- 0:00Speaker 1: Live from the Raising Cane Studio, here's Jacob Hester and
- 0:04Speaker 1: Matt Flynn.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Welcome in OTV here on this Monday morning.
- 0:51Speaker 3: Sorry about that quiet howl, guys. All good.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Jake, Flynn, Alondra, Tay-Tay, Tazit here with us as well.
- 1:00Speaker 3: In the house. We got a packed house. Packed studio.
- 1:06Speaker 3: A lot to get to. Intern. Free intern. Unpaid intern.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Very unpaid.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Go ahead and get that out there.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Else you play football this weekend?
- 1:20Speaker 4: They're saying that they did.
- 1:21Speaker 3: It's kind of weak. That was fun.
- 1:27Speaker 4: It was fun until like We were up by 41 points.
- 1:31Speaker 2: It was still fun. It never was not fun. It
- 1:35Speaker 2: never was not fun.
- 1:38Speaker 3: That... Well... That's what you paid for right there. My God.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Did I steal it from you? Did I take that
- 1:47Speaker 3: line from you? That's good.
- 1:49Speaker 5: We're on the same page right now. We're in sync
- 1:53Speaker 5: like the LSU offense.
- 1:55Speaker 2: That was such a butt whooping that It's hard to
- 1:58Speaker 2: even put it into words. Watching it live was just incredible. But, like,
- 2:07Speaker 2: to go back and to watch it afterwards, I think
- 2:10Speaker 2: they kicked their butts even worse when I went back
- 2:12Speaker 2: and watched it on film.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Right.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Like, when you watch it live, you know, maybe a
- 2:18Speaker 2: guy missed a block. Maybe a guy fell down. Maybe,
- 2:21Speaker 2: you know, whatever. But you're still excited about it. And
- 2:23Speaker 2: you can kind of, you know, sometimes you can tell
- 2:25Speaker 2: a little bit here, a little bit there. I said
- 2:28Speaker 2: it on the broadcast like 15 times. I was like, Chris,
- 2:30Speaker 2: the team speed difference here, I can feel it in
- 2:34Speaker 2: real time.
- 2:35Speaker 3: I don't need to go back and watch the tape.
- 2:37Speaker 2: From the very, very beginning, from the very start of
- 2:41Speaker 2: the game, I was like, LSU looks like they are
- 2:44Speaker 2: two times faster than Clemson right now.
- 2:46Speaker 3: And that was the thing that just kept standing out
- 2:48Speaker 3: to me, standing out to me.
- 2:49Speaker 2: So watching it live, that was my biggest point of
- 2:52Speaker 2: emphasis was just the difference in team speed.
- 2:55Speaker 3: But going back and watching it again, Matt, they.
- 2:59Speaker 2: It's hard to dominate a team like LSU did Clemson.
- 3:03Speaker 5: It was complete and utter domination from as soon as
- 3:08Speaker 5: that boot met that ball until the clock hit zero.
- 3:13Speaker 5: It was complete domination. You talk about the team speed.
- 3:17Speaker 5: And I don't know. You line both these teams up.
- 3:18Speaker 5: I don't know how they compare when you compare 40
- 3:21Speaker 5: times on a clock. But when you compare how fast
- 3:25Speaker 5: they were on a football field, it wasn't even close.
- 3:28Speaker 5: And now you can say that's anything. You could say
- 3:31Speaker 5: they had more energy. They played together more. They knew
- 3:34Speaker 5: what they were doing a little bit better. They were
- 3:36Speaker 5: in better shape. I don't care what it was. But
- 3:39Speaker 5: they were in, like, sixth gear. And Clemson looked like
- 3:43Speaker 5: they were in fourth gear. And that is not a
- 3:48Speaker 5: knock against Clemson. That is a credit to LSU in
- 3:51Speaker 5: the way in which they played. They were ready for
- 3:53Speaker 5: the game. They were excited. You could feel that they
- 3:56Speaker 5: were feasting on the energy in Tiger Stadium. Certainly tired
- 4:03Speaker 5: of a lot of talk and a lot of noise
- 4:05Speaker 5: outside of the building.
- 4:05Speaker 3: And my God, did they go and play? Did they
- 4:07Speaker 3: execute well? And you're right.
- 4:09Speaker 5: You watch that game live and you're just excited. I mean,
- 4:13Speaker 5: we're watching it. You're watching it as a commentator, but
- 4:17Speaker 5: also a fan. And things are happening fast. The game's
- 4:20Speaker 5: moving fast. I'm watching it as a fan on television.
- 4:25Speaker 5: And I'm just watching us kick their butt the entire time, right?
- 4:30Speaker 5: And I'm trying to look at the X's and O's
- 4:33Speaker 5: a little bit while I'm watching, but I'm also cheering
- 4:35Speaker 5: and excited and running around the house and high-fiving everybody.
- 4:39Speaker 5: But then you go back to the film and you
- 4:42Speaker 5: watch it. And I hadn't watched the entire thing. I
- 4:44Speaker 5: watched the first quarter and a half. But that's pretty
- 4:47Speaker 5: much all you really need to see to kind of
- 4:49Speaker 5: get the vibe and see.
- 4:52Speaker 3: You saw a extremely....
- 4:55Speaker 5: Incredibly well-coached football team. There are a lot of similarities.
- 5:01Speaker 5: There's a couple of similarities on the offensive line from
- 5:04Speaker 5: last year.
- 5:06Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, not a lot, but it's mostly new.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Center right tackle. Center right tackle. Yeah.
- 5:11Speaker 5: The center right tackle didn't play anywhere near to what
- 5:18Speaker 5: they played this past week against Clemson. The entire offensive line,
- 5:24Speaker 5: so we, like, last year was so frustrating, beating our
- 5:28Speaker 5: head against the wall, like, watching the offense. They couldn't
- 5:30Speaker 5: pass off, like, a tackle in game. They couldn't pass
- 5:35Speaker 5: off one. Well, guess what they did the first play
- 5:37Speaker 5: of the game? They passed it off, and it was, like, beautiful.
- 5:41Speaker 5: It was beautiful. The entire game, the offensive line, I
- 5:45Speaker 5: was impressed with everything.
- 5:46Speaker 3: I was impressed with Sam. I was impressed with the receivers. Oh,
- 5:48Speaker 3: my God, I was impressed with Dylan.
- 5:50Speaker 5: But I came away extremely excited about the offensive line.
- 5:55Speaker 3: My God.
- 5:57Speaker 5: Y'all know that I don't think things are much sexier
- 5:59Speaker 5: than a good pass protection and sorting a bunch of
- 6:02Speaker 5: crap out that the defense is going to throw to you.
- 6:05Speaker 5: And they did it. And I was excited. So that
- 6:07Speaker 5: tells me right there. So the energy in which they played,
- 6:10Speaker 5: but the offensive line, how well they played and in
- 6:13Speaker 5: sync and how well coached they were, that tells me.
- 6:18Speaker 5: But this isn't just like, man, they just came out
- 6:20Speaker 5: and they out-energized them. They were more ready for it.
- 6:23Speaker 5: That tells me they are well-coached and they are good. And, like,
- 6:26Speaker 5: the team as a whole is set up for success
- 6:30Speaker 5: the entire season just because I was watching how good
- 6:34Speaker 5: that offensive line was sorting things out. I know the
- 6:36Speaker 5: attention to detail that this offensive coaching staff has provided them.
- 6:40Speaker 5: I know that they've provided them with the technique, and
- 6:44Speaker 5: they have the skill, but they've provided them with the technique,
- 6:47Speaker 5: And how to do it.
- 6:48Speaker 3: There was a strain, too, from that offensive line that
- 6:51Speaker 3: we didn't really see a year ago. There was a strain.
- 6:53Speaker 3: There was a confidence. There was a swagger to them.
- 6:57Speaker 5: You can tell. It's hard for offensive linemen to have swagger, okay? Like,
- 7:00Speaker 5: it just is what it is. It's a nasty position.
- 7:04Speaker 5: It's a dirty position. It's a rough and tough position.
- 7:07Speaker 5: But they did it. And you can tell by the
- 7:11Speaker 5: speed in which they pass things off. So first play
- 7:15Speaker 5: of the game, the defensive end comes up two steps
- 7:17Speaker 5: and then loops back around.
- 7:19Speaker 3: Jordan Seaton, my God, what a performance. What an opening
- 7:24Speaker 3: statement for him at LSU. He sees it, boom.
- 7:27Speaker 2: He gives a little elbow pressure, shoulder pressure to his
- 7:32Speaker 2: left guard that tells him, hey, I'm passing it off
- 7:35Speaker 2: to you.
- 7:35Speaker 3: And they just passed it all off. They just passed
- 7:38Speaker 3: it all off. It was beautiful. I saw that first play,
- 7:41Speaker 3: and I was like, my God, I.
- 7:42Speaker 5: Can already tell you Jordan Seaton is a man-child. I
- 7:45Speaker 5: can already tell you he's got football IQ. So that
- 7:50Speaker 5: was the thing I was most excited about leaving, because
- 7:53Speaker 5: it was so bad last year. I can tell that
- 7:57Speaker 5: they are so well-coached this year, and they were so
- 7:59Speaker 5: poorly coached in the past. And then we can stop
- 8:02Speaker 5: talking about that, the past. We can talk about how
- 8:05Speaker 5: awesome it is now.
- 8:06Speaker 3: That's right. That's right.
- 8:07Speaker 2: I mean... And we'll cover every angle of it today.
- 8:12Speaker 2: But even going back in some of the bigger offensive
- 8:15Speaker 2: moments that you had in the past, a lot of
- 8:18Speaker 2: it was some incredible individual effort. This was a complete
- 8:23Speaker 2: team effort on both sides of the football. And that's
- 8:27Speaker 2: how you get to some of these stat lines. Typically,
- 8:29Speaker 2: I don't bring the stat sheet in here, but I
- 8:31Speaker 2: got it.
- 8:31Speaker 3: After the game. I'm doing the post game. You talk stats, right?
- 8:34Speaker 2: And I'm like, I'm bringing the sheet. to talk about
- 8:37Speaker 2: on Monday morning on OTB. By the way, the game
- 8:41Speaker 2: got so out of hand, I told you all this,
- 8:43Speaker 2: I started throwing OTB-isms into the broadcast.
- 8:46Speaker 3: I was like, let me see how many I can get.
- 8:48Speaker 3: I probably did. I definitely threw.
- 8:50Speaker 2: A capital city in there. And, like, I'm chuckling over there.
- 8:53Speaker 2: You threw a capital city?
- 8:55Speaker 3: I threw a capital city in there.
- 8:57Speaker 4: How many times did you say boot meets ball?
- 8:59Speaker 3: Oh, at least seven. Methinks, who saw on Longstreet? We'll
- 9:02Speaker 3: run it here. Also, he's going to line up at
- 9:05Speaker 3: punt returner. We'll get to that as well. Saw that. Yeah. Yeah.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Everybody's like, was that? I was like, yeah, that's number eight.
- 9:13Speaker 3: That was him.
- 9:13Speaker 2: That was him out there. A couple things that just,
- 9:17Speaker 2: it's almost ludicrous. Like, it's like you're playing NCAA, the
- 9:20Speaker 2: video game. First downs. LSU set a school record 38.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Clemson had eight. And most of those came on their
- 9:29Speaker 2: last drive. Rushing yards. LSU ran the football. 58 times
- 9:34Speaker 2: for 309 yards.
- 9:37Speaker 3: Clemson ran it 26 times for 40 yards.
- 9:41Speaker 6: Total offensive plays, 48 total. 48 total for Clemson. I
- 9:47Speaker 6: think LSU had 47 in Clemson's territory, and they ran
- 9:52Speaker 6: 94 plays overall to Clemson's 48.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Time of possession, 36.
- 10:00Speaker 2: For LSU, 23-51 for Clemson. Third down conversions, 11-16 for LSU,
- 10:06Speaker 2: 1-13 for Clemson. I mean, we could, I mean, honestly,
- 10:12Speaker 2: you could just continue going on down the stat sheet,
- 10:15Speaker 2: and every one of them seems more ludicrous than the
- 10:18Speaker 2: one before. 5.22 yards per rush is pretty decent.
- 10:20Speaker 3: That's okay. If you're into that. If you're into that
- 10:23Speaker 3: sort of.
- 10:24Speaker 5: Thing, I guess. I'm trying to think of, you know.
- 10:31Speaker 5: I mean, like, what was the longest run of the day?
- 10:33Speaker 5: I'm trying to say, like, well, if you take that
- 10:35Speaker 5: one away, then it's.
- 10:38Speaker 3: God, you can't do that because that person ran that,
- 10:42Speaker 3: and you don't fall down. It truly did that.
- 10:45Speaker 2: If I hear somebody say that today, I'll punch them
- 10:47Speaker 2: right in the face. Dylan Jones, 15 yards was his long.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Sam Leavitt, 18 yards. Stacey Gage, 12 yards. Landon Clark,
- 10:54Speaker 2: 8 yards.
- 10:55Speaker 5: It wasn't like a huge point. We're 5.22 yards per carry. Now,
- 11:02Speaker 5: it does help scrambles, certainly. Scrambles certainly help that number.
- 11:06Speaker 5: Sam Leavitt with 113 total yards rushing. I need to
- 11:09Speaker 5: go ahead and just get this over with. I knew
- 11:11Speaker 5: he was athletic. I didn't know he was that. I
- 11:14Speaker 5: didn't know he was that twitchy.
- 11:15Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't think anybody did.
- 11:17Speaker 6: No.
- 11:18Speaker 3: I don't know how much caffeine he had.
- 11:21Speaker 4: They put him like a new foot.
- 11:23Speaker 2: I saw somebody say this on Twitter, and gosh, I
- 11:28Speaker 2: promise you I'll search to make sure I accredit it.
- 11:31Speaker 2: They said he's like a squirrel who got into the
- 11:36Speaker 2: medicine cabinet.
- 11:37Speaker 3: Yeah. And just took everything. It's a squirrel in Adderall.
- 11:41Speaker 7: Like, straight line speed I knew he had, but there's
- 11:44Speaker 7: a play, it's like early third quarter, runs up the middle,
- 11:47Speaker 7: stops on a dime, runs to the left.
- 11:49Speaker 3: Like, I mean, it's just, nobody could touch it. Like,
- 11:51Speaker 3: certainly not smooth.
- 11:53Speaker 8: Right I mean it doesn't look like I was I
- 11:56Speaker 8: was watching him run I was like my god I
- 11:58Speaker 8: was like Sam Leavitt looks like he's got the zoomies
- 12:00Speaker 8: out there yeah like and he's always leaning forward like
- 12:03Speaker 8: he like I was sitting there and Lacey's like every
- 12:06Speaker 8: time like he falls he falls forward for like three
- 12:09Speaker 8: or four yards he's always moving forward it certainly wasn't
- 12:12Speaker 8: smooth but I think that kind of helps I think
- 12:14Speaker 8: it kind of helps like it's kind of hard to
- 12:16Speaker 8: get a good hit on him it's hard to get
- 12:18Speaker 8: good angle on him, and he's moving so quickly.
- 12:20Speaker 5: He's gaining so much ground. He's leaning forward the entire time.
- 12:24Speaker 5: And I was just like, and then he kind of
- 12:26Speaker 5: does that. He's got a little hitch in his get-along
- 12:27Speaker 5: a little bit, and he's like. And I'm like, my God,
- 12:30Speaker 5: this kid looks like he's got the zoomies up.
- 12:32Speaker 7: Think about his second rushing touchdown. He has his back
- 12:34Speaker 7: to the goal line, and he falls back. Sticks the
- 12:37Speaker 7: ball out of him.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Two different times, Clemson fully expected him to just run
- 12:41Speaker 2: out of bounds. And then when he didn't, he put
- 12:43Speaker 2: his foot in the ground and went north-south, and it
- 12:45Speaker 2: kind of surprised him.
- 12:47Speaker 3: So the defender in.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Front of him both times kind of just, like, stood
- 12:51Speaker 2: there and got frozen a little bit because they just
- 12:53Speaker 2: fully expected him to kind of give up on the play.
- 12:55Speaker 3: And so there's an aggressive nature, too.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Now, as the season goes along, you've got to pick
- 13:00Speaker 2: and choose whenever you take some of those chances. Right.
- 13:03Speaker 3: Maybe to take a big hit.
- 13:04Speaker 4: Not against Louisiana Tech.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Yeah, right. Yeah, yeah.
- 13:06Speaker 5: We don't need that. I don't need Sam to have
- 13:08Speaker 5: 113 this week. Just don't need it.
- 13:11Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 13:12Speaker 4: They're going to smash Ole Miss.
- 13:14Speaker 3: There you go.
- 13:15Speaker 5: I mean, if– The team that us, okay, so that's
- 13:20Speaker 5: going to be the hard part of this week.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Yeah. In the next couple of weeks.
- 13:24Speaker 5: I'm sorry, the next couple of days is trying to,
- 13:26Speaker 5: you know, go through the film, certainly share what we
- 13:30Speaker 5: learned through the film with you, the listener, but try
- 13:35Speaker 5: to decipher just how good, based on one game, you
- 13:40Speaker 5: can't do it off one game, but you can pick
- 13:42Speaker 5: and choose little things. Like I talked about the offensive
- 13:44Speaker 5: line execution. You can see things that are going to
- 13:48Speaker 5: make a good team for an entire year.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Now there's, there's games people have where you get lucky. No,
- 13:54Speaker 3: I'm not lucky. You make your own luck. Right.
- 13:56Speaker 5: I hate the word lucky when it comes to sports,
- 13:58Speaker 5: but like you make your own luck, but like somebody
- 14:00Speaker 5: gets right. A lot of luck, a cornerback like falls down.
- 14:03Speaker 3: You hit like. Yeah.
- 14:04Speaker 5: But we're, we're going to share as much as we
- 14:06Speaker 5: can with you from the film, but the hard part
- 14:08Speaker 5: is going to be to decipher how good is LSU
- 14:11Speaker 5: based on his performance or how bad is Clemson?
- 14:14Speaker 4: I think it's both.
- 14:15Speaker 3: Oh, it's definitely a combination of both. I saw a
- 14:17Speaker 3: lot of loads.
- 14:18Speaker 4: Clemson is bad.
- 14:18Speaker 3: I saw a lot of loads from Clemson.
- 14:20Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 14:21Speaker 2: And if it, honestly, like if the score would, would
- 14:24Speaker 2: have been, I don't know, 35, 14, I'd be like,
- 14:28Speaker 2: it's definitely cause it is, it is a combination of both. Um,
- 14:32Speaker 2: But the way that LSU handled Clemson, I kept saying this, too,
- 14:36Speaker 2: on Saturday night. Clemson is not where Clemson was years ago.
- 14:40Speaker 3: I get that.
- 14:41Speaker 2: But what you're doing on this field would have been
- 14:44Speaker 2: impressive against directional school U, against an FCS team.
- 14:48Speaker 3: It does not matter.
- 14:49Speaker 2: I said, but the fact that you're doing this against Clemson,
- 14:52Speaker 2: I know they're not where they were. It's still Clemson.
- 14:55Speaker 2: It's still Davo Sweeney. It's still Tom Allen. being your
- 15:00Speaker 2: defense coordinator, it's Chad Morris being your OC, and Chad
- 15:03Speaker 2: Morris is, we'll talk about that in some of the
- 15:05Speaker 2: plays he ran from 2012. Rich Passacci is a special
- 15:08Speaker 2: teams coordinator. They've got coaches. So I'm with you. It
- 15:14Speaker 2: is a combination of both, no doubt about it, but
- 15:16Speaker 2: you're never supposed to make Clemson look like LSU did
- 15:19Speaker 2: on Saturday.
- 15:20Speaker 7: That's why I pulled this up. You were talking about
- 15:21Speaker 7: Clemson players quitting. Watch the guys look the goal line.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Those guys all thought he was going like... Yeah, they
- 15:29Speaker 3: just stood there. They just assumed that he was going
- 15:32Speaker 3: out of bounds.
- 15:34Speaker 2: I mean.
- 15:36Speaker 5: And I'm not going to say... And I say there
- 15:38Speaker 5: were loaves. And I say there was just some... Clemson
- 15:42Speaker 5: played like it was a first game.
- 15:44Speaker 3: Yeah. That's the play rate.
- 15:45Speaker 4: They did not look good.
- 15:47Speaker 5: They played like it was a first game. LSU, of course,
- 15:49Speaker 5: made them look like a high school team. So the
- 15:53Speaker 5: question will be answered throughout the season. How good is LSU?
- 15:57Speaker 5: How bad is Clemson? Is Clemson bad? We don't know.
- 16:00Speaker 5: The way that LSU executed. Who's beaten him this past week?
- 16:06Speaker 5: Just like if you just take a play like that.
- 16:08Speaker 3: In a bubble. This one day in a bubble. Matt,
- 16:12Speaker 3: find somebody out of position.
- 16:13Speaker 7: Find a blown coverage on Saturday.
- 16:15Speaker 3: I only saw like one.
- 16:19Speaker 7: At the end of the third quarter, I see Deshaun
- 16:21Speaker 7: Spears and Tamarcus Cooley running off the field.
- 16:23Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, hey, they played. I haven't seen them
- 16:25Speaker 3: all day because nobody's beaten them.
- 16:26Speaker 5: I didn't see many missed blocks. On offense, it's hard
- 16:33Speaker 5: to tell a lot of, like, missed assignments. It's hard
- 16:35Speaker 5: to tell, like, when you're watching and you don't know
- 16:38Speaker 5: the offense. But, like, you just look at one-on-one block. Like,
- 16:42Speaker 5: it was a complete and utter ass-whipping.
- 16:44Speaker 3: Yep.
- 16:44Speaker 4: Very little penalties. Love to see that.
- 16:47Speaker 3: Sorry, Tuz. Earmuffs. Yeah, I think you end up having, what, six?
- 16:50Speaker 4: Six, I think is what it was.
- 16:54Speaker 2: I mean, I think Clemson only had five. It was
- 16:56Speaker 2: a clean game from that standpoint. Our Dylan Jones take
- 17:03Speaker 2: is standing pretty tall right now.
- 17:04Speaker 4: He's going to have a million rushing yards.
- 17:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think it's going to be running back
- 17:07Speaker 3: by committee. Doesn't look like it.
- 17:10Speaker 2: I won't forget that Taylor put that video out when
- 17:12Speaker 2: we were talking about Dylan Jones, and he was going
- 17:14Speaker 2: to be RB1, and he was going to get the
- 17:17Speaker 2: majority of the carries or whatever. And there was a
- 17:19Speaker 2: lot of people that just didn't believe them.
- 17:21Speaker 3: Like, look.
- 17:22Speaker 2: I don't care who plays running back at LSU, but
- 17:25Speaker 2: just based off what our eyes are telling us and
- 17:28Speaker 2: our conversations from over across from the Ponderosa.
- 17:31Speaker 3: He's going to be the guy. And he's being asked
- 17:34Speaker 3: to do a lot. He played.
- 17:37Speaker 2: I said during the game, I'm like, okay, Jack Smith,
- 17:41Speaker 2: Clemson's punter and Dylan Jones deserve extra postgame meal.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Because of all the work that they're doing here tonight.
- 17:49Speaker 5: He's doing a lot of work by carries, but he's
- 17:51Speaker 5: being asked to do a lot in the entirety of
- 17:53Speaker 5: the offense. When I'm talking about full field scanning, picking
- 17:57Speaker 5: up blitzers from the backside, cross-keying from one side to
- 18:00Speaker 5: the other to pick up a safety, nickel, a corner,
- 18:04Speaker 5: whoever it is, like a double A-gap pressure when he's
- 18:07Speaker 5: got to stick his nose in the A-gap and hit
- 18:10Speaker 5: a linebacker in the face that's running full speed at him,
- 18:12Speaker 5: doing it.
- 18:13Speaker 3: Stacey Gage did, too, on that one. Touchdown on the
- 18:16Speaker 3: pylon route. Yep.
- 18:19Speaker 5: They're being asked to do a lot, and nothing seemed
- 18:22Speaker 5: too big for any player that was out on the field.
- 18:24Speaker 5: So congrats, LSU. Congrats, LSU fans. Congrats to Lane and
- 18:30Speaker 5: his team. What a statement.
- 18:32Speaker 4: All 78 of them.
- 18:33Speaker 3: All 78 of them. Yeah, now.
- 18:36Speaker 4: I guess the 78.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what I mean? Come on. Give yourself
- 18:39Speaker 3: over to it. I think. Why not go for triple digits?
- 18:43Speaker 4: Let's have 100 next year.
- 18:44Speaker 3: Let's get 100. If you can buy it. Why not?
- 18:49Speaker 3: All right. P. Martin, congrats. Hell of a job.
- 18:52Speaker 4: Say, well, it looked great.
- 18:55Speaker 3: So ready. Well, I'm excited. Yeah, we should be.
- 19:02Speaker 5: What are we going to try to do? Are we
- 19:02Speaker 5: going to try to watch the film on here? I
- 19:03Speaker 5: know we're going to do our big film tomorrow.
- 19:06Speaker 3: We're going to do some plays. We're going to do
- 19:10Speaker 3: some plays. We have to. We've got to find that gourd.
- 19:12Speaker 3: We're going to do some plays.
- 19:13Speaker 4: I already found it. It's up to you at this point.
- 19:15Speaker 3: We didn't do the walkthrough. No. Wee, you got a
- 19:19Speaker 3: mouse in your pocket? Yep. You're the one who hooks
- 19:21Speaker 3: it up. I was talking about me and twos. Yeah. Twos,
- 19:24Speaker 3: let's go. Get it together. Do your job.
- 19:26Speaker 4: She got her squishies back here.
- 19:27Speaker 3: Do your job. We got a neato. We got a
- 19:30Speaker 3: butter squishy.
- 19:33Speaker 4: I like the fuzz ball.
- 19:34Speaker 3: The fuzz ball is nice. Dude, Daniel mentions Blake Baker.
- 19:38Speaker 3: We'll talk about it. We might talk an hour.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Yeah, we might talk like. We're not defensive guys, but
- 19:44Speaker 2: we are when it comes to Blake Baker.
- 19:46Speaker 5: I just spoke like seven minutes on the offensive line.
- 19:50Speaker 5: without breathing, I think. So, yeah, we're going to talk
- 19:52Speaker 5: about Blake Baker.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it was chef's kiss. All right, we got to
- 19:57Speaker 3: take a break. We're going to be. Hey, man, 10 million.
- 20:00Speaker 3: I'm going to try to stay on the clock.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Not great, but a lot of exciting things to talk
- 20:04Speaker 2: about here in the opening segment. More OTB when we
- 20:07Speaker 2: come back.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Off the Bench.
- 20:10Speaker 2: All right, go to pelicanroof.com, pelicanroof.com, the website for Pelican Roofing.
- 20:15Speaker 3: It's in Baton Rouge. It's in Lafayette.
- 20:17Speaker 2: It is boots on the ground in both locations. We
- 20:20Speaker 2: always say that because they're always doing something in the
- 20:22Speaker 2: local community. The Run with Roof is the Mother's Day
- 20:25Speaker 2: and Veterans Day roof giveaways. They're not driving back and
- 20:28Speaker 2: forth on the basin either. They are there for you
- 20:30Speaker 2: in Baton Rouge and, again, the entire greater Baton Rouge area.
- 20:33Speaker 3: Same thing with Lafayette as well. And you know what
- 20:36Speaker 3: they are in the roofing game?
- 20:37Speaker 2: Over 600 five-star reviews you can see right there on
- 20:40Speaker 2: the homepage, pelicanroof.com.
- 20:42Speaker 5: That's right, pelicanroof, pelicanroof.com, the best roofing company in all
- 20:46Speaker 5: of Louisiana. And don't take it from me. Go to
- 20:48Speaker 5: their website. Go to pelicanroof.com. You can check out all
- 20:51Speaker 5: the five-star reviews on the meanest place on earth, which
- 20:55Speaker 5: is the Internet. They love Pelican Roof. They can also

- 21:01Speaker 5: financial decision for you and your family. Let them help
- 21:05Speaker 5: you every step of the way. Pelican Roof, where everybody
- 21:07Speaker 5: needs a roof!
- 21:30Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Hester and Flynn, presented by Bayou Automotive.
- 21:34Speaker 7: Fingertips and memories, I can't forget the curves of your body.
- 21:40Speaker 2: And when I feel a bit.
- 21:42Speaker 3: Naughty, I rhyme it up with flagpole and sea.
- 21:45Speaker 4: Who still looks, but no one ever does.
- 21:48Speaker 3: I'm not sick, but I'm not well.
- 21:49Speaker 9: And I'm so hot, cause I'm in.
- 21:56Speaker 6: Town.
- 22:04Speaker 3: Coming back with a little Channel One.
- 22:13Speaker 6: Okay.
- 22:14Speaker 3: If you don't know what Channel One is.
- 22:16Speaker 2: You didn't get to experience the TV rolling into your classroom.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Watched a little 30-minute news program that was run by teenagers.
- 22:28Speaker 2: We talked about this. You had Channel One, right? You
- 22:30Speaker 2: had Channel One, right?
- 22:31Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 22:32Speaker 3: Oh, yes. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. All right. I'm not watching
- 22:35Speaker 3: this video. I'm not crazy. Okay, good. A lot to
- 22:40Speaker 3: get into an hour.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Number two, I would probably say is when we'll kind
- 22:43Speaker 2: of get some clips up here. And for our radio listeners,
- 22:46Speaker 2: don't worry. We'll kind of describe exactly what we're seeing.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Certainly.
- 22:49Speaker 2: I want to go over the pick six and just
- 22:51Speaker 2: the beautiful call on defense there, because as I'm watching
- 22:55Speaker 2: the game, I kind of assumed it was something different
- 22:59Speaker 2: when you break it down, and Matt and I were
- 23:00Speaker 2: talking about it yesterday. All the things going on and
- 23:03Speaker 2: all the little bitty things that made that play what
- 23:05Speaker 2: it is, remarkable. Same thing with the Watkins touchdown, the
- 23:09Speaker 2: long touchdown there in the corner of the north end zone.
- 23:12Speaker 2: So we'll get to all of those plays, but now
- 23:14Speaker 2: we're just continuing to talk about individual efforts that became
- 23:17Speaker 2: team efforts.
- 23:19Speaker 3: The receiver room for LSU.
- 23:22Speaker 2: We didn't really know who it was going to be,
- 23:24Speaker 2: Right before the game, honestly, I'm going over to LSU
- 23:27Speaker 2: sports information, and I'm like, okay, of these 11 guys,
- 23:32Speaker 2: which three are going to go out there for the
- 23:33Speaker 2: first play?
- 23:34Speaker 3: Because they've got to do starting lineups.
- 23:35Speaker 2: And not because you didn't have them, because you just
- 23:38Speaker 2: didn't know which ones were going to be the main guys.
- 23:42Speaker 3: And Winston Watkins Jr.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Has seven catches, 110 yards, had 11 targets, had 47
- 23:49Speaker 2: after the catch, had a long of 32, and of
- 23:51Speaker 2: course had touchdowns. Trey Daz Green had six targets, came
- 23:54Speaker 2: down with four of them for 58 yards, 36 yards
- 23:58Speaker 2: after the catch. Trey Wilson had five targets. He caught
- 24:01Speaker 2: four of them for 35 yards. And then Phillip Wright
- 24:04Speaker 2: had three targets, three catches, 70 yards, and a touchdown.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Phillip Wright III certainly flashing. Tay-Tay, that is a guy
- 24:13Speaker 2: that you have talked about ever since he's been on campus.
- 24:16Speaker 7: Yeah, we had a really good fall camp. I mean,
- 24:18Speaker 7: the last two, two-and-a-half weeks of fall camp, He was
- 24:21Speaker 7: running with the ones a lot, and that's why I mentioned, like,
- 24:23Speaker 7: if you have a five- to six-man rotation, Phillip Wright's
- 24:26Speaker 7: going to be in that.
- 24:27Speaker 3: I thought he was awesome on Saturday.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Phillip, I want to ask you from being a quarterback,
- 24:34Speaker 2: and you had– I mean, you had main targets in 07,
- 24:38Speaker 2: but it was a little bit of early deuce set, right?
- 24:40Speaker 2: It's a little bit of JoJo LaFell. It's a little
- 24:42Speaker 2: bit of Demetrius Bird. Like, you– Richard Dixon certainly had
- 24:46Speaker 2: his time. So, I mean, certainly– I mean, it.
- 24:47Speaker 3: Had to be a lot of people because early was
- 24:49Speaker 3: out for– Six games, right?
- 24:51Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 24:51Speaker 2: I mean, you spread the ball out. I mean, the Mitchells,
- 24:54Speaker 2: Jared and Chris Mitchell, they got in there as well.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Is it something, as a quarterback, do you want that
- 25:00Speaker 2: number one target? Like, do you just want guys to
- 25:03Speaker 2: do their job?
- 25:04Speaker 3: Do you care? Do you notice?
- 25:05Speaker 2: Do you just read the coverage? Do you throw it
- 25:07Speaker 2: where it's supposed to go? Because you really– I don't
- 25:10Speaker 2: think you necessarily had a number one guy in 07
- 25:13Speaker 2: just because it could change from game to game.
- 25:15Speaker 5: I mean, having a true number one is– obviously a
- 25:20Speaker 5: huge benefit for a quarterback because that means you got
- 25:22Speaker 5: a really, a really standout good wide receiver out there.
- 25:27Speaker 5: Not necessarily because you're going to do like snap it
- 25:30Speaker 5: and look directly at that person, but it's just because
- 25:34Speaker 5: you got to really a number one receiver means you
- 25:36Speaker 5: got a dynamic playmaker. That's going to get open a lot.
- 25:38Speaker 5: It's going to be body friendly. He's going to make
- 25:41Speaker 5: plays when he gets the ball.
- 25:42Speaker 3: In your hand.
- 25:43Speaker 5: Um, But, you know, it certainly didn't have, like, that
- 25:47Speaker 5: number one guy.
- 25:48Speaker 3: I mean, we did go into the season. It was
- 25:50Speaker 3: early going into the season. My year. So we don't know.
- 25:58Speaker 5: But, I mean, you read through the play. Like, you
- 26:01Speaker 5: call a play to beat a coverage. And one play,
- 26:04Speaker 5: it might be, your read might be one thing against man.
- 26:08Speaker 5: But then you get zone, it's a completely different thing.
- 26:11Speaker 5: It's the same play, but you're reading it out differently.
- 26:14Speaker 5: So it's not necessarily one of those things that it's,
- 26:16Speaker 5: all right, I'm going to pick this guy over that guy.
- 26:19Speaker 5: Unless you just have like a completely even route tree
- 26:22Speaker 5: on both sides, you get man to man coverage. You
- 26:25Speaker 5: don't like dislike any, any of your receivers. There's not
- 26:29Speaker 5: necessarily one DB you're going against. Like, cause sometimes you'll
- 26:32Speaker 5: go up to the line of scrimmage. And if you
- 26:33Speaker 5: have man to man, you're choosing sides, which side you
- 26:35Speaker 5: want to work. Sometimes you go up to the week cornerback.
- 26:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:39Speaker 5: If you have a week and that's what, that's your,
- 26:40Speaker 5: that's your part of your preparation throughout the week is to.
- 26:44Speaker 3: To find the fish on defense. You know what I mean?
- 26:46Speaker 5: It's to find that person on defense, that corner that
- 26:49Speaker 5: you want to attack if it comes down to a
- 26:51Speaker 5: situation where you get straight man-to-man. But then sometimes, I mean,
- 26:56Speaker 5: I just never had that to where it was like
- 26:58Speaker 5: I had that Terrell Owens type guy where no matter
- 27:01Speaker 5: who the DB was, I was throwing it at him.
- 27:04Speaker 3: Wasn't that situation. I guess I did have Terrell Owens
- 27:06Speaker 3: on my team.
- 27:08Speaker 2: If Terrell Owens would have just caught that.
- 27:10Speaker 3: Stupid pass in Seattle. I did. I targeted him five times.
- 27:13Speaker 5: Zero completions to him.
- 27:18Speaker 3: One hit him right in the hands. We didn't have beef.
- 27:20Speaker 3: We were kind of cool. 55 yards. Except that game.
- 27:26Speaker 3: Except for that game.
- 27:29Speaker 5: And then I was the backup after that one.
- 27:32Speaker 3: And I digress. But LSU looked good. Oh, they really, like,
- 27:38Speaker 3: in all aspects. Who was the first player of the game?
- 27:40Speaker 3: Was that Eugene? Was that? Yeah, Trey Wilson. Trey Wilson. But,
- 27:43Speaker 3: I mean, Eugene. Yeah, Eugene was his name. He's a third.
- 27:46Speaker 9: So they call him Trey.
- 27:48Speaker 3: So they call him Trey. Got it.
- 27:50Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 27:50Speaker 4: But, yeah, Eugene, you were correct. His name is Eugene.
- 27:52Speaker 3: Okay. Got it. I was just looking at the roster. No,
- 27:54Speaker 3: I'd rather be called Eugene. I was just looking at
- 27:55Speaker 3: the roster, guys. That's all. Right. But that was his
- 27:58Speaker 3: only catch. No, no, no. No, no, no, no, no.
- 28:00Speaker 2: He had four catches, 35 yards. Did he have a touchdown? Oh, shoot,
- 28:04Speaker 2: I was looking at the wrong column here.
- 28:06Speaker 4: I was thinking Watkins, I think.
- 28:08Speaker 3: Watkins had one, Wright had one.
- 28:09Speaker 7: Third quarter, Matt, when Levin got hot, that was kind
- 28:13Speaker 7: of the Trey Wilson when he racked him up.
- 28:16Speaker 3: That's what I was kind of looking at.
- 28:17Speaker 5: So first play of the game, you can figure out
- 28:19Speaker 5: a lot early on what you want to try to
- 28:20Speaker 5: do throwing the ball about, at least the coaches.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Just because you have.
- 28:24Speaker 5: A receiver– that has leads and catches and yards for
- 28:29Speaker 5: one game doesn't mean he's technically, in the coach's eyes,
- 28:31Speaker 5: the number one guy. Well, they certainly did a four-by-one
- 28:36Speaker 5: formation first play of the game and threw it to
- 28:39Speaker 5: Trey Wilson backside one-on-one. So the old oop-dee-oop first play
- 28:44Speaker 5: of the game, basically, is kind of what they did
- 28:47Speaker 5: to throw it to Trey Wilson. So that kind of
- 28:48Speaker 5: tells me a little bit right there.
- 28:50Speaker 3: The one Mississippi Valley State used to do back in
- 28:52Speaker 3: the day? Yeah, they did.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Hey, I have four strong. You get one-on-one backside. And
- 28:58Speaker 2: if you don't know that reference, you don't know this show.
- 29:00Speaker 2: They had about four people open as well on that first.
- 29:02Speaker 3: They did. I mean, even the second one was. Absolutely. 100%.
- 29:06Speaker 5: That's the read. Like, if you get one-on-one backside, you
- 29:08Speaker 5: take it. You don't like trying to hit a corner,
- 29:10Speaker 5: but you take it.
- 29:12Speaker 3: LZ on the second one. Nice play design.
- 29:14Speaker 2: He pushes up and then comes straight across the line.
- 29:17Speaker 2: It was a little bit on the back shoulder there,
- 29:19Speaker 2: but you still, you're going to want to catch that one.
- 29:21Speaker 3: This level of ball. Yeah.
- 29:22Speaker 2: When the ball goes up in the air though, who
- 29:23Speaker 2: knows the DBs right there and it falls into his lap.
- 29:26Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 29:26Speaker 5: That was on Sam. I mean, that's yeah. You want
- 29:28Speaker 5: him to catch it. It's hard when you come in
- 29:30Speaker 5: to the quarterback like that. He throws it low and
- 29:32Speaker 5: away hard. That was like an early game, a little
- 29:36Speaker 5: bit of nervy throw. It's a three-step timing, so your
- 29:41Speaker 5: left-right footwork. He gets press man, so it takes him
- 29:45Speaker 5: a second to get to his brakes. He's got to
- 29:46Speaker 5: fight through. So you've got to hit your back foot.
- 29:49Speaker 5: You've got to hit your right foot and plant it
- 29:51Speaker 5: and put your weight on it. He kind of hopped
- 29:53Speaker 5: back a little bit instead of having his– so if
- 29:56Speaker 5: you get press man and you're in the shotgun– your
- 29:59Speaker 5: left foot, right foot, plant on your right foot. He
- 30:03Speaker 5: didn't plant it. He just kind of stepped back, kind
- 30:05Speaker 5: of made him a little inaccurate, a little nerves early
- 30:07Speaker 5: in the game. A lot happened, and we can understand
- 30:10Speaker 5: that your fine motor skills footwork may be a little.
- 30:14Speaker 3: Off on that one.
- 30:14Speaker 5: If that would have happened second drive, I anticipate that
- 30:18Speaker 5: I would suggest that he probably makes a better throw,
- 30:21Speaker 5: better footwork.
- 30:22Speaker 2: And before we go to break, the thing that I
- 30:24Speaker 2: was like, okay, this feels different. was as soon as
- 30:29Speaker 2: that happened, okay, so Clemson gets the ball on LSU's
- 30:33Speaker 2: 33-yard line. You've got, like, a four-yard run, but there
- 30:37Speaker 2: wasn't a lot of space there, and then a negative
- 30:38Speaker 2: two-yard run, then incompletion.
- 30:41Speaker 3: Like, you didn't give them anything.
- 30:43Speaker 2: You gave them two yards in that entire drive, and
- 30:47Speaker 2: anybody that's ever played football, like, Clemson should have had
- 30:50Speaker 2: so much momentum.
- 30:51Speaker 3: They're away.
- 30:51Speaker 2: They got a turnover. They've got almost guaranteed points, and
- 30:55Speaker 2: it did not matter. And you're going off your script
- 30:58Speaker 2: still a little bit. You're probably not going down the
- 31:01Speaker 2: first 15, but you're going your first red area plays,
- 31:04Speaker 2: your best red area plays in that moment. You got
- 31:07Speaker 2: two yards, you make a field goal, and then LSU
- 31:10Speaker 2: comes and they answer with their own field goal. And
- 31:12Speaker 2: it just felt like from that moment, because after that,
- 31:15Speaker 2: Clemson was punt, interception, punt, punt, punt, punt, end of half.
- 31:24Speaker 3: So, Against the.
- 31:26Speaker 2: First team and really the second team defense too, that
- 31:28Speaker 2: was the threes they scored against. That was the most
- 31:33Speaker 2: success that you had, was like that first down four-yard run.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Truly dominant in every aspect of it. All right, we
- 31:40Speaker 2: will step away. We've got more coming right back your way.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Stay locked in, OTB.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 31:46Speaker 3: All right, go to sensorplumbing.org, sensorplumbing.org.
- 31:50Speaker 2: Now, if you would have had an issue during the game,
- 31:54Speaker 2: You give them a call, and they're going to be
- 31:55Speaker 2: there every single time. That's in Baton Rouge, the entire
- 31:58Speaker 2: greater Baton Rouge area. That's Lafayette now as well. Now,
- 32:02Speaker 2: you know, oftentimes, like, it's a closer game. Like, this
- 32:05Speaker 2: hits a little bit harder.
- 32:08Speaker 3: But it doesn't matter. It is nights. It's weekends. It's
- 32:12Speaker 3: game day. It's holiday.
- 32:13Speaker 2: If you have an emergency, Central Plumbing is always going
- 32:15Speaker 2: to be there for you. It's not the only thing
- 32:17Speaker 2: that they do, though. If you're looking to remodel at
- 32:19Speaker 2: your home, at your business, they can come in. They
- 32:21Speaker 2: can completely change your space. They can be there from
- 32:24Speaker 2: the very beginning, too. If you're just building for the
- 32:27Speaker 2: first time at your home or business, go to centralplumbing.org.
- 32:29Speaker 3: For more information. Yeah, sometimes we have a big loss. Like,
- 32:32Speaker 3: you just want to flush it, right?
- 32:33Speaker 2: Dabo is trying to flush this loss this past week,
- 32:36Speaker 2: but it's going to be hard to flush. If your
- 32:38Speaker 2: toilet's hard to flush, give Central Plumbing a call. Centralplumbing.org.

- 32:52Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Hester and Flynn, presented by Bayou Automotive.
- 33:27Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in.
- 33:28Speaker 2: OTB here, live from the Raising Cane Studio. Of course,
- 33:31Speaker 2: our Monday show is brought to you by our friends
- 33:33Speaker 2: over at Bayou Automotive. BayouAutomotive.com is the website. Go there today.
- 33:42Speaker 2: The last time the LSU ran for this many yards
- 33:44Speaker 2: was the day that Jaden Daniels basically won the Heisman
- 33:47Speaker 2: Trophy against the Florida Gators in 2023.
- 33:50Speaker 3: Mm-hmm. It's been a long time.
- 33:53Speaker 2: Their last game over 200 yards was against Western Kentucky,
- 33:56Speaker 2: I think, in 2024. This was different. Jaden got a
- 34:01Speaker 2: pretty good warm reception. He did not. Which I think
- 34:05Speaker 2: is a little bit.
- 34:08Speaker 3: Over the top. I get it, but I don't get it.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Anyways, this wasn't like– that day, Jaden Daniels was Superman.
- 34:20Speaker 3: He had his cape out. Right?
- 34:22Speaker 2: And it still happened. And it was one of the
- 34:24Speaker 2: best performances that I can remember. I mean, and it
- 34:26Speaker 2: was against Florida, so it made it even that much
- 34:29Speaker 2: more special. But this was like a total team effort
- 34:33Speaker 2: running the football. It was multiple people. It was different ways.
- 34:37Speaker 2: I saw, and we're not here to beat up on
- 34:40Speaker 2: what it was last year. Y'all know what it was
- 34:42Speaker 2: last year. Well, you know what I mean, though. Like,
- 34:43Speaker 2: we already know. It's one of my favorite things to do.
- 34:45Speaker 2: We've talked about that so many times, though. Like, I
- 34:47Speaker 2: think our listeners understand that.
- 34:49Speaker 8: Mm-hmm.
- 34:50Speaker 2: And, again, another thing we talked about on Saturday, I
- 34:53Speaker 2: was like, I've seen more run concepts in the first
- 34:58Speaker 2: 10 runs than I did all of last year.
- 35:00Speaker 3: Yeah. I really did.
- 35:02Speaker 2: So in the first 10 runs, I saw four different
- 35:04Speaker 2: concepts of runs. And as a running back, like, you
- 35:10Speaker 2: have to have that. You can't just be an inside
- 35:13Speaker 2: zone team. Like, you can't just be a zone team
- 35:15Speaker 2: in general. Like, you have to run other things. Even
- 35:19Speaker 2: when we were in the stone age of offense and
- 35:22Speaker 2: just running what we used to run back in the day,
- 35:25Speaker 2: compared to what it is now, we were going to
- 35:28Speaker 2: run everything.
- 35:29Speaker 3: We were going to run stretch. We were going to
- 35:32Speaker 3: run inside zone, outside zone.
- 35:34Speaker 2: We certainly were going to run power and run counter
- 35:37Speaker 2: and ISO and everything. So not just zone and man
- 35:40Speaker 2: and gap scheme. I'm just talking about different variations of
- 35:43Speaker 2: all those different things. I remember going back to the
- 35:46Speaker 2: 05 Peach Bowl. And we're running stretch behind Andrew Whitworth.
- 35:50Speaker 3: And I'm like, oh, this is easy. You want football
- 35:54Speaker 3: super easy. Yeah.
- 35:56Speaker 2: Like really, this is my first time kind of really
- 35:58Speaker 2: getting to tote the rock behind that. You know, I'm like, well,
- 36:01Speaker 2: is it all, is it always.
- 36:02Speaker 3: Going to be like this?
- 36:03Speaker 2: But I saw so many different schemes. I'm like, this is,
- 36:08Speaker 2: this is half the battle. It doesn't matter how good
- 36:11Speaker 2: you are running back. If you're just continuing to run
- 36:13Speaker 2: the same play over and over again. Now, Dylan Jones was...
- 36:16Speaker 2: It's setting yourself up as a coaching staff. Yeah, it's
- 36:21Speaker 2: keeping the defense guessing.
- 36:22Speaker 5: It's running different types of running plays so you can't
- 36:26Speaker 5: tee off and get used to one thing, and it
- 36:28Speaker 5: keeps them guessing, keeps them on the heels a little bit.
- 36:31Speaker 3: Running different plays.
- 36:33Speaker 5: Gives maybe an eighth of a second advantage to your offense,
- 36:36Speaker 5: and sometimes that's all that matters. It's the difference between
- 36:39Speaker 5: two and four yards.
- 36:42Speaker 3: But it's also a difference between.
- 36:44Speaker 5: being well coached, like setting up your offense when you're
- 36:49Speaker 5: running the ball for success, giving in the coaching, give
- 36:53Speaker 5: them the aiming points, giving them the tools, the footwork,
- 36:56Speaker 5: the mindset. I saw more good plays from Weston Davis
- 37:04Speaker 5: on Saturday than I saw the entire year. Is it
- 37:09Speaker 5: because he was a bad offensive lineman? No, he was
- 37:12Speaker 5: because of, the scheme and the coaching and all the,
- 37:17Speaker 5: all the above. But like, we talked about the offensive lineman.
- 37:21Speaker 5: Like we couldn't blame specifically the individuals last year. Like
- 37:27Speaker 5: you wanted to, because sometimes it looks so bad, but like,
- 37:29Speaker 5: what are you being told day in, day out? My God,
- 37:32Speaker 5: I'm going through the first quarter again right now.
- 37:35Speaker 3: And I'm like, is that the same guy? Is that
- 37:38Speaker 3: the same guy? Yeah.
- 37:40Speaker 5: And it's, it's, it's, it's really encouraging to, And it
- 37:44Speaker 5: really exciting to be on this side of things and
- 37:48Speaker 5: to watch that performance. And like you said, not only
- 37:52Speaker 5: are they keeping the defense guessing by doing different things,
- 37:56Speaker 5: but they're, when they do those different things, they are
- 37:58Speaker 5: so they're, they're very well coached and it's impressive that
- 38:01Speaker 5: they were able to put that tape out there on week.
- 38:05Speaker 3: One, especially week one with the brand new coaches though. Yeah.
- 38:10Speaker 2: With, what everybody thought was going to be distractions so
- 38:13Speaker 2: big that they wouldn't be focused on the game.
- 38:15Speaker 3: Yeah. Like that is one thing that I noticed.
- 38:20Speaker 2: And I told y'all as we, you know, as I
- 38:22Speaker 2: came back from talking with the team, I was like, I,
- 38:25Speaker 2: I know there's a lot of stuff going on, but
- 38:27Speaker 2: that team didn't really feel like they cared about it.
- 38:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:30Speaker 2: They kind of felt focused on that day, that moment,
- 38:32Speaker 2: that practice. And like, you hear that from somebody and look,
- 38:36Speaker 2: I played at LSU and they're like, Oh, of course
- 38:38Speaker 2: the LSU guy's going to say that. I said that
- 38:39Speaker 2: to y'all private. That team, I'm not saying that I
- 38:44Speaker 2: wouldn't be distracted, but they're not.
- 38:48Speaker 3: All right, real quick.
- 38:49Speaker 2: You should know this is one of my favorite things
- 38:53Speaker 2: to do.
- 38:53Speaker 3: Okay. So ready. Run breakdown. I'm excited. 48 runs. 16
- 39:05Speaker 3: outside zones. Pretty good sample size. 10 inside zones.
- 39:09Speaker 2: 14, as they describe as like a man. So a
- 39:14Speaker 2: man can be a duo, an iso, some different things.
- 39:18Speaker 3: Wham.
- 39:18Speaker 2: I haven't seen any whams, but it can be a wham.
- 39:21Speaker 2: Love the wham block, unless it's hello, de nada.
- 39:24Speaker 3: They ran a draw. Guess what else they did? No,
- 39:28Speaker 3: don't do it. Don't you dare.
- 39:30Speaker 2: It don't you say it they ran seven powers shut
- 39:35Speaker 2: up which is seven more than lsu ran last year
- 39:41Speaker 2: they ran seven times the amount just seven times zero
- 39:45Speaker 2: dude yeah So that kind of also gives you the
- 39:50Speaker 2: diversity in the run game of 16 outside zones, 10
- 39:54Speaker 2: inside zones, 14 man concepts, and seven powers. It's a
- 40:01Speaker 2: little bit of everything, and that's how you keep a
- 40:03Speaker 2: defense on their heels. You don't just run the same
- 40:06Speaker 2: thing over and over and over again, which you're not
- 40:09Speaker 2: good at. Also, we need to add that caveat into it.
- 40:12Speaker 2: You're not good at it, and you keep running it.
- 40:14Speaker 2: You've got to give him different looks. You've got to
- 40:16Speaker 2: give your running back a different feel. You've got to
- 40:18Speaker 2: give him different things to do. And, again, I said
- 40:21Speaker 2: it on the broadcast. We're 10 plays in. I said
- 40:23Speaker 2: this is more diversity in the run game than I
- 40:26Speaker 2: saw all of last year.
- 40:28Speaker 5: Yeah, and you weren't so reliant on RPOs that you
- 40:34Speaker 5: handicapped your offensive lineman from getting to the second level.
- 40:38Speaker 5: If they've got to go block a linebacker, they go
- 40:39Speaker 5: block a linebacker. They don't have to wait and wait
- 40:42Speaker 5: to see if you're handing it off or throwing it.
- 40:44Speaker 5: And they're on their heels a little bit and chopping
- 40:46Speaker 5: their feet and balking nobody for a little bit.
- 40:48Speaker 8: No.
- 40:49Speaker 5: It was just great. It was just the whole film,
- 40:53Speaker 5: the whole game. What else?
- 40:56Speaker 3: I mean. The what else? We're going to continue to.
- 40:59Speaker 3: What else? Should we watch film? We are at 8 o'clock.
- 41:02Speaker 3: As long as the cord works. Again, we did not
- 41:06Speaker 3: do a dress rehearsal. Did you not find the cord? Well,
- 41:10Speaker 3: I see it down there. Or what was formerly known
- 41:13Speaker 3: as the cord.
- 41:14Speaker 5: The artist formerly known as the cord that shows film? Yeah,
- 41:16Speaker 5: but we'll see if it's still plugged into the thing
- 41:18Speaker 5: that can zoom over to Taylor.
- 41:20Speaker 2: All right, we'll find that out. We'll test that out
- 41:22Speaker 2: at 8 o'clock. We are going to watch some tape.
- 41:24Speaker 2: We're going to take a break now. More LSU dominant
- 41:28Speaker 2: win over Clemson when we come back here on OTB.
- 41:31Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 41:33Speaker 3: All right, go to russellpools.com.
- 41:35Speaker 2: Russell Poole Company been in the game since the 1960s
- 41:38Speaker 2: here in South Louisiana. So, look, we know we have
- 41:42Speaker 2: harsh conditions weather-wise.
- 41:44Speaker 3: In South Louisiana.
- 41:45Speaker 2: So, a lot of times, if you don't have the
- 41:47Speaker 2: right person building your pool, it's going to take a
- 41:49Speaker 2: beating and it's going to affect your pool. Not the
- 41:51Speaker 2: case when you work with Russell Pools because, again, they've
- 41:54Speaker 2: been in the game since the 1960s.
- 41:57Speaker 3: They know what the weather is.
- 41:58Speaker 2: They know how to build their pools to make sure
- 42:00Speaker 2: they stand the test of time. And also, you're going
- 42:02Speaker 2: to get an incredible custom pool. It's not going to
- 42:04Speaker 2: be like any of your neighbors because... That's what Russell
- 42:07Speaker 2: Pools is always about. Go to russellpools.com.
- 42:10Speaker 3: Yes.
- 42:10Speaker 5: Once you call Russell Pools, Chris Anderson, and his team,
- 42:14Speaker 5: go to russellpools.com to get that number. I think you
- 42:17Speaker 5: start the whole process there. You talked to me about
- 42:19Speaker 5: your project. They got two landscape architects on staff.
- 42:22Speaker 3: So what does that mean?
- 42:22Speaker 5: Like this is something that pool companies just don't do,
- 42:24Speaker 5: but they do it because they take everything to the
- 42:26Speaker 5: next level over there at Russell Pools. They can take
- 42:28Speaker 5: your dream to reality right over there. The best russellpools.com.
- 42:46Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Hester and Flynn, presented by Bayou Automotive.
- 42:52Speaker 3: I burn, burn like a wicker cabinet, chalk.
- 42:59Speaker 4: White and oh so frail. I see our time has
- 43:03Speaker 4: gotten stale.
- 43:06Speaker 3: The tick tock of the clock is painful also.
- 43:20Speaker 2: All right, welcome back in OTB.
- 43:28Speaker 3: Always want to remind you about our friends over at
- 43:29Speaker 3: K to Z.
- 43:30Speaker 2: K to Z are now interiors and outdoor living.
- 43:34Speaker 3: K to Z blinds.com. K to Z blinds.com is the website.
- 43:37Speaker 2: Brandon Barton and team been in the game since 2004.
- 43:41Speaker 2: Come out to your space, know your space, learn your space,
- 43:43Speaker 2: change your space in a matter of minutes. I got
- 43:45Speaker 2: Brandon and the team coming out here. In about a
- 43:48Speaker 2: week or so, excited about that. It's always a good
- 43:50Speaker 2: time when they throw something up because you know it's
- 43:52Speaker 2: going to take care of your entire home. And, again,
- 43:54Speaker 2: it's inside, it's outside, it's outside, it's inside, and sometimes
- 43:57Speaker 2: it's a little bit of both.
- 43:58Speaker 3: KDCBlondes.com. Did you test the cord? Oh, no, I forgot. Tuesday,
- 44:08Speaker 3: I came over here and needed a hug.
- 44:09Speaker 2: Tuesday, I'm going to need you to stay over there
- 44:12Speaker 2: on your side of the glass.
- 44:15Speaker 3: They're not glasses, Mr. Jacob.
- 44:18Speaker 2: Yeah, but that's what we say. Hey, this is your, like,
- 44:23Speaker 2: third day in radio, okay? So I'm going to need
- 44:26Speaker 2: you to settle down over there. That's the other side
- 44:28Speaker 2: of the glass. That's radio slang, okay?
- 44:32Speaker 3: Okay.
- 44:34Speaker 2: Alondra, Tay-Tay, we hadn't really got an opportunity to hear
- 44:38Speaker 2: from you. Alondra, you were at the game. Certainly want
- 44:40Speaker 2: to hear from you. Just the atmosphere, the game itself.
- 44:44Speaker 2: and just everything that led to LSU beating up on Clemson.
- 44:47Speaker 9: Yeah, when we were sitting there, you know, I sat
- 44:50Speaker 9: next to Chris, so I was like, this is genuinely
- 44:52Speaker 9: the loudest I've heard Tiger Stadium, I think, ever.
- 44:56Speaker 4: And I was like, maybe I'm just being, like, but
- 45:00Speaker 4: it was so loud.
- 45:00Speaker 9: And then I saw Holly Road tweeted out that she
- 45:03Speaker 9: had it, she recorded how loud it was, and it
- 45:06Speaker 9: indeed was, like, the vibes in there were crazy. I
- 45:09Speaker 9: think it was insane that It rained so hard and
- 45:13Speaker 9: that many people were still that excited and showed up
- 45:17Speaker 9: and honestly showed out.
- 45:18Speaker 4: It was like torrential downpour for a second.
- 45:20Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 45:21Speaker 4: And yeah, the vibes were great.
- 45:24Speaker 9: And whenever I was trying to get in the stadium,
- 45:27Speaker 9: I'd never seen it that packed ever.
- 45:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 45:30Speaker 9: Like in my 10 years being here at LSU. So
- 45:36Speaker 9: I think that everybody's very, very excited about the Lane
- 45:39Speaker 9: Kiffin era, obviously. And now they have something to be
- 45:44Speaker 9: incredibly excited about after that game.
- 45:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, you're right on all accounts. I had
- 45:49Speaker 2: never seen that many people at the walk down the hill,
- 45:51Speaker 2: the Tiger Wall. It went all the way to Nicholson.
- 45:54Speaker 2: It was like 10 deep. I was just trying to
- 45:55Speaker 2: get to the press box. I had to turn into
- 45:58Speaker 2: a fullback there for a second.
- 46:00Speaker 4: I did too.
- 46:01Speaker 3: Hey, if anybody in this room is going to be
- 46:03Speaker 3: a fullback, it's you and I. I was like, We
- 46:05Speaker 3: got it.
- 46:06Speaker 4: I don't know how I got through that, but I did.
- 46:08Speaker 2: And somebody asked me on the sideline, like, hey, are
- 46:10Speaker 2: these people going to show up after the rain?
- 46:12Speaker 3: I go, oh, just wait. They're not going anywhere. And
- 46:14Speaker 3: they didn't. And that's a credit to you, the Tiger fans.
- 46:16Speaker 9: More.
- 46:17Speaker 3: Hour number two of OTV when we come back.
- 46:19Speaker 1: Off the bench.
