• 1:20
Speaker 1: The Texas Elite Auto Showcase, which is a brand new car show, first ever, uh, at coming up at nrg center.
• 1:30
Speaker 1: Yep and um, are you excited about it?
• 1:34
Speaker 1: Yeah, I know you've been working your butt.
• 1:36
Speaker 1: Oh gosh, dude, you forgot.
• 1:39
Speaker 1: You forgot what it was like.
• 1:41
Speaker 1: You know, I have to tell you that one of the first events that I ever went to with my old 1977 corvette was a car show that he had at his original speed and sport location at the corner of fondren and the southwest freeway and the entire parking lot.
• 2:01
Speaker 1: Now that's a strip center, but it also had a kmart in the back of it.
• 2:05
Speaker 1: Back there Filled up this entire enormous parking lot.
• 2:10
Speaker 1: Traffic jam out front.
• 2:11
  Speaker 2: Freeway was clogged.
• 2:13
Speaker 1: Yeah, and somebody actually brought a nitro car there.
• 2:17
Speaker 1: I remember them starting it in the parking lot.
• 2:20
Speaker 4: Oh my God those were the days it was chaos.
• 2:23
Speaker 4: Yeah, we had 1,200 cars show up to that 1,200.
• 2:28
Speaker 4: 1,200 cars in that park.
• 2:30
Speaker 2: What year was it?
• 2:31
Speaker 1: What year was it?
• 2:31
  Speaker 1: Oh gosh 78, 9?
• 2:35
Speaker 4: I thought it was in the 40s.
• 2:36
  Speaker 4: Yeah, I know.
• 2:37
Speaker 1: It seems like that, but it was nuts, it was unreal, it was, and so this show.
• 2:45
Speaker 1: Well, you've had several shows since then, but they were more along the lines of parking lot shows.
• 2:52
Speaker 1: That kind of was a thing for speed and sport.
• 2:57
Speaker 1: Nothing indoors, indoors, is a whole Another level, yeah, much bigger level, and you got the guy helping you with this steve green, who's friend of ours, and met him through autorama.
• 3:08
Speaker 1: Yes, and he's very well schooled at how to do these indoor shows.
• 3:14
Speaker 1: He knows more than anybody when it comes to it.
• 3:16
Speaker 1: Yeah and uh, checking in car, you know there's a whole thing when you go to an indoor car any kind of car show really not I'm talking about a cruise in, but I'm talking about a real honest-to-God car show.
• 3:26
Speaker 1: There's parking, you know, there's taking tickets, there's people registering for the stuff.
• 3:32
Speaker 1: I mean, there's a whole layer of stuff that most people don't Car inspections.
• 3:36
Speaker 1: All that, yeah, that people don't really know about, but this is really a first at NRG Center.
• 3:45
  Speaker 4: That's right.
• 3:45
Speaker 4: And the way this started is Steve had been running the Autorama for 17 years and I've been doing it for probably 25 or something.
• 3:54
Speaker 4: But it's Thanksgiving weekend, you know you want to be with your family.
• 3:59
Speaker 4: It's a cool show, but it's four days and it's tough.
• 4:04
  Speaker 4: It really is.
• 4:04
Speaker 4: So we thought, you know, we're both kind of burned out on getting old.
• 4:07
Speaker 4: We're going to put our own show on at NRG and it's just a two-day show.
• 4:11
  Speaker 4: Two-day show.
• 4:13
Speaker 3: Yeah, because for Steve Autorama starts years, but I mean he moves in Him and his team.
• 4:18
Speaker 3: I think he told me they move in on Monday night.
• 4:21
Speaker 3: That's right and they're there until the following Monday morning.
• 4:24
Speaker 4: Yeah, so they're like three weeks Got a crew of about 15 people.
• 4:27
Speaker 4: Those 15 are with me and him.
• 4:31
Speaker 4: Now they don't work for Autorama anymore, so we're Really.
• 4:35
  Speaker 4: Absolutely.
• 4:36
Speaker 4: Is Steve still going to do Autorama?
• 4:38
Speaker 4: Yeah, because when you run Autorama it's his crew.
• 4:41
Speaker 4: The guy that owns Autorama paid Steve.
• 4:45
Speaker 4: He don't care who he brings.
• 4:46
Speaker 4: It's up to Steve to do everything.
• 4:47
Speaker 4: So all those everything are all on.
• 4:51
Speaker 3: Steve, so he brought all his people, because the office is Dallas and I think some of them go up there.
• 4:55
Speaker 4: None of those will he be doing anymore.
• 4:57
Speaker 4: He's put all his time in there.
• 4:58
Speaker 4: We already got a guy that wants us to do a show in Dallas already, oh wow.
• 5:01
Speaker 4: But we in Dallas already, oh wow, we're trying to do our first show here at first yeah.
• 5:04
  Speaker 4: Really.
• 5:05
Speaker 1: You didn't tell me about that, yeah.
• 5:07
Speaker 4: I got a guy that sees breaking news.
• 5:09
Speaker 3: He knows the guy Breaking news.
• 5:11
Speaker 4: Yeah, Quality-wise, much, much higher quality than Autorama.
• 5:17
Speaker 4: It's a different style of a car too.
• 5:20
  Speaker 2: Yes.
• 5:20
Speaker 2: What do we expect to see there?
• 5:22
Speaker 2: What makes it different?
• 5:23
Speaker 4: Well, we thought we would mix in some exotic cars and found out that's kind of a different breed of people the exotic and we will have some.
• 5:34
Speaker 1: Well, you're part of that exotic.
• 5:35
Speaker 1: Yeah, you've got some collection.
• 5:36
  Speaker 1: You're definitely different.
• 5:38
Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure, I mean, I can say that You're here.
• 5:45
  Speaker 4: That's right.
• 5:46
Speaker 4: But I think we're going to have, you know, we're going to have a good, good amount of cars there and if you've ever been to Autorama you know the bigger cars in the front have what they call a 20 by 20 display in the front, not a 10 by 20.
• 5:59
  Speaker 4: A 20 by 20.
• 6:01
Speaker 4: That's usually with carpet and mirrors and all that.
• 6:04
Speaker 4: Turntables, oh yeah all that Well, at Autorama there's usually about 10 in the front and three or four spread out.
• 6:09
  Speaker 4: They have 13 to 15.
• 6:11
Speaker 4: We have registered right now those we have 45 of those already registered at our show.
• 6:17
  Speaker 2: And it's 20 by 20.
• 6:17
  Speaker 4: 20 by 20s.
• 6:18
  Speaker 4: I mean it's beyond belief.
• 6:20
Speaker 4: The quality is definitely the best car show, finest car show indoors ever in the state of Texas.
• 6:28
  Speaker 1: Well, it's a different crowd.
• 6:31
Speaker 1: You know, I look at Autorama as kind of like anybody and everybody.
• 6:37
Speaker 1: If you had, you know, mom's 95 Buick century, you could enter it in Autorama.
• 6:48
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's gotten that way.
• 6:50
Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, I mean, and it's kind of evolved that way because, quite honestly, a lot of people that are like our age are not really adding to the collection or showing stuff, and so you kind of got to go with what shows up well, he said that you know it's not a crowd.
• 7:13
  Speaker 2: I wouldn't call it a crowd.
• 7:13
Speaker 2: I call it a different brand of enthusiasts because there are different levels of car shows and different level of car owners.
• 7:21
Speaker 2: You got a guy that's maybe a japanese domestic or maybe an old nova, and then you've got your ferraris and your lamborghinis and your porsches.
• 7:30
Speaker 2: So there's a different grade of classical showing and this show is.
• 7:36
Speaker 4: this show we're having is 90 classic and hot rods, but if you go to all around me, there is 0% of exotics in there.
• 7:44
Speaker 4: This is 10% probably, and what we will have there I'm sure very few people have ever seen.
• 7:50
  Speaker 4: There'll be a Pagani there.
• 7:51
  Speaker 4: That's about a $6 million car.
• 7:53
Speaker 1: Well, you know who your connection to all that is.
• 7:55
  Speaker 1: There's John Gray.
• 7:59
Speaker 4: Actually it was over at the asylum.
• 8:02
  Speaker 4: Jeff Pate, remember.
• 8:03
Speaker 4: Yeah, that's where he is.
• 8:05
Speaker 4: Oh, I see that's where these upper end cars came from.
• 8:09
Speaker 4: Where is the asylum?
• 8:10
  Speaker 4: It's over on?
• 8:11
  Speaker 4: What is that?
• 8:12
Speaker 4: Something like Renwick around Bel Air Boulevard or something like that.
• 8:15
Speaker 3: It's in Bel Air, I think.
• 8:16
Speaker 4: Yeah, we'll go there all the time.
• 8:18
Speaker 1: Kind of where Ken and Gary neighbors used to have their shop.
• 8:20
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, there you go Close to Gary Gotcha and just got to remember.
• 8:25
Speaker 4: Anybody wants to enter.
• 8:26
Speaker 4: We can still enter, we've still got time, it's three weeks away.
• 8:29
Speaker 4: But when you show you can only have a, you know, versus an outdoor show, you can only have a quarter tank of gas or you're not getting in Right.
• 8:36
Speaker 4: Fire marshal, fire marshal, yeah.
• 8:52
Speaker 1: Well that's right at an upper, upper level and god knows, I had to learn the hard way.
• 8:58
Speaker 1: And, matter of fact, I remember seeing your old corvette, the one that was painted pearl white, yeah, on the turntable at the very first Albert Thomas Convention Center.
• 9:10
Speaker 1: Yeah, the Albert Thomas Convention Center, the Texas Corvette.
• 9:15
  Speaker 4: Expo, expo.
• 9:16
  Speaker 1: Yep, and he.
• 9:17
Speaker 1: You know Mr Smooth Talker over here.
• 9:20
Speaker 1: What does he do?
• 9:21
Speaker 1: He gets the top spot.
• 9:23
Speaker 1: So you come up on the escalator, he goes up on the second floor.
• 9:26
Speaker 1: You can imagine the logistics of all those cars there.
• 9:29
Speaker 1: Come up the escalator and you get off the escalator and whose car do you see?
• 9:33
Speaker 1: His on a turntable.
• 9:35
Speaker 1: It's like, oh my god, gleaming.
• 9:38
Speaker 1: Gleaming, of course, but every attention to detail that you could imagine in most of the Corvettes that were there Mine.
• 9:45
Speaker 1: I had no clue what I was doing, didn't know how to show a car.
• 9:49
Speaker 1: I had the hood closed, I had the doors closed, the windows rolled up and the car locked.
• 9:57
Speaker 3: So nobody could see in it?
• 9:58
Speaker 3: No, nobody could see in it.
• 10:00
Speaker 2: Speaking of faux pas.
• 10:01
Speaker 2: Don Armstrong, what are you showing?
• 10:06
Speaker 2: What is your personal collection?
• 10:07
Speaker 4: going to be like I don't think I have time.
• 10:09
Speaker 4: I don't think I'm going to be able to have time to bring anything.
• 10:12
  Speaker 2: Really.
• 10:13
Speaker 4: Let me tell you that a lot of changes in the show versus Autorama and you all will know this.
• 10:18
  Speaker 4: Some people don't.
• 10:18
Speaker 4: They're going to put you in a classification when you come in, right, so you say you're restored.
• 10:24
  Speaker 4: You're from 64 to 70.
• 10:25
Speaker 4: There's a million classes, not us.
• 10:28
  Speaker 4: Everybody's against everybody.
• 10:32
Speaker 4: And there is no classes.
• 10:33
Speaker 4: We have professional judges Top 100, win, top 100.
• 10:39
Speaker 4: And then you still have your best truck, best engine, best paint, best display, best rod, best, everything but the top 100 win.
• 10:47
Speaker 4: So the Ferrari is against the 64 Nova, everybody's against everybody, right?
• 10:56
Speaker 3: So do you vet these vehicles before you say yeah, we accept your registration.
• 11:00
Speaker 4: They have to send in a photograph of the car when you register and then Steve will do that part.
• 11:07
Speaker 4: He would say no or yay or whatever.
• 11:12
Speaker 1: So you can't bring Mom's Buick Century in, or what?
• 11:17
Speaker 4: was we talking about there, chrysler?
• 11:18
Speaker 4: We get no fires in that place, so don't bring the minivan.
• 11:22
Speaker 4: Don't bring the minivan because we prefer no fires in there, no thermal events Exactly.
• 11:27
Speaker 1: Well, I think that you have to.
• 11:28
Speaker 1: I don't even know how you would do an electric car, because in most instances you have to disconnect the battery.
• 11:34
  Speaker 1: That's right.
• 11:34
Speaker 1: Well, how do you do that in?
• 11:36
Speaker 4: an electric car that I don't know.
• 11:38
Speaker 3: I don't know, be interesting to see if you'll have any show up.
• 11:43
Speaker 1: It may have the Tesla show up.
• 11:45
Speaker 1: What are you going to do then?
• 11:46
Speaker 1: I don't know what would the fire marshal do?
• 11:50
Speaker 4: Who's going to make that decision?
• 11:52
  Speaker 4: Not me, yeah.
• 11:53
Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I'm sorry.
• 11:54
Speaker 4: But it's going to be a real good show.
• 11:56
Speaker 4: It really is Quality is going to be beyond belief, yeah.
• 12:00
Speaker 4: And then we have celebrities there.
• 12:01
Speaker 4: We have Mark Henry, wwe Hall of Fame I'll show up, yeah, that's right.
• 12:05
Speaker 4: And the Hall of Fame wrestler, and he was also the world champion in the Olympics.
• 12:11
Speaker 4: And then we got Joe and Amanda Martin from Iron Resurrections oh, very good, they'll be doing autographs.
• 12:18
Speaker 4: Both those are on Saturday.
• 12:20
  Speaker 1: Both on Saturday.
• 12:21
Speaker 4: Yeah, If you go to Autorama there's a small plaque that's maybe an $8 or $10 plaque.
• 12:26
  Speaker 4: We're giving away $100.
• 12:31
Speaker 4: Everybody that wins gets a minimum of a $100 trophy.
• 12:33
Speaker 4: I can't tell you what they are, I'll surprise you.
• 12:34
Speaker 4: They are real, real nice.
• 12:36
Speaker 4: Did you make them?
• 12:37
Speaker 4: No, Designed it but didn't make them because there's so many of them 140, I think there is trophies total no, 135.
• 12:48
Speaker 1: And you've got some interesting sponsors to sponsor these different categories.
• 12:53
Speaker 4: Yeah, and different money payouts, the big ones we've got Lamborghini will be there, porsche will be there and State Pharma will be there.
• 13:01
Speaker 4: Those are our main, yeah, but I'm talking about the payouts of the category winners the best car there, number one gets the trophy that I built for Autorama many years ago.
• 13:14
Speaker 4: I'm bringing that with me to my show now.
• 13:16
Speaker 4: You get that and $5,000 cash and the trophy's about $5,000.
• 13:21
  Speaker 4: You're getting $10,000.
• 13:22
Speaker 4: All the best-ofs all win $1,000.
• 13:24
  Speaker 4: You're getting $10,000.
• 13:25
Speaker 4: All the best-ofs all win $1,000 cash.
• 13:25
Speaker 4: We have a lot of best-ofs.
• 13:29
Speaker 1: You know, I'm thinking I could get some friends and I could take a cut of what they win.
• 13:35
Speaker 2: It'd take you two years to get those friends.
• 13:36
Speaker 2: It'd take a lifetime, you'd have to buy a lot of beer that ain't working.
• 13:43
Speaker 3: How many cars are you?
• 13:44
Speaker 4: hoping to put in there Anticipating.
• 13:46
Speaker 4: Yeah Well, right now we have 200.
• 13:48
Speaker 4: You know, naturally we'd like to get more and more and more.
• 13:51
  Speaker 3: Sure, sure 200.
• 13:52
Speaker 3: Some of these things take a little bit of time.
• 13:54
Speaker 4: Yeah say, autorama has around 400.
• 13:56
Speaker 4: But remember us, camaros, Mustangs and Corvettes is half of that.
• 14:00
Speaker 3: They, yeah, They've been what?
• 14:02
  Speaker 3: 40 years, 30, 40 years doing it.
• 14:04
Speaker 4: So it's going to take some time.
• 14:05
Speaker 4: This is our first show, but we're very, very excited.
• 14:08
Speaker 2: Yeah for the inaugural 200,.
• 14:09
  Speaker 2: That's great.
• 14:10
Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what I think, and we probably have more than that, because everybody waits the last minute to enter.
• 14:14
Speaker 4: And there's also I don't remember the guy's name, but there's a guy who built a special car truck.
• 14:20
Speaker 4: It's really really cool car truck.
• 14:22
Speaker 4: It's really really cool.
• 14:23
Speaker 4: I'll show you a photo and the owners.
• 14:24
Speaker 4: They're going to debut it to the owner at our show.
• 14:27
  Speaker 1: Oh cool.
• 14:28
Speaker 4: Yeah, it's really cool.
• 14:29
  Speaker 1: The reveal.
• 14:29
Speaker 4: There's more to the story than that Sure sure.
• 14:31
Speaker 4: It's going to be really neat.
• 14:33
Speaker 4: I'll show you a picture of this truck.
• 14:36
  Speaker 1: It's unbelievable.
• 14:36
Speaker 1: Can you say who built the truck?
• 14:39
Speaker 4: No, I don't know we will there, but we have so many different, you know so many different people.
• 14:46
Speaker 3: Yeah, looking at your website, I mean there's a big, long list of stuff.
• 14:49
Speaker 2: So, speaking of websites, how would folks want to check you out and is there a site to get on there?
• 14:55
Speaker 4: Yeah, just go to Texas Elite Auto showcase showcase and then you can register on there.
• 15:02
Speaker 4: You can look or get the time schedule.
• 15:04
Speaker 3: That's right yep, saturday.
• 15:06
Speaker 4: I believe saturday is uh 10 to 8 and sunday is uh 10 to 6 correct.
• 15:15
  Speaker 1: Yeah, so it's a two-day only show.
• 15:16
Speaker 1: Two-day only show how much does it cost to get in?
• 15:19
Speaker 4: it's 20 dollars to get in six and unders free, and to get in Six and under is free, and, one of the great parts for the people that are entering at the Autorama George R Brown, there's no place to park.
• 15:32
Speaker 4: You can't get your trailer in.
• 15:34
Speaker 4: You're sitting in line outdoors, all the parking is right behind it, because it's the same as Barrett Jackson and Meek, and we have all the store your trailer.
• 15:43
Speaker 4: Then we can stage about 40 or 50 cars inside and August the 10th is hot.
• 15:47
Speaker 4: You'll be able to be indoors in the air-conditioned while we're bringing you in.
• 15:53
Speaker 4: It's going to be great.
• 15:54
  Speaker 4: It really is.
• 15:55
Speaker 4: It's going to be great, very exciting.
• 15:57
Speaker 2: Yeah, you've got a little glow about you.
• 16:00
Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know if that's nervous or excited.
• 16:03
Speaker 4: Either that or exhaustion, Exhaustion probably yeah, yeah, yeah, some of that's oh man.
• 16:06
  Speaker 1: I know, I know.
• 16:07
Speaker 1: When I called him the other day he didn't call me.
• 16:10
Speaker 1: Oh man, I got so much going on I don't know what I want to do, he always does, he always sounds all that.
• 16:22
Speaker 4: Yep, and I'm hosting the National Coin Op Convention at my house.
• 16:27
Speaker 4: From people from all over the United States that collect what I collect.
• 16:29
Speaker 4: They're going to be there for the National Convention.
• 16:31
Speaker 4: Really, yeah, and they get to go.
• 16:33
Speaker 4: Guess who I talked to and let them go.
• 16:35
Speaker 4: We toured the top six homes in Houston.
• 16:37
Speaker 4: They have collectibles and I've got John Hovis Hit me high now, wow.
• 16:41
Speaker 3: There you are, oh yeah.
• 16:43
Speaker 4: I'm very happy about that.

Speaker 1: Time now for Jeff's Motor Minute Motor Minute.
• 23:39
Speaker 2: Last week we talked about tires.
• 23:40
Speaker 2: We've been talking about tires for the past few weeks.
• 23:42
Speaker 2: One of the things is for warranties.
• 23:46
Speaker 2: People are asking what kind of warranty does a tire have?
• 23:50
Speaker 2: Well, they come in different types of warranties for different manufacturers.
• 23:54
Speaker 2: Duration and commencement of warranty coverage is the length of the tire.
• 23:59
Speaker 2: Warranty varies across manufacturers and models.
• 24:02
Speaker 2: Warranty periods start from the date of purchase.
• 24:05
Speaker 2: If there's no receipt, If you don't have a receipt for the tires and you've got a warranty issue, they go off the date of the tire when the tire was manufactured.
• 24:12
Speaker 4: I thought that was pretty interesting.
• 24:14
Speaker 2: Mileage and treadwear warranties are explained differently.
• 24:18
Speaker 2: It's important to realize these warranties do not guarantee that the tire will last for the stated mileage.
• 24:23
Speaker 2: So if it says a 60,000-mile warranty tire probably not going to last that because there's other things involved with air inflation, the way you drive it, the car itself and so on.
• 24:34
Speaker 2: Road hazard warranty coverage.
• 24:36
Speaker 1: So wait a minute.
• 24:36
Speaker 1: So what you're saying is that if you have a 60,000-mile warranty on the car, that's stated On a tire On a tire, right yeah, the 60,000-mile warranty and you don't make it there.
• 24:49
Speaker 2: You don't make it there you don't make it there because, you know, maybe your tires weren't inflated, right, but you have no way of proving that you didn't under-inflate it.
• 24:57
Speaker 2: It's up to that tire warranty specifics on what they're calling a warranty.
• 25:02
Speaker 2: But then you've got road hazards.
• 25:03
Speaker 2: Road hazard is commonly the bumps and dings you get on the rough terrains and things of that nature.
• 25:08
Speaker 2: Commonly, uh, the bumps and dings you get on the on the rough terrains and things of that nature.
• 25:10
Speaker 2: Uh, uniformity, uniformity, warranties is like, uh, you're driving it and you get a lot of vibration.
• 25:15
Speaker 2: Those aren't covered, uh, normally through a warranty, but you can return the tire a certain period of time.
• 25:21
Speaker 2: So check your warranty, check the manufacturer, check who you're buying it from, because they'll offer it as well uh.
• 25:27
Speaker 1: Car repossessions rocketed higher in the first half of the year, a sign of rising consumer distress.
• 25:34
Speaker 1: As the US Federal Reserve weighs interest rate cuts so far in 2024, repos are up 23% compared with the same period last year, according to data from Cox Automotive.
• 25:46
Speaker 1: With high interest rates and inflation-hitting household budgets, the spike in seizures provides a window into the average consumer's financial health at a key time for policymakers.
• 25:57
Speaker 1: The average interest rate for a new car is currently 7.3% and for a used car it's 11.5%.
• 26:05
Speaker 1: Wow, that's, according to Edmunds.
• 26:06
Speaker 1: That means monthly bills are now ready $739 a month for a new car and $549 for a used car on average.
• 26:18
Speaker 1: Yeah, I had no clue.
• 26:20
