- Lucas: Alright, Luna, ready for episode 125? Luna: I am! It's getting chilly outside — makes me think of winter. Lucas: Perfect segue. Today we're talking about the four seasons in Danish. Luna: Oh, I love that. I've been wanting to say which season I like best. Lucas: Then let's start with the basics. Spring in Danish is forår. Luna: Forår. Lucas: Good. Forår. Summer is sommer. Luna: Sommer. Sounds like the English word, just with a Danish twist. Lucas: Exactly. Autumn or fall is efterår. Luna: Efterår. That one's a bit longer. Lucas: And winter is vinter. Luna: Vinter. Almost like 'winter' but with a v. Lucas: You've got it. Let's hear them all: forår, sommer, efterår, vinter. Luna: Forår, sommer, efterår, vinter. Lucas: Great. Now, how do you say 'I like spring'? Jeg kan godt lide forår. Luna: Jeg kan godt lide forår. Lucas: Yes. And if you want to ask someone what their favourite season is: Hvad er din yndlingsårstid? Luna: Wow, that's a mouthful. Hvad er din yndlingsårstid? Lucas: You said it perfectly. Yndlingsårstid means favourite season. Luna: Okay, let me try that question. Hvad er din yndlingsårstid? Lucas: Min yndlingsårstid er sommer. I love the warmth. Luna: Min yndlingsårstid er vinter. I love snow. Lucas: Nice. So now you can both say your favourite season and ask others. Let's practice a mini dialogue. Luna: Great. I'll start. Hvad er din yndlingsårstid? Lucas: Jeg kan godt lide efterår. The colours are beautiful. Luna: Jeg kan godt lide vinter. I like skiing. Lucas: Perfect. Now, you might want to talk about weather too. In forår it's often blæsende, windy. In sommer it's varmt, hot. Luna: And in efterår it's blæsende too, right? And in vinter it's koldt. Lucas: Exactly. You remember from our weather episodes. So for example: Om vinteren er det koldt. Luna: Om vinteren er det koldt. Lucas: Om sommeren er det varmt. Luna: Om sommeren er det varmt. Lucas: You're doing great. Let's do a quick review of today's phrases: forår, sommer, efterår, vinter. Luna: Forår, sommer, efterår, vinter. Lucas: Jeg kan godt lide forår. Luna: Jeg kan godt lide forår. Lucas: Hvad er din yndlingsårstid? Luna: Hvad er din yndlingsårstid? Lucas: Now, you know how we always try to keep this podcast free and ad-free for everyone? Every little bit helps, and it means a lot. Now, back to the seasons — can we practice one more sentence? Lucas: Sure. Let's try: Om foråret blomstrer blomsterne. In spring, the flowers bloom. Luna: Om foråret blomstrer blomsterne. That's poetic. Lucas: It is. And you can use that pattern for any season. Om sommeren... Om efteråret... Om vinteren... Luna: Om sommeren er det varmt. Om efteråret falder bladene. Om vinteren sner det. Lucas: Excellent sentences. You've really got the hang of it. Luna: Thanks, Lucas. This was a fun episode. I feel ready to talk about seasons in Danish. Lucas: That's the goal. Keep practicing, and we'll see you next time on Learn Danish with Fexingo.
