Tragedy struck El Dorado County as 20-year-old Correctional Officer Ryan Marietti died in a solo-vehicle crash on Highway 50 near Strawberry early Friday morning. Just one year into his role with the sheriff’s office and a recent Ponderosa High School graduate, Marietti was off-duty at the time of the accident, which occurred just after 4 AM. Authorities are investigating, with no confirmation yet on whether alcohol or speed were factors.
