0:00
[SPEAKER_00]: Five, six, seven, eight, any.
0:02
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about Lauren Graham's Emmy.
0:04
[SPEAKER_00]: That should have been.
0:06
[SPEAKER_00]: That should have been.
0:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Alright, here we go.
0:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Hi, everybody.
0:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome back to Gilmour to say with Terran Haley.
0:19
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Terran.
0:20
[SPEAKER_01]: This is Haley.
0:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Hi, Haley.
0:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Hi, Terran.
0:22
[SPEAKER_00]: It was the prime time Emmy Awards yesterday and congratulations to all the winners.
0:26
[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know who they are.
0:27
[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know who they are.
0:28
[SPEAKER_00]: I hope you had a good time.
0:29
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm the best.
0:31
[SPEAKER_01]: It was probably the pit, you know, from the beginning.
0:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's true.
0:34
[SPEAKER_00]: That's true.
0:35
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's interesting that you say that because I do feel like, you know, dating back to when Lauren Graham would have been nominated for an Emmy Award for Gilmour Girls, which is what we're here to talk about today.
0:45
[SPEAKER_00]: I also feel like a lot of the nominations and a lot of the predicted winners were one of those things where it was like, it's probably this.
0:52
[SPEAKER_00]: It's probably this.
0:53
[SPEAKER_00]: No, of course.
0:54
[SPEAKER_01]: That's actually why I got into some of the shows that I'm into, is because I was watching the Emmys last year and let's be honest.
1:01
[SPEAKER_00]: I was, I was, yeah, but I was watching the Emmys for Lauren and Alexis for the 2015 anniversary of Gilmore Girls.
1:08
[SPEAKER_00]: I was going to say I can't believe it's been a year since that happened.
1:11
[SPEAKER_01]: I know and I like truly only watched it for them and so as I it was on in the pit kept blending and I was like I guess I had to watch this show and I turned it on that night and then I finished it like a day later because I was locked in for my show for the pit but like speaking of I thought what you were going to talk about was that like ER was on in the early 2000s
1:34
[SPEAKER_00]: It was and so like no wily was there.
1:36
[SPEAKER_01]: He definitely was.
1:39
[SPEAKER_01]: That is so true.
1:40
[SPEAKER_00]: And it was nominated for outstanding drama series the first year that Gilmore Girls could have been as well.
1:45
[SPEAKER_00]: Which is crazy because I of course like I did a little bit of digging on like the history of the Emmy Awards around the time that Gilmore Girls was airing because as we know Gilmore Girls was only ever nominated and won one Emmy Award and it was for makeup for the festival of
2:00
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just crazy to me and that's kind of, that was kind of the birth of this episode, the idea for this episode is that we're like, there's so many other things that I think would have garnered at least enomination for Gilmore Girls in retrospect, but of those Lauren Graham and her performances are certainly at the top of that list.
2:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely, beside myself that she was never nominated.
2:23
[SPEAKER_00]: I agree.
2:24
[SPEAKER_00]: And it started with the 53rd Primetime Emmy Awards, which took place in November of 2001.
2:28
[SPEAKER_00]: They had been pushed because of the September 11th attacks, because it usually takes place around that time.
2:34
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
2:35
[SPEAKER_00]: And the first time that Gilmore Girls would have been eligible was the 53rd Primetime Emmy Awards in Fall of 2001, because the show had just aired in Fall of 2000.
2:45
[SPEAKER_00]: So it wouldn't have been
2:45
[SPEAKER_00]: It wouldn't have been eligible that year.
2:47
[SPEAKER_00]: But looking at all of these shows, looking at all of the nominees like everything we're about to say today is not to take away from the people who were nominated to take away from the people.
2:55
[SPEAKER_00]: One, you know, some of the people who were in contention and did win are just absolutely brilliant.
3:00
[SPEAKER_00]: The shows that were nominated.
3:01
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we're talking about like sex in the city, the West Wing, ER.
3:05
[SPEAKER_00]: everybody loves Raymond.
3:07
[SPEAKER_00]: It's tough because Gilmore Girls is a dromity and I don't know what category it would have fallen into, had they chosen to nominate it.
3:16
[SPEAKER_01]: It's really hard because at that time it was very different but now if it would have been nominated now it would have been nominated as a comedy.
3:23
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah I'm certain because just thinking of like the bear which is like not necessarily
3:30
[SPEAKER_01]: Like in line with what comedy has been nominated like I'm thinking of like modern family Which used to sweep the enemies and like now we have the bear that like I'm thinking that Gilmore girls would have gone in that direction and stuck with comedy and stuck with like the lightness of it because it's very So a lot of the things that we're going to talk about today have to deal with the dramatic subject and the dramatic acting that She is so great at but I do think it would have been in 2026 comedy, but
3:59
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
4:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you know what they submitted it as?
4:02
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
4:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Because you know, I'm looking at a show like Sex in the City, which is also a favorite of mine as everybody knows, and it is quirky.
4:10
[SPEAKER_00]: It has comedic elements, but it's also very dramatic.
4:14
[SPEAKER_00]: And so I understand why it was submitted in the comedy category.
4:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
4:20
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what Gilmore Girls would have, I imagine it would have been
4:24
[SPEAKER_00]: it would have been considered a drama and I personally think that might be the reason why it never fell into either category because when you put it up against shows like Sex and City, everybody loves Raymond Frazier, Malcolm in the Middle and Will and Grace which was the first year it would have been eligible.
4:37
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a whole of that just doesn't fit and then you look at what was nominated for outstanding drama series and you've got the West Wing ER law in order the practice and the sopranos.
4:46
[SPEAKER_00]: The sopranos.
4:47
[SPEAKER_00]: So
4:48
[SPEAKER_00]: Is this a brand-news?
4:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Ah, the practice.
4:51
[SPEAKER_00]: It was a legal comedy drama.
4:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, interesting.
4:54
[SPEAKER_00]: A legal comedy drama.
4:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, so we know it's created by a drama.
4:58
[SPEAKER_01]: The other side of it.
4:59
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's centered on partners and associates and a boss in law firm.
5:03
[SPEAKER_01]: okay well some of those were longer lasting than others but maybe in this given that maybe it would have been in the drama category i think that now it would have been comedy but i think that that it would have been drama and i think that they just really didn't know to do with it maybe we should start a dramay category to find that little that also i think would make things get
5:22
[SPEAKER_00]: really, really muddy because they also call sex in the city a romantic comedy drama television series.
5:29
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, so it's like, I don't know.
5:31
[SPEAKER_00]: I really, I really don't know.
5:33
[SPEAKER_00]: I'd be fascinated the next time that we talk to John Stevens to ask him more about the Emmys and maybe his insight on where it all fit in, how they submitted it because they do think that that matters.
5:47
[SPEAKER_00]: It's also, you know,
5:52
[SPEAKER_00]: It was also up against like we're going to talk about the comedy category shows like the office and the friends and it's just like those are just completely different than Gilmore girls and Gilmore girls of course was up against like the West Wing and the sopranos.
6:07
[SPEAKER_00]: which also feel a little different.
6:10
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's, I will say the office was like the later seasons though, like when we get into like season six and seven.
6:15
[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not like terribly surprised that it wouldn't have been nominated against those.
6:20
[SPEAKER_01]: But I just think the earlier seasons because the Emmys is not necessarily about what is popular or what is getting the most views.
6:28
[SPEAKER_01]: It's what is the best in its category in terms of like feats of acting, writing, etc.
6:36
[SPEAKER_01]: so many different categories that goes into the production of television.
6:39
[SPEAKER_01]: But it's just always so surprising to me.
6:41
[SPEAKER_01]: And of course today we're specifically talking about Lauren Graham.
6:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, me and the writing in general, just for the fact that how long the scripts were and how much they were able to fit into a 42 minute, like give or take, television show.
6:56
[SPEAKER_01]: that that wasn't like valued in the same way and like there's a very there's a trend.
7:01
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a lot of male writers.
7:03
[SPEAKER_01]: We know it was quite novel at the time to have a show runner that was a woman which very well proved played into it.
7:10
[SPEAKER_01]: But I do think that it is surprising to me that the writing itself was not nominated.
7:16
[SPEAKER_00]: I completely agree with you and also looking at like, you know, some of the shows where these actors and actresses were nominated for their performance.
7:25
[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of them do coincide with the shows that were nominated themselves for.
7:32
[SPEAKER_00]: outstanding comedy series or outstanding drama series.
7:35
[SPEAKER_00]: And so you had people from like CSI being nominated because the show was also nominated.
7:41
[SPEAKER_00]: So it's like it puts it at the forefront of people's minds and therefore I would imagine and I say this as someone who does not know the inner workings of how or the academy or the Emmys or any any of these institutions nominate and like choose who who gets put up there.
7:57
[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't think it's a coincidence that if
8:00
[SPEAKER_00]: a series is nominated that nine times out of ten you're going to see actors from that series.
8:04
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, nominated as well because it's supposed to be like all around writing production, directing, acting on the show.
8:12
[SPEAKER_01]: Costumes like it's it's all of it.
8:15
[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's why it aligns a lot.
8:17
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, there are some, you know,
8:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Some outliers who show is not nominated but their performance is and that is where I put Lauren Graham Like if Gilmore girls was not gonna get nominated because they didn't know where to put it that's totally fine I understand that but not nominating Lauren Graham criminal.
8:34
[SPEAKER_01]: It's still criminal to this day.
8:35
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a crime
8:36
[SPEAKER_00]: I agree, and listen, I don't want to discount the accolades that she did receive because she was nominated for Saga Words, for Golden Globe, for Satellite Awards, for Television Critics Association Awards.
8:46
[SPEAKER_00]: And of course for the ones that we were paying attention to, the Teen Choice Awards.
8:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
8:50
[SPEAKER_01]: Of course.
8:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Hope she loves those.
8:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Hope she loves them like an Emmy.
8:54
[SPEAKER_00]: It's true, but to be nominated for Saga Ward, she was nominated in 2001 for Outstanding Performance by Female Actor in a Drama Series, so like a Golden Globe in 2002 for Best Performance by an actress and a television series for drama.
9:07
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so they were submitting it for drama.
9:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but then the Satellite Award was best performance by an actress in a series comedy or musical.
9:14
[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, so then I was comedy.
9:16
[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
9:16
[SPEAKER_00]: I know it's really tough because for satellite it was comedy for television critics award It was comedy, but then in 2002 it was drama, you know, it's just it's really it kind of oscillates between the two so I think maybe that's
9:31
[SPEAKER_00]: the reason why they didn't quite know where to put it.
9:33
[SPEAKER_00]: And by the, I mean, all of them, like, I don't know what Amy and Dan and the WVU, I don't know where they were at.
9:40
[SPEAKER_00]: The studio.
9:41
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
9:41
[SPEAKER_00]: But regardless, today, we are here to give her the flowers and potentially the accolades that she, we feel like she deserves.
9:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
9:48
[SPEAKER_01]: They go where to say a word.
9:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
9:51
[SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to go see some by season because we thought that was the best way to do this.
9:57
[SPEAKER_00]: And we also asked you guys what scenes you felt she should have been nominated for.
10:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Oftentimes, you know, I feel like performance overall is taken into consideration.
10:07
[SPEAKER_00]: But I think that pulling out these scenes, and if you're with us on YouTube, we're going to show some of them.
10:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Pulling out these scenes, I think, really just highlights.
10:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Like we're kind of trying to think of it.
10:17
[SPEAKER_00]: You put this perfectly yesterday.
10:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Like what would be the scene that would play behind the nomination as her name came up on the board show?
10:26
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, Lauren Graham, Gilmore Girls, a scene- And then a scene plays.
10:30
[SPEAKER_01]: And then her face would show and she'd be like, oh my gosh, I can't believe they just lay to scene of me.
10:34
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
10:35
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, wow, waving, like what would be a scene that they would play?
10:40
[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to do seasons one through six for obvious reasons.
10:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're going to play.
10:44
[SPEAKER_00]: We really just wanted to keep it to the seasons that Amy wrote.
10:46
[SPEAKER_01]: So let's dive in.
10:47
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's start with season one.
10:49
[SPEAKER_00]: I think yes, you could pull a lot of different scenes from season one.
10:53
[SPEAKER_00]: You could pull a lot of different scenes from all the seasons, but for me, no contest, it's worry stance.
10:59
[SPEAKER_00]: It's the fight with Emily at the end.
11:01
[SPEAKER_01]: there is just something completely and utterly gorgeous about this scene about this performance because I know I know we're talking about Lauren, I know we're talking about Lauren here, but in this moment her and Kelly Bishop supporting actress late no for real, but this was them this was tough because honestly I was like
11:23
[SPEAKER_00]: of a Kelly also should have been nominated, but we're not here to talk about Kelly.
11:26
[SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk about Thursday.
11:28
[SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna talk about Kelly.
11:29
[SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna talk with you, Kelly.
11:31
[SPEAKER_01]: On Thursday.
11:31
[SPEAKER_01]: On Thursday.
11:32
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
11:33
[SPEAKER_01]: But no, that was what I was thinking about here is that there's actually two scenes that I pulled out and they both just happen to be Kelly Vorn scenes.
11:40
[SPEAKER_01]: And that is from the pilot, when they're in the kitchen, but like superseded entirely by Rory Stance, of course, when Rory goes to the children dance, doesn't come home.
11:51
[SPEAKER_01]: and Laura and Emily get into it and Laura lies kitchen that the scene work between the two of them is phenomenal.
12:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Like the way they play off of each other, like it feels like we are in this mother and daughters like life-long struggle between two of them.
12:10
[SPEAKER_01]: It's simply something like that.
12:13
[SPEAKER_01]: To say nothing of the writing, to say nothing of this cinematography here, like it's all excellent, but the work between the two of them, the performance here, unmatched.
12:22
[SPEAKER_00]: I totally agree.
12:23
[SPEAKER_00]: I also watched it from the moment that Emily Weeks lore lay up.
12:30
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that like we have to zeroing it on Lauren, applaud her for everything she does to carry the scene from the beginning through the end when Roy comes in.
12:41
[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, basically the end of the episode because the journey that she goes on emotionally is so spectacular.
12:49
[SPEAKER_00]: It's so impressive because she goes from being woken up out of a dead sleep.
12:54
[SPEAKER_01]: That's hard to act.
12:55
[SPEAKER_00]: It's hard to act like it really is and she's like just waking up.
13:00
[SPEAKER_00]: She starts panicking.
13:02
[SPEAKER_00]: The stakes from Emily are so high already.
13:05
[SPEAKER_00]: Laura Lye is trying to like, she's so absolutely disoriented.
13:10
[SPEAKER_00]: And she goes into Roy's room, she comes back out, Patty calls, she comes down, she's like, all right, we're just going to wait and see what happened.
13:19
[SPEAKER_00]: And Emily is the one we talked about this when we did our fights episode, like we really broke this down because the way that Emily is just like just poking her, like, yeah, just poking the bear.
13:33
[SPEAKER_00]: And Laura, like, okay, I'm going to remain calm.
13:36
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to ask my daughter what happened.
13:38
[SPEAKER_00]: Emily just raises the stakes of the scene so much, but it gives Lauren so much to work with as an actor Because the switch from like she's gonna get pregnant.
13:47
[SPEAKER_00]: No, she's not.
13:48
[SPEAKER_00]: No, she's not the way she throws that coffee pot It's so good and like you said all of the history and the pain that comes up in that fight
14:00
[SPEAKER_00]: to have that conversation that fight and then immediately switch it into why she's mad at her daughter when worry comes in.
14:07
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like the journey that Lauren goes through in that scene is just unmatched and I think that if I were to put a scene forward and present it to the Emmys to say this woman deserves to be nominated, it would be that and it would be like the entire scene.
14:22
[SPEAKER_01]: yeah from beginning to end and I agree it's that it's the journey of the scene that Lauren takes you on because of course the writing can only take you so far is we can see that some people just like don't fit into the scene that is being written for them but I think with so remarkable about this show specifically is that Amy knows who
14:42
[SPEAKER_01]: She's writing for.
14:43
[SPEAKER_01]: She knows who is going to take this and elevate it beyond what it is.
14:49
[SPEAKER_01]: And it feels I think that in this instance like especially with like a mother and daughter for two actors to create a scene that feels very voyeuristic where you're actually watching a family fight and you feel it and you feel the pain and like
15:05
[SPEAKER_01]: I can watch that scene out of context and start crying, like of course I got a glimpse of the show.
15:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but it just makes me so like it moves me so deeply and I think that that's why it's such a good example is because there's so much comedy that Lauren does is just like marvelous throughout season one, her timing is excellent, her delivery is excellent.
15:26
[SPEAKER_01]: She can hit a mark so well, but I think that when it comes to making you feel like you are in this moment, in this scene, watching something real happen.
15:36
[SPEAKER_00]: Totally.
15:36
[SPEAKER_00]: It's one.
15:37
[SPEAKER_00]: It's this one for sure.
15:38
[SPEAKER_01]: That's why I have like a hard time with being like, oh, this is a comedy because you're like, and here is her yelling at her mom totally.
15:46
[SPEAKER_00]: And something that I want to note before we go into the rest of these is that I wanted to make sure that we were presenting versatility more in because like one of the first scenes that came to mind is actually in season three.
15:57
[SPEAKER_00]: And when we get there, I'll talk about it.
15:59
[SPEAKER_00]: But it wasn't a dramatic scene.
16:02
[SPEAKER_00]: It was a moment for me that just was like when I think of her as an actress, of course, like moments like these that we just talked about, her fight with Kelly comes to mind, but she's just so damn funny.
16:17
[SPEAKER_00]: And that talent in the world, she created this like sarcastic,
16:32
[SPEAKER_00]: such an icon and a pioneer for like quick snappy but sophisticated dialogue.
16:40
[SPEAKER_00]: And Lauren was the mouthpiece for it.
16:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
16:43
[SPEAKER_01]: She became kind of as as time went on and like to where we are now.
16:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Laura like Gilmore is kind of a stereotype now.
16:50
[SPEAKER_01]: She is.
16:51
[SPEAKER_01]: That's sad.
16:52
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to say this character like this never existed before, but I think that a lot of shows and especially books like with Gilmour to Read were writing to that sort of person who feels like they should be maybe a little bit of a mess, but they're quite smart.
17:09
[SPEAKER_01]: They have their life together in a way that like your kind of is kind of unexpected because their rooms are massive, but they're like in charge at work.
17:16
[SPEAKER_01]: It feels like manic pixie dream, but like is not because she's incredibly smart.
17:21
[SPEAKER_01]: She really doesn't care what other people think about her, unless it's her mom in which case she doesn't want to care, but she does fully.
17:26
[SPEAKER_01]: That I think that it created a bit of a stereotype now as we move forward in both literature and media.
17:32
[SPEAKER_00]: And that's why I know that they've brought up the idea of doing the legacy award, which they are this year.
17:37
[SPEAKER_00]: Are they doing it this year?
17:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's for I love Lucy.
17:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
17:41
[SPEAKER_00]: I was actually as you were saying that about like, you know, I know she's not like necessarily the first person to create a character like this.
17:48
[SPEAKER_00]: The first person that popped into mine was Lucy a while because it's like in a very different way.
17:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Very different way.
17:54
[SPEAKER_00]: I love Lucy, Lucy, about like, she raised the bar.
17:58
[SPEAKER_00]: She set the bar for comedic for women in comedy.
18:02
[SPEAKER_00]: And, I mean, not just her, but I think that she was one of the first to really lay the foundation.
18:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, it's so, I mean, that is so well deserved.
18:11
[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think that there is a time and a place for Gilmour Rolls to resalebe a legacy award at some point.
18:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
18:18
[SPEAKER_01]: But can I tell you, I feel like when I saw that it was going to be I love Lucy at first I was like no, I could go more girls, but in my mind I was like lower like go more with up that.
18:28
[SPEAKER_00]: Well there would be no go more girls without shows like I love Lucy and I say that because like there's no way that Amy Sherman Paladino, especially growing up in the era that she did, did not look to comedians and women like Lucille Ball for inspiration for her comedy.
18:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
18:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I was actually another scene that I was thinking of as in Christopher Returns, when Christopher Returns, and famously, and she's wearing her, I love Lucy pajamas.
18:55
[SPEAKER_01]: Like a little walker, like a kitchen scene.
18:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Lauren Graham can eat up a kitchen scene, a pun intended, that she's just walking around her, I love Lucy pajamas, declining a marriage proposal.
19:06
[SPEAKER_01]: Beautiful.
19:08
[SPEAKER_00]: Season two is also a tough one because I think that there are a lot of options that we could present.
19:13
[SPEAKER_00]: But the very first one that came to mind for me was teach me tonight.
19:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Go to hell.
19:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
19:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
19:21
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god.
19:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Fighting in the street.
19:24
[SPEAKER_00]: And again, I say this with the caveat that like, I don't want every single scene presented to just be lower life fighting with someone, but this scene in the street.
19:33
[SPEAKER_00]: Again, it's when you watch it from top.
19:36
[SPEAKER_00]: to tell, you watch her leave the hospital, go to Luke's, she's knocking on the door, she is meandering through, she is looking for Jess, and it slips on its ear when Luke realizes that Lori broke her wrist, she's in the hospital, and no one knows where Jess is, and then the tone of it shifts, and now Laura likes bumbling Luke.
20:00
[SPEAKER_00]: was following her before.
20:01
[SPEAKER_00]: And again, this is a testament to the writing to the direction to the camera work, to the cinematography.
20:05
[SPEAKER_00]: But also, I just think that the way that Lauren leads the charge on this scene is so beautifully done.
20:12
[SPEAKER_00]: And Scott Patterson also did a wonderful job as a scene partner for her because he starts fighting with her.
20:17
[SPEAKER_00]: It just raises the stakes similarly to
20:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Kelly Bishop and I really love when they go at it and all I could think was go to hell Right back at you That one that's actually one of my favorites in the whole show.
20:33
[SPEAKER_01]: You know I love when they're yelling in the street at each other Like I know that's just that just does something for me There was three scenes that I pulled from season two
20:41
[SPEAKER_01]: that feel like they showcased different versions of Lauren Graham being Lorelei, that one of course, but I want to do like maybe like the reverse of that, which is not really the reverse but maybe just showing like a different way that Scott and Lauren were seeing partners, which was when she goes to tell him that Max proposed.
20:59
[SPEAKER_01]: Listen, you know that is one of my, I know.
21:02
[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
21:03
[SPEAKER_00]: It is the scene that is seared in my memory.
21:06
[SPEAKER_01]: There's just something about that one that feels, and maybe it's not like the perfect example, but I think it's just like a juxtaposition to that one to see like, I agree.
21:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Look at these characters together and look how different they can be like thinking about like the ends and outs of ends as well, but that one specifically because they were at the diner.
21:24
[SPEAKER_01]: It was quite awkward between the two of them.
21:26
[SPEAKER_01]: just to kind of show how much like the two of these characters or these two of these actors can get to a place to do a scene like that with each other.
21:36
[SPEAKER_01]: That one kind of was the flip sides for me of where their relationship can go.
21:41
[SPEAKER_01]: But teach me to nine.
21:44
[SPEAKER_01]: You don't have to convince me of that one.
21:46
[SPEAKER_01]: That one is like one of Lauren Graham's best scenes.
21:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
21:49
[SPEAKER_01]: I will also add the third one that I had for this one was, I can't get started.
21:53
[SPEAKER_01]: When Christopher tells her that Sherry's pregnant and that he has to go.
21:58
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
21:59
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that that one demonstrates a different sort of drama that Lauren Graham can do, which is a quiet drama, a resigned drama, acting with her eyes, that she need not say a word, but she's going to say many of them because that's what she's known for, that she doesn't get to yelling in the streets about it.
22:19
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a much more like, okay.
22:22
[SPEAKER_01]: Once again, I'm not getting what I wanted.
22:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Someone else is getting it.
22:26
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not being chosen.
22:27
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
22:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
22:29
[SPEAKER_01]: 100%.
22:29
[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that that one to like, when they're about to walk down the aisle.
22:33
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, yeah, beautiful.
22:36
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm going to wash it in.
22:38
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh.
22:39
[SPEAKER_00]: She says everything without saying,
22:42
[SPEAKER_00]: and but one word but one word but one sound really yeah and I agree with you that scene between her and Christopher was so moving in a way like you said where it doesn't have to be her fighting in the street with someone or fighting at all the only other scene I would put forward is the one she has in the second episode in hammers and veils when she's with Max
23:07
[SPEAKER_00]: and they drive to Emily's, and she says, why don't you care?
23:11
[SPEAKER_00]: Why have you never cared?
23:12
[SPEAKER_00]: That scene is so so good.
23:16
[SPEAKER_00]: It's so delicious.
23:17
[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think that the scene with her and Kelly in season one for me took the cake so much that I was like, think for season two, I'd like for it to feel a little bit different.
23:28
[SPEAKER_00]: And again, show that versatility.
23:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah,
23:31
[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know if I could pick one, if I could pick one, I think I'd still pick teach me tonight, but I wouldn't maybe do, I can't get started.
23:39
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that just to show like a different sort of range that she has in disappointment and anger that she can go to that heightened place or kind of stay in her own head.
23:49
[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, talking about hammers and vails and like, okay, so let's nominate Kelly, as well.
23:54
[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
23:54
[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
23:55
[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
23:55
[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
23:55
[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
23:56
[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
23:56
[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
23:56
[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
23:56
[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
23:57
[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
23:57
[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
23:57
[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
23:57
[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
23:58
[SPEAKER_01]: I know, oh my gosh, maybe one that we should do in the future, because, like, oh, just, yeah.
24:04
[SPEAKER_01]: Because, like, hers would be when she finds out that, well, we're lies engaged and goes to Richard.
24:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Don't want to make this episode about her, though.
24:11
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll move on.
24:12
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll move on to the Lord Graham of it.
24:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Because I could go on forever.
24:15
[SPEAKER_00]: How can I?
24:16
[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
24:16
[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
24:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Moving into season three, I want to speak to what you just talked about between Luke and Laura Lyon showing another side to their relationship, because the reason I chose this scene for season three was to juxtapose it against the go-to-house scene at the end of season two.
24:32
[SPEAKER_00]: And that is in season three episode one when she takes on the role of Mimi in the diner and the event of course.
24:41
[SPEAKER_00]: I watched that scene this morning and when she
24:44
[SPEAKER_00]: Like I love, again, where the scene starts and where they end by the end of it.
24:51
[SPEAKER_00]: It's so, I mean, it's so good because she just walks in and they're just standing there staring at each other.
24:57
[SPEAKER_00]: And this is really the first time that they are facing each other.
25:01
[SPEAKER_00]: Sans, a little bit at the end of season two, and she tries to smooth things over and he's not biting.
25:06
[SPEAKER_00]: And she comes in and their standing face to face.
25:09
[SPEAKER_00]: There is no one around.
25:10
[SPEAKER_00]: There is no buffer.
25:11
[SPEAKER_00]: There's not even daylight.
25:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Is them in the middle of this diner.
25:15
[SPEAKER_00]: Darn.
25:15
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
25:16
[SPEAKER_00]: And he says, we're closed.
25:17
[SPEAKER_00]: And she goes, I know, but I had a really, really crappy day.
25:19
[SPEAKER_00]: And I could really use a cup of coffee and she sits down.
25:22
[SPEAKER_00]: And she just starts.
25:23
[SPEAKER_00]: outpouring to him about what's wrong, and it starts from a place of just like, I can't believe I let myself do this again.
25:30
[SPEAKER_00]: And it evolves into just her falling apart.
25:34
[SPEAKER_00]: When she starts crying and you can see like the tears on her face just glistening and what little light is in that scene.
25:40
[SPEAKER_00]: And she says, I really want it.
25:42
[SPEAKER_00]: The whole package.
25:43
[SPEAKER_00]: It's such a moment of vulnerability between the two of them that is so well done on Lawrence behalf.
25:51
[SPEAKER_00]: It is so so good.
25:54
[SPEAKER_01]: No, that was the first one that I had.
25:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Just like again, like it really shows her range that you can give her pages and pages of dialogue and she is going to absolutely nail it like the stage actress that she started us that it just feels like she just draws you in you never feel bored by it like you never feel like she breaks from you that you're just like leaning closer and closer and closer into her.
26:20
[SPEAKER_01]: because it's just this quiet vulnerability that I really like juxtaposing that one against teach me tonight and the beginning of season two that it just feels like the journey that these characters are going on that I think that one's a very good example of Lauren Graham herself because she is acting too Scott Patterson but for herself that
26:43
[SPEAKER_01]: she doesn't really have a scene partner in this one.
26:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Like Lucas throwing out a couple of lines here and there, but it's kind of the intention of her coming in is not to talk.
26:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Like that was like the whole setup and then it's like, oh okay, of course I was going to start talking to you.
26:57
[SPEAKER_01]: But that one is a really good example of her completely on her own, just like acting to the room and Luke just happens to be there, but that really is that is her scene entirely.
27:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
27:10
[SPEAKER_00]: But I do love that Luke is there to provide not only, you know, a backboard for her to bounce these thoughts, feelings, vulnerability, all the way to landing with someone.
27:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
27:22
[SPEAKER_00]: But also he does provide some like comedic relief and some resolution and I think that
27:28
[SPEAKER_00]: that is the power of Gilmore Girls, that even in these moments where you know, ruralize at one end of the counter just like pouring her heart out and saying something that she has not said to literally anyone else besides herself.
27:41
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's going on and on about like, well, is it too bad?
27:45
[SPEAKER_00]: You got Rory, you've got the town, you've got support, apparently an iron stomach, and
27:50
[SPEAKER_00]: you know, like he just resides this kind of like, you know, reminder that grounds us in the moment that this is still a comedy in some ways.
27:59
[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, even amidst the drama, which is what makes it so brilliant.
28:03
[SPEAKER_00]: But as I mentioned before, I had a moment that stuck out to me in season three that I couldn't get out of my head because all I could think of was.
28:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Do you have a note that you're my hero?
28:13
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, is that gonna play with Lauren Graham as nominated for her Emmy?
28:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I kind of think so.
28:17
[SPEAKER_01]: I, Loki would love that one simply because it is such a perfect example of who Laura like Immort is as a character, which like, distilling it down to one moment when she was like a copyrighted party like the cops rated the party because a fight started over you.
28:35
[SPEAKER_01]: like you would think that like in any other show the parent's kind of get mad.
28:39
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, she started to see 100%.
28:40
[SPEAKER_00]: It's 100%.
28:41
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think that if we were doing if we were framing this episode as like this is the scene that she would be nominated for if it was a drama and this is the scene she would be nominated for if it was a comedy.
28:51
[SPEAKER_00]: that's what this would break down into.
28:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
28:53
[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, we could go off the rails about like the comedic moment she has.
28:57
[SPEAKER_01]: I know that was like really what was so hard that I was like sometimes like there is literally just like one line delivery that will slay me.
29:06
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like the perfect example because like I was thinking in my mind I was like okay modern family.
29:12
[SPEAKER_01]: Like that was like the comedy in my mind of like thinking of like what is
29:20
[SPEAKER_01]: But when he's nominated they play a little joke that he says like in his life ahead and it's hilarious and then he's like He that was me and that's what I'm thinking about with Lauren Graham.
29:29
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, okay, so we would play 50 of those because she They're so magically hilarious and maybe that is what
29:36
[SPEAKER_00]: makes this, you know, as we're halfway through this, I'm like, this show would have been nominated as a comedy, because the dramatic moments, I don't know the elderly balance, but they're much more notable.
29:48
[SPEAKER_00]: I could pull out 50 different comedic moments for Lauren Graham.
29:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I could pull out a bunch of dramatic moments as well and trust we will, but I just mean like the end of the moment fair so fair, but like again this moment of I really want it the whole package stood out to me.
30:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
30:07
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
30:08
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think that that's what's kind of pulling that episode that we're going to do later this month of like the we're going to like top 26 lines maybe we'll we'll see we might change for the rules before then but all of those lines are going to be funny like 99 percent of them are going to be lines that are hilarious and I think that that's really where the comedy of it comes in that like the drama is so notable that the comedic lines like
30:31
[SPEAKER_01]: you could just reach into the episode and find five in an episode that completely tickle you, but I think that because the very dramatic moments are the ones that were pulling out that those are what are so notable to the show, which is what it makes it a comedy.
30:46
[SPEAKER_01]: But that one for sure doesn't make it a drama.
30:49
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like, I don't know, it's a drama.
30:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Both of the words are in there.
30:56
[SPEAKER_01]: The both of the words are in there, but it would be a comedy.
30:58
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like so convinced it would be a comedy.
31:00
[SPEAKER_01]: in the year 2026, if on Sunday had been nominated because it was running, I also don't think a show like this would be running right now, given the weight of the television and the chances that they give a show to succeed.
31:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Because as we know, one of the best seasons of Gamma Girls is season two.
31:16
[SPEAKER_01]: And if they have cut it off at the knees, it's season one.
31:19
[SPEAKER_01]: What would we have
31:22
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yes, or seven admittedly, but the other one that I wanted to bring up from season three, which was one that I love so much and so many of you also submitted in the Instagram question box about it because you also love it and that is haunted lag when there are Friday night dinner with just Emily and Christopher comes in and Everyone's yelling at Christopher.
31:44
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah
31:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Love it.
31:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
31:47
[SPEAKER_00]: And I do think that, you know, Lauren and David Sutcliffe, like they do a really great job between the two of them Alexis Blidell coming in as worried at the beginning there also like packs a punch, but it's really not until Kelly comes in that you're like, oh shit.
32:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, because like that's the thing is like Lauren Graham is everyone's best scene partner in the show.
32:08
[SPEAKER_01]: Like she just snails it with every single character every single actor that she's acting with She elevates their performance.
32:15
[SPEAKER_01]: She puts them in their best light.
32:17
[SPEAKER_01]: She is like I think that's really what the mark of like a fantastic scene partner is is that it's not someone who's trying to win the scene It's someone who is trying to collaborate to make the best scene possible between the two of you seeing
32:29
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I think that's what she does so well, especially here, just like the way that her and Chris, or David, we're Godless of how you want her for to them, the way that they just like escalate the scene is just continue to raise the stakes.
32:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so marvelous, so emotional, but when I go and work, I'm going on a horse.
32:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, now, please.
32:54
[SPEAKER_01]: I kind of feel like that's what we play for Kelly Vishab.
32:57
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, leave now.
33:00
[SPEAKER_00]: Marvellous, truly marvelous.
33:02
[SPEAKER_01]: But that's another good example because she leaves because she was, she thinks she smells something burning in the kitchen.
33:08
[SPEAKER_00]: And she was like, or like, an alarm or I forget.
33:11
[SPEAKER_00]: But she, Emily, you know, she's in a panic.
33:14
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
33:14
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's like a really good example of like where the drama and a drama ends with drama.
33:20
[SPEAKER_01]: The drama and a comedy ends with a button to pull you back to the comedy.
33:24
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
33:25
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a comedy.
33:28
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a comedy right because with a drama.
33:30
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm thinking of like raising out of me drama That's that show is a drama that when you end a scene and like, you know, someone has died or You're trying to figure out something between two of the doctors is their patient dies.
33:42
[SPEAKER_01]: You know We're not ending it with like a and now that's a funny moment.
33:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Goodbye.
33:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes But usually not
33:51
[SPEAKER_01]: right.
33:51
[SPEAKER_00]: But for the most part, I feel like in this show.
33:53
[SPEAKER_01]: If something dramatic happens and we have to sit in it, we're like, oh, well no one said something funny as they've after room.
33:59
[SPEAKER_01]: And now I'm yeah, have the feel of this feeling.
34:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Don't like that.
34:03
[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe that's a that's a sign that it was comedy.
34:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I can't believe that.
34:08
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you have any more for season three?
34:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Those are all mine for season three, me too.
34:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I really, the role of Mimi in in season three episode one, I think, takes the cake.
34:17
[SPEAKER_00]: But if we were nominating the show for the comedy that it is, I think I would pull the, did you ever know that you're my, when beneath my wings?
34:24
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
34:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I, it also makes me want to add um, those are strings Pinocchio after,
34:30
[SPEAKER_01]: for you graduate, and they're in children together by themselves, and it's not so scary anymore.
34:36
[SPEAKER_01]: Like the teamwork that they do, they're together is quite good.
34:39
[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't maybe call it out as the best, but I was just trying to think of something that kind of summed up the relationship between the two of them.
34:46
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure there are better moments, but that was the one that popped into my mind.
34:50
[SPEAKER_01]: Good season.
34:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Good season.
34:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Great season.
34:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
34:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Season 4, I know a lot of people submitted in the question box, the incredible singing lore lies, because of course, Lauren falling apart, and Scott's arms over, and you want to talk about scene work, like top-to-tail, that scene is great, especially when you juxtapose it again, like worry, crying to Dean, because that's what it's meant to do, right?
35:14
[SPEAKER_00]: But she and her daughter are going through the same thing, but they can't talk to each other.
35:17
[SPEAKER_00]: They haven't been able to talk to each other.
35:18
[SPEAKER_00]: They keep missing their ships passing in the night, right?
35:21
[SPEAKER_00]: And I agree.
35:22
[SPEAKER_00]: But I just think that the finale of season four and ring coats and recipes.
35:26
[SPEAKER_00]: We broke this scene down earlier this year when she comes home and finds worrying Dean together in bed.
35:33
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, not in bed.
35:34
[SPEAKER_00]: But she knows what just happened nearby near near bed.
35:39
[SPEAKER_00]: And talking about kind of that quiet.
35:42
[SPEAKER_00]: Disappointment how she's like resigned to what has just happened.
35:47
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, at the end of season two We see that tenfold here.
35:50
[SPEAKER_00]: It is so good.
35:52
[SPEAKER_00]: It is such a quiet moment of reflection.
35:55
[SPEAKER_00]: It's quiet drama It's not yelling.
35:57
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not screaming.
35:58
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like he's not crying.
36:00
[SPEAKER_00]: No
36:01
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just sheer shock, disappointment, and mental scramble of, like, how did this happen?
36:10
[SPEAKER_00]: How did we get here?
36:11
[SPEAKER_00]: Who is my daughter?
36:13
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm having an identity crisis because I'm looking at someone who I think is also having an identity crisis.
36:18
[SPEAKER_00]: And like,
36:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Where do we go from here?
36:21
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just so good.
36:22
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's the moment that I would choose.
36:24
[SPEAKER_01]: I remember I think you were George Clooney.
36:26
[SPEAKER_01]: I think I've brought this up before.
36:27
[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, we were talking about ER, so let's talk about George Clooney.
36:31
[SPEAKER_01]: The hardest part about acting or the easiest part about acting is crying.
36:36
[SPEAKER_01]: The hardest part about acting is holding back tears because that's what you would do as a person.
36:41
[SPEAKER_01]: You're not openly going to cry with most people.
36:44
[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to be holding back your emotion.
36:46
[SPEAKER_01]: And so getting to a place where you are emotional and holding that emotion back is like the mark of like a good.
36:52
[SPEAKER_01]: emotion is an actor.
36:54
[SPEAKER_01]: That's the hardest place an actor can get to.
36:56
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that that is kind of the juxtaposition here of the incredible sinking moralized of her crying with Luke.
37:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I think that she's in a fantastic emotional actor.
37:05
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, she can really cry in a moment and make you feel that she's very overwhelmed.
37:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Like,
37:09
[SPEAKER_01]: you're getting overwhelmed experiencing her being overwhelmed but the way that she holds back in rank with some recipes in the house and like when Dean walks out and she immediately like looks like the the scene in my mind that i'm thinking of like the clip of the scene is like her looking away at like the table where like the answering machine is because she's like so overwhelmed like the way that like she moves and her body when she's not even speaking
37:38
[SPEAKER_00]: Marvellous to use the word.
37:40
[SPEAKER_00]: It's raw.
37:41
[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's raw and it's real and it puts you in the scene with her because As we talk I was we've talked about we talked about it here.
37:47
[SPEAKER_00]: We talked about it a few months ago like the disappointment she feels in her daughter and she's trying not just trying so hard not to let that push her away She's trying to like very confused the
38:01
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, she's trying to like use the disappointment and like walk her through the logic of what has just happened to like bring her home a little bit and be like, do you understand the gravity of what you just did?
38:13
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
38:13
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just so well done and something that like I would say aside from
38:18
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's so different, but aside from the end of season two and she's looking at Chris and he's telling her like Sherry's pregnant and she's trying to process it and literally says to him like I have to walk down the island Be happy for my friend right now and I'm having a little bit of trouble standing outside of that I don't think we've really seen this emotion and this intention in Lourilized character up until the end of season four when this happens.
38:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah
38:44
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that that can be interesting when we get to a character's moment of shock in trying to process something in real time, because like I said, there's so many moments where we have called out that she's yelling in the street, she's fighting with Emily, like that's that's quite hard to convince someone that you're in a real fight and do it that well, especially as wordy as Amy's dialogue is, or Dan.
39:06
[SPEAKER_01]: depending on the day or any of the writers that to do that with that many words that it feels so like a feat unto itself but to have that restraint in the show that is so known for its dialogue that it's it's fast-paced
39:25
[SPEAKER_01]: that when you kind of like suck the air out and you want them to slow down a little bit, you're like, oh, how is this going to go?
39:31
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, perfectly because this actress is marvelous and absolutely perfect and should have been nominated in one every word that she did.
39:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, yes, of course.
39:39
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think that there is a lot of power in silence and inquiateness.
39:43
[SPEAKER_00]: Like that is almost like you said, people are yelling in the street.
39:47
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, like you can feel the emotion.
39:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, when someone gets quiet and is like quietly angry or upset or processing, I do feel like sometimes that is a lot more.
39:59
[SPEAKER_00]: It carries a lot more weight.
40:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know that actually reminded me of in the beginning of season three when Red Knight Red Knight on the wedding night and she comes in.
40:09
[SPEAKER_01]: She says I didn't want to try on my wedding dress Oh, season two, but yes, yes, then I say season three you did it.
40:15
[SPEAKER_00]: We have two and a story
40:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
40:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay, you're set right.
40:18
[SPEAKER_01]: But in season two, when she does that, that it, if we could pull out like a line, or it's like restraint is the name of the game, like less words in a show full of words, that one was one that I was thinking of, I was like, can I just do one line when she says that?
40:33
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, you know everything you need to know from the delivery of that one line?
40:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that it feels like struggling with this scene.
40:40
[SPEAKER_01]: But
40:40
[SPEAKER_01]: For all of season four, there's so many remarkable moments that she goes to with various characters.
40:44
[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like we could also pull out best scene work with various other actors, like with Melissa and Masca and Kelly, which every time she's in a scene to Kelly, it's their best scenes together.
40:55
[SPEAKER_01]: But this one, as Lauren, as Laura, like, kind of not on her own, not that Alexis is not in this scene, but just what Lauren does here.
41:04
[SPEAKER_01]: They're great scene partners in this scene.
41:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Moving into season five, speaking to quiet reflection and overall scene work, I put the season five finale a house is not a home.
41:17
[SPEAKER_00]: I think as a whole, like I could pick out several moments from this episode, we're Lauren just exemplifies the vast spectrum of,
41:27
[SPEAKER_00]: of just like acting skills that she has, that she just has this like Mary Poppins bag of stuff skills that she just can pull it out at any time.
41:35
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
41:35
[SPEAKER_00]: Because of course, I love that, you know, we have these moments throughout the episode, she finds out for Marie.
41:44
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we started out with her picking up Rory from jail.
41:50
[SPEAKER_00]: And there's this like why it disappointment.
41:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Her begging her to tell her what happened.
41:56
[SPEAKER_00]: and trying to like similarly to the end of season four like shake it out of her daughter like wake up you just committed a crime I need you to talk to me and you know then they eventually get to a place where like
42:11
[SPEAKER_00]: They're kind of making jokes about it.
42:13
[SPEAKER_00]: She's putting the phone on the table.
42:14
[SPEAKER_00]: They're they're talking to each other.
42:16
[SPEAKER_00]: The stick, you know, the bread, the water.
42:19
[SPEAKER_00]: It's yeah, she's got the mug shot on the fridge.
42:21
[SPEAKER_00]: And then it moves into, I am not going back to Yale next year when they're outside at West Ends.
42:26
[SPEAKER_00]: And the processing there of like, no, this is not happening.
42:31
[SPEAKER_00]: The arc.
42:32
[SPEAKER_00]: of every emotion she has to go through there.
42:34
[SPEAKER_01]: My gosh, it's literally every scene that she's in in this episode because even pulling it back a little bit because she, of course, had that scene with worry where they were joking.
42:43
[SPEAKER_01]: She's going back to school.
42:44
[SPEAKER_01]: She answers as a phone and it's Logan and she's immediately annoyed.
42:47
[SPEAKER_01]: So she does not want to be talking to this kid.
42:50
[SPEAKER_00]: Like she couldn't be further from wanting to hang up the phone at any given moment.
42:54
[SPEAKER_01]: But then I'm not going back to Yale next year.
42:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
42:57
[SPEAKER_01]: That's where I didn't hear you.
42:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, like, she had to really flip in that, yeah.
43:03
[SPEAKER_00]: And she had to throw so well.
43:04
[SPEAKER_00]: And then she does something that she's always hard press to do, which is goes to her parents for help.
43:10
[SPEAKER_00]: the way she plays that scene is so brilliant.
43:12
[SPEAKER_00]: And then when they flip the script on her and she walks into Friday night dinner and she goes in on such a high and she's like she's ready to do it.
43:18
[SPEAKER_00]: We could strategize and then she sees them sitting standing in the living room waiting for her and she's like okay, let's go on and just the slow burn that washes over her.
43:30
[SPEAKER_00]: I love that they put the camera on her in that moment because Richard delivering that news that's slow Pan in of her realizing that once again, her parents do not choose her It's just so brilliantly done like I could pick
43:48
[SPEAKER_00]: So many moments from that episode alone to showcase her the rain.
43:53
[SPEAKER_00]: She has as an actress But that moment in particular Is so good and then we get to the end of the episode where she's sitting in Luke's and She tells him what's going on and she's watching him formally all of these
44:08
[SPEAKER_00]: ideas and plans to kidnap her and get her back to Yale and again we keep the camera on more and because her realization of like oh my god like I've just lost my daughter my parents betrayed me and then looking at Luke and seeing him do all of this and the realization that washes over her of like oh my god this is my person to leave will you marry me has me like so emotional right now because it's like it's just so
44:36
[SPEAKER_00]: Good, they'll look on her face.
44:37
[SPEAKER_00]: I could even like just play that clip and yeah, it's Scott talking the whole time, but it's Lauren's acting that I think makes the scene when it is
44:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
44:48
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that in part of it, it's quite hard for us to look at a scene really objectively because we have such like full context of the show of these moments because like thinking about her parents' house when she arrived to convince them that or like more so to tell them that worry was dropping on a veil and convinced them that she needed their help.
45:10
[SPEAKER_01]: There's like such a vulnerability there to compare against like hammers and bales, of like that fight between Emily and Laura lie or even a fight between her and Richard that to get to this moment and to see these actors act in this new way where she feels very open to come to them.
45:29
[SPEAKER_01]: She feels scared to do so but very relieved by it that like that's a moment like within the context of the show that I think getting those actors to that place Which can be difficult.
45:40
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a very I feel like it's a very easy to have like maybe like an angry relationship with a character
45:45
[SPEAKER_01]: as an actor and then to flip and to have like a very vulnerable moment with them.
45:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Very beautiful.
45:50
[SPEAKER_01]: But I think just like picking if you just pluck a scene out and like show someone who is not seen the show before, showing them like her like the camera staying on her as she is getting bad news.
46:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Like all you have to say is like she's about to get some bad news.
46:04
[SPEAKER_01]: and seeing that and seeing her process it and then seeing her process that she wants to marry this man.
46:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, those are two like scenes to juxtapose again.
46:12
[SPEAKER_01]: See each other to kind of show that she's going through the same thing, but in two very different ways.
46:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Beautiful, beautiful, and grand.
46:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Everything you do is actually spectacular.
46:22
[SPEAKER_01]: It's true.
46:22
[SPEAKER_01]: She's going to ward for waking up today.
46:25
[SPEAKER_01]: you should.
46:26
[SPEAKER_01]: A little message for me to go.
46:29
[SPEAKER_00]: The only other scene in season five that like, well, there were a few that came to mind, but I really love the scene in wedding bell blues when she, I mean, the whole fight between her Christopher Luke, Rory and Logan are in the room, and she's kind of like
46:48
[SPEAKER_00]: Trying to be like, what are you doing?
46:50
[SPEAKER_00]: Hi, Logan.
46:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Nice to meet you.
46:51
[SPEAKER_01]: That absolutely would play when season five of Gilmore Girls gets nominated for the past comedy.
46:57
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like grandma wants a picture of this.
46:59
[SPEAKER_01]: This is, yeah, reason there.
47:01
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
47:02
[SPEAKER_00]: And Laurel, I trying to keep Christopher and Luke calm away from each other, stop them from fighting and then her going out, getting swept up by cousin Marilyn
47:19
[SPEAKER_00]: is also brilliant.
47:21
[SPEAKER_01]: The other part of that, therefore, if we're zeroing in on Lauren Graham no scene partners, it's her leaving her voicemail for Luke when she's doing they are kind of like broken up and then she goes to steal the tape.
47:33
[SPEAKER_01]: That whole scene that like I feel like that's what she does best.
47:37
[SPEAKER_01]: or that's not even what she does best.
47:39
[SPEAKER_01]: She actually does everything best, but that's just one of the facets of everything that she has to offer in her Lauren Graham acting toolbox of acting to no one and just feeling the emotion so deeply that she can completely convince you that she is calling her now ex-boyfriend.
47:56
[SPEAKER_00]: I completely agree.
47:57
[SPEAKER_00]: That's actually a scene.
47:58
[SPEAKER_00]: I was thinking about the scene where she's like, you know, in bed, can't get out of bed, where it comes over.
48:02
[SPEAKER_00]: She's like the town Luke.
48:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody hates me.
48:05
[SPEAKER_00]: I blew it.
48:05
[SPEAKER_00]: I messed up.
48:07
[SPEAKER_00]: But the scene where she leaves the voice mail.
48:10
[SPEAKER_01]: I plan to go to get the energy goes to get the tape.
48:13
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, comedy.
48:14
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
48:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Moving into season six, I know that there's like there's a scene in here that is very unmatched.
48:22
[SPEAKER_00]: It is of course season six episode 22 partings.
48:25
[SPEAKER_00]: I love you Luke.
48:26
[SPEAKER_00]: I love you.
48:28
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to cry just thinking about it like once again her giving him the ultimatum in the street.
48:33
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just so, so good.
48:36
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's kind of unmatched.
48:37
[SPEAKER_00]: But I do also love the work that she does in the prodigal daughter returns.
48:44
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that one, when Gilmore Girls gets nominated for season six for Best Comedy, they're playing that scene.
48:52
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I think if it was nominated for Best Drama, that is the scene that would play is worry running to lower-lie them hugging the cinematography spinning around them and then apologizing to each other.
49:04
[SPEAKER_00]: I love you, Mom.
49:05
[SPEAKER_00]: Katie, you have no idea.
49:06
[SPEAKER_01]: So good.
49:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Oops.
49:11
[SPEAKER_00]: Oops of me crying.
49:12
[SPEAKER_00]: It's so good.
49:12
[SPEAKER_00]: We're just talking about it.
49:15
[SPEAKER_00]: We're not even watching.
49:15
[SPEAKER_00]: We're not just thinking about it.
49:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Just thinking about it.
49:18
[SPEAKER_00]: We're just talking about it.
49:19
[SPEAKER_00]: It's so good.
49:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Also June 3rd.
49:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about June 3rd.
49:23
[SPEAKER_00]: Do not save the date.
49:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, at Lane's wedding.
49:26
[SPEAKER_01]: Of course.
49:27
[SPEAKER_00]: That's also kind of a situation where she doesn't have a scene partner.
49:30
[SPEAKER_00]: She really is.
49:31
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, the scene partner is the whole crowd.
49:33
[SPEAKER_00]: But like, she's not playing off of anybody.
49:35
[SPEAKER_00]: No, she is just babbling.
49:37
[SPEAKER_00]: Not save the date.
49:38
[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think partings is one of the most notable performances that she gives in that season.
49:43
[SPEAKER_01]: I feel it's very teach me tonight yelling in the street in a very different way because she is not doing about Rory and not doing about Jess.
49:53
[SPEAKER_01]: It's about her and Luke.
49:55
[SPEAKER_01]: Which I think is quite difficult for her to yell about herself in the street.
50:00
[SPEAKER_01]: She can do that with her mom like they can go back and forth in that way.
50:03
[SPEAKER_01]: but there are a lot of scenes where she's standing up for herself fighting for herself in that way, which I think is what makes that scene so notable in general for the whole show, but that between the two of them is just excellent.
50:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, whenever the camera's on her and that scene, I'm like, yes, yes,
50:22
[SPEAKER_01]: And it switches to Scott.
50:23
[SPEAKER_01]: Don't mind it, but let's go back to Lorelei because she's acting for her life here.
50:27
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's giving everything.
50:29
[SPEAKER_01]: But again, very, very wordy scene.
50:32
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that overall from season one to season six of what we're discussing here, that the idea of giving an award for the performance, has to think about what is going into the performance to make it this believable, to make it this.
50:50
[SPEAKER_01]: magnificent and worthy of such an award that I really think that that is why I'm so shocked that she wasn't because the amount of dialogue that she had to remember and deliver in such a natural way, because it's one thing to remember dialogue.
51:08
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I can remember dialogue and I'm going to sound like I'm reading for with absolutely no emotion, 100%.
51:15
[SPEAKER_01]: But she's doing it in such a way that it feels like it is coming right off the top of her head.
51:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Like that is why I think that I think of her more of a comedic actress because I feel like with drama, sometimes you're almost pondering it a bit more.
51:32
[SPEAKER_01]: But hers is just like coming right off the top of her head.
51:35
[SPEAKER_01]: at the top of her head.
51:36
[SPEAKER_01]: The delivery of it is just so seamless that I never feel like more or less thinking too much about what she has to say, the all of the words are right there ready to be said.
51:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Like a character, like a person like this would be that she's just saying everything that comes to her mind and to be able to deliver that and is seen like the end of partings when she's giving that will to me.
51:58
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, this is it.
52:00
[SPEAKER_01]: This is acting.
52:01
[SPEAKER_01]: This- I don't even know that she was acting.
52:03
[SPEAKER_01]: I think we all went to another dimension where this person was real and they recorded it and they brought it back to us.
52:08
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, maybe that's what they did.
52:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Was anyone actually there when they recorded this scene?
52:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, or was this real?
52:14
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
52:14
[SPEAKER_00]: We'll never know.
52:15
[SPEAKER_00]: We'll never know.
52:16
[SPEAKER_01]: There's no way to know.
52:18
[SPEAKER_00]: Going back to what you were saying would be playing if Gilmore Girls itself was nominated for.
52:24
[SPEAKER_00]: I've said best drama for the like I love you mom kid you have no idea.
52:28
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that if it was for comedy or just being nominated in general.
52:32
[SPEAKER_00]: Partings would be a very good episode to put forward to say like this show deserves the nomination.
52:38
[SPEAKER_00]: But the sequence in Friday nights all right for
52:46
[SPEAKER_00]: It's so well done, it's brilliant.
52:49
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think should have garnered them some sort of accolade.
52:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Especially when you think about the ensemble at it all.
52:55
[SPEAKER_01]: Cause more girls, of course, the Gilmore girls are the main characters, but it really is an ensemble sort of show, not, and maybe I'm disagreeing with myself as I'm saying it.
53:04
[SPEAKER_01]: But I think in the sense of like Friday night dinner, the town, like there is an ensemble in nature to it, even though Lauren Graham is carrying the show on her back, I will say.
53:13
[SPEAKER_01]: I firmly believe that, but I think that there is a lot to be said for like the scene partners in Friday nights, I'm not providing in the practical daughter in parties, but I think that the core of all of those really is Lauren Graham, is that bad to say?
53:27
[SPEAKER_00]: No, I don't think so, but I do think next year maybe we should do an episode about episode slash scenes outside of Lauren Graham, they'll probably include Lauren Graham, that should have garnered like alongside the writing
53:43
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think he likes to the Emmy Awards.
53:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe like episode writing, because of course episodes get nominated versus the whole show when they nominate for writing, that I wonder what, I wonder if we would have the same nominations, like if we would have the same episode as well, because we kind of learned some of that and we were talking about the Emmy accolades that the marvelous Mrs. Mazeal got, because Amy and Dan got their flowers tenfold for her.
54:09
[SPEAKER_00]: The Marvelous Mrs. Bezel compared to what we think they should have gotten and deserved to get some nods in any capacity for Gilmore girls.
54:16
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that that would be an interesting episode to do on a broader scale this, you know, next year.
54:20
[SPEAKER_00]: At this year was more about Lauren specifically, yeah, because, you know, I don't think it's unfair to say that she carried a lot of this show on her shoulders.
54:29
[SPEAKER_00]: She really did because of the dialogue she had to remember in the emotion she had to play on.
54:33
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that just the way that she carries every scene that she's in.
54:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Like even when it feels like it's like truly an Alexis scene, I think that having her there, having Lauren and Alexis together really helps, like Lauren really helps guide the scene, based on who the character is in the show.
54:51
[SPEAKER_01]: And so I think to call it, I don't think I agree with myself of what I said that it's so much an ensemble show.
54:56
[SPEAKER_01]: There is a beautiful ensemble.
54:58
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it is an ensemble show in a lot of ways.
55:01
[SPEAKER_00]: It depends on the episode though.
55:03
[SPEAKER_00]: But at the end of it, yeah, at the core of it, and this was the intention, was that it was always going to be about the Gilmore girls and the Gilmore's themselves, the family, it always comes back to family to mother daughter relationships.
55:14
[SPEAKER_00]: And at the center, if that is, we've always said, Laura Lye is the main character.
55:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because she is a mother in the relationship and she's a daughter in the relationship and that the others are not They're either mother or they are daughter that in that that's really what puts her at the center It's a mother-daughter relationship.
55:29
[SPEAKER_00]: Some other daughter thing.
55:31
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a mother daughter thing and she is the mother and she is the daughter And so the lower leg and more show
55:39
[SPEAKER_00]: that's what this is.
55:40
[SPEAKER_00]: That's what they call it.
55:42
[SPEAKER_00]: That's what they call it.
55:43
[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I think that we could present a very strong and solid case for Gilmore Girls as a whole to receive the legacy award alongside everything we talked about today.
55:54
[SPEAKER_00]: But I think it's really cool that I love Lucy is getting a thing out.
55:57
[SPEAKER_01]: I know because it deserves it for sure.
55:59
[SPEAKER_01]: Does that seem that it was never it didn't receive the accolades they feel like it was meant to I thought that that was the intention of the legacy of word I don't remember what the what it is we can look it up and tell our listeners about it now, but I just saw that it was I love Lucy and I can't remember if it had been nominated I think it was like it feels crazy that it won't have been the awards.
56:24
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I'm not really sure what the intention of the Legacy Award is, if I'm being honest, because I did think that the Legacy Award was for a show that did not get recognized and the way that it should have been during its heyday, during its eligibility, if you will.
56:39
[SPEAKER_01]: And so like that's why I thought something like Gilmore Gross was more likely to get nominated.
56:44
[SPEAKER_00]: I totally agree with you.
56:45
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if that was the intention.
56:48
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just more over to honor classic TV programs that have made a profound and lasting impact on television history and culture.
56:57
[SPEAKER_00]: So it says here according to the television academy that I love Lucy is the first series honored with the newly created legacy award presented to a television program that's made a profound and generational impact on audiences and remains relevant to society culture and the
57:12
[SPEAKER_00]: that is Gilmore Girls.
57:13
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
57:15
[SPEAKER_00]: It says that during its original run, I love Lucy was nominated for a total of 20 Emmy Awards, winning two Emmys for Best Situation Comedy Series with our nez accepting the honors as executive producer.
57:26
[SPEAKER_00]: Ball won two Emmy Awards for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for the show and two Emmys in the late 1960s for her work on the Lucy show.
57:33
[SPEAKER_00]: Ball was inducted into the television Academy Hall of Fame in 1984 and received the
57:39
[SPEAKER_00]: This is a show that absolutely got its flowers.
57:44
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it would be really interesting in the future because this is the first of many for the legacy award to go to a show that didn't necessarily receive its flowers in the way that I would argue Gilmore girls did but still remains like it has had such a cultural impact
57:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I actually feel like I love Lucy's a perfect first one like there's no argument there that it's still relevant today that yes it still is beloved it still holds up I mean it's of its time period that but I just feel like that is something that reference didn't go more girls that it still lives on in that way um perfect pick but yeah I would be very interested to see how they approach that first show
58:25
[SPEAKER_01]: That still has a cultural impact that was never awarded in the way that Gilmore Girls was not because I feel like there's a lot of really popular shows The kind of live on and you're like, yeah, of course, this didn't get awards during when it was airing You know, like this is not this is a neck the kind of show that lives on in that way
58:44
[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't want to insult any shows by naming any of them right now, but I feel like with Gilmore girls, it's like truly baffling that for the at the very least that Lauren Graham wasn't nominated and I remember Amy saying as much that like it didn't mean as much to her that the show or the writing didn't get nominated that it was always
59:13
[SPEAKER_01]: to play Laura like you're more in the way that she did.
59:16
[SPEAKER_01]: And two of it, like this show is so good and that's why it's lasted as long as it has.
59:22
[SPEAKER_01]: Like the show's genuinely very good, very well written, should have been a highly awarded show.
59:29
[SPEAKER_00]: I agree, I think if I'm placing myself down in the year 2000, I understand why it was overlooked.
59:37
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was overlooked in a lot of ways.
59:39
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying, I'm not saying they're right for having overlooked it.
59:43
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying they're right for having overlooked it.
59:45
[SPEAKER_00]: I just think that looking at the shows that they did cast a spotlight on,
59:51
[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't think that they were as locked in on Gilmore Girls as we are today.
59:56
[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't know what to do with a show like that.
59:58
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's also interesting to me that like being on a network like the WB.
1:00:03
[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of shows that were on the WB were not seeing those kinds of accolades.
1:00:07
[SPEAKER_00]: No.
1:00:07
[SPEAKER_00]: The shows that were being nominated were on like the heavy hitters like ABC and BC, you know, and so it's one of those things where I'm kind of like, not that I, I'm like, oh, I get it.
1:00:17
[SPEAKER_00]: HBO also was kind of like a like snuck in there with sex in the city and with the soprano's but the WB shows that network as a whole was not seeing as much love in that category and I think that they I wouldn't be surprised if the Academy kind of
1:00:32
[SPEAKER_00]: Dismisted as being more of like a teen drama putting it into the same category as shows like one tree hill and Dawson's three- Yeah, yeah, whereas like the legacy and those shows have also with stood the test of time don't get me wrong But Gilmore rolls is to turn on yeah, yeah, yeah, I agree and so we'll see what happens as the years pass in us The legacy of words starts to get handed out to other iconic shows.
1:00:59
[SPEAKER_00]: I think though that we could make a really really good argument
1:01:02
[SPEAKER_00]: especially next year.
1:01:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, around this time.
1:01:04
[SPEAKER_01]: We have, you know, we should do, we should put this episode that we've just here recorded on a DVD, we may be for a feeling fancy, mail it to the Emmys, just right Emmys.
1:01:17
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure that the Postal System will figure out something a little bit.
1:01:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, send it out there and use this as like FYC for your consideration for some more girls for the legacy of
1:01:29
[SPEAKER_01]: We are there campaign because, like, of course, the other part that we didn't mention in this is the politics that go into awards seasons like this.
1:01:38
[SPEAKER_01]: You think that they're just nominating the best shows, and they're like, we love this one the most, and there's nothing behind the scenes that goes into this.
1:01:45
[SPEAKER_01]: No campaigning, no emails, no phone calls, no lunches, no.
1:01:50
[SPEAKER_01]: It's very political in that nature.
1:01:59
[SPEAKER_01]: come chat with us.
1:02:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:02:01
[SPEAKER_01]: If you've got more to say, and this comes to my love, love to know.
1:02:06
[SPEAKER_00]: I would be so fascinated to hear from someone who could actually speak to politics at the time, just the landscape of television at the time.
1:02:15
[SPEAKER_00]: If they know like yeah, Gilmore Girls was in contention.
1:02:17
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just like we didn't quite know where to put it or you know It was submitted as a comedy and we didn't feel like it fell into that category It was tremendous drama, but we didn't feel like it fell into that category like oh, I if you're at the WB when about that like did they believe in their own show?
1:02:31
[SPEAKER_01]: Hmm, I don't know.
1:02:33
[SPEAKER_01]: So actually as it turns out, we're gonna have a gossip spin-off podcast But gossip from the 2000s that would be so much fun.
1:02:41
[SPEAKER_00]: That would be a lot of fun
1:02:42
[SPEAKER_00]: But a person we talked about a lot in this episode was one Kelly Bishop and at the time that this episode is I know at the time that this episode has been released we will have already talked to her we have not done so yet I know it's kind of crazy people have been asking me we have this conversation when we when we recorded yesterday like are used like so stoked are you so excited or you're so ready I was like you guys it is still like this distant thing even though it's happening next week I'm like
1:03:12
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my gosh, I like it in process it makes me like butterflies in my stomach now though because I get used to be like when I first learned about it I was just like that's a thing that'll happen in the future to future me, but she's not me right now But now when people talk about it, I'm like Like my parents are coming and they book their flights and I'm like, oh my gosh, it's gonna happen
1:03:30
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't know why them booking their flights was, but got me over mine, because like, yeah, I've just been traveling a lot lately, I guess.
1:03:36
[SPEAKER_00]: But we've been, well, that's the other thing, is we've had a lot going on, so we've kind of, I mean, I have had to very much be like, okay, this week, this is what I'm focusing on, because this is what's happening.
1:03:45
[SPEAKER_00]: This is what I'm focusing on, and so I feel like the excitement for Kelly is just, it's the trust me it's there.
1:03:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it's there, but I just haven't got hard to remember about it to be like am I stoked?
1:03:57
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, like of course I am, but I haven't really sat in the feeling yet.
1:04:00
[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, at this point it will have already happened, but we are going to be airing the conversation for y'all on Thursday.
1:04:06
[SPEAKER_00]: And I am so excited to chat with Miss Lyon.
1:04:11
[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll have more to say on that in the next episode.
