 53:56Speaker 8: that standpoint, They're not terrible in terms of twenty plus
- 54:00Speaker 8: yard gains, but their twenty plus yard gains are only
- 54:03Speaker 8: gaining twenty yards at a time. They're not gaining fifty
- 54:06Speaker 8: yards on their explosive plays.
- 54:09Speaker 1: Dan's other question, I think he had it a little
- 54:11Speaker 1: bit wrong. He says in the postgame show and Tuesday's show,
- 54:14Speaker 1: the fumbles were put down to players trying to do
- 54:17Speaker 1: too much. It was no just Drake Drake May's Yeah,
- 54:21Speaker 1: Ramandre Stevenson wasn't trying to do too much. You talked
- 54:24Speaker 1: to the offensive, but Drake, especially in that one play,
- 54:27Speaker 1: it looked like he was trying to get heroes. Yeah, yeah,
- 54:31Speaker 1: there goes out.
- 54:31Speaker 3: I agree with Fred's summation of that. I think we
- 54:34Speaker 3: all mentioned that Drake needs to stop those plays when
- 54:38Speaker 3: they're over.
- 54:39Speaker 4: Yeah, they stopped trying to do they feel mental errors.
- 54:41Speaker 4: To me, they feel the other.
- 54:42Speaker 3: Three fumbles were not an example of trying to do
- 54:45Speaker 3: too much.
- 54:45Speaker 7: Drake's interception too, which is they felt like he rushed it.
- 54:48Speaker 7: He had the time, he has the throw, he just
- 54:50Speaker 7: you know, gets excited, and I think that's hopefully part
- 54:53Speaker 7: of the experience thing that'll calm down a little bit.
- 54:56Speaker 1: So Evan's off to the locker room.
- 54:59Speaker 4: Josh, Josh, just Josh.
- 55:02Speaker 1: Okay, all right, David's in Florida. What's up, David?
- 55:07Speaker 3: When she smirks.
- 55:08Speaker 2: Us, you guys, guy, guys, what's are going good?
- 55:12Speaker 1: David?
- 55:14Speaker 17: I have to uh excuse me.
- 55:16Speaker 19: I have to maybe push back a little bit on
- 55:18Speaker 19: something that Paul said. I think it was last show
- 55:20Speaker 19: or the show before. He was talking about how it
- 55:24Speaker 19: seems like the offense has these long, extended drives and
- 55:29Speaker 19: he kind of described it as you know it, they're
- 55:31Speaker 19: they're putting their all into these drives that aren't doing anything.
- 55:35Speaker 19: And I just had a sort of had a question,
- 55:37Speaker 19: is like, isn't it a good thing that we have
- 55:38Speaker 19: these extended drives that take up time? Obviously not in
- 55:41Speaker 19: the end of the game, but I feel like it's
- 55:42Speaker 19: good that we have, you know, these extended, long drives
- 55:45Speaker 19: that can wear out the defense.
- 55:47Speaker 3: What I said was, it's it's kind of frustrating that
- 55:51Speaker 3: they have these long drives that don't result in points,
- 55:54Speaker 3: and there are different reasons. The thing that I was
- 55:57Speaker 3: sort of arguing with Fred postgame about was last year
- 56:01Speaker 3: they would have these drives, and you know, they would
- 56:04Speaker 3: have It wasn't every game, but they were games where
- 56:07Speaker 3: they moved the ball reasonably well and they would get
- 56:11Speaker 3: in position to score and there'd be a holding call
- 56:14Speaker 3: or a sack allowed and they would end up with
- 56:16Speaker 3: no points. On Sunday, they had these long drives that
- 56:20Speaker 3: looked like they were going well and they would get
- 56:22Speaker 3: down there and drop the ball. So a different reason
- 56:24Speaker 3: for failing. But at the end of the day, you
- 56:27Speaker 3: looked in like the Colts game last year, they had
- 56:29Speaker 3: like four hundred and twenty two yards of total offense
- 56:31Speaker 3: in twenty four points, and you're like, how did how
- 56:34Speaker 3: did they only end up with twenty four points on Sunday?
- 56:36Speaker 3: You look and you're like three hundred and sixty nine
- 56:38Speaker 3: yards of offense but only fourteen points. How did that happen?
- 56:41Speaker 3: It was a little bit easier to unidentify why that
- 56:44Speaker 3: happened in this game, But I'm wondering, is that just
- 56:48Speaker 3: what it is? Like the offense? Yeah, I'm gonna find
- 56:51Speaker 3: a way to not score as make points as they should.
- 56:54Speaker 1: I agreed, David. It is a good sign that they're
- 56:56Speaker 1: able to sustain it. They just have to finish.
- 56:59Speaker 3: They had some good drives on Sunday. Yes, they did,
- 57:02Speaker 3: and that was a good thing. They had one ninety
- 57:04Speaker 3: plus yard drive.
- 57:05Speaker 19: Were you just referring to Sunday's game or are you
- 57:07Speaker 19: talking about overall?
- 57:08Speaker 3: No, in general?
- 57:09Speaker 19: Maybe I was missing night.
- 57:10Speaker 3: No, and I'm talking about the offense in general, like
- 57:13Speaker 3: under May, I'm talking about Drake Man.
- 57:15Speaker 1: One of the one of the differences I see in
- 57:17Speaker 1: this offense from last year, like when it's third and
- 57:19Speaker 1: eight or the behind the sticks, I feel like there's
- 57:22Speaker 1: hope that they're going to convert.
- 57:24Speaker 5: I had no hope the last year four years.
- 57:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I had nod hope when May became the quarterback
- 57:29Speaker 3: last year they could. They could some of those like
- 57:32Speaker 3: you don't convert a lot of.
- 57:33Speaker 19: Them when they do have to move the ball quickly.
- 57:35Speaker 19: I feel like they do have the ability to with
- 57:37Speaker 19: especially on those like third those like third Nates with
- 57:39Speaker 19: Diggs and Hollins and Henry and those kind of guys.
- 57:42Speaker 13: I feel like they.
- 57:42Speaker 19: Are doing that at a significantly better rate than they
- 57:44Speaker 19: than they were last year.
- 57:46Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I don't.
- 57:47Speaker 19: See that, but it just felt like you were you were.
- 57:50Speaker 3: They did Sunday a little bit. They did that Sunday.
- 57:52Speaker 3: I'll say that they didn't do it in the first game.
- 57:56Speaker 3: I didn't do it in the second half of the
- 57:57Speaker 3: second game.
- 57:58Speaker 1: I have much more hope this year that it's Sunday.
- 58:01Speaker 3: If we're just going off a Sunday and that's what
- 58:03Speaker 3: it is, I agree with you. I have hope.
- 58:04Speaker 1: But there was building signs in all three games.
- 58:07Speaker 3: Not the first game. Okay, they didn't move the ball
- 58:09Speaker 3: in the first game at all.
- 58:10Speaker 1: I'm just saying that, that's all I'm saying.
- 58:13Speaker 3: It's like we're just going off of a very recent
- 58:16Speaker 3: track record. Sunday. It's it's obvious they moved the ball
- 58:20Speaker 3: on Sunday. Anybody would say I I going to keep
- 58:24Speaker 3: saying this year that way.
- 58:26Speaker 1: That's how I feel.
- 58:27Speaker 3: But it was this game, Okay, But what I'm telling
- 58:29Speaker 3: you they didn't move the ball against the Raiders. They didn't.
- 58:32Speaker 1: Okay, but I saw a semblance of an offense building
- 58:36Speaker 1: towards something. I didn't see that last year. I see
- 58:39Speaker 1: that this year, and but building.
- 58:42Speaker 3: When I'm giving you the facts that they had four
- 58:44Speaker 3: different games that they moved the ball far better than
- 58:46Speaker 3: they did against the Raiders this year last year. Okay,
- 58:51Speaker 3: but I gave you that, and you just ignore it.
- 58:53Speaker 3: I'm just telling you because in your mind's eye, you're
- 58:55Speaker 3: just saying, it just looks better to me this year.
- 58:57Speaker 1: It does.
- 58:58Speaker 3: It looks better to do that too. I can just
- 59:00Speaker 3: say it looks better and just you don't have to.
- 59:01Speaker 1: But I am.
- 59:02Speaker 3: Against Pittsburgh, it looked better. It was better because they
- 59:05Speaker 3: moved the ball. As as David said, they had like
- 59:08Speaker 3: a ninety six yard drive in that game that resulted
- 59:12Speaker 3: in no points. I also that's a great drive.
- 59:14Speaker 1: I also saw at the beginning of the Miami game.
- 59:16Speaker 1: It looked better.
- 59:17Speaker 3: The first two drives of the Miami game were.
- 59:19Speaker 1: Outstand I'm seeing semblances of an offense I don't believe
- 59:23Speaker 1: I saw last year.
- 59:24Speaker 3: Okay, but but I would agree in the Pittsburgh game
- 59:27Speaker 3: and in the first half against Miami it was good.
- 59:29Speaker 3: The Raiders game, and the second half against Miami it wasn't.
- 59:32Speaker 7: Okay, Mike Yah, yeah, no, it's accurate, but I but
- 59:37Speaker 7: I still like what I'm saying.
- 59:38Speaker 1: He's asking you to agree with him now.
- 59:40Speaker 7: If they didn't do if they didn't have production against
- 59:42Speaker 7: the Raiders or in the second half against Miami, which
- 59:44Speaker 7: I would say is accurate, But I still agree with
- 59:46Speaker 7: your general point of despite not being great in the
- 59:48Speaker 7: opener and having a bad second half, I still see
- 59:51Speaker 7: what you're saying.
- 59:52Speaker 3: I would say the arrow is pointing up. The most
- 59:54Speaker 3: recent thing we saw was very positive if not for
- 59:56Speaker 3: the turnovers.
- 59:57Speaker 4: Yeah yeah.
- 59:58Speaker 3: My fear is we just plugged in the turnovers this
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: week that replaced the sack or the holding car, and
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: it's going to be something different. It's going to be
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: something different because they can't move the ball with any
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: degree of chunk plays, and you know, Evan keeps talking
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: about the twenty yard plays, and I think Fred's right
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: about this. Fred sort of, you know, clap back a
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: little bit against the explosive plays, Like you're throwing a
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: screen pass and the running back breaks three tackles and
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: you get twenty three yards. Now, that's a great play.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: I'm not saying it's not. But it's not the same
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: as getting explosive plays. They're working really hard to move
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: the ball. They don't get a lot of plays like
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: the third down and sixteen on Sunday against Pittsburgh where
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: Booty runs an incut and they get twenty yards that
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: ball was Do you realize they didn't even throw the
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: ball twenty yards in the air once in the whole
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: game Sunday. Like, I don't know if you can like
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: consistently move the ball the way they did Sunday doing it.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: That way, if you don't have that thread, it makes
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: it easier for the defense.
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: As Fred, but I want to just like I know
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: Fred thinks that I'm being combative and I'm not on Sundays.
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: On Sunday, I will take that offense on Sunday, cleaning
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: up the turnovers obviously every week that offense is good
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: enough to win most weeks.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: Well, Paul and Fred arguing is a tradition. Like any

- 1:04:20Speaker 21: Yeah, a chance to get back out there and kind
- 1:04:22Speaker 21: of re established over trying to be the football team.
- 1:04:24Speaker 21: I think some one of those games that you know,
- 1:04:28Speaker 21: you just look back and like, man, we hurt ourselves,
- 1:04:31Speaker 21: and I think it's one of those things just get
- 1:04:32Speaker 21: back to you folks on us and you know, a
- 1:04:34Speaker 21: new opponent and knowing that we can got to know
- 1:04:37Speaker 21: how to not you know, lose the game, you know,
- 1:04:40Speaker 21: on ourselves before we go win.
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: You're talking a lot.
- 1:04:43Speaker 4: I've been passing our top ten questions.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: Just chairs do you do you play?
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: Attention on the stats, that's stuff to.
- 1:04:48Speaker 21: Be I don't think winning matters to me. I think
- 1:04:50Speaker 21: that's the main goal with why you play. You know,
- 1:04:53Speaker 21: I play this this position, why I play the sport. Yeah,
- 1:04:56Speaker 21: I think, you know, quarterbacks and the ultimate kind of
- 1:04:58Speaker 21: status is win. So I think that's the biggest thing
- 1:05:01Speaker 21: that I focus on. And if that's throwing you know,
- 1:05:04Speaker 21: ten touchdowns in a game, or or throwing one pass
- 1:05:06Speaker 21: the game is trying to win.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: He like throwing up against Christie Gonzalas and.
- 1:05:12Speaker 21: Practice, Yeah, Gonzo. I mean it's since the day I
- 1:05:16Speaker 21: got here. You know, it's always good to have somebody
- 1:05:19Speaker 21: and and him and c V on the other side
- 1:05:21Speaker 21: of the ball that that make a challenging, that make
- 1:05:22Speaker 21: it challenging to make throws that don't make it easy.
- 1:05:26Speaker 21: And I think that's you know, things where we developed
- 1:05:28Speaker 21: with guys and on my side of the ball, a
- 1:05:31Speaker 21: different kind of kind of level like above the next
- 1:05:34Speaker 21: you know, when he's making throws difficult, he's making this
- 1:05:36Speaker 21: route difficult, you know, back shoulders on on go routes
- 1:05:39Speaker 21: and little things like that. He's, uh, you know, he's
- 1:05:42Speaker 21: a great player and I'm looking forward to seeing him,
- 1:05:43Speaker 21: you know when he gets back. Yeah, I think you know,
- 1:05:46Speaker 21: he's got some swag with to him. He's always got swags,
- 1:05:48Speaker 21: so I always, you know, you know, try to find
- 1:05:51Speaker 21: time to ask him, Hey, what kind of do up
- 1:05:53Speaker 21: my swag? Because I don't have much out there, but
- 1:05:55Speaker 21: uh no, Gon's always do you every time. You know,
- 1:05:59Speaker 21: he's smooth, play smooth, he's patient, he's a he's one
- 1:06:02Speaker 21: of the best in the game. So what does it
- 1:06:04Speaker 21: mean for the chances to play against your hometown team? Yeah,
- 1:06:07Speaker 21: I think it's different. Playing up here and you're going
- 1:06:09Speaker 21: back to Charlotte would have been different, but you know,
- 1:06:11Speaker 21: going against the team that grew up watching, you grew
- 1:06:13Speaker 21: up hering for, and a lot of great memories in
- 1:06:15Speaker 21: that stadium back in Making America. So uh yeah, it's
- 1:06:19Speaker 21: a little different, but at the same time, it's still
- 1:06:20Speaker 21: you know, just is another week, another week in the NFL,
- 1:06:22Speaker 21: and you know, the same players that I grew up
- 1:06:25Speaker 21: you know, playing for besides the longest snappers still there.
- 1:06:27Speaker 7: So is it a little encouraging that the mistakes from
- 1:06:31Speaker 7: last week's and turnovers do you view those as.
- 1:06:33Speaker 21: Relatively easy fixes and are you encouraged by that, Hey,
- 1:06:36Speaker 21: we can just sol out of the ball.
- 1:06:38Speaker 18: You know you've got something here.
- 1:06:39Speaker 21: Yeah, like I said, not beating ourselves, that's the that's
- 1:06:41Speaker 21: the big thing, and that's the shoot. It's you know,
- 1:06:44Speaker 21: it's turnovers. Turnos in this league are such a big deal.
- 1:06:47Speaker 21: It's one of those things that we yeah, we can
- 1:06:49Speaker 21: clean up. I think you hold on the football and
- 1:06:51Speaker 21: and me hold it on the pocket, and you know,
- 1:06:53Speaker 21: the running backs is something that I do think is fixable.
- 1:06:56Speaker 21: I think it's something that you try to overemphasize and
- 1:06:59Speaker 21: usually when we overhom sized things, you you fix it.
- 1:07:02Speaker 21: And uh, you know, I think something throughout the week
- 1:07:04Speaker 21: is just trying to do the extra little things that
- 1:07:06Speaker 21: you'll protect it and and me getting you in the pocket.
- 1:07:08Speaker 21: You'll ensuring two hands on it and just know when
- 1:07:11Speaker 21: that plays over great.
- 1:07:13Speaker 7: When you look at this team, whether it's a practice
- 1:07:15Speaker 7: or during the games, do you think about.
- 1:07:17Speaker 4: How much better this team can be or maybe it
- 1:07:19Speaker 4: should be.
- 1:07:20Speaker 18: Who you will.
- 1:07:22Speaker 21: I wouldn't say that. I just you know, trying to
- 1:07:24Speaker 21: push the guys to get to that level. You know,
- 1:07:25Speaker 21: I know what we can do, and you still feel
- 1:07:27Speaker 21: like we haven't you know, played our best football, and
- 1:07:29Speaker 21: that's what's promising, you know, you know ahead and I think, uh,
- 1:07:32Speaker 21: you know, once we do, we kind of talk about,
- 1:07:34Speaker 21: you know, stringing some plays together in a practice or
- 1:07:35Speaker 21: stringing a drive together. You see glimpses of it. But
- 1:07:39Speaker 21: that's the challenging part of this league. And that's what's
- 1:07:40Speaker 21: the fun part about it. Of getting to that level
- 1:07:42Speaker 21: and hoping to get that level when when the games
- 1:07:45Speaker 21: you know matter, it really matter, and trying to get
- 1:07:46Speaker 21: a you'll push to the postseason or things like that.
- 1:07:49Speaker 21: So that's what we're trying to build tours and just
- 1:07:51Speaker 21: keep you know, going out every week just curious when
- 1:07:54Speaker 21: you dive into a opponent's go getting good at it
- 1:07:57Speaker 21: on your own.
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: What's the difference here too for you as opposed to
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: last year, If they're as fun as that you study
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: and you're trying to get a beat early on the Pounders.
- 1:08:06Speaker 21: Defense, Yeah, I think, you know, first off is kind
- 1:08:09Speaker 21: of just knowing the defensive coordinator kind of the background.
- 1:08:11Speaker 21: You can kind of know more names now and know
- 1:08:13Speaker 21: what Tree's from and and know things like that. And
- 1:08:16Speaker 21: from there, just trying to watch players more. You know
- 1:08:17Speaker 21: players know that you know, covers matters, but you know
- 1:08:20Speaker 21: players and personnel matters just as much. And and know
- 1:08:22Speaker 21: one the guys up front you to worry about or
- 1:08:25Speaker 21: the run game and things like that are the guys
- 1:08:27Speaker 21: you know, hey, playing this coverage is what he likes
- 1:08:29Speaker 21: to do. Or you know he's real aggressive when he
- 1:08:31Speaker 21: gets you know, backside and he's in man, you know,
- 1:08:32Speaker 21: things like that. So just trying to you know, started players,
- 1:08:36Speaker 21: you know, just as Nutch as and and just every week,
- 1:08:38Speaker 21: you know, trying to play the quarterback. You're trying to
- 1:08:39Speaker 21: see what see what they're in before they show it.
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: You think they're corner specifically Chase.
- 1:08:44Speaker 4: Yeah, they're great players.
- 1:08:45Speaker 10: You know.
- 1:08:45Speaker 21: You know Jase Horny he played at a kid out
- 1:08:47Speaker 21: of school, so you'll know him, you know, grew up
- 1:08:50Speaker 21: and uh, he's a little older than me, but obviously
- 1:08:52Speaker 21: a great player. You know, he's made the players this
- 1:08:54Speaker 21: year and he's uh, you know, one of those guys
- 1:08:56Speaker 21: backside that he's gonna play in the boundary and make
- 1:08:58Speaker 21: it tough. He's physical, he can play, he's pay should
- 1:09:00Speaker 21: you know, he's got good ball skills. So he's one
- 1:09:02Speaker 21: of those guys that, uh, you know, he's he's gonna
- 1:09:05Speaker 21: make it tough, and I think it's something that you
- 1:09:07Speaker 21: can't you kind of eliminate that part of the field.
- 1:09:10Speaker 21: But you gotta be careful with him and the other side.
- 1:09:12Speaker 21: You Number two is a good player as well.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: You see you have Stefan Dick's three catches on Sunday
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: resulted in the first I believe you talked about what
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: a great.
- 1:09:21Speaker 8: Teammate he is.
- 1:09:22Speaker 20: Where's your level of trust with him, especially a situationally you're.
- 1:09:26Speaker 21: On the video, Yeah, you know, we try to put
- 1:09:28Speaker 21: him in circumstances where he's you know, getting the ball
- 1:09:31Speaker 21: and an option to get the ball on on big plays.
- 1:09:34Speaker 21: You know, got a big third down catch the first
- 1:09:37Speaker 21: third down we had, I should have probably should have
- 1:09:38Speaker 21: thrown it to him. Well, things like that, we had
- 1:09:40Speaker 21: a fourth down against Miami. He's making plays. So he's
- 1:09:42Speaker 21: in positions on on uh you know, key downs to
- 1:09:44Speaker 21: make plays and got full trust on him and he's
- 1:09:46Speaker 21: just keeps showing it every week and He's just try
- 1:09:48Speaker 21: to give Hi the ball more. I told him that.
- 1:09:50Speaker 21: You know today, when you talk about knowing when the
- 1:09:53Speaker 21: play is over, are you is that just strictly field thing,
- 1:09:57Speaker 21: because obviously you have the ability.
- 1:09:58Speaker 10: To create extent.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:10:00Speaker 4: Then sometimes, as you found out, it kind of can lead.
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: To trouble too.
- 1:10:02Speaker 21: Yeah, you just kind of we talked about the quarterback room,
- 1:10:04Speaker 21: you know, kind of when something something doesn't feel right,
- 1:10:07Speaker 21: you know, when the brother in the pocket or with
- 1:10:09Speaker 21: this play, all right, something I need to do, whether
- 1:10:11Speaker 21: throw it away or get what I can and get down.
- 1:10:14Speaker 21: Just kind of that that kind of you know, stop
- 1:10:16Speaker 21: clock in your head and and that shot clock. Just
- 1:10:18Speaker 21: you just know, hey, something doesn't feel right all right now.
- 1:10:21Speaker 21: You know some quarterbacks split their feet. I think sometimes
- 1:10:23Speaker 21: you just feel like, okay, you gotta do something. So
- 1:10:25Speaker 21: just knowing knowing that it comes to the Panthers.
- 1:10:27Speaker 4: What what is your favorite like all time memories?
- 1:10:31Speaker 21: Fair, all time memory who that's a that's a good question.
- 1:10:36Speaker 21: I went to the Super Bowl, uh when when they
- 1:10:39Speaker 21: lost to Peyton Manning.
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: And then that was tough.
- 1:10:42Speaker 21: But uh yeah, just that season and you know, I
- 1:10:43Speaker 21: think there was fifteen and one. I was at that,
- 1:10:46Speaker 21: you know, NFC Championship game at home, you know, big
- 1:10:49Speaker 21: time win, and just to just the being a fan
- 1:10:52Speaker 21: of of Cam. I think it was probably the biggest
- 1:10:54Speaker 21: memory of him coming out here and doing the airplane
- 1:10:56Speaker 21: and you know, hitting the CAM.
- 1:10:58Speaker 4: So just little things like that and.
- 1:11:00Speaker 21: Getting to know him later on and playing him he
- 1:11:02Speaker 21: coaches seven on sevent team and playing them and playing
- 1:11:05Speaker 21: against him and seeing stuff.
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: And now great moments in.
- 1:11:13Speaker 6: History and Brandon Spikes's work.
- 1:11:17Speaker 8: He's at Florida, he's working back at the Alma Mada
- 1:11:21Speaker 8: and uh and he's you know, he's helping out Florida's program,
- 1:11:25Speaker 8: trying to get them back, you know, to where they
- 1:11:27Speaker 8: were when he was there and things like that.
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: And so is he still on the internet.
- 1:11:33Speaker 4: I asked Evan about that yesterday.
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: I'm sure you know, I'm going to plead you want
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: his only fans.
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: Account, get a license for that thing.
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: Yeah, that was a great That was a great moment
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: in PFW.
- 1:11:46Speaker 7: And oh yeah, oh you guys discovered the who does
- 1:11:50Speaker 7: a Google search of Brandon Spikes is junk and Frank Goes.
- 1:11:53Speaker 22: I have seen it.
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: I have seen it.
- 1:11:55Speaker 4: And then I said it in the elevator today, and then.
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: Paul starts, have you seen yes?
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: Have you seen? So? Yeah? I do not just go
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: I don't get that.
- 1:12:06Speaker 13: I have no.
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: Research.
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: That's another great moment, all right back here on Patriots
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: on the Filter, and I'm looking at him like like
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: just like we were talking about the offense, and I'm like, so,
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: have you really seen Brandon Spikes's junk? Yes?
- 1:12:28Speaker 18: Oh? Yeah?
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: No? I you know when these when when news happens,
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: I need to see what everyone's talking about. Part of
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: my job, I guess, yeah, okay. I teased before the
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: break that we had some parcels content. Obviously. This weekend,
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: Bill Parcells was inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame,
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: and before the induction ceremony, Maddy no Socks and myself
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: had a chance to actually sit down with Bill in
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: this studio for an extended interview, and what we're about
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: to play is just a little clip of it. We
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: were talking about how, you know, Bill was such a
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: pro at needling his players, so we talked about that.
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: But the extended interview, if it isn't already up, it's
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: going to be up on Pages dot com before the
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: end of this show, so you can listen to the
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: whole interview that we did with Bill purselves. But here's
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: just a little taste of that.
- 1:13:26Speaker 23: You know, I'm confrontational. I had a very confrontational mother,
- 1:13:30Speaker 23: highly confrontation, and so I've always been let's let's get
- 1:13:36Speaker 23: it out on the table and let's settle it now.
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: And we're so you grew up that way, Yeah, exactly, Yeah.
- 1:13:42Speaker 4: Now I so Lofe talks about practice. He said, the
- 1:13:46Speaker 4: needle is usually out during stretch. That was a time
- 1:13:50Speaker 4: to bust balls.
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: At that point in time, and nobody was immune.
- 1:13:53Speaker 9: Know, somebody was a little heavy is weight, you're gonna
- 1:13:55Speaker 9: get him with the way You're going to get him
- 1:13:57Speaker 9: on all kinds of to get myself with that. But
- 1:14:01Speaker 9: he said that that was like he revers that time
- 1:14:05Speaker 9: and thinks back at that time about that's.
- 1:14:07Speaker 22: The special camaraderie. That is what football is all about.
- 1:14:11Speaker 22: It is and you know, it's you can't explain it
- 1:14:14Speaker 22: to people. There's just something. It's kind of like a
- 1:14:19Speaker 22: a it's like a magnet.
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: It just it keeps you together. It's just yeah, and
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: and man, it's als fair too. It's if you're.
- 1:14:31Speaker 23: Sensitive at all on business, right, No shot, that's right,
- 1:14:35Speaker 23: because the more they find out you're sensitive, they make
- 1:14:38Speaker 23: it worse.
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: That's right.
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah, okay. So that was just a little
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: taste and it is live now on Patriots dot com.
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: So if you want to check that out, you know,
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: please wait until the end of the show. But I
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: would say that if you have any memory of Bill
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: Parcells here, if you were a fan at that time,
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: old enough to remember him, it's it's muscle wat.
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: I watched it this morning, and I would echo what
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: Fred says, and this is I would say this. Obviously,
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: you know, we're proud of a lot of the stuff
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: that we do. But if you're of 's say, you know,
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: roughly my age, you know, let's say plus or minus
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: ten for me, this is in your wheelhouse. The memories
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: that immediately were drawn back to that sort of mid
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: nineties emergence of the Patriots as one of the better
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: teams in the league. I'm not going to call him
- 1:15:32Speaker 3: the best team in the league. They didn't win the
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: Super Bowl in ninety six. They lost, but they were
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: in that mix with Denver and with Green Bay and
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: the better teams, and Parcels brings you right back there.
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: He's eighty four his recall is amazing. Some of the
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: stories that he tells. I think Fred asks him about
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: his Circle the Wagons guys, and he's talking about, you know,
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: some of the play like Bruce Armstrong and Andre Tippett
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: that you would immediately think of in that light. But
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: then you know, Matt and Fred are like sort of
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: problemoge hold on, now, let me think, and then he
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: like rattles off two or three more and then you
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: know Fred and Matt again are getting ready to move on.
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: He's like, no, no, no, and like there was probably
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: eight or nine guys. Oh yeah, that he's talking about
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: with such reverence. Yeah, I think you really enjoy it.
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: I know that Parcels can be sort of a polarizing
- 1:16:26Speaker 3: guy for Patriots fans because of the way he left,
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: But I think either way, whatever way you fall on
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: the Bill Parcells controversy, I think you'll enjoy looking back
- 1:16:36Speaker 3: at a time in Patriots history. I think is a
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: little bit overlooked because of all the success they had
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: with the Belichick Brady era, but the Parcels Bledsoe era
- 1:16:46Speaker 3: was pretty good. And I think if you sort of
- 1:16:50Speaker 3: were a part of that the way I was, you
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: really enjoy this podcast.
- 1:16:53Speaker 12: And even if you weren't part of it, Like, I'm
- 1:16:55Speaker 12: really interested to see it just because I was like
- 1:16:57Speaker 12: two years old, you know, I didn't necessarily live through it.
- 1:17:00Speaker 12: I write about it, but I'm excited to just hear
- 1:17:02Speaker 12: it from that perspective. And I think that confrontational line
- 1:17:05Speaker 12: about how he's really confrontational, Oh yeah, I love that.
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: You know where I got mine?
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, I'm your mom. I could have I could
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: have sat and talked with him for hours, because there
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: was a lot that I would have loved to catch
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: up on, but he had other things to do. But
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: we also had a special guest stop in during the interview,
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: so that's in there too, so Tom pages dot com
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: and really anywhere that you can get podcasts. It's episode
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: I think fifty two of Pats from the Past, So
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: good stuff. Check it out.
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: And Freddie, you and You and No Socks did a
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: nice job with with Bill, and I thought he was
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: really he was willing to go back, and I think
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: he looks back at those times fondly. Yeah, you know,
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: those were good teams. Some of the some of the
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: names that he brings up just out of nowhere. Ray
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: Crittendon he talks about, you know, like that that's a
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: true Patriot fan, Like Alex, I'm sure you ever heard
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: the name Ray Crittenden in your life. You know, he
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: would sort of be like the the eftin Chisholm today,
- 1:18:06Speaker 3: like the fourth or fifth, you know, sixth guy on
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: the depth chart, and you know he's going back thirty
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: plus years talking about that guy. So it was definitely
- 1:18:15Speaker 3: worth worth sometimes, you know, like a half hour. So
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: it's nice, good, good trip down Many Lane.
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: Like I said, I I could have talked with him
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: all afternoon because I have things that.
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: I that was my season ticket holder heyday.
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: Yeah, that was I mean that was when I was
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: came in ninety five. He was the coach. That was
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: my first coach.
- 1:18:34Speaker 12: Well, you said it was polarizing kind of because the
- 1:18:37Speaker 12: way he left. What did you think of his comments
- 1:18:39Speaker 12: about kind of wishing he maybe did these differently with
- 1:18:42Speaker 12: wisdom in hindsight.
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: Yeah, he's had said that before publicly, so this isn't new.
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: That wasn't but I think he really meant it. Yeah,
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: you know, he was the kind of guy and not
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: just here. He did it with the Giants before here
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: where he was mercurial, like, I don't know if I
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: want to come back, and he entertained an offer with
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the time, and you know,
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: the Giants were getting frustrated with him. You know, every
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: year he didn't know if he wanted to keep coaching.
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: He did it here, he did it. You know after here,
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: he went from here to Dallas, then to Miami. So
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: he's he hasn't He's never been a guy that settled down.
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: The only place he stated for any length of time
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: was the Giants. Yeah, it's right about that. He probably
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: would have gone yeah for another reason.
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: So so it wasn't just here. He didn't like to
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: be told what to do. He was very confrontational, but
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: with a guy like him, he'd have the confrontation and
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: then it'll be over. There's no lingering grudges to be held,
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: you know, like it you're a man, I'm a man.
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: We're gonna yell at each other and then it's done.
- 1:19:45Speaker 12: And I respect the hell out of that, because when
- 1:19:47Speaker 12: you aren't confronting these things, there's just like festering inside
- 1:19:51Speaker 12: of you. And then that's when it does get to
- 1:19:52Speaker 12: a boiling point.
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: And then right and then it's done. And that's how
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: we coached in I think maybe Vrabel's kind of from
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: that cut from that cloth. I don't know, we'll see,
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: but he seems to be like that.
- 1:20:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know if he's done with it, but
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: he likes to bicker. Yeah, that I remember from his
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: playing days.
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: Yeah, but it was it was great to see him,
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: and I told him, I said I was pissed when
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: the way he left. I told him that.
- 1:20:22Speaker 5: I don't know if that made it, but the you
- 1:20:25Speaker 5: saying that I'm being confrontational.
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: Yeah, but but the reason I was pissed is because
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: I didn't want them to leave, right, That's why I
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: was pissed, you know. And the way he left. So
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: good stuff. Check it out pages dot com and anywhere
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: you get your podcasts. It's a patch from the past.
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: That's the title. Ashton writes in My dog and I
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: got hit by a car yesterday walking across the street.
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: Both have some things that need to heal, but we're
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: gonna be okay. I listened to your show in the
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: hospital for some normalcy. Appreciate what you do. I hope
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: both you and your dog are getting better. That sucks.
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: I always have that fear when I'm walking the dog
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: and along the sidewalk on like some cars just gonna
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: jump the sidewalk and nail both of us.
- 1:21:14Speaker 12: Yeah, that happened in a West Springfield in the last year.
- 1:21:17Speaker 12: Girl walking or dog. They both passed away.
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: Yeah. Anyway, football question, why not move Digs to the
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: slot since his few weeks in Houston he was exactly
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: what you want from that position. Could bump digs targets up,
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: keep the chains moving more, and be more reliable in
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: that role than Douglas. I know the chisholm Army is
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: ready to march, but maybe some more time behind Diggs
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: is still needed.
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: He's you could save that one for Mike because he
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: really likes to answer the why isn't Digs in the slot?
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: Question?
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: So I would I would just say, obviously we talked
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: a lot about Diggs is playing in the slot, but
- 1:21:53Speaker 3: in terms of that email that I would agree with
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: is I would like to see Diggs get a little
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: bit more attention, more focus, focal point of the offense.
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: Okay, Jordan lives in Tampa and he wants to give
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: an answer to that person looking for places to go
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: down there. Uh, he lives down there. He said, you
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: can try the traditional Cuban food in a town called
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: lot Terracita, the Colombia in Ebor City. I remember the
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: Columbia is still there. That was a wild spot big night.
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: I had a restaurant, but it also had a bar.
- 1:22:24Speaker 3: It was a wild spot, was there.
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: If you want a nice steak, go to Charlie's or
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: Ocean Prime right by the stadium. So there's there a
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: few suggestions right there. But yeah, Ebor City.
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: Was there one Ocean Prime? Yeah, I think I've been there.
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: There's a few of them. Yeah, there's a few of them.
- 1:22:42Speaker 3: All right. I didn't realize there's a chain. My bad.
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: Yeah, end one though, of course, well only the best
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: uh Sean and Vancouver, Alex. I agree with you. But
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: what I'd like to see more Digs and Williams. All right,
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: Booty and Diggs should have all the snaps, but when
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: they go to three receiver sets, put Digs in the slot.
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: Here's another slot guy, and Williams at the X with
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: a few deep shots, Evan. I'd also like to see
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: Henderson use more as a decoy. Defenses are keying on
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: him when he's on the field. Fred I'm gonna make
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: the guarantee this week Patriots twenty one Panthers ten. If
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: both teams best players are on the field. Do you
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: think Gonza will cover Tet with Davis on Sandras? I
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: think they'll probably double team Tet.
- 1:23:26Speaker 3: I don't know if that's a good question. I think
- 1:23:30Speaker 3: normal circumstances, yes, I think Gonzales would be on McMillan,
- 1:23:33Speaker 3: but I think considering his film, yeah, his absence, I
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: wonder if maybe they go with Davis instead. I don't
- 1:23:44Speaker 3: think that they would necessarily double him all the time,
- 1:23:47Speaker 3: but yeah, he probably will see some double teams too. Okay,
- 1:23:51Speaker 3: but I just it's a little unknown there. What availability
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: you're going to get from Gonzo? Yep, But normal circumstance answers.
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: I want him on the other team's best receiver, right, Yep,
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: don't we all?
- 1:24:06Speaker 23: I do?
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: I think so. I mean, that's that's the that's why
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: you get these guys, that's why you pay them the
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: big bucks. H Judah. Do you think this team can
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: find the way to play the best type of football
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: Drake talked about early or will it take until mid
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: season or even the entire season?
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: That's the question. I didn't hear Drake's no, but how
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: long it's you know, they want to be playing their
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: best football and they're going to have to clean things up.
- 1:24:31Speaker 3: You know, you hope that these are just sort of
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: early season growing pains and sloppiness and they can get
- 1:24:38Speaker 3: it fixed sooner rather than later. You don't want to
- 1:24:40Speaker 3: go half a season and you know, sort of waste
- 1:24:43Speaker 3: an opportunity.
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: On the subject of whether or not the team or
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: offense looks better than last year, most interesting Patriots fan
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: in the world, James Pettigrew, writs in just my two cents,
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: but neither of you looked better than last year.
- 1:24:54Speaker 3: Well that's the thing.
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: Come on, you can't say that about Paul.
- 1:24:58Speaker 3: Come on, and I would say that the offense looked
- 1:25:01Speaker 3: better than last year, by the way I mean I do.
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: I don't want to come across like that. I just
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: especially Sunday. Yeah, my confidence is first game, it didn't
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: look better than last year, but on Sunday it did.
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: Eldred's in North Carolina, what's up? Eldred?
- 1:25:19Speaker 14: Hey, Alex, Hey tellers, tell y'all doing Hey, the email
- 1:25:24Speaker 14: ain't wrong. Carolina said they gonna whoop our button, won't
- 1:25:27Speaker 14: steak him.
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: Up there they think that huh okay, and you're talking
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: about the fans or is this trash talk coming from
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: the locker.
- 1:25:34Speaker 14: Room, coming from the fans from the locker room, Oh,
- 1:25:38Speaker 14: the fans, Okay, the problem. But the problem with that
- 1:25:40Speaker 14: is kick is hurt a quarter of past chat some
- 1:25:45Speaker 14: of the top guys or the wide receivers. So if
- 1:25:48Speaker 14: they beat us with Renfro and two guys up the
- 1:25:50Speaker 14: pactor squad, me and Greg are gonna have a talk.
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I hear that.
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: Yeah yeah. So just to read this long list of
- 1:25:58Speaker 3: guys that didn't practice yesterday for Carolina, his linebacker Pat Jones,
- 1:26:05Speaker 3: Xaviel lagat Technic Mill and the two receivers Hunter Renfro
- 1:26:08Speaker 3: was a personal day off. I'm not sure exactly what
- 1:26:11Speaker 3: that was about. Jatavian Sanders is the tight end he
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: had an ankle. Uh, Turk Wharton and dj one them playing.
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: Uh So those guys all out like they did not practice.
- 1:26:21Speaker 3: So there's, you know, to the Eldridge's point. Eldred's point,
- 1:26:27Speaker 3: there's a significant amount of Panthers that will not be
- 1:26:29Speaker 3: taking part in this game. So no real and no excuse.
- 1:26:34Speaker 14: One more question, one more question. I'll let y'all go. Hey,
- 1:26:40Speaker 14: have y'all been watching Taekwan Thornton lately with the Chief?
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: Yeah, he's been okay some place.
- 1:26:47Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:26:47Speaker 14: Yeah, he dropped one, he catched two, dropped one, catch two.
- 1:26:52Speaker 14: I mean they keep going to them. Do you think
- 1:26:55Speaker 14: we didn't we didn't development good enough or he just yeah, yeah,
- 1:27:03Speaker 14: take it.
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: Off the air, all right, thank you.
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: I think he has Patrick Mahomes.
- 1:27:06Speaker 5: Patrick Mahomes didn't actually utilize his speed. I don't think
- 1:27:10Speaker 5: Mac Jones could.
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: Yeah, that's it, that's the angry. Yeah, mac Jones will
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: make me look good, Patrick, I mean not Patrick Mahomes.
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: Who's this Christian in La? What do you get to say?
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: You know, like i'd say today, guys that first of all,
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: I do think that we're gonna win going going away
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: in this game. I think Caroline's a little banged up.
- 1:27:35Speaker 17: And if we get.
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: Of Gonzo, I think that's good enough to shut down
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: Tet anyway.
- 1:27:40Speaker 3: But uh, twenty five percent of Gonzo would be good
- 1:27:44Speaker 3: enough to shut down a receiver. Is that what you
- 1:27:47Speaker 3: just said?
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: Nick Millnane, I don't I don't think. I don't think
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: his running is crisp enough to really take advantage of
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: Gonzo even at twenty five.
- 1:27:55Speaker 3: If he was twenty five percent, he wouldn't be out there.
- 1:27:57Speaker 2: But whatever, you get what I'm saying, Paul, Come.
- 1:28:01Speaker 3: On, No, I mean, I'm sorry. A quarter of a
- 1:28:03Speaker 3: player is not good enough to shut down an NFL player.
- 1:28:05Speaker 3: I mean, I'm sorry. There's nobody that good. Deon Sanders.
- 1:28:08Speaker 3: A quarter of Deion Sanders wouldn't shut down again. Five
- 1:28:12Speaker 3: percent effort is.
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: Good enough for me. Yeah, well shut down, pet.
- 1:28:17Speaker 3: Let's move on to silly comment.
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: It's not fill the comment, Paul.
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: It's a very silly comment.
- 1:28:23Speaker 19: I think in a week four right, it's.
- 1:28:25Speaker 3: Disrespectful coming.
- 1:28:28Speaker 5: Paul.
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: The comment was the comment brother and.
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: He says it's disrespectful.
- 1:28:35Speaker 3: It's disrespectful.
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: You know, when I come to to let Stadium later
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: on the season, Paul, you and I are going to
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: have a talk.
- 1:28:42Speaker 5: Oh oh, set him outside.
- 1:28:45Speaker 3: Oh I look forward to that barrel laughs. That'll you do?
- 1:28:50Speaker 14: Okay?
- 1:28:51Speaker 3: Oh?
- 1:28:51Speaker 23: You know what else?
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: I'm going to send you guys some Christian in La
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: button to put on love Christian La. Christian in La.
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: I want to see you. Guys are gonna way. They
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: should be in about two weeks. By the way, it
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: was supposed to be a surprise.
- 1:29:03Speaker 5: Christian, when are you coming?
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: I'm coming in December.
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: Okay, Okay, we got to move on because we got
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: we got other callers, and we got passed. So I
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: just want to clear the phones. Thanks Christian. Ben's in Brooklyn.
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: What's up Ben?
- 1:29:22Speaker 10: Hey guys, first time caller. Just wanted to see if
- 1:29:25Speaker 10: I could build a bridge between Evan and Paul with
- 1:29:29Speaker 10: respect to the analytics and going forward on fourth down.
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: I like that grasping hands, So let's build a bridge
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: so bad.
- 1:29:36Speaker 3: I'm looking forward to hearing what you say. But just
- 1:29:39Speaker 3: I just want to clarify. I love going forward on
- 1:29:41Speaker 3: fourth down, So I don't think this is going to
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: be a hot own fifteen. Just just not at my
- 1:29:46Speaker 3: own fifteen.
- 1:29:47Speaker 10: Okay, that's exactly where I want to start. So look,
- 1:29:53Speaker 10: I mean, I think analytics are great. I work in
- 1:29:55Speaker 10: the field, and I think where they've really done a
- 1:29:58Speaker 10: good job is what I call predicting the past rather
- 1:30:02Speaker 10: than the future. So by that, I mean, you know,
- 1:30:06Speaker 10: growing up, I could tell Jerry Rice was good because
- 1:30:08Speaker 10: he was fast and tall. But now we can tell,
- 1:30:11Speaker 10: you know, player gets good separation. You know they can
- 1:30:15Speaker 10: win at the catchpoint, et cetera. And I think all
- 1:30:17Speaker 10: that stuff is super useful so explaining why someone's good.
- 1:30:22Speaker 10: But I think especially with with fourth down, you know,
- 1:30:27Speaker 10: there's there's only yes or no. You know, there's not
- 1:30:31Speaker 10: like degrees of success, and I don't think stats work
- 1:30:35Speaker 10: really well for that. And secondly, they totally ignore the
- 1:30:39Speaker 10: context and they totally ignore the consequence. So you know,
- 1:30:43Speaker 10: if you had a stat that showed that I could
- 1:30:46Speaker 10: walk across the mass Pike blindfolded at four am, you know,
- 1:30:50Speaker 10: eighty percent of the time, I'm still not interested in
- 1:30:53Speaker 10: doing it, right, I think you know what happens at
- 1:30:58Speaker 10: fourth fourth down from your own fifteen is you know,
- 1:31:03Speaker 10: first of all, I don't think that's happened one hundred
- 1:31:06Speaker 10: times in a game, right, So I don't know where
- 1:31:08Speaker 10: the stats are even coming from.
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: Right, where's the data set the game?
- 1:31:11Speaker 15: Right?
- 1:31:11Speaker 3: And that you illustrated it perfectly ben for me, because
- 1:31:17Speaker 3: I don't think that they do that. I think the
- 1:31:19Speaker 3: numbers are just fourth and one, And I agree with you,
- 1:31:23Speaker 3: fourth and one from the other team's ten is a
- 1:31:25Speaker 3: lot different than fourth and one from your own fifteen.
- 1:31:27Speaker 3: But I don't think it differentiates.
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not sure it does or it doesn't, but
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: it should if it doesn't.
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: But to Ben's point, like, where's the data on fourth
- 1:31:36Speaker 3: and one from your own fifteen? Right, that's not like
- 1:31:39Speaker 3: a desperation situation at the end of the game, right,
- 1:31:41Speaker 3: you have to go for you know, totally different yea
- 1:31:43Speaker 3: of the game, right, But in the second quarter of
- 1:31:45Speaker 3: a fourteen to seven game. Yeah, I don't think there's
- 1:31:48Speaker 3: a lot of data for.
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: That, all right, Ted, Ben, don't be a stranger. I
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: like it, Ben, I like first time call again or
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: email thank you for the call. I just want to
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: clean out the phone lines here, Ted in San Diego?
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: What's up?
- 1:32:01Speaker 3: Ted, San Diego?
- 1:32:03Speaker 18: Hi, Hey, good, good afternoon everybody. So I got three
- 1:32:08Speaker 18: very quick points. First off, I know that Paul and
- 1:32:13Speaker 18: I have not together, but obviously have a history of
- 1:32:15Speaker 18: following this team. I started back in the late sixties.
- 1:32:20Speaker 18: I still get angered when people talk about the history
- 1:32:23Speaker 18: of the team and the just completely gloss over the
- 1:32:27Speaker 18: Chuck Fairbanks era. I just feel like if Craft had
- 1:32:31Speaker 18: been the owner of the team back during those days,
- 1:32:34Speaker 18: we might have had a dynasty going back during that
- 1:32:37Speaker 18: era because that team was loaded with some great players,
- 1:32:42Speaker 18: did he and Buckle o'killroy is I think Paul will
- 1:32:45Speaker 18: remember did most of the drafting back in those days,
- 1:32:47Speaker 18: and I just feel like that era gets glossed over
- 1:32:51Speaker 18: and that the Satriots only became the Patriots when Parcels
- 1:32:54Speaker 18: came to the team.
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: Fairbanks was a really good talent evaluator as well as
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: bucko kilroy.
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: And you made a great point of about the ownership too.
- 1:33:01Speaker 3: If Robert Craft was the owner in the seventies, you know,
- 1:33:04Speaker 3: Chuck Fairbanks wouldn't have left, They wouldn't have had all
- 1:33:07Speaker 3: the holdouts that they had every year contractually. So yeah,
- 1:33:11Speaker 3: it was it. I mean, those are the teams in
- 1:33:13Speaker 3: my childhood, you know, that sort of seventy eight team
- 1:33:16Speaker 3: was like the first team I really, you know, seventy
- 1:33:18Speaker 3: six was the first game I ever went to, but
- 1:33:20Speaker 3: seventy eight and I was, you know, I was ten
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: years old. That's like in the whealelhouse.
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: Spite the ownership, the good teams.
- 1:33:26Speaker 3: They were really really teams. Ted's right, they you know
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: in Fairbanks drafted all those guys, you know, Stanley Morgan,
- 1:33:33Speaker 3: Raymond Clayble and Mike Haynes, Tim Fox, Pete Brock, Steve Grogan,
- 1:33:36Speaker 3: John Hannah, like just the Steve Nelson backbone of some
- 1:33:40Speaker 3: really really good teams.
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 1:33:44Speaker 18: Yeah. My second quick point is what I think my
- 1:33:46Speaker 18: favorite Ourselves quote during the after game or during the
- 1:33:53Speaker 18: week comments with the press. Somebody had commented one of
- 1:33:57Speaker 18: the writers said, well, Bill, I heard from an inside
- 1:33:59Speaker 18: source such and such in parcels. He says, wait a second,
- 1:34:03Speaker 18: he says, I've got one inside source. It's my brother.
- 1:34:06Speaker 18: He's a banker in New Jersey, and none of you
- 1:34:08Speaker 18: guys know who he is, so don't tell me about
- 1:34:10Speaker 18: inside sources.
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: And then my.
- 1:34:14Speaker 18: Last comment is just about this offense. And again, I've
- 1:34:18Speaker 18: been a fan a long time, but I don't propose
- 1:34:20Speaker 18: that I know anything about football. But I just this offense,
- 1:34:23Speaker 18: and I think Alex alluded to it a little bit.
- 1:34:26Speaker 18: This offense. I just don't like the five yard passes.
- 1:34:29Speaker 18: It's kind of been Josh's history with the team, and
- 1:34:32Speaker 18: I just feel like they need to go downfield a
- 1:34:35Speaker 18: little bit more than they do, because it just seems
- 1:34:37Speaker 18: like the defense can play closer to the line, they
- 1:34:40Speaker 18: don't really fear anybody going downfield, and I think it
- 1:34:43Speaker 18: makes it rough on the running game as well, but
- 1:34:45Speaker 18: keeps up the great work and I'll continue to listen.
- 1:34:47Speaker 3: All right, that's Ted, So I largely agree with a
- 1:34:50Speaker 3: lot I do.
- 1:34:51Speaker 23: I do.
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: That's where you want to get to, is what Ted's
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: talking about. I wonder if Josh thinks if Drake is
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: ready for that, because when he, you know, standing the
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: pocket and waiting for something to develop, not necessarily all
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: the way downfield, but you know, fifteen yards away, twelve
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: fifteen yards away, I think I think he wants to
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: ease him into that. It just maybe because of the
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: accuracy in the he gets all exciting.
- 1:35:20Speaker 5: Maybe.
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: Yeah. So we'll see. We'll see how this thing progresses.
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: Like I said, it's too earling the season to define
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: the offense or the team as a whole. But we'll
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: see how things progress. We're waiting for Duce, right, we
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: can't start until Duce gets here. Oh okay, yeah, yep,
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: But okay, all right.
- 1:35:43Speaker 3: So the analytics call though, I really liked, because I
- 1:35:47Speaker 3: do think analytics have helped make the game better in
- 1:35:51Speaker 3: terms of encouraging these coaches to not just do it
- 1:35:54Speaker 3: the way everybody always did it and punt every time.
- 1:35:57Speaker 3: I think it it lends some intrigue. I just feel like,
- 1:36:00Speaker 3: if you're just judging it on well, it's fourth and
- 1:36:04Speaker 3: X and it says.
- 1:36:05Speaker 23: Look, what was the moon where the players friendly here?
- 1:36:13Speaker 14: Henry Mike? What was it like?
- 1:36:15Speaker 4: Renew like?
- 1:36:19Speaker 5: What was it like in the locker room?
- 1:36:23Speaker 16: All right?
- 1:36:24Speaker 3: Already to run the locker room?
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: Who talked today?
- 1:36:26Speaker 7: I was quiet day in the locker room today. Marcus
- 1:36:28Speaker 7: Jones was the only player we talked to. Not not
- 1:36:31Speaker 7: a lot of great stuff, but I just mean not
- 1:36:34Speaker 7: a lot of you know, the same old stuff. Got
- 1:36:35Speaker 7: to get a win at home, you know, it would
- 1:36:37Speaker 7: be great to get Gonzo back, et cetera, et cetera.
- 1:36:40Speaker 7: I think the most notable thing was just PADDs today.
- 1:36:42Speaker 7: So they're going in the bubble. They got the uppers
- 1:36:44Speaker 7: on which Rabel said last weekday count as as full pads.
- 1:36:47Speaker 3: I guess so I think they did that last week.
- 1:36:49Speaker 3: It was a Thursday instead of Wednesday last week as well, right, I.
- 1:36:52Speaker 7: Guess that's how they're doing it. But uh, otherwise, guys
- 1:36:54Speaker 7: just trying to get out of there. There's not a
- 1:36:55Speaker 7: lot of interviews going on really today.
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: Who was Evan talking to?
- 1:36:59Speaker 4: Evan?
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: Uh?
- 1:37:00Speaker 4: I saw him go up to you when you think
- 1:37:03Speaker 4: it was, Yeah, it was.
- 1:37:04Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 1:37:04Speaker 4: I saw him walk up to him when you.
- 1:37:06Speaker 3: Did, I say, yesterday, probably an offensive lineman. Yeah, and
- 1:37:08Speaker 3: he like, hey, let's likes to talk ball with the
- 1:37:11Speaker 3: offensive line.
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: He does. So yeah, do we get word on what
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: Josh was talking about today?
- 1:37:16Speaker 23: Oh?
- 1:37:16Speaker 7: You know, I haven't had a chance to to review
- 1:37:19Speaker 7: that yet. I'm not sure I did see just echoing
- 1:37:22Speaker 7: the fumbles are a team thing, you know, echoing that
- 1:37:25Speaker 7: sentiment that was.
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: I'm not buying that. I know that's it's great to
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: kind of protect your player, admirable, But running back fumbles,
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: it's the running back hold on, you're.
- 1:37:35Speaker 3: Gonna get hit. I mean, there are examples where you know,
- 1:37:37Speaker 3: a guy just gets the ball and he gets buried
- 1:37:40Speaker 3: and yeah, okay, so that wasn't on the guy right right,
- 1:37:42Speaker 3: but we can all see that. Yeah, you know, go ahead,
- 1:37:46Speaker 3: try You're going to get tackled all right, most places.
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: It's that time of the week, Paul. What happened last week?
- 1:37:58Speaker 3: So Freddy you can continue your strong start and feel
- 1:38:02Speaker 3: for the league. Eleven and five you win the week,
- 1:38:04Speaker 3: followed by Alex ten and six. Not quite up to
- 1:38:09Speaker 3: your standards, but a good record, nonetheless shockingly Paul third
- 1:38:14Speaker 3: place this week, Hey, come back nine and seven. I'm
- 1:38:18Speaker 3: not calling her to comeback. I'm still mired uh and
- 1:38:21Speaker 3: then Mike and Evan at eight and eight.
- 1:38:23Speaker 4: So Evan.
- 1:38:26Speaker 3: The season standings and the overall now have a tie
- 1:38:30Speaker 3: at the top between Alex and Fred at thirty seven
- 1:38:33Speaker 3: and eleventh.
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: Queen of the prom.
- 1:38:37Speaker 5: We should make sashes.
- 1:38:39Speaker 3: Nob okay riding around with the town in the radio. Mike,
- 1:38:46Speaker 3: you are in third place at thirty one and seventeen,
- 1:38:49Speaker 3: followed by Evan at twenty eight and twelve and loser
- 1:38:53Speaker 3: Paul twenty six and twenty two.
- 1:38:55Speaker 4: That is pathetic.
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: You're over five hundred.
- 1:38:58Speaker 3: Well, I've been over five hundred the whole time, but
- 1:39:00Speaker 3: just are around five hundred. That's pathetic. The picks with
- 1:39:05Speaker 3: the spread Fred continues to dominate impeccable Field ten and six,
- 1:39:12Speaker 3: followed by Paul oh at eight and eight. Not good
- 1:39:18Speaker 3: Alex seven and nine, Mike and Evan at six and ten.
- 1:39:22Speaker 3: So the season standings with the spread Fred very impressive
- 1:39:26Speaker 3: twenty nine and nineteen. Gorman, that's a good record. Let's
- 1:39:30Speaker 3: see who's next. Alex twenty three and twenty five. Fred
- 1:39:35Speaker 3: only won over five hundred, ten games over five hundred,
- 1:39:37Speaker 3: he's the only one over five hundred, twenty three and
- 1:39:39Speaker 3: twenty five for Alex, twenty and twenty eight for Mike
- 1:39:45Speaker 3: I'm Sorry, twenty two and twenty six for Evan, followed
- 1:39:48Speaker 3: by Mike at twenty and twenty eight and Loser Boy
- 1:39:51Speaker 3: nineteen and twenty nine Loser Man.
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: There's still a lot of football will be played, a
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: lot of picks to be made.
- 1:39:57Speaker 3: They will lose.
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: All right, let's get going because we're behind the clock
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: here in the chain behind the chains. Tonight on Prime
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: Video eight point fifteen, it's the two and one Seahawks
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: at the two and one.
- 1:40:08Speaker 3: Cardinals, Seattle by one and a half.
- 1:40:14Speaker 7: It did, and I'm not surprised it did. I think
- 1:40:16Speaker 7: there's a lot of money on Seattle tonight, and I'm
- 1:40:19Speaker 7: going to stick with it.
- 1:40:19Speaker 4: I'll take Seattle. I'll lay the point and a half.
- 1:40:23Speaker 5: M I'll go with the home team.
- 1:40:29Speaker 3: This is a tough one. I'm gonna be with Alex.
- 1:40:32Speaker 3: She seems to win more than most. I'm gonna take
- 1:40:34Speaker 3: Arizona as well.
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with Seattle. Seattle wins this game. Now
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: we moved to Sunday at nine thirty in the morning
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: Eastern Time on NFL Network. You know what that means, Mike, Yeah,
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: this is the this is the two This is the
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: two and one Vikings at the two and one Steelers,
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: and I believe this game is being played in AIRD
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: in Dublin.
- 1:40:58Speaker 3: It means I get a little red Zone on action
- 1:41:00Speaker 3: going during the pregame show as well as the postgame show.
- 1:41:03Speaker 3: Minnesota by two and a half.
- 1:41:06Speaker 7: So Minnesota one of the most shocking results of the
- 1:41:08Speaker 7: last week. I did not see that coming with Carson
- 1:41:10Speaker 7: Wentz and man, they poured a ton of yards on them.
- 1:41:13Speaker 4: I gotta think they keep it going.
- 1:41:14Speaker 7: I'm gonna take Minnesota in Ireland and I will lay
- 1:41:18Speaker 7: the two and half points.
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Wow, Yeah, short flight.
- 1:41:31Speaker 3: I kind of agree with Mike that I didn't see
- 1:41:33Speaker 3: the Vikings coming. But maybe Kevin O'Connell is just that good.
- 1:41:37Speaker 3: I'm going to take the Vikings.
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: Yeah. Now you say it's a short shorter flight, but
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: because of the curvature of the globe, is it actually
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: I think I think it might be either the same
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: or a little shorter from I don't know, maybe not. Yeah,
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: CBS one o'clock.
- 1:41:54Speaker 3: Would you pick?
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: Oh, I'm picking the Vikings CBS one o'clock. The two
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: and one Commanders are at the one and two Falcons.
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: Falcons reeling a little bit.
- 1:42:04Speaker 3: Here, Washington by one and a half.
- 1:42:08Speaker 4: I think, does it look like Jay Daniels's in a fight?
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: I sounds like he won't be playing.
- 1:42:13Speaker 3: I think he's trying to convince the doctors to let him,
- 1:42:16Speaker 3: but I'm not sure. Yeah, I just after how Atlanta
- 1:42:19Speaker 3: looked last Week's hard to pick them. No matter who's
- 1:42:21Speaker 3: playing quarterback for Washington. It's a close spread, so I'll
- 1:42:24Speaker 3: take Washington. I'll lay the point and a half Washington.
- 1:42:29Speaker 3: So one of the things that Fred Kersh has taught
- 1:42:31Speaker 3: me in his illustrious career picking these games is that
- 1:42:34Speaker 3: teams are never quite as bad as they look at
- 1:42:37Speaker 3: their worst. I got to think Atlanta is a better
- 1:42:40Speaker 3: team than that. At home, they rally and they come
- 1:42:43Speaker 3: up with a win. Can we do caveat picks?
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: Like if Jade and Daniels plays, it's one way.
- 1:42:48Speaker 4: And I mean, you've got the gambling parlance book, I'll allow.
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: It, okay, if Jade and Daniels plays Commanders, if not
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: Falcons all.
- 1:42:56Speaker 3: Right, I'm gonna write down at Yeah.
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: No, no, should all be able to do that's a
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: big deal. We don't have the info.
- 1:43:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I got the confidence in Washington. Okay, I just
- 1:43:05Speaker 3: put an asterisk down. Okay, so that'll remind me that
- 1:43:09Speaker 3: I think that's only fair. I mean, who am I
- 1:43:11Speaker 3: to make fun of? I've picked both the Patriots and
- 1:43:13Speaker 3: the other team the last two weeks in a row.
- 1:43:15Speaker 3: I'm finally going to get off that train this week. Okay,
- 1:43:17Speaker 3: So I'm not making fun of anyone for covering all bases.
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: One o'clock CBS, The oh and three Saints are at
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: the three and oh Bills.
- 1:43:25Speaker 3: Buffalo by fifteen and a half.
- 1:43:27Speaker 4: Ye wow, a lot of points.
- 1:43:29Speaker 7: Uh yeah, definitely Buffalo. Just a question of do you
- 1:43:33Speaker 7: think the Saints are going to have any fight? I
- 1:43:35Speaker 7: do not think they will.
- 1:43:36Speaker 4: I'm gonna lay off fifteen and a half of those.
- 1:43:40Speaker 5: I'm gonna take Buffalo, but I can't. The spread scares
- 1:43:44Speaker 5: me so.
- 1:43:46Speaker 3: Sneaky cover maybe Yeah, I'm gonna do the same thing.
- 1:43:49Speaker 3: I don't think this game will be in question, but
- 1:43:53Speaker 3: fifteen and a half's a lot. I'll take Buffalo to win.
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: I mean, everyone thought that last week they were just
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: going to destroy the Dolphins and it was a one
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: touchdown game. Ten points, ten points, yeah, fair by twelve. Yeah,
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: So I'm gonna take the Bills, but i will take
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: those points. I will take those points. Watch your fingers
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: window quld slam shot on them one o'clock on Fox.
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: The one and two Browns are at the two and
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: one Lions. That was a big win for the Lions
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: last week.
- 1:44:28Speaker 3: Destois by ten.
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: Ten.
- 1:44:32Speaker 4: I'm gonna get a little crazy here.
- 1:44:34Speaker 7: I'm gonna take Detroit to win at home, but I
- 1:44:35Speaker 7: think maybe a little bit of a letdown coming off
- 1:44:37Speaker 7: that big win over Baltimore on Monday night, short week,
- 1:44:40Speaker 7: maybe they don't quite cover it.
- 1:44:42Speaker 4: I'll take Cleveland plus ten.
- 1:44:44Speaker 5: I feel the same way.
- 1:44:50Speaker 3: I'm going to take Detroit to cover. I'm going to
- 1:44:52Speaker 3: say that they are really intent on showing everybody that
- 1:44:56Speaker 3: it wasn't just about Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn and
- 1:44:59Speaker 3: we're a good team without those guys too. And Cleveland
- 1:45:03Speaker 3: getting a lot of props after they win against green
- 1:45:05Speaker 3: Bay smelling their own parts well. They do have a
- 1:45:08Speaker 3: good defense defense and they have for a few Detroit
- 1:45:11Speaker 3: has a really good offense. I'll take the Lions both ways.
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: I'm gonna take the Lions both ways. Paul, So you're
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: in good shape on this game. One o'clock CBS, The
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: oh and three Titans are at the Owen three Texans.
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: Somebody's gonna get off the shots.
- 1:45:27Speaker 3: Didn't buy seven.
- 1:45:29Speaker 4: Seven? Huh?
- 1:45:32Speaker 3: Cam Ward banged up to by the way, Yeah, I
- 1:45:34Speaker 3: miss some practice time, yeah, c J. Stroud.
- 1:45:37Speaker 7: I mean it's it seems like they're having some struggles
- 1:45:39Speaker 7: there right now. Offensive line of problem. He's got two touchdowns,
- 1:45:42Speaker 7: three interceptions, not going great. I would take Houston to win. Shoot,
- 1:45:47Speaker 7: I probably would take the points if if he was
- 1:45:50Speaker 7: playing the quarterback for Tennessee.
- 1:45:52Speaker 3: Can't but I'm gonna know that. I don't know that
- 1:45:53Speaker 3: he's not playing. I just think he missed some practice
- 1:45:56Speaker 3: time yesterday.
- 1:45:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I get crazy. I'm gonna I'll take I will
- 1:45:59Speaker 4: take the points. I'll take the points plus seven for Tennessee.
- 1:46:02Speaker 5: Please can you all do the same thing?
- 1:46:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm gonna take Houston both ways. They've been disappointing,
- 1:46:10Speaker 3: but I think they are a better team than than
- 1:46:13Speaker 3: Tennessee right now and at home, and they take out
- 1:46:16Speaker 3: some frustrations on the Titans.
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: I agree, Texans both ways. CBS one o'clock the three
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: and oho Chargers are at the zero to three.
- 1:46:26Speaker 3: Giants charge is by six.
- 1:46:31Speaker 4: Checks in dark time for the Giants.
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: Justin Herbert early MVP candidate, He's.
- 1:46:35Speaker 3: Played really, really well.
- 1:46:37Speaker 4: That's a great observation, Fred. I'm gonna take the Chargers
- 1:46:40Speaker 4: to win, and I'm gonna lay the points against a rookie.
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: Now at six six, do we mention that Dart's gonna
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: yeah quarterback?
- 1:46:53Speaker 18: Yes?
- 1:46:54Speaker 3: So I really like the Chargers, I really like Justin Herbert,
- 1:46:58Speaker 3: and I think it's a really good team. But this
- 1:47:01Speaker 3: is the kind of game that the Chargers traditionally stumble.
- 1:47:06Speaker 3: I think the meadow Lands will have a little juice
- 1:47:08Speaker 3: with Jackson Dart making his first start. I'll take the
- 1:47:11Speaker 3: Giants post the upset. Oh oh, light out. I'm not
- 1:47:16Speaker 3: gonna quite go there, but i will take the points. So, Paul,
- 1:47:21Speaker 3: you might be onto something. Well, if it goes the
- 1:47:24Speaker 3: way the whole season's gone, the Giants will lose this
- 1:47:27Speaker 3: game by seven points. They'll have a lead and not
- 1:47:32Speaker 3: only won't pull the upset off, but they'll lose the
- 1:47:34Speaker 3: cover by a point. And that is why my friend,
- 1:47:37Speaker 3: you go nineteen and twenty nine. They hate spread Fox,
- 1:47:40Speaker 3: hate me Fox.
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: At one o'clock, the three and oh Eagles are at
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: the three and oh Bucks. Something has to.
- 1:47:46Speaker 3: Give Eagles by three and a half.
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: Get rowed.
- 1:47:51Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:47:51Speaker 4: I picked Philadelphia get upset last week. They did not.
- 1:47:54Speaker 3: It's a perfect example of it's screwed. Yeah.
- 1:47:57Speaker 7: I'm finding hard to pick against Bagger Bacon at home.
- 1:48:01Speaker 7: I'm going to take Baker Bacon and I'm going to
- 1:48:04Speaker 7: take those three and a half points for Tampa.
- 1:48:06Speaker 3: Please, I'm going to take the Eagles, So this is
- 1:48:14Speaker 3: a tough one. I'm going to take Tampa to win
- 1:48:18Speaker 3: the game outright on with Mike. Last year, Philly went
- 1:48:21Speaker 3: into Tampa and the Bucks absolutely eviscerated them. It looked
- 1:48:24Speaker 3: like Nick Sirianni might lose his job everything. Then they
- 1:48:27Speaker 3: never lost again. It was like ridiculous after that point.
- 1:48:31Speaker 3: But does Philadelphia remember that game and come in here
- 1:48:34Speaker 3: with something to prove or is Tampa just a bad
- 1:48:37Speaker 3: matchup for Philadelphia. We'll find out on Sun Go with
- 1:48:39Speaker 3: Fred's guy gonna let Baker Baker bake.
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: I'm going to go the other way. I think the
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: Eagles are a really solid team and I'm gonna they're
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: going to actually beat the bake So Eagles to cover.
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: And now we skip over the Patriots at one o'clock
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: and we go to four five on Fox, it's the
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: three and oh Colts at the two and one Rams.
- 1:49:05Speaker 3: Good game, the lar by three and a half.
- 1:49:08Speaker 4: Yeah, this is a great game. I mean, Indy definitely
- 1:49:10Speaker 4: the surprise of the league right now.
- 1:49:12Speaker 7: Daniel Jones playing out of his mind ken of continue
- 1:49:16Speaker 7: against Sean McVay and the ROMs. You know, I'm gonna
- 1:49:19Speaker 7: go throw back win for the Rams and I will yeah,
- 1:49:23Speaker 7: you know what, I'm gonna take the points, though I
- 1:49:25Speaker 7: think it's gonna be close.
- 1:49:26Speaker 4: One I'll get. I'll give the Colts some respect to
- 1:49:29Speaker 4: four and a half.
- 1:49:29Speaker 3: Three and a half.
- 1:49:30Speaker 12: Yes, sorry, love what the Colts are doing this year,
- 1:49:34Speaker 12: but my head says Rams both ways at home.
- 1:49:39Speaker 3: I'm going to take the Rams both ways also, but
- 1:49:44Speaker 3: I think the Colts are onto something. I think they're
- 1:49:46Speaker 3: doing all right. I think they've improved dramatically. But I'll
- 1:49:50Speaker 3: take the Lar at home, coming off a loss that
- 1:49:52Speaker 3: they've probably kicking themselves. They had that game in the pocket. Yeah,
- 1:49:56Speaker 3: twenty six to seven lead, get two field goals blocked
- 1:50:00Speaker 3: down the stretch. Not good.
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: Yeah, word on the street, are the touts are hedging
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: this one? So I'm gonna take the Colts to cover
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: Rams win. But Colts cover that that margin, or win
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: within the margin.
- 1:50:13Speaker 3: Right, I missed it.
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: They're in the margins.
- 1:50:16Speaker 3: I missed it.
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: Fox at four oh five, the two and one Jaguars
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: at the three and oh, forty nine Ers.
- 1:50:24Speaker 3: I think the forty nine ers at three and oh
- 1:50:26Speaker 3: and they're like something like plus six and points something
- 1:50:29Speaker 3: like that. Wait, Niners by three and a half.
- 1:50:34Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean I I think Jacksonville's got a little juice.
- 1:50:38Speaker 7: I like their weaponry. I can't believe I'm gonna do it,
- 1:50:40Speaker 7: but I'm gonna take Mac again.
- 1:50:42Speaker 6: He playing still Matt Jones.
- 1:50:44Speaker 4: Oh no, but it should be.
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: I think he's hurt.
- 1:50:48Speaker 5: Is hurt too.
- 1:50:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not up in my San Francisco PCL or something.
- 1:50:52Speaker 4: All right, I'm gonna take San Francisco anywhere.
- 1:50:56Speaker 5: Jacksonville.
- 1:51:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm gonna take San Francisco at home. But I
- 1:51:02Speaker 3: will take the hook, as I like to say, and
- 1:51:05Speaker 3: take Jacksonville to cover Alex.
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: Why we're the King and Queen Jacksonville outright CBS four
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: twenty five, the one and two Ravens at the one
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: and two Chiefs. Who'd have thunk that would be their records?
- 1:51:24Speaker 3: Baltimore by two and a half on the road.
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: In Kansas City. Boy, times have changed.
- 1:51:29Speaker 7: Trying to get that first win, I gotta I'm gonna
- 1:51:31Speaker 7: go with Lamar. I just think they're too good to
- 1:51:33Speaker 7: be held down this long. Stop funneling the ball, Derrick Henry.
- 1:51:37Speaker 4: I think they'll be okay. Sent Kansas City to a
- 1:51:39Speaker 4: third loss.
- 1:51:42Speaker 3: Ravens Ravens, Yeah, I just think Baltimore is a better
- 1:51:46Speaker 3: team right now. Until the Chiefs get some of their
- 1:51:48Speaker 3: players back, I don't see them having enough weapons to
- 1:51:51Speaker 3: keep up with Lamar Jackson. The Ravens have to win
- 1:51:54Speaker 3: an important game at some point as well, be this one.
- 1:51:57Speaker 1: Ravenswent five CBS one and two Bears at the one
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: and two Raiders.
- 1:52:05Speaker 3: So this is, you know, a wise tut Fred Kersh
- 1:52:10Speaker 3: once told me sometimes there are red flag spreads. Chicago,
- 1:52:16Speaker 3: coming off of just a blowout win over the Cowboys,
- 1:52:20Speaker 3: Caleb Williams played really, really well. They go to a
- 1:52:22Speaker 3: Vegas team that has looked abysmally bad and the Raiders
- 1:52:27Speaker 3: are favorbody one and a half. When you put that sign, what.
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: Do the sharps know?
- 1:52:35Speaker 7: Give me, Caleb Williams. I'll give it a whirl. But
- 1:52:38Speaker 7: you're right, Vegas has not been impressive.
- 1:52:41Speaker 4: I like the Bears Bears.
- 1:52:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I think Chicago is the better team. But I
- 1:52:46Speaker 3: am a scared of this spread, so I'm going to
- 1:52:48Speaker 3: take Vegas. I think that they know something.
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: Well, it could be just a betting thing where they
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: want the money to come in, or they're trying to
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: get more Bear money coming in. I'm going to take
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: the Bears. I think they were a better team. I
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: really so good to pick the better team sometimes.
- 1:53:04Speaker 3: I no, I agree with you guys. I think Chicago's
- 1:53:06Speaker 3: a better team.
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: Uh eight twenty NBC and Universo the two and one
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: Packers against the one and two Cowboys.
- 1:53:16Speaker 3: A Green Bay by seven on the road. Trying to
- 1:53:24Speaker 3: think of something clever to say about Michael Parsons, but
- 1:53:26Speaker 3: nothing to me, so I have just a long pause.
- 1:53:28Speaker 7: Now, well, yeah, that's a Michael Parsons comes home two
- 1:53:32Speaker 7: teams coming off a loss last week. Green Bay I
- 1:53:34Speaker 7: think got humbled a little bit after their hot start.
- 1:53:36Speaker 7: I like green Bay to bounce back with Parsons, I
- 1:53:39Speaker 7: will lay the points.
- 1:53:41Speaker 5: I'm gonna take Dallas. I'm gonna take green Bay to cover.
- 1:53:44Speaker 3: Okay, green Bay by seven.
- 1:53:49Speaker 5: Papers, messing me up again?
- 1:53:50Speaker 3: What you say, green Bay?
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: I don't know where you get that page?
- 1:53:54Speaker 5: That's a big spread?
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: No, is this like created before the season starts?
- 1:54:02Speaker 4: A minute?
- 1:54:03Speaker 3: You have green Bay both ways? Okay? Now, and you
- 1:54:07Speaker 3: have on this spread it says Dallas is favored.
- 1:54:09Speaker 7: Well, and this I was going by. Honestly, I go
- 1:54:11Speaker 7: by what you're spread though, No I know, but it
- 1:54:13Speaker 7: says this is Dallas five and a half. That doesn't
- 1:54:16Speaker 7: make any sense of.
- 1:54:16Speaker 3: I get a new paper that's a twelve difference in
- 1:54:21Speaker 3: the spread. That's ridiculous.
- 1:54:22Speaker 5: That's what I'm saying. That's such a big spread.
- 1:54:24Speaker 4: I just use it for sure.
- 1:54:25Speaker 3: It doesn't say green Bay was favored by five and
- 1:54:27Speaker 3: a half.
- 1:54:29Speaker 4: No, green Bay plus points five point.
- 1:54:32Speaker 3: That's unbelievable. I don't know where you're getting your information.
- 1:54:35Speaker 4: Your brackets dot com?
- 1:54:37Speaker 3: Yeah, get a new source for green Bay by seven spreading.
- 1:54:42Speaker 4: Yeah, and I took it and I laid it.
- 1:54:44Speaker 3: Okay, took it and broke a mider.
- 1:54:47Speaker 5: What I said, then green Bay wins Dallas covers.
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: Okay, there you go.
- 1:54:51Speaker 16: There.
- 1:54:51Speaker 3: I am going to go with the Douche train and
- 1:54:54Speaker 3: take green Bay both ways?
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: Agree, green Bay both ways? All right? Monday Night, seven fifteen, ESPN,
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: ESPN Deportes. It's the oh and three Jets at the
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: oh and three Dolphins.
- 1:55:09Speaker 3: Great Monday Night, double head. Somebody's got to win Miami
- 1:55:12Speaker 3: by two and a half.
- 1:55:14Speaker 7: Yeah, I'll go with Miami at home against the bad team,
- 1:55:20Speaker 7: but yeah, probably pretty gross game.
- 1:55:22Speaker 5: I'm gonna take Miami. Showed some fight against the Bills.
- 1:55:24Speaker 3: So anybody know if Justin Fields is back.
- 1:55:30Speaker 5: I feel like I saw something on the tweeter.
- 1:55:33Speaker 3: I'm gonna take Miami at home in a concussion Yeah yeah,
- 1:55:36Speaker 3: he was out of last game with a concussion. I'm
- 1:55:39Speaker 3: gonna take Miami at home, but I don't feel great
- 1:55:42Speaker 3: about it.
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna take the Jets.
- 1:55:44Speaker 4: Yeah, feels practicing today.
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: I think the Jets probably have a pretty good answer
- 1:55:49Speaker 1: for Tua. The Dolphins would be hard pressed to score.
- 1:55:54Speaker 3: And in fairness, the Jets have had a real opportunity
- 1:55:56Speaker 3: to win two of their games. I mean, I suppose
- 1:55:59Speaker 3: you could make that argument for the Dolphins too, but
- 1:56:02Speaker 3: I don't really think they were much of a chance
- 1:56:04Speaker 3: to win.
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: The Bills game eight fifteen on ABC, So it's a
- 1:56:08Speaker 1: double header on the on the mouse and it's what
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: you like.
- 1:56:10Speaker 3: Yeah to seven and eight o'clock.
- 1:56:12Speaker 1: Seven and eight, so I can watch both U two
- 1:56:14Speaker 1: and one Bengals are at the of course, one and
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: two Broncos home. Yep, they love that. You can see
- 1:56:22Speaker 1: the mountains in the background.
- 1:56:23Speaker 6: Blah blah blah.
- 1:56:25Speaker 3: Broncos by seven and a half.
- 1:56:28Speaker 4: Uh, this is a tough one. I mean, it was
- 1:56:31Speaker 4: a little surprised by Cincinnat's result last week. I'm gonna
- 1:56:33Speaker 4: take Denver at home. I feel like they're kind of
- 1:56:37Speaker 4: do lay the points. That defense against Jake Browning should
- 1:56:40Speaker 4: do the job.
- 1:56:41Speaker 5: Yeah, Denver lay it.
- 1:56:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm gonna take Denver to win, too, but that's
- 1:56:46Speaker 3: a lot of points. I'm going to take the points.
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: Yeah, there's no place like home every week, so Broncos
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: both ways.
- 1:56:52Speaker 3: Yeah to your point though, And I can't remember for sure,
- 1:56:55Speaker 3: but I think Buffalo may be starting with four home
- 1:56:58Speaker 3: games in the first five weeks something like that.
- 1:57:00Speaker 1: Yeah, they were on the road.
- 1:57:02Speaker 3: I think whether they went to the Jets but they
- 1:57:04Speaker 3: opened it at home against Baltimore, then they went to
- 1:57:07Speaker 3: the Jets, they were home against Miami, and now they're
- 1:57:11Speaker 3: home again. Now they're home again, and then they're home again,
- 1:57:13Speaker 3: and then they're home again next week against the Patriots.
- 1:57:15Speaker 3: Is that for the first five games?
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: Maybe towards the end they need like, no, I'm being
- 1:57:22Speaker 1: serious here, maybe towards in December. I haven't looked at
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: the schedule, but they need to get out of there
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: because they're doing stuff for the new stadium.
- 1:57:30Speaker 3: Like they might have to close the interesting thing.
- 1:57:33Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:57:33Speaker 1: Yeah, So they forfeited those games because no owner in
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: his right mind would say, oh, I'll have a bunch
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: of road games at the end of.
- 1:57:41Speaker 5: This Well they do have too. Yeah, two home games
- 1:57:44Speaker 5: at the end of the season.
- 1:57:46Speaker 1: So how do they finish the se.
- 1:57:49Speaker 5: So let's start with end of November. Okay, December.
- 1:57:54Speaker 12: Yeah, home against the Bengals, away against US, away against
- 1:57:59Speaker 12: the Browns, and then two games at home against my
- 1:58:03Speaker 12: series out.
- 1:58:03Speaker 3: They must have a good stretch of road games in
- 1:58:06Speaker 3: the middle.
- 1:58:06Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, Now we go back to one o'clock
- 1:58:10Speaker 1: on Fox. I don't think Brady's calling this game. It's
- 1:58:14Speaker 1: the one and two Panthers at the one and two Patriots.
- 1:58:19Speaker 4: Pretty good.
- 1:58:20Speaker 3: Sorry, the Patriots by five and a half.
- 1:58:22Speaker 4: Five and a half. Let's go, what's my score?
- 1:58:27Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:58:28Speaker 4: Oh jeez, yeah, no, that's good. All right.
- 1:58:31Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm gonna go Patriots on this one. Must win
- 1:58:33Speaker 7: for them in many regards. I think they clean up
- 1:58:36Speaker 7: the turnovers. I think they put together a pretty good win,
- 1:58:39Speaker 7: get some momentum going into Buffalo. I'm gonna take Patriots
- 1:58:42Speaker 7: twenty seven to seventeen.
- 1:58:46Speaker 5: Patriots twenty seven Panthers fourteen.
- 1:58:52Speaker 3: Yeah, Mike changed his score from Monday. Twenty seven to
- 1:58:57Speaker 3: thirteen was the score that Mike and I both came
- 1:59:00Speaker 3: up at.
- 1:59:01Speaker 4: Seventeen.
- 1:59:01Speaker 3: I give the team for the TV show. I just
- 1:59:05Speaker 3: feel like the Panthers don't have enough offense to keep up,
- 1:59:09Speaker 3: and I think the Patriots will wear down that defense.
- 1:59:13Speaker 3: I think you can run on them. I think the
- 1:59:15Speaker 3: Patriots want to run the ball more effectively. Just got
- 1:59:17Speaker 3: to hold onto it. You hold onto it, you should
- 1:59:19Speaker 3: be able to win this game twenty seven to thirteen.
- 1:59:22Speaker 1: Folks, For the second time this season, I am guaranteeing
- 1:59:28Speaker 1: a Patriots win. And not only am I guaranteeing a win,
- 1:59:31Speaker 1: I'm guaranteeing a blowout forty one to ten Patriots. I
- 1:59:38Speaker 1: was right on the thirty burger last time. I'm going
- 1:59:41Speaker 1: to be right on the forty steak this time. It's
- 1:59:46Speaker 1: not a burger. It's a steak. Forty one to ten
- 1:59:49Speaker 1: Patriots over the Panthers. Not all the points come on offense,
- 1:59:52Speaker 1: but they're going to have forty one points.
- 1:59:57Speaker 3: Well, I go, that's for sure.
- 2:00:00Speaker 1: He doesn't believe. I believe.
- 2:00:01Speaker 3: Oh, I believe this is going to be an easy win.
- 2:00:03Speaker 10: I do.
- 2:00:04Speaker 1: Really, Yeah, twenty seven thirteen. That's a that's a good
- 2:00:07Speaker 1: that's good for you. That's a that's a huge blow
- 2:00:09Speaker 1: I need it. That's like a seven nothing soccer score
- 2:00:12Speaker 1: for you. Yeah, it'll be a great soccer you know soccer. Right,
