- 0:01Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to Jason Land. To con my name
- 0:18Speaker 1: is Jason Land. This is let Me Put you to
- 0:23Speaker 1: Sleep and Whisper, ironically both my most popular recordings and
- 0:35Speaker 1: my least popular recordings.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Yeay, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, yeah.
- 1:05Speaker 1: See this is Whisper Monday. Yes, Monday again, Monday don't
- 1:16Speaker 1: have come around quickly. So I'd just like to say
- 1:24Speaker 1: a big thank you to all the well wishes on
- 1:28Speaker 1: my Facebook page. Thank you, and also address a few
- 1:44Speaker 1: moons about me doing the Whisper recordings. Just let you
- 1:51Speaker 1: know this, these Whisper Mondays and Whisper Tuesdays and Whisper
- 1:59Speaker 1: Wednesday is they're not replacing anything. It's an additional thing.
- 2:09Speaker 1: So it's I think it's I've been doing this. It's
- 2:23Speaker 1: kind of the first thing in the morning I wake up,
- 2:33Speaker 1: I do we we, and I make a recording. Now
- 2:47Speaker 1: because of the time whispering, it's the only time really
- 2:53Speaker 1: that I can do any kind of whisper stuff. And
- 3:08Speaker 1: when I do wake up in the morning, I'm kind
- 3:11Speaker 1: of like a different person to how I am later
- 3:14Speaker 1: in the day. I was thinking about this before I
- 3:19Speaker 1: made the recording, and I'm sure how to explain it
- 3:25Speaker 1: really I can't believe my voice gets croaky when I'm whispering.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Really Okay, I can't do it again. But I suppose
- 3:41Speaker 1: this is just I don't know. I don't know if
- 3:45Speaker 1: I'm going to do these regularly. I just happened to
- 3:50Speaker 1: have done one for a few days in a row.
- 3:57Speaker 1: But my intention is to get back to a degree
- 4:02Speaker 1: of normality and do the let me put you to
- 4:13Speaker 1: sleep recordings like I was doing them, you know, Monday's
- 4:18Speaker 1: boring Objects, trivia, Tuesday Day, Friday, Saturday Summary, maybe even
- 4:27Speaker 1: Sunday's papers. Maybe we shall st see how things go today.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Over the last few weeks, I kind of yeah, my
- 5:03Speaker 1: my consistency lacked someone and didn't and I still have
- 5:13Speaker 1: made recordings during this period. But there's been periods of
- 5:19Speaker 1: time where I didn't do anything, and I'm kind of
- 5:26Speaker 1: surprised I'm still making recordings right now, but I seem
- 5:37Speaker 1: to wanna do it, so I go go. Had a
- 5:46Speaker 1: strange dream last night that I was seeing this in
- 6:00Speaker 1: this situation where everybody was related to me, and I
- 6:14Speaker 1: was trying to comfort a female uh relative, I don't know,
- 6:25Speaker 1: sister or whatever, and none of it made sense, not really.
- 6:51Speaker 1: There was a speed boat. There was a bloke the man,
- 7:00Speaker 1: I don't know who. He was just trying to remember
- 7:11Speaker 1: bits of the train. I think my downstairs neighbor just
- 7:23Speaker 1: farted really loudly. Honestly, I just said, like a big vibration,
- 7:38Speaker 1: like a little drop in in set off, that's funny, brilliant,
- 7:53Speaker 1: say hm. The weekend was a bit boring, to be honest.
- 8:09Speaker 1: There's no boxing, I know, nothing really, just went a
- 8:21Speaker 1: bit early both nights. I think it was a bit
- 8:24Speaker 1: by eight o'clock both Friday and no Saturday, no Friday
- 8:31Speaker 1: Saturday and Sunday night. So now I'm lot going on.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Yesterday I did a recording on grief, and I was
- 8:59Speaker 1: re recording this recording as you do. It was in
- 9:05Speaker 1: the afternoon, and all I could hear was screaming in
- 9:11Speaker 1: the garden, just shouting and screaming kids and adults. Like
- 9:21Speaker 1: I was getting mildly wound up. I don't ask for much,
- 9:27Speaker 1: just a little bit of piece, just especially when I'm
- 9:31Speaker 1: making a recording. So I stopped talking in a garb
- 9:37Speaker 1: and I moved or what pretty much all of my
- 9:41Speaker 1: books from my bookcase. I've got three bookcases, and I
- 9:47Speaker 1: moved them onto the window sill and pretty much filled
- 9:52Speaker 1: up most of the gap where the window is, and
- 10:01Speaker 1: it seemed to be it's done quite a good job
- 10:05Speaker 1: of soundproofing the room from the screaming kids. It's like, wow,
- 10:22Speaker 1: it seems to be overkill though, to be fair, because
- 10:25Speaker 1: I'm looking at it, it's just like it looks a
- 10:28Speaker 1: bit missy. It looks like a modern piece of art,
- 10:33Speaker 1: something you might have seen in an art gallery. We
- 10:40Speaker 1: know what artists. It's weird, but it's definitely I mean,
- 10:50Speaker 1: it's quiet now anyway. I mean, if you listen to
- 11:03Speaker 1: the beginning of yesterday's recording, the Grief one, you can
- 11:10Speaker 1: actually squeaky screaming over there, and it's just too loud.
- 11:28Speaker 1: It's just too inf for me. It's just a little
- 11:31Speaker 1: bit too loud, and it's constant conscious and it's yeah,
- 11:43Speaker 1: I know I'm moaning, but it is a little bit
- 11:46Speaker 1: too much sometimes and make make that my voice really
- 11:58Speaker 1: get making making recordings is something that it's all I've
- 12:16Speaker 1: got there, anything that I do, and it's so I
- 12:33Speaker 1: need to be able to have that sense of quiet. Now.
- 12:51Speaker 1: There is a way around it, and I'm thinking about
- 12:56Speaker 1: working my way in that way is to keep my
- 13:02Speaker 1: table out of the storage room, but any other side,
- 13:13Speaker 1: the other side of the Yeah, but on the other
- 13:20Speaker 1: side of the room, and then start using the other
- 13:26Speaker 1: microphone a gang because that doesn't pick up so much
- 13:31Speaker 1: sound from outside, so I might do that instead. I
- 13:54Speaker 1: don't know, I'm not sure. I'm just trying to get
- 14:08Speaker 1: touch with how I feel.
- 14:14Speaker 3: I feel okay, Yeah, I'm all right, I.
- 14:31Speaker 4: Feel all right, Yeah, not much going on. Wes feeling dope,
- 14:57Speaker 4: be strained.
- 15:01Speaker 1: I got them.
- 15:01Speaker 5: Closed, feeling properly, that would be hungry.
- 15:44Speaker 1: I'm still trying to remember that dream I come remember. No,
- 16:30Speaker 1: it's gone good to mad. I was a little bit
- 16:38Speaker 1: restless last night to start with.
- 16:59Speaker 6: M hmm, I get quite easily, just fell back to sleep,
- 17:40Speaker 6: which just shows there's not much going on inside of
- 17:43Speaker 6: my brain right now.
- 17:49Speaker 1: No change that A right, M right, right, umber Right then,
- 18:21Speaker 1: He's been good. It's the fast asleep on the bed.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Take quite a lot to wake him up. Once he's gone,
- 18:36Speaker 1: he's gone, like really it's a very deep sleep. But
- 18:40Speaker 1: once he's falls asleep, it just reminds me. There's been
- 18:55Speaker 1: times when I've kind of tried to wake him up,
- 18:58Speaker 1: just like playing, you know, clicking my fingers and doing
- 19:04Speaker 1: a little dance or nothing. It reminds me it was
- 19:09Speaker 1: a TV that answer. It's a movie called What About Bob?
- 19:15Speaker 1: With what's his name? It's the the actor that was
- 19:38Speaker 1: in Groundhog Day, Bill Murray? What About Bob? So he's
- 19:48Speaker 1: if I'm correct, he's a psychiatric patient and he goes
- 19:56Speaker 1: and visits his psychiatrist, who his Richard Dreyfus. That's a
- 20:01Speaker 1: lot of information that's in my head. And he stays over,
- 20:08Speaker 1: I might get I might have this wrong. There's this
- 20:11Speaker 1: one scene where Richard Traces is trying to wake him
- 20:18Speaker 1: up and he's yelling, he's passion, symbols together, drums, you know,
- 20:33Speaker 1: all kinds of things. Nothing. Nothing's waking Bob or Bill Murray.
- 20:43Speaker 1: And he's doing this for like a few minutes, and
- 20:46Speaker 1: there's a whole scared really where he's showing him different
- 20:52Speaker 1: ways trying to wake up Bob. And at the end
- 20:59Speaker 1: of it was lying there and his alarm clock goes
- 21:04Speaker 1: off diddddd did and he just wakes up, yawns that says,
- 21:12Speaker 1: good morning. It's very funny. I've burnt it, really haven't
- 21:18Speaker 1: I if you haven't seen it, But it's an old
- 21:22Speaker 1: movie from probably in the nineties and so on. He
- 21:29Speaker 1: said a while back, might have be the eighties. What
- 21:36Speaker 1: about Bob It's called Richard RAFs and Bill Murray. Yeah,
- 21:52Speaker 1: it was good. I was another scene that's a different movie,
- 22:10Speaker 1: but there's a couple of I just remember rewinding the
- 22:19Speaker 1: videotape because the comedy clip called me off guard and
- 22:25Speaker 1: made me laugh so hard that I had to go
- 22:29Speaker 1: back and rewatch it. That was one of those one.
- 22:34Speaker 1: That's one clip I kept rewinding because it was so funny.
- 22:42Speaker 1: And the second one. Another one was Gene Wilder. Jeene
- 22:59Speaker 1: Wilder was in his movie and he's standing outside the
- 23:03Speaker 1: door with this big mentioned house thing and this lady
- 23:14Speaker 1: kisses him on the lips and Gene Wilder looks disgusted
- 23:24Speaker 1: and he rubs his lips, screams and runs away. It's
- 23:33Speaker 1: very funny. I just I just found hilarious. I remember
- 23:38Speaker 1: rewinding that because they caught me off guard. That did
- 23:43Speaker 1: not expect that. As Jeane Wilder was, I think he's
- 23:54Speaker 1: one of the greatest comedy actors. As something as they say,
- 24:02Speaker 1: funny bones he had. It's so funny. It was that
- 24:11Speaker 1: obliviousness almost that look in his eyes, like wasn't quite
- 24:19Speaker 1: sure what was going on around him. But I think
- 24:28Speaker 1: people like him if you love his movies, his comedy movies,
- 24:38Speaker 1: possibly avoid watching any interviews that he did because he
- 24:43Speaker 1: wasn't the person. He was very serious, and you know
- 24:49Speaker 1: he wasn't. I know, he obviously he lost that person
- 24:54Speaker 1: because he's an actor, but I quite like the idea
- 24:58Speaker 1: of him being that person. Just you know, if you
- 25:03Speaker 1: see Jim Carrey being interviewed, he's all serious these days.
- 25:14Speaker 1: But then you get some some entertainers or comedy actors,
- 25:19Speaker 1: and they liked, I don't know, they're just naturally funny,
- 25:35Speaker 1: if that makes sense. I met a few comedians like that,
- 25:48Speaker 1: some which is really funny people off and on stage.
- 26:01Speaker 1: I don't think I ever saw any of the really
- 26:03Speaker 1: funny ones make it successfully. But the ones that were
- 26:12Speaker 1: funny off stage, it's it's almost it's which is quite strange.
- 26:23Speaker 1: But the ones that were really funny on the stage
- 26:25Speaker 1: were just I don't know, it's hard to explain it.
- 26:32Speaker 7: They weren't like that when they were off off the stage.
- 26:41Speaker 1: I suppose I could double identity. Perhaps, I suppose also
- 27:00Speaker 1: those comedians that are successful when they're doing the clubs
- 27:11Speaker 1: and they're you know, doing the different comedy clubs. They're
- 27:18Speaker 1: probably tired but being funny and they need a break
- 27:24Speaker 1: from it, especially if they doing maybe two, three, maybe
- 27:32Speaker 1: four kicks in one night at the weekend. The probably
- 27:41Speaker 1: last thing they want to do is tell jokes when
- 27:44Speaker 1: they're not on stage. Yeah, although I did get a
- 28:07Speaker 1: lift with Ricky Crow for once. This is before I
- 28:12Speaker 1: knew who he was, and he did his character Buller
- 28:18Speaker 1: the whole way. So he came. He lived in a
- 28:22Speaker 1: sports Girl from the comedy club, probably about ninety four
- 28:30Speaker 1: and maybe ninety five, and he gave me a lived
- 28:40Speaker 1: to Stratford. I don't know where he lived. I think
- 28:43Speaker 1: he lived in Bow or Canning Town or something like that.
- 28:50Speaker 1: And I didn't realize it was I've not seen his act.
- 28:56Speaker 1: And there was the Buller where he plays his character
- 28:59Speaker 1: called and he did that the whole journey. It was
- 29:04Speaker 1: very funny, but he was just player, you know, a character.
- 29:19Speaker 1: I think my favorite comedy character now is Alan Bartridge.
- 29:30Speaker 1: I've decided. I've made my decision, and Alan Bartridge is
- 29:35Speaker 1: just so funny, all annoyances, and I guess they haven't
- 29:46Speaker 1: followed him for decades. Seeing the way the character's developed,
- 30:01Speaker 1: it's so good. Now. I don't know how well known
- 30:06Speaker 1: Alan Bartridge is outside of the UK, and I don't
- 30:14Speaker 1: know how. I don't know. I don't know how understandable
- 30:26Speaker 1: the character would be, because it's the character's funny on
- 30:32Speaker 1: different levels. It's funny in itself, but also it's kind
- 30:40Speaker 1: of made fun of a lot of not just I
- 30:45Speaker 1: suppose the radio d Jase that then went on to
- 30:47Speaker 1: TV and did chat shows and stuff like that, and
- 30:53Speaker 1: he he's got some of those mannerisms and yeah, it's
- 31:05Speaker 1: such a great character. Pre certain that Steve Coogan, who
- 31:16Speaker 1: is the actor the place Alan Bartridge, probably gets completely
- 31:26Speaker 1: fed up we're doing that character at times and wishes
- 31:36Speaker 1: that one of his other characters was as popular. But
- 31:45Speaker 1: he's his audience has grown up with him and he
- 31:58Speaker 1: can keep that character. I mean is he'd probably be
- 32:04Speaker 1: about sixty now, maybe late fifties. He's older than me,
- 32:12Speaker 1: just probably not by much, maybe five years since he
- 32:19Speaker 1: had let's say sixty, so he might be able to
- 32:23Speaker 1: do that Karen him for another twenty years, Dear. One
- 32:28Speaker 1: of my favorite roles that Steve Kirgan was in was
- 32:35Speaker 1: when he did Laura Lenardi, Laura. What was it called.
- 32:44Speaker 1: I can't remember the name of the movie. I think
- 32:48Speaker 1: it might just been their first names, Stanham, Lawrence, Oliver,
- 33:00Speaker 1: stand and Oliver. I think it was Yeah, stand and
- 33:05Speaker 1: Oliver and Steve Cookan played the skinny one Laura and
- 33:18Speaker 1: Nardi Hardi was the bigger one on the Laurel Stan Lowers.
- 33:22Speaker 1: He played Stan. He even had his eyes. I mean,
- 33:30Speaker 1: he's always had his eyes, but that was strange because
- 33:36Speaker 1: he had the same eyes. He has the same eyes
- 33:39Speaker 1: as Stan Laurel, which makes me think that he possibly
- 33:53Speaker 1: wanted to play that character, that role plays Stan Laurel
- 34:00Speaker 1: for a long time because he knew he looked like him.
- 34:07Speaker 1: That was a really good movie as well. It's really
- 34:16Speaker 1: just about their relationship, their friendship, and you know, kind
- 34:26Speaker 1: of the last part of their lives together. I suppose
- 34:43Speaker 1: Stan Laurel was a little bit a little bit like
- 34:47Speaker 1: Benny Hill is. His life was about working and in
- 34:57Speaker 1: the same way that Benny Hill used to. But he
- 35:03Speaker 1: used to write jokes when he was home, even though
- 35:07Speaker 1: he was on television anymore. The thing is now not
- 35:12Speaker 1: being on television wouldn't have made a difference to him,
- 35:16Speaker 1: because he could have just done his own YouTube channel
- 35:19Speaker 1: into his own stuff, and he wouldn't have needed he
- 35:23Speaker 1: wouldn't have been restricted by television. Plus he was wealthy
- 35:32Speaker 1: and he was popular in America, which makes me wonder
- 35:37Speaker 1: why didn't America give him a TV show? But he
- 35:51Speaker 1: used to be writing jokes all the time, and I
- 35:58Speaker 1: think Laurel was the same. I was writing, it's a
- 36:07Speaker 1: bit chilly in here today, a little bit chilly much
- 36:13Speaker 1: that window is open. To open the window because it
- 36:17Speaker 1: was stuff here with all those books in a way,
- 36:21Speaker 1: which is weird. I wouldn't afford it made too much difference,
- 36:26Speaker 1: but I guess so many years getting through even window
- 36:30Speaker 1: windows are closed. Yeah, I'm not sure what to do
- 36:40Speaker 1: about those books being there, A little bit concerned that
- 36:45Speaker 1: if one falced, a lot of fault. But it's a
- 36:50Speaker 1: lot of books, like a heavy load of books. That's
- 36:54Speaker 1: probably so probably doesn't weigh as much as me, but
- 37:04Speaker 1: maybe it does. I don't think so. Yeah, I wouldn't
- 37:11Speaker 1: be able to if you condensed all those books into
- 37:15Speaker 1: like a compact weight. I'm not sure what struggle to
- 37:22Speaker 1: lift it. I don't know, maybe not, But then I
- 37:34Speaker 1: think in some of the books are quite heavy, and
- 37:38Speaker 1: this I don't know two hundred books maybe more so
- 37:46Speaker 1: I try to count them one.
- 37:48Speaker 7: Two, three, four or five, six, seven, eight, ninety even
- 37:54Speaker 7: until thirteen fourteen, fifteen sixty, and I don't do anyone
- 37:59Speaker 7: twenty fight, twenty four, twenty five, twenty six, twenty seven,
- 38:03Speaker 7: twenty eight, twenty.
- 38:04Speaker 8: Nine, thirty thirty one, thirty, thirty six, thirty seventh, thirty eight, ninety, forty,
- 38:12Speaker 8: forty one, forty day, forty three, forty four, forty five,
- 38:15Speaker 8: forty six.
- 38:17Speaker 1: Forty seven, forty eight, forty ninety fifty two, und five
- 38:21Speaker 1: fifty five six, sixteen one to probably two hundred and fifty.
- 38:45Speaker 1: So I think my plan for to day is just
- 39:02Speaker 1: have some breakfast, have a cup of tea, then aimed
- 39:17Speaker 1: do Monday's boring objects, and maybe donacis recording as well
- 39:31Speaker 1: later on and outside of that, nothing on else.
- 39:45Speaker 9: Really, nothing really going on, So I'm kind, Thank you
- 40:11Speaker 9: for listening.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Remember to be kind to yourself because you do deserve
- 40:19Speaker 1: to be happy, bitch into it yourself, You deserve to
- 40:29Speaker 1: feel safe. Lots of love. Bye,
