- 1:18Speaker 4: And says, this is the best day of my life.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Gez really really really is sad. It's a sad existence.
- 1:24Speaker 1: The first day, the restaurant we got in, like in
- 1:27Speaker 1: late afternoon, had something echo back to the room during
- 1:29Speaker 1: the TV on. The first thing we got hit hit
- 1:31Speaker 1: with was three channels of porn. This guy was just
- 1:34Speaker 1: going at it with.
- 1:35Speaker 2: This and you really were lying on the beach drilling
- 1:39Speaker 2: for oil.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Like, I'm not into porn. I I like, I like
- 1:43Speaker 1: to do it, but I don't need I don't need
- 1:46Speaker 1: to watch anyone.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Else doing it.
- 1:48Speaker 7: This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website for
- 1:52Speaker 7: deals by a Toyota dot Com.
- 1:56Speaker 1: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
- 2:00Speaker 1: at Jillette Stadium, and it's me and Paul. No Alex
- 2:03Speaker 1: today she couldn't no.
- 2:06Speaker 2: She she's working on the hair. But evidently I think
- 2:09Speaker 2: she had she.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Had a thing.
- 2:11Speaker 2: She has a corporate sponsorship panel that she had to
- 2:15Speaker 2: okay lead all right, Well, you know, like you and
- 2:19Speaker 2: I they you know, we're back up house friends. We
- 2:21Speaker 2: can't be out there with the corporate sponsors. You gotta
- 2:24Speaker 2: have Alex in her hair. Well you have to have
- 2:26Speaker 2: hair right righte And.
- 2:30Speaker 1: But Evans evident still at the combine, just having the
- 2:37Speaker 1: time of their life.
- 2:40Speaker 2: I have not. I was texting a little bit with
- 2:43Speaker 2: Mike yesterday early and I haven't really heard anything lately
- 2:48Speaker 2: from them. Have you? Have they checked in with today?
- 2:50Speaker 1: Not today? But I do have a little mini rant
- 2:53Speaker 1: to start off with or otherwise ran it's kind of like,
- 2:57Speaker 1: just what are we doing here? So on the first
- 3:02Speaker 1: press conference that Gerard Mayo had when he was announced
- 3:05Speaker 1: as the head coach, he made that kind of off
- 3:08Speaker 1: the cuff remarking we got we're gonna burn some cash,
- 3:11Speaker 1: And yesterday he felt the need to walk that back
- 3:15Speaker 1: with Karenkarregian and I didn't like that. Oh I didn't
- 3:19Speaker 1: like that. To me it so it took a month
- 3:22Speaker 1: for you to not agree with Yeah, nice U. It
- 3:27Speaker 1: smacked a little bit of red Soxian when Tom Werner
- 3:30Speaker 1: had to say, well, we're not really full throttle, you know,
- 3:33Speaker 1: And I think not that Gerard. Uh, it was a
- 3:39Speaker 1: bad thing, but I don't think he should even admit
- 3:41Speaker 1: that he was, you know, misspoke, Just say yeah, I
- 3:44Speaker 1: was just kidding. I was just kidding around. But don't
- 3:47Speaker 1: say I misspoke, you know, because now we get into
- 3:50Speaker 1: this whole thing. Well, you know, you address that one.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Are you gonna address this one? Are you gonna dress
- 3:55Speaker 1: this one? Are you gonna dress that?
- 3:56Speaker 2: You know what? I hadn't given it a lot of thought,
- 3:57Speaker 2: but as you explained that, I have to say that
- 4:00Speaker 2: I am on board with you make it a deal.
- 4:02Speaker 2: And I think that was what Bill. You know, Bill
- 4:06Speaker 2: got a lot of criticism for never saying anything, and
- 4:10Speaker 2: I think his rationale for that was, well, if you
- 4:14Speaker 2: say something, sometimes people are going to want to know
- 4:16Speaker 2: why you didn't say it when I really can't right now.
- 4:18Speaker 1: The exceptions are Aaron Hernandez or something like that. Yeah,
- 4:21Speaker 1: but like a statement like that, don't don't get into
- 4:25Speaker 1: the weeds like that.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that there's I get your point, and
- 4:28Speaker 2: I certainly understand where you're coming from. And I think
- 4:33Speaker 2: in this particular one, I would especially agree with you
- 4:36Speaker 2: because I think it's about money and that's a sensitive topic,
- 4:39Speaker 2: you know, And I think it's easy for people to
- 4:42Speaker 2: and we're going to get into another part of this,
- 4:45Speaker 2: i'm sure during this show, but it's easy for people
- 4:48Speaker 2: to look at that and connect the dots and say, well, yeah,
- 4:50Speaker 2: you know he was out there all guns of blazing
- 4:53Speaker 2: and you know, talking about the Yeah, and then they
- 4:57Speaker 2: they went in, you know, a couple of weeks go
- 4:59Speaker 2: by and they're like, listen, you know, we can't be
- 5:00Speaker 2: talking about burning money. They don't have money to burn.
- 5:02Speaker 2: That's not how we operate it right here and there,
- 5:05Speaker 2: and people that think like that are probably not wrong.
- 5:08Speaker 2: When he comes out and says, yeah, yeah, I misspoke.
- 5:10Speaker 1: But the other thing is, I'm sure Gerrod knows that
- 5:14Speaker 1: we're not just gonna burn cash. He was just being
- 5:16Speaker 1: kind of flippant about it, and he should have left
- 5:20Speaker 1: it at that. You know, he's smart enough to know
- 5:22Speaker 1: we're not just gonna waste money, you know, because that's
- 5:24Speaker 1: what people think. We just think about burning.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Yeah, And you can when you say stuff, listen, you
- 5:30Speaker 2: open yourself up, your full throttle comp is is accurate.
- 5:34Speaker 2: So if they go to free agency and they're sort
- 5:37Speaker 2: of luke Warman free agency, people are going to be like,
- 5:40Speaker 2: that's it, you know, that that's money to burn, that's
- 5:42Speaker 2: you know, we have cash to burn, Like that's gonna
- 5:45Speaker 2: be what's gonna come back to haunt you. But that's
- 5:47Speaker 2: gonna happen either way, I know, because even though you
- 5:50Speaker 2: said you misspoke, right, you think people are going to
- 5:53Speaker 2: say they said that, Oh no no, well no, no, no, Fred,
- 5:56Speaker 2: remember he said he misspoke. No, no, one's gonna be
- 5:59Speaker 2: like that.
- 5:59Speaker 1: But that that leads into the second part, is that
- 6:03Speaker 1: he has to be careful. But everything right now the
- 6:07Speaker 1: Patriots are doing is under a microscope. I mean, people
- 6:11Speaker 1: are reading into everything, you know, especially with this Dynasty documentary.
- 6:17Speaker 1: You know, they're looking at every little thing is you know,
- 6:21Speaker 1: Oh you know it's a hit piece on Bill. Oh
- 6:25Speaker 1: this makes Robert Kraft look bad. Oh this is you know.
- 6:27Speaker 2: So I have one thing about this, you know. And
- 6:30Speaker 2: we've been really behind the scenes, you know, we're doing
- 6:33Speaker 2: the podcasts, you know, with with Matt, and Mike has
- 6:37Speaker 2: done a couple of them too, so we're really diving
- 6:41Speaker 2: into the details of There's one thing that really bugs
- 6:45Speaker 2: me about this in terms of the perception. And I've
- 6:48Speaker 2: had my fair criticisms, fair share of criticisms for the
- 6:53Speaker 2: documentary and everything like that. So I'm not trying to
- 6:55Speaker 2: tell you I think it's perfect. But I've never minded
- 6:59Speaker 2: in the twenty five five years that I've been working
- 7:01Speaker 2: for you, I've never minded when someone says, oh, that's Parola.
- 7:04Speaker 2: He works for the team, and I do. I work
- 7:07Speaker 2: for the team, and that's inherent. It comes with the territory.
- 7:10Speaker 2: We work for Robert and Jonathan Craft. So that's never
- 7:14Speaker 2: bothered me from day one. What does bother me is
- 7:19Speaker 2: this notion that we are the pr firm for the documentary.
- 7:25Speaker 2: We were responsible for putting the documentary together, and we
- 7:29Speaker 2: were responsible for painting Robert Craft in the big light,
- 7:32Speaker 2: and we were responsible for painting Bill Belichick out to
- 7:35Speaker 2: be the big bad wolf. We had nothing to do
- 7:39Speaker 2: with this documentary.
- 7:40Speaker 1: There's not one part of that documentary that's an unnamed source.
- 7:45Speaker 1: It's all in people's words. Now, you can say that
- 7:48Speaker 1: Tom Brady was being too sensitive, or Robert Kraft, you know,
- 7:52Speaker 1: didn't like sharing the limelight with whatever. You can say
- 7:55Speaker 1: all that.
- 7:55Speaker 2: And I'm not telling you that your impressions of the
- 7:58Speaker 2: documentary are wrong. A lot of them that I've read
- 8:01Speaker 2: and i've heard, I agree with. But I'm just I'm
- 8:04Speaker 2: pushing back on the notion. I get this guy that
- 8:06Speaker 2: emails me all the time and most of the time.
- 8:08Speaker 2: He has some really insightful stuff, but he says, you know,
- 8:12Speaker 2: Craft and I don't even realize. I don't even know
- 8:14Speaker 2: if this guy realizes that I am actually part of
- 8:16Speaker 2: Craft Sports and Entertainment. But he says, you know, and
- 8:19Speaker 2: that whole Craft Sports and Entertainment puff piece they put
- 8:22Speaker 2: together for the documentary. And I'm like, again, when I
- 8:27Speaker 2: write an analysis and I say that I think Gerard
- 8:29Speaker 2: Mail was the right choice, the criticism that comes with that,
- 8:32Speaker 2: I understand and expect people do not think that I'm
- 8:36Speaker 2: telling you what I really think, even though I do.
- 8:39Speaker 2: That's fine. I work for the team this I really
- 8:42Speaker 2: had nothing to do with You had nothing to do
- 8:44Speaker 2: with it. The only thing that even like tangentially, we
- 8:48Speaker 2: had to do with is a lot of footage that
- 8:50Speaker 2: Matt Smith and his crew have shot over the years,
- 8:53Speaker 2: behind the scenes that has never been seen, was poured
- 8:56Speaker 2: through by the company that puts the thing together.
- 8:59Speaker 1: He gave them axes.
- 9:00Speaker 2: That's it.
- 9:00Speaker 1: We cooperated, That is it. Yeah, I mean so like
- 9:04Speaker 1: when we when we saw it, like we got screeners
- 9:07Speaker 1: from Apple right to an arm in a lake to
- 9:10Speaker 1: get them.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Yeah, that's okay. I still haven't been able to see
- 9:12Speaker 2: the last three because you guys keep holding it out out.
- 9:14Speaker 1: But when we saw those screens, that was the first
- 9:16Speaker 1: time we'd ever seen it. We had no idea what
- 9:19Speaker 1: was going to be in this thing, you know, no idea,
- 9:22Speaker 1: you know, Like I was surprised to see Bill Parcells.
- 9:25Speaker 1: I didn't know he was being interviewed and to say
- 9:27Speaker 1: what he said, you know, he was completely candid. Yeah,
- 9:30Speaker 1: you know, and good, that's great.
- 9:32Speaker 2: That makes the dott Yeah. And again, this isn't a
- 9:35Speaker 2: referendum on the documentary. It's just this perception that somehow
- 9:39Speaker 2: we're complicit in trying to make. And I agree. I
- 9:42Speaker 2: think it does kind of paint Robert out to be
- 9:44Speaker 2: the hero in Bill to be the villain. I agree with. Again,
- 9:48Speaker 2: I'm not I'm not pushing back on people's thoughts, but
- 9:52Speaker 2: we didn't have anything to do with trying to portray
- 9:54Speaker 2: Robert Kraft that way, right. We did not put this together.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean those are Roberts.
- 9:58Speaker 2: I wish we did. I wish we would getting the
- 10:00Speaker 2: money for us, but we don't.
- 10:02Speaker 1: So anyway, that's that's that. But everything we do, and
- 10:07Speaker 1: you know, you mentioned something before about like the news
- 10:10Speaker 1: that you know this big news that's coming out, and
- 10:14Speaker 1: you know the Patriots are interested in a quarterback really.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Well, it's like, I'll give you another example. And when
- 10:21Speaker 2: Elliott Will spoke on Tuesday, I guess it was right, Yeah,
- 10:26Speaker 2: that was the day we did the show Tuesday. He
- 10:28Speaker 2: said that they were meeting with all the quarterbacks.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Right, they did before because they never had access, right.
- 10:34Speaker 2: But like three hours later, people are tweeting out, you know,
- 10:39Speaker 2: according to sources, the Patriots will meet tonight with the
- 10:43Speaker 2: three quarters. So the news was that the time was
- 10:46Speaker 2: actually tonight, you know, like they've they've met with Daydon
- 10:50Speaker 2: Daniels and Drake May and they're planning on meeting with
- 10:52Speaker 2: Caleb Williams tonight. Yea, Elliott Wolf just told us that. Yeah, right,
- 10:59Speaker 2: you know it.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Oh, it's everything is headlines right now.
- 11:02Speaker 2: And I think people I think it's because Bill's gone
- 11:06Speaker 2: and it's and it's a different way. Well, and I
- 11:08Speaker 2: think people are saying such a ye, but they're talking
- 11:11Speaker 2: and they're they're telling them. So we're you know, we're
- 11:13Speaker 2: gonna we have information now, see say, we can get
- 11:16Speaker 2: information now. And it's like, well, like the thing I used,
- 11:20Speaker 2: you know, the example I used for you just before
- 11:22Speaker 2: we started the show off air, was you know, the plan,
- 11:25Speaker 2: according to sources, is for the Patriots to take a
- 11:29Speaker 2: quarterback at three and bring in a veteran, you know,
- 11:33Speaker 2: in case that, you know, in the event that the
- 11:35Speaker 2: rookie is not quite ready to start right away. Okay,
- 11:38Speaker 2: these are and again I'm not telling you that's not news.
- 11:41Speaker 2: If someone is saying that is actually what it is.
- 11:43Speaker 2: But it is stuff that we've been talking incessantly about
- 11:48Speaker 2: for two and a half months, you know. And and
- 11:52Speaker 2: the way the stuff is being presented like whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
- 11:56Speaker 2: you know, get the breaking news sounder, you know, we gotta,
- 11:59Speaker 2: we gotta delve in to this. It's I just think
- 12:02Speaker 2: it's it's funny with the way that some of the
- 12:03Speaker 2: stuff has gone down in Indy.
- 12:06Speaker 1: I want to read this email because it just came
- 12:08Speaker 1: in on this topic, Anthony writes in he says, you
- 12:11Speaker 1: won't read this email. Well, I'm going to read it.
- 12:14Speaker 1: I know you work for mister Kraft, so you won't
- 12:16Speaker 1: address the obvious. They're cheap. Even the Sports Hub talks
- 12:19Speaker 1: about it. Now, Paul shows have always, always have but
- 12:22Speaker 1: even Zoe and Beadle talk about it now. Can't spend
- 12:25Speaker 1: money in a top notch weight room, no family facilities,
- 12:28Speaker 1: food isn't great. Maybe if we threw a few of
- 12:31Speaker 1: those bucks into the facility, that might help draw players.
- 12:34Speaker 1: That with a top offer helps if you're a player
- 12:36Speaker 1: and have two offers exactly saying, you're going to pick
- 12:39Speaker 1: the place that seems to care more about the small things.
- 12:41Speaker 1: The narrative for years was Bill was a cheap one
- 12:43Speaker 1: didn't want to give that huge contract. It's clear to
- 12:46Speaker 1: most of us now the penny pinching was from above,
- 12:48Speaker 1: not Bill, Okay, And I know he's referring to this NFL.
- 12:53Speaker 2: P Yeah, and that's what I was talking about earlier.
- 12:54Speaker 2: I said, I'm sure we're going to get into some
- 12:56Speaker 2: other stuff about Yeah.
- 12:57Speaker 1: So I'm players were given this survey and they answered
- 13:02Speaker 1: it honestly, I hope you know. And and the Patriots
- 13:05Speaker 1: didn't get good grades. And a lot of places, and
- 13:08Speaker 1: I can tell you that, you know, some teams, I
- 13:11Speaker 1: think all but twelve teams have like a family daycare situation,
- 13:16Speaker 1: you know, at their at their state.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Particularly family family areas. At the very I think it's
- 13:21Speaker 2: twenty five out of the thirty two.
- 13:23Speaker 1: And right now the Patriots don't, but I can tell
- 13:27Speaker 1: you that there's plans down the future, not just for that,
- 13:29Speaker 1: but for an improvement on the facilities. You know, we're
- 13:32Speaker 1: one of the few teams left that have everything in
- 13:35Speaker 1: the stadium. And at the time that happened back in
- 13:38Speaker 1: two thousand and one, that was like, oh, this is cool.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Everything's in one place. It's really convenient. You practice right
- 13:44Speaker 1: behind the stadium. You don't have to go anywhere else.
- 13:46Speaker 1: It's same locker room, you know. You know that's an advantage.
- 13:49Speaker 1: And then over time things started changing, you know, nutrition change, weight,
- 13:57Speaker 1: you know, weight training changed, you know, more where things
- 14:00Speaker 1: were added, you know, innovative technology, you needed more space.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Patriots are behind and all that, right, but I can
- 14:09Speaker 1: tell you that they're gonna address that. You know, So
- 14:13Speaker 1: it's a big deal that right now it's not that good.
- 14:15Speaker 1: But it's not like the crafts aren't don't know about it.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Yeah, and the you know, like I love the way
- 14:22Speaker 2: that you know, I'm sure that he that's exactly what
- 14:24Speaker 2: he wanted to do, figuring out back him into a
- 14:26Speaker 2: corner and force him to read it. You didn't need
- 14:28Speaker 2: to do that, well, we're going to talk about this
- 14:30Speaker 2: this survey and whatnot. And I do think the family part,
- 14:34Speaker 2: like a lot of these things. On surface, you're like,
- 14:37Speaker 2: and I heard, I actually heard Beetle and Zoe yesay,
- 14:39Speaker 2: and Zoe was like cackling about half of the things
- 14:41Speaker 2: and like and making light of it. But I think
- 14:44Speaker 2: he was missing the point and I think Beetle finally
- 14:46Speaker 2: got him there. This isn't about how important you think
- 14:49Speaker 2: it is to have a family room or daycare. If
- 14:52Speaker 2: you don't think those things are important, that's fine, But
- 14:56Speaker 2: almost all of the other teams do. Right, So you've
- 14:58Speaker 2: judged among your peers.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Come the thing like, like Anthony said in the email,
- 15:02Speaker 1: if everything else is even, you're looking at that small stuff.
- 15:05Speaker 1: And he's absolutely right. You know, the size of the
- 15:08Speaker 1: locker room, the quality of the locker is even, you know,
- 15:11Speaker 1: the facilities. It all comes into play. And it's not
- 15:14Speaker 1: like the crafts don't realize that.
- 15:16Speaker 2: And these are things that Bill Belichick started to talk
- 15:19Speaker 2: about toward the end of his tech We.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Have a space issue right now, you know, we got
- 15:24Speaker 1: people working, you.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Know, and I'm down with the steerage, right you know,
- 15:27Speaker 2: so I like it, but like So, like I heard
- 15:29Speaker 2: somebody today, you know, how hard would it be to
- 15:32Speaker 2: solve this family thing?
- 15:33Speaker 1: You hire somebody minimum wage to watch the kids. It's
- 15:36Speaker 1: not that simple. No, First of all, you need the space.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Then you need somebody competent to watch the kids. If
- 15:41Speaker 1: God forbid, anything happen.
- 15:42Speaker 2: I think I could volunteer for that at a bonus.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Yeah maybe I'd love Yeah, and hanging out with kids
- 15:47Speaker 2: all day, right, but I'll do that.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Yeah, you really, Yeah, careful what you wish for.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you have to make it worth my while.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Right, And as you said, there's not going to be
- 15:56Speaker 2: a couple of hundred podcast.
- 15:57Speaker 1: What happens when the kid gets colic or whatever?
- 15:59Speaker 8: I don't know, you know, but now with Uncle Paul's
- 16:01Speaker 8: going around now Fred.
- 16:03Speaker 1: You know so, but you need, you know, more than
- 16:05Speaker 1: one person. Plus I can handle it. Plus I'm sure
- 16:07Speaker 1: you need special insurance for that. You can't just open
- 16:10Speaker 1: up a.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Daycare, probably special training, right, you.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Can't just open up a daycare. And you know there's
- 16:14Speaker 1: certain so it's not I know I'm saying that's why
- 16:18Speaker 1: you shouldn't do it. You should do it, but and
- 16:20Speaker 1: it's just a time.
- 16:21Speaker 2: And the troubling thing for me on this survey is
- 16:25Speaker 2: not that they didn't have daycare, not that their weight
- 16:28Speaker 2: room is not up to par. It across the board.
- 16:31Speaker 2: It was across the board. There was like nine categories
- 16:34Speaker 2: and eight out of nine of those categories they they
- 16:39Speaker 2: dropped from last year.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Yep.
- 16:41Speaker 2: And they didn't do well last year. Right, So those
- 16:43Speaker 2: are some things that I think Robert and Jonathan Kraft
- 16:46Speaker 2: will look at and hopefully we'll take an honest look
- 16:49Speaker 2: at it. Now I can see what they can do better.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I can tell you two years ago when the report
- 16:52Speaker 1: cry came out, we got low marks and travel, and
- 16:55Speaker 1: I can tell you over the last two years, like
- 16:57Speaker 1: the hotels that we've been staying.
- 16:58Speaker 2: A low mount travel again. Yeah, but the hotels have
- 17:01Speaker 2: been better when.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Way up, you know. So like I don't know what
- 17:04Speaker 1: and I know a lot of teams make guys have roommates.
- 17:06Speaker 1: I know this team doesn't. No, you know, so I
- 17:09Speaker 1: don't know, like we're guys in a bad mood. When
- 17:11Speaker 1: they filled it out, you're four and thirteen everybody.
- 17:13Speaker 2: So my theory on that was that anything you know,
- 17:17Speaker 2: because you don't have the weight room that you want
- 17:20Speaker 2: because you don't have the locker room space that you want,
- 17:22Speaker 2: because you don't have the family amenities that you want.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Those are all sort of things that point back to ownership. Right, Yeah,
- 17:29Speaker 2: travel kind of points back to ownership. That's another one.
- 17:33Speaker 2: What was wrong with travel exactly right now? You know
- 17:36Speaker 2: we've talked about I don't really know exactly what you
- 17:39Speaker 2: can do travel wise. Yeah, that's above and beyond.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Well, it's the quality hotel which.
- 17:44Speaker 2: You have a you have good hotels, you don't have
- 17:46Speaker 2: to have roommates. And you have a charter flight, right,
- 17:49Speaker 2: like what else do you know? Your charter flight isn't
- 17:52Speaker 2: going to be any different than someone else's. And I
- 17:54Speaker 2: know people say, well they have their own plane. Yes,
- 17:56Speaker 2: it's they own the plane, but it's a regular like
- 17:59Speaker 2: charter plane delta, yeah right, it's just not like a
- 18:02Speaker 2: special fancy suits a wider. Yeah, I mean, it's just
- 18:06Speaker 2: like any other NFL plane.
- 18:07Speaker 1: But you know, so who knows what what went into that?
- 18:11Speaker 2: But I just think that was collateral damage because I
- 18:14Speaker 2: agree with you. I know that that. I've heard everybody,
- 18:16Speaker 2: even though I don't travel anymore, I've heard you and
- 18:18Speaker 2: many others say there was an uptick in the hotels, yeah, yeah,
- 18:23Speaker 2: and they went down.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Yeah, and those so you know, who knows why, but
- 18:29Speaker 1: I can tell you that, yes, those marks are probably deserved.
- 18:34Speaker 1: In most of the cases. A lot of what we
- 18:37Speaker 1: see here is outdated, you know. Most a lot of
- 18:41Speaker 1: teams that have had a stadium for twenty five years
- 18:43Speaker 1: are trying to build a whole new stadium.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, and I think that's the way to go,
- 18:48Speaker 2: like go thirty thirty five years and then rebuild, as
- 18:51Speaker 2: opposed to the Fenway Park model.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Right, and well that's a kind of historic landmark. But anyway,
- 18:58Speaker 1: but most teams have gone onto the separate football facility
- 19:02Speaker 1: model rather than have everything in the stadium. And I
- 19:05Speaker 1: I think they're looking at that, you know. But that
- 19:11Speaker 1: doesn't mean that the Crafts are bad owners, you know.
- 19:14Speaker 1: It's but people are like they look and it's all
- 19:17Speaker 1: because of Bill Belichick. There's a lot of Bill Bots
- 19:21Speaker 1: out there who they're looking for anything to prove that
- 19:25Speaker 1: he should.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Say the criticism you mean, oh yeah, you know they
- 19:29Speaker 2: think that There's been a lot of rallying around Bill
- 19:32Speaker 2: Belichick that I didn't really see in the years you know,
- 19:34Speaker 2: leading up to.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Is still has been getting you know, knocked down, which
- 19:39Speaker 1: he has they're right about I'm not. I'm not saying
- 19:42Speaker 1: he hasn't, but they're coming now. They want to knock
- 19:45Speaker 1: down craft, right, you know.
- 19:48Speaker 2: In some of it, like you said, it's deserved. And
- 19:51Speaker 2: I think that, you know when you look at it,
- 19:53Speaker 2: and everybody talked about this yesterday, like the the arms
- 19:56Speaker 2: raising College for these facilities that you're talking about is
- 19:59Speaker 2: just gone on through the roof. And that's where all
- 20:02Speaker 2: these kids are coming from. So the people that are
- 20:04Speaker 2: taking these surveys now are coming from Oregon and Alabama
- 20:08Speaker 2: and Florida State and LSU. And I don't know if
- 20:11Speaker 2: you've ever seen any of those facilities, Fred, They're unreal. Well,
- 20:14Speaker 2: that's why Bill would they blow the NFL away.
- 20:16Speaker 1: That's why Bill would like to draft people from Western Chattanooga.
- 20:20Speaker 1: They wouldn't complain.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Yeah, So I do think that that's part of it.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Now you're getting a different experience for these college kids
- 20:30Speaker 2: as they come into the league and they're like, oh,
- 20:32Speaker 2: I figured it would be better in the pros. It's
- 20:34Speaker 2: really the same or worse.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Remember the old Foxborlle Stadium from Ohio State would get here.
- 20:39Speaker 2: They were all talking about their high school facility.
- 20:41Speaker 1: I was just gonna say, they said, my high school
- 20:44Speaker 1: stadium is bigger than this place. But yeah, so I
- 20:46Speaker 1: you know, we'll catch up for a while. We were,
- 20:49Speaker 1: you know, in the we've fallen behind and we'll get
- 20:53Speaker 1: back to the front.
- 20:53Speaker 2: The weight room is underway ish.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Yeah, they're gonna they're gonna renovate the weight room. I
- 20:59Speaker 1: mean I was in it recently. It's drab.
- 21:02Speaker 2: I've been in there. Yeah, you know, Matt and I
- 21:04Speaker 2: when we did our podcast with Adam Vinieri humble Brag. Yeah,
- 21:09Speaker 2: you know, I don't know if you've seen Adam lately physically.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Yeah, jacked.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Yeah, so that was part of the thing. We did
- 21:15Speaker 2: a little separate thing with him on his fitness routine
- 21:17Speaker 2: and we went in the gym. Yeah, and that was
- 21:19Speaker 2: the first time since it's been completely expanded that I
- 21:23Speaker 2: had been in there. And yeah, like on the surface,
- 21:27Speaker 2: from a regular guy, I'm like, wow, there's a lot
- 21:29Speaker 2: of a lot of crap in here that didn't used
- 21:32Speaker 2: to be in here. But but I can understand the
- 21:34Speaker 2: kinetics and the technology. You don't have the.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Room and it's crowded.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Yeah, you don't have the room to do like the
- 21:40Speaker 2: probably those little monitor runs and stuff like that, agility things.
- 21:45Speaker 1: You know, when Gerard in its first press conference, he's
- 21:48Speaker 1: mentioned in his mind the importance of the weight room.
- 21:51Speaker 1: So that's why I think the first thing they're doing
- 21:54Speaker 1: now that he's the head coaches, they're figuring out how
- 21:57Speaker 1: to make that better.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Yeah, but I can.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Say that, you know, even then it may only be
- 22:03Speaker 1: a couple of year fixed. I think that they're even
- 22:05Speaker 1: thinking bigger than.
- 22:06Speaker 2: That down the road. Yeah, we are probably not ready
- 22:08Speaker 2: to talk about that.
- 22:09Speaker 1: But but my point is, I'm with you. My point
- 22:13Speaker 1: is they're not just dismissing this the ownership. They they're
- 22:17Speaker 1: taking this seriously.
- 22:18Speaker 2: And you remember, and you know it was it was
- 22:21Speaker 2: a big thing on my shows because they like to
- 22:24Speaker 2: pick pick but they laugh. You remember when when Bill
- 22:27Speaker 2: talked in Vegas about the taj Mahal that these are
- 22:31Speaker 2: some of the things that they were being discussed. And again,
- 22:35Speaker 2: when you do a renovation of you know, the scoreboard
- 22:39Speaker 2: in the lighthouse, that's going to open yourself up to
- 22:43Speaker 2: criticism when you get these kinds of grades for the
- 22:45Speaker 2: actual players, because that's kind of for the World Cup.
- 22:48Speaker 2: I mean, right, they you know, they wanted to, you know,
- 22:50Speaker 2: Gussie the place up for the World Cup that's coming when.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Two years yeah, you know, and like people don't know,
- 22:57Speaker 1: but we just put in a new turf field in
- 22:59Speaker 1: the glass portion even though obviously a football field always
- 23:03Speaker 1: stays the same, but the grass portion has expanded because
- 23:07Speaker 1: in World Cup the soccer field is actually a little wider.
- 23:10Speaker 1: It needs to be a little wider. So you see,
- 23:13Speaker 1: the grass extends further out, making the track around the
- 23:17Speaker 1: outside narrower. You know. Uh, there's still the same space
- 23:21Speaker 1: between a football field and the stands, but now it's
- 23:24Speaker 1: more grass than it used to be turf. Yeah, you know, yeah,
- 23:28Speaker 1: it's very nice, you.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Know.
- 23:32Speaker 1: But the other thing about it is like people make
- 23:34Speaker 1: fun of the crowd. Oh they built this lighthouse and
- 23:36Speaker 1: they put the scoreboard in and you know, uh, but
- 23:39Speaker 1: they can't pay for a family room.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Okay, that's fine, That's what I'm saying.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Like the other thing they have to realize underneath this
- 23:47Speaker 1: scoreboard is this new club and they're making money off
- 23:50Speaker 1: the club and that helps with everything else, you know,
- 23:55Speaker 1: that'll help with building this next phase of renovation that
- 23:58Speaker 1: they do that the player will like, you know, So
- 24:02Speaker 1: it's I don't know, but get back to my original
- 24:06Speaker 1: point at the top show. Everything the Patriots do right
- 24:09Speaker 1: now is going to be criticized, you know, by the
- 24:12Speaker 1: people who are looking to knock down Craft because their
- 24:15Speaker 1: their butts hurt because Bill's gone, you know, and I
- 24:18Speaker 1: get it.
- 24:19Speaker 2: You know, there's been a lot of that too, a
- 24:21Speaker 2: lot of the old a lot of the old guard
- 24:23Speaker 2: coming out of the you know, I just you know,
- 24:29Speaker 2: I think it's curious that you didn't hear a lot
- 24:32Speaker 2: of from those people when now Bill was sort of
- 24:35Speaker 2: you know, right hanging in the in the wind there,
- 24:39Speaker 2: you know, down the stretch of the season. All of
- 24:40Speaker 2: a sudden, now it's all and you know, and I
- 24:43Speaker 2: understand it. I understand that the viewpoint because they were
- 24:46Speaker 2: probably looking at it's like, yeah, you know, maybe it
- 24:48Speaker 2: was time for Bill to go. You know, maybe the
- 24:50Speaker 2: expiration date had come. And then you listen to the
- 24:54Speaker 2: commentary for a month from the team, not from people,
- 24:58Speaker 2: and there was some curious comments. I've been critical of them,
- 25:01Speaker 2: and I said it again on Tuesday. I just wish
- 25:03Speaker 2: that we could go a whole press conference without referencing,
- 25:06Speaker 2: you know, how hard asked it was, you know, to
- 25:09Speaker 2: use the latest one in you know, the importance of
- 25:13Speaker 2: you know, building bridges and knocking down the silos. And
- 25:16Speaker 2: I think, you know, Gerard probably heard some of that
- 25:18Speaker 2: criticism of it and addressed it on Wednesday. We haven't
- 25:21Speaker 2: really talked about the fact that Garrod talked on Wednesday.
- 25:25Speaker 1: The other misconception related to this is people I've heard
- 25:28Speaker 1: people say, oh, the timing of this documentary's interesting. You know,
- 25:34Speaker 1: I can tell you unequivocally that the Patriots had nothing
- 25:38Speaker 1: to do with the release of this thing, and the
- 25:40Speaker 1: timing this isn't apple thing is now.
- 25:43Speaker 2: If you want to criticize, right there you go. If
- 25:46Speaker 2: you want to criticize the timing of having it produced,
- 25:50Speaker 2: because I think there's a little.
- 25:52Speaker 1: They've been producing it for three years.
- 25:53Speaker 2: No, I know, if you want to criticize the fact
- 25:56Speaker 2: that they they commissioned this when they did, I think
- 26:00Speaker 2: that's that's that's relevant, that that's valid. Like as a
- 26:04Speaker 2: point of comparison, the Bulls came out decades after, you know, right, yeah,
- 26:13Speaker 2: this is while it's still going on, you know.
- 26:17Speaker 1: And this is why I think Bill was at a disadvantage.
- 26:19Speaker 1: I'll stick up from here, you know, Bill Parcells can
- 26:22Speaker 1: say what he says. He can be completely honest and
- 26:24Speaker 1: candid because he's got no skin in the game. Bill
- 26:27Speaker 1: was interviewed while he was still the head.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Coach, right, And I think that you can make an
- 26:32Speaker 2: argument that that's no time to do a documentary on
- 26:36Speaker 2: your success while the principles are still involved. But the
- 26:42Speaker 2: whole idea of the timing of its release is absurd.
- 26:46Speaker 2: And I snapped at someone on Twitter about that and
- 26:49Speaker 2: they were like, you know, so, so this comes out
- 26:54Speaker 2: the fact that this was announced to be be released
- 26:57Speaker 2: three days after they got back from Germany. No coincidence,
- 27:00Speaker 2: I said, no, Actually, it's the very definition of a coincidence. Yeah, yeah,
- 27:04Speaker 2: you know, And crickets. I didn't hear anything back. Like
- 27:08Speaker 2: I again, I don't often respond because I really understand it.
- 27:13Speaker 2: I know we work for the team and with that
- 27:15Speaker 2: comes slings and arrows that I'm prepared to take, and
- 27:18Speaker 2: I understand. I know this isn't one of them.
- 27:21Speaker 1: I know this isn't anyway. I was just walking by
- 27:27Speaker 1: a TV just before the show.
- 27:29Speaker 2: I wasn't on it. I haven't been on ESPN two was.
- 27:31Speaker 1: On with the Greenberg and a couple other people get
- 27:34Speaker 1: up And the big story now is that number one
- 27:39Speaker 1: may not be Caleb Williams.
- 27:40Speaker 2: It could be Jayden dian Yeah, I think that went
- 27:42Speaker 2: out the window.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Well, they were just talking.
- 27:44Speaker 2: I'm just yeah, I'm just telling you. I think there's
- 27:46Speaker 2: a report that in principle, the Bears and Falcons have
- 27:50Speaker 2: agreed on a Justin Fields trade. That right, and if
- 27:54Speaker 2: that's true, I think unequivocally Caleb Williams is going to Chicago.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Why why would why if they like Jayden Daniels, why
- 28:00Speaker 1: why does it matter who the quarterback they like to
- 28:02Speaker 1: make that trade for?
- 28:03Speaker 2: FI know, because I think Chicago likes Caleb Williams. If
- 28:07Speaker 2: Chicago decided we're gonna stick with Justin Fields, then they
- 28:11Speaker 2: would trade. Then. I don't know what the other team does. No,
- 28:14Speaker 2: I know what you're saying, But if Chicago stays at
- 28:16Speaker 2: number one, I thinks I think they like Caleb Williams.
- 28:19Speaker 2: Now doesn't mean I'm right, right, yeah, yeah, who knows.
- 28:23Speaker 2: I'm not Ryan.
- 28:24Speaker 1: I'm just saying that that was the talk.
- 28:25Speaker 2: But I think it would be crazy to not take
- 28:27Speaker 2: the best quarterback you know on the board and in
- 28:32Speaker 2: trade your guy.
- 28:33Speaker 1: But why was making the case for Jade and Daniels.
- 28:37Speaker 2: Yeah, there's been a lot, and I do think this
- 28:39Speaker 2: is interesting and I've been trying to pay attention to
- 28:41Speaker 2: this a little bit, just how differently they're all viewed
- 28:46Speaker 2: by different people, you know, And you know, you hear
- 28:50Speaker 2: a lot of Drake May and you know, kind of
- 28:54Speaker 2: a mess mechanically, gets a little wild with his footwork,
- 28:58Speaker 2: you know, doesn't always you know, stay on script, but
- 29:03Speaker 2: you know, tremendous ability size, you know, power Daniels, you know,
- 29:10Speaker 2: dynamic runner in the open field, sometimes guilty of giving
- 29:16Speaker 2: up on the play too quickly and relying on his
- 29:18Speaker 2: legs too much, you know. And then you hear from
- 29:21Speaker 2: different guys and it's totally different on the same player,
- 29:25Speaker 2: which I think kind of points to the whole thing.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Like this quarterback class is considered strong, but I don't
- 29:32Speaker 2: know if there's an alpha in it, Like I don't
- 29:34Speaker 2: know if there's a like even even Trevor Lawrence. Now
- 29:37Speaker 2: I saw I saw another thing. Who was the guy
- 29:43Speaker 2: someone had put together a list of the quarterback prospects
- 29:46Speaker 2: coming out all his grades draft grades might have been
- 29:50Speaker 2: Daniel Jeremiah one of those guys and one of the
- 29:54Speaker 2: one of the bigger name draft gurus, and he had
- 29:59Speaker 2: Trevor Laurren. Caleb Williams was was one over Trevor Lawrence
- 30:05Speaker 2: and then you know, like other guys came in like
- 30:08Speaker 2: over the last five.
- 30:09Speaker 1: Oh the last five years, Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 30:12Speaker 2: You know. So I still I don't think that any
- 30:15Speaker 2: I don't think that Williams is considered to be as
- 30:19Speaker 2: good of a prospect as Lawrence was at that time
- 30:21Speaker 2: in my in my opinion, but this guy would disagree.
- 30:24Speaker 2: I forget who it was.
- 30:25Speaker 1: The way they're talking about or at least before, the
- 30:28Speaker 1: way they were talking about Williams is he's a generational player.
- 30:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't. I like Caleb Williams as you know,
- 30:34Speaker 2: more than you guys do, because I'm not really because
- 30:37Speaker 2: I'm not embarrassed that he that a guy cried after
- 30:40Speaker 2: putting forty something points on the board and losing. But
- 30:43Speaker 2: he he's a little small, yeah, And I don't really
- 30:47Speaker 2: I don't know how you get around that, like to
- 30:49Speaker 2: just say like he can't miss. Now, Kyler Murray was
- 30:53Speaker 2: really small and he was the number one overall pick,
- 30:55Speaker 2: but I don't remember people saying he can't miss.
- 30:57Speaker 1: Yeah, right, you.
- 30:58Speaker 2: Know, he's a generation talent. I think there was a
- 31:01Speaker 2: there was a risk there, yeah, you know, and he's
- 31:03Speaker 2: been good but not great. Yeah, Kyler Murray.
- 31:06Speaker 1: But the other thing is, I think maybe since ESPN
- 31:10Speaker 1: has skin in the game, they they broadcast the draft,
- 31:12Speaker 1: they're creating that drama.
- 31:14Speaker 2: You know, here's a reason to I don't think there's
- 31:16Speaker 2: any question about that. And they'll be pissed when it
- 31:18Speaker 2: comes out that they're picking whoever they pick right, and
- 31:22Speaker 2: that'll come out beforehand and almost always, I mean sometimes
- 31:24Speaker 2: it doesn't, I guess. But remember the year there was
- 31:26Speaker 2: like the first four or five picks that been known yep,
- 31:29Speaker 2: and Goodell was really uh Goodell was really upset about it.
- 31:33Speaker 2: So but you know, it just shows you how and
- 31:37Speaker 2: how concerned they are with things that aren't important. Yeah,
- 31:39Speaker 2: like we got to get the ratings, ratings.
- 31:42Speaker 1: But if it's true that Daniels is rising, that would
- 31:46Speaker 1: be interesting. The other thing, you know, we talked I
- 31:48Speaker 1: think we talked about Tuesday McCarthy seems to be gaining
- 31:51Speaker 1: a little steam JJ McCarthy.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Yeah, And I was a little concerned. I was confused
- 31:55Speaker 2: when when we talked to Mike and Evan about it.
- 31:58Speaker 2: I don't know if if they had sort of and
- 32:00Speaker 2: up to speed on what we were talking about, like,
- 32:03Speaker 2: you know, because like Evan was saying, like you know,
- 32:05Speaker 2: you know, early second round, right, you know, And I
- 32:08Speaker 2: think people are starting to talk abound he was before,
- 32:11Speaker 2: but nationally people are starting to talk about him being
- 32:14Speaker 2: a top half of the first round. Guy. Yeah. Now,
- 32:16Speaker 2: I don't know if that's just this stuff that you're
- 32:19Speaker 2: talking about. Well, it's time to start to make the
- 32:22Speaker 2: promotional tour and get generate interest in this. I don't know.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Yep, so good stuff. Phones are racking up eight five
- 32:30Speaker 1: five pass five hundred emails web radio at Patriots dot com.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Let's see Jack, he writes in for me in arbor.
- 32:39Speaker 1: He's a big Michigan guy and he's got He sent
- 32:42Speaker 1: us pictures of the Michigan weight room, which it's nice.
- 32:48Speaker 2: I don't even think that's considered to be one of
- 32:50Speaker 2: the the elite ones. Yeah, and I'm sure it's better
- 32:53Speaker 2: than the Patriots. Yeah.
- 32:55Speaker 1: The Patriots one is drabbed it and it's crowded and
- 32:58Speaker 1: it used to be half the size. Can you imagine that?
- 33:01Speaker 1: You know? So, but things are evolving in sports, and
- 33:07Speaker 1: the pages right now are behind a little bit, but
- 33:09Speaker 1: they'll they'll get back there. I can guarantee you it's
- 33:12Speaker 1: not going to be an issue for long.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Hey, did you think it was interesting that Kansas City
- 33:19Speaker 2: because Kansas City was like the only really good team
- 33:21Speaker 2: that that fared really bad were bad? Oh yeah, that's
- 33:24Speaker 2: another one. But I thought it was interesting that Kansas
- 33:27Speaker 2: City was as far down the list, which to me
- 33:29Speaker 2: makes perfect sense. Like they're talking about the the little things,
- 33:33Speaker 2: like you know that they promised locker room improvements and
- 33:35Speaker 2: they got a new chairs. That was it, right. I
- 33:38Speaker 2: think it comes down very simply. They hung them out
- 33:41Speaker 2: to dry last year personnel wise, the cheap, you know,
- 33:46Speaker 2: and they didn't. They real bad he got he got
- 33:50Speaker 2: an F minus for an order, No got a deep plus. Yeah,
- 33:55Speaker 2: I just I didn't. I wasn't necessarily so prize the
- 34:00Speaker 2: clock hunt didn't get a good grade, but that kids,
- 34:03Speaker 2: the city as a whole fared so badly. But I
- 34:06Speaker 2: think you look at their their receiver situation last year.
- 34:09Speaker 2: I'm sure those players said we didn't do everything we
- 34:12Speaker 2: could to win this year, and they won anyway, but
- 34:14Speaker 2: I'm sure that they looked at it that way.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Yeah, and you wonder how much of that is you know,
- 34:19Speaker 1: Mahomes always says the right things in public, but how
- 34:22Speaker 1: much does he say behind the scenes to his players, like,
- 34:25Speaker 1: you know, we need better players. It can't be all
- 34:27Speaker 1: me all the time, you know, and people follow him.
- 34:31Speaker 2: Do you imagine if you know, can you imagine if
- 34:36Speaker 2: they respond to that criticism and they say, you know what,
- 34:40Speaker 2: we got to do better, forget it and we go
- 34:42Speaker 2: we re up Lugarious Need and Chris Jones and we
- 34:46Speaker 2: go out and instead of you know, they magically created
- 34:49Speaker 2: cap space by releasing a jag wide receiver and they
- 34:53Speaker 2: go out and sign sign a couple of receivers, and
- 34:56Speaker 2: all of a sudden, you're like, we couldn't beat them
- 34:58Speaker 2: when they didn't have a lot of talent, right you know, Yeah,
- 35:01Speaker 2: that'd be bad news for the rest of the AFC.
- 35:03Speaker 1: Absolutely. All right, let's see what people are looking to
- 35:07Speaker 1: talk about. We'll start off with Cameron in North Carolina.
- 35:12Speaker 1: What's up, Cameron? Hey, how do you guys doing okay?
- 35:16Speaker 2: Doing great?
- 35:17Speaker 9: Hey?
- 35:18Speaker 4: First time caller. First of all, I just want to say,
- 35:21Speaker 4: coming from somebody that doesn't have a great memory, Paul,
- 35:25Speaker 4: your memory is intechable and if you have any tips
- 35:28Speaker 4: to help me out with that.
- 35:30Speaker 10: I'm all ears.
- 35:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I just wish I could. I just wish I
- 35:34Speaker 2: could remember things that are important, like my wife's birthday.
- 35:40Speaker 9: I have that one down there.
- 35:41Speaker 4: It's more of the Patriots memories that get me.
- 35:43Speaker 9: Yeah, But I just had a quick.
- 35:45Speaker 4: Question and actually emailed this a few weeks ago. But
- 35:52Speaker 4: I'm from Carolina and I'm not a Drake May hater,
- 35:55Speaker 4: but I was wondering, do you guys see any similarities
- 35:57Speaker 4: between him and Paston from a few years ago, because
- 36:02Speaker 4: after kind of watching them and looking into them, they
- 36:06Speaker 4: both kind of had the same things coming out in
- 36:10Speaker 4: the draft. Strong arm, decent outside the pocket, good mobility.
- 36:14Speaker 4: They're both six five, didn't play on the best college teams,
- 36:19Speaker 4: and they're also projected to be the third overall quarterback.
- 36:22Speaker 4: But I just want to see if you guys see
- 36:24Speaker 4: similarities between those two.
- 36:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, off the top of my head, I
- 36:28Speaker 2: don't see a lot of similarities. But I'm just going
- 36:31Speaker 2: to try to look up in some of packs and
- 36:34Speaker 2: Lynch's college stats. I don't remember him being considered to
- 36:39Speaker 2: be like a dual threw. I remember him being like
- 36:42Speaker 2: a spread offense kind of timing almost like an air
- 36:45Speaker 2: raid kind of thing. You know, there's a lot of
- 36:48Speaker 2: quick shotgun quick throws, no real progressions.
- 36:52Speaker 4: Go out of the pocket and and make some plays.
- 36:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't remember him being like that, but I will,
- 36:59Speaker 2: I will take your word for that because I'm I
- 37:03Speaker 2: can't find his college dats. I'm kind of trying to.
- 37:05Speaker 4: Find him kind of a random one too, But after
- 37:08Speaker 4: like digging on in a little bit, that's that's just
- 37:10Speaker 4: one person. Obviously, I think Drake may is a little
- 37:12Speaker 4: more advanced, but I just saw some similarities there.
- 37:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, and just so you know, like I
- 37:17Speaker 2: have concerns about all three quarterbacks for different reasons, and
- 37:20Speaker 2: Drake Mays is you know, I thought two years ago,
- 37:24Speaker 2: when he had good talent around him, he was much
- 37:26Speaker 2: better than he was last year, and I would be
- 37:29Speaker 2: looking for him to raise the level around him a
- 37:32Speaker 2: little bit more. Yeah. You know, even though I've been
- 37:34Speaker 2: pro Drake May, I do recognize that he didn't have
- 37:37Speaker 2: a good year last year. And you know, one of
- 37:40Speaker 2: the reasons I heard for that a lot is that
- 37:41Speaker 2: he lost so much. I'm like, well, I'm looking for
- 37:43Speaker 2: you to lift people. Yeah, you know, right, all.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Right, thanks, Cameron. What you know, I thought it was interesting.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Both Elliott wolf and Gerard Mayo have mentioned when they're
- 37:52Speaker 1: talking about quarterbacks, apart from the you know, the physical skills,
- 37:57Speaker 1: the you know, the throwing, the mobility, all that stuff,
- 38:00Speaker 1: they're looking for toughness in leadership. And you wonder how
- 38:06Speaker 1: much of that is recency biased with Mac Jones, you know, you.
- 38:12Speaker 2: Know, I think that's another one of those pushing.
- 38:14Speaker 1: That over and over again, and you just wonder, like
- 38:18Speaker 1: what's on their mind when they're saying that.
- 38:20Speaker 2: You know, that's another one of those that I think,
- 38:23Speaker 2: you know, careful and I didn't, you know, I immediately
- 38:26Speaker 2: got a text from my brother when wolf said it,
- 38:28Speaker 2: because my brother was really impressed with Elliott Wolfe as
- 38:31Speaker 2: we were when we talked abou him. You know, he
- 38:33Speaker 2: was like, I wish you didn't have Do you think
- 38:35Speaker 2: those were rocket shots at Mac? And I was like,
- 38:37Speaker 2: you know what, I could totally understand why people think
- 38:40Speaker 2: they were rocket shots, But as I was listening to him,
- 38:42Speaker 2: I don't necessarily think he was talking about Mac Jones,
- 38:45Speaker 2: but he was talking about what he didn't want. But
- 38:46Speaker 2: it's him, But it's an example. It's impossible to separate
- 38:50Speaker 2: the thing they.
- 38:50Speaker 1: Say is going to be scrutinized as some type of
- 38:57Speaker 1: you know, indictment on either the passwords or existing players
- 39:01Speaker 1: or whatever. It's it's really it's a wild time.
- 39:06Speaker 2: Yeah, Paxlan Lynch wasn't a big runner in college. He
- 39:10Speaker 2: did have thirteen rushing touchdowns one year, but only three
- 39:13Speaker 2: hundred yards and on one hundred attempts. And you know,
- 39:17Speaker 2: I just I think it's different out of that spread,
- 39:21Speaker 2: you know, kind of like goal line stuff as opposed
- 39:25Speaker 2: to being mobile. Yeah, I mean, no one's like Jayden Daniels.
- 39:29Speaker 2: He's a special runner from the quarterback position. But I
- 39:32Speaker 2: think may was more more of a runner than that.
- 39:36Speaker 2: But I mean, I'll look at his stats and see
- 39:39Speaker 2: how much different they are.
- 39:41Speaker 1: While you're doing that, Donnie and Pittsburgh. Right now, Donnie,
- 39:43Speaker 1: did I hear Fred correctly? You guys gave the film
- 39:46Speaker 1: crew access to archival footage on team servers inside job Spygate.
- 39:51Speaker 1: He says on Football, liking the news so far about
- 39:55Speaker 1: who Mayo and Wolf have been publicly meeting with. I
- 39:57Speaker 1: also like the reports that we will target back and
- 40:01Speaker 1: a free agent if those reports are in fact accurately
- 40:03Speaker 1: confirming our speculation of the team's intentions. Mark Daniels also reported,
- 40:08Speaker 1: alongside the free agent and draft plan that Mac is
- 40:11Speaker 1: on his way out.
- 40:13Speaker 2: See that's the kind of report that I'm talking about.
- 40:15Speaker 1: Yeah, with that also being a common speculation over the
- 40:18Speaker 1: last two months, how do you and Paul feel about
- 40:20Speaker 1: having Max Roll confirmed? Like, well, what does he mean?
- 40:26Speaker 2: There's no further confirm confirmation of Mac Jones's status, Like
- 40:31Speaker 2: everybody's been saying he will not be back, right for
- 40:34Speaker 2: a long time. Right now, We'll see what happens.
- 40:37Speaker 1: Has anyone on the team come out and just said that, No,
- 40:40Speaker 1: they haven't said that, you.
- 40:41Speaker 2: Know, and that would be a confirmation, right, But they.
- 40:45Speaker 1: Also haven't said Max our quarterback, you know, and right
- 40:49Speaker 1: you know.
- 40:49Speaker 2: And by the way, just real quick, Drake May ran
- 40:52Speaker 2: for seven hundred yards two years ago and another five
- 40:57Speaker 2: hundred lash of four point fifty last year, So I
- 41:00Speaker 2: think he's more of a runner than Paxton Lynch was
- 41:04Speaker 2: and definitely a better passer. But who knows now the size.
- 41:08Speaker 1: The other thing that we're talking about in this get
- 41:10Speaker 1: up show is that Drake may might fall out of
- 41:14Speaker 1: the top five. He might not even be in the
- 41:16Speaker 1: top five.
- 41:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I am convinced that it's what you said.
- 41:19Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a just creating pr Yeah, Eddie's in LA.
- 41:24Speaker 1: What's up Eddie?
- 41:27Speaker 11: So guys, good calling back in with you guys. Kind
- 41:31Speaker 11: of hard for me to call in now because I
- 41:33Speaker 11: don't know how to really keep up with well, and
- 41:34Speaker 11: I don't even keep up at all. I don't really
- 41:36Speaker 11: watch college football. I want to get into this, I
- 41:38Speaker 11: don't know. I don't even know where to start, you know.
- 41:40Speaker 11: But so yeah, I really appreciate all the information you
- 41:43Speaker 11: guys give, especially Evan and Ducerest Combine right now, so
- 41:46Speaker 11: shout out to them.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Sure, working hard And I.
- 41:49Speaker 11: Was on Evan's boat when he was talking about signing
- 41:54Speaker 11: I mean, going for a lugerious need, but unfortunately got tag.
- 41:58Speaker 2: So yeah, I shouldn't take him off the board.
- 42:01Speaker 1: If you want them, yeah, you can still get them,
- 42:03Speaker 1: but you're going to have to give up, is it?
- 42:05Speaker 1: Because there's two levels of franchise.
- 42:06Speaker 2: Right well, it'ld be two first round picks, but they
- 42:08Speaker 2: they have said that they want to work with him,
- 42:12Speaker 2: they want to resign them. They're putting the tag on
- 42:14Speaker 2: him with the intention of signing him, but in doing
- 42:18Speaker 2: so they told him that they're giving him permission to
- 42:21Speaker 2: talk to other teams if a trade can be worked out.
- 42:24Speaker 2: So that's why I say, you know, you have a
- 42:27Speaker 2: possibility there if you if you want. No, I don't.
- 42:31Speaker 2: I don't think that that would be something the Patriots
- 42:33Speaker 2: would do.
- 42:33Speaker 1: But so Eddie, you said you didn't know where to start?
- 42:37Speaker 1: Why are there a lot of things on your mind?
- 42:41Speaker 11: Is not that I just don't know, like like what
- 42:43Speaker 11: channels they passed the college games on or anything like that.
- 42:46Speaker 11: Just clueless college forbot, I don't know how like the
- 42:49Speaker 11: division's work or.
- 42:50Speaker 1: Well, listen, go to any one of these websites ESPN
- 42:54Speaker 1: or whatever, and they've got their draft people look at
- 42:56Speaker 1: who their top prospects are, and then go to YouTube
- 42:59Speaker 1: and watch the film on the on the top prospects.
- 43:02Speaker 12: You know, that's kind of yeah, that's kind.
- 43:03Speaker 13: Of what I was doing.
- 43:05Speaker 1: That's all anybody does except for the real and now,
- 43:08Speaker 1: you know, take it for the grain of salt, because
- 43:10Speaker 1: you're only going to see their highlights for the most part,
- 43:12Speaker 1: you know.
- 43:12Speaker 11: Yeah, that's also the things I was getting at you.
- 43:14Speaker 11: I was like, I don't know, this is just like
- 43:16Speaker 11: a highlights safe So obviously every play is going to
- 43:17Speaker 11: be good, you know.
- 43:18Speaker 2: Right. So now the people, the professionals are obviously watching
- 43:22Speaker 2: full games, bad games, good games, right, good plays, bad plays.
- 43:26Speaker 1: You know, they're looking at who the defense was they
- 43:28Speaker 1: were playing against you. They're really breaking it down. Uh
- 43:31Speaker 1: we hope.
- 43:32Speaker 3: Uh.
- 43:32Speaker 1: Mike's in Puerto Rico. What's up?
- 43:34Speaker 14: Mike?
- 43:35Speaker 13: Hey guys, you know how you doing?
- 43:37Speaker 1: Good?
- 43:39Speaker 5: Hey?
- 43:40Speaker 13: First of all, I don't know if it's anybody else
- 43:42Speaker 13: can call and confirm this, but the busy signal is
- 43:46Speaker 13: coming in really loud. The busy when when you're holding,
- 43:49Speaker 13: I don't know if that's something with your line.
- 43:51Speaker 1: Why would you hold when there's a busy single? You
- 43:53Speaker 1: hang up and try again? Right?
- 43:56Speaker 15: No?
- 43:57Speaker 13: No, no, no, like as I'm holding right now, like
- 44:00Speaker 13: some thing to get on. Yeah, there was a business thing.
- 44:03Speaker 13: No bleeping in the background, Matt Morrell. I don't know
- 44:06Speaker 13: what you can like every.
- 44:09Speaker 2: He's on it right now, he's on the case, Mike,
- 44:11Speaker 2: he's what he's working two phones back there, I mean
- 44:14Speaker 2: he's working.
- 44:15Speaker 13: And then every like thirty or like a noise comes out.
- 44:19Speaker 13: It sounds like the Predator when he used to like
- 44:22Speaker 13: something like that.
- 44:23Speaker 1: But anyway, that's just Paul after he drinks a cup
- 44:27Speaker 1: of PEPSI burps.
- 44:28Speaker 2: I don't burp, but sometimes I got a little a
- 44:30Speaker 2: little stuffy, So yeah, I give up a little of
- 44:33Speaker 2: that once in a while.
- 44:34Speaker 13: I did have a question, but I see I'm maybe
- 44:37Speaker 13: seen as everybody's uh it's only you guys today, and
- 44:40Speaker 13: I would like to get a sense of the room.
- 44:42Speaker 13: So I'm gonna say it for next week. I make
- 44:46Speaker 13: a point and then uh, just try to see where
- 44:49Speaker 13: you guys feel on this. It's after seeing like the
- 44:54Speaker 13: change in the division or the feel of the organization
- 44:58Speaker 13: over the last couple of weeks. Either of you have
- 45:01Speaker 13: sacrificed any of the Super Bowls in order to get
- 45:07Speaker 13: an organization that allowed you and the fans to be
- 45:13Speaker 13: more engaged and feel more what do you call it,
- 45:17Speaker 13: identify better with the organization? No meaning no, not at all.
- 45:22Speaker 2: No, I don't.
- 45:23Speaker 1: I don't.
- 45:24Speaker 2: I bottom line, as a fan, I want my team
- 45:27Speaker 2: to win, right, I don't need to have someone know
- 45:30Speaker 2: who I am or I think I think anything like that.
- 45:33Speaker 1: I don't want to spoil because I've seen the screeners,
- 45:36Speaker 1: so I don't want to spoil something that Brady says later.
- 45:40Speaker 1: But if you're watching the documentary, watch at the end
- 45:43Speaker 1: what Brady says about this whole run, and I think
- 45:46Speaker 1: he nails it. Okay, So that's it. It's a teaser.
- 45:52Speaker 1: Thanks for the call, Mike, appreciate it. I wish I
- 45:56Speaker 1: was in Puerto Rico right now, probably nice and warm
- 45:58Speaker 1: down there.
- 45:59Speaker 2: Well, you never know what you gonna get on TV
- 46:01Speaker 2: too once you go. Yeah, Jacob's in Washington area.
- 46:04Speaker 1: What's up, Jacob? Jacob Washington State, Jacob oh Man.
- 46:13Speaker 2: Yeah. I thought he was gonna go with would you
- 46:15Speaker 2: give up a Super Bowl for you know, having a
- 46:20Speaker 2: better quarter you know, or whatever quarterback or anybody would
- 46:23Speaker 2: give up the Super Bowl for going nineteen and o?
- 46:25Speaker 2: Fred that's one for one.
- 46:26Speaker 1: Anything he said. I I could care less about feeling
- 46:29Speaker 1: more part of the team.
- 46:30Speaker 2: Or nothing that. Like, people have talked to me a lot,
- 46:33Speaker 2: you know, It's funny. We were talking we started the
- 46:35Speaker 2: show talking about Gerd Mayo and the new regime a lot,
- 46:37Speaker 2: and people have asked me this, So what's up been like?
- 46:39Speaker 2: And I was like, yeah, I'm not gonna lie, Like
- 46:43Speaker 2: there's part of me that looks at it is. I
- 46:46Speaker 2: have a better relationship right now with Girod mao than
- 46:49Speaker 2: I ever did with Bill Belichick. Yeah, now is that
- 46:51Speaker 2: a good thing? Yeah? It is. I'm not. I mean,
- 46:53Speaker 2: we're all human beings, right, But at the end of
- 46:56Speaker 2: the day, if if they're winning five games the next
- 47:00Speaker 2: three years and Girodet gets let go, Like, is that
- 47:03Speaker 2: going to be better for me? Because I was friends
- 47:06Speaker 2: with him? Like, I'm I'm not friends? Is strong? I
- 47:08Speaker 2: have a better relationship with him.
- 47:10Speaker 1: I had a better relationship with Pete Carroll. But you know, like,
- 47:13Speaker 1: thank God for Bill Belichick. You know, that's not what
- 47:18Speaker 1: we're here for.
- 47:18Speaker 2: I mean that it was funny when you know we
- 47:21Speaker 2: would talk to that, you know, Girod, you know, spent
- 47:24Speaker 2: some time with us, you know, not Fred and I,
- 47:27Speaker 2: but the organization and a sort of off the cuff
- 47:31Speaker 2: little Q and a session that we had a couple
- 47:33Speaker 2: of weeks ago. And I happened to be right where
- 47:36Speaker 2: Gerard was when he came into the thing. I was
- 47:38Speaker 2: one of the first people that he stopped and I,
- 47:41Speaker 2: you know, he shook my hand, gave me a little hug,
- 47:43Speaker 2: and I turned. I told you, I turned, and I
- 47:46Speaker 2: joked with Mike Gussell and I said, Deuce it's just
- 47:49Speaker 2: like all the hugs we used to get from Bill.
- 47:51Speaker 2: And we were laughing. But again, yes, we're all human
- 47:56Speaker 2: beings and we liked to sort of be known and able.
- 48:00Speaker 2: It's gonna be nice to be walking down the hall
- 48:02Speaker 2: and if Mayo happens to be coming the other way,
- 48:05Speaker 2: you're not nervous about it. You're not feeling like, am

- 48:20Speaker 1: like you didn't have to like.
- 48:21Speaker 2: That's also how I used to answer that question.
- 48:23Speaker 16: Right.
- 48:23Speaker 1: It wasn't like he treated you differently than anyone else.
- 48:26Speaker 17: You know.
- 48:26Speaker 2: No, he treated some national guys better than anybody else.
- 48:31Speaker 2: But locally we were all sort of on the same
- 48:33Speaker 2: We had no he had no use of tribes, He

- 49:32Speaker 7: As I think back over the past few seasons, I
- 49:35Speaker 7: wanted to thank my most trusted game day teammate, Toastitos.
- 49:41Speaker 7: As I recall the last minute grocery runs in late
- 49:44Speaker 7: night dishwashing, the salty defeats and spicy victories, I realize

- 50:06Speaker 16: And we are back with another edition of the PU
- 50:09Speaker 16: Halftime Show. I am joined by Alex and Chris. All right,
- 50:12Speaker 16: it's got some new new talent on air. Chris, we
- 50:15Speaker 16: did good last time.
- 50:15Speaker 19: Welcome. All right.
- 50:17Speaker 16: As always, we start off with some trivia. I worked
- 50:20Speaker 16: hard on this, guys, so all right, big stuff, don't
- 50:23Speaker 16: answer them. Question one, it is the Combine? So what
- 50:27Speaker 16: was Tom Brady's forty time at the combine?
- 50:30Speaker 19: Question two? On the Patriots current roster? Who is the
- 50:34Speaker 19: oldest player?
- 50:35Speaker 16: And now this might have changed from when I said it,
- 50:37Speaker 16: but current roster will go from it if it's changed
- 50:40Speaker 16: in the basket couple of days ago for a right,
- 50:41Speaker 16: oldest player oldest Patriots player on the current roster? And
- 50:46Speaker 16: number three, how many times have the Patriots worn white
- 50:50Speaker 16: in the Super Bowl? All right, send your answers to
- 50:53Speaker 16: the Webradio Patriots dot com and guys, the topic today.
- 50:57Speaker 16: Chris picked this one because you know he's a rookie
- 50:59Speaker 16: to the show. Don't make him the topics. He said,
- 51:02Speaker 16: as an athlete, what has been your favorite moment and
- 51:06Speaker 16: your worst moment? All right, Chris, he wants to start
- 51:09Speaker 16: young guy.
- 51:10Speaker 2: I can't unless A wants to say, you.
- 51:12Speaker 19: Want to start ladies first, ladies.
- 51:14Speaker 5: I think I've told one of my embarrassing ones on
- 51:17Speaker 5: the show and I first got a rep. But I
- 51:21Speaker 5: definitely ate the track doing hurdles before.
- 51:24Speaker 20: Oh that stinks.
- 51:26Speaker 5: That's never fun.
- 51:27Speaker 19: All right, are we doing worse first? Then we'll go around? Okay,
- 51:30Speaker 19: all right, Chris, go for it.
- 51:31Speaker 2: My worst might take a little bit.
- 51:32Speaker 14: But it's not that long. So I forget what gravey
- 51:36Speaker 14: we're in. We're in middle school football whatever.
- 51:38Speaker 19: It's four years ago.
- 51:40Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 51:40Speaker 1: You guys know me so well.
- 51:42Speaker 14: Middle school football. I was a full back. My coaches
- 51:46Speaker 14: trusted me with the football. We were Finally we were
- 51:48Speaker 14: playing Marlborough. Marlborough they always had our number when we
- 51:52Speaker 14: were younger, and we it came down to the wire.
- 51:55Speaker 14: All we had to do was run the ball out.
- 51:57Speaker 2: The game would end.
- 51:58Speaker 14: I was getting the ball every play, thirty four trap
- 52:01Speaker 14: handed off to Chris. The last time they handed it
- 52:05Speaker 14: off to me. All I had to do was go down.
- 52:06Speaker 2: The gameble have ended.
- 52:08Speaker 14: Kids stripped down on my hand, ran his score touchdown.
- 52:10Speaker 2: We lost.
- 52:10Speaker 19: I think I saw that on Twitter.
- 52:12Speaker 1: You might have.
- 52:13Speaker 2: Honestly, you might have.
- 52:14Speaker 1: Because everybody talks about it.
- 52:15Speaker 2: Even to this day.
- 52:16Speaker 1: I can't live it down and it hurts. Oh, it's tough.
- 52:22Speaker 2: Every time we're all the other my former teammates.
- 52:25Speaker 1: Hold on to the ball beating. It's unbelievable.
- 52:28Speaker 14: It's unbelievable.
- 52:29Speaker 16: All right, I'll go with this, Listen, I've had something.
- 52:31Speaker 16: I've lost NCAA games, I've like lost big high school games.
- 52:34Speaker 16: I'm gonna go with the most embarrassing no, no, no,
- 52:38Speaker 16: So this this is the most embarrassing.
- 52:40Speaker 19: Moment, all right.
- 52:40Speaker 16: So I played Seacoast Academy soccer and we were playing
- 52:45Speaker 16: against Red Bulls New York Academy team, and so I
- 52:47Speaker 16: was still pretty new to this team, and I was
- 52:50Speaker 16: on the bench and they're like, all right, we got
- 52:52Speaker 16: teas like warm up going, and so I'm ready to go.
- 52:55Speaker 16: I'm juiced up, all right? What I forgot where I
- 52:58Speaker 16: didn't even know this could happen. They gave me some
- 53:01Speaker 16: new socks and so put my boots on, tied them
- 53:05Speaker 16: up for good, ran on.
- 53:06Speaker 19: I kid you not.
- 53:08Speaker 16: My feet kept coming out in my cleat, like and
- 53:10Speaker 16: what you need those in soccer until I'm just like barefoot.
- 53:12Speaker 16: They had to sub me out and I like, I
- 53:13Speaker 16: couldn't do anything. It was the most embarrassing thing ever.
- 53:15Speaker 16: They get it was crazy. But It's like I've worn
- 53:18Speaker 16: new socks before. I've never had this happen on if
- 53:20Speaker 16: was the soul in the cleat. But I'm like running
- 53:22Speaker 16: down the line and I'm next thing. I know, I'm barefoot.
- 53:24Speaker 1: You're too fast. I ran out my shoes, ran out
- 53:26Speaker 1: my shoes, ran I give.
- 53:29Speaker 5: One more quick one just because I had told the
- 53:31Speaker 5: hurdle story on PU before. But so this is pretty
- 53:36Speaker 5: timely too, because we were just talking about hydration with Evan. Yeah,
- 53:40Speaker 5: well it's gonna be Thursday's show by the time people
- 53:42Speaker 5: are listening to this. But I was a perpetually dehydrated
- 53:46Speaker 5: little kid. And I remember I was doing a soccer
- 53:49Speaker 5: throw in and simultaneously, as I'm throwing the ball, both
- 53:54Speaker 5: of my CAFs cramped up at the same time. The
- 53:57Speaker 5: worst Charlie horse I've ever had to this day in
- 53:59Speaker 5: both calves.
- 54:00Speaker 1: I just fell.
- 54:01Speaker 5: So the ball goes like straight up in the air
- 54:04Speaker 5: and I just collapsed.
- 54:05Speaker 1: And no one knew what was wrong with me.
- 54:07Speaker 5: But I like couldn't move my legs, and I was
- 54:10Speaker 5: just like it was the first time I was ever
- 54:14Speaker 5: like in that much pain. You didn't even know what
- 54:17Speaker 5: was such a stupid thing, Like it wasn't even an injury.
- 54:20Speaker 2: I just had to drink water.
- 54:21Speaker 14: That probably looked way more serious than it actually was, too.
- 54:24Speaker 2: Yeah walking, Oh yeah, all.
- 54:27Speaker 16: Right, Chris, Let's let's get to our favorite moment. All right,
- 54:29Speaker 16: all right, you want to go first.
- 54:31Speaker 14: My favorite moment, it's fairly simple. We wanted state championship
- 54:34Speaker 14: here my junior year of high school Agealette Stadium. It
- 54:38Speaker 14: was a really big day beating North outle Bro team
- 54:40Speaker 14: went thirteen and oh my junior year.
- 54:43Speaker 2: Which was what year, twenty eighteen.
- 54:46Speaker 1: I bet you I was here.
- 54:47Speaker 14: You might have been.
- 54:48Speaker 2: I was here, you might have been, but we did live.
- 54:50Speaker 2: For sure, we did secure victory.
- 54:52Speaker 14: I did not play very much junior year.
- 54:53Speaker 16: But because you let the ball go to the other
- 54:55Speaker 16: team when you were a full back when I was
- 54:56Speaker 16: like fifth grade, exactly taped exactly, but no, that was
- 55:00Speaker 16: a really cool moment, just experiencing the whole July stadium atmosphere,
- 55:04Speaker 16: and I mean it felt like I mean, there was
- 55:06Speaker 16: probably two thousand fans instead of seventy thousand.
- 55:09Speaker 14: But I mean that whole experience was just unbelievable, and
- 55:13Speaker 14: it came down to the wire. We won by like
- 55:14Speaker 14: two points, and I mean we were on the bus
- 55:17Speaker 14: hide home and it was it was a fever dream.
- 55:19Speaker 14: It was unbelievable.
- 55:20Speaker 19: High school hero all right, asks what you got?
- 55:23Speaker 5: Okay, So I'm back in middle school, like I must
- 55:27Speaker 5: have been in like sixth grade. My dad's my coach,
- 55:29Speaker 5: and my two older cousins, Lauren and Nina, are at
- 55:32Speaker 5: my soccer game, and I worshiped them. They were both
- 55:35Speaker 5: just like filthy, filthy athletes, such good soccer players, so
- 55:40Speaker 5: I really looked up to them. I wanted to have
- 55:41Speaker 5: a good game, but I got mad because our goalie
- 55:44Speaker 5: couldn't attend because she was making like her first communion
- 55:47Speaker 5: or something. So I had to be the goalie and
- 55:52Speaker 5: my dad was the coach. So I was the girl
- 55:54Speaker 5: that got thrown into like literally every position that was needed. Correct,
- 55:58Speaker 5: are you kidding me? Like I'm not going to score
- 56:00Speaker 5: a goal today in front of my cousins. I was
- 56:02Speaker 5: so pissed, but I was determined to have like the
- 56:04Speaker 5: best substitute goalie performance of my life and one it
- 56:09Speaker 5: was a shutout, didn't let up a goal. I made
- 56:12Speaker 5: some crazy diving saves that people were like super impressed about,
- 56:16Speaker 5: like it was an out of body experience.
- 56:19Speaker 19: You got the juice, You got the juice.
- 56:20Speaker 5: And just like I remember, a girl was on a breakaway.
- 56:23Speaker 5: This was the highlight of the moment. There was a
- 56:25Speaker 5: girl on a breakaway from the other team, and I
- 56:28Speaker 5: just came out to cut off the angle and just
- 56:30Speaker 5: jumped on the ball like no fear at all. She
- 56:33Speaker 5: just fell and tripped over me, and like everyone was
- 56:36Speaker 5: like Alex. We thought that was for sure a goal
- 56:38Speaker 5: like that would have lost us the game, and everyone
- 56:41Speaker 5: was like, great job. And I saw my cousins cheering
- 56:43Speaker 5: for me, and I thought it was great.
- 56:44Speaker 16: There you go, all right for me, I'll do new
- 56:47Speaker 16: Mac Championship. We'd be Mit. I don't think it was
- 56:50Speaker 16: over time.
- 56:51Speaker 2: It was.
- 56:51Speaker 20: It was close though.
- 56:52Speaker 16: It was like two to one last second, and to
- 56:54Speaker 16: be fair, and I can say it now, it was
- 56:55Speaker 16: like ten years ago. Mit low Key scored bar down
- 56:59Speaker 16: no v a R. So we kept playing our coaches
- 57:01Speaker 16: like Dicky, Dicky, kick the ball out, kick the ball,
- 57:05Speaker 16: and we scored it. So, yeah, that was awesome.
- 57:10Speaker 14: It's probably back in your day they probably didn't have
- 57:12Speaker 14: that VR show.
- 57:13Speaker 19: Oh my god, easy, easy, easy.
- 57:17Speaker 2: For you in high school?
- 57:18Speaker 1: Yeah we had no.
- 57:20Speaker 16: But yeah, so that got us to n c AS
- 57:22Speaker 16: now is great so you know, well soccer career stuff.
- 57:25Speaker 16: But all right, guys, thanks for joining the show. If
- 57:28Speaker 16: you got the trivia, I don't even know we're giving
- 57:30Speaker 16: away anymore, but I'm sure you're gonna get something if
- 57:32Speaker 16: you got the trivia, right, so I send you at
- 57:34Speaker 16: answers webre of Patriots dot com. And uh, let's get back.
- 57:37Speaker 19: To the show.
- 57:40Speaker 21: When someone accidentally threw away the school play costumes, oh no,
- 57:45Speaker 21: replacements were shipped with FedEx and with picture proof of delivery,
- 57:48Speaker 21: everyone could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx where
- 57:52Speaker 21: now it's next for residential delivery.
- 57:55Speaker 2: Only and now great moments in history.
- 58:02Speaker 17: Andrew used to go to the same gym as Andy
- 58:05Speaker 17: Hart right on run over here, so we'd see him
- 58:08Speaker 17: every morning before work. So he said, one day at
- 58:11Speaker 17: the gym, there's this guy and there was a boxing
- 58:14Speaker 17: one of those big boxing bags, and the guy was
- 58:16Speaker 17: like hitting it really hard and grutting and whatever and
- 58:19Speaker 17: like making a big scene, and he was like six
- 58:21Speaker 17: point thirty in the morning, like what is this guy doing?
- 58:24Speaker 17: So he was about to go to Andy and be
- 58:25Speaker 17: like check out this guy, and then all of a sudden, Andy,
- 58:29Speaker 17: as soon as the guy was done, Andy went over
- 58:32Speaker 17: and he started doing the same thing to the bag
- 58:35Speaker 17: and Andrew. Andrew was like, he was like, I was
- 58:39Speaker 17: literally like seconds away from being a hey, check.
- 58:41Speaker 8: Out this guy.
- 58:41Speaker 1: So that's part of Andy's routine that he never really
- 58:44Speaker 1: told us about the heavy bag. We didn't know that
- 58:46Speaker 1: that was something he uses, the heavy bag.
- 58:48Speaker 17: And Andrew was about to make fun of the other guy,
- 58:50Speaker 17: so he must have to.
- 58:51Speaker 1: Stand really close with those short arms.
- 58:53Speaker 19: Yeah, that's another great moment from.
- 58:59Speaker 1: Just just see Andy with the zubas on, just you know,
- 59:02Speaker 1: pounding away at the bag.
- 59:03Speaker 2: That's a good one that I hadn't heard, but hadn't
- 59:05Speaker 2: heard that one.
- 59:06Speaker 1: Does he head butt the bag too, because that could
- 59:08Speaker 1: do damage.
- 59:09Speaker 2: Oh, I would not want to be talking about knocking
- 59:11Speaker 2: the stuffing out.
- 59:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I would not want to be head butted by
- 59:14Speaker 1: his nogging. That would be really bad. Probably had a
- 59:17Speaker 1: little trivia.
- 59:18Speaker 2: That's my favorite time. I got my my halftime pizza.
- 59:23Speaker 2: I'm all set'l be ready to go.
- 59:24Speaker 1: They've been talking about it a lot on Twitter today.
- 59:27Speaker 1: What was Tom Brady's forty time at the combine?
- 59:31Speaker 2: I got to disqualify myself because I looked it up. Yeah,
- 59:33Speaker 2: five one seven.
- 59:34Speaker 1: Five to eight said five one seven is what he
- 59:38Speaker 1: did today?
- 59:39Speaker 2: Yeah, and he did. He did five one eight. Uh,
- 59:42Speaker 2: five one seven. It was virtually the same, yeah, which
- 59:44Speaker 2: is still remarkable. Oh yeah, he didn't faster, but it's
- 59:47Speaker 2: I think it said on the Uh when I looked
- 59:50Speaker 2: it up, it was five one seven and five. Now
- 59:53Speaker 2: he did two today. He did two with the Nobuilt
- 59:55Speaker 2: Noble thing, five one eight and five one two right
- 59:58Speaker 2: because they had to stop one and one of them
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: was five to one to two right. But at the
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: combine he did a five two eight, So he was
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: faster by a tenth of a second, which is, like
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: you said, amazing. And then you know, I saw Brian
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: Morris said, if I did that, what tom Brady's combine time?
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: You google it says five one seven.
- 1:00:18Speaker 8: Really anyway, Tyler in New York won that one.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Yeah, Tyler in New York.
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: Basically you could have said anything and found found something
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: to pat you. But I think that, like, it is
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: remarkable that forty five, what is he forty six? Yeah,
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: that he's running the same that he did when he
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: was twenty.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: That of personal messuse and train the way he did,
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: you might be able to do that.
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: I'm sure I could run the same right now. Well,
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: that's not saying much, right exactly, wouldn't be five to
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: one on the Patriots current roster, current roster, current? Who
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: is the oldest player? That's a good question, oldest player
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: on the current roster?
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: A hint, yeah, Specialty, I failed, Cody Davis. You got
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: it one, Cody Davis. And finally, how many times had
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: the Patriots worn white in the Super Bowl?
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: White in the Superbowl?
- 1:01:20Speaker 8: Adam and Louisiana won the last Trivy question?
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: Two thousan four h.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: Three five, five times according to the person who did that.
- 1:01:37Speaker 8: Okay, so the winner was Patty and Agawa Patty and.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: Yeah, ninety six they wore white two thousand and four
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: they were white. I don't know, Yeah they did. First,
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: The Falcons game they wore white right again? You know,
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: I believe they did, But like so that would have
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: meant that they were white again. I just know that
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: they won against the Rams. They must have worn white. Yeah,
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: I forgot that one. Eighteen, So that's four. There must
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: have been another one that I forgot eighty six. Did
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: they wear white against the Seahawks?
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: Eighty six?
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: Yeah, Seahawks, no, eighty six, they were red red, okay,
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: eighty five, but yeah, yep.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: Speaking of Jeopardy, I was humming that song you said
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: you were watching last night.
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: Yeah, and the guy in the middle you think, you know, yeah,
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: he looked so I didn't really think of it when
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: he got introduced. His name was Jake. I don't remember
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: the last name. But then you know when they come
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: back from that first break in the middle of the
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: first round, where they sort of tell a little story
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: about themselves. Well, I wasn't really paying attention until his answer,
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: and I guess it was something about the first time
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: he was on. Jerry, it's like the tournament champion, so
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: he had been on before the first time. You had
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: said you were gonna do something something special with your
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: significant other and alcohol would be involved or something like that,
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: and he started answering that. He went to Gilette Stadium,
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: went to the top of the lighthouse and with his
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: girlfriend and needed the hard Seltzers or something like that
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: to drink to get past the misery of this season,
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: you know, having to endure the season. But when he like,
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: I wasn't you know, like I said, it was half
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: paying attention. And then all of a sudden I heard
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: him say the top of the lighthouse that joe Lets Stadium.
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: I went, WHOA. And I looked and I was like,
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: he kind of looked familiar to me, like one of
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: those guys that sort of comes to training camp all
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: the time and lingers around the tent and talks to us.
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: But you didn't recognize I immediately texted Fred. I was like,
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: you want because I figured you might recognize the tent anymore.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: I'm up up on the ramp even after the Oh yeah,
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: you go down and mingle because you got to go
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: to the availabilities.
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: I want to do my job.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: I don't go down there. So I didn't recognize him.
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: But you said you might be a Patriots fan who
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: comes to campbell.
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not not positive. His name was Jake. If anybody,
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: if Jake is listening, you know, maybe he can let
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: us know. Yeah, that was being He had some great
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: reactions when he would miss one miss a question. Yeah,
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: like that he clearly knew, and he would like be
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: so demonstratively, like I knew that one.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: And this was the Tournament of Champions, right, he must
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: be pretty good.
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I guess it was weird because like one
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: of the the guy who won last night, Like so
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: they have a bunch of rounds and then they go
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: to the you know one of the Oh it might
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: have been two nights ago. The guy who won had
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: only won three times, three games, and he qualified for
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: the Tournament of Champions. I don't know how that works.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: But a tough year, I guess. And then Paul got
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: a I say only Paul got a speeding ticket while
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: whilst driving through Virginia. A lot of people writing in
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: with advice.
- 1:04:51Speaker 15: Uh.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: Tayshawn writes in from Connecticut. I got a ticket recently
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: driving through Virginia heading down to Myrtle Beach from Connecticut.
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: The cop told me I had a good record as well,
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: but still gave me the ticket.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: In my head, excuse me, in my head, it's because
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: you thought I wasn't gonna come back and fight it,
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: but I ended up making a fun road trip out
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: of it. Since I have friends in Manassas. Anyway, I
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: was going eighty four and to seventy, and usually they
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: knocked that down to defective equipment violation. But the judge
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: saw that I came all the way from Connecticut and
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: on top of that, had a clean driving record, she
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: dismissed it completely.
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: And I didn't have to pay any court fees either,
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: And you just did it all on your own. Yeah,
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: And to think the cheapest lawyer was trying to charge
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: me five hundred when I spent less in tolls in gas.
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: Right, So that would have been my preferred mode because
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: I think everything that he just said, I makes perfect
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: sense to me. If you get a you go to
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: a traffic court at district court for general thing, you know,
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: like I'm not there on a misdemeanor like you know,
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: robbery or you know anything violent. You come all the
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: way from Massachusetts to go to Virginia to appear court.
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: I got to think they're gonna they're gonna work with
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: you if you're not a jerk, right right, But there's
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: no way I'm doing that. I'm not going down there
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: again to do it. And I get what he did.
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: He made a fun road trip out of it to
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: visit friends. But I felt like that, and I was like,
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: I'm not going to pay a lawyer to do this.
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: It cost one hundred and seventy bucks. Oh I paid it.
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I paid it. I went online and paid searcharge.
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: You get a search Yeah, I'm going.
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: To get a search charge out of it. I'm sure.
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: Jonathan in Virginia says, Paul, don't hire a lawyer for
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: your speeding ticket. Those guys take your money for something
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: you can do yourself. If the court allows you to
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: attend to hearing, virtually do so.
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: Yeah. I did not see any options for you.
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: Driving record is clean. So he goes on and on,
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: but he's saying, you can do it yourself. If do
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: it yourself, if you.
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: Can, that would have been my course of action. And
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: I just kind of said, you know what I had.
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: I actually remember, you know Brad on the Eastern Shore. Yeah,
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: he actually hit me up on Twitter and said, don't
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: fool around with it. He said, that's they'll consider that
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: reckless driving, which the guy specifically told me it's not
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: reckless driving. He because I told you, we originally said
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: I was going ninety two, right, And I said that's
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: the only thing that the only talkback I had at
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: all was he goes, I had you at ninety two.
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: When I turned real quick, I said I wasn't going
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: ninety two, and he goes, well, and then I said
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: I go, and everybody was blowing by me in the
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: left lane. And that's when he said, well, you change
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: lanes when you went by me. But I didn't know
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: he was there, Like I was in the right lane,
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: and guys were flying by me, including Eldred Bang like
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: with the eighteen wheelers. And when he came back, he said,
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: you had a you have a spotless driving record. I
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: put down eighty five. That way, it's not considered reckless driving.
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: Now Brad said he got an eighty two and they
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: considered it reckless driving. So that kind of scared me.
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: So I just said, I'm just going to go online
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: and pay this thing I wanted to go, you know
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: what I mean? Yeah, yeah, the one I got in Maryland,
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: I just paid. Yeah, So I you know, it's it.
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: I'm gonna have to deal with it on insurance, which stanks.
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: But what are you gonna do? I think you could
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: talk to Robert for me and say, listen, Paul's having
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: a tough time. Can you get them a bonus?
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: We get all these insurance companies that sponsor us. I'm
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: sure one of them can help.
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: Can you get Ross insurance maybe? Yeah, you know, can
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: can we look into that?
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: I need some I need some cash. I need some
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: cash flow.
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: Christian Christians in Virginia, what's up, Christian.
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: Jules, You've been working here for twenty minutes. You gonna
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: you can? Let me make it.
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: Christian Christians in Virginia. I thought he might have a
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: wait or went a way in. But these people, they
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: hold on for thirty minutes and then it's their turn
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: and they're gone.
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: And maybe it's that annoying buzz sound in the background.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: The morel can't seem to fix. Call for Puerto Rico.
- 1:08:49Speaker 20: There's no buzz sound.
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: Alex and Florida, Alex and Florida, what's up?
- 1:08:54Speaker 9: Okay, what's going on?
- 1:08:55Speaker 22: Guys? Hey, lifelong Patriots fan. I'm from New England, but
- 1:08:59Speaker 22: move to Florida, and I'm glad to not be in
- 1:09:03Speaker 22: New England right now. But I guess I'm just concerned
- 1:09:05Speaker 22: about the direction of the Patriots because I get a
- 1:09:08Speaker 22: new rapport every two minutes, like when I change clothes,
- 1:09:11Speaker 22: and it's just kind of conflicting, like the latest one
- 1:09:14Speaker 22: from Matt math Live. Now they want to draft a quarterback,
- 1:09:18Speaker 22: sign a veteran, release Matt Jones, or trade Mac Jones.
- 1:09:21Speaker 9: Whatever that is.
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: That's not anything new. Yeah, No, that's what we've been
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: talking about for the whole off season. Yeah, Jacoby Brissette,
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: Jayden Daniels, and let Mac Jones go somewhere we can
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: get a second chance.
- 1:09:38Speaker 15: I don't.
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: I don't.
- 1:09:40Speaker 22: I don't really have confidence in May, But I guess
- 1:09:42Speaker 22: my question is, are we confident in the people that
- 1:09:47Speaker 22: we have in place in the direction that we're heading. Obviously,
- 1:09:49Speaker 22: I know that there's a lot going on with the combine,
- 1:09:54Speaker 22: a lot of smoke and mirrors, and you know, Alex.
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: We have a cigarette weapon when it comes to a
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: valaluating quarterbacks. Ben McAdoo. Ben mcadoo's gonna.
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: Tell us I don't. I don't have confidence, but I'm not,
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: like not confident. These guys have never been in these
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: positions before, so I don't know how you they don't
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: have a track record. I don't know how you can
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: feel great about that. But that doesn't mean they can't
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: do it. Right, like Sean McVay and Mike McDaniel, and
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: these guys were first time coaches and they were good.
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: So what's what's stopping girod mao from being good?
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: Round?
- 1:10:26Speaker 22: Pretty good last year as far as the quarterback play
- 1:10:29Speaker 22: and gaming for the offense based off of what he had, Yeah,
- 1:10:35Speaker 22: I think I think this team needs deuce right obviously,
- 1:10:38Speaker 22: not just flair, not just flash, but I think it
- 1:10:40Speaker 22: needs juice. If you looked at the stadium compared to
- 1:10:42Speaker 22: years past with like the Patriots and Tom Brady, there
- 1:10:45Speaker 22: was a lot of suits, there was a lot of
- 1:10:47Speaker 22: beliefs in faith, and last year it was dead. It
- 1:10:50Speaker 22: was hard to even watch the game because there's.
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: Just no you weren't scoring any point because they lost
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: every game. They won one home game last.
- 1:10:59Speaker 22: Year, but they you got to worry about on Winnu
- 1:11:01Speaker 22: and retaining o line and getting him some weapons. So
- 1:11:05Speaker 22: I'm kind of wondering how they're going to scheme this
- 1:11:09Speaker 22: up as far as like do you listen to offers
- 1:11:12Speaker 22: for Dustin Jefferson and take a quarterback later or sign
- 1:11:16Speaker 22: a veteran Personally, I think the Daniels route and trying
- 1:11:21Speaker 22: to find receiver help and offensive line help later would
- 1:11:25Speaker 22: be fundamental because I think that having a good quarterback
- 1:11:29Speaker 22: is fundamentally to any good team.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: Right, And that'd and that very well, maybe what they do,
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: you know, who knows? It just all depends thanks out?
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: Is it all depends on.
- 1:11:37Speaker 15: Who they like?
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: Yeah? Exactly. And I'm not I said this a lot
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: and I wrote it a lot in the mail bag
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: on Tuesday. You know, I'm not advocating let's take a quarterback,
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: but because you know, we need a quarterback, if they
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: like one of those three guys, whichever one is the
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: one that's available, if they like him, I think they
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: have to take him. But if they don't like him,
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: then when you you think about other options, my top
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: one would be to trade down and try to add
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: some high picks and you know, and take a tackle
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: or take a wide receiver a little bit later and
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: then figure out quarterback you know, another time. But I'm
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: not a big fan of build the team and then
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: put the quarterback in. Who's the quarterback you're putting in? Right?
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: How are you going to guarantee that you're going to
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: get the quarterback?
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: Like, if you build a really good team, your draft
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: pick is going to go down right well.
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: To me, the best case scenario is if Ben McAdoo
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: really likes JJ McCarthy, you can get him at the
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: top of the second round. Pick Marvin Harrison in the
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: first round.
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: Now you're going now, you know, and I know what
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: you're trying to do to me? Are you really like
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: trying to like, you know, put your stock in like
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: a second round pick? Is that what you really want
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: to know?
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: I'm putting my stock in Ben mcado in his italient evaluations,
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: he's a prolific quarterback.
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: He's one. He's one for one.
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: Yeah, prolific.
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: He had Josh Allen prolific.
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: Let's go to Ethan in California. What's up Ethan? Ethan?
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: What is going on today? Is it because of the
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: busy signal noise?
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: Miss Morrell can't get the job done? He confirmed the
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: busy signal noise.
- 1:13:15Speaker 20: So Mike was in the right.
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: I think, who I think. What happens is people call
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: from work because we're a noontime show, and then the
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: boss walks by and they.
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: Have to hang up, you know, cheez it. Yeah, but
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: if they hang up, would they be off the line
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: that's on our end.
- 1:13:31Speaker 8: That's a glitch.
- 1:13:31Speaker 20: On our end.
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: Oh really, when people hang up, they still stay on
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: the line.
- 1:13:35Speaker 8: What's causing the busy line? But people are on the
- 1:13:38Speaker 8: line on hold and then hang up, it's causing a
- 1:13:40Speaker 8: tone for the rest of the people on hold.
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: Oh, by the way, Richard Lewis yesterday, I did see that,
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: and you know, obviously he was a comedian, but he
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: was in a lot of the Curb Your Enthusiasm episodes
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: and there were a lot of clips I was I
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: was laughing out loud.
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: Well, I laughed, you know. And Larry David have said
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: it many times that his relationship with rich Lewis is
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: pretty much what you see because we fight all the
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: time like cats and dogs, and we love each other.
- 1:14:08Speaker 8: That they were born three days apart in the same
- 1:14:10Speaker 8: hospital and grew up.
- 1:14:11Speaker 19: Together, is that right?
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: Wow? But some of those clothes I forgot about some
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: you know, I haven't watched Curb in a walt one.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: So I yeah, I'm not. You've always been a much
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: more serious Curb watcher than than me. But do you
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: what do you think of Richard Lewis like overall outside
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: of Curb, like as a comedian? Okay, yeah, I never really.
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: Once in a while he made me laugh. But you know,
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: he'd go on these rants, and you know, I used
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: to be really into comics and you know, comedy and
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: all that, and he's got a lot of Woody Allen
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: in him. He's got a lot of you know, Yeah,
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: it's very Jewish humor, you know, so if you know
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: a lot of Jewish people, a lot of it's more
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: funny to you than if you don't. Yeah, I thought
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: he was funny.
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: That's why maybe I like Sebastian man Scalco so much.
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: A lot of it is the Italian stuff. He hysteric
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: and I can totally relate to it right right.
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: But when he was with Larry David, it was just
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: so natural, very Oh yeah.
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: No, I thought the curb Richard Lewis was really funny,
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: Like those those clips that you're talking about were funny. Yeah,
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: I just never It's kind of like Seinfeld. Seinfeld's one
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: of my favorite shows. Ever. I don't think Jerry Seinfeld
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: the stand up was all that funny.
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: Now, this is where I pushed back.
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: Bob Doyle agrees with you. Yeah, like he's like, I can't.
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: It was like almost I offended him, Like I just
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: don't think he was all that funny.
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: Yeah, well, the stuff that you saw when they would
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: open the show that wasn't that was just for the show.
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: But I've seen him in person. I saw him at
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: the Paradise.
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm sure there's much better.
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: He had the show. I was a Jerry Seinfeld fan
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: before he was Jerry Seinfeld.
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: You invented it, that's right. Yeah, you know, much much
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: like everything that we didn't get credit for. We were
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: ahead of the curve.
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: I introduced him to the world. Let's see, Oh, Patty
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: and Agawan has been holding on? What's up, Patty? Patty? Hey,
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: I didn't hang up on you guys, that's all right,
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: what's up?
- 1:16:04Speaker 5: All right?
- 1:16:05Speaker 9: I wanted to.
- 1:16:07Speaker 12: Just tell you why I have concerns about Caleb Williams
- 1:16:10Speaker 12: if by the op chance he is there at number three.
- 1:16:13Speaker 12: But also, like Tuesday, Fred, you proposed justin not justin Jefferson,
- 1:16:19Speaker 12: but justin Herbert to the Patriots.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: No, I was only kidding.
- 1:16:23Speaker 12: Oh no, listen, like the night before I had I
- 1:16:26Speaker 12: was going to compose some crazy conspiracy theory and email
- 1:16:29Speaker 12: it in on how he would end up a Patriot,
- 1:16:32Speaker 12: and then I decided against it when you brought it up.
- 1:16:34Speaker 12: I was like, oh, man, I should have wrote the email.
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: Well, that was in the context of Jim Harbaugh knowing
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: JJ McCarthy better than any coach in the NFL, and
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: if he was really that good, Harbaugh would would trade
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: Herbert and take McCarthy.
- 1:16:49Speaker 12: Yeah, that was going to be part of him taking
- 1:16:51Speaker 12: McCarthy as So, Paul, I'll give you a couple of
- 1:16:54Speaker 12: real valid issues that I have with Caleb Williams. You
- 1:16:59Speaker 12: touched on one size that kind of concerns me. I mean,
- 1:17:02Speaker 12: he's a bigger he's a bigger kid, so thicker. I
- 1:17:05Speaker 12: think he can withstand the punishment, but I think like
- 1:17:09Speaker 12: getting balls batted down at the line of scrimmage. And
- 1:17:11Speaker 12: the other big thing to me is the fumbles. He's
- 1:17:13Speaker 12: had thirty fumbles in the past three seasons. Interceptions, he
- 1:17:19Speaker 12: doesn't throw that many. I think he threw like five.
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: Ball last year, had five Notre Dame game.
- 1:17:25Speaker 12: Yeah, but he plays a little too loosey goosey.
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: I mean, absolutely, Val that's a valid criticism, But I
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: just think that's part and parcel to being a star
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: in college. You try to do more than you should.
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: But I but I totally I totally think that's a
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: valid criticism. He's definitely loose with the ball, and uh
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: he's small, Yeah, he's small. I don't worry about the
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: batted down at the line of scrimmage because I've seen
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: six six guys get you know, countless passes bad at
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: the line of scrimmage because the guys on the other
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: side are just as big as you. And then they
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: put their arms up. In the era, everybody does Brady did.
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: Half of Brady's picks were on passes that would deflect
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: it at the line.
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: It's true they think they can just throw through the weeds.
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: Thanks Patty. You know, a lot of people are talking
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: about Jayden Daniels like, you know, oh, he's so skinny,
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: he can avoid being hit. They had a compilation of
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: hits that he took at LSU. Just getting crushed, I mean,
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: like Daniels just getting.
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: Crushed, right, And what's going to happen when he's getting
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: crushed like that by NFL?
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: Right, So he's got he's gonna have to learn, like
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: you can't be hurtling over people and and all that stuff.
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: People are gonna hit you and it's gonna hurt a
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: lot more than it did in college. Christian in North
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: Carolina writes in can we stop talking about scheme fit
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: for the quarterbacks? Was Mahomes a scheme fit for Kansas City?
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: If the guy is the most talented player, you take him.
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: You draft talent, not fit. That is what has gotten
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: us in trouble for the last five plus years. Elliott
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: and Mayo reciprocated this in the press conferences. It's what
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: the Packers did too. Jaden and Caleb is a lot
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: more talented than may or any of the rest of
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: the quarterbacks. Go get one of those guys, and let's
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: not f up this opportunity.
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: See. I don't think that that's accurate. I don't think
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: that those quarterbacks are much different talent wise now, consistency wise,
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: and things like that. Flaws in the game. And I'm
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: gonna read you something here from Kurt Warner. He talked
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: about Jaden Daniels. Jaden Daniels has all the physical ability
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: to run around, and the way he played last year
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: was so good. I just watched the Old Miss game
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: last night and it was some really good stuff from
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: a processing standpoint, So I'm kind of liking what I'm
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: seeing there. Now. This is Drake May not as good.
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: Drake May is interesting because he's big, he's strong, he's
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: got the big arm. But there's a level of inconsistency
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: with him throwing the football, and that is always worried,
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: always worries me. There's some things there that concerned me
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: just from a consistent standpoint, his technique in the pocket,
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: and it's just been about every tape I've watched where
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: he just misses what I call layups throws in front
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: of him, and he just wildly misses those throws at times,
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: you know, four or five, six times a game. That's
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: I think that's valid when I call him Josh Allen.
- 1:20:15Speaker 2: That's that's why I call him Josh Allen. He's very
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: inconsistent with his accuracy at times. That was on Wei,
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: by the way, I guess Kurt Warner was on Gresh
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: and Fourier. Yeah, so I just read that on Twitter.
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: Mike Kadlick, who covers the Patriots for EI, put those
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: quotes up on Twitter. I think that's it's not about
- 1:20:37Speaker 2: an ability thing like I think that you it's the
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: eye of the beholder. You could say Caleb Williams is
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: more talented than the other two I would agree, but
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: I think that you can make a case for May.
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: You can make a case for Daniels different things. Again,
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: none of the other Williams and By don't run like
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: Daniels does. I don't think Daniels throws like May and
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: Williams do. You can make an argument for any of them.
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: I think Williams is the best, but I would I'm just.
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: Afraid we're grading on the curve this year with the quarterbacks.
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: No, I don't think you're grading on a curve these guys.
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: I mean, like when you're great on a curve. It's
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: like two years ago when Kenny Pickett is the only
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: first round pick. Yeah, you know, and he probably because
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: there was nobody else. He got bumped up the first
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: round status, where if he was in this class now
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: he might be a third round pick. Do you know
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: what I mean? Yeah?
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: I mean when when when Mahomes got drafted, no one
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: called him a generational quarterback.
- 1:21:29Speaker 2: No, no, And I'll tell you. I'll tell you why.
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: Because he played in the system where all of his
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: predecessors failed to do anything in the NFL, and that
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: was the knock on him. Everybody. Everybody thought. Everybody thought
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: it was great, and uh, you know, and then but
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: you're like, well, look at all the guys that can
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: you know? I think it was I forget all the
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: guy's names now herel was one of them. I forget
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: the guys the Texas Tech quarterbacks. None of them panned
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: out in the NFL until mahomes.
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: All right, coming to you live from the combine in
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: Indie is Evan Lazarre and Mike do So what's up guys?
- 1:22:11Speaker 2: There they are? Hey, guys, still got that bargain.
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: I've seen a lot of you guys in front of
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: that background over the last two days.
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: What's that?
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: What's that?
- 1:22:25Speaker 23: Paul?
- 1:22:26Speaker 24: A bit of our background now, Yes, the start of
- 1:22:29Speaker 24: the show, we thought it's a lot of people trying
- 1:22:32Speaker 24: to read into what does it mean? Why are we
- 1:22:33Speaker 24: going with this backdrop? Well, we'll just keep that between ourselves.
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: It looks like the sheets that I had when I
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: was like six.
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: Yeah, but that's funny that you say that Mike is
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: at the.
- 1:22:43Speaker 20: Top stanes, at the top of our mind.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: I was six, Mike at the top of our show. Mike,
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: we were talking about how everybody is reading into everything
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: that the patriots are doing these days. Every comment they
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: make every clip that we release on social the Dynasty documentary,
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: everything we do has some hidden meaning these days.
- 1:23:05Speaker 24: I mean, I guess I can. I guess I can
- 1:23:07Speaker 24: put it to bed right here if if you guys want.
- 1:23:09Speaker 24: But the conversation was Neil said, hey, we have like
- 1:23:12Speaker 24: a regular backdrop or maybe a throwback one.
- 1:23:15Speaker 20: And I was like, oh, the throwback one would be
- 1:23:17Speaker 20: kind of cool. And he said okay, and that was it.
- 1:23:20Speaker 24: So and then it's just and then it's hilarious that
- 1:23:23Speaker 24: people are like, oh, what does it mean that they
- 1:23:24Speaker 24: bring it back the uniform?
- 1:23:26Speaker 20: So I think we have a little and you're just
- 1:23:28Speaker 20: playing it seems an interesting color blue, doesn't it.
- 1:23:32Speaker 19: What does that mean? I don't know.
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: All right, guys, so this is day four, no day
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: three for you at the combine. What's the news?
- 1:23:43Speaker 25: Well, I think that there's a lot of reporting and
- 1:23:45Speaker 25: I know you guys are just talking about the quarterbacks
- 1:23:47Speaker 25: that if the Patriots fall in love with one of
- 1:23:50Speaker 25: these guys at three overall that's still on the board,
- 1:23:52Speaker 25: then they'll probably be taking a quarterback in the draft.
- 1:23:55Speaker 6: And that's the way that it's been.
- 1:23:57Speaker 25: The wind's been blowing, I would say for the last
- 1:23:59Speaker 25: couple of weeks, every time we talked to Elliott Wolf,
- 1:24:01Speaker 25: we've talked about this duce. He has a smile on
- 1:24:04Speaker 25: his face when he talks about this quarterback class. He's
- 1:24:06Speaker 25: high on the quarterback class. And if the guy that
- 1:24:08Speaker 25: they like is there at three, I think they take him.
- 1:24:11Speaker 25: And if he's not, then I think they might be
- 1:24:13Speaker 25: a trade back team and someone that you know, just
- 1:24:17Speaker 25: accumulates assets and tries to build it a little bit differently.
- 1:24:20Speaker 25: But looking at all three of these quarterbacks, there doesn't
- 1:24:22Speaker 25: seem to be a general consensus, even at times with
- 1:24:26Speaker 25: Caleb Williams not necessarily being the number one guy. And
- 1:24:29Speaker 25: I think at the end of the day, if there's
- 1:24:31Speaker 25: a quarterback at three that the Patriots like, he'll be
- 1:24:33Speaker 25: a Patriot.
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: Before the show, I was watching that Get It Up
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: show on ESPN with the Greenberg and they were talking
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: about Jayden Daniels perhaps now being the number one pick.
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: Have you heard that stuff too?
- 1:24:53Speaker 20: No, I don't think we have heard that here.
- 1:24:55Speaker 24: I mean, I do think the speculation, you know, is
- 1:24:57Speaker 24: just really centered around Washington, and you know, with Cliff
- 1:25:00Speaker 24: Kingsbury going there is is Jade and Daniels more his
- 1:25:04Speaker 24: kind of quarterback. So I think that that's really when
- 1:25:05Speaker 24: we heard. I that's just the first I've heard that
- 1:25:08Speaker 24: Daniels might be. First of all, we did see, you know,
- 1:25:10Speaker 24: Williams reports last night that not everybody has Williams atop
- 1:25:14Speaker 24: their draft board, and you know, there are some questions,
- 1:25:16Speaker 24: as we've talked about with him, and maybe that's you know,
- 1:25:19Speaker 24: but I also think this is we're here in India
- 1:25:21Speaker 24: and that's when these kind of things get said and
- 1:25:23Speaker 24: talked about and all I don't know, and you know,
- 1:25:25Speaker 24: people are you know, starting to put their pieces into place,
- 1:25:28Speaker 24: trying to get some subterfuge as we like to say.
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean this was all our Latsky's analysis, and
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: he was saying, if you really break it down, Daniels
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: is the best at all the different things you look
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: for in a quarterback, including and he called it pocket
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: piece peace. He said he was more peaceful in the
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: pocket than Caleb Williams. So I don't know where he
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: gets that because they both like to run all over
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: the place. But that's what Olafski's saying.
- 1:25:57Speaker 23: Yeah, one of the things I would like to differently though,
- 1:26:02Speaker 23: go ahead, go ahead, f No, I think they run
- 1:26:06Speaker 23: differently though.
- 1:26:07Speaker 25: You know, Jaden Daniels is more of that pure scrambler
- 1:26:11Speaker 25: or design quarterback runner, whereas Caleb Williams is a true improviser.
- 1:26:14Speaker 25: He's got a little bit of that Mahomes in him
- 1:26:17Speaker 25: where he doesn't necessarily always throw on time, but he
- 1:26:20Speaker 25: moves off his spot extremely well, gets outside the pocket,
- 1:26:23Speaker 25: makes throws off platform. Jade and Daniels I don't think
- 1:26:26Speaker 25: creates in that respect the same way that Drake May
- 1:26:29Speaker 25: and Caleb Williams does. But his straight line speed and
- 1:26:32Speaker 25: his ability to create yards as a runner is much
- 1:26:35Speaker 25: better than those other two guys. So even though they're
- 1:26:37Speaker 25: both mobile, I would say that they're mobile in different ways.
- 1:26:40Speaker 25: And with Jaden Daniels, I think it's really just a
- 1:26:44Speaker 25: matter of how much stock you put into He was
- 1:26:46Speaker 25: throwing to those two great wide receivers, and a lot
- 1:26:49Speaker 25: of his production in college it was down the field,
- 1:26:52Speaker 25: deep balls, down the field on fade routes, especially slot
- 1:26:56Speaker 25: fade routes and things like that. Not as much of
- 1:26:58Speaker 25: that in the middle of the field, consistent ball, you know,
- 1:27:02Speaker 25: driving the football, but more hunting for big plays. So
- 1:27:05Speaker 25: it's a volatile way to live at times in the
- 1:27:07Speaker 25: NFL if that's how you want to build your offense.
- 1:27:09Speaker 6: But he's really good at that.
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: With the draft, there's also the betting market on the
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: first round. And I was listening to one of Paul's
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: shows this morning, Liftshits, and he was talking about, you know, Drake.
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: You know, you can bet on who you think is
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: going to be drafted wherever. There's a market now that's growing,
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: he says, of Drake May falling out of the top five.
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: Have you heard anything about that?
- 1:27:36Speaker 24: No, I mean, this is I mean, some of these
- 1:27:37Speaker 24: are news to us. Some of them we've heard, but
- 1:27:40Speaker 24: advervising him. And we had a chance today. We had
- 1:27:44Speaker 24: a chance today sit down with Matt Miller from ESPN.
- 1:27:46Speaker 24: We talked to him a little bit, you know, just
- 1:27:48Speaker 24: about Drake maybeing I guess some of his works are
- 1:27:51Speaker 24: kind of getting highlighted right now, which I think kind
- 1:27:53Speaker 24: of happens with this process, with the combine. You get
- 1:27:55Speaker 24: to a certain point and then all of a sudden,
- 1:27:56Speaker 24: everybody seems to focus in on the negative aspect of
- 1:28:00Speaker 24: of a player. So you know, it's just it's hard
- 1:28:02Speaker 24: to say how it's all gonna kind of come out
- 1:28:04Speaker 24: in the wash, you know, and get we get to
- 1:28:05Speaker 24: that draft night and two picks go in.
- 1:28:08Speaker 20: Who are the Patriots left with?
- 1:28:09Speaker 24: And I mean, I think right now the signs are
- 1:28:10Speaker 24: pointing that they want one of those quarterbacks and it's
- 1:28:13Speaker 24: you know, most likely going to be Mayor Daniels hopefully.
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: Yeah. And I just look at it is there's too
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: many teams in the top ten that need quarterbacks for
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: me to think that that those three guys are going
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: to make it out of the top five, any of
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: the three, because obviously if you don't go one, two, three,
- 1:28:29Speaker 2: then that's going to have you know, those teams furiously
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: trying to move up. Now, I'll ask you one more thing.
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: I'm not going to ask you guys if you heard,
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: you know, because Fred and I have been talking about
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: some of these things justin fields in Atlanta. You know,
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: is that something that has sort of generated any buzz
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: in Indy. Yeah, I would say so.
- 1:28:50Speaker 25: That one I think makes a lot of sense for
- 1:28:52Speaker 25: the Falcons because of what they would have to give up,
- 1:28:54Speaker 25: I think in this draft to trade all the way
- 1:28:56Speaker 25: up for one of these quarterbacks. The price tag on
- 1:28:59Speaker 25: those three picks, if you're a team like Atlanta, that
- 1:29:02Speaker 25: wants to move all the way up, or you know,
- 1:29:04Speaker 25: a team like Minnesota that's been rumored to move all
- 1:29:06Speaker 25: the way up has been tall like three first round picks,
- 1:29:10Speaker 25: I think is the starting point for that. Obviously, swapping
- 1:29:13Speaker 25: picks this year and then two additional picks in the future,
- 1:29:16Speaker 25: similar to what the forty nine ers gave up to
- 1:29:18Speaker 25: go up and get Trey Lance a couple of years ago.
- 1:29:21Speaker 25: Is sort of the the blueprint trade right now, the
- 1:29:24Speaker 25: package that everybody's talking about, which is which is obviously
- 1:29:27Speaker 25: a pretty hefty price and maybe something that the Falcons
- 1:29:30Speaker 25: would wouldn't want to do and instead go with the
- 1:29:32Speaker 25: Justin Fields route. So that that's definitely been the scuttle
- 1:29:35Speaker 25: butt around here for sure on the Falcons.
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: So other than talking in front of Paul's old bed sheet,
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: what what are you guys gonna be? Who you gonna
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: be talking to today?
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: Well, we already are done.
- 1:29:50Speaker 24: Actually, we heard from the tight ends, the safeties and
- 1:29:52Speaker 24: the cornerbacks, you know, an interesting tight end class we did.
- 1:29:55Speaker 20: We shot a debrief.
- 1:29:56Speaker 24: We also did a you know, an extended kind of version, which,
- 1:29:59Speaker 24: by the way, as we were recording the debrief, the
- 1:30:02Speaker 24: Saint Elmo's crew came in with those little shrimps, and
- 1:30:05Speaker 24: so me and Evan both ate the shrimp cocktail live
- 1:30:08Speaker 24: on camera and they just they barged right into our
- 1:30:11Speaker 24: debrief session. So that video will be coming to you
- 1:30:13Speaker 24: guys sometime in the next hour or two, so you
- 1:30:15Speaker 24: have something to look forward to there. But we did
- 1:30:17Speaker 24: hear from the cornerback, safeties and tight ends. We were,
- 1:30:19Speaker 24: you know, kind of interested in the tight ends. Have
- 1:30:20Speaker 24: all maybe jump into some of those guys. There are
- 1:30:23Speaker 24: a lot of cornerbacks. You know, we kind of laid
- 1:30:26Speaker 24: out we all know, you know what those needs are.
- 1:30:28Speaker 24: But but certainly tight end was was a highlight position.
- 1:30:30Speaker 25: Yeah, I think tight end it's not as deep this
- 1:30:32Speaker 25: year as good of a class this year as it
- 1:30:34Speaker 25: was last year.
- 1:30:35Speaker 6: Last year is a really good class. But there's a
- 1:30:37Speaker 6: couple of guys at the top of the draft.
- 1:30:39Speaker 25: And you know, we can obviously talk about brock Bauers,
- 1:30:41Speaker 25: who's one of those players that's going to probably go
- 1:30:43Speaker 25: in the top ten. But I've really liked Jatavian Sanders
- 1:30:46Speaker 25: from Texas for a while now. Thank he's someone that
- 1:30:48Speaker 25: you can get at thirty four potentially that can be
- 1:30:51Speaker 25: at vertical tight end who create big plays at the
- 1:30:53Speaker 25: ball in his hands, just a chunk play guy at
- 1:30:56Speaker 25: that position, similar to David and Joku.
- 1:30:59Speaker 6: In Cleveland in the VP offense.
- 1:31:00Speaker 25: And we both like Ben Sinnett from Kansas State, Theo
- 1:31:03Speaker 25: Johnson from Penn State, to another one Kate Stover, Ohio State.
- 1:31:06Speaker 6: But really I think this is a two tight end class.
- 1:31:09Speaker 25: It's it's Bowers and then it's a little bit later
- 1:31:12Speaker 25: Jatavian Sanders and I say a little bit later, not
- 1:31:14Speaker 25: that much later. So once you hit the after those
- 1:31:17Speaker 25: two guys are talking more about role players, situational type
- 1:31:21Speaker 25: of players, or guys that are more like tight end
- 1:31:23Speaker 25: two's backups on the depth chart.
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: I heard that Bower says he has not talked to
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: the Patriots yet.
- 1:31:33Speaker 24: Oh man, we're just having a blast with with you know,
- 1:31:36Speaker 24: people yelling out have you met with the Steelers? Have
- 1:31:38Speaker 24: you met you know, every every single one you go to,
- 1:31:40Speaker 24: there's just one guy yelling over and over again. You know,
- 1:31:43Speaker 24: we see all the reports coming out of all the
- 1:31:44Speaker 24: guys that that the Patriots have met with, and you know,
- 1:31:46Speaker 24: Evan and I were talking, it's like, well, they should
- 1:31:48Speaker 24: be meeting with all these guys like it shouldn't right
- 1:31:50Speaker 24: all that surprising.
- 1:31:51Speaker 20: But but but but hey, PAULI I got a I
- 1:31:54Speaker 20: got a little shout out to you about you was.
- 1:31:56Speaker 24: I went over the I'm blanking on his name right
- 1:31:59Speaker 24: now the radio anoun for the Texans who Mark VanderMeer
- 1:32:02Speaker 24: and Matt Smith seemed to know.
- 1:32:04Speaker 2: Yeah, there he is, so he was.
- 1:32:06Speaker 24: They asked one of us to go over, So I
- 1:32:08Speaker 24: went over and chatted with them for a little while.
- 1:32:10Speaker 24: So they were asking like, oh, how's Paul Pirillo and
- 1:32:12Speaker 24: Andy Hart doing? And yeah, he remembered he wanted to
- 1:32:14Speaker 24: He wanted to talk to you, Pauly, you want.
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: Us so facts speaking of Saint Elmos, have you been.
- 1:32:24Speaker 24: Yeah, we went the first night, and uh, I think
- 1:32:26Speaker 24: everybody was expecting to go back, uh again, just to
- 1:32:29Speaker 24: get a shrimp cocktail. I think Matisa and Evan were
- 1:32:31Speaker 24: ready to go back, and then all of a sudden,
- 1:32:32Speaker 24: we're shooting our debrief and and here they come, like
- 1:32:35Speaker 24: right into the shot.
- 1:32:35Speaker 20: So it's uh, it was pretty funny. I mean, it
- 1:32:37Speaker 20: was really spicy when I started watering. Never quite had
- 1:32:39Speaker 20: to like record.
- 1:32:40Speaker 24: A video where you're managing like eating something and it's spicy.
- 1:32:43Speaker 24: So it felt a little bit like we're on hot
- 1:32:45Speaker 24: ones there for a second.
- 1:32:46Speaker 2: Cool, what's the plan tonight? Uh?
- 1:32:52Speaker 6: Might we might be Prime forty seven tonight. We might
- 1:32:55Speaker 6: be Prime forty seven tonight. We'll see.
- 1:32:57Speaker 20: Granted, we just take the size and head.
- 1:33:00Speaker 25: So so I checked off the Saint Almo's box, We
- 1:33:04Speaker 25: checked off the Shapiro's box.
- 1:33:05Speaker 6: Now we got to check off the Prime forty seven box.
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: The more meat.
- 1:33:09Speaker 20: Let's go.
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: How much per DM did we give you? Guys?
- 1:33:12Speaker 24: Geez, it's two thousand dollars? Two thousand was I think
- 1:33:16Speaker 24: the number? And yeah, we're spending.
- 1:33:18Speaker 6: Every every day game that number to ourselves.
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: Yeah, so so no expenses, it was all per deem.
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: Oh yeah, but there was a change.
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: If you don't need breakfast and lunch, then you can
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: splurge on dinner.
- 1:33:26Speaker 2: What about webergrill? There you go, we got made it
- 1:33:31Speaker 2: over there.
- 1:33:32Speaker 25: We've been talking about getting to the Webergrill all week,
- 1:33:35Speaker 25: So we'll get to the webergrill.
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: Don't you worry. Don't you worry? All right, guys, keep.
- 1:33:40Speaker 24: Up at a big I was just good, yeah, and
- 1:33:44Speaker 24: I was just gonna to close out, just say, you know, quarterbacks,
- 1:33:47Speaker 24: wide receivers, running backs tomorrow, Big day, offensive lineman then
- 1:33:50Speaker 24: on on Saturday mornings. So you know, it feels a
- 1:33:53Speaker 24: little bit like this is all kind of the prelude
- 1:33:55Speaker 24: to what we all kind of really want, and those
- 1:33:57Speaker 24: are those important positions the Patriots you know, clearly need.
- 1:34:00Speaker 24: So we'll get a look at all those guys tomorrow,
- 1:34:02Speaker 24: and uh, I think we're excited excited to kind of
- 1:34:04Speaker 24: get off the defense. Even I'm excited to get off
- 1:34:06Speaker 24: the defense a little bit, so excited to see the
- 1:34:08Speaker 24: quarterbacks and receivers tomorrow for sure.
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: All right, good stuff, thanks guys, keep up the good work.
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: All right, boys, You can catch everything they're doing on
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: Patriots dot com and also YouTube the Patriots channel on
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: YouTube for the extended daily breakdowns.
- 1:34:22Speaker 2: They managed to make me feel good. Yeah, it makes
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: me feel good that the guy from Houston was asking
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: fork vandom beer. He's big time van vandom mer.
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: And the other thing that they launched yesterday was the
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: first Patriots Draft podcast. Did you know that? Paul?
- 1:34:40Speaker 2: I don't know what that is? Yeah, you know?
- 1:34:44Speaker 20: Oh you still you'll be You're involved in it, Paul,
- 1:34:46Speaker 20: you know what it is?
- 1:34:48Speaker 24: Okay, No, we're you know, we just kind of kick
- 1:34:50Speaker 24: things off here, but you know, just I guess for
- 1:34:51Speaker 24: the unfiltered audience, you know, as we get towards free.
- 1:34:56Speaker 2: Not aware. I didn't know you guys did anything. I'm
- 1:34:59Speaker 2: not you know, once.
- 1:35:03Speaker 24: Well, we'll have a once weekly show, you know, really
- 1:35:06Speaker 24: just explicitly focused on the draft.
- 1:35:07Speaker 20: And so we kind of kicked that off here.
- 1:35:09Speaker 24: So you know, we're excited to just bring another, you know,
- 1:35:11Speaker 24: piece of content that we can really focus on this
- 1:35:13Speaker 24: important draft for the fans.
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: All right, guys, back to work. Thanks for joining us.
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: I love macOS. Oh so we got evidentduce and you're.
- 1:35:22Speaker 2: Like just grands the show to a holt. I'm such
- 1:35:29Speaker 2: a u I have another yeah, another point the whole
- 1:35:37Speaker 2: Uh someone I think it was rap Sheet said that
- 1:35:43Speaker 2: Caleb Williams is not the consensus number one overall pick
- 1:35:45Speaker 2: on everyone's board. Okay, well, I mean in all seriousness,
- 1:35:50Speaker 2: and I'm not trying to be snarky here, I know
- 1:35:52Speaker 2: that's hard to believe. How many times do you think
- 1:35:55Speaker 2: there's only one guy? All thirty two teams have one
- 1:35:57Speaker 2: guy on the top of the board.
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: No, but I think it is kind of a story
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: because I'm.
- 1:36:02Speaker 2: Not surprised myself. Oh he was, I don't think so. Oh, yes,
- 1:36:05Speaker 2: I don't think so. God Yes. So then you're you're
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: so you're agreeing with me. Then that the fact that
- 1:36:11Speaker 2: he cried yes has affected his drafts. Yes, I don't
- 1:36:15Speaker 2: think that Peyton Manning was number one on all thirty
- 1:36:18Speaker 2: two teams boards.
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: I'm not talking about But.
- 1:36:20Speaker 2: I'm just saying, I don't think that happens a lot.
- 1:36:22Speaker 2: It doesn't happen only and I don't think it happened
- 1:36:24Speaker 2: this year. Everybody has a different view of what the
- 1:36:27Speaker 2: best quarter about.
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: Two months ago, Caleb Williams was the consensus number one pick.
- 1:36:33Speaker 2: Is the consensus number one pick. That's not what I'm
- 1:36:35Speaker 2: asking you. He still is the consensus number one pick.
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: But no one was saying, oh, it could be Jade
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: and Daniels, it could be Drake.
- 1:36:42Speaker 2: I'm telling you, no, no one's saying that. Now they're
- 1:36:46Speaker 2: saying that he's not number one on everybody's board.
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm saying two months ago he was.
- 1:36:52Speaker 2: You're not saying that we didn't hear him about everybody's
- 1:36:54Speaker 2: board last two months ago. I'm not saying he's the
- 1:36:57Speaker 2: consensus number one pick. Somebody consensus means twenty eight out
- 1:37:02Speaker 2: of thirty two.
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: Okay, no, that's true.
- 1:37:04Speaker 2: But somebody is reporting now that not all thirty two
- 1:37:06Speaker 2: teams have him number one on the board. I would
- 1:37:08Speaker 2: be willing to bet that that's almost never happened, where
- 1:37:12Speaker 2: all thirty two teams have the same guy number one
- 1:37:15Speaker 2: on the other.
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: Okay, that's fine, But I'm just saying in this case,
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: two months ago, everybody I heard said Caleb Williams is
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: going to be the first pick.
- 1:37:22Speaker 2: Yes, and that's what everybody is saying now. No.
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: I heard Dan Arloski say right today, Jayden Daniels is correct.
- 1:37:28Speaker 2: Consensus doesn't mean one hundred percent. Okay, but I heard
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: no one. Everybody still thinks Caleb Williams is going number
- 1:37:35Speaker 2: one most people, right.
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:37:39Speaker 2: The report that came out that's new is that not
- 1:37:41Speaker 2: all the teams have him number one on the aboard. Yeah.
- 1:37:45Speaker 2: I would agree with that. I don't think all the
- 1:37:47Speaker 2: teams had Bryce Young number one on the board. Last year.
- 1:37:49Speaker 2: We know that, wow, because he's not that good, but
- 1:37:53Speaker 2: he was coming out. He was the Heisman Trophy winner
- 1:37:55Speaker 2: and he was a stud. So what the year before,
- 1:37:59Speaker 2: two years before that. I'll bet you that not everybody
- 1:38:02Speaker 2: had Trevor Lawrence number one on their board. Yes they did,
- 1:38:06Speaker 2: I'll bet you they didn't. They had number one quarterback,
- 1:38:09Speaker 2: But I'll bet you they didn't all have number one
- 1:38:10Speaker 2: on their board. And I'd be stunned if every team
- 1:38:14Speaker 2: had Caleb Williams number one on their board. Yeah, but
- 1:38:17Speaker 2: now I think they were good play. Marvin Harrison is
- 1:38:20Speaker 2: probably number one on a lot of people's boards. Yeah,
- 1:38:23Speaker 2: but a lot of teams board. I don't think that's Newsworth.
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: Are you factoring in people who don't need a quarterback?
- 1:38:29Speaker 2: No, you're missing my point. When you stack your board, Fred,
- 1:38:32Speaker 2: you're doing it by talent.
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: I want to make sure that we're talking the same.
- 1:38:35Speaker 2: When you stack your board, you're doing it by talent,
- 1:38:38Speaker 2: not who you're going to pick right. No, I just
- 1:38:40Speaker 2: want to make sure. I would be willing to bet
- 1:38:42Speaker 2: that it's almost never happened where every single team had
- 1:38:45Speaker 2: the same exact guy number one on their board. I
- 1:38:49Speaker 2: find that awfully hard to believe. Yeah, I do. I
- 1:38:53Speaker 2: find it almost impossible to believe that every year all
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: thirty two teams are lockstep. Marvin Harris is the best
- 1:39:00Speaker 2: player in this draft.
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: You might be I'm just talking. I'm talking about people
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: who are analyzing the draft. Everybody was saying Caleb Williams
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: is going to be the number one pick.
- 1:39:11Speaker 2: Again, you can keep saying that, that's not what I'm
- 1:39:13Speaker 2: talking about.
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: Okay, we're talking about something different.
- 1:39:16Speaker 2: We're talking about number one on our board.
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, I'm talking about like I will.
- 1:39:22Speaker 2: Bet you that virtually none of the teams had the
- 1:39:27Speaker 2: number one pick on the board most years because it's
- 1:39:30Speaker 2: almost always a quarterback, right right, right, that's my point. Okay,
- 1:39:35Speaker 2: so it's not newsworthy to me that not all the
- 1:39:37Speaker 2: teams have Caleb Williams number one on their board. That's
- 1:39:41Speaker 2: what I'm trying to say. Okay, in November, not all
- 1:39:43Speaker 2: the teams had Caleb Williams number one on the board.
- 1:39:45Speaker 2: I'll guarantee it.
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: Yeah, because they didn't need a quarterback.
- 1:39:49Speaker 2: No, why you keep saying this, because if it's not
- 1:39:52Speaker 2: about who you think is going to pack, I know,
- 1:39:55Speaker 2: but if they needed a quarterback, Number one on my
- 1:39:57Speaker 2: board isn't who I'm gonna pick. It's the it's my evaluation,
- 1:40:01Speaker 2: Elliott Wolf's evaluation of who the best player.
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: That person was talking about.
- 1:40:05Speaker 2: No, that's not what they're talking about. That's two different things.
- 1:40:09Speaker 2: And I still think the consensus is that.
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: He will be the number one pick, And I will
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: agree with you. If that's not what he was talking about,
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: it's not news.
- 1:40:17Speaker 2: Well the report, you know what, I don't even know
- 1:40:20Speaker 2: who had the report. Yeah, but the report that I
- 1:40:22Speaker 2: heard referenced on the radio when I was driving home yesterday,
- 1:40:25Speaker 2: said that not everybody's in agreement that he's the number
- 1:40:28Speaker 2: one player on the board, not all teams. But that's
- 1:40:31Speaker 2: not about who I'm gonna pick.
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: No, But that could be interpreted a lot of different ways.
- 1:40:34Speaker 2: Well, I'm telling you that's not about who you're gonna
- 1:40:36Speaker 2: pick it because you're in the.
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: Way you're talking about it.
- 1:40:40Speaker 2: You're right.
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: But I don't know if that's the way they were
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: talking about because in the way you're talking about it,
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: I agree, it's not news. So why would they say that?
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: So I think they meant something else.
- 1:40:49Speaker 2: No, I don't think they did. I think they think
- 1:40:51Speaker 2: it's noteworthy. Well, then they're much like people think it's
- 1:40:54Speaker 2: noteworthy that the Patriots are going to be strongly considering
- 1:40:57Speaker 2: a quarterback. They don't have a quarterback three guys that
- 1:41:00Speaker 2: are gonna go you know, all considered to go one
- 1:41:02Speaker 2: two thread like it's not news. I know, but you
- 1:41:05Speaker 2: present it as news.
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:41:06Speaker 2: I know that's all. But I could get wound up.
- 1:41:09Speaker 2: I knew I could do.
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: That's why we're I know I could do it. But
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: my thing is, and forget about what you just said.
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: Going back to I do think that there's starting and
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: and again this could be just trying to create a story,
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: trying to create drama. But to me, two months ago,
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: everyone thought Caleb will was going to be chosen first.
- 1:41:29Speaker 2: Whether it's and I think that the consensus is still that.
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: That's my opinion. Maybe your changed now.
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: Most people do. Maybe hear anyone two months ago saying
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: it may not be him, now I am hearing that.
- 1:41:41Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll see anyway. I'll give you an example to
- 1:41:46Speaker 2: try to explain to you the difference, which I don't
- 1:41:48Speaker 2: still don't think, you know, my I understand what you're saying,
- 1:41:51Speaker 2: Like if looking at the best athlete, if Andy Reid
- 1:41:54Speaker 2: could be Marvin Harrison is, if Andy Reid and Brett
- 1:41:56Speaker 2: Veach think Caleb Williams is the best player in this draft,
- 1:42:00Speaker 2: yeah they have him number one on their board. They
- 1:42:03Speaker 2: ain't taking them, that's right, But they have him number
- 1:42:06Speaker 2: one on the board. Okay, I don't think it's very common.
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: You stack it vertically and horrible.
- 1:42:12Speaker 2: Correct, That's what I'm trying to get to you. I
- 1:42:15Speaker 2: don't think all thirty two teams ever have the same
- 1:42:17Speaker 2: guy number one.
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: On the You're not wrong, but I don't think that's
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: what they meant.
- 1:42:21Speaker 2: That is what they meant when I when I heard yesterday,
- 1:42:23Speaker 2: that's what the that's exactly what they said. Not all
- 1:42:26Speaker 2: of them have him number one on their board. Not
- 1:42:29Speaker 2: not all of them have him going number one overall.
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: I don't think they meant that.
- 1:42:32Speaker 2: When you say someone's number one on your board, it's
- 1:42:35Speaker 2: that's your opinion. Who the best player, talent wise is
- 1:42:38Speaker 2: in the draft.
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: Well, I don't think whoever was saying this is that's sophisticated.
- 1:42:42Speaker 2: I think it's not sophisticated. This is my point.
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: But yeah, well, I it's not a story. It's not
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: a story what they were saying.
- 1:42:49Speaker 2: I agree with that, you know, I agree, it's not
- 1:42:51Speaker 2: a story.
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: So I think they worded it wrong. But we'll see.
- 1:42:56Speaker 2: You can only go by what he said.
- 1:42:58Speaker 3: I know, I know.
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: Let's see, that's a good one, I should.
- 1:43:04Speaker 2: Say, or she because I don't remember where where the
- 1:43:07Speaker 2: report originally.
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: Sure this wasn't one of your straw people.
- 1:43:11Speaker 2: No, no, not at all. I might have you know,
- 1:43:15Speaker 2: bump Head, Virginia.
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: Different topic, he says, I was wondering when the tickets
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: will be on sale for Tom Brady Hall of Fame
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: ceremony in June.
- 1:43:24Speaker 2: That's a good question. I'm starting.
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: But my birthday is June twelfth, so I'm planning to
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: drive up for Virginia for it. Just don't want to
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: miss the opportunity to buy tickets.
- 1:43:32Speaker 2: Keep it under seventy.
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: Yeah, So I think what they're going to do is
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: open up the tickets to season ticket holders first, which
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: they should, and then whatever is left over, they'll open
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: it up to the public. Okay, yeah, but I'm pretty
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: sure it's not going to be an expensive ticket either way.
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: So we'll see what happens with that.
- 1:43:53Speaker 2: But it's going to be Fred's definition of non expensive
- 1:43:55Speaker 2: and the rest of us is probably different.
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: It's going to be a big to do, big to
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: do Ellen, Wisconsin. So, given everything we've seen so far
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: of the new regime, how much faith do you have
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: with the new people to start a string of success
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: with this draft. Given our draft struggles, it might be
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: tough now that we don't have a very very good
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: drafter at the top.
- 1:44:16Speaker 2: Yeah, that's funny that they put it that way. I
- 1:44:21Speaker 2: got a little bit persnicketty in the e mail bag
- 1:44:25Speaker 2: on one of those yeah, you know, talking about all
- 1:44:27Speaker 2: the draft missus and this, and and I was like,
- 1:44:31Speaker 2: you know what, And I did it, And I was
- 1:44:35Speaker 2: like I wrote a sentence that was about three lines
- 1:44:38Speaker 2: long and all it was was names. Yeah, you know,
- 1:44:40Speaker 2: it is Richard Seymour, Matt like like Dan Copen, It'sante, Samuel,
- 1:44:43Speaker 2: Eugene Wilson, you know, on and on and on and
- 1:44:46Speaker 2: all the way through like Dante high Tower, Chandler Jones,
- 1:44:50Speaker 2: Devin mccordy, Rob Gronkowski. Yeah, And I'm like, yeah, I
- 1:44:54Speaker 2: get it. They went through a dry spell the last
- 1:44:58Speaker 2: whatever five ten years. Yeah, but the first fifteen years, Yeah,
- 1:45:03Speaker 2: we're dominant. Yeah, now I get why. That's why they're
- 1:45:07Speaker 2: in the situation they are now. But let's not pretend
- 1:45:09Speaker 2: that that regime didn't know what it was doing. No,
- 1:45:11Speaker 2: when it came to the draft, you can't win like
- 1:45:13Speaker 2: they did and be that clueless. And that's the line
- 1:45:17Speaker 2: that always gets thrown back at me, me calling Bill
- 1:45:19Speaker 2: a very very good drafter Todd's and North Carolina, what's
- 1:45:23Speaker 2: he's not anymore good?
- 1:45:25Speaker 17: Evening you do.
- 1:45:26Speaker 10: I'm glad that you're doing a great show. I'm happy
- 1:45:29Speaker 10: to hear that Evantin is a little bit more relaxed
- 1:45:31Speaker 10: with the whole coaching staff. You know, he's starting to
- 1:45:33Speaker 10: use a VP and for offense. And this my question is,
- 1:45:36Speaker 10: I was listening to ESPN this morning and they said
- 1:45:39Speaker 10: there hasn't been identified pre draft like Mahomes's after draft
- 1:45:43Speaker 10: a generational talent at quarterbacks Andrew Luck.
- 1:45:47Speaker 4: So maybe I agree with the idea of.
- 1:45:49Speaker 10: What they're doing doing in San Francisco is the right idea.
- 1:45:52Speaker 10: Build the team first and then just keep grinding until
- 1:45:56Speaker 10: you find your guy because if you if they're just
- 1:45:58Speaker 10: there's nothing there that you.
- 1:46:00Speaker 2: Can really so how do you find your guys?
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: Yeah, but maybe maybe there wasn't anyone free draft like that,
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: but Joe Burrow.
- 1:46:08Speaker 2: Right, there's been a lot of guys that have been great.
- 1:46:10Speaker 2: But I just I'm just out of curiosity. If you
- 1:46:13Speaker 2: build a great team, then you get the quarterback. Okay,
- 1:46:15Speaker 2: So so then how am I doing that? What am I?
- 1:46:18Speaker 2: How am I getting the quarterback?
- 1:46:20Speaker 10: You know, you're trying to pick somebody up to you know,
- 1:46:23Speaker 10: trades or something like that. That's the only way I
- 1:46:26Speaker 10: can see doing it.
- 1:46:27Speaker 2: So you're going to trade for a good quarterback, I
- 1:46:32Speaker 2: don't know.
- 1:46:32Speaker 10: Take a look at what they do with Brady. Take
- 1:46:34Speaker 10: a look what hopefully they're going to do with the
- 1:46:36Speaker 10: Jets they're hoping to do with that. I think you've
- 1:46:37Speaker 10: got to kind of you got to kind of open
- 1:46:39Speaker 10: yourself up to maybe another route, just not one avenue.
- 1:46:42Speaker 10: I'm not saying ignore the draft, but I'm saying build
- 1:46:45Speaker 10: your team and.
- 1:46:47Speaker 2: You know, okay, so let's build a team in the
- 1:46:50Speaker 2: top three. I mean, I mean, I don't know why
- 1:46:53Speaker 2: people think it's it's easier to build the team.
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: Well, that's the way San Francisco did it. They they
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: they ransom their future for Trey Lance. That's how they
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: thought they were going to do it too, and it
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: didn't work out and they got.
- 1:47:10Speaker 2: Lucky with Rock Perky Will just get it's not like
- 1:47:12Speaker 2: that that was their roadmap.
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: Oh, We're going to build a team and then get
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: the quarterback. They they were willing to give up two
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: first round picks to get Trey Lance. It didn't work.
- 1:47:20Speaker 2: And all I'm saying is that you can you can
- 1:47:23Speaker 2: do with Sam Vina's right, you could do what San
- 1:47:25Speaker 2: Francisco did, and and you can, like, I mean, you
- 1:47:29Speaker 2: can get an all pro caliber player on ten different
- 1:47:32Speaker 2: draft picks, because that's what San Francisco did. Yeah, Like
- 1:47:36Speaker 2: they literally hit on like a dozen picks, half of
- 1:47:40Speaker 2: which are like all pro caliber yep, and then hope
- 1:47:44Speaker 2: that the last pick of the draft turns out to
- 1:47:46Speaker 2: be a quarterback. Right, I mean that's does that sound
- 1:47:48Speaker 2: like a great plan?
- 1:47:49Speaker 9: No?
- 1:47:51Speaker 2: No, Like even they know hard that you know hard
- 1:47:54Speaker 2: what John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan is to do.
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: Right, even they said, if you see the quarterback you
- 1:47:59Speaker 1: love of.
- 1:48:00Speaker 2: Go get him, like Philadelphia to a lesser extent is
- 1:48:03Speaker 2: similar to San Francisco. But I'm talking about the team.
- 1:48:07Speaker 2: Forget the quarterback for a second. Do you know how
- 1:48:10Speaker 2: hard it is to build a team as good as
- 1:48:12Speaker 2: San Francisco?
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: You have to be very, very lucky.
- 1:48:15Speaker 2: Do you know how hard that is to have two
- 1:48:17Speaker 2: linebackers that you took on Day two and three that
- 1:48:20Speaker 2: are all pro caliber, Like they make plays all over
- 1:48:23Speaker 2: the place, like they weren't top five picks Fred Warner
- 1:48:27Speaker 2: and Dre Greenlaw right, like you know Deebo Samuel day
- 1:48:31Speaker 2: two pick, George Kittle day three pick. But you know
- 1:48:34Speaker 2: how hard that is. These are all pros. These are
- 1:48:38Speaker 2: the best of the best in the league. And you
- 1:48:39Speaker 2: got them in draft after draft after draft. That's really hard.
- 1:48:43Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:48:45Speaker 2: Forgetting about if you end up at the end of
- 1:48:47Speaker 2: that and you did get lucky.
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: Oh, he's had enough of us.
- 1:48:52Speaker 2: Yeah, because some people just don't want to hear the
- 1:48:54Speaker 2: other side of the San Francisco thing. I have immense
- 1:48:57Speaker 2: respect for how San Francisco put it together because it's
- 1:49:00Speaker 2: way harder than making a trade for Patrick Mahomes.
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: Yeah, and plus you know they did it so quickly
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: in terms of like getting lucky in the draft, but
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: like in order to build a team like that, not
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: only does it take time, but over that time, contracts
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: come up.
- 1:49:17Speaker 2: I'm not even calling it luck.
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: It's so hard to do.
- 1:49:19Speaker 2: I'm not even calling it luck in the draft. Yeah,
- 1:49:21Speaker 2: I'm giving them credit for it. Yeah, Okay, it's really
- 1:49:26Speaker 2: hard to be that good. Yeah, Like Joey Bosa is
- 1:49:30Speaker 2: a top five pick, right, right? How many other of
- 1:49:35Speaker 2: those guys you know? Brandon Ayuk was a bottom of
- 1:49:37Speaker 2: the first round I think, right, and Deebo was a
- 1:49:41Speaker 2: second round pick. Kittle I think was a fourth round
- 1:49:44Speaker 2: pick or a fifth round pick. The green law and
- 1:49:47Speaker 2: I already mentioned that you can do it that way.
- 1:49:52Speaker 2: I have a lot of respect for doing it that way.
- 1:49:55Speaker 2: I just think that people think that's easier than hitting
- 1:49:59Speaker 2: on one pick. And like, I think, if can we
- 1:50:03Speaker 2: agree that one of these three guys is probably going
- 1:50:05Speaker 2: to be pretty good? Would you think that the chances
- 1:50:08Speaker 2: are that Williams, may or Daniels one of them is
- 1:50:10Speaker 2: probably going to pan out? It could be like last
- 1:50:12Speaker 2: year it was Young Stroud and Richardson. Richardson got hurt,
- 1:50:17Speaker 2: so I'm going to take him out for a second.
- 1:50:19Speaker 2: Stroud was good, Young wasn't right. Isn't that most likely
- 1:50:23Speaker 2: kind of what happens generally.
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: But I think the thing that I'm trying to get
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: at is if if they didn't get lucky with Brock Purdy,
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: if he couldn't do what he did, they'd be also
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: about how they screwed up Trey Lance.
- 1:50:36Speaker 2: They'd be and also ran if they didn't have Rock
- 1:50:39Speaker 2: Purdy be as good as he is.
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: Right now, A lot of people say, well, any quarter
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: any competent quarterback.
- 1:50:43Speaker 2: Would have been good in that system. I disagree. I
- 1:50:45Speaker 2: think he did a lot of things because I don't
- 1:50:47Speaker 2: think that the garoppolo was pretty good and Purdy's been
- 1:50:51Speaker 2: pretty good. When like C. J. Bethar played, it wasn't
- 1:50:54Speaker 2: pretty good. When Nick Mullens played, it wasn't pretty good.
- 1:50:58Speaker 2: And certainly when Trey Lance played, it wasn't pretty good.
- 1:51:01Speaker 2: So I don't think just anybody could get plugged in
- 1:51:03Speaker 2: and do all right.
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: If Rock Purty wasn't Brock Purdy, we'd be talking about
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: how they screwed up.
- 1:51:08Speaker 2: You can make an argument when you're that talented, you
- 1:51:10Speaker 2: don't need Patrick Mahomes. I would agree, because Brock Purty
- 1:51:13Speaker 2: ain't Patrick Mahomes, but he's also not C. J. Bethard.
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: So things fell in place for them and through their
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: own hard work right, And.
- 1:51:24Speaker 2: I think Philadelphia is similar. I think they built a
- 1:51:26Speaker 2: really good team and then put the quarterback in place
- 1:51:30Speaker 2: because they didn't have the quarterback. I just I don't
- 1:51:33Speaker 2: know why people dismiss how difficult that is.
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: And you look at that year that Jalen Hurts got picked,
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: that was a good quarterback class. There were a lot
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: of quarterbacks picked that year that all did pretty good.
- 1:51:45Speaker 2: That was the great quarterback class. If I'm not mistaken.
- 1:51:47Speaker 2: That's the Borough class, right, Burrow, Tua Herbert and him
- 1:51:53Speaker 2: in the second and Hurts in the second round.
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: Right right, So that's not going to fall in.
- 1:51:59Speaker 2: But what do you think is easier if you want
- 1:52:01Speaker 2: to be you know, you want to go from being
- 1:52:04Speaker 2: a struggling rebuilding team to a playoff contender, what do
- 1:52:08Speaker 2: you think is easier hitting on like ten draft picks
- 1:52:11Speaker 2: over three years or hitting once on c J. Stroud.
- 1:52:15Speaker 2: That's what Houston did.
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: That's the way. That's the quickest path in the most.
- 1:52:21Speaker 2: You know, because I don't care what you tell me
- 1:52:23Speaker 2: about Nicocollins and Tank Dell and you know the Devin
- 1:52:30Speaker 2: singletary jag journeyman running back.
- 1:52:33Speaker 14: C J.
- 1:52:34Speaker 2: Stroud made the difference and that's why c J. Stroud
- 1:52:37Speaker 2: is the one who brought them. Now they have some
- 1:52:39Speaker 2: other good drafts, like last year they drafted Tank Dell
- 1:52:41Speaker 2: and Willie Anderson last year good. They had a good
- 1:52:43Speaker 2: draft last year. In addition to Stroud and that's what
- 1:52:46Speaker 2: we need to do, but without Stroud. But that team
- 1:52:50Speaker 2: didn't go to the playoffs.
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: That's why we're lucky to have Ben McAdoo.
- 1:52:53Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I mean your lips to God's ear spread,
- 1:52:57Speaker 2: John Hewing. You Ben McAdoo, South Beach, What's what up?
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: What's up?
- 1:53:02Speaker 2: John, Johnny Southbeach.
- 1:53:05Speaker 9: How's it going on? I'm back. I took a brief hiatus,
- 1:53:10Speaker 9: but I am back calling.
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: It okay great.
- 1:53:15Speaker 9: Yeah, So I've been watching some of the Dynasty, and
- 1:53:17Speaker 9: I know you guys have addressed a bunch of stuff
- 1:53:19Speaker 9: on the Dynasty podcast. Two thumbs up.
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: Love it.
- 1:53:23Speaker 9: From my perspective. And maybe this is just some like
- 1:53:25Speaker 9: Homer bs, but I look at the cheap, burgeoning Dynasty
- 1:53:30Speaker 9: and you know, say they do exactly what we did
- 1:53:33Speaker 9: over the course of nineteen years. I feel like a
- 1:53:35Speaker 9: lot of dramatic stuff is going to need to happen
- 1:53:38Speaker 9: with that team to make them like as interesting as
- 1:53:43Speaker 9: the papers were during their time. Because right now, it's like,
- 1:53:46Speaker 9: nice guy quarterback has an annoying family and a weird dad.
- 1:53:50Speaker 9: Like Okay, Andy Reid, he's got an interesting story too,
- 1:53:54Speaker 9: But I think Bill Belichick's is like much more compelling,
- 1:53:58Speaker 9: and I don't I'm open the possibility that thing, you know,
- 1:54:01Speaker 9: will become bored dramatic with that team over time. I
- 1:54:05Speaker 9: just want to know what you guys think about that,
- 1:54:06Speaker 9: because veterans.
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: Five or six, yeah, five or six years into the
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: Patriots dynasty, you would say the same thing, like, there
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: wasn't enough the drama came in trying to keep it
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: together for twenty years. And I guarantee you if the
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: Kansas City Chiefs was lucky enough to keep it together
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: for that long, they'll be drama. There'll be things that
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: happened because a lot of human beings will come through
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: that system and they're all different.
- 1:54:32Speaker 2: So what were the things that were drama at the
- 1:54:34Speaker 2: beginning for the Patriots?
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: Lawyer Maloy?
- 1:54:37Speaker 2: But but you know, Brady Bledzell, Yeah that was drama.
- 1:54:40Speaker 2: Yeah right, you know in the whole how much as
- 1:54:42Speaker 2: it coming together that was that was that was not Yeah,
- 1:54:46Speaker 2: that wasn't schlock. That was that was big you know,
- 1:54:50Speaker 2: the you know, the the winning and coming on all
- 1:54:52Speaker 2: that stuff and overcoming the.
- 1:54:54Speaker 1: Lawyer Maloy thing that wasn't in the dynasty.
- 1:54:57Speaker 2: No, No, I'm just saying, these are the things that
- 1:54:59Speaker 2: were drama in the early part of the shore. So
- 1:55:03Speaker 2: I don't know, having Alex Smith in a twelve win
- 1:55:06Speaker 2: team and drafting Patrick Mahomes and you know, that whole
- 1:55:08Speaker 2: sort of passing of the torch right kind of you know,
- 1:55:11Speaker 2: not the same as Pletzo Brady, but similar.
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:55:15Speaker 2: You know, then you you know, you get good, you
- 1:55:16Speaker 2: start winning, and you know, Tyreek Hill arguably the best
- 1:55:21Speaker 2: player on the team. They decide we got to part
- 1:55:24Speaker 2: ways right to say nothing of off field where you
- 1:55:28Speaker 2: want to go, like the whole uh Mahomes situation, well
- 1:55:32Speaker 2: not the Mahomes brother thing, but like the off field
- 1:55:35Speaker 2: with Aaron Hernandez here, like what was the timeline of
- 1:55:39Speaker 2: the guy and his name escapes me that killed himself?
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: Well that was before Mahomes, sure, yeah, because Jason Stone
- 1:55:47Speaker 1: was there then.
- 1:55:48Speaker 2: Okay, so that was a long time ago. But the
- 1:55:51Speaker 2: other thing I was going to say off field was
- 1:55:53Speaker 2: Andy Reid's son who injured somebody. So this drama in
- 1:55:57Speaker 2: every organization that you don't know about that would make
- 1:56:00Speaker 2: for a great documentary. Yeah, And I think I think
- 1:56:03Speaker 2: Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes are fascinating documentary subjects personally,
- 1:56:09Speaker 2: more so than Belichick. For sure Andy Reid personality wise, Yeah,
- 1:56:14Speaker 2: I'm way more interested in what makes him tick.
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, yep, so thanks John. I think every
- 1:56:21Speaker 1: it's just impossible not to have drama in when you
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: have fifty three guys on the team, plus coaches and
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: owners and all that stuff going through every year, stuff happens.
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: They're human beings, Like what do you only know that?
- 1:56:34Speaker 2: By the way, I forgot the most recent thing right
- 1:56:37Speaker 2: down to they had their parade two weeks ago and
- 1:56:40Speaker 2: they had a shooting and a poor woman lost her life,
- 1:56:43Speaker 2: right Like, there's drama. There's drama everywhere.
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: And forget about the drama. You got the whole Taylor
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: Swift stuff. I mean, how many teams has that happened
- 1:56:52Speaker 1: to them? Where one of the most iconic stars in
- 1:56:55Speaker 1: the world.
- 1:56:55Speaker 2: When you think about it parallel, So like I'm Candy,
- 1:56:58Speaker 2: like Brady Brady just l and you know, but I
- 1:57:00Speaker 2: would Travis Kelsey and Swift.
- 1:57:02Speaker 1: I would argue that Taylor Swift is much more popular.
- 1:57:05Speaker 2: I don't really think it's an argument, right, you know, So,
- 1:57:09Speaker 2: like there's a lot there, and there's a lot on
- 1:57:12Speaker 2: that bone.
- 1:57:12Speaker 1: They were only five or six years into.
- 1:57:14Speaker 2: It, and Johnny South Beach was you know, he set
- 1:57:15Speaker 2: it up front. He goes, listen, you know, maybe it's
- 1:57:17Speaker 2: a little Homer in me, you know, and I and
- 1:57:19Speaker 2: I get that. Like, now, am I as interested in
- 1:57:21Speaker 2: Kansas City?
- 1:57:22Speaker 10: No?
- 1:57:22Speaker 2: Yeah, but I'm a Patriots fan. I grew up in Boston,
- 1:57:25Speaker 2: so obviously I'm much more interested in the Patriots than
- 1:57:28Speaker 2: the Chiefs.
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: Jerry's in Connecticut. Will finish up with you? What's up, Jerry? Jerry?
- 1:57:37Speaker 15: Hey, how's it going?
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: Guys? All right?
- 1:57:40Speaker 15: Did you pronounce my name?
- 1:57:41Speaker 1: He said, Jerry Jerry. That's what it's written down here.
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: Jerry in Connecticut. Unbelievable. It's Harry Harry. Come on, geez,
- 1:57:50Speaker 1: get him his T shirt? Will you?
- 1:57:52Speaker 2: Geez? Don darn?
- 1:57:54Speaker 12: Darn?
- 1:57:55Speaker 14: What was?
- 1:57:56Speaker 20: I want to repeat your name back to you.
- 1:58:03Speaker 15: I want Drake May on this football game, and I'm
- 1:58:05Speaker 15: worried that he's not going to slip to to three.
- 1:58:09Speaker 15: So I want you know, Washington on the phone. I
- 1:58:12Speaker 15: want your opinion of you know, what is it going
- 1:58:14Speaker 15: to take to move up right? Is it a future
- 1:58:16Speaker 15: first that I don't really know.
- 1:58:18Speaker 2: It kind of depends on what I don't think it
- 1:58:20Speaker 2: would cost you that much. But no, because here's the thing. Let's,
- 1:58:26Speaker 2: just for argument's sake, say that Caleb Williams goes one. Right,
- 1:58:29Speaker 2: So it's Washington, and they have their choice between Jaden
- 1:58:32Speaker 2: Daniels and Drake May. If they want Drake May. They
- 1:58:35Speaker 2: ain't trading it, okay, so I don't think it's costing
- 1:58:39Speaker 2: you a future. First, you know, I don't know exactly
- 1:58:44Speaker 2: what it is to move up one spot, but they're
- 1:58:46Speaker 2: not trading under any circumstances unless somebody lower and all
- 1:58:53Speaker 2: of a sudden, now, well, I do like Drake May
- 1:58:56Speaker 2: more than Jade and Daniels, but they're really close, and
- 1:59:00Speaker 2: the Vikings are looking to give me Justin Jefferson plus
- 1:59:02Speaker 2: the first round pick and the second round pick, and
- 1:59:04Speaker 2: the Patriots all of a sudden, there's a bidding war. Now,
- 1:59:07Speaker 2: maybe you do it, but I think you could make
- 1:59:10Speaker 2: that move. It'll be interesting. That's the one unknown factor
- 1:59:15Speaker 2: to me is it'd be fascinating to know how Elliott
- 1:59:17Speaker 2: Wolf and Gerard Mayo feel about the.
- 1:59:20Speaker 1: Three qu If you're in that situation at number two
- 1:59:22Speaker 1: and you really don't you're not enamored with Drake May,
- 1:59:27Speaker 1: do you get it out there before that, you know,
- 1:59:28Speaker 1: we're not going to pick Drake May, So phones are
- 1:59:31Speaker 1: open for you to call us and tell us what.
- 1:59:34Speaker 2: You or the opposite, you know, like we love both
- 1:59:37Speaker 2: of these guys and we're trying to decide between the
- 1:59:39Speaker 2: two of them. Yeah, right, okay, and that way. Oh,
- 1:59:43Speaker 2: they might take May, but they look like they sound
- 1:59:46Speaker 2: like they're willing to take Daniels too, So let's see
- 1:59:48Speaker 2: if we can jump up there because we like May right,
- 1:59:50Speaker 2: you know, like like Harry, Harry.
- 1:59:52Speaker 15: Allows them to get more more value out of that
- 1:59:55Speaker 15: pick if they leave it open who they're going to take, right, Yeah.
- 1:59:59Speaker 2: I think that's part of the smoke screen season of
- 2:00:02Speaker 2: you know the Draft time, which I thought that was
- 2:00:04Speaker 2: one of the most interesting parts. Did you read Peter
- 2:00:06Speaker 2: King's a farewell, No, it's Peter King.
- 2:00:09Speaker 9: No.
- 2:00:10Speaker 2: I thought that was one of the things that I
- 2:00:12Speaker 2: won't miss, and it was you know the draft. He
- 2:00:16Speaker 2: goes the silliest thing I've ever done in ever, and
- 2:00:18Speaker 2: I do it every year, mock draft. He thinks they're ridiculous.
- 2:00:22Speaker 2: I totally agree. He goes. The only time is of
- 2:00:25Speaker 2: any remote value is the week of the draft, when
- 2:00:28Speaker 2: you've sort of let all the smoke settle and all
- 2:00:31Speaker 2: the duck, you know whatever, and then he was talking
- 2:00:34Speaker 2: about how he won't miss all of those like smoke
- 2:00:38Speaker 2: screens and lies, lying season and all that stuff, which
- 2:00:41Speaker 2: I think that's that's a big part of this. All right.
- 2:00:44Speaker 1: I just saw Alex Barth walk through the door. That
- 2:00:46Speaker 1: means Catch twenty.
- 2:00:47Speaker 2: He's hydrating, so he's obviously getting ready to deal with
- 2:00:50Speaker 2: Evan for.
- 2:00:50Speaker 1: A while to get ready to talk to Evan in
- 2:00:52Speaker 1: front of Paul's bed sheet. So it's a four second delay, Alex,
- 2:00:57Speaker 1: So be careful, all right. We will talk to you
- 2:01:00Speaker 1: next week on Tuesday. Have a good weekend. Cash twenty
- 2:01:03Speaker 1: two is up next.
