- 0:00Speaker 1: Here we are guys, our last break of the day
- 0:03Speaker 1: on this Tuesday. Thank you guys as always. And Steve,
- 0:07Speaker 1: I wanted to ask you something. I know it's your
- 0:09Speaker 1: anniversary tomorrow coming up in congratulations nineteen years. Tommy had
- 0:14Speaker 1: his anniversary last week, twenty five years.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Big.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Yeah. We talk a lot about love on the show
- 0:21Speaker 1: and all of that. You know, you get married for love.
- 0:23Speaker 1: But what about commitment, Steve, What role does commitment play
- 0:29Speaker 1: in a marriage?
- 0:30Speaker 2: I mean, look, commitment is everything because you got to
- 0:33Speaker 2: make several commitments. You got to make a commitment to yourself.
- 0:38Speaker 2: You got to make a commitment to your wife or
- 0:41Speaker 2: your husband. You got to make a commitment to your family.
- 0:44Speaker 2: You got to make and make a commitment to the
- 0:46Speaker 2: survival of it all. You got to make a commitment
- 0:50Speaker 2: to the institution of marriage. And every day you got
- 0:54Speaker 2: to wake up and decide, this is what I'm doing,
- 0:56Speaker 2: even when it gets hard. You got to be commited
- 1:00Speaker 2: to it. Like I am determined to stay together through
- 1:07Speaker 2: any arguments. We may have disagreements, fallouts, whatever. I am determined.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Now there's some things you can do that that's gonna
- 1:16Speaker 2: cause that to not happen. I'm not tolerating disloyalty. I'm
- 1:21Speaker 2: not tolerating that, and I'm not tolerating disrespect. You're not
- 1:26Speaker 2: gonna disrespect me or be disloyal to me in any way.
- 1:30Speaker 2: And I sit there and try to get through it
- 1:32Speaker 2: and forgive you for it, because I may forgive you
- 1:36Speaker 2: for it, but I'm gonna go home with my life,
- 1:38Speaker 2: and I don't expect anybody to treat me any different.
- 1:42Speaker 2: I don't because if I'm gonna disrespect this woman and
- 1:47Speaker 2: do disrespectful stuff to her and expect her to lap
- 1:51Speaker 2: it up and like it, that ain't right. So you know,
- 1:56Speaker 2: it takes a commitment, man. It takes a commitment to
- 1:59Speaker 2: stay in there for the kids, for the family. You know,
- 2:03Speaker 2: it takes a commitment, man, because when you leave this person,
- 2:07Speaker 2: you ain't just leaving you. Man, That kid is over
- 2:10Speaker 2: there going. Why am I daddy gone? You know why
- 2:15Speaker 2: my mama not here no more? The kid don't understand that, man.
- 2:21Speaker 2: And now kids are survivors. They gonna make it through,
- 2:24Speaker 2: and it's best if you're gon't break up. You want
- 2:26Speaker 2: to try to be coparent the correct way and never
- 2:29Speaker 2: step out the kids life so they don't suffer, you know,
- 2:34Speaker 2: And I'm not saying marriages are perfect because it's hard. Man.
- 2:37Speaker 2: It's hard being married. But you got to get committed.
- 2:42Speaker 2: And you know how I know that because I ain't
- 2:45Speaker 2: always been committed. I know what that is. I know
- 2:48Speaker 2: what it is now to be committed on more than
- 2:52Speaker 2: one level. I am committed to another person's happiness, but
- 2:58Speaker 2: now I'm not responsible for her happiness. See, I had
- 3:02Speaker 2: to learn that. Bishop Jakes told me that one time.
- 3:05Speaker 2: He said, you are not responsible to make another person happy.
- 3:11Speaker 2: That's not your responsibility, nor should you make it yours. Man.
- 3:17Speaker 2: You ever tried to make another person happy before? Man,
- 3:23Speaker 2: that's crazy. That's a daunting task. You want to compliment
- 3:29Speaker 2: their happiness. So I finally married a person who was
- 3:32Speaker 2: just a happy person, and it taught me how to
- 3:37Speaker 2: enjoy and it freed me up. Now we're gonna go
- 3:41Speaker 2: off subject for a minute because I touched on this
- 3:43Speaker 2: early and I want to hit it right away. You know,
- 3:45Speaker 2: it was Father's Day, man, and I have to talk
- 3:47Speaker 2: to a lot of fatherless boys, and I was talking
- 3:49Speaker 2: to the mothers yesterday morning before the graduation started, and
- 3:53Speaker 2: I thanked them for entrusting their children's lives to me
- 3:56Speaker 2: for four days and we had a tornado scare down
- 3:59Speaker 2: there and to move everybody to cover. The sirens was
- 4:02Speaker 2: going off down there by my ranch. It was a
- 4:04Speaker 2: lot going on. I was talking to the mothers that
- 4:07Speaker 2: I was asking the mothers, if you're in this room
- 4:09Speaker 2: and you're using your child as a pond, to please
- 4:12Speaker 2: stop it. Please stop making your father the father your
- 4:17Speaker 2: child child because he hasn't paid child support or he
- 4:20Speaker 2: behind on payments. You keeping him from the kid. Stop
- 4:23Speaker 2: because this man has moved on and found another woman
- 4:26Speaker 2: and he got a family somewhere else, and you're keeping
- 4:28Speaker 2: him from the kid. Stop doing that if you're doing that,
- 4:31Speaker 2: because you're hurting your son. Your children don't know that
- 4:33Speaker 2: the child supportments is in the rears. They just want
- 4:36Speaker 2: their father. And so I've asked women to do that.
- 4:39Speaker 2: But I won't say something to women on behalf of men,
- 4:43Speaker 2: because a lot of good fathers out Here's a lot
- 4:45Speaker 2: of good men out here. The two things that men
- 4:48Speaker 2: want most from a woman is peace and respect. You
- 4:55Speaker 2: could tell us you love us all you want, that's cool,
- 4:57Speaker 2: but can you give us peace and respect. Respect is
- 5:03Speaker 2: honoring me as your husband, as I honor you. As
- 5:06Speaker 2: my wife. Just honor me, give me credit due, you
- 5:10Speaker 2: know whatever. But the peace part. If a man cannot
- 5:16Speaker 2: come home and find peace, this man ain't got long.
- 5:21Speaker 2: He don't have long because when your husband is out there, man,
- 5:25Speaker 2: he fighting the war that is very unsimilar to the
- 5:28Speaker 2: war that you are fighting. He're fighting against what they've
- 5:32Speaker 2: been doing, the system has been doing to us for
- 5:36Speaker 2: hundreds of years. He out there fighting that, and he
- 5:39Speaker 2: out there fighting trying to take care of the family.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Put a roof over your head, provide food, shelter, and clothing.
- 5:43Speaker 2: And when he come home after that war, he can't
- 5:46Speaker 2: come in the house and fight another one. He just
- 5:49Speaker 2: can't do it, y'all. And ladies, well, we got things
- 5:52Speaker 2: to discuss at this house. But he needs some peace though,
- 5:55Speaker 2: because if you don't give him that peace, he can't
- 5:58Speaker 2: fight the war out there and come in the house
- 5:59Speaker 2: and fight that one too. He not gonna win. He
- 6:04Speaker 2: got no way to recharge himself. So now he back
- 6:07Speaker 2: out the door the next morning to fight the blind war.
- 6:11Speaker 2: But knowing goodn't well, when you pull up at the
- 6:13Speaker 2: house tomorrow evening, then he gonna walk in the house
- 6:16Speaker 2: and fight another war. Find another way pick a day,
- 6:23Speaker 2: Sunday evening, anything, but let that man have some peace,
- 6:27Speaker 2: provide a peaceful environment. And that's all I'm just talking
- 6:30Speaker 2: about on behalf of men. If that helps you don't now,
- 6:33Speaker 2: I know women do there some men done that. I
- 6:35Speaker 2: got all that. Y'all have a nice day to day.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Uncle Steve just said it the way he will, just
- 6:40Speaker 2: saying it. That's all.
