- 0:48She's a happy girl.
- 1:02The root word of Christianity is Christ. Jesus Christ is the basis for Christianity.
- 1:09What separates our beliefs from those of the other religions?
- 1:12It is how we settle the question of what we are going to do with this man we
- 1:16call the Christ. When you peel away all of the doctrines and theology,
- 1:21what you have left of Christianity is the works of Christ.
- 1:24His sinless life and finished work on Calvary paid the price for our salvation.
- 1:29All we have to do is believe in him and receive his forgiveness for our sins.
- 1:34What makes him different than the gods of all the other religions?
- 1:38It's Christ's victory over sin, death, and the grave.
- 1:42They all lie lifeless and dead
- 1:45but our god jesus is alive
- 1:48and well join us in this broadcast of
- 1:51woman at the well ministries as kim discusses the
- 1:54uniqueness of jesus hello and
- 1:57thank you for joining us in this broadcast of woman at the well ministries and
- 2:00what an absolute pleasure it is to spend the next few moments with you just
- 2:04talking about god and and talking about his son jesus Christ and how very unique
- 2:09that Jesus is and how grateful that we need to be that he is so unique because he.
- 2:17Is the only payment acceptable for our sins.
- 2:22In Luke 2 and verse 11, he says, For unto you is born this day in the city of
- 2:26David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.
- 2:29What does it mean that Jesus has come to earth and that he is our Savior?
- 2:37What makes that so marvelous?
- 2:40Obviously, the fact that he's our Savior separates him from all the other little
- 2:45G-O-D's, S's in the world.
- 2:47Because none of them can do what he did, and that was pay our penalty for sin.
- 2:52John said, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. Shall we pray?
- 3:00Our kind and most gracious, dear Heavenly Father, Lord, we just thank you for
- 3:02this another day that you've given us.
- 3:04We thank you for your love and your mercy and your kindness,
- 3:06and we thank you for this opportunity to spend time in your word and to just
- 3:10concentrate on who you are, Lord.
- 3:13And we just ask that you would open up our hearts and our minds,
- 3:15And we pray that you would just give us the words that would bring comfort to
- 3:19those who need it, Lord, that would bring healing to those who need it,
- 3:22Lord, and that most of all, that something would be said or done that would
- 3:25draw someone closer to you.
- 3:27Heavenly Father, we thank you for this and all things that you do for us and
- 3:30all these things we ask in Jesus' name and amen.
- 3:34We're going to talk about the things that make Jesus unique.
- 3:41We're thinking about him. It's that time of year when we're excited about Jesus
- 3:47and we think about him during this time. And it's important for us to keep in mind who he is.
- 3:54And we talk about him being born in a stable. We talk about him coming to earth.
- 3:59We talk about the wise men following him. We talk about the shepherds talking about him being here.
- 4:05We sing about the angels heralding his birth. But do you know what makes him so unique?
- 4:13Among all the other religions that talk about the person they worship.
- 4:19It's very important that you keep in mind that what really makes him unique
- 4:24is that he is Jesus, God's only begotten son.
- 4:31What makes him truly unique is that he could pay the payment for our sins.
- 4:37What makes it phenomenal is that he loves us.
- 4:41And the thing that really separates him from all the other objects of religion,
- 4:48is that when he died the grave couldn't
- 4:51hold him and on that third and glorious day christ rose from the dead and he
- 4:57is alive and reigns forevermore all the others such as confucius or Buddha or
- 5:06Muhammad or any of the ones you can think of, Allah,
- 5:10any of the new isms and shisms and all the new religions and ideas that are
- 5:15out there, they don't have a God that is alive and real.
- 5:20They've been duped by Satan, but we serve a living, risen Savior.
- 5:28And I know so often And we talk to people and they say, well,
- 5:32Christians are just so narrow minded and Christians are intolerant.
- 5:38You know, Christians are not
- 5:40intolerant if they are in the will of God because we reach out in love.
- 5:45But we accept no false substitute, for we truly have the real thing.
- 5:50And we're narrow-minded because he said, Straight is the way and narrow is the
- 5:54gate that leadeth to heaven.
- 5:57And wide is the gate and crooked is the road that leads to destruction.
- 6:04And just because you think it's so, doesn't make it so.
- 6:10Just because I say it, doesn't make it so.
- 6:14But what says the word of God makes it so?
- 6:19In 2 Timothy 3, beginning in verse 16, he says, All scripture is given by inspiration
- 6:27of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction,
- 6:32for instruction in righteousness,
- 6:35that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works,
- 6:39that the man of God may be perfect,
- 6:42thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
- 6:46You see, God wrote his instructions in his blessed book, the Bible.
- 6:54And it says that the word became flesh and dwelt among us and Jesus Christ came.
- 7:03As a babe in a manger and what
- 7:06he did was he is the word manifested and so as you sit down and read the word
- 7:11of God you have the opportunity to fully know Jesus which means you have the
- 7:15opportunity to fully know God you have the opportunity to spend time with the
- 7:19God of the universe through sitting in his word and praying.
- 7:24And you know what? He says, ask, and it shall be given unto you.
- 7:30Seek, and ye shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
- 7:37Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not.
- 7:42That's the God I serve, who said, come boldly to my throne, who welcomes me to speak to him.
- 7:50Who invites me to talk to him and then answers my prayers, who guides me,
- 7:58who leads me, who cares about me. That's the difference.
- 8:05As we begin to look, we're going to talk about some things here.
- 8:09Jesus Christ was prophesied in the Old Testament some 37 times,
- 8:16and they were fulfilled in the New Testament.
- 8:20In Isaiah 9, verse 7, we see that he is prophesied as being heir to the throne of David.
- 8:31And if you would please look at Luke chapter 1
- 8:34verses 32 and 33 he says
- 8:38and behold thou shall conceive in thy womb and bring forth a.
- 8:41Son and shall call his name Jesus he shall
- 8:44be great and shall be called the son of the highest and the
- 8:47Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David
- 8:51in Isaiah they prophesied in
- 8:55Luke it was fulfilled today's lesson
- 8:59may not be one that evokes great emotion it
- 9:03may not be one that makes your ears feel
- 9:06good and tickles your heart
- 9:09but it's one that should stimulate you and
- 9:13increase your faith and encourage you because today
- 9:16we're really looking through the scriptures and unfolding
- 9:20the truths about what separates the god
- 9:22we serve from all the others and friends
- 9:26when you are in the presence of unbelievers
- 9:30you need to be able to be as paul was
- 9:33and say i'm not ashamed of the gospel of christ you need
- 9:36to be confident in his very words you need
- 9:40to say as he did i am persuaded that he which has begun
- 9:43a good work in me shall complete it to the end
- 9:46and you can't do those things if you don't understand who he is you can't fully
- 9:52trust him if you don't know something about him and we begin with the fact that
- 9:58in luke 2 11 he was the savior of the world and we're going to move to the fact that.
- 10:05That God loved us so much that he gave his only begotten son.
- 10:09It's important that you realize who he is.
- 10:13In Micah chapter 5 and verse 2, it was prophesied that he would be born in Bethlehem.
- 10:22In Luke chapter 2 verses 4 through 7, it's fulfilled that he was born in Bethlehem.
- 10:31So many years passing between the prophetic message
- 10:35words and the fulfillment the
- 10:40fruition of the christ if they
- 10:43don't contradict and they complete his work i believe that one of the things
- 10:49that is incredibly important that you understand as a believer is what was prophesied
- 10:56in isaiah chapter 7 and verse 14 so we're going to walk back to there.
- 11:01Isaiah 7, verse 14.
- 11:05In Isaiah 7, in verse 14, it says, Therefore the Lord himself shall give you
- 11:09a sign. Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son and shall call his name Emmanuel.
- 11:16In today's day and time, everybody is
- 11:20trying to bring down the deity of christ
- 11:23they write amazing bestsellers
- 11:26of fiction who needs
- 11:29fiction when you have the word of god and
- 11:33it's the bestseller of all times i absolutely challenge
- 11:38you to find any book written anywhere that is
- 11:41any more dramatic that will
- 11:44run you through the number of emotions that the bible will do that is even half
- 11:50as filled with wisdom and goodness if you take the word of god and you apply
- 11:57it to your life as god has intended you to do so it'll change your life every single time you read it.
- 12:05And my friends, you can read the same passage over and over and watch it just
- 12:09transform your life, even in various areas of your life.
- 12:12The Word of God is dynamic.
- 12:15And it's always working good in your heart and life.
- 12:20And it changes not on the page, but in your understanding of it,
- 12:26according to the place you sit right now as you read each of these scriptures.
- 12:30And as you're going through different phases of
- 12:33your life and walking at different proximity to
- 12:37god you'll see that the word of god touches
- 12:40different areas of your life and it will change you
- 12:43over and over and over again as the word of god is alive and we're a work in
- 12:50progress and these words are the chiseling tools the potter's clay all the things
- 12:58that enable us to be what he called us to be.
- 13:02And the word of God just helps us become that.
- 13:06You don't need fiction.
- 13:08You don't need the garbage on the cinema that distorts what the Bible says is true.
- 13:16You don't need books that talk about Christ being human.
- 13:21You ever watch that? There's these big things that are going on right now.
- 13:25And we see all these people caught up in crazy
- 13:29mystical movies for kids and they're
- 13:32arguing well it's not bad it's not evil but
- 13:35what's the good in it if you want to argue me
- 13:38that this wizardry stuff isn't bad i want you to show me where it's good you
- 13:45see anything that is left to chance anything that is out there that isn't depending
- 13:53on god as being in control in the center of it all.
- 13:57Well, my friend, that's wrong.
- 14:00As God said, anything not done in faith is sin.
- 14:07And faith means I believe that everything is in control of God.
- 14:11And when you have to back such stuff up, then you have to know that it isn't
- 14:16right. And I know that some of you are thinking I'm meddling.
- 14:18But let's think about this. How about the garbage you're reading that has done
- 14:23exactly what satan wants to do it's attacking the character of christ.
- 14:29It's trying to make christ more man-like yes he's 100 man but he's also 100
- 14:36god and it said that he was here and tempted like as we are yet without sin
- 14:41friends he didn't give in to temptations.
- 14:45And it all starts by understanding that he is 100% man while being 100% God.
- 14:51And it all starts back to that virgin birth where he prophesies it in Isaiah
- 14:577 and fulfills it in Luke chapter 1.
- 15:02In Luke 1, 26, he says, And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from
- 15:08God into a city of Galilee named Nazareth to a virgin, a spouse to a man whose
- 15:12name was Joseph of the house of David, And the virgin's name was Mary.
- 15:18And the angel came in unto her and said, Hail thou that are highly favored.
- 15:22The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women.
- 15:25For the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found favor with God.
- 15:30And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and shalt bring forth a son,
- 15:36and shalt call his name Jesus.
- 15:39And he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever.
- 15:44Mary was a virgin and that's
- 15:47the only way that the bloodline of god could
- 15:50have been passed to jesus christ and if his blood had been anything except holy
- 15:59and righteous then you and i would have no hope for we'd have no payment left
- 16:05for our sins so what makes jesus unique.
- 16:10He's alive, and he's fully man and fully God, born of a virgin.
- 16:18He is declared the son of the Most High God.
- 16:24Let's look at Psalms chapter 2 and verse 7.
- 16:29Psalms chapter 2 and verse 7.
- 16:32In Psalms chapter 2 and verse 7, he says, I will declare the decree the Lord
- 16:40has said unto me, Thou art my son, this day have I begotten thee.
- 16:47Turn over to Matthew chapter 3 and verse 17.
- 16:51Many years passing between. Matthew 3 and verse 17.
- 16:59And lo, a voice from heaven saying, this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased.
- 17:08In John chapter 3 in verse 16, he says it's his only begotten son.
- 17:14What makes Jesus unique?
- 17:16He's alive and he's well. He's the only payment for sin that is acceptable.
- 17:21And when he was on the cross, he cried, it is finished.
- 17:25And he gave up the ghost and he died. And on that third day, he rose again.
- 17:30He was born of a virgin And he's the only one, the only one declared the son of God.
- 17:39What furthermore makes him so unique?
- 17:43Because it was prophesied by Isaiah that he would heal the brokenhearted.
- 17:51Turn to Isaiah, please.
- 17:54Chapter 61. We're just running all through the scriptures today. Isaiah 61. One.
- 18:01And verses 1 and 2. The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord
- 18:07hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek.
- 18:10He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives,
- 18:15and the opening of the prison to them that are bound, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,
- 18:21and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all that mourn.
- 18:26Turn for me, please, to Luke 4, verses 18 and 19.
- 18:31He came to heal the brokenhearted.
- 18:35In 1 Peter 5, 7, he says, Casting all your care upon him, for he careth for you.
- 18:42Luke 4, verses 18 and 19.
- 18:46He then says, I need to get there.
- 18:49Sorry. He says, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me
- 18:55to preach the gospel to the poor.
- 18:57He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives,
- 19:01and recovering of sight to the blind to set
- 19:04at liberty them that are bruised to preach the acceptable year
- 19:08of the lord and that's jesus himself no
- 19:11other god no other object of religion has been declared the son of god is still
- 19:21alive and well was born of a virgin was prophesied all through one part and
- 19:27then fulfilled in the other the old testament speaks of jesus.
- 19:31At least 37 prophecies and
- 19:35the new testament unfolds each of
- 19:38those not one of them lost not one
- 19:41of them distorted but all of them just
- 19:44as it was prophesied friends that's
- 19:49the deity of christ you see
- 19:52it was prophesied that he'd
- 19:54be rejected by his own people it was
- 19:58prophesied he'd be betrayed by a friend and
- 20:02judas sold him for 30 pieces of silver and
- 20:05that was prophesied all these things were said but i want you to see what he
- 20:12says in isaiah chapter 53 and verse 5 it was prophesied that he'd be a vicarious
- 20:19sacrifice isaiah chapter 53 and verse 5.
- 20:26But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities.
- 20:31The chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes we are healed.
- 20:37And it was fulfilled in Romans 5, verses 6 and 8.
- 20:45For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
- 20:50But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners,
- 20:54christ died for us
- 20:57it was prophesied in psalms 109
- 21:01and verse 4 that he would pray for
- 21:05his enemies and if you would please
- 21:08i ask you to turn to luke chapter 23 and
- 21:12verse 34 in luke chapter 23
- 21:15and verse 34 it says
- 21:19then said jesus father forgive them for
- 21:23they know not what they do he
- 21:26said this when he was on the cross of calvary and i want you to really realize
- 21:31that when he was hanging on the cross between two thieves both of them deserving
- 21:35to be there in a time when anyone would have given him absolute carte blanche
- 21:42right to be totally centered upon himself.
- 21:46He was still going about doing good, as spoken about in the book of Acts.
- 21:51Because at that time, hanging on that cross between two thieves,
- 21:56when the one thief realized that he
- 21:59deserved to be there and he understood that he
- 22:03had come to the end of his rope and there was nothing else he could
- 22:05do he reached out to the only help he knew and the only help there was and he
- 22:14said remember me and jesus in the midst of all of his pain in the midst of all
- 22:20that was happening still had time.
- 22:24Have compassion and to save. No matter where you are, no matter what you've
- 22:31done, this Jesus that I'm talking about, that is my Savior that came to seek
- 22:37and to save those which were lost,
- 22:39and whom John said, behold, the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the
- 22:43world, who is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother, and who said he
- 22:47would never leave me nor forsake me.
- 22:49This Jesus is different than all the others that you'll ever see.
- 22:54And He's calling for you.
- 22:57Won't you accept Him today and know the uniqueness of a peace that passes understanding
- 23:03and a joy unspeakable and full of glory?
