- 0:40Welcome back to hands with the blunt penknife we are here
- 0:45watching episode 2 of Mega gloss.
- 0:50And if so what was absolutely delightful, do you think that
- 0:54there are any Doctor Who stories that would be improved by having
- 0:58their glasses of the 10 hundreds?
- 1:02Probably because that was a larger.
- 1:04Remember, the original idea for the larger was, it was going to
- 1:08be Mabel. And the and but the idea was
- 1:15going to be that the doctor couldn't remember who may gloss
- 1:17was awesome. That would work and then mop it
- 1:21reuses that idea. Obviously, in deep breath where
- 1:23he can't remember the Clockwork droids in the fireplace, but
- 1:29she's a bit more recent though. Well, except that the doctor
- 1:32spends a few hundred years? Remember, between more in the
- 1:36middle of the Impossible, Astronaut or something.
- 1:39Just shoved a giant rubber Cactus useful.
- 1:42Set my respect for the would have gone.
- 1:52Yeah, you know, it would have just been fun for us, but, you
- 1:57wouldn't have had to have seen Meg loss to enjoy a big Cactus
- 2:02wandering around. I got this wonderful idea, you
- 2:04know, that they could set a, you know, an episode.
- 2:07Maybe someone like the Sarah Jane Adventures me.
- 2:09Not here in Kew Gardens. And I was fabulous, Cactus
- 2:13exhibition, and then they all come to life, and obviously with
- 2:16the Sarah, Jane budget was quite small was so you can have all
- 2:19of, you know, that bit of slime that crosses the floor layer are
- 2:23no just hundreds on her, huh? I think it's absolutely genius.
- 2:30I get. And in fact, it's kind of
- 2:32sillier than what they might have done the previous year, you
- 2:35know, in a in a season that's Really, very, very funny.
- 2:41He having like the cat, the villains are cactuses pretty
- 2:46pretty outrageous. So, what is leaning into Witch
- 2:49Doctor Who has done before? But we've seen dumb brilliantly
- 2:52later on and stuff like Battlestar Galactica and with a
- 2:56change things in DS1 the doppelganger.
- 2:59Yeah, and it's always fun because it means your regulars
- 3:02can just play bad, you know? Yeah.
- 3:05It was actually really funny. We watched behind the sofa.
- 3:09It's not right and you see Tom kind of laughing at his own
- 3:13perforce and kind of go. Well, that was, you know, you
- 3:17just get the sense that he's going to go.
- 3:18Wow, that's really super happy. Look at, look at what I'm doing.
- 3:22And I think the great thing about the doppelganger thing is
- 3:27this is now the second story in a row where they've put Tom in
- 3:31makeup and required him to do an acting performance and given
- 3:35that the admissions but yeah, because he's sales through Or
- 3:40maybe, you know, 16 and 17 really just on the stove.
- 3:45Oh, yeah, brother, that's it. He just sails from the strength
- 3:49of his just performance because he is so compelling and so
- 3:54charismatic. I don't know which one of it was
- 3:57Chris. Fresh Feed me?
- 3:58Or Jonathan turnover. One of them says yeah, we're
- 4:00going to make him act. Yeah.
- 4:01If this year and he didn't happen, we know that old age
- 4:06makeup and he was like, I think I should get out of this, you
- 4:08know. No I know.
- 4:10We're going to make people think this is the doctor that
- 4:13absolutely everywhere AB leaders going to be a cactus forever.
- 4:17No well then maybe you know shoot you get War suddenly
- 4:21there's all these Pricks come out we learned weeping with make
- 4:24losses and tired. However it's really kind of
- 4:30funny about the cactus makeup as well but I suspect that he was a
- 4:34big prick about it. Whoops that was kind of
- 4:39Absolutely asking if Todd babe. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:48But he's so good in this. And, you know, there is, you
- 4:54know, he's not well and State of Decay.
- 4:56And his performance is really a be muted.
- 4:58And he does look thin, doesn't they say about this?
- 5:01I like d curls, remembrance is Curly in State of Decay.
- 5:06Like, he's just not. Well, I would put words in
- 5:08people's mouths. Bye.
- 5:09They said that he was drinking too excessive.
- 5:12Oh and depressed because it is cheaper.
- 5:16So he said he was like going to the gym for absurd amounts of
- 5:20the day and things like that. So he's getting thinner and
- 5:22thinner if he's not eating he's drinking and he's working out.
- 5:25Okay. But you remember in in the
- 5:28commentary for the gospel asst Janet Fielding makes him
- 5:31apologized for being such a prick.
- 5:34I did congrats, she didn't remember but I did congratulate
- 5:37her for making Tom apologize. Sighs research.
- 5:39They did a redo of that commentary.
- 5:42You know, that it's Tom Baker. Chris phrase bid me too and so
- 5:47it's clash of the. Yeah he just wants to cry and
- 5:50stabbed it means making him act. Yeah.
- 5:53All those scenes in the Tardis and episode one and he starts
- 5:56using it and we ever going to leave the Tarzan pygmies like
- 6:02why? Don't think that's an
- 6:03endorsement of my writers and told you I was good.
- 6:09I like those commentaries when it gets a bit contentious, you
- 6:12there's a fact then later hide. What I do?
- 6:14You heard it. But Laurel Awards is that the
- 6:18one where she says, what about the Tardis?
- 6:20Chris is that Anna and canine and show she basically Chris
- 6:24fresh me. This bag slacking off season 17.
- 6:27Yeah, as I and all the things that didn't work and why it was
- 6:29so ridiculous and Lala was just like, no, you're wrong.
- 6:32It was fun. The way is what hi, the kids
- 6:35loved it chose. You are just able to show her
- 6:38you know. Thirteen-year-old nerds.
- 6:40Yes. Because I'm fun about that
- 6:44terrific and Haida the time and now it's true to I mean this
- 6:48season doesn't rate very well. Does it terribly?
- 6:50This is the what I think the full circle gets the worst
- 6:54ratings for any Doctor Who story to a battlefield.
- 6:57Wow, yeah, three point, one, four point nine or something
- 7:01like that. It's really, really love.
- 7:03But Buck Rogers is in and everyone watching that God, have
- 7:08you seen Buck Rogers? Not bothering us for encourage
- 7:11them to do the twice weekly, the period of some years and
- 7:16suddenly, they're ready to go out.
- 7:17Clubbing again, petition, their goodbyes crunches is Dreadful
- 7:22near as good as make loss. No no, no, no, you're much
- 7:25worse, you know you think about Tom Baker's performers, that's
- 7:28one bit in this eyelash a Sinister where he's wearing the
- 7:34the captain I'd make up and he comes out of the shadows and
- 7:38sort of Lures, carrots into the yes.
- 7:41And it's all done without dialogue.
- 7:43Yeah, it's really quite scary. He's good.
- 7:47Well, let's see it in action for I.
- 7:49Okay, so I will count us in. Hmm.
- 7:54Five, four, three, two, one. And we're off, get a decision to
- 8:01put the screaming at right into the music.
- 8:04Yeah. And at the end as well.
- 8:07Yeah. So that starts war in like 71 or
- 8:10some Barry Letts brings it indefinitely.
- 8:12As he says in season 7 it just they have social sort of
- 8:15Indians. Yeah it's music to those nice
- 8:18segue what you know like I guess all of us had the experience of
- 8:21just watching color Doctor Who and then watching black and
- 8:23white doctor. For the first time and it was
- 8:25sort of strange to see the episode just Fade to Black.
- 8:27And then we got the clothes and Grant best a is when Bonnie.
- 8:30Does it in Terror, the vote Jesus Take, why is it?
- 8:33Oh, here we go. Right back to The Chronic
- 8:36hysteresis. So that's actually, is that is
- 8:39actually a screen, isn't it? There it's in Internet that
- 8:43within the great triangles or yeah, that's nice is.
- 8:46So didn't know there's a BBC micro and some crap at me, would
- 8:53we be is kind of About these sets of, we were watching a Star
- 8:55Trek episode. It's funny.
- 9:01One of the things Star Trek has such a defined house style, and
- 9:06it has a lot of standing set. So like when you go down to a
- 9:09planet more often than not, it's just cobbled together, bits of
- 9:13other things. And I remember I was watching
- 9:16Enterprise a few days ago or last week, and there's a prop
- 9:20there, you know, there's a prop with those lights, the long.
- 9:23You with all of the little lights that sort of flash on and
- 9:27off, and it's definitely in season, 1 of Star Trek.
- 9:29The Next Generation were not fucking Enterprise very well
- 9:34said. Where is this?
- 9:37You know, you've got different designers and you've gone, you
- 9:40know, like it's a little bit, there's the house style is less
- 9:43kind of sort of descriptive. Anything.
- 9:46There's a house. Starting 18.
- 9:48You get that sort of fabulous Rococo designs in.
- 9:51Yeah. Designs.
- 9:54Including, which frog? That's what that's part of the
- 9:56joy of Doctor Who. And one of the things that makes
- 9:58it so difficult is that you have to build the world, you know,
- 10:01week, even though we're going to different planets in Star Trek,
- 10:03it's the same setting, right? Yes.
- 10:07There, you know you made a good point there when you and I
- 10:09talked about the Rebus operation and I said to you, I like those
- 10:13worlds where I'm absolutely convinced that before.
- 10:16The story took place, it was there and after the story ends
- 10:19it goes all. Yeah.
- 10:22I'm not sure about sofa fuhrer. Yeah.
- 10:25Yeah I mean it's given a history, isn't it?
- 10:27Like the screens are constructed a long time ago.
- 10:32The technology is so old and so powerful that it's being
- 10:36worshipped as a God. I mean I could see like a
- 10:41continuing drama serial going on, on re boss, you know.
- 10:44Yeah, a lot of fun. I'm not sure it.
- 10:46Even in the same way, the planet is set up to You know, embody
- 10:53that conflict between science and religion in a sort of star
- 10:57treky kind of way. Really, it's homes, you know,
- 11:00because homes always creates worlds with history and and
- 11:04stuff people refer, you know, allude to things.
- 11:07And, and, you know, there's different, you know, the city of
- 11:11sure in Rebus operation, which we never see, but we just hear
- 11:15about the say we're from the north.
- 11:17Yeah, look at them. The thing taking off guard.
- 11:21Dear, I hope it's wobbly, dude. Oh yeah.
- 11:43Oh yeah. Make losses very still and
- 11:54intense. Yeah, isn't it?
- 11:55Yeah. Yeah.
- 11:57I think giving Tom acting to do is a great idea.
- 12:00He's such a lazy. I mean, you have to say that
- 12:05giving him access to do some acting role, but I mean, you
- 12:08don't need him to act because he's Tom and he's incredible.
- 12:12It was so he says, isn't it? You know, I don't have to play
- 12:14it being Doctor Who. Yeah, just me, you know, my real
- 12:17life. That's why he says when he met
- 12:20Elizabeth sladen out in the street, He didn't know how to
- 12:23communicate with her because he's so used to saving the
- 12:25universe. Yeah, he Studios.
- 12:27You know. That's that's a him was reality.
- 12:29I think that was part of the reason why in this season but
- 12:32this is all coming to an end. Yeah.
- 12:34The real world was beckoning and as a bit scary especially when
- 12:39you're such a phenomenon, would you remember that Nationwide
- 12:42interview that he does or is he drunk?
- 12:44It's really unpleasant to watch. That one's is that the one where
- 12:47he's with? Not the one we saw a merry time.
- 12:49No no he's kind of by himself, you know?
- 12:51Gets us because I think it'll go on.
- 12:56He's really drunk. It's Hot.
- 12:58It's a fair perspective Yelp they that's good.
- 13:01We've got sort of reims of plants in front of the camera.
- 13:04As we look at the spaceship and the spaceship, you know, I don't
- 13:08know what they're doing there, that's a sort of, I don't know,
- 13:10but it looks really good. Like, it looks like the model.
- 13:12There's, there's the fat guy with the big black mustache.
- 13:15He's still here and this is always wonderful.
- 13:18When you've got one, very small character and Because usually
- 13:22people around it, I just think that's great.
- 13:25And then when you put great and that's a great line to
- 13:29sometimes, I think you forget who I am is a pretty good line
- 13:32for someone doubling, as the doctor only, there's no egg
- 13:39rolls his tongue. Looking around and land brought
- 13:53attack. Just looks like he's chewing a
- 13:55caramel topping, he's home. What do you think about?
- 13:59These said the servants? In fact, it's funny but I am
- 14:05much less sympathetic to them than the deal even though I
- 14:09think Chris right beneath know. And you know, like, I'm not at
- 14:13all religious, but it just just this sort of smug way that
- 14:18what's the main guy called? Oh yeah.
- 14:21Diedrichs or very lean diedrichs.
- 14:23Yeah. So diedrichs have a man and a
- 14:25woman? Yeah, I like Harris actually.
- 14:27Yeah, after the performance as well.
- 14:29I think her name is the jokes. I get out of Tom Baker, coming
- 14:35in and out of this is yeah. Yeah later on when it's like,
- 14:38oh, you're back again. I say what a marvelous member.
- 14:41Yeah, I think so. Whenever why does everyone have
- 14:53an X in there named his face? Like so my Christian panels
- 14:57advising and with a bit, that's the space name.
- 15:01I think Andrew McCulloch and John fante at they hadn't
- 15:03written science fiction before. So they might be there at the
- 15:07rule book, right? Always got to have concierge and
- 15:10mm. So what what, who do they come
- 15:14back? I can't remember who they were
- 15:16that they were going to. They were going to write project
- 15:18Z 2 Sigma, okay? That was going to be saved.
- 15:21Ins first story in the special features like go to Chris rage
- 15:26pygmies house. Yes, a reunions between the
- 15:28three of them. Yeah, and Chris, Real Madrid
- 15:30doesn't mention that he ended up writing, but he said, no, we're
- 15:35not doing your things about two, great armies at War for two
- 15:43planets, or, and instead of buy weapons at each other, because I
- 15:48know that's where it's going. Yeah, they both fire weapons at
- 15:51Sound and it sort of mutual destruction of everybody or
- 15:55something. Okay, I don't know and various
- 15:58levels of their parents, a race of aliens and depending on who
- 16:02what level of telepathic ability.
- 16:05I do something like that. You can see, they're like
- 16:07instant, I don't know, Stan Lee Ferry.
- 16:09Also, her Castro valve are, is a sedate and beautiful piece.
- 16:13Yeah, much better. Yeah, spear Davidson swear
- 16:18allegiance to tie Tom overacting this.
- 16:21There. But if he goes, it's great
- 16:23pleasure to anybody. Yeah.
- 16:29He's getting to have it and be a bit scary as well.
- 16:33Yeah, meanwhile with, we're still back in the saddle.
- 16:36Delia you're right. We only see sort of Snippets.
- 16:39So yeah, yeah. It's not enough to make it
- 16:41boring and the jokes when they have to play it out.
- 16:43So it's really funny, isn't it? Well John Leeson.
- 16:47He says Anthony, why don't they ever let me go out and play
- 16:54forest or something? Yeah, there's something about
- 16:56canines mechanism like Being you see him being led Along by a
- 17:01string on Brighton Beach, like you can see the string, and you
- 17:06see men bed, let Along on strings like beige, do you do?
- 17:09But the like he moves a bit more quickly and he seems to cope a
- 17:16bit better with kind of growl that's not completely level.
- 17:22Whether that sort of slow, grinding noise thing we used to
- 17:26have its, are they even? Even of a involved in the plot
- 17:31by the end of episode two, who these Target common law.
- 17:35Yeah, she's kidnapped by the gas tax at the end.
- 17:39That's what. Yeah.
- 17:39Yes lying comes in. He brought a dag.
- 17:42I think Tom's by their knees in. No, there we go.
- 17:44We're out of it. They won't do one, shitty pass
- 17:47through by the power of bad acting, and then they their
- 17:50Outlook, it's fixed it. And I love it because it
- 17:53highlights just how good their normal accent.
- 17:55Yeah. Yeah.
- 17:56She's back. Oh, blah.
- 18:06I love her so much. The more I admire her.
- 18:15Yeah I think she's probably fairly terrible person with the
- 18:19right. Honorable salmon will taste in
- 18:21men Chicago too but it's about mention.
- 18:24She was busy makes with Douglas Adams.
- 18:26Yeah. That's true.
- 18:30This bit in a minute where he goes into the dodecahedron and
- 18:34it's this enormous glowing the yeah, it's really, it's great.
- 18:41Yeah. And he plays out like, he's got
- 18:43his like his hands out. He's better rating it.
- 18:47That's wonderful. But surely then if they take
- 18:50that away, they've got no power anymore.
- 18:52So how is this Society running after that it Powers?
- 18:55The entire place was. Yeah, it does.
- 18:58So they have to learn to not be dependent on anymore, maybe
- 19:01they've got reserves that will ask them, you know, a day.
- 19:04Yeah. But a couple of car batteries.
- 19:07Yeah, I think that's the. Looks like he's saying I lost a
- 19:10day. Yeah, the poor access.
- 19:12You know what? Apparently in his Heyday he was
- 19:15a really striking actor. Right?
- 19:17He is past its best here. Yeah, you're struggling with
- 19:20some of the dialogue. Yeah, I think that's right.
- 19:22And it's good dialogue as well. Yeah, I mean he does kind of
- 19:25sell it and I think the scenes between him and He's pretty
- 19:29great and he's an important character.
- 19:32I think I like, I like the idea of, I mean, it is, you know,
- 19:36this sort of pretend society that, you know, and his job is
- 19:40to kind of smooth things over between these two factions.
- 19:43So they've gone for and they do generally adults who they've
- 19:46gone for these very economic amount of characters.
- 19:50Yeah, to portray this entire planet.
- 19:52One old man, you've got two or three people vote for people on
- 19:58this. Violet, she won't she doesn't
- 20:00get. She doesn't get a sidekick the
- 20:02way that diedrichs does. So there's two Dion's.
- 20:05I'm are just one pushed on heat. It knows who she is.
- 20:12Yeah. And but that always does that.
- 20:15That's yeah, yeah. They're just so well done.
- 20:21That. So oh yes.
- 20:26Now I remember what's happening here.
- 20:28It looks great, doesn't it, it's really bright right here.
- 20:33Not good in a way that sort of Blows the videotape out a bit,
- 20:36you know. Like they don't need to do a
- 20:38special effect on it because elective, that bright light is
- 20:40doing his eyes off. He said, yeah, we're getting
- 20:43back to that. Yeah.
- 20:47I want to see it away Pockets amount of times this week, more
- 20:52tiny asleep. I'll here we go.
- 20:56I'll, you know, I'll is wobbling away.
- 20:58Yeah, but instead of just finding slowly across the studio
- 21:03for this costume, in sort of Lights of all sleeves are.
- 21:08Yeah so June Hudson does the behind the so far on this one
- 21:12and she remembers exactly how she made it.
- 21:16It and where she bought the lace from and hold Germain Street.
- 21:22It's beautiful. I think that's a great outfit
- 21:26and Janet's on the other sofa and she's complaining about the
- 21:29fact that she has to weigh the same fucking thing for an entire
- 21:32year int. Yeah I'm Lala got to wear
- 21:34something different every month. He said, that's why your costume
- 21:39because she pulled. So what what flowers best
- 21:43costume? I think it's hearty closed.
- 21:46Five year when it's the Warriors guy who owned the red one, the
- 21:49blood red ball. Oh okay.
- 21:51Oh, oh, the horns of nine. Yeah, well she sort of Posh girl
- 21:56like she's done a Gymkhana so they need is just
- 22:09a dress and she doesn't like the Creature from the pit one.
- 22:14Either where she's like, Co-op. They tried to make me glamorous
- 22:18low Mary time. Yeah, well it's funny.
- 22:20What a funny. Big further say that
- 22:45this. So It's not like, you know,
- 22:47you've got the two sides of the argument religion science.
- 22:50But now the doctor in inverted, commas has gone in the stalinist
- 22:54and working together. They're sort of tiptoeing around
- 22:56together. You got a letter and or
- 22:58something. Kara is how I love that.
- 23:02I really like that. See the way, you know, this
- 23:06planet is a bit disposable is in episode 4 when we foil the plot
- 23:11to, we don't go back to whatever we do with the.
- 23:13So yeah, we don't care about it, you know, we never we just Okay,
- 23:16well I think once Jackie's dead like okay yeah, wrestling with a
- 23:29foam Rome like I like nightmare because of the weird color
- 23:44palette and the deities. I just mean this the jungle said
- 23:49jungle say less expensive and less convincing than it is here
- 23:53suddenly the mandrels work when they're just glowing eyes in the
- 23:57forest. Yeah yeah we're in a brightly
- 24:00lit Corridor their kind of hilariously bad but what's great
- 24:03about this is the megalith makeup stands up to you know
- 24:08strong lighting. I mean you can see and see kind
- 24:12of that it sort of transparent plastic over actors face.
- 24:16Has. And slain always say that I
- 24:17could have. No.
- 24:18I just thought it was an incredible.
- 24:20I think it is really creepy. Yeah, yeah, I think it's
- 24:23fantastic. So now they all think the
- 24:26doctors betray them is how it start their house.
- 24:29Keep selling that that betrayal. Oh, now she's using technology.
- 24:35Yeah, of course. Oh this is great stopped at all
- 24:40costs and then here he is. Tom Baker, covered in Prix.
- 24:46It's it's the in the behind the sofa that he wore at home on the
- 24:56bus or on the tube. And Hazel wouldn't people
- 24:59wouldn't sit next to him on the tube or whatever, you know, it's
- 25:02not Is there something on my face?
- 25:09Although, there is a wonderful bit a bit, where it's the doctor
- 25:13in there and Lexus like, you know, stop the doctor.
- 25:15Find him at all costs that there's a garden.
- 25:18Literature has a gun, right? Yeah.
- 25:21We're talking to that business. Yeah, told me it.
- 25:24Is that himself doing this evening?
- 25:31He's a dog. She remembers every detail.
- 25:36I mean shit, but she is a bit of an amine is affectionate old
- 25:39fossil that's because shorty old lady.
- 25:41She says, you know, modern TVs. Yeah.
- 25:45You know, the effects of conjured in cyberspace or
- 25:47somewhere that she, you know, I think she was well-loved.
- 25:53Oh yeah, no, I then she is fantastic at these sort of
- 25:56Staff. She's certainly having fun.
- 25:58Hauling our wear anything happen.
- 26:02Even if it's got question marks on, Color.
- 26:04Obviously, stop the doctor. Take.
- 26:07Yeah, he's looking up for no reason and then he looks down
- 26:11and there's a gun in his face and then he's like succumb to
- 26:14arrest. This is great because I was it.
- 26:16Tom was playing both roles and yeah it feels completely
- 26:19different. Yeah.
- 26:22The intensity is gone and it's that goofball.
- 26:25Yeah, exactly. It's Astor house.
- 27:05Reaction. Speed son cry.
- 27:07That's so dr. Ish isn't it?
- 27:08She's absolutely completely chill.
- 27:11And she smiles and says something, I mean she's the
- 27:14doctor by the time. Oh yeah, shit.
- 27:17Yeah. Queries Guy.
- 27:18Where she comes out the Tardis? I'm bamboozles, you know, raw
- 27:21vacant or yeah, she's absolutely doctor there.
- 27:24But here where her first reaction to seeing these Pirates
- 27:27is to smile and then duck and then run very slowly through
- 27:30this tiny thing. That's what I mean.
- 27:34Listen not doing Caroline for when she's running on the spot
- 27:37in the Daleks, we produced a little bit of space to run
- 27:39around. Well, that's true, but she
- 27:41doesn't have a lot of sleep lately.
- 27:43That's how you are the background.
- 27:45There is much better than that Star Trek one wheel, which is
- 27:50what in the future with a bigger budget.
- 27:53Yeah, yeah. Oh, this is marvelous.
- 27:56She's seen too much kill her. He and I'm not sure if that's
- 28:05scary on any level for children or adults do and it she doesn't
- 28:09look too scared. She looks well a little bit out
- 28:12of breath but she can do scare can't she wear your?
- 28:14Yeah, Destiny of the Daleks part 1, the Cliffhanger that she's
- 28:18cells are completely herself that she does occasion of a bit
- 28:21of Diana Rigg about our. Yeah, she yeah.
- 28:24I mean that's more of a kind of Mary thing.
- 28:33She sounds inconvenient. Yeah, it's all the shit that's
- 28:36it. Okay, well, I'm gonna hit you
- 28:38with two quick questions, okay? As we go out of episode 2 or
- 28:42they're still coming. Good grade.
- 28:44Oh, goodness. Well, they say people are
- 28:46terribly sorry. Okay, then your night asked, was
- 28:50this bit in the script? Or was it just Tom venting his
- 28:53frustration on camera and Terrence Dudley forgot to edit
- 28:56out? It's when Meg or says
- 28:57Creighton's morons and half-wits no, I Like, toms out Tom's in
- 29:05like, he's not in charge anymore, and I think that like,
- 29:11I never objected Tom being in charge of Series 17 and just
- 29:14getting to do whatever he wants because he's really funny but
- 29:18but that's definitely not Tom. Okay.
- 29:21I thought I quite understand this question and they always
- 29:23help me out in a plant on plant fight to the death.
- 29:27Who do you think would win between make loss and Uncle the
- 29:32athlete? That's a ask us for this
- 29:35transferred on the adventure game.
- 29:38One of seen it, I'd never see me Adventure game.
- 29:40Could we could say, who would win, who would win out of a
- 29:44fight between the warka plants? Marvelous, the cotton brain or
- 29:51Aid? Do they the vervoids?
- 29:55And you mean boss rubba the Bob is not very mobile.
- 30:04No, is it? The fur boys are humanoid.
- 30:06Yeah. They could probably do pretty
- 30:08well. Yeah, and they're doing
- 30:09splendidly, I mean How does the how does this
- 30:32satisfy? The bid me drive for hard
- 30:34science or indeed the J&T ambition for no humor.
- 30:38When the villainous revealed in episode 1 as of talking cacti?
- 30:42And why did anyone think that would work?
- 30:45I don't think there's a no humor directive in season 18.
- 30:50It's just a little toned. Down its own, download rip up
- 30:54too many jokes. Out of David, fishes scripting
- 30:57in Leisure Hive, but you know, like they're casting Bill
- 31:02Fraser, and Freddy, whatever is facing the Pirates and they're
- 31:06funny the whole time. I mean, I don't even Essa.
- 31:08Yeah, your Father's Farm is hardly a black market but also I
- 31:15think bid made as I said before bid me thinks he's doing hard
- 31:19science but he isn't. Yeah.
- 31:20And so here where the science is Magic In fact, you know, like,
- 31:26the whole even though you've got people representing religion,
- 31:29and people representing science, there's, you know, they're
- 31:35having science and religion about the same things and, you
- 31:38know, like the dodecahedron is a platonic solid.
- 31:42Like, you know, like it's not a, you know, it's not a power
- 31:46station or anything like this, it's a powerful platonic solid
- 31:50like it couldn't possibly be more magical and so I think that
- 31:56I think that what bid me does is he makes the rules clear.
- 32:04And so we can't just pull something out of our ass and
- 32:07have the dog doesn't get out by saying some techno Babble or
- 32:10something. And, you know, I think that's an
- 32:13improvement. But to say that b means Doing
- 32:15Hard science, ready to sit in our culture as well.
- 32:18Yeah. And adds like a mythology.
- 32:21Sorry. All feels a bit more substantial
- 32:23than yeah. Then what?
- 32:24We've had bad and when it comes to the, you know, the plant
- 32:27question about, how they think they get away with it.
- 32:30Well, you know, there were moving plants in the keys of
- 32:32marinus. Yep.
- 32:33We've just mentioned Varga plant yet crinoids.
- 32:35Yeah. Like I think everyone feels like
- 32:38they can get away but I'm not sure.
- 32:39I can. This was a lot of fun.
- 32:41Yeah and you know Doctor Who should be fun.
- 32:44Yeah that's right. I'll stop it there.
- 32:48That's a good one. Good.
