- Owen Wilson: Bills Mafia. Are you ready? From North Carolina to Buffalo. The Mafia is united. This is your home for the passion, the power, and the pride of the Buffalo Bills. Welcome to Bills Mafia Carolina Takeover. Bills did it. The Bills are 3-0. It was not pretty whatsoever. Certainly not what we all anticipated. And we're gonna talk about it next on Mafia Mayhem. Welcome to Mafia Mayhem, where we recap the game and it was not a fun game. It was not a fun game. It was a game that I thought was going to be very close. I actually thought this might have come down to a field goal. I know I didn't mention that I thought the Bills were gonna win by ten. and I felt that the Bills offense eventually would have taken over the game and would be too tough for the Chargers, but that didn't happen. The Bills struggled on offense mightily throughout the entire game. James Cook gives up the fumble. First play of the game. That's going to hurt you. Especially when you got special teams that gives the ball to Josh on the 50-yard line. The Chargers did what they needed to do. The Chargers were reeling. They're 0-2, and they came into Buffalo and they. Got on the board early, which is what the Chargers need to do, which any would any 0 and 2 team needs to do. And they took advantage of that. The problem was the Chargers couldn't bury us. Now, I'm not quite sure that's a reflection of the Bills' defense, you know, stopping them in a sense, because the Bills defense is reeling right now. I think that's more of a reflection of what we talked about last week, especially with Taylor, is the offense. You get The Chargers who are 0-2 get down in the red zone and they can't put it away. And when you're an 0-2 team going against a high powered offense like the Bills or any high powered offensive team, and you get five turnovers, you gotta convert those five turnovers. And they can't be field goals. Not against Josh Allen, not against this offense. Obviously, because the Bills turn the ball over five times and they come back and win this game. So that is more For me, that's more of a reflection on the Chargers situation than it is on the Bills defense. The Bills defense, they played great. They kept the Bills in the game, obviously. But that that Chargers offense is reeling right now. And get and and seeing it live and in person, they've got a lot of issues. And I had mentioned it to Taylor in her podcast last week. I thought that if they lose this game, There might be some changes taking place. She didn't feel that way. I'm sure Chargers didn't feel that way, but you're now 0-3. You got five turnovers against a high-powered Bills offense, and you couldn't put it away. So it's going to be interesting to see what the Chargers do going forward because they're in that gauntlet, and this game should have been the first win of the season. And they didn't get it done. Mainly they didn't get it that. The Chargers kept Josh Allen hanging around. And when you when you keep Josh Allen hanging around, Bills fans know this, especially with Kansas City. Eventually the dam's gonna break. Josh is gonna be Josh. Josh is gonna do what he wants to do. Josh is gonna throw a four fourth and seven pass to Ty Johnson while he's basically has two inches in the ⁓ in the pocket, and he gets the first down and then eventually goes in and score. So The Bills offense certainly did not look good. I mean, we can all agree with that, but the defense showed signs of what the defense is going to look this year, and really excited to see this going forward. Now you always know that the mafia mail is open, and we're gonna get to some moss mafia mail right now. The family has spoken. It's All right, this one comes from Jason Miller from Boise, Idaho. Thanks for reaching out. Are we getting too comfortable as a subject? What's up, Owen? Go Bills. After watching the Bills this week, I'm curious about something. We all know Josh Allen could put this team on his back when he needs to, but are we relying too much? Do you think the Bills need to start getting more production than the rest of the offense? Or are you perfectly fine letting Josh Allen be Josh and winning us? Keep up the good, great work, brother. Bills Mafia everywhere, even out here in Idaho. Go Bills. Thank you, my man. Thanks, Jason from Boise Idaho. Appreciate that. Yeah, I mean, this is a popular email that I get. You know, I mean, Josh is Josh. He's gonna win games for you. Josh is gonna be sugar high Josh. Josh is gonna, you know, do things like you're holding on for dear life. But he's gonna end up making those things work out. So, I mean, it's a give and take with Josh. I mean, we've been in this for nine years now. We know what we're gonna get. I feel comfortable with the way the offense is is. We're not gonna be scoring 31 points every game. So This one here ⁓ was a good test. It was a good test for Joel Brady. It it made it was his first real big test as a head coach, and it's something you want to get out early. So I appreciate the email, Jason, and ⁓ if you want to get into the mafia mail, you can do that, Bills MafiaCTO at gmail dot com. That's a Well, thank you again, Jason, for the mafia male. Before we wrap up this episode, a few things for us to take a look at Bill's Mafia. The first one is Benford. As we all know, he was in a boot. That'd be a huge loss for the Bills. And then the other one that was kind of a surprise that's kind of making the way around is Josh Allen's knee. So Josh Allen got hit in the knee by a helmet, and it looked pretty bad. But from all indications and all reports that I've seen out there, this is simply just going to hurt. Just kind of a bruise. Nothing major, thankfully. Some some reports I said that if he had actually planted his foot in the grass, that could have been worse, possibly even season ending. So it's just gonna be sore, kind of like a bruise, those type of things. But we certainly dodged a bullet on there. So just keep keep an eye on that as the week goes on. But I don't I don't suspect Josh being out. He he may not practice a couple, couple days for just some rest on there. But ⁓ I suspect he's full go really for the rest of the season. Obviously, Josh played through different injuries throughout his career. ⁓ so this one it appears to just be just some bruising there. So we'll keep an eye on that. I wanted to hit this up as well, too. Buffalo, the Bills had lost 16 straight, 16 straight games when the Bills turned the ball over five times. So 16 straight losses when the Bills have turned the ball over. Over five plus times. That's a crazy stat, crazy stat. The last time that the Bills actually got a win when they turned the ball over five times was 1997 against the Indianapolis Colts. The QB that day for the Colts in 1997 was Jim Harbaugh. Josh Allen also is the first quarterback in the Super Bowl era to score multiple rushing TDs. In three consecutive games. I mean, we don't really have to talk a whole lot about this. I mentioned it. I mean, Josh Allen is just a pure athlete. Forget about the quarterback. He's the best NFL athlete out there. Joe Brady's the fifth youngest coach in the Super Bowl era to begin his coaching three and ⁓ McDaniels, Madden, and Bill Cower, Mike Tomlin are the only coaches younger than than Brady to win their first three games. How many of you out there, Bill's Mafia, had Joe Brady being three and up in his first in at head coach? I know I did it. I had Houston as a loss, but there it is, Brady, three and ⁓ Allen also has joined, and I mentioned this last week. Allen has officially joined Jim Brown, 1958, Steven Davis, 1999, and Priest Holmes, 2003, as the only player, only player to rush for two DDs. In the first three games of the season. We talked about this. I mean, he is on on pace to break so many rushing records, rushing T D records, surpassing Hall of Fame running backs. And there's just another one. He has 85 career rushing title rushing TDs. And he's tied with Marshawn Lynch for 17th place all time. Man, crazy, crazy. Unbelievable. I mean, so much stuff. So much stuff came out of that game. Allen is now tied with Andre Reid and Thurman Thomas. Okay. Running back wide receiver for the most touchdowns in team history. He has 87. He is going to surpass that. Unbelievable. That is the wrap up of Mafia Mayhem. The Bills get it done at one o'clock in Orchard Park from a reeling 0 2 Chargers team. That I thought was really had a good shot of getting it done. And they really did, but ultimately they couldn't get it in the end zone when they needed to. And the Chargers lose after giving after getting five turnovers against the Bills. And the Bills somehow come out victory after having 16 straight losses with giving up the Rock five plus times. Just incredible. Hopefully, this is a sign going forward. We got New England Patriots who were also reeling. Coming in Sunday against the Bills, and we'll get more into that later this week. As always, be good, do good, God bless, and go Bills.
