- 0:02Speaker 1: This is a Bramble Jam podcast. Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark,
- 0:24Speaker 1: a Hallmark review podcast. I'm Megan and I'm a longtime
- 0:26Speaker 1: Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy. I'm Wendy. I'm a former Hallmark hater.
- 0:32Speaker 1: What was that Wendy versus Wendy? Honestly, it sounded the
- 0:36Speaker 1: same to me. I can't win. Okay, it sounded like Wendy.
- 0:42Speaker 1: On today's episode, we're discussing are we gonna fight? I
- 0:50Speaker 1: can't be mad and I have more than a person
- 0:52Speaker 1: mad at me. Nobody's mad. I know it is mad.
- 0:57Speaker 1: On today's episode, we are discussing My Secret Valentine, which
- 1:00Speaker 1: originally premiered on the Hallmark Channel in February twenty eighteen,
- 1:04Speaker 1: is currently available to stream on Hallmark Plus. It is
- 1:07Speaker 1: part of a lineup of Valentine movies we are doing
- 1:10Speaker 1: this month February on Girls Gone Homemark. Should we do
- 1:14Speaker 1: a quick rundown of the Valentine lineup for the listeners? Yeah,
- 1:17Speaker 1: the vintage Valentine lineup? Heay, you like that? I loved it,
- 1:21Speaker 1: thank you? So. Of course, this week is My Secret Valentine.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Next week, on February twelfth is All Things Valentine, followed
- 1:30Speaker 1: by a Valentine's Match on February nineteenth, rounding it out
- 1:35Speaker 1: with the secret Ingredient on February twenty sixth. So we
- 1:40Speaker 1: have four Valentine movies this month for you throwback. Good
- 1:44Speaker 1: news is these are re airing on Hallmarks. I was
- 1:47Speaker 1: actually going to run through and do a quick reshare
- 1:49Speaker 1: on Instagram, so check that out of the dates when
- 1:52Speaker 1: those movies are airing, so you can set your DVRs.
- 1:56Speaker 1: So you should be following us Girls Got Hallmark on Instagram. Yeah. Hey,
- 2:01Speaker 1: we have a Facebook group. You know what what We
- 2:05Speaker 1: picked these movies alone, right, We didn't ask the Facebook community. No,
- 2:11Speaker 1: well no, however, we picked them from a Valentine's Day
- 2:15Speaker 1: post we have on Girls Gone Home and the movies
- 2:18Speaker 1: in that post were sourced from the Facebook groups. Atcha
- 2:21Speaker 1: them directly. This came from the Facebook got it? Well? Hey,
- 2:24Speaker 1: if you want to join our Facebook group, m M
- 2:27Speaker 1: we are. It's called Girls Gone Hallmark in Facebook groups.
- 2:30Speaker 1: We would love to have you over there, We really would.
- 2:34Speaker 1: This movie is called My Secret Valentine and I'd love
- 2:36Speaker 1: to hear a synopsis. A young woman takes advice from
- 2:40Speaker 1: the chalkboard notes that her mysterious house rental tenant leaves
- 2:44Speaker 1: when a slick sales rep arrives with plans to buy
- 2:47Speaker 1: her family's prized winery. My Secret Valentine was directed by
- 2:52Speaker 1: Bradley Walsh. Bradley currently has fifty two directing credits, which
- 2:55Speaker 1: include favorites like Twas the Date Before Christmas and Catch
- 2:58Speaker 1: Me if You clause. Carrie Friedel wrote the script. This
- 3:01Speaker 1: was her first writing credit and has gone on to
- 3:04Speaker 1: write only one more Hallmark project called Winter Love Story
- 3:08Speaker 1: from twenty nineteen, as well as the twenty twenty one
- 3:12Speaker 1: Netflix original movie After Life of the Party. That sounds
- 3:16Speaker 1: like something we might like. It had somebody in it.
- 3:21Speaker 1: I want to say, Victoria Justice. Oh wait, that's not her?
- 3:25Speaker 1: Is that her name? Have I seen that movie? After
- 3:27Speaker 1: Life of the Party? Who's in it? Victoria Justice? Wow?
- 3:32Speaker 1: A young female party planner unfortunately dies. Now she must
- 3:37Speaker 1: assist a specific selection of people who were in her
- 3:40Speaker 1: life in order to move herself to the above. She
- 3:44Speaker 1: review that movie. Should we review that? Pil do you
- 3:49Speaker 1: want to? I think I might watch it whether we
- 3:51Speaker 1: review it or not. So that sounds fun? Okay? All right?
- 3:56Speaker 1: Lazy Shavert stars as Chloe. We recently saw Lazy in
- 3:59Speaker 1: Lost in Paris. It was reported that Holiday ever after
- 4:02Speaker 1: a Disney wish come true just recently wrapped. This movie
- 4:06Speaker 1: was her twelfth Hallmark movie. Andrew Walker stars as Seth.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Andrew was really busy in twenty twenty five with five
- 4:14Speaker 1: Hallmark movies. It was just announced that he will start
- 4:17Speaker 1: in the forthcoming Kentucky Roses, a Kentucky Derby inspired movie.
- 4:21Speaker 1: For may question for you. I looked on the IMDb
- 4:25Speaker 1: because it's there, and his name is attached to the
- 4:27Speaker 1: project with a whole bunch of other people, but no
- 4:30Speaker 1: lead actress, not yet. I mean, I'm sure, come on,
- 4:35Speaker 1: of course there's gonna be a love story, I know,
- 4:37Speaker 1: but I'm like, is it a big surprise? Like? Who
- 4:39Speaker 1: is it? I don't know. Why aren't they promoting it together?
- 4:42Speaker 1: Good question? You know who? I would love for it
- 4:44Speaker 1: to be one Ashley Williams. Oh gosh, that would be amazing.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Those two have some real nice chemistry that I like,
- 4:52Speaker 1: Palka pal chemistry. You will, yeah. Peter McNeil plays Chloe's
- 4:56Speaker 1: dad Truman. To date, Peter has two hundred and fifteen
- 4:59Speaker 1: acting credits in over forty five episodes of Goodwitch in
- 5:02Speaker 1: the role of George. He recently appeared in the twenty
- 5:06Speaker 1: twenty five theatrical release of Frankenstein. Tara Yellend appears as Leanne.
- 5:11Speaker 1: She has appeared in several Hallmark movies such as We
- 5:15Speaker 1: Met in December and well as Goodwitch. Cindy Samson plays
- 5:20Speaker 1: Seth's boss Taylor, with a fairly small role in this
- 5:25Speaker 1: Cindy ended up landing the lead role as Angie in
- 5:28Speaker 1: sixty episodes of Private Eyes. She's most recently appeared in
- 5:32Speaker 1: Sullivan's Crossing and is currently in pre production of the
- 5:35Speaker 1: reboot Private Eyzed West Coast. Let's take a quick break,
- 5:39Speaker 1: and we're gonna come right back with our first impressions.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Before we get to our first impressions, a little programming note,
- 5:53Speaker 1: just well, how the sausage gets made. Last night, my
- 5:57Speaker 1: friend said to me, I have a question. How come
- 6:00Speaker 1: podcasters say we're going to take a quick break and
- 6:02Speaker 1: we'll come right back, and then their music plays, and
- 6:05Speaker 1: then their music plays, and they come back, ah, and
- 6:07Speaker 1: there's nothing there. Uh huh. And I said, that's called
- 6:10Speaker 1: phil right, my friend, that's an ad spot that didn't
- 6:13Speaker 1: get filled. And because it is currently January, which is
- 6:16Speaker 1: the absolute four for advertising. There are a lot of
- 6:20Speaker 1: unfilled ad spots. She heard that happen on the West
- 6:23Speaker 1: Wing Weekly, which honestly made me feel pretty good because
- 6:26Speaker 1: she was like, I know, you guys do it, and
- 6:27Speaker 1: I wasn't sure why, and then I heard them do
- 6:29Speaker 1: it and she was like, it must be a thing.
- 6:31Speaker 1: So that's why. And ads, as we've discussed before, are
- 6:34Speaker 1: dynamically filled. Means what you hear and what I hear
- 6:38Speaker 1: will be different based on location and when you're listening.
- 6:41Speaker 1: And if you listen to the same episode six months apart,
- 6:43Speaker 1: you're going to get different ads. Yeah, so I just
- 6:46Speaker 1: thought I would share that little tidbit. I remember listening
- 6:49Speaker 1: to a podcast that I would regularly, and I was
- 6:52Speaker 1: always so excited when they didn't have like ad break,
- 6:55Speaker 1: like there was an ad break but no actual ads,
- 6:57Speaker 1: and I was like, yeah, we're right back into it.
- 7:00Speaker 1: So I wonder if if our listeners are sure they're like,
- 7:03Speaker 1: I don't have to skip this thirty seconds there. Yeah. Well, now, Wendy,
- 7:08Speaker 1: i'd love to hear your first impression of my secret Valentine. Well,
- 7:11Speaker 1: you know, earlier I was like, I'm not mad I'm
- 7:12Speaker 1: not mad. I am actually mad who picked this movie.
- 7:17Speaker 1: You're not mad at me, I'm mad at whoever picked
- 7:21Speaker 1: this movie. I don't know if it was me or
- 7:23Speaker 1: you or what. Wow. My first impression is this movie
- 7:29Speaker 1: should have been a Fall movie. Agree. Yeah, this movie
- 7:33Speaker 1: looks more like Fall than any Fall movie we've ever
- 7:35Speaker 1: seen it on Hollmark. I'll talk about it in a
- 7:37Speaker 1: little bit. You're right, because it's supposed to be organ
- 7:39Speaker 1: right in February. H Yeah, Yeah, I did like some things,
- 7:45Speaker 1: what about you? A few things? H There were a
- 7:48Speaker 1: few things. My favorite thing happened at almost close to
- 7:52Speaker 1: the top of the movie. The stress snacking at the
- 7:55Speaker 1: convenience store. They're both looking for something that yes on
- 8:01Speaker 1: very relatable and this If the whole movie was like that,
- 8:05Speaker 1: I would have loved this movie, the sweet, fun banter
- 8:08Speaker 1: parts of it exactly. If it was that tone for
- 8:12Speaker 1: an hour and twenty minutes, I would have been all in.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Tone was rough. Okay. I think Lacy and Andrew are
- 8:19Speaker 1: really good together. Don't worry. I have lots of things
- 8:21Speaker 1: to say about the character of Chloe, but I do
- 8:25Speaker 1: think the two of them. Comparing this to She's making
- 8:28Speaker 1: a list I liked the two of them more in
- 8:32Speaker 1: this movie. My brain just went. I forgot that they
- 8:36Speaker 1: were in making a listic I forgot that these we
- 8:39Speaker 1: just watched a movie with these two in it because
- 8:41Speaker 1: it was it was fine. I liked that movie. I
- 8:45Speaker 1: liked the movie, but I did not think they had
- 8:47Speaker 1: I thought they had real, like brotherly chemistry. Kind of
- 8:50Speaker 1: the same here too, I thought. Honestly, I thought it
- 8:53Speaker 1: was better. Their kiss at the end was much more
- 8:55Speaker 1: than Andrew walker vibe for me. I think the two
- 8:59Speaker 1: of them them, they're both good at what they do.
- 9:02Speaker 1: They're both real natural on camera. I thought Lacey was
- 9:05Speaker 1: very smiling in this movie. I didn't know itice. She
- 9:08Speaker 1: looked like she was having a good time. She's an actor. Well, yeah,
- 9:13Speaker 1: I mean she was. I can pretend to look like
- 9:16Speaker 1: I'm having a good time too. Is that what you
- 9:17Speaker 1: do every single time you sit at this kitchen table? No? Stop,
- 9:20Speaker 1: you can hear it in my voice, I'm having a
- 9:21Speaker 1: good time. Maybe you're an actress. Far from it, babe.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Look here's my thoughts. I know you hated this movie.
- 9:28Speaker 1: I didn't hate this movie. I actually thought it was fine.
- 9:32Speaker 1: I thought it was very twenty eighteen. I thought the
- 9:35Speaker 1: reason why when we announced this line up, everyone's like, oh,
- 9:39Speaker 1: a lot of these movies I watch every year, And
- 9:41Speaker 1: I think the reason why people might have had affection
- 9:43Speaker 1: for this movie is twenty eighteen. This might have been
- 9:46Speaker 1: what Hallmark was doing. This might have been the top
- 9:48Speaker 1: of Hallmarks game. You got two of their best in
- 9:51Speaker 1: a The production value is not bad, Like, the scenery
- 9:56Speaker 1: is real nice. It looks like I mean, it is
- 10:00Speaker 1: on an actual winery. Pretty Yeah, yes, they used they're
- 10:06Speaker 1: in the vineyards. It felt authentic, like a lot of
- 10:09Speaker 1: that was working for me. And it's it's very formulaic
- 10:14Speaker 1: and trophy. So we'll get into all of that. But
- 10:17Speaker 1: I did not hate this movie. I did, however, fall
- 10:21Speaker 1: asleep about seventeen times. I was also watching at eleven
- 10:25Speaker 1: thirty pm. That's past mamas bedtime. I watched it while
- 10:29Speaker 1: folding laundry. Oh and one of those. Yeah, I do
- 10:33Speaker 1: have some other things I like. Okay, I wasn't drawn
- 10:36Speaker 1: to but appreciated the father daughter relationship. I thought it
- 10:40Speaker 1: felt real, believable because Peter McNeil is so good, right,
- 10:45Speaker 1: and also maybe it's just the stage I am at
- 10:49Speaker 1: live or like I have parents who are considering retiring
- 10:52Speaker 1: from things, and like, you know, like this dad and
- 10:57Speaker 1: Donner obviously like love each other. They have experience his
- 11:00Speaker 1: grief because you know, his wife, her mom has passed
- 11:03Speaker 1: and the dad is ready to, like, you know, sunset
- 11:07Speaker 1: this career that he's had. Can you blame him? His
- 11:10Speaker 1: daughter is living somewhere else and has a full on
- 11:13Speaker 1: career somewhere else. Maybe he's like, I don't she doesn't
- 11:16Speaker 1: want to do the winery. She doesn't want to do this.
- 11:19Speaker 1: All signs pointed that she doesn't want to do that exactly.
- 11:22Speaker 1: But you know, could it have been solved with a
- 11:25Speaker 1: little bit of communication, Yes, does the father owe her
- 11:29Speaker 1: daughter that? No, like my dad, my dad has a
- 11:32Speaker 1: family business that he's leaving soon. He doesn't come to
- 11:36Speaker 1: me say, hey, do you want to take it over?
- 11:38Speaker 1: Because I got my own wife, right, that's yours to sell,
- 11:42Speaker 1: yours to have bond for exactly. I liked their relationship.
- 11:45Speaker 1: I thought he should have been given a little bit
- 11:47Speaker 1: more grace in terms of the decision making of his
- 11:50Speaker 1: own future planning. But the character played by Peter McNeil,
- 11:55Speaker 1: I think Peter McNeil always grounds the movies that he's
- 11:57Speaker 1: in plays these really believable, both the other figures in
- 12:01Speaker 1: a lot of different elements. Yeah, this movie is obviously
- 12:06Speaker 1: You've Got Mail, which, yes, and where is also a
- 12:09Speaker 1: remake of Shop around the Corner. I mean, fortunately for
- 12:12Speaker 1: the Hallmark people. I'm a fan of You've Got Mail.
- 12:16Speaker 1: But when we get into this and like it's almost
- 12:18Speaker 1: like seene By scene remakes in some ways. Oh really
- 12:21Speaker 1: the scene where they're supposed to meet at the restaurant
- 12:25Speaker 1: and Seth shows up, realizes who Chloe is. He's in
- 12:30Speaker 1: the No, she doesn't. He kind of antagged. That's very
- 12:33Speaker 1: much straight out if You've Got Mail. The very end
- 12:37Speaker 1: where her line is, I was really hoping it was
- 12:40Speaker 1: you all along, Meg Ryan says to Tom Hanks. I
- 12:43Speaker 1: was hoping it would be you, you know. I mean
- 12:45Speaker 1: there are these moments there. They're business rivals. It's it's
- 12:49Speaker 1: I like that story, but it has been told before.
- 12:52Speaker 1: That's not a wish. I don't know why it's here.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Did you love out loud when Andrew Walker did his
- 12:56Speaker 1: Texas Oil Barren impression? No, I don't want actually even
- 13:00Speaker 1: remember it. She's trying to sell wine to that fancy restaurant.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Who's always shining. Oh yes, and he comes in he's like,
- 13:07Speaker 1: this is the only one I'll drink me and my
- 13:10Speaker 1: real rich oil frame. That was okay, I forgive my accent.
- 13:13Speaker 1: I didn't lol, But yes, I do remember it now
- 13:16Speaker 1: and it was kind of funny. It was kind of funny.
- 13:18Speaker 1: There was a scene towards the end where Chloe confronts Seth.
- 13:23Speaker 1: It was she her dad had explained like, oh, I
- 13:26Speaker 1: why didn't you tell me I stigned the contracts this morning? No? No, no,
- 13:29Speaker 1: And then like Seth comes up and he's like, what
- 13:31Speaker 1: are you talking about? Like, I'm going to talk a
- 13:33Speaker 1: little bit more about that scene and my wishes, But
- 13:36Speaker 1: what I liked in particular about that scene is Chloe
- 13:40Speaker 1: kind of like unleashes on him and she's literally her
- 13:44Speaker 1: eyes are all welled up like it's a I was like, Oh,
- 13:47Speaker 1: she handled like the emotional beat of that scene really well,
- 13:50Speaker 1: Like it was super believable to me. Nice. I have
- 13:53Speaker 1: one small like and that is I really appreciate that
- 13:55Speaker 1: they read their chalkboard notes out loud, because we are
- 13:59Speaker 1: in a day and age of text messages on screen,
- 14:02Speaker 1: and those are handled in a variety of different ways.
- 14:04Speaker 1: And if you don't have them being read out loud
- 14:08Speaker 1: or put in very large letters on the screen, I
- 14:11Speaker 1: got no idea what's happening. Yeah, sometimes I have to
- 14:13Speaker 1: pause and walk up to my television to read them,
- 14:15Speaker 1: and I don't like that experience. I have a thought
- 14:17Speaker 1: about the chalkboard. I'm going to talk about it, and
- 14:19Speaker 1: to just see that. Okay, anything else, You're like, hmmmm,
- 14:23Speaker 1: let's talk wishes. I simply do not believe that they
- 14:26Speaker 1: could go all of this time without realizing who is
- 14:29Speaker 1: staying in the cottage the end, it's on their property.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Where does she think he's staying? You're right, You're right.
- 14:35Speaker 1: The handyman mystery is not a mystery. No. I was
- 14:41Speaker 1: truly baffled. I was. I'm watching this, I'm like, what
- 14:44Speaker 1: am I missing? Like they don't know who they're what? What? What?
- 14:49Speaker 1: And the way like this movie handled, like the intrigue
- 14:53Speaker 1: of it all is like Scooby Doo level to me,
- 14:55Speaker 1: Like this it was not a mystery. No, And they
- 14:58Speaker 1: like go on there Bobo VR and they're like trying
- 15:01Speaker 1: to source. They're like, well, look here's our photo and
- 15:05Speaker 1: here's his sunset photo and he uses this crypt what
- 15:10Speaker 1: are we doing. It's on their property. There is absolutely
- 15:14Speaker 1: no chance she doesn't know who's staying there. Excuse me,
- 15:16Speaker 1: She's going into the home while there is a tenant there. Repeatedly,
- 15:21Speaker 1: you can't do that. Well, he had called to ask
- 15:24Speaker 1: for repairs. Fine, okay, fine, that's that's But at one
- 15:29Speaker 1: point she comes in and she's like, hello, hello, Hello,
- 15:31Speaker 1: you're not here. I'm entering your I don't know. I
- 15:34Speaker 1: just it was just weird. How do you not know?
- 15:38Speaker 1: You don't see the guy come and go at all?
- 15:40Speaker 1: I thought it was weird that she kept going back
- 15:42Speaker 1: because I understand, like he called the it. This didn't
- 15:47Speaker 1: track for me. He apparently called for repairs, and Colie's like, oh,
- 15:53Speaker 1: I'll go do it, not Leanne. So Colly goes over
- 15:56Speaker 1: there has that scene that you mentioned, kind of of repairs.
- 16:01Speaker 1: She leaves like a toolbox behind, but then she continues
- 16:04Speaker 1: to go back under the guise of fixing things, all
- 16:08Speaker 1: the while the handyman's also fixing things. Mm hmmm. I
- 16:12Speaker 1: don't understand why she needed to continue to return to
- 16:15Speaker 1: this home. Me neither got aside. This movie was so
- 16:18Speaker 1: slow to me. Did it feel slow to you? Yeah,
- 16:22Speaker 1: because there's lots of like tinkering shots of him fixing
- 16:25Speaker 1: things and pouring wine and watching each other out the window. Yeah,
- 16:31Speaker 1: it give me some snappy dialogue, please. I was thinking
- 16:34Speaker 1: the entire time. I was like, I am so glad
- 16:37Speaker 1: that in twenty twenty six, Homemark has kind of moved
- 16:41Speaker 1: away from this kind of movie. I mean, of course,
- 16:44Speaker 1: we have movies with heavy tropes and like et cetera,
- 16:49Speaker 1: et cetera, but this kind of like painfully slow. Yeah,
- 16:53Speaker 1: they're doing it better. Yeah, it's not that I'm unwilling
- 16:58Speaker 1: to accept some slowed down storytelling, because we just reviewed
- 17:04Speaker 1: The Magic of Ordinary Day. Yes, and I really enjoyed
- 17:07Speaker 1: the pacing of that. It's that the pacing of that
- 17:08Speaker 1: made a lot of sense, but this did feel slow.
- 17:11Speaker 1: I also thought there was some trophy nonsense with Chloe
- 17:14Speaker 1: being so unnecessarily mean to Seth, who was just there
- 17:18Speaker 1: to do his job. And not only that, he takes
- 17:21Speaker 1: the note she says to him, we take this seriously. Yeah, like,
- 17:25Speaker 1: we're not just a business. This is who we are.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Seth gets his hands dirty, he learns every element of
- 17:32Speaker 1: the business, he studies the wine, he's pulling leaves. So
- 17:35Speaker 1: I don't really fully understand what they're doing. I think
- 17:37Speaker 1: they're pruning. Great, Okay, not a gardener. She just continued
- 17:43Speaker 1: to dig and dig and dig at him, and I
- 17:46Speaker 1: didn't think it was deserved. And if you do a
- 17:49Speaker 1: throwback to you've got mail the whole like Joe Fox,
- 17:52Speaker 1: Kathleen Kelly of it all, Joe Fox is kind of
- 17:55Speaker 1: mean to her. Joe Fox does put her out of business.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Joe Fox does his just call me Joe and like
- 18:01Speaker 1: keeps it whatever. He and his dad and his grandfather
- 18:04Speaker 1: are like the absolute worst. They would have been like
- 18:06Speaker 1: the ultimate, especially the dad and the grandfather would have
- 18:08Speaker 1: been like me tooed into oblivion. When she's kind of
- 18:12Speaker 1: mean to him, he deserves it. I didn't really feel
- 18:15Speaker 1: like Seth deserved it. Like he showed up Pear to
- 18:17Speaker 1: do a job. He did it well. He gave their
- 18:20Speaker 1: business the respect that it deserved. He offered them a
- 18:24Speaker 1: fair deal and was invited there by. Her father wasn't
- 18:28Speaker 1: an uninvited guest, wasn't trying to railroad them into something
- 18:32Speaker 1: that the actual owner of the business didn't want. Her
- 18:35Speaker 1: anger was misdirected. She should have been mad at her dad,
- 18:39Speaker 1: but honestly not mad at her dad. She was mad
- 18:42Speaker 1: at herself. I've done all of this work, and what
- 18:46Speaker 1: do I have to show for it? And then she's like, well,
- 18:49Speaker 1: instead of looking internally and figuring out how I can
- 18:52Speaker 1: make that better, I'm just gonna unload on all of
- 18:54Speaker 1: these people who do not deserve my rights exactly, exactly,
- 19:00Speaker 1: And one of my wishes is I wish she had
- 19:02Speaker 1: apologized she misjudged him time and time again, and then
- 19:07Speaker 1: ends up getting the guy anyway. At the end. The
- 19:10Speaker 1: one thing I hate about older Hallmark movies is just
- 19:15Speaker 1: I hate the formula. I hate. These are the types
- 19:18Speaker 1: of movies that made me a hater. Look, we have
- 19:21Speaker 1: said it time and time and time again. The enemy
- 19:23Speaker 1: still lovers is so hard to do well because you
- 19:26Speaker 1: do not have the time in which to make me
- 19:28Speaker 1: believe that you have made the turn from enemies to lovers.
- 19:31Speaker 1: It's done better in books typically because there's time, yeah, exactly,
- 19:36Speaker 1: in an hour and twenty minutes. You don't have the time.
- 19:39Speaker 1: It's not earned. At the end of this movie, when
- 19:42Speaker 1: she's like, I was hoping it would be really in
- 19:44Speaker 1: between what snipping at him and blaming him for what's
- 19:48Speaker 1: happening to the business. In Chloe's defense, I would have
- 19:54Speaker 1: if I put myself in Chloe's character, the character of Chloe,
- 19:59Speaker 1: I would not have trusted Seth either, because I didn't know, Like,
- 20:03Speaker 1: are you truly like catching feelings for me? Are you
- 20:06Speaker 1: just a motivated salesman playing the long game here? Like
- 20:09Speaker 1: you don't know right? They're trying to bring me over
- 20:13Speaker 1: to the good side. Yeah, it's almost impossible. Like I'm
- 20:15Speaker 1: like not rooting for anybody in this movie. Huh, And
- 20:18Speaker 1: that makes the movie watching experience not fun for me?
- 20:22Speaker 1: Are you ready for did you see that? Sure? Well?
- 20:24Speaker 1: I said it in my first impression. When Cley pulls
- 20:27Speaker 1: up to the winery for the first time, my first
- 20:29Speaker 1: thought was it looks like fall, and it was. This
- 20:32Speaker 1: was filmed in October and November twenty seventeen, and throughout
- 20:36Speaker 1: the movie there are you know this is rural Oregon
- 20:40Speaker 1: that it takes place there are I don't think it
- 20:43Speaker 1: was filmed in Oregon. I'm sure it was filmed in Canada,
- 20:44Speaker 1: but there are glimpses of these trees that are changing colors.
- 20:51Speaker 1: It looked like fall. It's clearly cold while they're filming it.
- 20:55Speaker 1: It's windy. I mean I guess February is cold. But
- 20:57Speaker 1: also thank you to IMDb for pointing out that the
- 21:01Speaker 1: vines would neither have been in leaf or fruiting in February.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Oh really? The grade harvest is late summer through fall.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Oh interesting, Yes, and they don't start leafing until springs.
- 21:12Speaker 1: That's I'm like, you guys do some due diligence when
- 21:14Speaker 1: you're making a ease movie. Why does this need to
- 21:16Speaker 1: be a Valentine movie? And what part of it, other
- 21:18Speaker 1: than calling it my Secret Valentine, needed to be a
- 21:20Speaker 1: Valentine movie? None of it? None of it, None of it.
- 21:24Speaker 1: I want to touch on the chalkboard writing, oh please
- 21:28Speaker 1: not his his typical dude block lettering hers was like
- 21:32Speaker 1: a cursive. Yeah. It was so sloppy to me that
- 21:36Speaker 1: I could like, it's not easy to like write on
- 21:38Speaker 1: a board. Former teacher, I'm looking at one who proditeboards. Okay,
- 21:42Speaker 1: but still, and were you writing cursive? I don't. I
- 21:44Speaker 1: can't remember what gradey weard not teaching. It was just
- 21:47Speaker 1: so sloppy. Talk about like having to pause and read
- 21:51Speaker 1: it because I couldn't read what it said. Sloppy. Do
- 21:55Speaker 1: you think she was doing it? I don't know. I'm sorry,
- 21:58Speaker 1: Lisa Shiver if that's your pechet maybe, but I thought
- 22:02Speaker 1: I remember seeing her. I know they definitely showed her.
- 22:06Speaker 1: I just don't like in the act of writing. I
- 22:08Speaker 1: just don't know if the end result was yeah, yeah,
- 22:11Speaker 1: I don't know. The other did you see? That goes
- 22:14Speaker 1: to my favorite scene when they meet in the convenience
- 22:16Speaker 1: store and they're talking about like popcorn and chocolate. They
- 22:19Speaker 1: are not wrong, hair hot salty popcorn with any virgin
- 22:22Speaker 1: of an eminem is an elite stack experience. Peanut butter eminem's.
- 22:26Speaker 1: But the way that they're like making it out is
- 22:29Speaker 1: like a cold bagged popcorn and like a Hershey bar,
- 22:33Speaker 1: Like I mean, you might get the same result, but like, no,
- 22:36Speaker 1: you need that hot salty meltiness. Yes, there is a
- 22:40Speaker 1: creator on TikTok. She was someone who was doing loaded
- 22:43Speaker 1: waters for a while, so you may have seen her.
- 22:45Speaker 1: She was doing She did loaded popcorn the other day.
- 22:47Speaker 1: She took the bag of microwave popcorn and after it popped,
- 22:51Speaker 1: she's added butter because she was like, it needs more butter.
- 22:54Speaker 1: She added flaky sea salt, and then she put granola
- 22:57Speaker 1: in it that had like little chocolate just a morning
- 23:00Speaker 1: the lower bluff. Oh did she have the lower bleff?
- 23:02Speaker 1: Did she have a baby like a year ago when
- 23:04Speaker 1: she was doing the loaded watery Yeah, that's her. Oh
- 23:07Speaker 1: she had a lower bluff. Yeah, great, lots of complications.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Oh she talked about it. Yeah, Oh I didn't know that?
- 23:13Speaker 1: Is it? Laura Hoffman? Make me TikTok For anyone following,
- 23:16Speaker 1: It's Lauren Hoffman zero on TikTok And yep, here's her
- 23:20Speaker 1: loaded popcorn video. I recommend it. Yeah, it sounded really
- 23:23Speaker 1: good because I have pop like granola. Doesn't that sound good?
- 23:26Speaker 1: Like a little bit? And the granola I have has
- 23:28Speaker 1: like dark chocolate chunks in it, And I was like, oh,
- 23:30Speaker 1: I'm doing that. That sounds amazing. It does sound and
- 23:33Speaker 1: it kind of tricks my brain into thinking I'm eating
- 23:35Speaker 1: like a healthy year snack. Well, popcorn has fiber in it. Anywhere?
- 23:40Speaker 1: Did you see that? Yeah? A couple they have that.
- 23:43Speaker 1: It is a cute scene. It's the wine festival competition
- 23:46Speaker 1: where she's like, it's like a wine tasty competition, but
- 23:50Speaker 1: excuse me, like she wins, she works for a wine
- 23:53Speaker 1: or she doesn't work for a winery, but she's from
- 23:55Speaker 1: the winery cloth, you know what I mean. I didn't
- 23:58Speaker 1: think she should have been eligible to win. I just
- 24:00Speaker 1: felt like there the purpose of this scene is to
- 24:03Speaker 1: only show like some sort of like chemistry. Yeah, them
- 24:06Speaker 1: being cute together? Yeah, exactly, like bobbed for apples. Oh
- 24:10Speaker 1: could you even imagine Lacey Shaver coming up wet face
- 24:14Speaker 1: and hair bobbing for apples? All right? Something else? Don't
- 24:17Speaker 1: on the string eating? Okation? All right? My other did
- 24:21Speaker 1: you see that? Is back to that scene where I
- 24:23Speaker 1: thought Lacey was really good as Chloe with like the
- 24:25Speaker 1: tears in her eyes. And this is when the contracts
- 24:29Speaker 1: were signed and Seth like comes in, He's like, this
- 24:31Speaker 1: is gonna be great for everyone. I'm like, read the room, dude,
- 24:35Speaker 1: how are you not? Chloe is upset about it? Like
- 24:40Speaker 1: you know, I went on a real journey yesterday while
- 24:44Speaker 1: recording our Patreon episode about like oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 24:48Speaker 1: you know since the tone bro exactly yeah, And so
- 24:53Speaker 1: this was the perfect example of it. Y'all. If you

- 25:03Speaker 1: has been spilled. Let's rte this movie. I gave it
- 25:07Speaker 1: two and a half start. Oh look at that. So
- 25:11Speaker 1: it's so funny. We have the same rating, but I
- 25:14Speaker 1: hated it more well. I got real fired up in
- 25:17Speaker 1: my wishes section, so you know, hopefully the rest of
- 25:21Speaker 1: the month is what's the next movie? I don't know Valentine.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Sometime tell me who's in it. The next movie is
- 25:31Speaker 1: All Things Valentine and it is Sampage and the redhead
- 25:37Speaker 1: from Suits Donna from Suits. I can't think of her name.
- 25:40Speaker 1: I can't clock the actress, but I like Sampage. All
