- 0:00Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garrett. Well, it's incredible to say
- 0:06Speaker 1: this because four years ago today, on January sixth, twenty
- 0:12Speaker 1: twenty one, I never thought that four years later, President
- 0:20Speaker 1: Elect Trump would be certified on the same day he
- 0:26Speaker 1: basically left Mike Pence out to dry four years ago
- 0:31Speaker 1: when he you know, don't certify by it. The political
- 0:35Speaker 1: comeback today is so worth talking about the one leg
- 0:40Speaker 1: up on news because I think the Congress did right
- 0:44Speaker 1: to reselect Speaker Johnson. He's bipartisan, He's someone that can
- 0:54Speaker 1: navigate the field. I don't care if Trump backed him
- 0:57Speaker 1: or not. I mean that's a big factor in all
- 0:59Speaker 1: this too. But he has led Congress I think better
- 1:05Speaker 1: than other speakers. Now do I follow Congress every day,
- 1:10Speaker 1: not particularly, but I know enough about Mike Johnson's grit
- 1:16Speaker 1: and fight to do what's right. I mean, look, they
- 1:19Speaker 1: were about to put in that bill that was billions
- 1:25Speaker 1: more and didn't Speaker Johnson put a stop to that
- 1:28Speaker 1: and say no, let's go back to the table on this,
- 1:31Speaker 1: let's work on this. Then they approved the bill that
- 1:35Speaker 1: prevented the government shut down. But he was the stop
- 1:38Speaker 1: gap for that. He has a way of reaching both
- 1:46Speaker 1: parties that it's even more a little more finesse than
- 1:51Speaker 1: than McCarthy. But it works. And so was Speaker Johnson
- 1:58Speaker 1: selected and there was no chaos, There was no fifteen rounds.
- 2:01Speaker 1: It was just Johnson selected. Today, the biggest political comeback
- 2:09Speaker 1: in our history will have been well, I guess the
- 2:13Speaker 1: inauguration would be completed, but will have been taking another
- 2:16Speaker 1: step toward completion because of the certification. My only gripe
- 2:26Speaker 1: about President Trump's involvement in January sixth, twenty twenty one
- 2:31Speaker 1: was always that he had this fiery, rousing speech ahead
- 2:37Speaker 1: of the certification and he said I will march the
- 2:43Speaker 1: Capitol with That was just the most ridiculous comment I
- 2:48Speaker 1: thought he would say. I thought he did say. But
- 2:54Speaker 1: in four years, you're gonna maybe dis like this and
- 3:01Speaker 1: take another star off my following in four years, he
- 3:05Speaker 1: seems like the option to get us back on track.
- 3:13Speaker 1: So my prayer for Washington today January sixth, twenty twenty one,
- 3:18Speaker 1: exactly two weeks away from inauguration day, is that we
- 3:24Speaker 1: don't have a repeat of four years ago. Is that
- 3:31Speaker 1: the certification process can be peaceful, And is that this tradition,
- 3:43Speaker 1: this not even just tradition. It's a constitutional act of
- 3:49Speaker 1: certification just moves our country along into twenty twenty five.
- 4:01Speaker 1: So while I'm kind of wrapped up on the fact
- 4:03Speaker 1: that Brian Dable's back, and I'm so happy about that,
- 4:06Speaker 1: the Dable dynamic for the Giants is much needed, by
- 4:10Speaker 1: the way, he just needs the right fit quarterback, I'm
- 4:17Speaker 1: also keeping an eye on what happens today in Washington
- 4:23Speaker 1: because it's just it's almost an exciting day because it's
- 4:27Speaker 1: another step toward our democracy working. Certification of an election
- 4:32Speaker 1: is something the founding fathers, you know, will be proud
- 4:37Speaker 1: of me. I don't know if they cooked it up per se,
- 4:39Speaker 1: but they laid the foundation for this, and it's another
- 4:44Speaker 1: act of our democracy and a republic. And so I
- 4:49Speaker 1: cannot be excited when the next present whoever was elected,
- 4:53Speaker 1: I mean, come on, whatever, but whoever was elected, how
- 4:56Speaker 1: can you not be excited for the certification to happen today.
- 5:01Speaker 1: It's a historical day because it's a day in which
- 5:08Speaker 1: we say, and specifically Vice President Kamala Harris says when
- 5:13Speaker 1: she certifies the election, now we can move forward as
- 5:16Speaker 1: a country. And that's the biggest thing every four years
- 5:21Speaker 1: about the certification. Now, I'm a little young, but I'm
- 5:27Speaker 1: pretty sure that this is also the the anniversary, of course,
- 5:38Speaker 1: on January sixth, nineteen seventy seven, when Carter was certified
- 5:42Speaker 1: as the president, and his spirit will be largely present,
- 5:51Speaker 1: I think the next week, especially with the state funeral
- 5:54Speaker 1: this upcoming Thursday. The attention is not really on the
- 6:00Speaker 1: certification today because of the loss of Jimmy Carter and
- 6:04Speaker 1: because of other things, the NOLA attack. But let's not
- 6:10Speaker 1: lose sight of what's happening today in Washington, a certification
- 6:17Speaker 1: of an election in which not only did President Trump
- 6:20Speaker 1: win the electoral vote, he won the popular vote. This
- 6:25Speaker 1: man won the popular vote. That's how far away the
- 6:30Speaker 1: America want to run away from the Biden administration. I
- 6:33Speaker 1: don't even think it's come out of they want to
- 6:34Speaker 1: run away from Baby, but I think they want to
- 6:37Speaker 1: run away from the entire Biden era and it send
- 6:44Speaker 1: all of them home. And with this certification today that
- 6:50Speaker 1: will be possible. And while I believe this will be
- 6:57Speaker 1: a peaceful day, and while I've softened up on the
- 7:03Speaker 1: idea that it was all President Trump's fault four years ago,
- 7:06Speaker 1: because the Capitol police looked like they were letting people
- 7:09Speaker 1: into the Capitol. Uh. There have been others that have
- 7:15Speaker 1: faced less stringency, stringent penalty and consequences in the last
- 7:22Speaker 1: four years. Uh since that day. Don't get me wrong,
- 7:29Speaker 1: it was a disgraceful day for America. But if there
- 7:35Speaker 1: were not backups there, if there were Capitol police people
- 7:40Speaker 1: letting in these trespassers, then how is that all Trump's fault?
- 7:49Speaker 1: That's where I've sort of lessened that blow. And while
- 8:01Speaker 1: I did right in Tulsi Gabbard, I think she's gonna
- 8:07Speaker 1: be apartment administration. That just gets us back on track.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I really honestly do. So let's make the certification a
- 8:19Speaker 1: peaceful process today. And and I was gonna explad on
- 8:24Speaker 1: that and say, while that might be peaceful, we have
- 8:27Speaker 1: to keep a look on how the international stage is
- 8:31Speaker 1: faring once Trump gets it. We just gave before the
- 8:35Speaker 1: new year Ukraine six billion dollars in addition to letting
- 8:42Speaker 1: them blow up Russia as they want to. So what's
- 8:45Speaker 1: the play there? What is Biden trying to cook up
- 8:49Speaker 1: before he leaves office? I hope it is still a
- 8:59Speaker 1: piece will transfer power, and that transfer starts today with
- 9:05Speaker 1: the certification. A president elect Donald Trump as the forty
- 9:10Speaker 1: seventh President of the United States. We should all be
- 9:15Speaker 1: keeping an eye on that as history continues to unfold
- 9:20Speaker 1: in this great country we know as the United States
- 9:24Speaker 1: of America.
