- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back to sec football addiction presented by prize picks
- 0:03Speaker 1: all new users there get 150 instantly when they win
- 0:06Speaker 1: their first five dollar lineup using code hma blake rufino
- 0:10Speaker 1: ays sports the rufino and joe show my favorite national
- 0:14Speaker 1: show that you will find anywhere go check that out
- 0:17Speaker 1: as the season is getting underway here in just a
- 0:19Speaker 1: couple of days blake a lot of people not happy
- 0:22Speaker 1: with lsu and uh such as life, right? Like that's
- 0:26Speaker 1: just been the theme since November.
- 0:28Speaker 2: I saw your show the other day.
- 0:29Speaker 1: But I do, I do understand people's gripe here and
- 0:33Speaker 1: I want to kind of get you on to talk
- 0:34Speaker 1: about the, the situation unfolding with not only a tight end,
- 0:41Speaker 1: but now it looks like a defensive lineman kind of
- 0:43Speaker 1: coming back from the NFL and preseason to LSU. I
- 0:48Speaker 1: think this is a difficult situation and I'll shut up
- 0:50Speaker 1: here and let you talk, but I think it's a
- 0:52Speaker 1: difficult situation because we all understand the 22 class should
- 0:55Speaker 1: have been grandfathered in, but I understand people's frustration with
- 0:59Speaker 1: the appearance of where things are right now and just
- 1:02Speaker 1: the craziness of this sport. And I also understand that
- 1:05Speaker 1: anytime they can take shots at LSU, they want to
- 1:06Speaker 1: do that too.
- 1:07Speaker 2: So I get all sides, but want to hear you
- 1:09Speaker 2: out on it.
- 1:11Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know really where to start other
- 1:13Speaker 3: than the NCAA situation of being advised to, you know,
- 1:19Speaker 3: the NCAA was advised to wait until the season started
- 1:22Speaker 3: to adopt the five for five. Well, you have three
- 1:24Speaker 3: politicians that don't know the legal ramifications of what that
- 1:28Speaker 3: they were going to do. So the NCAA, what did
- 1:32Speaker 3: you think was going to happen when you told the
- 1:33Speaker 3: 2022 class they couldn't be involved?
- 1:36Speaker 2: What did you expect?
- 1:38Speaker 3: Now, TJ, as we're talking, The Big Ten has come
- 1:40Speaker 3: out with a statement.
- 1:41Speaker 2: The SEC meets again today.
- 1:42Speaker 3: The ACC, you know, the ACC, the Big 12 all
- 1:47Speaker 3: will meet to quote unquote band. They're not pro players.
- 1:52Speaker 3: I mean, they've been cut, I guess, but they are
- 1:54Speaker 3: in some regards. I guess my question is, who are
- 1:58Speaker 3: you really wanting to blame? Because I do think Lane
- 2:01Speaker 3: and LSU are taking majority of the blame here. for
- 2:05Speaker 3: bringing in two players. I ask, what about Texas, who
- 2:08Speaker 3: brought in a starting offensive lineman? I ask about UCLA,
- 2:12Speaker 3: who brought in a linebacker. So as the Big Ten
- 2:15Speaker 3: announces that no former pro player can do this, UCLA
- 2:18Speaker 3: now has a starting linebacker from James Madison.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Is he eligible?
- 2:22Speaker 3: Indiana brought back two starters that were going to be
- 2:25Speaker 3: 24 years old, and then they got ruled ineligible, and
- 2:28Speaker 3: now they're trying to sue to become eligible. So again, LSU,
- 2:33Speaker 3: I feel like TJ is just taking the brunt of
- 2:35Speaker 3: this because people don't like LSU right now and they
- 2:37Speaker 3: don't like Lane. Where's the energy for the other 45
- 2:40Speaker 3: players that are part of these lawsuits?
- 2:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I, I think it's tough because I think people
- 2:47Speaker 1: can objectively say like, Hey, I don't like the way
- 2:50Speaker 1: that this looks, but when it is a, a Lane
- 2:54Speaker 1: Kiffin situation and the vitriol is the right word.
- 2:58Speaker 3: I mean, you catch it more than, more than I see,
- 3:00Speaker 3: but I do think people do it. Sending super chats,
- 3:04Speaker 3: calling me fat back and sending Lane.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Kevin is a disruptor, right?
- 3:09Speaker 1: And Newberg used to talk about this and people, certain
- 3:12Speaker 1: people get in places and they're disruptors.
- 3:14Speaker 2: And I don't mean that as a bad way. I
- 3:16Speaker 2: think Texas tech is a disruptor, right?
- 3:18Speaker 1: Like they are disrupting the norms of our sport. And Lane,
- 3:22Speaker 1: Kevin kind of does that to an extent to not
- 3:24Speaker 1: in a bad way. I'm not saying that it's bad to,
- 3:27Speaker 1: I mean, Kurt Cignetti is a disruptor in our sport
- 3:30Speaker 1: based on what he's done the last two years. And
- 3:32Speaker 1: so I think when people, when the norms get challenged,
- 3:36Speaker 1: people are very quick to.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Say, oh, that's not the way we like it, right?
- 3:39Speaker 1: We like Alabama and we like Georgia and we like
- 3:42Speaker 1: Ohio State and we like Notre Dame to some extent
- 3:45Speaker 1: and the powers that be.
- 3:46Speaker 2: When there are shifting forces, I think people.
- 3:49Speaker 1: are quick to be reluctant to that, whether it's Indiana
- 3:52Speaker 1: or Texas Tech or whatever. I think with LSU, you
- 3:56Speaker 1: add in the Lane Kiffin factor and it takes us
- 3:58Speaker 1: to another level. Had this been Georgia, I think people
- 4:01Speaker 1: would still be upset. I don't know if they would
- 4:03Speaker 1: be upset to the level that they are. And I
- 4:05Speaker 1: think that's fair. I think people can take a hard
- 4:08Speaker 1: line stance and say, you know, similar to Sorsby, right?
- 4:12Speaker 1: Everyone agreed that Sorsby shouldn't play, but because it was
- 4:15Speaker 1: Texas tech and because how loud their boosters have been and,
- 4:18Speaker 1: and the way that they've disrupted the sport, it made
- 4:21Speaker 1: it so much worse. Had it been Utah, had it
- 4:23Speaker 1: been Cincinnati, which I guess he wasn't Cincinnati, but had
- 4:26Speaker 1: it been somebody else, people would have still been upset,
- 4:28Speaker 1: but maybe not to the same level.
- 4:30Speaker 2: And I do agree. It's very easy to blame lane.
- 4:33Speaker 1: And it's very easy to point the finger at the
- 4:35Speaker 1: sec and say, they need to do something or LSU
- 4:38Speaker 1: is doing this or doing that. And the blame really
- 4:41Speaker 1: belongs with the NCAA. You talked about them not including
- 4:44Speaker 1: the 2022 class. I mean, Bud Elliott of Cover 3
- 4:48Speaker 1: thinks that that was intentional so that it would get
- 4:51Speaker 1: a little bit more crazy.
- 4:53Speaker 2: I massively disagree with that.
- 4:56Speaker 3: You mean to tell me that they wanted to get
- 4:58Speaker 3: sued 67 times and it was intentional? I don't buy
- 5:02Speaker 3: that because the Chambliss thing happened as well. TJ, I'm
- 5:06Speaker 3: sorry to interrupt you, but I don't buy, and I
- 5:09Speaker 3: like Bud a lot, but I don't buy that. No,
- 5:13Speaker 3: what happened was is that they did not know the ramifications.
- 5:16Speaker 3: They admitted in open court, literally in a state of
- 5:22Speaker 3: Louisiana when me and Matt Zenitz reported this, they didn't know, TJ.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Right? I mean, you want me to hit the button
- 5:30Speaker 2: and say sources? Sources. They didn't know.
- 5:33Speaker 3: So, again, that's not necessarily the truth because here's what's
- 5:38Speaker 3: going to happen with that. The conferences are now going
- 5:41Speaker 3: to take rule and enact their own rules. That gives
- 5:45Speaker 3: the NCAA less power. So why would they do that intentionally?
- 5:49Speaker 3: I don't agree with that, nor do I buy that.
- 5:53Speaker 3: But let me ask this question. TJ, who started this?
- 5:57Speaker 3: Meaning bringing back players.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Who started this, this go around?
- 6:03Speaker 2: Because it's not LSU, it's Indiana. Yeah. So Indiana brought
- 6:07Speaker 2: in two starters.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Who, by the way, Lewis Murphy had a PBU against
- 6:12Speaker 3: Carson Beck in the national championship game.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Okay. He's 25 years old.
- 6:18Speaker 3: I mean, Trinidad Chambliss had an attorney, I mean, a judge,
- 6:23Speaker 3: excuse me, who is a booster of Ole Miss.
- 6:25Speaker 2: So let me just understand all of this.
- 6:29Speaker 3: You're okay with the NCAA not godfathering in the 2022 class,
- 6:34Speaker 3: and you're okay with Trinidad Chambliss. You're okay with Daly.
- 6:38Speaker 3: But then if a specific school does it, this is
- 6:41Speaker 3: different than Brendan Sorsby.
- 6:42Speaker 2: He cheated.
- 6:43Speaker 3: He had inside knowledge. OK, about a situation and bet
- 6:48Speaker 3: against his team. He bet against them. So I also
- 6:52Speaker 3: think that it's just a lazy argument to say, hey,
- 6:56Speaker 3: these kids sued and they won. TJ, I think the
- 6:59Speaker 3: SEC and Big Ten and other conferences are going to
- 7:02Speaker 3: rule that these guys can't play. I mean, I know
- 7:04Speaker 3: the Big Ten has already done it as we are
- 7:05Speaker 3: currently speaking.
- 7:07Speaker 2: What happens if they're sued? And I think they will be.
- 7:10Speaker 2: I mean, I absolutely, I mean, if you, if you're
- 7:13Speaker 2: willing to.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Well, the TRO does state that they, that the conferences
- 7:17Speaker 3: can't do anything anyway.
- 7:18Speaker 2: So good luck.
- 7:20Speaker 1: I'll get right back to chatting with Blake, but first
- 7:22Speaker 1: I want to give some love to our friends over
- 7:23Speaker 1: at alumni hall. Make sure that you do our shopping
- 7:25Speaker 1: at alumni hall.com or in store.com. And using our code, CFA15,
- 7:29Speaker 1: you get 15% off of your order. Doesn't sign you
- 7:31Speaker 1: up for anything. It's not a subscription. It's not a
- 7:33Speaker 1: monthly fee. Just save some money using our code, CFA15.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Alumni Hall has the biggest and best selection of game
- 7:39Speaker 1: day apparel anywhere in the country, and you should be
- 7:42Speaker 1: shopping with them. If you haven't geared up for the
- 7:44Speaker 1: big game against Clemson, make sure that you do so
- 7:47Speaker 1: at Alumni Hall. Again, online or in-store, CFA15 works great.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Now back to Blake.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Yeah, they are, again, the blame... the blame squarely to
- 7:58Speaker 1: me falls on the NCAA. Like we, you know, it
- 8:01Speaker 1: made no sense for the 2022 class to not be
- 8:05Speaker 1: included in this. And I thought lane who I know
- 8:08Speaker 1: people will, again, we'll get on lane for the different
- 8:09Speaker 1: things he says. I thought his explanation was about as
- 8:13Speaker 1: straightforward as you could get.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Like I, people liked it. Oh, he's dodgy. Or he
- 8:17Speaker 2: says this, or he doesn't admit to this or whatever.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Like fine.
- 8:21Speaker 1: I thought his answer was about as straightforward as it
- 8:23Speaker 1: could get. He says it's ridiculous that they weren't included
- 8:25Speaker 1: in it anyway. Had they known about it back in
- 8:28Speaker 1: the time, you know, this would be their fifth year. Like,
- 8:31Speaker 1: it doesn't make any sense. We're not asking about 2018 kids.
- 8:35Speaker 1: We're not asking about a ninth year senior. We're talking
- 8:37Speaker 1: about guys that would have been eligible, would have had
- 8:40Speaker 1: a decision to make. And so I get it from
- 8:42Speaker 1: the player's perspective. I saw what you said on AYS.
- 8:45Speaker 1: You guys all, I mean, for LSU fans that were complaining,
- 8:48Speaker 1: you guys all complained that Brian Kelly wasn't doing everything
- 8:50Speaker 1: he could to win. There's a loophole here. And whether
- 8:54Speaker 1: you like it or not, Lane's taking advantage of it.
- 8:56Speaker 1: And it looks like we'll take advantage of it, too.
- 8:58Speaker 1: And LSU is trying to win. Now, if a judge
- 9:02Speaker 1: went the other way and said, look, we're going to then. Yeah,
- 9:05Speaker 1: then Lane wouldn't do it right at the loophole no
- 9:07Speaker 1: longer existed. I don't think he's trying to necessarily cheat,
- 9:11Speaker 1: just like the the old the faking injuries thing. There
- 9:15Speaker 1: was a loophole that existed, and you were able to
- 9:17Speaker 1: get a competitive advantage. I get it from LSU's perspective.
- 9:21Speaker 1: I get it for the player. Yeah, I would absolutely
- 9:24Speaker 1: go back to college for.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Another year if I wasn't going to make an NFL roster.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Why wouldn't you?
- 9:28Speaker 3: What's going to happen when these players can prove that
- 9:30Speaker 3: they're going to make more money in college when the
- 9:33Speaker 3: NCAA didn't grandfather in a rule because the SEC accepted
- 9:36Speaker 3: the rule as well?
- 9:38Speaker 2: Again, what's going to happen if they sue?
- 9:40Speaker 3: Here is my worry if I do have a worry
- 9:42Speaker 3: from the LSU side of things, T.J., Does the SEC
- 9:45Speaker 3: take this out on LSU from a penalty standpoint? Do
- 9:49Speaker 3: they throw egregious penalties and throw flags and purposely throw
- 9:53Speaker 3: games for them?
- 9:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I think the the, the, the situation is I,
- 9:58Speaker 1: I mean, the say the SEC comes out and mirrors
- 10:02Speaker 1: the big 10, which maybe we should both keep Twitter
- 10:04Speaker 1: up to, to see how this happens.
- 10:07Speaker 3: That's why every notification I'm looking down, this will happen.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Like as we're freaking recording. Um, let's say they do that.
- 10:15Speaker 1: The player will sue and the player will probably win,
- 10:18Speaker 1: but then the sec can certainly say, okay, well, yeah,
- 10:20Speaker 1: we can't tell the player that he can't play, but
- 10:22Speaker 1: if you play this player, we're going to penalize the school,
- 10:25Speaker 1: whether that be fines or whether that be, you know,
- 10:28Speaker 1: a ban from the sec champion, who knows, right?
- 10:31Speaker 2: Like, well, who knows what the actual penalty would be,
- 10:33Speaker 2: but I think that's.
- 10:34Speaker 1: What the sec would say is, okay, well then you
- 10:37Speaker 1: need to make a decision LSU or anyone else that's
- 10:41Speaker 1: going to try and do this.
- 10:42Speaker 2: If you do it, the player can play.
- 10:43Speaker 1: We can't stop you from playing because the judges said that,
- 10:46Speaker 1: but now, now we'll penalize the school. And I don't
- 10:49Speaker 1: know if they would do that or not. I, I
- 10:52Speaker 1: would think that it's probably a coin flip. but I'll
- 10:55Speaker 1: tell you this. I'll tell you something that does annoy me.
- 10:57Speaker 1: And this has nothing to do with LSU. It's just
- 10:59Speaker 1: the same situation.
- 11:01Speaker 2: It annoys me.
- 11:03Speaker 1: That right is going to probably play this year and
- 11:06Speaker 1: probably play all 12 games. If not more, if, if
- 11:08Speaker 1: LSU qualifies for more than, you know, 12 games, I,
- 11:11Speaker 1: I am annoyed that Tennessee's best linebacker is sitting out
- 11:14Speaker 1: the first two games for taking a $ 400 flight. I
- 11:17Speaker 1: think that we need, and I do think people also
- 11:20Speaker 1: look at this situation and say, okay, where's the common
- 11:24Speaker 1: sense here where, and this is not LSU's fault that
- 11:27Speaker 1: he is sitting out those first two games. And I
- 11:28Speaker 1: have no clue why Tennessee hasn't sued for this, because
- 11:32Speaker 1: I feel like that's a slam dunk. We got guys
- 11:34Speaker 1: that got sacks in the NFL that are going to
- 11:36Speaker 1: come back and play in college. Why has Tennessee not
- 11:38Speaker 1: sued for this? I have no clue, but it annoys
- 11:42Speaker 1: me that guys played in the NFL preseason got paid
- 11:47Speaker 1: and now are going to play. And this kid took
- 11:49Speaker 1: a $ 400 flight, withdrew, paid it back. And he's going
- 11:52Speaker 1: to sit for two games. I think that's where the
- 11:54Speaker 1: average fan looks at this and says, but I don't
- 11:56Speaker 1: know who to be mad at, but I'm going to
- 11:57Speaker 1: just be mad at somebody, and LSU's taking.
- 11:59Speaker 2: The brunt of that.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, they're going to take the brunt of it,
- 12:03Speaker 3: which I will tell you right now, no one that's
- 12:05Speaker 3: an LSU.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Fan gives a flying broody poo. They don't care.
- 12:09Speaker 3: I mean, because what are you really asking an LSU fan?
- 12:12Speaker 3: Are you going to be mad at your head coach? Again,
- 12:14Speaker 3: I know you talked about me bringing this up on AYS.
- 12:17Speaker 3: Are you mad at Lane Kiffin for making his roster
- 12:19Speaker 3: the best possible roster that he can make it? No,
- 12:22Speaker 3: you're not going to be mad at that.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Here's the thing.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Tennessee under Hypo, whether it's the Nico situation, the Boo
- 12:29Speaker 3: Carter situation, this situation. I mean, Lane Kiffin went up
- 12:34Speaker 3: to a Knoxville airport and stole Sam Leavitt back after
- 12:38Speaker 3: Washington leaked the Desmond or the Mon Williams news.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Okay?
- 12:42Speaker 3: I mean, like, Hypo, why aren't y'all doing something? I mean,
- 12:46Speaker 3: here is the thing with Arian Carter. You can't be
- 12:49Speaker 3: hypocritical here. Now, I'm not calling you hypocritical, but you
- 12:52Speaker 3: can't be hypocritical. The reason why I say you can't
- 12:55Speaker 3: be hypocritical, you can't say that you don't like... these
- 12:58Speaker 3: players not being there. Arian Carter applied for the NFL draft.
- 13:03Speaker 3: He was going through the NFL draft process. So how
- 13:06Speaker 3: can you be in a situation where this bugs you
- 13:09Speaker 3: and bothers you and say that you don't want these
- 13:12Speaker 3: players to come, but then Arian Carter does the same
- 13:14Speaker 3: thing and you're mad that now he's suspended. Trust me,
- 13:17Speaker 3: I'm with you. Actually, he should be able to play.
- 13:20Speaker 3: If I'm Tennessee, I'm rolling him out there week one
- 13:23Speaker 3: and say, do something about it.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Yes, a thousand percent. You know, like do something about it.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Bring it on. There's nothing that you can do. Oh,
- 13:30Speaker 2: you're going to make us vacate two wins? Okay. I
- 13:34Speaker 2: can't say what I was about to say. This is
- 13:36Speaker 2: a family show. This is a family show.
- 13:38Speaker 3: But I ask the question, how are you mad that
- 13:40Speaker 3: other players are doing it and then Arian Carter went
- 13:42Speaker 3: through the process and then decided to come back because
- 13:45Speaker 3: he had an injury?
- 13:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:46Speaker 3: So, again, I do think that there's a lot of
- 13:50Speaker 3: hypocritical stances here because here's the truth. They don't like Lane.
- 13:55Speaker 3: It's easy to hate LSU. It's easy to hate him.
- 13:58Speaker 3: Lane was asked yesterday, why do you think that everybody's
- 14:01Speaker 3: pointing at you?
- 14:02Speaker 2: He goes, why do you think? Why do you think
- 14:04Speaker 2: everybody's pointing at us?
- 14:07Speaker 3: So, again, as an LSU fan, I would not be
- 14:10Speaker 3: mad that he's trying to do this. But at the
- 14:12Speaker 3: same time, when you bring up Carter, you can't be
- 14:15Speaker 3: hypocritical to say, hey, these guys were trying to go
- 14:18Speaker 3: in the draft.
- 14:19Speaker 2: TJ, let me make this very well clear.
- 14:22Speaker 3: You do know that Texas has an interior offensive lineman
- 14:25Speaker 3: that started 50-plus games that's currently per Sark. And Sark double-dipped.
- 14:30Speaker 3: He said, yeah, I don't like any of this. Well,
- 14:33Speaker 3: Campentil came out, and then you've had an interior offensive
- 14:35Speaker 3: line problem.
- 14:36Speaker 2: TJ, he was the number one guard in practice.
- 14:41Speaker 3: So, again, for me, you can say that I'm being
- 14:46Speaker 3: a homer, but I ask, if you're going to be
- 14:49Speaker 3: logical on the situation.
- 14:51Speaker 2: What about Daly? What about Texas?
- 14:53Speaker 3: What about UCLA that's any different than what LSU just
- 14:57Speaker 3: pulled off?
- 14:58Speaker 2: I mean, again, I ask.
- 15:00Speaker 3: So, look, we can defend LSU or defend Lane. They
- 15:04Speaker 3: don't need defending from me. It's going to be interesting
- 15:07Speaker 3: to see how these conferences rule. This is a shot
- 15:10Speaker 3: at the NCAA because if these conferences are going to
- 15:12Speaker 3: go in there, TJ, and have to enforce rules, what
- 15:15Speaker 3: power does the NCAA have?
- 15:18Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's why if I am Tennessee... I'm just playing. Like,
- 15:23Speaker 2: I'm shocked. You're not making the playoffs anyway. You're not
- 15:26Speaker 2: making the playoffs. And guess what? Guess what? The NCAA
- 15:30Speaker 2: doesn't run the college football playoffs. Right. I don't think
- 15:33Speaker 2: this is happening. I'm excited for Faison.
- 15:35Speaker 1: I don't know how many Tennessee fans are going to
- 15:36Speaker 1: catch this.
- 15:37Speaker 2: I think they're going to be a fun team this year.
- 15:38Speaker 1: I don't think they're competing for a playoff spot. Do
- 15:41Speaker 1: you mean to tell me that if the NCAA said, hey,
- 15:43Speaker 1: we're vacating those two wins from early in the year,
- 15:46Speaker 1: and they went 11-1, that the playoff committee would not
- 15:48Speaker 1: put them in? Do you really think for half a
- 15:51Speaker 1: second the playoff committee would even consider the NCAA?
- 15:55Speaker 3: No.
- 15:56Speaker 2: But here's the thing. You want rule and order?
- 15:59Speaker 3: Why doesn't the college football playoff start giving situations and
- 16:03Speaker 3: doing situations where and putting it in situations where they say, hey,
- 16:09Speaker 3: you can't do that, and we're going to penalize you
- 16:11Speaker 3: for a postseason ban.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Right. You want to end this shit really quickly? You
- 16:16Speaker 2: want to end this right now.
- 16:18Speaker 3: The college football playoff committee comes out and says, if
- 16:21Speaker 3: you sign a pro contract, you.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Will not be eligible for the college football playoff. Instantly. Yep,
- 16:27Speaker 2: it'd be done. Well, remember.
- 16:30Speaker 1: You you what you're asking for, Blake, is you're asking
- 16:32Speaker 1: for an adult in the room to stand up and
- 16:34Speaker 1: there are no.
- 16:35Speaker 2: I mean, you know, did you not hear?
- 16:38Speaker 1: So there's no adults on this show and there's no
- 16:40Speaker 1: adults in the NCAA's whole process either.
- 16:44Speaker 2: You see statement last night.
- 16:46Speaker 3: I mean, and then Tony Petitti, for what it's worth,
- 16:49Speaker 3: you want to know why people keep saying that the
- 16:50Speaker 3: Big Ten is overtaking the SEC?
- 16:52Speaker 2: Look at what happened in the last 12 hours. The leadership.
- 16:55Speaker 2: The leadership.
- 16:56Speaker 3: I don't like Tony Petitti's guidelines for a college football playoff.
- 17:01Speaker 2: I hate him.
- 17:01Speaker 3: I think he's an idiot when it comes to that.
- 17:03Speaker 3: He wants money. Of course he does. Of course he does. However,
- 17:08Speaker 3: he just literally went full MJ versus Utah, stepped back,
- 17:14Speaker 3: and hit a mid-range jumper to win. All right, I'm
- 17:18Speaker 3: not trying to get political, but just stay with me here.
- 17:21Speaker 3: It's what Trump does. What does the political people do?
- 17:26Speaker 3: Trump takes a situation that 95% of America agrees with
- 17:31Speaker 3: and makes it a big deal when it's really not
- 17:34Speaker 3: that big of a deal.
- 17:34Speaker 2: He gets a win. What did Tony Petitti just do? Right.
- 17:39Speaker 1: No Big Ten teams were concerned. This wasn't a big story.
- 17:44Speaker 1: But you know what he saw? He saw weakness from
- 17:46Speaker 1: the SEC, and he said, I could pull a win
- 17:49Speaker 1: right here. I could just put out a statement. and
- 17:53Speaker 1: make a win.
- 17:53Speaker 2: It does.
- 17:54Speaker 1: It's not going to matter. And I'm going to make
- 17:57Speaker 1: myself look better than the SEC.
- 17:59Speaker 2: And you know what? That's not even the first time
- 18:00Speaker 2: he's done it.
- 18:01Speaker 1: He did it with the SEC going to a nine-game
- 18:03Speaker 1: schedule and not getting the strength of schedule stuff. He
- 18:05Speaker 1: did it with– he's done it four times this offseason.
- 18:08Speaker 2: He bullied them. He bullied them into a nine-game conference schedule.
- 18:12Speaker 2: With nothing back. They got nothing back for it. Nothing.
- 18:16Speaker 3: And the top 15 teams with strength of schedule and
- 18:19Speaker 3: strength of record at the end of last year, 14
- 18:21Speaker 3: of them were from the SEC in an eight-game conference.
- 18:25Speaker 1: He's, he's literally running the big 10 and the sec
- 18:29Speaker 1: by bull. He's the, he's the town bully that is
- 18:31Speaker 1: bullying Greg Sankey into whatever the heck he wants.
- 18:33Speaker 2: I got a question. Should Greg Sankey be fired? What has,
- 18:38Speaker 2: what is the sec done?
- 18:39Speaker 1: And I mean, Ask yourself this question 10 years ago
- 18:42Speaker 1: and then say, what are you smoking? But what has
- 18:45Speaker 1: the SEC done exceptionally well now? In fact, they've made
- 18:49Speaker 1: it even harder on themselves.
- 18:50Speaker 2: I was talking with Allie about this the other day.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Not only was the SEC already the toughest, you just
- 18:55Speaker 1: said 14 of the top 15, add a ninth game,
- 18:58Speaker 1: and then why not add a power four opponent on
- 19:02Speaker 1: the outside of it too to make it even tougher?
- 19:04Speaker 1: The Big Ten's looking over there like, Brother, do these
- 19:07Speaker 1: guys have a brain cell?
- 19:08Speaker 2: Like, Indiana ain't doing that. No, they're playing games. They're
- 19:12Speaker 2: playing games.
- 19:13Speaker 3: TJ, USC and Notre Dame aren't playing because of this.
- 19:18Speaker 3: They saw the college football playoff and said, wait a minute,
- 19:20Speaker 3: wait a minute. You're not going to penalize me for
- 19:23Speaker 3: not playing P4 teams outside the conference?
- 19:28Speaker 2: They didn't. They don't. Yeah. And USC was like, yeah, no.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Blake, Rufino, AYS. Sorry, but you can hate them all
- 19:40Speaker 3: you want to. Here's where I am as a guy
- 19:44Speaker 3: who has a favorite team inside the SEC. By the way, TJ,
- 19:48Speaker 3: go to any, any. Rufino and Joe show. I know
- 19:51Speaker 3: I've said this on SEC Unfiltered. I know I said
- 19:55Speaker 3: it on AYS. I have been on Greg Sankey's arse
- 19:59Speaker 3: for probably four years. Like baseball, officiating, scheduling. TJ, how
- 20:07Speaker 3: about this? Georgia has never gone to College Station in football.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Yeah. LSU, by the way.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Went to Texas, the University of Texas in baseball, seven
- 20:20Speaker 3: straight times, and they made LSU a national champion, go
- 20:25Speaker 3: on the road to Texas again.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Again.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Look, I could be on this soapbox all day long
- 20:33Speaker 3: about how he's fumbling the bag. If he's not careful, TJ,
- 20:38Speaker 3: Greg Sankey is going to get pushed out.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Well, I know they're not happy about the nine-game schedule.
- 20:43Speaker 1: I know they're not happy about the way they're.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Going to lose the playoff debate, too, because he'll get
- 20:46Speaker 2: bullied in that. He's getting bullied. He's getting bullied at
- 20:49Speaker 2: every turn. Well, did you hear Kirby, by the way?
- 20:53Speaker 3: Remember when Kirby won the SEC title and Greg Sankey
- 20:57Speaker 3: handed him the trophy? He goes, this was no thanks
- 20:59Speaker 3: to Greg. He gave me the toughest schedule in the country.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Yes. You remember that?
- 21:04Speaker 3: I mean, remember his face afterwards, TJ, he is, he
- 21:09Speaker 3: almost ruined the Southland conference. Yeah.
- 21:13Speaker 1: He's and he's any, and again, you just look at
- 21:16Speaker 1: the decisions that have been made and the sec.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Is still a great conference. Like, don't get me wrong.
- 21:23Speaker 1: I'm not, but man, they, they've made it excruciatingly tough
- 21:27Speaker 1: on themselves and so much tougher than it needs to be. And,
- 21:31Speaker 1: You talk about it, man, like just the lack of
- 21:33Speaker 1: leadership is so, so apparent. So Blake Ruffino, AYS, and
