- 1:43Speaker 2: How you guys doing today, I'm doing great?
- 1:45Speaker 4: Yeah, that's good man.
- 1:46Speaker 2: I wasn't joking around.
- 1:47Speaker 4: This is big news today about the CDC recommending delaying
- 1:51Speaker 4: birth dose of hep B vaccines.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Yeah, sure enough.
- 1:54Speaker 4: And that was one of the things that my wife
- 1:56Speaker 4: was like, Eh, I don't have it, so why are
- 1:59Speaker 4: we doing it? Yeah, on one of those things, And yeah,
- 2:02Speaker 4: completely she was right in the sense of she did
- 2:07Speaker 4: what the CDC is now recommending today a year months ago.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Yeah, man, that that decision made about the about the
- 2:16Speaker 2: teeth re cell what was it? What's the thing got of?
- 2:19Speaker 5: Id?
- 2:19Speaker 2: I just drok, I drew complete blank. They took the
- 2:23Speaker 2: black box warning off of the hormone replacement therapy labels
- 2:27Speaker 2: and that was a big thing because a lot of
- 2:28Speaker 2: people did not use that because of that, and those
- 2:31Speaker 2: therapies have offered a lot of relief for women who
- 2:33Speaker 2: are grown through some hormonal changes in their lives, my
- 2:35Speaker 2: wife being one of those. So I got to watch
- 2:36Speaker 2: it firsthand, and I know the miraculous change that can
- 2:40Speaker 2: happen when you get that balanced out. So yeah, cool stuff.
- 2:43Speaker 4: It's now being left to the individual decision. Babies with
- 2:47Speaker 4: be negative mothers. Yeah, been having a good day today? Yes,
- 2:51Speaker 4: very good?
- 2:52Speaker 2: Yes, yes, busy, deb I know, did you get lunched
- 2:55Speaker 2: to him?
- 2:55Speaker 4: No, oh baby, We're gonna get you some lunch.
- 2:58Speaker 6: That's all right.
- 2:58Speaker 2: I had some potato chips. Yeah, gotta get your something
- 3:00Speaker 2: to eat that we had some stuff to do today
- 3:02Speaker 2: before the show, so Deb didn't get to eat lunch,
- 3:04Speaker 2: and Ross ate his in front of hers. Well, he
- 3:07Speaker 2: did not know, which was awesome.
- 3:08Speaker 6: He did not know.
- 3:09Speaker 2: I got it. Ross, Oh my god, guys, I gotta
- 3:14Speaker 2: tell you man. Yeah, working with you two YouTube being
- 3:19Speaker 2: Deb and Jack completely normal, your normal, normal human beings.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Even more to that, actually even more normal me is
- 3:28Speaker 4: that what you're saying.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Normal human beings? Ross? Ross comes in today. He rushed
- 3:33Speaker 2: by the way. It cannot be more thankful he's here today,
- 3:37Speaker 2: way before his way before his wake up time. Uh,
- 3:39Speaker 2: and asked him if he was going to be with
- 3:41Speaker 2: us today. And he walks in today because during my
- 3:43Speaker 2: birthday he did not bring my gift in, you know,
- 3:46Speaker 2: he left it at home or whatever. And we heard
- 3:48Speaker 2: about a part of it. We didn't hear about the
- 3:49Speaker 2: other part. Ross rushes into the studio while I'm sitting
- 3:52Speaker 2: here and accost me what what looks to be a
- 3:56Speaker 2: drug handoff? He me, and he pushes it to me
- 3:59Speaker 2: and then runs out of the room. And I'm not kidding.
- 4:02Speaker 2: I opened up my hands and in one hand I
- 4:05Speaker 2: have weed coffee, and then the other hand.
- 4:07Speaker 4: I have a sausage, sausage.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Sausage. Yeah, man, nice, this dried sausage. Not it's from
- 4:14Speaker 2: Heakley's fancy meats. Our friends out there, so we know
- 4:17Speaker 2: for a fact this is some good stuff, and I
- 4:18Speaker 2: appreciate it greatly.
- 4:19Speaker 6: It's gonna be good with crackers and cheese.
- 4:21Speaker 2: I just found that to be an odd handoff. Yeah, yeah,
- 4:24Speaker 2: and also simultaneously, right.
- 4:26Speaker 5: And you're lucky. There was no subbursive message in that, sure.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Right, So and if you were listening to the show yesterday,
- 4:31Speaker 2: Ross also said he had something else he wanted to
- 4:33Speaker 2: offer me. Many people took a shot at it on
- 4:36Speaker 2: the texting service. Most people concluded they thought it was
- 4:38Speaker 2: some type of mushroom tea of some sort, or because
- 4:42Speaker 2: he was hyping up the effects of said said coffee. Alick, sir,
- 4:46Speaker 2: it's just a coffee, it is.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Yeah, it's just a coffee, but with like a hundred
- 4:51Speaker 4: plus milligrams of some other stuff.
- 4:55Speaker 7: So Jack, this is I don't think they anything's plausible
- 5:00Speaker 7: about that deniability anymore.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Oh yeah, there's no This will go straight down the
- 5:03Speaker 2: drain if somebody walks in right now, just give you
- 5:05Speaker 2: add that. But but listen, here's the best part of
- 5:08Speaker 2: the entire story. Right. So Ross comes in and sits down,
- 5:11Speaker 2: shuffles me the drug deal of sausage and weed coffee,
- 5:14Speaker 2: sits back down, and.
- 5:15Speaker 4: I look at him and he goes and I said, so,
- 5:17Speaker 4: is this the stuff? And he goes, yeah, that's the stuff.
- 5:19Speaker 2: And I'm like, you know, and I start guessing what's
- 5:21Speaker 2: in it because he never told me to begin with.
- 5:22Speaker 2: And I and I, you know, I did the whole
- 5:24Speaker 2: mushroom and he goes, now, it's not mushrooms. It's just
- 5:26Speaker 2: you know, it's other it's other stuff. And I go oh.
- 5:28Speaker 2: And I look at it and I go oh, okay.
- 5:30Speaker 2: So it's just like one of the breezes, but except
- 5:34Speaker 2: being in like a red bull form. It's in this
- 5:36Speaker 2: espresso form. Then I asked the magic question. I says that,
- 5:39Speaker 2: I said, what kind of job is this too? He goes,
- 5:41Speaker 2: I don't know. He's never had it.
- 5:45Speaker 4: He brought he brought me something that is packaged up
- 5:48Speaker 4: known to be ilicit, hands.
- 5:50Speaker 2: It to me and then I'm like, well, what's it
- 5:51Speaker 2: do to you? He goes, I don't know. Waiting for
- 5:54Speaker 2: you to do it first, I've never done it. Well
- 5:57Speaker 2: is that Let me be a gentleman.
- 5:58Speaker 4: You want to go tuessies. Oh, I'm not on the
- 6:01Speaker 4: air crazy. No, no, not today, not right now. But
- 6:03Speaker 4: just like I don't know, random night, Yeah, random Night's fine,
- 6:06Speaker 4: I guess go watch the moon go from full to crescent.
- 6:12Speaker 4: That's just my cornea peeling back in my head for
- 6:16Speaker 4: some odd reason. I don't know if I'm taking a
- 6:18Speaker 4: nap or something's wrong with this moon, but I think
- 6:21Speaker 4: i'd be birthday.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Thank you for the gift.
- 6:23Speaker 4: Sweet I got something to spike your blood pressure and
- 6:27Speaker 4: to drop it.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Yeah, very nice. All right, we'll go through that for sure.
- 6:31Speaker 2: One of the other things I had to talk about
- 6:32Speaker 2: today I found kind of interesting and and you so
- 6:35Speaker 2: birthday party last night, had the whole crew over. We
- 6:38Speaker 2: went out to eat, did the whole nine yards right,
- 6:41Speaker 2: and I'm talking to my daughter. You know, my daughter's pregnant.
- 6:44Speaker 2: She's due in early March. So she's really showing rank
- 6:47Speaker 2: at that basketball kind of belly going. And my girl
- 6:50Speaker 2: showcases it. She don't give a damn. She wears the
- 6:52Speaker 2: low pants in the high tops, just lets that shine
- 6:55Speaker 2: like she's on the beach, which I love.
- 6:57Speaker 4: By the way, so doing the mat that's what you're
- 6:59Speaker 4: at the end of the second trimester.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Something like that. Yeah, yeah, I started the third for sure.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Yeah yeah. So and she, you know, she we're we're
- 7:07Speaker 2: sending here talking. I hear her talking to my wife
- 7:09Speaker 2: and her mom, and she's talking and they went she
- 7:12Speaker 2: and her uh daddy, baby daddy, Mama, baby mama, baby daddy.
- 7:16Speaker 2: I'm gonna right, yeah exactly.
- 7:18Speaker 6: Wow for a second, sounds like Anna Keepner's family.
- 7:21Speaker 4: Yeah, her boyfriend go back to really leaning into the
- 7:24Speaker 4: word really when it comes to showing, because that was
- 7:27Speaker 4: also fun for me.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Dev just Dev just told the if you're reading the
- 7:31Speaker 2: local news, the best joke out there today for a
- 7:34Speaker 2: billion years, and we're gonna talk about the little later.
- 7:37Speaker 2: It's it's so crazy.
- 7:39Speaker 6: It's like I want to hear banjo music in the background.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Honestly. It's like one of those logic like if Teresa's
- 7:45Speaker 2: daughter is your niece, what are you too? Anyway? Uh
- 7:51Speaker 2: So she tells me that, you know, she and her
- 7:53Speaker 2: boyfriend go to a Jags game. He's a giant Jags fan.
- 7:56Speaker 2: He's from Jacksonville. I have that area though, So they drive,
- 7:59Speaker 2: Oh yeah, they drive to go to the game. A
- 8:00Speaker 2: couple weeks ago when they were in town and she
- 8:02Speaker 2: told me something crazy. She said, you know, you wouldn't
- 8:05Speaker 2: believe how many people want to touch my belly, like
- 8:10Speaker 2: just Rando's. Right. Then she starts telling this story about
- 8:13Speaker 2: she went into the bathroom, the girl's bathroom, and had
- 8:17Speaker 2: to physically leave the bathroom because drunk girls would not
- 8:22Speaker 2: leave her alone. Like apparently drunk girls are attracted to
- 8:27Speaker 2: pregnant bellies like moths to light. She literally had to
- 8:32Speaker 2: like run for them like they were touching zombies. Oh wow,
- 8:35Speaker 2: isn't that's the weirdest thing. That's the funny thing is
- 8:37Speaker 2: is like, I wouldn't think that anybody would try to
- 8:39Speaker 2: touch you if you didn't invite that. But man, when
- 8:41Speaker 2: you're pregnant.
- 8:42Speaker 6: Oh, this happens a lot.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Did that happen to Olivia? Did? Because I wouldn't think
- 8:46Speaker 2: that she would like be real open to any of
- 8:48Speaker 2: that at all.
- 8:49Speaker 4: No, I don't remember too much belly touching. But people,
- 8:53Speaker 4: just especially parents. Anytime someone is like, oh my god,
- 8:58Speaker 4: a baby that's us doesn't come from a twenty year
- 9:01Speaker 4: old stoner, you know, that usually comes from other parents,
- 9:06Speaker 4: And then they feel like all right, well I've accomplished this.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Even though the person doesn't know this, they feel a
- 9:12Speaker 4: lot more confident. So yeah, I would that's definitely part
- 9:16Speaker 4: of it.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Yeah, man, for some reason, she said, I don't know
- 9:18Speaker 2: what it was. Dude, every drunk girl at the Jags
- 9:21Speaker 2: game wanted to put their hands on my belly, as
- 9:24Speaker 2: if it was going to give them some magical power
- 9:26Speaker 2: or make them pregnant by osmosis. Some that's like, that's
- 9:31Speaker 2: terribly rude behavior, right.
- 9:32Speaker 5: Oh yeah, yeah, well it's something I used to do
- 9:35Speaker 5: when I was younger, but then as you get older
- 9:36Speaker 5: and you realize that that.
- 9:38Speaker 6: May not be welcome.
- 9:39Speaker 5: Oh no, no, no, no, it's just like, you know, you
- 9:42Speaker 5: can say hi to the baby, but don't.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Touch the baby.
- 9:44Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, you know, And how do you keep your distance.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Here's what I don't understand.
- 9:48Speaker 4: You're not touching the baby like you're petting a person's belly.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Like you're saying you're not touching the baby.
- 9:54Speaker 5: I'm just saying, this is just the start of it
- 9:56Speaker 5: for her. It's going to start with the belly and
- 9:57Speaker 5: then when she has the baby.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Oh, b.
- 10:02Speaker 6: Yeah, that's that.
- 10:03Speaker 2: You can't do that. You're not spitting your COVID. I'm
- 10:05Speaker 2: a kid that didn't habit.
- 10:07Speaker 4: I almost remember, I almost thought a PTSD exactly because
- 10:11Speaker 4: this guy was trying to go after my feet, my
- 10:13Speaker 4: baby's dogs.
- 10:15Speaker 2: She's trying to tickle these guys.
- 10:17Speaker 4: This guy's little winkly bankley Yeah, little tozy rosies.
- 10:21Speaker 2: I was like, oh yo, his little piggies. Piggies.
- 10:24Speaker 5: Somebody just texted us at seven seven zero three. One
- 10:27Speaker 5: happened to me a lot when I was pregnant.
- 10:29Speaker 4: Oh really, yeah, wow, didn't nail me have to deal
- 10:32Speaker 4: with that?
- 10:32Speaker 2: Yeah? Well, yeah, I guess you know, when you it depends.
- 10:36Speaker 2: She be an entertainer, so she still worked when she
- 10:39Speaker 2: was pregnant, right.
- 10:40Speaker 4: She did.
- 10:41Speaker 7: And so when you are in a situation where people
- 10:43Speaker 7: are rigging, whether it's an NFL game or you know,
- 10:47Speaker 7: a club where you're singing that I think.
- 10:50Speaker 2: You know, women get a little loose and they're they
- 10:52Speaker 2: feel but there's an entitlement that they feel like there's
- 10:54Speaker 2: an entitlement because.
- 10:56Speaker 7: Women, because they're women, they feel they're not threatening to
- 10:59Speaker 7: each other. They're part of the same team. Yeah, they're
- 11:01Speaker 7: in the same club. They should not feel that way.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Is not no, it's not not a cool way to
- 11:07Speaker 2: roll my question.
- 11:08Speaker 4: And I'll double down on my stance on this is
- 11:11Speaker 4: that is it women or what's more likely moms are women?
- 11:15Speaker 2: I understand that all moments what but.
- 11:18Speaker 4: Like I just every person that I like, Deb, I
- 11:22Speaker 4: wouldn't see you ever doing.
- 11:23Speaker 5: This because, like I said, I used to when I
- 11:25Speaker 5: was younger, until I realized that that is unwelcome touch. Right,
- 11:29Speaker 5: But you're like, oh my goodness, the baby right right?
- 11:32Speaker 5: You know, You're like, yeah, I see you over there,
- 11:34Speaker 5: I'm going for the baby.
- 11:35Speaker 2: I would think it would be more women who are
- 11:37Speaker 2: in the belly and that twenty seven, twenty eight, twenty
- 11:39Speaker 2: nine thirty range where they were for they're ticking and
- 11:42Speaker 2: they're dying to get pregnant. You know, they wouldn't just
- 11:44Speaker 2: get wouldn't go that far. You're in North Florida, I
- 11:50Speaker 2: mean twenty eight late. I'm gone with you, Jim.
- 11:53Speaker 4: At first, I years ago, before becoming a dad, I
- 11:56Speaker 4: would not have probably agreed with that assessment. You'd be like, yeah,
- 12:00Speaker 4: but post dad, people, especially my generation millennials and these
- 12:05Speaker 4: younger people whoever's below mine, Like, here's a question that
- 12:09Speaker 4: people be dancing around. It's not forever you have a window.
- 12:13Speaker 4: And that's blunt and crass. But like after thirty five
- 12:18Speaker 4: it's considered a geriatric pregnancy.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Yeah, that amazing.
- 12:21Speaker 4: Yeah, it's also something that no one people in society
- 12:25Speaker 4: kind of.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Like, uh, maybe i'll have a kid, Maybe I won't.
- 12:28Speaker 4: What Sometimes that's out of your say, yeah that you
- 12:33Speaker 4: a lot of people. If you want to have a kid,
- 12:35Speaker 4: you can't really do it in your fifties and sixties.
- 12:38Speaker 2: No, no, no, you can't mean even in your mid thirties
- 12:40Speaker 2: or late late thirties. It's safe for now. But man,
- 12:42Speaker 2: back in the day, that was like a death sentence.
- 12:44Speaker 2: I remember people talking about being pregnant at forty as
- 12:47Speaker 2: if you just had the gun to your head.
- 12:48Speaker 4: And the flip side of like, sure, older people are
- 12:51Speaker 4: having kids, but that also means younger people aren't having
- 12:54Speaker 4: as much as they're not, and that also means you
- 12:57Speaker 4: have a smaller amount of life.
- 12:59Speaker 2: To have kids. It's one hundred percent. And that's actually
- 13:02Speaker 2: a birthrate thing. Is is global. It's not just here
- 13:04Speaker 2: in the US, it's everywhere. Birth rates are down. I
- 13:07Speaker 2: think Elon Musk just put a post up about it,
- 13:09Speaker 2: like yesterday or this morning.
- 13:10Speaker 4: Like I know a lot of relationships are like, that's
- 13:13Speaker 4: such a serious conversation. We have never had it, And
- 13:16Speaker 4: you're right, it is a serious one and it can
- 13:18Speaker 4: be uncomfortable, but it is one that is up against
- 13:21Speaker 4: the clock.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Its a it has a an exploration date. Yeah, yeah,
- 13:26Speaker 2: all right, four seven nine one. You can always text
- 13:29Speaker 2: us at seven seven zero three one. Got a bunch
- 13:31Speaker 2: of fun stuff to talk about today. What's the biggest
- 13:34Speaker 2: bullet you've ever dodged in your life? Like within reason? Also,
- 13:38Speaker 2: I've got to notice about you know, I'm starting going
- 13:40Speaker 2: to kind of pick up on things that change in
- 13:42Speaker 2: the world of technology. I found one today. It's kind
- 13:44Speaker 2: of interesting.
- 13:45Speaker 4: A bunch of other stuff to talk about as well.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Deb What do you got for news?
- 13:47Speaker 5: Well, unfortunately, at least seven deaths are linked to faulty
- 13:51Speaker 5: glucose monitors, and there's some of the most popular ones
- 13:53Speaker 5: on the market.
- 13:54Speaker 2: I saw that story today.
- 13:55Speaker 5: Closer to Home, Florida's first black bear hunt in a
- 13:57Speaker 5: decade begins Saturday, and a theory about what possibly caused
- 14:02Speaker 5: a flight to suddenly drop over Florida and it's terrifying.
- 14:06Speaker 5: We'll talk about that and more coming up next During
- 14:08Speaker 5: JCS News A right.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Single break, We'll come back and get Deb's news and
- 14:11Speaker 2: do more of the Jim Golberg Show.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Today is mo better Way.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Ross Paget sponsored by jos Como Orlando's injury attorneys.
- 14:21Speaker 8: S.
- 14:24Speaker 9: Oh, don't be like that, Jimmy, don't look at gift
- 14:26Speaker 9: horse in the mouth. Just take the drugs on air.
- 14:28Speaker 9: Come on, we all know you want to. One of
- 14:30Speaker 9: my most hilarious and memorable moments have come from a
- 14:32Speaker 9: friend randomly handing me something in a shady manner and saying,
- 14:35Speaker 9: I have no idea.
- 14:36Speaker 2: What this does, but it's probably a good time. Yeah,

- 15:08Speaker 3: Wow, this guy got to put his name on everything.
- 15:10Speaker 2: It's in my contract ed.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Here's the news on the Jim Colberg Show.
- 15:14Speaker 5: And JCS news is brought to you by that mortgage guy.
- 15:17Speaker 5: Don give him a listen tomorrow morning when he's host
- 15:20Speaker 5: of the Home Loans radio show. Unfortunately, at least seven
- 15:23Speaker 5: deaths may be linked to malfunctioning glucose monitors. The Food
- 15:27Speaker 5: and Drug Administration announced this week that the monitors manufactured
- 15:30Speaker 5: by Abbott Diabetes Care could be giving inaccurate low glucose readings,
- 15:36Speaker 5: resulting in dangerous treatment decisions. And like I said, these
- 15:39Speaker 5: are some of the more popular ones on the market.
- 15:41Speaker 5: The monitors include some Freestyle Libre three and Freestyle Libre
- 15:45Speaker 5: three plus models, and the problem could affect some three
- 15:49Speaker 5: million devices.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Good lord.
- 15:51Speaker 6: The company also.
- 15:52Speaker 5: Said it has gotten reports of more than seven hundred
- 15:56Speaker 5: severe injuries and will replace.
- 15:58Speaker 6: The faulty monitors.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 16:00Speaker 6: I think just kind of like be preemptive and check this.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Right, right right?
- 16:04Speaker 4: You know that would make you because you can go
- 16:05Speaker 4: into insulin shock, is that what that is?
- 16:07Speaker 2: Or like have a stroke from that?
- 16:08Speaker 5: Even what happens even th coma yeah right. Tourists continue
- 16:14Speaker 5: to fuel Orange County's Economy Comptroller Phil Diamond released the
- 16:17Speaker 5: October twenty, twenty twenty five Tourist Development Tax Revenue report yesterday.
- 16:22Speaker 5: It shows the county brought in how much money this
- 16:26Speaker 5: is October, just for October.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Yeah, the for Orange County.
- 16:30Speaker 6: For Orange County, Wow, too crazy.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Thirty eight million twelve.
- 16:40Speaker 5: Twenty thirty four million. Nice, good job, stab in the dark.
- 16:46Speaker 5: And that's up over fifteen percent from.
- 16:49Speaker 2: The year before.
- 16:50Speaker 4: Yeah, thanks epic Yeah.
- 16:51Speaker 5: Diamond says it's also a new record for October.
- 16:55Speaker 3: All right.
- 16:55Speaker 5: Florida's first black bear hunt and a decade begins tomorrow.
- 16:58Speaker 5: The Florida Fish and Wildlife Contsvation Commission issued one hundred
- 17:01Speaker 5: and seventy two permits for the twenty three day hunt.
- 17:05Speaker 5: Each permit is good for one bear.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Now.
- 17:08Speaker 5: There are bear hunting zones set up in Southwest, Central,
- 17:11Speaker 5: and North Florida, plus the East Panhandle. Those are the
- 17:14Speaker 5: only places that you'll be able to do the hunt.
- 17:17Speaker 5: The FWC argues that with more than four thousand bears
- 17:20Speaker 5: in the state, a well regulated hunt will help prevent overpopulation,
- 17:24Speaker 5: which could risk overall survival in the long term. After
- 17:27Speaker 5: a filled lawsuit to stop the hunt, bear warriors United
- 17:31Speaker 5: is now offering permit holders two thousand dollars each if
- 17:35Speaker 5: they don't use them.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Wow.
- 17:36Speaker 7: Really yeah, because they only put out a limited amount.
- 17:39Speaker 7: I believe they had about twenty four how many forty four?
- 17:43Speaker 2: Forty four people have taken advantage of it?
- 17:45Speaker 5: No, forty four who are non hunters. Okay, out of
- 17:48Speaker 5: one hundred and seventy two permits. But for the remaining permits,
- 17:51Speaker 5: they're like, hey, we'll slip you a cool two grand.
- 17:53Speaker 2: I believe twenty people have taken advantage.
- 17:56Speaker 5: Really, Oh, that's two thousand, I mean two thousand dollars.
- 18:00Speaker 2: I'll get the permit just for that. I'll flip them. Yeah.
- 18:02Speaker 4: It's a lot of nuggets, man, that's a lot of
- 18:04Speaker 4: damn nuggets.
- 18:06Speaker 2: All right.
- 18:07Speaker 5: Authorities believe a gas leak is what caused an explosion
- 18:09Speaker 5: and fire at a jewelry store yesterday morning. It's where
- 18:12Speaker 5: the gas leak came from, that is the question. The
- 18:14Speaker 5: explosion at Gemstone's Jewelry Rocks around eleven o'clock yesterday morning
- 18:18Speaker 5: caused a fire and sent one person, the business owner,
- 18:21Speaker 5: who also happened to live in her business, to the hospital.
- 18:25Speaker 2: I saw the explosion today. It's crazy because they played deo.
- 18:27Speaker 2: They play it in slow motion and you see the
- 18:29Speaker 2: front window bulge, yes, before it actually blows out. It's crazy.
- 18:34Speaker 2: It's a jewelry store. It is a jewelry store.
- 18:36Speaker 4: So but I know that they use they have to
- 18:38Speaker 4: use some kind of gas because when they have to.
- 18:41Speaker 2: I know it's not wired for gas. I saw that,
- 18:43Speaker 2: but they have to. They have to be able to
- 18:44Speaker 2: create heat because that's how they make the jewelry.
- 18:46Speaker 5: Ye, but she doesn't. She doesn't use gas for that.
- 18:49Speaker 5: I don't know what kind of jewelry she made. But
- 18:50Speaker 5: the business is deemed a total loss. City cruise. This
- 18:53Speaker 5: is important. City crews were monitoring repairs for a different
- 18:58Speaker 5: gas leak nearby when the explosion happened. Yeah, and you
- 19:02Speaker 5: know gas will travel, it can go through other utility lines.
- 19:06Speaker 5: Because the local news has made it very you know,
- 19:09Speaker 5: this business did not use gas, so there were no
- 19:12Speaker 5: gas lines. Everything was exactly City crews, I believe were
- 19:16Speaker 5: crimping another gas leak and that's when the explosion occurred.
- 19:20Speaker 5: The business owner working in the building was airlifted to
- 19:23Speaker 5: a nearby hospital, and her friends had basically been posting
- 19:25Speaker 5: on Facebook to just pray for her.
- 19:28Speaker 6: Because of course with those kinds of burns.
- 19:30Speaker 5: All right, It's been a bad week on the Florida
- 19:32Speaker 5: Turnpike and today was no exception. A chain reaction crash
- 19:36Speaker 5: involving five vehicles shut down the southbound lanes of Florida's
- 19:40Speaker 5: Turnpike early this morning near mile marker two fifty seven.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Tripper see it out.
- 19:44Speaker 5: All began when a BMW and a semi truck collided,
- 19:47Speaker 5: leaving the BMW disabled and then triggering additional impacts with
- 19:52Speaker 5: two more semis and an SUV. A fifty one year
- 19:56Speaker 5: old man driving one of the semi trucks was taken
- 19:58Speaker 5: to Doctor Phillip's Hospital with minor injuries. That's the best news.
- 20:02Speaker 5: Five vehicle crash and only minor injuries. Lane's reopened around
- 20:06Speaker 5: six fifteen this morning, and the Florida Hyway Patrol is
- 20:09Speaker 5: still investigating the cause. But again, the second huge accident
- 20:12Speaker 5: just this week that has shut down lanes of the turnpipe.
- 20:16Speaker 5: Some new information maybe you were like myself, I don't
- 20:18Speaker 5: know if you saw this you guys on Instagram yesterday,
- 20:20Speaker 5: but some new information is out about an immigration incident
- 20:23Speaker 5: in the Keys that went viral. The video taken Wednesday
- 20:27Speaker 5: Morning shows federal agents pulling a woman in scrubs from
- 20:29Speaker 5: a car she was driving in Key Largo on US One.
- 20:33Speaker 5: As the woman is being handcuffed, she can be heard
- 20:35Speaker 5: screaming that she's a US citizen now. According to details
- 20:39Speaker 5: released yesterday by Customs and Border Protection, the car she
- 20:41Speaker 5: was driving belonged to her illegal immigrant boyfriend. A CPB
- 20:46Speaker 5: spokesman says the woman also refused to roll down her
- 20:48Speaker 5: window after she was stopped, and refused to show her
- 20:51Speaker 5: driver's license. The spokesman says she was detained for about
- 20:54Speaker 5: ten minutes, and once agents confirmed she was a US citizen,
- 20:58Speaker 5: she was let go. Florida's Chief Financial Officer, Blazing Golia,
- 21:02Speaker 5: has a list of things he wants lawmakers to do
- 21:05Speaker 5: to that de incentivize illegal immigrants from coming here, and
- 21:09Speaker 5: his list of legislative priorities. This week, the CFO says
- 21:13Speaker 5: there are too many illegal aliens driving among.
- 21:16Speaker 10: Us, and if you get into an accident with an
- 21:18Speaker 10: illegal immigrant, I think that the illegal immigrant should be
- 21:21Speaker 10: automatically at fault and near insurance companies should pay because
- 21:25Speaker 10: they shouldn't be on the road in the first place.
- 21:27Speaker 5: That's why he wants to make any accident, again automatically
- 21:30Speaker 5: at fault. He says the immigrants insurance policy should cover
- 21:34Speaker 5: your repairs because again, they shouldn't have been here to
- 21:37Speaker 5: begin with, and Golia hopes Florida's legislators will take up
- 21:40Speaker 5: his priorities during the regular session that begins in January.
- 21:45Speaker 6: So insurance is still kind of high, guys, and some
- 21:49Speaker 6: of the things you could do.
- 21:50Speaker 2: There's so much.
- 21:51Speaker 7: Yeah, there's interesting. And then they won't get insured. Then
- 21:54Speaker 7: they'll drive without insurance, and then what do you get
- 21:57Speaker 7: exactly all that from a dude named Blaze? You tearing
- 22:01Speaker 7: it down?
- 22:01Speaker 8: All right?
- 22:02Speaker 6: This next story, Oh, this next one is Kip.
- 22:05Speaker 2: It's like a hip hop album a company.
- 22:07Speaker 5: Or Diddy's new documentary or rather Puffy fifty fifty cent.
- 22:12Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, man, I couldnt.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Know that it's been that day. Yeah, you need some chips,
- 22:16Speaker 2: I know, all right.
- 22:17Speaker 5: The lawyer of an officer who was fired says a
- 22:19Speaker 5: memo released by the State Attorney's office proves someone was
- 22:23Speaker 5: out to get his client. The memo alleges that former
- 22:27Speaker 5: Code Enforcement Director Keith O'Connor cashed in a lottery ticket
- 22:31Speaker 5: for an acquaintance to help that other man avoid paying
- 22:34Speaker 5: child support the ticket.
- 22:40Speaker 4: That's funny.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Oh wait, it gets better.
- 22:42Speaker 4: That is funny.
- 22:43Speaker 2: The ticket was gifted.
- 22:45Speaker 5: It was gifted to O'Connor from Aubrey Pearce, who owes
- 22:48Speaker 5: how much money in child support payments.
- 22:51Speaker 2: It's a whole I've been. It's a ten yrand.
- 22:57Speaker 5: Seventy thousand dollars in child support payments. But he's such
- 23:00Speaker 5: a good guy he decided to give a winning lottery
- 23:02Speaker 5: ticket to his friend.
- 23:03Speaker 6: Oh you take the money, I don't need it.
- 23:08Speaker 5: D O'Connor's attorney, Ralph Fernandez, says the memo was written
- 23:12Speaker 5: as an excuse to fire him. It outlines why charges
- 23:16Speaker 5: were not pressed against O'Connor.
- 23:18Speaker 2: You know, no reason at all.
- 23:20Speaker 4: Just feel like it's a good time to tell everybody
- 23:22Speaker 4: that I love my wife.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Yea, and I have a valid driver's license.
- 23:29Speaker 5: Three men could be looking at life in prison for
- 23:32Speaker 5: stealing thousands of dollars worth of sneakers over a two
- 23:34Speaker 5: month period. Florida Attorney General James Uthmaier says the suspects
- 23:38Speaker 5: operated their pricey sneaker heist in Georgia and Jensen and
- 23:42Speaker 5: Daytona Beach malls.
- 23:44Speaker 11: These individuals are going to be trading in there. They're
- 23:47Speaker 11: nice air Jordan's for these kicks from our jail house,
- 23:52Speaker 11: and they're going to be doing a significant amount of
- 23:54Speaker 11: time in our jail in prison for the crimes that
- 23:56Speaker 11: they've committed.
- 23:57Speaker 5: Herbert Davis the Third, Michael McCrae, and Tyrone Howard were
- 24:00Speaker 5: arrested on first and second degree felony burglary charges in
- 24:04Speaker 5: connection to the thefts.
- 24:05Speaker 4: Where were they stealing shoes from.
- 24:07Speaker 6: Georgia and the Jensen and Daytona Beach malls.
- 24:10Speaker 2: You said they're up for life imprisonment.
- 24:13Speaker 4: Yeah, No, one got arrested for two thousand and eight people.
- 24:17Speaker 4: People can murder people and get you.
- 24:21Speaker 6: Know, less time than that, a lot less time.
- 24:24Speaker 2: They're not going to Joe for life, dude, They're not
- 24:26Speaker 2: going to go to Joe for life for stealing shoes.
- 24:27Speaker 2: It just seems a lot had a whack. Yeah, they
- 24:30Speaker 2: may may have a bunch of priors.
- 24:32Speaker 5: This next story is for true crime fans. This next story,
- 24:37Speaker 5: a Ruskin man is behind bars and facing extradition to
- 24:41Speaker 5: New York for two murders in nineteen ninety seven. Andrew
- 24:44Speaker 5: Dikes was arrested Wednesday, and authorities belief he's responsible for
- 24:47Speaker 5: the deaths of a mother and her then two year
- 24:50Speaker 5: old daughter. DNA testing in April identified the two as
- 24:54Speaker 5: Tanya Jackson and Tatiana Dykes. Now at the time, the
- 24:57Speaker 5: bodies seem to be connected to Gilgo b Each serial
- 25:00Speaker 5: killer rex Hureman. Detectives did not detail what new DNA
- 25:04Speaker 5: evidence was uncovered that led to the arrest. All Right,
- 25:08Speaker 5: the fall is going down as the wettest ever, at
- 25:11Speaker 5: least in part of Brevard County. The National Weather Service
- 25:14Speaker 5: released its fall summary yesterday for Central Florida. Temperature slightly
- 25:18Speaker 5: below normal across the area, while rainfall was slightly above normal. However,
- 25:23Speaker 5: in Brevard County, Titusville recorded its wettest fall ever. How
- 25:27Speaker 5: many inches of rain did Titusville get in.
- 25:29Speaker 4: The You had a small helping hand there, yep.
- 25:33Speaker 2: A few weeks back. Well, I know that we got
- 25:35Speaker 2: like eleven and a half or twelve inches of rain
- 25:37Speaker 2: out there with us, and I heard it was just
- 25:38Speaker 2: as bad over there. So I'll go thirteen inches for
- 25:42Speaker 2: the year this or how many above? Yeah, for the fall,
- 25:47Speaker 2: Just for.
- 25:48Speaker 4: The fall, I'll go seventeen.
- 25:50Speaker 2: I'll go eighteen thirty one inches of rain.
- 25:53Speaker 5: That's due in part to a large rain event in
- 25:55Speaker 5: late October, when the city got over thirteen inches in
- 25:58Speaker 5: one day. Of course Eustace getting sixteen inches. Same with
- 26:02Speaker 5: Mount Door I think, actually it's closer to nineteen. It
- 26:04Speaker 5: was a Loustics over sixteen in Mount Dora. Titusville's previous
- 26:08Speaker 5: rainfall fall rainfall record was set back in nineteen twenty Fourikes.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Yeah, all right.
- 26:16Speaker 5: Only one Florida golf course is on the list of
- 26:18Speaker 5: the best golf courses in the world.
- 26:21Speaker 2: Jimmy, I know what it is. You do?
- 26:23Speaker 4: What is it?
- 26:24Speaker 2: I know, I have a pretty good guess. It always
- 26:26Speaker 2: makes the list. I've never played it. You can't get
- 26:28Speaker 2: near it. I got South Florida. What is it? Castleberry?
- 26:31Speaker 2: It is not Falcons Fire.
- 26:33Speaker 12: It is not I that's such a good golf joke.
- 26:36Speaker 8: Is it?
- 26:36Speaker 2: Seminole Golf Club? There you go? Yeah?
- 26:39Speaker 8: So.
- 26:39Speaker 5: Golf dot Com recently released its list of the top
- 26:42Speaker 5: one hundred courses in the world. There we Go for
- 26:47Speaker 5: twenty twenty five to twenty twenty six. Built in nineteen
- 26:50Speaker 5: twenty nine, Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach is ranked
- 26:54Speaker 5: as the thirty second best course in the world and
- 26:57Speaker 5: is the only golf course in Florida to appear on
- 26:59Speaker 5: the list. The best golf courses were listed as Pine
- 27:02Speaker 5: Valley in New Jersey, Cypress Point in Pebble Beach, and
- 27:07Speaker 5: of course Saint Andrews in Scotland.
- 27:09Speaker 2: Sure August is up there as well, but yeah, Seminole
- 27:13Speaker 2: has been a legendary golf club in the US and
- 27:16Speaker 2: globe actually for many, many years. I think it's a
- 27:18Speaker 2: Donald Ross design.
- 27:20Speaker 4: Is there Whistling Straits on that list? Did you see
- 27:23Speaker 4: Whistling Straits?
- 27:24Speaker 2: I did not.
- 27:24Speaker 6: Yeah, this is just this roundup of what was on
- 27:27Speaker 6: Florida's list.
- 27:28Speaker 4: That's the nicest course I've ever played. And I always
- 27:31Speaker 4: look for opportunities to tell people.
- 27:32Speaker 5: That emergency drills by Tampa Fire Rescue. I've had some
- 27:38Speaker 5: people a little worried about all the black smoke seen
- 27:41Speaker 5: over Tampa International Airport. Kind of a follow up to
- 27:43Speaker 5: the story we started off the week with Airport Division
- 27:46Speaker 5: Chief James Ballott says there's nothing to worry about. He
- 27:49Speaker 5: has unit has been simulating evening aircraft emergencies to provide
- 27:53Speaker 5: firefighters with real world experience in case a plane catches fire.
- 27:58Speaker 5: And that's because he says fuel can reach a temperature
- 28:01Speaker 5: of two thousand degrees and fireballs can shoot up to
- 28:04Speaker 5: forty feet in the air. So the division is using
- 28:07Speaker 5: specialized vehicles that hold thousands of gallons of water and foam.
- 28:12Speaker 5: And speaking of planes, there's a new theory. But what
- 28:17Speaker 5: experts believe may have caused a plane to make a
- 28:19Speaker 5: sudden drop? It was a Jet Blue flight back in October.
- 28:22Speaker 2: Okay, so did this make news? I mean, was it?
- 28:25Speaker 2: It must have been a pretty brutal drop it was.
- 28:27Speaker 2: I believe it injured a bunch of people it injured.
- 28:30Speaker 5: Yeah, it experienced a sudden drop in altitude over the
- 28:33Speaker 5: Sunshine State back in October, and it injured more than
- 28:36Speaker 5: a dozen passengers.
- 28:37Speaker 2: They smash their keetpies against it, exactly.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:40Speaker 2: I think most of the people injured were workers, Were
- 28:43Speaker 2: they not? I know? Some passengers? Yeah? I thought.
- 28:45Speaker 5: Well, initially experts thought, you know what, that might be
- 28:48Speaker 5: solar radiation that did that. But a new theory suggests no,
- 28:53Speaker 5: not cosmic solar radiation.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Well, tell me, this is a pilot air where he
- 28:56Speaker 2: was like doing a crossworder or something. He's ripping a sidoka.
- 29:00Speaker 5: God, No, this is worse actually because this is completely
- 29:03Speaker 5: out of our it is because they're currently out of
- 29:05Speaker 5: our control. A cosmic ray gun may have altered flight data.
- 29:12Speaker 5: Think about it. If the zero's and the ones in
- 29:14Speaker 5: your flight arranged in any anyway, it's going to readjust,
- 29:18Speaker 5: it's going to it's going to reprogram the plane.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Wow.
- 29:21Speaker 5: They believe that may have what caused the plane to
- 29:24Speaker 5: do that sudden doe.
- 29:25Speaker 8: Wow.
- 29:25Speaker 2: How crazy is that. I would have never thought about
- 29:27Speaker 2: that in a million years.
- 29:29Speaker 4: Cosmic ray It's like, you know how they talk about
- 29:32Speaker 4: the sun.
- 29:33Speaker 2: What's it? What's it called? Jack? Like a solar flare? Right, yeah,
- 29:36Speaker 2: kind of like that and the discombobulates uh equipment, And
- 29:40Speaker 2: if it's telling the plane and it's supposed to be
- 29:42Speaker 2: a certain altitude and it's programmed to be at another,
- 29:45Speaker 2: it will readjust and drop the plane like a thermostat.
- 29:47Speaker 2: Kind of They need to get some like double verification
- 29:50Speaker 2: for that software.
- 29:51Speaker 5: Air Bus has already issued a software fixed to address
- 29:54Speaker 5: the issue, and experts have noted that the system functioned
- 30:00Speaker 5: as it should during the incident.
- 30:01Speaker 2: And the fix is just better. Seat belts now come
- 30:04Speaker 2: to shoulder.
- 30:07Speaker 6: And that concludes your JCS news.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Boom boom, boom boom. Too many bumps. I'm sorry, it's
- 30:16Speaker 2: too too many. I could tell all right, We'll come
- 30:19Speaker 2: back into Sinker Sale and Embers only next.
- 30:22Speaker 1: Get ready to text your vote for sinc or Sale.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Coming up next on The Jim Colbert Show.
- 30:44Speaker 2: That's right, guys, for another primetime kitchen here on Real
- 30:47Speaker 2: Radio one oh four point one of The Jim Colbert Show,
- 30:49Speaker 2: featuring our good friend Fayaz Kara from The Orlando Weekly.
- 30:52Speaker 2: He is their restaurant critique. He writes about the food there,
- 30:57Speaker 2: the experience is there all throughout Central Florida, had done
- 31:00Speaker 2: it for years.
- 31:02Speaker 10: Uh.
- 31:03Speaker 2: First things first, though, tools Ace Hardware allows us to
- 31:05Speaker 2: do this segment. We appreciate these guys. If your shopping
- 31:07Speaker 2: for Christmas and you have someone in your family that
- 31:09Speaker 2: wants to really wants to step it up in their
- 31:12Speaker 2: outdoor cooking area. Man, let me tell you that is
- 31:14Speaker 2: a superstore for that experience. Grit, Big Green, Egg, Weber, Napoleon,
- 31:19Speaker 2: some professional grills, Oonie and Gosney, Pizza ovens, a great
- 31:23Speaker 2: selection of smoking woods, pellets, all the stuff you need.
- 31:27Speaker 4: Man.
- 31:27Speaker 2: I'm telling you, these tools stores are set up for
- 31:30Speaker 2: you to really take your backyard and your cooking areas
- 31:33Speaker 2: to that next level time. Today it's tools, Ace Hardware,
- 31:36Speaker 2: Toolsacehardware dot com. You guys give it him a good
- 31:38Speaker 2: loud for mister fayaskaras like blue Jay's defeat, so much
- 31:51Speaker 2: red in the feed today. Look at this. Yeah, Ross
- 31:54Speaker 2: is red, You're red. Jack is red at least partially.
- 31:57Speaker 2: How you doing, buddy, how's your week? It's been good,
- 32:00Speaker 2: It has been good.
- 32:00Speaker 13: I wanted to mention that I went to Osteria Esther
- 32:04Speaker 13: last night, the Jason and Sue Chin's new restaurant. Yeah,
- 32:07Speaker 13: and I ran into Kay Rawlins, who I think is
- 32:10Speaker 13: the who the head of Orlando Pride, Orlando Magic. You know,
- 32:13Speaker 13: she runs the thing right, she owned it. The queen
- 32:15Speaker 13: of Orlando Soccer, the queen of Orlando Soccer. She is
- 32:18Speaker 13: a big fan of the show. She listens to the show.
- 32:20Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, she's great. She actually texted me yesterday yesterday
- 32:23Speaker 2: or my birthday. She's very sweet. We adore Cay. She's great. Wait,
- 32:26Speaker 2: why do you sound some surprised? What do you mean?
- 32:29Speaker 7: No, Faia is like surprised that she's a fan. We
- 32:31Speaker 7: can't have sophisticated you know, listeners to this program.
- 32:36Speaker 13: Yeah, yeah, that's precise.
- 32:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I figured, I figured, all right, if I as
- 32:43Speaker 2: ah like I said, he's a restaurant critic for Orlando
- 32:45Speaker 2: Weekly Orlando Weekly dot Com, you're gonna go and read
- 32:47Speaker 2: as a tip jar column, which is awesome because it
- 32:50Speaker 2: really does kind of wrap up what's happening in the community.
- 32:52Speaker 2: He does give some reviews and do some other does
- 32:54Speaker 2: some other cool stuff for us. Apparently we have some
- 32:56Speaker 2: unfortunate closures coming up as well. But let's get right
- 32:59Speaker 2: to that review. Ohsteria Esther, for one thing, What does
- 33:02Speaker 2: it mean? What kind of food is it? Where is it?
- 33:05Speaker 2: Lots of question marks here?
- 33:07Speaker 13: Okay, so Asteria Esther isn't isn't the review? It just
- 33:10Speaker 13: literally opened. I just wanted to talk about it because
- 33:13Speaker 13: it is. It is so good. It's it's Jason Ensue's
- 33:15Speaker 13: new restaurant, Jason N. Su Chin's new restaurant. It's run
- 33:18Speaker 13: by Michael Cooper. He's the chef that was at the Asprey.
- 33:21Speaker 13: This is going to be his baby now. And it's
- 33:24Speaker 13: Italian American classics. Ohsteria is just an Italian word for
- 33:27Speaker 13: like a casual restaurant, very home style food. And I'm
- 33:31Speaker 13: telling you he they've just nailed it, from the decor
- 33:34Speaker 13: to the food. I asked Jack to maybe pull up
- 33:38Speaker 13: my Instagram account there people want to check it out
- 33:40Speaker 13: at It's fayas Kara. There is a picture there of
- 33:43Speaker 13: a of the veal parmesan. It's like a chop, you know,
- 33:47Speaker 13: encasting cheese over over spaghetti. It was outstanding. It was
- 33:51Speaker 13: I've never had a vel parmesan that looked like this before.
- 33:54Speaker 2: That looks ai dude. That looks like somebody just came
- 33:56Speaker 2: up with something and just kind of typed it as
- 33:58Speaker 2: a prompt and it's spit that out. That's amazing. It
- 34:01Speaker 2: was amazing.
- 34:01Speaker 13: Every like the carpaccio, for example, they use it. They're
- 34:04Speaker 13: using a wag you top store long sirloin and he's
- 34:06Speaker 13: got this crunchy hazel nut ayoli and he's and he's
- 34:10Speaker 13: I don't know what he's done with the capers, but
- 34:12Speaker 13: they're crispy, you know. It's such a great texture there.
- 34:15Speaker 13: The tortaloni, which are like bigger Tortellini's stuff with raised beef.
- 34:20Speaker 13: It's the and the butter scotch burdino. That's that's one
- 34:24Speaker 13: of the desserts. It's like a custody sort of pudding.
- 34:27Speaker 13: That butter Scotch Bodino is unreal. That and the tear
- 34:32Speaker 13: in the zoo, and and Cooper Michael chef Michael Cooper
- 34:34Speaker 13: is doing it all.
- 34:35Speaker 4: It's outstanding.
- 34:36Speaker 2: It was. It was just such a good Yeah, I'm sorry, buddy.
- 34:40Speaker 2: I Jack has some photographs all right now Jim Corra
- 34:42Speaker 2: Live dot com. And it looks amazing. That Carpascio just
- 34:44Speaker 2: came by and it looked great.
- 34:46Speaker 7: By the way, this is all directly from FIA's Instagram,
- 34:49Speaker 7: so it's Fiaz Kara on Instagram and you can see
- 34:52Speaker 7: this for yourself.
- 34:53Speaker 2: I had to.
- 34:54Speaker 13: I just had to post these photos. So if you
- 34:56Speaker 13: guys get a chance, go to Ahsteria Ester. It's right
- 34:59Speaker 13: there in Thornton Park where Hugh and Soco used to be.
- 35:02Speaker 13: It's in that space sou Chin has completely redund to
- 35:05Speaker 13: the core. It's so warm and biting. It's it's they
- 35:09Speaker 13: really nailed it as well.
- 35:10Speaker 2: That looks it looks amazing. Every one of these issues
- 35:12Speaker 2: you've rolled by looks absolutely outstanding. We'll have to try
- 35:16Speaker 2: that for sure. It's called Osteria Esther down in Thornton Park,
- 35:19Speaker 2: So give that a give that a try. Let's do
- 35:21Speaker 2: get to the review though. I'm gonna make sure I
- 35:23Speaker 2: get this right. You guys ready, you're ready with the
- 35:25Speaker 2: buzzer jack?
- 35:26Speaker 4: Oh yeah, is it masala pia?
- 35:30Speaker 2: Oh so close? Is masala pija? You actually pronounced the j?
- 35:35Speaker 13: Yeah, you do pronounce the j because the pija is
- 35:37Speaker 13: sort of like English, like Hindi English for pizza. It's
- 35:42Speaker 13: like how Indian people say pizza. It's very racist. But nevertheless,
- 35:47Speaker 13: Masala masala is sort of like a fusion of two
- 35:50Speaker 13: Hindi words, Masala which means spice, and maza, which means fun.
- 35:54Speaker 13: So this place here, it's on South Obt, it's on
- 35:57Speaker 13: the Luxmi Plus. It's by a gentleman my name of
- 36:00Speaker 13: Sunny Corda And people may know Sunny from Mint in
- 36:03Speaker 13: Hannibal Square Indian Restaurant. If Yeah, he also had Saffron
- 36:08Speaker 13: and Madras Cafe in Doctor Phillips. And he has another
- 36:11Speaker 13: restaurant called Indian Pavilion in Winter Garden. And so he
- 36:14Speaker 13: he sort of like tapped into this this trend of
- 36:18Speaker 13: Indian pizza which is taken off in larger cities across
- 36:20Speaker 13: the continent. And you know, Orndo has a pretty sizeable
- 36:23Speaker 13: South Asian population, so they I think he he said,
- 36:26Speaker 13: let's let's try the Indian pizza thing. So if people
- 36:29Speaker 13: have ever had you know, Indian classics like butter chicken
- 36:33Speaker 13: or kabab, Yeah, exactly, picture that on a pizza.
- 36:38Speaker 2: Okay.
- 36:38Speaker 13: And and I thought that the flavors, I thought they're
- 36:40Speaker 13: very gratifying. I may have had a bit of an
- 36:43Speaker 13: issue with the crust. You know, he's doing like this
- 36:46Speaker 13: all purpose flour corn meal crust, and the texture wasn't
- 36:50Speaker 13: quite what I was expecting, you know, a pizza crust
- 36:53Speaker 13: to be. But you know, it held the toppings that
- 36:56Speaker 13: it was very perfunctory. It was very a serviceable crust,
- 37:00Speaker 13: you know if you will. But then but then you know,
- 37:03Speaker 13: like they also like they also uh serve very fusion.
- 37:06Speaker 13: He takes on sports bar classics like like chicken wings.
- 37:09Speaker 13: For example, they have the Chari chicken wings. If you're
- 37:12Speaker 13: watching on Jim Colbert Live right now, your those are
- 37:14Speaker 13: onion rings, Dosa dosa onion rings. So if everyone's had
- 37:18Speaker 13: a masalid dosa, it's that same sort of batter, but
- 37:21Speaker 13: it's around an onion ring.
- 37:22Speaker 8: Uh.
- 37:22Speaker 13: The chicken wings that I mentioned a Chari chicken wings
- 37:26Speaker 13: are in are flavored with this Indian pickling spice. They
- 37:29Speaker 13: have like Condouri spaghetti stuff like that. So it's it's
- 37:34Speaker 13: it's it's.
- 37:34Speaker 2: A unique take.
- 37:35Speaker 13: It's a unique take on on on Fusion fair. If
- 37:38Speaker 13: people are really into pizza, check it out. But you know,
- 37:40Speaker 13: don't don't go out of your way.
- 37:42Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, very that's not a glowing review.
- 37:44Speaker 2: But that's fine. It's a review either way. Uh, we're
- 37:47Speaker 2: talking to Fiascar for Primetime Kitchen. All right, let's move
- 37:50Speaker 2: on to the terrible news. I know you said we
- 37:52Speaker 2: have some closings. One for sure is making news because
- 37:55Speaker 2: I when Dev read it earlier this week, she actually gasped,
- 37:59Speaker 2: I hope it's on the list. Are which one is
- 38:02Speaker 2: that Little Saigon?
- 38:05Speaker 13: Little Saigon, after I think almost forty years of the owners,
- 38:09Speaker 13: who who win and my whin they're they're hanging up
- 38:13Speaker 13: their aprons.
- 38:14Speaker 2: So I believe the final service is December.
- 38:17Speaker 13: Twenty seventh, So go out if you if you've if
- 38:20Speaker 13: you've gone to Little Saigon over the decades, it's a
- 38:23Speaker 13: it's a legendary space. No word yet on what will
- 38:27Speaker 13: replace Little Saigon. I don't think they've they've decided on
- 38:31Speaker 13: that yet, but it's right on the corner of Colonial
- 38:33Speaker 13: and Mills, next to Mills Market.
- 38:35Speaker 2: It's been there forever.
- 38:36Speaker 13: So, like I said, they closed December twenty seventh, and
- 38:38Speaker 13: that Yeah, that that was a that was a shocker.
- 38:41Speaker 4: I have to ask, is this because that the business
- 38:44Speaker 4: isn't doing well or is it What I would love
- 38:47Speaker 4: to hope for is that they are simply retiring and
- 38:50Speaker 4: they nailed it.
- 38:51Speaker 13: So So the list of these closures I'm about to
- 38:54Speaker 13: go through are are a mix. Some are because of
- 38:56Speaker 13: the economy the financial viability of the restaurants, but in
- 39:00Speaker 13: this case, in Little Sygons Clay case, the owners have
- 39:03Speaker 13: been talking about retiring for a while and so there
- 39:05Speaker 13: this is strict of retirement.
- 39:07Speaker 2: Man.
- 39:08Speaker 4: Then I like, although, yes, it's sad, but I'm not
- 39:11Speaker 4: going to have my sad feelings outweigh the celebratory feelings
- 39:15Speaker 4: that I have for those two business owners.
- 39:18Speaker 6: Then you haven't eaten there?
- 39:19Speaker 4: Oh ye, sorry, you right up.
- 39:23Speaker 5: I'm happy they're retiring, But that was some really, really
- 39:27Speaker 5: really good food.
- 39:27Speaker 4: Humans will outweigh any dish of food any day of
- 39:31Speaker 4: the week.
- 39:31Speaker 2: For me. Yeah, very cool. Yeah, Little Sygons one of
- 39:34Speaker 2: them Who's next.
- 39:35Speaker 13: Little Sygon And the other one was the owners are
- 39:38Speaker 13: retiring Kevin and Lorie Tartar of the Chef's Table at
- 39:41Speaker 13: the Edgewater Hotel in Winter Garden Way. Yes, so they're
- 39:45Speaker 13: they're retiring. The thing is, the good news is that
- 39:47Speaker 13: the restaurant isn't technically closing. The GM and the Sioux
- 39:50Speaker 13: Chef I think are are staying on and the restaurant
- 39:53Speaker 13: will remain open. I think the entire hotel was actually
- 39:56Speaker 13: sold to a new owner and that owner was a
- 39:58Speaker 13: big fan of Chef's. But yeah, so Kevin and Lori
- 40:01Speaker 13: Tarter are are retiring, but the restaurant will remain open.
- 40:05Speaker 2: Yeah. It's a big, big favorite there on Planet Street
- 40:07Speaker 2: for sure.
- 40:08Speaker 13: A big one. And the other big one was Shave Vincent.
- 40:10Speaker 13: They were in Hannibal Square. We just talked about Mint.
- 40:12Speaker 13: Shave Vincent is closing after gosh, I don't know how
- 40:15Speaker 13: when they opened. I think nineteen ninety seven I can.
- 40:18Speaker 2: Say, but it's got to be in that thirty to
- 40:20Speaker 2: forty range because I remember when they opened, Shae Vincent
- 40:22Speaker 2: was one of the places that, again, if you were
- 40:24Speaker 2: going out, fancy eaton in winter Park. You went to
- 40:26Speaker 2: Shavee Vincent. It was one of the premier French restaurants
- 40:29Speaker 2: in the city.
- 40:30Speaker 13: So here's a very interesting thing. So the owners, Vincent
- 40:33Speaker 13: and Terry Gagliano, they said they sold the space to
- 40:37Speaker 13: a I think what was the word they used, a
- 40:39Speaker 13: well respected chef and restaurant tour and a couple of
- 40:43Speaker 13: weeks ago, I ran into Brandon mcglamory park Lights Hospitality,
- 40:47Speaker 13: you know of Luma and Prato Lukes, and we were
- 40:50Speaker 13: talking and he told me that he's no longer with
- 40:52Speaker 13: park Lights Hospitality, hasn't been since the summer, and that
- 40:55Speaker 13: he's working on a on a new venture and you know,
- 40:58Speaker 13: the news will come out soon enough. And I and
- 41:00Speaker 13: I happened to mention, well are you going to be
- 41:03Speaker 13: possibly moving into that Shave Vincent space?
- 41:06Speaker 2: And he was very coy, very coy.
- 41:07Speaker 13: He said, you know, all release the news when I'm
- 41:10Speaker 13: ready to release the news. But if I'm a betting man,
- 41:12Speaker 13: I'm going to say that Brandon mcglamory is going to
- 41:14Speaker 13: open up a new concept in the Shave Vincent space
- 41:16Speaker 13: you started here.
- 41:17Speaker 2: First, I have to tell you that would be exciting news,
- 41:20Speaker 2: you know, for people who are like the culinarians of Orlando,
- 41:22Speaker 2: who you know, remember the people who brought us these
- 41:25Speaker 2: first steps, the Petracuses, you know, Brandon and those guys
- 41:28Speaker 2: who really stepped it up for Orlando. This guy's name
- 41:31Speaker 2: is on the founding stone of that. So if he
- 41:34Speaker 2: opens up a spot, people will pay attention. And I
- 41:37Speaker 2: know that people to this day still miss Luma. Then
- 41:39Speaker 2: on Park Ave, and again, it's going to be very
- 41:43Speaker 2: exciting to see what he does if that's the case.
- 41:46Speaker 13: I actually did ask him, will it be sort of
- 41:47Speaker 13: like a reboot of Luma?
- 41:49Speaker 2: And he didn't.
- 41:49Speaker 13: Seem to think that that's that was the direction that
- 41:52Speaker 13: he was going in. But you're right, you know, corner
- 41:54Speaker 13: chop houses just open there right across the street. If
- 41:56Speaker 13: Brandon moves in there, and again this is all speculation,
- 41:59Speaker 13: we were not that he actually is, but if he does,
- 42:01Speaker 13: it would really bring a whole new fresh excitement to
- 42:04Speaker 13: that corner of Mannibal Square.
- 42:05Speaker 2: Yeah. One of the most respected chefs in the city
- 42:07Speaker 2: by far.
- 42:08Speaker 13: Absolutely, Yeah, And then really quickly I mentioned Barcatta closed
- 42:11Speaker 13: in Winter Park. That's Michael Swiseki's restaurant. You know, next
- 42:14Speaker 13: week's review will actually be Perlis Pizza, which is right
- 42:16Speaker 13: six right next door. And then post Time. I don't
- 42:19Speaker 13: know if we talk about post Time in Longwood. After
- 42:21Speaker 13: forty three years they've closed, so a lot of closures,
- 42:23Speaker 13: but you know, at the same time there's also openings
- 42:25Speaker 13: as well, and that's just the I mean, that's just
- 42:27Speaker 13: the nature of the restaurant news, you know.
- 42:28Speaker 2: Yeah, well, buddy, listen. As always, we appreciate your insight. Again,
- 42:32Speaker 2: if you missed any of this, you can go to
- 42:33Speaker 2: Jim Cobra Live dot com listen to the podcast, or
- 42:36Speaker 2: just hop onto Orlando Weekly dot com and Rida's column
- 42:39Speaker 2: get called the tip Jar. You can also follow him
- 42:41Speaker 2: on social How do you do that?

- 43:52Speaker 1: Jose Calmo, Orlando's injury attorneys.
- 43:58Speaker 14: So within twenty four hours, I dodged two of the
- 44:01Speaker 14: biggest bullets I've ever dodged in my life. The first
- 44:04Speaker 14: off was I broke up with fiance and She came
- 44:08Speaker 14: over the next day while I was at work and
- 44:10Speaker 14: stole everything out of the house except for my dogs
- 44:12Speaker 14: and one couch that they couldn't fit out the door,
- 44:15Speaker 14: which I didn't know that they were doing it in
- 44:16Speaker 14: the middle of the day. I went out that night
- 44:18Speaker 14: to a bar, celebrated getting rid of her, and walked
- 44:22Speaker 14: out of the bar right into the middle of a
- 44:24Speaker 14: gunfight and dodged actual bullets.
- 44:27Speaker 2: Damn Cross, Don't you tell him that's too many bombs.
- 44:33Speaker 8: That was the perfect amount of bombs.
- 44:37Speaker 2: We're not talking about cocaine.
- 44:38Speaker 3: Guys.
- 44:39Speaker 2: None takes in seven seven zero three one on Jim,
- 44:44Speaker 2: there's deb Hello, Jack Hill and Rock. I'm excited about
- 44:49Speaker 2: what I just looked that that topic or the question
- 44:53Speaker 2: of like what bullets have you dodged? I have to
- 44:55Speaker 2: tell you mine, you know again. I what I do
- 44:58Speaker 2: is I try to throw something out at the beginning
- 44:59Speaker 2: of the show so people need talk back, so like
- 45:01Speaker 2: throughout the program and stuff. Just something that I think
- 45:02Speaker 2: is an interesting question. I saw that on Reddit today
- 45:05Speaker 2: and it was just a general question of asking. And
- 45:08Speaker 2: mine is a girl as well. After my divorce, I
- 45:14Speaker 2: started dating somebody that worked here and and it was
- 45:20Speaker 2: an eye opening experience. And it's one of those things
- 45:23Speaker 2: where you're in it post divorce. You know, you're having
- 45:26Speaker 2: that fun in life. Then a couple things happen. You're like,
- 45:30Speaker 2: ot sideways, you know, that doesn't seem like a normal
- 45:33Speaker 2: relationship kind of thing. And then one other thing happened.
- 45:36Speaker 2: I'm like, that definitely does not seem like a normal
- 45:40Speaker 2: relationship kind of thing. We were having a conversation while
- 45:44Speaker 2: driving down I four, got into an argument. She literally
- 45:47Speaker 2: stopped on I four in downtown Orlando and told me
- 45:51Speaker 2: to get out.
- 45:53Speaker 4: And then the next day all my stuff was on
- 45:55Speaker 4: the lawn of her house that I left over there,
- 45:57Speaker 4: including a dryer that I let her borrow that she
- 46:00Speaker 4: just kicked over in the front yard and it had
- 46:02Speaker 4: been rained on for two days.
- 46:04Speaker 2: That's a sturdy woman, right right, dry out, I'll show you.
- 46:09Speaker 2: And the other the other thing is I remember specifically
- 46:12Speaker 2: our old boss here God named Chris, who's a great guy.
- 46:17Speaker 2: I remember I would go into his office and I
- 46:18Speaker 2: would sit and we would just talk about music and
- 46:20Speaker 2: you know, in just life for you know, an hour
- 46:23Speaker 2: or so, I don't know, once every couple of weeks
- 46:25Speaker 2: or something, right, it was just like a little thing
- 46:26Speaker 2: we would do right, going out and lock the door,
- 46:28Speaker 2: hang out.
- 46:29Speaker 3: Uh.
- 46:29Speaker 2: We both had a lot in common and I love
- 46:31Speaker 2: talking to and a lot of free time. And the
- 46:35Speaker 2: last I remember, I was in the throes of this
- 46:38Speaker 2: relationship and I said, well, good talk buddies. Always, I
- 46:41Speaker 2: gotta gou there and get to work, blah blah blah,
- 46:42Speaker 2: and stood up and as I opened the door, he goes, hey,
- 46:45Speaker 2: he goes, if you stay with that girl, I will
- 46:47Speaker 2: kill you. I mean, basically, my boss told me, like
- 46:51Speaker 2: something that a good friend would do and say, hey,
- 46:53Speaker 2: you're you're with a bad seed, buddy. You may want
- 46:55Speaker 2: to move on, or you may want to reconsider your
- 46:57Speaker 2: thought process of a long term relationship with that with
- 46:59Speaker 2: that person, not gool man. That's the bullet eye dodged.
- 47:03Speaker 2: Now I was heading that way. Does the metaphorical bullet
- 47:06Speaker 2: always have to be a person? It doesn't have to
- 47:08Speaker 2: be in me. It could be anything.
- 47:09Speaker 4: Could be a career decision, it could be could it
- 47:11Speaker 4: be a literal bullet, It could be a.
- 47:13Speaker 2: Little I mean it could I just said it.
- 47:14Speaker 4: Yeah, so that counts. There's been a lot of close
- 47:18Speaker 4: calls for you.
- 47:20Speaker 2: I mean, we have we've experienced this. I was really
- 47:22Speaker 2: more interested in like Jack and deb and what they
- 47:24Speaker 2: would think they're they're like dodging bullets would be.
- 47:28Speaker 4: I had one when I started.
- 47:29Speaker 7: I was an intern here and looking to get hired
- 47:35Speaker 7: or a job in field.
- 47:40Speaker 2: Nothing go ahead, do you know? I don't think you know,
- 47:42Speaker 2: I'm just fast forwarding. Go ahead.
- 47:43Speaker 7: Okay, So I actually had an intern. I had an
- 47:47Speaker 7: interview opportunity with an established broadcaster.
- 47:52Speaker 4: You remember the fabulous sports babe.
- 47:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I do not remember her. She's going a letterman. Yeah,
- 47:58Speaker 2: she was doing a show.
- 48:00Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 48:00Speaker 7: This might have been the tail end of her career,
- 48:02Speaker 7: doing a show over in Tampa. And I went over
- 48:05Speaker 7: for an interview to be a guest booker on her show.
- 48:08Speaker 7: And I just bought the house here in you know,
- 48:12Speaker 7: Winter Springs. So I'm like, but it was an opportunity,
- 48:17Speaker 7: you know. I went there, did the interview, came back,
- 48:20Speaker 7: and you know, I reported back that it went really well.
- 48:23Speaker 7: I said, I think they're going to offer me a job,
- 48:26Speaker 7: and then you know, Jim Phillips went down the hall
- 48:28Speaker 7: and then next thing I know, I got called in
- 48:30Speaker 7: and I got offered. You know, the position here part time,
- 48:34Speaker 7: which led to where I am today, right right right? Yeah,
- 48:39Speaker 7: not not going to Tampa. And I thought, I'm like,
- 48:43Speaker 7: I fully expected them to call and offered me that job.
- 48:46Speaker 2: Doesn't and that was a national show. She had a
- 48:48Speaker 2: national audience. Yeah, but she you know, it's wild though,
- 48:51Speaker 2: she just kind of went away. Her name was Nancy
- 48:53Speaker 2: or something, wasn't it.
- 48:54Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't remember.
- 48:55Speaker 2: Yeah, but she was in the irony was She called
- 48:58Speaker 2: herself the sports baby. She was a bigger girl and
- 49:00Speaker 2: really into sports and stuff like that. But she used
- 49:02Speaker 2: to go on Letterman and really have great appearances. I
- 49:04Speaker 2: thought her show was great. Ill, let's do it all
- 49:06Speaker 2: the time. That's kind of cool, deb something similar.
- 49:09Speaker 5: Had interviewed with another company and the interview process went
- 49:13Speaker 5: so good that they showed me where I would be parking,
- 49:16Speaker 5: how it would get into the building, and I thought
- 49:19Speaker 5: nailed it.
- 49:21Speaker 2: And then the.
- 49:21Speaker 5: Day that they were supposed to call, I waited and
- 49:25Speaker 5: I waited and I waited, and when the phone rang
- 49:28Speaker 5: at nine o'clock at night, I went, ah, I didn't
- 49:31Speaker 5: get it. Good thing because six months later everyone got
- 49:34Speaker 5: blown out.
- 49:34Speaker 2: Oh no way.
- 49:35Speaker 5: And I interviewed again almost a year to the date,
- 49:39Speaker 5: got the job and was there for thirteen years.
- 49:41Speaker 2: Wow. That's awesome.
- 49:42Speaker 7: So that's destiny, not too dissimilar from DEBS. I came
- 49:48Speaker 7: back and said, I think they're going to offer me
- 49:49Speaker 7: the job, and that's when I got the job here.
- 49:52Speaker 7: They never call back and with dirty dogs. Within six months,
- 49:57Speaker 7: she was off the air.
- 49:57Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah did she she It was kind
- 50:00Speaker 2: of abrupt. I mean, she was a big time broadcaster
- 50:02Speaker 2: then out of nowhere. I think it was a health reason,
- 50:04Speaker 2: wasn't it. Or did they just kind of blow her out?
- 50:06Speaker 4: Yeah? I don't know.
- 50:07Speaker 6: I just know was there one day and gone the next.
- 50:12Speaker 2: See, very different, very odd.
- 50:15Speaker 4: This was when I was a child and I was
- 50:17Speaker 4: getting chased by a plush snake. My friend and I
- 50:24Speaker 4: we found out that this little plush toy snake that
- 50:27Speaker 4: if you crack it like a wit, dude, it cracks
- 50:30Speaker 4: like a wit uh huh, and you can hear the
- 50:33Speaker 4: snapping of everything. And it's about four feet long, and
- 50:37Speaker 4: he was chasing me with it. I jetted out into
- 50:40Speaker 4: a street in this side mirror.
- 50:43Speaker 2: Oh my shirt, Oh my god, buddy.
- 50:46Speaker 4: That that's how close I was to getting just ran
- 50:49Speaker 4: over my like eleven years old.
- 50:52Speaker 2: God man, you you've had a lot of life testing
- 50:55Speaker 2: experiences in your short days.
- 50:57Speaker 4: But it hurt my neck because it caught it, like
- 51:02Speaker 4: caught my shirt a little bit, just enough to like
- 51:05Speaker 4: yank it and a little bit of me.
- 51:07Speaker 2: But robbed a gun point twice, almost got run over
- 51:10Speaker 2: his mom's kathy. Yeah, so there's a bunch. There's so
- 51:16Speaker 2: many dodged bullets.
- 51:17Speaker 4: Yeah, man, there was one text that came in was like,
- 51:20Speaker 4: the biggest bullet I ever dodged is when I actually
- 51:22Speaker 4: got shot. Like, you didn't dodge the bullet. You took
- 51:26Speaker 4: the bullet and you took a bullet dodge death. I'm
- 51:28Speaker 4: not sure if you read that text, but it was
- 51:30Speaker 4: a wrong identity.
- 51:31Speaker 6: Yeah, and a guy pulled the chicken.
- 51:34Speaker 2: Yeah, sure, just chicken. Guy pulled up Black Brett. Wrong.
- 51:38Speaker 4: People thought the friend was somebody else, and the bullet
- 51:41Speaker 4: went through his friend into this guy's I think ankle or.
- 51:44Speaker 5: Knee or something, through the middle of him and into
- 51:47Speaker 5: his buddy's knee.
- 51:47Speaker 4: I'm like, brother, you gotta wei, you gotta take this
- 51:50Speaker 4: question in a different way.
- 51:53Speaker 2: Might understand this. Maybe we should do an English lessons first.
- 51:56Speaker 2: We'll move on to the question question all right for seven,
- 51:59Speaker 2: nine for one. So you know, we pick on Jack
- 52:01Speaker 2: all the time because Jack will sit over there and
- 52:03Speaker 2: he picks his arms. We've talked about it forever. He
- 52:05Speaker 2: started wearing long sleeve shirts to try to get it
- 52:08Speaker 2: to stop. So Jack text me this morning and he goes,
- 52:11Speaker 2: or I think when I was walking in today, he says, hey, look,
- 52:13Speaker 2: I went to the doctor as a dermatologist for my
- 52:16Speaker 2: picking thing.
- 52:17Speaker 4: Uh so I have an update.
- 52:20Speaker 7: Yeah, so it was my annual annual exam. Dermatologist that
- 52:24Speaker 7: they called reminded me.
- 52:25Speaker 2: I'm like, oh yeah, oh yeah, go oh yeah. The
- 52:27Speaker 2: dermatologists will certainly remind you.
- 52:29Speaker 7: And it's good in no you need but this is
- 52:32Speaker 7: important because you know the you know, the whole skin
- 52:35Speaker 7: cancer thing, and I know the damage I did, and
- 52:37Speaker 7: how I just you know, I think all of us
- 52:41Speaker 7: we didn't care. We did in the seventies and eighties.
- 52:44Speaker 7: It was like, nah, whatever, you know, you reveled in
- 52:46Speaker 7: your sunburn Exactly in the seventies and eighties, it wasn't
- 52:50Speaker 7: even considered an organ yet.
- 52:51Speaker 2: Yeah, that's like a late nineties thing.
- 52:54Speaker 7: And so I would, you know, and I notice it
- 52:57Speaker 7: more here it was like as a kid, I used
- 52:59Speaker 7: to he's picked my scabs.
- 53:01Speaker 2: I know it's gross. Whatever, get over you get over
- 53:04Speaker 2: it here. Yeah, that's what we're fine here. This guy
- 53:07Speaker 2: wants me to get over me and picking himself apart.
- 53:09Speaker 7: If I'm not like doing something with my hands, if
- 53:12Speaker 7: I'm just sitting here, that's when my hands are like
- 53:14Speaker 7: my arms, and then you know.
- 53:16Speaker 2: You feel something, It's like, oh, that's what's that. So
- 53:18Speaker 2: it's a little bump and you start just kind of
- 53:20Speaker 2: you just kind of start picking it exactly. It could
- 53:22Speaker 2: be a mosquito bite. Man, it doesn't matter.
- 53:24Speaker 7: It's respond to your nail and then you you turn
- 53:27Speaker 7: it into something.
- 53:28Speaker 2: Yeah, and I've had them. I mean, next thing, you know,
- 53:31Speaker 2: you got a blood pond your forearm two years ago.
- 53:33Speaker 2: I think we started.
- 53:34Speaker 7: I still have the scars because I keep messing with them,
- 53:36Speaker 7: right right. So then I had a couple others and
- 53:39Speaker 7: finally I brought I'm like, listen, I keep doing this,
- 53:42Speaker 7: and he's like he looks at it and goes, Okay,
- 53:44Speaker 7: they're not a problem, meaning they're not cancer.
- 53:47Speaker 4: Are you sure this is a dermatology issue or more
- 53:49Speaker 4: of a psychology issue.
- 53:50Speaker 7: Well, this guy goes, you want me to get rid
- 53:51Speaker 7: of them. I'm like, what do you mean get rid
- 53:53Speaker 7: of them?
- 53:54Speaker 4: No?
- 53:54Speaker 7: No, no, that's fine. Then I'm like, well, wait, wait a minute,
- 53:56Speaker 7: what do you mean. He goes, it's covered by insurance.
- 53:58Speaker 7: I go keep talking.
- 54:01Speaker 2: And I'll take any free procedure fire away.
- 54:05Speaker 7: He goes, you know, we can burn him off. I'm like,
- 54:08Speaker 7: that's not gonna work. He goes, I can't, I'll cut
- 54:10Speaker 7: it off. I'm like, I'm like, all right, just do it.
- 54:13Speaker 4: Just do it.
- 54:14Speaker 7: He goes, you know, it'll he'll over be smooth and
- 54:17Speaker 7: less less likely for you to mess with it.
- 54:20Speaker 2: I'm like, you know, so, I'm like, all right.
- 54:22Speaker 7: He takes his hypodermic must be sailine, a whole hypodermic,
- 54:26Speaker 7: and he shoots it. He goes into it, right under it,
- 54:30Speaker 7: and he shoots it into my skin. This thing a
- 54:32Speaker 7: whole hypodermic. This thing bubbles off.
- 54:36Speaker 4: Like that did my dog's back.
- 54:38Speaker 7: And then takes this little razor blade between his fingers
- 54:43Speaker 7: and just goes.
- 54:45Speaker 4: And ah the top off of it, like you cut
- 54:50Speaker 4: the into it. One.
- 54:53Speaker 2: He just cut the top off of that little mountain.
- 54:55Speaker 4: He bab Oh my god, dude, I know that's what
- 54:58Speaker 4: he did.
- 54:58Speaker 7: And then he had like topical stuff on a I
- 55:02Speaker 7: don't even know what he put on it, and he's
- 55:04Speaker 7: just like that, just don't worry about it, just wash
- 55:07Speaker 7: it normal and you're fine. Didn't even put a band
- 55:10Speaker 7: aid on it.
- 55:11Speaker 2: I did.
- 55:11Speaker 4: Walked out of the door.
- 55:12Speaker 2: Did you see this guy of burned out shonies? Yeah?
- 55:15Speaker 2: What was he wearing?
- 55:15Speaker 4: Trench coat? Trench coat, one rain boot. Did you get
- 55:20Speaker 4: this guy's last name? God bog? Dude?
- 55:25Speaker 2: That is brutal, Like I mean, I would I don't
- 55:27Speaker 2: know about volunteer to have like my arm locked.
- 55:30Speaker 7: Well, he goes come back in two months, I'm like,
- 55:32Speaker 7: he goes six weeks, he goes six weeks.
- 55:34Speaker 4: To two I'm like, wait two weeks. I'm like, what
- 55:37Speaker 4: time frame?
- 55:38Speaker 2: He goes six weeks?
- 55:38Speaker 4: I'm like, ah, what.
- 55:39Speaker 7: Happens at the you know, January one, our deductible reset.
- 55:45Speaker 2: I'm like, man, you got me for the next three
- 55:47Speaker 2: weeks and after that you can take your free seven sticket?
- 55:52Speaker 2: Are you all right? Oh?
- 55:53Speaker 4: Fine?
- 55:54Speaker 7: It feels I'm just waiting for now. I gotta wait
- 55:56Speaker 7: a couple of weeks for at the heel and then but.
- 55:57Speaker 2: That's not why you picked though, right? I mean the
- 55:59Speaker 2: picking is something else. I don't know what the picking is.
- 56:02Speaker 2: I'm crazy. I'm on it anxiety.
- 56:05Speaker 4: I'm gonna ask ai, and I'm also going to tell
- 56:08Speaker 4: me to answer it back in a fun way.
- 56:10Speaker 2: Okay.
- 56:11Speaker 7: Oh boy, uh he did said, he goes, he goes.
- 56:14Speaker 7: That's common, he goes. That's common. I see it all
- 56:17Speaker 7: the time. Oh really, yeah, people just picking.
- 56:19Speaker 2: Their scars and whatever. Hey, Grock, why is Jack disassembling himself? Why?
- 56:25Speaker 4: Why does my friend always have an open wound? Your
- 56:28Speaker 4: friend likes math? Why is he always leaking? Yeah?
- 56:33Speaker 7: That's couldn't believe it just I mean, it just bubbled.
- 56:35Speaker 7: I'm like, I saw how much fluid. I'm like, where's
- 56:37Speaker 7: all that gonna go?
- 56:38Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 56:39Speaker 7: And it just bubbled it up. And then he just
- 56:42Speaker 7: this little razor between his two fingers and he just
- 56:45Speaker 7: scooped it up.
- 56:46Speaker 2: Dude, that's crazy. I have to tell you, man. You
- 56:48Speaker 2: know I've been to the dermatologists number of times. I
- 56:50Speaker 2: will tell you what I don't like about it. I
- 56:52Speaker 2: don't like medical procedures that happened too quickly, Like I
- 56:56Speaker 2: don't like these rush judgments on do you want to
- 56:58Speaker 2: do this? Now I'm like, now, do you're talking about
- 57:00Speaker 2: cutting me? And I'm just like making this like I'm
- 57:03Speaker 2: gonna choose between which soda I want today. I was
- 57:05Speaker 2: in there less than six minutes.
- 57:07Speaker 4: That is that is that is insane.
- 57:10Speaker 2: Out six minutes in and now on and off. That's
- 57:13Speaker 2: a that's a medical procedure that caused you to bleed
- 57:17Speaker 2: and it lasted less than a commercial break. Yeah, I
- 57:20Speaker 2: don't know about I don't like that, man, I don't
- 57:23Speaker 2: I don't like medical procedures to go fast. I want
- 57:26Speaker 2: them to take time. It doesn't it seem more professional
- 57:29Speaker 2: if they're taking time. Which would that trip you out?
- 57:32Speaker 2: Dev if you went in for a procedure and it
- 57:33Speaker 2: took like four minutes.
- 57:35Speaker 5: Not the procedure, but it happening within a six minute
- 57:38Speaker 5: you know appointment?
- 57:39Speaker 6: You know, hey, how you doing?
- 57:41Speaker 2: Let's cut that exactly.
- 57:43Speaker 7: It seems like I was So I'm walking out the
- 57:45Speaker 7: door ten minutes after I walk in with my next appointment,
- 57:49Speaker 7: already booked my little sample thing of cream.
- 57:54Speaker 2: A right, do they tell you putting me a sporn
- 57:56Speaker 2: on it or something like that or a.
- 57:57Speaker 7: Battle already said just watch it normal in the shit,
- 58:00Speaker 7: that's all he said, watch it normal, I'm reading right here.
- 58:03Speaker 4: It could lead to scarring infections in a constant cycle
- 58:06Speaker 4: of making their skin worse and then picking at it
- 58:09Speaker 4: even more emotionally. It can make someone feel embarrassed, stressed,
- 58:14Speaker 4: or like they've lost control over a bad impulse and
- 58:18Speaker 4: tell only when I'm here.
- 58:20Speaker 2: No, that's not true. You pick it home too, I
- 58:22Speaker 2: know it. I think you pick in your sleep. You
- 58:23Speaker 2: talk to your wife. Your wife said, you pick it everywhere.
- 58:25Speaker 2: You gotta look at the bed sheets, bring in your
- 58:27Speaker 2: bed shirt. It's not the bet now it's watching TV?
- 58:30Speaker 2: Is it really?
- 58:31Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 58:31Speaker 7: I'll if you've met you know, that's why I need
- 58:33Speaker 7: to drink. If I'm I'm drinking, I gotta drink in
- 58:35Speaker 7: my hand.
- 58:36Speaker 2: That's why I mean I need to drink.
- 58:39Speaker 7: See, I went to drinks only on weekends. Some nutritionist
- 58:44Speaker 7: told me I should really cut back.
- 58:46Speaker 4: Lame. They said, once a week, I'm laying. I'll give
- 58:49Speaker 4: you two.
- 58:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 58:50Speaker 2: Yeah, we're gonna have a nutritionist in next Tuesday. Good,
- 58:53Speaker 2: maybe I could get a different opinion. Yeah, Sarah Gaya
- 58:55Speaker 2: is coming in and we're hoping maybe start something with her.
- 58:58Speaker 2: She's a licensed nutritionist and a dietitian here in Orlando,
- 59:02Speaker 2: and uh I had her on for Primetime Kitchen years
- 59:04Speaker 2: and years ago, and she reached out to my wife
- 59:06Speaker 2: because my wife used to book gigs for us, and
- 59:08Speaker 2: so I made contact with her and our first show
- 59:11Speaker 2: with her, we're gonna bust some myths. You know a
- 59:13Speaker 2: lot of stuff out there when it comes to nutrition
- 59:15Speaker 2: that are that you know, you hear on TikTok, or
- 59:17Speaker 2: you hear on Instagram, or you your buddy tells you
- 59:19Speaker 2: something or whatever. Uh So we have four or five
- 59:22Speaker 2: myths that she's gonna come in and bust up a
- 59:23Speaker 2: little bit and then give us some alternatives to what
- 59:26Speaker 2: that is and then maybe start a little segment where
- 59:28Speaker 2: she can come in and do more of that. That'd
- 59:30Speaker 2: be great help out a lot, Jack.
- 59:32Speaker 4: Do you ever, whenever you pick, do you feel a
- 59:34Speaker 4: brief hit of relief?
- 59:37Speaker 2: Yeah, then regret it's relief, then regret. All right, It's
- 59:40Speaker 2: just like shopping. Just so if you have a shopping addiction,
- 59:42Speaker 2: it's the same exact thing.
- 59:43Speaker 4: Would you say that the loop is tension pick relief,
- 59:48Speaker 4: regret tension pick? Yeah?
- 59:51Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Oh buddy, this is getting worse for you.
- 59:54Speaker 2: Do you do you really realize if something gets stressful
- 59:56Speaker 2: that you you kind of you, I don't realize you
- 59:59Speaker 2: revert to that. You don't, no, it's happened.
- 1:00:01Speaker 7: I'm not even realizing it's it's just here and you're
- 1:00:06Speaker 7: droning on, and then I'm just like, well.
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: Like Jimmy playing with his beard, I've literally pulled a
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: part of my body. I have it, I have it right,
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: just I cut it so you can't see it, but
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: underneath there I like deb says, I've pulled a hole
- 1:00:19Speaker 4: of hair out, just effing with it.
- 1:00:21Speaker 7: When I had a goateate constantly can't hands on my face.
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: It's constant, you can't stop. Says that some people zone
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: out while picking. Neurologically, this resembles a disassociative micro state.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: Man, I bet there are people out there listening to
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: us right now that have tons of these little eccentricities
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: or little things that they do nuances to calm them down,
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: or you know, do whatever. I don't think I have
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: one of those, though, except for the twisting of the
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: beard is the thing I have for sure.
- 1:00:48Speaker 4: I can't compare the two, like sure they're the same,
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: nervous maybe energy or like not nervous energy, but go
- 1:00:54Speaker 4: to action. But like Jack's bleeding, I don't need a
- 1:00:59Speaker 4: band aid for my boat, for my goate.
- 1:01:01Speaker 7: No, oh, I cut my thumb today. Check this out
- 1:01:06Speaker 7: real quick. Where do I get Where do I buy
- 1:01:08Speaker 7: my bagels?
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: Costco? You know you gotta.
- 1:01:11Speaker 7: Cut them right, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I get the
- 1:01:14Speaker 7: big serrated knife. I know the resistance and you gotta
- 1:01:18Speaker 7: you know, cut and you cut towards your hand until
- 1:01:20Speaker 7: you get close and then you get your hand out
- 1:01:21Speaker 7: of the way and you.
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: Just like right after. Yeah, yeah, do this every day.
- 1:01:27Speaker 7: Someone wife, uh, cut me a bagel yesterday, but didn't
- 1:01:33Speaker 7: have a bagel.
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: Put it back in.
- 1:01:37Speaker 7: So basically I grab what is now a pre cut bagel,
- 1:01:41Speaker 7: I grab the.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: Knife and I go zoom and goes right down to
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: my thumb.
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: Let one out.
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: No, that's why that's an odd responsibility.
- 1:01:56Speaker 4: That's why he picks because he's gassy. It's a weird cycle.
- 1:01:59Speaker 7: But I got a new I got a new cut
- 1:02:02Speaker 7: that's gonna heal over and I can pick.
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: Oh, yay, all right, yay, we're happy for you. But
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: as a bobcat for a pen, thank god, dude. All

- 1:03:08Speaker 4: It's true Friday, thank you as well, buddy.
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: Yeah, it's mutual. I threw this out at the beginning
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: of the show today because I saw it on Reddit
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: and it was just a simple question, you know, what
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: is the biggest bullet you dodged in your life? It
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: could have been I mean, it's not you know, that's
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: not literal. You know, you don't have to actually have
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: been in a gunfight, just you know what, what like
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: event in your life did you dodge? And it turned
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: out to be very very fortuitous. You know, it turned
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: out great for you, and to be honest with you,
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: I never expect to take phone calls because we don't
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: really do that hardly anymore. But we do have a
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: couple of calls here and if you'd like to, you
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: can do it as well. Let's get right to it.
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: Here's Tom Tom. How you doing, buddy?
- 1:03:45Speaker 8: Hey, I'm doing good.
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: Love your show, bro, Thanks buddy, appreciate that.
- 1:03:49Speaker 8: Okay, so try to get this quickly. We have these
- 1:03:53Speaker 8: friends who uh were buying a piece of property and
- 1:03:58Speaker 8: they needed one hundred and forty grand. Well, we happen
- 1:04:01Speaker 8: to have one hundred and forty in our ira and
- 1:04:05Speaker 8: my wife was like, you know, maybe we should do it.
- 1:04:08Speaker 8: And the guy said, well, you know I got this duly.
- 1:04:12Speaker 8: You know, if I don't follow through, you can have
- 1:04:15Speaker 8: the duely, you can have the piece of property. And
- 1:04:17Speaker 8: I looked at my wife and I said, you know what,
- 1:04:19Speaker 8: I don't want to be ninety years old going do
- 1:04:21Speaker 8: you want fries with that? You know? So you know,
- 1:04:26Speaker 8: I talked he out of it, and it turned out that,
- 1:04:30Speaker 8: you know, they erecked the truck. He got Alzheimer's, she
- 1:04:34Speaker 8: turned into an alcoholic, and we would have lost everything
- 1:04:38Speaker 8: had we done that.
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:04:40Speaker 8: Man, you know, you want to help people, but sometimes
- 1:04:45Speaker 8: you just got to be like, you know, I'm not
- 1:04:48Speaker 8: giving these people everything I have. Like I said, I
- 1:04:50Speaker 8: don't want to be at McDonald's going, hey, do you
- 1:04:53Speaker 8: want fries with that?
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, I got your buddy for sure. That's good.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: That's a good story, Bunny. Thanks for calling. I appreciate that.
- 1:04:59Speaker 4: Yeah, lend of money that could be yeah, a tough one.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: Then I don't want money. That's a considerable sum.
- 1:05:05Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, forty k's a lot of money. I mean,
- 1:05:07Speaker 4: you're dipping into your retirement to do it. It was his
- 1:05:10Speaker 4: retirement account.
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: I mean, I think he said it was the entire thing.
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: I once lost a plane ticket for about forty minutes
- 1:05:16Speaker 4: in an airport when I was like sixteen seventeen, right
- 1:05:21Speaker 4: where I last left. It was in the middle of
- 1:05:23Speaker 4: a gift shop, next to all the crossword puzzles. Oh no.
- 1:05:26Speaker 4: I got to the gate, looked for my ticket, couldn't
- 1:05:28Speaker 4: find it, started tracking my steps there.
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: It was right next to some like sudoku. Are you serious? Yeah? Yeah, wow.
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: You know My wife and I were. She was going
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: through the her laundry the other day, and even though
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: the cruise that we went on was a while ago.
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: You know. Sometimes she didn't wear some of the clothes,
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: and some of the ones she did wear. So as
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: she's unpacking some of the stuff, she finds, you know,
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: and casinos there's you know, you just get a ticket now, right,
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: so when you win something the slot machine or whatever,
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: we'll just put a ticket out. You take that ticket
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: to the cage and they can show out there you're
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: not walking around with money in the casino and everything
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: like that. And she found a ticket she didn't trade
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: back in. She totally forgot about it. Maybe I had
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: a couple too many drinks as we're playing slots, completely
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: forgot about it. And now we don't know if we
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: can redeem it or not. And unfortunately it's a pretty
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: good dime. Oh it's like four hundred dollars. That seems
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: like a bullet you got hit by. What's that?
- 1:06:19Speaker 4: Where's the dodged bullet on that one? No, no, no, there's
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: no dodge. It looks like you kind of caught a stray.
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: Actually, I don't think we get to redeem it though,
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: I mean I looked it up and they said that
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: it has a thirty day exemption. Oh but if you
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: can call the cruise ships sometimes they'll make arrangements where
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: you can use it on the neck. And you know,
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: of course we're going on the same exact ship in
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: April next year, so we're hoping to be able to
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: use it. But it clearly says right there after thirty days,
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: this is no on void worth nothing. Oh that sucks.
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: Huh that does.
- 1:06:48Speaker 7: Don't wonder how much money they make on Oh my fired,
- 1:06:52Speaker 7: Oh my god, dude.
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: That's how it works. Yeah, man.
- 1:06:55Speaker 4: And here's the thing.
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: It's just like with casinos. I mean, you go on
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: cruise ships and go to casino and go to Vegas
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: for one thing, one thing only that's a let go.
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: You know, you get in there, you're drinking free drinks
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: and stuff, and you get these tickets and you know
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: you're hammered. You put them in the pocket and you forget,
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: you know, And that's fine if you're.
- 1:07:10Speaker 4: One of those people who goes to Vegas just for
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: the shows. But just know, you could be cooler. Yeah,
- 1:07:16Speaker 4: you could do something fun.
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: You could do something even crazy. Hey, real quick, before
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: we get to the top of the hour, I did
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: want to ask a quick question about technology and I
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: know this is always very entertaining to you guys, because
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: I'm really astute when it comes to the stuff that
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: keeps you on the edge of tech. Right. Have you
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: guys noticed lately when you're surfing the net there are
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: always the pop up ads, you know. I go to
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: news websites all the time, and as you start scrolling,
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: you'll get that pop up thing in that bottom right
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: hand corner. It could be a video that's playing from
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: the top that it moves to the bottom so you
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: don't miss the ad. That's kind of one of the
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: pieces of technology they use to make sure that you
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: know that the person paying for that spot gets in
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: front of you as much as possible.
- 1:07:53Speaker 4: Yep. And then you go to that little X and
- 1:07:55Speaker 4: you click that X and off it goes right. Correct?
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: Have you noticed a change in that experience? Not with
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: the one site where it happens to me often, I
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: have noticed this. Here's what it does now. So now,
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: like let's say you click onto, we'll just say CNN
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: dot com whatever, right, and it's usually in with Fox
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: or any other news site, same, CBSABC, whatever. They'll have
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: a main story, right, and that main story will almost
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: always have a video associated with it, right, okay, so
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: as you scroll that up, that video will will automatically
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: transfer to the bottom right hand corner of your page
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: so that you can see it playing, and you have
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: to physically click that little X to click out. Right before,
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: when I click that X, it immediately disappeared. Now it's different.
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: When you click on those xs. Now it says closing
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: and it continues to play for about another three to
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: five seconds before it actually shuts down. That's a new thing.
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: I'm not seeing that, and I started seeing it just
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: like last week. I was like, Oh, they don't close anymore.
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: When you click on them, it says it brings up
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: the word closing, but it still plays another three five second.
- 1:09:00Speaker 7: I think the amount they get paid for the advertising
- 1:09:03Speaker 7: it directly correlates to how many seconds it was in
- 1:09:06Speaker 7: front of a viewer's eye.
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: And that's exactly why they do it. Yeah, you know,
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: how much exposure do you have to the ad? So
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: it actually instead of immediately closing it out, now when
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: you click on it, it says closing. It's letting you
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: know it's gonna get rid of it for you. But yeah,
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: it's to make you watch at least three or four
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: more seconds about it, for sure? I found that very interesting.
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: All right, four oh seven nine one six four one.
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: You can always text us at seven seven zero three
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: one back in a second with more than Jim Colbert Show.
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: Good afternoon, Culbert Cruse. Hello, young Jeff Bread.
- 1:09:42Speaker 12: Thank you so much for bringing up Jim picking his beard.
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: Yeah, you do need to quit.
- 1:09:50Speaker 11: I've been after you for about a year now to
- 1:09:52Speaker 11: quit picking your beard.
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: Jack Quick picking his arms. You need to man up, honey,
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: Oh man up?
- 1:10:06Speaker 6: Angry with you?
- 1:10:07Speaker 4: You got no dicky, dude, I felt like both of
- 1:10:10Speaker 4: your grandma's seven seven zero three one.
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: Welcome back to the Jim Colbert Show. I'm Jim. There's
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: deb Hello. Ross is here as well. I'm still confused.
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: Do we have a fifth panel yet?
- 1:10:25Speaker 8: Are we on it?
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: Oh?
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: Yeah, we put her up there real quick. Sarah from
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: Fisy Trivia here today, guys. Yeah, you're good. Go ahead.
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: Oh no, Mike up, dude, Mike up here. Yeah, he's
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: got it. He's gonna do it over there. Hello, you
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: are how you doing, Sarah?
- 1:10:43Speaker 12: I'm doing great.
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: Sarah from he Expanding by the minute. Huh. Last time
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: we saw you, you had like a couple of places.
- 1:10:54Speaker 15: You do it.
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: Now, you got a bunch of more and stuff. Tell
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: us what's going on? Crazy?
- 1:10:58Speaker 12: Yeah, my team just keeps growing, which is nuts. People
- 1:11:01Speaker 12: just keep coming to me being like, I want to
- 1:11:03Speaker 12: work with you and Mike. Really okay, let's talk about it.
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: The only is the Orlando's only female owned and operated
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: trivia game in town. Damn right, not bad at all.
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: So now, how many locations now? For six?
- 1:11:16Speaker 8: Six?
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: Yes, I know that's crazy. Congratulations, man, that's awesome, Thank
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: you so much. So we'll be doing some fighty trivia
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: a little bit later in the program for extended prizes.
- 1:11:26Speaker 7: We have a bunch of jack, do you want to know?
- 1:11:28Speaker 7: I mean I could tell you. Yeah, I got like
- 1:11:30Speaker 7: seven total prizes. Yeah, okay, I'll tell you what they are.
- 1:11:34Speaker 7: We're going to start after the break, right, yeah, after
- 1:11:36Speaker 7: we'll come back in a minute. We'll start in a second.
- 1:11:38Speaker 7: I just wanted to introduce uh Sarah and find out.
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: What's going on. Hey, you know, we do have a
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: Question of the day up. We do this almost almost
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: every day every day. I remember, Jack does a good
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: job filling in what I do not remember. But today's
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: was kind of interesting because it was based on a
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: news story I saw. So, you know, I think that
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: when you watch the news and maybe kind of go around,
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: you know, I think McDonald's said today that one of
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: the ways that you can tell, or this is a
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: McDonald's story, one of the ways you can tell if
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: the economy is slowing down is through McDonald's. And there's
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: one particular way. Do you know what it is? No meals,
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: a dollar menu breakfast. Oh yeah, So when people stop
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: buying breakfast at McDonald's, that is a you it can
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: be an indicator that things, you know, are kind of
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: slowing down. People are really starting to pinch their pennies.
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: Whereas before they would drop in spend that five six
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: seven dollars on breakfast, they're kind of passing that up
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: now maybe eating a home and then just having dinner
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: or lunch out and around.
- 1:12:31Speaker 4: When you laugh at I'm because like that's how that's
- 1:12:34Speaker 4: such an American fact. Sure, you know, like Native Americans
- 1:12:38Speaker 4: would look at moss on the side of an oak
- 1:12:41Speaker 4: in danger that way. Our version is like we stopped
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: buying the McDonald's breakfastes. We don't have mcmuffet or.
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: Recessions right around the corner Yeah. So with that said,
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: you know, people are kind of realizing you're to be
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: pairing back your Christmas spending. You know, people already kind
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: of realizing that's happening. The you know, per sell price,
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: the expect or, a percell uh uh.
- 1:13:04Speaker 6: Hand semitizerd no, the.
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: Purcell sat percell.
- 1:13:07Speaker 5: No.
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: Real people, your per sale experience, your ticket right when
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: you go and chop your total number there, they're saying
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: that's gonna be a little bit lower. I just had
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: a Mitch McConnell moment there for a second. And the
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: reason I bring this up is what the question of
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: the day is this? And I'll ask you guys this
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: when going around the room, and you can let me
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: know how you feel about it. If you opened up
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: a gift on Christmas morning, all right, and that gift
- 1:13:31Speaker 2: was from a thrift store, would you have a problem
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: with it?
- 1:13:34Speaker 6: No, depends on what it is.
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: See I I think that's important as well. But you know,
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: if let's say you open under their story. If you
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: opened up open it up it was a pair of
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: jeans and a shirt, right, and it was a really
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: nice pair of jeans and a really nice shirt, but
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: it was pre owned. It did come from a thrift store.
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: Would you have a problem with that? Would it be
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: an issue? And I want you to be honest. There's
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: no reason you can't be honest except for I'm gonna
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: make fun of you say the wrong thing. Oh my god, No,
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: I'm you know what.
- 1:14:08Speaker 4: I will be honest, and this is the right answer.
- 1:14:11Speaker 4: If it's within five years, I'm.
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: Not happy about it. What do you mean within five years?
- 1:14:15Speaker 4: If it's five years old? But if it's older than
- 1:14:19Speaker 4: like five, no, ten, it's got to be older than
- 1:14:21Speaker 4: ten years old.
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: So you vintage?
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: Because then that's the whole reason why, Like, that's the
- 1:14:26Speaker 4: only way you can get vintage stuff is really pre
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: owned or pre us Well, let.
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: Me get you this. Then what if it's an air fryer,
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: pre owned air fryer? If you get that for Christmas?
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: Not in a box? It's not nothing.
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: It's just in a regular cardboard box. It's very clean,
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: it worked perfectly, but it is pre owned. If you
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: had a pre owned air fryer, would you be fine?
- 1:14:47Speaker 4: I would be fine. However, I would judge the person.
- 1:14:51Speaker 4: You shouldn't be fine right after receiving a gift. You
- 1:14:54Speaker 4: should be better than fine. And I would be indifferent.
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: I think, deb if I got you, if you open
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: your this year and it was a pair of really
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: nice shoes and the girl shoes, it was a really
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: nice pair of shoes from a really reputable maker, but
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: they were pre owned.
- 1:15:12Speaker 5: I'm not fitting my toes over previously pressed in toes. Listen,
- 1:15:17Speaker 5: here's the point. If that's the case, then I would
- 1:15:20Speaker 5: rather that person would just save the money, because really,
- 1:15:24Speaker 5: in the end, it's not about the gift, right, Well,
- 1:15:27Speaker 5: if it's if it's a vintage platter or a vintage book,
- 1:15:31Speaker 5: or even a you know, like a vintage vinyl, that's different.
- 1:15:35Speaker 4: I think this question though, isn't like on the foundation
- 1:15:38Speaker 4: of money. I think in this hypothetical, if you get
- 1:15:41Speaker 4: something from a good will or a thrift store, you're
- 1:15:44Speaker 4: saying that like, no, they thought this was a genuinely
- 1:15:47Speaker 4: like what you wanted and this was a great gift idea,
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: and I'm sticking to it.
- 1:15:50Speaker 5: But you know, the younger generation, thrifting is a big deal.
- 1:15:53Speaker 5: Not giving into fast fashion, right, knowing how many clothes,
- 1:15:58Speaker 5: how much water is used just to me make one
- 1:16:00Speaker 5: brand new pair of genes is ridiculous. So to that generation,
- 1:16:04Speaker 5: I applaud that because they see the value in it,
- 1:16:06Speaker 5: where maybe a millennial you know gen X doesn't in
- 1:16:10Speaker 5: the same way. But I really think it depends on
- 1:16:13Speaker 5: you know who you are and where you're at with that.
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: Jack, You open up the box on Christmas more, be fine.
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: I've got your name on it. It's absolutely awesome. You
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: open it up, and what is it?
- 1:16:23Speaker 8: Jack?
- 1:16:24Speaker 4: It's a it's a very nice and brand new, expensive
- 1:16:29Speaker 4: brand new, but it is pre owned.
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: Okay, dovey for your bed.
- 1:16:34Speaker 7: See the gift itself. It is like, I don't bad,
- 1:16:37Speaker 7: bad choice. Here's the deal, you know, like you don't
- 1:16:40Speaker 7: do vey, No I got we got too many. I've
- 1:16:44Speaker 7: got blankets for about fifty beds and there's one five
- 1:16:47Speaker 7: in my house.
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: All right, five is a lot. Let me just say
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: this about that a lot.
- 1:16:51Speaker 7: I'm okay with the thrift story because my wife is
- 1:16:54Speaker 7: a thrifter and often will come home with some great stuff,
- 1:16:58Speaker 7: great fines, uh, and I benefit from that, and so
- 1:17:02Speaker 7: I know these are you know, you can get really
- 1:17:06Speaker 7: cool stuff that doesn't have.
- 1:17:08Speaker 4: To come from a store, reduce, reused, recycle.
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: I'm on board.
- 1:17:11Speaker 4: Let's go.
- 1:17:13Speaker 7: I don't mind. But it does depend on the item
- 1:17:15Speaker 7: you mentioned that the air fryer. You know, you know
- 1:17:19Speaker 7: what you get with appliances that have already been used.
- 1:17:22Speaker 7: You could get a little cockroach problem.
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: No warranty either, Sarah. Okay, all right, it's Christmas time.
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: You see a box under the tree. It says from Jim,
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: your friend Jim.
- 1:17:33Speaker 6: Okay, you definitely don't want to open it.
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: You open it up and it is a beautiful pair
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: of gold ear rings. But they are from a thrift store.
- 1:17:42Speaker 12: That's completely fine.
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: You have no problem with that whole different and I
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: know you are too. Yeah, that's why brothers up.
- 1:17:49Speaker 4: I lost.
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: All the rules go out the window and it's jewelry,
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: and I a great What about an engage The reason
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: I say that the ear rings is because you actually
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: put them in your ears, and so it's like, you know,
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: it's different than a ring or an.
- 1:18:01Speaker 4: Alcohol No problem. What about an engagement ring?
- 1:18:04Speaker 6: No, it's haunted.
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: Haunted.
- 1:18:07Speaker 4: I would rock an engagement ring like all my pinky
- 1:18:10Speaker 4: Like now, I would find that fun and entertaining, And.
- 1:18:13Speaker 6: They ask, what's he like?
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: It would be like it would be right next to
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: my wedding ring. Yeah, so I don't know. That would
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: be a fun story. I mean, outside of undergarments, is
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: there something that you'd be like, you know, maybe the
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: thrift store moniker does have some you know, effect on
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: how you feel about it.
- 1:18:30Speaker 12: Well, in line with what deb said, I have and
- 1:18:33Speaker 12: do buy use shoes, but only if they're I'm gonna
- 1:18:36Speaker 12: wear a sock if it's like a sandal, I don't
- 1:18:39Speaker 12: think so, especially in.
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: The state like Florida where we sweat.
- 1:18:43Speaker 12: Yes, exactly, but at a sock shoe, I'm fine.
- 1:18:46Speaker 6: Yeah, because there's just some things and.
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: I've actually, matter of fact, I have a really nice
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: pair of golf shoes that I found at a thrift store,
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: and you know, leather, really nice, and pay like eight
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: dollars for on brand new, they're like one hundred and
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: eighty dollars. And I don't have any problem with that either.
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: I purchased a number of pair of shoes from thrift store.
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: I think it.
- 1:19:03Speaker 6: But you know you're wearing socks.
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I would not. You're right, I would not
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: buy Crocs or a pair of sandals or anything.
- 1:19:10Speaker 6: Can you imagine wearing a pair of bugs?
- 1:19:12Speaker 4: I mean, I might be the contrariing here just because
- 1:19:19Speaker 4: I feel so right, I feel like crocs would be
- 1:19:23Speaker 4: ideal to get you because they're open. Yeah, it does
- 1:19:27Speaker 4: not matter.
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: You start smearing your foot sweat all up in that thing.
- 1:19:31Speaker 9: It does.
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: It doesn't come out easily, buddy, I'm just giving your
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: heads up. You wear golf shoes, yeah, but he wears socks.
- 1:19:38Speaker 4: Golf shoes smell like they died back in the fifties,
- 1:19:40Speaker 4: every single one of them.
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: No, they don't, dude, I'm telling you, these are fine.
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: Crocs are gnarly, And I'm telling you if deb is right,
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: here's the thing. Here's where it good trippy like you
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: get even if the flip flops are like brand new
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: and big time like expensive, really nice flip flops. The
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: minute that my toe hits a dent made by another toe,
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: I'm out. I'm out here. I could still get those
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: dents with socks on. I understand Rosher're missing the point.
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: There's are flip flops. You wear socks with flip flops.
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: I'm not there yet.
- 1:20:08Speaker 4: Close now, No, I don't don't laugh that much the
- 1:20:12Speaker 4: socks of floe. I think it really boils down to
- 1:20:16Speaker 4: it's just like whether or not you're gonna like the gift,
- 1:20:18Speaker 4: and like I can receive something that's within five years
- 1:20:21Speaker 4: old and used. But if I like it, then we're good.
- 1:20:24Speaker 4: Do you think it matters who it comes from? And
- 1:20:27Speaker 4: because here's the thing all the theoretical situations we're doing
- 1:20:30Speaker 4: here is me giving you the gift, me giving you.
- 1:20:34Speaker 4: But if if it's your if your loved one, Like
- 1:20:36Speaker 4: if I were to give my wife pre owned ear
- 1:20:39Speaker 4: rings from a thrift store, even if they were really
- 1:20:42Speaker 4: nice diamond eighteen carrot.
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: Gold, she ain't in a role like that. It's not
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: gonna come off like that. That's my wife. It's different.
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: But if I buttonm for my daughter, it would be
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: way different.
- 1:20:51Speaker 4: But and this is kind of what I was trying
- 1:20:53Speaker 4: to get in the beginning, is that I could see
- 1:20:55Speaker 4: your wife getting upset if I'm pre used thriftedt earrings
- 1:20:59Speaker 4: but not vintage ones from the fifties.
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: Yeah, but that's again that's but that's just a time difference. Yeah,
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: but it still matters. So then what what's the line
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: that determines that time that you said?
- 1:21:10Speaker 5: If it's not if it's five years old or younger,
- 1:21:13Speaker 5: then then it's different when it's vintage, when it's from
- 1:21:17Speaker 5: the sixties or seventies. It's a design. It's a stone
- 1:21:20Speaker 5: that you're not going to find at a jeweler. You're
- 1:21:23Speaker 5: not going to find at a store or the mall right, but.
- 1:21:25Speaker 12: We wouldn't consider two thousand and one. Right, So we
- 1:21:28Speaker 12: talked in nineties and before where's the line, Like you said,
- 1:21:30Speaker 12: where's the line?
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: No, it would be when we were kids and you
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: stock it, you sit on it for a few years.
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: What's this room? It's just future gifts.
- 1:21:41Speaker 12: Yeah, they're aging pricetfully.
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: It's like fine, like.
- 1:21:45Speaker 5: Christmas vacation when Chevy Chase gets stuck in the attic
- 1:21:47Speaker 5: and goes, oh, there's your gift.
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: Oh yeah, all those years ago, I forgot all about that.
- 1:21:51Speaker 4: That's a dry age Loue Baton right there. Yeah, well
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: let's go there. I mean, what about me again?
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: If it's like, let's say I go in at a
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: thrift store or a state sale and to find a
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: really nice, you know, handbag that.
- 1:22:03Speaker 5: That's okay, depends on the on the the condition of it.
- 1:22:06Speaker 5: It looks like it's been beat to hell, then don't bother.
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: Like a Louis Vatan or a Gucci bag and it's
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: in pretty good shape. But it's not in perfect shape,
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: you know. And I give that to you as a gift.
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: I mean, do you take that? I mean you go, okay,
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: that's fine. And it's a used deluxe or what do
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: they call a what's the word? They not deluxe?
- 1:22:23Speaker 4: Luxury luxury? There you go, you know, handbag? I mean,
- 1:22:26Speaker 4: do you do you scoff at that? If I get
- 1:22:27Speaker 4: you eat?
- 1:22:28Speaker 12: I think it depends on the girl. I wouldn't want
- 1:22:30Speaker 12: that brand to begin with, even if it was new. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:22:32Speaker 12: I'm not boogie like that.
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: That's your thing.
- 1:22:35Speaker 5: And if you give that to me, just think of
- 1:22:37Speaker 5: the pretty price I'll be able to get for it
- 1:22:38Speaker 5: on you know, like poshop.
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: Everybody do it.
- 1:22:41Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean that's part of the gift. Right, when
- 1:22:43Speaker 4: you give a gift, you should not care about what
- 1:22:46Speaker 4: they do with it, right, You should not. It's easier
- 1:22:49Speaker 4: said than done.
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: You should not like when I sold that bottle of
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: whiskey that dev got me yesterday. I'm telling you something, dude,

- 1:27:12Speaker 12: Okay, ballsy foreign cuisine. Here's your question. Beebmbop is a
- 1:27:17Speaker 12: dish that originated in which country?
- 1:27:20Speaker 8: That's Korea?
- 1:27:21Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: Who got that immediately? Good job, Stacey. You didn't have
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: that one, right, Jim, Yeah, I had that. I did

- 1:42:44Speaker 2: want you to win, don't put me.
- 1:42:46Speaker 6: That's the only one I can think of.

- 1:42:50Speaker 6: Well there, Well, hang on where Jim and I are conferring?
- 1:42:54Speaker 2: I don't know when the show starts. But is it
- 1:42:55Speaker 2: a show that everybody knows?
- 1:42:57Speaker 12: I didn't know it, but I was born in the nineties.
- 1:43:00Speaker 2: You never heard the show it came from.
- 1:43:02Speaker 12: I had never heard of it, But that doesn't mean
- 1:43:04Speaker 12: other people haven't.
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: There's no way it's that though. What did you say
- 1:43:08Speaker 2: about it?

- 1:43:16Speaker 2: Quick googler.
- 1:43:17Speaker 10: There.
- 1:43:17Speaker 2: I know one thing.
- 1:43:19Speaker 4: I know one thing about the Oracle character on Family
- 1:43:21Speaker 4: Matters is that I believe it was supposed to be
- 1:43:23Speaker 4: for one episode, and he dunked so hard on that
- 1:43:27Speaker 4: one episode their ratings went through the roof.
- 1:43:30Speaker 2: They went full time.
- 1:43:31Speaker 8: Here you go.
- 1:43:32Speaker 5: Yeah, it's just like what happened with Robin Williams from
- 1:43:37Speaker 5: Mork and Mindy. Mork was just supposed to be like
- 1:43:39Speaker 5: a guest appearance of one off, but it lit fire,
- 1:43:43Speaker 5: and from then on we learned the name Robin Williams.
- 1:43:46Speaker 2: Why be free?

- 1:43:50Speaker 4: Teresa here online.

- 1:52:35Speaker 2: Now, you guys give it a lab for Jadon.
- 1:52:37Speaker 15: Right.
- 1:52:40Speaker 2: Hello, our local gaming expert drops in every Friday to
- 1:52:43Speaker 2: spend a few minutes going over the world of gaming.
- 1:52:46Speaker 2: He will give me a game to play occasionally. I
- 1:52:49Speaker 2: will do that. I am currently still playing RoboCop and
- 1:52:53Speaker 2: playing High Life, which I just played last night and
- 1:52:56Speaker 2: this morning a little bit got it loaded up find
- 1:52:58Speaker 2: and that's a wild game, dude. Yeah, And look, don't
- 1:53:02Speaker 2: give me anything else because I want to get these
- 1:53:04Speaker 2: down and play these a little bit more so I
- 1:53:05Speaker 2: could give you a better review because I have a
- 1:53:08Speaker 2: really slow learning curve.
- 1:53:09Speaker 17: It's okay, I'm not going to give you a game
- 1:53:11Speaker 17: until you beat one of these games.
- 1:53:12Speaker 2: All right, very good.
- 1:53:13Speaker 6: What was the name of the game you just played?
- 1:53:15Speaker 2: High Life? Hi, High on Life, High on Life.
- 1:53:17Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, and I believe that video game is designed
- 1:53:20Speaker 4: by the same creators of Rick and Morty.
- 1:53:22Speaker 2: Correct, yea, yeah, yeah, very good. You know, yesterday, Jade,
- 1:53:25Speaker 2: we actually were reading some end of the year stuff
- 1:53:28Speaker 2: and they actually did put out a end of the
- 1:53:30Speaker 2: year Best Games of twenty twenty five list.
- 1:53:33Speaker 4: Ross nailed it, right, off the bat. It's a expedition.
- 1:53:36Speaker 4: Thirty three Claire up Scure is going to win Game
- 1:53:39Speaker 4: of the Year. It's amazing.
- 1:53:41Speaker 17: I still haven't played that. Jack's talked about it since
- 1:53:44Speaker 17: I've came on the show. You talked about it last
- 1:53:46Speaker 17: time we were on together. I'm really late on the
- 1:53:49Speaker 17: game and the story behind it.
- 1:53:51Speaker 4: The making of it is also fascinating because it was
- 1:53:53Speaker 4: a bunch of It was a bunch of It was
- 1:53:55Speaker 4: like thirty French dudes that left their video game designing
- 1:53:58Speaker 4: job and went they basically We're told, well, if you
- 1:54:01Speaker 4: like it, go make your own game, and then they went,
- 1:54:03Speaker 4: sure we will, yeah, And they poured their hearts, their
- 1:54:07Speaker 4: passion into a video game and now they are being
- 1:54:10Speaker 4: greatly rewarded for it.
- 1:54:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:54:12Speaker 17: I mean, that's what happens when a lot of these
- 1:54:14Speaker 17: developers hate where they're at because they have so much
- 1:54:17Speaker 17: just overseeing on them. They can't they don't have creative
- 1:54:20Speaker 17: control so much. A lot of these popular games, they
- 1:54:22Speaker 17: go make their own development, they have their own team,
- 1:54:25Speaker 17: and then they just let their minds work and they
- 1:54:28Speaker 17: make masterpieces.
- 1:54:28Speaker 4: We're seeing like the the legacy of old Triple A
- 1:54:32Speaker 4: video games dying and the resurgence of these independent video games.
- 1:54:37Speaker 4: And Claire Obscure is an independent video game. This is
- 1:54:41Speaker 4: their first video game as a company, and they're probably
- 1:54:44Speaker 4: going to win Game of the Year.
- 1:54:45Speaker 2: Yeah, very cool man. What do you got for us, Jade?
- 1:54:48Speaker 17: Well, today, a video game movie came out five nights
- 1:54:52Speaker 17: at Freddy's two. I doubt you've seen the first one.
- 1:54:55Speaker 2: No, I have not, but it actually got a lot
- 1:54:57Speaker 2: of attention. Matter of fact, wasn't it a house this year?
- 1:54:59Speaker 2: And how hard it was it was. I did see
- 1:55:01Speaker 2: the review on the movie. It wasn't very glowing.
- 1:55:04Speaker 3: Oh it wasn't.
- 1:55:04Speaker 2: No, no, no, I see.
- 1:55:06Speaker 3: I don't do spoilers.
- 1:55:07Speaker 17: I don't watch trailers from movies and stuff like that,
- 1:55:09Speaker 17: so I have no clue what's gonna happen. I love
- 1:55:11Speaker 17: the franchise. I played the video games growing up.
- 1:55:14Speaker 2: I didn't even know it was a video game.
- 1:55:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:55:15Speaker 17: It started off as a video yeah yeah, so it
- 1:55:18Speaker 17: was just a quick horror game jump scares. It was
- 1:55:20Speaker 17: nothing crazy, It's it's a mobile game. It started all
- 1:55:23Speaker 17: from a game on your phone, which is wild that
- 1:55:25Speaker 17: it's this.
- 1:55:26Speaker 2: Now, how old are you?
- 1:55:27Speaker 4: Real?
- 1:55:27Speaker 2: Fast? I'm so sorry.
- 1:55:28Speaker 4: Twenty twenty This is the only franchise that I've heard
- 1:55:32Speaker 4: any twenty year olds anything getting nostalgic over.
- 1:55:36Speaker 2: Oh really that's already?
- 1:55:37Speaker 4: Would that be its fine Night at Friday's the first
- 1:55:40Speaker 4: time you've been hit at twenty years old experience something
- 1:55:43Speaker 4: nostalgic in the sense of you grew up on it
- 1:55:46Speaker 4: and now it's getting all of this big bucks pumped
- 1:55:49Speaker 4: into it.
- 1:55:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:55:50Speaker 17: This is probably because I'd be waiting for this movie
- 1:55:52Speaker 17: aince I was a kid. So yeah, this probably is
- 1:55:54Speaker 17: the biggest thing. Now that they're making a whole trilogy.
- 1:55:57Speaker 17: This is like mind blowing. Yeah, it's wild.
- 1:55:59Speaker 2: Yeah, it's got a whole generation just dying for content
- 1:56:02Speaker 2: from it.
- 1:56:03Speaker 17: Yeah, because they don't make video games anymore.
- 1:56:05Speaker 2: It's really unfortunate.
- 1:56:06Speaker 17: But I'm a little late to the party on this
- 1:56:09Speaker 17: video game. I've been playing so much Arc Raiders. Have
- 1:56:11Speaker 17: you been playing arc Raiders over there? I do not
- 1:56:14Speaker 17: know about arc Raiders. Oh dude, it's so it's a
- 1:56:17Speaker 17: kind of it's People say it's like Escape from Tarkoff,
- 1:56:19Speaker 17: but it's not. You just spawn into this giant world
- 1:56:23Speaker 17: and there's these huge robots and they are just coming
- 1:56:26Speaker 17: at you.
- 1:56:27Speaker 3: Dude. It's wild.
- 1:56:28Speaker 2: Like, really I do. I'm running for my life.
- 1:56:30Speaker 17: I've never felt so much fear in real life playing
- 1:56:33Speaker 17: a video game.
- 1:56:34Speaker 2: Really, dude, that's interesting. They hunt you down.
- 1:56:36Speaker 15: Bro.
- 1:56:37Speaker 17: Me and my friends we're on till three in the morning,
- 1:56:39Speaker 17: just playing these games, looting up and here and here's
- 1:56:42Speaker 17: the thing. You get all this loot, and you're kidded
- 1:56:44Speaker 17: and you're just going out there, you're killing other people,
- 1:56:46Speaker 17: and then you die and you lose everything and you
- 1:56:48Speaker 17: get so mad.
- 1:56:49Speaker 2: Isn't that one of the things that like gamers hate
- 1:56:51Speaker 2: more than anything is what's that called? There's a term
- 1:56:53Speaker 2: for that, isn't there Like when you die, you like
- 1:56:55Speaker 2: you lose everything you just gained and went all over.
- 1:56:58Speaker 2: Some games you keep all that, right, Yeah, not this one.
- 1:57:01Speaker 4: So if that makes me want to ask, is this
- 1:57:04Speaker 4: like a survival game in the sense of like a
- 1:57:07Speaker 4: llah a dais.
- 1:57:09Speaker 17: It's sort of like a daisy, but it's its own
- 1:57:12Speaker 17: it's its own beast cool Like, it's a mixture of
- 1:57:15Speaker 17: so many genres into one.
- 1:57:16Speaker 3: I love it.
- 1:57:17Speaker 2: It's awesome.
- 1:57:18Speaker 3: I recommend it.
- 1:57:19Speaker 2: I'm with you, Jim.
- 1:57:20Speaker 4: If I put ten hours into something obtaining my items
- 1:57:23Speaker 4: the way I want to plan my character and I
- 1:57:26Speaker 4: die and I lose it all.
- 1:57:27Speaker 2: I don't play that video game again. That's tough, man. No,
- 1:57:30Speaker 2: there's something to it.
- 1:57:32Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:57:32Speaker 3: It's like crack. You just keep going back to it.
- 1:57:34Speaker 4: It's it's a very great way of like, hey, you
- 1:57:37Speaker 4: don't want to die. It makes you play more carefully
- 1:57:41Speaker 4: for sure, and more strategically.
- 1:57:42Speaker 17: Right Yeah, no, yeah, I'm running in there. I'm going
- 1:57:47Speaker 17: just blasted. Yeah, begging for forgiveness, that's what That's what
- 1:57:50Speaker 17: me and my friends. Yeah, you gotta have fun with it, man.
- 1:57:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:57:56Speaker 17: Another one of my favorite video game franchises of all time,
- 1:58:00Speaker 17: Left fore Dead. They made two video games and we
- 1:58:02Speaker 17: never got a third one. They try to reboot it
- 1:58:05Speaker 17: with Back for Blood and it failed miserably. But now
- 1:58:09Speaker 17: they're trying it for the fourth time. They're trying to
- 1:58:12Speaker 17: reboot the leftwored Dead series. They're not going to use
- 1:58:14Speaker 17: a leftfore Dead name, but it's all the original creators,
- 1:58:17Speaker 17: so it could have potential. But they've already done this
- 1:58:20Speaker 17: and it was a major flop.
- 1:58:21Speaker 2: Wow, that's so crazy that there's a community of these
- 1:58:24Speaker 2: people and like you guys were saying, like they split
- 1:58:25Speaker 2: off air and you guys know who all these developers
- 1:58:28Speaker 2: and all the names of this, like we would know.
- 1:58:29Speaker 2: I believe it's valve like coaches. It's like you know
- 1:58:32Speaker 2: when coaches leave college teams that go to other teams
- 1:58:35Speaker 2: and this, you always know where they are and you
- 1:58:36Speaker 2: guys know all that stuff. It's kind of wild man.
- 1:58:38Speaker 4: Well, it's the closest to put it into sports talk.
- 1:58:41Speaker 4: There are these dynasties with all of these developer teams
- 1:58:45Speaker 4: they Nintendo had this time when they were peaking at
- 1:58:49Speaker 4: this time and Sony was dominant, and then you kind
- 1:58:51Speaker 4: of get involved on who is the game creator or
- 1:58:53Speaker 4: who is leading the charge, and then you find these
- 1:58:56Speaker 4: dream teams on these video games.
- 1:58:58Speaker 2: Those are the games you want to So what attracts
- 1:59:01Speaker 2: kids to a game? Now, Like, if you are going
- 1:59:03Speaker 2: to release a game and you wanted people like from
- 1:59:05Speaker 2: fifteen years old to your age to be really attracted
- 1:59:08Speaker 2: to it, what what are elements you have to put
- 1:59:10Speaker 2: in there to make it happen.
- 1:59:12Speaker 17: I feel like proximity chat is a huge thing. People
- 1:59:14Speaker 17: love being able to talk to other people. It's a
- 1:59:17Speaker 17: big thing in these online games. Yeah, and proximity chats.
- 1:59:20Speaker 17: It's not like you can talk to everybody in the lobby.
- 1:59:22Speaker 17: You have to be next to these people. It's just
- 1:59:25Speaker 17: more of a it's a better experience with proximity chat.
- 1:59:28Speaker 17: And also if you streamers have to play it, that's
- 1:59:31Speaker 17: how you get your games.
- 1:59:32Speaker 8: Really.
- 1:59:33Speaker 17: Now, if you can get popular off a streamer, then
- 1:59:36Speaker 17: your game is set. This guy made an indie game. Man,
- 1:59:40Speaker 17: I'm forgetting the title of it, but he made I
- 1:59:43Speaker 17: want to say, like forty million dollars off an indie
- 1:59:45Speaker 17: game because it blew up on Twitch.
- 1:59:46Speaker 18: Wow.
- 1:59:47Speaker 4: Really?
- 1:59:47Speaker 2: Yeah, if that was like when Twitch started, that's kind
- 1:59:49Speaker 2: of what that created that platform for, right, Like, for
- 1:59:51Speaker 2: gamers to stream their content and play while people paid
- 1:59:55Speaker 2: to do it or paid to watch them. Yeah, pretty much.
- 1:59:57Speaker 17: It's great promotion for these smaller video gamesmpanies. And if
- 2:00:01Speaker 17: you can get big on Twitch, like you have a
- 2:00:03Speaker 17: bunch of people stream in your game, you're going to
- 2:00:05Speaker 17: make so much.
- 2:00:06Speaker 7: I remember the Twitch in the beginning, I'm like, who's
- 2:00:08Speaker 7: gonna watch other people play video games?
- 2:00:11Speaker 8: Oh?
- 2:00:11Speaker 2: My god, it's all I watch?
- 2:00:13Speaker 4: And you know what I would counter that way, who
- 2:00:15Speaker 4: would watch someone play basketball or golf? And here's the
- 2:00:19Speaker 4: reason why. It's because humans hunger for excellence. We want
- 2:00:23Speaker 4: to watch the best do something. Yeah, same thing with
- 2:00:26Speaker 4: video games that we we want to watch the best
- 2:00:30Speaker 4: FIFA player or Madden player or uh any video game.
- 2:00:35Speaker 2: We want to see the best.
- 2:00:36Speaker 17: Yeah. I for me though, it's not even that. It's
- 2:00:38Speaker 17: more of entertainment. I could care less. If you're good
- 2:00:39Speaker 17: at a.
- 2:00:40Speaker 4: Video game, then you are there because they are the
- 2:00:42Speaker 4: best entertainer there.
- 2:00:44Speaker 17: There, I have I have one more for you, since
- 2:00:47Speaker 17: we're getting low on time. We talked about Saudi Arabia
- 2:00:50Speaker 17: by an EA a couple of weeks ago. The deal
- 2:00:53Speaker 17: is fully in agreement and they own ninety three point
- 2:00:56Speaker 17: four percent of the company.
- 2:00:58Speaker 2: Wow, so they own the company.
- 2:00:59Speaker 3: Yeah, it's their company.
- 2:01:01Speaker 2: Have they given any indication which direction they're taking it?
- 2:01:05Speaker 2: Are they just gonna leave it the same? Let developers
- 2:01:06Speaker 2: doing their things and they're just they're just basically hands
- 2:01:09Speaker 2: off investors. Or do they have people they want to
- 2:01:12Speaker 2: use to integrate in there, to create some ideas that
- 2:01:14Speaker 2: maybe are culturally appropriate for them.
- 2:01:16Speaker 17: That's we don't know what's going on. It's really fifty
- 2:01:19Speaker 17: to fifty. I know they're making their stocks private. Oh
- 2:01:22Speaker 17: really yes, yeah, so I know they're changing the company
- 2:01:24Speaker 17: a lot.
- 2:01:24Speaker 8: Wow.
- 2:01:25Speaker 17: I guess this time will tell how it goes.
- 2:01:27Speaker 2: Very nice. Well, good seeing you buddy. As always, we
- 2:01:30Speaker 2: love the information you bring you guys, give it up
- 2:01:31Speaker 2: good loud for Jaydon Grime is the eight minut update.
- 2:01:36Speaker 2: Let's take attle break. We will come back and do
- 2:01:38Speaker 2: Ross thoughts right after this.
- 2:01:50Speaker 5: The name of Batman's butler was Alfred Pennyworth any worth anyways,
- 2:01:56Speaker 5: so you can give me that price.
- 2:01:57Speaker 2: Thank you, Thank you, all right, welcome back to the
- 2:02:02Speaker 2: Jim Colbert Show, Real Radio one oh four point one.
- 2:02:05Speaker 2: Thanks for hanging out with us today. We appreciate that
- 2:02:07Speaker 2: very much. Thanks for Sarah and dropping by and spending
- 2:02:10Speaker 2: about an hour or so forty five minutes or so trivia.
- 2:02:13Speaker 2: It was fun. I always love trivia, man.
- 2:02:15Speaker 5: I love it.
- 2:02:17Speaker 7: So you get that in that scenario, you get to
- 2:02:18Speaker 7: play trivia as opposed to writing it.
- 2:02:21Speaker 2: H yeah, yeah, so much better.
- 2:02:22Speaker 7: I'm Jim, there's deb hello, Jack is here. It's easier
- 2:02:26Speaker 7: for the work you put into it. But when you're
- 2:02:29Speaker 7: on the spot and you can't think of that, the
- 2:02:31Speaker 7: you know the worst.
- 2:02:32Speaker 2: I love it because every time we're trying to guess that,
- 2:02:35Speaker 2: there are people that you can because I used to
- 2:02:36Speaker 2: do this, just screaming at my radio, just screaming as
- 2:02:41Speaker 2: if it was going to go through the lines and
- 2:02:42Speaker 2: tell the answer. Ross is here as well, you know,
- 2:02:46Speaker 2: and he has some thoughts. Let's get him.
- 2:02:50Speaker 3: It's weird.
- 2:02:51Speaker 2: You're gonna try.
- 2:02:51Speaker 3: It's funny my bed sometimes to.
- 2:02:54Speaker 4: Tell you it's Ross injured on the go, spell like sauce.
- 2:02:59Speaker 2: Yes, call him up, it's Rosscott. That's right.
- 2:03:02Speaker 4: Today's Ross thoughts has brought to you by brought to
- 2:03:04Speaker 4: you by Personal Injury Attorney Mode. Duit injured on the go.
- 2:03:08Speaker 4: Just call Mo, Just call MO dot com. He's always
- 2:03:10Speaker 4: throwing great events. He has a holiday party coming up.
- 2:03:13Speaker 4: You can find all about that by going.
- 2:03:15Speaker 2: To his website. Just call dot com.
- 2:03:17Speaker 4: Very nice, So I got. I'm also gonna try to
- 2:03:20Speaker 4: make this sound as positive as I can and as
- 2:03:23Speaker 4: a massive learning lesson. There's so many times, you know,
- 2:03:26Speaker 4: when you look at the great rear view you call
- 2:03:29Speaker 4: life and you and you think about maybe a response
- 2:03:32Speaker 4: that you had that you go, I should have showed
- 2:03:35Speaker 4: more empathy, or I wish I would have said this.
- 2:03:39Speaker 4: I wish I was this person that I am now
- 2:03:42Speaker 4: back then, so I could have responded uh, just better.
- 2:03:49Speaker 2: Do you guys know?
- 2:03:50Speaker 4: Yeah, right, yeah, And there's nothing retrospect retrospect. And it's also, uh,
- 2:03:56Speaker 4: you know, a glass half full. It's also the end
- 2:03:58Speaker 4: result of growing. True. When you are growing to be wiser,
- 2:04:02Speaker 4: you might have a different stance that you had ten
- 2:04:05Speaker 4: years ago.
- 2:04:06Speaker 2: You become way more self aware, I know that, Like
- 2:04:08Speaker 2: you're just way more self aware how you affect people,
- 2:04:11Speaker 2: how people affect you, how you affect situations. And I
- 2:04:14Speaker 2: remember years ago where I think I came in a
- 2:04:19Speaker 2: little too hot. I think it was like the.
- 2:04:20Speaker 4: News was that Sears was closing and that you guys
- 2:04:24Speaker 4: were like, if I remember correctly, not like you guys
- 2:04:28Speaker 4: were weeping or anything, but you guys were bumped.
- 2:04:30Speaker 2: Oh yeah, because I mean it'd be like first credit card. Yeah,
- 2:04:33Speaker 2: And it's anything that you you know, you grew up with.
- 2:04:36Speaker 2: I mean, it was a staple in society when we
- 2:04:39Speaker 2: were young. I mean, you went to Sears to get
- 2:04:41Speaker 2: everything you wanted. So it's just seeing something like that
- 2:04:44Speaker 2: kind of collapses a sign of the times and you know,
- 2:04:46Speaker 2: tell it's not a such a calendar date for you.
- 2:04:49Speaker 4: And I don't know if it was me being too judgmental,
- 2:04:51Speaker 4: at the time. But I remember honestly finding it funny
- 2:04:53Speaker 4: that anybody could be attached to a corporation. Yeah yeah,
- 2:04:56Speaker 4: I remember my eyes going, like, guys, it's Sear.
- 2:05:00Speaker 2: I remember, I remember that that show. That's so crazy.
- 2:05:03Speaker 4: But I what I am completely misunderstanding is exactly what
- 2:05:07Speaker 4: you just said.
- 2:05:08Speaker 2: It was a staple. It's what we did.
- 2:05:11Speaker 4: It was a massive part of our surroundings, corporate or not.
- 2:05:16Speaker 4: We spent a lot of our time, which is the
- 2:05:19Speaker 4: real currency, in and around Sears and their program, their
- 2:05:24Speaker 4: little pamphlet that they would send, and then the catalog.
- 2:05:28Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, man, and when they was in that
- 2:05:30Speaker 2: Christmas catalog out for kids at that time. I mean,
- 2:05:33Speaker 2: you might as well have been sitting on Santa's lap,
- 2:05:35Speaker 2: just like with a with an earpiece. That was everything.
- 2:05:38Speaker 2: It was everything that was.
- 2:05:39Speaker 4: And man, I know what I'm about to say you've
- 2:05:42Speaker 4: heard before, but I can feel it.
- 2:05:44Speaker 2: And it wasn't just a staple for me. It wasn't
- 2:05:47Speaker 2: just a staple for you.
- 2:05:49Speaker 4: But I'm pretty sure it's not a staple right now
- 2:05:53Speaker 4: to a twelve year old as it once was for
- 2:05:55Speaker 4: everybody in this room, and the vast majority of people
- 2:06:00Speaker 4: listening to this and it's on its way out. I've
- 2:06:02Speaker 4: been convinced, and it has been really bumming me out.
- 2:06:05Speaker 4: I don't think it is a cornerstone of American culture anymore.
- 2:06:12Speaker 4: I am talking about movies, and I get it, you've
- 2:06:17Speaker 4: heard that take. But I am scared of what the
- 2:06:20Speaker 4: future looks like without elite storytelling and without content that's
- 2:06:26Speaker 4: more than a minute. And I am afraid of what
- 2:06:29Speaker 4: humanity looks like without the ability.
- 2:06:32Speaker 2: To sit down for two hours and listen. Can I
- 2:06:37Speaker 2: push back a little bit? Yes? Do you mind? I
- 2:06:39Speaker 2: read today the number one movie of twenty twenty five
- 2:06:42Speaker 2: according to film writers is what K Pop Demon? No, okay,
- 2:06:48Speaker 2: this is gonna be great. I'm gonna say Frankenstein. No,
- 2:06:52Speaker 2: it's that. It's that movie with DiCaprio. Oh, one battle
- 2:06:58Speaker 2: after one battle after another is the number one movie. Again,
- 2:07:01Speaker 2: I would think, very little special effects, a great story,
- 2:07:05Speaker 2: good acting, you know, relatively low five. So what I
- 2:07:09Speaker 2: see is is the choice that the consumer makes. I
- 2:07:13Speaker 2: believe there is still good filmmaking out there. It's just
- 2:07:16Speaker 2: not as prevalent as Marvel or the Puke that is
- 2:07:20Speaker 2: a CGI.
- 2:07:22Speaker 4: So that is I can use that as an example
- 2:07:25Speaker 4: from my argument, the biggest movie, dare you the biggest movie?
- 2:07:30Speaker 2: Right?
- 2:07:30Speaker 4: One battle, one battle after another. It's a movie that
- 2:07:33Speaker 4: I desperately wanted to see in theaters. And I'm not
- 2:07:36Speaker 4: using myself as an example of why the movie why.
- 2:07:40Speaker 4: I still look at that as an example of why
- 2:07:42Speaker 4: movies are shot. And I don't think they're making a comeback.
- 2:07:45Speaker 4: It's because the construction worker who got off of their
- 2:07:49Speaker 4: nine to five, I'm saying he didn't see that movie.
- 2:07:53Speaker 2: Obviously you didn't because, like you said, I think it
- 2:07:55Speaker 2: was in theaters three weeks and that's it. And it
- 2:07:57Speaker 2: didn't make any money. It's considered a flop, which is wild. Yeah,
- 2:08:01Speaker 2: and it's Zotopia two makes six hundred million dollars in
- 2:08:05Speaker 2: two days.
- 2:08:05Speaker 4: And what I guess what I'm trying to say is
- 2:08:07Speaker 4: is that dude, dude, I'm not saying that movies can't
- 2:08:09Speaker 4: make money. There will always be a number one movie
- 2:08:13Speaker 4: of the year for the rest of my life. You
- 2:08:15Speaker 4: think it's just the experience, but the times of Friday
- 2:08:19Speaker 4: nights when movies were premiering and it being a cornerstone,
- 2:08:24Speaker 4: must must do. It's an America. It's where cool kids
- 2:08:28Speaker 4: went that's right, You are right.
- 2:08:30Speaker 2: Is gone. Yeah, I don't see it coming back either.
- 2:08:34Speaker 2: That's the funny thing is is I haven't been to
- 2:08:36Speaker 2: a film a movie on a Friday or Saturday night
- 2:08:38Speaker 2: to see what the makeup of the audience is and
- 2:08:41Speaker 2: so long, I wouldn't know. But what about your kids.
- 2:08:44Speaker 2: They don't go boom neither. It's my daughter, she doesn't
- 2:08:47Speaker 2: even like what the Tuesday night five dollars thing. They'll
- 2:08:51Speaker 2: take advantage of, but if it's not on there, they
- 2:08:53Speaker 2: won't go.
- 2:08:53Speaker 4: So Tuesday night even then, So if you're talking about
- 2:08:56Speaker 4: the money, the thing is is that it was just
- 2:08:58Speaker 4: the cool thing to do was to be there on Friday,
- 2:09:02Speaker 4: and then you might flirt with a girl or you
- 2:09:04Speaker 4: might flirt with a guy and then like, it's just that,
- 2:09:08Speaker 4: I don't see it ever coming back, And there's plenty
- 2:09:10Speaker 4: of reasons why. First and foremost, you can talk about
- 2:09:14Speaker 4: it being too expensive. I can get on board with that. Sure,
- 2:09:17Speaker 4: that's a subjective thing, but I don't know what it
- 2:09:20Speaker 4: was like comparatively to the eighties or nineties with inflation
- 2:09:24Speaker 4: and all of that.
- 2:09:25Speaker 2: I don't mean if it's closer, yeah, I mean, I
- 2:09:27Speaker 2: never remember sweating a movie ticket. I never thought that
- 2:09:31Speaker 2: was almost like a guarantee. It was cheaper than bowling,
- 2:09:34Speaker 2: It was cheaper than doing anything else in a small town.
- 2:09:36Speaker 2: So you know, four or five bucks, which was nothing.
- 2:09:39Speaker 4: Here's one of the main reasons why I don't think
- 2:09:41Speaker 4: movies will ever be as popular and as part of
- 2:09:45Speaker 4: pop culture as they once were, as they have been
- 2:09:49Speaker 4: for over a century. Reminder, I know what I'm going
- 2:09:53Speaker 4: up against. People in the Great Depression still bought movie tickets.
- 2:09:56Speaker 4: That they did it, and I'm saying that that's probably
- 2:09:58Speaker 4: that type of a addiction towards storytelling is gone because
- 2:10:04Speaker 4: in the Great Depression they didn't have seventy inch TVs
- 2:10:07Speaker 4: at home, which.
- 2:10:09Speaker 6: I was the only form of escapism from the Great
- 2:10:11Speaker 6: Depression with.
- 2:10:12Speaker 2: Sound bars that make it literally like, you know, like
- 2:10:14Speaker 2: high quality sound, air condition, comfort of your home.
- 2:10:19Speaker 4: You'rethroom, you depose it, not a piss ridden bathroom. There's
- 2:10:23Speaker 4: a content creator, got his name is Jason Pargans, and uh,
- 2:10:27Speaker 4: these are one of his many thoughts that I couldn't
- 2:10:30Speaker 4: help but agree with. Do you know what's the last
- 2:10:33Speaker 4: new franchise? The last new film franchise?
- 2:10:38Speaker 2: And you never.
- 2:10:39Speaker 4: Existed before that's a great question. Minions is the answer?
- 2:10:44Speaker 2: Is it really that? That's like, that's like yours a
- 2:10:46Speaker 2: one E twelve.
- 2:10:47Speaker 4: That's the last ip character to shoot up into the
- 2:10:52Speaker 4: stratosphere of like, oh, how do you not know about
- 2:10:55Speaker 4: the Minions? Everything else you would give the grace of like, yeah,
- 2:10:58Speaker 4: you probably don't know about that. The only other one
- 2:11:01Speaker 4: is John Wick and even that is still whatever. How
- 2:11:06Speaker 4: about this is that movies?
- 2:11:07Speaker 8: Now you know?
- 2:11:09Speaker 4: The whole argument of they feel formulaic, Well put yourself
- 2:11:13Speaker 4: in the production company is that, like, this is what's
- 2:11:15Speaker 4: working and barely making money as it is. And then
- 2:11:18Speaker 4: the if you're telling me that you already know the ending,
- 2:11:21Speaker 4: we're kind of rocking a hard place.
- 2:11:23Speaker 8: Ye.
- 2:11:24Speaker 4: The I think the biggest reason why, and it's so
- 2:11:28Speaker 4: grossly underlooked. And this is what that Jason guy said
- 2:11:31Speaker 4: that I scared me to the point of like I'm
- 2:11:33Speaker 4: going to bring this up to everybody, is how massive
- 2:11:37Speaker 4: special effects were part of the business model of movies.
- 2:11:42Speaker 2: That's where you nail it.
- 2:11:43Speaker 4: That's the that's the number one reason why you would
- 2:11:47Speaker 4: to me, you'll never see movies come back the way
- 2:11:50Speaker 4: that they were, let's say, at its last peak.
- 2:11:53Speaker 2: Twenty twelve. And we're not talking about mechanical stuff like Jaws,
- 2:11:57Speaker 2: although though although very impressive. But when you got into
- 2:12:00Speaker 2: like Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Arc, when you're
- 2:12:02Speaker 2: seeing you know, stuff like that where they are practical effect. Yeah, yeah,
- 2:12:07Speaker 2: practical effects that aren't CGI, they're not electronic. Yeah, you're right.
- 2:12:11Speaker 4: The CG and the special effects of a movie was
- 2:12:14Speaker 4: one of the biggest, if not subconsciously at the very least,
- 2:12:19Speaker 4: the biggest reason why people were buying tickets because you
- 2:12:22Speaker 4: had never seen a moving dinosaur and you can by
- 2:12:26Speaker 4: a ticket, wow, to go see a moving dinosaur. Tell
- 2:12:29Speaker 4: an eight year old that right now? Yeah, yeah, it's done.
- 2:12:33Speaker 4: Like they they've seen the moving dinosaurs. Because of the
- 2:12:37Speaker 4: Internet and how innundated it is with moving images and
- 2:12:41Speaker 4: how insane by all means, props to the Internet.
- 2:12:43Speaker 2: You beat movies at its own game. And you said
- 2:12:46Speaker 2: this on the podcast. I saw it. It says, you know,
- 2:12:48Speaker 2: and it's so funny. It was John, I believe right. Yeah,
- 2:12:50Speaker 2: John reacted when you said it. You said, look, man,
- 2:12:52Speaker 2: there's no more magic, like you know, the curtain has
- 2:12:55Speaker 2: been pulled back. The secrets are out. You know, we're
- 2:12:57Speaker 2: not impressed by your disappearing card anymore. You're we know
- 2:13:00Speaker 2: where the rabbit is? You know all of those things.
- 2:13:02Speaker 4: I mean, you kind of have an idea that's how
- 2:13:05Speaker 4: it's done, and there is no magic in it. I
- 2:13:07Speaker 4: am painfully Yeah, there's a reason behind everything these days,
- 2:13:11Speaker 4: and the problem is is that you don't have to
- 2:13:14Speaker 4: do that much work to find out the reason behind it. Yeah,
- 2:13:17Speaker 4: the money, but well no in the sense of you
- 2:13:20Speaker 4: have a device that will give you the answers to
- 2:13:23Speaker 4: those questions. How did they film this when before you
- 2:13:26Speaker 4: would walk out going I guess they sacrificed a goat
- 2:13:29Speaker 4: over a volcano and then they made him dodge bullets
- 2:13:33Speaker 4: on top of the building.
- 2:13:34Speaker 7: It's one of the first things if I'm watching like
- 2:13:37Speaker 7: based on a true story, after watching it, I'm immediately
- 2:13:41Speaker 7: looking up to see.
- 2:13:42Speaker 2: All, right, where was that line? What's true?
- 2:13:44Speaker 8: And what was.
- 2:13:47Speaker 4: I think the embellishment is also a drop in the
- 2:13:50Speaker 4: bucket where people start backing away from movies because now
- 2:13:54Speaker 4: we can find out in nineteen ninety two, if you
- 2:13:57Speaker 4: aren't wrap up a movie and it says based on
- 2:13:59Speaker 4: a true story, go damn, that was verbatim.
- 2:14:02Speaker 2: They did that with Fargo.
- 2:14:03Speaker 5: They did that with Fargo, right, the Coen Brothers said
- 2:14:06Speaker 5: that it was based on a real story.
- 2:14:07Speaker 2: No, it's not not even run frame of I know.
- 2:14:11Speaker 2: That messed me up for a while. I was like,
- 2:14:13Speaker 2: that really happened?
- 2:14:14Speaker 7: And the documentary on Abraham Lake and here's the deal
- 2:14:17Speaker 7: new slash.
- 2:14:17Speaker 4: I don't think he was a vampire.
- 2:14:19Speaker 2: Hunh, you're kidding.
- 2:14:20Speaker 4: I don't think so. And I'm not saying that movies
- 2:14:23Speaker 4: can't be great in the future. I'm just saying that
- 2:14:27Speaker 4: that pillar and cornerstone of moving needles and influence that
- 2:14:32Speaker 4: movies once had when I was a child, I don't
- 2:14:36Speaker 4: know how they come back.
- 2:14:38Speaker 2: There's there.
- 2:14:39Speaker 4: You have a new player on the game that is
- 2:14:42Speaker 4: showing you real special effects in the aka the Internet.
- 2:14:46Speaker 4: MCU is kind of dead right. They haven't had a
- 2:14:48Speaker 4: movie out in a long time. When was the last
- 2:14:50Speaker 4: Marvel movie.
- 2:14:50Speaker 2: It was Fantastic four and brother it ate it.
- 2:14:53Speaker 4: They are I'm not even putting this on the superhero genre,
- 2:14:57Speaker 4: to be honest with you, but that's a whole other topic.
- 2:14:59Speaker 2: There are in deep trouble. Yeah, they have no new stories,
- 2:15:02Speaker 2: no new ideas.
- 2:15:03Speaker 4: They have plenty of movies coming out, but we all
- 2:15:06Speaker 4: saw Endgame. An Endgame was awesome. Everything will fall short
- 2:15:11Speaker 4: to the finale of an eighteen movie, fifteen year build
- 2:15:16Speaker 4: up story until you change the game and create a
- 2:15:19Speaker 4: new narrative and then go from there, which is about
- 2:15:21Speaker 4: to happen. But I don't know about you. That last
- 2:15:23Speaker 4: Spider Man film was awesome. What's gonna beat that?
- 2:15:27Speaker 2: Yeah? And where's the next Harry Potter? Like, where's the
- 2:15:30Speaker 2: next series Avatar? Of you think it's Avatar?
- 2:15:33Speaker 7: I don't know the next the third and final Avatar
- 2:15:36Speaker 7: is that's coming out soon?
- 2:15:38Speaker 5: Oh?
- 2:15:38Speaker 15: Yeah?
- 2:15:38Speaker 2: Yeah, James Cameron now being interviewed for it. But you
- 2:15:41Speaker 2: don't have that mystical fantasy thing like you had with
- 2:15:44Speaker 2: Potter and Lord of the Rings and stuff like that.
- 2:15:47Speaker 7: Well, you're saying they're going to revisit Potter, but they're
- 2:15:49Speaker 7: going to do it in series for Formula on HBO.
- 2:15:52Speaker 2: Oh are they? So they'll do like the first book
- 2:15:54Speaker 2: will be the first season? Yeah, I gotcha.
- 2:15:56Speaker 4: And that will strike up a lot of people's fancies,
- 2:15:59Speaker 4: but not the same way the first Potter film did.
- 2:16:03Speaker 4: And it's because it was a movie when movies were important.
- 2:16:09Speaker 4: Movies are not important anymore. And I am afraid of
- 2:16:13Speaker 4: that future for our species. It goes back to our
- 2:16:16Speaker 4: bonfire days when we all had hair and poor teeth
- 2:16:19Speaker 4: and we were primates.
- 2:16:21Speaker 2: Easy. I'm still having that, yeah, but that's.
- 2:16:23Speaker 4: Part of our humanity to sit around and listen to
- 2:16:28Speaker 4: stories that you can learn from. And I'm here to
- 2:16:31Speaker 4: tell you these Instagram reels, these TikTok's clips, these all of.
- 2:16:36Speaker 2: It, that they ain't teaching anything that stays. But kids
- 2:16:40Speaker 2: are still going to the movies. Dude, I'm telling you
- 2:16:42Speaker 2: these these kids movies still make tons of money. I mean,
- 2:16:44Speaker 2: this z Utopia movie was the other one that did
- 2:16:46Speaker 2: quite well earlier this summer as well, there.
- 2:16:48Speaker 6: Was a K Pop Demon Hunter.
- 2:16:49Speaker 2: Yeah, that's doing well. So, I mean in his point,
- 2:16:51Speaker 2: k Pop Demon Hunters went to a theater.
- 2:16:53Speaker 4: Once. Netflix literally sees the future, here's another quiver in
- 2:16:57Speaker 4: my arrow. Netflix has been walking up to critically acclaimed
- 2:17:00Speaker 4: directors and going, hey, what's what what's the movie Hollywood
- 2:17:04Speaker 4: just won't make for you?
- 2:17:05Speaker 2: We will? Yeah? Yeah, And they just bought Warner Brothers and.
- 2:17:08Speaker 4: They walked up to Benicio Glammeo del Toro and what,
- 2:17:12Speaker 4: what's the passion project you want to make?
- 2:17:14Speaker 2: Well?
- 2:17:15Speaker 4: Let's let's do this boom he makes Frankenstein. They walked
- 2:17:18Speaker 4: up to Scorsese and went, hey, dude, forget about the movies,
- 2:17:21Speaker 4: what do you want to make the Irishman? All Netflix
- 2:17:24Speaker 4: owned and exclusives that run in a theater for like
- 2:17:27Speaker 4: a day or two. Yeah, in selected theaters, and those
- 2:17:30Speaker 4: are the best movie directors on the planet that can
- 2:17:35Speaker 4: still move a needle, and like it's it's them and
- 2:17:39Speaker 4: like Nolan, there's I'm so let me circle this all
- 2:17:43Speaker 4: the way back to Sears. I'm sorry. I'm sorry that
- 2:17:47Speaker 4: I completely didn't respect that that was a massive part
- 2:17:53Speaker 4: of your surroundings. And I think I could argue that
- 2:17:56Speaker 4: movies are a bigger thing than Sears. But it is
- 2:18:00Speaker 4: just really a bummer seeing something change underneath your feet,
- 2:18:05Speaker 4: just due to time changing.
- 2:18:07Speaker 2: Yeah, and buddy, look that their Sears is just one
- 2:18:10Speaker 2: of those entities that has moved that way. I mean
- 2:18:13Speaker 2: there's so many. I mean, I mean just the idea
- 2:18:16Speaker 2: of the mall, the mall, Yeah, just the idea of malls.
- 2:18:18Speaker 2: I mean, you really want to take it back. You
- 2:18:20Speaker 2: can have me series as part of that, but the
- 2:18:21Speaker 2: idea of a mall for people our age was like Magniposen.
- 2:18:25Speaker 2: That's I mean, it's you.
- 2:18:26Speaker 1: You.
- 2:18:26Speaker 4: You didn't have to shop or spend the time. That's
- 2:18:29Speaker 4: just where you went to chill. And now when I mean,
- 2:18:30Speaker 4: that's just it was.
- 2:18:31Speaker 2: You know, I walked through the Fashion Square mall and dude,
- 2:18:33Speaker 2: it is a It is a major flashback. Like every
- 2:18:37Speaker 2: foot I every step I take, it's a major flashback.
- 2:18:39Speaker 2: And to bring a ten year old to a mall
- 2:18:41Speaker 2: you know what? They call it live Amazon Yeah, yeah,
- 2:18:44Speaker 2: and they don't even know, but it is just it
- 2:18:48Speaker 2: is so odd. It is such a treat.
- 2:18:51Speaker 4: It is such a blessing and a privilege and a
- 2:18:55Speaker 4: curse to get older and to see the things that
- 2:18:59Speaker 4: have made such an impact on you slowly struggle.
- 2:19:03Speaker 2: And there's nothing that I can do. There's help it,
- 2:19:06Speaker 2: there's nothing, nothing at all.
- 2:19:08Speaker 4: So enjoy your weekend. Those are you Eras's thoughts, brought
- 2:19:13Speaker 4: to you by me. Please movies stick around. I truly
- 2:19:16Speaker 4: believe we as humans need stories. Yeah we do, buddy,
- 2:19:21Speaker 4: those are your ross thoughts. I'm out peace all right?
- 2:19:23Speaker 2: For seven nine six four one text us seven seven

- 2:19:31Speaker 5: Lake County is getting some money back. And when you
- 2:19:34Speaker 5: make it so easy for the police. We'll talk about
- 2:19:37Speaker 5: that next during you heard it here first, h R
- 2:19:39Speaker 5: say litt.
- 2:19:39Speaker 2: Ray will come back and get Deb's news and get
- 2:19:40Speaker 2: the hell out of here on our Friday.
- 2:19:45Speaker 18: Hello Jim Cobert Show. Hello, it's doctor ev Ooray. The
- 2:19:51Speaker 18: news is out. Yes, I created what I call a
- 2:19:56Speaker 18: laiser an attempted to drop an aeroplane out of the sky.
- 2:20:03Speaker 2: Deborah. Yes, you broadcast my secret.
- 2:20:08Speaker 18: I should be watching you.
- 2:20:16Speaker 2: Not awful, I mean it wasn't awful. Good job, all
- 2:20:24Speaker 2: right for a seven nine four one textus seven seven
- 2:20:26Speaker 2: zero three one. I'm Jim, deb Jack and Ross are
- 2:20:28Speaker 2: here as well.
- 2:20:29Speaker 4: I hope I'm not awful. Yeah. Sliding down to Mount
- 2:20:34Speaker 4: Dora this evening for the is it Christmas walk?
- 2:20:37Speaker 2: Yep? Yeah, the Christmas Walk.
- 2:20:38Speaker 6: This evening Christmas walks?
- 2:20:39Speaker 4: No not now right?
- 2:20:40Speaker 6: Yeah, now until nine o'clock, nine o'clock.
- 2:20:42Speaker 2: Again home, I'm gonna grab the wife. We're gonna go
- 2:20:44Speaker 2: down to downtown Mount Door, get ourselves in the Christmas spirit,
- 2:20:47Speaker 2: try to get hammered out there. Make a fool of myself,
- 2:20:49Speaker 2: get some publicity for the show.
- 2:20:51Speaker 6: I will see you out there.
- 2:20:52Speaker 2: Okay, you want to get hammered with me and.
- 2:20:55Speaker 5: I'm working my mom's booth. But after that that's a
- 2:20:58Speaker 5: big yes, yeah, because after that I got to break
- 2:21:01Speaker 5: it down.
- 2:21:02Speaker 2: So yeah, all right, you Rob started a gift wrapping business. Yep,
- 2:21:06Speaker 2: wrap to impress. That's super cool. Yeah.
- 2:21:08Speaker 5: You know it's one of those services when you talk
- 2:21:10Speaker 5: about things that you used to.
- 2:21:11Speaker 6: Be able to have done at the mall.
- 2:21:13Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true.
- 2:21:13Speaker 5: It was ubiquitous around the holidays. You'd walk through the
- 2:21:16Speaker 5: mall in the church or boy Scouts would have one
- 2:21:19Speaker 5: of those stands in the middle of the mall where
- 2:21:21Speaker 5: they would wrap your gifts for a donation.
- 2:21:23Speaker 6: And you know some stores still do it, like Macy's,
- 2:21:26Speaker 6: but you know.
- 2:21:27Speaker 2: Yeah, Macy's does. Actually in that upper section of Macy's
- 2:21:30Speaker 2: where the houseware is, if you go up there, this
- 2:21:32Speaker 2: is the Altima mall if I remember it correctly, and
- 2:21:34Speaker 2: you go to that back area and they would have
- 2:21:36Speaker 2: an entire table set up there and you'd walk in
- 2:21:39Speaker 2: just like you said, there'd be some church volunteers or
- 2:21:41Speaker 2: volunteers from some organization trying to raise some money and
- 2:21:44Speaker 2: they charge you like a couple bucks worth small one
- 2:21:46Speaker 2: and you know, four or five dollars for a big one.
- 2:21:48Speaker 2: And that was it was easy.
- 2:21:49Speaker 7: So where's your mom set up? Because where people have
- 2:21:53Speaker 7: gifts that they need wrapped.
- 2:21:55Speaker 5: Well, she's she's not allowed to sell any services or
- 2:21:58Speaker 5: anything tonight. So tonight is just basically an introduction. So
- 2:22:01Speaker 5: if you live in the Mount Door area and gift
- 2:22:03Speaker 5: wrapping isn't your jam, but you really want your gifts
- 2:22:06Speaker 5: to have that extra in a little panache.
- 2:22:08Speaker 7: Last time I brought my gifts somewhere to be wrapped
- 2:22:11Speaker 7: by someone, it was at Rachel's.
- 2:22:14Speaker 4: At Rachel's Ye, the strip club. Yes, that's a good deal,
- 2:22:19Speaker 4: that's that's awesome. Yeah, that was a radio promotion, was real.
- 2:22:23Speaker 4: I do not remember that the we that my kids
- 2:22:26Speaker 4: got that year by a stripper? Really yeah wow, you
- 2:22:30Speaker 4: said we right? Yeah, all right, very good.
- 2:22:33Speaker 2: We can do that as a charity thing, as if
- 2:22:35Speaker 2: show could we know, I mean, that would be the
- 2:22:37Speaker 2: worst thing ever. We would wrap gifts for listeners for
- 2:22:39Speaker 2: a charity of some sort. Possibly. I thought you were like, yeah,
- 2:22:42Speaker 2: scantily clothed us you guys like wrapping presents. I love it.
- 2:22:47Speaker 2: I've turned a corner on it. Yeah. My wife loves
- 2:22:50Speaker 2: it or she's really good at it. Doesn't like it,
- 2:22:53Speaker 2: but she is the gift wrapper because everything she wraps
- 2:22:56Speaker 2: like it's like in a soap opera. I mean they
- 2:22:57Speaker 2: are perfect.
- 2:22:59Speaker 6: That's how my mom.
- 2:23:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean absolutely perfect, all the ribbons and all
- 2:23:03Speaker 2: the the all that stuff. She just knows how to
- 2:23:05Speaker 2: do it. Make it look amazing. I can, but I
- 2:23:08Speaker 2: just shoot for.
- 2:23:09Speaker 6: A bee, all right, right, what is expectations?
- 2:23:14Speaker 2: I turn it into a thing. Like you know, if
- 2:23:15Speaker 2: you get all your gifts out there, you clear out
- 2:23:17Speaker 2: all the couches and stuff, you get yourself a glass
- 2:23:19Speaker 2: of wine or a cocktail, whatever you're drinking. Then just
- 2:23:21Speaker 2: take your time, listen to some music and do it.
- 2:23:23Speaker 7: And then it's like, oh, you want to add ribbon
- 2:23:25Speaker 7: to it? You know, well, there goes the bee, and
- 2:23:29Speaker 7: then then you want to yeah right now I'm a
- 2:23:32Speaker 7: B plus Yeah, And then you know you take the
- 2:23:34Speaker 7: edge of the blade and then you you pull back
- 2:23:36Speaker 7: on the ribbon and get.
- 2:23:37Speaker 2: All curly cues. Yeah, do you put are you a bow?
- 2:23:40Speaker 2: Are you a stick on bow? Person? Actually?
- 2:23:42Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 2:23:43Speaker 7: Yeah, matter of fact, the zeld the gift you got
- 2:23:45Speaker 7: uh yesterday, stick on bow, dude.
- 2:23:48Speaker 2: My wife can tie those things and it looks like
- 2:23:50Speaker 2: they came from the factory. It is nauseating how good
- 2:23:53Speaker 2: she is at it, really is. I mean it's so good.
- 2:23:56Speaker 2: But the real fast step you said you weren't who
- 2:23:58Speaker 2: wrapped Jim's gift my mom? Oh okay, oh yeah with
- 2:24:01Speaker 2: the double lines of ribbon that cross. I was about
- 2:24:04Speaker 2: to defend you. If you're like, if you wrap that,
- 2:24:06Speaker 2: you're a perfect at it.
- 2:24:07Speaker 6: That was my mom doing that.
- 2:24:09Speaker 2: Yeah, you should be good at this. You're very artistic.
- 2:24:11Speaker 5: I'm just not though the patients is well, not the patients.
- 2:24:14Speaker 5: It's just like you said, to wrap a bow like
- 2:24:16Speaker 5: a wired bow. Yeah, it's the kind of wrapping that
- 2:24:19Speaker 5: you're like, I don't want to open it because I
- 2:24:21Speaker 5: have to ruin what you the envelope rapping, And.
- 2:24:25Speaker 2: I wrapped all my gifts one year in newspaper. That's cool.
- 2:24:28Speaker 5: I have a best friend who will wait while you
- 2:24:30Speaker 5: unwrap your gifts, and while you're unwrapping and throwing the
- 2:24:33Speaker 5: paper to the side, he'll grab that paper and then
- 2:24:35Speaker 5: wrap your gift in it.
- 2:24:38Speaker 2: Hey, Robert, how you doing.
- 2:24:39Speaker 4: I stood up to my wife over her wrapping paper
- 2:24:41Speaker 4: a couple of years ago. It was just like this,
- 2:24:43Speaker 4: like ups brown.
- 2:24:45Speaker 2: I was like, what's up with this? And someone like
- 2:24:49Speaker 2: her brother.
- 2:24:50Speaker 4: Sister law was like, yeah, there's no die And I
- 2:24:52Speaker 4: was like, now there's a lot of dying happening inside
- 2:24:55Speaker 4: of me right now.
- 2:24:56Speaker 2: What happened to the print?
- 2:24:58Speaker 7: But I mean Jim using the newspaper that that's a
- 2:25:03Speaker 7: pretty you know, liberal earth echo friendly choices.
- 2:25:07Speaker 2: Don't let that get out. Yeah, but it was all
- 2:25:08Speaker 2: like sad days in the news. Yeah. Actually, every every
- 2:25:12Speaker 2: gift where the name was, it was the death notice.
- 2:25:14Speaker 2: It it was all the obituaries right up front. It's
- 2:25:20Speaker 2: beginning to look a lot like, oh, they're not here anymore. Yeah,
- 2:25:24Speaker 2: all right, seven survived by exactly seven seven zero three
- 2:25:28Speaker 2: one to text us deb let's do you heard it
- 2:25:30Speaker 2: here first?
- 2:25:31Speaker 3: Good time for you heard it here first? On the
- 2:25:35Speaker 3: Jim Colbert Show.
- 2:25:36Speaker 5: Well, a custody hearing in Bravard County this morning is
- 2:25:38Speaker 5: shedding new light on the investigation into the death of
- 2:25:41Speaker 5: eighteen year old Anna Kepner on a cruise ship last month.
- 2:25:44Speaker 5: A lawyer for Kepner's stepmother Sean Tell Kepner provided an
- 2:25:48Speaker 5: update on the sixteen year old step brother suspected in
- 2:25:51Speaker 5: her death.
- 2:25:52Speaker 4: At this point, we're not sure.
- 2:25:54Speaker 9: We're not sure what the FBI is going to do,
- 2:25:56Speaker 9: whether he's going to be charged better relief, or whether
- 2:25:59Speaker 9: they're going to turn over to the state.
- 2:26:01Speaker 6: My client is waiting to.
- 2:26:03Speaker 5: Hear on that the judge rejected a motion by the
- 2:26:05Speaker 5: suspect's biological father to award him custody of a nine
- 2:26:09Speaker 5: year old girl who's the sister of the suspect. Documents
- 2:26:13Speaker 5: for the hearing reveal that Anna Keepner was found asphyxiated
- 2:26:16Speaker 5: under the bed on the cruise. The suspect is staying
- 2:26:18Speaker 5: with one of his mother's relatives. In fact, the father
- 2:26:21Speaker 5: of the boy said he didn't even give his permission
- 2:26:24Speaker 5: and was kind of holding up even getting passports to
- 2:26:26Speaker 5: take the trip. And as you said, Jimmy at the
- 2:26:28Speaker 5: beginning of the show, this is just you need.
- 2:26:31Speaker 2: You need a scorecard.
- 2:26:32Speaker 5: You need a scorecard and red string to connect all
- 2:26:35Speaker 5: the dots.
- 2:26:37Speaker 2: It is like it is like putting a murder together.
- 2:26:39Speaker 8: It really is.
- 2:26:40Speaker 5: Someone called Charlie day So Kroger signed a termination agreement
- 2:26:44Speaker 5: with Lake County today, which will require the company to
- 2:26:47Speaker 5: reimburse the county more than four hundred thousand dollars by
- 2:26:50Speaker 5: the end of the year. The agreement follows Kroger's announcement
- 2:26:53Speaker 5: in November that it's going to close three of its
- 2:26:55Speaker 5: distribution centers, including the one in Groveland, which will result
- 2:26:59Speaker 5: in the elimination of a about fourteen hundred jobs. The
- 2:27:02Speaker 5: county will decide how to disperse the funds later. And
- 2:27:05Speaker 5: still in Lake County, police in Mount Dora say, don't worry.
- 2:27:09Speaker 5: They didn't have any problem tracking down a man accused
- 2:27:12Speaker 5: of stealing a traffic camera.
- 2:27:15Speaker 2: You know why, it was still recording. The camera was
- 2:27:19Speaker 2: working at the time and recorded the whole thing.
- 2:27:22Speaker 4: Hyde not like when mister Bean commits crimes.
- 2:27:25Speaker 5: More, the device also had a GPS tracker, which led
- 2:27:29Speaker 5: officers directly to the man's out lord. They said they
- 2:27:32Speaker 5: found the camera inside and arrested him. Now, how much
- 2:27:35Speaker 5: do you think that camera was worth.
- 2:27:37Speaker 4: Twenty I'm going to say probably eight hundred dollars, but
- 2:27:42Speaker 4: they're gonna say ten grand. I'll go four grand.
- 2:27:45Speaker 6: How about thirteen thousand dollars?
- 2:27:47Speaker 2: It's one of those.
- 2:27:48Speaker 5: It was part of an intersection reading license plates.
- 2:27:52Speaker 2: Oh wow, Yeah, it's photography. It's going to cost more
- 2:27:56Speaker 2: way different. And you heard it here first.
- 2:27:58Speaker 6: I'm the Jim Colbert Chew.
- 2:28:00Speaker 2: I appreciate that very much. The one other thing that
- 2:28:02Speaker 2: was going to talk about today we didn't get to
- 2:28:04Speaker 2: it is the other Florida criminal. I forget what he did.
- 2:28:07Speaker 2: But the funniest thing is, let's just give you a
- 2:28:09Speaker 2: little public service announcement from your man Jim here. Really,
- 2:28:11Speaker 2: if you go to anywhere party person's house and you've
