  here. Last time, we saw how King David grew older

  and prepared Israel for the future. We learned

  that David didn't hold on to power. Instead,

  he trusted God and helped the next king get ready

  to lead. Today, we meet that new king. His name

  is Solomon. Solomon is about to learn something

  very important. Not just about being king, but

  about what God cares about in a leader. Are you

  David died, Solomon became king of Israel. This

  was a joyful moment, but it was also a serious

  one. Israel was a large nation. The people needed

  And Solomon knew that being king was not just

  about wearing a crown or sitting on a throne.

  He hadn't asked for wealth. victory or long life.

  He had asked for wisdom. God decided to give

  Solomon wisdom. Greater wisdom than any king

  before him or after him. He also gave Solomon

  what he had not asked for. Wealth and honor.

  He promised Solomon long life if Solomon walked

  in obedience and kept God's commands. When Solomon

  woke up, He knew God had heard him. Soon the

  people of Israel began to see Solomon's wisdom

  in the way he ruled. He listened carefully. He

  judged fairly. He made choices that helped the

  people feel safe and cared for. Solomon's wisdom

  showed everyone that a good leader listens to

  God first. What a great story. Solomon could

  have asked for many things, but he chose wisdom.
