Latest / Michelle Explains Anime, Poorly / 86 [Eighty-Six] Ep. 1- Undertaker
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's your person, Michelle. I guess we're back after
- 0:05Speaker 1: two weeks off. Actually, to be fair, I am actually
- 0:09Speaker 1: recording this episode an entire month before it publishes, because
- 0:15Speaker 1: I don't know. I just had some extra time and
- 0:16Speaker 1: I figured I get a head start. I'm actually doing
- 0:19Speaker 1: it before the last Banana Fish episode airs, so it's
- 0:24Speaker 1: a little bit weird, and hopefully the world is still
- 0:27Speaker 1: around in a month and everything's fine and I'm not
- 0:30Speaker 1: dead and you're not dead, and there's no big news
- 0:33Speaker 1: that I needed to tell you about or something, so yeah, yeah,
- 0:37Speaker 1: everything's fine. I'm sure in a month everything will still
- 0:40Speaker 1: be fine. So I'm just gonna do this now because
- 0:44Speaker 1: I already took notes on the first episode because I'm
- 0:47Speaker 1: all stressed and I needed something to do. I don't
- 0:49Speaker 1: know something like that. Anyway, if you remember, and I'm
- 0:52Speaker 1: sure you do, and I'm sure also you saw the
- 0:53Speaker 1: title of this episode, the new thing that we are,
- 0:57Speaker 1: you know, the anime that we're like talking about is
- 0:59Speaker 1: eighty Remember eighty six. We talked about it briefly. So
- 1:05Speaker 1: I'm actually hoping you're going into this blind because it's
- 1:08Speaker 1: gonna be more interesting that way. But if you're not.
- 1:11Speaker 1: You know, that's okay too. So before we start, we
- 1:14Speaker 1: should just kind of talk about eighty six generally, so
- 1:17Speaker 1: you have some background that kind of stuff, like we
- 1:19Speaker 1: probably do for all of them. I guess. So eighty
- 1:23Speaker 1: six is based on late novels. Well, the first half
- 1:28Speaker 1: is based on the first light novel and they are
- 1:31Speaker 1: by Asato Asato. There are currently thirteen volumes of eighty
- 1:37Speaker 1: six late novels. The last one, the thirteenth one, came
- 1:40Speaker 1: out in Japan on January tenth and twenty twenty four,
- 1:44Speaker 1: so it's about a year old. I didn't write it down,
- 1:46Speaker 1: but I'm pretty sure that the English release was in
- 1:49Speaker 1: December of last year, like December twenty twenty four, so
- 1:53Speaker 1: it's only been out for a little bit for us.
- 1:55Speaker 1: But yeah, so she's still like making them and stuff.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I was looking in to Asato Asato, and it seems
- 2:02Speaker 1: like eighty six is the only light novel series she's
- 2:05Speaker 1: ever done. It's like her first thing. So that's pretty cool, right.
- 2:09Speaker 1: I wish my first things got lots of attention and
- 2:12Speaker 1: people like them. No, I don't. They were bad. I'm
- 2:15Speaker 1: so glad that nobody cared about the things that I wrote.
- 2:20Speaker 1: When I was in high school. Also Asato. Asato was
- 2:22Speaker 1: born in nineteen eighty four, so she is forty. Happy birthday.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I guess it doesn't feel great to be forty, I
- 2:30Speaker 1: understand anyway, So that's kind of the background. The anime
- 2:34Speaker 1: adaptation came out in twenty twenty one. It was two
- 2:38Speaker 1: cores and with a split in the middle, which was
- 2:40Speaker 1: very very stressful for everyone because it ended on a cliffhanger,
- 2:44Speaker 1: and also there was some kind of weirdness at the
- 2:46Speaker 1: end where I believe the last two episodes were super
- 2:49Speaker 1: delayed because of production issues. Yeah, it happens, but it survived,
- 2:55Speaker 1: and it wasn't one of those, you know, adaptations that
- 2:58Speaker 1: fell off super hard and everybody just kind of forgot
- 3:02Speaker 1: about it because the wait was so long, So that's
- 3:04Speaker 1: good anyway. The studio that animated it was a One Pictures,
- 3:09Speaker 1: which you might be familiar with. They have quite an
- 3:12Speaker 1: extensive catalog. I think if you are aware of them
- 3:15Speaker 1: from anything in particular, it's probably sort art online because
- 3:19Speaker 1: they've done all of that. And you know, that was
- 3:20Speaker 1: a really big deal, despite the fact that it was
- 3:23Speaker 1: not so great all the time. But people like it,
- 3:26Speaker 1: and if you like it. That's fine, it's not bad
- 3:29Speaker 1: at all. It's just, you know, didn't really get into
- 3:31Speaker 1: Kittieto's character very much. But that's okay. That's a me problem. Also,
- 3:37Speaker 1: they've done Kagya Sama Loves War, which I really like,
- 3:40Speaker 1: and Erased, which is great, and Solo Leveling is currently
- 3:45Speaker 1: airing and they're doing that, so that's looking really good.
- 3:48Speaker 1: I mean it's looking good. Animation wise, I don't think
- 3:53Speaker 1: that's good. But again that's a me problem. It's just
- 3:57Speaker 1: real fucking boring and characters too edgy, and there's just
- 4:01Speaker 1: nothing to back up the edgy neis with. And I
- 4:04Speaker 1: know you're saying, Michelle, you don't like edgie characters. No,
- 4:07Speaker 1: I do, but they have to have like substance, and
- 4:11Speaker 1: I don't think that Jinwu does. But again, not about
- 4:14Speaker 1: eighty six. So they're a big important studio. As for
- 4:19Speaker 1: the actual crew that worked on eighty six, the director
- 4:23Speaker 1: was Toshiyamaishi and it was his animated series directorial debut.
- 4:28Speaker 1: I actually don't think he's done another one since, and honestly,
- 4:33Speaker 1: he did such a fucking good job. I'd like to
- 4:35Speaker 1: see him do more work. It's very clear in the
- 4:38Speaker 1: anime that he like really cared about the material and
- 4:41Speaker 1: was really set on like doing something big and interesting.
- 4:45Speaker 1: So this is actually one of the few anime that
- 4:49Speaker 1: we've covered that I felt like the production team like
- 4:53Speaker 1: really cared about this and wanted to elevate the source material.
- 4:57Speaker 1: So that's great because yeah, like I said, we don't
- 5:00Speaker 1: do that many of those. I think I would say,
- 5:03Speaker 1: with what we've covered, maybe tengo Hu Daimachio a little bit.
- 5:06Speaker 1: And then also Chainsawman. But Chainsaw Man's weird because it
- 5:09Speaker 1: has this really specific point of view but it's not
- 5:12Speaker 1: how everyone wanted the point of you to be. But whatever.
- 5:14Speaker 1: But in general, as far as I can tell eighty
- 5:17Speaker 1: six fans, you know, people who have read the light
- 5:19Speaker 1: novel like actually really really like this adaptation, so good stuff. Also,
- 5:24Speaker 1: I don't read a lot of light novels. I've read
- 5:27Speaker 1: part of the first one for eighty six, but like
- 5:30Speaker 1: it's light novels really aren't my thing. So I'm probably
- 5:33Speaker 1: gonna comment a little bit less on the source material
- 5:35Speaker 1: than I would in like banana fish or something, which
- 5:38Speaker 1: is a whole other kettle of fish. But yeah, so
- 5:42Speaker 1: back to the production music. So it seems like there
- 5:45Speaker 1: are two different composers who worked on the series. Music wise,
- 5:48Speaker 1: there's Kota Yamamoto and also here Yuki Sawana and here
- 5:54Speaker 1: to Yuki Sowana is probably the one that you might
- 5:56Speaker 1: have heard of before, So here are Yuki Suano. Like,
- 5:59Speaker 1: if you're familiar with him, it would be from probably
- 6:02Speaker 1: Attack on Titan, though we also worked on the music
- 6:04Speaker 1: on Kill a Kill as well, which is pretty cool.
- 6:07Speaker 1: But he was the main composer for the music on
- 6:09Speaker 1: Attack on Titan, so that's probably where you know him from.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Like I just said seconds ago, I think his work
- 6:16Speaker 1: on eighty six is really really good, and I listened
- 6:18Speaker 1: to the soundtrack like a lot sometimes all the time,
- 6:22Speaker 1: so you know that now. And then for series composition,
- 6:26Speaker 1: we have toshia Ona, who hasn't done a lot of
- 6:30Speaker 1: serious composition that I've liked, unfortunately, but I'm sure he's
- 6:34Speaker 1: done stuff that's good. Unfortunately, one of the things that
- 6:37Speaker 1: he was responsible script wise for was Promised Neverland, and
- 6:41Speaker 1: that includes seasons one and two, so I actually just
- 6:44Speaker 1: feel really bad for him, But after you know, watching this,
- 6:49Speaker 1: I'm sure he does a really good job. And it's
- 6:51Speaker 1: just that the whole production of Promise Neverland season two
- 6:54Speaker 1: is a disaster. But yeah, so that's kind of you
- 6:57Speaker 1: know who we're working with right now. And also I
- 7:01Speaker 1: want to point out we have two protagonists. We basically
- 7:04Speaker 1: have dual protagonists in this, and the male protagonist is
- 7:08Speaker 1: voiced by Chiba show Ya, who is Nire from wind
- 7:12Speaker 1: Breaker if you remember him. Not going to sound anything
- 7:15Speaker 1: like him, by the way, so that's pretty cool. And
- 7:17Speaker 1: the female protagonist is voiced by Hasegawa Ikumi, who is
- 7:23Speaker 1: Kohota from Windbreaker as well. So we're doing all wind
- 7:26Speaker 1: Breaker things. And I'm sure you remember that last show
- 7:30Speaker 1: we did Banana Fish, the main character Ash had the
- 7:33Speaker 1: same voice actor as Sakata from Windbreaker. So the common
- 7:37Speaker 1: thread is wind Breaker, which you can watch if you want,
- 7:40Speaker 1: if you haven't seen it already and watched it with
- 7:42Speaker 1: me or not. It's fine anyway. That's pretty much enough
- 7:47Speaker 1: of that. The only other thing I wanted to say
- 7:49Speaker 1: is so this is only the second time we've done
- 7:52Speaker 1: a light novel adaptation anime. The other one we did
- 7:56Speaker 1: was Ree zero, and unlike Ree Zero, the manga adaptation
- 8:02Speaker 1: of eighty six like didn't go very well. It was
- 8:07Speaker 1: adapted by Motoki Yoshihara, but apparently it was canceled due
- 8:12Speaker 1: to their health issues, I guess. But there is still
- 8:16Speaker 1: like a Magical Girl spin off running in monthly Comic Alive,
- 8:21Speaker 1: which is a sane in magazine, which I was really
- 8:23Speaker 1: confused about because I mean, Magical Girl eighty six in
- 8:28Speaker 1: a sane in magazine. I don't know how that works.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I should probably read it, though, because it sounds weird,
- 8:34Speaker 1: which brings me to that this is also san in,
- 8:37Speaker 1: I guess. I guess it's kind of hard with light
- 8:41Speaker 1: novels to figure out demographic but the mango with Sanan,
- 8:44Speaker 1: so I guess we're gonna call it Sanan sure whatever.
- 8:47Speaker 1: The only other saying we've done is Tenghu Dai Machio.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Everything else we have done is either a light novel
- 8:55Speaker 1: like Ree zero or shown In, which we have basically
- 8:57Speaker 1: just covered for the most part, except for which was Showjo,
- 9:02Speaker 1: which if you're wondering why I didn't do another show Jo,
- 9:05Speaker 1: I'm upset with me too. I would like to do
- 9:07Speaker 1: more Shojo, but this is this is what I got
- 9:10Speaker 1: right now for some messed up reason. Anyway, that's basically
- 9:13Speaker 1: what you need to know. I guess maybe not, but
- 9:16Speaker 1: we should probably get going though, because I don't really
- 9:19Speaker 1: have anything else to say about the production, and yeah,
- 9:23Speaker 1: let's just see what happens. So episode one of eighty
- 9:26Speaker 1: six is called Undertaker. Yay. We start in darkness. There's
- 9:33Speaker 1: kind of like a whirring sound, something mechanical, definitely, and
- 9:38Speaker 1: then from the darkness appear like two glowing red lines
- 9:43Speaker 1: running parallel into the distance, like very clearly going off
- 9:47Speaker 1: to a horizon. We start to get a little bit
- 9:50Speaker 1: of light and we can see that the things that
- 9:52Speaker 1: are running parallel and have the red glowingness to them
- 9:56Speaker 1: are train tracks, and red light is I guess shining
- 9:59Speaker 1: on them somewhere, but we can't see it. We are
- 10:03Speaker 1: in first person perspective from something, and we are advancing
- 10:08Speaker 1: forward very quickly, and you know, either on these rails
- 10:12Speaker 1: or around them somewhere. A voice says Handler wants to
- 10:15Speaker 1: undertake her multiple enemy interceptor groups at points thirty and fifty,
- 10:20Speaker 1: battalion sized units of lows and growl wolves. I don't
- 10:24Speaker 1: know how to pronounce some of these things. They're kind
- 10:25Speaker 1: of skewing a little bits German, and that's not one
- 10:29Speaker 1: of my strong suits. So I'm sorry if I butcher
- 10:32Speaker 1: the names of weird things in this. At this point,
- 10:37Speaker 1: our view finally lifts and we're still going forward on
- 10:41Speaker 1: these tracks, but we can see the horizon now and
- 10:44Speaker 1: it's kind of desolate. There's lots of like sand, and
- 10:48Speaker 1: the sun is coming up on the horizon or going down,
- 10:52Speaker 1: I don't know. And the voice continues, all units advance
- 10:55Speaker 1: immediately and take them out. We are still looking at
- 10:58Speaker 1: the same scene, just kind of moving towards like these
- 11:01Speaker 1: low mountains or hills, and there are white lights off
- 11:04Speaker 1: in the distance, and there are utility poles kind of
- 11:07Speaker 1: running along the side. It's very clearly like a place
- 11:11Speaker 1: that's used for something. Anyway, the voice is continuing to talk.
- 11:15Speaker 1: It's a male voice, by the way, and it says,
- 11:18Speaker 1: though with that many of them, I bet you're all
- 11:20Speaker 1: gonna die, and you're like chuckles what We now see
- 11:23Speaker 1: a mech thing like past the camera. It's kind of
- 11:26Speaker 1: like a low like it doesn't stand up like a
- 11:29Speaker 1: person mech. It's kind of like like a car, but
- 11:31Speaker 1: with legs. Maybe it's white. Anyway, it passes the camera
- 11:37Speaker 1: and it's now in front of us, and it's got
- 11:39Speaker 1: like its legs running down the track and more of
- 11:43Speaker 1: these same type of mechs past the camera and they
- 11:46Speaker 1: kick up dust, and the voice continues, go hurry. The
- 11:51Speaker 1: camera starts to rotate around the mechs and they are
- 11:54Speaker 1: under fire and they're shooting back. They have big guns
- 11:57Speaker 1: on them. The voice continues, go pig fight until you
- 12:01Speaker 1: break eighty six what We lose sight of the mechs
- 12:06Speaker 1: as the dust like kicks up, and then one of
- 12:09Speaker 1: them charges forward and passes us, and we get a
- 12:12Speaker 1: shot of the insignia that is painted on the side
- 12:16Speaker 1: of it, which is a headless skeleton carrying a shovel,
- 12:19Speaker 1: which is pretty cool. And now they are engaging these
- 12:22Speaker 1: other mech things in battle and they're like getting shot at,
- 12:27Speaker 1: and the guy that we keep hearing is just like
- 12:29Speaker 1: fucking laughing, which is very disconcerting, and then he says,
- 12:34Speaker 1: what's this. He starts like breathing really really hard, and
- 12:38Speaker 1: he's like, hey, stop it. Combat is just kind of
- 12:42Speaker 1: continuing not paying him any mind, and he is panicking
- 12:45Speaker 1: and he's like stop it, stay away, shut up, shut up,
- 12:48Speaker 1: and he is just like screaming and panicking. And one
- 12:51Speaker 1: of the mechs kind of is up high on something
- 12:53Speaker 1: and jumps towards one of the enemy mechs to engage it,
- 12:56Speaker 1: and as it passes, we see the pilot inside the cockpit.
- 13:00Speaker 1: It's a younger looking guy with brown or black hair,
- 13:04Speaker 1: and one of his like crimson red eyes is lit
- 13:06Speaker 1: blue by like this bluetooth device on his ear. He
- 13:10Speaker 1: looks really resolved and stoic. We continue to pull in
- 13:15Speaker 1: on his eye, and then we go into his pupil
- 13:18Speaker 1: and the screaming stops, and we see the show title card,
- 13:21Speaker 1: a black screen with white letters eighty six day. We
- 13:25Speaker 1: did it. We made it to the title card. So
- 13:31Speaker 1: take a breath. It's gonna get calmer. Next, we are
- 13:35Speaker 1: looking out a window at a blue sky and there's vegetation,
- 13:40Speaker 1: kind of treetops and buildings in the distance. Looks like
- 13:42Speaker 1: we're maybe looking at a city, kind of slightly high up,
- 13:45Speaker 1: so maybe we're in an apartment or something. Some white
- 13:48Speaker 1: birds are flying by, and then we see kind of
- 13:51Speaker 1: closer to us, not quite at the window, are some
- 13:54Speaker 1: like white lilies kind of out of frame. Partially it's quiet.
- 14:00Speaker 1: We hear kind of rustling movement, and then we see
- 14:04Speaker 1: legs getting out of a bed and the feet slide
- 14:07Speaker 1: into slippers. Whoever it is is obscured still, but they
- 14:11Speaker 1: stand up and they walk out a frame. It's probably
- 14:14Speaker 1: a woman though, because they're wearing a night down. Then
- 14:16Speaker 1: we cut to a shelf with some pictures on it.
- 14:19Speaker 1: There's one of a white haired family, a mother, father,
- 14:22Speaker 1: and like a young girl. There's one of four there.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Really it's supposed to be silver, silver haired women, and
- 14:28Speaker 1: they're all in like uniforms, like they look like military uniforms,
- 14:31Speaker 1: and they're smiling. And then we see a woman putting
- 14:35Speaker 1: on a blue uniform that looks like it's a military
- 14:37Speaker 1: uniform like from the pictures. We still don't see her face,
- 14:41Speaker 1: but she is wearing a very short skirt for some reason,
- 14:45Speaker 1: and she has like thigh high socks on, which seemed
- 14:47Speaker 1: not super appropriate for the military, but hey, it's not
- 14:50Speaker 1: my military. She walks over to the window and she
- 14:53Speaker 1: salutes silently too, I don't know, like the flowers or
- 14:57Speaker 1: something or herself in the window, not really sure. She
- 15:00Speaker 1: turns and we see that she has long silver it
- 15:04Speaker 1: looks kind of like whitish but silver hair, and her
- 15:08Speaker 1: eyes are also silver, and she looks super fucking serious.
- 15:13Speaker 1: We hear her leave the room and some petals fall
- 15:16Speaker 1: off the flowers. Next, we have an exterior shot of
- 15:20Speaker 1: like a big white castley thing or mansion, and under
- 15:24Speaker 1: it on the screen it says May thirteenth, Stellar You're
- 15:26Speaker 1: twenty one forty eight, so I guess we are in
- 15:29Speaker 1: the future, but I don't know what stellar year is,
- 15:32Speaker 1: So like, are we, you know, one hundred and some
- 15:35Speaker 1: change years in the future or did we start over
- 15:38Speaker 1: with like a new year system and it's even further
- 15:42Speaker 1: I don't know, but twenty one forty eight regardless. We
- 15:45Speaker 1: then see a shot of a record playing on a turntable,
- 15:49Speaker 1: and then eggs and two slices of bacon, which are
- 15:51Speaker 1: not Canadian bacon but actual bacon, some bread and butter,
- 15:55Speaker 1: and some weirdly shaped colorful things that I don't know
- 15:59Speaker 1: if they're supposed to be, but they might be. And
- 16:02Speaker 1: three pills in like a little bowle that are all
- 16:05Speaker 1: different shapes. Yay, I guess you've got to take your vitamins.
- 16:08Speaker 1: An older, you know, middle aged or so, white haired
- 16:12Speaker 1: woman is sitting across the table. We cannot see who's
- 16:15Speaker 1: sitting on the other side of the table, and she
- 16:17Speaker 1: looks up and size and I assume that the person
- 16:22Speaker 1: on the other side of the table is that girl
- 16:23Speaker 1: that we just met, as we see her eyes and
- 16:25Speaker 1: she looks pretty troubled. Now we go to a cobblestone
- 16:30Speaker 1: street with like ornate white buildings on both sides, and
- 16:33Speaker 1: there's like a trolley or bus thing I can't really tell,
- 16:36Speaker 1: Like it looks like it's connected to wires at the
- 16:38Speaker 1: top and it has wheels, so it's kind of like
- 16:39Speaker 1: a combination or it's just a bus that runs on electricity.
- 16:43Speaker 1: I don't really know, but it's there, and unlike the
- 16:47Speaker 1: scenery that we saw at the beginning of the episode,
- 16:50Speaker 1: it looks peaceful and it looks clean. We see multiple
- 16:55Speaker 1: shots of the city and people there are like some
- 16:58Speaker 1: buskers doing a magic show in the park for some families,
- 17:02Speaker 1: and some people at a cafe, and some people waiting
- 17:05Speaker 1: for a bus. We hear a voice sounds like an
- 17:09Speaker 1: announcement say their weather will be a little worse tomorrow,
- 17:12Speaker 1: but you won't need an umbrella. Have a great weekend everyone.
- 17:16Speaker 1: That girl is waiting at a I guess bus stop now,
- 17:20Speaker 1: or maybe she is waiting at a crosswalk, I'm not
- 17:22Speaker 1: really sure. And she looks solemn, which is such an
- 17:28Speaker 1: interesting contrast because everyone around her looks so happy and
- 17:32Speaker 1: peaceful and relaxed. And also it's important that I mentioned
- 17:36Speaker 1: that everyone has silver hair and silver colored eyes. I mean,
- 17:42Speaker 1: we have all different ages of people, families, older people,
- 17:47Speaker 1: you know, but they all look like they're the same race. Basically,
- 17:52Speaker 1: we hear an announcement coming from somewhere and the girl
- 17:54Speaker 1: looks up and it says, now for today's update on
- 17:57Speaker 1: the war from San Magnolia's Military HQ. Either the light
- 18:01Speaker 1: changes or the bus arrives, and everyone starts to move away,
- 18:04Speaker 1: except for this girl because she is focused on the announcements.
- 18:08Speaker 1: We can now see that she's looking up at a
- 18:10Speaker 1: big screen, like a you know, big led screen thing.
- 18:14Speaker 1: You know. There's a woman also with silver hair and
- 18:17Speaker 1: silver eyes on the screen, and there's also a big
- 18:20Speaker 1: map on the screen behind her, so we can see
- 18:22Speaker 1: what she's talking about. And she says, the legions mechanized
- 18:25Speaker 1: infantry drones belonging to the Gadian Empire that invaded Combat
- 18:29Speaker 1: District seventeen took severe damage from our nation's own unmanned
- 18:33Speaker 1: combat units, the Juggernauts, and were forced to withdraw. Ooh,
- 18:37Speaker 1: they're unmanned that's interesting because I thought we saw a
- 18:39Speaker 1: dude in them. We see an image of the Juggernaut
- 18:43Speaker 1: the mac Now, I guess they're just showing us what
- 18:45Speaker 1: it looks like, and she continues. Damage taken by our
- 18:48Speaker 1: side was minimal, with no human injuries or fatalities combat
- 18:52Speaker 1: with highly advanced, ethically responsible drones. We get a super
- 18:56Speaker 1: close up on the woman's smiling face has resulted in
- 18:59Speaker 1: zero fatal on our side. The girl narrows her eyes.
- 19:04Speaker 1: The woman on the screen continues. The day when our
- 19:07Speaker 1: nation's righteousness finally smashes the evil remnants of that wicked
- 19:10Speaker 1: empire is not far off. The light changes and the
- 19:13Speaker 1: girl turns, and the woman on the screen says glory
- 19:17Speaker 1: to the Republic of San Magnolia and to its five
- 19:20Speaker 1: color flag. We get a shot of the five color
- 19:22Speaker 1: flag and the colors from top to bottom are blue, hot, pink, white, black,
- 19:28Speaker 1: and khaki. I don't know. Then we see an ornate
- 19:31Speaker 1: white building and we get some text on the screen
- 19:34Speaker 1: that says sand Magnolia a military HQ. Okay, fine, A
- 19:39Speaker 1: little bit confused about what's going on, but sure. We
- 19:41Speaker 1: cut to a hand slamming down a beer onto a
- 19:44Speaker 1: table and some dude in a uniform is sleeping while
- 19:48Speaker 1: three other uniform dudes like drink across the table from him,
- 19:51Speaker 1: and everyone is laughing. And there's like a guy carrying
- 19:54Speaker 1: like another guy like with his arm over his shoulder,
- 19:57Speaker 1: like down the hall as he drinks. Yeah, this doesn't
- 20:02Speaker 1: look like a normal work environment, actually, especially not a
- 20:05Speaker 1: military one. The girl, our girl that we've seen so far,
- 20:10Speaker 1: is walking past all of this, and she is about
- 20:13Speaker 1: to pass the drunk dude with the other drunk dude
- 20:15Speaker 1: like over his shoulder, and the drunk dude goes mourning.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Major and our major person doesn't even acknowledge them. She
- 20:23Speaker 1: just keeps walking and she looks real fucking sullen. She
- 20:26Speaker 1: turns her attention to a statue of a woman with
- 20:28Speaker 1: a sword, and we hear a guy say those pigs
- 20:32Speaker 1: were sure crying their heads off yesterday. The major looks
- 20:36Speaker 1: over in his direction angrily. It's three guys sitting at
- 20:39Speaker 1: a table drinking and they're in military uniforms. By the way,
- 20:43Speaker 1: one of the guys says, it was a pretty crazy fight.
- 20:46Speaker 1: I bet at least five of them died. Wait, I
- 20:48Speaker 1: thought nobody died. The second guy says, not that any
- 20:52Speaker 1: people were on board, and then they laugh, excuse me,
- 20:59Speaker 1: there's like a lot of beer, and one of the
- 21:01Speaker 1: guys has his feet on the table. The third guy
- 21:03Speaker 1: looks over at our major person and says, hey, everyone,
- 21:08Speaker 1: the doll loving princess is glaring at us. The second
- 21:11Speaker 1: guy says, why do you look so sad, Major Malise.
- 21:15Speaker 1: It's just a few busted up drones. They all laugh again,
- 21:19Speaker 1: and Major Malise looked pissed. She starts to walk over
- 21:24Speaker 1: to them, and she says, listen you, and then some
- 21:27Speaker 1: woman with shorter hair in like a lab coat like
- 21:29Speaker 1: comes out of nowhere and just blocks her path and
- 21:31Speaker 1: says morning. She looks real fucking tired. Malise is like
- 21:35Speaker 1: mourning a net. You're up early. You normally sleep in,
- 21:40Speaker 1: which is kind of a weird thing to say to
- 21:42Speaker 1: your friend, because I'm sure she knows she sleeps in.
- 21:45Speaker 1: But whatever. This woman in the lab coat a nette
- 21:49Speaker 1: whoa She owns I cannot say yawn without yawning, and
- 21:54Speaker 1: says I was working all night, not like these idiots.
- 21:57Speaker 1: She then starts to walk off. He continues to walk
- 22:00Speaker 1: towards the drunks like she's not backing off here, but
- 22:03Speaker 1: Annette turns back and is like, forget them. She grabs
- 22:07Speaker 1: Melise's hand and leads her off. We now cut to
- 22:10Speaker 1: a shot of beer bottles and trash like floating in
- 22:13Speaker 1: this fountain. I guess in the middle of the room.
- 22:16Speaker 1: I think possibly where the statue was that we talked
- 22:19Speaker 1: about earlier. And Annette says, this isn't the battlefield. We're
- 22:22Speaker 1: inside the grand mirror. They know where they are, thank you,
- 22:25Speaker 1: and the enemy will be on in two years. If anything,
- 22:28Speaker 1: you're the weird overtaking this so seriously. They're going through
- 22:31Speaker 1: security now. Milise says, I just think this country's conscience
- 22:35Speaker 1: has a net cuts her off, right right, I'm not
- 22:38Speaker 1: awake enough to listen to one of your speeches. We
- 22:40Speaker 1: hear a voice say, what's that processor's problem? He's just apart.
- 22:45Speaker 1: He's pissed off whoever it is. They look over and
- 22:48Speaker 1: these two dudes are coming down the escalators, which is cool.
- 22:51Speaker 1: I wish I had escalators. And the other dude says,
- 22:54Speaker 1: that's right. We're from District one. Why do we have
- 22:56Speaker 1: to listen to the bitching from pigs in the eighty
- 22:58Speaker 1: six district? That's the second title drop Yay. He throws
- 23:04Speaker 1: this necklace thing that has like a big brown thing
- 23:06Speaker 1: and it looks like almost a necklace or a collar
- 23:09Speaker 1: or something. He like throws it on the ground, and
- 23:11Speaker 1: Milise looks pissed. Still. Annette size, why do you care
- 23:16Speaker 1: so much about these drones? Lena Horay, she has a
- 23:19Speaker 1: first name, I can stop calling her Malise. Lena says,
- 23:23Speaker 1: they're not drones. Wait are they drones or are they
- 23:26Speaker 1: not drones? I'm so confused. Annette pauses for a second,
- 23:30Speaker 1: and then she's like, I'll try it again. Why do
- 23:33Speaker 1: you care so much about the eighty six? Lena looks
- 23:36Speaker 1: down and then at her hand, and then we hear beeping,
- 23:41Speaker 1: and the beeping weirds me out personally because it is
- 23:44Speaker 1: one of the notification sounds in my phone for emails,
- 23:47Speaker 1: so I immediately check my phone, but it's on the
- 23:50Speaker 1: screen and I feel stupid. Lena looks at her watch,
- 23:54Speaker 1: and Annette says, the battlefield calls milady. Lena walks off.
- 24:00Speaker 1: We see her feet as she walks down the hall,
- 24:02Speaker 1: and there's like lots of chatter in the background because
- 24:05Speaker 1: it seems like everyone's talking constantly because they're also fucking
- 24:09Speaker 1: drunk and a door opens automatically in front of her,
- 24:13Speaker 1: and she walks into a very small dark room and
- 24:16Speaker 1: takes off her hat and sits down in this big
- 24:18Speaker 1: chair like a desk chair or whatever, and there is
- 24:21Speaker 1: a control panel in front of her. She then pulls
- 24:24Speaker 1: the same kind of necklace that we saw that guy
- 24:26Speaker 1: throw on the floor out. It's just got like a
- 24:28Speaker 1: band and then like a I don't know, like bluish
- 24:31Speaker 1: big stone on it or something, and says initiate ID
- 24:35Speaker 1: confirmation Major Vladlina Milize, Eastern Theater Forces Combat District nine,
- 24:41Speaker 1: Defense Line three, UNIE Command and Control Office. That's a
- 24:45Speaker 1: lot of words. We see a sign in screen appear
- 24:49Speaker 1: and it is recording her voice and scanning her retna's
- 24:55Speaker 1: and then it says login complete. At this point, four
- 24:58Speaker 1: large screens turn on with like lots of information and
- 25:01Speaker 1: they're like lighting up the room. There's like maps and
- 25:03Speaker 1: like a roster of people and like it looks like
- 25:06Speaker 1: topography maps and stuff like that, and she puts that
- 25:11Speaker 1: necklace on. We cut to a screen with like red
- 25:14Speaker 1: enemy markings like where their positions are, and there's like
- 25:17Speaker 1: a lot of them, and she says activate, power, raid
- 25:20Speaker 1: synchronization target plates. Is that how we pronounce it? I'm
- 25:24Speaker 1: not sure Plate's processor. I'm gonna just pronounce it like that.
- 25:27Speaker 1: I'm sorry, guys. The necklace stone at the back of
- 25:30Speaker 1: her neck clothes. And then we cut to a screen
- 25:32Speaker 1: with like the roster of I guess, I don't know
- 25:35Speaker 1: robots or whatever this is on it, and it's got
- 25:38Speaker 1: like a bunch of different kinds and it says Plate's
- 25:42Speaker 1: on one of them, and we get like, you know,
- 25:44Speaker 1: their stats, their powers at half, their speed is at
- 25:47Speaker 1: zero four zero in climbing, and alt says point zero
- 25:52Speaker 1: zero zero or something, temperature thirty seven point one, and
- 25:57Speaker 1: power is like a bunch of dots, and then we
- 25:59Speaker 1: see connect. There's a bunch of other names on the
- 26:02Speaker 1: screen that I'm not gonna go all through. But just
- 26:04Speaker 1: two down from Plat's is a unit that says A one,
- 26:08Speaker 1: which I think is funny because A one pictures and
- 26:11Speaker 1: it just says destroyed across the entire bar, so obviously
- 26:16Speaker 1: things is getting destroyed anyway. Lena says synchronization complete Handler
- 26:20Speaker 1: one to Plat's. Glad to be working with you today,
- 26:23Speaker 1: She smiles slightly. We hear some dude who I guess.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Plat's say, Plat's to handler one synchronization channel clear. Lena nods,
- 26:32Speaker 1: be careful, the enemy's in firing range. Be careful, and
- 26:36Speaker 1: Platie's cuts her off and says, you're always so kind
- 26:39Speaker 1: to us. In Human eighty six, Fuck, Lena gasps and
- 26:42Speaker 1: her eyes kind of widened and she clenches her fists,
- 26:44Speaker 1: and Platis continues, it's very sweet, human lady. Fuck. So
- 26:50Speaker 1: I want to just pause there and say that, like,
- 26:52Speaker 1: this sounds like it's sarcastic. So I'm not sure what
- 26:57Speaker 1: this means. Is this thing a human? Is it some
- 27:00Speaker 1: sort of android? I'm not sure, but it seems like
- 27:04Speaker 1: it's mastered sarcasm. So yeah, and also I could be wrong.
- 27:08Speaker 1: This could be taken very straight, but it just didn't
- 27:11Speaker 1: seem like it was. So anyway, Lena looks really upset
- 27:15Speaker 1: because this is kind of upsetting, and then we just
- 27:18Speaker 1: cut to Lena, but in a new scene, she's looking
- 27:21Speaker 1: at someone off screen and she says, you're changing my
- 27:25Speaker 1: assigned unit, General Carl Staal. We see an older guy
- 27:28Speaker 1: with like a goate sort of and some scars on
- 27:31Speaker 1: his right cheek, and he says, yes, one of the
- 27:34Speaker 1: unit's handlers is retiring from his post. He's sitting at
- 27:37Speaker 1: a desk and she's just like standing in front of him.
- 27:40Speaker 1: I guess this is his office. Carl Stahl stands and says,
- 27:44Speaker 1: as such, a new one is needed immediately. Lena's like,
- 27:48Speaker 1: if they can't leave the post open until his successor
- 27:51Speaker 1: is decided, does that mean that it's a unit defending
- 27:53Speaker 1: an important base. Carl stall walks over to her and
- 27:57Speaker 1: shows her a piece of paper, says, yes, Defense Line
- 28:00Speaker 1: one in the Eastern Defensive Combat Line one District one,
- 28:04Speaker 1: also known as the Spearhead Squadron. We get to see
- 28:06Speaker 1: what's on the piece of paper now, and it says
- 28:09Speaker 1: first UTV Squadron, Spearhead Order of battle. And I'm not
- 28:13Speaker 1: going to tell you all the infall because it's like
- 28:15Speaker 1: literally exactly what he said. But we see suborner units,
- 28:18Speaker 1: six platoons, command leader. We can't see what is it's
- 28:21Speaker 1: just like stars. I guess that's probably because there isn't
- 28:24Speaker 1: a command leader right now. And then it says Squadron
- 28:27Speaker 1: leader Processor one and it has a list of processors
- 28:30Speaker 1: which includes Undertaker FULK Faffner, Hilaithus Werewolf, and then one
- 28:37Speaker 1: that says destroyed, and then one that says Griffin Manticore,
- 28:40Speaker 1: laughing Fox, and then destroyed, then Cato nine March, Hare, Kirchblue, Sirius, Lucusia,
- 28:48Speaker 1: gun Metal Storm, black Dogs, Snowich, some other things I
- 28:51Speaker 1: can't see, and Gunslinger. Now you know. Carl Stall continues,
- 28:56Speaker 1: it's comprised of veterans from all across the Eastern Theater,
- 29:00Speaker 1: you could say. Lina takes the paper from him and says,
- 29:03Speaker 1: but I'm a new major. I don't think I could
- 29:06Speaker 1: handle it. Carl Stall sits on the couch and says,
- 29:10Speaker 1: and you're also the youngest person to ever make the
- 29:12Speaker 1: post of major. If you try to be too humble,
- 29:14Speaker 1: you're gonna make unnecessary enemies Lena. Lina's like, I'm sorry,
- 29:18Speaker 1: uncle Jerome. Oh fuck? Is that why she's the youngest
- 29:21Speaker 1: one ever? Because nepotism? Anyway, who knows. Carl Stall says,
- 29:26Speaker 1: I'm sure Vaklov would be proud if you could see
- 29:28Speaker 1: his daughter too. We see a picture of Carl Stahl
- 29:30Speaker 1: and very small Lena, and I assume Vaklov, which is
- 29:35Speaker 1: Lena's dad, who was also in the military, So yeah, nepotism.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Lena smiles, and Carl Stall says, how's Margaret. Lina's like,
- 29:43Speaker 1: same as always, she won't stop telling me to get married.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Carl Stall's like, I'm sure, actually, we can't find anyone
- 29:50Speaker 1: willing to take on this role. Lina's like, they're an
- 29:53Speaker 1: ACE unit though, right. She sits down on the couch
- 29:56Speaker 1: across from him. Wouldn't it be an honor for any
- 29:58Speaker 1: Republic soldier to command that? Carl Stall says, yeah, that's
- 30:02Speaker 1: true for the unit itself. It's command. Unit's name is Undertaker.
- 30:07Speaker 1: He's pointing to it on the paper. There's a story
- 30:10Speaker 1: behind it. Lina's like yeah. Carl Stall continues, they call
- 30:15Speaker 1: it the Reaper. To be fair, they call it Shinagami,
- 30:18Speaker 1: which is kind of like a reaper. It's like god
- 30:20Speaker 1: of death. But we'll just continue to say reaper because
- 30:23Speaker 1: why not. Lena looks confused at this, which I understand,
- 30:27Speaker 1: and Carl Stall continues. It destroys any handler that tries
- 30:30Speaker 1: to take on the position. Lina's like, what, the processor
- 30:35Speaker 1: destroys the handler, not the other way around. Carl Stall says, correct.
- 30:40Speaker 1: Lina's like, that's not just a ghost story. Carl Stall says,
- 30:45Speaker 1: I don't have time in my schedule to share ghost
- 30:47Speaker 1: stories with my subordinates. Almost all handlers for a unit
- 30:50Speaker 1: with undertaker in them request to retire or switch units. Oh,
- 30:54Speaker 1: some of them even commit suicide. Excuse me, Lena looks shocked,
- 30:59Speaker 1: me too. Carl Stall continues, it's hard to believe, but
- 31:03Speaker 1: they say they're haunted by the voices of the dead.
- 31:06Speaker 1: Lena is like pretty shaken, which I mean, I get it,
- 31:09Speaker 1: but also like, what and she says the dead. Carl
- 31:15Speaker 1: Stall's like, you're free to refuse. Of course, you already
- 31:18Speaker 1: work too hard anyway. A handler's job is to monitor
- 31:22Speaker 1: the unit, keep their commands to a minimum, and let
- 31:24Speaker 1: the local commander take control. Lina stands, I'll do it. Yeah,
- 31:29Speaker 1: that sounds like a bad idea. I'll give my all
- 31:32Speaker 1: the managing spearhead and being the command and control officer.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Carl Stall's like, you don't need to do more than
- 31:38Speaker 1: your job. Stop trying to interact with the processors. Lina says,
- 31:42Speaker 1: it's a commander's job to know her men. Carl Stall
- 31:44Speaker 1: sighs and stands, well, while I'm lecturing you, let me
- 31:50Speaker 1: add one more thing. Stop putting the number of fatalies
- 31:53Speaker 1: in your reports. What officially, there are no humans on
- 31:58Speaker 1: the battlefield, so there are no oh fatalities. What the fuck?
- 32:04Speaker 1: Lina's like, that doesn't mean we can just ignore them,
- 32:07Speaker 1: Carl Stall's like, Lena. Lena kind of snaps out of
- 32:10Speaker 1: it and gasps, Remember, this is someone who's above you.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Just because he's your uncle does not mean that you
- 32:15Speaker 1: can talk to him like that. Luckily, Carl Style cares
- 32:18Speaker 1: about her and smiles and kind of sighs and is like,
- 32:21Speaker 1: you really are just like Foklovlena smiles. Carl Stall sits
- 32:26Speaker 1: at the desk again and says, very well, I appoint
- 32:28Speaker 1: you Vladelina Malise Handler, that is Command and Control Officer
- 32:33Speaker 1: for Defensive Line Combat District one. Defense Line one. Have
- 32:37Speaker 1: the paperwork done by the time you get there, and
- 32:39Speaker 1: do your best. Lina says, I'll do my best until
- 32:43Speaker 1: my final mission. We now see Annette sitting at a
- 32:46Speaker 1: desk looking through a window. She looks pretty concerned and
- 32:50Speaker 1: she says, and you accepted it. Lena, who is sitting
- 32:55Speaker 1: in a chair on the other side of I guess
- 32:57Speaker 1: this window wearing a robe, says yah. Yeah. We cut
- 33:01Speaker 1: to an exterior shots of a big white castle type thing,
- 33:04Speaker 1: and it is apparently the Republic of sand Magnolia Military
- 33:08Speaker 1: Research Way. Then we cut back inside. Anette's size, you're
- 33:13Speaker 1: such a weirdo. Lina's like, it's an honor to be
- 33:15Speaker 1: put in charge of an AC unit, and it's an
- 33:17Speaker 1: important job, and that's stuff about it. Destroying handler's is
- 33:21Speaker 1: all lies, right a bit. They all just don't care
- 33:24Speaker 1: about their job, so they just lie to get out
- 33:25Speaker 1: of it. Annett is drinking some coffee and she says,
- 33:29Speaker 1: it's true that some committed suicide. Lena makes a discontented
- 33:33Speaker 1: noise and looks over a Net's like one of Spearhead's
- 33:38Speaker 1: handlers went crazy and blew his own head off with
- 33:40Speaker 1: a shotgun. Oh, Lena looks scared and kind of gasps,
- 33:44Speaker 1: and a net continues, Okay, exam's done, no problems as usual,
- 33:48Speaker 1: Thanks for your cooperation. I guess this is like a
- 33:51Speaker 1: doctor's exam. I don't know how it works though, since
- 33:53Speaker 1: the net's in another room, but whatever. So Lena's getting
- 33:56Speaker 1: dressed at this point, and she says, but why commit suicide.
- 34:00Speaker 1: It's like we got a request to look into it.
- 34:02Speaker 1: They thought it might be a problem with the pareraid,
- 34:04Speaker 1: but suicide needs to be looked into, you know, Lina says,
- 34:07Speaker 1: And and that's like, I don't know. Lena opens the
- 34:11Speaker 1: door and comes out of the changing room and she's like,
- 34:13Speaker 1: you don't know. Annette says, the handler's dead. How are
- 34:17Speaker 1: we supposed to investigate? Lena walked into the room where
- 34:20Speaker 1: Annette is and says, you're the leader of the research
- 34:23Speaker 1: and development team. Is that really okay? Annette stands and
- 34:27Speaker 1: she's like walking now, and she says, we did our jobs.
- 34:30Speaker 1: There's nothing wrong with the poweraid device and a story
- 34:33Speaker 1: we kind of cuts to the pareraide necklace thing, and
- 34:37Speaker 1: Annette continues, We told them if they wanted to know more,
- 34:39Speaker 1: they'd have to bring us the undertaker, she says, in
- 34:42Speaker 1: a chair at another desk, But those idiots and Transport
- 34:45Speaker 1: were like, this flight has no seats for pigs. She sighs.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Lina says, then you didn't talk to undertaker. She sits
- 34:53Speaker 1: down near a net. Annette says, we just read the report.
- 34:57Speaker 1: No idea. They said. We told them that the handler
- 35:00Speaker 1: dead and all they said was I see well, she says.
- 35:04Speaker 1: They are in eighty six Lena exhales, and we see
- 35:08Speaker 1: kind of an infographic about the power raid on the wall,
- 35:11Speaker 1: and I guess how it works. And I tried to
- 35:14Speaker 1: read the infographic, like I stopped and I like zoomed in,
- 35:17Speaker 1: and it was so embarrassing, guys, Like it looks like
- 35:21Speaker 1: it affects like all senses or something, but under all
- 35:25Speaker 1: of the like it affects hearing and shit like that,
- 35:27Speaker 1: it's all English filler. None of it is real. I
- 35:30Speaker 1: was so upset when I saw this, Like, for example,
- 35:34Speaker 1: here are some of the words that are on this infographic.
- 35:37Speaker 1: Let our powerplate, templates and slides be the jewels in
- 35:41Speaker 1: your crown. And even more damningly, if you're going to
- 35:45Speaker 1: use a passage from Laura Mifsum, I don't know how
- 35:48Speaker 1: to pronounce that. You need to be sure there isn't
- 35:50Speaker 1: anything embarrassing hidden in the middle of the text. This
- 35:55Speaker 1: on its own is embarrassing, guys. And I hope that
- 35:59Speaker 1: I don't find other ins and says of this in here,
- 36:01Speaker 1: because it sucks. Like some of fucking Banana Fish's English
- 36:05Speaker 1: articles were kind of shit, but they were all saying
- 36:08Speaker 1: real things like this is embarrassing. You should be embarrassed,
- 36:13Speaker 1: not you, the people who did that. Anyway, Annette says,
- 36:17Speaker 1: it's not outside of the realm of possibility that a
- 36:19Speaker 1: power raid could cause insanity. You're putting extra pressure on
- 36:22Speaker 1: a part of your brain to allow to share sensory
- 36:25Speaker 1: data with a completely different person. Oh and we only
- 36:28Speaker 1: share hearing. But if you tried to sink like vision
- 36:31Speaker 1: as well, you'd burn out your brain. Too much load
- 36:34Speaker 1: on the brain and you just don't come back. Using
- 36:37Speaker 1: power raid means accepting those risks. Lina gasps. She looks
- 36:42Speaker 1: at a picture on a file cabinet of like little Anette,
- 36:44Speaker 1: I guess and her dad, and she says, but your
- 36:47Speaker 1: father was one of the authorities in its research, and
- 36:50Speaker 1: it's like the fundamental principles were developed by someone else,
- 36:54Speaker 1: So there's a lot I don't know. Actually, listen, Lena,
- 36:57Speaker 1: you should join us at research and development. Lina's like,
- 37:00Speaker 1: what a net continues? The military is just the jobs
- 37:03Speaker 1: program right now when the legion has gone in two years,
- 37:06Speaker 1: former military isn't gonna mean anything on your resume. Lina smiles, thanks,
- 37:10Speaker 1: but it's wartime right now, and it's like those processors
- 37:14Speaker 1: are crazy. You don't know what's gonna happen with the
- 37:17Speaker 1: power raids? The eighty six die so quickly that it
- 37:19Speaker 1: doesn't matter. But I don't want that for you, Lina says,
- 37:23Speaker 1: but still it's cowardly. A net size right right? Something
- 37:29Speaker 1: beeps and that's like, you really are weird. She holds
- 37:34Speaker 1: out Lina's power raid and says I changed the settings.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Lena reaches for it and says thanks, but Annette pulls
- 37:40Speaker 1: it away and is like, oh, Lena, I made some
- 37:42Speaker 1: chaffon cake. Want some? Lina stands, h hmm, I'll pass today.
- 37:49Speaker 1: She takes the device actually out of a net's hand
- 37:52Speaker 1: now and says, see you later. As she turns to leave,
- 37:55Speaker 1: Annette says, I used reealle ex. Lina turns back. What
- 38:00Speaker 1: Annette's like and real milk. Lena gets very excited, and
- 38:04Speaker 1: Annette chuckles. We cut it to Lena chewing happily and blushing,
- 38:09Speaker 1: and she's like, it's so good. Annette says, how's it
- 38:13Speaker 1: feel to eat the real thing for once? Lena's like,
- 38:17Speaker 1: wonderful part of me wonders if this is how it
- 38:19Speaker 1: really tasted. She lifts a piece with her fork and says,
- 38:23Speaker 1: you forget when you've only eaten the artificial stuff and
- 38:26Speaker 1: takes a bite. Lynette gets up in his walking somewhere
- 38:29Speaker 1: and she's like, I've got cream puffs too. Lena looks scared.
- 38:33Speaker 1: She says they don't taste like cheese when they don't
- 38:36Speaker 1: have cheese in them. She's like shaking, or look like
- 38:39Speaker 1: they're about to spit out. Black smoke RTEs oh. Annette
- 38:44Speaker 1: is looking in the fridge and she's lit dramatically by
- 38:46Speaker 1: the light of it, and she says, are you talking
- 38:48Speaker 1: about the last batch I made? She smirks evillly. Lena
- 38:53Speaker 1: nods vigorously. Annette is a little embarrassed, and she's like,
- 38:56Speaker 1: it'll be fine this time. I gave some to a
- 38:58Speaker 1: potential marriage partner yesterday and he cried tears of joy.
- 39:02Speaker 1: She brings the creampuff over to Lena. Lina's like, sounds
- 39:05Speaker 1: like you got a good match for ones. He must
- 39:07Speaker 1: have really loved it. She takes the creampuff and that's like,
- 39:10Speaker 1: of course, I added a card with a lipstick kiss
- 39:13Speaker 1: in the words to my beloved and drop them both
- 39:17Speaker 1: in the mailbox of the place that he lives with
- 39:19Speaker 1: his mistress. She smirks, what the fucking that. Lena looks
- 39:23Speaker 1: kind of like how I feel about that statement, and
- 39:27Speaker 1: she isn't paying attention and she just drops the cream
- 39:29Speaker 1: puff and it hits the floor and explodes. We cut
- 39:33Speaker 1: to a close shot of Lena's face. She gasps, we're
- 39:37Speaker 1: in the control room again. This is now May twentieth
- 39:41Speaker 1: Stellier twenty one forty eight. Lina says, what's wrong. Plati's
- 39:45Speaker 1: come in? Please? What's wrong? Handle one to Platy's. We
- 39:49Speaker 1: see Plati's on that stat screen and they're not synced
- 39:52Speaker 1: anymore to the parer raid thing and their speed is
- 39:55Speaker 1: at zero zero, so this is probably not good. We
- 39:58Speaker 1: then hear a female voice say stop, he's dead. Lena gasps,
- 40:03Speaker 1: she's looking at the screen where like you can see
- 40:06Speaker 1: all the positions of everyone, and Pladie's is there, and
- 40:09Speaker 1: she kind of like reaches out towards it, and we
- 40:10Speaker 1: can see her reflection in the screen as his signature disappears.
- 40:16Speaker 1: She closes her eyes and she smashes her fist against
- 40:19Speaker 1: the desk. We hear fighting in the background, and someone
- 40:21Speaker 1: says evasive maneuvers and damn it on the kind of
- 40:25Speaker 1: roster screen? Please? Stats change from what they were to destroyed. Fuck,
- 40:31Speaker 1: Lina says Handler one to all members of Squadron three.
- 40:35Speaker 1: The enemy's units have begun to retreat. Squadron four will
- 40:38Speaker 1: take over the patrol mission return to base. A voice says, Roger.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Lina's lip starts to quiver. She takes deep breath. Plati's
- 40:47Speaker 1: and the others who died. She cleanses her hands together.
- 40:51Speaker 1: I'm so sorry about them. The woman's voice says, as always,
- 40:55Speaker 1: thank you for your kind words, Handler one. She sounds
- 40:59Speaker 1: so annoyed and really stressed. Lena continues, just so you know,
- 41:04Speaker 1: Squadron three will be reformed with a new handler. She
- 41:07Speaker 1: puts one hand over her face, trying not to cry,
- 41:10Speaker 1: and then the other hand on her face. Two. Which
- 41:12Speaker 1: is really cool because the next line she speaks with
- 41:14Speaker 1: her hands over her face and it sounds muffled. So
- 41:16Speaker 1: I'm gonna do that too. Thank you for everything. She
- 41:20Speaker 1: takes her hands down. I'm gonna be the command and
- 41:22Speaker 1: control officer for Spearhead. The voice chuckles and says, that's
- 41:27Speaker 1: great news. Lena's like what. The voice continues, you have
- 41:33Speaker 1: my deepest sympathies, Handler one. Lena kind of jumps and
- 41:37Speaker 1: her eyes widen and she says, what does that mean?
- 41:41Speaker 1: The voice is like say hello to the reaper for me.
- 41:45Speaker 1: Lena thinks of the word undertaker on the roster paper
- 41:49Speaker 1: and she gasps, yeah, I already like them, whoever they are.
- 41:52Speaker 1: It's later and I think Lena is sitting at a
- 41:54Speaker 1: desk in like a bedroom. It's night obviously, and the
- 41:58Speaker 1: room is lit by like the glow of a lamp
- 42:01Speaker 1: next to her, and it says May twenty second, twenty eight.
- 42:05Speaker 1: I'm dropping the Stellar year because you know it's always
- 42:07Speaker 1: gonna be Stellar year, so not gonna say it anymore.
- 42:10Speaker 1: So it's just a day later then we just saw.
- 42:13Speaker 1: We see more of the room now, and it's clearly
- 42:15Speaker 1: that bedroom that she was in earlier, because there's that
- 42:17Speaker 1: face of Lily's on the windowsill, and she has a
- 42:22Speaker 1: notebook or journal open in front of her, and sitting
- 42:26Speaker 1: on the notebook is her para raid device and then
- 42:29Speaker 1: also a pen, and she's just kind of staring at it.
- 42:33Speaker 1: She kind of like huffs and grabs her parer raid
- 42:35Speaker 1: and puts it on. She says, power raid activates synchronizing target.
- 42:41Speaker 1: She writes five twenty two spearhead and there's a long pause,
- 42:46Speaker 1: spearhead processor. She has like an ink pen, like a
- 42:50Speaker 1: fountain pen, and the tip of it is laying on
- 42:53Speaker 1: the page and it is making an ever increasing black mark.
- 42:57Speaker 1: It expands until we get the title card Episode one Undertaker. Now,
- 43:02Speaker 1: if you've been with me for more than just this
- 43:05Speaker 1: one episode and you hung out during Banana Fish, you
- 43:08Speaker 1: know that title card usually means end of episode. But
- 43:12Speaker 1: not here. We're like only halfway through. I know, it
- 43:15Speaker 1: feels like it's been a long time, so let's keep going.
- 43:19Speaker 1: We see a nice green countryside with power lines, and
- 43:23Speaker 1: we're looking through a dirty window and they're birds chirping
- 43:26Speaker 1: and flying in the distance. A person who we can't
- 43:29Speaker 1: see except for like their legs, wearing khaki colored pants
- 43:32Speaker 1: and black boots, walks across a small, kind of beat
- 43:35Speaker 1: up bedroom to the window. We get a better shot
- 43:38Speaker 1: of the room now, but still not him. It's just
- 43:40Speaker 1: didn't really beat up rough shape, kind of like it's
- 43:44Speaker 1: not dirty so much as it just is grimy now
- 43:48Speaker 1: and kind of rusty and stained even though it might
- 43:51Speaker 1: be clean. There's a bookshelf and it has like tons
- 43:53Speaker 1: of books on it. The person who we still can't
- 43:56Speaker 1: see their face puts on a khaki colored jacket and
- 44:00Speaker 1: walks back across the room. They pull a book out
- 44:03Speaker 1: of this green cabinet that looks like it was probably
- 44:06Speaker 1: once a refrigerator, and they try to close it behind them,
- 44:10Speaker 1: but it just kind of swings back open, like it
- 44:12Speaker 1: doesn't really close anymore. We finally see who this is.
- 44:15Speaker 1: This is that guy from before in the battle with
- 44:18Speaker 1: a you know, dark brown or black hair and the
- 44:22Speaker 1: red eyes. He's wearing, you know, basically all kind of khaki,
- 44:26Speaker 1: kind of like a military fatigues sort of. And it's
- 44:30Speaker 1: important that I mentioned that he has a white bandana on.
- 44:33Speaker 1: I think in the light novel it was supposed to
- 44:35Speaker 1: be blue, but for some reason in the anime it's white.
- 44:38Speaker 1: But it's important he's wearing a bandana. We cut to
- 44:41Speaker 1: the exterior of like a really cementse kind of brutalist
- 44:44Speaker 1: looking building that's kind of in rough shape, and we
- 44:48Speaker 1: see the date is May twelfth, twenty forty eight, so
- 44:50Speaker 1: this is ten days earlier than we just saw Lena.
- 44:56Speaker 1: We cut to a room with this like weird lemonheaded
- 44:59Speaker 1: statue thing and someone throws, I yes, a wet towel
- 45:02Speaker 1: at it and it like sticks on its face, and
- 45:04Speaker 1: everyone's like nice. And we see that there are a
- 45:08Speaker 1: bunch of like teenagers in like a room that kind
- 45:11Speaker 1: of looks like it was furnished with like thrift store items,
- 45:15Speaker 1: and I guess it's like a living space. And they're
- 45:19Speaker 1: all wearing like either brown or khaki kind of fatigues.
- 45:22Speaker 1: And the kid who threw the towel, I think kind
- 45:25Speaker 1: of like bows or like goes to grab another rag
- 45:27Speaker 1: to throw it again. One of the dudes, who looks
- 45:30Speaker 1: a little older, like maybe he's closer to eighteen than
- 45:32Speaker 1: these kids who are closer to like maybe fifteen or sixteen,
- 45:36Speaker 1: turns to them and he's like, get to cleaning. And
- 45:40Speaker 1: when he turns, the guy throws a towel and it
- 45:42Speaker 1: gets him right in the face, and everyone's like, oh shit,
- 45:46Speaker 1: and they like scream. I should tell you that the
- 45:48Speaker 1: dude who wanted them to start cleaning and I got
- 45:51Speaker 1: hit in the face with the towel is important. He
- 45:52Speaker 1: has kind of black spiky hair, blue eyes, and he's
- 45:55Speaker 1: got some scars on his face, and he's wearing just
- 45:58Speaker 1: kind of like a black short sleeves shirt, where everyone
- 46:00Speaker 1: else is wearing like these khaki jackets. It's not that important,
- 46:04Speaker 1: but now you know. Anyway, there's a girl outside with
- 46:08Speaker 1: black hair that's in a ponytail, and she's watering some
- 46:11Speaker 1: flowers and she hears them scream and she smiles and
- 46:14Speaker 1: she's like having a good time in there. Huh. We
- 46:16Speaker 1: then see a girl with like red, shortish hair emerge
- 46:19Speaker 1: from around the corner where that girl is watering, and
- 46:22Speaker 1: she's chasing a chicken and she's like wait, wait, And
- 46:25Speaker 1: then we see these two kids who are like in
- 46:27Speaker 1: a chicken coop like watching her do this, looking like
- 46:30Speaker 1: super embarrassed for her. We cut to a door bursting
- 46:33Speaker 1: open and the red haired girl saying eggs and holding
- 46:36Speaker 1: one out. The embarrassed looking kids are also there too,
- 46:40Speaker 1: and there are these two kids in the room that
- 46:42Speaker 1: they burst into, and one of them is a silver
- 46:45Speaker 1: haired girl with blue eyes, and then there's a blonde
- 46:48Speaker 1: haired kind of taller boy with green eyes, and they're
- 46:51Speaker 1: just like staring at each other and they look over
- 46:53Speaker 1: like really startled, and we see that the reason they
- 46:56Speaker 1: were standing like that is they're holding a large pot
- 46:58Speaker 1: and this is a kitchen. The silver haired girl smiles
- 47:01Speaker 1: like politely and is like welcome, back the blonde haired
- 47:04Speaker 1: guy size. The redhead girl is still holding the egg
- 47:08Speaker 1: and she's like what. We cut to someone drawing a
- 47:12Speaker 1: red line through a crayon drawing. It's like of this
- 47:16Speaker 1: dude who's like yelling really angrily. And then we cut
- 47:19Speaker 1: back and we see that this drawing is on a
- 47:21Speaker 1: wall and there's actually five of these drawings tacked up
- 47:24Speaker 1: to the wall and they're all crossed out, and they
- 47:27Speaker 1: all have handlers like handler one through five at the bottom.
- 47:30Speaker 1: So the one that just got crossed out was Handler five.
- 47:32Speaker 1: So I'm thinking this is the Spearhead Squadron and they're
- 47:35Speaker 1: pretty proud that they got this guy to quit. We
- 47:38Speaker 1: see that the person who is doing that is another
- 47:41Speaker 1: blonde haired dude who looks a little bit younger. He's shorter.
- 47:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna call him this short blonde haired dude right
- 47:45Speaker 1: now because he doesn't have a name. For a little while,
- 47:47Speaker 1: he's just kind of looking at the drawings and a
- 47:49Speaker 1: brown haired girl like waves him and it's like, hey,
- 47:51Speaker 1: help me for a second. The short blondhaired boy says sure,
- 47:54Speaker 1: sure and goes off. We get a better shot of
- 47:57Speaker 1: the picture now of the fifth handler, and he looks
- 48:00Speaker 1: like super mean, and it's a pretty good drawing, very cartoony.
- 48:04Speaker 1: So yeah, now you know, we got to a darker
- 48:08Speaker 1: skin kid, like maybe he's Hispanic or black, with brown
- 48:11Speaker 1: hair and brown eyes, and he's like doing something that
- 48:14Speaker 1: we can't see, and I can tell you right now
- 48:16Speaker 1: because I wasn't sure. He's drawing something. And he's in
- 48:21Speaker 1: some place that has like a metal roof, like a
- 48:23Speaker 1: tin roof, but it's like totally corroded, so there's like
- 48:26Speaker 1: holes in it and shit, and he like kind of
- 48:28Speaker 1: dusts off his hands and he's like okay. Also, I
- 48:31Speaker 1: wanted to mention that his hair is really cool. The
- 48:34Speaker 1: sides are shaved and he's got like three long breids
- 48:36Speaker 1: in the back. Cool hair, dude. He starts to walk
- 48:39Speaker 1: away and there are these other guys entering. He kind
- 48:41Speaker 1: of waves to them and he's like, have fun out
- 48:43Speaker 1: there today. They kind of look at him like confused,
- 48:46Speaker 1: and we see that this is like a garage or
- 48:48Speaker 1: a warehouse, and another guy says, you mean, have fun
- 48:52Speaker 1: out there, sir. The brown haired guy laughs. We now
- 48:56Speaker 1: see eight cats that is black with white paws resting
- 49:00Speaker 1: on something that we can't say what it is and
- 49:02Speaker 1: then it yawns okay. It's on like some sort of
- 49:05Speaker 1: robot of swords that's orange and kind of big and blockie.
- 49:08Speaker 1: And near the robot, sitting on a bench is the
- 49:11Speaker 1: guy with red eyes. He is reading a book. He's
- 49:15Speaker 1: just kind of quietly sitting there, and then we hear
- 49:18Speaker 1: someone banging on a pot and they say, members of Spearhead,
- 49:22Speaker 1: it's breakfast time. The red eye guide and the orange
- 49:25Speaker 1: robot look up, and some dude like passes by banging
- 49:28Speaker 1: on the pot, and some people are like following him
- 49:31Speaker 1: and saying like, okay, sure. The red hair guy closes
- 49:34Speaker 1: his book and he stands up and he looks over
- 49:37Speaker 1: at the other kids that are like going to the kitchen,
- 49:39Speaker 1: and he says good morning and starts to walk off.
- 49:42Speaker 1: We see kind of behind him on the wall there
- 49:45Speaker 1: was this mural of that silver haired woman with the
- 49:48Speaker 1: sword and flag, similar to the one that we saw
- 49:51Speaker 1: in the military HQ. And under the mural, sitting on
- 49:54Speaker 1: a bench is a dummy wearing fatigues and smiling and
- 49:59Speaker 1: they're there's a big sign around his neck that says
- 50:02Speaker 1: pig okay, and a speech bubble coming from him on
- 50:07Speaker 1: the mural behind him that says welcome to the base
- 50:10Speaker 1: closest to Heaven. Fuck. We then cut to food on
- 50:15Speaker 1: a table spread, strawberries and oranges, soup, omelets and coffee,
- 50:20Speaker 1: and everyone's like, eat daki masu. The taller blonde guy says,
- 50:24Speaker 1: there's more omelets. The kind of pismatic looking guy is like,
- 50:28Speaker 1: give me some more. Then everyone is like talking and
- 50:31Speaker 1: having a nice time, and the spiky haired guy is
- 50:34Speaker 1: sitting near the red guy. He's like, is it good, kudo.
- 50:38Speaker 1: He's looking at the cat who is eating an omelet
- 50:40Speaker 1: on the floor, and then I think he gives the
- 50:42Speaker 1: cat like a tomato or something, something red and small
- 50:45Speaker 1: and round. We hear someone say, hey, so our handler
- 50:48Speaker 1: went crazy, right hey. The younger blonde kid says, the
- 50:52Speaker 1: one in battle yesterday, he's not coming back. A red
- 50:56Speaker 1: haired boy is like I heard it, stay away, hey stop.
- 51:00Speaker 1: A bunch of the kids like yell like he did,
- 51:02Speaker 1: and then they laugh, and the red haired girl's like,
- 51:05Speaker 1: stop it, guys. The younger blonde dude is cutting an
- 51:08Speaker 1: omelet and he's like, white pigs always do that. Whoever
- 51:12Speaker 1: comes next, the same thing will happen to them, right,
- 51:15Speaker 1: He gives some of his omelet to the cat as well.
- 51:18Speaker 1: The black haired girl with the ponytail is like, but
- 51:20Speaker 1: everyone was able to go yesterday, right hin hin? Who
- 51:23Speaker 1: now we know? Is that guy with the brown or
- 51:25Speaker 1: black hair and the red eyes and the bandana is like, yeah,
- 51:29Speaker 1: it's fine. A bunch of them sigh. I don't know
- 51:32Speaker 1: what this means. And that kind of Latino kid is like, well,
- 51:36Speaker 1: if we're gonna die, we'd rather have our reaper guide us.
- 51:39Speaker 1: What so, I think it's pretty obvious by now that
- 51:44Speaker 1: Chin is definitely Undertaker because they just called him that. Anyway.
- 51:49Speaker 1: They all look at him like super kindly in a
- 51:52Speaker 1: way that makes me super fucking nervous, and he like
- 51:55Speaker 1: doesn't react, and that latino kid notices the cat staring
- 51:59Speaker 1: at him, and he's like, what here. He holds out
- 52:02Speaker 1: a bowl and the cat like runs at him full force,
- 52:06Speaker 1: and instead of going for the bowl, it like jumps
- 52:08Speaker 1: at him and he freaks out and it like knocks
- 52:10Speaker 1: the ball out of his hand, and as the ball
- 52:13Speaker 1: hits the floor, spilling its contents, we don't hear it.
- 52:16Speaker 1: It goes silence. Instead, we hear a gunshots. It's May
- 52:20Speaker 1: twenty second eight the Juggernaut. Things are like fighting and
- 52:26Speaker 1: someone pulls a trigger and like bombs go off under
- 52:29Speaker 1: some of the enemies, and we see inside one of
- 52:31Speaker 1: their cockpits and it's that blonde, younger guy and he
- 52:34Speaker 1: presses the trigger, and then we see more fighting, and
- 52:38Speaker 1: there's like a quick shot of metal like full of
- 52:40Speaker 1: bullet holes and an insignia that kind of looks like
- 52:42Speaker 1: a dog, and then there's like the worst, most upsetting
- 52:46Speaker 1: sounding grown. We go back to fighting and something explodes
- 52:50Speaker 1: and we get a close shot of a Juggernaut, I guess,
- 52:53Speaker 1: and blood is pouring out of bullet holes in it,
- 52:56Speaker 1: like pouring, like fucking pouring, guy, and a voice says,
- 53:02Speaker 1: it hurts, okay. We see a close up shot of Shin,
- 53:09Speaker 1: who is in one of the Juggernauts. He looks to
- 53:11Speaker 1: the side kind of knowingly, and the voice says, damn it.
- 53:15Speaker 1: We get a far shot of a Juggernaut like laying
- 53:17Speaker 1: in the rubble. I think is what it was, and
- 53:20Speaker 1: the voice continues, damn it. The damn it turns into
- 53:23Speaker 1: an anguished scream, and a Juggernaut bursts forward. I don't
- 53:27Speaker 1: know if it's the same one. I was confused it's
- 53:30Speaker 1: laid out now, and there are these weird sparkly things
- 53:33Speaker 1: in the sky, and then like little things flying that
- 53:36Speaker 1: are maybe robots, I'm not sure. We see now kind
- 53:40Speaker 1: of that messed up juggernaut that's like all just not
- 53:44Speaker 1: working anymore on the ground, and one of the other
- 53:47Speaker 1: juggernauts is walking towards it, and someone is just gasping quietly.
- 53:54Speaker 1: We see some of the other teenagers looking super fucking distressed,
- 53:59Speaker 1: and the uggernaut continues to walk towards whoever is in
- 54:03Speaker 1: that really fucked up juggernaut, and the voice says, I
- 54:07Speaker 1: don't want to die. The moving juggernaut stops in front
- 54:12Speaker 1: of the really messed up one and it opens, like
- 54:16Speaker 1: the cockpit opens, and we see this like really gorgeous
- 54:19Speaker 1: wide shot of somebody like getting out and walking over,
- 54:23Speaker 1: and then a shot of that poor Latino kid inside
- 54:28Speaker 1: the cockpit and we can see him because there's this
- 54:31Speaker 1: fucking giant hole busted in it, so we're seeing him
- 54:34Speaker 1: through the hole and he is really bloody and he
- 54:38Speaker 1: looks like he's barely conscious, and he looks over and
- 54:42Speaker 1: he sees that there's a person walking towards him, and
- 54:45Speaker 1: whoever it is, racks their gun, and the Latino kid
- 54:48Speaker 1: smiles and says, Shin. Fuck. Shin stops in front of him,
- 54:55Speaker 1: and the wind kicks up and we see on Shin's
- 54:59Speaker 1: undertaker the insignia of the like headless skeleton with the shovel,
- 55:04Speaker 1: and the kid says, promise me, don't forget. Shin says
- 55:10Speaker 1: absolutely nothing, and he just stares, and then he raises
- 55:13Speaker 1: the gun and shoots. We cut away so we only
- 55:19Speaker 1: hear the shots, but of course we know what happened,
- 55:22Speaker 1: and we cut back, and all we can see of
- 55:25Speaker 1: the Latino kid is, you know, part of the side
- 55:28Speaker 1: of his face, mostly his ear, some of his hair,
- 55:31Speaker 1: just lots of blood, and all of them have these
- 55:34Speaker 1: like little weird cuffs on their I think right ears,
- 55:39Speaker 1: and it was glowing green and it just kind of
- 55:42Speaker 1: blinks and shuts off. Shin's little earcuff is green as well,
- 55:47Speaker 1: and he kind of reaches up and it turns red
- 55:49Speaker 1: and he walks out of the frame. We see that
- 55:52Speaker 1: he has gone just slightly over and is using a
- 55:58Speaker 1: knife to cut into the Juggernaut. Specifically, he is cutting
- 56:03Speaker 1: around the dude's insignia. He's trying to cut it off awesome.
- 56:09Speaker 1: The dude with the spiky hair walks over and he's like,
- 56:13Speaker 1: was Kuju able to go? Oh, that's what go means? Huh?
- 56:17Speaker 1: Shin says yeah. He continues to stab at the metal
- 56:22Speaker 1: to free the insignia. The spiky guy's like, what about
- 56:26Speaker 1: your brother's voice. Shin says no, he keeps stabbing. Spiking
- 56:32Speaker 1: Guy's like okay, and he walks away. Shin finally cuts
- 56:37Speaker 1: the insignia out of the metal and he looks at it.
- 56:41Speaker 1: We get a very nice shots of either dawn or dusk.
- 56:45Speaker 1: The sky is red, and the credits start to roll,
- 56:49Speaker 1: and then we cut to train tracks with the garage
- 56:52Speaker 1: in the distance, and then inside where the cat is
- 56:55Speaker 1: trying to eat but the bowls are empty. Everyone is
- 56:59Speaker 1: cleaning up in the kitchen just quietly, and the taller
- 57:02Speaker 1: blonde boy looks at the cat and he's like, there's
- 57:04Speaker 1: nothing left. Somebody throws a dart in kind of that
- 57:07Speaker 1: main area and missus. Another kid is like, you suck,
- 57:11Speaker 1: and a second kid's like a win. We go to
- 57:14Speaker 1: the garage where we see a blackboard. This is what
- 57:18Speaker 1: Kujo was writing earlier, and it says in chalk one
- 57:22Speaker 1: hundred and twenty nine days till I end my service.
- 57:24Speaker 1: Fucking glory to the Spearhead Squadron. Fuck so he was
- 57:29Speaker 1: one hundred and twenty nineties for being out of us.
- 57:32Speaker 1: Poor kid. We go to Shin in his room. It's
- 57:36Speaker 1: night now. He's sitting at his desk and he is
- 57:40Speaker 1: carving with the knife Cujo's name in the back of
- 57:43Speaker 1: the piece of metal that he cut out from his juggernauts.
- 57:47Speaker 1: He's just kind of staring blankly. At this point, all
- 57:51Speaker 1: of the Spearhead Squadron's earcuffs make us sound at once,
- 57:55Speaker 1: and we hear Lena say handler one to all Spearhead units.
- 58:00Speaker 1: Everyone looks really surprised, except for the younger blonde guy
- 58:03Speaker 1: who is like drawing and really not paying that much attention,
- 58:05Speaker 1: and Lena continues, greetings, I'm your new command and control officer.
- 58:09Speaker 1: They all look at each other like what the fuck,
- 58:12Speaker 1: and the younger blonde boy says a woman. They all nod.
- 58:17Speaker 1: He flips through his sketchbook, and Lena continues, I've contacted
- 58:21Speaker 1: you tonight to introduce myself. Shin is still at his
- 58:24Speaker 1: desk in his room. Everyone else is like in common areas,
- 58:27Speaker 1: and he says hello, Handler one. This is Spearhead Squadrons
- 58:30Speaker 1: Combat Commander personnel name Undertaker. We receive where that the
- 58:35Speaker 1: new handler was coming. The younger blonde kid has drawn something.
- 58:38Speaker 1: It is a female pig and she has long curly hair,
- 58:44Speaker 1: and she's wearing like a really frilly dress and he
- 58:48Speaker 1: kind of smirks. Shin continues, we look forward to working
- 58:52Speaker 1: with you. The kids chuckle at the blonde boys drawing.
- 58:55Speaker 1: Lina says, as do. I nice to meet you, Undertaker,
- 58:59Speaker 1: and then we go to the opening theme woo at
- 59:01Speaker 1: the end. This time it is called three minutes and
- 59:04Speaker 1: twenty nine seconds and is by Hitoai maybe, and you know,
- 59:07Speaker 1: it's pretty normal opening theme. It shows Shin and Spearhead
- 59:11Speaker 1: and Lina and they're like battling and stuff, and Lina's
- 59:14Speaker 1: like directing them from the control room and Shin's holding
- 59:17Speaker 1: a piece of scrap metal. And then there's like this
- 59:19Speaker 1: really important shot that I wanted to tell you about
- 59:22Speaker 1: where we see three people standing with their backs to
- 59:25Speaker 1: us in a field of red spider lilies, which is
- 59:29Speaker 1: like the Japanese flower for death, and one of them
- 59:33Speaker 1: is clearly Kujo, and we don't know the other two. Yeah,
- 59:36Speaker 1: it's a pretty good opening, kind of like prog rocky
- 59:39Speaker 1: a little bit. I actually prefer the second opening to it,
- 59:42Speaker 1: but yeah, it's pretty good, animated it pretty well, and
- 59:46Speaker 1: then we get the next episode title card spearhead Gay.
- 59:51Speaker 1: That's it. So closing thoughts, I for some reason, I'm
- 59:55Speaker 1: losing my voice and don't quite understand what's going on.
- 59:57Speaker 1: But I made it, and yeah, I like that episode.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: There were some really cool elements, like when the bowl
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: of soup is falling and then we like lose sound
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: and it cuts to the gunshot. Super nice. I don't
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: think I expressed how cool that was accurately, but yeah,
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: there were lots of really nice transitions in this. We're
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: kind of going back and forth in time a little bit.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: I think we're caught up now we're on May twenty
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: second again, and uh yeah, so what's going on here?
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: It seems like the official story is that these are
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: like drones basically, but they're really like teenagers and like children,
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: so that's a little bit upsetting. And also all the people,
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: these eighty six people, they do not have the same
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: silver hair and silver eyes that the rest of the
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: San Magnolia people do, so that's a little bit upsetting,
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: and then the whole thing with like officially there aren't
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: any deaths, so stop recording the deaths. Really fucking scary. Yeah,
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: So I'm thinking that this society is probably not super good,
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: Like they're probably letting these teenagers die and fight these
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: things for some reason. It's not very thinly veiled. This
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: is obviously a racist society that is for some reason
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: using these other looking people the fight and calling them pigs,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: which is just great, So interesting that Lena is so
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: into the idea of like getting to know them and
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: all this shit, because everyone else isn't. Everyone else is
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: like they're just they're trash, Like we don't we're using
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: them and they're not even people basically. So I wonder
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: if she doesn't know how bad things are, or if
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: she is trying to work from within to solve things,
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: Like is she really naive like what's going on? She
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: obviously is at least slightly naive, right, Like she's working
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: in this government that seems to be super bad and
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: you know, maybe letting these kids die. I mean, like,
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: well we heard at the beginning with that handler that
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: I guess is the handler that they felt like retired
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: because he couldn't take it anymore and he was like screaming.
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: He was like super excited about them dying, right, Like
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: he was really into it until he started freaking out,
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: which again, like why did he start freaking out? We
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: don't know the Spearhead Squadron very well at all. We
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: only have one other names, which is Shin, which is important.
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: But I haven't seen anything from them that would suggest
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: they're like super mean or that they could make someone
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: like lose their mind, right, like why them and why
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: not Lena's old squadron. So that's gonna be interesting to
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: see how that goes, because I don't know shitn seemed
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: like a nice guy to me. He killed his friend
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: so he could go the way they wanted to go,
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: Like what Yeah, the whole thing about like everyone like
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: looking at Chin and being like, yay, You're gonna like
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: kill us and it's gonna be awesome kind of upsetting.
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: So yeah, there's a lot of shit going on here.
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: I don't really have much more to say than that
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: it's the first episode. It's bad enough that I said
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: everything what I did, and I feel like I've been
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: talking for like ever, So that's really it for today.
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: I hope that you thought that this was okay and
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: that you don't miss banana fish, because I can do
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: that as much as necessary on my own. So yeah,
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: next week is I guess Spearhead said the title card,
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: which is good because I mean that sounds right on
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: as we're dealing with Spearhead Squadron. Oh. Also, I wanted
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: to say that it's also interesting to see how we
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: have I mean, differences in scenery between where Spearhead is
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: and where I guess the capital is or whatever, but
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: also differences in what they're eating. You know, there was
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: a whole big thing with Lena and Annette and they
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: don't usually have real eggs or something, but we saw that,
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: you know, in this army base thing, those kids like
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: are eating omelets and stuff and like they have chickens,
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: So what's going on there. It's interesting that it's that different.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: So yeah, that's that's what I got. I guess, I
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: don't know. Yeah, So anyway, hope you liked it. Hope
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: you didn't think it was terrible. I will say though,
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: that eighty six is one of my favorite anime. I
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: think currently it's my third or fourth favorite. I'm not
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: really sure. But I didn't like love it until with
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: the halfway point. I think that this first half is great,
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: but I think it's way better if you know what's
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: going to happen, So keep that in mind. The second
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: core of this first season, there's only one season, is
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: what really sold me on the show. So in case
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: you're just not totally feeling it, I could totally understand that. Yep, anyway,
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: that is it, and I hope you have a really
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: good whatever, and I will be back with the second
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: episode whatever next week is, so yay or something. Yeah,
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: I'll see you later. Weebs
