- 0:27Hey, good morning everybody from the garage because I am setting
- 0:33up my plans for planting. And this is an interesting time
- 0:41because I get to go and I get to pick the seeds and I get to sit
- 0:44down and I get to map it all out.
- 0:46And it's all very exciting for me.
- 0:47And I get to come in and check my lights, which is what I was
- 0:49doing this morning because I've got grow lights.
- 0:52Planning out how many weeks until I have seedlings and all
- 0:54that good stuff. But that's not really what the
- 0:57purpose of this conversation is. Today.
- 0:59I'm in here because I was setting it all up.
- 1:01It's very, very early. Like very early.
- 1:03And I stopped and paused and I said, you know what's
- 1:08interesting? Last year I didn't get the time
- 1:11to grow, set up to grow winter vegetables.
- 1:14And I was going through my brain sorting out like, 'cause I
- 1:19technically I could grow year round here if I had the right
- 1:23plan for it. And immediately my head went to
- 1:27the space of going, I didn't get the time to do that.
- 1:30I didn't get the time to do this.
- 1:31I should have planted. I could have done this if I had
- 1:33just planned this. My brain was going off on.
- 1:36I could have grown broccoli, Rob.
- 1:38I could have grown all crucifix vegetables.
- 1:41I could have done a lot of different things, but I didn't
- 1:44do it and I kept saying in my head I didn't have the time.
- 1:48And immediately I pulled out my phone because sometimes when I
- 1:52have these thoughts and it's not always the most appropriate
- 1:56time. Hence this morning to actually
- 1:59shoot with the chickens. But it's a really good thought
- 2:02because it's happening to me live time.
- 2:04So I kept saying I didn't get the time.
- 2:06Now there are 168 hours in a week, OK, 168 hours in a week.
- 2:14And to set up those seedlings and plan that out, that was
- 2:19probably about 2 1/2 hours to three hours of work to make the
- 2:23plans, to set the pots, to get the seeds.
- 2:25I'm talking every part of it, ordering it, putting it
- 2:28together, then maybe 3 hours of a week.
- 2:31And that wouldn't even even have to be in the same week because I
- 2:34would have to order seeds, get them shipped in.
- 2:37I'm talking cumulative hours put together.
- 2:40So three hours out of 168 over and that's if I did it all in a
- 2:46week. Now the point of this is to kick
- 2:50myself in the butt and say why am I saying I didn't have the
- 2:54time? Because we all have the same 168
- 2:59hours in a week. And granted, I am very, very
- 3:03productive in my weeks and I know that I I do as much as a
- 3:08human can on some weeks. Like with sleeping, with adding
- 3:12in sleep and a reasonable amount of sleep.
- 3:14Because I love to go and get go to bed early and get a good
- 3:19solid six to seven hours of sleep.
- 3:21That's what my sweet spot is. 8 hours too long for me.
- 3:25But that 7 hour mark, that's it. Now when you take that out of
- 3:30it, you sit there and say to yourself, OK, all those other
- 3:33hours are available. All those other hours are
- 3:35available. And yes, we have chores and yes,
- 3:38we have jobs and we have things to do, but they are our hours
- 3:42and we get to do what we want with them and we choose with
- 3:46them. So really the question had to
- 3:50come back to me and say, OK, well, it's not that you didn't
- 3:55get to do it, it's that you didn't choose to do it.
- 3:58And it was your 168 hours and you didn't choose it.
- 4:02And as soon as I said that to myself, I was like, OK, I really
- 4:06need to come back to this. One, with my own coach and two,
- 4:09with the fact that I have without doubt the time to make
- 4:15it work if I chose to put it on the radar and do it.
- 4:18But it was it important enough to me?
- 4:20Did I bring it back to saying was it important enough to me?
- 4:23Was this important enough for me to say I'm going to rearrange my
- 4:27schedule, I'm going to do this. This is what's going to happen
- 4:30and I'm making it happen because I choose it.
- 4:33And the truth was no. It's for some reason it just
- 4:37wasn't. Is it something I wanted to do?
- 4:39Yes. Is it something I did do?
- 4:41No. And I have to look back as I
- 4:45start to go into the planning phase for next year as to what
- 4:47happened. What was the reason I didn't do
- 4:50it? What was the reason?
- 4:52Was it the fact that the IT was so hot at the end of the year
- 4:55that it just took me out of gardening?
- 4:58Maybe I have to go back and read what I wrote in my journal in my
- 5:01notes. Maybe I need to start keeping a
- 5:04more thorough journal. Maybe I need to just start doing
- 5:06a complete gardening journal. So I know maybe there are those
- 5:10parts of it. But the truth is, and the point
- 5:13of this whole podcast today is to sit there and say we all have
- 5:17the same 168 hours. What are you going to do with
- 5:20yours 'cause I know I'm going to really explore mine now that I
- 5:23had that thought and I'm not going to say to myself without
- 5:27at least exploring it, you know, I didn't have the time.
- 5:31That is not the way to answer the question.
- 5:35I didn't choose to make the time.
- 5:37I didn't see I needed to put that time in.
- 5:40There are other ways to phrase it, but it's not that I didn't
- 5:43have the time. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:46you have a blessed day and I will see you all tomorrow.
- 5:49Bye.
