- 0:21Speaker 1: So Taylor has a conspiracy theory around Kawhi Leonard that
- 0:24Speaker 1: will get you in just a second. But yesterday we
- 0:27Speaker 1: had two gambling snapfoos.
- 0:29Speaker 2: For lack of a better word, there's no better words
- 0:32Speaker 2: than snoo. That is the best word.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Snap fo Yes, we had two of them. One was
- 0:37Speaker 3: courtesy of Israel. Goody eras we'll start there is he
- 0:40Speaker 3: what happened to you yesterday?
- 0:41Speaker 2: So you were talking up Germany yesterday that was against Paraguay, right,
- 0:44Speaker 2: you were talking up Germany, Germany, Germany. And I was
- 0:47Speaker 2: just like, man, all these people are talking about because
- 0:50Speaker 2: of the result against the US, that's why they feel
- 0:53Speaker 2: like Paraguay is very bad and that Germany is going
- 0:56Speaker 2: to kill that game in that game. And I was like,
- 0:58Speaker 2: you know what, I have a feeling. And so I
- 1:00Speaker 2: went on the app and I put down you know,
- 1:03Speaker 2: ten bucks whatever on Paraguay to win.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Right, big underdog?
- 1:07Speaker 2: Yep? Yeah yeah. So what I didn't realize after checking
- 1:10Speaker 2: the app and being like, wait a second, why don't
- 1:12Speaker 2: I have my money after the game, is that I
- 1:15Speaker 2: chose them to win, which apparently is different than to advance. Yes,
- 1:20Speaker 2: you chose is ridiculous.
- 1:22Speaker 1: You chose them to win.
- 1:23Speaker 2: A regulation is what you chose, right, So when it
- 1:25Speaker 2: says to win, that means if you read the fine
- 1:28Speaker 2: print in regulation or your ninety plus stop its time
- 1:31Speaker 2: or whatever. So when it got to PKS, I had
- 1:33Speaker 2: already lost the bet and I was cheering my behind
- 1:37Speaker 2: off for Paraguay for nothing.
- 1:38Speaker 4: Okay, is he When you see that and it says
- 1:42Speaker 4: Germany Paraguay draw in your mine, are you saying, well,
- 1:46Speaker 4: why would I bet draw? These two teams can't draw?
- 1:48Speaker 2: We need a winner, right? Yes? I never looked at draw.
- 1:52Speaker 2: I went specifically to both or to bet on them
- 1:55Speaker 2: to win. So if I had looked down, I probably
- 1:57Speaker 2: would have said, hell, wait a second, that's not right.
- 1:59Speaker 2: They're just still people's money who chose draw. But also
- 2:02Speaker 2: would have been good information to have yesterday.
- 2:04Speaker 5: Taylor draws no longer in somebody's money, Yes they are.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Well, draws no longer an option, I would assume, right,
- 2:10Speaker 1: I mean.
- 2:10Speaker 2: But through ninety plus stoppage, it's an option. So that's
- 2:13Speaker 2: what I could have won.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Also, did you watch the penalty kicks? Did you watch
- 2:16Speaker 3: it in real time?
- 2:17Speaker 2: Real time?
- 2:17Speaker 1: Man, you're rooting for Paraguay thinking you're winning money.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Like my house depended on it. It was ten dollars.
- 2:24Speaker 2: I'm cheering against the Germans like it's nineteen forty one.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, yeah, I was cheering for the Germans as well.
- 2:30Speaker 3: That's because I had a gambling snapho and my snapho
- 2:33Speaker 3: was listening to boardot Ricardo's advice.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Do we remember the remember what he told us about Germany?
- 2:39Speaker 1: He said, Germany needs to play well?
- 2:41Speaker 2: No, even less than that. Well was it? Germany was
- 2:43Speaker 2: gonna want to play well because their next game is
- 2:50Speaker 2: going to be a tough one.
- 2:51Speaker 3: Well, and because if they lose their out and they
- 2:53Speaker 3: lost in their outs so didn't play well.
- 2:56Speaker 5: I don't know who I'm more mad at Ricardo for
- 2:59Speaker 5: giving that advice for me for being like, you know what,
- 3:01Speaker 5: He's right, they do want to play well.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Same it was like it was. It was such a revelation.
- 3:07Speaker 1: I'm like, you know what, I'm putting everything I have
- 3:09Speaker 1: on Germany.
- 3:13Speaker 3: And they lost in PKS. What happened during the PKS?
- 3:16Speaker 3: I don't like penalty kicks anymore. It's either going to
- 3:19Speaker 3: be all penalty kicks or no penalty kicks. It's the
- 3:21Speaker 3: entire the game of soccer. The beautiful game that I
- 3:24Speaker 3: have grown to love and a doore. Okay, it's not
- 3:27Speaker 3: about five guys just getting a shot. You know, center
- 3:31Speaker 3: caught easy shot from ten feet away. That's not what
- 3:34Speaker 3: the game is. And suddenly soccer turns in. They decide
- 3:37Speaker 3: soccer games with a shootout. That is not representative of
- 3:41Speaker 3: what the actual beautiful game is.
- 3:43Speaker 2: The problem is, Stu, if it is representative of the game,
- 3:47Speaker 2: it would be exactly what you hate. Yeah, it could
- 3:50Speaker 2: be hours upon hours of goalless soccer with a bunch
- 3:55Speaker 2: of tired people because you can't make any more substitutions.
- 3:58Speaker 2: And then are you really judging who the best team
- 4:01Speaker 2: is there or who the most fit team is there?
- 4:03Speaker 1: Well, it's more representative of what the game actually is.
- 4:06Speaker 3: I mean, it'd be like instead of going to overtime
- 4:08Speaker 3: in basketball, that just hey, two guys take Yeah, you
- 4:10Speaker 3: know what, why am I complaining?
- 4:12Speaker 2: I was just about to say, this seems to be
- 4:14Speaker 2: your wheelhouse.
- 4:14Speaker 3: I am the guy who wanted to do away with
- 4:16Speaker 3: extra innings that just have one player come out from
- 4:19Speaker 3: each dugout and have a home run derby.
- 4:20Speaker 1: So I mean, what am I doing?
- 4:22Speaker 4: Stud who says no to this? This proposal here we
- 4:25Speaker 4: shrink the field in half. Yeah, we bring the goal
- 4:29Speaker 4: in and then we play five on five on the
- 4:32Speaker 4: smaller field, golden goal.
- 4:33Speaker 2: It's better. That's better. I mean it's more. I don't know,
- 4:37Speaker 2: a smaller field with less player is it more sort
- 4:39Speaker 2: of indicative of what the game actually is. They's just
- 4:41Speaker 2: a different fun version of it. I think it's b
- 4:43Speaker 2: but I also think that might be better than PK's
- 4:45Speaker 2: it's soccer. Yeah, so before it got to PK's actually
- 4:49Speaker 2: there was a really frustrating part where Germany had scored
- 4:52Speaker 2: would look like go ahead and what would be would
- 4:55Speaker 2: have been potentially a winning goal. Var I feel like
- 4:59Speaker 2: has gotten out of control. Like it's it's as if,
- 5:02Speaker 2: you know, let's just say, since we talked about the
- 5:04Speaker 2: og Annobe tip earlier, right, it's as if the og
- 5:06Speaker 2: Annobe tip happens and then the referees just huddle up
- 5:09Speaker 2: and watch a replay of every angle of the play
- 5:12Speaker 2: from all levels of the floor and then potentially find
- 5:15Speaker 2: an offensive foul that happened just before he tipped it
- 5:18Speaker 2: in and said nope, that doesn't count. Like Var is
- 5:21Speaker 2: an out of control official right now, out of control
- 5:24Speaker 2: because even when it's a questionable call like that one.
- 5:27Speaker 2: There was a goalie in the in the the studio
- 5:30Speaker 2: show who said, I didn't think that was a foul,
- 5:32Speaker 2: and that's a goaltender, right, yeah, And so the foul
- 5:35Speaker 2: happened against the goaltender, and so you would think a
- 5:37Speaker 2: fellow goaltender would say that's definitely foul. It's not a foul.
- 5:39Speaker 2: But they reversed that country's magical moment over something that
- 5:43Speaker 2: was controversial. I thought it was supposed to be clear
- 5:46Speaker 2: and obvious, and that to me, it wasn't clear and obvious,
- 5:48Speaker 2: was it, Taylor? To you?
- 5:49Speaker 4: Uh, I thought it was a foul. But I would
- 5:53Speaker 4: have understood in that situation where if they don't call
- 5:57Speaker 4: it a foul, because you could make an argument both
- 5:59Speaker 4: ways that the goaltender ran into the defender or the
- 6:02Speaker 4: defender blocked the goaltender, so it was called a goal
- 6:07Speaker 4: on the field. I think you probably should have just
- 6:09Speaker 4: just kept it. The second they go to Vaer, though,
- 6:12Speaker 4: that's signaling that they're they're most likely going to reverse
- 6:16Speaker 4: the decision. It was Jonathan tah He's a center back
- 6:20Speaker 4: from Bayern Munich and then he found himself in more
- 6:23Speaker 4: controversy later in the penalty shootout, because at one point
- 6:28Speaker 4: in that penalty shootout, Paraguay was dead. I mean Paraguay
- 6:31Speaker 4: was winning, Germany was dead. They needed Paraguay to miss
- 6:34Speaker 4: those last two penalties and to even have a chance,
- 6:37Speaker 4: and he was heartbroken.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Even though I had already lost the bet.
- 6:41Speaker 4: Paraguay misses the last two penalties to force sudden death
- 6:46Speaker 4: and Germany has the sixth kick coming up, and they're
- 6:50Speaker 4: looking around who's trying to kick? Who's trying to take
- 6:52Speaker 4: the kick.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Because dude, they only announced the first five? Sure right,
- 6:55Speaker 2: thank yous?
- 6:56Speaker 4: Probably yes, The players are going around and asking like
- 7:01Speaker 4: do you want to take the six kick? Do you
- 7:03Speaker 4: want to take the six kick? And according to the
- 7:05Speaker 4: German media and reports and what you could see the
- 7:08Speaker 4: players shaking their heads on the field, they just have
- 7:11Speaker 4: players lining up being like I don't want to kick this.
- 7:14Speaker 4: And with penalty kicks, it feels like one of the
- 7:17Speaker 4: few moments in sports where you could see like the
- 7:20Speaker 4: moment is just getting way too big for players out there.
- 7:24Speaker 2: It's so huge. It's just the one thing that I
- 7:26Speaker 2: wrote down in my notes after that, after two straight pks,
- 7:29Speaker 2: it was the pressure of pks. It's just so intense
- 7:33Speaker 2: because like I've seen plenty of pks over the years,
- 7:36Speaker 2: especially even like in an MLS right with since Messi's
- 7:39Speaker 2: gotten there and stuff, so it's like you can you
- 7:42Speaker 2: get a feel for what they feel like they don't
- 7:44Speaker 2: feel anything like this, Like this is super intense. You've
- 7:47Speaker 2: got guys that are just missing the frame altogether. I
- 7:49Speaker 2: don't know the last time I've seen somebody miss the frame.
- 7:52Speaker 2: And there was like three of them just in that
- 7:54Speaker 2: actual pek in that session there, and so it's funny
- 7:58Speaker 2: to me because you've got guys doing it the way
- 8:00Speaker 2: they would always do it. Like there was one guy
- 8:01Speaker 2: I want to say from Paraguay who hit the post
- 8:03Speaker 2: where he was basically a no look. He'd basically got
- 8:06Speaker 2: the goalie to go one way but kept his face
- 8:09Speaker 2: looking that way and kicked left and missed. I'm like,
- 8:11Speaker 2: in that situation, you're dropping a no look, I mean no, no, no,
- 8:15Speaker 2: I'm staring him meat down at that ball, making sure
- 8:17Speaker 2: I make contact, making sure it's going exactly where I watch.
- 8:20Speaker 1: So Jonathan Ta wanted to take the kick.
- 8:22Speaker 3: He was willing to take the kick because it sounds
- 8:23Speaker 3: like everyone else with Jonathan nah, I'm good, don't walk
- 8:30Speaker 3: the pressure and STU.
- 8:33Speaker 4: Jonathan Ta has never taken a PK before in his life.
- 8:37Speaker 4: He was willing right, and when he went up there
- 8:39Speaker 4: and kicked it, yeah, it looks like he had never
- 8:42Speaker 4: taken a PK in his life before because he put
- 8:44Speaker 4: that not his fault. That game was played in Jellette Stadium.
- 8:47Speaker 4: That kick looked like it went through the uprights of
- 8:50Speaker 4: Jillette Stadium right where you have other players on the team,
- 8:53Speaker 4: players that said said no, Like some of those players
- 8:57Speaker 4: are like the penalty kick takers for their club team. Yes,
- 9:00Speaker 4: and you just saw in the moment they were like,
- 9:03Speaker 4: our nerves are way too big for this. We don't
- 9:05Speaker 4: want to be the ones that mess this up.
- 9:07Speaker 2: And think about that roller coaster of emotions for Todd, right,
- 9:10Speaker 2: so it's not nerve wreck nerve wracking throughout the game. Man,
- 9:14Speaker 2: what a disappointment If we don't win this game, it's
- 9:16Speaker 2: a joke. Oh I scored the game winning goal, yes,
- 9:19Speaker 2: and then it's a full three four five minutes later, No,
- 9:22Speaker 2: you didn't.
- 9:23Speaker 3: It's a great move by Todd because he could say, hey,
- 9:25Speaker 3: at least I was willing to take the kick. I've
- 9:27Speaker 3: never done it before, but at least I was willing
- 9:29Speaker 3: to take it. The rest of my teammates are cowards.
- 9:31Speaker 2: And the rest of his teammates are probabular and their
- 9:32Speaker 2: heads are like, no, we can justify picking him because
- 9:35Speaker 2: he had the goal taken away, so he should have
- 9:37Speaker 2: gotten the glory to get the peak A Now, man,
- 9:39Speaker 2: go take your goals, Go take your pks. If you've
- 9:41Speaker 2: done it before, don't let somebody who's never done it
- 9:44Speaker 2: before take it.
- 9:46Speaker 5: Don't wonder Americans aren't embracing this sport, Like can you imagine,
- 9:50Speaker 5: like in the NBA, them saying, Okay, we're gonna take
- 9:53Speaker 5: free throws to see who advances. Who's going to take
- 9:56Speaker 5: the next one. Can you imagine a bunch of NBA
- 9:58Speaker 5: players being like, Nope, I don't want to take the
- 10:00Speaker 5: free throw.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Right Simmons, Shaquille o'neillses are a take again.
- 10:09Speaker 1: What I'm talking about?
- 10:10Speaker 5: All the guys on the bench like, let me be
- 10:12Speaker 5: the hero man.
- 10:12Speaker 3: One of my favorite things in the NBA is when
- 10:14Speaker 3: Mitchell Robinson gets fouled and Jalen Brunton steps of the line.
- 10:20Speaker 1: They noticed me.
- 10:22Speaker 4: Mikey just made a point that made me think of
- 10:24Speaker 4: something if in the NBA a game was tied and
- 10:27Speaker 4: we didn't want to go to overtime during the regular season,
- 10:30Speaker 4: save some of the players, players are taking off more
- 10:32Speaker 4: games than ever. Now, what if we just had a
- 10:34Speaker 4: free throw shootout?
- 10:36Speaker 2: Oh, sounds pretty boring.
- 10:38Speaker 5: Play knockout.
- 10:39Speaker 3: I mean, it's the equivalent of what they're doing, right,
- 10:42Speaker 3: I mean, but the pks are more exciting than the
- 10:44Speaker 3: actual game.
- 10:44Speaker 2: I like what we used to do on our eight
- 10:46Speaker 2: foot rim in the front yard is just just try
- 10:49Speaker 2: to dunk on somebody. You're the blocker, you're underneath the rim,
- 10:52Speaker 2: I'm the dunker. Let's go. Anytime you get a dunk in,
- 10:55Speaker 2: that's a score.
- 10:56Speaker 3: Can you dunk on an eight foot rim? Of course, Taylor,
- 10:59Speaker 3: do you think you could dunk it at eight foot rim?
- 11:00Speaker 3: I'm thinking six for me.
- 11:01Speaker 1: What do you no?
- 11:02Speaker 4: Eight foot rim?
- 11:03Speaker 2: It's easy. Yeah, I'm Derek Jones. I'm just gonna say
- 11:10Speaker 2: that was a real confident.
- 11:11Speaker 5: Of course, I can from a guy who hasn't gotten
- 11:14Speaker 5: a hitting softball.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm just saying yeah, but he's good as a
- 11:16Speaker 1: real confident. But he's good at basketball, Like I've seen
- 11:19Speaker 1: him play basketball.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Yes, I would like to announce I am not a
- 11:23Speaker 2: poor athlete. Okay, I am not a poor athlete. I'm
- 11:25Speaker 2: a forty nine year old who'd never played softball before.
- 11:28Speaker 2: All right, that's totally different.
- 11:31Speaker 1: You're like Jonathan not taking a PK when you play softball.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Go ahead, stude.
- 11:36Speaker 4: The other game yesterday Morocco Netherlands was banger, an absolute
- 11:40Speaker 4: banger of a game. Exactly is he where Netherlands they
- 11:44Speaker 4: win their group and and their reward for winning their
- 11:47Speaker 4: group in the round of thirty two is playing a
- 11:50Speaker 4: team that's also ranked in the top ten ahead of them.
- 11:53Speaker 4: A tough draw for Netherlands getting eliminated there on pks two.
- 11:57Speaker 4: But that was such a great day of soccer yesterday
- 12:00Speaker 4: that again Americans can't help themselves and want to fix soccer.
- 12:05Speaker 4: People want the World Cup now every year.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Every year, and in the States, in the United States
- 12:11Speaker 3: anywhere else. Yes, yes, you want us to love soccer.
- 12:14Speaker 3: Bring that thing to us every single year.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Let that thing be in Japan. And all these games
- 12:19Speaker 2: are at three in the morning, and they're like, what
- 12:20Speaker 2: is it with this sport?
- 12:32Speaker 3: I gotta tell you us soccer fans are making me nervous.
- 12:35Speaker 3: They are acting like they're already on to the round
- 12:37Speaker 3: of sixteen.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Don't do it. We don't deserve to be this confident.
- 12:40Speaker 3: We have no reason to be this confident that our
- 12:43Speaker 3: team hour is going to breeze to a round of
- 12:46Speaker 3: thirty two victory. I don't even know who they play.
- 12:49Speaker 3: I don't care who they play. We should not be
- 12:51Speaker 3: as confident as we are that the United States is
- 12:54Speaker 3: going to.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Advance twov one. It's US versus Bosnia and Herzego.
- 12:57Speaker 5: Be wow, Taylor, did you just cut that audio from
- 13:00Speaker 5: a month ago when he said the same thing about
- 13:02Speaker 5: the Knicks. Oh, we can't be too confident. Everybody's sitting
- 13:06Speaker 5: here talking about how competent, right, but we're not that good.
- 13:09Speaker 2: It's the same argument.
- 13:11Speaker 5: We are going to the round of thirty to sixteen.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Well why stop? There?
- 13:14Speaker 1: Have us won the whole damn thing?
- 13:16Speaker 2: I mean what, I don't want that, But I Harden's
- 13:21Speaker 2: not waiting for us in the next round.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Just play the team in front of you.
- 13:24Speaker 2: I get it. Yes, I don't want more Americans to
- 13:26Speaker 2: show their ignorance when it comes to like world history
- 13:29Speaker 2: or geography or whatever, because there's just one clip of
- 13:32Speaker 2: this newscaster saying I don't even know where Bosnia is.
- 13:35Speaker 2: I don't know anything about Bosnia, but we're gonna kick
- 13:37Speaker 2: their button. And it's just like, man, there is a
- 13:39Speaker 2: great story there if you just did a little research,
- 13:41Speaker 2: I got news for you. Say it's too late for that.
- 13:43Speaker 3: I know.
- 13:44Speaker 2: I just don't talk about the other team. Just talk
- 13:47Speaker 2: about the US team. We're idiots.
- 13:49Speaker 1: I mean, we feel like we own soccer.
- 13:50Speaker 2: We do geographical, historical and soccer idiots.
- 13:54Speaker 3: H Taylor, don't you feel like the fan base, the
- 13:56Speaker 3: US soccer fan base, I'm guessing the soccer zealot who
- 14:00Speaker 3: would be who have been behind this team for a
- 14:02Speaker 3: while now and want this team to succeed. They're throwing
- 14:06Speaker 3: up at the notion of all of us. Johnny cum
- 14:08Speaker 3: lately staking hey, we're gonna breeze through the round of
- 14:11Speaker 3: thirty two. I'm guessing they're thinking more like I'm thinking,
- 14:14Speaker 3: which is, hey, we shouldn't be confident against anybody, don't you.
- 14:18Speaker 4: Think to an extent? But I think a lot of
- 14:23Speaker 4: even those fans are looking at this team right now.
- 14:26Speaker 4: People call this the golden generation right now of US soccer.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Yeah, what was that Jesus for you know, man.
- 14:32Speaker 1: I mean there's a golden generation back in nineteen eighty four.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Can you call it a golden generation when what is
- 14:38Speaker 2: your ceiling? It's not winning any gold long generation's like
- 14:41Speaker 2: maybe finishing in the semis of a big tournament.
- 14:43Speaker 4: It's the golden generation because for the first time in
- 14:47Speaker 4: US soccer history. To contrast Stew's point there, USA has
- 14:52Speaker 4: never had their best players playing in the best leagues
- 14:55Speaker 4: in Europe. Like you look around right now, if you
- 14:58Speaker 4: turn on a Premier League game, a La Liga game,
- 15:01Speaker 4: a Italian Serie A game, there's most likely going to
- 15:04Speaker 4: be some kind of American influence in this team. And
- 15:07Speaker 4: I think that's the reason why a lot of people
- 15:09Speaker 4: are confident in this team. Where I cannot emphasize it enough.
- 15:14Speaker 4: Baligan right now is giving so many USA fans confident
- 15:18Speaker 4: because we have never had a player up top like
- 15:21Speaker 4: when you when he doesn't play in the Turkey game
- 15:24Speaker 4: or the Turkey A game, excuse me, and you see
- 15:26Speaker 4: Timothy Weya starting at striker. That's the problem with the
- 15:30Speaker 4: USA teams in the past. They just don't have a
- 15:32Speaker 4: clinical goal scorer. And right now with Balgin, we're looking
- 15:36Speaker 4: at all these other teams and saying, why not US.
- 15:38Speaker 4: I believe that we will win, so think that we
- 15:39Speaker 4: will win.
- 15:41Speaker 3: It's a terrible it's the best of the worst, but
- 15:44Speaker 3: you're right, we're bad at it, but we own the sport.
- 15:46Speaker 2: So the Golden Generation is just hey, we caught up
- 15:49Speaker 2: to the rest of the world, like, hey, we're like
- 15:51Speaker 2: you now playing your league. And the T shirt so
- 15:55Speaker 2: Stu Gott says they should never be over confident, right,
- 15:58Speaker 2: because we don't have a history of doing anything, so
- 16:00Speaker 2: that you'd feel better if the US came out with
- 16:02Speaker 2: T shirts. It says, trust us, we're scared.
- 16:05Speaker 1: We're scared too.
- 16:07Speaker 2: We really don't know what's gonna happen here. That's on
- 16:09Speaker 2: the back.
- 16:10Speaker 4: But I think you would get that level of nervousness
- 16:13Speaker 4: from the fans if they just had a worst draw
- 16:16Speaker 4: in the bracket, like if they got if Ivory Coast
- 16:18Speaker 4: was their second placed game, if if the Morocco was
- 16:22Speaker 4: their second place game. Yes, the fact that the USA
- 16:26Speaker 4: in this in this path has Bosnia and then the
- 16:29Speaker 4: winner of Senegal Belgium Belgium has given this USA team
- 16:34Speaker 4: historical problems in the past.
- 16:36Speaker 2: But they're also a disappointment of a team too correct.
- 16:39Speaker 4: I think that's where a lot of the confidence from
- 16:41Speaker 4: the USA is coming, just the draw being so favorable.
- 16:44Speaker 4: I don't think any USA fans are looking at the
- 16:46Speaker 4: bracket and saying, you know, if we get to the
- 16:48Speaker 4: quarterfinals and it's Spain waiting for US or it's Portugal
- 16:50Speaker 4: waiting for US, I think you're going to see that
- 16:52Speaker 4: confidence dip. But at that point we were ridding a
- 16:55Speaker 4: lot of momentum and Stu, you know this. You get
- 16:56Speaker 4: to the quarterfinals, anything can happen.
- 16:58Speaker 3: Yeah, my brother already has them in the semi finals.
- 17:01Speaker 3: He started watching soccer yesterday and his reason is, well,
- 17:04Speaker 3: his reasoning is we be Paraguay by by three goals,
- 17:07Speaker 3: and Paraguay be Germany, and Germany is one of the
- 17:09Speaker 3: best teams in soccers.
- 17:12Speaker 5: Two transitive property.
- 17:15Speaker 1: He's never called me with a soccer take before.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Wow, He's invested. He goes, this is our year, Come
- 17:22Speaker 2: get out of here. He thinks it happens every year,
- 17:24Speaker 2: doesn't he.
- 17:26Speaker 4: So your brother having USA in the semi finals already
- 17:30Speaker 4: made me think of this other point that US fans
- 17:33Speaker 4: are making right now. And I hate to tell people this.
- 17:36Speaker 4: The rest of the world is laughing at USA fans
- 17:38Speaker 4: right now. Nate Silver.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Nate Silver yep tweeted that Nate Silver, Yes, that date's silver.
- 17:45Speaker 4: Nate Silver tweeted, I think the World Cup should pause
- 17:49Speaker 4: for about three days in between the group and knockout
- 17:51Speaker 4: stages so people can fill out brackets.
- 17:55Speaker 2: They need three days. Nate a thirty two team brack.
- 18:01Speaker 4: Too. He expanded and said, granted, mostly an American thing,
- 18:05Speaker 4: but this is a very important mechanism for the NCAA
- 18:09Speaker 4: tournament for bringing casual It's like the World Cup really
- 18:12Speaker 4: needs to try to bring in casuals.
- 18:14Speaker 2: He ever, took three days to fill out a bracket.
- 18:17Speaker 1: They got me and my brother. They're fine.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Also, you can fill out the bracket before the knockout
- 18:23Speaker 2: group stage the group stage is over because by the
- 18:26Speaker 2: last day pretty much everything.
- 18:27Speaker 3: Yeah, but you know what, here's what Nate listen. Nate
- 18:29Speaker 3: does research when he fills out of bracket. It's not
- 18:31Speaker 3: the way to fill out a bracket. It's not the
- 18:33Speaker 3: fun way to fill out a bracket. Just you know,
- 18:34Speaker 3: look at the games and choose from your gut. You
- 18:36Speaker 3: know what, does your gut tell you? That's how you
- 18:38Speaker 3: do should take you five seconds, Nate.
- 18:40Speaker 4: It is so perfect that you look at or you
- 18:42Speaker 4: look across the World Cup and you look at some
- 18:44Speaker 4: of the fan bases Colombia, Spain, Brazil, countries that live
- 18:50Speaker 4: and die with their national teams, and Nate Silver comes
- 18:54Speaker 4: along and being like, hey, Columbia fans, you know how
- 18:57Speaker 4: you can be even more excited about this tournament?
- 18:59Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 19:00Speaker 2: All the bracket it's.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Because soccer is ours and they.
- 19:02Speaker 5: Just wincket picking for the five twelve upset can board
- 19:10Speaker 5: ofp Ricardo?
- 19:10Speaker 3: Tell me who has to play well today? Who wants
- 19:14Speaker 3: to play well? Who wants to play well today? Who
- 19:17Speaker 3: does he have?
- 19:17Speaker 2: Mexico? Oh right, Mexico wants to play well.
- 19:20Speaker 5: Yeah, they do want it today.
- 19:22Speaker 2: You know what? Thank you for telling me that, because
- 19:23Speaker 2: I was considering putting a flyer on Ecuador.
- 19:25Speaker 1: I am. I am?
- 19:26Speaker 2: Now who was it that ruined a goal for us
- 19:32Speaker 2: yesterday that we were watching Brazil Japan? Was that was that? Ricardo?
- 19:39Speaker 2: Because I saw a video the other day of a
- 19:42Speaker 2: group of people watching an Ecuador game. Who did they
- 19:45Speaker 2: did they score late against Germany? Is that who that was? Yeah?
- 19:48Speaker 2: They scored in the seventy seventh minute against Germany and
- 19:52Speaker 2: it's a big group. Everybody's in their flag colors on
- 19:54Speaker 2: their t shirts. And one guy in the front picks
- 19:57Speaker 2: up his phone, gets really excited, stand up and starts
- 20:01Speaker 2: jumping up and down in the front of the room,
- 20:03Speaker 2: and everybody's like, what the hell's going on. In like
- 20:05Speaker 2: thirty seconds later, boom, everybody explodes because they saw it
- 20:08Speaker 2: on their TV. His phone was ahead. I'm telling you
- 20:11Speaker 2: people need to put their devices away if you just
- 20:13Speaker 2: want to watch and experience that, because everybody's watching it
- 20:16Speaker 2: at different times, like at least thirty second delay.
- 20:19Speaker 4: So you guys are trying to find an edge in
- 20:20Speaker 4: this Mexico Ecuador game tonight. Yeah, I saw a report
- 20:25Speaker 4: online from a Mexico reporter where she said fans have
- 20:30Speaker 4: arrived with their cars, trumpets, motorcycles and everything they can
- 20:35Speaker 4: to make noise outside of the Ecuador hotel last night,
- 20:39Speaker 4: so they were trying their best to keep Ecuador up.
- 20:42Speaker 4: And in this video, it is comical because it's just
- 20:46Speaker 4: people standing outside this hotel and they're just blasting their
- 20:50Speaker 4: car horns where you could see in the video like
- 20:52Speaker 4: players are like peeking out their window being like what's
- 20:55Speaker 4: going on, but also it's the nine pm game tonight.
- 20:58Speaker 4: I'm not sure that they have plenty of time to
- 21:02Speaker 4: get rest.
- 21:02Speaker 1: I don't care. That's some gamesmanship right there, they care more? Right?
- 21:06Speaker 2: Do teams have to hide where they're staying? Now? Do
- 21:09Speaker 2: they have to be all incognito for situations like this?
- 21:11Speaker 2: Because I feel like this happened to non soccer teams, right,
- 21:15Speaker 2: we hear this about what college football teams maybe pro
- 21:18Speaker 2: football teams during the playoffs.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Did someone go to Wemby's Hotel again?
- 21:21Speaker 2: Didn't Michael Jordan famously in their theory that pizza. Yes,
- 21:25Speaker 2: but I think World Cup is probably going to consider Hey,
- 21:27Speaker 2: why do we have to tell people where we're staying.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Let's just be quiet about it.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Yes, the flu game sounds much better than the food poison.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Yeah right, Yeah, that somebody poisoned my pizza game and
- 21:36Speaker 2: doesn't really roll off that tongue.
- 21:38Speaker 4: Sounds cooler, though, It's a better you defeated What sounds better?
- 21:43Speaker 4: You defeated the flu or you defeated somebody trying to
- 21:45Speaker 4: poison you?
- 21:45Speaker 2: Right, somebody sneezed on you or somebody trying to kill you.
- 21:49Speaker 3: I believe the latter is better, so I can't believe
- 21:52Speaker 3: Mexico did that. That's like taking a page at of
- 21:54Speaker 3: hour book. We don't know how to celebrate and do
- 21:55Speaker 3: these things. We would arrive at a hotel the night
- 21:58Speaker 3: before nine pm.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Game, you know, I wouldn't. I'd just be at home watching.
- 22:04Speaker 2: I'd be getting reports from Taylor Fez. Yeah.
- 22:07Speaker 3: I don't like pks now. It's the only thing I
- 22:10Speaker 3: liked about the sport. Now I'm not certain whether or
- 22:12Speaker 3: not we should have him at all.
- 22:14Speaker 1: I don't know what to do. Thank you, Mikey was
- 22:19Speaker 1: waiting for it. I didn't leave an opening, did I.
- 22:22Speaker 2: I wasn't listening anyway.
- 22:23Speaker 3: Taylor has a conspiracy theory surrounding Kawhi Leonard here, and
- 22:27Speaker 3: any time I hear conspiracy theory, I want to hear more.
- 22:30Speaker 2: So what is the conspiracy theory here with Kawhi?
- 22:33Speaker 1: So?
- 22:33Speaker 4: Kawhi Leonard's camp is saying he's only signing an extension
- 22:38Speaker 4: if he goes to Toronto. Correct?
- 22:40Speaker 2: Is he correct? It's current reporting.
- 22:43Speaker 4: And that's strange because after winning the title there in
- 22:45Speaker 4: twenty nineteen, he was so adamant about leaving there. So
- 22:48Speaker 4: I'm trying to figure out what changed for Kawhi Leonard,
- 22:52Speaker 4: which brings me to the smoking Gun. Oh wow, what
- 22:55Speaker 4: would you do if you were the target of a
- 22:58Speaker 4: federal investigation and you knew you were guilty?
- 23:02Speaker 1: Go to Canada?
- 23:03Speaker 2: I would go to Canada.
- 23:04Speaker 4: You'd flee the.
- 23:04Speaker 5: Country through my backyard.
- 23:07Speaker 2: I mean, that's the first thing I thought of when
- 23:09Speaker 2: I heard Smoking Gun.
- 23:10Speaker 1: By the way, So that's what you're thinking. He's going
- 23:13Speaker 1: to Canada anyway from.
- 23:15Speaker 2: The Witness Protection Program. Baby, Like, he's gonna be in
- 23:18Speaker 2: Canada and he's not gonna win another title, so nobody's
- 23:20Speaker 2: gonna remember he's out there.
- 23:22Speaker 4: So the biggest flaw in this theory is the fact
- 23:24Speaker 4: that he would still play half his games in America
- 23:28Speaker 4: and half his games in Toronto. But I think this
- 23:31Speaker 4: would almost be like a remember when the Yankees were
- 23:34Speaker 4: trying to lure Roger Clemens back from retirement and they
- 23:38Speaker 4: were like, hey, Roger Clemens, if you come here, like
- 23:40Speaker 4: you might not have to go on road trips, you're
- 23:42Speaker 4: not pitching, well, will cater to whatever Roger Clemens needs
- 23:47Speaker 4: to come back. I think that might be what we
- 23:49Speaker 4: have working.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Here, Like we will man phrasing, we will manage your
- 23:54Speaker 2: load so well that you won't even have to leave
- 23:56Speaker 2: Canada phrasing.
- 24:00Speaker 1: So he's running away from the from from from US
- 24:03Speaker 1: law enforcement essentially, is what you're saying.
- 24:06Speaker 3: It'd be great to Pablo Tore prevented Kawhi Leonard from
- 24:08Speaker 3: coming to the Heats the.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Old I mean, he didn't do anything crazy illegal, He
- 24:12Speaker 2: didn't do anything illegal. Actually, he just circumvented the salary cap.
- 24:15Speaker 2: And that's not even him doing it illegally, that's the uh,
- 24:17Speaker 2: that's the Clippers doing that. But I do think there's
- 24:19Speaker 2: something to that in this sense of all right, Look,
- 24:23Speaker 2: I literally swung as big as I can swing. I
- 24:25Speaker 2: went to La try to be bigger than the Lakers
- 24:29Speaker 2: in LA, brought my boy Paul George with me, effectively
- 24:33Speaker 2: built a you know, today's version of a super team
- 24:37Speaker 2: and failed miserably. And now they're all up in my pocket.
- 24:40Speaker 2: And I don't want to talk about this. I know
- 24:41Speaker 2: there's gonna have to be something to be discussed. I'm
- 24:44Speaker 2: going to go back to my comfort zone, my little
- 24:46Speaker 2: cocoon up in Toronto, where no matter what happens, they're
- 24:49Speaker 2: gonna love me forever.
- 24:50Speaker 4: Is he is there a team that would retire Kauwhai's
- 24:53Speaker 4: number because it feels like a rare spot that a
- 24:55Speaker 4: two time Finals MVP, seven time first or second team
- 25:00Speaker 4: All NBA selection wouldn't And it feels like maybe his
- 25:04Speaker 4: only path to getting his jersey retired is going back
- 25:07Speaker 4: to Toronto and trying to build on that legacy.
- 25:09Speaker 3: I think if he never spends another day in Toronto,
- 25:11Speaker 3: that jersey is still getting retired, don't you.
- 25:13Speaker 2: I do, because one year it'll be title their only title. Yeah,
- 25:17Speaker 2: It'll be fifty three years from now when I'll be saying, wow,
- 25:20Speaker 2: are the Raptor's ever going to get that second title?
- 25:22Speaker 2: It's going to be very New York Knicks like, except
- 25:23Speaker 2: only in Canada, and so yeah, I wouldn't be surprised
- 25:26Speaker 2: at all if he retires his number there. I also
- 25:28Speaker 2: wouldn't be shocked at all if an organization that has
- 25:30Speaker 2: Bruce Bowen's number retired would retire Kawhi Leonards as well.
- 25:34Speaker 2: I like could plant a tree in his honor right now,
- 25:38Speaker 2: not if Bill Plashky has anything to say about it.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Splashky
