- 1:19Speaker 4: what is it?
- 1:19Speaker 3: A Thursday?
- 1:20Speaker 4: The last Thursday in June. We were in the dregs
- 1:21Speaker 4: of the off season, and uh, we're wondering what we're
- 1:24Speaker 4: going to talk about Patriots today. I feel like we
- 1:26Speaker 4: had a good run, Paul on Monday or on Tuesday,
- 1:27Speaker 4: we had some Patriots things to talk about.
- 1:29Speaker 3: How much this happened over the last little.
- 1:30Speaker 7: Strands of things that have popped up.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Somebody said something.
- 1:33Speaker 7: Unfortunately, I don't think we have one of those little
- 1:35Speaker 7: strands today that popped up.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Now that means I talk about the Bear. Don't get
- 1:40Speaker 3: me started.
- 1:40Speaker 7: I know, well I haven't watched it.
- 1:43Speaker 2: I haven't watched it. You guys can't talk about that.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Yeah, well we might.
- 1:46Speaker 7: Talk about I watched it, and I'm not really sure
- 1:48Speaker 7: I'm qual if I talk about.
- 1:50Speaker 4: I watched it. I'm not sure what I watched. But
- 1:52Speaker 4: we're going to watch Are we going right into it?
- 1:54Speaker 4: Because I mean I'm not, but yeah, maybe we'll we'll
- 1:57Speaker 4: we'll get into it as as we go. But of
- 2:00Speaker 4: course we had, you know, training camp dates announced and yeah,
- 2:03Speaker 4: we're just you know, we're kind of tread and water
- 2:05Speaker 4: a little bit.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Here. I was looking through some of the clips.
- 2:07Speaker 4: You know, we get the emails in the morning of stories,
- 2:09Speaker 4: and man, there wasn't even anything. Looked like ben Volin
- 2:11Speaker 4: went through and just kind of plucked quotes about Drake
- 2:14Speaker 4: May from the spring and you know, kind of put
- 2:16Speaker 4: it together, but no new information, just kind of talking
- 2:19Speaker 4: about his development, you know.
- 2:22Speaker 3: So so definitely send us some questions.
- 2:23Speaker 4: If you want to hear some Patriots football talk at
- 2:26Speaker 4: web radio at Patriots dot com, give us a call
- 2:28Speaker 4: eight five five Pats five hundred. But otherwise we're gonna
- 2:32Speaker 4: grind through another summer show here, guys, and we're gonna
- 2:34Speaker 4: find some fun and we'll find our way we always do.
- 2:37Speaker 7: Maybe the listeners will will jump in, they'll give us
- 2:39Speaker 7: a couple of things that are on their minds right now.
- 2:41Speaker 7: I mean, it's my week to do the mail bag.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Okay, there you go coming.
- 2:45Speaker 7: There was some slim pickings so far, so this is
- 2:49Speaker 7: a good time to get your questions in at how.
- 2:51Speaker 3: Do you do that?
- 2:52Speaker 4: Ask PFW, Yeah, atriot, or if you go to the
- 2:57Speaker 4: one I wrote this week, then you can find admitted
- 3:00Speaker 4: at the bottom.
- 3:01Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 3:02Speaker 2: As well, trying to plug his articles.
- 3:06Speaker 7: We need we need to questions to click on All
- 3:09Speaker 7: All Things with an Evan Lazarre Byeline.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Well, I do, I do.
- 3:13Speaker 4: I did come up with one just you know, kind
- 3:15Speaker 4: of Patriots topic to maybe just kick around to get
- 3:18Speaker 4: things going here.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Just one player?
- 3:21Speaker 4: Is there one player you think that that could really
- 3:24Speaker 4: just maybe make a jump this year, that could really
- 3:27Speaker 4: make an impact on this team? Is just you know,
- 3:28Speaker 4: is there somebody off the beaten path you know that
- 3:31Speaker 4: you feel like And I'll just start with mine just
- 3:33Speaker 4: to give you guys a sense, like, you know, key
- 3:34Speaker 4: On White, I think, is you know a guy that's
- 3:35Speaker 4: going to have an opportunity. I think that there's a
- 3:37Speaker 4: need on defense for you know, another versatile guy. We've
- 3:40Speaker 4: talked about ke On White. We don't know exactly, you know,
- 3:42Speaker 4: how he fits exactly what his ideal kind of role is,
- 3:46Speaker 4: but I think he's one guy if you could get
- 3:48Speaker 4: some complimentary play on him, you know, especially on third
- 3:50Speaker 4: down when you know maybe teams are focused on bar
- 3:52Speaker 4: Moore and Jude On.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Uh, He's one guy for me.
- 3:55Speaker 4: I know there's probably a bunch on offense, but you know,
- 3:57Speaker 4: is is there one particular guy that you guys they
- 4:00Speaker 4: comes to mind that that maybe could make an unexpected
- 4:03Speaker 4: impact on this team, that they could maybe raise their
- 4:05Speaker 4: ceiling a little bit and somebody off the beaten path
- 4:08Speaker 4: that we haven't really.
- 4:08Speaker 7: Talked about a lot, something we think is going to or.
- 4:11Speaker 3: That could I mean could.
- 4:13Speaker 4: I don't know for sure if Keon White's really even
- 4:15Speaker 4: going to yeah, but I think that he has, you know,
- 4:17Speaker 4: he has some of the skills that if you know,
- 4:20Speaker 4: like if you don't were to go down or something.
- 4:21Speaker 4: I just I feel like they're a little bit light
- 4:23Speaker 4: with that guy, and if he could play a little
- 4:25Speaker 4: bit in the defensive.
- 4:27Speaker 7: To jump Candaidate, Yeah, I mean we mayo talked a
- 4:30Speaker 7: lot about him in the spring, so I think that
- 4:32Speaker 7: they probably has some designs on that. I think a
- 4:35Speaker 7: guy that I think could impact the team in a
- 4:37Speaker 7: positive way if you could make a jump yeah, not
- 4:40Speaker 7: necessarily saying I think it's going to happen is Taekwan Thornton.
- 4:44Speaker 7: I think they need somebody in that group to sort
- 4:47Speaker 7: of be a lot better than he's been. You know,
- 4:51Speaker 7: I think it's hard to just rely on a couple
- 4:53Speaker 7: of rookie draft picks to come in and all of
- 4:56Speaker 7: a sudden transform your wide receiver room. Into a fulnerable entity.
- 5:01Speaker 7: I think if Thornton could somehow, you know, put it
- 5:05Speaker 7: all together. Do I think it's going to happen. No,
- 5:07Speaker 7: I see everybody sort of shaking their heads at me already.
- 5:09Speaker 7: I'm not disagreeing with any of you, but I just
- 5:12Speaker 7: can't take the cheese again. And I'm not taking the cheese.
- 5:17Speaker 7: He'll need to show me on the field for an
- 5:19Speaker 7: extended period of time, not like catch a pass in
- 5:22Speaker 7: a preseason game, which will I'm sure get everybody all excited.
- 5:25Speaker 5: And then break his collarbone immediately.
- 5:27Speaker 7: I would need to see some extended production from him.
- 5:31Speaker 7: But if this is a hypothetical, if that were to happen,
- 5:35Speaker 7: I think that could impact a team in a very
- 5:37Speaker 7: positive way.
- 5:38Speaker 3: Bring some speed.
- 5:39Speaker 5: Just we're not doing Taekwon. I'm not convincing myself this again.
- 5:44Speaker 5: But the one thing that I can't get out of
- 5:46Speaker 5: my head with Taekwon is that Drake May is just
- 5:50Speaker 5: such a better cornerback to be throwing him the ball
- 5:52Speaker 5: than Mac Jones was when we were talking about deep
- 5:55Speaker 5: down the field and tes Walker and un See was
- 5:59Speaker 5: Drake May's number one guy. They're not totally dissimilar players
- 6:03Speaker 5: in terms of their skill sets. Tedz Walker is a
- 6:05Speaker 5: little bit bigger. Obviously, everyone's a little bit bigger. But
- 6:08Speaker 5: if there's gonna be a guy that's gonna unlock a
- 6:11Speaker 5: true four to two deep threat like Taekwon Thorton is,
- 6:16Speaker 5: then you have a quarterback that's got the arm cannon
- 6:19Speaker 5: to do it.
- 6:20Speaker 3: But but you're not doing Taekwon again.
- 6:22Speaker 5: I'm not I'm not the guy that I would say.
- 6:25Speaker 5: And this is maybe a little bit too in the
- 6:28Speaker 5: trenches literally is city so because I just feel like.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Yeah, if they trench is literally literally.
- 6:34Speaker 5: Yeah, if they If anything about this offensive line comes together,
- 6:39Speaker 5: it's probably gonna be the interior where you have so
- 6:42Speaker 5: David Andrews and maybe Mike on Win who slides back inside.
- 6:46Speaker 5: If you can give yourself a stable interior the offensive line,
- 6:50Speaker 5: at least, it's something that that group can hang their
- 6:52Speaker 5: hat on and they can say we can run behind
- 6:54Speaker 5: these guys.
- 6:55Speaker 3: You know.
- 6:55Speaker 5: The shelf for the quarterback, as they say, when they
- 6:58Speaker 5: step up in the pocket, is gonna be relatively clean,
- 7:00Speaker 5: and we might have to deal with tackle being a
- 7:03Speaker 5: big issue, but at least they have some semblance of
- 7:06Speaker 5: a depth of a pocket to step up into then
- 7:11Speaker 5: he's one of those guys that I feel like had
- 7:13Speaker 5: a pretty solid rookie season. Maybe he comes into year
- 7:17Speaker 5: two and is a really solid player for you, you know,
- 7:19Speaker 5: above average starting guard in the league. But that whole
- 7:24Speaker 5: line group continues, you know. Greg Bodard wrote about it,
- 7:27Speaker 5: I think it is yesterday or earlier this week, and
- 7:29Speaker 5: some of the things that he had reported on that
- 7:32Speaker 5: were just things that people around the league were talking about.
- 7:36Speaker 7: This group.
- 7:38Speaker 5: We've been talking about not to toot our own horns,
- 7:41Speaker 5: as this just doesn't make any sense. And one of
- 7:44Speaker 5: the big things that he harped on was their personnel
- 7:47Speaker 5: does not fit the scheme that they're supposedly trying to run.
- 7:51Speaker 5: You know, they want to be this outside zone team
- 7:53Speaker 5: and bootlegs and all that, and they have three hundred
- 7:56Speaker 5: and forty pound tackles. You know, it just doesn't make
- 7:59Speaker 5: any much sense. And so one of the people that
- 8:02Speaker 5: Greg had talked about for the article, and the league
- 8:04Speaker 5: executives that he had cited had said the same thing.
- 8:06Speaker 5: He was like, you're gonna run outside zone, is gonna
- 8:09Speaker 5: be your primary rushing scheme with Mike on Winnie at
- 8:12Speaker 5: tackle and city so and you know, Leyden Robinson or
- 8:16Speaker 5: whoever ends up being the other guard. It just I
- 8:19Speaker 5: wonder if they settle eventually. Is a long way as
- 8:22Speaker 5: saying that interior three, let's just get that as best
- 8:26Speaker 5: as we possibly can, because tackle is probably going to
- 8:29Speaker 5: be a deficiency no matter what we do with it.
- 8:31Speaker 4: Do you think Kayden Wallace would be a fit more
- 8:33Speaker 4: that in that scheme at right tackle?
- 8:36Speaker 3: Uh?
- 8:36Speaker 7: I think he could be, But I really just.
- 8:40Speaker 5: No matter who they play on the interior, it just
- 8:43Speaker 5: feels like an oddfit, like on when who even city?
- 8:46Speaker 5: So like those guys are guys that want to come
- 8:48Speaker 5: off the ball and get on a block and move
- 8:51Speaker 5: people off the line of scrimmage, Like I don't think
- 8:53Speaker 5: you want those guys moving laterally and trying to stretch
- 8:57Speaker 5: the field horizontally. And we saw it with the Matt
- 9:00Speaker 5: Patricia offense when you don't have the when it's so
- 9:04Speaker 5: slow going from left to right and there's no pace
- 9:08Speaker 5: to it, it just gets blown up and there's just
- 9:10Speaker 5: no place to go. And this is obviously going to
- 9:13Speaker 5: be coached better, I'm sure than the Matt Patricia offense
- 9:17Speaker 5: was coached.
- 9:18Speaker 7: But that doesn't mean that the.
- 9:19Speaker 5: Horses fall any better than they they did two years
- 9:22Speaker 5: ago when they tried to do this.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Yeah, what do you guys got? You guys?
- 9:26Speaker 2: So this is kind of an interesting player. I was
- 9:28Speaker 2: gonna say, Alex Austin, he was only with our defense
- 9:32Speaker 2: for you know, a few months. So now that he
- 9:35Speaker 2: has a full offseason under drawd Mayo, Pelgrino, et cetera,
- 9:38Speaker 2: I'm wondering how much he's going to have an impact
- 9:41Speaker 2: on this team, especially with no Miles Bryant. I think
- 9:43Speaker 2: he's a guy who could have a lot more playing time,
- 9:46Speaker 2: just as they try to find depth in the cornerback space,
- 9:49Speaker 2: and I just want to see what they're gonna do
- 9:50Speaker 2: with Jonathan Jones and in that group altogether, Like there's
- 9:54Speaker 2: a lot of guys that aren't there anymore, Like no
- 9:56Speaker 2: Jalen Mills, Like what's going to go on.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Jackson for whatever he was last year.
- 10:00Speaker 7: Yes, that's Austin's a good one.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Now, it's a good one.
- 10:03Speaker 7: They have a lack of depth at corner and they
- 10:05Speaker 7: could use him being a solid player.
- 10:08Speaker 4: Just like that's the kind of the mccordy role, right,
- 10:10Speaker 4: like the third guy coming in. J Jones slides inside,
- 10:13Speaker 4: you know, J Jones another guy who's up for contract too,
- 10:15Speaker 4: So I mean I think it's it'd be great if
- 10:18Speaker 4: one of those guys could kind of emerge in that,
- 10:19Speaker 4: you know, not to say that I think Alex Austin
- 10:21Speaker 4: could replace Jonathan Jones, but you're gonna, like you guys said, need.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Some depth for sure. Yeah, and we'll see how things
- 10:27Speaker 3: developing the slot too.
- 10:28Speaker 6: I have Marcus Jones just coming off the injury. As
- 10:32Speaker 6: we said that, that's a whole new secondary back there
- 10:34Speaker 6: almost are a new group together. So just seeing what
- 10:37Speaker 6: he can do coming off injury because the end of
- 10:39Speaker 6: his rookie year is pretty good. And then also like
- 10:41Speaker 6: we saw him playing slot receiver, we have the new
- 10:43Speaker 6: kickoff rules. Is he gonna be used as a weapon there?
- 10:46Speaker 6: So I just think that's a really interesting player.
- 10:47Speaker 4: Yeah, same thing, like I mean, just in the slot
- 10:50Speaker 4: and in that secondary, there are a couple of roles.
- 10:52Speaker 4: I mean I went with kind of the front without guy.
- 10:55Speaker 3: But you guys the good ones too.
- 10:56Speaker 4: I mean it's I don't know, you get into the
- 10:59Speaker 4: camp and you're trying to hope that you know, somebody
- 11:01Speaker 4: is kind of just emerging and getting that playing time,
- 11:04Speaker 4: and wow, you know this that's I think the biggest
- 11:07Speaker 4: thing that that you know, I'm hoping for as we
- 11:09Speaker 4: get into training camp is just that you start to
- 11:11Speaker 4: see some sparks from some guys and you start to see,
- 11:15Speaker 4: you know, the coaching staff being able to you know,
- 11:18Speaker 4: sow the field so to speak, and get things right
- 11:20Speaker 4: so that guys start to play faster and start to
- 11:22Speaker 4: you know, understand the scheme, and you know, you start
- 11:24Speaker 4: to just see guys rising up that depth chart. It's
- 11:27Speaker 4: I think that's one of the more fun parts. Like
- 11:29Speaker 4: even like a menu as an example, you know, young guy,
- 11:32Speaker 4: just this guy can play. You can tell like he's
- 11:34Speaker 4: out there. You know, he gets more and more reps.
- 11:37Speaker 4: Clearly the team has taking an interest in him, interest
- 11:40Speaker 4: in him. Hopefully they can find, you know, some more
- 11:42Speaker 4: of those guys.
- 11:43Speaker 7: I mean, I think they're gonna need some of those
- 11:45Speaker 7: guys to emerge because if it's just the same personnel,
- 11:49Speaker 7: you know, like they bring in a guy like Taki, Taki,
- 11:52Speaker 7: is he a lot better than Mac Wilson. Can he
- 11:55Speaker 7: be more of a part of you know, what their
- 11:57Speaker 7: core is on defense? I don't wan to start whatever.
- 12:00Speaker 7: We know they play a lot of guys right they're
- 12:01Speaker 7: gonna have guys in and out, Marty Marpoo, you know,
- 12:04Speaker 7: can Mapoo be a part of the rotation and not
- 12:07Speaker 7: just sort of out there and be an impact player
- 12:10Speaker 7: make some plays for them. I think those two guys,
- 12:13Speaker 7: you know, maybe have a little bit more athleticism then.
- 12:17Speaker 3: Then in the past.
- 12:17Speaker 7: Not that Mac Wilson was a bad athlete, but I
- 12:20Speaker 7: think Taki Taki might be more of an all around
- 12:22Speaker 7: linebacker than Wilson was. They might have an upgrade there.
- 12:25Speaker 4: It just reminds you of last year's draft, and you'd
- 12:28Speaker 4: love to just have some offensive players that you're hoping
- 12:30Speaker 4: making that second year jumping. It's like, as much as
- 12:32Speaker 4: I would love to see ke On White make a
- 12:34Speaker 4: jump and Marty Mapho make a jump, you still have
- 12:36Speaker 4: to just wonder, like how much of an impact could
- 12:38Speaker 4: either of those guys really have. Whereas if we had
- 12:41Speaker 4: a second round wide receiver.
- 12:42Speaker 7: Right because I think I need someone that's going to
- 12:45Speaker 7: be able to lift the offense. I just think there's
- 12:47Speaker 7: a lot of pressure on those two rookies. I think
- 12:49Speaker 7: people are penciling them in. You know, Polk and Baker,
- 12:52Speaker 7: They're gonna put this wide receiver group on a different level,
- 12:56Speaker 7: and I just think that's asking an awful lot.
- 12:59Speaker 5: It is, but to be fair that that position has
- 13:02Speaker 5: become a position where production right away is really becoming
- 13:06Speaker 5: the norm, Like if you can play in the league. Yeah,
- 13:08Speaker 5: like those guys production produced right out of the gate. Now,
- 13:11Speaker 5: I think the receiver you're looking for, though, is pop Like,
- 13:14Speaker 5: you know, can he stay healthy for seventeen games? Can
- 13:17Speaker 5: he take on a high volume roll at one hundred
- 13:19Speaker 5: and eighty pounds. I don't know the answer to that question,
- 13:22Speaker 5: but we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that he
- 13:24Speaker 5: had a pretty good rookie year. And I'm not gonna
- 13:27Speaker 5: get crazy about it, but in terms of Patriots history,
- 13:30Speaker 5: it was the best rookie season for a receiver in
- 13:32Speaker 5: thirty years, going back to Terry Glenn. So it's promising.
- 13:37Speaker 5: But I don't know. If you know, fifty catches for
- 13:40Speaker 5: five hundred and sixty yards. Might that might be who
- 13:42Speaker 5: he is just because of the type of skill set
- 13:45Speaker 5: and the body type that he has. I don't know
- 13:46Speaker 5: if he can double that because he might not. He
- 13:51Speaker 5: probably get hurt, right, you know, he wouldn't be durable
- 13:53Speaker 5: enough to double that.
- 13:54Speaker 7: So we'll see.
- 13:54Speaker 5: But you know, at least they do have that with
- 13:57Speaker 5: that offensive player that you're looking for. I would say
- 13:59Speaker 5: it's got to be him.
- 14:00Speaker 4: That's why I'd always talk about him like Ammondola, like
- 14:03Speaker 4: it wasn't he didn't have to be the Edelman, he
- 14:04Speaker 4: didn't have to be the every down kind of got
- 14:06Speaker 4: like he just needed to be that complimentary piece that
- 14:09Speaker 4: could come in and you know, on third and long,
- 14:11Speaker 4: go four wide and you know he can get open
- 14:14Speaker 4: out of the slot. But yeah, I agree, it's a
- 14:17Speaker 4: big season for him, and you know it, just who
- 14:19Speaker 4: does Drake develop chemistry with?
- 14:21Speaker 6: You know?
- 14:21Speaker 3: I think that's another thing curious to see.
- 14:24Speaker 4: Doing so much work with Polk and Baker on the
- 14:26Speaker 4: side after practices, does that start to pay off? I mean,
- 14:30Speaker 4: we saw a little bit of that connection with Polk
- 14:32Speaker 4: growing towards the end of Mini camp when they you know,
- 14:34Speaker 4: finished practice with that that touchdown Polk made had a
- 14:37Speaker 4: real good day, probably his best day that we saw
- 14:39Speaker 4: out of him during OTAs. But how do you guys
- 14:42Speaker 4: see Kendrick Bourn though fitting into this. I mean seems
- 14:45Speaker 4: like he wants to be healthy, like he's trending towards
- 14:47Speaker 4: that we don't know for sure, if it'll be ready
- 14:50Speaker 4: to go in camp, if he might start on pup,
- 14:53Speaker 4: but it's still what twelve wide receivers and you know,
- 14:56Speaker 4: it's just we've talked about it a bunch of me,
- 14:58Speaker 4: Thornton and Juju and how do you parse it all out?
- 15:00Speaker 4: But they made an effort to reset Kendrick Borne for
- 15:03Speaker 4: three years, so they want you know, they have an
- 15:06Speaker 4: idea for him, you know, like they have a plan
- 15:08Speaker 4: for him. But do you think it's a bring him
- 15:10Speaker 4: along slow plan? Do you think it's we got to
- 15:12Speaker 4: get him out there asap. I mean, it's you know,
- 15:15Speaker 4: what do you expect from Kendrick Borne this year in
- 15:17Speaker 4: this offense? Is he is he supposed to be the
- 15:18Speaker 4: leader of this group?
- 15:20Speaker 5: Yes, I think he's supposed to be the leader for sure.
- 15:24Speaker 5: You know a lot of those guys have already talked
- 15:26Speaker 5: about the veteran that he is and kind of setting
- 15:29Speaker 5: that example. He's talked about wanting to be a captain
- 15:32Speaker 5: this year on the offensive side of the ball. So
- 15:34Speaker 5: when it comes to the leader, definitely, and just when
- 15:36Speaker 5: it comes to play on the field, he's their best
- 15:39Speaker 5: receiver right now. They don't until Polk and Baker prove
- 15:42Speaker 5: themselves he's their best receiver. I was looking at ESPN
- 15:47Speaker 5: started putting out this like fancy wide receiver analytics type stuff,
- 15:52Speaker 5: and he was fifteenth out of like one hundred and
- 15:54Speaker 5: fifty guys last year in that metric.
- 15:57Speaker 7: You know what was the metric.
- 16:00Speaker 5: It's like they use tracking data and stuff like that,
- 16:02Speaker 5: degrade like separation and catch point, you know, contested catches,
- 16:07Speaker 5: things like that. I mean, number one in this data.
- 16:09Speaker 5: I was it's all guys that you would expect to
- 16:11Speaker 5: be like in the top ten. You know it's not.
- 16:13Speaker 7: But is it like a percentage kind of thing because
- 16:15Speaker 7: he only played how many games?
- 16:17Speaker 3: Well, yeah, there's a minimum.
- 16:19Speaker 7: I think it's like thirty receptions on the season.
- 16:21Speaker 9: It was the man I put it.
- 16:23Speaker 7: I'm with Evan. I think he's clearly the number one receiver.
- 16:25Speaker 7: I think it's a matter of when he's available. Yeah right,
- 16:29Speaker 7: I mean I think he could be ready at the
- 16:30Speaker 7: start of the season. I think he could be pup.
- 16:33Speaker 7: I like, I just I don't really know where he stands.
- 16:37Speaker 7: And I wish that I had asked to Odd that
- 16:39Speaker 7: when I got a chance to talk to him a
- 16:41Speaker 7: couple of weeks ago, and I didn't get into some
- 16:44Speaker 7: of those specifics with some of the injured players, But
- 16:47Speaker 7: I think Evan's right about the most relent until proven
- 16:51Speaker 7: otherwise he's the number one guy.
- 16:53Speaker 2: I want to go back to your question on chemistry.
- 16:55Speaker 2: How hard do you think it's going to be to
- 16:57Speaker 2: see the chemistry that people have with each other, like
- 17:00Speaker 2: Drake May and the receivers and tight ends when they're
- 17:02Speaker 2: all learning the offense and learning the coaches, Like how
- 17:05Speaker 2: much patience are we going to have to have?
- 17:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I think that's the heart of the
- 17:08Speaker 4: question is you know when do those when do those
- 17:10Speaker 4: moments start to emerge, Like especially in team periods when
- 17:13Speaker 4: it gets hectic and they're you know, we're in the
- 17:14Speaker 4: red zone, things are tight. You know, does does Drake
- 17:17Speaker 4: May have a certain guy that he keeps kind of
- 17:20Speaker 4: looking for or you know, do you see a couple
- 17:22Speaker 4: of plays where it breaks.
- 17:24Speaker 3: Down and that's his guy? You know?
- 17:26Speaker 4: Like, I mean, I don't know, Paul, You've seen a
- 17:27Speaker 4: lot of camps and you've seen a lot of special relationships.
- 17:31Speaker 4: I mean, and Brady had a few different guys, even
- 17:32Speaker 4: Bledsoe had some guys.
- 17:33Speaker 3: But yeah, you see that in.
- 17:35Speaker 7: Camp when in camp sometimes, like I used to joke about,
- 17:38Speaker 7: you know, when Brady had like say back to back
- 17:41Speaker 7: in completions, and you know in eleventh period he would
- 17:45Speaker 7: throw a shallow cross to Edelman because the next pass
- 17:47Speaker 7: was going to be complete no matter what ya And
- 17:50Speaker 7: that was the one that you knew, there's no way
- 17:52Speaker 7: they're stopping this now, they might have it well covered,
- 17:55Speaker 7: and he catches it and gets you know, touched down
- 17:57Speaker 7: right away. And in training camp, but that was where
- 18:00Speaker 7: he was going to go, you know, Bledsoe was always
- 18:03Speaker 7: Ben Coates. That was where he was going to go.
- 18:05Speaker 7: You know, we'll have to figure out who that guy
- 18:07Speaker 7: will be for for Drake May and I think Tomara
- 18:11Speaker 7: is right. You know, there's a lot of young guys
- 18:14Speaker 7: that are all in the same kind of boat trying
- 18:17Speaker 7: to learn the offense with him and someone will. I mean,
- 18:20Speaker 7: it looks like Polk, you know, based on the amount
- 18:22Speaker 7: of time that those two guys spend together.
- 18:24Speaker 3: But you know, do we want that though, I mean,
- 18:26Speaker 3: do we want.
- 18:26Speaker 7: Think it would be great? I mean, but you you
- 18:28Speaker 7: kept saying at the end of mini camp. I think
- 18:30Speaker 7: you made a good point, like what else could you
- 18:32Speaker 7: ask for? Like your number one pick throwing to your
- 18:34Speaker 7: number two pick and you know mini camp ends and.
- 18:37Speaker 4: Hey, yeah great, Well, I mean, I mean, but the
- 18:41Speaker 4: question the Super Bowl, the bigger question though, is is
- 18:44Speaker 4: do you want it to seem like he has a
- 18:47Speaker 4: special connection. I don't want to say special because that
- 18:49Speaker 4: waits the question. But do you want to see him
- 18:52Speaker 4: being overly reliant on one guy? Do you want to
- 18:54Speaker 4: see him locking in on one guy?
- 18:55Speaker 9: Do you?
- 18:55Speaker 3: Or would you rather one guy that he has.
- 18:58Speaker 7: Faith?
- 18:59Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 19:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I like that, And I feel like Mac had
- 19:02Speaker 2: that for a while in Kobe, like that was his binkie,
- 19:04Speaker 2: Like that was his guy. If you knew the play
- 19:06Speaker 2: broke down, he was going to him.
- 19:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:08Speaker 2: And then obviously Toby has taken away.
- 19:11Speaker 5: What a ceiling to the mac Jones.
- 19:14Speaker 7: Yeah, it wasn't exactly going to be Montana to right.
- 19:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:18Speaker 6: Yeah, but mac overdid it a couple of times too,
- 19:20Speaker 6: because then Bourne came in and then he would just
- 19:22Speaker 6: start forcing it and then you get the mac Jones
- 19:24Speaker 6: floater pass that was getting picked off.
- 19:26Speaker 3: Yeah, he did have some of that with Bourn last year.
- 19:28Speaker 4: Felt like you know, I mean, Borne was pretty productive
- 19:30Speaker 4: before he got hurt.
- 19:31Speaker 5: And if you if you extrapolate Kendrick Bourne season last
- 19:35Speaker 5: year and he assume he stays healthy and he stays
- 19:36Speaker 5: on the same pace.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Really, he's gonna go over a thousand yards. Yeah, it's
- 19:39Speaker 3: really good numbers. He was on p.
- 19:41Speaker 6: Four.
- 19:41Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 19:42Speaker 4: They But again it's like, and this is the weird
- 19:44Speaker 4: part of talking about like Ramandre, You're you're using his
- 19:48Speaker 4: comps their performances in offenses that were like completely dysfunctional,
- 19:52Speaker 4: like especially two years ago, and you know last year.
- 19:54Speaker 4: Maybe I don't even know how to like really stack
- 19:57Speaker 4: up twenty two and twenty three, like which year was
- 19:59Speaker 4: more to functional, Like it seemed like nobody really knew
- 20:02Speaker 4: what they were doing in twenty twenty two, but the
- 20:03Speaker 4: twenty twenty three team was somehow worse. I don't really
- 20:06Speaker 4: know how to parse that all out. But it's that's
- 20:08Speaker 4: like the great unknown. It's like Vermandre he has this
- 20:10Speaker 4: best season against Matt Patricia, who was you know, picking
- 20:13Speaker 4: place from Madden or whatever, you know, Like like it's
- 20:16Speaker 4: it's so hard to extrapolate how any of this is
- 20:18Speaker 4: going to translate into Alex van Pelt into this offense.
- 20:21Speaker 4: Same thing with the offensive line, like and that I
- 20:23Speaker 4: think is where the biggest like leap of faith we're
- 20:25Speaker 4: kind of all taking of just like we don't really know, Like,
- 20:28Speaker 4: like these guys were good in a non system, what
- 20:30Speaker 4: are they gonna look like in a real system.
- 20:32Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 20:33Speaker 5: I was on with the with John Rook yesterday on
- 20:35Speaker 5: Playbook and he started off the show saying that he's
- 20:39Speaker 5: a little bit surprised that Vegas has the win total
- 20:42Speaker 5: at like four or four and a half right now.
- 20:44Speaker 5: And I just said, right now, the coaching staff is
- 20:48Speaker 5: completely unproven. We have no idea if Gerond Mayo is
- 20:52Speaker 5: gonna be a good head coach. We don't really know
- 20:55Speaker 5: if Alex Van Pelt's gonna be a good play caller
- 20:57Speaker 5: on offense, And we don't really know if DeMarcus coming
- 20:59Speaker 5: to is gonna be a good play caller on defense.
- 21:02Speaker 5: So Vegas and all these people from the outside looking
- 21:05Speaker 5: in it aren't as in it as we are are
- 21:07Speaker 5: probably looking at it and saying, this is a complete
- 21:10Speaker 5: and utter unknown of a team right now. And so
- 21:12Speaker 5: how can we sit here and say they're gonna win
- 21:14Speaker 5: eight games? Like we just we have no clue. And
- 21:17Speaker 5: they seem to be giving a ton of respect to
- 21:18Speaker 5: Bill and to you know, well, he's not in the
- 21:21Speaker 5: building anymore, so that you know they're they're coaching is
- 21:24Speaker 5: a complete unknown. But I do think for the younger
- 21:27Speaker 5: guys or the new guys, them learning Alex van Pelt's
- 21:31Speaker 5: offense is that's the only offense that they have to learn.
- 21:34Speaker 5: You know, for a guy like David Andrews who was
- 21:36Speaker 5: in the old system for ten years and now he
- 21:38Speaker 5: has to learn an entire new offense, and there's gonna
- 21:40Speaker 5: be a lot more on his plate in this offense
- 21:42Speaker 5: and there wasn't the old one. That one is a
- 21:45Speaker 5: little bit more. I wouldn't use work concerning, but like
- 21:48Speaker 5: something that's a little bit more to tackle, whereas like
- 21:50Speaker 5: Drake May and Jalen Polk, like this is the offense
- 21:52Speaker 5: that they're learning, and this is the only offense in
- 21:54Speaker 5: the NFL that they've learned so far. So I'm not
- 21:56Speaker 5: really as concerned about those guys. They're they're gonna be
- 21:58Speaker 5: on the same rookie t day three as any rookie
- 22:01Speaker 5: would be. But when it comes down to it's gonna
- 22:03Speaker 5: be about an Alex van Pelt calling offense can ego
- 22:07Speaker 5: toe to toe with some of the defensive coordinators. He's
- 22:10Speaker 5: going to face an out cat, you know Fox though
- 22:13Speaker 5: in a in a NFL game, Well, we'll have.
- 22:16Speaker 3: To find out.
- 22:16Speaker 4: That kind of relates to I think Bill and like
- 22:18Speaker 4: just Bill being here the last few years, even though
- 22:20Speaker 4: you know it's kind of diminishing returns, like you always
- 22:23Speaker 4: had that in your back of your mind, that that
- 22:24Speaker 4: he made the win total, like we felt like the basement,
- 22:27Speaker 4: like six wins, right, I think I feel like that's
- 22:29Speaker 4: where I was that.
- 22:29Speaker 7: Going to the last season, and finally that finally ended
- 22:32Speaker 7: last year, and I think that's why the Vegas over
- 22:36Speaker 7: under I think only dropped by two games, right, I
- 22:39Speaker 7: think weren't they six and a half last year or seven?
- 22:41Speaker 7: Maybe they were higher than that.
- 22:43Speaker 3: I don't I don't think it was around six.
- 22:44Speaker 7: But I'm I sort of continued to be surprised. And
- 22:47Speaker 7: I saw one one of our local beat writers, one
- 22:51Speaker 7: of our colleagues, had a tweet this week saying that
- 22:57Speaker 7: he felt they could be a strong tender for the playoffs.
- 23:01Speaker 7: And there's a couple of qualifiers that he had in
- 23:03Speaker 7: his tweet. I'm as stoutered when I read those. I
- 23:07Speaker 7: have to be honest with you, and I'm not telling
- 23:09Speaker 7: you that it can't happen because we've seen in this
- 23:11Speaker 7: league you can go from worse to first, like it
- 23:13Speaker 7: happens quickly. The NFL, there's going to be you know,
- 23:17Speaker 7: out of the fourteen playoff teams are probably gonna have
- 23:19Speaker 7: six or seven new ones. Happens every year, But that
- 23:23Speaker 7: has to happen before I sort of pick it to happen,
- 23:26Speaker 7: Like I just look at the talent last year, they
- 23:31Speaker 7: won four games, Like, best case scenario, you double your
- 23:37Speaker 7: win total and win eight, you're not a playoff team.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:41Speaker 7: I don't understand why people continue to treat this like
- 23:43Speaker 7: it's twenty eighteen, where you know, in twenty eighteen, we're
- 23:47Speaker 7: looking at it like this doesn't look great, This isn't
- 23:49Speaker 7: as good as it has been. Oh, but don't worry
- 23:51Speaker 7: about it. They'll figure out. Yeah, they'll find a way.
- 23:53Speaker 7: That's how we're treating it now.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Yeahah, I feel like the only way I could see
- 23:57Speaker 2: someone having that faith in them being in the plays
- 24:00Speaker 2: next next season. This season, what are you going to
- 24:02Speaker 2: call it is if you look at some of the
- 24:04Speaker 2: games from this past season, if they would have just
- 24:06Speaker 2: had a pulse against a team like the Colts, that
- 24:08Speaker 2: could have been one more win, just like a pulse.
- 24:10Speaker 2: They had no pulses there were at all. There were
- 24:12Speaker 2: a few that I was just like, God, if they
- 24:14Speaker 2: were just yeah, if they were just competent and like breathing,
- 24:18Speaker 2: they could have scored a touchdown or a field goal,
- 24:21Speaker 2: just one. And so I think that's maybe why they're
- 24:23Speaker 2: looking at it like, Okay, there were a lot of
- 24:25Speaker 2: close games.
- 24:25Speaker 3: It offense.
- 24:26Speaker 6: I think that's a very flay it and you're hoping
- 24:28Speaker 6: the defense is good and then that the offense.
- 24:31Speaker 7: Or you're assuming the other team couldn't have scored more
- 24:33Speaker 7: if they needed to. But you know, you get in
- 24:35Speaker 7: these games that sort of declare yep, and you're just like,
- 24:39Speaker 7: let's make sure we don't turn the ball over. Let's
- 24:41Speaker 7: you know, we could go for this fourth down, but
- 24:44Speaker 7: you know what, we're gonna punt and make them go
- 24:45Speaker 7: ninety yards because they can't. You know, like, if you
- 24:49Speaker 7: have to score, sometimes you score more. And your point
- 24:52Speaker 7: about the defense is something Evan and I have talked
- 24:54Speaker 7: about a lot, Like I personally think the best element
- 24:57Speaker 7: of the defense was Belichick, and you know sort of
- 25:01Speaker 7: leans more in the personnel either way, whoever's right, wrong, whatever,
- 25:04Speaker 7: that's an argument for a different day. You've lost a
- 25:07Speaker 7: big part of your defense, a big part of it,
- 25:10Speaker 7: and people just think that Judaan and Gonzalez coming back
- 25:13Speaker 7: will offset that. I think the defense is fine. I
- 25:17Speaker 7: don't think I'll be looking at a lot of games
- 25:18Speaker 7: this year and say, if they only had a defense,
- 25:20Speaker 7: they would have won that. You know, that thirty eight
- 25:22Speaker 7: thirty four game that they lost if they only had
- 25:24Speaker 7: a I don't think I'll be saying that this year.
- 25:27Speaker 2: And technically I would say two pieces and like Steve
- 25:29Speaker 2: Belichick not.
- 25:30Speaker 7: Being hearing, yes, I agree.
- 25:31Speaker 3: I mean he became an experienced play caller.
- 25:33Speaker 4: I think the thing that's hard for me with these
- 25:34Speaker 4: projections is like, well, you're projecting that the Jacoby preset.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Patriots are going to make the playoffs?
- 25:38Speaker 6: Are you?
- 25:39Speaker 4: Are you projecting that Jacoby Rissett's going to be terrible
- 25:42Speaker 4: and Drake May is going to come in and take
- 25:44Speaker 4: them to the Promised Land or Shroud, Like I mean, there's.
- 25:47Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, but I'm being serious, Like that has been
- 25:50Speaker 7: changed the equation. It's like, you know, crazier thing.
- 25:55Speaker 3: Fred Fred's been teasing me for a couple of weeks
- 25:57Speaker 3: about the red Sox.
- 25:58Speaker 7: Right, we'll take this as a up to I will
- 26:02Speaker 7: take this as an opportunity to branch out. Right, He's
- 26:04Speaker 7: been teasing me about the Red Sox and I just
- 26:06Speaker 7: keep saying, yeah, I mean, I know they're hot, but
- 26:08Speaker 7: I don't really buy into it. And whatever the trade
- 26:11Speaker 7: dead but the trade deadline's coming. Yeah, right, So let's
- 26:14Speaker 7: just say, for argument's sake, they have they add a
- 26:16Speaker 7: couple of players. I might change, Like if they if
- 26:20Speaker 7: they went out and got like a quality starting pitcher
- 26:23Speaker 7: and maybe a quality power bat to put in the
- 26:25Speaker 7: middle of the lineup and maybe give Devers a little protection. Well,
- 26:29Speaker 7: all of a sudden, you know, now I'm in the
- 26:31Speaker 7: playoff mix, and now my talent is much higher. Like
- 26:35Speaker 7: if Drake May steps off the bench and comes in
- 26:39Speaker 7: and your quarterback level is at a much higher level,
- 26:42Speaker 7: then your team is at a much higher level. Everything
- 26:44Speaker 7: can change. And we saw that last year. Houston was
- 26:48Speaker 7: not great. There were not people telling me, you know
- 26:51Speaker 7: what that Texans team needs. If they could just get
- 26:54Speaker 7: a really good quarterback, that's that's a team. That's a
- 26:56Speaker 7: quarter Nobody was talking like that about Houston. And Stroud
- 27:01Speaker 7: did that, and he made all those pieces around him better.
- 27:04Speaker 7: And Cassario was recognized that and said, let's get him
- 27:08Speaker 7: some more and you bring in digs. You sign, uh,
- 27:11Speaker 7: who's the running back? They said, mixing?
- 27:13Speaker 5: Right, they signed mixing, Like I lost track of all
- 27:15Speaker 5: these running backs.
- 27:16Speaker 3: Those are those are big on second those a big
- 27:19Speaker 3: addition to your offense.
- 27:20Speaker 7: If he thought they were a quarterback away and Stroud
- 27:22Speaker 7: just put them over the top, why are you making
- 27:24Speaker 7: those moves? Yeah, Nico Collins was not considered a J. Brown.
- 27:28Speaker 5: Now, I actually remember Nico Collins in the preseason game
- 27:32Speaker 5: here Gonzo had like a couple of good reps against
- 27:35Speaker 5: a couple good reps against Nico Collins, and people were like, yeah,
- 27:39Speaker 5: but it's Nico Collins.
- 27:40Speaker 7: Like it's that that.
- 27:41Speaker 5: Let's look way for week one when AJ Brown comes
- 27:43Speaker 5: in here. Then Nico Collins ends up having like fourteen
- 27:46Speaker 5: hundred yards.
- 27:48Speaker 6: Looked horrible that game.
- 27:49Speaker 7: Oh yeah, he looked terrible. He would have told me
- 27:51Speaker 7: that night that CJ. Stroud was going to have that
- 27:53Speaker 7: rookie year. I would have asked you to pee in
- 27:55Speaker 7: a cup one. But that's the that's the the other
- 27:59Speaker 7: side of it.
- 28:00Speaker 5: It is Tamyri's you know, makes The argument perfectly is
- 28:02Speaker 5: that if they have an offense that had set it
- 28:06Speaker 5: sixteen points a game, wherever the heck they were last year,
- 28:08Speaker 5: they're twenty two points a game.
- 28:10Speaker 7: Sixteen. Yeah, I don't think they averaged sixteen last year.
- 28:14Speaker 7: It might have been less than that.
- 28:15Speaker 5: Yes, if they average, you know, a significant amount of
- 28:17Speaker 5: more points as they did last year than all of
- 28:19Speaker 5: a sudden, you're you're looking at differently. But to Paul's point,
- 28:22Speaker 5: that's going to have to come from Drake, like Drake
- 28:24Speaker 5: May is going to have to just be the balls.
- 28:26Speaker 7: Like that's the only way that's happening. I don't rule
- 28:29Speaker 7: that out.
- 28:29Speaker 3: No, I mean they don't rule that.
- 28:30Speaker 5: I mean, you know, I don't rule that out. But yeah,
- 28:32Speaker 5: that's the only way that's happening.
- 28:33Speaker 7: But he's got to play for that.
- 28:35Speaker 3: Did Stroud start the season or did.
- 28:36Speaker 7: They not right away?
- 28:38Speaker 2: No?
- 28:38Speaker 7: No, he started week one. No, I don't think so.
- 28:40Speaker 7: I think he came in like week two or three.
- 28:42Speaker 7: I'm almost positive he started week.
- 28:44Speaker 5: I could be wrong about that, but I thought that
- 28:46Speaker 5: he's said he very I think he started week one.
- 28:49Speaker 3: I thought he.
- 28:50Speaker 5: Sat like one game, like literally like the first game
- 28:52Speaker 5: of the season.
- 28:53Speaker 4: Because that's what I think, just the hardest pass to seant.
- 28:55Speaker 4: What's the path to get Drake May into the game?
- 28:57Speaker 4: Like that's you know, is it is it him being
- 29:00Speaker 4: better than Jacoby Brissett or is it set stinking or
- 29:04Speaker 4: you know, just being below average?
- 29:06Speaker 2: Say and Rod started week one.
- 29:08Speaker 4: Matt the Voice of God, Matt Morrell. Okay, week one,
- 29:11Speaker 4: I don't remember was that in question though?
- 29:13Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't really remember if it was.
- 29:15Speaker 3: I don't know if they had I.
- 29:16Speaker 7: Mean, you started the preseason opener.
- 29:18Speaker 3: Yeah, so they were just ready to go with him
- 29:20Speaker 3: at the top.
- 29:21Speaker 5: Which I feel like for the most part, is how
- 29:23Speaker 5: that happens when you have like a guy that you
- 29:25Speaker 5: draft two overall?
- 29:26Speaker 3: Yeah, well it makes sense, yeah, but three overall. I
- 29:29Speaker 3: guess we're like, when.
- 29:30Speaker 6: Do you think it would be a good time to start? Man?
- 29:31Speaker 6: I know we've talked week one.
- 29:33Speaker 2: You want to start making.
- 29:35Speaker 3: You and I can't participate in this. We're not objective.
- 29:40Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 29:40Speaker 5: I think everything else is a waste of time. YEA,
- 29:42Speaker 5: honestly that the only way I'm not starting him week
- 29:45Speaker 5: one is if he is not ready, you know, if
- 29:48Speaker 5: like his mechanics and stuff, like that that we saw
- 29:50Speaker 5: in the spring.
- 29:51Speaker 3: If those we.
- 29:52Speaker 5: Get into live practices preseason games and he starts to
- 29:54Speaker 5: revert back to his old habits and things like that
- 29:56Speaker 5: with his feet, then sure. But if he if he
- 29:59Speaker 5: continues to look like he did in the spring and
- 30:01Speaker 5: it just keeps going.
- 30:02Speaker 6: Like this, what what if the o line shocking?
- 30:05Speaker 5: He's six six and twenty five pounds? Yeah, and can run?
- 30:09Speaker 4: I mean, could it be that? Could the offensive line
- 30:11Speaker 4: be that that? Like I just I just I'm just speaking.
- 30:14Speaker 3: I think it could.
- 30:15Speaker 7: But and I don't mean to sound callous. I don't
- 30:17Speaker 7: really care that much about it. I think I want
- 30:20Speaker 7: I think the experience that the quarterback needs to get
- 30:22Speaker 7: outweighs that stuff.
- 30:24Speaker 2: Yeah, Because I mean to be fair, I think when
- 30:27Speaker 2: was it when Burrow the year before he got towards
- 30:30Speaker 2: a cl he had a bad offensive and he's still there.
- 30:33Speaker 3: That was their big that was their big issue.
- 30:35Speaker 7: He had a bad offensive line the year they went
- 30:36Speaker 7: to the Super Bowl. The worst offensive line in football.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:40Speaker 4: Well, I don't know how they get there, But I
- 30:42Speaker 4: think it's gonna certainly put an interesting spin on camp
- 30:45Speaker 4: because I think we'll all be kind of I would
- 30:48Speaker 4: just say, after the spring, I feel like anybody watched
- 30:50Speaker 4: the practices is at least prime to say, it's not
- 30:52Speaker 4: like Jacoby Brissett went out there and just looks like
- 30:54Speaker 4: this polished veteran. He just knows what he's doing, Like
- 30:57Speaker 4: we get it. He's gonna have to start for like,
- 30:59Speaker 4: it didn't all that different. And even you know, when
- 31:02Speaker 4: we get to like kind of the lat and down
- 31:03Speaker 4: kind of stuff, May did the intriguing things. So if
- 31:07Speaker 4: the offensive line is that bad is Drake May, you know,
- 31:10Speaker 4: like on one hand, you're like, well, we don't want
- 31:11Speaker 4: to get him killed. But to Evan's point, he's sixty six,
- 31:13Speaker 4: he's athletic, like he can he can get away an extra.
- 31:18Speaker 3: Six seven, even maybe six to eight. We don't know
- 31:20Speaker 3: for sure.
- 31:20Speaker 2: I definitely think, I definitely think there is a world
- 31:24Speaker 2: where May could come in and have a great camp
- 31:26Speaker 2: and prove that he's ready to go.
- 31:28Speaker 3: Week one.
- 31:28Speaker 2: I mean, Mac Jones came into camp, got the job done,
- 31:32Speaker 2: and I would say like before coming into camp, they
- 31:35Speaker 2: probably didn't know that they were gonna cut Cam Newton.
- 31:37Speaker 2: They probably didn't know that, Okay, Max's gonna be ready
- 31:40Speaker 2: and we won't need Cam.
- 31:41Speaker 4: Yeah, here's a question, though, do you think I mean Bill,
- 31:45Speaker 4: I don't think I was that surprised to see Bill
- 31:47Speaker 4: go with Mac over camp. This is a felt like
- 31:49Speaker 4: Mac was, you know, kind of what he wanted, like
- 31:51Speaker 4: hopefully when at the beginning, Like but if Bill was
- 31:53Speaker 4: coaching these two guys and he had the choice between
- 31:56Speaker 4: Jacoby Brissett and Drake May right now, I probably I
- 32:01Speaker 4: think Jacoby Brissett would be more likely to play longer.
- 32:05Speaker 7: Yeah, and everything Tamara said is right. I don't think
- 32:09Speaker 7: that they went in that saying definitely it's going to
- 32:12Speaker 7: be Mac Jones, but he was considered more nfl ready
- 32:16Speaker 7: than Drake May is considered now. And I also think
- 32:20Speaker 7: that there's a lot of stuff that happened in that
- 32:24Speaker 7: camp with Ye with Cam that contributed to that. And
- 32:27Speaker 7: I will go to my grave believing that if he
- 32:30Speaker 7: didn't have COVID, I'm not necessarily sure all would have
- 32:33Speaker 7: unfolded the way it did. I think that whole time
- 32:36Speaker 7: that he didn't he didn't have COVID, he is violation
- 32:39Speaker 7: and he had to sit out the joint practice, which
- 32:42Speaker 7: happened to coincide with Mac Jones's best moment of training camp.
- 32:46Speaker 7: Was that first day against the Giants in my career.
- 32:51Speaker 7: I think that they looked at it that way and
- 32:53Speaker 7: just said, well, what are we waiting for? His kids ready? Mentally,
- 32:57Speaker 7: we're going to put him.
- 32:58Speaker 4: In And that's the quote, right, what are we waiting for?
- 33:00Speaker 4: And that's you know, And I think if we can
- 33:01Speaker 4: see it, I just I guess what I'm worried about
- 33:03Speaker 4: is we're going to all feel like, just let him
- 33:05Speaker 4: start and they're still going to go over set.
- 33:07Speaker 7: And it's hard because you don't know the mental side
- 33:09Speaker 7: of it. Like we watched Mac Jones and I mean
- 33:13Speaker 7: I couldn't see him being at a higher level to
- 33:17Speaker 7: you know, like mentally than Cam Newton was. I just
- 33:20Speaker 7: thought he was playing better than Cam Newton. Yeah, you know,
- 33:23Speaker 7: And I don't know the other stuff that goes into it,
- 33:27Speaker 7: like you'd need to talk to like Josh McDaniels and
- 33:29Speaker 7: stuff like why you know, what what did Mac do
- 33:33Speaker 7: running the offense that Cam wasn't doing? And I'm sure
- 33:36Speaker 7: there were a lot of things.
- 33:37Speaker 5: Yeah, I just think that the the other thing that
- 33:41Speaker 5: you heard a lot about during the Mac Jones Cam
- 33:44Speaker 5: Newton summer was the other fifty two guys in the
- 33:48Speaker 5: locker room and letting the best player play clearly by
- 33:54Speaker 5: everybody's sort of view on it, I think that was
- 33:57Speaker 5: big for Bill, that you're trying to win games, right, Like,
- 34:01Speaker 5: that's the goal here is to try to win games. Now,
- 34:04Speaker 5: maybe we can talk about this year and maybe that's
- 34:06Speaker 5: not the only goal or the exclusive goal for them
- 34:10Speaker 5: is to just win football games. But I think at
- 34:13Speaker 5: the time with Mac, it just felt like he's the
- 34:15Speaker 5: better player. Even though he's a rookie, he's still better
- 34:18Speaker 5: than Cam Newton, and he gives us the best chance
- 34:20Speaker 5: to win. So what kind of message am I sending
- 34:23Speaker 5: to our defense? You know, what kind of message am
- 34:25Speaker 5: I setting to the veterans on this team Where I'm
- 34:27Speaker 5: gonna say, you know, we're gonna weigh six weeks out
- 34:30Speaker 5: of the season, you know, waiting for Mac Jones to
- 34:33Speaker 5: us to feel one hundred and ten percent that Mac
- 34:35Speaker 5: Jones is ready ready because, let's face it, out of
- 34:37Speaker 5: the gate his rookie year, they had the training wheels
- 34:40Speaker 5: on Mac Jones. I mean they wouldn't even let him
- 34:42Speaker 5: throw the ball into the end zone for the first
- 34:44Speaker 5: like month of the season when they got down in
- 34:46Speaker 5: the red zone. So they felt like he was the
- 34:49Speaker 5: best player. It seemed like the locker room felt like
- 34:52Speaker 5: he was the best player, and I think they they
- 34:54Speaker 5: were a little bit worried about risking. You know, we
- 34:57Speaker 5: signed all these guys in free agency, you know, we
- 34:59Speaker 5: bring in all this unprecedented spending spree, and then we're
- 35:03Speaker 5: gonna turn it over to Cam Newton and all these
- 35:04Speaker 5: guys are gonna be like, you know, Mac gives us
- 35:06Speaker 5: the best chance to win? What are we doing. I
- 35:08Speaker 5: don't think it's exactly the same situation with with Drake May,
- 35:12Speaker 5: but I do think that the similar things could happen
- 35:16Speaker 5: in people's minds.
- 35:17Speaker 7: You know, if you're a David.
- 35:18Speaker 5: Andrews and this is you got one or two more
- 35:21Speaker 5: years at this I don't have time for you to
- 35:24Speaker 5: be you know, right, we're gonna we have this bridge
- 35:29Speaker 5: and then we're gonna sit him and you know, he
- 35:31Speaker 5: might not play this year. No, if he's the best guy,
- 35:33Speaker 5: then I want I want him to play, you know,
- 35:36Speaker 5: And I feel like that's a big part of it.
- 35:37Speaker 4: It's just hard to go back though, Like if you
- 35:39Speaker 4: went to Drake immediately, you can't. Can you really go
- 35:41Speaker 4: back to Jacoby Brissette at some point in the season
- 35:44Speaker 4: and move you have to hard movie, right, Well, I
- 35:48Speaker 4: mean I think you could.
- 35:49Speaker 7: I think if he's just he plays a month of
- 35:51Speaker 7: games and he's clearly overmatched and you're like, give him,
- 35:54Speaker 7: give him a game or two, give him a Yeah,
- 35:57Speaker 7: he's still the guy, but he's not ready.
- 36:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:00Speaker 2: I feel like that happened to somebody and I can't remember. Okay,
- 36:04Speaker 2: I was like, that happened to somebody. Like they started
- 36:06Speaker 2: and then they got yanked for a few games.
- 36:09Speaker 3: You get hurt.
- 36:10Speaker 7: He got yanked in a game for not playing well
- 36:13Speaker 7: in I think it was in Denver once he got yanked,
- 36:16Speaker 7: and he might have another time they messed around with
- 36:19Speaker 7: but I think he kept starting, but they took him out.
- 36:22Speaker 6: Of games because that Fitzpatrick.
- 36:24Speaker 7: So yeah, that's Patrick.
- 36:26Speaker 10: All right.
- 36:27Speaker 4: Well, we did a pretty good job there with about
- 36:29Speaker 4: forty minutes of Patriots talk.
- 36:30Speaker 3: Kind of great.
- 36:32Speaker 4: But hey, Patriots fans, if you want to see Toyota's
- 36:34Speaker 4: best offers, including those not seen on TV, go do
- 36:37Speaker 4: buy at toyota dot com. It's Toyota's official website for
- 36:40Speaker 4: deals from the official vehicle of the New England Patriots.
- 36:42Speaker 3: Toyota.
- 36:43Speaker 4: Let's Go places, and of course it's easy to drink,
- 36:46Speaker 4: it's easy to enjoy. But Light, the official beer sponsor
- 36:48Speaker 4: of the New England Patriots, be drinking some of those
- 36:50Speaker 4: this weekend, fourth of July. Nobody got any plans this weekend?
- 36:54Speaker 4: Next weekend, Well, it's kind of starting right. I'm getting
- 36:56Speaker 4: ahead of my soft next week. It's a week from today.
- 37:00Speaker 3: Day it's coming. It's coming now, a week from today.
- 37:02Speaker 3: No fireworks.
- 37:03Speaker 2: I counted this weekend, this weekend, that's next weekend.
- 37:07Speaker 7: Well, knowing you guys, no one will be in the office.
- 37:09Speaker 7: And because it's be then extended weekend Monday through Friday weekends.
- 37:14Speaker 4: Oh no, Monday, Tuesday next week and then I think
- 37:16Speaker 4: it's a couple of days off.
- 37:17Speaker 7: Oh you're coming in Monday and Tuesday.
- 37:18Speaker 3: We have radio hang out with everybody moving Tuesday for
- 37:22Speaker 3: the show.
- 37:22Speaker 5: That's the only day I'll be here Tuesday.
- 37:25Speaker 3: Now we got to have some fun. These these shows
- 37:27Speaker 3: are are great. You gotta talk about the nonsense.
- 37:31Speaker 7: I need to have some nonsense to talk about Tuesday.
- 37:33Speaker 2: I need the listeners to come with some good games on.
- 37:37Speaker 3: There are a lot of good emails.
- 37:38Speaker 7: We have a lot of good lots want to.
- 37:41Speaker 5: Get fired up by bad Fourth of July food takes what.
- 37:46Speaker 2: Such thing as a bad Fourth of July?
- 37:49Speaker 3: You know, barbecue chicken? Oh? Yes, but again, what do
- 37:53Speaker 3: you got? What do you got?
- 37:54Speaker 2: No?
- 37:55Speaker 4: I don't know. I just feel strongly if it's just
- 37:58Speaker 4: gonna all right, all right, we'll be left to assume
- 38:01Speaker 4: he doesn't. There's something about, yeah, we'll get the questions,
- 38:05Speaker 4: you know we will, all right? Well, Uh, Choe form
- 38:08Speaker 4: Lado's been holding on here for a minute, So hey, Joe,
- 38:10Speaker 4: what's going on?
- 38:13Speaker 11: Not much guys for a long time listener, first time caller,
- 38:17Speaker 11: But I just had a question for Evan. So, Evan,
- 38:20Speaker 11: you've been talking a lot about how like quarterbacks are
- 38:23Speaker 11: unpredictable when it comes to who's going to rise up
- 38:26Speaker 11: to be a first rounder that we've never heard of,
- 38:28Speaker 11: Like how Jade and Daniels kind of was.
- 38:32Speaker 10: Uh.
- 38:32Speaker 11: So, I'm going to be going to West Virginia this
- 38:34Speaker 11: year and our quarterback Garrett Green is supposed to be
- 38:37Speaker 11: like rather highly touted. I where do you think he's
- 38:41Speaker 11: going to be drafted? Because I looked at his stats
- 38:43Speaker 11: compared to Jad and Daniels' stats, and their yards and
- 38:47Speaker 11: like touchdowns were very similar. So I just want to
- 38:50Speaker 11: know what you thought and if you thought he had
- 38:51Speaker 11: first round potential. And as for the c J. Stroud
- 38:55Speaker 11: and Drake May comparisons, I think that we could easily
- 38:58Speaker 11: make the playoffs if he plays that level. And I
- 39:01Speaker 11: think we can see a similar situation with Kendrick Bourne
- 39:03Speaker 11: and a Nico Collins like breakout where you guys said
- 39:07Speaker 11: Kendrick Bourne was on face for fourteen hundred yards of
- 39:09Speaker 11: this year. Well, if he has somebody like Drake May
- 39:12Speaker 11: throwing him the ball and he's playing at the capacity
- 39:14Speaker 11: that a third overall take should or that he should
- 39:17Speaker 11: with that justin Herbert Josh Allen combination that everybody seems
- 39:21Speaker 11: to think he is, why couldn't that happen? You know?
- 39:24Speaker 3: Yeah, thanks, show appreciate the call.
- 39:27Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm not trying to be like snarky, but yes,
- 39:30Speaker 5: if he plays like a franchise quarterback, then they're going
- 39:32Speaker 5: to be They're going to be in good shape.
- 39:34Speaker 3: What about the what about the West Virginia?
- 39:36Speaker 5: Yeah, I could not tell you.
- 39:38Speaker 2: No.
- 39:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean we're way too early.
- 39:40Speaker 3: Question Bart is like coming in.
- 39:44Speaker 5: I mean there's like all you know, the guys that
- 39:46Speaker 5: everybody talks about with that class here, I'll pull it
- 39:49Speaker 5: up because I think the names at this point Barth
- 39:52Speaker 5: would know this, like they're.
- 39:54Speaker 3: Making them feel bad.
- 39:55Speaker 5: So you know, like obviously Shoudor is the one that
- 39:57Speaker 5: everybody's going to talk about. But like Carson Beck from
- 40:00Speaker 5: Georgia is like that prototypical you know, six foot five
- 40:02Speaker 5: pocket passer. Uh, the kid from West Virginia. I have
- 40:06Speaker 5: heard a little bit about him. But this right now,
- 40:08Speaker 5: that quarterback class next year is booty.
- 40:11Speaker 3: It is not good.
- 40:12Speaker 5: It is Nope, not the good kind of booty, but
- 40:14Speaker 5: that and uh it is. It is very bad. And
- 40:18Speaker 5: I am not going to be convinced in June, a
- 40:21Speaker 5: year before the draft that it's gonna be good because
- 40:23Speaker 5: I hear that a lot that everybody comes at me
- 40:25Speaker 5: and they're like, oh well just wait, like there'll be
- 40:28Speaker 5: the Jayden Daniels or the Baker Mayfield or whatever, and
- 40:30Speaker 5: then all of a sudden it be a great quarter No,
- 40:32Speaker 5: it's a bad quarterback class.
- 40:33Speaker 6: It's a bad quarterback or just bad class.
- 40:35Speaker 5: It's a bad quarterback class.
- 40:36Speaker 2: I'm doing someone might make it will be a good defense.
- 40:39Speaker 2: I mean this time last year you were probably saying
- 40:41Speaker 2: the same thing about Jade and Daniels.
- 40:45Speaker 5: Yes, but if it's one guy that makes the jump,
- 40:49Speaker 5: then that one guy is going to go one to
- 40:51Speaker 5: one and the rest of the quarterback class is still
- 40:54Speaker 5: gonna stink.
- 40:55Speaker 7: This class was considered strong because of Caleb Williams and
- 40:58Speaker 7: Drake May. They enter the season there right.
- 41:02Speaker 9: So.
- 41:04Speaker 5: Yeah, the West Virginia kid is not not registering on
- 41:07Speaker 5: the current mock draft.
- 41:11Speaker 3: Sites that we are.
- 41:12Speaker 5: But you know, I think the bigger the big four,
- 41:15Speaker 5: I would and I know there's some love for Drew
- 41:17Speaker 5: Tayler and cam Ward as well, but Beck short oar
- 41:21Speaker 5: Quinn e Weres from Texas and Jalen Milroe from Alabama.
- 41:27Speaker 5: Jalen Milroe is you know, some people will say that
- 41:29Speaker 5: will have like maybe a Jalen Hurts like type of
- 41:32Speaker 5: you know, he's going to be a much better passer
- 41:34Speaker 5: as the ages and gets experience. This quarterback classes is
- 41:39Speaker 5: not good.
- 41:39Speaker 7: Well, I mean I was, what is the fascination with
- 41:45Speaker 7: the quarterback class from our Patriots perspective? Anyway?
- 41:47Speaker 5: No, he will He's going to West Virginia, so he was.
- 41:50Speaker 7: He was just talking about that that individual kid. But
- 41:52Speaker 7: like the class itself, I'm talking about nothing.
- 41:55Speaker 5: Nothing.
- 41:55Speaker 3: I mean, there might be.
- 41:56Speaker 7: I guess you could make an argument that if they
- 41:59Speaker 7: fulfill their expectations and come up with like a top
- 42:03Speaker 7: three pick, then becomes more valuable with the more quarterbacks.
- 42:06Speaker 7: You can make that argument, But I think you can
- 42:10Speaker 7: trade anyway. If the deuce is gonna love this class.
- 42:13Speaker 3: I've already started looking at it.
- 42:15Speaker 5: It's all the best players in this class are all
- 42:17Speaker 5: up front on the defensive side of the ball.
- 42:19Speaker 7: It's all defensive edge rushers.
- 42:21Speaker 5: Big Daddy Dan really really good class and that regard
- 42:26Speaker 5: and uh, you know.
- 42:28Speaker 7: We'll take the run stuff for the top.
- 42:29Speaker 5: We'll talk. We'll talk a lot about the top tackles
- 42:32Speaker 5: and receivers in the class coming up to Luther Burden. Uh,
- 42:35Speaker 5: you know, Kelvin Banks Junior, Will Campbell. Those are the tackles.
- 42:38Speaker 5: You know, those three guys will be talking about.
- 42:41Speaker 4: Tackle six, edge tackling, edge like legit, talking about like
- 42:45Speaker 4: a legit three down like rusher, like the edge guy.
- 42:48Speaker 4: You know, I take that, Oh, an edge guy.
- 42:50Speaker 6: We like the edge guys.
- 42:51Speaker 3: Edge guy.
- 42:52Speaker 7: That's an athlete, you got. I mean, I'm in on
- 42:54Speaker 7: the edge guy.
- 42:54Speaker 3: You got to replace Jude on you know, I mean,
- 42:56Speaker 3: regardless of.
- 42:57Speaker 7: What the drafted.
- 42:59Speaker 4: I'll take an edge like a rusher, like like, if
- 43:01Speaker 4: he's good enough, I want to just take any one
- 43:04Speaker 4: off season next year, you know, like von Miller.
- 43:08Speaker 7: Like von Miller comes out, take him in the top five.
- 43:11Speaker 5: I would also take von Miller.
- 43:13Speaker 7: But I'm saying, like a guy who's highly regarded.
- 43:17Speaker 2: Are there any future like Watts on this draft class?
- 43:21Speaker 6: Like j J Watt TJ.
- 43:22Speaker 5: So like TJ and JJ didn't actually go that particularly high,
- 43:27Speaker 5: and either of their drafts. JJ went high, JJ went
- 43:29Speaker 5: like eleven. Yeah, but that's not they're not talking about
- 43:31Speaker 5: top five.
- 43:33Speaker 7: Kind of a tweener is like an interior defensive. It's
- 43:36Speaker 7: a pretty high pick.
- 43:37Speaker 4: Yeah, was one that got ANDYJ was like he's AJ
- 43:41Speaker 4: went in the twenty's a bus. Yeah, TJ went.
- 43:45Speaker 6: Coming out the Cowboys took Taco Trot over him, right,
- 43:48Speaker 6: I think that.
- 43:49Speaker 3: Might be right?
- 43:49Speaker 5: What a mistake, Yeah, but I don't know. Yeah, we're
- 43:54Speaker 5: gonna Luther Burden's a fun player. There's also the kid
- 43:57Speaker 5: out in Arizona who I'm banking on his place receiver
- 43:59Speaker 5: as well. Uh, you know, kind of like a big
- 44:01Speaker 5: body like you know, Des Bryant, contested catch type of guy.
- 44:05Speaker 5: Luther Burden is like the it is like a jitter bug,
- 44:08Speaker 5: you know, Jalen waddleish type of receiver. He's he's a
- 44:11Speaker 5: smaller inside guy. But the tackles. We'll we'll definitely talk.
- 44:14Speaker 3: A lot about to jump back to the funds real quick,
- 44:17Speaker 3: Patty and I go on, what's up? Patty going on?
- 44:21Speaker 12: Guds? Hey, Hey, So I wanted to throw a name
- 44:25Speaker 12: out there that that could possibly make a second.
- 44:27Speaker 2: Year jump and and contribute pretty good.
- 44:30Speaker 11: And that would be I know, you guys might laugh
- 44:32Speaker 11: at me, but Kasehan Boody body, you know, I mean.
- 44:37Speaker 7: Not gonna laugh. Why would we laugh, Like you didn't
- 44:39Speaker 7: really see anything? And you know, maybe he could be
- 44:42Speaker 7: a guy next year?
- 44:43Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely yeah, And he did.
- 44:45Speaker 2: And Mini Camp he had a he had a lot
- 44:48Speaker 2: of great catch. I feel like on the last day Mini.
- 44:50Speaker 3: Can showed up. Yeah.
- 44:52Speaker 4: I think it's also a question of like what's going
- 44:53Speaker 4: to go on with him legally if that's all like
- 44:55Speaker 4: you know, suspensions and all that kind of stuff that
- 44:57Speaker 4: might come into it.
- 44:58Speaker 7: I think any receiver that any one picks, I could
- 45:00Speaker 7: make an argument for you know probably you know, somebody's
- 45:06Speaker 7: got to emerge in that group. You know, we talked
- 45:08Speaker 7: about Pop, we talked about Thornton. Now we're talking about Booty,
- 45:12Speaker 7: talked about Born. I think they need something to emerge
- 45:16Speaker 7: as the number one guy, because right now they think
- 45:18Speaker 7: they just have a bunch of guys, and I don't
- 45:21Speaker 7: think that that's necessarily conduced to success. I'm gonna I'm
- 45:25Speaker 7: gonna throw some cold water on Kish.
- 45:27Speaker 3: No booty, no foody, nobody for your booty.
- 45:29Speaker 5: Let's let's calm down.
- 45:31Speaker 3: Called them the good booty a second ago, though, Evan,
- 45:33Speaker 3: you're going back on that. I think he was talking
- 45:36Speaker 3: about booty in general. Yes, right, the big booty.
- 45:38Speaker 7: I don't want to like put words.
- 45:39Speaker 3: To him out little booty, big booty.
- 45:41Speaker 7: I just like, if you weren't being creepy, I don't
- 45:43Speaker 7: want to assign that to you.
- 45:44Speaker 5: I was not being creepy, but I Kashawan Boody just
- 45:49Speaker 5: I don't understand it. I get it. We all, it's
- 45:53Speaker 5: Jeff Thomas right, like, we all want to just be excepted,
- 45:56Speaker 5: we all Daniels, we all just want to be excited
- 45:59Speaker 5: about a receiver this team. I totally get that. But
- 46:02Speaker 5: we are still waiting for twenty twenty one. Sophomore year,
- 46:09Speaker 5: freshman year, Kashan Boody, Right like that, that's what we're
- 46:13Speaker 5: still saying, Well that freshman season, do you remember that
- 46:17Speaker 5: like game, and we're still going all the way back
- 46:20Speaker 5: to that and saying five years later, that guy is
- 46:24Speaker 5: gonna We're gonna unlock that guy. It's like he kind
- 46:27Speaker 5: of is what he is, folks.
- 46:28Speaker 7: And when I watched just just like the practices, like
- 46:32Speaker 7: I think there's obviously huge question marks for all of
- 46:34Speaker 7: these guys, but when you watch Thornton run and you
- 46:37Speaker 7: know he's just like running in a straight line, You're like, oh,
- 46:39Speaker 7: I see what they saw. He could run, he can fly. Yeah,
- 46:44Speaker 7: I don't see any of those kinds of qualities with Booty.
- 46:48Speaker 7: Like you watched to Mario Douglas, I see what they saw.
- 46:51Speaker 7: It was real quick, jitterbug type, you know, you know,
- 46:55Speaker 7: quick in and out of his breaks.
- 46:56Speaker 3: I see it.
- 46:57Speaker 7: I just Booty is just kind of out there. And
- 47:00Speaker 7: Tomato is right, he made a handful of catches. Like
- 47:02Speaker 7: he's not like he's invisible. He shows up every once
- 47:05Speaker 7: in a while. He did the same thing last year
- 47:06Speaker 7: in camp. Later in camp he started to show up
- 47:09Speaker 7: a little bit. But I don't see him like creating
- 47:11Speaker 7: a lot of separation, being dynamic down the field quick.
- 47:15Speaker 7: He doesn't have exceptional size where you're going to say, well,
- 47:18Speaker 7: he can be a contested catch guy. I think he
- 47:20Speaker 7: does everything okay, but I don't think he does anything
- 47:23Speaker 7: exceptionally well.
- 47:24Speaker 6: From the receivers on the roster, who do you think
- 47:26Speaker 6: gets cut well? I'm the ones right, good question.
- 47:29Speaker 4: Piggyback that thought them forward from Savannah, Georgia have one email.
- 47:33Speaker 4: I have a feeling one wide receiver is going to
- 47:35Speaker 4: resurrect his career. Of these four, which do you think?
- 47:38Speaker 7: I have a feeling this is going to be the
- 47:39Speaker 7: guy I'm going to say he's going to.
- 47:40Speaker 3: Get cut well, I don't think would you who would
- 47:45Speaker 3: you put your bet on?
- 47:45Speaker 5: I wouldn't say Booty is resurrecting it. He hasn't had
- 47:48Speaker 5: a career, so like we're not the other.
- 47:50Speaker 4: Diner's not the point. Yeah, just say which one of
- 47:54Speaker 4: those guys would you put money on to have.
- 47:56Speaker 3: A good year? To contribute this year?
- 47:58Speaker 2: Gregory, I feel like he's going to contribute more on
- 48:00Speaker 2: special teams than he does.
- 48:01Speaker 7: It's Juju, Rager, Booty and who Thoughton? If I had
- 48:06Speaker 7: to pick one of those four, I'd pick the Wharton.
- 48:08Speaker 7: But I don't think any of those four.
- 48:10Speaker 6: Think those four could be cut.
- 48:11Speaker 3: I don't think. I think I don't.
- 48:12Speaker 2: I think I think is going to make it. I
- 48:15Speaker 2: think Gregor's gonna make it because I think.
- 48:17Speaker 6: Will make it two because of specialty is. But it's
- 48:19Speaker 6: just I'm not so sure there there is.
- 48:22Speaker 2: A tough cutting. I've been saying this for months. Thornton
- 48:25Speaker 2: and Juju I can see being cut.
- 48:27Speaker 7: I can't see Yo. I could definitely see that. I
- 48:30Speaker 7: think I can't see picking a guy just as a
- 48:33Speaker 7: return guy when there's a chance that by week three
- 48:36Speaker 7: every kickoff is a touch back.
- 48:38Speaker 6: Yeah, you're right, Well.
- 48:39Speaker 5: It's not just as a return guy though, because they
- 48:41Speaker 5: they do need somebody that brings some speed on the
- 48:44Speaker 5: outside in some capacity, Like it doesn't necessarily need to
- 48:47Speaker 5: be a high volume roll in terms of targets, but
- 48:50Speaker 5: the way that they're going to want to run this offense,
- 48:52Speaker 5: especially like you have to have somebody that can at
- 48:55Speaker 5: least be a little bit of a deep threat within
- 48:57Speaker 5: this offense. And if they're rolling out Kendrick Bourne, Javon Baker,
- 49:02Speaker 5: Jalen Poll, Pop Douglas, Like who out of that group,
- 49:05Speaker 5: maybe Baker, but even him, like, you know, he's a
- 49:09Speaker 5: low four fives guy, Like he's not running by it.
- 49:11Speaker 7: I'd rather that than knowing that I'm not getting that
- 49:14Speaker 7: out of Rager. I think at this point he's like
- 49:16Speaker 7: five years into his career, he's not that. Yeah, he
- 49:19Speaker 7: was a disappointment as a first round pick.
- 49:21Speaker 3: It's like the same thing with Booty.
- 49:23Speaker 4: It's like, at what point do you realize a guy
- 49:24Speaker 4: was just had a flash in the pan kind of
- 49:26Speaker 4: season as opposed to it still being this untapped potential
- 49:29Speaker 4: that he's carried with him through, you know, five six
- 49:32Speaker 4: years of non production.
- 49:34Speaker 7: It's like I would even take it if I saw
- 49:36Speaker 7: some flash, like he's done nothing in three stocks now,
- 49:39Speaker 7: that season.
- 49:40Speaker 4: Was flashing the pan for him, right, And that's kind
- 49:41Speaker 4: of what season when he was in Callge.
- 49:45Speaker 7: I'm sorry, I thought we were talking about Rager. My bad,
- 49:48Speaker 7: so I apologize.
- 49:50Speaker 4: I don't know how you could confuse the two, Paul,
- 49:52Speaker 4: I mean, she's very different.
- 49:54Speaker 3: They're so different. I apologize it.
- 49:56Speaker 7: I get I get my jags confused.
- 49:58Speaker 2: Going back to that question, though, Deuce, I would love
- 50:02Speaker 2: if Juju did somehow resurrect himself because of all the
- 50:06Speaker 2: money that he's getting paid. Do I think he's going
- 50:08Speaker 2: to do that? No, even though allegedly he say he
- 50:12Speaker 2: says he's one hundred percent healthy and ready to go.
- 50:14Speaker 2: He said that last year too, So I'm like.
- 50:16Speaker 7: I just don't know why.
- 50:17Speaker 5: I don't waste your time even trying, like like getting
- 50:20Speaker 5: that look out of him, because like Jalen Polk is
- 50:22Speaker 5: going to run a lot of the same routes in
- 50:24Speaker 5: this offense and that a guy like Juju would. So
- 50:27Speaker 5: I would just much rather even if Juju has like
- 50:30Speaker 5: one more decent season in him, I'd just rather give
- 50:32Speaker 5: the reps.
- 50:33Speaker 7: And he's the He's the only one I would say,
- 50:35Speaker 7: like he had a career that was derailed by a
- 50:37Speaker 7: significant injury, like he was productive in Pittsburgh and Kanas City. Yeah,
- 50:41Speaker 7: you know, so I'm not putting him in the same
- 50:44Speaker 7: category as Rager or you know.
- 50:46Speaker 3: I think, yeah, yeah.
- 50:47Speaker 4: One of the problems I have with Juju two is
- 50:49Speaker 4: like I just like the young guys, they're hungry, you know,
- 50:51Speaker 4: And I just don't feel like Juju's hungry. Like I
- 50:53Speaker 4: think he has gotten paid, He's run a title, you know,
- 50:57Speaker 4: he's he got a surprising contract from a team at
- 51:00Speaker 4: the end of his career that will certainly, you know,
- 51:02Speaker 4: buffer him into retirement. But I, you know, to your point,
- 51:06Speaker 4: I just I'd rather go with guys like Baker and
- 51:08Speaker 4: Polko too. They're hungry, they they haven't done it yet.
- 51:11Speaker 4: They want to, you know, Polks, you know, saying.
- 51:14Speaker 7: No, I can definitely see like mid October, every saying
- 51:16Speaker 7: to me, how to go with Baker working for us?
- 51:20Speaker 7: Like I could totally see that, and I, you know, whatever,
- 51:22Speaker 7: But at least to find out you don't get them
- 51:24Speaker 7: all right, No, but you'd like.
- 51:25Speaker 4: To find out, you know, earlier than later, and not
- 51:28Speaker 4: have it dictated to you by an injury suffered, you know,
- 51:31Speaker 4: a soft tissue injury in training camp that then prevented
- 51:34Speaker 4: him from getting on the field. And you know, like,
- 51:36Speaker 4: at least if he's out there and you miss on him,
- 51:38Speaker 4: and you know you missed on him.
- 51:40Speaker 3: It is what I'm a.
- 51:40Speaker 7: Little fanboy on this one, whereas I'm going with the unknowns.
- 51:44Speaker 7: Like you know, everybody's like, well, they got they got
- 51:46Speaker 7: the draft picks. Oh, they got all that cap space.
- 51:48Speaker 7: Everybody gets excited about that stuff every year. I'm kind
- 51:52Speaker 7: of I'm kind of getting excited about Polk and Baker
- 51:54Speaker 7: a little bit this year, and I'd rather see them
- 51:56Speaker 7: play significant roles and then if we find out halfway
- 52:00Speaker 7: through the air like they're not either they're not ready
- 52:02Speaker 7: or not good enough unfortunately.
- 52:05Speaker 5: I mean ticket for what it's worth, because it was
- 52:07Speaker 5: spring practices with no pads and like we know all
- 52:10Speaker 5: the caveats. There's some positive juju coming out about Jalen Polk,
- 52:16Speaker 5: and I shouldn't have used that phrase, but you understand
- 52:18Speaker 5: what I'm saying, you know, Jalen Polk. There's some some people,
- 52:23Speaker 5: I mean other people have reported on this, you know
- 52:25Speaker 5: as well in town. You know Phil Perry I think
- 52:27Speaker 5: had talked about this a little bit on one of
- 52:29Speaker 5: their million shows over there that.
- 52:34Speaker 7: I love Phil. The feeling inside the building as they.
- 52:38Speaker 5: Would you know, the people on the outside would say,
- 52:40Speaker 5: is that they like what they've seen out of Polk
- 52:43Speaker 5: and with the type of work ethic and the attitude
- 52:45Speaker 5: that he's brought, and he's making strides, you know, towards
- 52:49Speaker 5: being a productive player. I think, you know, the.
- 52:51Speaker 7: Biggest thing with him is just going to be is
- 52:53Speaker 7: it going to be more.
- 52:55Speaker 5: Jacobe Meyer's style where there's not a whole lot of
- 52:57Speaker 5: explosiveness or big playability there, but it can still be
- 53:01Speaker 5: a really reliable chain mover, which is worth something, or
- 53:04Speaker 5: is does he have another gear that maybe somebody like
- 53:08Speaker 5: Jakobe doesn't necessarily have to to get some of those
- 53:11Speaker 5: chunk yards that he got at at Washington. He did
- 53:14Speaker 5: make some plays down the field. Now that was their offense,
- 53:17Speaker 5: their offense with four verts and you know why cross,
- 53:20Speaker 5: but like that that was he still was able to
- 53:23Speaker 5: make the plays, is the point, even though he wasn't
- 53:25Speaker 5: a burner. So we'll see what happens with him. But
- 53:27Speaker 5: I think there's some positive just trends going on with it.
- 53:32Speaker 3: Well, I mean he saw in that last practice.
- 53:33Speaker 4: I mean, I you know, it wasn't like he set
- 53:35Speaker 4: the world on fire, but a couple catches and showing
- 53:37Speaker 4: up and I mean it's you know, even for the
- 53:38Speaker 4: people who bring up Booty being productive, I mean he
- 53:41Speaker 4: did more than Juju did. Like Booty caught more balls
- 53:43Speaker 4: than Juju did, you know. So I don't know those guys.
- 53:46Speaker 4: I'm never gonna like fault somebody for showing up and
- 53:49Speaker 4: making plays because there are a bunch of these guys
- 53:50Speaker 4: that didn't really show up at all, and I mean
- 53:52Speaker 4: Thornton showed up, but then he was out.
- 53:54Speaker 5: The type of catches he was making Polk two are
- 53:56Speaker 5: the ones that you expect him to make within the
- 53:58Speaker 5: structure of the offense. You know, you made that catch
- 54:01Speaker 5: on the back end line in the red zone where
- 54:03Speaker 5: there was somebody within striking distance in terms of the coverage.
- 54:06Speaker 5: But he's got the strong hands and the body control
- 54:09Speaker 5: and that ability. You know, the catch that he made
- 54:11Speaker 5: in the corner of the end zone on the final
- 54:13Speaker 5: play that we talked a ton about already in mini camp, like,
- 54:16Speaker 5: those are the types of plays that you expect a
- 54:18Speaker 5: receiver with his skill set to be making. And so
- 54:21Speaker 5: the fact that he was making them is is, you know,
- 54:24Speaker 5: a good thing. If he was out there running by
- 54:26Speaker 5: people and in shorts and a T shirt, I would
- 54:28Speaker 5: be like, all right, let's let's see this happen with
- 54:31Speaker 5: the pads coming on. But the types of plays he
- 54:33Speaker 5: was making are the ones that we expected him to
- 54:36Speaker 5: translate to the league.

- 57:14Speaker 6: for this episode probably, but you know, we're working it, Chris.
- 57:18Speaker 6: The Celtics just won Banner eighteen. They did, they did.
- 57:21Speaker 6: Finally it was done. It's been what sixteen years, yeah,
- 57:24Speaker 6: sixteen years and top of the world again. It was
- 57:27Speaker 6: everybody says it's a bad series, but that's just because
- 57:29Speaker 6: their team wasn't in it.
- 57:31Speaker 10: It's one of those things too, where the Celtics just
- 57:33Speaker 10: dominated everybody.
- 57:34Speaker 6: Yeah all year. Oh yeah, it was. It was like
- 57:37Speaker 6: and we like I went to a Pacers game in Indianapolis.
- 57:40Speaker 6: Tickets were eleven bucks. Yeah, can you imagine how like
- 57:44Speaker 6: the cheap ticket.
- 57:44Speaker 9: Both so, oh, you're.
- 57:48Speaker 6: Memories a little fogg. I was just like it was
- 57:50Speaker 6: just oh, yeah, when you bought a jersey, didn't you do?
- 57:52Speaker 6: You remember what was Tyrese Halbert? That's right, you cursed
- 57:56Speaker 6: him after that. But that's okay, But it is okay.
- 57:58Speaker 6: It is okay because you know what, we won.
- 58:00Speaker 10: Ban They swept the indian Indianapolis gentlemen sweep.
- 58:04Speaker 6: Indeed, you get the MAVs.
- 58:05Speaker 9: Ye.
- 58:06Speaker 6: But Chris, do you know what happens when your team
- 58:08Speaker 6: wins a championship?
- 58:10Speaker 9: I think Boston has seen a lot of these.
- 58:12Speaker 6: Oh yeah, A parade, rades and Chris, I unfortunately couldn't
- 58:15Speaker 6: go first parade in a while. I haven't been able
- 58:17Speaker 6: to go to. But you you were able to go.
- 58:20Speaker 9: I was.
- 58:20Speaker 6: Can we get a bit of a first hand recap
- 58:22Speaker 6: of how was it? It was a beautiful day?
- 58:23Speaker 9: Wow, I mean it was perfect.
- 58:25Speaker 3: So was it hot?
- 58:26Speaker 6: Because the first couple of days it was hot?
- 58:28Speaker 9: It was hot.
- 58:28Speaker 10: I got there, arrived Copley Copley Center around uh.
- 58:33Speaker 9: Say like a thirty nine o'clock.
- 58:35Speaker 10: Take the train, Yeah, took the train from Franklin, actually
- 58:38Speaker 10: from Franklin Dedication. Yeah, took the took the train. Had
- 58:42Speaker 10: we had as we headed in, got there, settled, met
- 58:44Speaker 10: all the friends. Found a tree because we were like,
- 58:47Speaker 10: we're gonna need some some cool air.
- 58:49Speaker 6: Did you climb it?
- 58:50Speaker 2: Uh?
- 58:50Speaker 9: Nope, I do not.
- 58:51Speaker 3: I know I did not.
- 58:54Speaker 9: No one climbed it, thankfully.
- 58:56Speaker 3: Uh.
- 58:56Speaker 10: But while we were there, it was very entertaining people
- 58:59Speaker 10: who who might have drank too much there's some stretchers involved.
- 59:04Speaker 10: Nothing too bad, nothing too crazy, but hot hot. Yeah,
- 59:09Speaker 10: people go crazy sometimes.
- 59:10Speaker 6: And I mean first summer parade in sixteen years, that's.
- 59:13Speaker 9: Right, that's right.
- 59:14Speaker 10: So it was a big day, big day in Boston,
- 59:17Speaker 10: a lot of a lot of fun in all seriousness,
- 59:20Speaker 10: Like the whole atmosphere of Boston having a parade again
- 59:25Speaker 10: is just you can't beat it. You just can't beat it.
- 59:29Speaker 10: And when you're going St. Patrick's Day, you got players
- 59:33Speaker 10: catching drinks, you have players screaming.
- 59:35Speaker 9: Out out the side of the dunk boats.
- 59:38Speaker 10: I'm not gonna lie. It was a little bit of
- 59:39Speaker 10: a bigger parade than I thought it was going to
- 59:41Speaker 10: be because the Celtics are much longer.
- 59:43Speaker 6: Yeah. I was about to pass that because like when
- 59:44Speaker 6: the pass go, you have fifty three van roster plus
- 59:46Speaker 6: everybody else.
- 59:47Speaker 10: Yeah, I want to say there was around twelve to
- 59:49Speaker 10: sixteen boats that came by.
- 59:51Speaker 7: So pretty pretty good sized parade.
- 59:54Speaker 10: Obviously, they have like the like influencers and they have
- 59:58Speaker 10: like cheerleaders and all that stuff.
- 1:00:01Speaker 9: Dance team. Yeah.
- 1:00:03Speaker 10: So but it was really awesome overall and a super
- 1:00:07Speaker 10: fun time and like just the nostalgia being back at
- 1:00:11Speaker 10: a parade. I went to the My only other parade
- 1:00:14Speaker 10: that I went to because I was a little too
- 1:00:15Speaker 10: young for the other ones. Was my senior year of
- 1:00:17Speaker 10: high school with Teast twenty eighteen Patriots Championship.
- 1:00:21Speaker 9: Eighteen twenty eighteen. Oh that hurts twenty nineteen nineteen.
- 1:00:26Speaker 6: Yeah, I was right, yeah, no, yeah, yeah, you said
- 1:00:29Speaker 6: twenty sixteen earlier.
- 1:00:31Speaker 9: No, twenty sixteen was Falcons.
- 1:00:33Speaker 6: You do go to that one?
- 1:00:34Speaker 9: No, I told you I didn't go.
- 1:00:36Speaker 6: That was a great one.
- 1:00:37Speaker 10: But anyway, the one against the Rams that was that
- 1:00:41Speaker 10: was a fun time.
- 1:00:42Speaker 5: My first ever real parade.
- 1:00:44Speaker 10: And I mean, you think about the Patriots fan base
- 1:00:46Speaker 10: and how big it is, it really just comes down
- 1:00:50Speaker 10: to Boston and New England, like people from everywhere. Like
- 1:00:53Speaker 10: I think there was almost too million people at the
- 1:00:55Speaker 10: Celtics parade, like filled the streets, filled the streets.
- 1:00:59Speaker 6: It crazy because like you know, you always see whatever another,
- 1:01:02Speaker 6: like for example, when the Chiefs won their first one,
- 1:01:05Speaker 6: like with my homes, like there wasn't that many people
- 1:01:07Speaker 6: the Rams. The Rams was bad, but nobody seems to
- 1:01:11Speaker 6: do it like Boston.
- 1:01:11Speaker 9: It's crazy.
- 1:01:12Speaker 6: I'm sure. I'm sure if New York ever gets one,
- 1:01:16Speaker 6: it will be insane, but that's not gonna happen for a while.
- 1:01:19Speaker 6: I don't think so so.
- 1:01:20Speaker 10: True, I know, but it was honestly such a good
- 1:01:22Speaker 10: time and you missed.
- 1:01:24Speaker 9: You missed a good one. It was a long day.
- 1:01:27Speaker 9: I was in Boston, jeez.
- 1:01:29Speaker 10: I was in Boston until about five and then didn't
- 1:01:33Speaker 10: end up getting back to my house till I was
- 1:01:34Speaker 10: seven ish.
- 1:01:35Speaker 9: So there you go.
- 1:01:36Speaker 6: Full a full summer Friday.
- 1:01:38Speaker 9: For you, full summer Friday?
- 1:01:39Speaker 6: Did he? Did you go anywhere after the parade or.
- 1:01:42Speaker 10: Just went to my buddies? Watched Game six Stanley Cup playoffs?
- 1:01:45Speaker 9: What's going on up? Finally? Should say?
- 1:01:48Speaker 10: Game seven is we're shooting this. It's today, but the
- 1:01:53Speaker 10: winner will be decided by tomorrow.
- 1:01:55Speaker 6: Soho you got?
- 1:01:57Speaker 9: Oh?
- 1:01:58Speaker 10: I think, deep down just I want the oilers. I
- 1:02:01Speaker 10: want make David to get one, but I also want
- 1:02:04Speaker 10: make David to lose and like get frustrated that he's
- 1:02:07Speaker 10: not winning a ring in Edmonton and come into the
- 1:02:09Speaker 10: States and try to win a ring. Bro I mean,
- 1:02:13Speaker 10: he can come to the Bruins if he wants. I'm
- 1:02:15Speaker 10: not gonna I'm not gonna push him, but if he
- 1:02:17Speaker 10: wants to, he's welcome. But yeah, I think it'll it'll
- 1:02:21Speaker 10: be a good game tonight. I really don't want to
- 1:02:23Speaker 10: see the Florida Panthers win after losing three straight games. Yeah,
- 1:02:27Speaker 10: kind of embarrassing. Yeah, they'll deserve it.
- 1:02:30Speaker 6: They'll deserve it, all right. So here here's a question.
- 1:02:33Speaker 6: When when's the next Boston Parade gonna be? Who do
- 1:02:37Speaker 6: you think it is?
- 1:02:38Speaker 9: I think the Celtic repeat.
- 1:02:40Speaker 6: That's that's a good shout.
- 1:02:41Speaker 9: I think the Celtic repeat.
- 1:02:44Speaker 10: The whole roster plans ever turning, except for maybe O
- 1:02:47Speaker 10: Shape or Set who was he didn't take his player option.
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: I think it was like two points.
- 1:02:55Speaker 10: He had a blast. He's part of the championship. But
- 1:02:59Speaker 10: I think if there's someone that steps away, it'll be him.
- 1:03:02Speaker 10: But for the most part, I think all the guys
- 1:03:04Speaker 10: are returning. So if you have a four roster like
- 1:03:06Speaker 10: that again, plus whoever you bring on this year in
- 1:03:09Speaker 10: the NBA, drafforts is right around the corner.
- 1:03:11Speaker 9: YEP, could be really interesting.
- 1:03:13Speaker 6: Maybe you know what, I won't mix miss the next one.
- 1:03:16Speaker 6: You have my word, all right, dude, I'll wait for you,
- 1:03:18Speaker 6: all right, cool, I'll meet you at the Communi Real
- 1:03:20Speaker 6: Estate all right, Chris Any other highlights from that or
- 1:03:24Speaker 6: we're good.
- 1:03:24Speaker 9: I think we're good.
- 1:03:25Speaker 10: I mean I walked two and a half miles to
- 1:03:27Speaker 10: the bar afterwards, got your steps into real good.
- 1:03:29Speaker 6: There you go, real good. All right, Chris, it's the
- 1:03:32Speaker 6: off season, baby, it is, Scott. I think it's the
- 1:03:34Speaker 6: more topics. But guys, thanks for tuning in. We're gonna
- 1:03:36Speaker 6: get these back more regularly. Though He's take some time
- 1:03:38Speaker 6: off too, but thanks for joining the Let's get back
- 1:03:42Speaker 6: to Patrios of Bilting.
- 1:03:49Speaker 12: When someone accidentally threw away the school play costumes, no
- 1:03:53Speaker 12: replacements were shipped with FedEx and with picture proof of delivery,
- 1:03:57Speaker 12: everyone could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx where
- 1:04:01Speaker 12: now it's next for residential delivery only.
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: And now great moments in.
- 1:04:10Speaker 6: History.
- 1:04:11Speaker 5: But you know, Connor mcdermot's another guy that I've been
- 1:04:13Speaker 5: thinking about. You know, if they they probably could just
- 1:04:16Speaker 5: elevate him. But if they wanted to try to get
- 1:04:17Speaker 5: him on the roster, then Calvin Anderson could be the
- 1:04:20Speaker 5: odd man out there too.
- 1:04:21Speaker 7: And that would be my first reaction would be, like
- 1:04:24Speaker 7: they still have I think nine offensive linemen on the roster, right.
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: I could just see Tyrony went to I Ruy started
- 1:04:31Speaker 4: with bed.
- 1:04:32Speaker 13: He's got his hands behind his head, laying there and
- 1:04:34Speaker 13: his wife's wife says, the fiance, what are you thinking
- 1:04:38Speaker 13: about Connor McDermott.
- 1:04:41Speaker 9: I mean.
- 1:04:45Speaker 7: You're like, you're totally not wrong.
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: What about him?
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: No, it's the meme. It's like the couple in bed
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: and the girls like it's probably thinking about other girls.
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: And then it's actually.
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: Last night I was I was watching j that mean
- 1:05:04Speaker 4: mac Jones breakdown from last week, and she fell asleep
- 1:05:07Speaker 4: and she like wakes up and she's.
- 1:05:08Speaker 7: Like, who are you talking to? And I was like,
- 1:05:10Speaker 7: J T O. Sullivan, I don't worry about it.
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: That's another great moment from.
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: All Right.
- 1:05:19Speaker 4: We're back from non lunch, not lunch. We're I hate lunch,
- 1:05:23Speaker 4: you hate lunch.
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: Yeah. When Fred is in here, we don't do piece
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: of time right.
- 1:05:26Speaker 7: No, that's no. It's usually a Fred thing fast, despite
- 1:05:30Speaker 7: the fact that he blames it on me, we.
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: Fasten on her a thread.
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: None of us eat, just try to I'm saving room
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: for next week.
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: It's not really all right, So there we go, Tamara,
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: look at that eat it right up.
- 1:05:43Speaker 4: We got to dig on Evan, who hinted that he
- 1:05:45Speaker 4: wasn't a fan of some Fourth of July foods.
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: Watermelon definitely not.
- 1:05:50Speaker 4: Oh wow, No, I hate watermelon. Okay, watermelain grosses me out.
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: Mix it in with the fruit salad, it's pretty cool.
- 1:05:57Speaker 5: No, like you hear like the moisture horror, we're uncovering
- 1:06:04Speaker 5: new things about even hear the sau season we never
- 1:06:06Speaker 5: knew about, like watermelons be one of my least favorite
- 1:06:09Speaker 5: food Like Pam carrying a watermelon that's like Evan's health.
- 1:06:12Speaker 7: I will literally I would rather stab.
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: Okay, that that is, stab your eyes out and eat watermelon.
- 1:06:20Speaker 7: That's such a bad take.
- 1:06:21Speaker 5: I hate watermelon.
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: About candalo, I hate it.
- 1:06:25Speaker 6: Just like you.
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: Just don't like fruit.
- 1:06:27Speaker 5: I don't like any fruit.
- 1:06:31Speaker 7: Like fruit.
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: I could have swarm with fruit. I would have checked
- 1:06:34Speaker 4: my outrage had I realized it's just a fruit.
- 1:06:37Speaker 5: This is like one of those I thought for sure
- 1:06:39Speaker 5: that this is one of those things that we've discussed.
- 1:06:41Speaker 7: A blueberry, and fairness to me, I don't pay attention.
- 1:06:44Speaker 9: A lot.
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: No blueberries, nothing, no fruit. I don't really like blueberries.
- 1:06:49Speaker 9: No blueberries are gross.
- 1:06:51Speaker 5: But also it's gross.
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: This is this is nothing going to the banana, but
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: nothing to do with July fourth food. There was only
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: a small portion of the July fourth food.
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: That's true.
- 1:07:02Speaker 7: I wouldn't put that in a huge category. But yes,
- 1:07:04Speaker 7: it's always watermelon, always.
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: No, it's hot dogies, hamburgers.
- 1:07:10Speaker 7: People that like chick fruit, I feel like you're lying
- 1:07:12Speaker 7: to me.
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: Really, yes, Oh you're just gonna say people that love fruit,
- 1:07:16Speaker 4: you feel like, yeah, like they're just like saying, oh
- 1:07:19Speaker 4: I really, Oh this is so delicious.
- 1:07:21Speaker 7: It is it's nature's candy.
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: Like, no, no, it's not.
- 1:07:24Speaker 7: It's got a lot of sugar in it. That's probably
- 1:07:26Speaker 7: why I like it, Right.
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: I've had some really great grapes, Like.
- 1:07:31Speaker 7: Yeah, I agree. There's like the taste, like how did
- 1:07:35Speaker 7: they do it?
- 1:07:35Speaker 5: It's like you know what I like about grapes when
- 1:07:37Speaker 5: they make it into wine.
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: Ah, all right, that I like.
- 1:07:40Speaker 7: No, I made a nice fruit sal oranges, cut up
- 1:07:43Speaker 7: some strawberries.
- 1:07:43Speaker 6: And I'm not going to go my way to eat fruit.
- 1:07:46Speaker 7: Oh I would. I would absolutely pineapple.
- 1:07:48Speaker 6: It's fine apple.
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: Tremendous little chili lime. You never do the chili lime
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: size the spice on there, it's amazing. It's like such
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: a little lime juice.
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: Like just like take some apricots, some avocado spray.
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: A little.
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: Still. Basically, basically, Douce just said that his favorite part
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: about July fourth is the fruit salad. That's what he
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: just said.
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: That's good.
- 1:08:12Speaker 7: It's mostly just I like, I like some fruit salad.
- 1:08:15Speaker 4: Anything, any any drinking in the suns, hot dogs, hot dogs, cookouts.
- 1:08:22Speaker 4: His wife loves fireworks. She loves them. The fireworks. Gotta
- 1:08:25Speaker 4: we gotta do the fireworks. We got fireworks here, the
- 1:08:27Speaker 4: third or second fireworks here, the second, then town fireworks,
- 1:08:31Speaker 4: the third we can't get I was taking.
- 1:08:32Speaker 6: A placid and driving back by the gas station had
- 1:08:35Speaker 6: a firework display at it. I almost almost bought them,
- 1:08:37Speaker 6: because aren't they illegal?
- 1:08:38Speaker 4: They are legal, but my dad always is like, hey,
- 1:08:40Speaker 4: I'm gonna send you some fireworks floor like, don't don't
- 1:08:42Speaker 4: send it to me because I don't like it's more
- 1:08:44Speaker 4: of a burden to even think about where do I
- 1:08:46Speaker 4: set them off? And am I going to start a
- 1:08:48Speaker 4: forest fire? And like, I don't, I know, I don't
- 1:08:51Speaker 4: need to play with any of these things. But we
- 1:08:53Speaker 4: got some bunch of great emails here, so let's uh,
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: you know, jump into some of these here to get
- 1:08:57Speaker 4: us through the last hour. Since we did give the
- 1:08:59Speaker 4: fans so much Patriots talk.
- 1:09:02Speaker 9: You don't care.
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: I'm okay, I'm doing great.
- 1:09:04Speaker 7: I'm worried about you. It's like you're stroking out in
- 1:09:06Speaker 7: the middle of reas and stuff.
- 1:09:09Speaker 4: He didn't have lunch, and then we started talking about fast.
- 1:09:12Speaker 7: I didn't realize that I was the only reason why
- 1:09:14Speaker 7: we had lunch every day every show.
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: Also, take down.
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: Your sandwich should be fair foods.
- 1:09:21Speaker 7: No, I'm well aware of what Fred says, as he
- 1:09:24Speaker 7: has like his chicken palm dinner next to him. He
- 1:09:28Speaker 7: has the biggest lunches to like, I get a sub
- 1:09:30Speaker 7: every day once in a while. You got a small pep.
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: The penny with the z is a pound at least,
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: no question.
- 1:09:37Speaker 7: Like that's what I would eat for dinner.
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: He always throws me at a nugget. You know that
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: is true. He rarely eats all the rest of you.
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: Throws the chicken nugget.
- 1:09:47Speaker 5: Gets the fingers, then usually we get the.
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: I do get the buff Do you not finish tenders? Tho,
- 1:09:52Speaker 3: I'm always surprised that I'm like, I always do the
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: buff tends.
- 1:09:55Speaker 7: I finished. I just don't eat all the fries.
- 1:09:58Speaker 6: Just the seagulls is grabbing the rise.
- 1:10:00Speaker 7: Seagulls in the radio studio.
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: That's just what are they doing in this new radio
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: studio you're talking about. It's gonna have seagulls. Perfect, it's
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: got grass in it.
- 1:10:09Speaker 7: Really, have you guys seen them?
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: Sure it does.
- 1:10:14Speaker 7: He sent me a video yesterday that he took of
- 1:10:16Speaker 7: the new studio.
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: Oh I was, I actually got a tour tour.
- 1:10:19Speaker 7: How big it looks fantastic? A little small? All right,
- 1:10:22Speaker 7: it looks it looks really nice, new floor, all kinds
- 1:10:25Speaker 7: of new.
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: Uh the world map with the pins in it.
- 1:10:31Speaker 7: I'm not sure if they found a home for the studio.
- 1:10:33Speaker 6: Beach studio.
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: Well, the Brady fat had still be there.
- 1:10:37Speaker 6: That's gone.
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: I wanted to try to get that too before somebody.
- 1:10:41Speaker 5: It crumbled apart as I pulled it off the door.
- 1:10:43Speaker 7: I'm a little disappointed that the Brady fat Head is gone.
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a reminder. It's hanging over our shield. It
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: was as we talked about everything.
- 1:10:50Speaker 7: Quick looking ahead.
- 1:10:51Speaker 4: Quick question from Elijah Patriot's nation is tired of all
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: the navy? Will we see the silver Pants more this year?
- 1:10:57Speaker 4: Any chance of new unis next year? Anybody I think
- 1:11:03Speaker 4: we'll see I think we'll see some silver pants.
- 1:11:05Speaker 6: I think some silver Don't you need to keep the
- 1:11:07Speaker 6: uniforms for four years? Five years?
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: I don't know what the Jets change theirs. They were
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: pretty quick turnaround on there.
- 1:11:13Speaker 7: They're just gonna say that there's always a chance. Was
- 1:11:16Speaker 7: the last time they changed all those things?
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: I don't know what I mean, maybe it was five
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: years and just went by quick.
- 1:11:22Speaker 7: No, twenty twenty one.
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: Yeah, they would Jets like, oh the Jets. I don't
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: know us because I like the Jets old ones, but
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: they went to these new ones.
- 1:11:30Speaker 6: It's crazy because I used to hate the Jets, like
- 1:11:32Speaker 6: thousands uniforms. Now I missed them.
- 1:11:34Speaker 4: Yeah, I like those ones, I know, I know. I
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: think the ones they've gone back to a little bit
- 1:11:37Speaker 4: a little bit better. I feel like it's less electric
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: green and now it's weird striping on the shoulders all
- 1:11:42Speaker 4: the uniforms.
- 1:11:43Speaker 5: Now, there's there's a lot going on.
- 1:11:45Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:11:45Speaker 5: I feel like whereas the ones we grew up with
- 1:11:47Speaker 5: and like the Dynasty uniforms are just very very simple,
- 1:11:50Speaker 5: like this is just.
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: A blue football uniform.
- 1:11:53Speaker 7: Yeah, whereas now there's all these stripes and seventies.
- 1:11:56Speaker 5: For me, yeah, it's just a lot going on.
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: Nick is the c email to me, but it's for
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: all of us. The year is nineteen ninety one.
- 1:12:02Speaker 4: You're a casting director for a new sitcom called Seinfeld.
- 1:12:07Speaker 4: Maybe you should call it the Seinfeld Chronicles that it's new.
- 1:12:09Speaker 5: I feel like Fred needs to this.
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: You have to cast everyone from the PU crew to
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: a role. Who plays what.
- 1:12:17Speaker 7: Tough?
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: I think Eva is George. I don't know you've been
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: You've been doing something like weird, like I don't like Watermelon.
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: That feels very George to me.
- 1:12:22Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:12:23Speaker 7: I don't feel like our crew necessarily fits Seinfeld.
- 1:12:28Speaker 6: Fred.
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: I can see Fred as a Jerry too, though. Yeah,
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: he's kind of in the middle of the straight man
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: a little bit. Sometimes.
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: I haven't seen this, so I'm just never seen Jerry Jerry.
- 1:12:38Speaker 6: Yeah, thank you, Jerry Jerry.
- 1:12:41Speaker 13: Hello.
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:12:42Speaker 5: I don't feel like, like I said, I don't feel
- 1:12:44Speaker 5: like we this this cast of characters. I don't think
- 1:12:46Speaker 5: we fit sind we don't really have.
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: A Kramer on the show. That would be a loose
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: cannon somebody.
- 1:12:51Speaker 7: Yeah, I think it's Fred.
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: Maybe we all have elements of all of them.
- 1:12:56Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying like there's some quirkiness, there's some
- 1:12:59Speaker 4: straight man, there's some George retentive stuff.
- 1:13:02Speaker 7: Now, can we can we like alternate Alex and Tamara
- 1:13:06Speaker 7: as a lane.
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: Or is that I think they're both because they're not accepted.
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: Who dances?
- 1:13:12Speaker 7: We have to pick who's the worst dancer?
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: Yes, oh god, I've never seen either of them. Neither dance.
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: All right, so we'll put Samara and Alex dance off
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: on next.
- 1:13:22Speaker 7: Week and whoever dances the worst.
- 1:13:26Speaker 5: I've never seen these two dance. I've seen some people
- 1:13:28Speaker 5: in our office dance. Let me tell you we have
- 1:13:32Speaker 5: nobody that's going to quit their day job.
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: Where have you this? Mike has the move exactly the movie.
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: I got it from the Cheerleaders.
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: It's the come with me move when you're like you're
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: walking away and come with me.
- 1:13:48Speaker 7: That's my that attitude walk not weird. Mike does it
- 1:13:53Speaker 7: very well. A lot of practice.
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: Practice it uh another one.
- 1:13:58Speaker 9: J C.
- 1:13:58Speaker 4: Jackson, Hey, guys, hed and right in. This is from
- 1:14:00Speaker 4: Chris Actually, Chris Colfax, California. I remember seeing a lot
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: about J. C. Jackson at some point during the offseason
- 1:14:06Speaker 4: of his rookie year when did he begin to stand
- 1:14:08Speaker 4: out and when did you guys actually start to take
- 1:14:10Speaker 4: him seriously as a potential contributor. Who is your prediction
- 1:14:14Speaker 4: of that guy this year? Mine is Alex Austin Tamara's guy.
- 1:14:17Speaker 4: Also side note Sacramento Kings fan here, Paul, What am
- 1:14:21Speaker 4: I getting with Providence kid?
- 1:14:22Speaker 3: Devin Carter? Thanks, y'all?
- 1:14:25Speaker 7: Good all around player. I mean, I'm not going to
- 1:14:28Speaker 7: try to project what he's going to be in the NBA,
- 1:14:31Speaker 7: but really, you know, he could score a lot of heart, like,
- 1:14:35Speaker 7: played really hard and carried that team at times they
- 1:14:38Speaker 7: lost Matt Morrell.
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: If he's listening to IM saying he's got the leadership.
- 1:14:41Speaker 7: Of he carried that team when the big guy got
- 1:14:44Speaker 7: hurt and I I can't remember the big guy's name
- 1:14:47Speaker 7: when he tore his ACL.
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: Nate begins with the nah, I'm sorry, I'm blanking on
- 1:14:52Speaker 2: it too, Nate Hopkins.
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: No, not Hopkins, I'll google it.
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: No.
- 1:14:57Speaker 7: So Devin Carter, good solid player, good leader, carried the team,
- 1:15:03Speaker 7: they had some success. I don't know if he's an
- 1:15:06Speaker 7: NBA player. There's a lot of that in this draft.
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a tough draft. Wasn't a very bad draft?
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: Before you guys start talking more about basketball, what do
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: you think of J C. Jackson? What was when when
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: he showed up on the scene. Was he making plays
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: on the ball?
- 1:15:18Speaker 7: I remember Malcolm Butler, I remember that was making a
- 1:15:21Speaker 7: lot of plays. I don't really remember much about j C. Jackson.
- 1:15:23Speaker 7: He just kind of was out there. He you know,
- 1:15:27Speaker 7: he was a contributor right away. He was a guy
- 1:15:29Speaker 7: that would have been drafted had he not had off
- 1:15:32Speaker 7: off field stuff. So there was definitely a level of
- 1:15:35Speaker 7: talent that was higher than the average undrafted rookie.
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:15:39Speaker 5: He I wasn't here. I didn't cover the team yet.
- 1:15:42Speaker 5: In't for the eighteen camp. I came in right at
- 1:15:44Speaker 5: the start of the regular season, so I don't remember
- 1:15:47Speaker 5: camp of eighteen. But his rookie year he started to
- 1:15:50Speaker 5: play and was oh yeah right right away. Had a big,
- 1:15:54Speaker 5: big role in the AFC Championship game in Kansas City. Yeah,
- 1:15:58Speaker 5: guarding Kelsey for a lot of that game, and then
- 1:16:00Speaker 5: going on to Sammy Watkins at times too. So he
- 1:16:04Speaker 5: played in the season, you know, almost a lot. I
- 1:16:08Speaker 5: want to say out of the gate, but I don't.
- 1:16:11Speaker 5: I wasn't there for the eighteen camp, so I couldn't
- 1:16:13Speaker 5: tell you.
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: I don't.
- 1:16:14Speaker 7: He didn't really stand out to me as much as
- 1:16:16Speaker 7: Malcolm Butler did. Yeah, fourteen.
- 1:16:20Speaker 4: One question here from Cole and Iowa maybe spark some discussion.
- 1:16:24Speaker 4: I saw recently that Gronk said there were plays that
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: only he and Brady knew what the play was. Brady
- 1:16:29Speaker 4: was changing the play on the fly and wasn't able
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: to let everyone know. There was also a micd up
- 1:16:33Speaker 4: with James White where Brady told James check down mid
- 1:16:36Speaker 4: play while carrying out a play action fake. This makes
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: me think that Tom was improvising plays at such a
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: high level that it looked like that was the plan
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: all along. This makes me wonder about an offensive coordinator.
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: The actual game day play calling is one part, but
- 1:16:50Speaker 4: equipping an offense with tools to modify a play in
- 1:16:53Speaker 4: the moment.
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: Is obviously a huge way to make a team successful.
- 1:16:56Speaker 4: This doesn't take away from the OC role, but it
- 1:16:59Speaker 4: makes me think that the preparation is much more important.
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: Than the play calling. Agreed, disagree?
- 1:17:04Speaker 4: How long does a quarterback have to play before he's
- 1:17:07Speaker 4: given the latitude to make those calls and modify a play?
- 1:17:11Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 1:17:11Speaker 5: I kind of disagreed, but like not not in like
- 1:17:14Speaker 5: a hostile way. I just feel like, whenever I hear
- 1:17:18Speaker 5: things about Brady, I'm just like, Okay, he could do
- 1:17:21Speaker 5: that the near impair every but the mere plebes in
- 1:17:26Speaker 5: the league couldn't. Like he was on a Brady. You know,
- 1:17:28Speaker 5: this is kind of on the same lines he was
- 1:17:29Speaker 5: on I want to say. It was Colin Coward Show,
- 1:17:32Speaker 5: and he was talking about how the most important thing
- 1:17:35Speaker 5: to him was snapping running a good play, not necessarily
- 1:17:39Speaker 5: the result of the play, but when he snapped the
- 1:17:42Speaker 5: ball into the defense, he wanted to make sure it
- 1:17:44Speaker 5: was a play that could conceivably work against the defense.
- 1:17:47Speaker 5: And he says that that's the biggest thing that he
- 1:17:49Speaker 5: sees with quarterbacks nowadays is that they don't play that
- 1:17:53Speaker 5: three D chess of the defenses. Looks like the defense
- 1:17:56Speaker 5: is doing this. You know, we're right, we have this
- 1:17:59Speaker 5: play call like we have you know, outside zone left
- 1:18:01Speaker 5: on and they have a blitz coming right at it,
- 1:18:04Speaker 5: and I'm gonna check out of that and you know,
- 1:18:06Speaker 5: run it away from the blitz.
- 1:18:08Speaker 9: You know.
- 1:18:08Speaker 5: He says a lot of people he sees nowadays will
- 1:18:10Speaker 5: just snap the ball and then the run gets blown
- 1:18:12Speaker 5: up for two yards and we keep going. But the
- 1:18:15Speaker 5: one thing that not to say it wasn't good commentary,
- 1:18:18Speaker 5: but it was so much he was on such a
- 1:18:20Speaker 5: different plane mentally and such a different level that I
- 1:18:24Speaker 5: feel like he takes for granted almost how natural and
- 1:18:27Speaker 5: easy that was for him to just look at a
- 1:18:30Speaker 5: defense pre snap, see exactly what they're in and what
- 1:18:33Speaker 5: they're doing, and then not only be able to identify
- 1:18:36Speaker 5: the defense and also be able to know what to
- 1:18:38Speaker 5: get the offense into to properly make a play work.
- 1:18:42Speaker 5: I don't know if a lot of quarterbacks are even
- 1:18:44Speaker 5: just mentally capable of doing that.
- 1:18:46Speaker 7: And the part that I would just sort of question
- 1:18:48Speaker 7: there is I Brady made anybody look better. Obviously, like
- 1:18:53Speaker 7: the offensive coordinators was secondary to him, all of them,
- 1:18:57Speaker 7: you know, But I don't necessarily consider preparation being diminishing
- 1:19:03Speaker 7: for the offensive coordinator as opposed to the play calling.
- 1:19:07Speaker 7: The offensive coordinator is part of that preparation. Now, it
- 1:19:10Speaker 7: was all Bill and Tom with a game plan. They
- 1:19:13Speaker 7: would come up and you saw that famously in that documentary.
- 1:19:16Speaker 7: Then they would go and talk to Billy. Oh, But
- 1:19:18Speaker 7: like that's part of the preparation, is what the offensive
- 1:19:21Speaker 7: coordinator is doing all week to help get this game
- 1:19:24Speaker 7: plan implemented, so we can work with what you're calling
- 1:19:27Speaker 7: on Sundays now. Brady obviously gave you a lot of
- 1:19:30Speaker 7: latitude because he made bad plays good, you know, on
- 1:19:33Speaker 7: a consistent basis.
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: Yeah, step over to Thunds real quick. Curtis been holding
- 1:19:37Speaker 4: on from Saint Louis. Hey, Curtis, that's going.
- 1:19:41Speaker 15: Yea, how you guys doing today?
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: Good? Thanks?
- 1:19:45Speaker 15: Just a couple of quick questions. So, I know there's
- 1:19:48Speaker 15: a lot of a lot of contracts going on with
- 1:19:50Speaker 15: like receivers and stuff lately, and I'm just wondering what
- 1:19:53Speaker 15: your guys' thoughts on, say, maybe trying to trade for
- 1:19:57Speaker 15: Amari Cooper. He's kind of expressed concerns with his on
- 1:20:00Speaker 15: track and everything. I know Evans talked a little bit
- 1:20:03Speaker 15: about like why would they trade them. They're kind of
- 1:20:05Speaker 15: going all in to make that work with with the
- 1:20:09Speaker 15: Shawn and everything, But I mean, is it a bad
- 1:20:11Speaker 15: idea to, you know, maybe make that call just to
- 1:20:13Speaker 15: see I think you know when he was traded there
- 1:20:16Speaker 15: it was like a fifth and a stick or something.
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: I mean, so what do you want to pay?
- 1:20:22Speaker 15: Well, I mean, I don't think it would be something
- 1:20:24Speaker 15: as egregious as what it would be to say, get
- 1:20:26Speaker 15: an auk or something. I know we're playing the young
- 1:20:29Speaker 15: guys and everything.
- 1:20:30Speaker 7: No, no, it wouldn't. But what do you want to
- 1:20:32Speaker 7: But what do you want to pay him? Because he's
- 1:20:34Speaker 7: not coming if you.
- 1:20:35Speaker 15: Don't, you know, Yeah, I don't know what it would
- 1:20:39Speaker 15: take to pay him. I mean, obviously a little more,
- 1:20:41Speaker 15: maybe extend him.
- 1:20:42Speaker 7: A little See, I would rather do that with with
- 1:20:45Speaker 7: Higgins or Ayuk, who were younger than Cooper. If I'm
- 1:20:48Speaker 7: going to extend them.
- 1:20:49Speaker 15: Obviously, but I mean they're going to cost a lot
- 1:20:52Speaker 15: more to do.
- 1:20:52Speaker 5: So, yeah, I'm not sure that well in terms of
- 1:20:55Speaker 5: the trade compensation.
- 1:20:57Speaker 7: Oh, the trade compensation, yes, but I'm talking with a contract.
- 1:21:00Speaker 7: Cooper wants money, Cooper years old. Yeah, so, like, I
- 1:21:05Speaker 7: just think it's gonna cost you a lot of money.
- 1:21:08Speaker 7: I'm a big Cooper fan. I think he's terrific. Yeah,
- 1:21:11Speaker 7: and they obviously, Oh boy, all right, Curtison.
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: You gotta catch the train.
- 1:21:16Speaker 7: Don't miss the train.
- 1:21:17Speaker 5: I don't want to dunk on the idea completely.
- 1:21:20Speaker 7: I'm not dunking out at all. I like Cooper.
- 1:21:22Speaker 5: I've always liked Cooper's game. He played in this offense.
- 1:21:25Speaker 5: Obviously with Cleveland over the last couple of years, has
- 1:21:27Speaker 5: familiarity with the Van Pelt, the system, all that kind
- 1:21:29Speaker 5: of stuff. You just look at his age, you look
- 1:21:32Speaker 5: at the contract that he wants and is getting currently
- 1:21:34Speaker 5: paid on. I don't know if the Patriots are necessarily
- 1:21:38Speaker 5: the team that needs a Marii Cooper right now.
- 1:21:41Speaker 6: I think the Pats are past the windows closed for
- 1:21:43Speaker 6: trading for a thirty thirty one year old receiver exactly.
- 1:21:45Speaker 6: Think it doesn't make sense anymore. Maybe two or three
- 1:21:49Speaker 6: years ago, but I just don't make the benefit of
- 1:21:51Speaker 6: that next year put you over the top. Maybe yeah,
- 1:21:52Speaker 6: if Drake may hits the scene, hits the ground running,
- 1:21:56Speaker 6: then maybe, but it just it doesn't seem like it
- 1:21:57Speaker 6: makes sense.
- 1:21:58Speaker 5: Great.
- 1:21:58Speaker 4: Another call coming in from North Carolina from Kendall. Hey, Kendall,
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: how's it going?
- 1:22:03Speaker 9: All right?
- 1:22:04Speaker 15: All right? I want to ask you you have a
- 1:22:06Speaker 15: question about kJ Osborne. What have y'all seen for him
- 1:22:10Speaker 15: on this season?
- 1:22:11Speaker 7: And what do you think you have gotcha?
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: Thanks Kennel.
- 1:22:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I gotta admit it was a little dicey at
- 1:22:18Speaker 5: least to start for kJ Osborne had some drops in
- 1:22:21Speaker 5: practice that didn't look great, and he had the issues
- 1:22:23Speaker 5: with drops last year in Minnesota as well, so it
- 1:22:25Speaker 5: was kind of an extension of that. And he's just
- 1:22:28Speaker 5: one of those guys to me that we're kind of
- 1:22:30Speaker 5: talking about this is Kaishan Boody. It's nothing special, Yeah,
- 1:22:34Speaker 5: there's nothing. Do I think he could play a role
- 1:22:36Speaker 5: and hold down a spot in the top three for
- 1:22:39Speaker 5: a year and as these younger guys start to develop
- 1:22:43Speaker 5: and emerge, yeah, I think so he'll be on the team.
- 1:22:46Speaker 5: He has some guaranteed money.
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: Forgetting about him, like I can't forgetting about it.
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: I was gonna say, is it bad that, like you
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: forget he's there.
- 1:22:52Speaker 3: I feel like what.
- 1:22:53Speaker 5: You're getting is like a little bit better than what
- 1:22:56Speaker 5: Juju was last year, just because he's going to be
- 1:22:59Speaker 5: healthier and a.
- 1:23:00Speaker 7: Lot better off the field. And I think we talked
- 1:23:02Speaker 7: about Born in that regard with being trying to be
- 1:23:05Speaker 7: a leader, and I think that's what Osborne's sort of
- 1:23:08Speaker 7: profile is. I think that they could use a veteran
- 1:23:11Speaker 7: to help the Douglases, the Poles, the Bakers, you know,
- 1:23:16Speaker 7: doing things the right way. And I think Osborne has
- 1:23:19Speaker 7: that reputation as being a good off field guy I
- 1:23:22Speaker 7: I like that you.
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: Bring that up, Paul, because I would definitely not want
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: it solely being on Juju's back to lead those all
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: those guys the right way.
- 1:23:29Speaker 3: I don't want no, I don't want him leading.
- 1:23:31Speaker 4: I was just going to say, like, am I being
- 1:23:33Speaker 4: unfair not thinking that he's a good element in the
- 1:23:36Speaker 4: locker room?
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: Like?
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: Is that just me kind of misreading things?
- 1:23:38Speaker 4: It's just every time he kind of talks, he just
- 1:23:40Speaker 4: got this like don't worry, we got it, like that
- 1:23:43Speaker 4: kind of vibe to me.
- 1:23:44Speaker 3: No, No, Juju.
- 1:23:45Speaker 7: Like it's something in one of the spring camps one
- 1:23:48Speaker 7: of the days that I wasn't there, that he sort
- 1:23:49Speaker 7: of interrupted an interview that you guys were doing. I
- 1:23:51Speaker 7: think now he was walking off, but like he was like,
- 1:23:54Speaker 7: y'all got to check out the locker room.
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: Yeah, way that that kind of stuff. Yeah, I don't know,
- 1:23:59Speaker 3: I don't.
- 1:23:59Speaker 7: I don't a lot of I think that's a leader.
- 1:24:03Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:24:03Speaker 7: I would actually want him to stay far away exactly.
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: That's what.
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: And like the thing that happened on his snapchat that
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: we will not discuss further on here, that too, Like
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: I would want him off my tam.
- 1:24:15Speaker 7: You guys know, we don't know about this. It's bad.
- 1:24:19Speaker 7: I don't pretty much.
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: If Bill was still the coach and that happened, he'd
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: be out here.
- 1:24:25Speaker 5: Maybe. I don't know.
- 1:24:25Speaker 9: Bill.
- 1:24:26Speaker 5: The last couple of Jack Jones brought guns to Logan.
- 1:24:30Speaker 7: Still on the team, but.
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: Often this is different.
- 1:24:36Speaker 4: Showing his gun on Instagram by a mistake was is
- 1:24:38Speaker 4: not exactly the same he showed his peace.
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: I can't, I can't.
- 1:24:46Speaker 3: All right, we're going back to this.
- 1:24:48Speaker 4: But yeah, I like that point he snapped. We just
- 1:24:52Speaker 4: caught a glimpse of his gun. He's real gun you're
- 1:24:54Speaker 4: talking about right, like.
- 1:24:55Speaker 5: His his love gun.
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: I always love gun. That's how it's kiss. Like Brandon
- 1:25:01Speaker 3: Spike situations. That were what we're talking about. Sorry, you
- 1:25:03Speaker 3: were like children. All Right, we're going We're going back
- 1:25:09Speaker 3: out the beaten path.
- 1:25:09Speaker 4: Here with an email from Nat from Santa Cruz by
- 1:25:12Speaker 4: way of Cambridge, spending the summer in LA.
- 1:25:15Speaker 7: He's been around.
- 1:25:16Speaker 4: I was walking in Griffith Park, good spot last week.
- 1:25:19Speaker 4: I listened in to PU and Bill's peech came on
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: during intermission. I stared out onto the city, taking in
- 1:25:24Speaker 4: the crowd energy. It felt like listening to a great
- 1:25:27Speaker 4: live concert album. Sorry, for the inflection that's mine.
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: I don't know why. Uh. That made me wonder what
- 1:25:32Speaker 3: are your What are the favorite live albums of the
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: PU crew?
- 1:25:35Speaker 4: I am partial to Simon and Garfunkel in Central Park.
- 1:25:38Speaker 4: That's a classic, as it was one of the tape
- 1:25:40Speaker 4: my parents could agree on on road trips. Also a
- 1:25:42Speaker 4: big fan of Frampton Comes Alive one from the seventies.
- 1:25:46Speaker 3: There, Paul Off season shows are the best. Keep up
- 1:25:49Speaker 3: the amazing work. You guys got any live ones, I'm
- 1:25:50Speaker 3: gonna throw one in.
- 1:25:51Speaker 4: It's just ac DC. They got a live album where
- 1:25:54Speaker 4: it's like, I just like hearing the crowd with you.
- 1:25:55Speaker 4: So you're gonna listen to a CDC to get fired up?
- 1:25:57Speaker 4: Like I like listening to live albums. It's a little fast,
- 1:26:01Speaker 4: you know, you.
- 1:26:01Speaker 3: Hear the crowd in the background. But I don't think otherwise.
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: I have a lot. I'm not really a big.
- 1:26:07Speaker 7: If I'm actually there. Yeah, I'm not going to buy
- 1:26:09Speaker 7: an album which is live. Yeah, I'm I'm not a
- 1:26:14Speaker 7: live album guy.
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: Well you're a rap guy, and you said before rap
- 1:26:17Speaker 3: doesn't really translate. Lot.
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: I also just can't trust Evan after seeing his Spotify.
- 1:26:22Speaker 7: Wrapped, so oh really, I can't trust him after because
- 1:26:27Speaker 7: Taylor Swift was like high up. Yeah yeah, because you
- 1:26:30Speaker 7: know Swift was excellent. Yeah, I don't understand Taylor. I'm
- 1:26:35Speaker 7: learning something about that.
- 1:26:37Speaker 4: I didn't want to bring up Da Matty because I
- 1:26:38Speaker 4: definitely had a Dave Matthew's face, like mostly in college.
- 1:26:41Speaker 7: But I saw cuts are too soft, sensitive fraud. I
- 1:26:49Speaker 7: saw him at one point, Jack Johnson anymore Jack Johnson.
- 1:26:55Speaker 4: That's not the defense man. No, no, no different guy,
- 1:26:59Speaker 4: the barefoot guy, the barefoot surfer. I saw him and
- 1:27:02Speaker 4: I actually saw him in Santa Barbara.
- 1:27:04Speaker 5: Yeah, I had Taylor Swift. My list of on Spotify
- 1:27:10Speaker 5: is hilarious. Well, it's like the first song on the album,
- 1:27:12Speaker 5: so obviously if you when you're getting on the album,
- 1:27:15Speaker 5: it's gonna be bomb.
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: It was Taylor Swift and Kanye West.
- 1:27:20Speaker 5: I'm like, what are we doing? Well, Taylor Swift is
- 1:27:22Speaker 5: like my like Kanye West, he's got a collect tastings.
- 1:27:27Speaker 7: I say this, I say judgment over Kanye from Tamar.
- 1:27:31Speaker 5: Like I say this, and I I get so much
- 1:27:34Speaker 5: crap from from from Bradley and everybody upstairs about this
- 1:27:38Speaker 5: because I'm Jewish and I shouldn't like Kanye West. But
- 1:27:42Speaker 5: Kanye West is my favorite musical artist of all time.
- 1:27:45Speaker 7: So I Kanye all his good music came out before
- 1:27:49Speaker 7: the Jewish hate stuff.
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: I will say old Kanye his music was was very Yeah.
- 1:27:55Speaker 5: So I listened to Kanye quite frequently. But if I
- 1:27:58Speaker 5: if I want to like, it's a good it is.
- 1:28:01Speaker 5: If I want to like, like, if I'm like flying
- 1:28:03Speaker 5: back from a road game. This is why Taylor Stift
- 1:28:06Speaker 5: gets up there, because when we're flying back on the
- 1:28:08Speaker 5: plane and we're like, it's you know, three o'clock in
- 1:28:10Speaker 5: the morning, I'm not going to be listening to Kanye West,
- 1:28:13Speaker 5: like I need something that's just going to like, you know,
- 1:28:15Speaker 5: let me zone out and maybe fall. Yeah, exactly, So
- 1:28:19Speaker 5: I just listened. I mean, she's just it's not it's
- 1:28:21Speaker 5: pop music. It's not like I'm actually listening to it
- 1:28:24Speaker 5: like religiously, you know, sitting there.
- 1:28:26Speaker 2: But so what about on the way to the stadium
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: on game day, you're leaving your house Kanye Community to work.
- 1:28:33Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I mean, like I'm not I'm not like playing,
- 1:28:36Speaker 5: So I don't like get up. I don't really usually
- 1:28:43Speaker 5: listen at any I actually don't usually listen to anything
- 1:28:50Speaker 5: because I'm usually writing up an active's analysis and by
- 1:28:53Speaker 5: that point, no, phone, you're talking about road game.
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: No, I'm saying, like, you're driving from your house to Gellette?
- 1:29:04Speaker 3: What are you doing?
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: What are you listening to?
- 1:29:06Speaker 4: Sometimes I'm talking to Jess, so yeah, like so it's
- 1:29:09Speaker 4: not and then Barth just fire each other up, like
- 1:29:12Speaker 4: do this today?
- 1:29:13Speaker 5: Yeah, we are if I'm if I'm driving, like if
- 1:29:15Speaker 5: I'm driving from like, if it's a home game and
- 1:29:18Speaker 5: I'm driving a Gillette, then I'm probably on the foot
- 1:29:19Speaker 5: with Jess.
- 1:29:20Speaker 7: But if it's a road game, He's like, so, how.
- 1:29:22Speaker 3: Long are you going to be gone the games today?
- 1:29:24Speaker 3: It's the whole day. It's gonna be the whole three hours.
- 1:29:26Speaker 7: Again, you're gonna do the whole day, so you're not
- 1:29:28Speaker 7: coming home at the half?
- 1:29:31Speaker 3: You know, I have to work afterwards too, Right, we
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: don't have to talk about that.
- 1:29:34Speaker 7: She she knows that that's the opposite, Like, it's a
- 1:29:37Speaker 7: game day today, right, so I won't see Okay, Okay,
- 1:29:39Speaker 7: it's not even the best.
- 1:29:41Speaker 5: The best part is I don't even need to tell
- 1:29:42Speaker 5: her it's a She knows it's a game day, and
- 1:29:44Speaker 5: she knows my schedule, and I don't have to do
- 1:29:46Speaker 5: any of that stuff.
- 1:29:47Speaker 4: It's nice you still talk to her on the way
- 1:29:48Speaker 4: to the stadium's yes, it's good. This is this is
- 1:29:50Speaker 4: a deep question here from Dan and Boston, and I
- 1:29:53Speaker 4: kind of think Fred should be here for it deep.
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: But let's let's just jump in real quick.
- 1:29:57Speaker 4: Uh, since it's kind of a downtime, I wanted to
- 1:30:00Speaker 4: ask a broader question about Belichick and ask you guys,
- 1:30:03Speaker 4: if you guys could do a little bit of an autopsy,
- 1:30:05Speaker 4: part of the morbid terminology on what went wrong. In
- 1:30:08Speaker 4: my opinion, it ultimately came down to having too big
- 1:30:10Speaker 4: of an ego and not replenishing his coaching staff. From
- 1:30:12Speaker 4: a practical standpoint, what do you think was his true downfall?
- 1:30:17Speaker 7: I think that was part of it. Yeah, I think
- 1:30:19Speaker 7: the drafting is the biggest drafting drafting.
- 1:30:21Speaker 3: I think the ego thing is.
- 1:30:23Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:30:23Speaker 4: I mean I probably would have downplayed it before the Dynasty,
- 1:30:26Speaker 4: but I think you can't watch that and you know not,
- 1:30:30Speaker 4: I think too, just like watching Tom and you watched
- 1:30:33Speaker 4: some of the Brady ceremony, It's like I just found
- 1:30:35Speaker 4: myself like, why couldn't Bill have kind.
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: Of just adjusted his approach a little bit and you know.
- 1:30:40Speaker 4: In hindsight now it just it seems obvious, and you
- 1:30:42Speaker 4: guys can make fun of me for not even seeing
- 1:30:43Speaker 4: it at the time, Like they should have just rowed
- 1:30:46Speaker 4: Brady into the ground, right, they would have. They should
- 1:30:48Speaker 4: have just rowed Brady into the ground and just figure
- 1:30:50Speaker 4: it out. He's a special guy. And as much as
- 1:30:54Speaker 4: you thought maybe the wheels would fall off, the wheels
- 1:30:56Speaker 4: never completely fell off, Like he was still pretty good
- 1:30:58Speaker 4: to the end, right, Like, I mean, they couldn't made
- 1:31:00Speaker 4: that decision absolutely to do what.
- 1:31:02Speaker 7: They did in this last year. There's no reason why
- 1:31:05Speaker 7: they couldn't have continued to win eleven or twelve games,
- 1:31:08Speaker 7: been a playoff team. Maybe they wouldn't have been a
- 1:31:10Speaker 7: super Bowl team, but they could have continued to do
- 1:31:12Speaker 7: it every day.
- 1:31:13Speaker 5: And maybe instead of stumbling into NI kill Harry, you
- 1:31:16Speaker 5: actually stumbled into some offensive talent, right, And you.
- 1:31:19Speaker 4: Pull a couple threads, And I mean, and I hate
- 1:31:21Speaker 4: doing the aj Brownie kill Harry Deebo Samuel that thing,
- 1:31:24Speaker 4: but like it's it's not hard to see a couple
- 1:31:27Speaker 4: changes that Brady would have probably overcome, like he.
- 1:31:30Speaker 5: Usually did, not to do the whole right, not to
- 1:31:32Speaker 5: do the whole a J Brown, Deebo Samuel thing.
- 1:31:34Speaker 3: Again.
- 1:31:34Speaker 5: But just if you had given him a player of
- 1:31:37Speaker 5: that caliber towards the end, then they they would have
- 1:31:40Speaker 5: been right where they were in twenty eighteen.
- 1:31:42Speaker 7: They would know they were searching for it too. You know,
- 1:31:44Speaker 7: they drafted Harry. They wasn't one of those years that
- 1:31:48Speaker 7: they traded for SNeW same year, I think twenty nineteen,
- 1:31:52Speaker 7: you know, so like they were looking for it, they
- 1:31:53Speaker 7: needed it, but they couldn't figure it out.
- 1:31:55Speaker 6: I would also say it's just some of the like
- 1:31:57Speaker 6: Josh McDaniels leaves Mac joneses having an yere and then
- 1:32:00Speaker 6: you get Matt Patricia and then you draft Col Strange. Well,
- 1:32:03Speaker 6: it's like what if you took the receiver and you know,
- 1:32:06Speaker 6: took a different offensive coordinators?
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: Always what if there's a lot.
- 1:32:09Speaker 7: Of a lot of those.
- 1:32:10Speaker 5: I think that, to me is the biggest thing with
- 1:32:13Speaker 5: him that maybe supersed some of the personnel like decisions actually,
- 1:32:19Speaker 5: and why when people talk about that, you know, we
- 1:32:21Speaker 5: were talking about earlier that you know, Paul Things said,
- 1:32:23Speaker 5: losing Bill on defense is going to be a big
- 1:32:25Speaker 5: thing personally watching his team over the last couple of years.
- 1:32:29Speaker 5: I don't think that they were particularly well coached, So.
- 1:32:33Speaker 3: I think they were on defense, not in any other aspect.
- 1:32:38Speaker 5: Every other element they might have been on defense, they were,
- 1:32:40Speaker 5: I agree with that, But you know, you still at
- 1:32:42Speaker 5: least have two guys, well three four, you know, the
- 1:32:46Speaker 5: guys that are were on that staff that are going
- 1:32:48Speaker 5: to continue to be on this staff. So when you
- 1:32:51Speaker 5: look at a lot of the things, to me, and
- 1:32:53Speaker 5: I think the emailers said it, you're losing those assistants.
- 1:32:55Speaker 5: Scarnekia Ernie Adams Ivean fears like it wasn't just that
- 1:32:59Speaker 5: they didn't those guys. I just think that the attention
- 1:33:03Speaker 5: to detail left the building because he didn't have the
- 1:33:07Speaker 5: lieutenants to go out and drive through the message.
- 1:33:10Speaker 7: I think his the email I think touched on a
- 1:33:12Speaker 7: very big part of it. And I think that ego
- 1:33:15Speaker 7: was part of it yea, And he needed to do
- 1:33:18Speaker 7: more in his later years when he should have been
- 1:33:22Speaker 7: the other way around. When you get up to seventy
- 1:33:26Speaker 7: you're not looking to do more ideally, and I think
- 1:33:29Speaker 7: he was, and I think that's part of the problem.
- 1:33:32Speaker 2: And just the sharpness I was gonna say, too stubborn
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: to realize how much the game has changed and how
- 1:33:37Speaker 2: much you really can't operate the way you previously did
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: things before. So sure you can get your defense to
- 1:33:42Speaker 2: hold the other opposing team's offense to x amount of points,
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: but you also still have to make sure your offense
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: has a pulse. So him thinking, oh, Matt, Patricia can
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: do this, like offense doesn't need a lot of help,
- 1:33:54Speaker 2: Like anyone could just coach offense like No.
- 1:33:58Speaker 6: Four.
- 1:33:59Speaker 7: That's one thing I think if you you know, sat
- 1:34:02Speaker 7: him down and he was being truthful, I think he
- 1:34:05Speaker 7: would admit I underestimated the role of the offensive coordinator
- 1:34:10Speaker 7: in general and just how difficult that can be. I
- 1:34:13Speaker 7: think he felt he's Patricia's a good football coach, you.
- 1:34:16Speaker 2: Know we can do this, And especially listening to Damian
- 1:34:19Speaker 2: Harris's interview from a couple of weeks ago where he's
- 1:34:22Speaker 2: talking about how like the whole locker room knew it
- 1:34:24Speaker 2: wasn't working, and they were like, how do we go
- 1:34:26Speaker 2: tell Bill this is not going to work?
- 1:34:28Speaker 3: And he didn't want to hear it.
- 1:34:29Speaker 5: And that's part of the problem too. To me, was
- 1:34:31Speaker 5: like that locker room and we've talked about this before,
- 1:34:35Speaker 5: none of those guys bought in, even in the spring
- 1:34:38Speaker 5: to what they were trying to.
- 1:34:39Speaker 7: Do the first year.
- 1:34:40Speaker 3: Yeah, my big problem with mac Jones.
- 1:34:42Speaker 5: Yet none of them actually bought into it, and that's
- 1:34:46Speaker 5: we might disagree in terms of I think they were
- 1:34:48Speaker 5: totally warranted not to buy into it, but they never did.
- 1:34:52Speaker 5: And then last year Adrian Clem miss you know, he
- 1:34:57Speaker 5: everybody says he had the real medical things. I'm not
- 1:34:59Speaker 5: trying to play but the holy adream Clem thing was
- 1:35:02Speaker 5: an abject disaster really from the start. It wasn't just
- 1:35:06Speaker 5: that he you know, had to tap out halfway through
- 1:35:09Speaker 5: the season. It wasn't good to begin with, and there
- 1:35:12Speaker 5: was a lot of hostility and just inner turmoil about
- 1:35:16Speaker 5: it to begin with. And at the end of the season,
- 1:35:18Speaker 5: from what everybody has said, it was basically Bill O'Brien
- 1:35:23Speaker 5: and Will Laing coaching the entire offense. And they would
- 1:35:27Speaker 5: have meetings where Bill O'Brien was coaching every position group,
- 1:35:31Speaker 5: like they wouldn't even go break off into you know,
- 1:35:34Speaker 5: offensive line in this room, you know whatever, because he
- 1:35:36Speaker 5: just couldn't trust any of the people that were around
- 1:35:40Speaker 5: him to coaching correctly. So they're coaching as a whole.
- 1:35:44Speaker 5: Bill included I think in a lot of ways just
- 1:35:47Speaker 5: took such a big step back that they weren't going
- 1:35:50Speaker 5: to win on the margins with that type of coaching.
- 1:35:53Speaker 5: And I feel like, you know, is that ego Maybe
- 1:35:56Speaker 5: like it was partially ego, but a lot of it
- 1:35:59Speaker 5: was just said guys aged out and a lot of
- 1:36:01Speaker 5: the coach.
- 1:36:03Speaker 4: They couldn't have brought in. You know, there's no replacing
- 1:36:06Speaker 4: Dante Scarnakia. I'vean fears all those guys, But were there more,
- 1:36:09Speaker 4: you know, guys almost like Michael Lombardi's a bad example,
- 1:36:13Speaker 4: Floyd Reese is maybe a better one of just other
- 1:36:15Speaker 4: experienced NFL people that he could have brought in that
- 1:36:19Speaker 4: he could trust, that would.
- 1:36:21Speaker 3: Have insulated some of those losses.
- 1:36:23Speaker 4: Because by the end, like you said, it was, it
- 1:36:25Speaker 4: was just like Bill and a couple guys trying to
- 1:36:27Speaker 4: string it all together. And you know, maybe I understand
- 1:36:30Speaker 4: that maybe he didn't want young coaches that he has to,
- 1:36:32Speaker 4: you know, get through his whole system. But were there
- 1:36:35Speaker 4: some more veteran guys that he could have, you know,
- 1:36:37Speaker 4: a guy behind Josh McDaniels that he could have trusted,
- 1:36:40Speaker 4: that he could have then handed the keys to the
- 1:36:43Speaker 4: offense over to it just seemed like he didn't really
- 1:36:47Speaker 4: put a plan into place to have guys ready to
- 1:36:50Speaker 4: replace the coaches, to replace the players. It just kind
- 1:36:52Speaker 4: of fell apart from It was like the floor fell
- 1:36:54Speaker 4: out from under them, and they didn't really have any answer, so.
- 1:36:57Speaker 5: Especially once Josh took all the assistance with him to Vage.
- 1:37:00Speaker 5: And I don't fall built necessarily for that because he
- 1:37:03Speaker 5: can't control that completely. But their line play with Carmon
- 1:37:06Speaker 5: Brisillo was solid in twenty twenty one. It wasn't an
- 1:37:10Speaker 5: elite offensive line or anything like that, but they were
- 1:37:13Speaker 5: an above average offensive line that year. And he is
- 1:37:17Speaker 5: a decent line coach, and then you lose him.
- 1:37:19Speaker 7: At the end. They lost the replacements to the replacement,
- 1:37:22Speaker 7: yeah right, you.
- 1:37:23Speaker 5: Know yeah, And they didn't want to promote Nick Kayley,
- 1:37:25Speaker 5: like they still were being stubborn about that, and they
- 1:37:27Speaker 5: didn't think he was ready to take on a bigger role,
- 1:37:30Speaker 5: so they end up losing him to the Rams, and
- 1:37:33Speaker 5: you know, it just that's what happened. But I don't
- 1:37:37Speaker 5: lose sight of the fact of how much that hurt.
- 1:37:40Speaker 5: When Josh took half of the offensive assistance with him
- 1:37:43Speaker 5: to Vegas and the line coach being the biggest one,
- 1:37:47Speaker 5: and that's a big blow.
- 1:37:49Speaker 4: The thing I'm having trouble connecting, though, and it should
- 1:37:51Speaker 4: be an easy connection I feel like to make is
- 1:37:53Speaker 4: the you know, criticism of the coaching staff and the lack.
- 1:37:57Speaker 3: Of development of drafted players.
- 1:37:59Speaker 4: And I think when my instinct when I look at
- 1:38:01Speaker 4: a lot of the drafted players was not to really
- 1:38:04Speaker 4: you know, blame coaching staff that they didn't develop those players.
- 1:38:07Speaker 4: I don't think any of those players really had it
- 1:38:09Speaker 4: from the get go, and I don't think they could
- 1:38:11Speaker 4: have gotten it, you know, but I think some people
- 1:38:13Speaker 4: could draw that comparison. We'll no, he drafted good players, like,
- 1:38:16Speaker 4: but the coaching staff was ultimately the bigger problem that
- 1:38:18Speaker 4: couldn't develop those guys. I don't really see that though.
- 1:38:21Speaker 4: I see the players as just picking the wrong players.
- 1:38:23Speaker 2: Yeah, because it's like Cold Strange, there's no way. Yeah,
- 1:38:27Speaker 2: like if you would have drafted Cold Strange in the
- 1:38:29Speaker 2: sixth round and he just didn't work out, okay, but
- 1:38:32Speaker 2: that high of a pick when Mac needed help.
- 1:38:34Speaker 3: It's crazy.
- 1:38:34Speaker 4: That's and that's a good example of things that like,
- 1:38:37Speaker 4: especially at that point, because I feel like you got
- 1:38:39Speaker 4: through twenty twenty one, you felt like you made the
- 1:38:41Speaker 4: playoffs with Mac you have a quarterback, like great, if
- 1:38:45Speaker 4: the pieces are starting to come into place, now you
- 1:38:46Speaker 4: got to really, you know, reins insulate all those picks
- 1:38:49Speaker 4: that you just made. And it was kind of exactly
- 1:38:51Speaker 4: what they didn't do, and even into last year's draft
- 1:38:53Speaker 4: where they didn't really insulate the offense at all and
- 1:38:56Speaker 4: then it was all defensive folks. But I think one
- 1:38:58Speaker 4: thing I'd like to know, and I Damien Harris was
- 1:39:00Speaker 4: great kind of giving you a look behind the scenes,
- 1:39:02Speaker 4: But it's just that question I mentioned at the top
- 1:39:04Speaker 4: of why did it get worse last year? And you
- 1:39:06Speaker 4: mentioned the coaching staff was overwhelmed, but at least they
- 1:39:09Speaker 4: had a system that they knew what they wanted to do,
- 1:39:11Speaker 4: and you know, maybe it was harder for them to
- 1:39:13Speaker 4: implement it without a full staff. But at the same time,
- 1:39:17Speaker 4: it's just so interesting to me that like a good
- 1:39:19Speaker 4: system with a with a coaching like with a limited
- 1:39:22Speaker 4: coaching staff can be worse than a coaching staff that's
- 1:39:26Speaker 4: like has the guys but don't really know what they're doing.
- 1:39:28Speaker 5: I think the worse last year.
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: Yeah, And I was going to say, I think the
- 1:39:31Speaker 2: trust there was no trust in that locker room still, like,
- 1:39:35Speaker 2: why would I trust you just because you just I
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: think Evan always says this, what's the pig thing that
- 1:39:40Speaker 2: you say with the pig and the clothes lipstick, Yes,
- 1:39:43Speaker 2: with pig and makeup, like that's what I feel like.
- 1:39:48Speaker 2: Put lipstick on a pig. That's all they did last
- 1:39:51Speaker 2: and still a pick.
- 1:39:52Speaker 7: I mean, it's a very simplistic thing. But Evan's right,
- 1:39:54Speaker 7: the roster wasn't even if you just want to look
- 1:39:57Speaker 7: like you took a guy who had whatever eighty catches,
- 1:40:00Speaker 7: you got rid of him, and you replaced him with
- 1:40:01Speaker 7: Jujus Smith Schuster who was nothing resembling him. So your
- 1:40:07Speaker 7: offensive drop could be just related to that, you know,
- 1:40:11Speaker 7: I would I mean, I think there's a lot of nuance.
- 1:40:14Speaker 7: Evan talked a lot on Tuesday about Ramondre Stevenson's numbers
- 1:40:18Speaker 7: in twenty two, when he averaged five yards to carry
- 1:40:20Speaker 7: an x amount after contact sixty nine catches like three
- 1:40:25Speaker 7: hundred and twenty whatever touches. It stands to reason your
- 1:40:28Speaker 7: production's gonna suffer the next year. You had an immense
- 1:40:32Speaker 7: amount of workload. Most of what you got was after contact.
- 1:40:37Speaker 7: That takes a toll. So the following year, your numbers dropped.
- 1:40:41Speaker 7: He wasn't I mean, he wasn't as good. He was
- 1:40:43Speaker 7: better in that week six to twelve range before he
- 1:40:47Speaker 7: got hurt. Yeah, but he was never as good as
- 1:40:49Speaker 7: he was in twenty twenty two. Last year just didn't
- 1:40:52Speaker 7: look like he just didn't have the same burst like
- 1:40:54Speaker 7: this didn't look like And that's not even talking about
- 1:40:56Speaker 7: the quarterback who played far worse last year than he
- 1:40:59Speaker 7: even did they before.
- 1:41:00Speaker 2: And I feel like it all starts with him.
- 1:41:02Speaker 8: It all starts with a quarterback, Like, yeah, the attitude,
- 1:41:05Speaker 8: the whole I mean, the complexion of the team is
- 1:41:06Speaker 8: really and that I think is where you're in between
- 1:41:08Speaker 8: right now, where it's you've got Drake May waiting, but
- 1:41:10Speaker 8: you're cond of Jacoby Brissett's team right now, and that's
- 1:41:13Speaker 8: it's a little weird.
- 1:41:14Speaker 6: I also want to go back to twenty twenty one
- 1:41:15Speaker 6: when we did the all this free agent spending, but
- 1:41:18Speaker 6: we didn't get I mean, it's tide from Dreudun and
- 1:41:20Speaker 6: Henry like Nelson Aguilar is on his third team or
- 1:41:22Speaker 6: second team now since us like it just it's hard
- 1:41:25Speaker 6: way to some of the like j C. Jackson when
- 1:41:27Speaker 6: he was due for a contract, like that was the
- 1:41:29Speaker 6: market value for a corner and we didn't want to
- 1:41:31Speaker 6: pay it, and then we got torched by every single
- 1:41:33Speaker 6: number one receiver the next year. So it's a couple
- 1:41:35Speaker 6: of interesting decisions.
- 1:41:37Speaker 4: Yeah, Speed writes in a couple off off the beats
- 1:41:39Speaker 4: path questions that I like, if the real world versions
- 1:41:44Speaker 4: of the of two NFL mascots went head to head
- 1:41:47Speaker 4: in a battle to the death, which matchup would be
- 1:41:50Speaker 4: the most entertaining. I was like kicking these around my
- 1:41:53Speaker 4: head of like, well, you'd have like one big like
- 1:41:55Speaker 4: a bird fight, like like a seahawk, a falcon.
- 1:42:00Speaker 2: Definitely going ram.
- 1:42:02Speaker 5: Does Pat have a gun?
- 1:42:03Speaker 3: Because like, yeah, musket a musket.
- 1:42:07Speaker 7: It takes a long time.
- 1:42:09Speaker 2: The American spirits a Ram versus a bill versus.
- 1:42:13Speaker 3: Buffalo bears about the Bears, I.
- 1:42:16Speaker 5: Think that the horns of the say, the Viking, what's that?
- 1:42:20Speaker 7: What's the Vikings mascot.
- 1:42:23Speaker 6: Pat has a gun and the Viking has an X Pat?
- 1:42:27Speaker 7: I don't know that takes forever. I mean, you gotta
- 1:42:29Speaker 7: shot Viking against the buccaneers.
- 1:42:33Speaker 3: Pirates? What about the buccaneer versus the raider?
- 1:42:35Speaker 7: You're in stuff about the Vikings like that. Those people are.
- 1:42:39Speaker 4: It's the bird fight of just like the falcon of Seahawks,
- 1:42:42Speaker 4: you know, Cardinal and Eagle.
- 1:42:43Speaker 3: They're all I hate.
- 1:42:45Speaker 7: You had the jet come in and rash land there.
- 1:42:48Speaker 3: There you go, jet. That's that's some fun. Uh.
- 1:42:51Speaker 7: You can just go swim with the dolphins and get molested.
- 1:42:56Speaker 3: It's true.
- 1:42:56Speaker 9: It's true.
- 1:42:57Speaker 4: Cowboys, dolphins, Dolphins are terrible people. On the subject to
- 1:43:01Speaker 4: home repair projects, what do you consider your greatest success
- 1:43:04Speaker 4: and what has been.
- 1:43:05Speaker 7: Your biggest failure home repair project?
- 1:43:08Speaker 6: This question my bathroom. I haven't renovated for five years.
- 1:43:12Speaker 3: That's your biggest failure.
- 1:43:13Speaker 6: Yeah, I just haven't done it yet.
- 1:43:15Speaker 5: I can't say I've done much like furniture is not.
- 1:43:19Speaker 3: Right, not not a home.
- 1:43:20Speaker 4: But was super proud when I replaced my own car
- 1:43:22Speaker 4: stereo like I I had, like my car stereo broke
- 1:43:26Speaker 4: and they wanted like they wanted like two grand to
- 1:43:28Speaker 4: like rewire it, and I just went on eBay and
- 1:43:31Speaker 4: bought like an aftermarket an aftermarket exact copy of what
- 1:43:34Speaker 4: the car came with, took the front out, took it out,
- 1:43:38Speaker 4: put it like I'm very.
- 1:43:39Speaker 3: Proud of myself, very proud of myself.
- 1:43:42Speaker 7: Most of the projects I did in my house were
- 1:43:44Speaker 7: not done by me.
- 1:43:45Speaker 6: Yeah, you gotta call somebody my garbage.
- 1:43:47Speaker 7: My brother in law, you know, was a contractor at
- 1:43:50Speaker 7: the time, so he did all, like almost everything. Maybe
- 1:43:53Speaker 7: I redid the whole fireplace.
- 1:43:55Speaker 6: I did that.
- 1:43:55Speaker 7: Myself, painted it, knocked off a couple of the bricks
- 1:43:59Speaker 7: that are sticking out, shaved those down, So I did.
- 1:44:03Speaker 2: I feel like that's a good question for Fred.
- 1:44:05Speaker 4: He's probably yeah, he'd probably shame us all with like
- 1:44:08Speaker 4: some level of like dug a pool or something.
- 1:44:11Speaker 5: If you're gonna do the d y I project. He
- 1:44:15Speaker 5: has a million tools of this is the brand.
- 1:44:17Speaker 3: That right he got away to speak, queen, I replaced it.
- 1:44:23Speaker 3: Most of those have never been used. There's nothing better
- 1:44:26Speaker 3: than a morel dropped than when you think the person
- 1:44:28Speaker 3: might actually be in the room, like he does it
- 1:44:30Speaker 3: with Tamaris, something like oh my god, like I think
- 1:44:32Speaker 3: like I think she said. I replaced the tail that
- 1:44:35Speaker 3: was that was when I was a tail light, like
- 1:44:37Speaker 3: went in, took the light, the casing out, did the screen.
- 1:44:40Speaker 7: I've replaced tires before I did a.
- 1:44:43Speaker 6: Time I could do that, even a triple triple a
- 1:44:45Speaker 6: all the way for a tire.
- 1:44:48Speaker 4: My biggest failure though, I got side swayed, had some
- 1:44:51Speaker 4: like scratches and dents on the side of my car,
- 1:44:53Speaker 4: and like I couldn't for the life of me, like
- 1:44:55Speaker 4: you know, they have all these different products that are
- 1:44:56Speaker 4: like buff just buff it out, or you know, just
- 1:44:58Speaker 4: get this touch up, pain it, like you know, when
- 1:45:00Speaker 4: I get the right color and everything, and you spend
- 1:45:03Speaker 4: all this time.
- 1:45:03Speaker 7: My catalytic converter project.
- 1:45:05Speaker 3: Was is that thing still on the fritz? Because freaks
- 1:45:08Speaker 3: the car loud?
- 1:45:08Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:45:09Speaker 3: Does it make the car louder?
- 1:45:11Speaker 6: What is that?
- 1:45:12Speaker 4: My car right now is kind of growling a little bit.
- 1:45:14Speaker 4: It's getting old, and I feel like I might need
- 1:45:16Speaker 4: a new one. But it's just a little louder.
- 1:45:17Speaker 3: And I'm like one.
- 1:45:18Speaker 7: Side from the rejection sticker my car runs.
- 1:45:21Speaker 4: It gets There's no greater dramatic story in the history
- 1:45:25Speaker 4: of storytelling them Paul versus the inspection sticker.
- 1:45:29Speaker 7: Might have to say. My service engine gopped off for
- 1:45:32Speaker 7: five minutes. So I just laughed over like literally, my
- 1:45:35Speaker 7: agine light was on for like three months and there
- 1:45:38Speaker 7: was like five days left in the month, and I
- 1:45:40Speaker 7: was like, oh man, what am I gonna do and
- 1:45:43Speaker 7: finally it went off.
- 1:45:44Speaker 9: I went right to the list.
- 1:45:48Speaker 3: The iron's hot.
- 1:45:49Speaker 7: See.
- 1:45:50Speaker 2: I tried to get an inspection this morning and the
- 1:45:52Speaker 2: inspector was out for the day, so I have to
- 1:45:54Speaker 2: go try again tomorrow.
- 1:45:56Speaker 3: I got to come in out and I know I
- 1:45:57Speaker 3: got to get new tires, but that's my fault.
- 1:45:58Speaker 2: For waiting until the last days of June.
- 1:46:01Speaker 5: As a son of someone in the car business, I
- 1:46:04Speaker 5: know I'm might have to talk to mister Lazarre. Hearing
- 1:46:06Speaker 5: these stories makes me cringe.
- 1:46:08Speaker 4: Like if I'll having to deal with car problems and
- 1:46:11Speaker 4: like just because you just got a new one when
- 1:46:12Speaker 4: you need it, Dad, I don't need a new car
- 1:46:16Speaker 4: it is I didn't have to No, my well, mine's coming.
- 1:46:19Speaker 4: I mean it's ten years. I know I need new
- 1:46:20Speaker 4: tires and I should probably get some. Bridgestone, the official
- 1:46:23Speaker 4: tire of the New England Patriots, is proud to partner
- 1:46:26Speaker 4: with Sullivan Tire, New England's headquarters for quality Bridgestone tires.
- 1:46:29Speaker 4: I'm gonna have to visit Sullivantire dot com and find
- 1:46:32Speaker 4: in a location near me. But I'm all worried because
- 1:46:34Speaker 4: it's like my car is about coming up on ten
- 1:46:36Speaker 4: years or so. So it's like and I own it.
- 1:46:37Speaker 4: It's coming to the point and I want to get
- 1:46:39Speaker 4: like that, like check it out.
- 1:46:40Speaker 3: Is it worth it?
- 1:46:41Speaker 4: Or am I gonna put like what twelve hundred bucks
- 1:46:43Speaker 4: to put four new tires on this thing? And then
- 1:46:45Speaker 4: they're gonna tell me, oh, you need two grand for
- 1:46:47Speaker 4: the converter or.
- 1:46:48Speaker 3: Something like that.
- 1:46:48Speaker 2: Not worth it And you have to go to Toyota
- 1:46:50Speaker 2: obviously to get your new car.
- 1:46:52Speaker 3: This is making me just get rid of it. I'll
- 1:46:55Speaker 3: give you MYU is getting the Bronco. Now, this would
- 1:46:58Speaker 3: be like me when I could afford it, I would
- 1:46:59Speaker 3: I would need your father.
- 1:47:01Speaker 4: It was like me and high schoolhen kids were talking
- 1:47:02Speaker 4: about having to buy sneakers and I was like, just
- 1:47:03Speaker 4: have your dad get you some rebox.
- 1:47:05Speaker 7: What your dad doesn't work for rebounk go get I
- 1:47:07Speaker 7: haven't paid.
- 1:47:07Speaker 5: I haven't paid for an inspection sticker in fifteen years
- 1:47:10Speaker 5: at driving, so I I know.
- 1:47:16Speaker 4: I'm just put it on a computer and it doesn't pass.
- 1:47:21Speaker 4: I'm just telling you, can he get past that because
- 1:47:23Speaker 4: you can drive it.
- 1:47:24Speaker 3: Your father po, yeah, might be able to you found
- 1:47:26Speaker 3: your guy.
- 1:47:27Speaker 7: I finally got a guy. I've been telling you. You
- 1:47:29Speaker 7: have a guy for two years and.
- 1:47:31Speaker 3: I've been telling me I could get by without an inspection.
- 1:47:33Speaker 5: My my first jeep, I had a green Jeep Cherokee,
- 1:47:38Speaker 5: was like a two thousand, had like two hundred thousand
- 1:47:40Speaker 5: miles on it. My dad got it from a friend
- 1:47:43Speaker 5: of his and own a jeep dealership and just just
- 1:47:46Speaker 5: need him driving right, like I didn't go anywhere, just
- 1:47:49Speaker 5: to school or practice or whatever, and uh it had
- 1:47:52Speaker 5: no business passing inspection none. And my dad took him
- 1:47:55Speaker 5: to one of his customers and just was like, wink wink,
- 1:47:58Speaker 5: nod nod situation.
- 1:48:00Speaker 7: How long that's a long time ago.
- 1:48:05Speaker 4: I think they because I had a guy like that,
- 1:48:07Speaker 4: and I think that they sort of cracked down, got pinched.
- 1:48:11Speaker 3: Keep the heat on, we'll all get pinched. How many
- 1:48:13Speaker 3: miles you got on that car now?
- 1:48:15Speaker 7: And forty thousand?
- 1:48:16Speaker 3: In fact that it still turns on the present, it's
- 1:48:18Speaker 3: a limited PbD you'll get you.
- 1:48:20Speaker 5: I used to the ignition, used to jam yeah, and
- 1:48:23Speaker 5: like to push the button the key the key wouldn't turn.
- 1:48:26Speaker 3: That was like a kitten.
- 1:48:28Speaker 4: A little game here from Kyle and Pembroke, Keep Trade
- 1:48:31Speaker 4: cut Cape Trade Cake ice.
- 1:48:34Speaker 6: Cream cookies, cutting cake, cookies. I'm cutting cake too, cutting cake. Yeah,
- 1:48:39Speaker 6: I'm keeping cookies cookies.
- 1:48:41Speaker 4: I'm gonna trade cookies, and I'm gonna keep ice cream,
- 1:48:44Speaker 4: keep ice cream because you can put some cookies in
- 1:48:46Speaker 4: your ice cream.
- 1:48:46Speaker 6: To the exact Evan has ice cream fight for Mike
- 1:48:50Speaker 6: and I have worked for the Patriots and.
- 1:48:52Speaker 9: Everybody else what we do.
- 1:48:55Speaker 2: But I'm actually surprised you did, because you guys love
- 1:48:57Speaker 2: the cookies on game.
- 1:48:59Speaker 3: Well, they are a little much.
- 1:49:01Speaker 7: I do love that you love me some chocolate. I
- 1:49:05Speaker 7: can't believe you got But I like ice cream better.
- 1:49:07Speaker 6: Cakes gotta go.
- 1:49:08Speaker 5: I do like ice cream.
- 1:49:09Speaker 6: I like cake too, but I like ice cream cake.
- 1:49:11Speaker 7: That would be a distant I think.
- 1:49:12Speaker 4: There's too much variables in cake because I I don't
- 1:49:14Speaker 4: like all cakes, especially if there's like fruit and cookie crumble,
- 1:49:18Speaker 4: ice cream cake boom done the people.
- 1:49:20Speaker 2: That what about an ice cream cakell.
- 1:49:23Speaker 3: Yeah, every birthday that's mostly ice cream, though, I'm going.
- 1:49:35Speaker 7: I have like those Oreo cookies sprinkled in the middle
- 1:49:38Speaker 7: of the ice cream cakes. Fruit like jam in your cake.
- 1:49:44Speaker 3: Get out, Get out. That's why I cut cake. That's
- 1:49:46Speaker 3: why I cut cake. I don't want it's.
- 1:49:48Speaker 7: Terrible though, it's tremendous, but it doesn't belong on a cake.
- 1:49:51Speaker 3: No no, no, no no no.
- 1:49:52Speaker 2: I I like fruit unless it's cake and the strawberries.
- 1:49:57Speaker 3: I'll deal with that, but I'd rather do an Oreo
- 1:49:59Speaker 3: cheese cake. For talking to us. Such a good point,
- 1:50:02Speaker 3: Boston tourist spots.
- 1:50:04Speaker 4: Uh got to put our put our younger days hats
- 1:50:06Speaker 4: on a Museum of Science, aquarium and the Freedom Trail tomorrow.
- 1:50:09Speaker 3: How many of these have you actually done? Any? Non
- 1:50:11Speaker 3: zero zip, zilch.
- 1:50:12Speaker 5: You can take the Freedom Trail?
- 1:50:14Speaker 7: Yeah, and what's what's like even worse than like cut?
- 1:50:17Speaker 13: Like?
- 1:50:17Speaker 3: You can take that and you can live a freedom trail.
- 1:50:22Speaker 7: But I would I'd be more than willing to get
- 1:50:24Speaker 7: rid of the museum and the Freedom Trail.
- 1:50:26Speaker 3: Keep. I think I get rid of the aquarium like
- 1:50:30Speaker 3: fish fact and it's always really humid.
- 1:50:34Speaker 7: Well, we've got a fun fact.
- 1:50:36Speaker 6: I was on the brochure of the aquarium for ten years,
- 1:50:38Speaker 6: really ten years. I can't walk, I can find them, sure,
- 1:50:44Speaker 6: my grandmother, it was me like pointing to the penguin
- 1:50:47Speaker 6: or something.
- 1:50:48Speaker 7: Did you see what is it makes an ocean way where?
- 1:50:52Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the old commercial right, I don't know. I
- 1:50:54Speaker 4: always like the Museum of Science. It's an old commercial
- 1:50:58Speaker 4: for the aquarium.
- 1:50:59Speaker 5: US Science is a good spot, but the aquarium is
- 1:51:03Speaker 5: in such a better location in the city, so that
- 1:51:06Speaker 5: like under, once you get the Aquarium out of the way,
- 1:51:09Speaker 5: then you go to Faniel Hall, you can walk around like.
- 1:51:11Speaker 5: It's just a much better area in the cities.
- 1:51:13Speaker 6: I like the Omni Theater too, at the at the
- 1:51:15Speaker 6: apparently you were able to see dune there. They had
- 1:51:18Speaker 6: dune there too too, too, the good one too.
- 1:51:21Speaker 4: I'm gonna I, frankly, I think I want to skip
- 1:51:23Speaker 4: this young reporter's keep trade cut.
- 1:51:25Speaker 3: It's probably gonna hit a little too close for home.
- 1:51:26Speaker 4: Evan might have to recuse himself from Bars Catholic and
- 1:51:30Speaker 4: Kyles of.
- 1:51:32Speaker 7: I can't, I can't, I can't choose Bar Catholic Kyles.
- 1:51:37Speaker 3: Cut them off right in that. No, we love those
- 1:51:42Speaker 3: guys I love.
- 1:51:43Speaker 7: I don't really know, well, I know, I don't really
- 1:51:46Speaker 7: know Kyle's at all. No, I don't know.
- 1:51:48Speaker 4: I don't think it's sweetheart at the sweet guy, sweet
- 1:51:51Speaker 4: kid Alex obviously I know from his Catch twenty two.
- 1:51:54Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, and that a little like his personality off
- 1:51:58Speaker 5: the year is exactly.
- 1:51:59Speaker 7: Yeah, so I might have to flip flop cad licking.
- 1:52:02Speaker 2: Also, I would just like to say, micing up Barth
- 1:52:06Speaker 2: and Evan during a practice be so good.
- 1:52:09Speaker 7: No, because we say stuff that we can't say on here.
- 1:52:11Speaker 7: Well you would censor yourself.
- 1:52:13Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:52:13Speaker 5: No, not talking about swears. I'm talking about like.
- 1:52:17Speaker 2: I mean, but just like when you make up a coach,
- 1:52:20Speaker 2: there's some editing.
- 1:52:21Speaker 7: Uh. I.
- 1:52:23Speaker 5: Barth was at Zach Bryant here last night and country
- 1:52:27Speaker 5: concert and my kids were here.
- 1:52:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I loved it.
- 1:52:29Speaker 5: He's texting me during the tailgate because uh he got
- 1:52:34Speaker 5: into Lot five and a lot of the players came
- 1:52:37Speaker 5: to the concert and I'm like, can you stop stalking
- 1:52:40Speaker 5: the players?
- 1:52:40Speaker 9: Dude?
- 1:52:41Speaker 5: Like He's like, I'm not gonna say who, but I
- 1:52:44Speaker 5: was like, oh someone so is here now.
- 1:52:46Speaker 7: I'm like, you know, like we're back talking about the
- 1:52:48Speaker 7: Phil Perry thing, like you know, the the thoughts inside
- 1:52:51Speaker 7: the building. Yeah, And I always laugh at that because like,
- 1:52:53Speaker 7: I'm excited.
- 1:52:54Speaker 6: Every day.
- 1:52:58Speaker 3: Whatever the David the tea up on the race.
- 1:53:00Speaker 4: Sometimes they're like, so what can you tell us about? Like,
- 1:53:03Speaker 4: but I'm like, they don't let us in football. They
- 1:53:04Speaker 4: don't really talk to us, like, you know what.
- 1:53:06Speaker 7: They refer to me as a high ranking member of
- 1:53:09Speaker 7: the organization, which nothing could be further from that calls
- 1:53:12Speaker 7: people get it, but like when I do. I texted,
- 1:53:15Speaker 7: if a producer asked me to be on the show,
- 1:53:17Speaker 7: I'm more than happy to you. I love doing it.
- 1:53:19Speaker 5: But I always text them back and I'm like, FYI,
- 1:53:21Speaker 5: I don't have any inside information, like don't like comet.
- 1:53:25Speaker 3: Like what can you tell us? Yeah?
- 1:53:26Speaker 5: Right, hearing and uh, you know, it was like when
- 1:53:28Speaker 5: the Brady stuff was going on and people just wanted
- 1:53:31Speaker 5: to have me on just to spill the beans about
- 1:53:33Speaker 5: what we were doing for the Brady thing. And I
- 1:53:36Speaker 5: was like, if that's why you want to have me on,
- 1:53:37Speaker 5: don't have me on because I don't know anything. And
- 1:53:40Speaker 5: I'm being sincere like I really don't know anything.
- 1:53:43Speaker 4: So well, Levin, Uh, I'm not going to read this
- 1:53:46Speaker 4: whole email from Danny, but he just said Van is correct.
- 1:53:50Speaker 3: A job about what the title is. Pam Beasley sucks ass.
- 1:53:54Speaker 5: I was gonna say, I'm correct a lot of things,
- 1:53:56Speaker 5: so I don't know anything.
- 1:53:57Speaker 4: Pam is by far one of the worst characters in television.
- 1:53:59Speaker 4: Let's go over her a holary and he's got a
- 1:54:03Speaker 4: point by point. There's ten of them, and it's quite lengthy.
- 1:54:06Speaker 4: It's quite lengthy. I'm not going to read the whole thing, Evan,
- 1:54:08Speaker 4: but if you want to go in and but he
- 1:54:09Speaker 4: wanted to back you up on that. Meanwhile, James Pettigrew,
- 1:54:14Speaker 4: who I think I'm contractually obligated to call the most
- 1:54:16Speaker 4: interesting Patriots.
- 1:54:17Speaker 3: Fan in the world.
- 1:54:17Speaker 7: Is that correct?
- 1:54:19Speaker 4: Eric will be the Elaine. Can you imagine Eric deciding
- 1:54:21Speaker 4: who's sponge worthy. That's a deep dive there from James
- 1:54:30Speaker 4: oh Man that came out on owhere. We got another
- 1:54:34Speaker 4: one though, from realistic from James. Would I be a
- 1:54:37Speaker 4: bad owner if I think the best thing for this
- 1:54:39Speaker 4: team will be a high first and second round pick
- 1:54:40Speaker 4: next year. I think having another down year, not tanking,
- 1:54:43Speaker 4: we better serve the team over the next five years
- 1:54:45Speaker 4: than getting five more wins this season.
- 1:54:47Speaker 7: You guys think I can make an argument both sides
- 1:54:51Speaker 7: like starting to have some success in winning games, especially
- 1:54:55Speaker 7: if Drake may is playing his value to that. They
- 1:54:58Speaker 7: do have a lot of young guys. This value to
- 1:55:00Speaker 7: experiencing some winning. But I understand what James's larger point.
- 1:55:03Speaker 3: Is, yeah, they need another study class of high draft ass.
- 1:55:07Speaker 5: Well, I think it depends on how they get to
- 1:55:11Speaker 5: nine or ten wins. I don't know exactly the number
- 1:55:14Speaker 5: for Houston last year, but we keep on using them
- 1:55:16Speaker 5: as the example. If they're the this year is Houston
- 1:55:19Speaker 5: Texans is people are gonna be mad about that.
- 1:55:21Speaker 7: Well, he's asking for five more wins, so I don't
- 1:55:24Speaker 7: think about that. I mean they won a playoff game.
- 1:55:27Speaker 2: But also the Texans didn't get like the star wide
- 1:55:30Speaker 2: receiver through the draft.
- 1:55:31Speaker 7: They got it through they got tanked, Tanked, del Nico
- 1:55:34Speaker 7: were both draft.
- 1:55:34Speaker 2: But no, I mean they got digs this year.
- 1:55:36Speaker 7: Well they got them this year.
- 1:55:37Speaker 5: But I'm talking about if they if the Patriots were
- 1:55:39Speaker 5: last year's Houston Texans team, if you're a Patriots fan,
- 1:55:42Speaker 5: oh I would.
- 1:55:42Speaker 7: Take I would take that to the Bankers as long
- 1:55:45Speaker 7: as May was playing. But yeah, I would absolutely run
- 1:55:48Speaker 7: with that. That would be a home run.
- 1:55:49Speaker 4: It's just hard to see this team being and just
- 1:55:52Speaker 4: to use two questions example like we're good at tackle
- 1:55:55Speaker 4: and edge, we're good, like hard to see that next year.
- 1:55:58Speaker 7: Like to James's point, like last year's let's go you
- 1:56:01Speaker 7: know they went four and thirteen, like they easily could
- 1:56:03Speaker 7: have won. We know the games, the Giants, the Colts,
- 1:56:06Speaker 7: the Chargers. In retrospect, they were better off not winning
- 1:56:10Speaker 7: those games because there would be no difference in the
- 1:56:13Speaker 7: way you envision that team if they had gone seven
- 1:56:17Speaker 7: and whatever that is ten math math is so hard.
- 1:56:22Speaker 7: Then they are at four and thirteen and it would
- 1:56:24Speaker 7: just knock you down. Who knows, maybe you fell out
- 1:56:26Speaker 7: of the spot where you could get any of those
- 1:56:28Speaker 7: quarter francks. So that's I think James's point.
- 1:56:31Speaker 3: But yeah, yeah, I hear it. If it's the.
- 1:56:33Speaker 7: Difference between a handful of wins and you're still not
- 1:56:37Speaker 7: making the playoffs, then I would probably take the draft, right.
- 1:56:40Speaker 7: If it's the Houston Texans thing, I'll take the Houston
- 1:56:43Speaker 7: Texans thing.
- 1:56:44Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:56:45Speaker 2: That would be interesting to see though, if like say
- 1:56:47Speaker 2: Jacobe starts the first four games and they're zern four
- 1:56:50Speaker 2: at that point, are you like, let's just continue down
- 1:56:53Speaker 2: this trajectory, or you're like, Okay, let's see what Drake
- 1:56:56Speaker 2: Mate does.
- 1:56:57Speaker 7: Or you just evans therey is what Strake May doing
- 1:57:01Speaker 7: on the practice field and the players saying, what are
- 1:57:03Speaker 7: we doing? Drake May is obviously better than Jacoby said,
- 1:57:06Speaker 7: why are we not playing?
- 1:57:07Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 1:57:08Speaker 7: And if that's the case, you got to play it.
- 1:57:10Speaker 4: One last question directed to me, But you guys can
- 1:57:12Speaker 4: chime in. I'm sure Evan might have a thought question produced,
- 1:57:15Speaker 4: but an all can chime in. See see my emails
- 1:57:17Speaker 4: are nice. They say they're like, oh, I just Evan.
- 1:57:19Speaker 4: I want Evans like they never say we want.
- 1:57:22Speaker 7: The only one that has a strong.
- 1:57:26Speaker 4: I'm an Anaheim Ducks fan and was wondering you have
- 1:57:28Speaker 4: seen their new uniforms for next season, any thoughts combining
- 1:57:32Speaker 4: the classic Ducks logo with the current color scheme.
- 1:57:34Speaker 3: So I went to orange.
- 1:57:35Speaker 4: I know, did you see these? They had the old duck?
- 1:57:37Speaker 4: I didn't see Hi as Greg the coach, Geez didn't
- 1:57:40Speaker 4: get fired.
- 1:57:40Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't know one of your old
- 1:57:42Speaker 3: Northeastern guys, right, I did see. I did see a
- 1:57:44Speaker 3: glimpse of them. I don't know. I'm a fan of
- 1:57:47Speaker 3: that kind of nostalgia. I don't know. I thought they
- 1:57:49Speaker 3: looked all right. I don't know.
- 1:57:50Speaker 2: I was.
- 1:57:50Speaker 3: I wore orange in high school. I didn't love it.
- 1:57:52Speaker 3: I don't really still don't love orange.
- 1:57:54Speaker 2: Orange. Orange does not look good on everybody.
- 1:57:57Speaker 7: Doesn't right.
- 1:57:57Speaker 5: The Bruins are going back.
- 1:57:58Speaker 2: To their old orange four inch door hinge, door.
- 1:58:04Speaker 6: Four ine in four inch.
- 1:58:08Speaker 3: That's two words. But it doesn't matter how any words.
- 1:58:11Speaker 3: It's still rhymed.
- 1:58:12Speaker 2: It's not talking orange door hinge, it's.
- 1:58:18Speaker 3: Not Is it not rhyming in your head? For we
- 1:58:24Speaker 3: believe you, Matt, all right, we believe you. Size doesn't matter.
- 1:58:26Speaker 7: It's fine.
- 1:58:29Speaker 3: Sorry, I still don't think anything else with orange.
- 1:58:32Speaker 2: It doesn't orange four inch door hinge.
- 1:58:35Speaker 7: Those are not yes, they are all words in the
- 1:58:37Speaker 7: all rhyme.
- 1:58:39Speaker 4: Just walking around the stadium screaming four inch four inch?
- 1:58:42Speaker 4: Oh my god, Oh Matt, what are we doing? Uh well,
- 1:58:47Speaker 4: I don't want to end the show early, even though
- 1:58:48Speaker 4: we've we've we've reached the we've reached a crescendo here
- 1:58:51Speaker 4: that the birds are changing back to their all right, yeah,
- 1:58:55Speaker 4: so they're going just the ones they just wore.
- 1:58:57Speaker 6: The orange you say, those are those you know ones
- 1:58:58Speaker 6: kind of grow on me though, No more black ones.
- 1:59:01Speaker 7: No, they're not doing to that last year.
- 1:59:03Speaker 5: We're just the centennial season jerseys and now they're going
- 1:59:05Speaker 5: back back to what they will the year before.
- 1:59:07Speaker 6: Yeah, right, yeah, Paul, you didn't like the black ones.
- 1:59:09Speaker 7: I didn't like those uniforms with the extra strikes, too
- 1:59:11Speaker 7: many stripes.
- 1:59:12Speaker 3: I got used to it. I was with you first.
- 1:59:13Speaker 3: I got used over the course of the season. But
- 1:59:19Speaker 3: I think it just.
- 1:59:19Speaker 4: Because it reminded me of the uniforms futility. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:59:24Speaker 4: well you know, losing in stand like the finals. Mostly
- 1:59:28Speaker 4: all right, Well, that's gonna do it for us. And
- 1:59:30Speaker 4: don't forget folks this weekend. It's easy to drink, it's
