- 0:00Let's talk about a little bit of Elon Musk controversy going on.
- 0:04There's been a lot going on with Elon lately, especially on the
- 0:08Twitter front and there's some technical things we should talk
- 0:13about. There's some business stuff we
- 0:14need to talk about. And there's also some personal
- 0:17things and one of the most prominent users that has been
- 0:21tracking Elon Musk throughout the time that they've had their
- 0:25account on Twitter, has just been banned for doxxing.
- 0:29And if you're not familiar, Familiar with doxing is it's
- 0:31basically sharing the location or other details of a person
- 0:35with a malicious intent. The account in question is at
- 0:39Elon Jet and I used to use this Twitter account to track and see
- 0:44when Elon Musk was coming to Brownsville Texas.
- 0:47Because when you don't Ilana showing up in Brownsville Texas,
- 0:50it's probably something along the lines of a very important
- 0:54test that they were doing with Starship or maybe he was going
- 0:56there for some other reason that's important deal for space.
- 1:00Sex. So I would use the account every
- 1:01once in a while I'd say. Yeah, elon's coming down to
- 1:03Brownsville and like it didn't really give you real-time
- 1:07tracking information. I give you an approximate time
- 1:10when Ilan would show up since his band.
- 1:12Now you can't see a lot of the older tweets that they had but
- 1:15basically what they would show you is a time would heal on
- 1:17would leave an approximate time when Ilan would show up in
- 1:20Brownsville. So I would deduce from that that
- 1:23Elon was going to be safe. He's going to show up on a
- 1:26Tuesday and I better go elon's gonna be here on the F in the
- 1:28afternoon on Tuesday. And so by the time Elon is here
- 1:32in the afternoon on Tuesday I'll have some news to report
- 1:34probably the next day so I would use it as a tool.
- 1:37Now, something else happened recently in elon's life that was
- 1:42a little bit more malicious according to Elon.
- 1:46And this is his tweet expressing that he was stalked and somebody
- 1:52was malicious towards him due to doxing.
- 1:55According to the rules on Twitter, you are not allowed to
- 1:58Doc's people. You are To show their exact
- 2:01location or the nearby location if they aren't aware of it.
- 2:05So, the account was banned, but also not only that, Not only was
- 2:09the Elan jet account, banned there were several reporters and
- 2:13journalists accounts band. Due to reporting on this issue.
- 2:19The silencing of these prominent voices, raises regulatory heat
- 2:23on Twitter with the EU and possibly elon's other companies
- 2:28including Tesla and SpaceX will. Which is a big recipient of
- 2:31government, funding through the Department of Defense for SpaceX
- 2:34and Tesla for subsidies for EVS. And there were online protest,
- 2:38news organization, the times CNN, various other Publications,
- 2:43and online Outlets, they all demanded Ilan to explain why he
- 2:47did this and supporters of these journalists argued on Twitter
- 2:50that the move was putative at best.
- 2:54Because Elon hasn't provided any proof that these tracking
- 2:59systems. Ilan jet was using were harming
- 3:03him in any way, or anybody else for that matter.
- 3:05And to top it all off, lawmakers in the European Union.
- 3:08May go offensive on this Veer zhirova vice president of the
- 3:13European commission, said, this may have violated the eu's
- 3:17Digital Services act in its freedom, its media Freedom Act.
- 3:21She tweeted news about arbitrary suspension of journalists on
- 3:25Twitter is whirring. This is reinforced under our
- 3:27media, Freedom Act, Elon. Musk should be aware of that.
- 3:31There are red lines and sanctions.
- 3:34Soon, the Digital Services act serves as kind of a rule book
- 3:37for platforms, like Twitter servicing, the the block the EU,
- 3:40it goes into effect next year. And it carries a fine of about
- 3:44six percent of global revenue. For companies that break the
- 3:47rules musk also suspended several other flight tracker
- 3:50Accounts at this time which are dedicated to planes owned by
- 3:54Russian oligarchs or the US government in in a group voice
- 3:58chat on Twitter. Night.
- 4:00And a space is chat. What are the band reporters?
- 4:03Defended the work to Elon Musk. This is where it gets really
- 4:06interesting and they insisted, he didn't publish the Twitter
- 4:09bosses address didn't say anything about a where Ilan was
- 4:13musk got upset and said, no that's not true at all.
- 4:17But then musk left the chat, just left and I want you to hear
- 4:22this because I think you're going to get something out of
- 4:25this. You're going to see how Elon
- 4:26acts when he's confronted by these journalists you want.
- 4:29Thank you for joining. I am hoping that you can give a
- 4:33little more context about what has happened in the last few
- 4:38hours with a handful of journalists being bad.
- 4:41Yeah. Well as I'm sure everyone who's
- 4:43been dachshund would agree. You know drawing real-time
- 4:48information about somebody's equation is inappropriate and I
- 4:52think everyone on this call would not like that to be done
- 4:54for to them and and for their is not going to be any distinction
- 4:57in the future between journalists or will journalist.
- 5:00And and regular people, everyone's going to be treated
- 5:02the same. They're not special because
- 5:03you're a journalist. You're just you're just getting
- 5:05your Twitter during his Jewish citizen.
- 5:07So no special treatment your Doc's.
- 5:09You doc, you get suspended and a story.
- 5:11So and enter the event of an evasion, been evasion or like,
- 5:15or try Greek slabber about like, oh, I posted a link to the
- 5:19real-time information. It's obviously, that is
- 5:22obviously simply trying to evade.
- 5:24The meaning that is there's no different from hidden pastebin
- 5:27actually showing real-time. So when you're saying post, Not
- 5:30linked to it. I mean, some of the people like
- 5:31Drew and, and Ryan Mac and New York Times who were banned were,
- 5:36you know, they were reporting on it in the course of sort of
- 5:40pretty normal journalistic Endeavors.
- 5:43You consider that like a tricky attempt at Bain evasion.
- 5:47You show the link to the real-time information been
- 5:50evasion. Obviously, I drew, I don't think
- 5:53you were posting to real-time information, right?
- 5:57I mean, oh, you're suggesting that we're sharing.
- 5:59Our address, which is not not true.
- 6:03And you're suggesting that we're posting.
- 6:06We never, I never posted your address, they posted links to
- 6:10address. We posted a link week in the
- 6:14course of reporting about Elon jet.
- 6:16We posted links to Ilan jet which are now not online and now
- 6:21banned on Twitter and Twitter. Also, of course marks even the
- 6:25Instagram and Macedon accounts of Eli jet as harmful.
- 6:29Using, you know, we have to admit acknowledge using the same
- 6:33exact link blocking technique that you have criticized as part
- 6:37of the hunter B in New York, Post story and 2020.
- 6:41So what is different? Yeah here.
- 6:43And there for me, it's no more acceptable for me for you.
- 6:47That is for me, same thing. So anyway, so it's unacceptable
- 6:52what? You're doing, know what you
- 6:55Doc's, you get suspended, and the story.
- 6:58That's it. Ilan.
- 7:00I have to ask. I mean, I think what everyone's
- 7:02wondering is it. Highly unusual for journalists
- 7:05at the Washington Post and the New York Times to be Heather.
- 7:08Predacon suspended. And it just so happens that
- 7:11it's, you know, the boss in charge, you know.
- 7:14So you know what's the deal there?
- 7:18I think, I think Ilan has left. The show is brought to you by

- 9:24is really easy to use. So go to back place.com slash
- 9:27Ilan back plays.com Ilan backblaze.com Ilan.
- 9:34I guess that's unfortunate because yeah I mean yes what the
- 9:39difference is that, you know, man, trying to Monique I was
- 9:42raring to go guys and some of the suspected accounts belong to
- 9:45reporters who recently covered or tweeted about the dispute
- 9:49between musk and Elon jet. Now, Ilan, Jet is really miss
- 9:54Jack Sweeney and he's a freshman in Florida and he was tweeting
- 9:58about elon's private jet the approximate location of it.
- 10:02There's public flight data for his jet and it's out there for
- 10:06anybody else to find and to use and post anywhere they want to.
- 10:09But Elon doesn't want it on Twitter.
- 10:11So, think about this for a second, it's a private company
- 10:15in private companies can make their own rules as long as they
- 10:18follow the rule of the land. So, like we were saying before
- 10:21the EU the block. Have some laws coming into the
- 10:24books early next year that will find people and find
- 10:27organizations for this kind of behavior.
- 10:31But also, it's a private company in the United States.
- 10:33So Elon can do whatever he wants to do to make the platform.
- 10:37However, he wants to make it and if he says the doxing and
- 10:40real-time data isn't a good thing on the platform, then sure
- 10:44he can ban those people and he can make a rule that shows that
- 10:47that's not an acceptable use case for the platform.
- 10:51And musk also said, Is that the suspension of these accounts for
- 10:57the journalists had been lifted. Okay, so they've been appealed
- 11:01Ilan Has Lifted the suspensions but also Ilan said they posted
- 11:06my exact real-time location. Basically assassination
- 11:10coordinates in direct violation of Twitter, terms of service,
- 11:14seven day suspension for doxing. Some time away from Twitter is
- 11:18good for the soul musk said in the later tweet.
- 11:21But In coordinates because a jet was being tracked.
- 11:29I don't know if he was going a little bit above and that if you
- 11:34know what I'm saying, if he's talking about, you know, he was
- 11:37afraid for his life, you know, somebody literally jumped on the
- 11:40car of his child during this whole Fiasco.
- 11:45That was the Elan jet Fiasco and they rattled around a little bit
- 11:50and then Elon, which is a funnier thing.
- 11:52Not even funny. This is kind of a, it's a, it's
- 11:55a horrible thing to do to somebody.
- 11:57He basically doxxed a person, his own Twitter account with 150
- 12:02million followers, but Elon posted a video on his Twitter
- 12:06account of somebody sitting in their car, they had a mask on.
- 12:10They had a, you know, they had a hat and a mask on there were
- 12:12dressed in black. He didn't have any proof that
- 12:14this person was doing anything wrong, but he posted this
- 12:18person's likeness and not only that their license plate.
- 12:23Number on his Twitter account and said and asked if anybody
- 12:27had any information about this person so he's basically asking
- 12:32somebody else to Doc's this person for him.
- 12:34Hey do you have any information about this person and if you do
- 12:37send it over to me if that's not something that we should be
- 12:42informed about and aware about and think about and a little bit
- 12:46broader context? I don't know what it is.
- 12:49So the little bit more context about the the rattling.
- 12:52I of Elon and his child. I'll get into that in one
- 12:56second. And in order to run suspend, all
- 13:00of these accounts Ilan posted a poll on Twitter.
- 13:04Now, this is where it gets a little bit more interesting to
- 13:06posted a poll on Twitter to his 141 million followers.
- 13:11The pool was unsuspended accounts.
- 13:13Who doxxed, my exact location in real time.
- 13:18Now, there's four answers here. Now tomorrow, seven days from
- 13:23now and longer. Forty-three percent voted for
- 13:30now, four percent voted for tomorrow.
- 13:32Fourteen percent voted for seven days from now and 39 percent
- 13:37voted for longer. So, seven days from now in
- 13:41longer, got the most amount of votes together and now in
- 13:44tomorrow is equal to 47 percent. So seven days from now in longer
- 13:48have more than 50%. So people thought that maybe
- 13:52people should be banned for a little bit longer then a day or
- 13:56two. To, you know, so Ilan posted
- 13:59that and he apparently didn't like the way that that turned
- 14:04out. He'd I guess he didn't like the
- 14:05way that the pole ran and it wasn't, you know, we don't
- 14:08really have any back-end information to see what Ilana
- 14:11was thinking with this pole. If he should have made it easier
- 14:14but he did, he made it easier, he made it easier into a pole
- 14:19with just two question or two answers here, so, as opposed to
- 14:24the four he did two answers. One was Now in one was in seven
- 14:28days in the Tweet said, unsuspended accounts who docks
- 14:31my exact location in real time. The first answer is now in the
- 14:37second is in seven days. Now got 58 percent, fifty point,
- 14:43seven percent of the votes it in seven days got forty one point,
- 14:47three percent of the votes so now one easily with fifty eight
- 14:52point seven percent of the votes so in that was December 15th.
- 14:5618, 20 22. It 11:34 p.m. and we have a
- 15:02verdict for this. Everybody has been on band that
- 15:06has been suspended for doxing, his exact location in real time
- 15:11as Elon puts it. He even put it in quotes.
- 15:14He just put it as my exact location in real time.
- 15:17And remember these see his assassination coordinates as he
- 15:21put them and he wants to unsuspended them now.
- 15:24Does that seem safe to you? This thing?
- 15:26But that for a second, if these people are going to really docks
- 15:28you of Elon thinks that there's a harm being done by these
- 15:30people. Would he unsuspended them
- 15:34critical think that for a second if you know, people are out to
- 15:38get you would you unsuspended them now or in seven days or
- 15:43ever? So he left it up to the voting
- 15:45on Twitter, the, which I don't know if you trust that.
- 15:48There were three point six, nine zero, six three nine votes.
- 15:55Three point six nine Million votes on this and 58.7% said,
- 15:59yes. Now do it.
- 16:00So we learn said, okay, we're going to do it.
- 16:02So he unbanned those accounts, those people that were tweeting,
- 16:06his exact assassination coordinates.
- 16:10So, and I say this, as somebody who likes to think of both sides
- 16:15of things, you know, it in something like this, you have to
- 16:17be journalistic about a, you have to think of both sides of
- 16:20it were these journalists thinking.
- 16:23Look, we're just reporting on a story.
- 16:26You know, this is going to grab headlines.
- 16:27This is going to make us some money.
- 16:29This is going to drive people to our article, which is going to
- 16:33bump up our numbers. We can keep our jobs for a
- 16:35little bit, you know, that's kind of how journalism has
- 16:37always gone. There are journalistic in
- 16:41integral parts of our communities, right?
- 16:44So we have people that just report the news, no spin no
- 16:48catchy, headlines, just a picture of the thing that's
- 16:51going on or a video of the thing that's going.
- 16:53On and facts, right? Or you can write about some
- 16:59stuff with some crazy headlines and a crazy content that will
- 17:04get a bunch of clicks and these people were reporting on the
- 17:09Elan jet account and saying, yeah, okay.
- 17:12He's following his bid following Elon for the longest time but
- 17:16also in an earlier tweet about three months ago, Ilan posted
- 17:21that when he takes control of Twitter.
- 17:24He's not going to or is 34 days ago.
- 17:27I believe less it was about a month ago.
- 17:29He's not going to ban the Elan jet account because why would he
- 17:34is Free Speech, right? Ilan is a proponent of all free
- 17:38speech. Everything should be allowed.
- 17:41And if this data is public data that anybody can go out and get
- 17:48It's literally transmitted over the air waves for pilots and for
- 17:54airports, anybody can tap into this.
- 17:56It's just data, you know. Do you suppress?
- 18:00That's free speech by suspending that account by doxing a
- 18:04location. That's what he wants us is it's
- 18:07a docks of a location. Do you suppress that is free
- 18:10speech if it's free and open data, is that free to use?
- 18:15Is it, you know, it's out there in the airway?
- 18:18Anybody can get it. Think about it for a second.
- 18:21What would you do in this situation?
- 18:23Elon says, it's a, it's a security risk for him and his
- 18:27family. And I totally understand that
- 18:30and I'm not trying to invoke any emotions with anybody here, but
- 18:35If, if it's going to harm you and your family, or anybody
- 18:39else's family, or anybody else's children, anybody's parents,
- 18:43grandparents friends, anything should there be limitations on
- 18:48this? Sort of speech, is that sort of
- 18:51the going into a movie theater or a public place in yelling
- 18:55fire? Is that the same thing?
- 18:57What do you think about that for a moment?
- 18:59Because I'm doing reporting on the incidents that happened.
- 19:03But also this is Is a broader sort of conversation that people
- 19:07should be having about a social media at this time because
- 19:11somebody just took over one of the biggest social media
- 19:13platforms on Earth and now has the reins to it and it has all
- 19:18of the power over and can make kind of arbitrary choices what
- 19:21the rules are. So is this okay to track
- 19:24somebody's plane due to public information, you know can use
- 19:28public information information for that.
- 19:31So that's where e line is that right now?
- 19:33He believes, it's doxing and he unsuspended the accounts who
- 19:37docks his exact location in real time.
- 19:39He unsuspended all of them. So he was true to his word.
- 19:43In that sense, suspended them gave him a little warning and
- 19:46said, hey, don't do this again and those accounts have been
- 19:50published again, they can publish things in their past
- 19:52tweets, if they are doxing, they've been removed.
- 19:54But also if you try to post links to other websites or other
- 20:00apps, Apps that track Ilan jet, there's a new Reddit, there's a
- 20:05new sub Reddit about Elon Jet and it tracks elon's real time
- 20:11in his jet and you cannot post to that anymore because of
- 20:16Twitter's new rules Banning any sort of real time exact location
- 20:21data that you post to Twitter. So just something to think about
- 20:28and on November 9th, Elon Ask tweeted, please note that
- 20:32Twitter will do lots of dumb things in coming months.
- 20:35We will keep what works and change.
- 20:37What doesn't? So you haven't right there from
- 20:40Elan that he said we're going to make mistakes and if you see the
- 20:44Banning of Elon jet or those journalists as a mistake that's
- 20:48a possibility investors in Tesla that are worried about what
- 20:54elon's doing over a Twitter Ilan has promised that Tesla would
- 20:59benefit from his Twitter by out but Wall Street is thinking the
- 21:03other way and he's sick. Some people are Wall Street are
- 21:06thinking that he's using Tesla. as sort of a bank account for,
- 21:13Twitter SEC, filings revealed Elan sold three point six
- 21:17billion dollars in Tesla stock. So analysts have been
- 21:22speculating that this money will help cover Twitter's deficits
- 21:27and that's kind of a concerning thing for a lot of investors.
- 21:31You don't want the head of the company to draw money out of
- 21:35that company and put it into something else that you don't
- 21:40know what this three point six billion dollar or how This 3.6
- 21:43billion dollars is going to make you money, that's what you're in
- 21:47it for, right? So you buy stocks in a company
- 21:49because you want to make money, you want to support their
- 21:51company. Of course, you know, you want to
- 21:53support Tesla and whatever they do.
- 21:56But also, you put money into this company because you want to
- 21:59see a return on your investment. If you put a hundred dollars in
- 22:04Disney in the beginning, you are rich Beyond Compare.
- 22:09And if you're rich, I don't know what the numbers are to be
- 22:11honest with you, but you Have you have a good good amount of
- 22:14money. Now, if you put a thousand
- 22:16dollars two thousand dollars, three thousand dollars twenty
- 22:18thousand dollars into Disney. At the beginning you have a
- 22:21pretty good chunk of change and you know there's there's a bunch
- 22:25of people at these these meetings and these investor
- 22:28meetings that are saying, we don't really like this, we don't
- 22:31understand why you're taking 3.6 billion dollars of your stocks
- 22:35and trading them out, selling them all, and then taking this
- 22:39money, putting into Twitter, which that doesn't have anything
- 22:41to do with Tesla. Why?
- 22:43Why you spend three point six billion dollars of your stock
- 22:46and mind you? This is money that Elon has
- 22:48earned through his his options through the company.
- 22:51So it's his money. But also, these stocks are going
- 22:54out to other people and not being held by Elon at this
- 22:58point. So, this brings the total of
- 23:00Tesla stock. That musk sold this year to
- 23:03twenty three billion dollars. People thinks this is kind of a
- 23:08shake-up because if you take twenty three billion dollars
- 23:11away from, Le and you give to other people, you know, sell to
- 23:15other people. Of course, you're going to make
- 23:17the money, you know, I was going to use that money for things
- 23:19like SpaceX. He's going to use that money for
- 23:22things like Twitter, boring company and his charitable
- 23:25Endeavors, but also this recent 3.6 billion dollars, it was in
- 23:31the same timeframe that Elon took over Twitter.
- 23:35So Elon promised that in the Long Haul Tesla would benefit
- 23:41from his ownership of Bitter though and analysts aren't
- 23:46really on board with that, Dan Ives it wedbush wrote in a
- 23:49report Thursday. That Twitter remains a nightmare
- 23:54for investors because musk has been using quote, Tesla as his
- 23:58own ATM machine to keep funding and quote.
- 24:03So, ATM machine. I've always had a problem with
- 24:05that because ATM means automated automated teller machine, but if
- 24:10you do ATM machine, automated teller machine machine.
- 24:14It's always silly. But I digress, Twitter's author,
- 24:18their stocks down a little bit to.
- 24:20There's some shareholders that are not really happy.
- 24:23The third largest individual, shareholder calls for a new CEO
- 24:28as Twitter continues to take the money away from Tesla.
- 24:32So Ants and Tesla is wearing thin and Elon is spending a lot
- 24:38of his time running Twitter this point but Elon tweeted not so
- 24:41long ago that he is not really in the day-to-day operations of
- 24:47both SpaceX and Tesla this point he does help out he does his
- 24:52thing. Now Ilan has people in charge to
- 24:54do the day-to-day operations for Tesla and SpaceX boring company
- 24:59and neurolink as well. Those companies aren't small.
- 25:02Fast Nimble startups anymore. They're legit companies.
- 25:05They're making millions and billions of dollars hand over
- 25:08fist. So he doesn't need to be there
- 25:11every day sleeping on the floor like you used to because that's
- 25:14something you would do at a start-up.
- 25:15You'd spend all of your time there because you need to make
- 25:18this thing work Tesla's. Third, largest individual
- 25:21shareholder. Kogi on.
- 25:22Leo is calling for a new CEO of Tesla which would allow musk to
- 25:29focus on his other Ventures like SpaceX and Twitter, a Leo said
- 25:34Ilan abandoned Tesla and Tesla has no working CEO, Tesla needs
- 25:39and deserves to have working full-time, CEO.
- 25:43That's what they tweeted on Wednesday and they have a 22
- 25:46point. Seven million share position and
- 25:48Tesla. As of September, it's worth 3.5
- 25:52seven billion dollars. They built their stake in Tesla
- 25:55during the early days of the covid-19 pandemic when the stock
- 25:59traded at a split and adjusted price of about Forty dollars
- 26:03compared to today's 150, some odd dollars and it fluctuates a
- 26:08little bit. It was a hundred and fifty five
- 26:09dollars at the time of this recording has been going down a
- 26:12little bit and Tesla Shares are down 55 percent.
- 26:16Year-to-date in the stock has erased about 225 billion dollars
- 26:20in market value, since must closes deal to buy Twitter in
- 26:25late October, race about 225 billion dollars in market value.
- 26:29And the declined came at the time when the S&P 500 climbed
- 26:34more than three percent up. So, investor concerns a real
- 26:38wedbush Dan Ives called must Twitter Venture, a circus and
- 26:43quote, The Twilight Zone. So Elon is in charge of Twitter
- 26:48taking time away from his time at Tesla and 3.5 billion dollar
- 26:53stake, investor wants more time with Ilan or wants a new CEO.
- 27:01If Elon doesn't want to leave Tesla, he could have another
- 27:05role in the company. Still get a share, still get his
- 27:07money and use that money for Twitter.
- 27:10Use that money for SpaceX every year he takes up money for his
- 27:13Ventures on the side. He's an employee according to,
- 27:18you know, some people in the company, you know, some higher
- 27:21ups, the stuck holders, there they are, the people in charge.
- 27:24They're the people that have all the money invested in Tesla, so
- 27:29if they call for a new CEO, They could get a new CEO.
- 27:32They could, they could force a new CEO, you know, Tesla's
- 27:35grown-up Tesla is a big company. Now, they're a corporation.
- 27:39They make Vehicles Evie's for millions of people now, and it's
- 27:46a thing to be in the business and to be in charge of the
- 27:50business and be there in day-to-day operations or to have
- 27:54five other things going on. Like, Elon does if you can take
- 27:58care of those five, other things, that's great.
- 28:00Most People can't, if I have 5 things to do, I would go crazy,
- 28:05especially on the scale that Ilan has.
- 28:07I mean, I don't think anybody could really take care of that
- 28:11in such a way, that it would be beneficial to everybody involved
- 28:15in every single one of those companies if I were in charge of
- 28:18all the one, all of those companies wouldn't make it to be
- 28:21honest with you, but Elon has a way about him that he can do
- 28:26multiple tasks at a very, very high level that most people.
- 28:31Even think about doing so is it okay for him to be let go is the
- 28:35CEO and take another role in the company, maybe head engineer,
- 28:40you know something like that, who knows we'll see in the next
- 28:43few weeks maybe a month or so at to see what the shares do at
- 28:46Tesla and if the stockholders if the shareholders are going to
- 28:50put elon's feet to the fire and either have him spend more time
- 28:53on Tesla or get rid of him and put somebody in his place.
- 28:58I appreciate you 100% because cuz I'm just happy you're here.
