Matson has finally come home — his remains identified and returned to his West Virginia hometown, where his family, including his 82-year-old great-aunt, celebrated with tears and pride. A volunteer with Merrill’s Marauders, Matson died in the Battle of Myitkyina in 1944 — just days before his aunt was born.
