  SPEAKER_00: It just proves how underrated the show is that I didn't have it on the docket, and it's probably one of the better shows that has come out.

  SPEAKER_00: Better video game adaptation Fallout or The Last of Us?

  SPEAKER_00: So all of Fallout that we have so far versus just might not be fair, versus that one season, the first season of The Last of Us.

  SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna say Fallout in terms of its actual world translation, and it's not done yet, but it's incorporating a lot of the elements from the game, which is a very vast world.

  SPEAKER_00: To me, um, Fallout is you really don't get much nerdier than that.

  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but Fallout is right there, like it's some super nerdy shit.

  SPEAKER_00: It was just more exploration and like button clicking, as opposed to like you, you know, when you want to sell records, you gotta have the song for the ladies.

  SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I definitely hear you on that in terms of the world building.

  SPEAKER_01: But I will say, in terms of the film aspect, as in the execution and the actors, The Last of Us got it.

  SPEAKER_01: So it's hard to really pick one, but it depends on what you like.

  SPEAKER_00: Like the cinematography was Chef's Kiss, but you can make the argument that they had more to work with.

  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Fallout was kind of one look, you know, for the most part.

  SPEAKER_00: It's desolate, destroyed, everything is bad.

  SPEAKER_00: With yeah, it's more practical stuff with uh The Last of Us.

  SPEAKER_01: So, number one, you have to have had play have played the games to really enjoy and appreciate it.

  SPEAKER_01: For me, as someone who played the games, to see it come to life and them to execute it in such a way that makes you go, oh wow, they they're they're adding in the death clause, adding in the zombies, they're not the zombies, but the you know the pharaohs, the ghouls.

  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they're adding in the brotherhood, all these different things that you experience in the game, you're seeing it come to life.

  SPEAKER_01: And then they give you two very intriguing um characters.

  SPEAKER_01: And this is another reason why um I liked Fallout a little better than The Last of Us, but I can see The Last of Us being better overall in terms of film, is they gave you two unknown actors.

  SPEAKER_01: Two main leads of Lucy and Maximus.

  SPEAKER_01: Um, they start you off with Lucy, um, I think in the vault, and they give you this, she gives she does a great job of depicting a very wide-eyed.

  SPEAKER_01: One of my favorite scenes is when she's just like okie dokie and just starts going to it with uh her new husband or whatever, right?

  SPEAKER_01: So it shows you the that she is, she's uh, you know, she what's the word for it?

  SPEAKER_00: Very naive and yeah, the most naive character I've probably seen in a long time.

  SPEAKER_00: But she got some edge turns.

  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, but she's trained well, right?

  SPEAKER_00: And then just to go a little further, you see the progression of she adapts very fast.

  SPEAKER_00: So imagine if she wasn't reluctant to the world that she was in, she probably would have been one of the leaders of one of these factions.

  SPEAKER_00: That's how dope of a character she is, but she's very adapts quick and still finds a way to keep the naivete somehow.

  SPEAKER_01: That's the part that brings you back to the game because your character comes fresh out the vault.

  SPEAKER_00: I think my first fallout um was I think it was New Vegas or Fallout 3.

  SPEAKER_00: And you know, I want to talk about that later about gaming in general, but you once you get out the vault, like it's cockroaches the size of dogs.

  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and the cool part though is that they have the VAT system, I think that's what it's called, where it could kind of slow down time.

  SPEAKER_00: Okay, this is gonna do this much damage, it's gonna do that much damage.

  SPEAKER_00: And then you you see how it goes.

  SPEAKER_00: And the target's still moving, actually.

  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so it does a little bit of uh the the turn-based combat, and it also incorporated the like you can kind of play the game however you want.

  SPEAKER_00: And that's what's dope about you know RPG games.

  SPEAKER_00: So yeah, definitely that.

  SPEAKER_00: So then uh talk to me about um the ghoul, his character.

  SPEAKER_00: And the flashing back and stuff like that.

  SPEAKER_01: So, spoiler alert for those who played the games and watched the show, um, he's actually the the mysterious stranger.

  SPEAKER_00: I didn't know that.

  SPEAKER_01: That's why he wears the trench coat and just shows up and helps you out of nowhere.

  SPEAKER_01: The ghoul's character is great, and I love, again, back to the character development of these three people Maximus, the Ghoul, and Lucy.

  SPEAKER_01: That's great writing for the character, for the actor.

  SPEAKER_01: Because there's two sides.

  SPEAKER_01: So the ghoul, obviously, when once upon a time was the sweetest guy, war veteran, um, actor, yeah, Hollywood, father, husband.

  SPEAKER_01: He was one of those guys, and now he is literally physically and mentally a monster.

  SPEAKER_01: That character's redemption arc from going from that guy.

  SPEAKER_01: We want to know how he became this guy, and now he's returning to that guy by season two, which is absolutely amazing.

  SPEAKER_01: His hairline is crazy, but he he makes me forget that every time he gets on the screen and doesn't.

  SPEAKER_00: So the Maximus story is so dope because he came from, and this is spoilers, obviously.

  SPEAKER_00: He came from a society that was rebuilt inside of this desolate place.

  SPEAKER_00: His dad fixed the water, they finally got all the radiation out of the water.

  SPEAKER_00: Comes from a lineage of genius.

  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so he beautiful black family.

  SPEAKER_00: You saw it.

  SPEAKER_01: I was like, oh, wait, we don't smoke that?

  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so they had a thriving community and they were about to rebuild civilization, and you know, it got bombed.

  SPEAKER_00: We can get to that when we talk about Lucy's uh storyline a little bit more.

  SPEAKER_00: And the person that saved him, or the people that saved him was the Brotherhood.

  SPEAKER_00: And he the it's the knight, it's the power armor.

  SPEAKER_00: So he's just like, Yeah, I aspire to this because not only was it my salvation, but deep down inside, I want to do that for other people.

  SPEAKER_00: And it was just such a heartbreaking scene when his parents uh put him in the fridge or freezer and they knew they were gonna die.

  SPEAKER_00: And as a parent myself, you always think what you would do in those situations, and instinctually you say, Oh, yeah, I'll sacrifice my life for my kid, but you don't truly know unless you're in the moment.

  SPEAKER_00: So it was just so dope seeing his dad go from we think just some like oh nerdy guy that fixed the water to no and powerful father, and he he didn't give like not not no disrespect to the to women or anything out there, but he made the decision for them.

  SPEAKER_00: He told he was like to make a logical decision, yeah.

  SPEAKER_00: Like, son, you go in there, and there was no there's no debate.

  SPEAKER_00: He's the smallest, it's you, your he's the he's the legacy, so yeah, we we lived our lives.

  SPEAKER_00: So that was a really powerful scene, and it just shows you the character that Maximus is and like why the power armor itself means so much to him.

  SPEAKER_00: And then it's so cool how the power armor is essentially the the best thing in the game.

  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, some people just don't use it, it's like almost a cheat code.
