- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hey everyone, welcome to the Almost saidst Podcast. Today is
- 0:09Speaker 2: me and Taylor Dane pop Icon. Thank you so much
- 0:15Speaker 2: for being here. Ben, Ben had to miss today, but
- 0:19Speaker 2: we wanted to talk to you about your appearance on
- 0:22Speaker 2: The Bachelorette a couple of weeks ago, The Golden Bachelorette.
- 0:25Speaker 3: Olden, I know, wow, I know, but it was a
- 0:29Speaker 3: lot of fun.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Okay, so you're performing at the prom date, but you
- 0:34Speaker 2: kind of were almost on the date because you had
- 0:35Speaker 2: gone on a date with Jordan, one of the cast members.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Did you have any random and okay, yeah, brought it
- 0:42Speaker 3: up with Joan. So yeah, he comes this guys comes
- 0:45Speaker 3: back to me backstage when I'm just like probably bending
- 0:49Speaker 3: over in a bathroom and putting slippers on. He goes, hey, Taylor,
- 0:51Speaker 3: do you remember me? And I'm like, you know, number
- 0:53Speaker 3: one line, no.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Because you think he's like a fan that you met
- 0:57Speaker 2: probably in passing.
- 0:58Speaker 3: No, But he I go, you have to remind me,
- 1:01Speaker 3: and he goes Chicago this. So I'm like, yeah, he's
- 1:04Speaker 3: probably right because he probably did bumble and it was
- 1:06Speaker 3: a radius, you know, it was probably and he goes,
- 1:08Speaker 3: you were on a boat, and I go, oh, I
- 1:10Speaker 3: do remember.
- 1:11Speaker 4: You were on a boat. What does that mean?
- 1:13Speaker 3: It was like a drive by. We had a boat
- 1:15Speaker 3: in the harbor and like everybody was partying. It was like,
- 1:18Speaker 3: there's only one area where you're going to go on
- 1:19Speaker 3: a boat in Chicago during the summer months. And he's right,
- 1:22Speaker 3: he came by the boat to say hi. It was
- 1:24Speaker 3: like a drive by.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Oh so it wasn't like a formal sit down date. No,
- 1:29Speaker 2: oh okay, Now did you meet him on bumble?
- 1:32Speaker 3: Well, it might have been bumble or hinge during the time,
- 1:35Speaker 3: and this had to be like five years ago or something.
- 1:37Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:37Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what he said. It was about five years ago.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean he really, he really went out of
- 1:42Speaker 3: his way to I was just like, oh, well, okay, hello.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Okay, Well it's less awkward now that we know that.
- 1:49Speaker 2: It was just like a passing time that you guys had,
- 1:53Speaker 2: not like you had to sit down dinner.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Yeah, he came on the boat, we said hi, we
- 1:56Speaker 3: met up. I didn't know he knew it was me
- 1:58Speaker 3: because I don't really I was when I was on
- 2:00Speaker 3: the site, so I would just be like a normal tailor.
- 2:04Speaker 3: I never say what I do or who I am.
- 2:05Speaker 4: Are you still in the apps?
- 2:07Speaker 3: No, I've been dating somebody that I met on hinge?
- 2:09Speaker 4: Oh nice? How long has that been?
- 2:12Speaker 3: Two years?
- 2:13Speaker 4: Oh my goodness, that's amazing.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Yeah, we call them pants. We love him. Yeah, he's good.
- 2:19Speaker 4: All right. Well, you met a lot of the guys
- 2:21Speaker 4: on that group date. Yeah did you? Did you meet
- 2:23Speaker 4: them backstage or were you just on stage very.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Recently I have a surprise. Yeah, it was supposed to be,
- 2:29Speaker 3: you know, their prom and surprise performance.
- 2:32Speaker 4: Okay.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Was there anybody that stood out to you as like
- 2:36Speaker 2: I'm taken? But I would set that guy up with
- 2:39Speaker 2: my friend?
- 2:40Speaker 3: No?
- 2:41Speaker 2: Oh, you wouldn't take your friends up with any of
- 2:43Speaker 2: those guys. What about Jonathan the prom king?
- 2:46Speaker 3: Doesn't matter?
- 2:47Speaker 1: No?
- 2:48Speaker 4: Why not?
- 2:49Speaker 3: No, he's Jones for anybody. I had my manager with me.
- 2:51Speaker 3: He's not bad. Check him out. He was fine. We
- 2:54Speaker 3: would just stay at work, babe, I have my background
- 2:56Speaker 3: singers with me. No, I wasn't like in the line
- 2:59Speaker 3: of Jones. Sweet her, God, bless her. I'm I can't
- 3:02Speaker 3: wait to see how this how this season turns out
- 3:05Speaker 3: for her? But now she deserves all the props. I
- 3:07Speaker 3: mean she's just was a lovely woman, lovely gal.
- 3:11Speaker 2: You have twins, Yeah, are either of them into dating?
- 3:15Speaker 2: Reality shows?
- 3:16Speaker 3: Uh, my daughter's into anything TV. I got they're twenty
- 3:19Speaker 3: two number one. My daughter's like complete friends aholic. I
- 3:25Speaker 3: just don't it's unbelievable to.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Me that everybody's getting back into those older shows, the
- 3:30Speaker 2: younger people.
- 3:31Speaker 3: I don't think she ever didn't. I mean, yeah, she's
- 3:33Speaker 3: twenty two, and obviously it was it was a little
- 3:35Speaker 3: ahead of her. But she just every night she just
- 3:38Speaker 3: trolls on it. That's her thing to go to sleep with.
- 3:41Speaker 3: It's comfort food.
- 3:42Speaker 4: It's like, it's very comforting.
- 3:45Speaker 3: My son, I would say, he's more into a different
- 3:48Speaker 3: kind of video. It's off on a few other things.
- 3:52Speaker 3: So yeah, I would say he's he's like, you know,
- 3:55Speaker 3: watching any any show, either at sports or he's a
- 3:58Speaker 3: playing basketball, or he's a watching porn.
- 4:00Speaker 2: So we leave it at though, Oh my god, streaming
- 4:06Speaker 2: going on in the household.
- 4:08Speaker 4: Yeah, so we both live with you.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Hell no, okay, saying if I had a bet, if
- 4:13Speaker 3: I had a bet dollars you know, for donuts.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, Well, on a topic that's a little
- 4:19Speaker 2: bit more serious. You had colon cancer a few few
- 4:22Speaker 2: years ago. You had ten inches of your colon removed
- 4:26Speaker 2: and luckily after that surgery you were announced to be
- 4:29Speaker 2: cancer free.
- 4:30Speaker 4: And now you.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Are an advocate for people to get screened and you're working.
- 4:35Speaker 4: With Susan G. Comman this month. Can you speak a
- 4:37Speaker 4: little bit.
- 4:37Speaker 3: About this Well, actually this is my second year working
- 4:40Speaker 3: with wa Cole. I'm the spokesperson and the ambassador for
- 4:43Speaker 3: the Fit for the Cure campaign. So it's been two
- 4:46Speaker 3: years of heaven. It was such a synergistic relive. What
- 4:50Speaker 3: a magical you know, to talk about something that was
- 4:53Speaker 3: so vulnerable for me when I was coming out of
- 4:56Speaker 3: my recovery, which was brutal, and that alone put me
- 5:01Speaker 3: in a very vulnerable place, and I reevaluated a lot
- 5:05Speaker 3: of my daily and purpose and gratitude. So much of
- 5:14Speaker 3: my daily life was reevaluated. Is what's really paramount and
- 5:17Speaker 3: what's most important? You know, relationships, my kids, my family,
- 5:21Speaker 3: my parents that are still alive. God bless me. So
- 5:26Speaker 3: when you you know, everybody in my life has been
- 5:30Speaker 3: my friends. Anybody I know has been touched by somebody
- 5:35Speaker 3: in their life that's had cancer. You know what I
- 5:36Speaker 3: mean to some degree, and whether it's the parent of
- 5:40Speaker 3: brother or sister. So when they reached out to me,
- 5:43Speaker 3: wacle And now you know, after my recovery, which was
- 5:47Speaker 3: really brutal and they cut twelve inches of my colon out,
- 5:50Speaker 3: I chose to do And this was in between two colonoscopies.
- 5:54Speaker 3: I was developing polyps. Early detection is the only way
- 5:58Speaker 3: you're really going to find out, and that was me
- 5:59Speaker 3: going and being just very resolute about doing my testing.
- 6:05Speaker 3: I did it every six months, not every five years,
- 6:08Speaker 3: not once a year, because when they did my first colonoscopy,
- 6:11Speaker 3: they told me to remove your colon. Now we've cut
- 6:14Speaker 3: six polyps. I go, I'm like, what do you mean.
- 6:17Speaker 3: I'm fifty five years old. What does that even mean?
- 6:20Speaker 3: I found another you know, I found another doctor. So
- 6:23Speaker 3: I mean it takes a warrior. You have to take
- 6:25Speaker 3: a warrior position with your health and being an advocate
- 6:28Speaker 3: for yourself. And it was tough at times, and during
- 6:32Speaker 3: the healing of that surgery when we did the removal,
- 6:34Speaker 3: when they found a very form of aggressive cancer. Within
- 6:37Speaker 3: six months, that's how shorter time it took. And if
- 6:41Speaker 3: I had waited a year, I never would have known.
- 6:53Speaker 2: For all the people out there, what were the signs
- 6:57Speaker 2: that you had? What piece of people look out for nothing?
- 7:00Speaker 2: So did you have a random just check out blood.
- 7:03Speaker 3: Regressive form of cancer? What would the signs of it?
- 7:05Speaker 3: You'd think, maybe rect obleeding anything. I had nothing?
- 7:08Speaker 4: No, So what were you in for a routine CHECKOV correct?
- 7:12Speaker 3: I went in for colonoscopy starting like fifty two fifty three.
- 7:16Speaker 3: I was pushing it off as much as I can.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Everybody's like, I did a virtual one and it came back,
- 7:22Speaker 3: you know gray.
- 7:23Speaker 4: A virtual colonoscopy.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Then they go go in for a real colonaspe. I go,
- 7:27Speaker 3: what a waste of time. Let me go in for
- 7:28Speaker 3: the klonoscopy. I go in and then they go, you
- 7:31Speaker 3: have seven to eight ten polyps. Fifteen goes, let's we
- 7:33Speaker 3: want to remove your I That's what I said before.
- 7:36Speaker 3: And I found another second opinion. I went into this
- 7:39Speaker 3: to see this this doctor and he said, listen, I
- 7:42Speaker 3: just let me go back in there redo a klonoscopy
- 7:45Speaker 3: with you, and yeah, I just cut two to three polyps.
- 7:48Speaker 3: We're biop seeing them. He goes, But something tells me
- 7:50Speaker 3: you generate a lot of polyps. Is this in your family.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Then we go into the DNA testing, then we go
- 7:54Speaker 3: into seeing if I have cancer cells, and the whole
- 7:57Speaker 3: thing came up negative, negative, negative. My parents don't, my
- 7:59Speaker 3: fan family, nobody has. So I was like, okay, I go,
- 8:03Speaker 3: so what do you suggest you? Because I suggest you
- 8:04Speaker 3: do colin Oscarby every six months, and we keep checking
- 8:07Speaker 3: these pollups. Nothing, no signs, and that's how we caught
- 8:13Speaker 3: this cancer in between a routine check. Two years ago.
- 8:17Speaker 3: He called me on a Friday and he goes, I
- 8:19Speaker 3: guess I need to talk to you, and then on Monday,
- 8:21Speaker 3: and he goes, take the weekend, enjoy it. And I go,
- 8:23Speaker 3: this doesn't sound right. It is a routine. And he goes,
- 8:27Speaker 3: you have a highly aggressive poll up that I that
- 8:30Speaker 3: have come back. And I go, you're telling me between
- 8:34Speaker 3: six months I've I've got cancer. And he goes, that's correct.
- 8:39Speaker 3: And this type is really rooted in your colon. And
- 8:43Speaker 3: you have ten days, twelve fourteen days to let me
- 8:46Speaker 3: know what you wanted to remove the entire colon or
- 8:48Speaker 3: do what's called the collecting me and cut around it.
- 8:50Speaker 3: But you're still talking twelve fourteen inches of your colon.
- 8:52Speaker 3: And he goes like, hold for album Click. That's how
- 8:56Speaker 3: it went down. So what I can tell you and
- 8:59Speaker 3: promise you was detection, your mammograms, your colonoscopies. This is
- 9:02Speaker 3: the only way you're going to know what your body
- 9:04Speaker 3: personally is doing.
- 9:05Speaker 2: No signs, nothing, and it's really increasingly common amongst young
- 9:10Speaker 2: people now, like thirties and forties.
- 9:13Speaker 3: It's our foods. We have foods in our life, and
- 9:17Speaker 3: as much as you try to avoid it, and as
- 9:19Speaker 3: much as we do in America, they allow our our
- 9:24Speaker 3: system has allowed such poisons to enter our body just
- 9:27Speaker 3: because daily how we eat, what we're exposed to pollutants.
- 9:32Speaker 3: It's criminal, it really is.
- 9:34Speaker 2: I've been doing a lot of research listening to a
- 9:36Speaker 2: lot of podcasts on it lately about the processed foods,
- 9:39Speaker 2: and I'm.
- 9:40Speaker 4: Looking at very label to avoid it. You really can't,
- 9:43Speaker 4: You really can't.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Like all you can do is eat the produce area
- 9:47Speaker 2: and then it has to be super organic and even.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Then no guarantees. It's just because they allow so much
- 9:52Speaker 3: chemicals to be additive to our and it's not monitored,
- 9:58Speaker 3: and it's not it's not least and it's not you know,
- 10:02Speaker 3: so other than farming for yourself and doing all that,
- 10:05Speaker 3: you know, and quite frankly, you know, I moved from
- 10:09Speaker 3: Los Angeles. I live in Santa Barbara. I go, you know,
- 10:12Speaker 3: doing doing your own shopping, meaning like you know, remember
- 10:15Speaker 3: remember when you just the food markets, you know, you
- 10:19Speaker 3: go on the street, you do fresh food, fresh produce,
- 10:22Speaker 3: shopping for your meals daily every other day. It's a
- 10:25Speaker 3: really more healthier way to go. And that is far
- 10:27Speaker 3: more European than it is here. And it's really a
- 10:30Speaker 3: daily it's a caring thing for yourself. It's a loving,
- 10:34Speaker 3: loving process. Taste your food, touch it, you know, and
- 10:37Speaker 3: it's difficult at best.
- 10:39Speaker 4: So that's what you're doing now.
- 10:41Speaker 3: I'm so much I'm hyper hyper aware and I'm hyper
- 10:46Speaker 3: hyper sensitive now to anything that goes on in my body,
- 10:50Speaker 3: feelings in my stomach. I don't doo the same, I
- 10:52Speaker 3: don't do anything the same. They went inside and cut
- 10:55Speaker 3: everything out. I've got a scarf from here to here
- 10:58Speaker 3: that's about fourteen inches is. I woke up and I
- 11:01Speaker 3: was like, well, no robot got into that. Somebody went
- 11:04Speaker 3: in there and dug in there and drew all my
- 11:05Speaker 3: crap out on the table. So something happened, and it
- 11:08Speaker 3: sure did. So you know, yeah, life has changed for me,
- 11:11Speaker 3: but I'm not on a bag. I'm cancer free and
- 11:13Speaker 3: I make sure damn sure that I keep it that way.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Well, we're so happy that you've had a good you
- 11:19Speaker 2: know it was a rough recovery bite that you're fully recovered.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Now amen and woile call and I get to talk
- 11:25Speaker 3: about it with women, especially breast cancer survivors and women
- 11:29Speaker 3: to get in there and take care of yourself, be
- 11:31Speaker 3: your own warrior. Make sure you get your mammograms and
- 11:33Speaker 3: come on in and get a free braw fitting. You
- 11:36Speaker 3: know how many girlfriends I know that, and how I
- 11:38Speaker 3: got a proper bra fitting. By the time I was forty,
- 11:41Speaker 3: I was wearing such non non appropriate size bras for
- 11:47Speaker 3: so long. We have no idea huh what we think
- 11:51Speaker 3: is comfortable versus what really is a proper fitting bra
- 11:54Speaker 3: and what really helps us. It's shocking.
- 11:56Speaker 4: That's so interesting.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Oh it's more than interesting. You shouldn't wear your bra
- 12:00Speaker 3: one day. You wear your bra one day and you
- 12:02Speaker 3: switch it out with three others. So every day that
- 12:05Speaker 3: Brad needs to expand contracts and Spanish and.
- 12:07Speaker 4: Then wait, wait a second, teach me this.
- 12:10Speaker 3: I'm dead serious.
- 12:11Speaker 4: Wait, we have to wear three bras a day.
- 12:13Speaker 3: How I even take my daughter's like, I'm like, what
- 12:15Speaker 3: are you wearing. She's like, I'm wearing my workout r
- 12:18Speaker 3: I go for four days. I go, dude, your titties,
- 12:21Speaker 3: like this is not going to be real. So in
- 12:22Speaker 3: other words, what they told me proper fitting is you
- 12:25Speaker 3: rotate your bras because the elasticity. It's like, you can't
- 12:29Speaker 3: use the same brath for the three days. And they say,
- 12:30Speaker 3: I'm going to put that in the wash and then
- 12:31Speaker 3: let me get the next one and I'm going to
- 12:32Speaker 3: clean that hand clean. No, no, cycle.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Them, cycle them like throughout the day.
- 12:41Speaker 3: No, no, every like in other words, I wore this
- 12:43Speaker 3: bra today, Oh I don't put the same bra on.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Oh okay, okay, well I am guilty of being like
- 12:50Speaker 2: your daughter.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Oh no, my daughter like she's wearing a workout brigo.
- 12:54Speaker 3: You think that's a bra? Anyway, I pull all my
- 12:57Speaker 3: girlfriends by the back and I checked that bra like
- 12:59Speaker 3: they're like, it's I was like a thirty I go,
- 13:02Speaker 3: I'm a thirty six. B They go, girl, you're a
- 13:05Speaker 3: thirty two double d. I'm like, thank you God for
- 13:09Speaker 3: these free, free.
- 13:11Speaker 4: Profitings that comes with the mammogram check. Is that the
- 13:14Speaker 4: relationship here.
- 13:15Speaker 3: This is the way wak holes doing it. This is
- 13:17Speaker 3: how you. Wacole has been working with Susan G. Coleman
- 13:20Speaker 3: Foundation for twenty five years. They've raised over six million dollars.
- 13:23Speaker 3: What they do is every bra you buy through Wacole,
- 13:26Speaker 3: which is one of the biggest, most fantastic, you know,
- 13:29Speaker 3: lingerie companies and bra and they say, come into a Dillards,
- 13:33Speaker 3: come into a Belk store and or do virtually come in,
- 13:36Speaker 3: We'll give you a free bro fitting. We'll figure it out,
- 13:38Speaker 3: We'll give you free bar fitting, and five dollars of
- 13:41Speaker 3: every bra you purchase goes to the Susan G.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Oh.
- 13:43Speaker 4: That's awesome.
- 13:45Speaker 3: So it really as we're in October Breast Cancer Awareness
- 13:48Speaker 3: Month and this is such a time and so yeah,
- 13:50Speaker 3: I've did multiple instores at the beginning of the month
- 13:53Speaker 3: for appearances at a Dillards and a Belk and all
- 13:56Speaker 3: for wa Hole and if you look at the campaign, yeah,
- 13:58Speaker 3: if it's fit for the cure, and it's it's just
- 14:01Speaker 3: been a joyful way to take something that was quite
- 14:04Speaker 3: painful and personal obviously where it's so community. Everybody has
- 14:08Speaker 3: somebody that's been touched by cancer and how we work together.
- 14:11Speaker 3: And I've met some real strong women and some beautiful people.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Oh, you're doing great things. Thank you for coming on here.
- 14:17Speaker 2: You come on talk about the Bachelorette, and we end
- 14:18Speaker 2: up talking about something far more important.
- 14:20Speaker 4: So I really appreciate that.
- 14:21Speaker 3: I think it's more important. I think people watch the
- 14:23Speaker 3: Bachelorette they're going through cancer, and it's a way to
- 14:26Speaker 3: kind of check out. And also, you know, feel for somebody.
- 14:29Speaker 3: You know, Joan is a good human being, and watching
- 14:31Speaker 3: her going through this process of trying to find love,
- 14:33Speaker 3: I thought it was you know, it all is the same.
- 14:37Speaker 3: We all feel the same, you know, not always feel
- 14:40Speaker 3: the same, but we're you know, we're made of the
- 14:41Speaker 3: same stuff. Yeah, I travel through the same things, physical, mental, emotional,
- 14:47Speaker 3: and illness is part of life, you know.
- 14:49Speaker 4: Yeah, and that is full circle of.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Getting well though. It was a real choice. Yeah, well
- 14:55Speaker 3: that's a choice for me now. So what I eat,
- 14:57Speaker 3: what I drink, what I what I do, how I
- 14:59Speaker 3: how I daily take care of myself as part of
- 15:03Speaker 3: staying on top of it.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Well, thanks for sharing all that. We appreciate you, and
- 15:07Speaker 2: we can't wait to see what you do next.
- 15:09Speaker 3: I start my touring again. I just finished, obviously the
- 15:12Speaker 3: Bacheorette and now I am heading off to Soul, Korea.
- 15:16Speaker 3: I will be in Europe now starting March. Tour dates.
- 15:20Speaker 3: Check out Taylor Dane dot com for all new tour dates.

- 15:32Speaker 3: some great stuff coming on and heading to Australia and
- 15:36Speaker 3: Europe in March and April.
- 15:37Speaker 4: You are all over the world. Okay, cool? Well check
- 15:40Speaker 4: out thank you bye, thank you Darling.
- 15:43Speaker 3: Be good.
