Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
• 0:02
Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're going to pick up
• 0:05
where we left off with the Bill Gates interview with
• 0:09
Congress Specter. We can go on the record, mister Gates.
• 0:13
During the Majority's first hour, we discussed one draft email
• 0:16
that was sent by mister Epstein himself. There is a second,
• 0:19
somewhat similar email. I'll enter that into the record as
• 0:23
Majority Exhibit three. It's an email, also from July eighteenth,
• 0:28
twenty thirteen, this time at one thirty three pm. It's
• 0:31
Bates marked as the FTA zero one nine six seven
• 0:35
five two eight. I'll give you a second to look
• 0:38
at it. Have you seen this email before? Answer only
• 0:42
as part of the release of the Epstein Files. Question,
• 0:45
So you had not seen this email until it was
• 0:46
released publicly by the Department of Justice. Is that right? Answer?
• 0:51
That's right. Question. Had you seen any email that was
• 0:54
similar to it or close to it or you'd seen
• 0:56
nothing like this before? Answer? Nothing like this. Question. What
• 1:01
was your reaction when you saw this in the Epstein Files?
• 1:05
Answer it looked like it looks like Epstein is suggesting, Well,
• 1:08
it's an email to himself. So who knows if he
• 1:11
ever sent it to doctor Nikolch, but it looks like
• 1:13
he's musing on using a mixture of facts and falsities
• 1:16
as an effort, almost like a blackmail to advance some
• 1:19
goal in improving doctor Nicolch negotiating position as part of
• 1:24
his exit from my employ Question. I'll read parts of
• 1:27
the email into the records, starting with near the top.
• 1:31
It's at the third sentence, you've decided to discharge me
• 1:34
from my job. Had Larry, you're a PR person tell
• 1:37
me that I engaged in morally inappropriate behavior and then
• 1:41
asked me to be a major actor in a cover
• 1:43
up so that you can maintain the reputation that you've
• 1:45
worked so hard to achieve. End quote for the record,
• 1:49
is it fair to say that the person being referenced
• 1:51
here Larry you're a PR person, is Larry Cohen? Answer? Well,
• 1:56
Larry was not my PR person. But in a word,
• 1:59
speculating who a person who, particularly in the email to himself,
• 2:03
you know, generated literally dozens of false things. That sentence
• 2:07
may refer to Larry Cohen, but he was not my
• 2:09
PR person. Question fair enough, but was mister Cohen involved
• 2:13
in any way in the discussions about mister Nikolch doctor
• 2:17
Nikolicch departure. Answer yes, question thank you. Did you direct
• 2:22
Larry Cohen to tell mister Nikolch that he had engaged
• 2:25
in morally inappropriate behavior? Answer no. Question. Did Larry Cohen,
• 2:30
to your knowledge, ever tell doctor Nikolch that he had
• 2:33
engaged in morally inappropriate behavior? Answer I don't believe so.
• 2:38
Question have you talked to mister Cohen about that? Answer no. Question.
• 2:43
Have you ever had any discussion with mister Cohen about
• 2:45
this email since seeing it in the Epstein files? Answer no.
• 2:50
Question do you believe that doctor Nikolch had engaged in
• 2:53
a morally inappropriate behavior? Answer well, depending on how you
• 2:57
characterize his not telling my wife about affairs I'd had,
• 3:00
that's the extent of it. Question Did you ever tell
• 3:04
doctor Nikolch explicitly to keep these affairs his knowledge of
• 3:07
these affairs private, Answer no, I did not. In fact,
• 3:11
you'll see an email from me where I say during
• 3:13
the exit negotiations that if they're trying to change the
• 3:16
terms away from what was agreed upon before Epstein's involvement,
• 3:20
that we won't reach agreement, and that involves I mean,
• 3:24
you can pull all the exact email. But I say,
• 3:26
if that involves things being disclosed about me, I'll just
• 3:29
bear the pain. But I'm not going to change my
• 3:31
offer to doctor Nikolch as part of the exit agreement.
• 3:35
Question I understand. Let's go back a little bit further though,
• 3:38
when doctor Nikolch first became aware of these two affairs.
• 3:42
At that point in time, I think I asked you
• 3:44
earlier if you had ever discussed the affairs with doctor Nikolch.
• 3:48
But did you ever initially tell doctor Nikolch that you
• 3:51
expected him to keep this as a secret for you? Answer?
• 3:55
I did not question, So you just assumed that he
• 3:58
wouldn't share it. Answer We never discussed. Question how long
• 4:02
from the start of the first affair to when you
• 4:04
told Milinda? How long? Was that? Answer? Probably several years?
• 4:08
Question several years or seven? Sorry? Answer, I said several years.
• 4:13
Question several years. So over the course of those several years,
• 4:17
you never had a conversation with doctor Nikolch asking him
• 4:20
to kind of keep this a secret. Answer I did
• 4:23
not question. I'll continue reading. It's a little bit further down,
• 4:27
still near the top, It says Larry has now asked
• 4:30
me to recommit to a confidentiality agreement and have categorically
• 4:34
told me that you were of firm mind that we
• 4:37
should no longer have any direct, ongoing business relationship with
• 4:41
a total disregard for its impact on the public perception
• 4:44
of my reputation. You've requested that I diligently avoid the truth,
• 4:48
tell people that Bill will not invest with me, and
• 4:51
craft answers that suits yours and Melinda's needs. I think
• 4:55
you've already answered part of my questions about this, but
• 4:58
I guess I'll ask in a different way. Did you
• 5:00
have any as part of his position or otherwise Did
• 5:04
you have any confidentiality agreement with doctor Nikolach about anything? Answer?
• 5:08
I'm not sure. Question you're not aware of whether you
• 5:11
had any legal non disclosure agreement or anything of the
• 5:14
sort with doctor Nikeolch. Answer I'm not question, And let
• 5:19
me just be clear. You with him or the Gates
• 5:23
Foundation or any of the other ventures. Do you know
• 5:26
if those entities had non disclosure agreements with doctor Nicolich.
• 5:30
Answer you know, doctor Nikolich. I assume when he worked
• 5:33
for the foundation, which had ended, you know, a long
• 5:35
time before this, there may be a standard non disclosure
• 5:39
as part of that I don't know. Likewise, when he
• 5:42
joins Gates Ventures, there may be some standard non disclosure,
• 5:45
but I was never part of any discussion about that
• 5:48
with anyone, including doctor Nikolich. Question and if there was
• 5:53
a non disclosure agreement with doctor Nikolich that you were
• 5:56
not aware of, that wouldn't have anything to do with
• 5:59
the affairs. Is that fair to say? Answer no. As
• 6:02
I told you, I sent an email that if they
• 6:04
were trying to ask for a change in the exit package,
• 6:07
then I said I would just bear the pain of
• 6:08
whatever disclosures resulted. Thereafter, question by mister Grant. Question, and,
• 6:15
since the topic of non disclosure agreements have been brought up,
• 6:18
at any point did you or any of your representatives
• 6:21
or agents ask anyone to sign a non disclosure agreement
• 6:25
or other agreement in connection to Jeffrey Epstein, Glean Maxwell
• 6:28
or any of their crimes? Answer no question. And have
• 6:33
you or any of your representatives or agents had conversations
• 6:36
about non disclosure agreements with victims or their lawyers related
• 6:40
to Jeffrey Epstein or gawayn Maxwell? Answer no question. And
• 6:44
at any point did you or any of your representatives
• 6:47
secure settlement in connection to Jeffrey Epstein, Glain Maxwell, or
• 6:51
any of their victims answer no question. Thank you, mister spector.
• 6:57
Doing the questioning again now, and I'll continue reading. I'll
• 7:01
read just a portion in this one. It starts with
• 7:04
I can assure you that if the shoe was on
• 7:06
the other foot, I would have said, Boris, this is
• 7:09
not your fault. Mister Gates. Can you point out where
• 7:12
he is? Mister morn yep Gates, Okay, there you are question.
• 7:17
I can assure you that if the shoe was on
• 7:18
the other foot, I would have said, Boris, this is
• 7:20
not your fault. I confess to Melinda you didn't. It
• 7:24
was in a moment of weakness, and I promise that
• 7:27
we'll do anything within my power to make it right
• 7:29
for you. I have more money than anyone needs, and
• 7:32
I do my utmost to structure something that you will
• 7:34
not be penalized for my error. I'll end reading the
• 7:38
quote there, but he goes on to kind of describe
• 7:41
what it is that you should have done for doctor Nikolch. Again.
• 7:45
I think I asked you about this a little bit earlier,
• 7:47
but it seems to be characterizing the nature of doctor
• 7:50
Nikolitch's departure as being about you know, your confession to
• 7:53
your ex wife to your then wife. Did your wife
• 7:56
ever meet with doctor Nikolitch directly to discuss this answer?
• 8:00
Not to my knowledge. Question the next portion that I'll read.
• 8:04
It's a little bit further down near the bottom. What
• 8:07
I did receive, however, question Okay, let's track that. Okay,
• 8:10
here we are question. What I did receive, however, was
• 8:13
an unfriendly, strongly worded email telling me how employable I
• 8:17
am and that I should not look for you for
• 8:20
any significant financial help in the future. Ted insulted the injury.
• 8:24
You then subsequently, with tears in your eyes, implore me
• 8:27
to please delete the emails regarding your std, your requests
• 8:31
that I provide you, antibiotics that you can surreptitiously give
• 8:35
to Melinda, and the description of your penis. You also
• 8:39
made clear to me that I'm not to refer to redacted,
• 8:43
as that is another topic that must remain between the
• 8:46
two of us. In return for all these requests, which
• 8:49
I would have done without a second thought, I am
• 8:52
not to attend meetings with Melinda. I should continue to
• 8:55
provide the same level of service and dedication that I
• 8:58
have so diligently until you were ready to discard me
• 9:01
and our friendship sometime after the first of the year.
• 9:05
So there's a lot going on here, just initially, doctor Nikolich.
• 9:08
Or again, mister Epstein seems to be referring to a
• 9:12
strongly worded email, and it seems you may have sent
• 9:15
that to doctor Nikolicch. Do you recall what that might
• 9:17
have been? Answer no, I mean at some point I
• 9:20
told him that would he have talked to me about
• 9:23
leaving and go do venture capital That would have to
• 9:26
happen fairly quickly, because Melinda and I agreed that he
• 9:29
should leave my employee. Question your discussion in person or
• 9:33
over email with doctor Nikolich about his departure, were they,
• 9:36
in your view, generally cordial or was it a contentious interaction? Answer? Well,
• 9:42
there's two times. There's the time before he involves Epstein,
• 9:46
where I would say there were cordial, then he sort
• 9:48
of seedes to Epstein and Epstein. You know, none of
• 9:51
the stuff of this came up an email, but at
• 9:53
most he made vel threats like we should have remained friends.
• 9:57
But I chose not to change the exit offer that
• 10:00
I made, and I made it clear that I would
• 10:02
bear whatever disclosures came out of our failure to reach
• 10:05
a fair exit agreement. Question. So, over the course of
• 10:08
you not being willing to change your position, things may
• 10:11
have gotten a little bit more contentious between gets caught
• 10:15
off by Bill Gates, not with doctor Nikolch. But you know,
• 10:18
Epstein actually came out to Seattle one time during these discussions,
• 10:21
and you know, it was weird because I said, you know,
• 10:25
I got an offer that treats them fairly, and if
• 10:27
you here to ask for more than that, I'm not
• 10:29
changing it. And in fact I did not change it.
• 10:32
We reached the agreement and Nikolitch left my employee question.
• 10:37
We'll get into that meeting in Seattle in a little while. However,
• 10:40
I'll note for you now that it seems to have
• 10:42
occurred on August eighth, twenty thirteen. This email is from
• 10:46
July eighteenth, twenty thirteen, so this email seems to pre
• 10:50
date whatever that meeting was. I'm just trying to understand,
• 10:54
you know, maybe it was strongly worded an email, maybe
• 10:56
it was something in person, But when did the contentious
• 10:59
nature of the interactions with doctor Nikolch or mister Epstein arise? Answer?
• 11:05
There was never any contentious nature with doctor nikolic And
• 11:08
it's hard to characterize the Epstein stuff because there was
• 11:11
never a direct threat of any kind. There was always
• 11:14
this veld language like we should remain friends, you know,
• 11:17
which made me wonder what doctor Nikolach had shared with them.
• 11:20
But as I said, I responded to all of that
• 11:23
with a great deal of clarity. You can introduce that
• 11:25
email or not. Question. So the portion that I just
• 11:29
read it also makes reference to the fact that you
• 11:32
The email says that you implored me to please delete
• 11:35
the emails regarding your STD, and your request that I
• 11:38
provide you antibiotics that you can surreptitiously give Melinda, and
• 11:42
the description of your penis. Did you ever tell doctor
• 11:44
Nikolicch to delete emails? In general? Answer? I did not.
• 11:48
Question did you ever send doctor Nikolch an email that
• 11:52
included the three things I just described? Answer? I never
• 11:55
had an STD. I'd never described my penis to doctor Nikolch.
• 11:59
What's the one I've said? I may have indicated some
• 12:02
concern about whether I had an STD. I don't recall that,
• 12:06
but I never had an STD. I never gave medicine
• 12:09
to anyone covertly. Question and just for the record, during
• 12:13
the time you were concerned that you might have an infection,
• 12:16
did you ever discuss or consider surreptitiously giving antibiotics to
• 12:20
your then wife? Answer? I did not. All right, folks,
• 12:25
we're going to wrap up right here, and then the
• 12:27
next episode dealing with the topic, we're going to pick
• 12:29
up where we left off. All the information that goes
• 12:32
with this episode can be found in the description box.
