- 0:00Speaker 1: I am Sherry, Maggie, and it's time for us to
- 0:02Speaker 1: go to God in prayer, and as always I ask
- 0:05Speaker 1: that you join me in prayer. You know, I think
- 0:09Speaker 1: about the fact that Jesus is our example, and he
- 0:14Speaker 1: always modeled humility, and the word of God consistently tells
- 0:19Speaker 1: us to humble ourselves and then God will exalt us.
- 0:23Speaker 1: And how pride comes before a fall. So today I
- 0:27Speaker 1: want to just pray about him, Heavenly Father, in the
- 0:30Speaker 1: name of Jesus Christ. We come before you today with
- 0:32Speaker 1: hearts longing to be more like Jesus, to be gentle,
- 0:36Speaker 1: to be lowly, to be filled with grace. In a
- 0:39Speaker 1: world that praises pride and self promotion. God teach us
- 0:43Speaker 1: the beauty and the strength of true humility, and not
- 0:46Speaker 1: that false humility. God, true humility. Lord Jesus, you are
- 0:50Speaker 1: our example, and you took on the form of a servant,
- 0:55Speaker 1: humbling yourself to the point of death, even your death
- 0:58Speaker 1: on the cross, knelt to wash the feet of your disciples,
- 1:03Speaker 1: including the one you knew. What betray you, Ah, What
- 1:07Speaker 1: a savior you are, what a model you are to us?
- 1:11Speaker 1: Help us, Lord, to lay down our pride, our self righteousness.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Help us to strip away every part of us that
- 1:18Speaker 1: seeks approval and recognition and control. Let us not think
- 1:22Speaker 1: more highly of ourselves than we ought to, nor lower
- 1:25Speaker 1: than is true. Let us see us through your lens,
- 1:29Speaker 1: not through somebody's criticism or through our own self righteousness.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Teach us God to listen more than we speak, to
- 1:37Speaker 1: serve more than we are served. To lift others rather
- 1:42Speaker 1: than to seek the spotlight. Let us find joy in
- 1:45Speaker 1: being unseen, unnoticed, and then fully accepted by You. God.
- 1:50Speaker 1: When we're attempted to compare, remind us that your love
- 1:53Speaker 1: is not earned. When we want to be first, remind
- 1:56Speaker 1: us God, you called the last bliss. When we feel
- 2:00Speaker 1: the urge to defend ourselves, God, remind us that you
- 2:03Speaker 1: stayed silent before your accusers, trusting the Father to vindicate you.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Lord God, Today we confess the moments when we put
- 2:13Speaker 1: ourselves at the center. Forgive us God for every time
- 2:16Speaker 1: we've sought to build our own kingdom rather than your words.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Creating us God a clean heart, renew a right spirit
- 2:22Speaker 1: within us, Show us God our heart, show us ways
- 2:25Speaker 1: that we displease you. Let humility not just be a
- 2:28Speaker 1: word we speak, but a life that we live. Let
- 2:31Speaker 1: it shape our relationships, our work, our prayers, even our thoughts. God,
- 2:35Speaker 1: let it not come from effort alone, but from complete
- 2:38Speaker 1: surrender to You, Holy Spirit. Make us a weird moment
- 2:42Speaker 1: by moment of your presence, so that we can walk
- 2:44Speaker 1: and step with you. God, let us not forget that
- 2:47Speaker 1: we are simply dust. We're dust, created by dust. We're
- 2:50Speaker 1: all created by dust, but we're loved by you. We're small, God,
- 2:54Speaker 1: but we're seen by you, Empty yet filled God
