- 0:43[SPEAKER_01]: And today the theme is this.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_01]: The thought is the Bible.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: God's Word.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_01]: God's Holy Word is not a meal replacement shake.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_01]: What you're about to hear is myself me.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_01]: I've got a little bit of a froggy voice in the recording.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_01]: You're about to hear I spoke on this subject on my home church.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it'd be a blessing to share with our radio audience as well.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_01]: If we're going to be the evangelist, I mean, if we're going to carry gospel tracks, we're going to reach a lost and dying world.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_01]: We've got to make sure our craving spiritually speaking line up with and for God's Word.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: That's why we're talking about this today and all this week.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Ash Guita.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_01]: Listen in, listen in, technically, as we discuss the fact that the Bible is not a meal replacement.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: Shake, I preach this message at my home church, not long ago.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: I pray it's a blessing to you as you listen now.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: We see blessed as the man that will say no.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_01]: Verse two, but his delight is in the law of the Lord.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: And then our second point, and in his law, doth he meditate day and night.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: See, this is not just speaking about devotions.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: This is speaking about a strong desire, a meditation that you think of chewing the cut.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's something you've got to hold on to for just a little while.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_01]: You can't just take it once.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to run it past yourself again.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: See, I found, at least from my life, I'll often treat reading the Bible, or the Todd, as if it's like a meal replacement shaken a diet.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: See, God's word is not a diet to be tried out so you can get your summer spiritual body, your spiritual summer body.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's not what we're looking for.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: This is a lifestyle.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_01]: Delighting in God's word is not something we try to go on this spiritual crash diets so that we can spiritually lose the flap of sin and all the while
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: We're not changing our lifestyle.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_01]: We're just, well, I've got, I'm gonna go from no Bible to reading twenty five chapters a day because I got a washer.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_01]: No, you might need to go back to verse number one and stop walking with standing with sitting with some certain things.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_01]: You have to put the junk away so you can actually have a delight and a desire
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: For God's Word, Joshua one eight says, this book of law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but that shall meditate there in day and night.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_01]: This is not a meal replacement shake that you have early in the morning to curb your cravings until noon, and then you have two meals full of junk and a couple of snacks in between.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm speaking about the earthly things, the carnal things that we put in our eye gate and our ear gate.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: Speaking about what I spoke about on Sunday, you can't read two chapters of the Bible in the morning and then infatuate yourself with this the rest of the day and expect your spiritual health level to rise.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_01]: I say, you can't outrun physically speaking, you can't outrun a bad diet.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: What that means is, I'm telling you, I've tried all right, I've tried.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_01]: You ever been there, you think, I'll just have, I'll just have fourteen pieces of pizza.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_01]: I'll go, I'll go run in the morning.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'll do it.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't work like that.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: You can't have it doesn't donuts all by your onesie.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: And think you're going to be able to walk it off on the elliptical because those numbers are the calorie counters.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_01]: They count up real slow on that elliptical.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: They go up much faster in the form of donuts I found.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_01]: And you know what?
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's incredible.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_01]: You think about it.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: All it takes is one, two, three, five, a dozen Oreos, and you're well over your calorie limit for the day, right?
- 4:47[SPEAKER_01]: How many reels do you think it takes to count?
- 4:51[SPEAKER_01]: How many chapters of the Bible do you think it's going to have to count or act those fifteen-second reels?
- 4:58[SPEAKER_01]: The good thing always comes slow, where it's always harder.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: We know that.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_01]: But so why is it that we choose the, the carnal Psalm one nineteen ninety seven, another verse from Psalm one nineteen.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, how I love that law.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_01]: It is my meditation all the day.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_01]: We're looking for meditation, not malnourishment.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_01]: Delight desire, look at verse number three, and he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: I want you to notice the depth that this kind of man will have.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: See, something that's planted, my girls, I think, went over to maybe Miss Hillary's to there, so only that happened in the garden.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: And those onions, I heard those onions and radishes.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_01]: And what else we have watermelon and other things?
- 5:56[SPEAKER_01]: They came home telling me about, they want pets now.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: They think hamsters are just wonderful.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_01]: We're not getting a pampheter.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: You can name a hamster cheesecake all you want.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'm still not getting a hamster.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: It sounds cute.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not getting one.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: But you know what?
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: Those plants was Hillary.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't end up in the ground on accident.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: They were planted on purpose weren't they?
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: It took some work.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_01]: The girls put so much work into it, they had to have a bath and they got home because they made sure the work got all over them, right?
- 6:25[SPEAKER_01]: He should be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, but tanically or horticultureally speaking of planting and things, trees near water grow deeper and stronger roots.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_01]: And as you may well imagine, are usually much more drought resistant because they have a ready source of water nearby.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: Why would you choose to plant yourself anywhere else except near the river of the water of life?
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_01]: Colossians, two seven talks about being rooted and built up in him.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_01]: Very quickly, would you turn over the book of Ezra Ezra Nehemiah?
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: We were in, I think, Daniel on Sunday.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to show you another minor profit Ezra chapter seven for just a moment
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: Ezra chapter seven, if you stick with me here, we look at verse number one, Ezra, first of all, I'm going to prove to you, from the life of Ezra, the results of
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: being rooted in built up in Christ in God's Word.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_01]: As our seven verse one now, after these things in the reign of Arctic Xerxes King of Persia, Ezra, the son of Saraya.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: So we're introduced to him here, and we'll skip the genealogies here.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: We go to verse number six.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_01]: This Ezra went up from Babylon, and he was already scribe.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_01]: in the law of Moses.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: That was God's Word that he had at that time, which the Lord God of Israel had given, and get this the King granted him.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: All his requests, according to the hand of the Lord, his God upon him.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: He had the preference of the leader.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: And there went up some of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nettenhams, and the Jerusalem, and the seventh year of August, the King, and he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the King.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: Four, and we're going to be in the first nine and ten, for upon the first day of the first month.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: began to go up from Babylon.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: And on the first day of the fifth month came He to Jerusalem, according to the hand, good hand of His God upon Him, He had a preference of the leader.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: He had prosperity from the Lord.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_01]: For Ezra had prepared His heart to seek the law of the Lord and to do it.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_01]: into teaching Israel, statutes and judgments, the preference of the leader, prosperity from the Lord all came about because of his proficiency and preparation in the law.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: God blesses those that love his book.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: Blessed is the man that doesn't do these things.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in his law, death he meditate day and night, in verse number three of Psalm one, we're back there for just a moment, and he shall be like a tree, planted by the rivers of water.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_01]: The fruitfulness followed in the fervor.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: That bring a fourth, look at verse number three, he should be like a tree playing about the rivers of water, that bring a fourth his fruit in his season.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_01]: I'm glad to tell you because oftentimes I feel like I should be doing more.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: You ever been there before?
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: You look back on the day, you look back on the week and you think, what have I been doing?
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: Why is there nothing to show for it?
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: Fruitfulness is not instant, it's seasonal.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_01]: Oftentimes, we feel like we're laboring, and we are just absolutely slaving away, whether it's with your children, whether it's related to your bus route, whether it's with work, your church, whatever it may be, and you're wondering, God, what is going on here?
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: Well, if a farmer threw his hands up every day of the year that it wasn't harvest time, he'd be throwing his hands up from most of the year, wouldn't he?
- 10:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's not a harvest time every day.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: It was a whole lot of planting and watering.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: Miss Hillary, you're not going to go back out to the garden tomorrow and expect onions.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's not how it works.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_01]: Bring it forth as fruit in his season.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: But when you have discipline, that's the word, that bring it forth as fruit in his season, you'll understand that spiritual maturity takes time, care, and consistency.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: It is not about results on demand.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: But rewards through discipline, Galatians, chapter six, and verse nine says, in due season, we shall reap if we faint not in John fifteen five.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_01]: He that abideeth in me, and I in him the same, bringeth fourth much fruit.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_01]: The fruit, understand the fruit might be for others, but you should contend yourself with your walk with God, because you're planning by the river is a water.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: We want the fruit all the time.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_01]: We want to enjoy the fruit.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_01]: Enjoy the fact that you're by the rivers of water constantly.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: God's Creek has never run dry.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: His river has never gone.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_01]: How to drought.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_01]: He's always there.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: So, continue self with that.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_01]: Do you enjoy your walk with God?
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: Do you?
- 12:10[SPEAKER_01]: If you don't, maybe it's because there's too much junk in the way.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder if you know that song, nothing between my soul and the Savior.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_01]: Could you sing that song legitimately today?
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: Nothing between my soul and Savior, not of this world's delusive dream.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: I have renounced all sinful pleasure.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_01]: Jesus is mine.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_01]: There's nothing.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_01]: We too.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_01]: Now rarely do series that I do go over two weeks, but we're doing it this time of
