  Yeah, as most of you know, guys, we were not, we did not do an

  my, my dad passed away. And obviously it was a, it was

  a, it was a tough week last week with, with family in town and

  just kind of going through the grieving process.

  already, and a bunch of folks were reaching out to me into

  this week and into the start of the start of this week as well.

  Sometimes we don't do these podcasts and there's reasons

  behind them and you know something, you know, we made the

  decision last week to not do it and it is what it is.

  It was UVA week. Don't worry.

  Brian texted me numerous hateful things back later in the week to

  know he was in good spirits when it came to hating UVA.

  That happened and as it said, their family does come first
• 3:33
  here. So let's talk about before we
• 3:38
  talk about football, I'm literally wondering when we're
• 3:41
  going to start the program because the basketball game that
• 3:46
  just ended 20 minutes ago or so. Man.

  They broke the losing. Streak.
• 3:57
  They broke the losing streak. You know, we we had talked about
• 4:01
  it with with everything going on last week and watching some of
• 4:04
  the games, like, you know, the wall is kind of the glue for
• 4:09
  this team with the with the rebounding with with being able
• 4:14
  to stretch the floor out a little bit, just overall
• 4:17
  athleticism. I mean, he's the guy that kind
• 4:19
  of gets the wheels moving. So you're without him for
• 4:24
  probably, it sounds like for at least a little bit more than
• 4:27
  more than likely looking like the rest of this month.
• 4:33
  With that being said, I think if it if it had to happen, this is
• 4:37
  the time for it to happen. That's the guy that has been a
• 4:42
  part of the squad. You're going back to last year.
• 4:46
  He understands the system. Him missing time, is that going
• 4:49
  to probably hurt chemistry or anything at all?
• 4:52
  But what it does do is help some of these other guys create
• 4:54
  larger roles within the team, kind of understand where they
• 4:58
  fit in a little bit better. I think you know, you're going
• 5:01
  to see an improved team from this experience going into ACC
• 5:06
  play. The downside is that you know,
• 5:10
  you're, you're, you're noticing that when this team gets pushed,
• 5:15
  they don't really have that guy that can just kind of get them
• 5:18
  through the tough stretches of a game.
• 5:22
  And and that and you'll see these lols happen and you'll see
• 5:25
  these these moments where they just don't look like the team we
• 5:29
  expect them to be. And then all of a sudden, you
• 5:33
  know, it clicks back in a little bit and you know, thankfully you
• 5:36
  scrape by in this one. You know, this is probably a a
• 5:39
  10 to 15 point win if if low walls in that game, but a win is
• 5:44
  a win. You take it and you move on to
• 5:46
  the next. And you know, hopefully you can
• 5:48
  still work through the rest of this non conference with very
• 5:53
  few blemishes and get into ACC play and get him back.
• 5:56
  Yeah. And I think too, Brian, to that
• 5:59
  point, what we saw today was a more cohesive unit than the last
• 6:02
  two games down in the Bahamas where he didn't play.
• 6:06
  That is one of the downsides of having those tournaments, right?
• 6:09
  It's back-to-back to back. There is no time for gay planet.
• 6:12
  You just need to go play. And we we clearly missed the
• 6:17
  rebounding against both Saint Mary's and VCE.
• 6:22
  And with what I've noticed in it was in this game as well as
• 6:27
  those two, I got a chance to watch more take basketball than
• 6:31
  not. Probably did all last year and
• 6:32
  the last week and 1/2. What you're missing tonight is
• 6:38
  some of those rebounds. How many times early in the
• 6:41
  season, and I know it wasn't some of the best competition.
• 6:46
  Providence was pretty good beaten Colorado State was good
• 6:50
  squad to win probably 2 plot one losses.
• 6:52
  But how many times did we see it we'd again, we get the ball,
• 6:55
  push it down the floor easy layup alley to the wall quick.

  And how easy is that to say when you have a 8 point lead, you you
• 7:06
  get a rebound, make a quick tournament, it's ten.

  Well, they've got they've got a press now you see the ball every
• 7:11
  time there is no push anymore. That's not having to go to the
• 7:15
  wall, not having their getting murdered on the boards.

  Saint Mary's I had no issues with getting killed by BCU on
• 7:23
  the board turn because VCU typically for as long as I can
• 7:27
  have never been a great rebounding team.

  When they murder, you're on the boards.

  It sucks. So like that would probably hurt
• 7:35
  more, even though the 57% from 3 point range by BCU clearly was
• 7:41
  the difference in that game. But now we go through South
• 7:46
  Carolina, there's a win there. Mason's going to be tough this
• 7:49
  Saturday. Yeah, no doubt about it.

  They're. Going to be playing right at VCU

  level. I would imagine from from a

  talent overall talent perspective, if you play a

  better, better game overall and they're not shooting the three

  as well as VCU did in that game, you know, you're probably right

  there. But I think, you know, we got to

  come in here. We'll go ahead and throw it up

  that's big more looks. I think we're starting to see

  him be a little more aggressive offensively.

  As you know, he had was less aggressive, you know, first,

  first game or two and then then kind of exploded and then we've

  kind of seen a little dip and now we're starting to come back

  around. Yeah, I think, I think we'll see

  him kind of work into the style of play both in just NCAA

  basketball in general and as we get into the ACC play just a

  little bit more of an aggressive style of play.

  I think he's still adjusting to that a little bit.

  Well, it's Euro versus American ball.

  So there it is significantly more physical and it is guys who

  are who have more burst. I wouldn't even say speed burst.

  It's the most of the NCAA players have significantly

  quicker first steps than most Euro players.

  Back to Mason. Mason's undefeated, but if you

  look at who they've beaten, Wofford, Winthrop, Catawba,

  yeah, I said Catawba, New Hampshire, Jacksonville, Ohio,

  Florida Atlantic, JMU, Cornell, this is effectively going to be

  their first challenge game where there's going to be a team on
• 9:34
  the other side of the floor with more, with as much if not more
• 9:38
  talent than them. So it's going to be interesting
• 9:42
  how they handle that. But if they can, but if the
• 9:46
  Hoagies can get through that game with the West, Brian, me
• 9:50
  and you were talking about it beforehand, you know, after that
• 9:53
  game, it's effectively Western Carolina, Maryland, Eastern
• 10:00
  Shore and Elon. That should be three wins.

  the question is can Toby Lewall get back by December 31st for

  the UVA game? That would that's the key.

  That would be ideal. And but right now we don't know

  really good opportunity in ACC play to get some quality wins.

  I mean the ACC is going to be a much improved conference this

  year compared with last year. So you you won't quite have the

  lack of opportunity to get those quality wins like you had the

  last couple years in the ACC. Well, yeah, I mean, look, I

  mean, Syracuse upset Tennessee tonight, Duke beat Florida.

  But overall, just in the beginning of the season, the ACC

  significantly proved they're trying to save five teams.
