- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's up everyone.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome in to Duval Daily, Jack McFall.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: Hope everyone's having a good day as you're.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: Jack's on Jaguars, it was a frustrating one, 20 to 12.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: This past Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: Um, really frustrating game, you know, that it feels like it encapsulated, you know, all of the Jaguars issues that have plagued this entire season, uh, and really stuff that's been promised for what seems like years at this point.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, you know, definitely a tough one to watch and even just watching the broadcast, um, you know, the vibes and that energy at the bank just, it didn't seem to really be there.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: most of the game which is disappointing, I can't I can't I can't believe in the fans it was definitely not a not one to get really excited about so so yeah let's just let's look at some numbers let's crank some numbers and look uh look deeper
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: and door this team stands right now.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: So before getting into the specifics of each side of the ball, I want to start at as usual by addressing penalties.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: These constant penalties that have become extremely concerning.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_00]: It really is honestly hard to believe that this team is foreign to when you look at some of these numbers because they are extremely alarming.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: As of right now, the gywa's are second in the league with 52 except the penalty is first in a league with 34 offense of penalties accepted.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: First in the league in pre-snap penalty is, which is those illegal shifts, those alignment issues, and then this is in penalty related, but 16 drops.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_00]: insane.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I don't, I have no words that like it's that is insane.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, I've tried to give them the benefit of the doubt for it being early in the season and having to get used to this very complex Liam Cohen system.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: But that's not about anymore.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: That excuse is not an excuse anymore.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: Ten penalties on Sundays ridiculous.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: They play six rarely she's in games at this point and it hasn't gotten any better and in some ways I feel like it's gotten worse So got to figure it out It's it's plaguing them.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's hurting them.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's the reason one of the many reasons that they lost this game and It's got to be figured out so With all that being said, let's look directly into the offense, so
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: Um, this is the first week.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_00]: So far that I really don't have a pro to talk about on the offensive side of the ball.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I guess if you had to say one, you could say Brian Thomas.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: He went for 90 yards.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: And the touchdown, which you should have had two scores.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: If Travis Hunter lined up correctly, which they go with the the Priest Nat penalty garbage.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: But, uh,
- 3:10[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I guess he played well, he had the one drop on a perfect throw that killed momentum, which is very frustrating.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, comparing that game especially to his games, the bidding of the season, he seems to be kind of finally finding that groove.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: He's making catches as he's getting hit, which is something that he's seemingly seemingly was concerned about,
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: I guess scaresness to absorb that contact when trying to catch a ball.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: So if he kind of is finding that groove that will be a big help down the stretch for sure.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I mean, that's for the rest of the offense.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: That very bad.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: This is the worst offensive one performance that Shara said to put up with
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: that he's been on.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_00]: And it's really deflating how that happened after how woe they've played, leading up to this game.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think, I think the Robert Hainesy injury didn't help.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, I mean, you lose your starting center, you got a rookie in there, a sixth round rookie.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean, that still no excuses, you can't, you can't use as an excuse, seven sacks, and 39
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: 39 You cannot win a game With the quarterback Being pressured that much and being behind the stick to an penalties seemingly every single drive There's not a single quarterback.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: There's not a single offense That would succeed with those circumstances Yeah, you can't win a game with that.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, this is simple as that.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: That needs to be cleaned up because they will not win a game if they don't win that up
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: And Seattle has a good front, you know, they do, they mix up the pressure well, they have good players.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: But, I mean, the jacks don't figure out these offensive line logos with the penalties, they're screwed.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that is how it is.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to play a good front.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: That's just how that football, every team has at least one player.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: That's good up front, you know.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: And some teams have multiple, like this he walks.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: And you got to figure that out, you know, in this game,
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: across everyone that ran the ball, 19 rushers were 59 yards, which was 3.1 a carry.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sounding a broke record, but again, you're never going to succeed, if that's the case.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, yeah, just not much more to say, it was just a horrific, horrific display of football on the other side, and you see, I mean, one to forget for sure,
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: Looking at the defense, there is one real positive, lone positive, which was the run defense.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: The jacks have been great against the run all season, and this game was no different.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: Kenneth Walker, either, it's 3.4 a carry on 10 carries, and it's actually our run average two on 12 carries.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: So I mean, those were silver lining for the game.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: This defense of front remains elite against the run,
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: was not in for much of the game, you know, with that risk with the club, he didn't play many snaps.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: So even without him, they really looked great against the run, which is a positive something to be happy about.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: And then looking at cons for the defense, it really is everything else.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there was zero pressure on Darnolowe game all day, which was really disappointing
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: I felt like before the game, and I actually brought it up on my Instagram, that a pressure and Donald would have, or was going to be the ex-factor in this game.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: He's shown so many times that he cannot handle pressure and the pocket.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: He freaks out.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: He can't do it.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: Like he will throw picks, he will take sacks, he'll get strips sacks, he'll make bad decisions like that is how he's been, even with how well he's played.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: and it didn't matter because no one showed up to play on the front when it came to Martian the Pazer.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: And the big place too, I mean the offensive has been pretty good with big place, or excuse me, the defense has been pretty good with big place so far, but not, I mean not against the CX, they had those 260 plus yard completions.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: One to Smith and Jacobo, one to Jacobo,
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: The one adjacent was on Greg Newsom, which isn't the best thing to see isn't the best news.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't think this was the issue, but I just don't want to bring it up.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, he didn't have much time to learn the scheme.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: And he, you know, he was in in a plane, he gives up that bomb and it's, you know, if he doesn't know the scheme well enough yet, he shouldn't be on the field like it's that simple.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't want to put it on the coaches because I don't think that was the issue there.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think he just got burned.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: I honestly just think that's what it is.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: But like,
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: if he is not comfortable being out there and doesn't know what's going on well enough yet he shouldn't be out there you know what I mean and and again I don't want to put it on the coaches because I don't think that was on now like I really think he just couldn't keep up with them but yeah I mean just bad
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: How about Jason?
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: No, wow, I mean, the CX got one for going for sure.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: He's an all-pro in the making, no doubt.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that one row he had against, I think it was Buster Brown on the side line where he completely spun him around insane.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's phenomenal.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: There's no doubt about that.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: And I finally looking at the special teams,
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: Camlittle, man, what's going on?
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: What's the issue?
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: A missection point and a misfielgoal, which was four points left on the board alone, as well as the two points that were missed out on, because the offense had to go for two.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: And it was a stupid, run call at the middle that was never gonna work with the way, the offensive line was playing.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_00]: It was never gonna get in.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I still have confidence in the guy.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: He's an incredible talent.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_00]: He's that monster like monster monster like that was his first extra point.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: Missed his life.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: But we are not in a position right now that we can have an inconsistent kicker.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: We have too many other problems, especially on offense.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: We can't have a kicker, but it's missing kicks.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_00]: We need that to solve itself.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it will.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I think he's a great kicker.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: maybe he hasn't really had struggles in his career ever.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: He's having him now.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: He'll get through it.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: I'm very confident he will.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: Logan Cook had a good game, I mean, he pointed eight times, so, you know, he better have, and you know, your player having a good game, quote unquote, isn't necessarily where you're looking for, you know, if he's pointing eight times, that's not what you want, but he had the 160-yard bomb.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he's the only real player right now.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like that we can trust to be consistent, unfortunately, which feels like it's been that free years, unfortunately, but yeah, that's how it is right now.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and looking ahead, you know, the jacks I've, the rams in London, possibly with that proof going to cool, which is big news, that's very big news for, for that defense.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: But they need to get right.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: They need to fix these, you know, subtle-flected mistakes because if they do think it can be anybody, I truly, I can truly, completely believe that if we just cut down on these penalties, I actually caught the football.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_00]: Um, just operationally, we're a better team than we are right now.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: We can beat anybody.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: We can be one of the best teams in this league.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, and I'm confident with this coaching staff that that will happen, but, uh, this past gaming is the sea hoax wasn't there and it's wonderful to get.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: And I hope that's how the team sees it.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: I hope that's how the rest of the fan base sees it.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: I know that's how I see it.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: Um, yeah, so I mean, thank you everyone so much for tuning in, um, you know, tough week for us drags fans, but it's a long season and we still have so much ahead of us, um, yeah, so thanks again for tuning in and, uh, go Jikes.
