- 0:00They're going to have a ton of money to spend.
- 0:01Why not put it in one of the top three offensive players in the
- 0:05league? We're going to be looking at
- 0:14Aaron Judge and saying that he can't win the big game, Michael
- 0:17Jordan said. I played 82 games.
- 0:20You don't see the fun doing that.
- 0:21A game where you got to go before I told you, Giant fans
- 0:26and Saquon Barkley, this You're listening to Jabba and
- 1:27the Mouth 631. 672-3108 is the number to call.
- 1:38Ladies and gentlemen, we have a new show, a new episode of Jabba
- 1:44in the Mouth. My name is Errol Marx.
- 1:46They call me the mouth. My Co host and partner, the
- 1:51flamethrower, Mr. New York Yankee, Kansas City Royal and
- 1:56Cleveland Indian and a Cleveland guardian.
- 2:00I'm sorry. And a little bit of a little
- 2:02spy. I am Indian, so it's fine.
- 2:05There you go. Or you know, a little spice of
- 2:08the Milwaukee Brewers as well, Mr. Jabba Chamberlain, Speedy
- 2:12Petey, you just heard our executive producer, Mr. Iron
- 2:15Fish Fishman on the board, Mr. Tommy Popes and ladies and
- 2:20gentlemen, the NIF himself, Mr. NIF in our PR manager and the
- 2:25back end, hopefully not taking in the you know what.
- 2:28But anyways, yes, go to our website at
- 2:31www.worldwidesportsradio.com. Check out all our shows
- 2:36throughout the week, including Jabba and the Mouth every single
- 2:40Mondays and Thursdays at 7:30 PM.
- 2:43All you have to do to tune in and check out our local listings
- 2:46for all our shows is go to our website at
- 2:50www.worldwidesportsradio.com. I think everybody thinks that
- 2:57everybody and their mother has a podcast or radio show and
- 3:01everybody thinks that they can do it and, and they could go out
- 3:04there, get the content out there, speak their, speak their
- 3:07piece, speak their spiel, whatever you want to call it and
- 3:10think that, oh, I can get my $0.02 into what's going on in
- 3:14sports. They're all smart.
- 3:16They're all Mr. know it alls or missus know it alls.
- 3:19And that's the problem with this business is when everybody
- 3:23thinks that it's so damn easy to jump on a mic and then they
- 3:25realize it's not, it's so, so easy.
- 3:27We could do 567 hours and everybody would probably be
- 3:30sitting there saying I could do that.
- 3:32That's easy. That's there's no problem in
- 3:34that. I can sit on a mic and talk
- 3:36about garbage every single day, but it's not that easy.
- 3:40And I, I want, I want to say something for all the fans out
- 3:44there. And I know a lot of people have
- 3:47their own takes to everything that we talk about on the show.
- 3:49And maybe everybody that's done journalism writers or even
- 3:54people that have done broadcasting or analyze certain
- 3:58things, not only in sports and music.
- 4:00If you think it's so easy, then try it.
- 4:03But it is, it's not. And I, I want to tell you guys
- 4:06one thing. What makes this so difficult and
- 4:09so hard? You have to build camaraderie.
- 4:11Camaraderie. That's something that is very,
- 4:13very important in this industry and it and it doesn't matter.
- 4:17There's always going to be somebody that you're going to be
- 4:19looking over your shoulders and trying to impress.
- 4:22That's, that's, that's the big problem with this business
- 4:25because everybody, everybody and even Steve White, she's going to
- 4:28be joining us a little bit later in the show.
- 4:30He's got a lot of experience in the back end.
- 4:34This guy has been a reporter his whole career.
- 4:36He's done broadcast. He's been an analyst, a writer,
- 4:40a sensational personality. But everybody thinks they can do
- 4:44his job. It's that easy.
- 4:45Oh, I could be a professional baseball player.
- 4:47I can throw 95 mph, which you probably couldn't.
- 4:52And and there are guys that believe, hey, I could be a
- 4:55professional hockey player. I've I did it in peewee hockey.
- 4:58I scored fifty goals in peewee hockey.
- 5:01And I, I did this and that in high school, but it's not so
- 5:05easy doing this. And again, in this kind of
- 5:08business during Kovid, there were so many open trials to
- 5:12figure out, hey, I could go out there and, and do a podcast.
- 5:15I can go out there and do a live show wherever because everybody
- 5:19is doing and nobody's leaving their house.
- 5:21So I could sit in front of a YouTube camera and, and pitch
- 5:25you garbage about chewing on tobacco or something of that
- 5:29magnitude. It's, it's not so easy.
- 5:32And I, I just wanted to say that because I've been back and forth
- 5:36with somebody, I'm not going to mention any names.
- 5:39And I, he as a friend and he told me, you know, you're a
- 5:43very, very talented arrow. There's no doubt about it.
- 5:45But I could do what you do. I could sit there and I, I can
- 5:49have a conversation with a bunch of buddies and talk about what
- 5:51you're talking about, if I had any interest in it.
- 5:53And I said, oh, really. Well, let's, let's sit down for,
- 5:58for 20 minutes and talk about whatever you want to talk about.
- 6:01And we did that and the guy couldn't get out more than two
- 6:04minutes worth of conversation. It's not.
- 6:06Did you let him talk at that point?
- 6:08Absolutely, absolutely let him talk.
- 6:10Because I honestly, I didn't even know what he wanted to talk
- 6:13about. So he was talking about, you
- 6:16know, fire pistols and all that other stuff.
- 6:18And I'm not going to talk about that on the show.
- 6:20But then he wanted to get into politics.
- 6:22And I'm going to sit there and just listen and listen to his
- 6:25gab because I don't really like to get into that kind of stuff
- 6:29in that conversation, those conversations.
- 6:31So yeah, I let him speak, but it was 2 minutes of blah, blah,
- 6:35blah. And then after that he was like,
- 6:36are you going to speak? No, you said you could speak for
- 6:3920 minutes. I speak for 20 minutes with my,
- 6:42I could speak for 20 minutes blind unfolded.
- 6:44I can speak for 20 minutes when I'm taking a dump and looking in
- 6:48a mirror. I don't need to show you that.
- 6:50It could speak about whatever I want to talk about for 20
- 6:53minutes. So I I just want to let
- 6:54everybody know, know this, all the college kids, all the people
- 6:57that are out there that are trying this and trying to do
- 6:59that and trying to make a living doing that.
- 7:02Good for you. I think you should do it, but
- 7:04it's not so easy. And and whatever you do and
- 7:07whatever you put your heart and soul into, make sure you do your
- 7:10research and make sure you're out there working, grinding and
- 7:15doing the work behind the scenes, because if you're not
- 7:17doing it, you're wasting your time.
- 7:19All right. Wild Card Weekend kicked off
- 7:21Saturday with two great games. Yes ladies and gentlemen, that
- 7:26came down to the wire. In the first game.
- 7:29The Rams edged out the Panthers 34 to 31 touchdown pass with
- 7:34Matthew Stafford to to Colby Parkinson with 34 seconds 38
- 7:40seconds left. Wide receiver Puka Nakua had 10
- 7:43catches for 111 yards with both a rushing and receiving
- 7:48touchdown continuing his dominant season, while Stafford
- 7:52went 24 to for 42306 yards, 3 touchdowns and one interception
- 7:57in the losing effort. The Panthers, yes, the Panthers
- 8:01who are very impressive by the way.
- 8:03Hubbard had two touchdowns on the ground and wide receiver
- 8:07Jalen Coker had 9 catches for 134 yards and a touchdown that
- 8:14put the Panthers ahead until Stafford.
- 8:17Late game heroics sealed the deal and the final game on
- 8:22Saturday was a doozy. And I would say a doozy in the
- 8:27late game. The Bears pulled off another
- 8:29thrilling comeback against the Packers, coming back from down
- 8:3321 to 3 at halftime to win 31 to 27.
- 8:38This is the second, yes, the second massive come from behind
- 8:43victory by Caleb Williams and the Bears against the Packers in
- 8:47just the past month. Williams celebrated with his
- 8:52teammates after the game with cheese grated hats, grating
- 8:57cheese all over the place during the post game interview.
- 9:01Both Williams and Love were great in this one.
- 9:04I thought Jordan was fantastic with Jordan Love having 323
- 9:08passing yards and four touchdowns and Caleb Williams
- 9:11having 361 passing yards and two touchdowns.
- 9:14According to the NFL Next Generation Stats, the Bears
- 9:19comeback was the most improbable comeback this season and the
- 9:24fifth most improbable in the last 10 years.
- 9:27The Rams will now face the Bears in the divisional round of the
- 9:31playoffs. First we'll go game from game
- 9:34and the first game was unbelievable.
- 9:38I, I got to give the first of all the Carolina Panthers a lot
- 9:41of credit. Canalis and all of them, I, I
- 9:44was just so very impressed. Bryce Young is not a star
- 9:48quarterback and I, I do believe Canales can win with Bryce
- 9:51Young. We've seen a lot of bad
- 9:53quarterbacks or decent quarterbacks win Super Bowls.
- 9:56I don't know if it's going to happen, but it's, it was very
- 9:59impressive. And the Carolina Panthers
- 10:01defense all season long, especially in the second-half,
- 10:04was sensational. And in this game, in certain
- 10:06parts of the game, they were flat.
- 10:09But when they needed to make a play, they made the play.
- 10:12And I will say this, Matthew Stafford and I know Steve Watch
- 10:16is going to be coming on in just a few moments telling me how
- 10:19great Matthew Stafford is and why he believes he's a Hall of
- 10:22Famer. There's no day, no doubt, that
- 10:24Matthew Stafford is a Hall of Famer.
- 10:27There's no question this guy has been the best quarterback all
- 10:31season long. And if Drake May wins the MVP,
- 10:34shame on the NFL, shame on the voters.
- 10:36But I will say this, Bukanukua is a beast.
- 10:41That man is not human. I he's a blocker, he can run the
- 10:47ball, he can catch. He can do everything you want
- 10:49him to play. I think he could be a defensive
- 10:51lineman if he wants to be. The guy is unbelievable.
- 10:54Cornerback, safety, you could put him anywhere on the field.
- 10:58This man is been so impressive. What was he, a fourth round
- 11:01draft pick? Round pick.
- 11:03I mean, this guy has been unbelievable.
- 11:05You're you're talking about the best wide receiver in the NFL.
- 11:09Fish were talking about it last week on the show when you're
- 11:11trying to compare what Najigba did this year and Puka Nakua.
- 11:15Who would you take? What kind of season would you
- 11:18take Pukas or Najigba? And and even Fish who has this
- 11:22like love fetish, like he wants to like sniff his underwear in
- 11:27Ajigba. He said he'd take Puka Nakua.
- 11:29What he does best, blocking and doing all the things that Nukua
- 11:33does. Nukua is special.
- 11:36You think he's the best receiver right now?
- 11:38No question. I don't think you can argue that
- 11:40he is the best. Why did they decide to move away
- 11:42from Cooper Cup? I know Cooper Cup was done.
- 11:44He wasn't healthy, but Cooper Cup?
- 11:46Think about it. Mcveigh's had arguably two of
- 11:49the best wide receivers in the last 20 years on the same
- 11:54honest, honest roster for at least.
- 11:57And by the way, Cooper Cup was the best wide receiver in the
- 12:00league probably for three years. And Puka Nakua is going to have
- 12:04a chance to be the best wide receiver in the league for the
- 12:06next 10. He is special.
- 12:08I know you're not a McVeigh fan, but do you do you give him a
- 12:11little credit for believing him and and going to him?
- 12:14Well, he didn't draft him. He was a part of the draft
- 12:17search. But I mean, he developed him.
- 12:19You got to give him credit for developing him, but.
- 12:21And he's a master of 11 personnel.
- 12:23Think about his first year, too. He went with Sammy Watkins and
- 12:26Robert Woods his first year and made that work.
- 12:28Yeah, and and and again, Sean McVeigh is a he is a genius when
- 12:32it comes to the offense. Just I know a lot of people love
- 12:34Kyle Shanahan wants to call Kyle Shanahan a genius, but to have a
- 12:38guy like Matthew Stafford's not not too shabby.
- 12:40I mean that. I mean, and and 38 to be able to
- 12:43do what he's doing, 37 going to be 38 by the end of the year.
- 12:46Yep. Yeah.
- 12:47And it's it's, it's so fun to see and like the best is just
- 12:52the recaps. And I don't know if you guys saw
- 12:54this, but like, you know, Mcveigh's play calls are crazy,
- 12:57ridiculously long. And they had one of Stafford and
- 13:02he was just like, stop, I got it.
- 13:03Like just stop. Like we got this.
- 13:06And he's like tell him to huddle and like he's laughing about it.
- 13:09And that's what I think it comes down to what we said a little
- 13:12bit earlier, like the leadership of like how he's able just to
- 13:15calm everybody down. But a man of that stature in
- 13:19what Stafford is, and to do it at the level that he's doing it
- 13:23right now. And also it's, it, it makes it a
- 13:27little bit easier when you can throw to Puka and, and do things
- 13:30off of him where it lets you be able to have a little bit more
- 13:33freedom. I think it's just, it's so fun
- 13:36to watch them. It it they're, they're a fun
- 13:38team to watch. And, and again, the Panthers,
- 13:41Bryce Young didn't have a bad day.
- 13:43He was 21 for 42164 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception.
- 13:47He was sacked twice. But I and, and they didn't get a
- 13:49lot of run running from this team.
- 13:51I mean, Hubbard and Dowdell was left to and Young ran the ball
- 13:5624. Young was the second leading
- 13:58rusher on the Carolina Panthers in this game.
- 14:01Dowdell was completely taken out of the game.
- 14:03He had five rush rushes for 9 yards.
- 14:06That's all he had. And Hubbard had two touchdowns
- 14:10for 40 and 46 yards. They couldn't.
- 14:12And, and again, joker Joe Coker was fantastic.
- 14:16McMillan was good. I mean, they had, they spread
- 14:19out their offense very, very well.
- 14:20I, I love what Carolina does. Canales is a great coach.
- 14:24I think Canales deserves a little bit of credit and and
- 14:27maybe a part of this this coach frenzy for coach of the year.
- 14:32I still think McDonald is the coach of the year for what he
- 14:35did with Seattle and winning the NFC.
- 14:37But I got to give Canalis a little bit of credit.
- 14:39He took over for with Bryce Young.
- 14:41He was handed Bryce Young, who I thought was to me small, not
- 14:46very talented and was they were reaching, they moved up in the
- 14:49draft reaching for him and and has failed to really develop
- 14:53into the quarterback everybody thought in Carolina.
- 14:56But I got to give Canalis. Canalis is the mastermind of
- 14:59this team. So I to me from when you look at
- 15:02this game and trying to compare and contrast what McVeigh did, I
- 15:06got to give a little bit of canal credit for Canales because
- 15:09he stayed in this game. And by the way, Carolina had a
- 15:11chance to win this game with two minutes left in the game.
- 15:13Yeah, I thought Canales coached brilliant, considering the
- 15:16Panthers lost their left tackle in Equano, Robert Hunt, their
- 15:19other, their left guard was not playing at 100% either.
- 15:22And yeah, they didn't have the great running game, but they
- 15:24still were very creative and getting those receivers for
- 15:26Jalen Coker is a guy that a lot of these fantasy analysts like,
- 15:28but he's not an overly talented wide receiver.
- 15:30And they got him open tight ends, they were getting open at
- 15:32certain points. And the Panthers defense, you're
- 15:34right. I got to give him a lot of
- 15:35credit. Now, their coordinator in Aveiro
- 15:37comes from the Rams, so kind of knows them a little bit.
- 15:39So they started off flat, like you were saying, Errol, but they
- 15:42second and third quarter, they really outplayed him.
- 15:44I think Canalice and Ivaro did a very good coaching job.
- 15:46Just the talent gave out at the end.
- 15:48Wasn't Iquana the guy we could have gotten instead of Evan Neil
- 15:52wasn't? No, he was the one that went
- 15:53right before Evan Neil. Right before Evan Neil, I was
- 15:56like, oh, I want him or Evan Neil in that draft.
- 15:59Well, when that happened, I was like, that's a patellar tendon.
- 16:02That's the only injury that can happen when you get rolled up
- 16:04like that. That's probably the worst
- 16:06injury. I don't know if he's going to be
- 16:07able to come back from that one. That sucks like if both, but I
- 16:11think he might have messed up both patellar tendons.
- 16:13He got rolled straight over in that one.
- 16:16It's you almost never see it. They that coach is great.
- 16:20Canalis is fantastic. I don't think Bryce Young's very
- 16:23good. I think he's created a very good
- 16:25offense with a couple of really good receivers.
- 16:27Coker was hurt a lot of the year and he was really strong last
- 16:31year as a real sleeper and fantasy help.
- 16:32It was one of those guys that helped teams win, not this year,
- 16:35but last year. And then he kind of came back a
- 16:39little slow and he looked like he was at full strength in this
- 16:41game. He was awesome, complimenting
- 16:43Ted McMillan. They got something with those
- 16:45two guys going forwards. The problem was Dowdle was
- 16:49having problems with the fact that they took away his carries
- 16:51and gave him back to Chuba Hubbard when he came back from
- 16:53injury. And there he was very unhappy.
- 16:56He was very vocal about being unhappy after the game.
- 16:59He's definitely moving on to another place next season and I
- 17:02think that was probably more of what happened there and.
- 17:05Obviously you think that happens when you have two quality
- 17:07running backs like that. I think they got sometimes it's
- 17:11like, you know, it was like a great surprise to see Daddell
- 17:15was that effective without Hubbard.
- 17:17And then when he came back, he was arguably still better than
- 17:19Hubbard and it wasn't great. But Daddell's not like going to
- 17:23set the world on fire either. He's just a good player.
- 17:26If you know he's in the right system and getting fed, he can't
- 17:29be like, you give him 5 carries, he's only going to get you 9
- 17:32yards like you did in this game. You got to give him the 20
- 17:34carries and he's going to break one or two and you're going to
- 17:37get those 2470 with a touchdown or two type numbers for him.
- 17:41So he wanted that and he didn't get it, and it kind of led some
- 17:44dissension and they kind of sucked, man.
- 17:46I will say this and the game that I was so excited to watch
- 17:51was the Bears and the Packers. I, I thought that to me was so
- 17:55exciting. I was at my sister's house.
- 17:57I was watching it on my phone and watching these two teams,
- 18:00they can't stand each other. They absolutely can't stand one
- 18:04another. You saw what Johnson was doing
- 18:08and what he was saying on the sidelines.
- 18:09I don't know if you can mimic what he was saying on the
- 18:11sidelines, but even at the end of the game, they barely shook
- 18:15each other's hands. Him on the floor, can't stand
- 18:17each other. It's something that we've seen
- 18:19before, the Chicago Bears and the Packers never liked each
- 18:22other, ever liked each other. And when you take over, you're a
- 18:25part of this rivalry. You, you look at him, you, you
- 18:29have to come into that rivalry. Remember, Ben Johnson was the,
- 18:32the, the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions in the
- 18:35same division and they couldn't stand each other when they were
- 18:38when he was the offensive coordinator and he was coaching
- 18:40the Packers for many, many years.
- 18:41I could tell that they don't like each other.
- 18:43But I, I love the dynamic 2 quarterbacks.
- 18:47These are the two quarterbacks that I think are the future of
- 18:50the NFL. Jordan Love who special guys in
- 18:53the playoffs. This guy is as good as of a
- 18:56quarterback we've seen in a very, very long time.
- 18:58When you talk about Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre and what
- 19:01they've done in the playoffs many, many times.
- 19:03Look at this kids numbers in the last three years in the playoffs
- 19:07this man shows up 24 for 46323 yards, 4 touchdowns, 0
- 19:13interceptions. He was everything to this packed
- 19:16team. He really was the Packers.
- 19:19Really it was to me blowing them out going into the second-half,
- 19:2421 to 3. This was very, I would say
- 19:26patriot esque against the Atlanta Falcons.
- 19:29Do you remember that in the Super Bowl?
- 19:31That was that's how bad it was. I thought this was going to be a
- 19:33blowout, but I said to I was sitting there and I was talking
- 19:36to Brittany and I was like, this game is far from over.
- 19:39I wouldn't be surprised if Ben Johnson has something up his
- 19:41sleeve. And boy, oh boy, did he ever.
- 19:44It was so impressive, so impressive what Ben Johnson did
- 19:48in the second-half, how he brought Caleb Williams to life.
- 19:52Because Caleb Williams in the first half, I don't know where
- 19:56he was. He was far, far up his ass
- 19:58because or he was trying to paint his nails because his head
- 20:02was not in the game. That's for sure, ladies and
- 20:05gentlemen. But in the second-half, Caleb
- 20:07Williams awoke and he made some dynamic plays and you can see
- 20:12why a lot of people are including me or yours truly.
- 20:17I believe that he is very Aaron Rodgers esque.
- 20:19This guy could do everything on the field.
- 20:21He can throw on the run. He's got a lightning arm.
- 20:24This guy can can be as elite of elite as we seen any quarterback
- 20:29and it showed the final play of the game, offensive play of the
- 20:32game for the Bears was so impressive, so impressive by
- 20:36Caleb Williams, taking him down the field, doing the things that
- 20:39Caleb Williams does so well. And, and, and to me, as cocky as
- 20:43Caleb Williams has been when he's coming to the league, he's
- 20:47he's been very humble over the last couple of weeks and he
- 20:51knows that Ben Johnson is the reason why he is slowly but
- 20:54surely developing because we know it's not ever flues who got
- 20:57fired again. So we we understand what Caleb
- 21:01Williams is going to bring to the table and if Ben Johnson can
- 21:04get out what he got out of Caleb Williams in the second-half of
- 21:09the game, watch out for the Bears.
- 21:12I wouldn't even Billy, I would even argue that the Bears could
- 21:15go to the Super Bowl this year and surprise the world and win
- 21:18Ben Johnson, a rookie coach with Caleb Williams and this defense,
- 21:22this defense, when they needed to make a play, they did the
- 21:24Packers defense played well. But in the second-half, I their
- 21:28heads were so far up their asses and and, and Lafleur, should he
- 21:32be fired? No, he shouldn't be fired.
- 21:34And by the way, the media has to layoff on Jordan Love at the the
- 21:38end of a game. Do you want to deal with the
- 21:40media asking you what what they what they think the Packers
- 21:44should do to your coach when you have a good relationship with
- 21:47that same coach? No, I don't want to hear that.
- 21:49I just lost. I got to sit out for the rest of
- 21:52the season wondering what my team did wrong because I showed
- 21:55up in the game when the game needed me.
- 21:58OK, that's what I'm going to say about that.
- 22:00I don't want to hear the media. I don't want to hear what the
- 22:02media has got to say to me when I'm pissed off because my team
- 22:06did not show up in the second-half and I did that to
- 22:10me. I would piss me off.
- 22:12And I got a Jordan Love handled it very, very well, Very, very
- 22:16well. But Jake Jacobs didn't show up
- 22:19to this game. What the hell happened to Josh
- 22:21Jacobs? 1919 rushing yards.
- 22:25I mean 19 rushes for 55 yards. The guy didn't show up.
- 22:30They they had no running game, No running game.
- 22:32The Green Bay Packers and the only person that showed up
- 22:35really. And by the way, Matthew Golden
- 22:37had his best game in the big game, but the only one that
- 22:39showed up was Dobbs. What happened to Watson?
- 22:43What happened to what happened to Reed did to me when you have
- 22:48two best wide receivers did not show up to the game and really
- 22:51they're I don't know what the hell.
- 22:53Maybe they were having some tea and crumpets on the sidelines
- 22:56with each other. They did.
- 22:57They just look like they were at a no show, no show all game and
- 23:02don't I don't want to hear that they didn't have any looks.
- 23:04Both guys had 7 targets and both guys did absolutely diddly squat
- 23:10and I don't care about their touchdown.
- 23:12Everybody, well, they got a Errol, they got a touchdown, A
- 23:15touchdown, A touchdown. They didn't do enough.
- 23:18They didn't do what they do best.
- 23:21Reed, to me, should have done more and he's the lightning bolt
- 23:25for Watson. Those guys didn't do enough When
- 23:29you're talking about Matthew Golden, who has been really,
- 23:32really bad. This guy was a first round draft
- 23:34pick, first round, and he didn't show up.
- 23:39I mean, he showed up and the other guys didn't show up.
- 23:41To me. There's a big problem, Speedy.
- 23:43Yeah, there's definitely a problem when you look at there's
- 23:44no variance with the wide receivers, with the Packer.
- 23:46And I think there's no variance with the offensive line, too.
- 23:48And that's why the Bears, I think we're finally able to get
- 23:50some leverage. I was worried about the pressure
- 23:51rate with them. And you're right, Ben Johnson is
- 23:53just that good of a coach. The Rams might have the most
- 23:54talented offense. The Bears might have the most
- 23:56unpredictable, though, with the schemes that he's running.
- 23:59It's like Mcveigh's first year, except with probably a little
- 24:01more different concepts than it. And that could make the Bears
- 24:03scary if their defense can get healthy.
- 24:05I agree with you. This is might be I think I had
- 24:07the Rams going to the Super Bowl at the beginning of the year
- 24:09that the Bears could get another level to them if they can get
- 24:12healthy on defense. We talked about this too, and I
- 24:15think we said it early in the year and I think Errol, you're
- 24:18the one that said it. It's like he's going to be
- 24:20special. We saw how he's kind of
- 24:21progressed through, you know, this second-half of the season
- 24:25and obviously the defense stepped up.
- 24:27But the way I think really like in the maturation process of you
- 24:32talked about how Jordan Love handled the media afterwards, it
- 24:36was really, really cool to see as somebody that's had to handle
- 24:40media through good, bad and indifferent of the way Caleb
- 24:44handled the interview afterwards.
- 24:46He was took his time, answered the questions very articulately
- 24:53and he literally didn't give credit to himself.
- 24:57He gave it to everybody else and kind of what they're doing is
- 24:59like, we have to get better. Like what do you do?
- 25:02Like he was, he was focused on like the negative, which is a
- 25:06great thing of how we get better.
- 25:09But he was easy to give praise to everybody else.
- 25:11And like he took his time to answer the questions.
- 25:14And I think we've seen him come in and the expectations of like,
- 25:19oh, well, I'm that dude, right? I'm that dude.
- 25:22So everybody expects me to do this.
- 25:24And then when he handled a little bit of failure, I don't
- 25:26think he handled it the best way early.
- 25:29But I think you hit the nail on the head.
- 25:31And I know I say that a lot, but Ben Johnson has helped him
- 25:36progress to be what he is now. And I wouldn't be surprised
- 25:40either if they go shock the world and and get a chance to
- 25:43get there. And I really, I really think
- 25:45it's going to be something fun to watch.
- 25:49And speedy, you said it's like they they're the most
- 25:51unpredictable offense because you don't know where the hell
- 25:54they're going to come from. And that's Ben Johnson.
- 25:57And you've seen what the Lions did this year without Ben
- 26:01Johnson. And so I think that's a really
- 26:04telltale of what we talk about when there is a coaching aspect
- 26:09that comes even these are the greatest players in the world
- 26:11where that's still, it still comes into play of where you
- 26:15exude confidence, you exude the the expertise of what I am, but
- 26:20you have to go execute it. But I'm going to give you all
- 26:22the pieces of it. And if you go do it, man, we're
- 26:25here for you and we'll celebrate you and praise you.
- 26:29And I think that it's coming together, which you didn't think
- 26:33this Bears team would probably be in this situation at the
- 26:36beginning of the year. None of us did.
- 26:40It's been crazy. And it's been a great, great,
- 26:43great wild card weekend. I got to give them the NFL a lot
- 26:47of credit for actually putting this, putting it together.
- 26:50I just didn't like the Patriots game on a prime time Sunday
- 26:53night game. It was to me, it was out of all
- 26:56the games, that's the game you're going to pick.
- 26:58I think I would have picked, I would have picked the Buffalo
- 27:01Bills and the Jaguars. I would have taken the Packers
- 27:03and the Bears on Sunday Night Football.
- 27:05I think to me, I know it's Saturday night.
- 27:07They were on Saturday night, but I would have moved them to
- 27:09Sunday night and maybe move Buffalo into the Jacksonville
- 27:11Jaguars on Saturday night. That's where because I thought
- 27:14that the Bears and the Packers, they hate each other.
- 27:16That's what I want to see. Two teams absolutely dislike
- 27:19each other. Go at it on Sunday Night
- 27:21Football and where everybody's going to be hanging out at the
- 27:23bars and chilling out. I Saturday night.
- 27:25I mean, everybody is there, but every, everybody's partying on
- 27:27Saturday night, too. That's that handshake was
- 27:30something, wasn't it? Yeah, it was great.
- 27:31It was great. It was like the side eye, not
- 27:34even like a look to the face like I was, you saw Jordan and
- 27:38Caleb come together. But then just like the side eye
- 27:41of like, hey, I know I have to do this, but I don't want to do
- 27:44it. Yeah, it was definitely
- 27:46something to very interesting to watch.
- 27:49All right, rise. It didn't catch more legs
- 27:51though. I mean it did a little bit, but
- 27:53not not that much. Well, I it caught a lot of legs.
- 27:57Trust me on almost every single social media, especially X.
- 28:01It was all over the place on Thursday night in the first
- 28:05College Football Playoff semi finals.
- 28:07The number 10 Miami Hurricanes beat on Old Miss and the Rebels
- 28:1331 to 27 heard. the Hurricanes running back Mark Fletcher had
- 28:19another strong game for Miami with 133 yards while Old Miss
- 28:24running back Mr. Lacy had 103 yards including a 73 yard
- 28:30touchdown in the second quarter but pulled his hamstring
- 28:34hamstring limiting him through the rest of the game.
- 28:37Old Miss Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss had 277 yards and a go
- 28:44ahead passing touchdown to give Old Miss a three-point lead with
- 28:48three minutes and 13 seconds remaining in the game.
- 28:52But Miami quarterback Carson Back, yeah Carson Back, who
- 28:57finished with 268 yards, 3 total touchdowns, responded with a
- 29:02game-winning drive. Running it in himself with 18
- 29:07seconds left, Chambliss was able to get Old Miss one last shot in
- 29:13the end zone, but fell short, sending Miami to a national
- 29:18title game for the first time since 2002.
- 29:24In the marquee match up, the undefeated #1 seeded Indiana
- 29:28Hoosiers stay that way, completely, completely
- 29:32destroying the number 5 Oregon Ducks 56 to 22 to advance to
- 29:38their first national championship in school history.
- 29:41Indiana's ground game was dominated in it again, rushing
- 29:46for 183 yards, 85 yards, while Oregon struggled, getting only
- 29:5293 as Ducks quarterback Dante Moore had several costly
- 29:58turnovers fumbling. Of course, Fish would put this
- 30:00together, fumbling a snap inside Oregon's 20 yard line and
- 30:05throwing a pick 6 on the first play first play from scrimmage
- 30:11in this game, setting the tone for the rest of the night.
- 30:16Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza was nearly perfect again
- 30:20with 177 passing yards, 5 touchdowns to four different
- 30:26receivers. Indiana is a 7.5 point favorite
- 30:30against Miami in the national championship, which is located
- 30:35at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami next Monday, which is a a nice
- 30:40beautiful stadium. So let's go into the games.
- 30:44All right, so the first game was the Hurricanes and Ole Miss.
- 30:48And by the way, Champliss is going to probably go to the NFL
- 30:53draft because there's something that went something he couldn't.
- 30:59Yeah, he was his six year or something.
- 31:01So he's going to be going into the NFL draft.
- 31:02I don't know if he's a first round talent.
- 31:04He'll probably fall to the second round with Carson Beck,
- 31:07but we'll see how that falls. But the game I thought was
- 31:11fantastic to watch. The Rebels were back and forth
- 31:14with Miami and Miami had a very small lead going into the
- 31:18second-half. And I, I thought this was what
- 31:21we expected it to be. It was going to be a close game.
- 31:24It was going to be a battle, I believe, of the running game.
- 31:28And I think obviously the Miami Hurricanes did enough
- 31:33defensively in the game, especially in the fourth quarter
- 31:36that kept them close to Chambliss and, and the Rebels
- 31:40and, and gave them a chance to win the game.
- 31:42And, and they did. I I will say this, I don't know
- 31:46what's going to happen in the national title game.
- 31:48And I'll get into the Hoosiers and, and what they did just
- 31:50manhandling the Ducks and they did, they manhandle the Ducks.
- 31:54And of course Fish wanted to put that put out there Dante Moore
- 31:58and how bad he looked in in that game.
- 32:00But I still think Dante Moore is going to be a good quarterback
- 32:04in the NFL no matter if he goes out this year, it comes out next
- 32:08year. But Fish put.
- 32:09That was your boys, Speedy. It's not me.
- 32:11You got to explain Speedy on that.
- 32:12One fish put that there. Whatever speedy put that there,
- 32:15because there's a good chance he could be a jet.
- 32:18I, I, I don't know. But the fact here is the
- 32:22opportunity Miami has to knock off an undefeated Hoosier team
- 32:26is, is up for grabs. And I, you heard everybody was
- 32:29saying is Miami back is Miami back?
- 32:31And on social media, a lot of the ex Miami players said on
- 32:36social media, I'm not going to name because you know who they
- 32:38are said it. Their only way they're back is
- 32:41if they win the national championship.
- 32:44And and the question is, and I and we will get into that
- 32:47probably in the next couple of weeks.
- 32:49Well, actually not a couple of weeks this week on Thursday,
- 32:51because the game is what a week away?
- 32:54We we can go on the ins and the outs of the game.
- 32:56I'm not here to say it or talk about it.
- 32:58The fact here is it was a heavy dose of Bain and and this
- 33:03talented front seven in the fourth quarter, they put a lot
- 33:06of pressure on Chambliss and Chambliss really was put in
- 33:09spots where he was uncomfortable.
- 33:11Do I think the final play of the game was a penalty, 100%?
- 33:15That was a penalty, but no way in hell is the referees going to
- 33:20call at the end of the game with what, 3 seconds left or two
- 33:24seconds left of the game? You're going to call a penalty
- 33:26when it's an if he call. But it was a penalty.
- 33:29It was a back and forth battle. I like the fact that Lane Kiffin
- 33:33is not getting any more money from from LSU because he he just
- 33:38made himself $750,000 because of the advancement of old Mass
- 33:44moving from one team to another. Besides the Tulane game, the
- 33:47Georgia game was very, very close and this game was very,
- 33:50very close for obviously Miami and and and the Rebels.
- 33:54I thought it was very well played, very well coached both
- 33:57coaches and I think Golden has a chance to be something special
- 34:01because going into the playoffs, I was unsure on Golden, But
- 34:06watching the coach and watching the players flock to him and
- 34:09even calling timeouts at the end of the game and getting more,
- 34:12you know, round, you know, riled up and and and really feeling
- 34:15and believing in the team. It shows a lot about how a coach
- 34:19because college is different from the NFL.
- 34:21These guys don't rile you up. You're making millions and
- 34:24millions of dollars. Jabba would tell you that.
- 34:25Nick Goody would tell you that you don't need to be, you know,
- 34:28hyped up. You're making a lot of money.
- 34:31You got to go out there and play the game.
- 34:32These college players, they're making some money and some of
- 34:35them are getting rich, but you're out there trying to play
- 34:38for one another. And you can see that both these
- 34:40coaches in Miami and with the Rebels have that in them and
- 34:44instilled into them. And that's what was so fun,
- 34:46speedy to watch was the coaching and and the way they coach these
- 34:50players. Yeah, absolutely.
- 34:51For a defensive coach to to have that good of an offensive game
- 34:53plan against Miami's defense that just shut down Ohio State,
- 34:56the defending champs that thought of as the most talented
- 34:59team in the country. And then even the week before
- 35:01against Texas A&M that had a good offense on paper.
- 35:03This was a Miami team that combined for just 17 points
- 35:05allowed in those two games. And then to really keep it
- 35:08going, they struggled in the first quarter.
- 35:10But besides that, they he had a pretty steady game plan and that
- 35:12was with Kyron Lacy not playing 100% because of or Kuan Lacy not
- 35:17playing 100% because of the hamstring injury he suffered.
- 35:20He had that big touchdown run. But again, like I was talking
- 35:22about the Jaguars and the Bills and the Jaguars not being
- 35:24consistent running. They weren't able to be
- 35:26consistent running the ball because of that.
- 35:28And if he was healthy, maybe that's a little bit different
- 35:30and almost his offensive line, I think against that pass rush, I
- 35:33would say still held their own most of the game.
- 35:35Yes, you're right. Bane did have his moment.
- 35:36I thought the interior rush for Miami did well at.
- 35:38Certain in the big parts of the game, especially in the fourth
- 35:41quarter, Miami's defense really exploded off the paper.
- 35:45Yep, they did. And like I was mentioning with
- 35:47the Georgia game, I still think Chambliss made enough of those
- 35:49good throws to obviously rally them back.
- 35:51Do you think he's a first round talent?
- 35:52No, I think he's just because of his size.
- 35:54I don't think he'll be a first round talent.
- 35:56I think his arm talent is is not super big arm, but I think he
- 35:59makes enough intermediate throws where I think.
- 36:00He doesn't get drafted over a guy like a Carson Beck.
- 36:04I would draft him over Carson Beck personally, but I think it
- 36:07all depends on scheme. It all depends on because Beck
- 36:10has the experience where I think he's still the way that a lot of
- 36:13drafts are now. You still can be bought in if
- 36:15you start for a long time or you sit around in college.
- 36:18Football. So where do you think he goes?
- 36:20Third round, I think Chambliss, I think he has enough talent.
- 36:24I'm obviously depend on the combine a lot too in his
- 36:26athletic grades where he still might fall to four or something
- 36:28like that if because of his size and maybe because of his speed.
- 36:31But I think he's proven enough with his traits.
- 36:33I think you're looking at a quarterback that could still
- 36:35play back is kind of the opposite we were seeing.
- 36:38We were talking about the batting guys too.
- 36:40We'll always see the deep ball out of Carson Beck.
- 36:41He finally showed in this game. He was able to sling at 53 yards
- 36:45on one of the touchdowns, got 33 on another and some other big
- 36:47plays and didn't rely on the yards after the catch.
- 36:50And Miami's defense got the big stops when they needed to.
- 36:52And Fletcher, like he was saying, did a really good job.
- 36:54He was the more consistent runner in that game, obviously
- 36:56with Lacey getting hurt, but that was enough for Miami to get
- 36:59the win and they win a high scoring game.
- 37:00Which that's the that's the only way Miami beats Indiana.
- 37:03They have to run the ball, they have to control the clock and
- 37:06they have to keep Mendoza off the field.
- 37:08That's the only way they beat the Hoosiers.
- 37:11I'm going to tell you this and and back and forth coaching.
- 37:14We all know who has the advantage after watching that
- 37:17Danny Atlanta game. But Jabba, your thought I'll get
- 37:19into the the Ducks and the Hoosiers because that game made
- 37:22me sick. No, I, I think you guys kind of
- 37:24touched on a lot of what I wanted to do.
- 37:27Like Carson Beck has been there. He he's seen how to win.
- 37:32I think with what Trinidad wanted to do and, and coming
- 37:36back and we'll we'll use what now college football is in NIL.
- 37:43Why do you think he wanted a sixth year?
- 37:45Because he's probably going to be a day three, but he can come
- 37:48back. He saw just what Soresby got
- 37:51from Cincinnati and $5 million from Texas Tech.
- 37:54Gets an extra year, gets to make NIL money, isn't going to get
- 37:59big money going day three, right?
- 38:02And, and just look at this like you look at Ben Rice, who's
- 38:07going to start first base for the New York Yankees.
- 38:09Soresby transferred in his fifth year, is making 5 million.
- 38:14Ben Rice is making $820,000. I thought why wouldn't you want
- 38:18that extra year and he knows that he's not going to be in
- 38:22this Class A day two guy, not a first round guy.
- 38:27So why do you think he wanted that extra year and why they put
- 38:31in There was 3 prospects of him putting in a waiver and they did
- 38:36it three times and they said no because that's the because he
- 38:40knew and he's going to be undersized.
- 38:43But Speedy brought something up where maybe he does go ball out
- 38:47in the combine, maybe his his IQ when he goes in and does all
- 38:52this stuff, but undersized and all the other things they're
- 38:55going to be like, well, we're not taking this guy.
- 38:56So I think that's the reason he wanted the extra year.
- 39:01But I, I just think the defense, what was the key of the game?
- 39:05And then Carson Beck knowing how to win and being able to lead at
- 39:09that point. And and we touched on it early
- 39:11in the shows, like having a leader that can win, understands
- 39:14how it's supposed to get done. And this dude 16 months ago,
- 39:18granted it was one of the best division twos, but he was the
- 39:21backup. And now he comes in, he wasn't
- 39:24even the starter at the beginning of the year and he got
- 39:26hurt and then became the starter in week 3.
- 39:28So it's just, I mean, it's happened fast, but he
- 39:32understands what he can do in college now with what he's done
- 39:35and and what colleges allowed them to do, why he wanted that
- 39:39other year because he knew he was going to be a day three guy.
- 39:42If he's a day three guy, he's going to want the money.
- 39:44But there's I read something that the state of Mississippi's
- 39:48going to try to file some kind of injunction on for a good old
- 39:52Ole Miss to be able to bring Chambliss back for one more
- 39:55year. I hope they do get him.
- 39:56It's a good story, but the the real story I thought of that
- 39:59game was the amount of first, second and third round picks on
- 40:03that Miami defense that was just balling out the entire game.
- 40:08Their coach is awesome. Mario Crystal Ball, if you you
- 40:11might remember him from Oregon. He's got big. 4 Dan Land.
- 40:14He's got big boobs, I can tell you that.
- 40:17Well, maybe. Maybe he's deflated in certain
- 40:20areas over the years and inflated in others.
- 40:23Did anybody see the memes all over social media?
- 40:27That was so funny, man. The everybody was throwing out
- 40:31memes of, you know, some of the pictures, him on the sidelines
- 40:34and then popping up and down. Dude, that was funny.
- 40:37How could you not laugh at that? I was laughing the whole time.
- 40:41And then when it was going on, while the game was going on and
- 40:44I was actually watching it, like in real life, I was like, holy
- 40:48crap, I never even noticed. And this guy wears these tight
- 40:50shirts. Like you can see what's going on
- 40:53over there. He's also a Sabin guy too.
- 40:56Yeah. Crystal Ball was a Sabin for
- 40:58years and in the in the before the game, you know, Pat McAfee
- 41:02and you know, game day, they had them talking with each other,
- 41:05just busting chops. And it's clear that you know,
- 41:09everyone that Saban's kind of been around has got a little bit
- 41:12of Pixie dust on them. He's starting with Kirby Smart
- 41:15and down that entire. Huge.
- 41:16Tree, it's something that we don't talk enough about.
- 41:18I think that just the massive impact that guy's had and you're
- 41:22seeing it all the way down to guys that are, you know, 20-30
- 41:25years younger all the way down to Dan Lanning and other guys.
- 41:28So it's real impressive what what he did over there.
- 41:31I just want to talk a little bit about Mesador because we talk
- 41:32about Bane a lot. Mesador is a little bigger guy.
- 41:35He's going to play inside more than Bain, but he can also rush
- 41:38the passer. Having the two of those guys
- 41:40rush from the same side of the line is unfair, Like it's
- 41:44completely unfair. But they also do things with
- 41:46Mesedore where they'll drop them back to an off ball linebacker
- 41:48and move them around the formation.
- 41:50So they're doing stuff on that defense that you really see only
- 41:53in pro defenses because they got guys that are going to be top 15
- 41:58picks on that defensive line as well as a couple of second and
- 42:01third round picks as well. I think it knows tackle and a
- 42:04couple of the other linebackers. All right, so I was waiting for
- 42:07this and I know all you who's your fans should be very
- 42:11excited. And and Mendoza threw 5
- 42:14touchdowns. Congratulations to him.
- 42:16He had 177 yards and I am butt hurt that he's not going to be a
- 42:19New York Jet. It doesn't seem like that's
- 42:21going to happen. OK, but for anybody to go after
- 42:25this kid, Dante Moore, and say that this guy is not going to be
- 42:29a good NFL quarterback, that's ridiculous.
- 42:31He was sacked 3 times. His offensive line was not
- 42:33protecting him. And I'll say this, the Hoosiers
- 42:36put a lot of pressure on him to make throws out of position, but
- 42:40the guy still had 285 yards. He still, he still threw 2
- 42:44passing touchdowns. He did throw 1 interception.
- 42:46And he couldn't run the ball because he was running for dear
- 42:49life because his offensive line didn't understand what they were
- 42:53doing in the game. I, I, I really think they were
- 42:55just hanging out needing some microwave steak because they
- 42:58didn't show up in that game. The fact here is organ, the game
- 43:04was over really before the half. You can see it.
- 43:07I was, I was watching a rodeo and I was watching the game on
- 43:11my phone. I was like, this game's over.
- 43:12There's no way Dante Moore can throw two or three touchdowns in
- 43:16this game and there's no way they're coming back.
- 43:18Because to me, Indiana has like some they're they're they're
- 43:23like, I don't even know what it says.
- 43:26It's like the Terminator. They're terminating opponents
- 43:29and they're making it look so damn easy.
- 43:32If they played the Buckeyes, they terminate them just as bad.
- 43:35It doesn't matter if it was Oregon or Oregon or it was Ohio
- 43:40State or it's going to be Miami and they're Miami is going to
- 43:43have to put up a great game plan if they're going to beat this
- 43:46team. Mendoza had a good game, but the
- 43:48story wasn't Mendoza. I, I think people don't
- 43:51understand the story was how dominant this Indiana Hoosiers
- 43:57offensive line is. This offensive line is beastly.
- 44:02Do you know how many times Mendoza got sacked in that game?
- 44:05This is a good Oregon defense, very good.
- 44:09They've got first round draft picks on this defense.
- 44:12They sacked him once. They sacked him one time.
- 44:18Think about that. That's how dominant the Hoosiers
- 44:22offensive line was. And think about this, the
- 44:25offensive line of the Hoosiers with these guys were guys that
- 44:29came from the portal. These guys weren't five star
- 44:32recruits, They weren't 4 star recruits.
- 44:35Some of them weren't even any star recruits.
- 44:38Think also the average age of the Hoosiers is 23.
- 44:41Yeah, I mean, we're talking about men.
- 44:44It's ridiculous. Did the Hoosiers, did they have
- 44:47a guy that had 100 yards? No, they spread out their
- 44:50running games. Black, Hemby, Martin, they all
- 44:54ran the ball and it equally one of them Black Blackett 63 yards,
- 44:58Hamby had 53 yards, Martin had 42 yards.
- 45:01They all touched the ball. Black was the important one.
- 45:04He's the one that ran in two touchdowns.
- 45:06But this defense has laid the smack if on every single team
- 45:12they've played and it doesn't matter who they match up
- 45:15against. And again, Miami's going to have
- 45:17to have a good game plan against this offensive line because as
- 45:20good as Bain is in this front 7 has been throughout this
- 45:24tournament in the second-half of the the college football season,
- 45:28I don't know if they're going to touch Mendoza enough where he is
- 45:32going to fall off his sweet spot, where he's going to feel
- 45:35he's going to have to do something that he's
- 45:37uncomfortable to do. Mendoza was standing firm in the
- 45:40pocket. If you watch Dante, Dante Moore,
- 45:43he was running for dear life, dear life.
- 45:47And for anybody to say that Dante Moore isn't a first round
- 45:50talent and he's not going to be a good quarterback, then guys,
- 45:53you don't know what you're watching.
- 45:54This guys got all the ability in the world.
- 45:57He can move inside and out of the pocket, can make every
- 45:59single throw. He's got the speed.
- 46:01Unfortunately, ladies and gentlemen, I don't believe Dan
- 46:05Lanning was up for a Signetti. I, I you, you've seen it.
- 46:09Signetti has been the best coach in the country for two years.
- 46:13Dan Lanning, who has spoke very highly at the end of the game
- 46:18about what he thinks Signetti is and how how great of a coach he
- 46:21is. Before the game he was taking
- 46:23shots at him and saying that where you, you came from, James
- 46:26Madison and all this other stuff.
- 46:28So Dan Lanning obviously had a lot to chew at the end of the
- 46:32game, but it wasn't chewing a trophy or a a imagining winning
- 46:38a national champion trophy. It was chewing his pride because
- 46:42his pride is what sent him down and sent him down far.
- 46:46So Dan Lanning, I love you still, man.
- 46:48I, I root for you every single time you get you, you go as far
- 46:52as you do in these tournaments and everyone, everything that
- 46:54you do, but you got out coached outclassed and, and honestly, I,
- 47:01I mean, there's nothing more to say.
- 47:03I, I, it was a battle of 1 coach to the other coach Mendoza,
- 47:08congratulations to him. But did he have the he was 17
- 47:12for 20. He threw the ball 20 times.
- 47:14OK, it, it's, it's really just he didn't really have to do
- 47:18much. He didn't have to do much.
- 47:20Yeah, there was also a difference in the yardage.
- 47:22Split wasn't even that great either.
- 47:23Like it was just Oregon's turnovers or just that much all
- 47:26at once, which I think hurt. And you're right, the offensive
- 47:29line had a lot to do with it, too.
- 47:30They were awesome. They the Indiana.
- 47:32I'm talking about Oregon's offensive line being horrible
- 47:34too, no? No, no, I said that too, but
- 47:36Indiana's offensive line was awesome.
- 47:40And them winning the trenches that significantly was something
- 47:44that I wouldn't have thought like that big of a gap.
- 47:47I had Oregon winning the game because I thought they're more
- 47:48well-rounded team. I thought Indiana, we have to
- 47:50see how that defense would have been against a more well-rounded
- 47:53I, I guess. You like that word?
- 47:54Well-rounded. Yeah, because Oregon's offense
- 47:57brought a lot events. You talk about the three running
- 47:59backs last week and none of them were really that effective in
- 48:01that game because of the way this offensive line has been.
- 48:03Oregon's been a factory of developing offensive line even
- 48:05before Landing was there with Cristobal and with all their
- 48:07other coaches have been a factory of offensive lineman and
- 48:10a factory of running backs as a result of that.
- 48:12But they did not have anything in this game.
- 48:15That and then Indiana running the ball to 175 yards after they
- 48:19ran for 189. Against Alabama and shutting
- 48:22down Sodic, who's been as good a tight end in the nation,
- 48:27probably the best tight end in the nation the last couple of
- 48:29weeks, and shutting him down. No team has shut him down the
- 48:32way the Hoosier shut him down in this game. 5 receptions for 29
- 48:38yards. Think about that.
- 48:39And we've seen this pattern a lot, I think with Oregon to like
- 48:43sometimes these second second time around or these games later
- 48:47in the season, they either go to 1 tendency too much or they just
- 48:51aren't prepared as much. We saw them in the PAC 12
- 48:53championship. I think the last year Herbert
- 48:54was there, they lost to Utah. Kyle Whittingham just got hired
- 48:57by Michigan, an experienced coach.
- 48:59Sometimes I think they buy into their talent too much.
- 49:01Now, I'm not saying Signetti is definitively signetti is
- 49:04definitively better than landing like I don't think it's a big
- 49:07gap, but I think he's a better enough where that extra prep.
- 49:10I even the week before that, maybe they were already
- 49:12thinking, all right, we're going to prepare for this kind of
- 49:14tendency. Indiana takes away your best
- 49:16things and then you have to adjust accordingly.
- 49:18And I don't think Moore was ready for that kind of thing.
- 49:19He was really one read a lot of the time and the offensive like
- 49:23definitely wasn't ready for that kind of thing.
- 49:24And Oregon defense, which there were some questions because of
- 49:27who they played on their schedule, and I think it finally
- 49:29got exposed in this game. Are you going to play Dante
- 49:31Moore? Have you made it seem like in
- 49:34this, this presentation of monologue, this, this guy's a
- 49:38failure? That's what it seems like if
- 49:41I'm. Well I'm was part of the reason
- 49:42they lost the game. He throws a pick 6 on the first
- 49:44play of the game. He puts you right.
- 49:46That's not the reason why they lost the game.
- 49:48The offense that's not but. The thing is, they were down 42
- 49:51to 7 in this game to court. All of his yards were in garbage
- 49:54time. He was a disaster because they
- 49:57came up with a game plan that would stop him.
- 49:59What do they do? Make it so they can't run the
- 50:01football, add extra lineman into the box, put a five man front up
- 50:05there and make it so that they can't do it.
- 50:07So then what is? The box more in this game than
- 50:11they've done all year. Because that's what Oregon did
- 50:14best. It's it's the old Belichick
- 50:16strategy, which he taught Saban, which by the way, Kurt Signetti,
- 50:20where did he start with Sabin as his recruiter when he first got
- 50:25to Alabama? Who's responsible for Julio
- 50:28Jones playing at Alabama? Kurt Signetti, Mark Ingram
- 50:31playing at Alabama, Kurt Signetti.
- 50:33And then he left famously to bet on himself and Sabin told him
- 50:38not to. Is the story that we've been
- 50:40here in the last couple of weeks and obviously look at him now.
- 50:44And he came up with this game plan that shut down Dante Moore.
- 50:47They put some trap coverages. You're right, Speed.
- 50:49He's a one read type of guy. So that's easy to coach against
- 50:52if you're going to make him throw too much.
- 50:54And they got him to turn the ball over.
- 50:56And it's not really his fault they so Chris.
- 51:00Why do you think some guys still have Dante Moore projected over
- 51:04Mendoza? So I don't think they do
- 51:06anymore, but I don't think they're going to anymore because
- 51:09Mendoza's had like 5 incompletions and sick and like
- 51:138 touchdowns in the last two games.
- 51:16He's also only thrown crazy. He's also only thrown 20 passes
- 51:20in. Every single one.
- 51:21But he's come out in the third quarter of both games.
- 51:23He's been. He's only had to play 3/4 of the
- 51:25game. You project it out.
- 51:26He's had regular stats. Because the Hoosiers have been
- 51:29flat out the best. Team in Errol, he's got perfect
- 51:31passer. I like, I'm not taking shots at
- 51:33Mendoza, but to sit here and say, well, he's flat out that
- 51:36much better than Dante Moore. If you throw 17 passes.
- 51:40Three are incomplete and fair. If Dante Moore If Dante Moore
- 51:44was playing for the Hoosiers, he would win, too.
- 51:46He would have want to. I mean, you could.
- 51:48He would, absolutely. Dominate it.
- 51:50I mean, we're going to find out when they both get to the NFL
- 51:53because you know, they're both going to play in this league.
- 51:55It's ridiculous. I don't think.
- 51:56We saw. I'm sorry I missed that.
- 51:59Last, I don't think Dante's coming out.
- 52:01That's what I'm hearing. Well, if he doesn't, I think
- 52:03it's a mistake because they and we're going to talk about in the
- 52:05sports minute later, Jabba, your boy just transferred to Oregon
- 52:09many more rooms. So I have a feeling they think
- 52:12he's coming out or else they wouldn't have spent the probably
- 52:15$3,000,000 plus on dominant on. Well, he was, he was getting, he
- 52:19was getting 2.8 here. Yeah, so I would bet it's closer
- 52:23to 4. They're not going to pay more
- 52:25and and Rayola at the same. Time don't tell guy to pay him
- 52:27something under the table too. You, you got to come out.
- 52:30If you're top two pick, I don't care.
- 52:32You know, if if you're, you would do better.
- 52:34Like Zach Wilson would have done better if he stayed another
- 52:37year. Like Sam Darnold would have
- 52:38stayed better if he did another year.
- 52:40Mark Sanchez. And guess who's picking #2 just
- 52:43like those 3. Teams, I'm not upset about it if
- 52:45The Jets draft Dante Moore, good because I.
- 52:48Think you want to start them the first?
- 52:49And I'm not going to they're not going to Moji will not do that.
- 52:54So I I've, I've seen this enough.
- 52:56I think Moji, if they draft Dante Moore, he's he's riding
- 53:00the bench for at least six to seven.
- 53:02Weeks, I think this game showed you that he should.
- 53:04It's not that he's not competent.
- 53:06Like his end numbers were fine and he's going to be OK in the
- 53:09long run. He's going to be right now when
- 53:11they took the runaway, he's going to get a lot better.
- 53:14But when they took the run away, he didn't really have the
- 53:15answers right. And you need to have those
- 53:18answers when you're playing in the NFL or they're going to just
- 53:20kill you. They're going to come up with
- 53:21this game plan every time. You're going to have eight or
- 53:23nine guys in the box, they're going to play cover four so the
- 53:26safeties can play up and their first steps are going to be for
- 53:28run. And you're not going to be able
- 53:30to beat people on like 5 play actions, you know, hoping to
- 53:34trick people all game. That's just how it is.
- 53:36But I mean, look what I think before we finish this.
- 53:40What Cignetti's doing is legendary.
- 53:42If they do this and they, I mean, I mean undefeated and
- 53:50killing everybody. I mean, I don't think anyone
- 53:52thinks Miami's. As good as Oregon?
- 53:55Maybe they are, but I don't think they're much better.
- 53:57So if they're not much better, how are they going to do much
- 54:00better than Oregon did? It's really fascinating.
- 54:02I think Crystal Ball's the right coach to figure it out because
- 54:05he's a great seems to be a tactician.
- 54:07Again, both saving guys. It should be an awesome game on
- 54:11Monday. I will say this for anybody that
- 54:17sitting here as a Jet fan, I wouldn't be upset if Dante Moore
- 54:20becomes a Jet. I'm just letting you guys know
- 54:22this, but The Jets have to be smart with Dante Moore.
- 54:24They have to understand that this kid needs to ride the bench
- 54:28for at least five to six weeks, maybe 7 weeks to understand the
- 54:31speed of the game. I think the kid and Speedy is
- 54:33Speedy watches college football just as much as anybody.
- 54:36He told me even before this game, Dante Moore has a
- 54:39tremendous amount of upside. This guy can throw Ron, do
- 54:43everything, has the best arm in this draft class.
- 54:46It's not even an argument, but speedy, Speedy, would you take
- 54:49Dante Moore over Mendoza? I like him more.
- 54:53Yeah, I do like him more. If you sit him on the.
- 54:55Best, but you have to probably sit him at least until like week
- 54:5810, something like that before you can throw him into the fire,
- 55:01especially if you're a team like the Raiders or The Jets, that
- 55:04Jets of Garrett Wilson, the Raiders of Brock Bowers, like 1
- 55:07elite skill player and that's it a.
- 55:10Lot of teams only have one. I know if you're drafting that
- 55:13low, you're generally going to be stuck in that kind of
- 55:15circumstance anyway. You just have an underwhelming
- 55:19defense. And all who do you, who do you
- 55:20think's upside is bigger, more, more, 100% more?
- 55:23And I'm not saying that. Because Jonas is more ready now.
- 55:26Like he could. He could start in week 1, most
- 55:28likely more. Look, it's the Tulsi guy versus
- 55:32the guy who's accurate. That's that's this discussion.
- 55:35We have it every time. But who went first?
- 55:38A number of years ago, Baker Mayfield was the accurate guy.
- 55:40They took him and and Josh Allen was the toolsy guy and he went
- 55:457th in that draft. If you do it again, I don't
- 55:48think anyone's taking Baker Mayfield ahead of Josh Allen.
- 55:51So that's why you always look at and you want to project forward.
- 55:54Sure, Mendoza certainly better right now, but going forwards
- 55:58with equal coaching, you know, the coaching, you know, I think
- 56:02there's huge advantage he has with this coaching staff in the
- 56:05college game. He's being set up for absolute
- 56:08success. If he plays for the Raiders of
- 56:10The Jets, he will not be set up for absolute success.
- 56:14Well, I could say that, but hold on.
- 56:16I think that's something we touched on earlier and I don't
- 56:18remember who it was that was talking about the combine, but
- 56:22Josh Allen got recognized through the combine, yes, at
- 56:26Wyoming, but Josh Allen got recognized for the tools he got
- 56:29because of what he did at the combine.
- 56:33Do you think that like when they when they go and show that part
- 56:38of it and see what Mendoza does compared to Dante Moore, because
- 56:44that's kind of the conversation right now.
- 56:45Who who's going to be that 10? The conversation is Tom Brady is
- 56:49what Tom Brady thinks is going to be the guy for the future for
- 56:53this organization. If Tom Brady thinks Mendoza is
- 56:56the guy, he's the pocket present quarterback, which is probably
- 56:59where they're going to go. Tom might be wrong.
- 57:01I've seen a lot of great, a great big time superstar players
- 57:05become executives. Hey, Michael Jordan, remember
- 57:08Kwame Brown, Remember that pick was one of the worst picks in
- 57:11NBA history. He thought the high school kid
- 57:14and Kwame Brown was going to be a star, and he was an absolute
- 57:18smack in the face to Michael Jordan.
- 57:20That ruined Michael Jordan. Anything that anybody thought
- 57:23Michael Jordan was going to be as an executive that ruined him
- 57:26because Kwame Brown will always be remembered as Michael
- 57:28Jordan's first 1st pick and he was the number one pick and he
- 57:33was an absolute bloodshed. So I, I'm not saying that Tom
- 57:36Brady's going to get it wrong. I think both these guys could be
- 57:39good as and I like Mendoza, I think he fit here very well in
- 57:43New York and Dante Moore already came out that he, he's unsure
- 57:46about playing in New York. So and that's fine if he says
- 57:50that, but you want to know something.
- 57:52You don't go out there when you know The Jets are set drafting
- 57:55too, because what is that spell to you when you go at the
- 57:58combine and they're interviewing you or anybody's interview?
- 58:01You think it's going to be better if you go to one of these
- 58:03other bad teams? If you went to the Saints, you
- 58:06think that's going to be better Arizona or Arizona, it's not
- 58:09going to make it any better. You know you're going to go to a
- 58:12bad team. A-Team that's rebuilding The
- 58:14Giants right now, a fifth, the Giants, they think that, quote
- 58:17UN quote, the Giants have a quarterback.
- 58:19Well, only time will tell. Whoever they bring in, that's
- 58:22going to develop him even more because Dabel as good as Dabel
- 58:25was the quarterback whisperer. He had his ups and downs at
- 58:29developing a guy like Jackson Dart.
- 58:31Jackson Dart has God-given talent.
- 58:34He looks like he works very well in New York because he loves it
- 58:37here and he loves the fan base. But that doesn't mean that it's
- 58:40going he's going to take his second year to that next.
- 58:44You know that that next floor that you need to take.
- 58:46I don't know if Jackson Dart's going to get there.
- 58:48Only time will tell. And the court, the coach they
- 58:51bring in or offensive coordinator they bring in to
- 58:53help develop him. So and.
- 58:55That's what it should be with the Raiders, too.
- 58:56Except. With the Raiders, absolutely.
- 58:58If I was Mendoza, If I was Mendoza, I want to be a Jet.
- 59:02And I'm just speaking the truth, not because I'm a Jet fan.
- 59:05If I'm Mendoza, I'm staying far, far away from the Raiders
- 59:08because the Raiders organization, they are the
- 59:11worst. As bad as The Jets have been,
- 59:13and they haven't gone to the playoffs in 15 years, they are
- 59:16the worst organ. They're so cheap.
- 59:18The owner, he, he was nickel and diming.
- 59:21That's why he went to Vegas. He didn't buy the state.
- 59:23He didn't. He didn't pay for the stadium.
- 59:25He had taxpayer dollars pay for the stadium.
- 59:28And who knows what other kind of gambling money might be
- 59:30involved? He has to.
- 59:30He had to sell a piece of the team to Tom Brady, 10% and other
- 59:35guys because he couldn't afford it.
- 59:36You want to go to that organization, please.
- 59:39And as bad as Woody Johnson. Is, and I'm fine with Brady
- 59:42having some say in the quarterback thing, but if you
- 59:44hire an offensive minded head coach and GM that's a little
- 59:48more of a a mindset like a modern era football type, they
- 59:51should still have more than Brady does.
- 59:52So they can't just, like, reach on a quarterback or take the
- 59:54wrong guy just because Brady prefers them, too.
- 59:57I think that's what's going to happen though, because Brady's
- 59:59going to pick the coach and the coach is going to be picked
- 1:00:01based on their shared vision for who they're picking at #1.
- 1:00:04And you know where I think they should go, right?
- 1:00:06I think if I was the Raiders right now, if they want Mendoza,
- 1:00:10go after Signetti, pay him whatever he wants.
- 1:00:12That's a fascinating idea. And I think, look, if they if
- 1:00:16they do complete this, what else does he have to prove at the
- 1:00:19college level? You know what I mean?
- 1:00:21He just had the greatest possible season you could
- 1:00:23possibly have, right? If they do pull this off.
- 1:00:27So then what's left to prove? Go to the next level.
- 1:00:29I I kind of feel like the guy's kind of like that, but he's been
- 1:00:32in the college game his whole career.
- 1:00:33Guys don't just jump at age 62 away from the league, the league
- 1:00:37they've been in their whole life.
- 1:00:38But either way, I can't wait to watch it.
- 1:00:41I hope we see this coronation of this great of this great
- 1:00:45franchise of that came out of nowhere.
- 1:00:47That was the losing, losing a school in the Big 10 and now in
- 1:00:52the last two years they completely turned around with a
- 1:00:54coach out of nowhere. It's such an awesome story.
- 1:00:57Or very much like how the Giants upset the Patriots way back in
- 1:01:02after the 22,007 season going 18 and one.
- 1:01:05This one would be 15 and one. It would be quite the win for
- 1:01:08Mario Cristobal. Over there.
- 1:01:11It's going to be fun to watch. And again, Jet fans, if if
- 1:01:14you're upset, if they get Dante Moore, don't be upset.
- 1:01:17You're getting your the, The Jets will get a great young
- 1:01:21quarterback if they develop him right.
- 1:01:24Let him sit, let him learn, let him understand the lingo.
- 1:01:27Because if you go in there and you put him in in harm's way, as
- 1:01:30we've seen over the years, Browning, Nagel, I mean, we
- 1:01:34Christian Hackenberg, I mean Geno Smith, even guys like Sam
- 1:01:40Darnold, let him sit, let him learn, let him figure out the
- 1:01:42playbook. And then when he understands,
- 1:01:45you put him out there and let him finish the season on a high
- 1:01:48note and then go into next year knowing that you know what you
- 1:01:52need to go after to, to be a contender.
- 1:01:54So that's the way I would go. Don't, don't go, don't go
- 1:01:58jumping off a bridge because they get Dante Moore.
- 1:02:00I think Dante Moore's a slam dunk just as much as Mendoza.
- 1:02:03Just you're going to have to, Mendoza's going to start no
- 1:02:07matter what right away. Dante is not, he's not ready to
- 1:02:10do that. So that's all I'm going to say
- 1:02:12about that just because we saw him at the event a couple weeks
- 1:02:15ago. You ever when Kyle Carroll said
- 1:02:17that the Jetson draft a quarterback in 2018 against
- 1:02:20Christian Hackenberg. More of a chance, please.
- 1:02:22And by the way, he's laughing to the bank because his.
- 1:02:25Casey his Kansas City Chiefs at the time was so bad I remember
- 1:02:29and now they get Patrick Mahomes and it changed their fortunes.
- 1:02:32They added Andy Ray to change their fortune.
- 1:02:34So I love cotton. I'm me and Kyle made-up so I
- 1:02:37love you Kyle. I know good seeing him again.
- 1:02:38Yes, it was. He lost a lot of weight.
- 1:02:40Very. Very happy he's.
- 1:02:41Coaching freshman. The freshman team over there,
- 1:02:45how do you pronounce this Chaminade?
- 1:02:47Chaminade so. Very good high.
