Transcript
- 0:13It's a segment we look forward to all months long. Ladies and gentlemen.
- 0:19It's the final hour of the Tuesday edition of The Morning Show with Preston Scott
- 0:25and joining Grant, Allen and Me. Is the Irreverent, not irrelevant,
- 0:36but the irreverent Jerome Hudson. He's the entertainment editor at Bridebar dot com.
- 0:42He's also author of the Fifty Things books. Hello friend, how are you?
- 0:48I'm good. I think if you google Peter Griffin, irreverence is one
- 0:53of the adjectives used to describe that family guy character, So I'll take it.
- 0:59I'm doing great. My mom just texted me asking me why I'm up
- 1:02so early, and I sort of chuckled because I've been up for about an
- 1:07hour and a half. Now, I mean, you understand this, President,
- 1:12This is not early. No, no no. When I sleep until
- 1:18six in the morning, I'm bed sore. I get I'm achy from sleeping
- 1:25that much longer. Okay, Look, Jerome and I don't script what we're
- 1:30going to talk about unless there's something like really important he wants to weigh in
- 1:34on. But I will tell you everything I want to bring up today is
- 1:38from your pages. Okay, all right, so this is strictly your wheelhouse.
- 1:45All right, hopefully I don't fail here. Well, no, you're
- 1:48not going to, because, first of all, you got serious game.
- 1:51Otherwise you wouldn't be a guest on this program. You wouldn't be doing what
- 1:53you're doing. You wouldn't be writing books that people want to read. So
- 1:57I need some to explain the entire Taylor Swift thing to me. First of
- 2:05all, is it true that she is capable of swinging enough votes to Biden
- 2:14that it matters? Not? According to some polling, so she could sway
- 2:22twenty percent of the electorate. But if you dig into the numbers, most
- 2:27of that twenty percent are young voters. I think it's eighteen to thirty four.
- 2:30That is actually the group of Americans, sadly, very sadly, who
- 2:36are historically disaffected with their belief that they can actually achieve the American dream.
- 2:44And the first thing that comes to mind is home ownership. It has been
- 2:47sort of the actual physical symbol of the American dream for many Americans for over
- 2:53half a century. And so the Biden administration rolling out a billionaire in Taylor
- 3:04Swift. She's not in the one percent, she's in the zero point zero
- 3:08one percent is just the type of Biden campaign strategy that we've all come to
- 3:15expect, given how awful the Biden administration strategy has been. So you're okay,
- 3:23let me ask you though, So now, even though you and I
- 3:28both probably agree wholeheartedly that the Republicans seemingly are incapable of seizing messaging opportunities and
- 3:36using them effectively, but let's just say they get a brain transplant and they
- 3:40suddenly are able to. Wouldn't then a Taylor Swift endorsement of Biden actually be
- 3:46a godsend for the Republicans because they can point out the disconnect between Taylor Swift
- 3:53and everybody that she's influencing. Yeah, and you know, thank God that
- 3:58this radio program exists and the bride Bart News Network exists because to your first
- 4:03point, No, the Republican National Committee and the the the Republican Party messaging
- 4:11machine permanently, permanently out of out of out of service, and so it
- 4:15will it will, as it usually is the case, take you know,
- 4:21the smart minded people in the movement to reach the people on the ground,
- 4:28those those everyday Americans who, frankly, Taylor Swift has spent about the better
- 4:33part of a decade smearing. I actually not to give too much away,
- 4:42put a dossier together last night. US is probably too fancy a word.
- 4:47Oh no, but I love it. That's a cool word, and it's
- 4:53sort of it just it juices up the imports of of of the thing just
- 4:58way too much. No. I went back and I looked at all of
- 5:01the coverage that Breitbart News has done of Taylor Swift. In the first link
- 5:06here is let's see that is May twenty fifteen. The headline is quote quote
- 5:14wow, misogyny is ingrained in people from the time they are born. That
- 5:20is Taylor Swift telling Maxim magazine she was the June cover girl, I'm assuming
- 5:28in the summer issue of twenty fifteen. So Jales has been pretty horrible for
- 5:33about a decade wherever you may be, from Florida Sunshine State to New York's
- 5:40forget New York. Scratch that. New York's now hopeless. At least the
- 5:44city is for the rest. We're your Morning Show, The Morning Show with
- 5:48Preston Scott twelve minutes past the hour. Jerome Hudson with US Jome, do
- 5:57we ignore Taylor Swift at our peril. Now she's going to be there and
- 6:04the one thing or a few things. One of the most important things that
- 6:08I realized was just how bad Taylor Swift is on so many issues that actually
- 6:15do matter to people. But I don't know, I think that the bright
- 6:19bart. I can't speak for the entire brain trust of the news room,
- 6:25But insofar as the conversations that I've already had on how we cover Taylor Swift's
- 6:30involvement in the twenty twenty four presidential election, We're just going to point out
- 6:35number one, how bad she's been on policy. You know, she's headlined
- 6:43a concert in the summer of twenty nineteen and by far the most barbaric and
- 6:51brutal country on the planet in China. Taylor Swift, I think she still
- 6:58has two private jets Preston. I know she did at one point for many
- 7:03years. I think she sold one of her private jets in twenty twenty,
- 7:08but I do think that she purchased another one, and I think she purchased
- 7:11it just to lend it out to her friends. But she's also a climate
- 7:15change alarmists. Yeah, to be clear, there's nothing wrong with owning the
- 7:20jets. The problem is to be a hypocrite. Just shut up about how
- 7:26the planet is warming and we're all at our peril because we breathe and fart
- 7:30too much or whatever. She has given multiple statements about trans writes, whatever
- 7:38those are. She's donated money to egregious organizations that quite frankly, don't actually
- 7:46promote or seemingly care about the physical and mental, long term hazards of altering
- 7:53your body at a young age. The list just goes on and on,
- 7:58and she has smeared probably a large share of this audience if they agree with
- 8:05at least eighty percent of the politics that you and I agree on. I
- 8:09mean, she's called Republicans and conservatives racists, misogynist, homophobes, and that
- 8:18quote misogyny is ingrained in people from the time they are born, en quote.
- 8:24Jalis said that in the summer of twenty fifteen, that's probably preston one
- 8:28of the top ten things that I despise about American politics and its discourse.
- 8:35You to think, to think that someone is fatally flawed in that way before
- 8:43they learn how to poop and pee, there's something that's That's what the preamble
- 8:50to the ku Klutz Klan had to be you know, at the introductory meeting.
- 8:54Black people, Jews and gaze are are flawed from the time they are
- 9:01born. For I don't know, Taylor Swift still thinks that misogyny is ingrained
- 9:05in people from the time they're born. She may not, given what we
- 9:11know about Travis Kelcey's dating history, a bit of a womanizer in years past,
- 9:18to say the least. But no, we can't ignore there's an amazing
- 9:24mean machine already out there. One says, I saw that Taylor Swift endorse
- 9:28Joe Biden, which wasn't surprising considering ninety five percent of her songs or about
- 9:33choosing the wrong guy. So enclosing for this segment, are we going to
- 9:41see an entertainment page devoted to or even a separate website called the Taylor Swift
- 9:48Dotsier. No, I mean, I think, look, it's such a
- 9:54searchable thing right now. I think you guys ought to roll out a page
- 9:58that looks like a fan age where you just tell the truth using her own
- 10:03words of what she believes. Is this, This will age, This will
- 10:07age very well. I don't I don't I trust the American people of Oh
- 10:13don't do that. Hold on there, I got it. I'm gonna have
- 10:20to have a chat with my friend here in the break back with more,
- 10:22Jerome Hudson of bridebart dot com. It's the entertainment editor and one of my
- 10:28favorite people ever. Twenty two minutes past the hour. I can't tell you
- 10:39how much I look forward to our visits with my friend Jerome Hudson bridebar dot
- 10:43com. Fifty things books and we've been talking about and you know, there's
- 10:48a part of me that feels like I've just I've just violated some I don't
- 10:54know, some oath of decency by spending this much time talking about Taylor Swift.
- 11:00But you mentioned a little ad hoc dossier that you kind of threw together.
- 11:05What do you think the odds are there being a page? Maybe it's
- 11:09not at Breitbart, maybe it is, or maybe it's just at another site.
- 11:13You guys create where you're not editorializing, but where you're just letting Taylor
- 11:16Swift's words speak for themselves as they've been uttered and let people let the youngsters
- 11:24know what she really thinks about these issues. A page that anything's possible.
- 11:31Yeah, Usually the tact taken on issues or subjects content opportunities like this is
- 11:41you know, we just we just sort of mock it and make fun of
- 11:45it. And I think that's we will do that. It'll be serious reportage.
- 11:54And you suggested something, just use Taylor Swift's own words, and that's
- 11:58that's sort of the best way the egal Rights Amendment and the audience is forgiven
- 12:03if they don't actually know what the er is. Has been around for decades
- 12:11and it's never actually been codified in a federal law for a lot of good
- 12:16reasons. And Taylor Swift has sort of been the celebrity face of that awful
- 12:20piece of policy for years. And you know, there is a deceased and
- 12:26very prominent former justice, I'll say, who came out against the egal Rights
- 12:33Amendment many years ago, and it's just, I mean, this woman is
- 12:37a stalwart of abortion rights and feminism and has been and deservedly so. And
- 12:43it's so it's using this iconic former justice of the United States Supreme Court to
- 12:50call out everything that is not only wrong with the egal Rights Amendment, but
- 12:56to say, hey, Taylor Swift, we appreciate your off more lyricism and
- 13:01your catchy hooks, but you know, leave the serious policy and legislative politics
- 13:07stuff to the people who've dedicated their lives to it. You know, no
- 13:11offense, but thanks, but no thanks, And that'll be our approach.
- 13:16People can like Taylors with music. They can, you know, see her
- 13:20business acumen for what it is, absolutely stellar. But I'm just telling you,
- 13:26like how wrong she's been on just about every shiba left of the American
- 13:31left is quite stunning. So the people will be informed. I will come
- 13:37on this radio show monthly and we will we will laugh a lot about it.
- 13:43I'm actually sad though, because wait a minute, Wait a minute,
- 13:48wait a minute, let me make let me make a count not a counter
- 13:50argument, because Breitbart's gonna do what it's gonna do. You guys are gonna
- 13:54do what you're gonna do, and I think it's awesome and I think it's
- 13:56great. Now it's reality a time. Here's the reality. You're going to
- 14:05solidify the thinking of the readers of Breitbart, the listeners of morning shows like
- 14:11mine, listeners when you're doing serious XM, You're going to solidify what we
- 14:18believe and think and know, and we're going to go, yeah, that's
- 14:22true. If you just do that, though, and don't try to get
- 14:26outside the sphere of Breitbart. You're not going to have a chance of impacting
- 14:31because it's going to be dismissed as just, oh, that's that right wing
- 14:35bright Bart's site. That's why I think someone, whether it's Breitbart or somebody
- 14:41that you guys might know, that might come up with the same idea.
- 14:45Who knows. I'm actually giving a speech at Orlando Young Americans Foundation on February
- 14:52tenth, and I had been thinking and praying and ruminating about what I was
- 14:58going to talk about for at least a month, sort of my pre speech
- 15:05writing ritual. But now this conversation in front of a very large audience,
- 15:13maybe I should make not the focus of my speech, but a large or
- 15:18sizeable portion of my speech about you know, goes with It's like so many
- 15:24of these famous, talented maybe arguably, but she's like the embodiment of the
- 15:31American dream, and every public policy fan she's taken would invariably make it harder
- 15:39for people to achieve the heights that she herself has. And someone's got to
- 15:46get that message to people that may not have forged a hard opinion one way
- 15:50or the other. But use her own words against her and not be dismissed
- 15:56because it came from Breitbart. That's my argument. Hey, hang out in
- 16:00the green room a second longer. He knows what I mean by that.
- 16:03Bright Bart's Jerome Hudson. He's entertainment editor, author of the Fifty Things books.
- 16:07Look him up on Amazon. You'll find them very thoughtful and of course
- 16:14one of our favorite guests here on the Morning Show with Presdon Scott
