Transcript
- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: Greetings friends family loved ones hated ones all walks of life whether the lowest read to the brightest gold welcome my friends of Hyperion City to the talk back of iron rising a star forged actual play I am your presenter Ace Beller and the best NPC of the campaign thus far I will turn it over to the GM's flash players you know some say it's decks
- 0:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think that we'd have to, we'll have to do a poll.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, we'll do a poll at the end and see.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_03]: One thing that wasn't stressed enough is that Dex doesn't have any eyes.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_03]: As I'm like editing these episodes, I'm like, we didn't talk about that.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_03]: He has no eyes.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we didn't.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: Roof.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_03]: We got to, listen, season two.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: Let me kind of mention this is Isla's cat.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, Isla's cat.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_03]: But this is the series talk back.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_03]: We are finished with the series.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_03]: A lot went down.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_03]: A motions were wrecked by the end of it.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely devastated by the end of it.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_03]: I did a lot of.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_03]: talking to my mother but yeah so how did that go she was like well she doesn't know about TTRBG but I was trying to explain like you know actors and they really get into role I compared it to not Jared Little Jesus he fledger as Joker oh yeah you just get so into a character and all that like a Daniel Day Lewis too
- 1:45[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and then, like, how do you separate from that?
- 1:48[SPEAKER_03]: Because the final episode really felt like I was, like, my heart rate was beating fast.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_03]: It was, it was great.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the sweat and tears were like really there.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and I never experienced bleed that bad, but it wasn't bad.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_03]: And I've been thinking about it and learning more about it.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_03]: And it was more like creative grief.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_03]: That makes sense.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I know like creative catharsis and like just yeah, it was because I I knew logically that it was fiction but my body and the things that we were doing and going through it took a while for that to catch up
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, as a trained theater person that is very much what happens when you are in a heated scene, whether it's with words or with actual like stage weapons or something like that, you know as an actor.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: This is all fiction.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: This is a story.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not actually angry with this person.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sharing a stage with, but your body still has real fight or flight.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_03]: Right, right.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_03]: So when you're what's the when that the not fair amounts, but there's things that come up in your mind and thinking of the word
- 2:59[SPEAKER_03]: something like activates or just gets heightened like the adrenaline and stuff.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_03]: So these are all still physical things your body is still going through.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_03]: Even if you know logically, because you still have to get there.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_03]: If I'm going like breathing hard, my bodies in the act of like being anxious or crying.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the brink of hyperventilating and stuff.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_03]: So how are we both
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: Personally, I feel a bit of a bit of a sweet, like I'm very happy with the work that we did.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: I'm very proud of the story we told.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, it ends on a set really sad note with so many questions and so many launching points to where some things could go, or what sort of like the shockwave of consequences that will happen would just be really cool to explore.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I would agree with you.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_03]: If this was the only season, then I would fully agree with the bitter part.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_03]: Let's say we only did one and ended there.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: Oh man, that would be brutal.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_03]: They'd be killer.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_03]: Now that it's done, I guess I would agree.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_03]: I would agree with you.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_03]: It's a, this was, oh, it was fun, but it's,
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: It was taxing.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I guess that's the word.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_03]: I don't want to say it's sucked, but like, there's so, like, so many like bad feelings, you know what I mean?
- 4:38[SPEAKER_03]: But like, it was all, it's all real and it was all raw.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: It was emotionally like it really pulled a lot of emotional energy in addition to mental energy.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, do you think it was because do you think it helped all the props that we did?
- 4:55[SPEAKER_03]: You think it added to this feeling at the end of the day?
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think definitely had definitely had had a band in it.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: Especially because we kind of like we knew from the beginning how we built these characters that the story was going to go a certain way.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: So like it was more of this like it's going to happen.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: Here it goes.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: Here comes up.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: We're in it.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_01]: We're in it now.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_01]: and how.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we just went and how and yeah, exactly.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, because we, at the very beginning, our vows are so perfectly diametrically most.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_03]: And it's absolutely crazy.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_03]: So like the PvP was inevitable.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: Which was very interesting to work around with StarFourge because it's so much a co-operative, but it was kind of interesting to be co-operative, but also chatting ulterior motives.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_03]: I think if we're talking about mechanics and the system and stuff, that was the only sticking point, I would say, because it really does co-op so well.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_03]: And so towards the end, we were splintering more and more, and going away from what the system is best at.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_03]: And so, I don't, I wouldn't say we were floundering, but it doesn't support PVP really, so we were just trying to figure out, like, do we create?
- 6:15[SPEAKER_03]: tracks for each other like dude like it was it was a little odd I would say.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was we had as a mechanics thing it was one of the only few like little speed bumps we hit as we got to that splintering and that fracturing that we narratively were really getting into.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah and I think because this game is all about co-op but most games are about that in like the
- 6:43[SPEAKER_03]: Um, but we started off creating goals that are separate from each other.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, um, which is interesting to play with.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that was, um, I think that was fun.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_03]: but I knew that my goal was like, let's start from the top and then just completely break them down.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: Let's nose dive.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, let's just go that way because we could totally had to just done the, the, the rebels and we could have been like reds.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we could have been reds and it could have been the classic uprising, fighting, the fighting, the bad guys and the corporations and all that good stuff.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: So it was an interesting choice for us to go from the top and flip that.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_03]: No, it's dive.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_03]: Another thing that I was thinking about is, did we have any early expectations versus what the show actually became?
- 7:41[SPEAKER_03]: Is there anything that like changed wildly?
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think so.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like if anything, we just colored it in.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think we knew how how it was going to affect us in the end.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: But I feel as though we kept a good trajectory of where we wanted point B to be from point A.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: Or it's like, this is where it's going.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly, we said earlier, we knew the what, and we knew the who, which is our characters.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: We just didn't know the when and the how.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think, because we were talking about it in our discord server, we had the question of the day.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_03]: One of them, today's was about, like, how much do you prep versus just, like, you know, going off the cuff and letting the ending be what it is naturally?
- 8:32[SPEAKER_03]: And I've said, my most satisfying campaigns are ones where I know what be is.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_03]: and some people were like, you know, everybody does it their own way and some people will just let things flow naturally.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_03]: But seriously, all my most awesome, amazing, most satisfying endings have been like something I have thought of already and then I just present it to the players.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_03]: I say, here's B.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_03]: Let's get to it together and you can get there in whatever way you want and I think that's how we we planned it kind of Yeah, I feel incredibly fulfilled personally, but I also feel I've assated and crushed You can you can feel both So what do you think about that?
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: Personally, I also am someone who Like to do enough preps that I can be loose fast and lose on my ways between like a to b b to c yeah
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: But like as long as I know where my ending is, and I know where my beginning is, the middle can really just be open exploration chaos, RP, whatever, and even be doesn't like, it's not like I railroad necessarily, I know that that's something we talked about before like railroad versus sandbox.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: where I like the happy medium where it's like I don't want to necessarily railroad a story but I want to at least have it I want to be in the ballpark of where I want it to go but where we go in that ballpark can be played with yeah if that makes sense I've also found players like
- 10:01[SPEAKER_03]: a linear structure and like I won't say railroad, but players have largely if I presented both options multiple times, always have chosen the linear one, like they want like an actual like what's our goal?
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: They want a story.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, what's what's the thing we're working towards?
- 10:21[SPEAKER_03]: I have found that they really don't want the sandbox, really, but they maybe the illusion of it?
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you could absolutely give the illusion of a sandbox.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: It's like that picture you see where like like you see like the cow goes he's like two paths Yeah, but the cow doesn't see the edges path keeps going.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: They go to the same place anyway
- 10:41[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, I think that's it the illusion of choice.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_03]: It's the illusion of choice and hey These are all like fantasy made up games.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_03]: So it's okay.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and I think well mainly I learned this during this process because I am a prepper a heavy prepper I think We was like episode three or four where I was like we're prep well Prepping too much
- 11:06[SPEAKER_03]: And then there was, we were recording ones, and I already knew the outcome of a certain scene or something, and it just didn't feel good.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't like to already kind of know what was going to happen.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_03]: So I was like, okay, so we need to cut back on prep.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we got to reel it back to a little more fast and loose.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_03]: It's difficult because this is a series that is short.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_03]: And so you can't go fool sandbox.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: Correct.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm going to show you that that happy medium was interesting.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_03]: Do you have any favorite moments or surprises?
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: Um, honestly, some real surprises to me came, well, first of all, just on the mechanical sense, the amount of match roles that between the two of us that we had the entire campaign, I didn't think that was going to happen so frequently.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: And that just made those moments where they were big successes, or, you know, the one at the very beginning, like a big failure, just
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: wildly impactful to the story.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_00]: Like it was really exciting to see them, but I just what that's something that surprised me, but also delighted me.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: Whether it was a failure or a success.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: It was a really cool moment each time we got one.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_03]: It was, it did feel good.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_03]: I, because I originally thought they were rare, and then I feel like there's at least five of them, and there's a dire series, which is a good amount.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: That's a lot, yeah.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_03]: My surprise was
- 12:39[SPEAKER_03]: The amount of bleed I felt by the last recording session?
- 12:45[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I've honestly never felt it that strong before, ever.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think we both had to walk away for a little bit and just kinda...
- 12:53[SPEAKER_03]: It was truly, and I talked to, I explained to my mom and my sister.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_03]: I said, it felt like having to say goodbye to an actual family member that you're really close to.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_03]: And I thought of my sisters, and I was like, oh my God, if I ever had to separate from them in that way, or something happened where the relationship just splintered and we separated from each other, I would be absolutely devastated and broken.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I was like that.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_03]: Of course.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, you love us.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_03]: And I was like, what is this?
- 13:29[SPEAKER_00]: You're not understanding the point here.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_03]: Of course, I love you guys.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_03]: That's why I'm talking about it.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_03]: So that was the biggest surprise for me in feeling that.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_03]: And like, what my body went through doing more research on it and being like, okay, so what do other people do during this?
- 13:47[SPEAKER_03]: Because this is crazy.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_03]: I think even today, I was still feeling a little weird.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, the emotional exhaustion for sometimes you can be so moved by something That's a fire engine going by I'm not sure if it's being picked up.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, I heard it.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: But like, yeah, like, I know, like, I've gotten as a performer.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_00]: I've gotten like really bad headaches if I'm lowing day or things like they just been like the amount of tension in my body, in my jaw, in my head from like really tense scenes.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_00]: And I definitely felt a bit of that during this finale where like, I definitely felt the tension where I normally feel tension when I'm either real life stressed and emotionally like drained or as a performer, same thing.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_03]: yeah so it was crazy for me was it have you felt it was this is it was this like the worst you've ever felt it or you're like I felt this tight before it's this is like it's not new I would say as far as with TTRPG used that I've played
- 14:59[SPEAKER_03]: because we got pretty intense in electric states, isn't you?
- 15:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think this goes just a little further.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, yeah.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think especially because it was just two of us.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think it's more intimate when it's just a two-person co-op and with the amount of prep we did.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that was what I wanted.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_03]: We went hard on the prep, like we put so much hours into just building out the world in the characters.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, like we were walking in these character shoes and living their lives for so long, like it was so very easy to fall into bleed and feel that.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, as far as TTRPGs, this is the most intense I felt, as like as far as like that emotional attachment and tension, friction, fall out.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_03]: So if we can get into the characters and the bleed a little bit more, is there anything that we anything that we learned more about our characters, the more we played, specifically in the series, because I know we did the couple like practice sessions, you know, we did learn more about them, but it went even deeper in the series, I think.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_00]: It did.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_03]: I think the flashback episode was actually
- 16:16[SPEAKER_00]: solidifier like shaping of our characters even more yeah i would agree um something that i picked up on that i didn't think was going to be a trait of durians would be how cunning he was going to end up towards the end yeah i think he was going he was always going to be an intellectual but like
- 16:45[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like a two different things.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_00]: With cunning comes like opportunistic, opportunistic, sometimes manipulative, sometimes controlling.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_03]: Do you think that's a thing he's going to fall into more or is just in that moment?
- 17:06[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's potential for him to lean more into it because I think there's been a part of him that's wanted to deviate from the laws of the, you know, the laws of the, like, you know,
- 17:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the law of the seven, I think, because it's just there's just been so much wrong with it in his eye and what he's like, you know, experienced and believes, I think he would, especially because what he, what ends up happening with him, I think, whether he wants to or not, he has to lean into it, because that's what is going to hopefully keep him alive.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_00]: It's not going to be just how smart he is.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to have to be cunning.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to have to think in a way that is not always comfortable because it can be manipulative, controlling sometimes malicious, you know, cold and calculating like.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that's the world he grew up in though.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_03]: So he's probably leaning into what he knows.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_03]: And I think, you can't, because it's going to be a tougher world on his end.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_03]: It's good, you can't be like green or goalable or naive, I think.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_00]: No, I think that part, I think the part that part of him died and the dread not.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_03]: You think so?
- 18:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think the being naive is just done.
- 18:31[UNKNOWN]: I didn't find a naive.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_00]: No, not naive, but like the...
- 18:35[SPEAKER_03]: Hmm, uh, you know, what's the word when you just want the best, but it's like not realistic, like altruistic maybe?
- 18:46[SPEAKER_00]: Optimistic?
- 18:48[SPEAKER_03]: I guess so optimistic, but like, I found him.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_03]: Wanting, you know, you just like, oh, I just want the best.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_03]: So let's do it this way and you're like, okay, so it works for this side of things.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_03]: But then there's always a counterbalance, right?
- 19:03[SPEAKER_03]: So something has to go down because of this good thing that you're trying to do.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_00]: And it's true.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_00]: Then I guess altruists would probably be what it was.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'm just wondering if he realizes that.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_03]: Like, okay, let's say he does liberate all the reds.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_03]: What's the consequence of that?
- 19:17[SPEAKER_03]: What's just going to be interesting?
- 19:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_03]: Because it can't all be you.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_03]: sunshine and rainbows just because you liberated them.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_03]: That's good to be interesting.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_00]: It will absolutely be interesting for the British police at the prize do you?
- 19:32[SPEAKER_03]: Would you say?
- 19:33[SPEAKER_00]: Were there parts of Celine or things that came up as Celine that surprise do you?
- 19:38[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, I feel like I played her pretty spateful.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_00]: Um, parts of her.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_00]: You knew everything.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_03]: parts of her that's surprised me.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_03]: Um, oh, I, I don't know.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like, I feel like I was pretty faithful to her character.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_03]: I'm trying to think of anything that surprised me that I played her as.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, so maybe maybe surprise that she didn't kill Ross at the end.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that surprised me.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_03]: But only only a little bit, because at the end I was like, well her job, she's all a better job.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_03]: Finish the job and then it wasn't to kill him so that that was all, but then the other part was her like, she wanted to like shove it in, in Dorian's face.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hmm.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_00]: It was the desire to hurt.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it was she just wanted to pulverize him, so like,
- 20:35[SPEAKER_03]: Like I said, her hand was like on his neck and with the gauntlets, all the power would have just, oh yeah, full explosion.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_03]: That's what you wanted to do.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe I'm surprised that she didn't, because I could have, because we could have went there.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_00]: make out of.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't know where the story would have went after that.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_03]: So, are there any choices that we think redefined our characters?
- 21:08[SPEAKER_03]: Well, when I think of that, you work more cunning, especially in the last episode.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_03]: You read out a lot of moves, like sneaky stuff.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_03]: When I was talking to Ross, I was like, where the hell is Dorian?
- 21:22[SPEAKER_03]: Cause you were like, Dorian left, and I was like, what?
- 21:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Dorian went full.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_00]: Siphon, it's thought Siphon Ninja.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_03]: I thought at that moment, you had completely reneged on your deal to help her.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_03]: And like, it was betrayal at that moment.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_03]: I thought that's when you decided that Dorian's going to betray her.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_00]: Oh.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_03]: That's what I was fully going through my head when you were like, door, it's not here, and I was like, okay, so this is it.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_00]: This is it.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_00]: We're doing this.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_03]: This is what he does it.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_00]: This is it.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_00]: This is the thing.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_03]: But you know, you waited 15 minutes, and then you did it.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_03]: Um, what do we think about the roster deal?
- 22:05[SPEAKER_03]: Shouldn't have bit, should have been bigger or.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think we took an episode and a half to deal with the roster reveal between an actually two and a half episodes.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_00]: The end of the episode when we find out that Ross and Dorian were friends.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_00]: with the little tidbits in the previous episodes.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_00]: Like, just like maybe a couple of minutes of it learning.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_00]: To the full reveal to the flashback of the friendship, to the ramifications afterward, to the efforts to mitigate the collateral at the end.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_03]: Well, okay, so what about the reveal of Ross at the end?
- 22:46[SPEAKER_03]: Do you think people are going to think it's not realistic enough that there was nobody else in there with him?
- 22:53[SPEAKER_03]: Inside of that big, what cavernous space?
- 22:55[SPEAKER_03]: You remember that scene?
- 22:57[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's part of it, I think, is um, that was part of the Dorian's play was saying, you know, that there was definitely no one else there with him because, you know, that they were evacuating.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_00]: And
- 23:10[SPEAKER_00]: And I think, in a lot of ways, Ross was similar to Dorian, but was not cunning enough and was more altruistic and was more self-sacrificing.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_03]: I think he, I would agree that he's probably more self-sacrificing than Dorian.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_03]: And that makes sense to completely different up brains.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_03]: And even though you care for Redsmore, you're still gold.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm still, I'm not a red, it's yeah, so.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_03]: And so,
- 23:38[SPEAKER_00]: That scene between Sillingan and Ross was very fun to play.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, at the end.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that scene between the two of them was really cool.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_03]: I just remember being frustrated because I wanted to punch the talk right out of his mouth.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_03]: Because I was like, oh, this guy keeps talking.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_03]: I don't care.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_01]: I am.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: I have a job to do.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_03]: skip the cutscene skip the cutscene skip the cutscene skip the cutscene.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_03]: I thought it was really cool and I was like I'm gonna want to punch him
- 24:16[SPEAKER_03]: and then Dorian like, you, you didn't have to do that.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_03]: He's head almost turned around.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I, I like that scene too.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_03]: I, part of me, because I'm always like thinking about the audience and stuff, but I have to remind myself if we thought it was fun, if we thought it was cool, it's fine.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_03]: But I was thinking, oh, does this makes sense?
- 24:41[SPEAKER_03]: Is this makes sense that they're doing that?
- 24:44[SPEAKER_03]: Because I always want to be as realistic as possible.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_03]: And if he's the leader of all these reds, would they really just leave him?
- 24:53[SPEAKER_03]: Because you said, you're like, Dorian says, like, you could take me.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_03]: And then they just leave.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_00]: And they listen to you, like you're the leader now.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think with Ross giving himself up, he's already won.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_00]: He's already going to be seen as a martyr.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_03]: Is that the goal?
- 25:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think that is the goal.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that would possibly get a lot of reds to rise up.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it absolutely would.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_03]: If he's murdered.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hmm.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_03]: But hey, as of right now, he's still alive, everybody.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_00]: He's still alive and captive.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_03]: So who knows where the story goes?
- 25:38[SPEAKER_00]: Uh-huh.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_03]: Um, so, when the bleed hit the hardest, do you think it was all performative or where they're real emotions coming in as well?
- 25:54[SPEAKER_03]: Or do you need real emotions in that what that's what causes bleed?
- 26:00[SPEAKER_00]: I would say it's the latter.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_00]: I think you really get into an emotional state when you are experiencing it as a character.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_00]: And I think I talked to you about this before, we're like, you still try to keep that 10% actor or a 10% player in the back of your brain being like a suspicion.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_00]: Remember that.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_00]: But sometimes it's hard to hear that 10% actor because you are really living in the moment.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I was like, my heart rate was beating so fast because I was so in it, and there would be moments where we'd have to still play the game.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_03]: And you would start talking about mechanics.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_03]: Or I'd have to break out of Celine and go to an NPC who's not filling her feelings, and it was hard because it's like whip lash a little bit.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, jumping between them was was wild.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that that's what was that's what it's crazy Just behind the scenes.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_03]: I'm so insulin and the bleed is happening for sure and then you're like I'm gonna call What's his name?
- 26:59[SPEAKER_03]: Our our handler.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and then I And I'm like oh snap, okay.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_03]: I'm gonna have to be the handler snap out of saline
- 27:08[SPEAKER_03]: be Marin for a minute yeah be Marin okay hold on and then snap back to it's like it's a lot and especially when bleed is coming in it's like you know maybe we could have took a second or something but we were like so and it so it was very snappy they moved that decision to snap decision yeah okay you understand what I
- 27:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, you went from a very dramatic scene.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_00]: You had to literally go change costume real quick and come out as a completely different character, while feeling the previous, yeah.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_03]: Or when we'd ask, you'd ask me a question about mechanics or something because this game is about, like, you can try to be in characters much as possible with the system, but at some point you do have to talk about what decisions you're making mechanically.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, what roles you're making and then what the outcome will be.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_03]: Right, so you have to talk about it.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_03]: And so you would be making mechanical moves.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_03]: And I know that I have to snap out of it to like like co-work with you right now and I'm like, oh, okay, give me a second hold on.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_03]: I am extremely angry now, but it's not real.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_03]: It's so trippy.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_03]: It's so trippy.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_00]: Hard to agree.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, but fulfilling at the same time, it's weird.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_03]: Another thing that we had was this sibling dynamic, or just in general, the dynamics of love, duty, ideology.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_03]: Do you think the season, like, spoke to those themes?
- 28:40[SPEAKER_00]: Well, like, we set that up and I think it very much does.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just the two characters.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_00]: point of views of those things came to a breaking point.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_03]: I really would have liked it.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_03]: I really would have loved this Lucinda answered the phone.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, that, you know what, that was, that is a moment that surprised me.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_00]: Because the odds of Lucinda picking up versus Magnus was literally in Lucinda's favor and yet she did not pick up and Magnus did.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_00]: And they're like, well, guys, I'm playing the dad.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_03]: Well, that, that's what makes me think things happen for a reason.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_03]: when stuff like that, when you're like, I had the lowest chances of this happening and it did.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_03]: And I have the highest chances of something else at a minute.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_03]: But season two, we definitely got to get her in there.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_03]: That's one scene where I would like to do, like if we did like what's something that people do in between seasons, but it's not a fool.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_00]: Anterlude?
- 29:42[SPEAKER_03]: Is it interlude?
- 29:43[SPEAKER_03]: It's like an extra episode.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_03]: It's like a little something extra.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_00]: A filler?
- 29:47[SPEAKER_00]: Well not necessarily.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_00]: It's like as fillers aren't usually canon.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_03]: It's like a, I don't know, it's not a throw at either.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_03]: But anyway, there's sometimes we'll just do like little fun stuff between seasons.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_03]: I would love to do like a Lucinda thing.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_03]: Dive into that.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_03]: How she felt about both of us.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_03]: Because there was one point where
- 30:10[SPEAKER_03]: Well, okay, this was a good thing when Dorian was like, said something about how she's always hated me.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_02]: And that shocked me.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, oh my god, he feels that way.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_02]: That was, that was a crazy comment.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_02]: That was wild.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think as Dorian, I think he grew very attached to Magnus his father, but always knew that because of the choice he made to keep like the mechanical pieces,
- 30:36[SPEAKER_00]: and the way the Lucinda is all about like decorum and appearance and how you look, but she would always have a resentment for that.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_00]: And in turn, as a child, you think, oh, it's not the choice of making that as a result that I'm being presented.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_03]: yeah yeah and kids can feel like you like you don't have to say anything but there is there's an aura about you or a vibe that you'll still give off and you don't even have to say anything and kids can know immediately they'll pick it up immediately how just like your aura of a vibe when you walk into a room if it's aggressive kids will notice that immediately
- 31:17[SPEAKER_03]: And so if she felt any resentment, I think you would that would have been like a little seed planted in you Festering for years and years you.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_03]: She never has to say I hate you.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_03]: No I don't think she does though or maybe I just don't want her to If you don't know if she didn't pick up the phone.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_03]: Oh Okay, if she picked up the phone Come on, okay, just humor me.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_03]: What just one thing she would have said Why are you calling this late?
- 31:47[SPEAKER_00]: uh, though she wouldn't, I don't think she would have been bothered by that.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think she would have been She would have said bothered Yeah, yeah Yeah, but it was she would be more because she's very career oriented.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think she would have been like If you have to ask me for advice, then you are already failing Ooh You're right Yeah, one of those Goddammit, she would say that Yeah, she would
- 32:12[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that whole if you're calling me, you're already, you've already lost.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_03]: God damn it, she has a good convex.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_03]: That was good.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, are there any scenes that still sit with you emotionally?
- 32:26[SPEAKER_03]: That we haven't talked about?
- 32:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think a scene that still sits with me is the big, like, the, not, well, obviously the end.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_00]: But we've talked a lot about the end.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_00]: And but I think a scene that sits with me a lot is the scene where the lie comes out.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, that's the end.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_03]: That's the end of episode three.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_00]: The end of that.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_00]: And then the fallout of that we're dory and is trying to explain us up like silly.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_00]: What refuses to listen.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_00]: And but it's very understandable where it's like the person who has lied wants to explain it.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_00]: whether it's for good reason or not, it's still a lie.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_00]: And it still hurts that other person.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_00]: So as a player and a person, Michael felt bad, felt guilty, being like trying to really trying to explain, this is why this lie had to be there.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_00]: And went through multiple stages of that, we're like, there are points when he was trying to be,
- 33:34[SPEAKER_00]: trying to like be calm and logical.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_00]: Then he lashed out.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_00]: Then he said hurtful words.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_00]: Then he used bargaining.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what made it work.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what's like unfortunately was the one that worked.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_03]: And he and he also brought up.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_03]: He also brought up her secret.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_03]: with the violet, and I was like, you know, it's not the same.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think, yes, I guess episode five is the crash.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_03]: I believe.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_03]: I'm getting some mixed up.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's the end of episode three with the truth as we've
- 34:20[SPEAKER_03]: So yes, yeah, okay, so the end of episode four and then episode five is a flashback, and so episode six is not even that's when we finally resolve it We had a whole flashback to do before we had to resolve it.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_03]: I think that was a really good decision I think originally we were only going to do six episodes, but I really was like we need we need something more I feel like we were rushing a little bit
- 34:46[SPEAKER_00]: agreed.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_00]: We needed more space and I think it was a good move to push to add two more episodes worth of content.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and I guess my I really love the like the flashback with Celine, but I had a lot of fun playing as Ross with with Dorian and him.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_04]: That wasn't great.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_03]: It was it just felt so good like and it was very thematic of just the entire series and it felt good to be in somebody's shoes who's like,
- 35:19[SPEAKER_03]: a role that I would have actually usually played, like the downcast person is trying to rebel and live up, but I'm playing someone who doesn't care, and still needs to go through heavy conditioning.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_00]: She needs a good re-wiring of the brain.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_03]: So it was good to play someone who could have been another character archetype that I played.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_00]: And who knows, maybe Ross can get to Celine before she breaks him.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_02]: Or maybe Celine gets to Ross.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_02]: Or they fall in love on the ship back to perfect.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_02]: I'm kidding.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that was a really good scene that I think it was played really well.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_03]: I felt very genuine and honest, like two friends
- 36:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, no more games, time for real.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and it was very, it was like you guys were playing an actual game, but we were also talking about the game of life, like I think the episode is so much like symbolism in it.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_03]: And that's why I really really like it when he's like this is this is the not the Queen's Gambit, but this is the final game this is the Fool's Gambit and Ross is like I'm I can't talk anymore.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_03]: We can't talk anymore.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_03]: Like you can't talk to your father anymore.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_03]: It is this time is up.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_03]: And I like that, I like that so much.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, let's go to the next little section that I have on my notes about behind the scenes, the creative process.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_03]: Do we have like a favorite?
- 37:08[SPEAKER_03]: Oh well, I mean, I'm editing it.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_03]: So, do you have like a favorite kind of production or editing decision?
- 37:17[SPEAKER_03]: You've heard some stuff at this point, like music pacing on the ons.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_03]: Is there anything that you're like, this sounds cool so far from what I listen to?
- 37:27[SPEAKER_00]: You have a very excellent talent for finding the right undertones and our underscores for scenes.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_04]: I love music.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_00]: It's very, very apparent that you are passionate about it and attaching it, and I'm also someone who enjoys great music and ambience to things.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_00]: So always has been inspiring and impressive.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_00]: And I, from what I've listened to so far, even like from some of the earlier stuff, just like,
- 37:55[SPEAKER_00]: You know how to take a scene and just, I guess, give it more dimension with the music.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_00]: We're like, it's not just the words or the narration that is giving the immersion, but the music, the sounds, also give that immersion.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think they go hand in, I think it's part of storytelling, like, the story and more of the story is made in the edit, I think.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_03]: Like we're just doing one part and then you take it behind the scenes and you add on to the story.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_03]: Don't add too much.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_03]: You don't want to.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_03]: You don't want to flesh away.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_03]: What we've already created.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_03]: An editing choice.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_03]: I think I sent it to you was a clip of Dorian and Ravory.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_03]: I was gonna say remedy is revering, right?
- 38:40[SPEAKER_00]: Ravory.
- 38:41[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_03]: because a moment where she went to go give him a hug and I added in like a so far this that scene I believe it's episode three where we're doing more investigation we're in the blue district and you you task her to help and so far the music has been like tense investigationy mystery and then it kind of just stops for a second and then I add in like a soft piano
- 39:08[SPEAKER_03]: Because I imagine things like a movie, so I can see him standing there shocked and then you hear a key of the piano.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_03]: And it's very soft and it's calm because he doesn't feel this type of love that much.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_03]: And it's not the time for investigation he could have even been silent.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_03]: I just like the sound of a soft guitar string,
- 39:37[SPEAKER_00]: Soft keys.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I also like that.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it was really nice and then I did add some stuff.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_03]: You haven't heard yet But I did add some bleep some bloops for Your octopus friend.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_03]: What does he?
- 39:48[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, Icarus.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I'm so excited.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so he's like it's it sounds like he's replying to you And it's incredible.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_00]: I can't wait.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_00]: I love Icarus so much Icarus is great.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_03]: You're a little than there's the crab.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, Ajax.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_03]: Ajax
- 40:06[SPEAKER_00]: They've looked at her, but before the drama really hit, those two got to do some really cool stuff.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_03]: They did.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_03]: And do you have ideas for another asset?
- 40:17[SPEAKER_03]: If you're going to grab another one?
- 40:21[SPEAKER_00]: I've been thinking, and I think for survival ability and things like that, I know he would probably enhance my augmentation and probably when you enhance your augmentation card, you create another augment.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay, like a separate augment so you could and I'm like you're like turning into Adam's masher Yeah, yeah A little a little bit I'm turning more robotic To survive and also to be like the bridge between Humans and reds the sky Okay
- 41:00[SPEAKER_00]: And that, and I'm still attached to the battle armor because I think that might protect him from Celine.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_03]: Oh.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_03]: Oh.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_00]: Why not that's really Celine, but probably from.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_03]: Nope, Celine.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_00]: Celine.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, I have ideas.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if I want to say it now.
- 41:16[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if I wanted to be a surprise or not because I have a really cool idea for the next asset she's going to grab.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, okay.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_03]: It's a little scary.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I just gave these ones that I was thinking about.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_00]: But if you want to keep it a secret, that's fine.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_03]: I have it too, okay.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, do you want to know?
- 41:33[SPEAKER_00]: You know, even if you tell me it's not like I'm going to like, that's it.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to counter this or something like that.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_00]: I know how I work.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_03]: I have a lot of ideas for season two.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_03]: One of them is that there is a wanted poster.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_03]: A high reward for Dorian all over the city.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_03]: All over the city.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_03]: um but uh so so I want to get um uh blade master or a companion and I'm going to get a uh but blade master I want to get uh phase knives that she can shoot out with her abilities.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_00]: Ooh that's cool.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_03]: They're like sharp uh daggers, sleek, silent blades that are, I think stored in her gauntlets.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I love that.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, it's thinking about that.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_03]: But also a companion bought.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_03]: I kind of like a, but it's a bird.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_03]: So it looks like the shape of the Calvara symbol almost.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_04]: Ooh, yeah.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_03]: Attaching from her body.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_03]: It's about the size of a hawk.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_03]: and that would be her companion, but like fold until like a cross shape, configuration, and then like can go into her armor, and then when she activates it, detaches, and then flies above.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that's rad.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's rad itself.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_03]: Hopefully you can fire out some small sharp knives, something, and you end, Dorian said it, he's like, you're, he kept saying to episode it, you're a weapon, you're a weapon.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_03]: That's what Roth kept saying.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_00]: Ross, Ross kept calling you calling Selena weapon.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, I just remember somebody kept saying it.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_03]: And then she's like, okay.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_03]: If I'm a weapon, I'm going 110%.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_00]: Oh no, Ross got to her.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, oh, snap.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_02]: I guess he did.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, is there anything else that we learned?
- 43:28[SPEAKER_03]: Like, let's just like behind the scenes and like prep-wise, this whole type of series.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_03]: Is there anything that...
- 43:34[SPEAKER_03]: You learn that you want to take into your other games in terms of like how things are structured?
- 43:41[SPEAKER_00]: Something that I really enjoyed and that I definitely would take moving forward is the both the different game modules you introduced and then stuff we did to really flesh out Hyperion City with the... Oh, Hunter.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_00]: I can't believe it's not street magic.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_00]: My Chris Goll, like all this really gave so much more life to some of these locations that we had, said it was easy for us to paint word pictures when we did scenes in those places.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, a hundred percent and we did it for another campaign that we're gonna do and it just it's it's it's great Like microscope is I don't think we did Microsoft Microsoft not for this none of but we did street magic for this Yeah, I don't know if we needed because Starford has its own kind of like history the truth is like It's own version, but it didn't have like a flesh out city kind of
- 44:29[SPEAKER_00]: So I shot city, but like also like create these little vignettes and like these other like little NPCs and these little like locations or something within the location that are important for some reason and we ended up using some of them.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but I'm sorry, did you say Street Magic?
- 44:45[SPEAKER_03]: Like, you go so in-depth, and each location has an NPC, and then there's a rumor, and then you flesh out like what people feel about this district, and it, uh, it is so much fun.
- 44:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 44:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't have so much fun, um, but yeah, world building stuff.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_03]: I want to do that like, before campaigns, almost going forward.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and not only is it great to fill the world, but I feel like it's also a good way to start playing with the people you're going to tell the story with.
- 45:15[SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, it makes it all very like the collaborative feeling that you get is so instant to like as soon as like microscope was a really good example.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_03]: Like we were just flowing off of each other and our ideas and each era.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_03]: So yes, highly recommend world building tools.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_03]: Starport has good world building tools already, but yeah, it has a built-in, but we just found some extra stuff and it really gave us a really good foundation.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_03]: Is there anything else?
- 45:53[SPEAKER_03]: This is a very specific situation because this is eight episodes.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_03]: It's a little bit higher caliber than a regular actual play.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I will say that I think
- 46:06[SPEAKER_00]: Our practice sessions really helped us establish the character's relationships.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_00]: So we came in Episode 1, having a very strong character relationship.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_00]: That was very natural and believable and felt like then, yeah.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_03]: I think we could have pulled it off.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_00]: I think we could have, but I think it certainly helped that we had that, because we had the character's voices.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_00]: We had the way they walked, the way they talked, and no.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_03]: It really did help.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_03]: Do you think that's a thing that people should, sometimes you just want to run a one shot, you know?
- 46:42[SPEAKER_03]: But do you think this is a good, for actual play specifically?
- 46:47[SPEAKER_03]: Do you think this is a good thing to do?
- 46:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think, yeah, I think it is.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's a good way to play with the ideas that you have before you start recording, so that you as the player or the GM are both in this case, can decide, I like the way this character speaks, or I don't like it, I want to change it up,
- 47:07[SPEAKER_00]: mechanic works with this character.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think I'm more passionate about this approach.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_00]: So you could have those tweaks like having a test run
- 47:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think it's a lot better than figuring out by episode three of the actual play Like the actual like recorded because you can you can make all the tweaks that you want like before And I know it's a lot of it's a lot of prep before hand and I know sometimes you just want to get to the game because the game is so fun But I mean we have fun with the prep side.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah
- 47:38[SPEAKER_00]: I have also listened to actual plays where people change their character completely, as the campaign's going and everyone just like, at part of it is a joke, but the part of it me is being like, why are you doing this?
- 47:49[SPEAKER_03]: Is it, is it the person who made the joke character?
- 47:53[SPEAKER_00]: Somewhat, yeah.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_03]: Sometimes that will happen.
- 47:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, they'll make like Dickface McClown.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_03]: Episode six are like, well, it's not fun.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_03]: I'm gonna find any more I'm gonna actually play serious like Which is what I should have done So The other things that I have I put how trust and communication shape the tone.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's a big one.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_03]: I think
- 48:24[SPEAKER_03]: because we played together, well, the main other game that we played together was, well, Hanashira.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_00]: We played Hanashira.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_03]: And then we, electric state was the first one.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_03]: So kind of built up from there.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_03]: So, all that experience, what do you think it did for this game?
- 48:44[SPEAKER_00]: What it did for this game is it from release from my end.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_00]: It allowed me to know that I completely trust you
- 48:54[SPEAKER_00]: be able to bounce ideas off of, provide ideas for me to bounce off of, and to communicate when things are going well, or when things need to pivot, like when we were like reprapping too much, where we should pivot.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_00]: And it made me feel absolutely 100% comfortable to play in that world with you.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_00]: And also, because we really started with something like, with electric
- 49:22[SPEAKER_03]: very brutal we didn't like we jumped headfirst in yeah and i think it's because we'll first you already have experience i i don't think electric state if you're going to play it how i think it's intended to be played i don't know if it's like four year ttrpg newbie you know no it is these are some intense themes um in that game and i'll see the first one we played
- 49:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, and I'll say, it goes back even to the first little like intro session we did together where we introduced my electric state character, where we filled that whole scene with people, places, things, moments.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_00]: Mostly from scratch, so the fact that we were going to do that, but with actual prep gave me a lot of excitement.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and then also, and then we did liminal horror, another intense game where I beat the crap out of you.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I genuinely love listening back to that series, that little mini.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_00]: That liminal horror was so much fun.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_03]: That was so fun.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, we've had all this stuff, and I think.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_03]: it helps for sure and I hope it comes across in this series like the chemistry that's there, the organic like time that we have a spent together and I hope shows that like we're not new to each other.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_03]: I mean we're not old because we met this year and I can't remember the date we met to the fort to save my life.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_03]: Was it this year or was this year?
- 50:59[SPEAKER_00]: It was very early.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_00]: I want to say
- 51:05[SPEAKER_00]: Or was it November?
- 51:07[SPEAKER_00]: Was it November when we first met?
- 51:08[SPEAKER_03]: And then we, we could look at it.
- 51:10[SPEAKER_03]: We could look at it, we could look at it.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure we could look at this project.
- 51:13[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's how big it's been a year yet.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_00]: It has not been a year yet, I don't think.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_00]: But we, but the stuff that we've been through has kind of like streamlined the trust factor just like in way of, yes, the trust factor, the play factor, the like collaboration, the, like the nurturing, like co-artist factor, like all of that.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_03]: So I think that is another thing that if people are going to create something like this or tell these types of intense stories where bleed is going to happen.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_03]: Like trust is a very good one.
- 51:48[SPEAKER_03]: You really need to feel comfortable with the person you're going to be collaborating with.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because you're going to very vulnerable places and you have to be
- 51:58[SPEAKER_03]: and communicate and if something is making you feel uncomfortable, just say it and hopefully you're playing with someone who is comfortable enough and flexible enough to pivot and be understanding about certain things.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, um, is there anything that we would experiment with next time like format sound sound well, that's me, um, or the structure of it anything, though I guess we learned like prep is that we were prepping to it was too heavy handed.
- 52:34[SPEAKER_03]: So next time it's just, well, but we found a good fix.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_00]: We found a happy medium between like knowing what to pull back and to know like not to like,
- 52:44[SPEAKER_00]: not to put the field goal like in the in an exact spot, but you just like put the field goal within a range that's like where we kind of figured it out.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_03]: And like if we're speaking specifically what we did was we had recording sessions that were split into two.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_03]: So we would record block A and we would take a 15 minute break record block B.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_03]: And for each block we would just have an episode goal.
- 53:12[SPEAKER_03]: like a beat to hit and that was it before we had too many things up you know we want to have this scene this scene in this person is going to do this or say this and it was like we want this choice to happen yeah yeah and it was like too much just have the goal at the top of the session and then just try to meet that yeah by the end of it strong emphasis on the word try because you never know
- 53:35[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but I think we were both responsible about the time and I think that's another thing that's good is have someone is going to take that time seriously as well
- 53:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, that is huge especially for actually being conscious of time and how long it takes and I think Even though both of us were like really trying to like damn we got to get that timer started at a different point or something like that We were both pretty conscious of like how long it was going even when in the heat of these like emotional seeming like okay, we know we're in like the last 10 minutes of this but boys boy, am I sweaty?
- 54:05[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think I heard Brennan Lee Mulligan say like what makes it an actual play is like the time the time You know is like yes, it is it's the countdown That's what makes this what makes it an actual play because God dammit my eyes and always on the clock and like the lower right of my computer
- 54:25[SPEAKER_00]: the thousand.
- 54:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 54:27[SPEAKER_03]: But I think you should be, but also let's say you're not doing actual play.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_03]: You should be mindful of people's time, you know, maybe somebody in the break, maybe it's our three and a half.
- 54:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and people are people have been sitting, people need to stretch, people are tired, hungry, when all are food.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 54:42[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, like me personally, I kind of tap out mentally after like our three.
- 54:48[SPEAKER_03]: So just, even if I was just at a home game with people, I'd be like, I'm kind of, you guys, my brain is mushy now.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_03]: I got it.
- 54:55[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, let's take a break.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_03]: Um, but with an actual play, it's even even more heightened, because you're thinking about time, but you're also thinking about what that goal that you need to hit by the end.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_00]: So, in addition to all the production stuff, like everything happening all that once, in addition to the clock.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so having a good collaborator to help out with that.
- 55:17[SPEAKER_03]: having a good partner.
- 55:18[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, you're going to take this, focus on this, I'll focus on this, blah, blah, blah.
- 55:22[SPEAKER_03]: Which I think we did really well.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_03]: We took each, we had our part that we played.
- 55:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we each had our parts, and we each took the helmet certain points, and then they'll go good.
- 55:39[SPEAKER_00]: No, I don't say, and then there were times we would hold each whole one hand of the helm and just go together.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_03]: So, yes.
- 55:46[SPEAKER_03]: And then episode eight, we were both...
- 55:49[SPEAKER_03]: I was pulling down this way, and then you were pulling down this way.
- 55:51[SPEAKER_03]: And then then I'm just broke, actually.
- 55:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 55:54[SPEAKER_00]: And then it broke.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_00]: As we always knew it was gonna.
- 55:57[SPEAKER_03]: We knew.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_03]: Somebody did ask me, like, how are we... Like, technically, how are we handling NPCs?
- 56:05[SPEAKER_03]: How would you explain that?
- 56:07[SPEAKER_00]: I would say I think we became very good at knowing when to provide one.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 56:15[SPEAKER_00]: When one character was doing a scene or when another character was doing it, then we were both very conscious of when to provide one.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_00]: And knowing like they didn't need to have a, not all of them had to have fully three dimensional complex things.
- 56:26[SPEAKER_00]: Some of them had to just be someone you spoke to, your questioning a guide.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_00]: And then when we had more complex NPCs like Ross or K.L.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_00]: or Revery or Magnus Or whatever a spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A spell or an A
- 56:57[SPEAKER_00]: but with our complex characters, I think we are both very respectful of the others, like depictions of that character, like we both had an agreement of what Magnus would behave, like how we would speak.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_00]: We're both an agreement of how our handler guy would be, and how he would behave.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_00]: And then when KEL was an NPC, you created to be very important to his sleep.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_00]: So I asked, like what?
- 57:18[SPEAKER_00]: What ways can you describe this character to me so I can really embody this character so that it is satisfying for you who created them but also as the character to play with them.
- 57:28[SPEAKER_00]: And you did the same thing for me with Ross.
- 57:30[SPEAKER_03]: And then, like you said, there was moments where Celine was like, investigating, then I was like, what we did really well is that because we were very locked in, and it's only us too, so we kind of have to be.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_03]: So what we did really well is that I would say, I see someone or something, and you would immediately be like, oh, and her name is this, and she looks like this, and doo-doo-doo.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_03]: And then I would do the same for you in different situations when you would walk into the room and you say Reversy here and I'd be like I would I would know in my mind.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yep.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_03]: I'm every like we would just know immediately and that's it was an offer given.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah
- 58:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and after a while we didn't really, we would ask like, hey, how should I play kale?
- 58:14[SPEAKER_03]: What's revery like, what's Ross like?
- 58:16[SPEAKER_03]: But it kind of just became like second half after a while.
- 58:20[SPEAKER_03]: When I need to talk to a blue like off to the street, I'd be like, so I see two blues that are out eating lunch, and I'm going to approach them.
- 58:28[SPEAKER_03]: And we didn't stop to be like, hey, can you play those NPCs?
- 58:32[SPEAKER_00]: No, it was already, I was like, well, yeah, you're the PC in this moment, like the spotlight's on Saline at the moment, so I'm going to step in and play whatever else Saline needs to get through this scene until it's either resolved or repivate to another scene.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_03]: and vice versa.
- 58:48[SPEAKER_03]: Flashback scenes, we reach others, key NPCs, and it worked out really well.
- 58:53[SPEAKER_03]: Or if you're talking to anybody, if you're trying to get a drink, or you're in a, because I remember editing it, but Dorian was in a, um, probably like a hover taxi, and you were talking to the taxi driver.
- 59:04[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_03]: And then I was like, I did like a couple lines as a taxi driver.
- 59:08[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it was a easy perfect.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_03]: Because you started talking to them.
- 59:11[SPEAKER_03]: So I go, yeah, he's not going to talk to himself.
- 59:13[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to be the test start.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 59:16[SPEAKER_03]: So that was one thing, one little technical thing, that we did talk about actually in session zero, because I was wondering, how do we want to play this out?
- 59:24[SPEAKER_03]: So again, session zero is important.
- 59:25[SPEAKER_03]: Communication, get all the technical stuff out.
- 59:29[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 59:29[SPEAKER_00]: Session zero is mandatory.
- 59:31[SPEAKER_03]: mandatory.
- 59:34[SPEAKER_03]: Even if we've played together, so the sessions here really wasn't about like lines and bells, per se.
- 59:41[SPEAKER_03]: I think it was like all technical.
- 59:44[SPEAKER_00]: It was mostly technical scheduling, some logistics and like also like early like creativity, nuggets being planted.
- 59:51[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 59:53[SPEAKER_03]: Um, but yeah.
- 59:54[SPEAKER_03]: So now we're going to go into our final segment.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to talk about season two a little bit in the ideas, but we also have questions for each other.
- 1:00:02[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 1:00:03[SPEAKER_03]: So we have three questions.
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to ask back and forth.
- 1:00:07[SPEAKER_03]: I have I have a
- 1:00:13[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, um, who wants to go first?
- 1:00:17[SPEAKER_00]: I was going to, uh, I'm going to go right through and I'll ask you the first question.
- 1:00:20[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 1:00:22[SPEAKER_00]: Three-year-time walking in Celine's shoes.
- 1:00:26[SPEAKER_00]: Uh-huh.
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_00]: Was there anything that Celine chose to do that Maya disagreed with?
- 1:00:34[SPEAKER_00]: Like, was there any time when after a scene where Celine made a choice that you Maya was like, I can't believe I did this?
- 1:00:41[SPEAKER_00]: Or did you feel like, or did you feel like she did exactly what you wanted her to do?
- 1:00:48[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:00:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like was there moments where like Celine took over as far as like choices that were made Versus like what my you wanted.
- 1:00:56[SPEAKER_00]: Like are there any choices you made as Celine that You question now that you wish you could go back and change and
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 1:01:03[SPEAKER_03]: I know immediately.
- 1:01:05[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:01:05[SPEAKER_03]: It was after the crash out.
- 1:01:08[SPEAKER_03]: First, enduring decks in that collateral damage horrible, felt horrible.
- 1:01:15[SPEAKER_03]: But it was realistic for her in that moment.
- 1:01:18[SPEAKER_03]: And then same episode when she said like when she said that she got a threat in Dorian and said I will end you.
- 1:01:26[SPEAKER_03]: And
- 1:01:27[SPEAKER_03]: and then the Calvars line, that was really mean.
- 1:01:31[SPEAKER_03]: To me, I felt like that was so mean to you.
- 1:01:35[SPEAKER_03]: And I knew, she that she didn't mean it.
- 1:01:38[SPEAKER_03]: And that's why in the next episode, well, yeah, next episode.
- 1:01:42[SPEAKER_03]: That was a little bit of patching, patching, I was like, sorry, that's probably a little bit of me coming through.
- 1:01:47[SPEAKER_03]: You apologize, this is what she's like, I would never hurt you, but I think she, that I think that's true for her, but yeah.
- 1:01:54[SPEAKER_03]: So that's the first thing that comes to mind
- 1:01:57[SPEAKER_03]: I definitely, those are the two things that I didn't agree with, but made sense for her character.
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_03]: Those were rough.
- 1:02:06[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so when did the sibling dynamic feel most real to you?
- 1:02:13[SPEAKER_00]: There were a couple of moments for me.
- 1:02:17[SPEAKER_00]: One moment where it really resonated with me was the tween episodes, the earlier parts of the episodes when Dorian first got when I pulled that first like fail with a match where Dorian's part of his eye exploded and he needed treatment and he needed care and
- 1:02:37[SPEAKER_00]: the split of like saline wanting to help and doing everything she could have then also at certain points being helpless and not knowing what to do but wanting to help that felt so very human real to me being like you know when you you know when you care about somebody and you're like they're in the operating room and you don't know what to do to help so you're just going to stand there and watch and just like almost feel like paralysis so that's a very real when it's like you know I could I could see myself being
- 1:03:02[SPEAKER_00]: at the ER, you know, if my brother wasn't like car accident or something, like not knowing what to do, but just be there for him, get him what he wants when he can, like go get him a Coca-Cola or a snack if he wants it because I can't, I can't put an IV in or out or like you, or someone like that, but that felt very real to me.
- 1:03:18[SPEAKER_00]: And in episode seven, with the off the apology and the two of them talking in the room, we both have siblings.
- 1:03:27[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure you've probably had those moments like, you've had a lash out with your sibling.
- 1:03:31[SPEAKER_00]: Later on, you're both just kind of quiet.
- 1:03:33[SPEAKER_00]: He's been like, sorry for whatever.
- 1:03:35[SPEAKER_03]: Did he?
- 1:03:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:03:36[SPEAKER_03]: You wanna slice a pizza?
- 1:03:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, once I speak to you, you wanna play, you wanna watch a movie?
- 1:03:41[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:03:42[SPEAKER_00]: You wanna watch TV?
- 1:03:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's sort of like, that's how siblings apologize.
- 1:03:45[SPEAKER_00]: They have to do an activity or something.
- 1:03:48[SPEAKER_00]: and then that breaks the ice to go back to the thing that caused them to fight.
- 1:03:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:03:56[SPEAKER_03]: But they tried.
- 1:04:05[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, where are any connections others in Dorian that you think that you would have wanted to have more time to explore during this campaign that if there were to be a second campaign that you'd want to explore.
- 1:04:19[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I have, we kind of answered a little bit of it, but I guess this is more in depth because this is something I wrote down is like, you know, because we both really fleshed out a lot of different characters that some of them didn't even get to make it into the seat to see it.
- 1:04:30[SPEAKER_03]: I know.
- 1:04:31[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:04:33[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, Lucinda Calvara's is number one.
- 1:04:36[SPEAKER_03]: I would have, but we just haven't of time.
- 1:04:39[SPEAKER_03]: And would love definitely if there's a season two, definitely got to get her in episode one, you know.
- 1:04:48[SPEAKER_03]: But also like her mentor, she has her kinetic
- 1:04:56[SPEAKER_03]: He's very much like a father figure to her, like he's kind of like the male version of her mother, so that's probably why she likes him.
- 1:05:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, like so much.
- 1:05:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:05:05[SPEAKER_03]: So him or her like horrible her rival.
- 1:05:09[SPEAKER_00]: The rival who did who was in the prequel?
- 1:05:12[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, he was in like those pro-log sessions and lots of fun.
- 1:05:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it was fun to play it.
- 1:05:18[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, when you were playing him, I was like, oh, this guy sucks, I love it.
- 1:05:22[SPEAKER_03]: Mm-hmm.
- 1:05:23[SPEAKER_03]: And that guy is just so messy, and he's always ready to like, um, it just sucks that he also has kinetic abilities, and but he uses it to show Bowdoin, and for fear, and, um, and blackmail and stuff like that.
- 1:05:39[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, you know, could have been cool to see him too.
- 1:05:43[SPEAKER_00]: He'd be the first one, he'll be the first one to rub it in Celine's face, but this scandal.
- 1:05:56[SPEAKER_03]: There's no way, he's not a, um, Celine's an enforcer, but he's, he's not, but in any gala event, he's there.
- 1:06:05[SPEAKER_03]: And he, you know, it's, you never say it out, right?
- 1:06:08[SPEAKER_03]: Like you won't say it up front, but it's the, the backhanded compliment, it's the, that smug look on his face.
- 1:06:14[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, we all know the type.
- 1:06:17[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, no, he would be great.
- 1:06:19[SPEAKER_03]: You love to hate him, you love to hate him.
- 1:06:21[SPEAKER_03]: um but yeah so those are those are the big ones that we'll see uh a good one this one this is gonna be hard okay if if they'd had one more scene together what would you want it to be?
- 1:06:38[SPEAKER_00]: Oh damn that is a hard question.
- 1:06:41[SPEAKER_01]: I know I have no idea mine is blank
- 1:06:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think I see it as, together like physically together.
- 1:06:55[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm.
- 1:06:55[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm.
- 1:06:55[SPEAKER_00]: Nicey, my brain goes to... Dory and on the ship flying away.
- 1:06:59[SPEAKER_00]: While Silly is waiting for her ship to power back on from the EMP.
- 1:07:05[SPEAKER_00]: with an unconscious Ross, and Dex, and I think I could see Dorian trying to send a message to put like send a hologram of himself to try and talk to her.
- 1:07:18[SPEAKER_00]: But also I see him not hitting the send button.
- 1:07:22[SPEAKER_00]: Like he's like, I've done so much harm and it's still so fresh.
- 1:07:27[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:07:27[SPEAKER_00]: And not only that, but then his brain's like, I'm also giving away my location.
- 1:07:32[SPEAKER_03]: I think like I could see his ham like hovering over, send, but then all the consequences start coming up.
- 1:07:41[SPEAKER_00]: I kind of see like this moment of like him looking at the world, like, like, pre-tores, pre-torm?
- 1:07:49[SPEAKER_03]: Perfectus.
- 1:07:50[SPEAKER_00]: Perfectus.
- 1:07:51[SPEAKER_00]: I sort of see him looking at perfectus from the ship as he's leaving at the same time seeing Celine looking at
- 1:08:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but one is going towards, I mean, we're both going towards something, but tell a lady bit stuff.
- 1:08:08[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:08:09[SPEAKER_03]: Um, okay.
- 1:08:09[SPEAKER_03]: I would, okay.
- 1:08:10[SPEAKER_03]: Now I did have idea, but I think like a good flashback scene of them together, actually, when they were younger at at at at at the beach, oh yeah, the beach episode.
- 1:08:22[SPEAKER_03]: That would have been, that if we had another scene, you know, it doesn't have to be current.
- 1:08:27[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 1:08:29[SPEAKER_03]: We could still do that.
- 1:08:30[SPEAKER_03]: Listen, no one's gonna stop us.
- 1:08:32[SPEAKER_00]: That's true.
- 1:08:33[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, that was my second question for you.
- 1:08:37[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, this is an interesting one, because I was curious about this, because I went back to me thinking, although the dice were really in our favor a lot of the time.
- 1:08:47[SPEAKER_00]: So, I thought about this was during your crash out episode.
- 1:08:55[SPEAKER_00]: If I, if Dorian had, if Dorian had happened to fail at all his roles to try and, like, keep Celine from leaving, what would have happened of Celine had left the facility in your mind?
- 1:09:10[SPEAKER_00]: Like, what if you had wildly succeeded to leave and I had wildly failed to stop you?
- 1:09:15[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I don't know.
- 1:09:17[SPEAKER_03]: A kind of worked out well, narratively, that my role is kind of like either misses or weak hits.
- 1:09:26[SPEAKER_03]: I was just playing it as someone who wanted to get out immediately.
- 1:09:30[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 1:09:31[SPEAKER_03]: She probably would have went to the gym or something.
- 1:09:33[SPEAKER_03]: She just needed time.
- 1:09:34[SPEAKER_03]: Like she needed time a way to think.
- 1:09:37[SPEAKER_03]: But you wanted to like cage her in and for sort of sit down and talk.
- 1:09:41[SPEAKER_03]: She was like, I don't want to look at you right now.
- 1:09:45[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but I'm almost thinking about like, you know, the grace we're there, the meat, the media was on the way like all this stuff was happening.
- 1:09:53[SPEAKER_03]: I know, in that moment though, she wasn't.
- 1:09:56[SPEAKER_00]: She was thinking about that.
- 1:09:57[SPEAKER_03]: If I, if she would have got away, I, I, I'll say but who knows because my answer might be different in the moment, but I'm so far away from it now, I'll say for right now that she would have went to the gym, she would have patched up decks and then just beat the living daylight out of some mannequins or something and just practice until she was bleeding and so sore and she couldn't stand anymore.
- 1:10:27[SPEAKER_00]: I'm always curious about the what ifs if the dice were actually like for you were against doing those moments.
- 1:10:31[SPEAKER_00]: So I was that was the one the big what if that was like what if she got now in this of because it did work out that like you meant we ministerial just well enough to stay there to leave and for Dorian to wipe all the data.
- 1:10:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:10:45[SPEAKER_00]: We know is what happened.
- 1:10:47[SPEAKER_03]: Although that's all moot now, but yeah, yeah, I mean, does matter anymore, but we don't we don't know that in the moment.
- 1:10:55[SPEAKER_00]: That's true.
- 1:10:55[SPEAKER_03]: We don't.
- 1:10:59[SPEAKER_03]: How did playing Dorian stretch you as a storyteller or performer?
- 1:11:07[SPEAKER_00]: Dorian playing Dorian forced me into a situation where as a like in plays, I've played characters that have hurt other people.
- 1:11:23[SPEAKER_00]: It's, you know, whether it's classic play, modern play, musical, it happens.
- 1:11:27[SPEAKER_00]: but with this level of backing behind it, this level of prep behind it, and those final few episodes where knowing that Dorian had to pull the trigger on betrayal, and sitting with that, that was an interesting stretch to be like,
- 1:11:50[SPEAKER_00]: It was like a check-ups gun, the sort of thing.
- 1:11:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:11:53[SPEAKER_00]: No, it was going to happen.
- 1:11:54[SPEAKER_00]: It's inevitable.
- 1:11:56[SPEAKER_00]: Then we set it up in the back, the flashback episode.
- 1:11:59[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to do it.
- 1:12:01[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we set it up in session three or four.
- 1:12:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we set it up three or four.
- 1:12:06[SPEAKER_00]: So even I think about like episode seven when I said Dorian's by himself, just playing a game, can't think.
- 1:12:12[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, that's what I would do.
- 1:12:14[SPEAKER_00]: I would sit and try to do anything else, but think about the thing that I don't want to do.
- 1:12:21[SPEAKER_00]: And that felt very real.
- 1:12:23[SPEAKER_00]: And when the moment came, the stress of pulling the trigger was very real.
- 1:12:28[SPEAKER_00]: As we talked about, I think you could literally like, you could taste it coming off of me, like the stress.
- 1:12:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 1:12:37[SPEAKER_03]: I can't imagine what you're mind.
- 1:12:40[SPEAKER_03]: I just imagine your mind, like if it's like the inside out movie.
- 1:12:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:12:45[SPEAKER_03]: All the little creatures inside your brain are on fire right now,
- 1:12:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, or it's more like that it was SpongeBob but like trying to find his name and his brain like setting everything on fire.
- 1:12:55[SPEAKER_00]: Not knowing what to do.
- 1:12:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, I had like a little bit of the easier task because you also had to do like the betrayal and think about like the backstabbing of it all.
- 1:13:06[SPEAKER_03]: And you're like, I need to help two people that I care about and this feels horrible.
- 1:13:11[SPEAKER_03]: How am I going to do it?
- 1:13:13[SPEAKER_00]: And he only had one toilet.
- 1:13:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and you have to say true to both sides of yourself.
- 1:13:18[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm.
- 1:13:19[SPEAKER_00]: So we ended up turning the bullet on himself.
- 1:13:21[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:13:23[SPEAKER_03]: Um, okay.
- 1:13:25[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 1:13:25[SPEAKER_03]: It's good answer.
- 1:13:27[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 1:13:27[SPEAKER_03]: Do we ask her three questions each?
- 1:13:29[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 1:13:30[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 1:13:31[SPEAKER_03]: So we're going to end off on, if there's a season two, what do you think it?
- 1:13:36[SPEAKER_03]: You know, this is all subject to change, but like what are the first ideas popping into your head?
- 1:13:40[SPEAKER_03]: What do you want to happen?
- 1:13:40[SPEAKER_03]: Who do you want to see?
- 1:13:44[SPEAKER_00]: I think I want to see more of the ins and outs of the Redwood Rebels, the Red Rebellion.
- 1:13:52[SPEAKER_00]: They were pretty much offstage this entire time, but this were all like even from the first episode where like they could be a very looming threat because of their numbers.
- 1:14:01[SPEAKER_03]: But we didn't know the numbers and we still don't know the numbers.
- 1:14:06[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it could be an early rebellion, you don't know.
- 1:14:07[SPEAKER_00]: It could be an early rebellion.
- 1:14:10[SPEAKER_00]: And I definitely still want to explore more of Hyperion City.
- 1:14:14[SPEAKER_00]: We didn't get to, we only saw the violet district in a flashback, the red district in a flashback, and we never touched the bronze district.
- 1:14:22[SPEAKER_00]: We've created something that could work for just like a year's log campaign and there's all this a lot of stuff in space we didn't expect explore like the giant floating god-hand the star that like there's a lot there but I think I would like to see a little bit more of exploration happening and it actually was interesting for me while we were doing the final two episodes where I think
- 1:14:50[SPEAKER_00]: Dorian, Dorian's journey is going to involve finding out the truth behind the corruption that happens to the reds because I kind of like, I threw that into the dialogue being like, you know, that there's a, there's a correlation between the corruptions and then the reds that fell and the, I think, yes, yes, I mean, the code is off and we've talked about like, you know, what, that there was a rogue AI that was the reason that.
- 1:15:18[SPEAKER_00]: Humanity came this far away.
- 1:15:20[SPEAKER_00]: Why the law of the seven happened so I think I think Dorian's quest is going to involve Finding that truth that that old truth and then Exposing it exposing it.
- 1:15:34[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's a good.
- 1:15:35[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's a good like overall series goal Because that might be the only thing that's going to break so anyway if I think it like in the meta brain
- 1:15:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's, yeah, I think it would be, and I think that's the more the personal selfish reason he wants to do it is to get Celine to believe him.
- 1:15:55[SPEAKER_03]: She would be powerful ally if she's on your side and like, because you already know like she's like, Gosh, if she believes this hard and like the gold stuff, she'll commit to something completely and wholeheartedly.
- 1:16:09[SPEAKER_03]: I want to see more ship battles, I want to see more space battles.
- 1:16:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we got to be more space in general.
- 1:16:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, so um, but yeah, but okay, we can open, you know, I don't know how we'll open season 2.
- 1:16:22[SPEAKER_00]: I have, I have ideas immediately You don't want to open with Celine on a spell or in talk show.
- 1:16:29[SPEAKER_03]: I Thought about that.
- 1:16:30[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not kidding because um, that will get the word out Because you are enemy number one my friend
- 1:16:37[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah.
- 1:16:37[SPEAKER_03]: You are enemy number one.
- 1:16:39[SPEAKER_03]: Like you remember when Harry Potter went in his faces like all over Mm-hmm.
- 1:16:43[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's movie seven or something.
- 1:16:45[SPEAKER_03]: Yep.
- 1:16:46[SPEAKER_03]: Um, my idea.
- 1:16:49[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, this is too spoilery.
- 1:16:52[SPEAKER_03]: But I have a whole idea of just like her walking down a hole in the Praetorium guard building.
- 1:17:00[SPEAKER_03]: And she looks nervous, but we don't know why she's nervous.
- 1:17:04[SPEAKER_03]: We don't know where Ross is at.
- 1:17:06[SPEAKER_03]: What decision has been made?
- 1:17:09[SPEAKER_03]: When it's been made, we know she's walking down a hallway, extremely nervous.
- 1:17:14[SPEAKER_03]: And then we fade to black and cut to the opening sequence.
- 1:17:20[SPEAKER_03]: That's the, that's that I have more ideas, but I don't want to spoil it for people to to know.
- 1:17:25[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, goodness.
- 1:17:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:17:26[SPEAKER_00]: And then there's the whole ramifications like what happens with the interpolitics of the Kovars family now that like a Kovars has gone rogue, like does that mean like people like your your rival or like my rival might the the politician rival that I had created that hated our father?
- 1:17:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:17:45[SPEAKER_00]: You would take that as an opportunity to ruin
- 1:17:48[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, a lot of people are, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a blood bath.
- 1:17:51[SPEAKER_03]: Like it's a shark to the, to the water.
- 1:17:54[SPEAKER_03]: And I, I like the idea of like, she looks super nervous.
- 1:17:58[SPEAKER_03]: Why is she, why is she so nervous?
- 1:18:01[SPEAKER_03]: Where's Ross?
- 1:18:02[SPEAKER_03]: And then I want to cut and fade to black.
- 1:18:06[SPEAKER_03]: And then I want to flesh to her and Ross in the, in the ship.
- 1:18:11[SPEAKER_04]: Ooh, okay.
- 1:18:12[SPEAKER_03]: Or I wanted to go the other way around.
- 1:18:14[SPEAKER_03]: I wanted to be this kind of unsure of what decision she made because she has time with Ross on the ship.
- 1:18:21[SPEAKER_03]: Does he get her to change her mind?
- 1:18:23[SPEAKER_03]: Does he just make her more angry?
- 1:18:26[SPEAKER_03]: Why is she nervous?
- 1:18:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's the thing.
- 1:18:28[SPEAKER_00]: Why is she nervous?
- 1:18:31[SPEAKER_00]: It's because the stint is down the hall, that's why.
- 1:18:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, no, this is her mother's office, she's walking at you.
- 1:18:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:18:38[SPEAKER_03]: This is normal nervousness.
- 1:18:41[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, that's what I was thinking more space stuff.
- 1:18:44[SPEAKER_03]: I end exploring districts.
- 1:18:46[SPEAKER_03]: Do you think it would be a longer season or same amount?
- 1:18:49[SPEAKER_03]: What do you think?
- 1:18:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think the same if not maybe two more episodes.
- 1:18:56[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe two more.
- 1:18:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:18:58[SPEAKER_00]: Think it'll make the whole 10.
- 1:19:00[SPEAKER_03]: a good 10, what about bringing in guests?
- 1:19:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think bringing in guests would be very fun.
- 1:19:05[SPEAKER_00]: And that's I think the other reason to stretch it a little longer, big is to like, let it, let a guest come on to be part of it.
- 1:19:13[SPEAKER_00]: Because that's the other thing I'm thinking about.
- 1:19:15[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, the Selena Dorian are not going to begin this series in scenes together.
- 1:19:21[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to be separate.
- 1:19:22[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:19:24[SPEAKER_00]: And that's something, you know, which is cool.
- 1:19:26[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's good.
- 1:19:26[SPEAKER_00]: But also, yeah.
- 1:19:28[SPEAKER_03]: Because we'll still, like, on the meta side of things, we'll still be playing together.
- 1:19:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's just like, we facilitate the world for the other person's scenes.
- 1:19:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:19:37[SPEAKER_03]: So you all be playing the reds with you.
- 1:19:40[SPEAKER_03]: And I also have this image of Dorian with the reds, but it's like harsh living, you know?
- 1:19:48[SPEAKER_03]: Like, it's really an alien, it's a rebellion money, so it's like not much.
- 1:19:52[SPEAKER_03]: And I think I kind of want this,
- 1:19:56[SPEAKER_03]: for him but it's up to you but I like this idea of like it's not it's not that it's all cracked up to be and and we us both having that realization like okay we kind of got our goals but like we still feel absolutely horrible yeah like you're like helping the reds now but like there's something to missing like let's say I do deliver us there's still a hole inside Celine that she's trying to
- 1:20:26[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 1:20:27[SPEAKER_00]: But I think we feel worse.
- 1:20:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:20:30[SPEAKER_03]: So, yeah, those are some season 2 ideas, maybe one more, a couple more episodes, bring on a guest.
- 1:20:39[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, I would say to close us off at the end of the day, devastating ending, full character bleed, felt horrible, but felt satisfied at the same time.
- 1:20:51[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
- 1:20:52[SPEAKER_00]: Some of the best stories are the ones that hurt.
- 1:20:54[SPEAKER_03]: I know, I know.
- 1:20:56[SPEAKER_03]: Um, uh, if we had one word or phrase to describe season one, what would you say?
- 1:21:04[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, boy.
- 1:21:04[SPEAKER_03]: I would, I have my priority.
- 1:21:06[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, do you?
- 1:21:08[SPEAKER_00]: Devastating.
- 1:21:10[SPEAKER_00]: No, dang.
- 1:21:10[SPEAKER_00]: That's a good one.
- 1:21:11[SPEAKER_03]: That's my word.
- 1:21:13[SPEAKER_00]: Uh...
- 1:21:15[SPEAKER_00]: Consequence.
- 1:21:17[SPEAKER_03]: Consequence?
- 1:21:18[SPEAKER_03]: Good.
- 1:21:18[SPEAKER_03]: It's a good one.
- 1:21:20[SPEAKER_03]: But, you know, I think we're extreme, I mean, fulfilled as another one that could be said.
- 1:21:26[SPEAKER_03]: So I think just this entire experience was a really well done experience.
- 1:21:31[SPEAKER_03]: We learned a lot as players and as GMs on the prep side of things for me in terms of editing, picking the right person to play with and partner with you because it's really a partnership.
- 1:21:45[SPEAKER_03]: If I felt like one of us was doing more work, it's just not fair.
- 1:21:50[SPEAKER_03]: And I really felt supported in and out of the game, really good communication, so I'm excited for season two and thank you for being such a good partner.
- 1:22:05[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 1:22:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's been an honor and a pleasure and a joy to be a partner with you.
- 1:22:09[SPEAKER_00]: And I look forward to the next season and more projects.
- 1:22:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:22:13[SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah, okay, so, are we, is it official?
- 1:22:17[SPEAKER_03]: Listen, we'll say it's official now that there'll be a season two.
- 1:22:20[SPEAKER_03]: But you know, scheduling demons always come to play.
- 1:22:24[SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, we can say that it's gonna come, we're just never gonna, we just won't have to say when, because then we don't need to give ourselves a deadline.
- 1:22:31[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, you hear that, people.
- 1:22:33[SPEAKER_03]: We don't know when, but we will say we're excited for a season two and more that we can explore.
- 1:22:40[SPEAKER_00]: Hell yeah.
- 1:22:41[SPEAKER_03]: okay well thanks for listening to us during this talk back and we hope you liked season one we worked really hard on it we're really proud of it and we'll see you in season two we just want to win we'll see you in season two we'll see you but until then enjoy telling stories
