- 0:21Speaker 1: All right, folks, you're listening to Eagles postgame analysis here
- 0:24Speaker 1: at the Philadelphia Sports Table podcast show, the longest running
- 0:27Speaker 1: weekly Philly sports podcast show in the world, twelve and
- 0:31Speaker 1: a half years strong, and Week thirteen of the Philadelphia
- 0:35Speaker 1: Eagles twenty twenty five twenty twenty six season is now
- 0:38Speaker 1: in the books. They lose to the Chicago Bears down
- 0:42Speaker 1: at the length by a score of twenty four to
- 0:46Speaker 1: fifteen in a game where the wheels have completely come
- 0:50Speaker 1: off this team. I am Jeff Warren. I am recording
- 0:54Speaker 1: solo here as I am in your ears, folks. So
- 0:58Speaker 1: this is probably going to be a short postgame show.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Don't know how this is gonna go overall, as we
- 1:04Speaker 1: are all within Eagles Nation just absolutely baffled by what
- 1:09Speaker 1: we are seeing on the field from the Eagles offense,
- 1:12Speaker 1: and quite frankly baffled by what we are seeing from
- 1:14Speaker 1: the Eagles defense as well as of late. My goodness,
- 1:19Speaker 1: this Eagles team, folks, they stink, they stink. This Eagles
- 1:23Speaker 1: team is a disappointment. Absolutely no fire, no desire, no
- 1:29Speaker 1: real will to win. Just a bunch of guys on
- 1:32Speaker 1: the field, a bunch of players, a bunch of coaches
- 1:35Speaker 1: going through the motions here in week thirteen, So trying
- 1:40Speaker 1: to figure out where to start this discussion with you
- 1:43Speaker 1: and how how really we need to present this Eagles
- 1:46Speaker 1: team in some sort of detail. Again, I said, they
- 1:49Speaker 1: stink and that's how they should be presented. But to
- 1:53Speaker 1: dive into it a little bit more, I think here's
- 1:56Speaker 1: where we're at. Here is the reality. This is week
- 1:59Speaker 1: thirteen teen, Folks, Week thirteen, we are now starting to
- 2:03Speaker 1: look to week fourteen. When it comes to this Eagles offense.
- 2:08Speaker 1: This is not something that is going to be repaarable
- 2:12Speaker 1: anytime soon unless some drastic, drastic measures are taken. What
- 2:16Speaker 1: are those drastic measures. I'm sure that Philly Sports Talk radio,
- 2:20Speaker 1: other podcasts, I'm sure other articles are going to be
- 2:24Speaker 1: written this past week about what those drastic measures might be.
- 2:28Speaker 1: But the reality is, folks, there is no light switch
- 2:30Speaker 1: moment that is going to happen for the Philadelphia Eagles
- 2:33Speaker 1: offense and the coaching staff. There's not going to be
- 2:37Speaker 1: a light switch moment. It's not like the light bulb
- 2:40Speaker 1: is just going to go off and they say, ah,
- 2:43Speaker 1: that's it. How many weeks has it been? They have
- 2:48Speaker 1: had weeks and weeks and weeks to prepare to make
- 2:53Speaker 1: some sort of change, and they haven't. They're doing the
- 2:57Speaker 1: same things over and over and over again, and we're
- 3:01Speaker 1: seeing the same results, the same negative based results. We
- 3:07Speaker 1: have questions as fans. We have presented certain ideas as fans,
- 3:13Speaker 1: and not that the Eagles front office brass is going
- 3:15Speaker 1: to be listening to us anytime sooner, this coaching staff,
- 3:18Speaker 1: or even the players for that matter, Not that they're
- 3:20Speaker 1: going to be listening to us. But but I tell
- 3:22Speaker 1: you right now, there's a lot of folks within Eagles
- 3:24Speaker 1: Nation who know what the heck they're talking about when
- 3:27Speaker 1: it comes to football. And we are always honest on
- 3:29Speaker 1: this podcast platform, always have, always will be. This is
- 3:34Speaker 1: not only giving so many twenty twenty three vibes right now,
- 3:38Speaker 1: but it's at a point where I think, when we
- 3:41Speaker 1: reflect on what has happened in the past, this season
- 3:46Speaker 1: may actually be over. This season really may actually be
- 3:49Speaker 1: over at this point. And the question that is going
- 3:51Speaker 1: to be persisting over the next few days is will
- 3:54Speaker 1: Kevin Patulo keep his job? And there were times in
- 3:59Speaker 1: this game against the Bears and just over how many
- 4:03Speaker 1: how many weeks Now at this point, we see this
- 4:05Speaker 1: Eagles offense take one step forward at times, and there's
- 4:10Speaker 1: certainly some positive steps. I mean in this game. AJ
- 4:13Speaker 1: Brown had a fantastic game quite frankly when his number
- 4:17Speaker 1: was called. But when they take one step forward, they
- 4:22Speaker 1: take two steps back as well. This happens every single week,
- 4:27Speaker 1: every single week, as we know. So to dive into
- 4:30Speaker 1: this offense, we're certainly gonna get to the defense too.
- 4:33Speaker 1: We're not gonna let those folks off the hook. We're
- 4:35Speaker 1: not gonna let those players off the hook at all.
- 4:37Speaker 1: In terms of the run defense. Oh, we will get
- 4:40Speaker 1: to them. But starting with this offense. Here at the
- 4:44Speaker 1: beginning of the game, the Eagles and Nick Sirianni ended
- 4:48Speaker 1: up winning a challenge on an official spot. It was
- 4:52Speaker 1: fourth down, so they win the challenge and it was
- 4:54Speaker 1: a turnover on downs. We're thinking to ourselves, Man, this
- 4:57Speaker 1: is great, O, great, this is great. The challenge worked
- 5:00Speaker 1: offense is going to get out on the field. First
- 5:02Speaker 1: drive of the game. They do absolutely nothing with it,
- 5:06Speaker 1: only one first down and then they stalled. And as
- 5:09Speaker 1: I was reading through my Twitter feed at the time,
- 5:11Speaker 1: as I'm you know, paying attention to what's going on
- 5:13Speaker 1: on the TV, I gotta tell you, I give Jimmy
- 5:16Speaker 1: Kemski a lot of credit for this, and I usually
- 5:17Speaker 1: don't don't give him credit for much. Not my favorite
- 5:22Speaker 1: guy out there, but he tweeted out how the Eagles
- 5:24Speaker 1: defense has now gone and gotten ten straight stops when
- 5:30Speaker 1: opponents have gone for it on fourth down, and the
- 5:33Speaker 1: Eagles offense only have thirteen points coming off of those
- 5:37Speaker 1: ten turnovers on downs. So what we're saying here is
- 5:42Speaker 1: then the Eagles had a great opportunity. The defense actually
- 5:46Speaker 1: got them a turnover on downs after that challenge, and
- 5:51Speaker 1: they did nothing with it. Also, in terms of the
- 5:55Speaker 1: offense starting this game in the first quarter, in the
- 5:59Speaker 1: first quarter of the game, the offense actually had more
- 6:02Speaker 1: pre snap penalties than first downs two pre snap penalties
- 6:06Speaker 1: one first down. In the second quarter, we move along,
- 6:10Speaker 1: we see off the offense stalling and stalling and stalling,
- 6:14Speaker 1: and before we know it, we're at the half and
- 6:15Speaker 1: we're saying to ourselves, God, this team is just terrible.
- 6:20Speaker 1: This offense is terrible. My gosh. I mean, the Eagles
- 6:23Speaker 1: were only down ten to seven at the half. They
- 6:26Speaker 1: were only down ten to seven. I'm sorry, ten to three. Sorry,
- 6:30Speaker 1: they were down ten to three at the half, which
- 6:34Speaker 1: you know, they were still technically in the game, even
- 6:37Speaker 1: though it felt and had those vibes that there was
- 6:39Speaker 1: no way they were going to win this game. But
- 6:41Speaker 1: at the half, folks, the Bears had sixteen first downs,
- 6:46Speaker 1: Meanwhile the Eagles had two. The Bears at the half
- 6:50Speaker 1: had two hundred and twenty two total yards of offense.
- 6:55Speaker 1: The Eagles had eighty three. The Chicago Bears had one
- 6:58Speaker 1: hundred and forty two rushing yards by the half, the
- 7:02Speaker 1: Eagles had twenty six. And the time of possession in
- 7:06Speaker 1: the first half the Bears had twenty one minutes to
- 7:10Speaker 1: the Eagles nine minutes. And we're all trying to figure
- 7:14Speaker 1: out what's happening. Who is at fault at the end
- 7:18Speaker 1: of the day. Listen, folks, it's everything. It is absolutely everything.
- 7:24Speaker 1: The offensive line missing blocks, the quarterback missing throws. The
- 7:31Speaker 1: play design and concepts are still terrible. The play sequencing
- 7:35Speaker 1: is really just random. Everybody's making penalties. Sometimes you see
- 7:40Speaker 1: the wide receivers kind of just jogging around at times.
- 7:43Speaker 1: The tight end, god knows what is going on with
- 7:47Speaker 1: him at times, running backs or missing holes and hesitating.
- 7:52Speaker 1: And I'll say this too, and our good friend Brandon
- 7:54Speaker 1: le gout and from Bleeding great Nation dot com actually
- 7:57Speaker 1: tweeted out if it was only somebody's job on the
- 8:01Speaker 1: team to identify and address what I had just gone through,
- 8:07Speaker 1: If it was only somebody's job to address and identify
- 8:13Speaker 1: these issues going on with this team. Man, the Chicago
- 8:18Speaker 1: Bears were winning at the line of scrimmage right off
- 8:21Speaker 1: the bat. They took over in the trenches and they
- 8:24Speaker 1: kept it going throughout the game. They were tougher than
- 8:27Speaker 1: the Philadelphia Eagles in the trenches. They were bullying them,
- 8:32Speaker 1: just completely one out playing them. And if it was
- 8:37Speaker 1: only somebody's job on the team to address and identify
- 8:40Speaker 1: these issues, hmm, guess the coaching. Guess the coaching. So
- 8:47Speaker 1: as we're moving along here, and if you're still listening
- 8:52Speaker 1: to me here, I just want to say, give a
- 8:54Speaker 1: few examples of the nonsense we saw in this game
- 8:57Speaker 1: and let us know your thoughts. Philadelphia Sports Table at
- 9:01Speaker 1: gmail dot com would love to read your email on
- 9:04Speaker 1: the show and respond to it about where this Eagles
- 9:05Speaker 1: team is. There's been a lot of discussed out there
- 9:09Speaker 1: with regard to Jalen Hurts, and I think we all
- 9:12Speaker 1: folks have to get over the fact that this is
- 9:13Speaker 1: a Super Bowl winning MVP quarterback. And yes, I know
- 9:17Speaker 1: that was last year. This year is this year. But
- 9:20Speaker 1: this isn't all on Jalen Hurts. As I mentioned, Yes,
- 9:22Speaker 1: the quarterback is missing some throws. Jalen Hurts miss DeVante
- 9:26Speaker 1: Smith on that crossing route in the first quarter that
- 9:28Speaker 1: could have possibly been a touchdown, a horrendous play on
- 9:32Speaker 1: third and eight. Aj Brown. He's got the most offensive
- 9:36Speaker 1: penalties on the Eagles this season with six. He has
- 9:40Speaker 1: four false start penalties. I believe the other two have
- 9:43Speaker 1: been offensive pass interference plates. Jalen Hurts with the interception
- 9:47Speaker 1: in the third quarter, absolutely forcing a throw because nothing
- 9:51Speaker 1: else was going on, not just in terms of that
- 9:54Speaker 1: play but with the entire offense up until then, and
- 9:58Speaker 1: nobody was open. And that's what happens when you try
- 10:01Speaker 1: to make something out of nothing. Jalen Hurts is not
- 10:04Speaker 1: off the hook in this game by any stretch of
- 10:06Speaker 1: the imagination. But he is not the sole reason why
- 10:08Speaker 1: this team is where it is at and where this
- 10:11Speaker 1: offense is at right now. Because look, he's I mean,
- 10:15Speaker 1: we saw his throws in this game. When he's able
- 10:18Speaker 1: to complete some pretty good throws that touchdown that went
- 10:21Speaker 1: from Hurts to AJ Brown. I mean, and right before
- 10:24Speaker 1: you saw that, what happened, folks, Right before you saw
- 10:26Speaker 1: that what happened, You saw Jalen Hurts using his legs,
- 10:29Speaker 1: which we do not see often this season, as we
- 10:32Speaker 1: have in the past. He had a twenty three yard
- 10:37Speaker 1: rush right before that touchdown pass the first one to
- 10:39Speaker 1: AJ Brown. And this season, as was noted by the commentators,
- 10:45Speaker 1: this season, Jalen Hurts is only averaging approximately twenty three
- 10:48Speaker 1: yards rushing per game, and in previous seasons, for my recollection,
- 10:52Speaker 1: it had been around forty four yards per game. Three
- 10:56Speaker 1: turnovers from Jalen Hurts in two weeks is absolutely no
- 11:00Speaker 1: good and it's not going to get the job done.
- 11:03Speaker 1: And this game, yes, was probably the worst that Jalen
- 11:05Speaker 1: Hurts has actually looked, maybe since his rookie season. But again,
- 11:10Speaker 1: of course he's not the only problem with this team,
- 11:13Speaker 1: but his level of play at times in this game
- 11:15Speaker 1: was absolutely embarrassing. Also, I think we can agree on
- 11:22Speaker 1: the fact that it's probably time to put the tush
- 11:25Speaker 1: push on ice for a while. Can we all maybe
- 11:28Speaker 1: agree on that, My gosh, the Eagles have been outscored
- 11:34Speaker 1: forty eight to nine since taking a twenty one to
- 11:38Speaker 1: zero lead on the Dallas Cowboys, and since then they've
- 11:42Speaker 1: committed four turnovers during that stretch. They've only had four
- 11:46Speaker 1: turnovers all season prior to that stretch. So with that said,
- 11:53Speaker 1: there's no easy answers here, folks, no easy answers again.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Offensive line missing blocks, the quarterback is missing throws. The
- 12:01Speaker 1: play design and concepts are still terrible. The sequencing of
- 12:05Speaker 1: these play calls is so bizarre and random. The penalties
- 12:11Speaker 1: are a problem. Maybe not having all the receivers putting
- 12:15Speaker 1: all the effort in the world into their routes, that
- 12:17Speaker 1: could be a problem. Got a running back who's missing holes,
- 12:20Speaker 1: and you've got an offensive line that is just kind
- 12:23Speaker 1: of at times standing around. As you will see, they're defeated,
- 12:29Speaker 1: they're dejected. That seems very obvious. If anything is going
- 12:35Speaker 1: to happen with this team from a positive standpoint, especially
- 12:39Speaker 1: from an offensive standpoint, they're gonna have to do it
- 12:41Speaker 1: this week. You can't keep doing the same thing over
- 12:45Speaker 1: and over and expect some sort of new and positive results.
- 12:48Speaker 1: So with that being said, we're gonna go to break here,
- 12:52Speaker 1: gonna collect my thoughts as we then get into the
- 12:55Speaker 1: Eagles defense, which was not great in this game either.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Stick with us. We will be back in just a bit.
- 13:04Speaker 1: All right, we are back, and the Philadelphia Eagles defense
- 13:09Speaker 1: really didn't have that great of an outing here in
- 13:11Speaker 1: Week thirteen, as the Chicago Bears rushed for a total
- 13:16Speaker 1: of two hundred and eighty one yards on this defense.
- 13:19Speaker 1: In this defensive front, they averaged six yards per rush,
- 13:25Speaker 1: two touchdowns, one from Kyle Manonga. Of course I mess
- 13:31Speaker 1: up his name, Mononghee Manongee, Kyle Manoge and DeAndre Swift.
- 13:38Speaker 1: DeAndre Swift, former Philadelphia Eagle, averaged six point nine yards
- 13:43Speaker 1: per rush in this game on eighteen carries. Kyle Manonga
- 13:49Speaker 1: I had twenty two carries for one hundred and thirty
- 13:51Speaker 1: yards in this game. He averaged five point nine yards
- 13:54Speaker 1: per carry. Was it this Eagles defensive front is being
- 13:58Speaker 1: gassed out there? Was it them essentially saying maybe subconsciously, boy,
- 14:05Speaker 1: the offense just isn't getting its job done, and boy,
- 14:08Speaker 1: what the hell are we doing out here? Two total
- 14:11Speaker 1: sacks on the game. Jalen Carter had one, Nolan Smith
- 14:14Speaker 1: had the other. There were the two tackles for a
- 14:18Speaker 1: loss as well, which both came from Jalen Carter. Six
- 14:22Speaker 1: quarterback hits just wasn't good enough. Defensive front just was
- 14:27Speaker 1: not good enough. And when you're letting gadget plays move
- 14:33Speaker 1: the sticks for first downs, that's not helping either. Dj
- 14:36Speaker 1: Moore he had one carry for ten yards, but it
- 14:39Speaker 1: was a first down that kept a drive going. When
- 14:42Speaker 1: Dj Moore is out rushing your running back in Saquon Barkley,
- 14:50Speaker 1: who averaged four point three yards per per rush in
- 14:54Speaker 1: this game, it's not a good thing. I know, it's
- 14:57Speaker 1: probably not an equivalent way to gauge both of those
- 15:01Speaker 1: rusher rushers and Dj Moore is not even a running back.
- 15:05Speaker 1: But I'm still I'm still really trying to just get
- 15:07Speaker 1: through this, folks, because it's tough to know where this
- 15:10Speaker 1: Eagles defense had been going and where they are now
- 15:15Speaker 1: after the collapse against Dallas. And in terms of this game, yes,
- 15:19Speaker 1: Caleb Williams only throwing for one hundred and fifty four yards,
- 15:23Speaker 1: he only averaged four point three yards per attempt seventeen
- 15:28Speaker 1: of thirty six. Caleb Williams didn't have that great of
- 15:32Speaker 1: a game, but they were able to keep drives alive
- 15:35Speaker 1: because this Eagles defense was playing extremely soft, extremely extremely
- 15:39Speaker 1: soft upfront as well, So as we continue to analyze
- 15:44Speaker 1: this defense, boy, I know a lot of us have
- 15:47Speaker 1: seen some up and down frustration with Andrew mccooba this season,
- 15:50Speaker 1: the rookie safety, and before he went down with his
- 15:53Speaker 1: ankle injury, we got Sidney Brown this week and wooo
- 15:57Speaker 1: was Sidney Brown bailed out by two really bad Caleb
- 16:01Speaker 1: Williams throws that both should have been a touchdown in
- 16:04Speaker 1: the first half. My goodness. But man, when an Eagles
- 16:09Speaker 1: defense gives up over one hundred yards rushing to two
- 16:13Speaker 1: different Bears running backs, that's not good. And oh, by
- 16:15Speaker 1: the way, that was the first time that that happened
- 16:18Speaker 1: with the Bears having two rushers for over one hundred
- 16:23Speaker 1: yards since nineteen eighty five. My goodness. Reid Blankenship did
- 16:30Speaker 1: not look great today. And yes, I know he's been
- 16:34Speaker 1: nursing an injury after leaving last week's game against the
- 16:37Speaker 1: Cowboys towards the end of the game. Yes, he's nurse
- 16:41Speaker 1: nursing an injury. But look, Zach Bond didn't have the
- 16:44Speaker 1: greatest game either. You know, I genuinely saw a little
- 16:49Speaker 1: bit of just lethargic type of play from him out there.
- 16:54Speaker 1: I think the majority of this defense, again going back
- 16:56Speaker 1: to what I was saying earlier, maybe it's in their
- 16:59Speaker 1: subconscious saying, man, the offense is just not able to
- 17:01Speaker 1: get it done, So what the hell should we be
- 17:04Speaker 1: doing out here? So disappointing with I don't even know, honestly, folks,
- 17:09Speaker 1: where we can actually go and end this particular postgame
- 17:14Speaker 1: show other than to say the offense stunk, the defense stunk.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Oh yeah. By the way, special teams not that great either.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Jake Elliott missing an extra point in the third quarter.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Just terrible all around special teams. I mean you also
- 17:33Speaker 1: had Bradon Man, I know the wind was a factor.
- 17:35Speaker 1: It only averaged forty nine yards per punt. Come on,
- 17:40Speaker 1: come on, Brittain Covey had one punt return it went
- 17:44Speaker 1: for nine yards. Gotta tell you, it's disheartening when all
- 17:50Speaker 1: three aspects of your team offense, defense, special teams all
- 17:55Speaker 1: are crap in the bed. You're not gonna win in
- 17:57Speaker 1: this league, especially playing well a team on the upswing
- 18:02Speaker 1: like the Chicago Bears. My gosh, the Chicago Bears nine
- 18:07Speaker 1: to three. Who would have thought this to be honest
- 18:09Speaker 1: with you, I love every year when the Eagles schedule
- 18:12Speaker 1: comes out, right, when the Eagle schedule comes out and
- 18:15Speaker 1: everybody goes crazy, everybody makes their predictions. We don't do
- 18:18Speaker 1: that here on this show and haven't because it is
- 18:21Speaker 1: a ridiculous exercise. It is a ridiculous exercise because so
- 18:27Speaker 1: many people were saying before the season even start, Oh,
- 18:30Speaker 1: that Bears game Week thirteen, that's going to be an
- 18:33Speaker 1: easy win for the Eagles. Really, folks, a lot of
- 18:38Speaker 1: dynamics happening throughout the course of a season, and a
- 18:42Speaker 1: lot of those dynamics have led us to where we
- 18:45Speaker 1: are today, a Super Bowl champion team who is now
- 18:49Speaker 1: lost after thirteen weeks of play. Can you call it
- 18:53Speaker 1: a Super Bowl hangover? Call it whatever you will, but
- 18:56Speaker 1: they're lost at the end of the day. And like
- 18:59Speaker 1: I mentioned at the top here, there's no light switch
- 19:04Speaker 1: moment that is going to happen for this Eagles offense
- 19:07Speaker 1: and the coaching staff overall. There's no light switch moment.
- 19:10Speaker 1: A light bulb is not going to go off and
- 19:12Speaker 1: things are magically going to positively occur on the football field.
- 19:16Speaker 1: As we look to Week fourteen and Week fourteen against
- 19:19Speaker 1: the Los Angeles Chargers. Nothing magical is going to happen
- 19:24Speaker 1: until there is some sort of change. So, with that
- 19:26Speaker 1: being said, if Kevin Petuloh is still the offensive coordinator
- 19:31Speaker 1: at the end of week fourteen, I will be seriously
- 19:36Speaker 1: shocked and I'll have a lot more questions about this
- 19:39Speaker 1: Philadelphia Eagles front office and the direction that they will
- 19:44Speaker 1: be going in for the remainder of this season. Oh, folks,
- 19:48Speaker 1: it's a tough one. It's a tough one to swallow,
- 19:50Speaker 1: and it's tough to swallow where this team is actually
- 19:53Speaker 1: at right now at this particular point in time. So
- 19:57Speaker 1: that being said again, Week thirteen of this Philadelphia Eagle
- 20:00Speaker 1: season is now in the books. They lose to the
- 20:03Speaker 1: Chicago Bears by a score of twenty four to fifteen.
- 20:06Speaker 1: I'm going to be signing off here. Share the Philadelphia
- 20:10Speaker 1: Sports Table podcast show with your friends and family. I
- 20:13Speaker 1: know after a loss like this, we don't we probably
- 20:16Speaker 1: don't want to do a lot of sharing of anything,
- 20:18Speaker 1: but we appreciate you. We appreciate you downloading the show,
- 20:22Speaker 1: if you're watching on YouTube, if you are a longtime
- 20:26Speaker 1: listener or new to the show, we thank you so
- 20:28Speaker 1: much and take care we'll catch you next time.
