- 0:00Speaker 1: It's your early morning praise party. I am Sherri Mackey
- 0:04Speaker 1: and it's time right now for today's word. Stop digging
- 0:09Speaker 1: where there's no water. Stop digging where there's no water.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Jeremiah 2.13 in the Amplified says, My people have committed
- 0:17Speaker 1: two evils. They've forsaken me, the fountain of living water,
- 0:21Speaker 1: and they've hewn for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns, which cannot
- 0:26Speaker 1: hold water. Have you ever worked incredibly hard at something
- 0:30Speaker 1: and still ended up with nothing to show for it?
- 0:33Speaker 1: You gave it your time. You gave it your energy.
- 0:36Speaker 1: You gave it your best. You kept digging, hoping that
- 0:39Speaker 1: eventually something would change, but the well remained empty. Jeremiah 2.13
- 0:45Speaker 1: gives us a powerful picture of what happens when we
- 0:49Speaker 1: try to build our lives without God. The people had
- 0:52Speaker 1: forsaken God, the fountain of living water, and decided that
- 0:56Speaker 1: they were going to dig their own wells. But there
- 0:58Speaker 1: was a problem. Their wells were broken and couldn't hold water. See, sometimes, y'all,
- 1:03Speaker 1: we do the same thing. We make our own plans.
- 1:05Speaker 1: We decide what we want. We pursue what looks good
- 1:09Speaker 1: to us. We try to make everything happen through our
- 1:12Speaker 1: own strength, talent, connections, and ability. Then, after we've made
- 1:17Speaker 1: the plan, we ask God to bless this plan. But
- 1:21Speaker 1: God desires something different. He wants us to seek him
- 1:25Speaker 1: before we make the plan. There's a difference between saying, God,
- 1:31Speaker 1: I've decided what I'm going to do. Please bless it
- 1:34Speaker 1: and saying, Lord, what do you want me to do? See,
- 1:38Speaker 1: that's very, very different. And that simple difference could change
- 1:43Speaker 1: everything because sometimes we're exhausted, not because we're doing something wrong,
- 1:47Speaker 1: but because we're working on something God never told us
- 1:50Speaker 1: to carry. We could spend years trying to fix a
- 1:52Speaker 1: relationship God never told us to chase. As a matter
- 1:56Speaker 1: of fact, he told us to release it. We can
- 1:58Speaker 1: chase opportunities God never assigned to us. We can keep
- 2:02Speaker 1: forcing doors that God never opened. We can pour ourselves
- 2:05Speaker 1: into plans that look promising, but leave us spiritually empty.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Those are works that don't work. Galatians 5 speaks about
- 2:14Speaker 1: the works of the flesh. When we operate solely from
- 2:18Speaker 1: our own desires and strength, we become busy without being fruitful.
- 2:22Speaker 1: But when God gives direction, he also gives the grace
- 2:26Speaker 1: to accomplish it. So before you dig another well, stop.
- 2:30Speaker 1: And ask God, is this where you want me to dig?
- 2:33Speaker 1: Before you launch another plan, ask the Lord, is this
- 2:37Speaker 1: your plan or mine? Before you exhaust yourself trying to
- 2:40Speaker 1: make something happen, ask, am I partnering with you or
- 2:43Speaker 1: am I trying to do this alone? See, you don't
- 2:45Speaker 1: have to spend your life digging empty wells. God is
- 2:49Speaker 1: the fountain of living water. He knows where the refreshing is.
- 2:52Speaker 1: He knows where the provision is. He knows where your
- 2:55Speaker 1: purpose is. So seek his plan first. Trust his direction.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Follow his leading. And when you do, you don't have
- 3:02Speaker 1: to force it. God has already ordained it. Lord, we
- 3:06Speaker 1: don't want to spend our lives digging empty wells. Forgive
- 3:09Speaker 1: us for the times we've rushed ahead of you and
- 3:11Speaker 1: tried to make things happen on our own. Teach us, God,
- 3:15Speaker 1: to seek your plan before we make any plans. Give
- 3:18Speaker 1: us discernment to recognize what you've assigned to us and
- 3:23Speaker 1: encourage us to walk away, God, from what you haven't.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Help us to trust your timing, follow your direction, and
- 3:29Speaker 1: depend on your strength. Lead us to the places where
- 3:33Speaker 1: our efforts will produce lasting fruit in Jesus' name. That's
- 3:37Speaker 1: your word for today. Take it, apply it to your
- 3:39Speaker 1: everyday life, and you continue to be encouraged and inspired.
- 3:42Speaker 1: It's your early morning praise party. I am Sherri Mackey.
