Transcript
- 0:10Speaker 1: Welcome to Meat Eater Trivia, the only game show where
- 0:13Speaker 1: conservation always wins. There is a prize. Meat Eater will
- 0:17Speaker 1: donate $ 500 to the conservation organization of the winner's choosing.
- 0:22Speaker 1: I'm your host, Randall Williams. And today we're joined by Brody, Jordan, Omar, Corey, Logan,
- 0:30Speaker 1: and Giannis. This is a 10-round quiz show with questions
- 0:33Speaker 1: from meat eaters for Verticals, loosely, which are hunting, fishing, conservation,
- 0:39Speaker 1: and cooking. Meat Eater Trivia is brought to you by
- 0:42Speaker 1: one of our favorite beers, Bush Light. Bush Light. Head
- 0:46Speaker 1: for the mountains.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Was that pause so that I could ask you why
- 0:49Speaker 2: you put me at the bottom of the list?
- 0:51Speaker 3: Because he was doing it in a circle.
- 0:53Speaker 4: Which is the order I wish Spencer would do it
- 0:54Speaker 4: in because that's how I need to cut the camera.
- 0:56Speaker 1: It makes a ton of sense for just production purposes.
- 0:58Speaker 2: So thank you, Randall. I will do that in the future.
- 1:01Speaker 1: When Spencer is here next time, you should suggest that
- 1:03Speaker 1: to him. I don't want to do it because it
- 1:05Speaker 1: would seem egotistical, but you should just point out that
- 1:07Speaker 1: Randall had a really good way of doing this.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Spencer plays favorites.
- 1:11Speaker 1: I don't know where Spencer is right now. I text
- 1:13Speaker 1: him earlier.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Antelope hunting.
- 1:15Speaker 1: In the snow. Well, today we have an IFAQ. Here's
- 1:21Speaker 1: our infrequently asked questions segment. If you have a trivia
- 1:25Speaker 1: related question for our crew, send it to trivia at
- 1:28Speaker 1: themeateater.com with the subject line IFAQ. Andrew M. asks, if
- 1:36Speaker 1: you were buying one rifle, parentheses, cartridge, action, any features
- 1:40Speaker 1: you would recommend, close parentheses, To be used for Midwest
- 1:44Speaker 1: whitetails and black bear, along with being able to do pronghorn,
- 1:47Speaker 1: what would it be and why? Looking to buy my
- 1:50Speaker 1: first rifle and want one to be able to cover
- 1:52Speaker 1: multiple species would mostly be used for whitetails, but my
- 1:55Speaker 1: two other species I hope to harvest would be pronghorn
- 1:58Speaker 1: and black bear. And we have Jordan Sillars here.
- 2:02Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm the expert on this.
- 2:06Speaker 1: And after we cover the question, Maybe we can do
- 2:09Speaker 1: a little plug for what you have going on.
- 2:11Speaker 5: Oh, sure.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Let's go around the room here.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Maybe you should offer up two and we could have
- 2:15Speaker 2: sort of a battle.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Over the caliber.
- 2:18Speaker 1: That's an interesting format.
- 2:21Speaker 3: I think I'd just go with a good quality, not
- 2:24Speaker 3: super expensive bolt action. Something like a Model 70 or
- 2:31Speaker 3: something like that. And 270 Winchester.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Old school.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Old school.
- 2:37Speaker 3: But it does everything.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Classic round. Does everything fine.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Would you have a threaded muzzle on it?
- 2:42Speaker 2: Definitely.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Well, these days you have to, right?
- 2:45Speaker 1: Don't act mad about it. That's neat.
- 2:48Speaker 3: No, I think pretty much all the new ones come
- 2:50Speaker 3: with a threaded barrel.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Just 20 minutes ago in the car, he was praising
- 2:55Speaker 2: shooting with a suppressor. That was as much fun as
- 2:58Speaker 2: the sun is having.
- 2:59Speaker 1: So nice. Jordan, thoughts?
- 3:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Bolt action.
- 3:03Speaker 3: 6.5 Creedmoor.
- 3:06Speaker 5: I think that's going to serve you well. It's not
- 3:09Speaker 5: going to recoil too much. And with a suppressor, very pleasant.
- 3:13Speaker 5: Very pleasant to shoot.
- 3:14Speaker 1: I think it'll shoot itself.
- 3:15Speaker 5: Yeah, pretty much.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Hopefully not. Corey, Logan, Omar, let's bat this one around.
- 3:21Speaker 1: 6.5 PRC. A little more muscle.
- 3:24Speaker 2: I like that one.
- 3:24Speaker 1: How about the. 308?
- 3:25Speaker 4: Oh, jeez.
- 3:27Speaker 6: I personally love 6.5 PRCs. One thing I did just
- 3:30Speaker 6: learn about that was barrel life. And I didn't realize how,
- 3:33Speaker 6: not that I'm like shooting that many rounds, but like
- 3:35Speaker 6: something with like a. 308, you have so many more
- 3:37Speaker 6: rounds you can shoot through that thing. Like the usable
- 3:39Speaker 6: life of that barrel.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Is- Realistically though, how many rounds do you shoot a year? 40.
- 3:46Speaker 5: How often do you clean your gun?
- 3:47Speaker 6: Probably like 200.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Really? That's better than I thought. I mean, no offense,
- 3:53Speaker 1: but that's, yeah.
- 3:54Speaker 2: That's still way above average.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Way to go. I find that typically you'll see people
- 4:01Speaker 1: say that if you're worried about replacing barrels, you're spending
- 4:04Speaker 1: so much money on ammunition and reloading components that the
- 4:09Speaker 1: barrel's sort of an afterthought. You really have to, unless
- 4:13Speaker 1: you're shooting like a 7mm.
- 4:13Speaker 2: 338 Norma.
- 4:18Speaker 1: All right, have we done enough with this one, you guys?
- 4:21Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I think this guy knows exactly what to
- 4:23Speaker 2: get now.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I don't think you need to overthink it. I don't
- 4:25Speaker 1: think you need to overthink it. Just go real simple.
- 4:27Speaker 2: That's right.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Easy to find cartridge. And yeah, learn about bullet construction. Jordan.
- 4:35Speaker 5: Yes. So I wanted to let everyone know that Blood
- 4:40Speaker 5: Trails Season 3 is out now. So Blood Trails, if anyone...
- 4:47Speaker 5: hasn't had a chance to listen yet. Um, it's a
- 4:49Speaker 5: true crime podcast about hunters and anglers and people outside. So, uh,
- 4:54Speaker 5: we cover a different story each episode. We talk with, uh,
- 4:58Speaker 5: as many people who were involved as we'll talk with
- 5:00Speaker 5: us and, uh, we do a great job putting it together. So, um, yeah,
- 5:05Speaker 5: if you haven't had a chance, check it out. First
- 5:06Speaker 5: episode should be out now. Um, it's about a kid
- 5:10Speaker 5: up in Minnesota who went hunting with some buddies, disappeared,
- 5:14Speaker 5: never came back. And, um, They think maybe one of
- 5:18Speaker 5: the other kids who was with him.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Had something to do with it.
- 5:21Speaker 4: Just in time for spooky season.
- 5:23Speaker 1: That's right.
- 5:24Speaker 2: That's right.
- 5:24Speaker 5: And I'm watching Yanni pass notes over.
- 5:27Speaker 3: What are you guys passing notes about?
- 5:30Speaker 1: Yanni says there's a lint ball on my neck.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Did you get it?
- 5:33Speaker 1: I don't know. I've been staring at that all day.
- 5:35Speaker 2: You got it.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Okay, good.
- 5:37Speaker 5: I thought it was just an ingrown hair.
- 5:38Speaker 1: This episode's off to a rough start.
- 5:39Speaker 2: What did you think? You said they think. Do you
- 5:42Speaker 2: think one of the.
- 5:43Speaker 5: Other kids is being mischievous?
- 5:46Speaker 4: It's got to be impartial.
- 5:47Speaker 5: Yeah, it's possible. The reason they are suspicious is because
- 5:52Speaker 5: he said some very suspicious things in the days and
- 5:55Speaker 5: months after it happened. Things like, I know where he is.
- 5:59Speaker 7: Oh.
- 6:00Speaker 5: And he also allegedly had some of the missing boy's possessions.
- 6:06Speaker 4: Oh.
- 6:06Speaker 5: This is all allegedly.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:08Speaker 5: Just to be clear.
- 6:09Speaker 1: And you also have updates from previous... cases that you've
- 6:13Speaker 1: done on the show in this season.
- 6:15Speaker 2: We do.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:15Speaker 5: We're going to do in the middle of the season,
- 6:17Speaker 5: we're going to do an update episode where we update
- 6:20Speaker 5: on anything that's happened in the stories we've covered previously. Um, so,
- 6:24Speaker 5: and there are, there are several, uh, we actually were
- 6:26Speaker 5: able to get a homicide investigation opened in one of
- 6:31Speaker 5: the cases that we covered from season two.
- 6:33Speaker 1: That's wild. Yeah.
- 6:35Speaker 5: Well, we were, I mean, I think the family of
- 6:37Speaker 5: the victim was very, very happy.
- 6:39Speaker 2: And yeah, that was the arson, right?
- 6:41Speaker 1: Yep.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Yeah, the arson.
- 6:42Speaker 5: The guy was found in his home. Home had burned down.
- 6:45Speaker 5: He was inside. And they never really investigated it as
- 6:49Speaker 5: a homicide, even though it should have been.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Well, that drops this week, right? Yes. The new season
- 6:57Speaker 1: drops this week.
- 6:58Speaker 5: So looking forward to that. Yeah.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:01Speaker 5: I think people like it.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Cool.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Well, the Sydney index for today's episode is five. So
- 7:08Speaker 1: the winner might just get a perfect game. With that,
- 7:12Speaker 1: we're off to our game of trivia. Play the drop, Phil. Look,
- 7:18Speaker 1: I need to know what I stand to win, everything.
- 7:22Speaker 1: How's that? You stand to win everything.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Game on, suckers!
- 7:35Speaker 1: Question one falls under the category of the cosmos. Polaris,
- 7:42Speaker 1: or the North Star, is the brightest star in which
- 7:45Speaker 1: of the following constellations? The question is, Polaris, or the
- 7:50Speaker 1: North Star, is the brightest star in which of the
- 7:53Speaker 1: following constellations? And your options are A, Orion, B, the
- 7:58Speaker 1: Northern Cross, C, the Little Dipper, or D, Canis Major. Again,
- 8:07Speaker 1: those options are Orion, the North Cross, The Little Dipper
- 8:12Speaker 1: or Canis Major?
- 8:16Speaker 5: I didn't know it was in a constellation. So it's
- 8:19Speaker 5: going to be a challenge.
- 8:20Speaker 1: This is a fun episode for you already.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Already.
- 8:22Speaker 1: We're breaking new ground. Omar, did you know this? I
- 8:28Speaker 1: feel confident, but.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Oh, man.
- 8:31Speaker 5: We'll see.
- 8:33Speaker 8: This is like all stuff that I studied when I
- 8:34Speaker 8: was like. second through fourth grade. We'll see if it's stuck.
- 8:39Speaker 6: I don't remember any of those things from second to
- 8:41Speaker 6: fourth grade.
- 8:42Speaker 2: I'm changing.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Johnny's changing.
- 8:43Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I can't stop calling you Johnny. Sorry. Corey's struggling.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Brody.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Hard.
- 8:52Speaker 3: I feel like you're trying to pull a fast one
- 8:54Speaker 3: on us.
- 8:54Speaker 1: I thought you were writing as I was reading the question.
- 8:58Speaker 1: I was, but... And then you're just still writing. I
- 9:01Speaker 1: thought you had a confident answer. I might just keep writing. Again,
- 9:03Speaker 1: Polaris or the North Star... is the brightest star in
- 9:06Speaker 1: which of the following constellations? Is it Orion, the Northern Cross,
- 9:14Speaker 1: the Little Dipper, or Canis Major?
- 9:22Speaker 2: By the end of this, I will have written down
- 9:25Speaker 2: all of the possible answers, at least one.
- 9:27Speaker 1: This is good. This is good.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Wait, so what are these verticals?
- 9:31Speaker 1: This is the Cosmos.
- 9:33Speaker 2: No, no, no, but what are the verticals in this?
- 9:35Speaker 5: Nighttime navigation.
- 9:36Speaker 3: Randall doesn't limit himself to verticals.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Oh, I see.
- 9:39Speaker 2: This is woodsmanship. In general trivia, are you asking?
- 9:42Speaker 6: No, no, no, I didn't know if these verticals, this
- 9:44Speaker 6: seems outside of the normal, you know, for hunting, fishing, conservation.
- 9:48Speaker 1: If you think this is outside of the verticals, wait
- 9:50Speaker 1: till we get further into this game.
- 9:51Speaker 2: I think this falls in there. I mean, this is navigation.
- 9:54Speaker 6: It does, but the way he, introduced it was outside
- 9:57Speaker 6: of it.
- 9:57Speaker 1: I think it's fun to read things like the cosmos
- 10:00Speaker 1: as a category because categories that we don't repeat are
- 10:04Speaker 1: not really categories.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Yes, that's fun.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Just one-off categories. All right, everybody has their answers. Let's
- 10:10Speaker 1: flip them over. Brody says, the Little Dipper. Jordan says,
- 10:14Speaker 1: the Little Dipper. Omar says, Orion. Corey says, the Northern Cross.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Logan says the Little Dipper, and Giannis says the Little Dipper.
- 10:22Speaker 1: A lot of dippers. The correct answer is C, the
- 10:25Speaker 1: Little Dipper or Ursa Minor.
- 10:27Speaker 3: It's the end of the handle, isn't it?
- 10:30Speaker 1: To find the North Star, which is visible all year
- 10:33Speaker 1: from the Northern Hemisphere, locate the two stars at the
- 10:36Speaker 1: end of the Big Dipper's bowl and trace a line
- 10:39Speaker 1: about five times that distance beyond them. The North Star
- 10:43Speaker 1: is the brightest star in Ursa Minor, also called the
- 10:46Speaker 1: Little Dipper or Little Bear. I think it's kind of
- 10:48Speaker 1: right in the middle. Is it? I looked at pictures
- 10:50Speaker 1: of that this morning when I was double checking this. Yeah.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Good question.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Fascinating stuff.
- 10:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Question two. This question is in the category of hunting.
- 11:02Speaker 1: A trophy caribou with two brow palmations is said to
- 11:07Speaker 1: be a double what? A trophy caribou with two brow
- 11:17Speaker 1: palmations is said to be a double what?
- 11:22Speaker 3: For the longest time, this was my dad's dream animal.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Did he ever go do it?
- 11:29Speaker 1: Nope. Omar's got an answer.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Not going to do it now?
- 11:32Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Brody must be confident. Giannis is confident.
- 11:36Speaker 2: I feel pretty confident.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Corey, I thought this would be right in your wheelhouse.
- 11:41Speaker 5: It's from a guy from northwest Montana where caribou are native.
- 11:45Speaker 5: I've never seen a caribou.
- 11:46Speaker 3: That's because they're all dead in the lower 48.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Yeah, right. They're not too, they come back and forth.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Nope, not anymore. They don't.
- 11:52Speaker 1: When I was a kid, they did.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Jordan, do you have an answer? Oh, yes.
- 11:58Speaker 1: How are you feeling about it?
- 12:01Speaker 5: You know, we'll see. We'll see.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I think it's just Corey here.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
- 12:06Speaker 4: Really?
- 12:07Speaker 1: I'm sorry to do that to you. That's fine.
- 12:09Speaker 5: Caribou is a fascinating animal.
- 12:12Speaker 1: All right. Why don't we flip them over here? Brody, shovel.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Jordan says whammy. Omar says shovel. Corey says badass. Logan
- 12:22Speaker 1: says basket. And Yana says shovel. The correct answer is shovel.
- 12:27Speaker 1: A double shovel caribou refers to an antler configuration where
- 12:31Speaker 1: a bull caribou develops two broad, flattened, spade-like brow palmations,
- 12:36Speaker 1: or shovels, instead of the usual single prominent front shovel.
- 12:40Speaker 1: I was going to make a joke here about sheds,
- 12:43Speaker 1: like shed antlers, or how shovels are stored in sheds.
- 12:46Speaker 1: A double entendre, but I didn't figure that one out.
- 12:49Speaker 3: If you want to see Double Shovel, watch the Doug
- 12:53Speaker 3: Dern caribou episode from season seven.
- 12:58Speaker 2: He gets one.
- 12:59Speaker 1: It's one of the first, after I learned what it was,
- 13:01Speaker 1: it's one of the first things that I look for
- 13:04Speaker 1: when I see a caribou that makes my eyes bulge.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Question three. This question comes to us in the category
- 13:12Speaker 1: of fishing. What is the name for a stabilizing float
- 13:17Speaker 1: attached to the side of a canoe that keeps the
- 13:20Speaker 1: boat from capsizing? What is the name for a stabilizing
- 13:27Speaker 1: float attached to the side of a canoe that keeps
- 13:31Speaker 1: the boat from capsizing? There's some pained expressions in the room.
- 13:41Speaker 6: I'm curious if, you know, sitting with my back to
- 13:44Speaker 6: the screen, I'm wondering if I'm going to get a
- 13:47Speaker 6: better score by not looking at the questions as often.
- 13:49Speaker 6: If I could just like internally go into my brain.
- 13:51Speaker 1: There you go. We'll see.
- 13:53Speaker 5: I have a canoe.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Yeah. Do you?
- 13:57Speaker 2: Yes.
- 13:57Speaker 5: I bought it from a gentleman off Craigslist.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:00Speaker 5: And he built his own.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Nice.
- 14:02Speaker 5: And yeah, he let me keep him.
- 14:04Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 14:05Speaker 2: It's pretty sweet.
- 14:05Speaker 1: This is something I've always wanted. Yeah.
- 14:08Speaker 5: I don't know that my answer is right. But I
- 14:10Speaker 5: have some at home.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Jordan, completely unrelated.
- 14:14Speaker 6: I saw a while you posted about you were making
- 14:16Speaker 6: like a walk-in cooler.
- 14:18Speaker 8: Yes.
- 14:18Speaker 6: Did you finish that?
- 14:19Speaker 7: I did.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Nice.
- 14:20Speaker 5: That's awesome.
- 14:20Speaker 2: I'm excited to see.
- 14:21Speaker 6: You mentioned you're going to do like a write-up on that.
- 14:23Speaker 5: Yeah, I'll do a full like build article. But yeah,
- 14:26Speaker 5: I just put a pig in there for a week.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Nice.
- 14:28Speaker 5: Last week.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Did you do the cool bot method?
- 14:31Speaker 1: Yep. This guy's got a walk-in cooler and a canoe
- 14:34Speaker 1: with these. Whoa. Consider me envious.
- 14:38Speaker 2: No doubt.
- 14:39Speaker 4: If there's any cell phones on the table, can we
- 14:41Speaker 4: get them on the ground or somewhere else?
- 14:43Speaker 1: Is everybody, Omar's still got a blank board. I don't
- 14:46Speaker 1: think I'm going to get one.
- 14:47Speaker 2: I could use more time to think about it.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Yeah, a little more time. A little more time.
- 14:50Speaker 8: I know they do it like competitively too. And I just,
- 14:56Speaker 8: I worked on something last week where I saw it.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Oh yeah.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Just drawing a blank.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:04Speaker 4: For the listeners at home, Brody was in his practically
- 15:07Speaker 4: under the table thinking pose for a solid 90 seconds.
- 15:10Speaker 1: As soon as I read the question, Brody sort of
- 15:12Speaker 1: folded in half and Yanni straightened up like he was
- 15:16Speaker 1: a puppet being pulled off the stage. It was like
- 15:18Speaker 1: he had a string attached to the back of his
- 15:20Speaker 1: shirt collar. Just stiffened right up.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Constantly working on my posture.
- 15:24Speaker 8: You know.
- 15:25Speaker 1: It's good. It's good.
- 15:28Speaker 2: What is that thing called?
- 15:29Speaker 1: Jeez. Jeez.
- 15:32Speaker 2: We're giving him too much time here. This is ridiculous.
- 15:34Speaker 2: I'm fine to go forward.
- 15:36Speaker 1: All right. Let's flip him over. Brody says pontoon. Jordan
- 15:42Speaker 1: says outrigger. Omar says nothing. Corey says kickstand. Logan says runner.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Yanni says outrigger. The correct answer is outrigger. Nicely done.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Outrigger canoes originated among Austronesian peoples and were central to
- 15:59Speaker 1: the Polynesian and Micronesian voyages that settled the Pacific Islands. Today,
- 16:04Speaker 1: they are still used for fishing and travel in places
- 16:06Speaker 1: like the Pacific and Southeast Asia, and outrigger canoe paddling
- 16:10Speaker 1: is a popular competitive sport in Hawaii. That's exactly what
- 16:14Speaker 1: it was. I always wanted... I remember seeing outriggers made
- 16:19Speaker 1: from coolers, and guys would build, like, A canoe with
- 16:24Speaker 1: two coolers and you could fill them up with things.
- 16:27Speaker 1: What was this?
- 16:28Speaker 2: Bush light, maybe?
- 16:29Speaker 1: Oh, it was on the internet, man, where all the
- 16:31Speaker 1: good stuff is. But I always really wanted that.
- 16:35Speaker 2: An outrigger, what was tripping me up is that an
- 16:37Speaker 2: outrigger is also what an offshore fishing boat uses to
- 16:41Speaker 2: get lines off the side of the boat, right?
- 16:44Speaker 6: Isn't that a downrigger?
- 16:45Speaker 1: Downrigger.
- 16:46Speaker 2: No, but downriggers are the ones that actually send them
- 16:48Speaker 2: down into the water. Outriggers are the big arms.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Fly out, right?
- 16:53Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm not doing a lot of deep
- 16:56Speaker 1: sea fishing these days. But it makes sense.
- 17:00Speaker 5: They kind of do. They both stick out.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Yeah, they're out on a boom. I think that's what
- 17:05Speaker 1: they call that. Question four. This question falls under the
- 17:10Speaker 1: category of wildlife. Name two living bear species not native
- 17:16Speaker 1: to North America. Name two living bear species... Not native
- 17:24Speaker 1: to North America. Brody's got a quick answer. Everybody else
- 17:38Speaker 1: is puzzled. Really?
- 17:41Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 17:42Speaker 3: Well, yeah, maybe on that second one, I don't know.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Name two living bear species, not native. to North America.
- 17:53Speaker 1: How are you feeling, Yanni?
- 17:55Speaker 2: Pretty good.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Good, good. I don't even know what the score is
- 17:59Speaker 1: right now.
- 18:00Speaker 2: It's all right. After question five, we'll get a scoreboard up.
- 18:03Speaker 1: I know. It's been an exciting few questions here.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Hopefully, Phil can get the scores right.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Mm-hmm. Yanni and Brody.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Has he ever gotten it wrong?
- 18:15Speaker 1: Corey, how do you feel?
- 18:16Speaker 2: No, never.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Your board's down.
- 18:17Speaker 2: I like bears.
- 18:19Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Feeling good.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Good, good, good.
- 18:21Speaker 2: To answer your question.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Are you good, Omar? I mean, I got something. I
- 18:26Speaker 1: don't want to rush you guys. I'm just trying to
- 18:28Speaker 1: feel out the room. Keep the banter going.
- 18:31Speaker 8: I don't know if the second bear that I have,
- 18:33Speaker 8: if it's the correct name for it.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Are we ready to flip them over? All right. Reveal
- 18:43Speaker 1: your answers. Brody says panda and sun bear. Jordan says
- 18:48Speaker 1: panda and Eurasian black bear. Omar says panda and Japan bear.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Corey says panda bear and sun bear. Logan says polar
- 18:57Speaker 1: bear and panda bear. Yana says sun bear and panda bear.
- 19:01Speaker 1: We have some correct answers in the room. Here's the list.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Sloth bear, sun bear, Asiatic black bear, which gives me Pause.
- 19:15Speaker 1: I think we give it to Jordan. The giant panda.
- 19:19Speaker 1: I think they're also called moon bears. Giant panda and
- 19:21Speaker 1: the spectacled bear. Sloth bear, sun bear, Asiatic black bear,
- 19:26Speaker 1: giant panda, spectacled bear.
- 19:28Speaker 4: What was Jordan's answer again?
- 19:29Speaker 1: Eurasian black bear. Oh, got it.
- 19:32Speaker 5: Okay.
- 19:33Speaker 2: I think.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:34Speaker 2: We'll give it to Jordan.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Sloth bears are found in India and Sri Lanka. Sun
- 19:39Speaker 1: bears are found in Southeast Asia. The Asiatic black bear
- 19:43Speaker 1: is found in Asia. giant panda in China and the
- 19:46Speaker 1: spectacle bear is South America's only native bear. species, found
- 19:51Speaker 1: in the Andes. Hmm. Yeah, that was a fun question.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Spectacle.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Question five. This question falls under the category of conservation.
- 20:01Speaker 1: In the 1995 film Ace Ventura, When Nature Calls, Ace
- 20:04Speaker 1: hides inside a mechanical model of which animal and then
- 20:07Speaker 1: emerges from its rear end in a memorable scene? Dang it.
- 20:13Speaker 2: Great question. I never saw this movie.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Is there a clip? I'll repeat that. No. In the
- 20:20Speaker 1: 1995 film Ace Ventura, When Nature Calls, Ace hides inside
- 20:26Speaker 1: a large mechanical model of which animal? and then emerges
- 20:29Speaker 1: from its rear end in a memorable scene.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Oh, classic.
- 20:34Speaker 1: I thought you'd like this one.
- 20:35Speaker 6: Yeah, that's a good one.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Must have not been that memorable.
- 20:42Speaker 1: I do think Pet Detective's a better film, though. Do
- 20:44Speaker 1: you really?
- 20:45Speaker 5: I do.
- 20:46Speaker 1: See, I fell in love with When Nature Calls. I
- 20:50Speaker 1: feel like Pet Detective's a little edgier. That's why I
- 20:54Speaker 1: love it. Jordan's got an answer.
- 21:00Speaker 2: I gotta guess.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I threatened in an earlier episode, I threatened to
- 21:06Speaker 1: do my entire guest-hosted episode as questions about the two
- 21:10Speaker 1: Ace Ventura movies, and then I chickened out. But I
- 21:13Speaker 1: still liked this one.
- 21:15Speaker 5: That could be fun with people who've seen those movies.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 21:20Speaker 1: It would be way more... It's also more interesting if
- 21:23Speaker 1: you haven't seen it. Yanni, are you gonna get there?
- 21:28Speaker 2: I mean, I'll pick an animal when I have to.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I think we're waiting on you and Brody. Keep waiting.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Brody's got an answer. Yanni's got an answer. All righty then.
- 21:52Speaker 9: Flip him over.
- 21:53Speaker 2: I see what you did there.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Brody says whale.
- 21:55Speaker 4: Ah.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Jordan says cow. Omar says rhino. Corey says rhino. Logan
- 22:00Speaker 1: says rhino. Niana says horse. The correct answer is rhino.
- 22:05Speaker 1: A horse would be pretty interesting. I've got some lengthy
- 22:09Speaker 1: flavor text here. Ace Ventura When Nature Calls is a
- 22:12Speaker 1: sequel to 1994's Ace Ventura Pet Detective with Jim Carrey
- 22:16Speaker 1: returning as the title character. When the film begins, Ace
- 22:18Speaker 1: Ventura is living in a Tibetan monastery after a rescue
- 22:21Speaker 1: mission goes wrong when a British emissary named Fulton Greenwall
- 22:24Speaker 1: tracks him down and asks for help. A sacred white
- 22:27Speaker 1: bat known to the locals as Shikaka has gone missing
- 22:29Speaker 1: in Africa and without it, a wedding met to unite
- 22:31Speaker 1: two rival tribes cannot proceed. Ace travels to Africa where
- 22:35Speaker 1: his unorthodox investigation methods get him in trouble with both tribes.
- 22:39Speaker 1: In the meantime, Ace uncovers a scheme by outsiders who
- 22:41Speaker 1: want the tribes to go to war. In the end,
- 22:43Speaker 1: he recovers the bat and saves the wedding. And this
- 22:46Speaker 1: is part of his investigation is when he gets in
- 22:47Speaker 1: this rhino.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Nice.
- 22:50Speaker 1: It's a great image. It's a great image.
- 22:53Speaker 5: What's Jim Carrey up to these days? He's lost his marbles.
- 22:58Speaker 4: Has he though?
- 22:59Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 23:00Speaker 6: I feel like he's kind of like gone to this
- 23:02Speaker 6: like philosophical route.
- 23:03Speaker 5: And I, I don't know.
- 23:05Speaker 6: I watched an episode of him in, Comedians in cars
- 23:07Speaker 6: getting coffee, and I feel like he's all there.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Oh, good. Good to know. Phil, we're now halfway through
- 23:14Speaker 1: our game of trivia. Can I have a scoreboard update?
- 23:17Speaker 2: Yes, you may.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Wow, what a game.
- 23:18Speaker 2: It's a pretty close game.
- 23:19Speaker 7: Yeah, somehow.
- 23:21Speaker 4: Omar and Corey, as well as Logan, have two points each.
- 23:25Speaker 4: Jordan and Brody are tied up in second place with
- 23:29Speaker 4: three points, and Giannis is in first place with four.
- 23:33Speaker 2: Anybody's game.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Wow. There you go. Exceptional.
- 23:36Speaker 5: This is the best I've ever done at trivia.
- 23:39Speaker 1: All right. It's time for our DraftKings question of the week.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Thanks to DraftKings for sponsoring today's question of the week.
- 23:45Speaker 1: One question, one shot, and a chance to prove you
- 23:47Speaker 1: know your stuff. Let's get into it. And this is
- 23:49Speaker 1: a bonus question, so it's not going to count towards
- 23:51Speaker 1: your final scores. Here's the question. The largest public university
- 23:56Speaker 1: in Vermont's athletic teams are named for this eight-letter word,
- 24:00Speaker 1: an old New England name for the Cougar. I'll read
- 24:05Speaker 1: that again. The largest public university in Vermont's athletic teams
- 24:11Speaker 1: are named for this eight-letter word, an old New England
- 24:14Speaker 1: name for the Cougar. But this actually has nine letters.
- 24:20Speaker 1: It's a nine-letter word. It's a nine-letter word. Somehow that
- 24:24Speaker 1: got lost in translation.
- 24:26Speaker 2: I can edit this on the fly.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Yeah, don't read too much into it. In no way
- 24:32Speaker 1: should this reflect on the sponsor of the question of
- 24:35Speaker 1: the week. That's my error. It's a nine-letter word. Brody's
- 24:40Speaker 1: got an answer. Yanni's got an answer.
- 24:41Speaker 3: I've got the answer.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Brody's got the answer.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Does this question count in the game? No, it doesn't.
- 24:47Speaker 1: It's just a bonus.
- 24:48Speaker 3: I really wish it counted.
- 24:50Speaker 2: Me too.
- 24:50Speaker 1: It's a good one. No, I'm good.
- 24:55Speaker 5: This is great. I like the question of the week.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Logan's thinking.
- 25:02Speaker 3: I'll add my own flavor text.
- 25:05Speaker 1: To this rant. Please do. I don't have any.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Later.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Okay. Corey's looking. Omar's looking. Logan's erasing. Jordan's looking. We're
- 25:20Speaker 1: not going to get there? I wouldn't wager on me.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Give up the answer. Reveal your answers, please. Brody says catamount.
- 25:28Speaker 1: And Yanni says catamount. The correct answer is catamount. Thanks
- 25:33Speaker 1: again to DraftKings for sponsoring today's questions. One app, every sport,

- 26:26Speaker 2: Limited to New England.
- 26:27Speaker 3: I don't think it's strictly a New England name.
- 26:30Speaker 1: All right.
- 26:32Speaker 3: There's a boat ramp. Giannis and I used to take
- 26:34Speaker 3: out at a place called Catamount in Colorado, and I've
- 26:37Speaker 3: seen it other places.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Well, it might have come out.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Well, sure.
- 26:39Speaker 5: I'm just saying.
- 26:40Speaker 1: It might have originated in New England. I'm sure it did.
- 26:42Speaker 2: All right.
- 26:44Speaker 1: I'm not going to say, I'm not going.
- 26:45Speaker 3: To say you could see that name. You could see
- 26:48Speaker 3: it anywhere.
- 26:49Speaker 1: You could see it anywhere. I rest my case. Question six.
- 26:55Speaker 1: This question falls into the category of fishing. What is
- 26:59Speaker 1: the name for the woven wicker basket traditionally worn by
- 27:03Speaker 1: anglers on a strap over the shoulder or hip used
- 27:06Speaker 1: to hold freshly caught fish?
- 27:09Speaker 2: I'll repeat that question.
- 27:11Speaker 1: What is the name for the woven wicker basket traditionally
- 27:15Speaker 1: worn by anglers on a strap over the shoulder or
- 27:19Speaker 1: hip used to hold freshly caught fish? Corey, quick answer.
- 27:24Speaker 5: Reminds me of a great movie y'all have probably heard of,
- 27:26Speaker 5: A River Runs Through It, where they're all rocking one
- 27:28Speaker 5: of these.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Have you ever worn one of these? No.
- 27:32Speaker 3: They were still around when I was a little kid.
- 27:35Speaker 2: I never have.
- 27:36Speaker 1: They sold one at Wal-Mart. Oh, really? When I was
- 27:39Speaker 1: growing up.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:41Speaker 1: And there's one that they had. It was just like,
- 27:44Speaker 1: it wasn't actually wicker. It wasn't a basket. It was
- 27:48Speaker 1: a bag. Right. Sort of insulated with drain holes.
- 27:52Speaker 3: Yeah, and it used to be, like I was told,
- 27:55Speaker 3: you would put fresh wet grass in there with the
- 27:57Speaker 3: fish to help keep them cool.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Yanni, you know the answer?
- 28:04Speaker 2: I do. But yeah, that's one of my favorite scenes
- 28:07Speaker 2: from that movie is when The dad.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Old Tom Skerritt.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Yeah, he's like, well, the good Lord has blessed us all.
- 28:16Speaker 2: It's just that he's been particularly kind to me today.
- 28:20Speaker 2: He lays down his big old slab.
- 28:23Speaker 1: That's great. Jordan and Omar's got an answer. Jordan's drawn
- 28:27Speaker 1: a blank here.
- 28:28Speaker 4: Logan?
- 28:29Speaker 6: I mean, I don't think it's right, but I've got
- 28:31Speaker 6: something written.
- 28:31Speaker 1: All right. Reveal your answers. Brody says Creel. Jordan without
- 28:36Speaker 1: an answer. Omar says Quiver. Corey says creel with a K.
- 28:40Speaker 1: We'll accept that. Logan says stringer. Yana says creel. The
- 28:43Speaker 1: correct answer is creel. A creel's woven construction allows air
- 28:49Speaker 1: to circulate so the fish stays cool and doesn't spoil.
- 28:53Speaker 1: The word also gives us creel limit, the legal cap
- 28:55Speaker 1: on how many fish an angler may keep, and creel survey,
- 28:59Speaker 1: the name for the interviews fisheries biologists conduct with anglers
- 29:02Speaker 1: to estimate catch and fishing pressure.
- 29:06Speaker 2: It's also a great scene when that old boy gets
- 29:09Speaker 2: sunburned after going fishing and drinking.
- 29:14Speaker 1: I liked that guy because he just wanted to fish
- 29:16Speaker 1: with worms.
- 29:17Speaker 2: Yeah. Yes.
- 29:18Speaker 1: Yes. All right. Question seven. This question falls into the
- 29:21Speaker 1: category of gun stuff.
- 29:23Speaker 5: Yes.
- 29:24Speaker 1: What six letter term refers to the stacked internal parts
- 29:28Speaker 1: of a firearm suppressor that redirect and slow expanding gases
- 29:34Speaker 1: to reduce the sound of a gunshot? what six letter
- 29:41Speaker 1: refers to the stacked internal parts of a firearm suppressor
- 29:45Speaker 1: that redirect and slow expanding gases to reduce the sound
- 29:49Speaker 1: of a gunshot?
- 29:50Speaker 3: It wouldn't be a Randall episode without a gun stuff question.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Maybe get another one.
- 29:57Speaker 2: I like these. Yeah, I like gun stuff. These are
- 29:59Speaker 2: up my alley.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Sydney got this one like that. I was quite pleased.
- 30:04Speaker 2: Quite pleased.
- 30:06Speaker 3: Hopefully I got this right.
- 30:08Speaker 6: Cause like a word just came to my mind.
- 30:09Speaker 3: I'm like, hopefully that's usually that's good. That's your strategy, right?
- 30:13Speaker 5: You're not looking at the thing. You're just like, yeah,
- 30:15Speaker 5: that's right.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Only thing I don't like about these is cleaning them. Jeez.
- 30:22Speaker 1: What a pain.
- 30:23Speaker 6: Does that change your point of impact pretty significantly? One
- 30:25Speaker 6: of my friends just cleaned his suppressor.
- 30:27Speaker 1: I have to say, I haven't cleaned enough of them
- 30:29Speaker 1: to really know.
- 30:30Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:30Speaker 5: I would think not.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:32Speaker 2: I know.
- 30:33Speaker 5: Cause it's not supposed to be hitting anything on that,
- 30:35Speaker 5: you know, the way through.
- 30:38Speaker 1: We've all got answers. Let's flip those boards over. Brody
- 30:42Speaker 1: says baffle. Jordan says baffle. Omar says muzzle. Corey says baffle.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Logan says baffle. Giannis says baffle. The correct answer is baffle.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Baffle create, excuse me. Baffles create a series of chambers
- 30:56Speaker 1: inside the suppressor that trap the hot high pressure gas
- 30:59Speaker 1: leaving the barrel and and release it slowly, which lowers
- 31:02Speaker 1: the sound of the shot. They come in several designs,
- 31:04Speaker 1: including cone-shaped and flat disc styles, and are commonly made
- 31:08Speaker 1: of metals like stainless steel or titanium. That's question seven.
- 31:16Speaker 2: More baffles, the better.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Yep. Yep. That's what they say, I think. On to
- 31:23Speaker 1: question eight. This question falls into the category of cooking.
- 31:28Speaker 1: This Wisconsin-based company founded in 1945 is the top-selling brand
- 31:33Speaker 1: of bratwurst in the United States. What is its name?
- 31:37Speaker 1: Such a Randall question. I thought maybe we'd had this question, but...
- 31:44Speaker 1: I'll read it again. This Wisconsin-based company founded in 1945
- 31:48Speaker 1: is the top-selling brand of bratwurst in the United States.
- 31:52Speaker 1: What is its name?
- 31:55Speaker 2: We ate some of these during my recent... elk hunting trip.
- 31:59Speaker 1: This reminds me of the live tour.
- 32:01Speaker 3: I made some wild game brats.
- 32:02Speaker 1: The live tour will be going on where I'll eat brats.
- 32:05Speaker 5: Oh, yes.
- 32:05Speaker 2: We're going to eat a lot of brats.
- 32:06Speaker 3: I made some wild game brats last year that they
- 32:10Speaker 3: just don't compete with these things.
- 32:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:13Speaker 2: It's hard.
- 32:14Speaker 4: There are like four German brat shops in the street
- 32:18Speaker 4: directly behind the Milwaukee theater that the live tour is
- 32:20Speaker 4: going to be on.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Yeah. Tickets are going fast. I will say that. This
- 32:24Speaker 1: is a shameless plug. Not scripted, but I think we're
- 32:28Speaker 1: close to 90% sold out of all tickets. So if
- 32:31Speaker 1: you want tickets, go find them.
- 32:33Speaker 2: That's awesome, man.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Des Moines, Iowa is where we folks really need to
- 32:39Speaker 1: get after. They're lagging behind. So all you proud Iowans
- 32:44Speaker 1: out there.
- 32:46Speaker 4: Thank you to the multiple people from Michigan who gave
- 32:49Speaker 4: me a tiki bar rec in Grand Rapids.
- 32:52Speaker 1: I will be there. I have a little itinerary document going, Phil. Great.
- 32:55Speaker 1: We've all got an answer.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Hey, you guys going to bring me along? Because I
- 32:58Speaker 2: haven't been doing any kind of planning.
- 32:59Speaker 1: You can do all the stuff.
- 33:00Speaker 4: Giannis, I'll be mad if you don't come.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Okay, perfect, Phil. Corey?
- 33:05Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm worried you're going to be mad at me.
- 33:08Speaker 1: I'm worried that you're doing so poorly.
- 33:10Speaker 3: I'm actually having a pretty nice comeback.
- 33:13Speaker 2: I just need other people to fall apart.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Flip those boards over. Brody says Johnsonville. Jordan says Oscar Mayer.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Omar says ballpark. Corey says ballpark. Logan says Johnsonville. Yana
- 33:23Speaker 1: says Johnsonville.
- 33:24Speaker 3: It was there.
- 33:25Speaker 1: The correct answer is Johnsonville. The brand takes its name
- 33:28Speaker 1: from the hometown of its founders, Ralph and Alice Steyer.
- 33:32Speaker 1: While their sausages were initially only available to Wisconsinites, Johnsonville
- 33:37Speaker 1: increased its sales 20-fold in the 1980s and expanded distribution nationwide.
- 33:43Speaker 1: It remains privately owned, and Johnsonville sausages can be purchased
- 33:48Speaker 1: in more than 45 countries.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Wow.
- 33:52Speaker 1: I spent some time on their website today. And let
- 33:55Speaker 1: me tell you, it makes me feel good about eating
- 33:57Speaker 1: Johnsonville brats.
- 33:58Speaker 2: That's still only a quarter of the countries that Kiwi
- 34:01Speaker 2: shoe polish can be found in.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Wow, you mind like a steel trap. Phil, we've got
- 34:07Speaker 1: two questions left in our game of trivia. How's that
- 34:10Speaker 1: scoreboard looking?
- 34:10Speaker 4: Sounds like Yanni's holding a grudge from his shoe polish question.
- 34:16Speaker 4: Got a little bit more of a spread now going on.
- 34:18Speaker 4: Omar's in the back of the train with two points.
- 34:21Speaker 4: We've got Jordan, Logan, and Corey tied up with four.
- 34:25Speaker 2: Brody has six.
- 34:27Speaker 4: Giannis still in first with seven now.
- 34:30Speaker 2: Oh, if I can feel Brody's nipping, nipping.
- 34:36Speaker 5: Oh, boy.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Question nine. This question falls under the category of gun stuff.
- 34:42Speaker 1: In the realm of handguns, What does the abbreviation S-A-O
- 34:46Speaker 1: stand for?
- 34:50Speaker 5: Oh.
- 34:51Speaker 1: In the realm of handguns, what does the abbreviation S-A-O
- 34:57Speaker 1: stand for?
- 35:02Speaker 2: It's an abbreviation, not an acronym.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Oh, goodness gracious. It's an acronym.
- 35:09Speaker 4: Hmm.
- 35:10Speaker 1: Let's change that. Sorry for this hastily prepared. I forgot
- 35:13Speaker 1: to bring my computer home last night.
- 35:16Speaker 2: Ah, when you had to go home to fix your dishwasher. Yeah.
- 35:18Speaker 1: Yeah. I had a big stack of books that I
- 35:20Speaker 1: was carrying and I put them on my desk and
- 35:23Speaker 1: forgot that my computer was under them. So this episode
- 35:26Speaker 1: was hastily prepared this morning.
- 35:28Speaker 2: Quite fine with me. I'm enjoying myself.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Thanks for pointing that out. I knew it.
- 35:31Speaker 5: I knew what you meant.
- 35:32Speaker 1: Thanks for pointing that out. Yes. What does the acronym
- 35:35Speaker 1: S-A-O stand for? What does the acronym SAO stand for
- 35:42Speaker 1: in the realm of hand gunnery. The dishwasher is not fixed.
- 35:53Speaker 1: I just ordered replacement parts. All the stuff that bent.
- 35:56Speaker 2: Well, that's nice to know that there is such a
- 35:59Speaker 2: thing as replacement parts for those. I just figured you'd
- 36:02Speaker 2: have to buy a new dishwasher.
- 36:04Speaker 1: No, not at the dishwasher price dishwashers are going for.
- 36:08Speaker 5: Did you scare your dog when you went down?
- 36:12Speaker 1: Geez, I'm bad luck with all kinds of... No, I
- 36:16Speaker 1: don't really remember anyone's reaction. Truthfully, when I hit the floor,
- 36:20Speaker 1: my face was pointing down, so I didn't really see
- 36:23Speaker 1: anybody else's reaction. We've got one... I didn't take note, Jordan,
- 36:32Speaker 1: but I assume that you wrote this one down fairly
- 36:34Speaker 1: quickly and you feel confident.
- 36:35Speaker 5: I feel fairly confident, though I don't know that I've
- 36:39Speaker 5: seen this term as an acronym. very much. So it
- 36:43Speaker 5: is possible I'm totally off base, but I think I
- 36:47Speaker 5: got it.
- 36:48Speaker 1: Corey? Yeah, we'll see.
- 36:51Speaker 5: Doesn't really matter at this point. Because I got Johnsonville wrong.
- 36:56Speaker 1: That's true, yeah.
- 36:57Speaker 5: Though you wrote it down, I saw.
- 36:58Speaker 1: I did, I did.
- 37:00Speaker 5: Ballparks aren't really Bratwurst, are they? No.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Felt right. They're all good.
- 37:06Speaker 2: Brody and Giannis still.
- 37:12Speaker 1: Chewing. Logan, you've got an answer?
- 37:14Speaker 6: I've got an answer. I don't think it's right.
- 37:16Speaker 1: Omar, are you still working there?
- 37:18Speaker 8: I think I'm going to put the cap on the marker.
- 37:20Speaker 8: I don't got any pants really working for me.
- 37:22Speaker 6: Man.
- 37:24Speaker 1: You got a guess for it, bud. You're leaving a
- 37:27Speaker 1: lot of blank. There's no points for leaving a blank board.
- 37:31Speaker 2: Let's see.
- 37:32Speaker 1: All right. Let's write down something crazy. Yanni, how are you?
- 37:37Speaker 2: Not great. Not great.
- 37:39Speaker 8: Uh-oh.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Yeah, you just let me know because I'm just trying
- 37:44Speaker 2: to think of words.
- 37:45Speaker 1: I'm going to look at Brody.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Let's start with O.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Let him go.
- 37:49Speaker 2: Let him go.
- 37:51Speaker 3: Let him go for a minute. I don't want to
- 37:55Speaker 3: be accused of influencing the outcome of the game.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Sydney also got this one. Really? Well, I counted it.
- 38:07Speaker 1: She got two of them right.
- 38:10Speaker 4: That's how many I got.
- 38:11Speaker 2: That's it.
- 38:13Speaker 5: Does that count for us, then?
- 38:14Speaker 4: No.
- 38:15Speaker 2: No, not at all.
- 38:21Speaker 1: The clock on the scoreboard is ticking.
- 38:23Speaker 2: All right.
- 38:28Speaker 1: All right. Flip them over. Brody says semi-automatic only. Jordan
- 38:35Speaker 1: says single action only. Omar says semi-automatic offset. Corey says
- 38:40Speaker 1: safety always off. Logan says shooter assisting optics. Yanni says
- 38:46Speaker 1: shiny auto operator. We have a correct answer in the room.
- 38:49Speaker 1: The correct answer is single action only. I should get
- 38:53Speaker 1: it too.
- 38:53Speaker 2: Good job.
- 38:54Speaker 1: In a single action only handgun, the trigger performs one function,
- 38:59Speaker 1: releasing the hammer or striker. The shooter must cock it first,
- 39:02Speaker 1: either by hand or on a semi-automatic by slide cycling
- 39:07Speaker 1: The classic example is the 1911 pistol. You'll see D-A-S-A.
- 39:13Speaker 1: It's a double action, single action. So the first shot
- 39:16Speaker 1: is a double action. And then you'll see S-A-O.
- 39:21Speaker 5: Or your classic cowboy revolver.
- 39:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, like a single-action revolver.
- 39:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 39:29Speaker 1: All right, guys. Well, that was an exciting question.
- 39:31Speaker 2: That didn't change anything. That was a good question.
- 39:33Speaker 1: Now, before we move on to our final question, here's
- 39:36Speaker 1: a quick recap of our answers so far. Question one, C,
- 39:40Speaker 1: Little Dipper.
- 39:41Speaker 2: Two, Shovel.
- 39:43Speaker 1: Three, Outrigger. Four, Slothbear Sunbear. Asiatic black bear, giant panda,
- 39:50Speaker 1: spectacled bear. Question five, rhino. Question six, creel. Question seven, baffle.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Question eight, Johnsonville. Question nine, single action only. Question 10.
- 40:04Speaker 1: This question is under the category of fishing. Of course
- 40:09Speaker 1: it is. In what 2008 film does Dale ask Derek
- 40:12Speaker 1: if Benita Fisher Bigg to which Derek replies that they are, quote,
- 40:16Speaker 1: what's called a trophy fish, so, uh, yeah, they're pretty big.
- 40:22Speaker 1: I'll repeat the question.
- 40:23Speaker 2: It's gotta be a movie? Come on, Randall.
- 40:26Speaker 1: In what 2008 film does Dale ask Derek if, quote,
- 40:30Speaker 1: bonita fish are big, to which Derek replies that they are, quote,
- 40:35Speaker 1: what's called a trophy fish, so, uh, yeah, they're pretty big.
- 40:43Speaker 1: What does his dad say? I don't want to... Let's
- 40:48Speaker 1: not give too much away here.
- 40:53Speaker 2: 2008 film.
- 40:55Speaker 1: Dale asks Derek if Bonita fish are big. To which
- 40:59Speaker 1: Derek replies that they are, quote, what's called a trophy fish. So, yeah,
- 41:05Speaker 1: they're pretty big. Boy, the The back end of the
- 41:11Speaker 1: table is happy and confident and all smiles. And our
- 41:17Speaker 1: Gen Xers here at the front are.
- 41:19Speaker 2: They got the other movie answer as well, which makes
- 41:24Speaker 2: me think maybe they should be watching less television.
- 41:26Speaker 1: That's right.
- 41:28Speaker 2: Get out in the woods more.
- 41:29Speaker 8: I'm sorry, I was born in the city.
- 41:34Speaker 1: Can't live in the woods. Cory's just a well-rounded individual.
- 41:38Speaker 2: Dale and Derek, huh?
- 41:41Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 41:42Speaker 8: Derek hasn't had a carb since 08.
- 41:47Speaker 1: In what 2008 film does Dale ask Derek if Bonita
- 41:53Speaker 1: fish are big? To which Derek replies that they are, quote,
- 41:57Speaker 1: what's called a trophy fish. So, yeah, they're pretty big.
- 42:03Speaker 10: You like that line it's a great line and just
- 42:08Speaker 10: one for the audience we're gonna be we're gonna watch
- 42:10Speaker 10: a clip from this movie uh you're not gonna see
- 42:12Speaker 10: it it's just gonna be us in the room and
- 42:14Speaker 10: then we're gonna it's gonna cut immediately back to us
- 42:16Speaker 10: i'm sure full of smiles.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Yeah the powers that be on the internet won't let
- 42:19Speaker 1: us play this for our for our lovely audience so
- 42:23Speaker 1: i would encourage.
- 42:23Speaker 2: You to just look it up i don't have i
- 42:26Speaker 2: don't have an answer.
- 42:27Speaker 1: Chuckle brody's Brody's got his answer. Jordan's blank. Yanni's blank.
- 42:32Speaker 3: I have an answer.
- 42:34Speaker 1: Let's flip them over, team. Brody says Tucker and Dale
- 42:39Speaker 1: versus evil. Omar says stepbrothers. Corey says stepbrothers. Logan says
- 42:44Speaker 1: without a paddle. Yanni's blank. Correct answer is stepbrothers. In
- 42:49Speaker 1: the film, Derek explains that he wasn't able to attend
- 42:53Speaker 1: his mother's wedding to Dale's father because he was fishing
- 42:56Speaker 1: in the southern part of the Gulf with Mark Cuban,
- 42:59Speaker 1: Jeff Probst, Paul Daughtry, and super chef Bobby Flay. It
- 43:03Speaker 1: was insane, he says. It was almost too much. Have
- 43:07Speaker 1: you guys been down to the southern part of the
- 43:09Speaker 1: Gulf when the Bonita run? It's gorgeous. Play the clip, Phil.
- 43:13Speaker 1: God damn it, Dale. Sorry, my flavor text was wrong.
- 43:20Speaker 1: It's Chris Daughtry, not Paul Daughtry. I just think of Daughtry.
- 43:25Speaker 1: All right, well, that's question 10. So, Phil, can we
- 43:29Speaker 1: have a scoreboard update here?
- 43:30Speaker 4: Giannis wins with seven points.
- 43:33Speaker 1: Hey! Today's winner is Giannis Petelis with seven points. To
- 43:39Speaker 1: which worthy cause would you like to donate your $ 500 prize?
- 43:44Speaker 2: Uh, let's give it to, um, the Colorado's Coloradans for
- 43:52Speaker 2: responsible wildlife management.
- 43:54Speaker 1: Yes.
- 43:54Speaker 2: They have an amendment on the ballot on November 3rd to, uh,
- 44:00Speaker 2: make a, uh, make hunting and fishing a constitutional right
- 44:03Speaker 2: in the state. And, um, From the research I've been
- 44:06Speaker 2: doing and the educating I've been doing, the antis are
- 44:10Speaker 2: doing a really good job of putting out the propaganda
- 44:14Speaker 2: to make people believe that this isn't a good thing.
- 44:17Speaker 2: And then somehow there's actually hunters and anglers possibly for
- 44:21Speaker 2: not having it a constitutional right in the Colorado Constitution.
- 44:25Speaker 2: So anyways, if you're in Colorado, go and talk to
- 44:29Speaker 2: somebody about why this is a good thing. Vote for 83.
- 44:34Speaker 1: Go to SaveTheHuntColorado.com for more information. A worthy cause, Giannis.
- 44:39Speaker 1: Congratulations on your victory.
- 44:41Speaker 2: Thanks for a great episode, Randall.
