- 0:04Speaker 1: So I think investing in a polaroid camera or a
- 0:07Speaker 1: film camera is such a good idea because I actually
- 0:12Speaker 1: look at those photos. So we both have the Instacs
- 0:15Speaker 1: photo printer, which is this really cool tool that if
- 0:19Speaker 1: you don't have a Polaroid camera, you can print out
- 0:22Speaker 1: photos from your phone using this little printer.
- 0:25Speaker 2: And it comes out on pieces of polaroid film.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Good to take notes on. Have done it?
- 0:31Speaker 2: Have reviewed them?
- 0:32Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 0:32Speaker 3: I literally showed themselves out.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Look at my bibbies.
- 0:35Speaker 3: She was like, I'm great.
- 0:37Speaker 2: And then she turns around. She's like where to go?
- 0:38Speaker 5: And I'm like, yes, I was literally taking one home
- 0:42Speaker 5: with her. Salook, She's got it in her wallet. It
- 0:48Speaker 5: likes where people have their kids school photos.
- 0:56Speaker 4: Hey jicks, I'm out and I'm sal And this is
- 0:58Speaker 4: two boat chicks to show that she has left.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Let's since because we are broken funds but rich in life.
- 1:03Speaker 3: And this is the last episode for this season.
- 1:06Speaker 4: Chicky chocks, Oh my god, Taflers, when you're having fun,
- 1:10Speaker 4: what a wild run.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Season three has been so much fun. But don't worry.
- 1:16Speaker 4: Even though this is the last main episode for season three,
- 1:20Speaker 4: we will be back next season with even bigger and
- 1:24Speaker 4: better podcasts to give you podcasts, videos, podcasts, we've all
- 1:31Speaker 4: all of it.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Maybe even some merch who knows keep an eye out.
- 1:35Speaker 2: For that swag.
- 1:37Speaker 4: Well, now no one's going to buy our staff.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Oh thank you, we're broke.
- 1:46Speaker 4: I mean it's the name of shirts, name of shirts,
- 1:48Speaker 4: everyone knows. But today we are going to be talking
- 1:51Speaker 4: about the things you should spend your money on in
- 1:54Speaker 4: your twenties.
- 1:55Speaker 3: We did an episode of things that you Shouldn't.
- 1:58Speaker 4: Spend your money on, and we were like, we love
- 2:00Speaker 4: spending money, so we're going to tell you what are
- 2:03Speaker 4: the worthy investments in your twenties or at any age.
- 2:07Speaker 3: And they can range from you know.
- 2:09Speaker 4: Some like fun, little goofy, gily stuff and then as
- 2:12Speaker 4: well as some things that are actually really really valuable.
- 2:15Speaker 3: All of it's valuable, but you know, some lighthearted stuff, some.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Lighthearted and life changing.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:20Speaker 4: Do we talk about Little Fat Lame in this episode?
- 2:23Speaker 4: Maybe obviously, maybe we do, Maybe we don't. We'll have
- 2:26Speaker 4: to listen to fin Now Passion Pop, Little Fat Lamb
- 2:29Speaker 4: are the co hosts.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Today, they're the sponsors.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Yeah, we're actually just drunk right now. I'm kidding.
- 2:34Speaker 2: I wish yeah me too. It's like ten thirty in
- 2:36Speaker 2: the morning. Yeah, bloody Mary's.
- 2:38Speaker 3: I mean it's five pm somewhere.
- 2:39Speaker 2: It's true, mamusa's massages.
- 2:43Speaker 4: Where are you going anyway? Trick yourself anyway? Anyway, Anyway,
- 2:48Speaker 4: Before we get into the episode, we always start with
- 2:50Speaker 4: our life lesson of the week. So, so what's your
- 2:52Speaker 4: life lesson of the week.
- 2:53Speaker 1: So my life lesson of the week is to wear
- 2:58Speaker 1: a crystal in your brain when you have a big
- 3:02Speaker 1: day ahead of you, witch WITCHI boo. So if you're
- 3:06Speaker 1: going for a job interview, maybe you're going to break
- 3:08Speaker 1: up with your boyfriend, you've got a tough conversation to have,
- 3:12Speaker 1: you've got to do a speech, you've got a.
- 3:14Speaker 2: UNI assignment or an exam or something.
- 3:17Speaker 3: It's just this episode, it's just you listen, just.
- 3:20Speaker 4: Things that you might have to do, things that you
- 3:21Speaker 4: might have to do.
- 3:22Speaker 1: But basically, if there's high stakes, ye things on the line,
- 3:26Speaker 1: pop a little crystal in your bra Alan, I did
- 3:29Speaker 1: a talk at Spotify this week, which you might have
- 3:32Speaker 1: seen us talk about on our Instagram, and I was nervous.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Although we have a podcast, public speaking isn't really my jam,
- 3:39Speaker 2: especially in front of people. And I was telling my
- 3:41Speaker 2: mom about it.
- 3:42Speaker 1: She was like, my mom's a little white witch and
- 3:44Speaker 1: she's like a little hippie lady who believes in all
- 3:46Speaker 1: of that stuff.
- 3:47Speaker 2: And I do love crystals as well, but you know,
- 3:51Speaker 2: sometimes I'm like how much do they work?
- 3:53Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Anyway, she sent me this gift pack of some essential
- 3:57Speaker 1: oils to like rub on my wrists and neck before
- 4:00Speaker 1: that you know, had like some calming essences in them.
- 4:04Speaker 1: But also she sent me a couple of crystals and
- 4:06Speaker 1: she was like, wear these in your bra and when
- 4:08Speaker 1: I was like, okay, I'll do it, and she sent
- 4:10Speaker 1: me lapis, which is good for communication, and then another
- 4:13Speaker 1: one that's good for anxiety. So I put them in
- 4:15Speaker 1: my bra and then we were sitting on the panel
- 4:18Speaker 1: and I was so nervous, like shaking, and then I
- 4:23Speaker 1: was like, no, wait a second, just remember bioby rocks.
- 4:27Speaker 2: You've got little rocks in your booby Bobby rocks.
- 4:30Speaker 1: And literally from that second I felt fine, amazing, like
- 4:35Speaker 1: the shakes completely went away, and I was like, oh
- 4:38Speaker 1: my god, like this is I feel so comfortable. I
- 4:40Speaker 1: feel so relaxed. Whether or not they actually worked or
- 4:45Speaker 1: it was a placebo.
- 4:46Speaker 3: I feel like it's a mindset.
- 4:48Speaker 2: It's a mindset.
- 4:48Speaker 3: It's a mindset.
- 4:49Speaker 4: So whether it's like it's like when you're like when
- 4:52Speaker 4: you were little in your parents, like something could be
- 4:55Speaker 4: absolutely cooked on your.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Prayers and be like it's okay, you'd be like, oh, okay,
- 4:58Speaker 3: it's fine.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:59Speaker 4: I feel like when you kind of have that belief
- 5:02Speaker 4: in something, whether or not it's true, whether or not it's.
- 5:06Speaker 3: Real, it does help.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Yeah, Like if it's a lucky pair of socks or
- 5:10Speaker 1: something like, figure out whatever that is for you. And
- 5:14Speaker 1: I think it helps take the pressure off because you
- 5:16Speaker 1: feel like there's a high power taking care of you.
- 5:18Speaker 1: It's like dreamcatches all those little worry dolls that you
- 5:21Speaker 1: put under your pillow.
- 5:22Speaker 2: All of this stuff works, whether or not.
- 5:24Speaker 1: It's actually the magic or whatever. But that's my life,
- 5:28Speaker 1: lesson what's yours.
- 5:29Speaker 4: Okay, So a couple episodes back, like in season two,
- 5:33Speaker 4: we did an episode exposing popular fashion sustainability scores where
- 5:38Speaker 4: we used good on You to look up really popular
- 5:40Speaker 4: fashion brands and it was pretty hectic. Yeah, if you
- 5:45Speaker 4: haven't listened to it, go back and listen to it.
- 5:47Speaker 4: It actually really kind of changed the way that I shop.
- 5:50Speaker 4: After doing all that research and we kind of spoke
- 5:54Speaker 4: about in that episode how and you know, we didn't
- 5:57Speaker 4: invent the term, but how a lot of brands is
- 6:00Speaker 4: very smoke and mirrors on what does made from recyclable
- 6:03Speaker 4: materials mean? Or like what does a sustainable range mean?
- 6:06Speaker 4: It doesn't actually have any measurements to it. Like how
- 6:09Speaker 4: much of a garment has to be using recycled materials
- 6:14Speaker 4: for it to be able to have that stamp like
- 6:16Speaker 4: was something that we always wondered because that's not clear.
- 6:19Speaker 3: And this year the Australian.
- 6:22Speaker 4: Businesses were investigated on their green washing and whether they
- 6:26Speaker 4: are being accused of green washing and more than half
- 6:30Speaker 4: of Australian businesses investigated by the a Triple C are
- 6:33Speaker 4: accused of green washing. EO.
- 6:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:37Speaker 4: So this was published on the Daily OS on the
- 6:39Speaker 4: second of March and of the two hundred and forty
- 6:41Speaker 4: seven businesses investigated, fifty seven percent were found to have
- 6:46Speaker 4: made concerning environmental claims.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Jesus, can we name and shame? Do we have any brands?
- 6:52Speaker 4: So there aren't any brands named yet, but all eight
- 6:56Speaker 4: sectors investigated were found to have some level of concerning
- 6:59Speaker 4: environmental sustainability claims. Those with the greatest proportion of concerning
- 7:04Speaker 4: claims were in cosmetics and personal care, textiles, garments and shoes,
- 7:08Speaker 4: and food and beverage businesses, So basically everything.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Yeah, everything we care about, damnit.
- 7:14Speaker 3: So what were the claims?
- 7:15Speaker 4: The most common concern found was the use of vague
- 7:18Speaker 4: or unqualified claims in relation to environmental practices, which I
- 7:21Speaker 4: was like, exactly, it's confusing, it doesn't make sense.
- 7:24Speaker 2: It's spoke and mirrors darling.
- 7:26Speaker 4: This includes terms such as being green or kind to
- 7:29Speaker 4: the planet, which don't have a specific meaning or offer
- 7:33Speaker 4: enough detail to allow a consumer to make an informed decision.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Claims around the use of sustainable or recycled materials in
- 7:39Speaker 4: business products were also flagged. So what's next is that
- 7:44Speaker 4: businesses could be subject to fines or legal proceedings, and
- 7:48Speaker 4: the A Triple C said it will engage with businesses
- 7:51Speaker 4: to improve compliance with consumer laws. Addressing greenwashing claims has
- 7:55Speaker 4: been identified as a current priority by the AH Triple C.
- 7:58Speaker 3: So they know, I think, like, now we know it's happening.
- 8:01Speaker 4: It's like a priority for the ARIPLEC to figure out
- 8:04Speaker 4: what is being green, what is being kind to the planet,
- 8:07Speaker 4: because it isn't measurable. There isn't a yes or no
- 8:10Speaker 4: to that answer, which makes it really frustrating when people
- 8:13Speaker 4: are spending more money to try and shop more sustainable
- 8:17Speaker 4: and that's not necessarily happening. And that is a common
- 8:19Speaker 4: theme that was in our episode because of Good on You.
- 8:23Speaker 4: They have a low score because they don't offer information.
- 8:26Speaker 4: They say they're green, but they don't prove it, they
- 8:28Speaker 4: don't give the numbers, they don't show it, so how
- 8:31Speaker 4: can we believe them? And I think that's a really
- 8:33Speaker 4: valid point that if you are shopping online and you
- 8:36Speaker 4: know there's terms like that like made from recycled materials,
- 8:40Speaker 4: or you know it's clean or green, ask the brand,
- 8:44Speaker 4: email them, ask them for the numbers, and if they
- 8:47Speaker 4: don't give them to you, then I feel like that's
- 8:48Speaker 4: a red flag in itself.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Yeah one because it's obviously good for the planet, but
- 8:53Speaker 1: it's also amazing for their pr So if they were
- 8:55Speaker 1: doing good things, they'd be shouting at from the rooftops
- 8:58Speaker 1: and making it a big part of their branding.
- 9:00Speaker 2: So I agree, pop off a triple Z.
- 9:03Speaker 4: I know I love the A trible c sometimes go off, Bestie,
- 9:07Speaker 4: go off a Kawaihen alrighty well, I.
- 9:11Speaker 3: Was jumped to the episode on let's go spend some money.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Woo woo, got to break checks?
- 9:17Speaker 3: Still bores, let's go get broke. Just kidding.
- 9:20Speaker 4: Value for investment kicking us off, We've got twenty plus
- 9:24Speaker 4: things to spend your money on in your twenties or
- 9:26Speaker 4: at any age. So first one is your mattress and
- 9:31Speaker 4: your bedding. So the average person spends twenty six years
- 9:36Speaker 4: in bed I think I might spend more than that.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Me too, I spend like twenty six years in better
- 9:41Speaker 2: year probably.
- 9:45Speaker 3: That's right.
- 9:48Speaker 4: And I think I have been the girlie that just
- 9:51Speaker 4: got their sheets from Kmar and there's nothing wrong with that.
- 9:54Speaker 4: But if you have the expendable income to invest in
- 10:00Speaker 4: bed linen or bedding.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Do it.
- 10:03Speaker 4: It will literally make the biggest difference ever. Yeah, ever,
- 10:09Speaker 4: it feels so amazing and as well, when you kind
- 10:12Speaker 4: of invest in those quality products.
- 10:15Speaker 3: You will get years out of that bedding.
- 10:17Speaker 4: It doesn't matter how many times you wash them or
- 10:19Speaker 4: put them in the dryer. They will last you so long.
- 10:22Speaker 4: Some of my Koala bedding I have had for like
- 10:25Speaker 4: five years and it's exactly like it was. It's the
- 10:28Speaker 4: bamboo bedding and it's exactly like it was when I
- 10:31Speaker 4: got it, and it dries in two seconds.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Yeah. I love bamboo linen. I feel like it gets
- 10:36Speaker 2: softer with every wash. It's so good.
- 10:38Speaker 1: And also not only is it more comfortable, but a
- 10:41Speaker 1: lot of the maybe more expensive materials like bamboo linen
- 10:46Speaker 1: or silk, are better for your hair and skin as.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Well, which is also important.
- 10:51Speaker 1: So I think, if you're moving out of home and
- 10:53Speaker 1: you're deciding where to put your money, if you can
- 10:57Speaker 1: invest in a good mattress and good.
- 10:59Speaker 4: Linen, genuinely, don't spend three hundred dollars on a dress
- 11:03Speaker 4: from House of CB, don't spend it on Betting. Yeah,
- 11:07Speaker 4: I promise you that dress that you wear once.
- 11:10Speaker 1: To your birthday to lunch at Toddies Lunchet Toddies.
- 11:14Speaker 4: I promise you you will like your sheets more. I
- 11:16Speaker 4: talk about my sheets all the time.
- 11:18Speaker 3: No one cares. I'm like, God, they're great.
- 11:22Speaker 4: Also, a couple other brands that are great is the
- 11:25Speaker 4: Sheet Society.
- 11:27Speaker 3: They're really good. And then I think that eucalyptus eucalyptus Betting.
- 11:32Speaker 4: Or sheets, Yeah, you might have to check that, but
- 11:34Speaker 4: bed threads as well.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Yeah, all great, All great options.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Yeah, they have the Two Broad Chicks tick of approval. Okay,
- 11:42Speaker 2: Number two is hair care.
- 11:45Speaker 1: So we love a good jope over here at two
- 11:48Speaker 1: Broad Chicks and any opportunity to maybe get something for
- 11:51Speaker 1: a bargain, but hair care is something that I won't
- 11:55Speaker 1: skimp on. I've tried some of the more affordable options,
- 11:58Speaker 1: and there are some good out there, but nothing compares
- 12:02Speaker 1: to the salon quality products in my opinion, especially with
- 12:07Speaker 1: my big head of hair that has a lot of
- 12:09Speaker 1: heat and bleach damage to it. I think investing in
- 12:12Speaker 1: your hair care is really important and taking care of
- 12:16Speaker 1: the health of your hair. My personal favorite is De Lorenzo,
- 12:20Speaker 1: so I've recently got al onto them as well. So
- 12:24Speaker 1: I've been using their Equilibrium hair mask and then also
- 12:27Speaker 1: their cleanser shampoo for years.
- 12:30Speaker 2: They're about like.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Fifty to sixty dollars per bottle, depending on where you
- 12:33Speaker 1: can get them. You can get them cheaper from hair
- 12:35Speaker 1: supplies and stuff, but it is so worth it.
- 12:40Speaker 4: And so I've been having a cute mentv over the
- 12:43Speaker 4: last couple of months because my hair has just gone
- 12:46Speaker 4: to pits.
- 12:47Speaker 3: It's just been like whoo. Honestly, a horse would.
- 12:49Speaker 4: Walk past and be like, yeah, that was like a
- 12:53Speaker 4: tasty little snack, and I'd be like, no horse gets away,
- 12:56Speaker 4: that's my hair and it goes hi. So you know,
- 13:00Speaker 4: I needed something and I did always and I do
- 13:04Speaker 4: really like Bondai Boost.
- 13:05Speaker 3: I think it's really good.
- 13:07Speaker 4: But Sal's hair is always really beautiful, and I'm like,
- 13:11Speaker 4: hell when I know that you diet lighter and straighten
- 13:14Speaker 4: it pretty much every day, and I.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Don't feel like I do that. So I was like,
- 13:18Speaker 3: how is this happening?
- 13:19Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 13:20Speaker 3: And so then I was kind of tossing up whether.
- 13:23Speaker 4: Or not I went back to Bondai Boost, which I
- 13:24Speaker 4: knew worked, or if I tried De Lorenzo. And I
- 13:27Speaker 4: was in Priceline and I was about to buy Bondai
- 13:30Speaker 4: Boost and I think it was about thirty two dollars
- 13:33Speaker 4: for a bottle of two fifty meals, and then I
- 13:37Speaker 4: looked up the deal Renzo and it's fifty dollars for
- 13:42Speaker 4: a Lita. Yeah, So in terms of value for money,
- 13:46Speaker 4: I was like, I'm going to get the Dealer Renzo.
- 13:48Speaker 4: Even though it's cheaper, the actual amount of product that
- 13:52Speaker 4: I get versus the price is ten times better.
- 13:54Speaker 3: And I've used it three times incredible.
- 13:58Speaker 4: My hair feels so clean, so soft, the way that
- 14:01Speaker 4: it dries, it doesn't have the frieze, and I feel
- 14:04Speaker 4: like the dead ends that I have obviously like there's
- 14:07Speaker 4: only so much that can be done for them until
- 14:09Speaker 4: they're chopped, but they're so much better. Yeah, that it's
- 14:13Speaker 4: completely worth it. Also, Kateen completely worth the height. Tried
- 14:17Speaker 4: that bit the bullet and bought that. I've got the
- 14:19Speaker 4: kteen and the Deer Renzo in one week my bank
- 14:21Speaker 4: account was like girl and was one thousand percent worth it.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I love the Kateen as well.
- 14:27Speaker 4: Especially in Australia we have a really harsh sun. You're
- 14:29Speaker 4: swimming in the ocean a lot, you're probably tying your
- 14:32Speaker 4: hair up a lot.
- 14:34Speaker 3: You need to give some TLC back to them strands.
- 14:36Speaker 4: Yes, all right, moving on to our next one is shoes.
- 14:43Speaker 3: So shoes you're gonna be wearing them every day.
- 14:46Speaker 4: And we're not saying this for every single pair of
- 14:49Speaker 4: shoes that you have, but your shoes that you are
- 14:52Speaker 4: going to be wearing every day, which we mean your sneakers,
- 14:56Speaker 4: your boots, maybe your go to a pair of ha
- 15:00Speaker 4: heels if you wear heels a lot. So and I
- 15:02Speaker 4: don't really wear heels too much because we just hate
- 15:06Speaker 4: it now like our feet can't we can't hack it.
- 15:09Speaker 4: I am a hobbling hunchback when I wear heels. I'm like,
- 15:14Speaker 4: So it is for comfort and quality, And don't buy
- 15:19Speaker 4: like designer label or trendy pieces because you will get
- 15:24Speaker 4: over them. Remember the Jeffrey Campbell boots, we all wanted them.
- 15:28Speaker 4: Where are they now?
- 15:30Speaker 2: Had like five pairs long gone.
- 15:33Speaker 4: I think there's nothing wrong with buying a trend piece
- 15:36Speaker 4: if you genuinely like it, if you feel like you
- 15:39Speaker 4: were going to wear that once it's not in trend anymore.
- 15:42Speaker 4: But I don't think that's very likely for most of us.
- 15:45Speaker 4: And there are shoes that I have now that I
- 15:47Speaker 4: have had four years. Like I've got a pair of
- 15:49Speaker 4: just brown leather slides that I have had since I
- 15:52Speaker 4: was maybe nineteen. They definitely need an update, but I've
- 15:56Speaker 4: had them for what seven years?
- 16:00Speaker 3: Still kicking, they don't. They don't look brand new.
- 16:03Speaker 4: But to be able to have one pair of shoes
- 16:05Speaker 4: for seven years and them not break amazing, Yeah, like
- 16:08Speaker 4: the soul not come off, or like the leather not
- 16:11Speaker 4: snap or whatever, or you just.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Get over them as well, yeah, I agree.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Like I have a pair of Platform Doc Martins that
- 16:18Speaker 1: I would have bought in probably twenty eleven, so the
- 16:22Speaker 1: same year that I would have been buying a pair
- 16:24Speaker 1: of those Jeffrey Campbell Leaders.
- 16:26Speaker 2: And I still have those Dock Martins and they're still
- 16:28Speaker 2: kicking again.
- 16:30Speaker 1: They need an upgrade, for sure, they've seen some things,
- 16:33Speaker 1: but so durable and again, like it's not a trend piece.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Docs are always going to be the vibe love okay
- 16:42Speaker 1: number four experiences.
- 16:45Speaker 2: So this can go for a lot of different things.
- 16:47Speaker 1: But I really do believe in investing in your core
- 16:51Speaker 1: memories in life. I think that your money is so
- 16:55Speaker 1: better invested in something that you can spend with, like
- 17:00Speaker 1: your friends or your family, as opposed.
- 17:02Speaker 2: To a piece of clothing or something.
- 17:05Speaker 1: So we always say that when you're going traveling, for example,
- 17:08Speaker 1: and you're trying to figure out where to put your budget,
- 17:10Speaker 1: I personally would go for the budget airline, maybe the
- 17:14Speaker 1: cheaper hotel room, but then go all out for experiences
- 17:18Speaker 1: like go do that dolphin tour, Go do the hang gliding,
- 17:22Speaker 1: you know, go do the snorkeling, whatever it is, because
- 17:26Speaker 1: those memories are what you will look back on fondly,
- 17:30Speaker 1: not the hotel room you stayed in, Like it is
- 17:33Speaker 1: so so worth it, especially now post COVID, we.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Can really get out there and explore.
- 17:38Speaker 1: And I would say the same for things also at home,
- 17:41Speaker 1: so concerts, art exhibitions, whatever, you know, start putting some
- 17:46Speaker 1: money into making memories.
- 17:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I think, like soul on, my mentality whenever we've
- 17:50Speaker 4: gone on holidays is we're barely going to spend any
- 17:52Speaker 4: time in the room anyway. So definitely a priority is safety.
- 17:56Speaker 4: We want to make sure we're in a hotel that's safe,
- 17:59Speaker 4: or the flight, you know, there's not a good chance
- 18:01Speaker 4: that they're gonna get canceled or mess us around or
- 18:03Speaker 4: whatever that is. And once kind of that bare minimum
- 18:06Speaker 4: is met, we're like, all right, well we.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Don't need to get like the King Sweet yeah, or
- 18:11Speaker 1: like the premium economy.
- 18:12Speaker 3: No, we're good, it's fine. Would love it.
- 18:15Speaker 4: Of course if I could afford If I could afford
- 18:17Speaker 4: business class, I would have no problems in life. I
- 18:20Speaker 4: know that i'd need to start doing that, like bid
- 18:23Speaker 4: on business class. But the minimum is like four hundred
- 18:27Speaker 4: and did fifty bucks.
- 18:29Speaker 3: That's it.
- 18:30Speaker 2: They're like, no, they're like, girls, please back to coach
- 18:35Speaker 2: with you.
- 18:35Speaker 4: Yeah, and you know what, it's fine. It gets the
- 18:38Speaker 4: job done. Pop a sleeping tablet.
- 18:40Speaker 3: Put the medical advice, don't do that.
- 18:45Speaker 4: Hit.
- 18:46Speaker 3: But yeah, I feel like it's not that bad.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it's you're definitely better off spending money on experiences
- 18:52Speaker 1: that you'll remember forever.
- 18:54Speaker 4: Like Hawaii was so expensive, but I.
- 18:58Speaker 2: Did every experience under this.
- 19:00Speaker 4: We were supposed to have a relaxing holiday and then anyway,
- 19:02Speaker 4: every day ends up doing like three different things and
- 19:04Speaker 4: making seventy two friends.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Ahh yeah, it was the best.
- 19:08Speaker 3: Ah okay, next one, all right, Next one is to
- 19:12Speaker 3: create a capsule wardrobe.
- 19:14Speaker 4: If you have a TikTok account or a social media platform,
- 19:18Speaker 4: you have very.
- 19:19Speaker 3: Likely heard of a capsule wardrobe.
- 19:20Speaker 4: Basically, the concept is picking out kind of neutral pieces
- 19:25Speaker 4: that can really mix and match with each other. And
- 19:28Speaker 4: this is really great because you're going to save money,
- 19:31Speaker 4: you're not going to be shopping buying things, and then
- 19:33Speaker 4: you're like, I've got nothing to.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Wear that with and it's so so helpful.
- 19:38Speaker 4: Ever since, I kind of went in with that mindset
- 19:40Speaker 4: of you know, going through a Pinterest board, creating kind
- 19:43Speaker 4: of looks with similar pieces and creating my capsule wardrobe.
- 19:46Speaker 3: From that, that's great.
- 19:47Speaker 4: I feel like as well, everyone's capsule wardrobe looks different.
- 19:51Speaker 4: You don't have to have the exact same pieces in
- 19:53Speaker 4: a capsule wardrobe as someone else.
- 19:56Speaker 3: What yours is is yours.
- 19:57Speaker 4: That's fine, but build that out and understand and maybe
- 20:00Speaker 4: what you'll kind of like share Horowitz kind of tablets
- 20:05Speaker 4: scroll through thing is for you. And there's five ways
- 20:09Speaker 4: of caps of wardrobe is gonna save you money. One
- 20:12Speaker 4: you're gonna stick to a color palette and also one
- 20:14Speaker 4: that's probably complements your features. Two, you'll buy better quality,
- 20:19Speaker 4: so you're going to shop less, but buy quality and investment.
- 20:24Speaker 4: Statement wardrobe pieces made from more durable materials, which means
- 20:28Speaker 4: they're gonna last you longer.
- 20:29Speaker 3: Similar to what we're saying about the shoes.
- 20:31Speaker 4: If you buy a white T shirt, but you kind
- 20:34Speaker 4: of invest the money to get a good one that's
- 20:37Speaker 4: one hundred percent cotton, and to be honest, you can
- 20:39Speaker 4: get them from like Unique Lolough or H and M
- 20:42Speaker 4: and they're great and they're not expensive that's gonna last
- 20:45Speaker 4: few years compared to one that's made of polyester.
- 20:48Speaker 3: Yeah, and is like ten dollars.
- 20:51Speaker 2: That you just get you're gonna end up stinky to
- 20:53Speaker 2: a girl. Yeah, then poly blends they will get in.
- 20:56Speaker 3: Yeah, they make you stinky. Girl.
- 20:58Speaker 4: There's no breathing for yours and you can mix and match.
- 21:04Speaker 3: You'll realize how much you've got.
- 21:05Speaker 4: I feel like we always have those moments where you
- 21:07Speaker 4: kind of empty out your whole wardrobe on your floor.
- 21:10Speaker 3: You're having a mental breakdown and.
- 21:11Speaker 4: You're like, I've got nothing to wear every time, every time,
- 21:15Speaker 4: and you'll think about your purchases for longer. You'll think, Okay,
- 21:18Speaker 4: how does this fit into my wardrobe? How does this
- 21:20Speaker 4: kind of go with my other outfits? And if you
- 21:23Speaker 4: can't answer that question, I feel like you know whether
- 21:26Speaker 4: or not it's worth purchasing that item.
- 21:29Speaker 3: So just maybe maybe have a.
- 21:30Speaker 4: Little brainstorm about what you want for your caps Are
- 21:32Speaker 4: wardrobe for winter. Now that we're going into it, we're
- 21:34Speaker 4: in an autumn think about your caps Are wardrobe for winter.
- 21:37Speaker 3: If you want to know what to buy, it's.
- 21:38Speaker 2: A leather jacket.
- 21:39Speaker 3: M any day of the week.
- 21:41Speaker 1: We had a chick come into our DMS asking for
- 21:45Speaker 1: a winter jacket.
- 21:46Speaker 2: What's the one winter jacket that she should buy?
- 21:48Speaker 1: And we were like, a leather jack leather jacket one
- 21:50Speaker 1: thousand percent and get it secondhand from eBay, Deepop, Facebook,
- 21:55Speaker 1: Marketplace or a market and go for real leather.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Just say number six.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Prescription glasses if you need them, if you need them.
- 22:06Speaker 1: So I recently found out that I do need glasses.
- 22:09Speaker 2: It's a big change for me.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Over I recently found but hasn't been able to see
- 22:15Speaker 3: for years.
- 22:16Speaker 2: That's not true.
- 22:17Speaker 3: You couldn't see, did you know?
- 22:20Speaker 2: You know it's true.
- 22:21Speaker 1: It was post COVID, all right, It literally happened during lockdown.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Then. I remember the first day we were allowed to leave, I.
- 22:27Speaker 1: Was going to meet Al in the office left and
- 22:29Speaker 1: I looked up at the train sign to see when
- 22:32Speaker 1: the train was coming, and I was like, what the
- 22:34Speaker 1: fuck is going on?
- 22:35Speaker 2: And I couldn't see.
- 22:36Speaker 4: I feel like it was before then, because I remember
- 22:38Speaker 4: when we're in America, how we missed that flight?
- 22:41Speaker 1: Was the game of that That was the crippling fucking hangover.
- 22:46Speaker 1: That wasn't the glass mate. That's a different problem. I
- 22:49Speaker 1: was still working with that one isn't resolved quite yet.
- 22:53Speaker 2: But anyways, since.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Then, I was like, Okay, I'm going to get a prescription,
- 22:56Speaker 1: going to be a big girl, get some glasses, and
- 23:00Speaker 1: I was going to go for a cheaper version. I
- 23:02Speaker 1: was going to go, you know, maybe down to Schmechshmaber's
- 23:06Speaker 1: and get a more affordables and I will handle no
- 23:10Speaker 1: specsaver in this studio today and all loves them, right.
- 23:15Speaker 2: So here's the thing. It can vary depending on what
- 23:17Speaker 2: you want.
- 23:18Speaker 1: But I was like, I need something durable that I'm
- 23:20Speaker 1: gonna wear every day, and I went to OPSM and
- 23:23Speaker 1: I splurged on a pair of RayBan glasses.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Which were great. Don't regret it.
- 23:30Speaker 1: You know, I've had them for eighteen months or something
- 23:32Speaker 1: now and they're working well. But we also found a
- 23:37Speaker 1: really cool brand called kits I Wear, so they actually
- 23:41Speaker 1: reached out to us on Instagram and this isn't spawned.
- 23:44Speaker 1: There was no obligation to post or anything, but they
- 23:47Speaker 1: did gift us some glasses. So they gifted us a
- 23:51Speaker 1: pair of prescription glasses and also sunglasses too. But you
- 23:56Speaker 1: can get your first pair for free using a promo
- 23:59Speaker 1: code free kits I'll put it in the show notes
- 24:02Speaker 1: as well. But those were really affordable, but also it
- 24:06Speaker 1: was a great way to get two pairs of glasses
- 24:09Speaker 1: basically for the price of wine. So there are lots
- 24:11Speaker 1: of places that do like two for one or you know,
- 24:14Speaker 1: buy one, get one fifty percent off. But I think
- 24:17Speaker 1: for a pair of glasses that you're going to be
- 24:18Speaker 1: wearing every day and a good for your eyesight, it's
- 24:22Speaker 1: worth investing the money for sure.
- 24:25Speaker 4: And number seven, which is kind of off the back
- 24:27Speaker 4: of that, is to invest in a pair of polarized sunglasses.
- 24:31Speaker 4: So polarized sunglasses can be very expensive depending where you're
- 24:36Speaker 4: buying them from, but there are also a bunch of
- 24:38Speaker 4: affordable options. Key Eye Wear do polarized sunglasses for a
- 24:43Speaker 4: lot cheaper than you can maybe get from I don't know, Rayband,
- 24:46Speaker 4: for example, they can be upwards of two hundred and
- 24:48Speaker 4: seventy dollars, and then Key is a lot more of
- 24:51Speaker 4: affordable option. But as well, we went outlet shopping at
- 24:55Speaker 4: DFO and we both got a pair of polarized sunglasses
- 24:58Speaker 4: for twenty five dollars, So you don't need to be
- 25:02Speaker 4: forking out a lot of money to be getting these,
- 25:06Speaker 4: but it makes the biggest difference whenever I wear a
- 25:08Speaker 4: pair of non polarized sunglasses and I put on someone's
- 25:11Speaker 4: sunglasses that are polarized, I'm like Dago like that is
- 25:15Speaker 4: some good shit. Yeah, and I think as well as
- 25:18Speaker 4: fun as it is having a bunch of sunglasses that
- 25:21Speaker 4: you can mix a match and accessorise, which I fully
- 25:24Speaker 4: support for kind of like every day when you go
- 25:27Speaker 4: on holidays or when you go to the beach, having
- 25:30Speaker 4: your like trusty pair of polarized Sonnies is completely worth it.
- 25:35Speaker 2: It's a game changer mm hmm. Takes the choice paralysis out,
- 25:38Speaker 2: which we love. H okay.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Number eight is an iced coffee tumblr and or glass
- 25:46Speaker 1: straw an upset. I mean a lot of the time
- 25:50Speaker 1: you can go to cafes and they will give you
- 25:52Speaker 1: a cheaper price when you bring your own cart, which
- 25:54Speaker 1: we love. And it's better for the environment as well
- 25:56Speaker 1: if you're not churning through plastic coffee cups every single
- 25:59Speaker 1: day and you just have the one and the one
- 26:01Speaker 1: that I have, which Al got for me for Christmas,
- 26:04Speaker 1: which was from Pepper mao. I think it was like
- 26:06Speaker 1: thirty bucks or something, but it's amazing.
- 26:09Speaker 3: It's huge, giant, it's bigger than.
- 26:11Speaker 2: My head, which is what I need for my coffee.
- 26:13Speaker 1: But it's also insulated and keeps the ice cubes frozen
- 26:18Speaker 1: for a really long time, which is important because I
- 26:20Speaker 1: order extra ice in my ice coffees as well. And
- 26:24Speaker 1: then the glass straw. Similar thing. In New South Wales,
- 26:29Speaker 1: cafes and restaurants have banned plastic straws and one use plastics.
- 26:33Speaker 2: So invest in a glass straw.
- 26:35Speaker 1: They're so easy to clean and they also feel bougie
- 26:38Speaker 1: as shit.
- 26:38Speaker 3: And paper straws suck.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Yeah, paper straws aren't the vibe. They suck the glass ones.
- 26:44Speaker 4: Yeah, I would saying it's out the other day. I
- 26:46Speaker 4: really want someone to invent like a silicon one. I'm
- 26:48Speaker 4: sure they probably are invented.
- 26:49Speaker 3: But I want to chew a straw again. I really
- 26:52Speaker 3: missed that sensation.
- 26:53Speaker 2: I bet you could get one from Amazona.
- 26:55Speaker 3: I think I will because I really want an error hanging. Okay.
- 27:00Speaker 4: Next up is number nine things to spend your money
- 27:03Speaker 4: on in your twenties Air Tasker.
- 27:05Speaker 3: You are going to save so much time and.
- 27:08Speaker 4: Stress putting the things that you don't want to do
- 27:11Speaker 4: on air Tasker.
- 27:13Speaker 3: I have two examples. Both include a bed. Number one.
- 27:16Speaker 4: My old roommate, Sydney, she had bought a bed and
- 27:19Speaker 4: it was one of those like gas lift beds that
- 27:21Speaker 4: has the storage underneath and are an absolute.
- 27:24Speaker 3: Bitch to build. They suck, especially if you're moving out
- 27:28Speaker 3: of home.
- 27:29Speaker 4: It is an absolute nightmare having to build your couch
- 27:32Speaker 4: and your dining table and your bed. That the mental
- 27:36Speaker 4: strain that it was putting on her to try and
- 27:38Speaker 4: build her bed, she just spit the dummy and was like,
- 27:42Speaker 4: I'm just putting this on air.
- 27:43Speaker 3: Tasker. Pit the dummy the best way because she literally
- 27:46Speaker 3: put the job up.
- 27:48Speaker 4: You determine how much you want to spend on the job,
- 27:51Speaker 4: and then people will do it if they want to
- 27:53Speaker 4: do that. Because there is some sick people out there
- 27:57Speaker 4: that enjoy building furniture.
- 28:00Speaker 3: I don't know, but they like it. And I think
- 28:03Speaker 3: she put it up for fifty bucks. And then this
- 28:05Speaker 3: guy came.
- 28:06Speaker 4: We sat on the couch drinking wine watching Reuporul's drag race,
- 28:09Speaker 4: and he just built her bed for her.
- 28:11Speaker 3: It's stunning, best fifty dollars ever spent. Uh huh.
- 28:14Speaker 4: And my roommate now, Helena is unfortunately moving back to Island. Guys,
- 28:18Speaker 4: I swear I'm not the common denominator. I'm not a nightmare.
- 28:21Speaker 3: To live with. Everyone.
- 28:23Speaker 4: Sidney got a job in New Zealand with Glassons and
- 28:25Speaker 4: then Helena has had visa shit that she's just like.
- 28:29Speaker 3: Yo, what I'm done.
- 28:30Speaker 2: She's returning to the home land.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Yeah, she's going back to the island.
- 28:33Speaker 4: And anyway, she has her brother's mattress that she has
- 28:38Speaker 4: to keep for him because he's moving back, and they
- 28:40Speaker 4: need to get it to her sister's house in like
- 28:43Speaker 4: a couple of suburbs over and to wrap it and
- 28:46Speaker 4: transport it there was going to cost her with a
- 28:49Speaker 4: popular like transport brand, four hundred and fifty dollars to.
- 28:53Speaker 3: Go to suburbs. Oh my god, two suburbs over.
- 28:57Speaker 4: Anyway, she put on an air taskar for one hundred bucks.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Done amazing.
- 29:02Speaker 4: So like, if there's something that you need to do
- 29:05Speaker 4: or that you need done that you either really just
- 29:09Speaker 4: mentally you do not want to do it, or when
- 29:11Speaker 4: you're going with kind of like chain brands and it's
- 29:14Speaker 4: being really expensive, put out a tisk can and see
- 29:17Speaker 4: what you can get. Or Facebook marketplace our favorite, our favorite.
- 29:21Speaker 1: Every time it always comes back to Facebook Marketplace on
- 29:24Speaker 1: this show. Okay, number ten a polaroid or film camera
- 29:31Speaker 1: or an in stas photo printer. So one of the
- 29:36Speaker 1: things that I really miss from our childhoods and the nineties,
- 29:39Speaker 1: and something that I'm kind of jealous of our parents
- 29:41Speaker 1: having is so many physical photos of all of the
- 29:45Speaker 1: amazing memories throughout life. I just think that I take
- 29:50Speaker 1: more photos than ever and then never look at them again.
- 29:55Speaker 1: So I think investing in a polaroid camera or a
- 29:58Speaker 1: film camera is is such a good idea because I
- 30:03Speaker 1: actually look at those photos. So whenever I go on
- 30:05Speaker 1: holidays or to parties, I often will take my polaroid
- 30:08Speaker 1: camera and then I have a little scrapbook that I
- 30:10Speaker 1: put them all in, and I go back and look
- 30:13Speaker 1: through it, like at least every couple of months, way
- 30:15Speaker 1: more than I go back and look through my iPhone gallery.
- 30:19Speaker 1: And you just often get better moments when you're snapping
- 30:22Speaker 1: the photo like on a camera. I feel like people
- 30:24Speaker 1: are more like willing to pose and like be cute
- 30:26Speaker 1: and cheesy when there's a camera out rather than a phone,
- 30:29Speaker 1: And I think it's really important to savor those memories
- 30:32Speaker 1: and honor those memories. Do you have the Instacs photo
- 30:36Speaker 1: printer as well? Yeah, so we both have the in
- 30:38Speaker 1: Stax photo printer, which is this really cool tool that
- 30:43Speaker 1: if you don't have a Polaroid camera. You can print
- 30:45Speaker 1: out photos from your phone using this little printer and
- 30:49Speaker 1: it comes out on pieces of Polaroid film. So then
- 30:53Speaker 1: they have like that cute vintage look and feel. But
- 30:56Speaker 1: then also it makes it easy. You don't have to
- 30:58Speaker 1: go down office works or something and get all your
- 31:00Speaker 1: photos printed out, and you can pop them in a
- 31:02Speaker 1: little scrapbook or in a frame.
- 31:04Speaker 3: I'm into it me too, well, so good to take
- 31:07Speaker 3: notes on.
- 31:08Speaker 2: Have done it, have reviewed them?
- 31:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I literally showed themselves out.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Look at my babies. She was like, I'm great. And
- 31:15Speaker 2: then she turns around. She's like, where's it go? And
- 31:17Speaker 2: I'm like, yes, I was.
- 31:19Speaker 3: Literally taking one home with her.
- 31:21Speaker 5: I was so Sal's book and I'm like, she's got
- 31:25Speaker 5: it in her wallet.
- 31:26Speaker 3: He likes a bit where people have their kids school photos.
- 31:32Speaker 1: I would that's how my dad still has a photo
- 31:35Speaker 1: of me from like year eleven in his wallet.
- 31:37Speaker 2: I'm like, dad, please.
- 31:39Speaker 3: Oh my god. I like bought a like sexy little lingerie.
- 31:43Speaker 4: Set for an evening and I was like really proud
- 31:47Speaker 4: of it. And I sent a photo of it to
- 31:49Speaker 4: sound and I was like, look at what I got.
- 31:51Speaker 4: And Chris had her phone her boyfriend and he went
- 31:54Speaker 4: to go be like, oh, Alex message, you want to
- 31:57Speaker 4: go open it? And he was like, I was like,
- 32:01Speaker 4: it was like the little notification popped up with the
- 32:03Speaker 4: photo preview and he goes, she's it.
- 32:09Speaker 3: I was not.
- 32:09Speaker 4: I was wearing more than i'd been like, because I
- 32:12Speaker 4: had like the full like stockings and shit, more than.
- 32:15Speaker 3: I would when I was wearing swimmers.
- 32:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it was a tiny little pot.
- 32:17Speaker 4: I mean, still not something I would want Chris to
- 32:20Speaker 4: see your dad.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Basically, all right, next one, all right?
- 32:24Speaker 4: Number eleven is for the health, and it's our teeth.
- 32:31Speaker 4: I feel like as well, in our twenties, at some
- 32:34Speaker 4: point in time, we all get kicked off of our parents'
- 32:37Speaker 4: private health insurance. It's a sad day. It's a sad
- 32:40Speaker 4: day that happened. I know it's been extended to thirty,
- 32:44Speaker 4: but a lot of us didn't stay in that bracket.
- 32:47Speaker 4: Got kicked off at twenty five and our parents left
- 32:49Speaker 4: us there.
- 32:50Speaker 2: I got kicked off at twenty one. This is fucking bullshit.
- 32:53Speaker 4: I think I got kicked off at twenty three.
- 32:57Speaker 2: But I have a.
- 32:57Speaker 4: Friend that their parents added them back on. I was like,
- 33:00Speaker 4: what's it like being loved?
- 33:02Speaker 2: Can I get adopted into that family.
- 33:03Speaker 3: Oh it was a little tim of course, it was
- 33:05Speaker 3: a little timate. Yeah, it was our friend Tom. His
- 33:07Speaker 3: name is little Timoth. Long story, you don't want to
- 33:09Speaker 3: know it.
- 33:10Speaker 4: And so I feel like a lot of us start
- 33:13Speaker 4: neglecting those things that aren't covered by Medicare, like going
- 33:17Speaker 4: to the dentist, going for an eye test. Actually artests
- 33:20Speaker 4: are covered by Medicare, but getting your glasses that's kind
- 33:24Speaker 4: of covered by private health insurance or physio. And your
- 33:28Speaker 4: teeth are so so important because as soon as something
- 33:33Speaker 4: goes wrong with your teeth, like if you need a
- 33:36Speaker 4: feeling or your wisdom tooth is playing up, that shit hurts.
- 33:40Speaker 4: And it is so expensive to fix something rather than
- 33:45Speaker 4: to maintain something. And I feel like a lot of
- 33:49Speaker 4: us have avoid going to the dentist, one because it's
- 33:51Speaker 4: not fun, but two because it's going to be a
- 33:53Speaker 4: big bill. However, I have found this site and dentist
- 33:58Speaker 4: called Dental ninety nine, and basically it's ninety nine dollars
- 34:03Speaker 4: to go to the dentist, which is pretty darn cheap.
- 34:06Speaker 4: So it's ninety nine dollars to do your whole check
- 34:09Speaker 4: up and clean my god, and then you can also
- 34:12Speaker 4: book in for like a toothache, and so they kind
- 34:15Speaker 4: of look at the tooth, they'll do your X rays,
- 34:18Speaker 4: give them to you immediately for ninety nine dollars. Yep,
- 34:22Speaker 4: my boyfriend went because he's wisdom of this playing up.
- 34:25Speaker 4: And you book in on an app and you put
- 34:29Speaker 4: in all kind of your medical history, what's the problem,
- 34:32Speaker 4: and your medicare number, and then you just go you
- 34:35Speaker 4: go to the location. It's all around Australia. There's some
- 34:38Speaker 4: in Sydney, Brisbane, wherever you want to go. Just look
- 34:40Speaker 4: up the locations on their website and when you get there,
- 34:43Speaker 4: you scan in via the app. And because there's no receptionist,
- 34:47Speaker 4: which is how they cut costs, so they don't have
- 34:50Speaker 4: things that you know, generally bump up the price because
- 34:54Speaker 4: they have to pay people. It's like you go in
- 34:57Speaker 4: and they're all legit, like it's not some shady backdoor
- 35:01Speaker 4: dentists that's going to like pull your tooth out with
- 35:03Speaker 4: that applies, We're not.
- 35:04Speaker 2: Going to get there.
- 35:04Speaker 1: It's going to be all and I and to lab
- 35:06Speaker 1: con so that applies, being like smile.
- 35:08Speaker 3: Big now, uh huh. So the check up and clean
- 35:12Speaker 3: is ninety nine dollars.
- 35:13Speaker 4: Toothache management is ninety nine dollars and they also do
- 35:16Speaker 4: fillings for one hundred and forty nine and you can
- 35:19Speaker 4: get crowns, which are pretty expensive, but they do it
- 35:24Speaker 4: for one point four k, which you can be paying
- 35:27Speaker 4: in multiple thousands for crowns. So if you are wanting
- 35:31Speaker 4: to go to the dentist but you don't want to
- 35:32Speaker 4: spend a lot of money, I would highly recommend checking
- 35:35Speaker 4: it out.
- 35:35Speaker 3: My boyfriend went and he really liked it.
- 35:37Speaker 4: I haven't personally been by, only ever heard great things
- 35:40Speaker 4: and the reviews all look really good on Google. Two.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Yeah, and you should be going to the dentist once
- 35:45Speaker 1: every six months, and I neglected it for a little
- 35:49Speaker 1: while and then once I started going once every six months.
- 35:52Speaker 2: Like al said, it's.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Definitely cheaper dealing with the maintenance than fixing issues, that
- 35:57Speaker 1: is for sure. Our next one number twelve in Visiline,
- 36:03Speaker 1: So in Bisiline.
- 36:04Speaker 2: Is very expensive.
- 36:06Speaker 1: I paid eight thousand dollars for in Bisline. I also
- 36:10Speaker 1: had braces in high school but didn't get like the
- 36:15Speaker 1: retainer behind my teeth and my teeth move basically immediately,
- 36:19Speaker 1: and they've caused me so many issues, confidence issues, issues
- 36:24Speaker 1: because there's crowding in my teeth, so then you know,
- 36:26Speaker 1: I'm more prone to cavities and things like that or discolouration.
- 36:30Speaker 2: Because of that. And I did a lot of research.
- 36:33Speaker 1: I looked at a lot of the different services, and
- 36:35Speaker 1: there are lots of other services that you can use
- 36:37Speaker 1: that you know, substitutions for braces or you know, orthodonic work.
- 36:41Speaker 2: It's not just the Invisiline brand.
- 36:43Speaker 1: But that's the one that I went with, and it's
- 36:46Speaker 1: the biggest purchase I've ever made in my adult life,
- 36:50Speaker 1: and I do not regret it at all, Like it
- 36:53Speaker 1: has been such a good investment for me, both like
- 36:56Speaker 1: for the health of my teeth.
- 36:57Speaker 2: I've seen improved so much on my dentists always.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Like Goldsda, good job Sally, because I can really get
- 37:02Speaker 1: in there and give them a good clean. And also
- 37:04Speaker 1: I feel so much better about myself because I remember
- 37:08Speaker 1: for so long I was like, oh yeah, like my
- 37:09Speaker 1: smile is you know, like maybe one thing that I
- 37:12Speaker 1: like about myself physically, and then as my teeth started
- 37:16Speaker 1: to change, I was like oh no, and felt really
- 37:20Speaker 1: self conscious about it. And also I was like, fuck,
- 37:22Speaker 1: it looked like a total nerd. For three years in
- 37:25Speaker 1: high school and now for what So if you're considering
- 37:28Speaker 1: in viisline or one of the other substitutions, definitely look
- 37:31Speaker 1: into it because for me personally, it was worth the
- 37:33Speaker 1: investment for sure.
- 37:34Speaker 4: I think we can all relate to that thing of
- 37:36Speaker 4: having braces, not wearing our retainer and then our teeth moved.
- 37:39Speaker 3: So yeah, it's definitely a big purchase. But if you're.
- 37:42Speaker 4: Wanting it, I don't think there's anyone that's ever regretted it.
- 37:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Number thirteen luggage or a good quality overnight bag pretty
- 37:51Speaker 1: self explanatory. Nobody wants a little bobbly wheel, you know,
- 37:54Speaker 1: walking around the airport.
- 37:56Speaker 2: It's annoying. And I also got an amazing.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Overnight bag from Orton at DFO the other week, so
- 38:04Speaker 1: I got it for really good price on sale.
- 38:07Speaker 2: But I got a baby bag, so.
- 38:10Speaker 1: I've been in need of a good overnight bag for
- 38:12Speaker 1: a while now.
- 38:13Speaker 2: And I was like, oh, this bag is so cool.
- 38:15Speaker 2: It's like plush.
- 38:17Speaker 3: It was kind of like a puffer jacket in a bag.
- 38:19Speaker 3: It's really cool.
- 38:20Speaker 2: I was like, this is sick, and then like, was
- 38:22Speaker 2: the right size.
- 38:22Speaker 1: There's lots of pockets, you know, and then I took
- 38:25Speaker 1: it up and the lady was like, okay, so that'll
- 38:27Speaker 1: be blah blah for the baby bag.
- 38:28Speaker 2: And I was like, maybe bag.
- 38:30Speaker 3: Bavy bag. We lost it.
- 38:32Speaker 1: We were piercing ourselves and I pulled it out has
- 38:34Speaker 1: like the little mat and I was like, come on,
- 38:36Speaker 1: our lady, thank you, but it's amazing.
- 38:41Speaker 2: And it was.
- 38:42Speaker 1: You know, it was a little bit more expensive than
- 38:44Speaker 1: what I would have spent on an overnight bag in
- 38:46Speaker 1: the past, but they just last you so much longer
- 38:49Speaker 1: when you invest in a good quality one, and especially
- 38:52Speaker 1: when you're traveling, it's going to be thrown up and
- 38:53Speaker 1: down on a plane and you're stuffing, you know, all
- 38:56Speaker 1: of your knickknacks into it.
- 38:58Speaker 4: A good quality luggage or overnight bag is one thousand
- 39:01Speaker 4: p cent because as well, when you get a cheaper one,
- 39:03Speaker 4: if it breaks on you when you're traveling, it's the worst.
- 39:06Speaker 2: It is the worst.
- 39:07Speaker 4: It's nice just being able to have faith in it.
- 39:09Speaker 4: And again it's kind of a reoccurring theme, but when
- 39:12Speaker 4: you spend more, you get more most of the time.
- 39:16Speaker 4: So when you spend more on your luggage, you will
- 39:19Speaker 4: reap the rewards.
- 39:19Speaker 3: Of that rewards.
- 39:22Speaker 4: Years years, all right, next up is number fourteen, The
- 39:28Speaker 4: odd Bunch.
- 39:30Speaker 3: What is this? You ask, Alex, what are you talking about?
- 39:33Speaker 3: And I will tell you. The odd Bunch is the
- 39:37Speaker 3: wonky vegetables and fruits at Bullies or Coals.
- 39:41Speaker 4: And the reason they're good is because they're exactly the
- 39:44Speaker 4: same as the other tomatoes and carrots and you know,
- 39:48Speaker 4: cucumbers and tomatoes.
- 39:49Speaker 3: I already said tomatoes. Obviously I'm hungry, and they're just
- 39:53Speaker 3: a bit they're just a bit weird.
- 39:54Speaker 2: They just look a little funky.
- 39:55Speaker 4: They just a bit you know, chunky bunky, or they
- 39:59Speaker 4: you know, go to the side a little bit.
- 40:01Speaker 3: And there's nothing different about them.
- 40:04Speaker 2: They don't taste different.
- 40:05Speaker 3: They don't taste different. They don't. They're not off, they're
- 40:08Speaker 3: not moldy. But they're cheaper.
- 40:10Speaker 4: That's the only thing you can get, like a bag
- 40:13Speaker 4: of onions or a bag of tomatoes for like half
- 40:17Speaker 4: the price of the normal groceries. And with inflation and
- 40:20Speaker 4: with how expensive shit is getting, this is so valuable.
- 40:25Speaker 4: If you go on the Metro sixty app, you can
- 40:28Speaker 4: literally type in the odd Bunch and it'll show you
- 40:31Speaker 4: all the discounted groceries that you can buy at that price.
- 40:36Speaker 4: Just because maybe that Carrotsky's a little to the left.
- 40:39Speaker 3: There's men listening to this being like.
- 40:41Speaker 2: Are we still talking about carrots Oh I'm not alert. Yeah,
- 40:46Speaker 2: I love it.
- 40:47Speaker 1: I always off for the odd bunch anyway, because I
- 40:49Speaker 1: think of it like they're the puppies at the pound
- 40:51Speaker 1: that are left behind that maybe look a little bit
- 40:53Speaker 1: wonky and nobody wanted.
- 40:55Speaker 2: So I always go for the odd bunch.
- 40:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 40:57Speaker 4: I think they're really cute cartoon and they're really like yeah, yeah,
- 41:03Speaker 4: we love it all right. Number fifteen a fitness membership
- 41:09Speaker 4: of some kind that you're actually going to use. So
- 41:12Speaker 4: we know the importance of moving our body on our
- 41:14Speaker 4: mental health. And obviously if you just like going for hot,
- 41:19Speaker 4: girly walks gorgeous, you have.
- 41:21Speaker 3: To spend money.
- 41:22Speaker 4: However, I think there is a beauty in finding the exercise.
- 41:25Speaker 3: That you really enjoy.
- 41:27Speaker 4: We know that studies show exercising in groups really helps
- 41:31Speaker 4: that release of endorphins and you get the most out
- 41:33Speaker 4: of moving your body, and so I think finding that
- 41:36Speaker 4: exercise that.
- 41:37Speaker 3: You really enjoy.
- 41:39Speaker 4: I really like pilates, and I do really like a
- 41:41Speaker 4: hit class, and so finding kind of places that I
- 41:44Speaker 4: can do that so for me, I can get both
- 41:46Speaker 4: of those from Fitness First, so that's where I'm going
- 41:48Speaker 4: to spend my money. But if you know that you
- 41:50Speaker 4: really like boxing, you can go on class Pass.
- 41:54Speaker 3: That kind of gives you the option to try out
- 41:57Speaker 3: different things as well.
- 41:59Speaker 4: So class Pass and mind Body are both two apps
- 42:02Speaker 4: that you can pay a certain amount a month and
- 42:04Speaker 4: you get like tokens and you can book into different classes.
- 42:07Speaker 4: So if you like doing multiple things, you can go
- 42:10Speaker 4: to different studios and do different types of workouts, and
- 42:12Speaker 4: that way you're kind of investing in it. And I
- 42:15Speaker 4: do think when you pay money, that does give a
- 42:18Speaker 4: little bit of motivation.
- 42:19Speaker 3: When you pay money that.
- 42:20Speaker 4: You've booked into that Barry's class that was like forty bucks,
- 42:24Speaker 4: you're like, that was forty bucks.
- 42:26Speaker 2: I've got to go.
- 42:27Speaker 1: When you've got like a little token on the line
- 42:29Speaker 1: and you can't get that back, that is the motivation
- 42:32Speaker 1: that will get you there.
- 42:34Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 42:34Speaker 1: Why it works like that, because even with a gym membership,
- 42:38Speaker 1: you're still paying.
- 42:39Speaker 2: Yeah, there's something about it in the psychology that it'll
- 42:42Speaker 2: make you go trust us.
- 42:43Speaker 4: Yeah, and a lot of the time you won't get
- 42:46Speaker 4: it back if you cancel within a certain period. So
- 42:48Speaker 4: if it's like the morning of and you've booked into
- 42:50Speaker 4: your KX pilates class and you don't want to go
- 42:53Speaker 4: and you pull out of the class, you're not getting
- 42:56Speaker 4: that token back, You're not getting that pass back, so
- 42:59Speaker 4: you just end up going and doing it. So I
- 43:01Speaker 4: do think there's definitely value in that and figuring out
- 43:04Speaker 4: there's value in it, because one you're going to go
- 43:06Speaker 4: do it. But the main value that I'm trying to
- 43:09Speaker 4: communicate here is finding that movement that makes you happy,
- 43:12Speaker 4: and not for any reason you want to look a
- 43:15Speaker 4: certain way, but to purely make you happy.
- 43:19Speaker 2: It's all about how you feel.
- 43:21Speaker 1: Number sixteen alcohol. This one's pretty straightforward. I know in
- 43:25Speaker 1: my early twenties, I was going for the passion pot.
- 43:27Speaker 2: I was going for the goom bags, little Fat Lamb
- 43:30Speaker 2: m HM as the cheaper option.
- 43:32Speaker 1: And I will say that as I earned a little
- 43:34Speaker 1: bit more money and was maybe able to buy the
- 43:37Speaker 1: Gray Goose or the Belvedere or you know, the Seltzer's.
- 43:40Speaker 2: The hangovers are way less.
- 43:42Speaker 1: Gnally, when you are buying better quality alcohol that maybe
- 43:46Speaker 1: costs a little bit more.
- 43:47Speaker 4: The hangovers of Little Fat Lamb should be illegal. I mean,
- 43:51Speaker 4: there's a special place in my heart for a little
- 43:53Speaker 4: fat lamb, but vomiting when I was like eighteen was
- 43:57Speaker 4: not it? Yeah, those things worth the devil's strength.
- 44:02Speaker 2: And straight petrol.
- 44:04Speaker 3: All right.
- 44:05Speaker 4: Moving on, and probably one of the most important things
- 44:08Speaker 4: to spend money on in your twenties for number seventeen
- 44:12Speaker 4: is therapy.
- 44:13Speaker 3: I say this all the time.
- 44:14Speaker 4: I'm the biggest advocate for going to therapy, but there
- 44:17Speaker 4: doesn't need to be something wrong for you to go
- 44:20Speaker 4: to therapy.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Having a sounding board of someone.
- 44:22Speaker 4: Who is completely objective to help guide you through the
- 44:26Speaker 4: rollercoaster that is your twenties is so valuable, whether or
- 44:32Speaker 4: not you were in the right or the wrong, or
- 44:34Speaker 4: just need advice on a situation. Therapy helps take you
- 44:38Speaker 4: out of the situation, take you out of the deep
- 44:40Speaker 4: set of emotions you might be feeling, and allow you
- 44:42Speaker 4: to adjust, learn and grow.
- 44:44Speaker 3: It is incredible.
- 44:45Speaker 4: It is very expensive, and I think that is one
- 44:50Speaker 4: of the things that people pull away from therapy because
- 44:53Speaker 4: they don't want to spend three hundred dollars on a session,
- 44:55Speaker 4: and that is completely valid. But there are multiple resources
- 44:59Speaker 4: that people can use for therapy, and there's also things
- 45:03Speaker 4: that you can claim on Medicare that if you go
- 45:05Speaker 4: on a mental health plan, you can get a subsidy
- 45:07Speaker 4: back of your sessions as well as a lot of
- 45:11Speaker 4: employers have employment assistant programs so you can get a
- 45:14Speaker 4: certain amount of sessions for free.
- 45:16Speaker 3: And if your workplace doesn't have.
- 45:18Speaker 4: That, I really suggest asking them being like, we should
- 45:21Speaker 4: have this.
- 45:22Speaker 3: This would be incredibly valuable.
- 45:24Speaker 4: If they don't turn them to us, we'll talk to them,
- 45:28Speaker 4: we'll beat them up. Just kidding, not really to cract schools. Yeah,
- 45:33Speaker 4: I just think as well, there's only so much you
- 45:35Speaker 4: can rely on your friends and your family, and sometimes
- 45:39Speaker 4: they aren't going to be the best people to give
- 45:41Speaker 4: you advice or be your sounding board because they're not objective.
- 45:45Speaker 3: They're going to either agree.
- 45:47Speaker 4: With you because they love you, or agree with you
- 45:50Speaker 4: because they don't want to hurt your feelings, or they'll
- 45:53Speaker 4: disagree with you because sometimes your friends and your family can.
- 45:56Speaker 3: Be not the best to talk to about it.
- 45:58Speaker 4: So I think it's just really about able to do
- 46:00Speaker 4: that and just set yourself up for success.
- 46:03Speaker 3: In your own mind and your mental health.
- 46:06Speaker 1: Yeah, very important. Leave it to the professionals, yeah us,
- 46:11Speaker 1: Just kidding. Number eighteen an accountant, so none of us
- 46:16Speaker 1: get taught how to deal with our finances in school.
- 46:19Speaker 2: It's very annoying.
- 46:20Speaker 1: But getting a good accountant to help you at tax time,
- 46:24Speaker 1: or if you have a small business or a side hustle,
- 46:27Speaker 1: to help manage your finances throughout the year is so
- 46:30Speaker 1: important and so empowering. We've both used an accountant. We
- 46:33Speaker 1: both have a great accountant for two broke chicks, and
- 46:36Speaker 1: it's just so good to have that person who knows
- 46:39Speaker 1: everything about all of the legislation in and out, and
- 46:43Speaker 1: kind of like therapy. There can be a sounding board
- 46:45Speaker 1: for all of your questions and lead you in the
- 46:47Speaker 1: right direction.
- 46:48Speaker 4: And they have your back, like they're not there with
- 46:51Speaker 4: the government being like how do we get the most tax?
- 46:53Speaker 4: They're getting you the most money because when they get
- 46:55Speaker 4: you more money, they get a cut, they get a
- 46:57Speaker 4: little bit more money, and it's completely worth the value
- 47:00Speaker 4: on that investment.
- 47:01Speaker 3: As well.
- 47:02Speaker 4: I think with working from home structures, it's really important
- 47:07Speaker 4: to know how to do your tax because you can
- 47:09Speaker 4: claim a lot more. But this year, for the financial
- 47:11Speaker 4: year in twenty twenty three, the shortcut method is changing,
- 47:15Speaker 4: and I don't believe you can use that anymore. So
- 47:18Speaker 4: it's actually now more complicated to do your tax, which
- 47:21Speaker 4: I feel like this is why they make it complicated.
- 47:24Speaker 3: So you don't know how to do it.
- 47:25Speaker 4: You just lodge it online and you're like, yeah, okay,
- 47:28Speaker 4: I'll take it or I'll just pay that, And it's
- 47:31Speaker 4: not the way because you really can get more back
- 47:34Speaker 4: from your tax when you go through an accountant.
- 47:36Speaker 3: That is not financial advice. That is just my experience.
- 47:39Speaker 1: That's why you should go to an accountant. Yeah, they
- 47:41Speaker 1: can give you the advice, not us.
- 47:42Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, Number nineteen. Shot Back.
- 47:48Speaker 4: You're very likelihood of shot Back, and we are working
- 47:52Speaker 4: with shot Back this year on our sale cheat sheets,
- 47:55Speaker 4: but we have both been using shot back for years.
- 47:58Speaker 4: If you are unfamiliar with what it is, it is
- 48:01Speaker 4: a service that when you shop online, you click through
- 48:04Speaker 4: shot Back and you get a percentage back on whatever
- 48:07Speaker 4: you've bought online. And there are sometimes insane deals like
- 48:12Speaker 4: you can go on booking dot com and book your
- 48:14Speaker 4: hotel for your holiday and get twelve percent cash back
- 48:17Speaker 4: that when you're booking for a long holiday that can
- 48:19Speaker 4: be like two thousand dollars. It is incredible and you
- 48:24Speaker 4: can use it for the iconic Princess Polly, so many
- 48:27Speaker 4: different retailers Asouce Sephora. The list goes on that it's
- 48:32Speaker 4: absolutely incredible value that it should really just be a
- 48:35Speaker 4: habit because you're not spending you're not even paying shop back,
- 48:39Speaker 4: shop backs paying you.
- 48:40Speaker 3: It's whatever you're spending money on.
- 48:43Speaker 4: Start using that as a habit in your online shopping and.
- 48:47Speaker 3: You will see the little bits that go into your
- 48:50Speaker 3: shop back account. Take that out it stunning.
- 48:53Speaker 1: It all adds up, and use it during sale events
- 48:55Speaker 1: because then not only saving money on the discounts, but
- 48:58Speaker 1: then you're getting cash back on top of it.
- 49:00Speaker 2: It's a no brainer.
- 49:02Speaker 4: And number twenty is to stop using ninety eight petrol
- 49:06Speaker 4: if you don't need it. So, depending on the car
- 49:10Speaker 4: you own, fueling up with ninety eight octane can result
- 49:13Speaker 4: in increased performance that will see you produce a little
- 49:16Speaker 4: extra power when compared to lower octane petrol like ninety
- 49:20Speaker 4: one or ninety five. But ninety eight is the most expensive.
- 49:24Speaker 4: All petrol is very expensive, especially right now, it's very depressing.
- 49:28Speaker 4: But if you're driving something older, which most of us
- 49:31Speaker 4: are in our twenties, that hasn't been tuned to run
- 49:35Speaker 4: on high octane you'll likely see no tangible benefit. So
- 49:39Speaker 4: if you're driving an older car that's been modeled for
- 49:42Speaker 4: ninety one or ninety five octane, you don't actually get
- 49:46Speaker 4: the benefits as like driving with ninety eight. So there's
- 49:50Speaker 4: not really a point to putting it in your car.
- 49:54Speaker 1: It doesn't paying extra for nothing, You're not getting any
- 49:57Speaker 1: benefit exactly.
- 49:59Speaker 4: So I would say, look at the model of your car,
- 50:02Speaker 4: look up if you need to be using ninety eight
- 50:04Speaker 4: or if your car is going to really benefit from it,
- 50:07Speaker 4: and if not.
- 50:07Speaker 3: Just put ninety five in it.
- 50:09Speaker 2: Who cares?
- 50:10Speaker 4: Yeah, we're not in fast and furious vin Diesel mode, vroom, Okay,
- 50:16Speaker 4: we're not our pe skirts skirting around.
- 50:18Speaker 3: We're fine.
- 50:18Speaker 2: Okay. Next one, jewelry.
- 50:22Speaker 1: So we've spoken a lot about fashion shoes, but also
- 50:26Speaker 1: jewelry is something that I like to invest, you know,
- 50:30Speaker 1: good money, moderate money in because we've all had that
- 50:34Speaker 1: jewelry you know, in our twenties that turns your hands
- 50:37Speaker 1: green or tarnishes after a couple of weares and it's
- 50:41Speaker 1: just not worth it. So I love finding small, local
- 50:44Speaker 1: designers that can create custom pieces that I will wear forever,
- 50:49Speaker 1: that are made of good quality materials, that warn't tarnish
- 50:53Speaker 1: that look better with age. And then also you're supporting
- 50:56Speaker 1: a small business which is really cool, and getting a
- 50:57Speaker 1: really unique piece as well. I definitely recommend for yourself
- 51:01Speaker 1: and also for gifts too.
- 51:03Speaker 4: All Right, and last, but not least, number twenty two
- 51:07Speaker 4: things to spend money on in your twenties. It is
- 51:10Speaker 4: a bougie purchase, fair warning, but it is the Samsung
- 51:14Speaker 4: Freestyle Projector.
- 51:16Speaker 3: I've spoken about having.
- 51:17Speaker 4: A projector on the podcast before, and I kind of
- 51:20Speaker 4: stopped using it. I'm so sorry, because it was one
- 51:24Speaker 4: of the cheaper models that you can just get on Amazon,
- 51:26Speaker 4: and honestly, it was pretty good, but it was such
- 51:29Speaker 4: a ball ake to set it up sometimes, like you
- 51:32Speaker 4: had to get all the.
- 51:32Speaker 3: Cords and link it to your laptop.
- 51:35Speaker 4: And then I just ended up stop using it because
- 51:37Speaker 4: I couldn't be bothered to go through that whole process.
- 51:39Speaker 4: And then after a while the quality kind of dipped.
- 51:42Speaker 4: When I first got it, I was like, this is amazing.
- 51:45Speaker 4: I love this, and then after maybe a year, I
- 51:47Speaker 4: was like, oh, okay, but you know what, like we've said,
- 51:50Speaker 4: when you pay cheap rice, you probably get a cheaper
- 51:52Speaker 4: quality product. Anyway, I recently got my hands on the
- 51:56Speaker 4: Samsung Freestyle Projector, and it does retail for twelve hundred dollars.
- 52:00Speaker 4: But this is the best thing in the entire world.
- 52:03Speaker 4: That is not an exaggeration. It is this little compact
- 52:07Speaker 4: projector that is kind of like a cylinder and you
- 52:10Speaker 4: can adjust the sizing of it. I'll put it on
- 52:13Speaker 4: our Instagram story and in the Facebook group.
- 52:15Speaker 3: And it's got a smart TV.
- 52:17Speaker 4: Built into it, so you just turn it on and
- 52:20Speaker 4: you've got your Netflix, your Disney plus, your stand all
- 52:24Speaker 4: of that good stuff already built in. And it auto focuses,
- 52:27Speaker 4: so no matter how close or far away you have
- 52:30Speaker 4: it from the wall, it'll auto set the focus for you.
- 52:33Speaker 4: That you can adjust what size you want it to
- 52:35Speaker 4: go to and it goes up to one hundred inches.
- 52:38Speaker 2: Amazing.
- 52:39Speaker 4: It is so so good, and I've seen it on
- 52:43Speaker 4: sale like eight hundred dollars at some places.
- 52:46Speaker 3: So if you are wanting to know, maybe spend a little.
- 52:49Speaker 4: Bit of a bougie purchase on a projector. I cannot
- 52:53Speaker 4: recommend this product highly enough.
- 52:55Speaker 3: It is amazing. I've watched a Little Mermaid seventeen thousand times.
- 52:58Speaker 2: Mm hmm. Yeah, it's a stamp of approval right there,
- 53:01Speaker 2: that's what we need.
- 53:03Speaker 4: Well, that is a wrap for this episode of Two
- 53:05Speaker 4: Broke Chicks and for this season.
