Latest / Brandon Fogal Evolution / #132 - Wes Huff Confronts Fox News for Twisting His Words
Transcript
- 0:00Wes Huff just called out Fox News for misreporting something about something
- 0:05that he said regarding Joe Rogan and him recently now attending church regularly.
- 0:12So on May 26th, that was just two days ago, Wes Huff put out this tweet and
- 0:18he says to Fox News, he calls them out, you know, the handle,
- 0:21he gives the Fox News handle.
- 0:22Hey, Fox News, your article on this attributes things to me that I did not say
- 0:27and also conflates statements to me that were actually said by my colleagues at Apologetics Canada.
- 0:35I'd encourage you to do a little bit better in your reporting with actually
- 0:39getting who said what correct.
- 0:41So, and we're going to look at the Fox News article.
- 0:44Either way, I tweeted this out and retweeted this and said, either way, praise God.
- 0:51You know, I'm glad Wes Huff because he is, you know, he wants to set the record
- 0:56straight of who's saying what he doesn't want.
- 0:59He doesn't want to dilute or conflate anything or just just add confusion to it.
- 1:04He wants to make it crystal clear where things stand.
- 1:07You know, we know back in December, Wes Huff had a sit down with Joe Rogan.
- 1:13And it was, it was, it was the, it was the introduction for the next level of
- 1:19Wes Huff because it put him on the map.
- 1:22Now he is the guy that is, I would say he is carrying the torch for Christianity
- 1:28in a lot of ways, you know, in a lot of ways because he's brought the conversation mainstream.
- 1:34But now we know that they got a relationship, relationship, him and Joe have
- 1:39a good relationship, it sounds like.
- 1:41And he's probably they're probably messaging each other back and forth,
- 1:44you know, still staying in communication.
- 1:46And either way, that had a huge impact on the trajectory of Joe Rogan.
- 1:52He brought him on there and things were brought to Joe's attention.
- 1:57And what they talked about discussed that this isn't just this isn't just fantasy anymore.
- 2:01I think it's becoming realer and realer to Joe and that the the stories of the
- 2:08Bible, people sometimes get up in arms when you call them stories, which they're stories.
- 2:13They're historical accounts also, but they're stories. They're stories of what really happened.
- 2:20And to Joe, I think he's just had, his mind has been flooded with so many new ideas.
- 2:26He's always looking for what's new, what's out there. He wants things to be true.
- 2:30And if he's wanting something crazy to be true, this is the direction you go.
- 2:36If you're going to Jesus, if you're going to Christ, the church,
- 2:40you know, and the church is a whole, you know, that is a loaded term.
- 2:45That's a loaded term because that is what can drive people away more than anything.
- 2:50Because so many people get turned off by the church, by people,
- 2:53you know, I would say throw out the church, throw out the.
- 2:58And look at Christ. Look at Christ. Look at Jesus.
- 3:01Fix your eyes solely on Jesus. Don't look to the right or the left.
- 3:05Don't look at other people and people that are out there that are saying things
- 3:09about Jesus because everybody's going to let you down.
- 3:12Everybody's going to have a scandal. Everybody's going to do something stupid
- 3:15eventually, and everybody's going to let you down always. They will.
- 3:21The people you love most will let you down and hurt you the most.
- 3:24It will happen. So it's like, know that it's not just, it's that people are fallible.
- 3:29People are, you know, they're not perfect. And this brings to my attention that
- 3:35everybody is always saying, I can't get on board with the Bible because people are fallible.
- 3:41There is a difference between just regular people in the church today and the
- 3:46scriptures. They were wholly written, the word of God that, and it does take
- 3:51faith to agree with that. you know?
- 3:55And I don't want to get into this whole circular arguing of the Bible says,
- 3:59the Bible says it's the word of God. So it's the word of God.
- 4:02No, but it does take an element of faith. And if you just look at the Bible
- 4:06for what it is, you will come to that conclusion.
- 4:09That's what I would say about that. Now we're going to skip over to,
- 4:12I want to look at the actual article itself.
- 4:15So Wes said that the Fox News misattributed to him something that he did not
- 4:20say, but it's the organization that he is with, Apologetics Canada.
- 4:25They have a podcast as well. They do a lot of good work. They actually go out in the field.
- 4:30They go overseas to the Holy Land and the travels of Paul, they go through a
- 4:37lot of different places and look at archaeology and all that.
- 4:39There's a lot there and they are bringing the Bible to life.
- 4:43So there's a lot of good stuff there.
- 4:44But Wes, he is a part of that. That is his organization.
- 4:48So maybe somebody in that organization said something and kind of floated out
- 4:52there and he didn't, he didn't want it. He wanted to set the record straight. So.
- 4:56I'm cool with that. I mean, I think everybody would be cool with that.
- 4:59All right, so let's skip over that.
- 5:01All right, so this is the actual article from Fox. Joe Rogan starts going to
- 5:05church as faith resurgence gains momentum, Christian apologist claims.
- 5:11Now this apologist, whenever people talk about this, because this is becoming,
- 5:16everybody's talking about it.
- 5:17So these churchy terms, this Christianese that people use are gonna start coming
- 5:23into just the regular everyday person and the cool people are talking about it.
- 5:29So these are like apologetics is just a way of saying defending the faith.
- 5:34This is some, this is just a fancy term.
- 5:36It's come from the Greek of apologia to defend the faith, to make a defense. It's a courtroom term.
- 5:42You're making a defense for your argument. And that's just now apologetics are apology.
- 5:47Like we, we think of apology. I apologize for something, you know,
- 5:49but in that when they're using it, which is like, maybe we should change the term.
- 5:53I don't know. But like, it's been that way for, you know, you could say for
- 5:562000 years. So maybe we're just sticking with it kind of thing. I don't know.
- 5:59All right. So let's kind of, let's get down a little bit. All right.
- 6:01According to Christian apologist, Wesley Huff, who appeared on the Joe Rogan
- 6:05experience in January, the world famous podcast host has been attending church
- 6:09consistently since on their air, deep dive into Christianity and the Bible.
- 6:14Huff said, Joe Rogan and I have had on and off communication since then.
- 6:19I can tell you for a fact that he is attending a church and that has been a consistent thing.
- 6:24And so things are happening.
- 6:26The public speaker serves as the central candidate director for Apologetics
- 6:31Canada and made the claim during a recent, recent appearance on the know what
- 6:36you believe with Michael Horton podcast.
- 6:38Wes has been all over the map. He's been on everything. I mean,
- 6:42if you, I don't can't think of a huge podcast except mine, maybe that you want
- 6:46to come on Wes, I'd be willing to take you, I guess,
- 6:49I guess, but, but he's been on everything out there. Everything.
- 6:54So in podcasts, that is the news now. That's where the kids are growing up with podcasts.
- 7:02This is what they're going to know. And it's going to morph into something even crazier.
- 7:06You know it is, especially when AI takes over these influencers that are on podcasts.
- 7:13And you put them out there and they kind of speak for you.
- 7:16We're going to have to figure out who's the organic version of Joe Rogan out
- 7:20there and who's the organic version of that.
- 7:21That'll come a time. But either way, he's going on everything and it's becoming,
- 7:27it's front and center with everyone.
- 7:28And he's been attributed of saying this, that Wes, not Wes, Wes is attributed
- 7:33of saying this, that Joe is going to church now.
- 7:36Praise God. That is awesome. I'm so glad he's going to church.
- 7:41And Joe has a background in Christianity.
- 7:44He came and his early career, he had, it looks like he had a bad taste in his
- 7:50mouth because there's scandals in the church.
- 7:53Like I said, it's going to happen. That's what's happened because people.
- 7:57You don't, once you take on Christ, you don't immediately become perfect.
- 8:02You don't immediately become translated into heaven, you know, a holy angel.
- 8:06You're still, we are, we are pieces of crap covered by Christ's righteousness.
- 8:12That's what it is, you know? And even within the church, there are people that
- 8:16aren't true Christians. So you got to always keep that in mind,
- 8:19that people really aren't following Christ.
- 8:22They have nefarious other desires of what they're doing.
- 8:25You know, they're just using it as a front, you know, within the,
- 8:29within the church, Jesus said there will all, there will be wheat and there
- 8:32will be tears and they're going to grow up together.
- 8:35And at the end of the age, God's going to sort it out. God's going to,
- 8:38you know, he knows who are his, but he's not going to risk messing up the wheat
- 8:44to just pull out the tears right now.
- 8:46All right. Huff added that he is very encouraged by his ongoing conversation with Rogan.
- 8:51I'm so glad that they are staying in communication because Joe Rogan,
- 8:55having a guy like Wes Huff, a person that he can run to that has biblical knowledge,
- 9:00real biblical knowledge, and is able to just communicate it clearly and is not
- 9:06going to just try to hide himself when things aren't,
- 9:10When there are issues in the Bible that are tough to explain.
- 9:15Wes is going to, he's going to attack it all.
- 9:17He's going to talk about it all. He's not going to hide anything.
- 9:20He's a very inquisitive individual. He said, I think for the better,
- 9:24for the better in that he's communicating with me and other people in his life
- 9:28who are influences that can speak into,
- 9:31you know, these issues of reliability and trustworthiness and verse similitude
- 9:36of something that, something like the pages of scripture and where he should
- 9:41and shouldn't be looking for information in regards to that.
- 9:45Huff also pointed out, pointed to a broader resurgent interest in Christianity.
- 9:50Earlier this year, Ascensions, the rosary and a year's podly cast briefly outlook.
- 9:55Rogan's own show on the Apple podcast charts.
- 9:58It says, shortly after that dip in the rankings, Rogan invited Huff onto the
- 10:03podcast, one of the most popular in the world.
- 10:06It says, Huff went on to say that he has observed a growing number of young
- 10:09people seeking Christian faith.
- 10:11He referenced a recent message from a bookstore where teens have been coming
- 10:15and asking for the Bible, reportedly saying, all my friends are reading this thing.
- 10:20And then lastly, it said, we had someone who reached out to us recently at Apologetics
- 10:25Canada, who is probably the last brick and mortar Christian bookstore that I've ever heard of.
- 10:30But they said, we have people walking through our books, our doors,
- 10:34asking young people, teenagers saying, I want a Bible.
- 10:37All my friends are reading this thing. Huff continued.
- 10:41So there's so much there. I'm glad Fox News brought this.
- 10:44You know, Fox News does a lot of good, you know, that might not be the coolest
- 10:47thing to say, but they do a lot of good.
- 10:49I think for the majority, they are the most fair and balanced of the news organizations out there.
- 10:55And to them to talk about this and about Joe's coming into the church and starting
- 11:01to attend and just kind of sniffing around. That's great.
- 11:04It's also good that Wes wanted to clear the air and say, I did not say things.
- 11:08You're misrepresenting what I said, but either way, it's, this is a good thing.
- 11:13This is a very good thing.
- 11:14What is happening because the shift has happened. The culture shift has happened
- 11:18and Christianity is becoming, it's becoming front and center.
- 11:22You know, there's going to be good. There's going to be bad based on that,
- 11:24but either way, it's good.
- 11:26So if you'd like to continue this conversation, hit this link.
- 11:29Thank you for jumping in and have a great day.
