- 0:01Speaker 1: Wave.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the right time. A wave original.
- 0:13Speaker 2: My name is Beaumont Jones. Thanks for listening wherever you
- 0:15Speaker 2: get your podcast. Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like,
- 0:19Speaker 2: rate us, review us, give us five stars, only give
- 0:21Speaker 2: us four stars.
- 0:22Speaker 3: I'm inclined to believe you are a hater.
- 0:25Speaker 2: It is that time of week where we have a
- 0:27Speaker 2: guest join us, coming to us live from Chicago, Illinois.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Give it up for Jason Goff. What's going on, brother?
- 0:34Speaker 4: Listen, Bo, I knew today I'd be chatting with you.
- 0:38Speaker 4: I had a successful drop off of the kid in
- 0:41Speaker 4: the last couple of days of third grade. He going
- 0:43Speaker 4: to a new school. So that was fun talking to
- 0:46Speaker 4: him about enjoying it. I bust a left on Chicago Avenue,
- 0:50Speaker 4: hit Lakeshore Drive, and I just see the city of winners.
- 0:53Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying?
- 0:55Speaker 4: I see the city of the fourth pick in the
- 0:58Speaker 4: draft coming up here in a four-player draft. I see
- 1:01Speaker 4: a city where the cover boy for Madden might be
- 1:04Speaker 4: a quarterback of the Chicago Bears.
- 1:07Speaker 1: I see a city where the.
- 1:08Speaker 4: Sox, losers of 100-plus games in the last couple of seasons,
- 1:12Speaker 4: look like they might have some fun this summer.
- 1:15Speaker 1: I'm telling you, man, life is good. Life is good.
- 1:18Speaker 3: It's also the city of Mike Hittman. You know my
- 1:21Speaker 3: guy Mike Hittman.
- 1:21Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Mike, I talked to Mike a couple days ago. Mike
- 1:25Speaker 2: said he had a whole lot of people he wanted
- 1:27Speaker 2: to slap shit out of. I can't see who they
- 1:28Speaker 2: are here. But Mike also told me that him and
- 1:32Speaker 2: his partners is trying to bring back strippers and cowboy hats.
- 1:35Speaker 2: And he was like, I got a video I need
- 1:37Speaker 2: you to check out right fast. And I just sent
- 1:40Speaker 2: it to you. And I don't want you to say
- 1:41Speaker 2: what it is, but I just want you to give
- 1:43Speaker 2: it a look.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Okay. You know, I'm always down to check out the
- 1:48Speaker 1: performing arts. Hold on one second. Okay, well.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not what you thought it was going to be.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Is it? No, no. Go ahead and play it.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Go ahead and play it.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Oh, no. Go ahead and play it. Oh, no, no, no.
- 2:06Speaker 1: All right. See, I just told you how beautiful my
- 2:10Speaker 1: morning was.
- 2:11Speaker 4: And by the way, to be in this kind of
- 2:13Speaker 4: shape is admirable.
- 2:15Speaker 1: By the way. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I thought she was
- 2:18Speaker 1: talking about.
- 2:19Speaker 2: The details don't matter, brother. The details don't matter. We
- 2:22Speaker 2: all went through it at the same time. But the
- 2:24Speaker 2: NBA finals, they are here. It is the San Antonio
- 2:27Speaker 2: Spurs and the Knicks. And I don't even think you care,
- 2:30Speaker 2: Jason Goff, that much about the NBA finals because I
- 2:32Speaker 2: know you and you're just happy that the Oklahoma City
- 2:34Speaker 2: Thunder ain't in there no more.
- 2:36Speaker 4: I am, and I hate the fact that I have
- 2:38Speaker 4: to come out and be this guy, but I haven't
- 2:40Speaker 4: rooted against a team since I don't know when, bro.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Like, it's been a while since.
- 2:46Speaker 4: You see how the softball is made, and you're like,
- 2:48Speaker 4: all right, well, you know, you take the subjectivity out
- 2:51Speaker 4: of that thing. I watched the Oklahoma City Thunder over
- 2:55Speaker 4: the last couple years grow into one of the more
- 2:57Speaker 4: detestable bunch of young men who you're supposed to like.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Like, they... Duh. Family-wise, they seem like they do everything right.
- 3:05Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 3:06Speaker 4: They all seem like they're decent dudes, but... It started
- 3:10Speaker 4: for me when the post-game interview became, let's see who
- 3:15Speaker 4: could be the most immature and throw towels on each
- 3:18Speaker 4: other's heads. And SGA would always try to back it down,
- 3:21Speaker 4: but it was like, all right. And then it went
- 3:23Speaker 4: to like, let's celebrate with each other.
- 3:26Speaker 1: What was it? SGA was the MVP.
- 3:29Speaker 4: You not only get APs, but you get matching trench coats. Like,
- 3:33Speaker 4: what's happening here? And some of the on-court outfits, like,
- 3:38Speaker 4: I lived through the Russell Westbrook era of, like, oh,
- 3:40Speaker 4: that's what we take in the game, fashion-wise?
- 3:42Speaker 1: Like, those are pieces. Now, it's like, what is going
- 3:46Speaker 1: on on these sidelines?
- 3:46Speaker 4: They have made me realize my age in a way
- 3:50Speaker 4: that I wasn't comfortable with. But also, like, you know
- 3:53Speaker 4: when you embrace it. Like, we're like, oh, yeah.
- 3:56Speaker 1: The first time you get called OG.
- 3:59Speaker 4: or boss or something like that, and you don't take
- 4:01Speaker 4: it personally, that's when I knew, okay, it's fine. Because
- 4:05Speaker 4: I don't like them dudes, and I don't like watching
- 4:07Speaker 4: them play basketball.
- 4:08Speaker 1: And they cold as hell. That's the other thing. They
- 4:10Speaker 1: cold as hell, right?
- 4:11Speaker 4: But I don't like the fact that I need to
- 4:13Speaker 4: know how cold A.J. Mitchell is out of nowhere. Jalen
- 4:16Speaker 4: Williams and his face at all times bothers me, right?
- 4:19Speaker 4: And I don't mean to sound like a hater, but
- 4:22Speaker 4: this is just what it is. I found a team.
- 4:24Speaker 1: And the worst part about, not the worst, but the
- 4:27Speaker 1: craziest part, Hold on.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Hold on. Specify for which Jalen Williams you're talking about.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Oh, Jalen without a Y.
- 4:32Speaker 4: Unnecessary Y guy, he just always pouting for some reason.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Hold on, I got to say an apology right fast.
- 4:39Speaker 2: I had been saying that Jalen Williams, the one you
- 4:42Speaker 2: call unnecessary pout guy, that he looked like his daddy
- 4:45Speaker 2: in the service. And I made a reference to Charlie
- 4:48Speaker 2: last show, and I did not know that that was racist.
- 4:51Speaker 3: I thought it was simply antiquated.
- 4:52Speaker 2: But apparently it is racist. And I need to apologize
- 4:56Speaker 2: for doing that because I did. I just thought it
- 4:57Speaker 2: was like, for example, saying colored is not racist.
- 5:03Speaker 3: It is antiquated.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Wait a minute, though.
- 5:06Speaker 3: It sounds like something a racist person would say.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I know what I'm saying. Please, let's not disseminate that
- 5:11Speaker 1: information and then you'll get.
- 5:13Speaker 3: No, no, no, no.
- 5:13Speaker 2: It's not racist, but it is an antiquity that implies
- 5:18Speaker 2: that you might be a racist, right?
- 5:19Speaker 1: You might mean that way. And I thought that I
- 5:21Speaker 1: was in the.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Space of the antiquity as opposed to the flat-out racist.
- 5:26Speaker 1: To the racist space. Gotcha. My fault.
- 5:29Speaker 3: My fault. I thought that was just something they said.
- 5:31Speaker 3: I didn't know. But anyway, you don't like him either.
- 5:36Speaker 4: I don't feel comfortable talking about them anymore after the
- 5:40Speaker 4: Charlie comment.
- 5:42Speaker 1: I feel like I should.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Back up off the stickers. I need you to because
- 5:46Speaker 3: we're not going to wallow in that shit.
- 5:50Speaker 1: I'm just happy they gone.
- 5:52Speaker 4: And they made me a fan of a Spurs team
- 5:55Speaker 4: that I was kind of a fan of already. Like
- 5:58Speaker 4: the dude, and we've talked about throughout this year, I
- 6:02Speaker 4: don't know that I've wanted to see what's possible with
- 6:05Speaker 4: a player like this since we met LeBron, right? And
- 6:09Speaker 4: that was 20 some odd years ago. Like, understanding and
- 6:12Speaker 4: trying to figure out what's possible and what it could be,
- 6:15Speaker 4: like the wasted talent or the wasted potential that we
- 6:21Speaker 4: always run into where we're like, ooh, look at that guy.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Like, oh, Jose Cruz Jr. gonna be the next big.
- 6:25Speaker 4: Thing or this guy's gonna do this or a boxer
- 6:28Speaker 4: or a football player.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Oh, that's running back's gonna be fired. You gotta, can't
- 6:31Speaker 1: wait to see it.
- 6:33Speaker 4: When you start to see it get fulfilled in a
- 6:35Speaker 4: way that it has been so early in the game
- 6:37Speaker 4: for Victor.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Like, it's made me a fan of this last couple
- 6:41Speaker 1: of year journey.
- 6:42Speaker 4: And I know on The Athletic Show, I was like, hey,
- 6:44Speaker 4: I don't think it's a hot take, but if the
- 6:46Speaker 4: Spurs get to the finals and Victor Wimbinyama can start
- 6:49Speaker 4: talking that I'm the best player in the world shit
- 6:51Speaker 4: for real, that takes this thing to another stratosphere. And
- 6:56Speaker 4: not just to mention that you're going to see these
- 6:57Speaker 4: dudes again and again and again and again and again. Yeah, man, like,
- 7:01Speaker 4: this has been an amazing, an amazing, like, unfolding of storytelling,
- 7:06Speaker 4: this playoffs, that I think... when we look back on
- 7:09Speaker 4: it years from now. Because I love Stephon Castle. Like,
- 7:12Speaker 4: he's one of them dudes I saw in college who
- 7:14Speaker 4: was like, I can't wait till you get out of there.
- 7:16Speaker 4: So that he can play with cats who are better
- 7:18Speaker 4: on the floor and also do what he does.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Like, they got the Slash Brothers thing with him and
- 7:23Speaker 1: Dylan Harper. I just.
- 7:24Speaker 4: I'm picking the Spurs in seventh just because I want
- 7:27Speaker 4: to see the story play out the way that the.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I know the story would be huge.
- 7:33Speaker 4: Obviously it's the Knicks and it's been 50 years and
- 7:35Speaker 4: all that other stuff. But the beginning of this thing,
- 7:38Speaker 4: I think if it started this year, one, I'd be
- 7:43Speaker 4: happy about it because, you know, I know a lot
- 7:44Speaker 4: of Knicks fans and they, they cool with me.
- 7:46Speaker 1: I'm cool with them, but you know, I'm still a
- 7:48Speaker 1: Bulls fan to the heart. Right. But this, this.
- 7:50Speaker 4: First thing in Wimby, I'm, I'm truly looking forward to
- 7:53Speaker 4: seeing how this story plays out here over these next
- 7:55Speaker 4: seven games, man.
- 7:56Speaker 1: All right.
- 7:57Speaker 3: So I got two Spurs thoughts.
- 7:58Speaker 2: One, Remember when Greg Popovich was talking that shit about
- 8:02Speaker 2: how American players didn't want it and da-da-da, and they
- 8:04Speaker 2: didn't work hard enough, and how the international guys.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Were all that da-da-da-da-da. But this team, outside of Victor,
- 8:11Speaker 3: American as fuck. Man, it's my fault. I thought Shan
- 8:14Speaker 3: Pipple was from France. And he is not.
- 8:17Speaker 2: I mean, it was not an unreasonable proposition for me,
- 8:20Speaker 2: but anyway, they mighty American for what they have been talking.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Number two, as they were talking about saying where it
- 8:27Speaker 2: goes with Victor and and mentioning LeBron, to me, the
- 8:34Speaker 2: highest evolution of LeBron James, the peak LeBron James is
- 8:39Speaker 2: from 2012 to 2014, which is to say nine, 10
- 8:43Speaker 2: years into his career is when we're talking about the
- 8:46Speaker 2: peak of LeBron James. We're talking about 27, 28 years old, right?
- 8:51Speaker 3: Or 29, like getting in that space. Victor's 22, right?
- 8:55Speaker 2: And by the way, at that time, I would argue
- 8:57Speaker 2: that LeBron James was both the best offensive and best
- 9:00Speaker 2: defensive player in the NBA.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Which is on the board for Victor, who as of
- 9:05Speaker 2: yet does not have a way to get an easy shot. Like,
- 9:08Speaker 2: if there's a reason to pick the Knicks in this series,
- 9:10Speaker 2: to me, it is the fact that the Spurs don't
- 9:13Speaker 2: have anybody who you can count on. Like, oh, man,
- 9:16Speaker 2: it's a 7-2 run over there. Let's go get an
- 9:18Speaker 2: easy bucket right back. Nobody can go get an easy bucket.
- 9:24Speaker 4: But they got a lot of guys who can get
- 9:25Speaker 4: a lot of tough ones. And I know that's not
- 9:27Speaker 4: a dodge you want to live on. I know that's
- 9:28Speaker 4: not a dodge you want to live on. But with
- 9:31Speaker 4: Dylan Harper, like Dylan Harper's got this James Harden OKC
- 9:37Speaker 4: thing to him where it's like you get that dude
- 9:39Speaker 4: a team three years from now if.
- 9:40Speaker 1: He's not a spur, whatever the case may be, you'll
- 9:43Speaker 1: be all right. You'll be fine.
- 9:44Speaker 4: And to have him. And as much as they penetrate
- 9:48Speaker 4: the paint, that's the other thing, too. Like, who's OG
- 9:50Speaker 4: Ananobi gonna guard, right? Are they gonna put him a
- 9:53Speaker 4: lot on Wimby? Are they gonna float with Cat? Are
- 9:57Speaker 4: they gonna mess around and try to put a smaller
- 9:59Speaker 4: player like... Josh Hart the way that Alex Caruso was
- 10:02Speaker 4: designed to go up against Wimby? Like, who are their
- 10:06Speaker 4: best defenders forced to guard and are the players who
- 10:09Speaker 4: have Jalen Brunson or somebody else on? Like, this is
- 10:12Speaker 4: the Stephon Castle, Dylan Harper, Jalen Brunson series to me.
- 10:16Speaker 4: right that's gonna have i think two big games you
- 10:19Speaker 4: see victor victor even in game seven that wasn't some
- 10:22Speaker 4: go crazy get you 45 29 he did that in
- 10:25Speaker 4: game one it's gonna be jalen brunson dylan uh dylan
- 10:29Speaker 4: harper stefan castle those those three dudes are gonna figure
- 10:33Speaker 4: this series out for me and also you know injuries
- 10:35Speaker 4: you can't you can't fork uh cast those, but I
- 10:38Speaker 4: don't know that I think that either coach, right? Because
- 10:43Speaker 4: let's face it, you know Pop is saying something, doing
- 10:46Speaker 4: something with Mitch, right?
- 10:47Speaker 1: So you got Pop and Mitch against Mike Brown.
- 10:50Speaker 4: I think that the small dudes are going to tell
- 10:53Speaker 4: us who's going to win this series.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Now, their small dude is a clutch player, right? Like,
- 10:57Speaker 1: the Knicks.
- 10:58Speaker 4: What Jalen Brunson has become in such a short amount
- 11:01Speaker 4: of time, he, at Stevenson, here in this state, he
- 11:06Speaker 4: walked off the court, double bird, championship game to the crowd. Like,
- 11:10Speaker 4: he has been this dude his entire basketball career.
- 11:14Speaker 1: He went to Villanova, did that. Went to Dallas, did that.
- 11:17Speaker 4: Now comes to New York and is like, all right, cool,
- 11:19Speaker 4: mid-tier point guard.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Look at the money they're paying him.
- 11:21Speaker 4: Now he's at a point where they're running this thing
- 11:24Speaker 4: so much through Cat that in the fourth quarter, all
- 11:26Speaker 4: that pounding that I had to do on offense and
- 11:29Speaker 4: that pounding I was going to take on defense, now
- 11:31Speaker 4: I can be a little bit more fresh. Like, I'm...
- 11:34Speaker 4: There's so many cool stories in this finals.
- 11:37Speaker 1: That I just.
- 11:39Speaker 4: I don't want anybody's legacy to be broken.
- 11:42Speaker 1: And with these dudes, I don't think it can happen.
- 11:44Speaker 4: I don't think Victor's going to go out there and
- 11:46Speaker 4: have such a poor showing that you're like, all right,
- 11:49Speaker 4: what's going to happen next? Like, the shit that we're
- 11:51Speaker 4: doing with Chet right now. Like, I've never been as
- 11:53Speaker 4: high a Chet guy as other people. Like, he and
- 11:56Speaker 4: Evan Mobley have always been in that same category for me,
- 11:58Speaker 4: where it's like, those are terrific players, but... When you
- 12:01Speaker 4: need to count on something, can you count on them, right?
- 12:05Speaker 4: But with Victor, I know they're going to have to
- 12:08Speaker 4: count on him, and he's going to come through. With Jalen,
- 12:09Speaker 4: they're going to have to count on him, and if
- 12:11Speaker 4: they lose, it's because he didn't come through. Like the
- 12:14Speaker 4: end result with a lot of these, the finality in
- 12:17Speaker 4: a lot of these players' legacies for this year and
- 12:20Speaker 4: going forward, I feel like can be kind of displayed
- 12:24Speaker 4: for us over this next 10, 11 days.
- 12:26Speaker 2: You mentioned one guy that has the opportunity to full-on
- 12:29Speaker 2: make his legacy.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Who's that?
- 12:32Speaker 4: Cat.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Drake Anthony Towns, baby.
- 12:36Speaker 3: He got hits.
- 12:37Speaker 1: He got hits in these streets now.
- 12:39Speaker 3: Look, man, Cat's been the Knicks' best player.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Like, I think this has been lost because we're so
- 12:43Speaker 2: dialed in on the idea of Jalen Brunson. But the
- 12:46Speaker 2: truth is, their best player has been Cat.
- 12:51Speaker 3: He like, again, this is me talking.
- 12:53Speaker 2: I feel like I have to say this every time
- 12:55Speaker 2: we talk about it, because I don't feel like I
- 12:58Speaker 2: need to atone, because I wasn't wrong. If he was
- 13:00Speaker 2: doing this shit somewhere else, he would not have been
- 13:03Speaker 2: part of 14 feet of disappointment, right? There is no
- 13:07Speaker 2: disappointment here on this one. He's bringing it, and they
- 13:10Speaker 2: got big dudes in between. Well, I don't know about him,
- 13:13Speaker 2: but OG, Mitch Robinson, they got guys that you can
- 13:16Speaker 2: at least.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Ask to guard Victor.
- 13:17Speaker 2: The problem with Carl is I'm still not sure that
- 13:19Speaker 2: if you put him on Victor, he ain't going to
- 13:21Speaker 2: get three fouls in 45 seconds.
- 13:22Speaker 1: That's the thing, right?
- 13:24Speaker 3: But he hasn't been doing that.
- 13:25Speaker 1: He hasn't. He hasn't. The silly fact.
- 13:27Speaker 4: Like, the most interesting thing to me is that when
- 13:30Speaker 4: I first... When we first got introduced to Cat, when
- 13:33Speaker 4: Patino was coaching that Puerto Rico team, right?
- 13:35Speaker 1: It was a Calipari. I'm sorry.
- 13:36Speaker 3: No, a Calipari. It was a Dominican.
- 13:38Speaker 1: It was a Dominican team, right? Calipari was coaching that
- 13:40Speaker 1: Dominican team.
- 13:41Speaker 3: You just threw them all together, brother.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, they're going to come for
- 13:44Speaker 1: me anyway. Might as well. I'll let y'all be outside.
- 13:49Speaker 1: When he was coaching that team... And I'm like, this
- 13:52Speaker 1: is the number one player?
- 13:55Speaker 4: And then you start to truly see not only the
- 13:58Speaker 4: jump shot, but the decision-making in times offensively. He's a
- 14:02Speaker 4: good enough passer. He's nimble of foot enough to get
- 14:06Speaker 4: past a lot of big dude.
- 14:07Speaker 1: You can't put a big dude on him.
- 14:09Speaker 4: And then it all comes to fruition in this moment
- 14:11Speaker 4: where he doesn't have a teammate barking on him, always
- 14:15Speaker 4: looking down on him.
- 14:15Speaker 1: And looking at him crazy. Like, that man went to.
- 14:18Speaker 3: Like, seriously.
- 14:21Speaker 1: He went from... I just know what he is.
- 14:24Speaker 4: He went from playing with Jimmy Butler to Anthony Edwards
- 14:27Speaker 4: and not saying Anthony Edwards is barking on him, but
- 14:29Speaker 4: there's kind of that force there where it's like, all
- 14:31Speaker 4: right now, come on, I'm cold.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Why can't you be cold?
- 14:34Speaker 3: Right?
- 14:34Speaker 1: Come be colder.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Come be colder.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Let's be cold together, right? He goes to New York,
- 14:40Speaker 1: and that whole thing sets in. And Jalen Brunson has
- 14:43Speaker 1: that vibe, too. But Jalen's kind of the dude who
- 14:45Speaker 1: gets his work done in a way where you're like, damn,
- 14:46Speaker 1: I got to get this work done. He ain't going
- 14:48Speaker 1: to say nothing. I'm cool about it, right?
- 14:50Speaker 4: And now he's got the ball in a way that
- 14:52Speaker 4: Mike Brown probably wanted to do beginning of the season.
- 14:54Speaker 4: But you got to negotiate that relationship between the guy
- 14:58Speaker 4: that's getting all the accolades and the dude who might have–
- 15:01Speaker 4: your best future in his hands. And it's come together
- 15:04Speaker 4: in this 11 games fan of which like, I, it
- 15:07Speaker 4: still boggles my mind that this may be the best
- 15:12Speaker 4: span of basketball, not just in this franchise history, but
- 15:14Speaker 4: like in a, in a time that we've seen, like, I,
- 15:18Speaker 4: I don't know that I've seen teams just get run
- 15:20Speaker 4: off the floor, like they 16 seats.
- 15:22Speaker 1: And they've done that with teams that have max players. Yeah.
- 15:26Speaker 4: Like, Cleveland is paying the most money of any franchise.
- 15:32Speaker 1: And they're like, hey, get y'all asses out of here summarily.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Get out of here. Treating you like an eight seed.
- 15:38Speaker 1: You feel me? You got the woman in the front row.
- 15:42Speaker 4: We got Coco Jones at the crib in the front row.
- 15:46Speaker 1: And you're going out there and doing that? Like, come on, man.
- 15:49Speaker 4: Like, that Knicks team is the Carl Anthony Towns thing.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Like I said, Drake Anthony Towns, man.
- 15:57Speaker 4: He had to go underground for a couple years, and
- 16:00Speaker 4: now he popped back out with a hit or two.
- 16:02Speaker 2: See, now you making this difficult because I'm trying to
- 16:04Speaker 2: give him his props, and now you out here calling
- 16:06Speaker 2: him Drake, and you know I can't.
- 16:08Speaker 1: I know you do. You know.
- 16:10Speaker 3: Okay, so that's it. It was like you had a
- 16:12Speaker 3: whole plan.
- 16:13Speaker 1: These the melodies, though, Bomani. These ain't the hard ones.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Right?
- 16:17Speaker 4: When he's the hovered offense, when he's passing that bitch,
- 16:20Speaker 4: those are the melodies. Those are the hotline blings of
- 16:22Speaker 4: the world. This ain't him with 20 suburban goons looking
- 16:26Speaker 4: down on you from Toronto.
- 16:27Speaker 2: No, no, no, but I think what we need is
- 16:28Speaker 2: something a little different, though, because I don't really enjoy
- 16:30Speaker 2: Drake with the melodies myself. I understand the reference, but
- 16:33Speaker 2: what I'm saying is just need Drake to be a
- 16:36Speaker 2: good rapper.
- 16:38Speaker 3: I don't need Drake to be a gangster rapper. I...
- 16:42Speaker 3: You know, because here's what I.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Think I was asking for Carl. Is that the fouls?
- 16:46Speaker 2: This is what I think I was asking for Carl.
- 16:48Speaker 2: In retrospect, that was probably unfair. I was asking him
- 16:53Speaker 2: to be gangster in his raps and be sincere, and
- 16:57Speaker 2: he can't do that. But if he could just be
- 17:00Speaker 2: a good rapper, right? Just be a good rapper who
- 17:06Speaker 2: can rap in a variety of ways. Maybe it could
- 17:11Speaker 2: all just come together, right? Because when he get out
- 17:14Speaker 2: here and rap with the melodies, let's be honest, we
- 17:16Speaker 2: don't like that either. We just need him to be
- 17:20Speaker 2: a good rapper.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Sometimes he gets outside going.
- 17:25Speaker 4: And if you're in that outside atmosphere and you see
- 17:28Speaker 4: the environment, which is Josh Hart.
- 17:30Speaker 3: Hitting the corner three.
- 17:32Speaker 2: He tried to say he the best singing rapper of
- 17:34Speaker 2: all time.
- 17:35Speaker 3: And I'd like my rappers to be rappers.
- 17:37Speaker 1: He did say that.
- 17:38Speaker 3: He did say that.
- 17:40Speaker 2: I've never let him slide for that. I'm the best
- 17:43Speaker 2: shooting big man of all time.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Who cares?
- 17:46Speaker 1: Huh?
- 17:47Speaker 2: That's like I'm the best dancing accountant of all time.
- 17:51Speaker 3: I don't care.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Dude, he's taxes. It's taxes to get done. He been
- 17:56Speaker 2: up there doing some taxes, though.
- 17:58Speaker 1: No, no, he been killing it. He been killing it.
- 18:00Speaker 4: And this is going to be his Roots Picnic freestyle, maybe.
- 18:02Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying? Maybe this is the time
- 18:04Speaker 4: where he's.
- 18:05Speaker 3: You know, I hadn't thought about this.
- 18:09Speaker 2: I don't know how much attention you pay to the
- 18:11Speaker 2: Jay-Z Roots Picnic performance.
- 18:13Speaker 3: I admit, I did not really.
- 18:16Speaker 2: I feel like these Jay-Z shows are for Jay-Z lovers,
- 18:19Speaker 2: and I am a Jay-Z appreciator. And so I don't
- 18:22Speaker 2: need to interfere with their good time. You understand what
- 18:24Speaker 2: I'm saying?
- 18:25Speaker 1: That's what it is.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Though it does seem clear there's an album coming, right?
- 18:30Speaker 2: Like this feels like there's an album rollout. And let
- 18:34Speaker 2: us not forget, at the infamous Summer Jam in 2001,
- 18:38Speaker 2: he gave us a verse and a couple of bars,
- 18:41Speaker 2: and then he came back later with a heater. We
- 18:44Speaker 2: got takeover later. Could he possibly be setting it up?
- 18:49Speaker 2: to erase drake and i ask that because jay-z is
- 18:53Speaker 2: erase you rich like people that rich enjoy erasing people.
- 18:59Speaker 4: I think this is not only a setup to try
- 19:02Speaker 4: to do that but also to try to make sure
- 19:06Speaker 4: it is understood.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Like the last dance analogy where.
- 19:12Speaker 4: Hey, people getting a little froggy. A lot of conversations
- 19:14Speaker 4: happening around here that I'm really not... I'm not going
- 19:17Speaker 4: to say.
- 19:18Speaker 3: I'm not that guy.
- 19:18Speaker 4: Right, right, right. Like, I'm not going to say who
- 19:20Speaker 4: they think I am, but they're not thinking like they're
- 19:24Speaker 4: supposed to be thinking.
- 19:24Speaker 1: So let me drop this on you in COVID. By
- 19:26Speaker 1: the way, I'm the greatest of all time. Check out
- 19:28Speaker 1: what I did.
- 19:29Speaker 4: I came and got Robin out of Carmen Electra's bed
- 19:31Speaker 4: in a Vegas hotel. You know what I'm saying? I'm
- 19:33Speaker 4: the Don Dada of this shit. Like, I can see...
- 19:37Speaker 4: jay-z making that kind of play plus you know that
- 19:40Speaker 4: kind of dude doesn't say anything normally so right when
- 19:46Speaker 4: he has something to say like him stuttering and doing
- 19:49Speaker 4: the Nicki Minaj on that stuff again, like he's a
- 19:53Speaker 4: guy who catches, like it's classic athlete shit where it's.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Like, oh man, I don't read that. I don't hear
- 19:58Speaker 1: that shit.
- 19:59Speaker 4: These motherfuckers hear everything you say.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Everything you say.
- 20:04Speaker 4: And it just happened to be that time when you
- 20:06Speaker 4: at that bar, you know what I'm saying, in that
- 20:09Speaker 4: city that you didn't think you would be at, and
- 20:10Speaker 4: they pull up next to you like, I heard what
- 20:12Speaker 4: you said. And that's exactly what it seemed like you're
- 20:14Speaker 4: doing right now. You don't play certain games with certain
- 20:17Speaker 4: people unless you want a certain type of smoke.
- 20:19Speaker 1: And I don't think.
- 20:21Speaker 4: It's going to end well for either one of them
- 20:24Speaker 4: because you got the old heads getting slandered on the
- 20:26Speaker 4: socials right now and the young people looking like young people.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 20:31Speaker 3: Hey man, I'm going to say this.
- 20:33Speaker 2: If I'm Drake and Jay-Z want to start a battle,
- 20:37Speaker 2: this is unwinnable for you. I'm saying this with love
- 20:43Speaker 2: right now. The kind of love I have.
- 20:44Speaker 3: For the world. You can't win this. Yo, you little fuck.
- 20:50Speaker 3: I got money stacks bigger than you. That was 25
- 20:52Speaker 3: years ago.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Right.
- 20:55Speaker 4: Before Super Bowl halftime shows.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 20:58Speaker 3: There's no.
- 21:00Speaker 3: There's nothing Drake could do.
- 21:02Speaker 2: And twice Drake has got hit with the same thing
- 21:04Speaker 2: of misunderstanding that actually that person over there hates you.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Right.
- 21:09Speaker 2: They happen with push. It happened even with Kendrick. Like
- 21:12Speaker 2: you can act like you're above it. You're annoyed or
- 21:14Speaker 2: whatever it is.
- 21:16Speaker 3: I would leave this.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Everybody, all of those people that kind of came up there.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Take I would leave that alone. and let this man be,
- 21:25Speaker 2: and just see what it is that's about to happen.
- 21:28Speaker 2: I'm going to tell you what I give Jay-Z credit
- 21:30Speaker 2: for on this that I think we've kind of lost
- 21:32Speaker 2: sight of, which is he did not have to become
- 21:37Speaker 2: a good live performer, and he has.
- 21:40Speaker 3: I do not think that he is an excellent live performer.
- 21:42Speaker 2: That's why these shows cost too much money for me
- 21:44Speaker 2: to go see. This is why I say these are
- 21:47Speaker 2: for Jay-Z lovers. If you are a Jay-Z lover, then
- 21:50Speaker 2: you bond with the songs and how you all feel
- 21:53Speaker 2: about them and everybody knows every word. It kind of
- 21:55Speaker 2: turned into a sing-along and whatever he is or is
- 21:57Speaker 2: not as a live performer, if there's any slack, you
- 22:00Speaker 2: guys pick it up because it's just about the energy
- 22:02Speaker 2: that you guys share. I'm not in the crew in
- 22:05Speaker 2: that way, but He was a bad live performer when
- 22:09Speaker 2: it started because he didn't come up performing live. He
- 22:12Speaker 2: has become, if nothing else, a live performer capable for
- 22:15Speaker 2: the catalog that he has, which is a pretty big
- 22:17Speaker 2: and strong catalog.
- 22:19Speaker 3: And he didn't have to do that. He has done that.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Good for him.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Who are you like that for?
- 22:26Speaker 3: Oh, like OutKast, for example.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Right.
- 22:29Speaker 3: I went to see that show four different times when.
- 22:32Speaker 1: They made that tour.
- 22:33Speaker 4: Hmm.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Okay.
- 22:35Speaker 3: You know what I mean? Like that was the big one. Like, no, no, no.
- 22:38Speaker 3: I love this. The Ridin' Dirty Show is going to
- 22:41Speaker 3: be in Houston in August.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Okay. All right. You're going to be there.
- 22:44Speaker 3: I'll be there for that.
- 22:45Speaker 1: You're going to be there.
- 22:46Speaker 2: I'll be there in line with that. But for the
- 22:48Speaker 2: prices that Jay-Z charging, that's like if I loved the Knicks,
- 22:53Speaker 2: I would think about some of these crazy Knicks prices.
- 22:56Speaker 3: But I don't love the Knicks. I just want to
- 22:58Speaker 3: go to the gate.
- 22:59Speaker 4: So I realized how much I will or won't spend
- 23:02Speaker 4: for a ticket probably about 16, 17 months ago when
- 23:06Speaker 4: my beautiful little girl made it into the world. Because
- 23:10Speaker 4: before that, my wife and I did a lot of
- 23:14Speaker 4: concert hopping for a good two years here in Chicago.
- 23:17Speaker 4: Like anybody who came, we went to Vegas to go
- 23:19Speaker 4: see Usher, that kind of thing.
- 23:21Speaker 1: And I realized, you know what?
- 23:23Speaker 4: I like Kendrick, but should I spend $ 1, 200?
- 23:27Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 23:29Speaker 4: I enjoy SZA, even though some of the songs with
- 23:33Speaker 4: the caterpillars.
- 23:33Speaker 1: And the mushrooms and the frogmen.
- 23:36Speaker 4: It's kind of a Black Katy Perry kind of vibe
- 23:39Speaker 4: on the stage going on there.
- 23:40Speaker 1: But hey, do I like you that much?
- 23:43Speaker 4: The luxury items that we now behold that are concerts, man,
- 23:47Speaker 4: you're going to have to... I've seen some people. I
- 23:52Speaker 4: saw Wu-Tang on their tour that they came to the
- 23:56Speaker 4: city or whatever. That was manageable because they knew it
- 23:58Speaker 4: was going to be all dudes in the stands. But
- 24:02Speaker 4: let your woman tell you or let your significant other
- 24:05Speaker 4: tell you, oh, this person coming. You know immediately that
- 24:08Speaker 4: ticket just went up three X because she knows about it.
- 24:12Speaker 2: I went and saw Kendrick at MetLife and I think
- 24:16Speaker 2: I've talked about it on the show. I can't remember
- 24:18Speaker 2: because I've talked about this with a few other people,
- 24:20Speaker 2: but I don't.
- 24:21Speaker 3: Move back a few rows. over the years. I'm just
- 24:24Speaker 3: not paying these prices. I'm like, oh, I can see
- 24:25Speaker 3: the whole, yeah, I know I've talked about this.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Oh, I can see the whole video screen. This is
- 24:29Speaker 2: how the show is intended to be seen, right? It
- 24:31Speaker 2: is not for those people down there. I just can't,
- 24:34Speaker 2: I just, I refuse to pay these prices, right?
- 24:38Speaker 3: Like, I'm thinking about the last three or four concerts
- 24:40Speaker 3: I've been to. Nah, man, I'm back with the folks.
- 24:43Speaker 3: I'm back here with y'all, man. And honestly, I'm wondering
- 24:46Speaker 3: why y'all here.
- 24:47Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 24:48Speaker 3: Because we're not paying it.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Yeah, nah, and, you know, Let's be honest.
- 24:53Speaker 4: The clouds of smoke are the same on the floor
- 24:55Speaker 4: as they are on the 200 section.
- 24:58Speaker 3: They are.
- 24:59Speaker 1: They are. You know what I mean? You got your
- 25:02Speaker 1: vibes with you.
- 25:04Speaker 3: Good outdoor show.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Nice little amphitheater. You feel me?
- 25:09Speaker 4: Oh, man.
- 25:10Speaker 2: So, Forest Hills up here. Forest Hills where they used
- 25:12Speaker 2: to play the U.S. Tennis Open.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:14Speaker 2: It's a great concert venue. And it's this whole bunch
- 25:17Speaker 2: of people waiting to see who's going to go first.
- 25:20Speaker 1: They're going to kick it off?
- 25:21Speaker 2: Yeah, who gonna kick it off? And the last time
- 25:23Speaker 2: I was there, it was me. And people were like,
- 25:25Speaker 2: and I had people thank me.
- 25:27Speaker 4: Oh, dude, I used to be the asshole kid in
- 25:30Speaker 4: assemblies where I wanted to be the first person to
- 25:33Speaker 4: clap to see if I can kick off the clap
- 25:36Speaker 4: in times where we shouldn't clap.
- 25:37Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying?
- 25:38Speaker 4: So, I should be sitting there and see who else
- 25:40Speaker 4: is playing and all of a sudden they be like, hey,
- 25:42Speaker 4: they're still talking.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Jason being an asshole again.
- 25:45Speaker 4: Let's see who gonna kick it off and you get
- 25:48Speaker 4: a look, boy, it's like a Jedi kind of allegiance
- 25:51Speaker 4: state that just, you talk about.
- 25:52Speaker 1: The wave over the crowd. Oh my God.
- 25:55Speaker 4: Finally, some soccer mom is tired of, you know, whoever
- 25:59Speaker 4: she here with.
- 25:59Speaker 3: That's like, who gonna be the first person to go
- 26:02Speaker 3: get some food?
- 26:04Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 26:04Speaker 3: Which was always me.
- 26:07Speaker 4: But then you end up having people who are not
- 26:11Speaker 4: trying to go get the food and, you know, asking
- 26:14Speaker 4: you to bring shit back.
- 26:15Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Then you never come back to the spot. Yeah, yeah.
- 26:18Speaker 3: But you know what, though? You can ask whatever you want.
- 26:22Speaker 1: It's always an option. It's always an option.
- 26:24Speaker 3: Free country. You know what I'm saying?
- 26:26Speaker 2: Coming up next, my man Golf got some thoughts about

- 29:05Speaker 3: It's like therapy for your career.
- 29:06Speaker 2: All right, we are back with Jason Goff, and you
- 29:10Speaker 2: sent me a text a couple days ago. You want
- 29:13Speaker 2: to talk about this AJ Brown trade because you feel
- 29:15Speaker 2: like anything is possible, and I need to know what
- 29:17Speaker 2: you mean.
- 29:18Speaker 4: So the New England Patriots have had interesting storylines for
- 29:24Speaker 4: being a not-so-interesting franchise for the most part for like
- 29:28Speaker 4: 20 years. All them Super Bowls, it was always something.
- 29:30Speaker 4: And then you find out they got a murderer in
- 29:32Speaker 4: the locker room. And then you find out that Rob
- 29:36Speaker 4: Gronkowski is just the wildest of boys.
- 29:40Speaker 1: And that kind of keeps it rolling for you.
- 29:43Speaker 4: This new iteration of this New England Patriots thing, right?
- 29:47Speaker 4: And we know the entire thing that's going on right now.
- 29:51Speaker 1: A.J.
- 29:52Speaker 4: Brown being dropped into this situation puts everything on the board.
- 29:58Speaker 4: You and I remember a time where Randy Moss was
- 30:03Speaker 4: left for dead with the Raiders, wearing that nasty.
- 30:07Speaker 1: Nasty number. It just looked nasty in the Raiders. Yeah,
- 30:11Speaker 1: it just looked nasty.
- 30:12Speaker 4: Then he pulls up in New England, and he's running
- 30:15Speaker 4: past Jarrell Revis, and he's running past Asante Savage. He's
- 30:19Speaker 4: running past all these dudes. You're like, holy shit, he
- 30:21Speaker 4: has been reborn. I know the Randy Moss thing, Obviously,
- 30:26Speaker 4: there's only one Randy. But having that kind of vibe
- 30:30Speaker 4: in that city with that kind of dude, with that
- 30:33Speaker 4: city having to root for that kind of dude's success,
- 30:36Speaker 4: crazy to me. And then you have the fact that
- 30:39Speaker 4: Boston people, Bostonians, are worried about the knee, right?
- 30:42Speaker 1: So that being an issue. And is A.J. Brown at
- 30:46Speaker 1: some point here? I mean, it's football.
- 30:48Speaker 4: When is he going to start to crumble for real?
- 30:50Speaker 4: How much of the last two years was A.J. not...
- 30:54Speaker 4: Getting open, as people think, or not just dealing with
- 30:57Speaker 4: the quarterback, or being right.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Like, everything is on the board.
- 31:02Speaker 4: Now you drop that situation in to a quarterback who,
- 31:06Speaker 4: we talk about Caleb Williams here because we're supposed to.
- 31:09Speaker 1: That dude went to the Super Bowl last year, right?
- 31:12Speaker 1: And he did it.
- 31:14Speaker 4: God bless Keyshawn Booty, right? But I found out who
- 31:17Speaker 4: he was after a while.
- 31:18Speaker 1: Because it's like one of those dudes you're like, who
- 31:20Speaker 1: the hell is this? He's the only one that's really
- 31:22Speaker 1: making noise. What's going on over there?
- 31:25Speaker 4: That receiver room, he was, I mean, he stepped on
- 31:27Speaker 4: digs and seen his better days, right? So Drake May
- 31:31Speaker 4: did all that. And let's face it, you know, he's
- 31:34Speaker 4: playing like a young quarterback in times where you're like,
- 31:37Speaker 4: all right, you need him to play like something else.
- 31:39Speaker 4: but got them to the Super Bowl.
- 31:41Speaker 1: A.J.
- 31:42Speaker 4: Brown gets dropped into that situation. I'm telling you right now,
- 31:46Speaker 4: if I'm A.J. Brown, y'all got to throw me the ball.
- 31:49Speaker 4: Y'all brought me here. And the moment the ball doesn't
- 31:52Speaker 4: come to me, I have a young, you know, duckling
- 31:55Speaker 4: of a quarterback here that I can kind of mold
- 31:58Speaker 4: in any way I want. And I promise you, there
- 32:01Speaker 4: ain't going to be no two or three game stretch
- 32:03Speaker 4: where A.J.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Brown don't get the ball.
- 32:05Speaker 4: Because if their coaching situation stays as is, I'm wanting
- 32:10Speaker 4: to think that the dude who was reading books on
- 32:12Speaker 4: the sideline might have some other things up his sleeve
- 32:17Speaker 4: when it comes to addressing the coach who you don't
- 32:20Speaker 4: need no more heat.
- 32:21Speaker 3: Yo, I was about to say.
- 32:23Speaker 1: You don't need no more heat.
- 32:25Speaker 3: That man need dubs. That man need dubs.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Like, I feel like right now, Mike Vrabel has been
- 32:32Speaker 2: more responsive to people asking him to do a little
- 32:36Speaker 2: bit more than he has been in a very long time.
- 32:38Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 32:39Speaker 2: Look, what Mike Vrabel don't have the capacity for right
- 32:42Speaker 2: now is having to take no shit from nobody else.
- 32:46Speaker 2: Because right now, it's some shit that he got to
- 32:48Speaker 2: take that he can't offer no pushback on at all, right?
- 32:52Speaker 3: That at some point, he.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Had the leverage and the equity in the situation, staying
- 32:57Speaker 2: firm on. He ain't got that really right now anywhere
- 33:00Speaker 2: he goes.
- 33:01Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? He's got like, how do
- 33:03Speaker 3: I make everybody happy under these current circumstances? I feel
- 33:06Speaker 3: like that's where he's at. You tell me if I'm wrong.
- 33:09Speaker 4: Let me tell you something from personal experience, long, long, long, long, long,
- 33:14Speaker 4: long time ago. There's nothing like waking up knowing that
- 33:22Speaker 4: the mistake has not been forgiven. And every day you
- 33:29Speaker 4: hoping that that day the mistake will be forgiven, whether
- 33:33Speaker 4: it be from your employer or whether it be from
- 33:35Speaker 4: your creator up above. The reason why I say your
- 33:38Speaker 4: creator up above is you're like, ooh, could put this
- 33:41Speaker 4: kind of paint on me.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Because every morning you wake up and you see somebody's back.
- 33:48Speaker 4: You ain't seen their face.
- 33:50Speaker 1: In a month full of Sundays. You ain't seen their face.
- 33:53Speaker 4: They're not sleeping looking at you. You used to get
- 33:57Speaker 4: up before them every time. You a football player.
- 33:59Speaker 1: You a coach. You up at 5.15.
- 34:01Speaker 3: No, no, no, no.
- 34:02Speaker 1: No, no, no, no.
- 34:03Speaker 4: Shorty is up at 4.30.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Planning her next Pilates appointment, and the rest of the
- 34:09Speaker 1: day is on your dime.
- 34:11Speaker 3: Making breakfast for one.
- 34:12Speaker 1: One.
- 34:15Speaker 4: Not even these babies. Guess who's going to have to
- 34:17Speaker 4: feed these babies? You play it, Mr. Football Man. So
- 34:21Speaker 4: now you get to get in the car, which is
- 34:24Speaker 4: your only safe place.
- 34:27Speaker 1: And on your.
- 34:27Speaker 4: Drive to work, you get to think about, oh, shit,
- 34:32Speaker 4: did A.J. Brown get the ball enough this Sunday? Yo, yo, hey,
- 34:38Speaker 4: there are some tough places to be. There are certain
- 34:41Speaker 4: men and women and anybody else who understand things that
- 34:46Speaker 4: That ain't going to stop being stressful until you break.
- 34:51Speaker 3: Hold on, hold on.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Is he spending that extra time in the car, in
- 34:56Speaker 2: the parking lot at the office, or in the driveway
- 34:59Speaker 2: at the crib?
- 35:00Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? I'm going to just take
- 35:01Speaker 3: some time in the car?
- 35:03Speaker 4: So from what they've told me in previous experiences, you
- 35:11Speaker 4: never want to do it around the crib. Because the
- 35:16Speaker 4: problem might be they come outside and then it's like, oh,
- 35:21Speaker 4: is this where you were? Is this where you're doing?
- 35:24Speaker 4: Are you used to being in the car this long outside.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Of the crib? No, no, no. Is something wrong?
- 35:29Speaker 3: You don't want to come inside?
- 35:30Speaker 1: What's so wrong with your house? Is this why? Right?
- 35:34Speaker 1: You don't want to be home?
- 35:35Speaker 4: No, you're pulling up to the job extra, extra early.
- 35:38Speaker 4: I'm talking about gym bag, new clothes. Like, you're taking
- 35:42Speaker 4: showers at the gig. We are about to find out.
- 35:45Speaker 4: People talk about how true to the game they are.
- 35:48Speaker 4: Mike Braybill is about to dive so far into football.
- 35:51Speaker 4: This is a Super Bowl champion, by the way, player,
- 35:54Speaker 4: and now a dude who has visited in his first
- 35:57Speaker 4: year as a head coach on his former team. You
- 36:01Speaker 4: are never going to see a man so deeply invested
- 36:04Speaker 4: in football as he is. And if he don't get
- 36:07Speaker 4: it done, I'm telling you right now, that boy A.J.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Brown, he know what's happening. No distractions? What? What? No distractions, fam.
- 36:16Speaker 4: I am coming with a circus full of distractions, and
- 36:20Speaker 4: I dare you to say something to me.
- 36:21Speaker 1: What you going to say? The moment I'm not in line,
- 36:26Speaker 1: they looking at you. The moment. I've shown my character.
- 36:31Speaker 1: How about you?
- 36:32Speaker 4: You know?
- 36:32Speaker 1: Nah, man. It's a tough spot. It's a tough spot.
- 36:35Speaker 1: The A.J. Brown thing.
- 36:37Speaker 4: But that's the other thing, too. They didn't push the
- 36:40Speaker 4: ball down the field. They didn't push the ball down
- 36:42Speaker 4: the field at all. And if you got A.J. Brown,
- 36:45Speaker 4: put that bitch up two, three times. Make somebody miss.
- 36:50Speaker 1: I'm looking forward.
- 36:51Speaker 4: And also how it's received from the Philadelphia Eagles fans
- 36:54Speaker 4: and Jalen Hurts.
- 36:55Speaker 1: You're throwing to a bunch of kids and Devontae Smith now.
- 36:59Speaker 2: Yo, and what people don't get is that when A.J.
- 37:03Speaker 2: would be in the locker room saying what he was saying,
- 37:06Speaker 2: Guess who was over there saying the same thing.
- 37:08Speaker 3: In a quieter voice? Devontae Smith. Like, A.J.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Brown is not the only guy who saw what the
- 37:18Speaker 2: problem was. I promise you, okay? It was not just him.
- 37:24Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts is not out of the woods yet, brother.
- 37:27Speaker 4: Yeah. He's not. Yeah, but, you know, he'll always go
- 37:31Speaker 4: down with the Super Bowl, Super Bowl MVP. He'll go
- 37:34Speaker 4: down with that, you know, all the bread that he's made. Like,
- 37:36Speaker 4: there's certain– that's another thing, too. I feel like we
- 37:39Speaker 4: see career arcs and we think that they're supposed to, like,
- 37:41Speaker 4: be these long things.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Sometimes you get that two- or three-year bump. You're like,
- 37:45Speaker 1: I'm a cool player. Yeah.
- 37:46Speaker 4: I can go back to being whatever the hell it
- 37:48Speaker 4: is I need to be, right? Like, let's be real.
- 37:51Speaker 4: There was a time where Russell Wilson and VP talked this, that,
- 37:54Speaker 4: and the other.
- 37:57Speaker 1: Real Russell Wilson.
- 37:58Speaker 4: Prime, like, where you were like, this is, he's a
- 38:02Speaker 4: difference maker. How many years were those?
- 38:05Speaker 1: Three?
- 38:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Right?
- 38:07Speaker 4: Like, we get so used to seeing quarterbacks for so
- 38:10Speaker 4: long that we're like, oh, yeah, you got years, what,
- 38:14Speaker 4: four through 11 where you're going to have this guy. Yeah,
- 38:16Speaker 4: but about three of those bitches are going to be
- 38:18Speaker 4: the ones that you need to capitalize on because it's
- 38:20Speaker 4: going to be when he's playing his best ball, probably
- 38:22Speaker 4: making the most money and depleting the team the most.
- 38:26Speaker 4: Maybe just maybe Jalen Hurts has hit that point, right?
- 38:29Speaker 4: Whatever the relationships are, how many offensive play calls he's
- 38:32Speaker 4: had to cycle in and out, whether it's his fault
- 38:34Speaker 4: or you could blame the results on that.
- 38:36Speaker 1: And on top of it, he's won something.
- 38:38Speaker 4: So he's, you know, sometimes you look at dudes and
- 38:41Speaker 4: you know they got the drop on everybody. Where it's like,
- 38:44Speaker 4: he know the real inventory. You know, he got the
- 38:47Speaker 4: awareness that he should have. He just don't talk to
- 38:51Speaker 4: y'all like you want him to talk to you. But
- 38:53Speaker 4: you know what it is? Dude, I made it from
- 38:56Speaker 4: high school to two big time programs. One on both stages.
- 39:00Speaker 1: Got to this. Wasn't expected to do much.
- 39:04Speaker 4: One how much more you need you want to keep
- 39:07Speaker 4: telling me I'm not the one you need to win
- 39:09Speaker 4: with cool we'll figure that out when you decide I'm
- 39:11Speaker 4: not the one to win with anymore but until then
- 39:13Speaker 4: get these checks.
- 39:15Speaker 2: Yeah and look man the fall off can happen at
- 39:18Speaker 2: any point just about with anybody not saying that Jalen
- 39:21Speaker 2: Hurts is set to fall off but there yeah you're
- 39:23Speaker 2: right there is not a set arc right there's not
- 39:27Speaker 2: a set like when you plot it on the graph,
- 39:30Speaker 2: what the curve is going to look like. It can
- 39:32Speaker 2: go a few different ways, but they definitely putting that
- 39:35Speaker 2: boy on the clock this year.
- 39:36Speaker 3: Like, this is going to be a lot.
- 39:37Speaker 2: And also, another thing they forgetting too, this is a
- 39:40Speaker 2: year 10 Saquon Barkley.
- 39:43Speaker 3: Running backs come back different people all the time.
- 39:47Speaker 1: He needs a.
- 39:50Speaker 4: The Eagles thing, relying on the defense as much as
- 39:54Speaker 4: they're going to need to continue to run. By the way,
- 39:56Speaker 4: it's crazy because the Reggie White of our time got
- 39:59Speaker 4: traded to the Rams. It's just another move, by the way.
- 40:04Speaker 1: But no, we'll get back to that. Put a pin
- 40:08Speaker 1: in it. Yeah, yeah.
- 40:09Speaker 4: But these dudes, like, I don't... the Eagles have everything
- 40:14Speaker 4: on defense that I think you need to contend. But
- 40:17Speaker 4: now it's the onus is going to be more so
- 40:20Speaker 4: on a quarterback who you've got questions about. And like
- 40:22Speaker 4: you mentioned, Saquon Barkley, like rushing for 2000 yards. I
- 40:25Speaker 4: mean that, that 350 carry or 1700 plus yard thing,
- 40:29Speaker 4: like Josh Jacobs, Derek Henry, hell you go back to
- 40:33Speaker 4: when it was my man, Leonard, Larry Johnson, Kansas city
- 40:37Speaker 4: chiefs running back. Like, Once these seasons happen, you expect
- 40:40Speaker 4: for the fall-off, and maybe that fall-off is now.
- 40:43Speaker 1: You see what Jalen Hurts.
- 40:45Speaker 4: Isn't when the running game isn't what it's supposed to
- 40:48Speaker 4: be around him. One, I don't know who the hell
- 40:52Speaker 4: is going to win that division. Two, I wouldn't be
- 40:54Speaker 4: surprised if the Eagles have an underwhelming season, to say
- 40:57Speaker 4: the least.
- 40:59Speaker 2: What I was going to say about that Miles Garrett
- 41:00Speaker 2: trade is they're trying to talk like Aaron Donald might
- 41:05Speaker 2: come back.
- 41:08Speaker 3: And look, if Aaron.
- 41:09Speaker 2: Donald comes back, I don't know how good Aaron Donald
- 41:13Speaker 2: would be. But it's terrifying to consider. It's terrifying to consider.
- 41:20Speaker 2: And it would take all of my well-reasoned, 100% correct
- 41:27Speaker 2: Matthew Stafford takes. And they would just be completely irrelevant
- 41:30Speaker 2: because it wouldn't matter because they would never score. They
- 41:32Speaker 2: would never give up any points. And then Matthew Stafford
- 41:34Speaker 2: would have a second Super Bowl championship. And I would
- 41:36Speaker 2: just be like, yeah, whatever.
- 41:38Speaker 3: Yeah, you got it.
- 41:39Speaker 1: You got it, man.
- 41:39Speaker 4: This has been quite the reckoning these last few years.
- 41:43Speaker 4: The Josh Allen, how they came for you after Josh.
- 41:45Speaker 3: No, no, no.
- 41:46Speaker 2: It ain't been no reckoning. Josh Allen different. Josh Allen
- 41:49Speaker 2: defied everything we ever knew.
- 41:51Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying?
- 41:52Speaker 1: Carl Anthony Towns now.
- 41:54Speaker 2: I'm glad to be on board with the Josh Allen one.
- 41:57Speaker 2: And the Carl Anthony Towns, good for him. The Matthew
- 42:00Speaker 2: Stafford is people making shit up. Like when Josh Allen,
- 42:06Speaker 2: they did it for a little while, but then he
- 42:07Speaker 2: came out and did a.
- 42:08Speaker 3: Bunch of stuff.
- 42:09Speaker 2: With Stafford, we was there. We was not saying this.
- 42:12Speaker 2: And then one day we just decided to. And I'm like,
- 42:13Speaker 2: who pressed the button?
- 42:15Speaker 3: Right?
- 42:16Speaker 2: Because at least with Josh Allen, they was talking that
- 42:17Speaker 2: crazy shit and it didn't make any sense to me.
- 42:19Speaker 2: But I was there the whole time. I saw how
- 42:21Speaker 2: it progressed. And then it changed into something else. With Stafford,
- 42:23Speaker 2: I was there when y'all wasn't even saying nothing. And
- 42:25Speaker 2: then one day you act like you had been saying
- 42:27Speaker 2: this the whole time.
- 42:29Speaker 3: You understand what I'm saying?
- 42:31Speaker 2: If they go out there with the world-class wrecking crew,
- 42:34Speaker 2: then I don't know what we're supposed to do. Somebody
- 42:39Speaker 2: might take that as being an insult. What if somebody
- 42:41Speaker 2: started calling the Thunder the world-class wrecking crew?
- 42:44Speaker 1: I would understand. I knew you would. I would understand.
- 42:48Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 42:49Speaker 3: The one they call Lonzo.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Like, oh, you're so shimmery.
- 42:56Speaker 4: You're so shimmery.
- 43:00Speaker 3: Look at that stethoscope.
- 43:02Speaker 4: Well, I mean, hey, these days, all you got to
- 43:05Speaker 4: do is call yourself a doctor and you'll be.
- 43:07Speaker 1: In like Flynn.
- 43:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 43:08Speaker 3: Yeah, that did happen.
- 43:09Speaker 1: Boy, has that been a thing in my house. Oh
- 43:11Speaker 1: my God.
- 43:13Speaker 3: Oh, that's right.
- 43:13Speaker 2: So, for those of you who don't know, God's wife
- 43:16Speaker 2: is a therapist.
- 43:18Speaker 1: Yes. Certified.
- 43:19Speaker 2: And I imagine that she has not been too happy
- 43:22Speaker 2: with that lady they've been talking about, the Dr.
- 43:24Speaker 3: Bryant lady.
- 43:25Speaker 1: You want to piss a doctor off? Call yourself a doctor.
- 43:29Speaker 1: Call yourself a doctor in front of a doctor.
- 43:32Speaker 3: All I'm going to say is this.
- 43:35Speaker 2: I saw that woman one time with Cam Newton, and
- 43:40Speaker 2: they seem to be what and what. Like, it was
- 43:44Speaker 2: a battle of wits, and Cam was in his weight class.
- 43:48Speaker 2: And I'm not trying to insult Cam Newton, but I
- 43:51Speaker 2: am saying that he ain't no doctor.
- 43:53Speaker 4: Bruh.
- 43:54Speaker 1: Bruh.
- 43:55Speaker 3: That's all I'm saying.
- 43:56Speaker 4: We are, it's so amazing, the age that we are in,
- 44:02Speaker 4: and the reason why I wean myself off of social
- 44:04Speaker 4: media the way I have, because I walk around and I.
- 44:07Speaker 1: Go, you know what?
- 44:08Speaker 4: Ain't nobody having these conversations outside of this. Like, who's
- 44:11Speaker 4: talking like this outside of the Internet? Who is going
- 44:14Speaker 4: place to place saying, I am a doctor. I have
- 44:18Speaker 4: this many degrees. I think she said she was going
- 44:21Speaker 4: to run for mayor, but bowed out because the candidate
- 44:24Speaker 4: said she was going to take too many votes. They
- 44:26Speaker 4: went back and was like, she never filed paperwork, but
- 44:28Speaker 4: she made T-shirts.
- 44:30Speaker 1: And sold them and raised funds.
- 44:32Speaker 3: And I was like, oh, okay.
- 44:34Speaker 4: But my wife would tell you, man, I think everybody
- 44:36Speaker 4: on this planet is a scammer that I don't know personally.
- 44:40Speaker 4: And too many times the shoe is fit. I'm more
- 44:45Speaker 4: right than I'm wrong. I look at people, I'm a scammer.
- 44:48Speaker 1: And then we keep it moving. Y'all don't even have
- 44:50Speaker 1: to do that.
- 44:51Speaker 2: My thing with the internet is, at this point, it
- 44:54Speaker 2: is full of people that raise what I think is
- 44:56Speaker 2: a perfectly reasonable question, which is why should I listen
- 44:59Speaker 2: to you?
- 45:02Speaker 1: Right.
- 45:02Speaker 2: And by the way, have a doctor in front of
- 45:04Speaker 2: your name is an insufficient reason.
- 45:08Speaker 3: Like when I saw that.
- 45:09Speaker 2: Woman had a doctor name plate chain, I'm like, come on, man.
- 45:14Speaker 3: I ain't listening to you.
- 45:16Speaker 1: It's kind of like you mentioned with the taxes thing.
- 45:19Speaker 4: Like, if I see my accountant, you know, out on
- 45:24Speaker 4: a Tuesday.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Night where I'm like, I'm not supposed to be out.
- 45:28Speaker 3: I'm like, what? No, no, no, no, no.
- 45:30Speaker 1: You can't do this for me no more.
- 45:32Speaker 3: Yeah, the internet is just overwhelming.
- 45:34Speaker 2: Like, whoa, whoa, whoa. Why am I listening? Why would
- 45:38Speaker 2: I listen to you? That's all I want to know. Basically,
- 45:42Speaker 2: everybody doing an impression of a morning radio show.
- 45:46Speaker 1: There it is.
- 45:47Speaker 4: Right?
- 45:47Speaker 2: It's that level of depth. It's that type of content.
- 45:50Speaker 2: It's the discussions and topics that you have there. There's
- 45:54Speaker 2: a reason why Morning Radio does it and then social
- 45:56Speaker 2: media programs. It's like a bi-directional thing with each of
- 45:59Speaker 2: those entities are programming each other, basically. And that's where
- 46:04Speaker 2: she was turning up. And I'm like, damn, people really
- 46:06Speaker 2: just need somebody to listen to, huh? That's what it
- 46:09Speaker 2: really come down to. But I had not thought about
- 46:12Speaker 2: how mad your wife would be. Because I can think
- 46:13Speaker 2: about my mama. My mama is the sweetest woman I know.
- 46:15Speaker 2: But one thing my mama can't stand is when somebody
- 46:18Speaker 2: is running, what is to her, an obvious scam about
- 46:21Speaker 2: how smart they are. That for her, because she's a
- 46:24Speaker 2: rather modest person. She'd be like, I'd be out here
- 46:27Speaker 2: laying low for y'all. But no, no, hell no.
- 46:30Speaker 3: Not here.
- 46:30Speaker 1: No, no, no.
- 46:31Speaker 3: I see through that.
- 46:32Speaker 4: The best is the conversations that I'm around and my
- 46:35Speaker 4: wife doesn't tell people. Right. So we'll just be talking
- 46:38Speaker 4: and people will be talking around her and they'll be
- 46:39Speaker 4: saying things and it'll be jargony and it'll be, you know,
- 46:42Speaker 4: all the gaslighting will come out and narcissism will come out.
- 46:46Speaker 1: And I just I just look at her and she'll
- 46:47Speaker 1: just be looking at me. I'm like, man, you could
- 46:49Speaker 1: thrash this person right now. What's going on? And she goes, Jason,
- 46:52Speaker 1: if I did that all the time, we wouldn't get anywhere.
- 46:55Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, there it is. There it is. You
- 46:59Speaker 1: got it? You don't have to react? I won't react
- 47:02Speaker 1: for you.
- 47:03Speaker 4: We'll just continue to let this coach or this expert
- 47:06Speaker 4: or this whatever it is get through whatever they have
- 47:09Speaker 4: to get through.
- 47:09Speaker 1: Nah, it's a wild world. And the fact that these platforms,
- 47:13Speaker 1: like Cam's got a huge platform, right? There are people.
- 47:17Speaker 4: Who don't know what we know or don't have the
- 47:20Speaker 4: discernment that we have who have had or place that
- 47:25Speaker 4: kind of stigma on the services that you're purporting to
- 47:27Speaker 4: be giving to people, right? So it's like, I'm already
- 47:30Speaker 4: gun-shy going into this, and on top of it, you're
- 47:33Speaker 4: a scammer?
- 47:33Speaker 1: Like, oh, I shouldn't believe in any of this as
- 47:35Speaker 1: it is.
- 47:36Speaker 4: And then you throw people right back into the spin
- 47:37Speaker 4: cycle of not talking to somebody when they need to
- 47:40Speaker 4: talk to somebody.
- 47:41Speaker 1: It's a wild, wild ecosphere that's going on out there.
- 47:44Speaker 4: But hey, man, you know, as long as I got
- 47:46Speaker 4: the thunder to watch or not watch anymore, I'm happy.
- 47:48Speaker 1: I'm happy.
- 47:49Speaker 3: Last thing before we get out of here.
- 47:51Speaker 1: Yeah, man.
- 47:53Speaker 3: Russell Wilson going to be doing TV.
- 47:55Speaker 1: For who?
- 47:57Speaker 3: CBS.
- 47:58Speaker 1: Doing what?
- 48:00Speaker 3: He's going to be an analyst.
- 48:01Speaker 2: I think he's going to be in the studio.
- 48:04Speaker 1: Really?
- 48:06Speaker 3: Talk about anything is possible. I have no idea how
- 48:10Speaker 3: he's going to sound.
- 48:13Speaker 1: Why do you look so excited?
- 48:14Speaker 4: Because we're about to have the Alfonso Ribeiro conversation.
- 48:18Speaker 2: Laughter.
- 48:20Speaker 4: So there's a certain age you have to be. I
- 48:25Speaker 4: remember seeing Alfonso Ribeiro on Silver Spoons.
- 48:28Speaker 1: As a kid, right?
- 48:30Speaker 2: He had like a breakboard he used to advertise also,
- 48:32Speaker 2: but yes.
- 48:34Speaker 1: Damn, that's crazy. Your memory is nuts.
- 48:38Speaker 4: But then people got introduced to him on a larger stage,
- 48:41Speaker 4: you know, NBC hit show, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
- 48:46Speaker 1: Every time I see Alfonso Ribeiro talk, I'm always like, well, shit,
- 48:51Speaker 1: that is Alfonso.
- 48:53Speaker 4: Like, I don't do the Carlton thing. I go, oh,
- 48:56Speaker 4: that's because I can only imagine how hard it is
- 48:59Speaker 4: for him to walk the streets of L.A. or wherever
- 49:01Speaker 4: he lives and everybody always, Carlton, or do the Carlton dance, right?
- 49:06Speaker 1: I can't wait to see Russell Wilson because.
- 49:10Speaker 4: Russell is kind of, he's morphed. Like, you know, he's
- 49:13Speaker 4: done his thing, right? Like, he did the reverse Kelsey. Like,
- 49:18Speaker 4: Ciara dropped that magic dust on him. Like, Lord, give
- 49:22Speaker 4: me a more refined future.
- 49:24Speaker 1: You know what I mean? No pun intended. You know
- 49:27Speaker 1: what I'm saying?
- 49:28Speaker 4: And then he came out, still Russell, still cool, still
- 49:32Speaker 4: daddying like a champ.
- 49:34Speaker 1: But he wearing leather.
- 49:36Speaker 4: Right?
- 49:36Speaker 1: He got to fade.
- 49:37Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying? He's not going to Bo
- 49:40Speaker 4: Ricks for his haircuts anymore. Like, there's a certain thing
- 49:42Speaker 4: that's going on.
- 49:43Speaker 1: The reverse, Kelsey. I'm wondering, do I have to go
- 49:48Speaker 1: on the first Sunday I see him? Oh, shit. Is
- 49:51Speaker 1: that Alfonso?
- 49:53Speaker 2: It's like, I'm wondering.
- 49:57Speaker 1: Are we going to get Russ? Are we going to
- 49:59Speaker 1: get R-Dub? Are we going to get Broncos Nation? Let's ride.
- 50:04Speaker 4: Are we going to get that unfortunate picture that is
- 50:07Speaker 4: going to haunt him from draft day forever, by the way?
- 50:11Speaker 2: There's the other one with him in the Hawaiian shirt
- 50:14Speaker 2: standing outside of the hotel.
- 50:16Speaker 1: I haven't seen that one.
- 50:18Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just like, it's obviously a shirt that Ciara
- 50:20Speaker 2: threw out when she moved in.
- 50:24Speaker 1: He got to the Christmas drawers.
- 50:26Speaker 2: That's what it is.
- 50:29Speaker 1: When you go through the underwear pile, you're like, I'm
- 50:31Speaker 1: down to the Christmas drawers. I need to do some laundry.
- 50:33Speaker 2: I want to hear about when Russell Wilson came to
- 50:38Speaker 2: his house that day and he went in his closet
- 50:39Speaker 2: and nothing was there.
- 50:40Speaker 1: All his shit was gone? I remember when that happened
- 50:43Speaker 1: to me. You know what I mean?
- 50:45Speaker 4: Women will tell you, this shit you've been wearing wouldn't
- 50:47Speaker 4: have got me normally. But we're going to fix this
- 50:51Speaker 4: up because I like you.
- 50:52Speaker 1: No, no, no. If we get.
- 50:55Speaker 4: I'm telling you, if we get R-Dub instead of Russell, dog,
- 51:01Speaker 4: I will... I will have my Is That Alfonso moment.
- 51:04Speaker 4: I'm going to text you every Sunday about it.
- 51:06Speaker 1: I see it.
- 51:07Speaker 4: I promise you. I hope Russell go out there, bare tone.
- 51:10Speaker 4: I hope he start doing shit, saying shit.
- 51:13Speaker 3: Anything is possible.
- 51:15Speaker 1: It is, though, right? It is. Anything is on the board.
- 51:19Speaker 1: I hope so. I hope so. Sierra, you know what
- 51:23Speaker 1: to do. You know what I mean?
- 51:25Speaker 4: Send him to work on a little plate, you know,
- 51:27Speaker 4: like Dirk's wife used to.
- 51:28Speaker 1: You know what I mean? And still does, probably. I'm sure.
- 51:31Speaker 3: I'm sure she still does.
- 51:33Speaker 1: Oh, yes, she does. Yeah. Two plates down.
- 51:36Speaker 3: Yeah, like, he can't even eat the food they got
- 51:38Speaker 3: at the office no more. You know what I'm saying? Like,
- 51:40Speaker 3: he done seen a whole nother way.
- 51:41Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 51:42Speaker 1: I mean, and his wife has, too. Like, she watches, though. Fair.
- 51:46Speaker 4: Fair.
- 51:46Speaker 3: Fair.
- 51:47Speaker 2: Jason Goff. Check him out at The Athletic. My brother,
- 51:50Speaker 2: I appreciate you.
