- 0:08SPEAKER_00: Hey my friend, welcome to this episode of the Daily Writer Podcast.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: Today is the fourth entry in our mini-series on dealing with rejection.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: One of the biggest paradoxes of feeling hurt is that everybody experiences it, but when you're going through it, you feel totally alone.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: And this happens to every great writer, leader, and artist.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Edison, Walt Disney, and Steve Jobs all faced rejection and failure at some point in their lives.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: But they persisted.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: They were resilient.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: They had the right attitude, and they kept at it until their dreams became a reality.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: Did you really think that success was going to come so easily?
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: Not a chance.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: The trials that you're going through now are shaping and molding you for something greater that's going to happen down the road.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: But you won't be able to handle that success later on unless you're ready for it.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: So if you can't properly handle the times now when you feel down or frustrated or rejected, you're not going to be able to handle the times later on when you're on top and when you have more success and more responsibility.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Both of those experiences, being on top as well as feeling low, both of those experiences call for discipline, focus, and persistence.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: They're really not so different.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Abraham Lincoln would have never been able to handle the pressure of being president if he hadn't gone through all the trials and rejection of his younger years.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: In the same way, the things you're going through today are preparing you for tomorrow.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: So pay attention and get focused, because guess what?
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Your big day is just around the corner.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: Here's today's question.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: Think about a trial or some rejection that you're going through right now, and how might that be preparing you for what lies ahead?
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: Thanks so much for listening to today's episode.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: If you've been listening to this show for any length of time, you know that one of the four practices of a great writer is creativity.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: And in order to stay creative, you've got to have great input.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: And that's where writing prompts come in.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: A writing prompt is a sentence or two that helps you break through creative blocks, brainstorm new ideas, and get back into a state of flow.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Writing prompts are an awesome creative tool for journaling, storytelling, creative writing, stress relief, social media posts, and so much more.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: But the great news is that you don't have to create these yourself.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: We've put together an amazing package of 365 daily writing prompts.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: So every day for the next year, you can have a shot of inspiration delivered straight to your inbox.
