- speaker-1: Breaking it down, seen it in time speaker-0: you Let begin speaker-1: Everett Hall Theater diving in Here we go again, reviewing it. Fade out but the talk goes on never rich home theater speaker-0: Mo. Hey, welcome in Average Home Theater. am Nelson. speaker-1: Hey, what's up, Producer Nick? speaker-0: How are you guys doing? Today we are going to be talking about what there Nicholas? speaker-1: We are going to be talking about the recent theatrical release of Ready or Not 2. Here I come. Is that the sub time? speaker-0: Yes, Ready or Not 2, Here I Come. I guess it's Ready or Not, yeah it is Ready or Not 2, Here I Come. speaker-1: Ready or not to, here I come. The sequel to Ready or Not 1 now, guess. Just regular old Ready or Not. speaker-0: Right speaker-1: That's that's that's something that that's something that came out. When did the first one come out? speaker-0: Was it 19? I think 2019 or 2020 something like that. It was a covid movie. I think come right around. speaker-1: Yeah, completely under my radar. ⁓ I had heard of it, but never really paid it into any mind. Cause I kind of wasn't into that kind of movie at the time, but you had watched it and said that you liked it. So I watched it and I also very much enjoyed it. speaker-0: Yeah, ⁓ speaker-1: Yeah, kind of a sleeper. don't really hear a lot of people talk about it, actually. speaker-0: I had heard about it, right? But I didn't watch it until I think I was scrolling on iTunes one day and it was like 499. And so I just bought it kind of on a whim and watched it and loved it. Like how the hell did I, you know, watch this? Yeah, how did I miss it? speaker-1: Not I'd seen it streaming on, it might've been Hulu. It kept popping up on Hulu, so I was aware of it, but had no idea what it was about. I thought it was just a silly horror movie. And it is, but it's great. speaker-0: I mean, it kind of is but I mean, and it's I mean, I guess it's horror but is it really it's it's more of like it's the thriller type thing. speaker-1: Yeah, it's just I think there's just it's not scary. It's just very gory. speaker-0: Yeah. So that's the only that really the only horror element. Because other than that, it's kind of like Hard Target or Survive in the Game is basically the same movie. speaker-1: I'm loading and it is funny. That's my favorite part of both of the movies actually is the comedy. These people are in horrible situations and they're making jokes. They're all terrible. For the most part, they're all terrible people except for the girl. She's kind of an innocent in the whole thing. ⁓ speaker-0: But I didn't know it was gonna comedy either until I watched it the first time and I laughed out loud a few times. I'm like, okay, so this is supposed to be funny. Yeah. speaker-1: And so the premise, the premise, the first one starts off this girl's getting married and she wants the guys, I think she maybe hadn't met him. And she wants them to accept her and they want her. She wants them to like her. And, you know, she's nervous and talking with the mom who was played by Andy McDowell, right? ⁓ Who's always fantastic. And ⁓ I guess the night before the wedding, they invited her to play a game. Like they, they choose- speaker-0: It was the night of she, they got, she got married. the opening scene is getting married. Right. So we're already married and the tradition is she has to pull a card and they play a game, right? And it seems harmless or innocent enough. Right. If you pull the one card, hide and seek, then. Right. Everything. You know, all that stuff has to happen. speaker-1: Okay, it's been a minute since I've seen it. family gets excited when she pulls the card. speaker-0: some of them were excited and some of them were like, ⁓ you know, they didn't really want to do it. But so yeah, that's ready or not one and it turns out it I mean, I'm hoping that if you're watching this, you've at least seen the first one. So if you haven't seen the first one, I wouldn't watch this at all. Right spoiler alert, but it ends up being this cult they've all speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-0: taken a vow to, I guess it's a, it's a demon. What's his name? speaker-1: I always thought it was, it was. speaker-0: out. They say Balao is Balao supposed to be the devil himself? speaker-1: I don't know. That's all the devil. speaker-0: They say all hail Satan. Yeah. They also talk about Belal. ⁓ speaker-1: Maybe he's just a minion. speaker-0: Right. Like he's a demon, but Satan is, you know, Satan or what, but either way it's a satanic cult. Yeah. And the best part about the first one is the whole time it's like, do you really believe? I mean, I thought it was all a bunch of bull, baloney. I because they really don't say if it's real or not. speaker-1: They of keep you guessing are these people just crazy? it, I mean, you know, they're crazy. You know, they're hunting her. You know that they believe it, but is anything really going to happen if Dawn comes and she's still alive? Cause that's what they're hunting her and they have to. speaker-0: fear of because they know they have to kill her because if she survives they all die. speaker-1: they all die. And I mean, do we want to go long story short, she survives and they all explode. speaker-0: And they all explain, well, you don't see them self-combustion till the like the very end, the last one, which was it her husband? Was he the one that blows up? speaker-1: So is one because they're all kind of waiting around to see what's gonna happen and then nothing happens and they think they're all right It's like well, maybe it was all just bull crap and then one by one they all start exploding speaker-0: Yeah, I remember being in shock. I was like, ⁓ it's real. speaker-1: Yeah, yeah, it's the curse is the curse is real. ⁓ Yeah, really, really fun movie. I was I've watched it a couple of times now. ⁓ speaker-0: Hang on a second. My cat just knocked over my light. So she wins the game and then the movie ends. Well, I think I remember her just screaming. ⁓ She says the F word and then she walks outside. All like this. speaker-1: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, she's kind of like having an out-of-body experience she's in shock basically Like was this real and that's isn't that the kind of a theme throughout the movie like she just wants to smoke speaker-0: Yeah, she just wants to smoke. So she goes outside, lights up a smoke and then that's how the movie ends. Okay. speaker-1: Yeah. I think like the emergency like ambulances stuff start showing up. I don't remember if she called or if there was was there a fire or something maybe the house caught on fire. speaker-0: Is that what it was? Yeah, the house was on fire because at beginning of this movie, ⁓ everybody was showing up. Yeah, because the house was on fire. speaker-1: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, because the it so the second one starts immediately after the first one ends like that's the opening scene. She's on the steps and kind of passes out and they take her to the hospital. ⁓ But before we get into the second one, I have a special guest that wants to finally make an appearance. ⁓ Jacob, you want to you want to put your face put your face in the camera? speaker-0: opening scene. Okay. Let's see, let's see your beautiful face. speaker-1: So Jacob and I have we both watched the second one and when we went to see the first one, I mean when we the second one we we went together at the movies. So this is the the famous Jacob that I always talk about ladies. He's taken. Please restrain yourselves. But he has a good hair. He has a good head of hair. What what did you think about the first the ready or not movie? Did you enjoy it from what? speaker-0: head of I really liked it and it wasn't what I expected Getting jump scared but And I like the ending It was real and everybody just explode It's pretty great and everything ended calm until you find out that it didn't speaker-1: Mm-hmm. it yeah on how Yeah Right. There's more to come. It's not the ending of the story. It's just the beginning. Yep. And then we get into Ready or Not part two. speaker-0: Right, which y'all saw together, right? Y'all both were watching. speaker-1: We would see it together. called you immediately after and said that it's something that you had to go watch and encourage you to go watch it in the theater. First movie that both of us have seen in the theater this year, think. speaker-0: ⁓ no, yes this calendar year yeah. I have not watched anything. ⁓ Jacob, without giving anything away, did you like part two as much as the first one? I think I'd have to rewatch the first one again but I did really like part two. speaker-1: And I. Yeah. Okay. And, and I came out of it. I called you immediately pretty much and said, I liked it better. It might, it might be, it might be that it was just fresher and it was new. And you know, the last couple of movie theater experiences hadn't been great. And I've just really been kind of watching stuff that I've seen already. So this is the first new thing I've seen in a while, but I really enjoyed it. And the more I think about it, I do need to watch the first one again. And maybe after watching the first one again, I might may change my mind. But I think I kind of enjoyed this one a little bit better. It was speaker-0: Yeah, go ahead and watch it again. ⁓ Because I am curious. Well, this one, you know, we're do spoiler free review this one. ⁓ In my opinion, it leaned too hard into the comedy at first. Like a lot of the jokes seemed forced like the first movie didn't have a whole lot of like, jokes in it. It's just things that happened were hilarious. Yeah. speaker-1: And the and the family members that the funniest parts of the movie to me the family members that were the jerks. That's that's just funny. They're they're in this these weird situations and cracking jokes and just kind of being themselves and it just comes off as funny. Yeah, I see what you're saying. It was a little it was a little bit more natural. The humor and the comedy and that one was a little in the first one a bit more natural. speaker-0: Yeah, it just. The cast or the characters were funnier in the first one, just through the way they acted. Yeah. This one, you can tell they like, tried to make it funny at first. Yeah, that first 3045 minutes, I felt like they were maybe trying a little too hard with the comedy. But then once the hunt actually started, and things picked up like the it became natural, like the action got funny and things like that. know, so it kind of fell into place as the movie went on. That was kind of my thoughts on it. But either way, no matter what, that's just like a small nitpick. I thought it was great. I really enjoyed speaker-1: And the the part the performances Samara weaving was awesome. She played ⁓ She played like angry and kind of like the like we talked about earlier the the kind of shock value of it Like what the hell is going on? ⁓ She she did that really well. I was convinced That she was going through those things and it didn't seem like she was acting. The sister was great ⁓ Sarah Michelle Geller and the brother I don't know the guy's name. ⁓ speaker-0: I have never seen that cat before. speaker-1: I've seen him in things when he was younger. He I remember he was in like the faculty. He was one of those he was in a lot of those kind of teenage horror type speaker-0: So he was one of the kids in the faculty? speaker-1: think so. I think so. I think he was one of those guys. So I've definitely seen the guy before. But I think he was maybe my favorite part of the movie. He was such a jerk. Like when he's at the beginning when he's telling everyone to get out of the resort. ⁓ That was kind of everyone please leave and and he gets like, get the f out of here. Yeah, everyone needs to leave. That that was good. And he, he turns out he's got ⁓ speaker-0: We haven't given a spoiler warning yet. Yeah, yeah. speaker-1: But his character changes from he just seems like an idiot at first. But then you realize there's a little bit more to him than that. ⁓ So I really enjoyed his character along with ⁓ the two girls, the two leads were awesome. And then Sarah Michelle Geller I thought was really good too. She kind of did what she does. speaker-0: But let's kind of get into what this one's about. So because she survived, it basically invoked another level of the game. You know what I'm saying? speaker-1: which is one of the things that I liked about it. It didn't. It's not just this stuff happened after the first movie expanded on the lower and expanded on the cult. It expanded on they introduce a sister. They introduced a different families. That's one of the reasons I liked it because it's it is kind of a neat, interesting story. You want to know about more about like in the first one, you don't realize that it's this basically a worldwide thing is these different families all over the world and they're all competing for something and I like that it expanded on on all speaker-0: It has they had to make it make sense because if you if you just leave it like The way the first one ended is which look, you know me I'm kind of a purist if they would have never made a sequel I'd have been perfectly fine with that right not knowing just it was just a thing that happened and that would have been perfectly fine with it speaker-1: Definitely would have worked as a one shot, but the sequel did it justice. speaker-0: Right. They did what they had to do. They had to expand on the lore and make it make sense some kind of way. Like, okay, yeah, it happened, but that can't be just a one off. There has to be more to it. And I think they did a pretty damn good job explaining the next level and what was what's going on on a global level instead of just this one family. speaker-1: And it's and it's weird because what happens in the movie it's basically the same thing that happened in the first movie. Yeah, just on a larger a different level larger kind of a larger scale the consequences were bigger speaker-0: on a different The consequences were bigger, but also you realize what the ultimate prize is, like why they're doing it other than it's like, so what's the point? why do they, they didn't, I don't think they explained that in the first one. What, why they wanted or why that happened. You know, this was kind of like a, ⁓ it was kind of like a price they had to pay for the ultimate prize. Right. Right. And So you never, it didn't really make much sense of, why would they do that anyway? And so this one gives you a, yeah, I don't think they really do this. This movie actually gives you a pretty damn good reason why people would, would participate in this. speaker-1: ⁓ I don't recall. don't remember. Yeah, I think I think the reason that they present is pretty, it's pretty good. It's pretty good. Yeah, it would explain their motivations for sure. speaker-0: Yeah. So I think, I think that's about it though, for the spoiler free part of it. You know, our suggestion is absolutely go watch it, especially if you love the first movie. Yeah. But because there's no reason why you wouldn't like this. mean, I don't, I don't see anybody saying, ⁓ I love the first movie and wouldn't like this one. There's no speaker-1: was I was hooked the entire time. My attention span is not what it used to be. ⁓ These days, I was hooked the entire time I watched the entire movie. never looked at the time I never looked filled with my phone. We sat next to some people are making noise the entire time. And that was the only distraction there was I mean, I, I loved it. I walked out with a giant smile on my face. and called and texted you immediately. Like I really, really enjoyed it it was very entertaining. speaker-0: I'm the button. speaker-1: I don't speaker-0: Yeah, and the movie was about an hour and what 45 minutes? speaker-1: Yeah, under two hours. speaker-0: And which is you know, it's almost two hours, but it didn't feel like it. Because the movie is the pacing is excellent. Like I mean, the movie starts. It starts. There's no real ⁓ downtime in the movie. mean, she gets taken to the hospital, and then questioned about what happened. And the next thing you know, she's in the art is good again. Yeah, so speaker-1: No, no. Doesn't stop. That's right. speaker-0: Absolutely. Go watch this movie. If you don't make it to the theater, that's fine. But you will definitely want to watch it if you like the first one. There's no doubt. anyway. speaker-1: something about this TV situation. speaker-0: Yeah, it's like it keeps it goes dark. So anyway, that's our spoiler free ⁓ little review on it. If you stick around, hopefully that means you've watched it already. And if not, come back after you watch it and see if you agree with what we have to say. speaker-1: Yeah, I'm interested to see if people prefer the first one over the second one or vice versa. Because I know I need to I want to watch the second one again for sure. But as it stands right now, I think I enjoyed the second one a little bit better. speaker-0: Okay, so getting into the second one. What did you like more than the first one? And give as many details as you want. speaker-1: Go ahead. speaker-0: So I can say stuff about the movie now. we are in spoiler territory here as I eat my peeps. speaker-1: as you eat the peep. speaker-0: off. Like with the the Russian guy or whatever that went to killer before the game started and he died. I really really like that because like you said earlier expands on the lore. And so now you know what would happen if they just tried to get it over with. Right. He was trying to cheat basically. speaker-1: and yeah He was trying to cheat. wanted to head the head at the head table, the head spot at the table and the game didn't allow for that. So it had to be, it had to be fair. speaker-0: So now that we know that, then you couldn't have just, like the movie couldn't have just started and then ended immediately for the first or the second one. speaker-1: Does that explain everything? It's basically you can't just kill someone. It's against the rules. There are rules. speaker-0: You don't kill someone you don't know. That's a rule. speaker-1: to rule. Yeah, Kevin Duran, his screen time was very short. But he was he was good. He was the guy that blew up in the hospital. speaker-0: He that was obviously he did a favor for those guys. Cause remember he's an Abigail and stuff and it's the same director. So I'm guessing they were like, okay, we got this. You want to be in this? We got this real small part for you. Cause he was probably committed to something else. Cause his hair was blonde and he has that other movie where his hair is blonde or whatever. So it was probably just a favor, you know, that he did. And he probably shot it all in one day. It wasn't much. speaker-1: as was the sister. Yeah, yeah, he was good though. He was stalking around that hospital. He was physically imposing. Oh, yeah, that was cool. I would have Yeah, he's a big guy very close personal friend. That's why we we met him and in Texas that was in Fort Worth for that was speaker-0: He is humongous. He's our close personal friend. Texas Fright Mayor. No Dallas. Well, yeah, but it was only one week after the Planet of the Apes movie came out. And it was his first ever convention. Yeah. So you and I were in like the first 10 or 15 people to ever meet Kevin Durant at ⁓ speaker-1: Yeah, and I asked him if he ⁓ Because I think we've talked about before I know him and love him from mystery, Alaska he was dreaming mystery, Alaska and I Lost my mind and asked him if he still remembers how to skate Not thinking that the man's a damn Canadian and probably grew up on ice skates It's yeah, he probably goes to work on ice skate speaker-0: He was born on skis. His mom probably skated to the hospital speaker-1: He probably takes a bath with ice skates. Yeah, so that's a good memory. ⁓ So yeah, I agree with Jacob, they kind of give you a glimpse into the world and ⁓ they're speaker-0: Pretty funny. established the rules. They established the rules very quickly that you know, can't just go, you know, yes, they have to kill her, but you can't just do it like there there's a structure. There's a way you have to do it. And if you don't follow the rules then and not only you your whole bloodline so everybody in his family. So you can't just break rule and have a second chance you immediately die. speaker-1: Yeah. Yeah, which is a theme throughout the movie. speaker-0: And like the girl who or the dude who accidentally killed that girl or vice versa, whatever it was, ⁓ he immediately died like the son. Yeah, you couldn't even accidentally kill, right? speaker-1: Mm hmm. Yeah, the only thing you couldn't be penalized for killing a family member like your own family member, which they exploited towards the end. Yeah. What I liked about it was the I like the the introduction of the sister and how they had to rely on each other. I mean, they were handcuffed together for 50 % of the movie. How they had to rely on each other but didn't really get along. You know, they had that history and they weren't they weren't speaking for several years before she showed up to get her at the hospital and how that relationship changed. And that kind of mirrored ⁓ Sarah Michelle Geller's character and Titus, that brother and sister, how they started out versus versus how they ended. I like the humor in it, the scene where the guy's trying to shoot him and keeps missing. ⁓ speaker-0: That guy. Okay. The Hispanic guy, right? speaker-1: ⁓ yeah, he looks like he's got eyeliner on all the time. speaker-0: Yes, he he's in Batman begins he's the police commissioner. He's also in Bates Motel. He is the the police chief the town police chief. speaker-1: That's right. I've seen a lot of stuff. I remember him from lost for some reason. I remember him from lost. I think maybe maybe I'm not remembering correctly. But yeah, he's been on a lot of things over the years, like things that can't even don't even come to mind at the moment. But I've seen them a bunch. ⁓ They all the all the family members were really good. The the ⁓ speaker-0: Oh, he's in loss? I didn't know that. I like the Asian kid that didn't care that only cared about his iPad was the Wi-Fi. speaker-1: He was playing with switch. He ended up blowing up too. Yeah. All the, all the family members had their little own little unique quirks and they were all, they were all pretty funny. ⁓ the, speaker-0: ⁓ The girl that was jealous of her because she stole speaker-1: I was going to say they added the twist. That's another thing that they, they kind of expand on the first movie because the guy had been engaged before, but it got broken off and she was there because she was jealous and that fight scene we had talked about already. That fight scene was probably the best. Tempers pray each other and you get the sister who's getting brutally beaten by the brother Titus in the hall, you know, a few feet away. speaker-0: after they got pepper sprayed. speaker-1: And then you have ⁓ Samara weaving and the in the ex the ex fiance, pepper spray each other, they're throwing fists at the air not being able to see each other. They're fighting nothing. That was speaker-0: waiting for that. ⁓ I laughed out loud on that one. speaker-1: That was quite humorous. speaker-0: And then later on she tries to write before that she tried to shoot her with the rocket launcher and shot the shit backwards. speaker-1: she shot it backwards. Yeah, I forgot about that. Yeah. speaker-0: you like in commando whatever ⁓ ray don chong shoots the rocket launcher backwards speaker-1: Which is funny because in the movie in the movie in the game Helldivers 2 there's there's a weapon it's that for ⁓ for rocket rocket launcher thing and it's called the commando. ⁓ sweet. ⁓ yeah. They knew what they were doing. Anyway, I digress. ⁓ Yeah, it was. ⁓ what about really funny. speaker-0: Your boy, ⁓ Elijah Wood, he was fantastic. He was. As like the host or whatever. speaker-1: He he's the host he's the family lawyer. ⁓ He's the art not the family but like the lawyer for the cult I the sole attorney. Yeah. he was really good. speaker-0: I guess Satan, like there's a, a hierarchy are, and they're kind of like lawyers for these this cult, right? And they make sure that everything is done legally. They're not real lawyers. They're just lawyers in the world in this world. speaker-1: Mm hmm. Everyone. And he doesn't get involved. He tells them what they can do and can't do a lot. He's like that, that, that, that's not exactly right. yeah, he, he really was good. And you know, he kind of goes under the radar sometimes, but I don't think I've ever seen something with Elijah wood that he wasn't awesome in. Like, I mean, guess, yeah, I mean, he's, he's a father. He's Frodo and he'll always be Frodo, but speaker-0: I haven't seen a whole lot. than Lord of the Rings. speaker-1: It's neat to see him in something else like that and you realize how good he really is. Like he was stoic and calm and cool and collected the whole time and funny in his own way. speaker-0: Recently, I saw him in yellow jackets. His role in that was pretty good. speaker-1: Yeah. But he was in a show. was like a remake of a British TV show called Wilfred. It's him. ⁓ yeah. The dog. But it's a human in a dog costume. And I think they kind of do terrible things. I remember watching a couple of seasons of it when a speaker-0: Is it like an imaginary friend? speaker-1: I don't remember. I really don't remember. ⁓ I guess maybe it could have been, but I really don't remember the premise as to why there's a guy walking around in a dog costume. But I remember it being kind of funny. I just never finished watching it. speaker-0: So and getting back to the sister who I thought was great. I really did enjoy the faith character. Yes. You notice their names were grace and faith, which I really like that. Yeah. But they grew up in foster care and I don't remember them mentioning that some are weaving in the first one, but apparently they do mention it that she grew up in foster care, but I don't know if they ever say anything about a sister, but they They kind of fix that by saying they hadn't been speaking for you. speaker-1: Yeah, she's a strange the girl Samara weaving left and thought that it was best for ⁓ for hope to stay Hope of which one was hope which one was faith Samara weaving was hope I'm sorry hope and faith hope and grace Yeah, yeah she ended up leaving and basically saying well the best thing I can do for you is not take you with me I'm going wherever and speaker-0: Grace. No, her name is Grace. And faith is the sister. speaker-1: I'm not going to be able to take care of you and you're not going to have a great life. So stay here. And the, the sister, she resented her for it and that's why they hadn't talked. And like she, there's a part where she, she makes up this boyfriend, this engineer, to make her jealous or whatever. And later on she was like, yeah, he doesn't, he's not an engineer and he, he doesn't exist. He's not real. Uh, that, that was, that was pretty funny, which you kind of, kind of knew that was coming. but the way they kind of did the reveal was really funny. speaker-0: And she claims she was like a some kind of social media influencers. Yeah, manager. She's a hostess. speaker-1: social media manager. Yeah, that was good, man. speaker-0: later on, Samara Weaving's like, well, I'm a waitress, so I'll rank you or something like that. Yeah, technically, I'm a waitress, I'll rank you. speaker-1: Yeah, was, they really did well together. speaker-0: How did you like the the out of her as long as she got married? Did you think that was kind of convenient way of speaker-1: I mean, they kind of hit you with a zigzag because she's offered it towards the beginning of the movie. And she says, no, the sister wants her to do it. And then later on she accepts and wants to marry the brother to save the sister. And the sister doesn't want to do it. They it's neat. It was neat how they flip flopped. mean, I was, I was okay with that. ⁓ they, had to do something to save them cause they were about to die. Yeah. so I thought that was, that was kind of neat. Like you can. get married and accept the proposal and you can you can reign and have all this power and will save your sister that's that's enticing enough. speaker-0: Dude, we forgot to mention ⁓ David Cronenberg at the beginning. speaker-1: Yeah, he was the head of the, that's right. He was the, the, the head of the former head. speaker-0: Right. so basically the whole idea is you rule the world. Right. the world remember he called in there's a war going on and he's like, okay, it can stop now. And then like, within seconds, the war speaker-1: Yeah, you get the ring. Yeah, it comes on the news that the ceasefire or whatever. Yeah. So that's right. speaker-0: We about that. We forgot to mention that they basically set the groundwork for it's to rule the world. you know, and that's why they all all these families all all these people wanted to be the head because they'd be in charge of everything. speaker-1: And he allows the siblings to kill him. And I guess that's because he knew he couldn't compete. He was the eldest of the family. He knew he couldn't compete. So he wanted to give them a chance for that family to rule the whole thing. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know how we forgot about that. Also. Yeah, that was, that was pretty cool. And you realize how ruthless the siblings are. ⁓ speaker-0: And I mean, it's David Cronenberg, you know, right? Yeah, like we just saw him. X. Yeah, let's I mean, never mind that he directed. I don't know one of the greatest science fiction movies of all time to fly. He was in Jason X, damn it. speaker-1: He was in J.C. ⁓ He was in Jason X. Yeah, he got killed by Jason. speaker-0: We want him soft. speaker-1: ⁓ that's so funny. speaker-0: Yeah, that's one of my I don't know what it is about that line. It's just it's it's hilarious not we don't want him frozen. We want him soft. speaker-1: soft. We want to impliable. Yeah. Yeah. So the the sisters get into hijinks and they run and they kind of they kind of dispatch the different family members that are going after them one by one until they finally get caught and she's given an impossible choice and they end up Yeah, she she proposes marriage to the to the brother. The brother ends up killing the sister. That's when you realize that he's you know, he speaker-0: He the sister because he overheard her trying to Right. Samara weaving into killing him, right? speaker-1: Yeah, yeah, basically that's when you realize like they'll do just about anything Yeah Because you can kind of see there's a rift between them like it kind of grows as the movie goes on I wasn't I don't know if I was really expecting her him to kill her Yeah, yeah, that was that was kind of that was kind of neat and unexpected ⁓ And I liked her I liked Sarah Michelle Gellar's character. She was ⁓ she was also like the calm kind of seemingly level headed one walking around with that that old flintlock pistol the whole time. ⁓ She was speaker-0: to down a drone as they were driving a golf cart, which that's a hell of a feat. speaker-1: Yeah, yeah, she's she's good, man. She was ruthless. But she was the ⁓ she was the calm and calculating when she was the planner. And then you realize that the brother was ⁓ a mentally crazy person, which speaker-0: you know, in the end, she outsmarts them all by killing the brother because once they're married, she can kill a family member without any consequence. And and then she can basically denounce being the head like I don't want it. And there was no precedent for it because nobody had ever given up ruling the world. Right. So Elijah Wood was like, speaker-1: Without exploding. She can do what she wants. speaker-0: Yeah, I guess this is really not clear. And then I guess if she's in charge, if she doesn't want any more, she can just give it up. speaker-1: Yeah, and she's she's got the ring and whoever has the ring has the power. So she takes the ring and throws it into a giant bloody pit full of rotting corpses. And all knowing that they're all gonna go after it. Yeah. Yeah. And then dawn comes. And then everyone blows up. Yeah, that that effect. That effect is so from the first one to this one that effect is so cool. People just blowing up all of a sudden and blood everywhere. It's it sounds sadistic and terrible to say it but it's so much fun. speaker-0: I think it was faith that was like, I'm never going to get used to people combusting all over me or something like that. speaker-1: Yeah, yeah, man, she was Samara weaving was so good. Like I want to watch it again right now. speaker-0: Yeah, they all the performances were good. There was nothing. There's nothing really bad about the movie. My only nitpick was that. Like I said in the beginning where I felt like they were trying to be funny too early, that they should have just let it flow and just, yeah, things are going to into place, but it really didn't last all that long. It, it, kind of settled in pretty quickly. So other than that, I really don't have any complaints. I, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. speaker-1: It's it's going to be I don't own the first one on physical media yet. But when the second one comes out, it's only got a Blu ray release. So I'm hoping when the second one comes out, they both get a 4k release. But it's definitely something that's going to be in the in the physical media collection when when the second one comes out, I'm going to be speaker-0: Man, that's crazy. It doesn't have the first one's not on 4k. speaker-1: No, I've searched for it. I've only been able to find a blu-ray release and it's like and it's like $30 on Amazon. It's like 20 26 $30 somewhere speaker-0: Well, if they reprint it, they'll all go down. The problem is it's probably out of print. So there's a limited stock or whatever. So the prices are up. speaker-1: Yeah. And then especially with the with the new one coming out. Because I think the last the last I checked it like when you check Amazon, if there's only a few left and they'll say only one left, whatever. And the last time I looked, it said there was only one left, which I don't think I don't know how accurate that is. speaker-0: I don't know. Deploy. I think so because I've done it where I've panicked. like, ⁓ there's only one left. Get it, get it. speaker-1: It's a tactic. Yeah, and you go back two weeks later and there's still only one. So yeah, excellent movie. Excellent sequel. First one was great. Second was great. Definitely if y'all haven't seen the first one, check it out and then go see the second one as soon as you can. Whether it's at the movies or whether it's ⁓ when it comes out streaming or for home release, whatever it's great, great movies. Good fun. Not for the kids. speaker-0: And it's still in stock. No, it's not for the kids. speaker-1: very, very gory, very profanity ridden. But ⁓ lots of lots of fun. Let's take a couple hours of a good time. speaker-0: All right, like, subscribe, tell your friends. See you on the next one. speaker-1: See ya.
