- 0:03No ID is meant for a sane audience. No ID may
- 0:08contain Liberty -oriented content. PINCO discretion
- 0:12is advised. Now, here's No ID with Paul Banducci
- 0:19and Scott Moskowitz. Hey y 'all, welcome back
- 0:25to No ID. Another week, another interesting and
- 0:30new setup for Paul and I'm Scott. And I'm Paul.
- 0:35Hello internet. How is everybody today? I'm doing.
- 0:38How are you Scott? Yeah, I'm good. I'm a, I've
- 0:41debated a first day. This is North Idaho's mainstream
- 0:43media deconstruction. If I didn't say that deconstructing
- 0:47the mainstream presentations of all the BS. And
- 0:50I debated how to start today's show. Paul, by
- 0:53the way, is on his, he's using his phone, the,
- 0:56his, our, our mic interface plugged into his
- 0:59phone. It's been an interesting few weeks. It's
- 1:02a, I broke a few weeks ago that Achilles rupture
- 1:06still gonna be dealing with that for a long time
- 1:08so no fun that sucks then my dog broke about
- 1:11a day later came in with a busted ear full of
- 1:13blood we had to drain it out after a couple days
- 1:15of that horrible experience we had to take him
- 1:17to the vet and then about two weeks later my
- 1:19computer broke so I'm having it repaired as we
- 1:22speak but I'm up here in the Clark Fork Castle
- 1:24my phone attached to my hardware and Scott being
- 1:28the handyman handy dandy man that he is helped
- 1:31us sort out that and so yeah Here we are making
- 1:35it work for like the third or fourth week in
- 1:36a row. It's it's not ideal. I mean, when are
- 1:40we ever happy? Yeah, that's a it's a timely audio
- 1:48clip. It's it's been it has been a a I'm telling
- 1:52you what, I think I think I'm going to read the
- 1:54book of Job this week. I've been thinking about
- 1:57it. I've decided it has been a perfect time in
- 2:00my life. To revisit that wonderful book of job
- 2:04Lots of different trials. I know the big man
- 2:07upstairs has his plans. They don't match mine
- 2:11never seemed to Yeah, that's all right But hey,
- 2:19excited to be here with you, Scott. So what do
- 2:20you got lined up for us? Likewise, yeah. And
- 2:22I'm happy we're making it work. Paul at first
- 2:25was like, yeah, I don't know, man. The third
- 2:29thing in three weeks has taken a crap on me.
- 2:31My laptop's dust. And I don't know if we can
- 2:32do this week. And I was like, dude, we got to
- 2:35bring the show. We have people to thank. People
- 2:38sent money and if we don't if we don't have a
- 2:40show to thank them Then that might be the last
- 2:42that's ever sent to us and not just that was
- 2:44all Scott needed to say He's like but Paul the
- 2:46people gave us money and I perked right up, but
- 2:49I was like Shreckles Okay, the show must go on.
- 2:52We'll figure this out one. We will figure this
- 2:55out Okay, let's start I debated to even bring
- 3:00this to the show. You know, this is this is Idaho,
- 3:03North Idaho Media deconstruction and what in
- 3:06the world does that have to do with trouble in
- 3:08the Middle East? Which I can't I mean if you
- 3:10can believe it. There's trouble in the Middle
- 3:11East. I mean, what's next? Yeah So it's I was
- 3:17debating and the the mainstream media appears
- 3:19sort of solved my internal debate for me by actually
- 3:23featuring an Idahoan and as an Iranian born Idahoan
- 3:28And so I was like, well, OK, let's do the Idaho
- 3:31angle on it, because that's what's wall to wall
- 3:33right now. I also have a media sort of deconstruction
- 3:36angle to bring to it. So let's start with this
- 3:38one. Many Iranians across the globe celebrated
- 3:41the death of Iran's supreme leader after he was
- 3:44killed following US and Israeli airstrikes on
- 3:47Saturday. No celebration stretched to the Iranian
- 3:50community here in Idaho. We're celebrating here.
- 3:52and people in Iran are in the streets celebrating,
- 3:57dancing, chanting. The tears are coming down,
- 4:00but these are the tears of joy. Farnoosh Davis
- 4:03lived in Iran for 30 years before immigrating
- 4:06to the United States and says she's been waiting
- 4:09for this day. For 47 years, personally, I've
- 4:13been waiting for the moment that they say the
- 4:16supreme leader, Ayatollah Khomeini, is dead.
- 4:20She says her people have been oppressed for decades
- 4:23by the regime. Peaceful protest or negotiation
- 4:26is not their language. So you have to speak their
- 4:30language. I'm not sure it's ours either. It's
- 4:32just eliminated. It doesn't appear to be. Yeah,
- 4:36we are track record might say otherwise. After
- 4:39multiple US and Israeli strikes on Saturday,
- 4:42some Iranian groups around the world took to
- 4:45the streets celebrating the Supreme Leader's
- 4:47death. This strike is positive. We thank President
- 4:52Trump for helping people of Iran. But the future
- 4:55of the country is still uncertain. I'm supporting
- 4:58the constitutional monarchy, what we had, and
- 5:02that's because of the culture and the history
- 5:04of... Wait, wait, wait. So they get rid of a
- 5:07dictator but want a monarchy? Yeah, she wants
- 5:11to go back to the Shah. Uh -huh. It makes perfect
- 5:15sense. Let's finish the clip. Culture and the
- 5:17history of our country, that's the best for us.
- 5:22The word that was, did you notice what word was
- 5:26used the most often? If you read the transcript
- 5:29of this clip, what word would appear the most?
- 5:35Man, now I feel like I'm a terrible listener
- 5:37because I don't know. Supreme. Supreme. Yeah.
- 5:52It's a fun word. I mean, it's a fun word. Say
- 5:55it. Supreme. There's just certain words out there
- 5:59like scuba. Scuba. Scuba. Scuba. Great word.
- 6:06So supreme. This goes back to what we have talked
- 6:10about here before. And as a libertarian, I'm
- 6:12an anarchist, but one of the things that always
- 6:14baffles us is I had like people's gravitation
- 6:20towards being ruled and being governed. So a
- 6:26term like supreme leader is attractive. I find
- 6:33it to be so absurd. Words fail me. Words never
- 6:37fail me. It's impressive when that happens. It's
- 6:40a rarity. Supreme and OK, that's the media deconstruction
- 6:44angle. Everybody blows my mind. They're like
- 6:47they're so happy. I'm happy that the supreme
- 6:49leader is dead, and now I want a constitutional
- 6:54supreme leader. Everybody wall to wall, national,
- 7:02local, regional, all the way down to, you know,
- 7:05just the network affiliates in busted whistle
- 7:08Nebraska, and the people who were for it, the
- 7:12people who were against it, the people who like
- 7:14the bombs, the people who like Iran, everybody
- 7:16says supreme leader. 100 % of the time, they
- 7:20never refer to that asshole who's by the way,
- 7:24I bet like his beard is full of dandruff and
- 7:25his breath stinks. The Supreme leader, like they
- 7:28all say it. And you notice they never say it's
- 7:30really interesting too, because it's a whole
- 7:32group of people out there who, who do the whole
- 7:34not my president thing. And it really doesn't
- 7:36matter who's who's president. It just switches
- 7:38sides every four to eight years. You know, there's
- 7:40like not my president, but we're so happy to
- 7:43call somebody on the other side of the world
- 7:44who is a a truly terrible, horrible human being,
- 7:47and an actual full -blown dictator, we will happily
- 7:50give them the label supreme leader without batting
- 7:52an eye. Isn't that wild? The diligence, the diligence
- 7:58with which people apply that label without fail.
- 8:01And not only, okay, and you notice that they
- 8:03do it, there's very specific instances. It will
- 8:07also be done with the Prophet Muhammad, the Prophet
- 8:10Muhammad. You hear that constantly. You never
- 8:13hear some talking head go, our Lord and Savior
- 8:16Jesus Christ, they just say Jesus. You know,
- 8:19it's very interesting when labels are applied
- 8:22versus omitted. Yes, it is. I think it also,
- 8:27for those of us who pay attention, it is an easy
- 8:30way to tell what's true and what's not, because
- 8:32people are more comfortable saying things and
- 8:35doing things and acknowledging things that they
- 8:38know are not uncomfortably true. It's why, as
- 8:43humanism is spread across the West, You see almost
- 8:47a reverence for all the other cultures that are
- 8:50not ours all the other religions that are not
- 8:53ours Because they know they're not true. So there's
- 8:55nothing to be uncomfortable about you can just
- 8:57quaintly go Oh look at these look at these other
- 8:59cultures and they're they're just as good as
- 9:01ours and it's like first off No, they're not
- 9:03that's something we can unpack later Western
- 9:05civilization rises above it always has it always
- 9:07will it's not perfect Not even close, but it's
- 9:10the best of the bunch But Western civilization
- 9:13is the one that gets attacked by everybody including
- 9:16ourselves same thing with religion Christianity
- 9:19is the one religion that makes everybody uncomfortable
- 9:22Why does it make everybody uncomfortable because
- 9:25it's convicting we are not convicted by voodoo
- 9:29We're not convicted by Islam those those don't
- 9:31convict us because they're not true. They're
- 9:33false So it's easy. So it's easy to acknowledge
- 9:37those Those things it's easy to use the term.
- 9:40So supreme leader That's a fun word to use. It
- 9:43doesn't impact us, so we use it, right? And I
- 9:46think secretly a lot of people desire a supreme
- 9:49leader, even the people who just got rid of their
- 9:50supreme leader. Or openly. They want another
- 9:53one. It could be openly. Yeah, yeah, well, you
- 9:56got these people who are always, not my president,
- 9:58or recently, it's been the, no kings! And the
- 10:01same people who say no kings are the ones who
- 10:04are most likely to, who want the biggest government.
- 10:07Yeah, you love kings. They're happy with all
- 10:09other aspects of kings. They're only mad about
- 10:12who is the king. And so is this gal, this Iranian
- 10:15gal, as she just said, she goes, ah, I'm glad
- 10:17he's dead. Now it's time for another king. Where's
- 10:20the Shah? Bring the Shah back so I can worship
- 10:22that supreme leader. Uh huh. So funny. You make
- 10:26an interesting point. You make an interesting
- 10:28point about people being more publicly. I never
- 10:30quite thought of it in that way. Like there's
- 10:32something where you are, you can publicly acknowledge
- 10:37that which is like the false gods are easier
- 10:39to worship in a fake way or something like that?
- 10:43It's hard, you put it in better words than me,
- 10:44but I'm trying to wrap my mind around the concept.
- 10:47Think about the way we in Western civilization
- 10:50discuss and talk about the Hinduism, Taoism,
- 10:54although there's something to be said for Taoism
- 10:56in some ways. Again, that's another thing to
- 10:58unpack, but as an anarchist, there's actually
- 10:59a lot to be said for Taoism, but we'll leave
- 11:01that. But a lot of these other religions that
- 11:06are somehow treated as if they're equal, or cultures
- 11:09are treated as if they're equal. We talk about
- 11:11them and we feel very comfortable talking about
- 11:13it. The moment you get to Christianity, everybody
- 11:16becomes uncomfortable. The moment you start talking
- 11:19about Western civilization, everybody becomes
- 11:21uncomfortable because they're the most convicting,
- 11:24they're the best, they're the truest, they're
- 11:25the realest. We are scared of the things that
- 11:28convict us because they are true. You know you're
- 11:31over the target when you start taking flack,
- 11:34right? I'm a Chalupa man myself. I vote for Chalupa,
- 11:51Supreme Chalupa. Well, good riddance to bad rubbish
- 11:57to the Chicken Supreme Chalupa leader over there.
- 12:01The dear leader of Iran. We hardly know. Yeah,
- 12:04I can't wait to see who the next Supreme Leader
- 12:06is going to be. Yeah, well, in the 70s, does
- 12:09everybody forget? The US is responsible for getting
- 12:13rid of the Shah in the first place. And then
- 12:14Ayatollah Khomeini came in and you look at the
- 12:17pictures of Iran from the early 70s versus like
- 12:20the late 70s, early 80s. And in the early to
- 12:23mid 70s, Iran looks modern. The way everybody
- 12:27dresses, women included, the educational system
- 12:29was modernizing, everything was modernizing.
- 12:32And then we, being the US, we're like, you know
- 12:36what this place needs? A coup. And then you've
- 12:39got the ayatollahs in charge since the 70s, 50
- 12:43years. So, yeah. Good times. You know what's
- 12:45funny too is that you say coup, which they say,
- 12:50you know, the term that's used all the time is
- 12:51regime change. And it's not like regime, like
- 12:55we're disposing of the regime. We're just changing
- 12:58them. It's just gonna be another regime. We're
- 13:01just swapping it out. It's like, oh, oh yeah,
- 13:03our bad here. How about a gift exchange? Sir,
- 13:05I'd like to, I'd like to return this regime.
- 13:07Oh yeah, right away, sir. We can, we can do that
- 13:09for you. Can do. Do you have a receipt? Uh, no.
- 13:13If, uh, I wonder if we're going to try to nation
- 13:15build them to given that given Venezuela wasn't
- 13:18enough. Given the Trump and all of those people,
- 13:21you know, they ran on, um, you know, more, more
- 13:23Middle East wars, more forever wars and more
- 13:25regime change. They campaigned on it. Oh, oh
- 13:28wait. Wait. Yeah. Man, the midterms are shaping
- 13:35up to be just a slaughter fest for Republicans.
- 13:38Good job, Republicans. You didn't do anything
- 13:41you campaigned on. Not a thing. Not a single
- 13:43thing. In fact, it gets even better. And this
- 13:45is why I go and identify as a Republican. And
- 13:48I have it for eight, 10 years now. I can't. The
- 13:52Trump administration and all the Republicans
- 13:54in charge, you guys look a lot like the other
- 13:57team anyways. It's almost like it's a uniparty.
- 14:03Let's move along here to back to Idaho, even
- 14:06though we were sort of in Idaho there, tangentially.
- 14:09Here is a - Yeah, we found the one Iranian Idahoan.
- 14:13That's amazing. That's amazing. Did you catch
- 14:15her name too? I have to go back. It was like
- 14:17Fatim Hata Davis. I noticed. Okay, let's play
- 14:23here. Speaking of Republicans acting like authoritarians.
- 14:27GOP representative Jordan Redmond's latest proposal
- 14:30would be to require Idaho public school teachers
- 14:33to read a particular book every day to their
- 14:37students. This would create a statewide policy
- 14:39for public school teachers to read sequential
- 14:42passages from the Bible in their classrooms daily
- 14:45without instruction. No way! Well, wait, it gets
- 14:47better. Without instruction or comment. It was.
- 14:50Without instruction or comment. Hold still and
- 14:52shut up while we Bible at you. Without instruction
- 14:54or comment. It was an introductory hearing, but
- 14:57indeed there was. I have some questions about
- 14:59the theological. Shut up! Introductory hearing.
- 15:01I have so many questions. And favoring one faith
- 15:05over all others. Here is GOP representative Jack
- 15:09Nelson. People did not come to this nation as
- 15:12immigrants to go to government sponsored religion.
- 15:15They came here to get away from it. LDS pioneers
- 15:18settled this country. They absolutely, if you
- 15:22look at history, came here to worship for freedom
- 15:24of religion. In my community, to have a bunch
- 15:27of Catholic kids sit and have to listen to readings
- 15:31from the Book of Mormon, I think they would get
- 15:33pretty excited about that. So a vote to introduce
- 15:36follow. but five Republicans join Democrats.
- 15:40And then came a unique reminder that in the legislature,
- 15:43a chair of a committee cannot break a tie vote.
- 15:46So the proposal failed on a tie vote. I'm actually
- 15:51surprised it was a tie vote. I thought for sure
- 15:53it would be worse for Redmond's bill than a tie
- 15:57vote. I'm surprised actually that this would
- 16:00even be attempted. Okay, so. You have a different
- 16:05perspective. You're going to have a similar perspective,
- 16:07but from a different, I should say, maybe a similar
- 16:11philosophy, but from a slightly different perspective
- 16:13because of your heritage, Scott. But for me,
- 16:18I am essentially the white Anglo -Saxon Protestant,
- 16:22die -hard capitalist, love, Western civilization
- 16:26is the best, all of those things. You're a scuba,
- 16:30you're a scuba wasp. I mean you could talk about
- 16:32being a discount Jew Italian all you want, but
- 16:33you're a scuba wasp. I'm a supreme wasp, sir.
- 16:36Supreme? Chicken supreme. And even I think this
- 16:39is a terrible idea. It's a terrible idea and
- 16:41not because of the, ooh, separation of church
- 16:44and state. That's actually bullshit. The separation
- 16:46of church and state is not codified anywhere
- 16:48in the Declaration or the Constitution. The whole
- 16:51concept of separation of church and state comes
- 16:53from other writings between Madison and a few
- 16:55other people in Jefferson. And there was, you
- 16:58know, a small group of them, three or four or
- 16:59five of them, who wrote in like the Federalist
- 17:01Papers and other letters to each other. There's
- 17:03one in particular letter between, I believe,
- 17:06Madison and Jefferson that now it escapes me.
- 17:09But it has its own unique name. This letter does
- 17:11because it was a series of letters that went
- 17:13back and forth about this concept. And that's
- 17:15where the concept was coined. So, you know, this
- 17:17is important. context. It's not codified anywhere
- 17:21in our founding documents, the separation of
- 17:23church and state, because they didn't think it
- 17:25needed to be. They got away from the idea that
- 17:27the Church of England was effectively the church
- 17:29is the government and the government is the church.
- 17:31They are basically the same thing. That's different
- 17:34than state -sponsored religion. Those are different
- 17:36things. However, neither are a good thing. Now,
- 17:41I do believe that we are a Christian nation and
- 17:44we should do things from the lens of Christianity.
- 17:49But that only works if we have a Christian populace,
- 17:52which we less and less and less and less have.
- 17:54Hence why humanism is cropped up and why things
- 17:57look the way they look over the last 50, 70,
- 18:0080 years is because we were a Christian nation.
- 18:03We no longer are. Most of the people who work
- 18:05in government are not Christians, not even close.
- 18:09So we have humanism is what we have. That's the
- 18:12state -sponsored religion, if ever there was
- 18:14one. So this is all bad, though. State -run schools
- 18:18should not endorse or actively push a particular
- 18:23religion. I think state -run everything, if it
- 18:27has to exist, which it shouldn't, should be operated
- 18:30from the lens of Christianity. But we can't do
- 18:33that anymore because we're not a Christian nation
- 18:35and we're not a Christian population. There is
- 18:37an important distinction. That's a long way to
- 18:39get there, but I needed to say it because context
- 18:42is important and being able to make the distinctions
- 18:44is important. And it's not And then most people
- 18:46are going to make it about separation of church
- 18:48and state. That's a fallacy. It's wrong. And
- 18:50the moment you bring that up to me, I know you
- 18:52don't know what the heck you're talking about.
- 18:55I believe you're referring to the letter to the
- 18:57Danbury Baptists. Correct. Thank you. I knew
- 19:00it. I knew it. Thank you. Yes. Yeah, it's a it's
- 19:04a it's become a sort of buzz catch phrase to
- 19:08shut down. They just know that if you say that,
- 19:11then that renders religion irrelevant and bad.
- 19:15I've won the debate, separation of church and
- 19:17state. Done. It's the same thing as the people
- 19:22who are like, my roads, when I talk about taxation
- 19:25and they're like, oh, well, you're an idiot.
- 19:27How do we build the roads? And it's like, oh,
- 19:29you got me. There's no way we could possibly
- 19:32do anything without the government, especially
- 19:36building the flat surface upon which we drive
- 19:37the cars. Yep, you win, Trump card. Pull your
- 19:41kids out of public school. So here's where this
- 19:44could be awesome. Maybe I should maybe I do want
- 19:46it to pass and here's why Because what it might
- 19:48do is encourage even more people who are outside
- 19:52of the prototypical Christian sphere to homeschool
- 19:57or seek out alternative school. It actually will
- 20:00it will probably help push forward school choice
- 20:03as Secular people look for school choice. So
- 20:07I say bring it on do it put the Bible in schools
- 20:09because Christians who are worth their salt are
- 20:11going to hate that anyways, because they know
- 20:13that what they want taught is not going to be
- 20:15taught anyways. And public school is a scam and
- 20:17a sham. And reading the Bible in school isn't
- 20:20going to change that. And now you're going to
- 20:22have secular people and atheists and agnostics
- 20:24and everybody in between who doesn't want anything
- 20:27to do with Christianity, who also will be looking
- 20:30for school choice. So this is a win. I see this
- 20:32as a win. Let's do it. You know what? I changed
- 20:34my mind. This is a great thing. And we should
- 20:37vote it in. Well, we almost you know if it's
- 20:40tied and it's you know, it probably will probably
- 20:43won't be the last we've heard of it Maybe the
- 20:45next time it will. Oh, it's coming back. It's
- 20:48definitely coming back now I gotta ask I actually
- 20:50I know Jordan and he's a pretty smart dude. I
- 20:54definitely don't agree with all of his politics
- 20:55or his policies. I'd say He's a Republican. He's
- 21:00a true Republican. And I'd say on the scale of
- 21:02conservative, one to 10, one being the least,
- 21:0410 being the most, Jordan's probably somewhere
- 21:06like a six and a half to a seven and a half.
- 21:07He's all right. Like he's not great, but he's
- 21:10not terrible. And he means well. But now I'm
- 21:12going to ask him, I'd be like, bro, are you playing
- 21:14chess here where everybody else is playing checkers?
- 21:15Is this like 5G chess? It's a public school.
- 21:20It's a way to discredit public schools. And he's
- 21:22just thinking eight moves ahead. Like what a
- 21:24way to tear apart further the public education
- 21:27system. I love it. Actually, I love it. The more
- 21:29I think about it, the more I love it. I'm for
- 21:31this, but for very different reasons than most
- 21:35people who are for it. Because everyone else
- 21:38who's against it is on account of separation
- 21:40of church and state. Most separation, which is
- 21:44hilarious because that in and of itself is a
- 21:46religion. Everybody is religious just by FYI.
- 21:48I guess it's soapbox day. For as long as my phone
- 21:51battery will let me, I have 83 % left on my phone,
- 21:54so we're doing good. Everybody is religious.
- 21:57Everybody has a religion. Everybody's in some
- 21:59version of their own cult, one way or the other.
- 22:02The same thing with people who trot out separation
- 22:04of church and state. You're just as, you're in
- 22:07your own cult. You are articulating maybe the
- 22:12biggest realization of my adult life. And, you
- 22:16know, 22 year old me or whatever would have said
- 22:19like, oh yeah, I'm an atheist. Like, even though
- 22:21I grew up, you know, with the god of the bible
- 22:23and judaism like you know as as many do got away
- 22:27from it in my 20s when i thought i was like you
- 22:29know becoming uh sort of politically and philosophically
- 22:32online yeah when we're in our mid 20s and we
- 22:36think we're enlightened right and so i just but
- 22:38i you know i failed to realize that that is simply
- 22:41a version of religion also And in point of fact,
- 22:45it actually seems to be one of the most virulently
- 22:49religious groups is the atheist. I remember Dennis
- 22:53Prager once, not once, he mentioned this many
- 22:56times that he gave speeches in public a lot outside
- 22:59of his radio show, and he is a conservative talk
- 23:02show host if you don't know who he is. He would
- 23:05frequently relate the story of speaking at the
- 23:08atheist, there's an annual convention. I don't
- 23:11know if it's still going on, probably. Invited
- 23:14him to speak a couple few years in a row and
- 23:15he said that he When he would speak to it isn't
- 23:19into their credit, you know, and He would ask
- 23:22when he would speak to religious groups, which
- 23:25he did most of the time, you know Christians
- 23:27and Jews he would often as a precursor to speeches
- 23:30go like raise your hand you know if you if you
- 23:33ever question your belief in God and most of
- 23:36the Room raises their hand because you know people
- 23:39struggle with all sorts of stuff that make them
- 23:40question their faith You know, even doesn't Jacob
- 23:43mean struggle with God or something thereabouts?
- 23:45Like it's baked in. Struggling with God is...
- 23:47Jobin. There you go. Whereas when he went to
- 23:52the atheist convention and he said, raise your
- 23:55hand if you ever question your atheism, nobody
- 23:57raises their hand. They're sure there's no God.
- 24:00They're much more religious than the quote religious.
- 24:04Well, they're so sure there's no God, they spend
- 24:06an inordinate amount of their time and energy
- 24:07trying to prove to everybody else or convince
- 24:09everybody else that there's no God. Yep. It's
- 24:12their own version of proselytizing, really. I
- 24:14mean, in the same way that we as people of faith
- 24:16are called to evangelize and proselytize and
- 24:18spread the word, atheists actually do it too,
- 24:21in their own way. And ultimately, the question
- 24:24that everyone individually can ask themselves,
- 24:27where do you place your time, your energy, your
- 24:32finances? What do you focus on with those things,
- 24:36those finite resources that you possess? Whatever
- 24:38the answer is, well, that is what you Most value
- 24:42and that is what you To get a little heavy. I
- 24:46suppose that's what you worship in some ways
- 24:48to to your point and to wrap this before we go
- 24:51to the next clip the crowd my pre 2020 life People's
- 24:56Republic greater circle was mostly this type
- 25:00of you know atheists or at least agnostic, but
- 25:02usually atheist and What did I witness them do
- 25:06in 2020 in the most stark? visual and spiritual
- 25:12terms possible, show their worship of what they
- 25:16worship. The state. You got some good sound clips.
- 25:20I love it. Nice job. There's a meme I've got,
- 25:25I'll have to send you, that says, you know what
- 25:27really grinds my gears? Atheists who worship
- 25:29the state with religious fervor. Which they do.
- 25:33They showed us. They showed us in the starkest
- 25:35terms. possible that they will do whatever they
- 25:38are told for as long as they are told, as long
- 25:41as their God is the one who is telling them.
- 25:44Correct. Although I would say, not to play defense
- 25:46to atheists, but it's more of a statism versus
- 25:48non -statism thing, is if I had my druthers,
- 25:51you've heard me say this before, if I had my
- 25:52druthers, I would rather have a neighborhood
- 25:54full of atheist anarchists than Christians. Because
- 25:59either way, whether it's a Christian who shares,
- 26:01supposedly shares my faith, but I don't really
- 26:02think you do. If you're a statist, you can't.
- 26:05or an atheist, again, status to non -status is
- 26:07really what matters because the status wants
- 26:09to force me to do their stuff. Take my money,
- 26:13threaten me with violence, threaten me with physical
- 26:15harm, take my house if I don't pay my property
- 26:18taxes, kidnap me and throw me in a cage if I
- 26:21don't give them a portion of the fruits of my
- 26:22labor. If I don't pay for their pet projects,
- 26:25whether it's Christian or atheist, it doesn't
- 26:27matter. It's basically, I'd rather live nooks
- 26:29to an atheist. anarchist than I would have Christian
- 26:31status. I agree, of course, and probably much
- 26:34to your non -surprise, I agree. And that's because
- 26:37ultimately what I truly worship is liberty. And
- 26:41to the extent that there is worship involved
- 26:44with regard to Judeo -Christian religion, it
- 26:47is because it is the vehicle to assuring liberty
- 26:51in that rights are not granted by the state or
- 26:54man. Rights are granted by God. They are inherent
- 26:57and they cannot be taken away. So, you see what
- 26:59I'm saying? My worship of Judeo -Christian religion
- 27:02serves my worship of liberty. Well, traditionally,
- 27:07Christianity and Judeo -Christian values, this
- 27:11doesn't exist anymore, but traditionally, they
- 27:14were religions of freedom, overall freedom in
- 27:19the Lord. There was a small set of rules, major
- 27:22pillars and tenets to which you adhered to. You
- 27:24did not violate, and they were biblical, and
- 27:26there was very good reasons for them. And then
- 27:29that was it. That was what there was. You know,
- 27:31God gave prophets, then God gave judges. I mean,
- 27:34like we could unpack this over two or three or
- 27:36five episodes. And I'd love to have my buddy
- 27:37Steve paying Nobel Steve or I should less less
- 27:43Bell Steve. Yeah, Steve, that's for you. Dave
- 27:46Wallace, I'd love to have them here for a roundtable,
- 27:48maybe a special session roundtable on this topic
- 27:50alone would be awesome because we don't fully
- 27:52agree on everything, but we agree on the main
- 27:54concepts. And then there's a lot of minutia in
- 27:56between. But the point is, As I'm an anarchist
- 28:00because I am a man of faith, because I believe
- 28:02in God and because I believe that we are free
- 28:05through him and saved by him. The non -aggression
- 28:10principle to which we adhere to as anarchists
- 28:13and libertarians is just that. Don't hurt people.
- 28:16Don't take their stuff. What was the number one
- 28:19commandment in the 10 commandments? Thou shall
- 28:21have no other God before me. Number two, don't
- 28:25murder. like number three, like no adultery or
- 28:29something like that. I'm probably botching the
- 28:31order, but they're like then the top five, you
- 28:33know, and it worked for thousands of years. God
- 28:35only gave the Israelites a king because they
- 28:38were sinful shitheads and asked and asked and
- 28:41asked. God finally relented, but God said no
- 28:43for thousands of years. And then in the first
- 28:46and second Kings, if you would first, second
- 28:48Samuel, first, second Kings, if you read first
- 28:50Samuel, which is when the King, the first King
- 28:53of Israel comes to be, they ask, God know they
- 28:58demand we want a king and God says no. And they
- 29:01say, well, we want a king and God says no. And
- 29:04then they ask a third time and God finally says,
- 29:06if I give you a king, he's going to steal your
- 29:08daughters for his own. He's going to steal your
- 29:10sons for his army. He's going to steal your income
- 29:12to build his palace. He's going to make war.
- 29:15He's going to tax you and oppress you. And they
- 29:17say, we don't care. We want a king like everybody
- 29:19else. And now also like the Iranians who just
- 29:22give us a supreme leader. And God said to his
- 29:27prophet, I think it was Isaiah, right? I think
- 29:30it was, was it Isaiah? Who was there? No, Samuel.
- 29:32I was Samuel. Sorry. Jeez. I suck at this sometimes.
- 29:35Uh, and Samuel, then he was like, God WTF. And
- 29:38God goes, they're not rejecting you. They're
- 29:40rejecting me. So here we are. Like I am an anarchist
- 29:47because God is my King. I don't give a shit about
- 29:51what state thinks it has authority over me. God
- 29:55has authority over me. If I ever was going to
- 29:57fly a flag, it would be the Christian flag, I
- 30:00guess, or something. But I'm not really into
- 30:01flags other than the don't tread on me flag because
- 30:03that flag is just straight up. It's more like
- 30:05a don't trespass sign. Leave me alone. So I fly
- 30:08that flag. Anyways, rounding it all back is that
- 30:11that is the Judeo -Christian tradition. And that's
- 30:15why Western civilization did as well as it did
- 30:17because there was a small period of time where
- 30:19Western civilization started to understand that.
- 30:22And unfortunately, that's all, you know. It was
- 30:24a small period of time. Yes, it was a brief window
- 30:27and the window got slammed on our fingers by,
- 30:31I don't know, somewhere around Woodrow Wilson
- 30:33era. 1913, I submit, is the worst year for American
- 30:37history ever. It was the year that the income
- 30:39tax was put in place and it was the year that
- 30:41the Federal Reserve was established. Now, the
- 30:42Federal Reserve didn't actually start operating
- 30:44until 1914, but 1913, worst year. Yeah. And once
- 30:49again, 13, rearing its ugly Achilles busting
- 30:51head. Are you son of a bitch? Okay, so let's
- 30:55you know what here this is perfect because I
- 30:57have some audio from the latest Kootenay County
- 31:00Board of Commissioners meeting behind the commissioners
- 31:03if you by the way value for value the modal model
- 31:06that this show operates on once again I'm gonna
- 31:08bring the value here to you guys I sat through
- 31:10a lot of this baloney so that you don't have
- 31:13to so that I could just bring you the stuff that
- 31:15is Interesting enough to play on the show the
- 31:17only thing on the wall. I think in the entire
- 31:21room but certainly behind the commissioners who
- 31:24are of course up on their, you know, at the sort
- 31:26of like long lectern and they're elevated, you
- 31:29know, above the rest of the room with their microphones
- 31:33on the flexible arm. Well, that by the way, Eberlein
- 31:36never turns his on. Like he has to be reminded
- 31:38every single effing time he talks to turn your
- 31:42mic on. I don't. OK. Actually, that's kind of
- 31:45smart because then you don't have any whoopsie
- 31:47hot mic moments. No, no. See, that's the thing.
- 31:49You would think that, but you're giving him too
- 31:51much credit. Like it's like it's a calculated
- 31:53move. No, he's just a dope like a lot of at least
- 31:55in this regard with like a lot of people are
- 31:57like the thing is, is you can still hear him.
- 31:59You just can't hear him well. So it's not like
- 32:01he's going to get, you know, oh, well, I was,
- 32:03you know, I was saying the N word over and over,
- 32:05but I didn't want you to hear me. Like, no, we
- 32:07can still hear you. We just can't hear you well.
- 32:09Turn your goddamn mic on. OK, but so now, excuse
- 32:11me with the GD, because what I was going to say
- 32:13is the only thing on the wall in this room is
- 32:16a sort of largest sign above the commissioner.
- 32:20So when they're on camera, it's behind them on
- 32:22the wall. And it says, in God, we trust the only
- 32:25thing on the wall that does not stop. a lot of
- 32:29sort of petty squabbling and these ridiculous
- 32:32exchanges that go on in this chamber. So I just
- 32:34wanted to play a little bit for you. Some of
- 32:36the parts I sped up because it's sort of wordy
- 32:38and boring, but I want you to know this is this
- 32:40is sort of captures the tone and tenor of a lot
- 32:44of these meetings and exchanges with the various
- 32:46people that come before the commissioners and
- 32:48the commissioners among themselves. Chief Deputy
- 32:51Treasurer, I figure this is probably representative
- 32:53of almost every commission, like just extrapolate
- 32:56this across every city council. every, every
- 32:58county, every, I mean, this, this is just politics
- 33:01in a nutshell at the local level. So, you know,
- 33:04there you go. Jill Smith for the record, at this
- 33:08time the treasurer's office continues to wait
- 33:10to receive a fully tested PP2 roll from the assessor's
- 33:13office. She's talking, this is the deputy treasurer
- 33:17and she's speaking about some sort of like, I
- 33:20don't know, software upgrade or they're going
- 33:21to change their backend and how they conduct
- 33:24their office operations and then the assessor's
- 33:27office is also trying to do that but they're
- 33:29waiting on the assessor and the assessor's waiting
- 33:31on the treasurer and they're like... you know,
- 33:33basically taking month after month after month
- 33:35after month to try and implement this backend
- 33:37or whatever, you know, whatever slack, I don't
- 33:40know, whatever software they're trying to implement.
- 33:42And neither one of them seems to be able to get
- 33:43their crap together. Tested PP2 role from the
- 33:46assessor's office. And until that process is
- 33:48finalized, the role cannot be delivered to us
- 33:50for treasurer side validation and workflow testing.
- 33:54Yeah, I think the challenge is the fact that...
- 33:58Who's this? This is Bela Kovacs. Joe! Okay, well,
- 34:02can you hang tight just for a minute? So that's
- 34:05Commissioner Bruce Mattari, and he's got Bela
- 34:08Kovacs, who's the CUNY County Assessor, on the
- 34:10phone. And I just like the part where he's like,
- 34:13who's speaking, like he doesn't know. Yeah, I
- 34:15think the challenge is... Then I like where he
- 34:17tells them, hey, shut up, you, I'm going to talk.
- 34:20Pipe down. This is... Okay, it goes on. Yeah,
- 34:23I think the challenge is the fact that... Commissioners?
- 34:26Who's this? This is Bela Kovacs. OK, well, can
- 34:31you hang tight just for a minute? I would like
- 34:34to. You bet. So I'm clarifying because it's been
- 34:37said that this has been fully tested since last
- 34:40summer and that we're delaying the implementation
- 34:42of this project that we've been working on for
- 34:45a long time. That's not the case. I'm still waiting
- 34:48for something that I can start testing. Bela
- 34:51Kovacs, Assessor for the Record. What was my
- 34:54understanding is we were going to address our
- 34:56fixes and our solutions. from the assessor side,
- 34:59I guess it raises the question, why did it take
- 35:02a whole year for the Treasurer's Office to figure
- 35:04out that they wanted to be a part of Simpatico?
- 35:07I can answer that for you. I don't have the answer.
- 35:10This is my agenda. Well, I don't have the answer
- 35:12for that. Assessor Kovacs, is there anything
- 35:15else you have to say? Yeah. All right. I want
- 35:19to remark that. as the state task commission
- 35:20makes more programming changes because the state
- 35:22laws change because the software maker makes
- 35:24patches, fixes, and updates. The software program
- 35:26is like the blue dot reading program and it costs
- 35:27$100 to maintain that programming until the new
- 35:29programming changes for the terms are completed.
- 35:30And that's a whole year to do. OK, thank you,
- 35:33Assessor Kovacs. Jill? So Assessor Kovacs, it
- 35:37seems to have forgotten. that when the master
- 35:40contract for this project was created, he sat
- 35:41in Steve's office. And together we discussed
- 35:43what the master contract should say. And it was
- 35:45decided that it would be a master contract because
- 35:46it would start with the assessor's office. And
- 35:47when the assessor's office was created, it would
- 35:48start with the treasurer's office. They couldn't
- 35:49start working on anything for the treasurer's
- 35:50office. Oh, wait. Hold on. Crap. I forgot to
- 35:53mute that. That's my fault. I was like, is Paul
- 35:56playing that in real time? I was like, oh, no,
- 35:58that's my clip. They couldn't start working on
- 36:01anything for the treasurer's office. That's all
- 36:02you, Boo. I can give some background on some
- 36:07of this, by the way. Yeah, let's let's ride this
- 36:10out and then then let's hear it so in February
- 36:12Sorry assessor Kovacs do not interrupt I'm sorry,
- 36:23but assessor Kovacs, it's not your turn to speak
- 36:39I offered them to piggyback and be a part of
- 36:42the master contract that I created they refused
- 36:45assessor Kovacs does everything have to be like
- 36:48this I mean at what point do us elected officials
- 36:52just work together okay what point at what point
- 36:56what point do we just work together to get the
- 36:59job done Does it all have to be spelled out?
- 37:01That's what we've been trying. I'm sorry. I'm
- 37:03speaking. Does it all have to be spelled out
- 37:06in a contract between the elected officials?
- 37:09Can't we just figure out how to, you know, work
- 37:11together? We have been working together. Well,
- 37:14it doesn't sound like to get some cooperation
- 37:17from the other side. Well, well, why? Why did
- 37:19this is actually true? Kovacs has had a really
- 37:23rough go of it now. He he has made a couple of
- 37:25missteps. And I think I don't think he expected
- 37:28the level of resistance that he got. But basically
- 37:30from day one that I voted for the guy and I think
- 37:33he's, for the most part, I think he's trying
- 37:35really hard to clean up what is a pretty messed
- 37:37up archaic situation in the Kootenai County assessor's
- 37:41office. He's not popular down there because,
- 37:44you know, pro tip, fun fact, surprise, nobody
- 37:48in the county tax collection agencies tend to
- 37:51be conservative. Weird, right? Who could have
- 37:54thunk it? Kovacs tends to be more on the conservative
- 37:57side of it. So we got in there. He saw things
- 37:58he didn't like. He saw things that shouldn't
- 38:00be. He went to make some changes. They've been
- 38:02trying to make changes for a couple of years.
- 38:04And every step of the way, the staff underneath
- 38:06him and a side of him or to the side of him has
- 38:10basically slowed things down, sabotaged. They've
- 38:13they've actively worked against him the entire
- 38:15way. And sort of like the NIC episode, what you
- 38:19have is underlings who have done thing a particular
- 38:22way for a while and like the way they've done
- 38:24it. threatening to set fire to the building,
- 38:27so to speak, because they don't want things to
- 38:29get cleaned up or changed. And then as Bella
- 38:31Kovacs has not backed down, then the refrain
- 38:34is that it's all his fault. Like you're doing
- 38:37this to us, you know, don't take another step,
- 38:39but we're going to burn the building down. And
- 38:41Kovacs is like, this is my job and I'm trying
- 38:42to clean things up. And then they, you know,
- 38:44his underlings set the building on fire and then
- 38:47they go, this is your fault. And then that's
- 38:48the refrain that has been repeated and repeated
- 38:50and repeated. And if you read the press, look
- 38:52at any of the articles of the press, you'll see
- 38:54that that's exactly how that's gone. So all you
- 38:56have to do is just see some of the articles that
- 38:58the press runs and then you ought to know, oh,
- 39:00OK, so what they're saying is actually the opposite
- 39:02of what's going on, just like it was with NIC.
- 39:05Basically, whatever the press says, just know
- 39:07that the opposite thing is what's happening,
- 39:10because that's how they covered NIC the exact
- 39:12same way. Now, I'm not saying Kovacs is blameless
- 39:15and all this. I think he overestimated some things
- 39:18and should have probably gone about some things
- 39:20a different way. But now you've got the county
- 39:23commission full of conservatives actively working
- 39:26against Kovacs as well. So congratulations to
- 39:31the establishment. They got what they wanted.
- 39:33And they've even got conservatives working against
- 39:35conservatives now. So that's what's going on
- 39:37here. Kovacs is trying to defend himself going,
- 39:40hey, we've been working on stuff. We've been
- 39:41trying to do this. You people have been undermining
- 39:44me the whole way. And on the other end of it,
- 39:46the people who have been undermining him And
- 39:48now the county commissioners who have been brought
- 39:51into the fray without really fully knowing are
- 39:53going act like they're taking the high road.
- 39:56And they're saying, why can't you just work with
- 39:58people, Kovacs? Why can't we all just get along?
- 40:00Why can't you just work with everybody? And Kovacs
- 40:02is over there going, I'm trying, you dildos.
- 40:06I'm sorry, who's speaking? The assessor. The
- 40:10guy in charge of assessing and collecting taxes
- 40:13for the county. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Hold on. Hold
- 40:16on. Bruce Matari is like, be quiet, plebe. I'm
- 40:20speaking. No, I'm speaking. I like how everybody
- 40:23gets to interrupt except for Bella Kovacs. Like
- 40:26everybody else gets to speak and interrupt. But
- 40:28when Bella tries to defend himself, they're like,
- 40:30oh, shut up, you. My take on it is that both
- 40:35your departments own this. and that you both
- 40:38need to work together to get it resolved and
- 40:40pointing fingers and saying why hasn't someone
- 40:42else done something and all those things is not
- 40:45productive and if the board does have to get
- 40:47involved I can assure you that it probably won't
- 40:50be to your liking put your shields and swords
- 40:53down and sit in a room and figure out how to
- 40:55get this thing to work okay thanks dad that makes
- 41:01me think of having like I've got three kids now
- 41:04two of them are a little bit on the older side
- 41:0515 and 11 and they get along splendidly well,
- 41:09especially for being such different personalities
- 41:11and such. Four years isn't a big deal when you're,
- 41:14you know, my age and your age, Scott, but when
- 41:17you're 11 and 14 and 15, four years, it's an
- 41:20eternity. And, you know, older girl and a younger
- 41:23boy. So in most American households, that's a
- 41:26recipe for constant strife, but not in my household,
- 41:28which is really nice. I have a good family, but
- 41:30it does, but once in a while tension erupts.
- 41:34And when I'm off my game, I have a Bruce Matari
- 41:37moment there where I'm just like, everybody shut
- 41:40up. Just get along. Just do it. And both of them
- 41:44are trying to explain their side. It was like,
- 41:45I don't care. You're dumb. Just get along. There,
- 41:51I've solved it. Dad of the year, supreme leader
- 41:54dad. I prefer the term supreme father of the
- 42:00land. His supreme magnificence. Okay, let's do
- 42:08one more quick one here before we take a little
- 42:10mid show breather Die real quick. It's a good
- 42:14reminder though clips like that. I'm glad you
- 42:16played that It's a good reminder That humans
- 42:20are humans no matter where they are or what they
- 42:23do for a living or what position they're in so
- 42:27it broken down in the simplest phrase possible
- 42:31it is that if People are so bad that they cannot
- 42:36be trusted and if people are so bad that they
- 42:39need to be governed Well, where do you find the
- 42:43angels to do the governing? You can't it's impossible
- 42:46because wherever you go people are people So
- 42:49why on God's green earth would we want to give
- 42:52people? more power over other people He's absolutely
- 42:59right here is Matari and His fellow commissioner,
- 43:05Leslie Duncan, they have frequent sort of spats
- 43:10and disagreements. Here is what a typical one
- 43:13sounds like. You're familiar with this, right?
- 43:16Oh, yes, because it's like the third or fourth
- 43:18year in a row that I've held this event. And
- 43:21it doesn't even matter what it is. So just listen
- 43:23to it. Like the third or fourth year in a row
- 43:24that I've held this event. And it's the first
- 43:26time I've gotten these concerns from employees.
- 43:29And I think really the... Do we want to wash
- 43:32our dirty laundry out in the public? No. Oh,
- 43:35yeah. What I want to do is... That was Mark Everline.
- 43:37for in case you didn't recognize his voice. Laundry
- 43:39out in the public. Sounds like he remembered
- 43:41to turn his mic on that time. That time, yeah.
- 43:43I think maybe he just didn't turn it off from
- 43:44the previous time he spoke. Laundry out in the
- 43:46public. No. In fact, what I want to do is I want
- 43:49to figure out a way where we can move this forward
- 43:52with respect to doing a board sanctioned event.
- 43:55Is this a board sanctioned event? No, it isn't.
- 43:59It is a private event that I use to appreciate
- 44:02the department heads, and I use my own funds.
- 44:05you know if we want to make it a board event
- 44:07then we can make it a board event and we can
- 44:09use the county staff or the you know to to organize
- 44:11it oh no you know and i didn't want to have to
- 44:14do this i mean i just i thought that we can't
- 44:16why do you have to do that's not true you absolutely
- 44:19can talk about administrative stuff it doesn't
- 44:22matter you love to bring these things forward
- 44:25to the public to misconstrued and that's act
- 44:29like there's some type of wrongdoing going on
- 44:32but I have not had a problem the last three years
- 44:36well then you know let's eliminate the mixed
- 44:39signal of having you know county staff asking
- 44:42for good dates and things like that no problem
- 44:47okay all right any other comments I guess not
- 44:52wait so Wait, are you noticing a theme here with
- 44:56how Bruce Matari operates and also how he thinks
- 44:59he finds resolution? He basically just tells
- 45:02everybody to shut up and basically is like, well,
- 45:09this is how it's going to go. And you're dumb
- 45:11and you're dumb and everybody shut up. And there
- 45:15we've. OK, solve the problem. No problem. That's
- 45:23what the heck. Okay. Those are our county county
- 45:28commissioners, everybody county everybody. Actually,
- 45:34I know, I know two of those three people personally.
- 45:37I know them personally, and I would consider
- 45:39them family friends. And the one that I don't
- 45:41know personally, and I don't consider a family
- 45:43friend is the one who's running everybody over
- 45:45and acting like a bad dad. So I'm inclined to
- 45:48take the side of anybody who's not him at this
- 45:50moment. Now, I don't have all the information.
- 45:52I don't have all the context. I just I know the
- 45:55players so I can make an educated guess. And
- 45:58as usual, nobody's perfect. And they're all in
- 46:01political office. And I don't respect any of
- 46:04that anyways, because the state is evil and terrible.
- 46:07So screw it all. But it sounds to me without
- 46:11any other background here that Leslie has been
- 46:14organizing an event that's like a an employee
- 46:17appreciation event. Yeah. for county employees
- 46:21out of her own pockets and something she's doing
- 46:23of her own volition as a private event. What
- 46:27is the problem here? And how I wonder if somebody
- 46:30didn't get invited and they got pissy about it.
- 46:32Or maybe the event ran afoul of somebody else's
- 46:35calendar or something. That sounds like sour
- 46:37grapes to me. But that's exactly how statists
- 46:40operate is they tell people to go do their own
- 46:44thing somewhere else. Right. Well, if you don't
- 46:45like it here, move to Somalia. Or if you don't
- 46:47like the public school system, Create your own.
- 46:50And we go, okay. And we do create our own system
- 46:53where we try to live as far outside the mainstream
- 46:56as we can while still getting, you know, conducting
- 46:58life business. So in this case, Leslie goes,
- 47:00I haven't, I want to, I want to make County people
- 47:02feel better. And maybe, maybe she just picks
- 47:04the County people that have been useful or helpful
- 47:07or the ones she likes. She's allowed to do that.
- 47:09It's out of her own pocket. How is this a problem?
- 47:12Are we eight years old and you're upset because
- 47:13you didn't get invited? Bummer. Grow up. You
- 47:17know, and I didn't want to have to do this. I
- 47:19mean, I just, I thought that we can't talk about
- 47:21these things. That's not true. You absolutely
- 47:23can talk about administrative stuff. So Leslie
- 47:25creates her own event in their own space, privately
- 47:29funded. He didn't want to have to do this, but
- 47:32here he goes. Uh huh. And I don't know anything
- 47:35about like what's going on in the true motivations
- 47:39or like the inner thoughts or... You know, is
- 47:42Matari a statist? Is Leslie doing something she's
- 47:44not supposed to be doing? Like, I don't really
- 47:45know. I just know what they're doing publicly.
- 47:48And they honestly sound like third graders. Yeah,
- 47:51they do. Well, and to a degree, I would say it
- 47:53doesn't matter. The principle of the matter is
- 47:57a person was doing a thing in a private way with
- 48:02their own money. So why does government have
- 48:06to get involved? It shouldn't. But Bruce Matare's
- 48:10inclination is to co -opt it, to commandeer it
- 48:12is the better answer because, or to shut it down.
- 48:15Did you get that? Like Bruce Matare came at this
- 48:17as a, we either do it my way, which is to turn
- 48:20it into a county sanctioned event with, oh, by
- 48:23the way, taxpayer money, Scott, when it was not
- 48:27being taxpayer funded originally, it's not. So
- 48:30that's a good thing. Now Bruce wants to make
- 48:33it a taxpayer funded thing, which is bullshit,
- 48:36number one, and then number two, commandeer what
- 48:38wasn't his to take. And your options in typical
- 48:41government fashion are we either take over your
- 48:44thing or we just eliminate it entirely. Those
- 48:47are your choices. And that's what sticks out
- 48:50to me. That's why this that's why this kind of
- 48:52thing matters, because it's a philosophy, it's
- 48:55an ideology, and it translates into how people
- 48:57behave. in their personal lives, which I don't
- 49:00care so much about, but then it translates into
- 49:02how they behave in their public and their political
- 49:04lives. And it affects and informs their politics
- 49:07and then how they govern other people, events,
- 49:11places, functions. And that is terrifying. Here
- 49:17is one more final government running the back
- 49:21end of things and things not really quite going
- 49:23to plan before the break. just for some comedic
- 49:27enjoyment. It happened in Washington, but close
- 49:30enough. The Washington Department of Licensing
- 49:32experienced a malfunction after using a new tool
- 49:35for Spanish speaking callers. It could be considered
- 49:39a cautionary tale about AI not working as it
- 49:42was intended. It was just a moment out of parks
- 49:45and rec. It was crazy. Only for Maya Edwards,
- 49:48the Washington Department of Licensing was the
- 49:50agency lost in translation. Last July, her husband
- 49:54called them and followed the AI generated prompts.
- 49:57He clicked Spanish and he was like, you have
- 49:59got to hear what just happened when I clicked
- 50:02Spanish. Here's what they heard. Thank you for
- 50:05calling the Department of Licensing. Yes, English
- 50:09with a yes accent. Except the numbers. For some
- 50:13reason, those were in Spanish. It's crazy. It's
- 50:23crazy. Maya did what any self respecting millennial
- 50:27would do. I reposted it on Tiktok. She also reported
- 50:30the problem to the DOL, but last week she discovered
- 50:34no one had fixed it, so she posted again. It's
- 50:37now half in Spanish and half in English. This
- 50:40time her video went by progress and the agency
- 50:43got the message. I don't know. I feel bad for
- 50:46the person who came in Monday at the DOL. In
- 50:48a statement, the Washington Department of Licensing
- 50:50noted they had fixed the glitch and apologize
- 50:53for the error, calling it an unfortunate byproduct
- 50:56of expanding services. Shout out to Washington
- 50:58for trying to be accessible. I really appreciate
- 51:00that. A show of humanity in a moment that could
- 51:04use more humankind. We're going to use AI to
- 51:07cut costs or cut corners or whatever. Have somebody
- 51:10real check it. If we're going to use AI to get
- 51:15rid of the workforce, at least retain enough
- 51:17of the workforce to make sure AI is working properly.
- 51:22Hey, do you think that the assessor's office
- 51:25and the Department of the Treasury in Cooney
- 51:28County was the ones who got contracted to work
- 51:30on this department of Washington Department of
- 51:32Licensing thing? Because it took them a year
- 51:36or half a year and still nothing happened. No
- 51:38one's fixed it. Yeah, I have the best fix of
- 51:41all. You want to hear it, Scott? Let's hear it.
- 51:43Abolish the Department of Licensing. Poof. No
- 51:47more problems. Boom. And boom goes the dynamite.
- 51:50Well, one thing we're not abolishing is the model
- 51:55that this program runs on, which is value for
- 51:58value. No ID is a value for value proposition.
- 52:03That means that if you find our show valuable.
- 52:07We ask that you send value back to us, and there
- 52:10are many different ways that you can do that.
- 52:13Time, talent, or treasure. I have some notes
- 52:18to read, which is a great way to return value.
- 52:21Sending notes into us, sending any sort of correspondence
- 52:25about stuff you heard that you take exception
- 52:28to, stuff that you agree with. Like love notes?
- 52:31Those are the notes I like the best. Do you love
- 52:34the love notes? Hate notes are also great? Try
- 52:37and stay away from those for Scott Scott can
- 52:39have the hate notes. Those are fine. It's appropriate
- 52:40because he's Jewish That's supposed to mean The
- 52:45I'm gonna write a note anonymously and send it
- 52:47in just a hate hate mail just to you Scott would
- 52:50be great But you're gonna know it's me because
- 52:52I end it in like taxation is theft Taxation is
- 52:56theft from anonymous Why is Scott even on this
- 53:03podcast he is the worst I want to hear more Paul
- 53:07Taxation is theft anonymous The the notes I don't
- 53:13want to get are the the notes that are indifferent
- 53:15Those are boring, but it's love notes and hate
- 53:17notes. Oh, absolutely Agreed agreed. Yeah, don't
- 53:21don't get all mad on us folks Please if you gotta
- 53:23if you gotta hate us do just hate us. Don't be
- 53:26don't be a lukewarm about it The also it's so
- 53:30like I was saying sending in that sort of stuff
- 53:33Correspondence is value returned sending in audio
- 53:36sending in show art and as such I would like
- 53:39to thank Steve Pegg for last shows show art Cool
- 53:43-looking image and it worked perfectly for episode
- 53:46number 17 Today is episode number 18 if anybody's
- 53:51out there wondering why we talk about Steve Pegg
- 53:54more than we should It's just one of the benefits
- 53:56of being one of my best friends because we don't
- 53:59love the rest of you. We actually probably love
- 54:01the rest of you more. But I just had, I felt
- 54:03the compelled to explain all of a sudden. So
- 54:05that's why he keeps coming up. That's what you
- 54:08get for being one of my best friends. Love it
- 54:10or hate it, mostly hate. Right. Okay, so any
- 54:13form of correspondence or submissions like we're
- 54:16saying is value returned. That'd be like the
- 54:19time and talent portion. Noidishow .com is where
- 54:21you can go to do all of this. There's a contact
- 54:23button. There are buttons to return value, the
- 54:26treasure portion, which is extremely appreciated.
- 54:29I should mention that Of the there's Venmo and
- 54:33PayPal. There's also I've mentioned before that
- 54:35patreon is an option Patreon is a good one for
- 54:38like sustaining donations So if you feel compelled
- 54:41to kick in like a monthly sustaining donation,
- 54:44that is extremely how you mean like recurring
- 54:46Mm -hmm. Exactly. And there's there's many different
- 54:48you can pick any amount you want There are some
- 54:51pre determined amounts like as you know, three
- 54:54bucks a month or 33 bucks a month or there's
- 54:56like several different tiers or you can just
- 54:59pick Like whatever you want, but yeah sustaining
- 55:02monthly donations If you feel compelled like
- 55:03this show is consistently bringing you value
- 55:05and you want to consistently return value That
- 55:08is something that will grow the show in a very
- 55:11healthy and appreciated way So no ID show comm
- 55:14is where you go to do all that now. I don't know
- 55:19if Leaving reviews is helpful. I've sort of received
- 55:22mixed feedback on whether or not reviews do anything
- 55:26like Google reviews or like Yelp reviews? Well,
- 55:30yeah, except for on like, you know, on Spotify
- 55:33or on iTunes or on, you know, Podverse, if you
- 55:36are on a podcasting 2 .0 app. Anywhere you are
- 55:39listening to this show, there are places to leave
- 55:43reviews. So if you have a couple minutes to take
- 55:47the time to leave a review for the show on the
- 55:49off chance, like I said, I'm not sure that it
- 55:51does, but on the off chance that it does help,
- 55:54please do it. That would be cool. But remember,
- 55:57if you do do that, do do, make sure that it's
- 56:00highly negative or highly positive. It needs
- 56:03to be bipolar. Do not be indifferent. No. Yeah.
- 56:06Get out of here with that three star bullshit.
- 56:08It needs to be one or five. Right. Okay, I would
- 56:12like to we do have an executive producer to thank
- 56:15and before I thank him I would like to read this
- 56:18message from a group text thread that are this
- 56:21week's executive producer Which is the spook
- 56:23from Spokane who has donated a couple few times
- 56:25Spokane I want to read this message because he
- 56:30and Mr. Bologna and Jen with a G on this group
- 56:35thread, had some commentary on our coverage of
- 56:38the avalanche stuff and being a snow expert,
- 56:42if you recall. Okay, so here's the first message
- 56:47from Mr. Belloni. IPAC, that's the Idaho Panhandle
- 56:51Avalanche Center, for which the snow expert that
- 56:55was interviewed in that clip, that's the organization
- 56:58she worked for, the nonprofit that we were talking
- 57:00about. IPAC is awesome. Jen with the GNI did
- 57:04their avalanche training courses very informative
- 57:06practical knowledge was delivered and practice
- 57:08throughout the training. The organization seems
- 57:10well structured and provided the region with
- 57:13avalanche forecasts throughout the region to
- 57:15help backcountry skiers, sorry, backcountry users
- 57:18like skiers, snowboarders assess risks before
- 57:21they go and it's free. It's supposed to daily
- 57:23or like every few days. With all these avalanches
- 57:25in the news, I've been shocked that none of the
- 57:27media reports have included details about what
- 57:29the forecast said for the location of the avalanche.
- 57:32Well, not shocked. The media sucks balls at everything,
- 57:35especially their jobs, but still would be a nice.
- 57:37Right about that baloney would be a nice disclaimer
- 57:39to add to the stories as a public service, but
- 57:41that would be assuming the media is here to serve
- 57:43the public. It would also be assuming that he's
- 57:45on a roll, that they'd want people taking personal
- 57:47responsibility to assess and. to assess and accept
- 57:51risks in their lives. Instead, snow bad. Yeah.
- 57:59There was a bunch more. I'll just read a little
- 58:01bit more here because what you don't know about
- 58:02snow might kill you. Kill you. We're all going
- 58:06to die. There's a bunch more on this thread,
- 58:09including a bunch of pictures from Mr. Bologna
- 58:13and Gin with a G up doing. actual avalanche doing
- 58:17like, oh, your friends buried. So let's practice
- 58:19what is the best practices for digging them out.
- 58:22I mean, this was like a major all day training
- 58:24thing that they did. to prepare themselves for,
- 58:28you know, if they find themselves in this sort
- 58:29of situation. So just a little bit more. In the
- 58:32morning, up to about 3 p .m., it took place up
- 58:34at Schweitzer. We split into teams for practice
- 58:36bits. We dug test pits. There was team digging
- 58:38for rescue, searching debris fields for beacon
- 58:41practice. Instructors buried the beacon somewhere.
- 58:43And then they set a scene nearby with poles and
- 58:45skis as evidence of the location. It was truly
- 58:47awesome practice. Digging somebody out was shockingly
- 58:50difficult and exhausting. Good detail. He said,
- 58:54now I'm a certified snow expert. So anyway, this
- 58:56thread went on and there was a lot of back and
- 58:59forth about this training and the legitimacy
- 59:02and, not legitimacy, but importance of an organization
- 59:07like this and that they were doing good work.
- 59:10And the media was not, as usual, but this organization
- 59:13was, is. I'm glad to hear that. I don't think
- 59:16I did, but if I made fun of IPAC in an earlier
- 59:18episode, then I take it back. Well, we were just
- 59:21kind of, you know, being a little flip and we're
- 59:23really making more fun of the media than than
- 59:25than I pack. But yeah, we were just like, well,
- 59:27what's a snow expert? And we were just kind of
- 59:28joking around. And they this our friends here
- 59:31took it in the spirit in which it's intended.
- 59:32But I just wanted to share some of this because
- 59:34they had actually done the avalanche training.
- 59:37That's actually really cool. Well done, guys.
- 59:40I I learned something new today that snow expert
- 59:43is actually kind of maybe sort of a thing. OK,
- 59:45I'll give it to you guys. I'll give it to you
- 59:46guys. Yeah. Well done. So for sharing. One of
- 59:51that threads participants was is the spook from
- 59:55Spokane who is the executive producer for number
- 59:59episode number 18 this week on no ID and Yes,
- 1:00:04we from so can donated a row of ducks to to dot
- 1:00:07to to he says you guys are no snow scientists
- 1:00:12But you put on a good show. IPAC actually saves
- 1:00:16lives. So we are show scientists. We're show
- 1:00:17experts, not snow experts. We're not experts.
- 1:00:19We just play one on TV. IPAC actually saves lives,
- 1:00:23unlike the Idaho Health Department. For those
- 1:00:26snow enthusiasts, remember that terrain is the
- 1:00:29answer. Stay safe from the spook from Spokane.
- 1:00:33Stay safe. Hey, thanks spook from Spokane. We
- 1:00:36really appreciate that. Appreciate the consistency.
- 1:00:38There's been a number of you who have been...
- 1:00:40pretty consistent and we appreciate everything
- 1:00:43but particularly the consistency some of you
- 1:00:46guys bring so thank you i had an idea and i'm
- 1:00:48just going to throw it out there live and maybe
- 1:00:50we get feedback on it since most of our listeners
- 1:00:54are from the area and in the area perhaps sometime
- 1:00:59in the late spring when i'm out of this boot
- 1:01:01because i'm in this big fat stupid boot right
- 1:01:04now for my achilles tendon and it's no fun i
- 1:01:06want to be out of the boot when we do this perhaps
- 1:01:09we have a no id get together day of us and our
- 1:01:13executive producers. Maybe we meet even, if they're
- 1:01:15willing, meet at the lounge and have a drink
- 1:01:17and cigars and hang out and have ourselves a
- 1:01:21jolly old time. Well, I think that would be a
- 1:01:24full circle proposition because I know the Spook
- 1:01:28from Spokane and Jen with a G and Mr. Bologna
- 1:01:31and many others from no agenda meetups. So yes,
- 1:01:34a no ID meetup would be a terrific thing to do.
- 1:01:37I'm all for it. Bitchin'. Yeah. And a lot most
- 1:01:42a lot of the other guys like like Kevin Killian,
- 1:01:44who's been super consistent and he's a dear friend.
- 1:01:46And I mean, I met I met him because of the industry
- 1:01:48I used to work in and and a fair number of other
- 1:01:51folks who have been in our orbit are in that
- 1:01:54orbit. So, yeah, I say details to be to be determined
- 1:01:58date to be determined with Scott and I'll foment
- 1:02:00some dastardly plans and then keep you all abreast
- 1:02:03of the situation in the near future. I think
- 1:02:06it'd be a lot of fun. And even without such a
- 1:02:08meetup, I did want to say that. If any of you
- 1:02:11would also like to be disproportionately mentioned,
- 1:02:13like my friend Steve Pegg is, all it takes is
- 1:02:16just becoming a good friend of mine. So hit me
- 1:02:19up and we'll have a meet and a drink. Usually
- 1:02:22I'm not drinking much anymore. Just for now,
- 1:02:24for now, just because health stuff. But, you
- 1:02:27know, a cigar and a hangout or a lunch or whatever.
- 1:02:29But I'm always happy to meet new and interesting
- 1:02:31people, especially ones who take more of a libertarian
- 1:02:34worldview. That's always fun. Or if you don't,
- 1:02:36that's OK. We'll meet up and we'll argue. And
- 1:02:38that'll be a great time, too. It's just that's
- 1:02:40a personal invitation. You're not invited Scott.
- 1:02:43I know we had that last week where it doesn't
- 1:02:45matter I'm inviting myself the the racketeer
- 1:02:48And which is your fault is a public institution.
- 1:02:52So I'm kind you can't stop me Actually, that's
- 1:02:59perfect the lukewarm thing we had a laugh about
- 1:03:00that yesterday I felt yeah poor Scott is like
- 1:03:02you don't even think of me ever do you and it's
- 1:03:04like no I don't hate you. I don't love you. I
- 1:03:06just forget I just forget about you till it's
- 1:03:08time to record Until I need your help with tech.
- 1:03:13It's not true. I love Scott. He's a good friend.
- 1:03:16Truly, you're a good friend. Go to noidshow .com
- 1:03:20if you'd like to become an executive producer
- 1:03:22of an episode of No ID. Or yes, hit the contact
- 1:03:25button and send us a message if you'd like to
- 1:03:28become. We'll start with just a regular friend
- 1:03:30and then maybe good friend like later, you know.
- 1:03:32Yeah, yeah. One step at a time. I mean, I don't
- 1:03:34want to scare anybody off. I'm not looking for
- 1:03:36marriage. I'm happily married. So, you know,
- 1:03:38nothing like that. You know, I'm not even looking
- 1:03:40for friends necessarily. I got what I need. And
- 1:03:42so this is so clear. This isn't a cry for help.
- 1:03:44This is just a Paul being friendly kind of thing.
- 1:03:46And it's like, yeah, people who tune in, I want
- 1:03:48to meet them. And with all that said, I think
- 1:03:59it's time for second half show. Let's start off
- 1:04:03with this ridiculous one, but it's sort of on
- 1:04:07theme from our last show. Before we do, I got
- 1:04:11to publicly just announce that yes, I know we've
- 1:04:14missed another Scott shots. I apologize. I apologize
- 1:04:17to you, Scott. I apologize to our executive producers.
- 1:04:21It is coming back. I just don't have the tech
- 1:04:23to pull it off. I had the last three or four
- 1:04:25weeks. Yeah. It's been a combination of being
- 1:04:27injured, not having my, my computer working,
- 1:04:30not having my tech with me because I've been
- 1:04:32traveling Scott and I have recorded, I think
- 1:04:34twice in the last four, twice together. And I
- 1:04:37haven't had my tech with me. So it's just a combination
- 1:04:39of bad timing injuries, stuff, not working, travel,
- 1:04:42yada, yada, yada. But I promise to you and everybody
- 1:04:45it's coming back. I can't wait till I got lots
- 1:04:50of them and they're pretty good. Next week is
- 1:04:53a maybe I my computer is out for repair. We figured
- 1:04:55out what's wrong with it Luckily, it is a not
- 1:04:58a big it's not a huge fix and it's not super
- 1:05:00expensive, which is nice I'm gonna be into it
- 1:05:02for a couple hundred bucks two three hundred
- 1:05:04bucks tops, which is super nice But parts we're
- 1:05:07waiting on parts so they might come in this week.
- 1:05:09They might come in next week We will see so it
- 1:05:12might be one more week before but on the bright
- 1:05:14side I met a really awesome young kid who's starting
- 1:05:17up a business as a computer repair guy. He's
- 1:05:19good is He's responsive. And the dude met me
- 1:05:23halfway to come get my laptop. So I live way
- 1:05:25out in Clark Fork. I'm an hour almost from Sandpoint.
- 1:05:29He lives in Sagal, which is south of Sandpoint.
- 1:05:30And he met me halfway. So I only had to drive
- 1:05:32like half an hour to hand him off my laptop.
- 1:05:35And then he promptly got to work on it. It's
- 1:05:37Sean Duffy of Organic Intelligence Computer Repair.
- 1:05:39I'm giving him a shout out now because he's a
- 1:05:41great kid. And I'm happy to have met him. That's
- 1:05:45awesome. Entrepreneurial. Yeah, I've never had
- 1:05:47a tech repair guy be like, hey i'll come to you
- 1:05:50and i'll help you out it was so awesome well
- 1:05:52he's a sole proprietor and he's he's doing what
- 1:05:54it takes to get business amazing how that works
- 1:05:57isn't it scott what do you what do you know speaking
- 1:06:01of doing what it takes to get business this is
- 1:06:04on theme as i was about to say there um for the
- 1:06:06last show where we were sort of illustrating
- 1:06:09the notion of uh you know these issues that get
- 1:06:12painted by media as black white or man woman
- 1:06:16or gay straight are almost always more left right
- 1:06:20they're political and this is along those same
- 1:06:23lines now this is out of spokane and we do have
- 1:06:27people in spokane of course the spook from spokane
- 1:06:29and others um who hear our program so i do want
- 1:06:32to play and i've also been this is the spokane
- 1:06:35indians baseball team i don't know if you ever
- 1:06:36been to an indians game i've been to spokane
- 1:06:39once never do a game you know the the city i've
- 1:06:43been to the town once one time yeah Maybe more
- 1:06:46than once. But I aim for only once. Once is all
- 1:06:49it takes, yeah. The Indians, yeah, are the R
- 1:06:53.A. Minor League Baseball Club. I've been to
- 1:06:55a few Indians games and I do enjoy watching me
- 1:06:57some live baseball, but here is the latest from
- 1:07:01the Spokane Indians. These Spokane Indians canceled
- 1:07:03their pride night this year. I knew it! Don't
- 1:07:20worry, we'll be gay in other ways. Well, but
- 1:07:25it's not just gay, dude. Remember, it's lesbian,
- 1:07:27it's gay, it's bisexual, it's transgender, it's
- 1:07:30ally, it's intersex, it's interstitial cystitis,
- 1:07:33it's... uh, you know, anti -disestablishment,
- 1:07:35tyrionism, et cetera. I mean, this is a community
- 1:07:38that is, I think the most narcissistic as a community
- 1:07:43that exists on planet earth. No other community,
- 1:07:47even the black community and the black community
- 1:07:49is pretty bad about this too, but the LGBT community,
- 1:07:53LGBTQ, whatever the weird, you know, the freaks
- 1:07:56and weirdos. are the most narcissistic bunch
- 1:07:58on planet Earth because only they get away with
- 1:08:02being upset when not everything is about them
- 1:08:04every time. Like, you know, this completely unrelated
- 1:08:08sports thing where we do for the love of the
- 1:08:10game. Yeah, we're not going to make a night or
- 1:08:13a week just about you being gay. We're just going
- 1:08:16to make it about baseball again. You've seen
- 1:08:18the shape of a baseball bat and then you have
- 1:08:20the baseballs. I mean, you know, My is my life
- 1:08:24a lie and America's greatest pastime is really
- 1:08:27just Symbolism for gayness. It's a that's a pretty
- 1:08:32deep sigh up Just saying and this is your friendly
- 1:08:36weekly reminder that there is no LGBT IQ a plus
- 1:08:40community There is no black community. Those
- 1:08:43are phony baloney political smoke screens what
- 1:08:46you're meaning to say The narcissists are the
- 1:08:50political lefties. In an email sent to Spokane
- 1:08:57Pride, the Spokane Indians clarified that Pride
- 1:08:59Night will not be on the schedule, citing that
- 1:09:02the team is constantly exploring new themes to
- 1:09:04engage the public, which occasionally means rotating
- 1:09:08certain themes out each season. Pride Night has
- 1:09:10been on the schedule for the last five seasons.
- 1:09:13Jake Schwartz, the president of Spokane Pride,
- 1:09:15emphasizes it's not about losing the game, but
- 1:09:18rather losing the opportunity for visibility
- 1:09:20at community events outside. the opportunity
- 1:09:24to proselytize. Yeah, exactly. Listen to that.
- 1:09:27First of all, notice that, oh, it's been on the
- 1:09:30schedule for the last five seasons, a .k .a.
- 1:09:32during the magnificent supreme fake presidency
- 1:09:36of Biden. So it's like, oh, don't worry. When
- 1:09:39a Democrat's back in office, we'll reinstitute
- 1:09:41pride night. Don't worry. But it's totally not
- 1:09:42political at all. It's about sexual orientation.
- 1:09:45And war will be cool again to the lefties. Oh
- 1:09:48right, of course. So again, I want to play that
- 1:09:50part again that you just mentioned because it's
- 1:09:53very jargonistic. It's like, what are you saying
- 1:09:56exactly? There would be the narcissist. And it's
- 1:10:09not because Jake Schwartz is gay. It's because
- 1:10:11Jake Schwartz is a communist. Seasons. Jake Schwartz,
- 1:10:14the president of Spokane Pride, emphasizes it's
- 1:10:17not about losing the game, but rather losing
- 1:10:19the opportunity for visibility at community events
- 1:10:22outside of the normal Pride celebration. OK,
- 1:10:25that's a lot of words. How are we going to get
- 1:10:27in front of the children? Well, they're saying
- 1:10:30how are we going to get in front of the children
- 1:10:31and the families? How are we going to evangelize?
- 1:10:35without gay days. They're just gonna have to
- 1:10:38do the old -fashioned way like the rest of us
- 1:10:40do. The opportunity for visibility at community
- 1:10:44events outside of the normal Pride celebration.
- 1:10:47In an environment where it feels like it's getting
- 1:10:50harder and harder to live out and open, it becomes
- 1:10:56much more difficult. These smaller events, which
- 1:10:59are just as important, bring that visibility
- 1:11:02to them too. Okay, Scott, pause this real quick.
- 1:11:06Again, there is a distinction here that is important
- 1:11:09to make. These children, because they act like
- 1:11:12they have the mental capacity of children apparently,
- 1:11:14and they behave like children, equate not having
- 1:11:18a day that is exclusively about them to not being
- 1:11:21able to live out in the open. When that is a
- 1:11:24completely false dichotomy, it's not true. That
- 1:11:26premise is completely false. It's a straw man.
- 1:11:28It's a red herring. It's all of the damn fallacies.
- 1:11:31Because for years and years and years now, vast
- 1:11:33majority of even political conservatives and
- 1:11:36even Christian conservatives, for the most part,
- 1:11:38have been like, yeah, no, we disagree with it.
- 1:11:40It's a lifestyle we don't really agree with.
- 1:11:42But ultimately, do you? We don't care. Just leave
- 1:11:47us alone. Just leave us the hell alone and we'll
- 1:11:51leave you alone. And that's largely been the
- 1:11:53philosophy on one side. Meanwhile, on Schwartz's
- 1:11:57side, it's basically if you don't celebrate us,
- 1:12:00well, then that means we're oppressed. And that's
- 1:12:03what he's saying. And there's a big distinction
- 1:12:05between tolerating something and celebrating
- 1:12:07something. And then forcing people to tolerate
- 1:12:10and celebrate things. That is exactly correct.
- 1:12:13And that is why the language is so important
- 1:12:16and why everything is a Trojan horse, basically.
- 1:12:20And if you allow the anti -cigarette people,
- 1:12:24I do not smoke cigarettes, by the way. This is
- 1:12:25just a comparison. allow the anti cigarette people
- 1:12:28like, no, you have to you you you businessman
- 1:12:32who wants to have your restaurant have smoking
- 1:12:34like, no, no, no, no, you got to go. They have
- 1:12:36to go to the bar area. You should have just said
- 1:12:38no there. You should have just said no, because
- 1:12:40then it's you got to go outside. And then it's
- 1:12:43you got to go 10 feet away from the building.
- 1:12:44And then it's you we're going to triple the tax
- 1:12:46on everything. No, no, you have to just cut them
- 1:12:48off at the pass. So when they start with tolerance,
- 1:12:51that's baloney, because then the next one is
- 1:12:53acceptance. And then the next one is celebration.
- 1:12:55If you do not sell Celebrate me, we're coming
- 1:12:57after you. And then it goes from celebration
- 1:13:00to coercion. You know, this is documented. We
- 1:13:04see this. Take this principle and apply it to
- 1:13:07anything, really, whether it's taxes, whether
- 1:13:09it's laws, regulations, whether it's the gay
- 1:13:12agenda, whether it's affirmative action type
- 1:13:14stuff. It's the same across the board. It starts
- 1:13:17with X and it ends in Y and Z every single time.
- 1:13:21But they, like you said, Trojan Horse didn't
- 1:13:23go, well, it's just about this one thing. It's
- 1:13:25just about tolerance. It's just about this. You
- 1:13:28know, why, why would you, how could you possibly
- 1:13:30be against this perfectly benign thing that we're
- 1:13:32bringing to the table here? It's just, it's just
- 1:13:36medical. It's just medical marijuana and it's
- 1:13:38just for glaucoma sufferers. Oh, so you're for
- 1:13:41glaucoma sufferers having pain. Is that it? No,
- 1:13:43I just know what your true goals are and you're
- 1:13:45full of crap. Which I agree with that agenda,
- 1:13:49but yes, they are full of crap. It's beside the
- 1:13:52point. It's a, it's the tactic that we're pointing
- 1:13:54out. Correct. That is correct. Bring that visibility
- 1:13:59to them too. So to see some of that being pulled
- 1:14:02back. I think our community is Fairly frustrated
- 1:14:06see now this this guy thinks he's speaking on
- 1:14:10behalf of what community he thinks he's speaking
- 1:14:13He's the president of the gays didn't you hear
- 1:14:15that's what I'm saying. He he did he is the supreme
- 1:14:20the chicken supreme leader of the LGBTQ community
- 1:14:25The problem is, there is no LGBT community. I'll
- 1:14:30illustrate that momentarily as soon as we're
- 1:14:31done with this clip. Fairly frustrated. And just
- 1:14:46like a parent explaining his decision to his
- 1:14:50petulant child, Avista Stadium and the Indians
- 1:14:53organization must explain to these petulant children
- 1:14:56why they no longer get a day that's just about
- 1:15:00them. In both the Pride Parade and Festival this
- 1:15:04summer. For this year, Spokane Pride is planning
- 1:15:07to work with other sports teams like the Spokane
- 1:15:09Velocity to bring themed nights this Pride season.
- 1:15:12Pride season. Okay. Oh, see what they did there.
- 1:15:16So now that not just a day, now it's a whole
- 1:15:19season. Well, it was a month. It was supposed
- 1:15:21to be a month. and then now I guess it's a season
- 1:15:24which is I guess it's once a quarter and But
- 1:15:27you know, I guess you get the three it's it's
- 1:15:29pride 365. That's the next campaign in any case
- 1:15:33here is I Guess somebody who's supposed to be
- 1:15:37a member of the non -existent LGBTQ plus community
- 1:15:41and yet he isn't Let it be known as a black and
- 1:15:44queer individual, the LGBTQ community does not
- 1:15:47speak on my behalf or yours. I don't want to
- 1:15:50be in that crowd. I don't want to be associated
- 1:15:52with that crowd. And just because of what I do
- 1:15:53behind a closed door, does that mean I have to
- 1:15:55assimilate and be with that and hype that up?
- 1:15:58I want nothing to do with this at all. This is
- 1:16:01another reason why gays don't even like pride
- 1:16:03parades. It's too political. It's too political.
- 1:16:05What are you doing here? The Palestine people
- 1:16:07and the pride and it going head and head. And
- 1:16:09it's all gays for Palestine. Which is just crazy
- 1:16:12to me. That is the majority of people who are
- 1:16:14on the left side of the political spectrum. These
- 1:16:17pride parades are not very welcoming of people
- 1:16:19with different ideas. It's fine if they're all
- 1:16:21for equality and inclusion if you think like
- 1:16:23them. If you don't think like them and you disagree
- 1:16:25with them, that's when you kind of cast it out.
- 1:16:27Like if you're an openly gay person who also
- 1:16:29likes Trump and votes for Trump, oh, you get
- 1:16:31torn up at a pride parade. Torn up. It's ridiculous.
- 1:16:35Torn up. That's one of the many reasons why I
- 1:16:37just do not like the pride parades because it's
- 1:16:38very political. You're not allowed to be yourself.
- 1:16:40See, that's what's crazy. So, but you're born
- 1:16:42this way, be yourself, accept yourself for who
- 1:16:44you are, love, acceptance, equality, up until
- 1:16:47you hear my viewpoints. You don't want to hear
- 1:16:49from me. Now you're upset at me. What happens
- 1:16:51if it's inclusivity? What happens if it's positivity?
- 1:16:53What happens if it's equality? You don't want
- 1:16:55to hear my voice now because I don't think like
- 1:16:56you? Sure. Cool. I do appreciate this gentleman
- 1:17:00speaking with an extra exaggerated lisp lest
- 1:17:04we confuse his orientation. I was going to mention
- 1:17:06it. Yeah, but I didn't want to be mean, but no,
- 1:17:10he definitely checks. He checks a lot of the
- 1:17:12boxes for sure. Although, but hey, what he says
- 1:17:16makes sense. And, and I respect him for that
- 1:17:19for sure. Like clearly he's got some critical
- 1:17:22thinking going on there and I can appreciate
- 1:17:24that. And the dude, if you're being black and
- 1:17:27gay, clearly going against the current in some,
- 1:17:30in some ways. And so he's probably heard it from
- 1:17:32a number of different communities about how He's
- 1:17:37not welcome. As a media deconstruction program,
- 1:17:42we're just here to remind you, don't let the
- 1:17:45media fool you with their disingenuous, propagandistic
- 1:17:48presentations of what this community or that
- 1:17:51community thinks. There are no communities that
- 1:17:54they are describing. They are describing political
- 1:17:57and intellectual thought processes, not skin
- 1:18:00color or sexual orientation. Those are smoke
- 1:18:03screens. Okay, let's move along here, I think
- 1:18:09the point is made, to the KCRCC and some more
- 1:18:15of the protester community that gathered around
- 1:18:18their latest gathering. ...gathered at the Coeur
- 1:18:22d 'Alene Resort tonight for the Kootenay County
- 1:18:24Republican Central Committee's annual Lincoln
- 1:18:26Day Dinner. However, this year's keynote speaker
- 1:18:29proved to be controversial. Former Congressman
- 1:18:31Matt Gaetz was invited to speak at the dinner,
- 1:18:34which prompted protests outside the resort from
- 1:18:37activism group Indivisible. Gaetz was ousted
- 1:18:39from public... Now, did you notice once again
- 1:18:42what was missing from what was missing before
- 1:18:46the word activist? They were... Not so had it
- 1:18:51been people more of like my volition or even
- 1:18:54people who were sort of adjacent, I suppose,
- 1:18:56on the spectrum to my to my politics, it would
- 1:18:58have been far right activists. But of course,
- 1:19:02here it's just plain old activists with a really
- 1:19:04nice American name of indivisible. was invited
- 1:19:08to speak at the dinner, which prompted protests
- 1:19:10outside the resort from activism group Indivisible.
- 1:19:14Gates was ousted from public service in 2024
- 1:19:16over sexual allegations with a minor. Protesters
- 1:19:19said inviting Gates into the Coeur d 'Alene community
- 1:19:22was a disgrace. He's not accepted in his own
- 1:19:25party, but how does he get to be a speaker of
- 1:19:27some value in the Republican Party in Coeur d
- 1:19:32'Alene? In a Facebook post, the KCRCC defended
- 1:19:35their decision for Gates, explaining their choice
- 1:19:37was based on budget, logistics and in the interest
- 1:19:40of fairness. We reached out to them for comment,
- 1:19:42but did not hear back by news time. So I know
- 1:19:47that tactic. It's quite possible when the when
- 1:19:50they, quote unquote, reached out for comment,
- 1:19:53they gave them like half a day or they reached
- 1:19:55out, you know, at noon. And this thing goes to
- 1:19:58press at three. That happened a lot with my dad.
- 1:20:03when he was NIC trustee is they'd quote unquote,
- 1:20:06reach out for comment. Dad would get the email
- 1:20:08with, you know, just 45 minutes to spare before
- 1:20:11the deadline. And he'd just be like, oh, all
- 1:20:14right, forget it. I'm not even going to try.
- 1:20:17That's that is not that is disingenuous. So my
- 1:20:20guess would be that's what happened as far as
- 1:20:23the press reaching out, because the KRCC is especially
- 1:20:26the president or the chairman, Brent Regan. He's
- 1:20:29pretty prolific in his communications. in the
- 1:20:32press and on Facebook and whatnot. So usually
- 1:20:34given an opportunity and a mic or a platform
- 1:20:37from which to speak, Regan or a few of the other
- 1:20:40top dogs there, they'll say something typically.
- 1:20:43So that would be my guess, at least as far as
- 1:20:45that little bit goes. As far as the Matt Gaetz
- 1:20:47things goes, meh, I could take it or leave it.
- 1:20:50Really what it is is just an opportunity for
- 1:20:52people who are already big mad to just be big
- 1:20:54mad and pat themselves on the back and thump
- 1:20:56their chests and feel good about. Do these people
- 1:21:00have jobs? How do these people have all the time
- 1:21:02to protest? I don't get that. How again and again
- 1:21:06and again? Who are these? It's got to be just
- 1:21:08the same like 150 people, charlatans and carpetbaggers,
- 1:21:12mainly boomers who trot out their grandchildren
- 1:21:15when it's when they're available to line the
- 1:21:17streets, hold up signs and say things like no
- 1:21:20kings and indivisible and we're against pedos,
- 1:21:23even though their entire political party is built
- 1:21:25by a pyramid scheme of pedos. It's hilarious.
- 1:21:29I don't know, man. It just sounded to me like
- 1:21:31they were indivisible activists for the Coeur
- 1:21:34d 'Alene community. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I'm sure
- 1:21:36they're just normal people like you and me who
- 1:21:39are totally sane and have a really good grasp
- 1:21:44on reality and what's going on. I mean, as far
- 1:21:47as the Gates things goes, is he a politician
- 1:21:49I appreciate or respect? No. Dude's kind of a
- 1:21:52lunatic. He had his moment in the sun and for
- 1:21:55a moment was almost kind of maybe going to be.
- 1:21:57helpful and useful to the freedom movement and
- 1:21:59then wasn't because he became a big bootlicker
- 1:22:01for Trump and militarism and everything else
- 1:22:03and maybe he is a scumbag who touched kids but
- 1:22:07both sides of the aisle definitely do not have
- 1:22:08the market cornered on pedophilia so this is
- 1:22:12just people who have an excuse to be big mad
- 1:22:14when they're already big mad the thing is is
- 1:22:17even if they did have a leg to stand on this
- 1:22:20is media deconstruction i'm I'm just presenting
- 1:22:24the disingenuous nature of the media's presentations
- 1:22:27on this sort of stuff, like omitting what kind
- 1:22:29of activist they are in this case, or using the
- 1:22:32word community all the time, like the Coeur d
- 1:22:34'Alene community. What is the Coeur d 'Alene
- 1:22:37community? What are these people talking about?
- 1:22:38I don't blame people like your dad for, you know,
- 1:22:43not engaging with these people because they're
- 1:22:45not reaching out to people like Todd Banducci
- 1:22:47in good faith. They're not attempting to report
- 1:22:49on the situation. They're going to, even if he
- 1:22:52did respond, I'm sure they would misconstrue
- 1:22:54it or take it out of context or do whatever it
- 1:22:56is they have to do to present whatever narrative
- 1:22:58there is that they're trying to present. Yeah,
- 1:23:02furthermore, and more as egregious or more egregious,
- 1:23:05they're aiding and abetting other charlatans
- 1:23:07and carpet bagging organizations like North Idaho
- 1:23:09Republicans. So the NIR, the organization known
- 1:23:13as North Idaho Republicans, which, by the way,
- 1:23:15none of them are actually Republicans. And if
- 1:23:17they are, they're the worst version of the East
- 1:23:19Coast Republicans that look just like Democrats.
- 1:23:22And so the NIR here, they basically are. They
- 1:23:25basically are Democrats. There's very little
- 1:23:28to distinguish them from Democrats in the way
- 1:23:30they live their lives and the policies that they
- 1:23:32push forward and the politics that they hold
- 1:23:34and express the way they do everything. They
- 1:23:37are Democrats. They're not Republicans, but they
- 1:23:39want the power. They have a lot of the power
- 1:23:41already, but they're trying to infiltrate the
- 1:23:43KRCC. So they have really, really attacked the
- 1:23:48KCRCC. for the last few years, as they also have
- 1:23:51infiltrated it, they've attacked it. And as long
- 1:23:53as they don't hold full power over this organization,
- 1:23:55they will continue to attack it. The moment that
- 1:23:58they hold power over this organization, they
- 1:24:01will stop attacking it and they will be happy
- 1:24:03and things will quiet down. You'll see, because
- 1:24:05it's going to happen at some point. I'm sure
- 1:24:07they'll, they'll find a way to, to have enough
- 1:24:09precinct committee men to take charge for five
- 1:24:11or 10 years again. And all of a sudden everything
- 1:24:14will be peaceful. We all quiet on the Western
- 1:24:16front. but this organization makes full use of
- 1:24:19an event like this and has ginned up a lot of
- 1:24:22the drama and the trauma and the outrage, the
- 1:24:25mostly faux outrage, so that the mainstream media
- 1:24:29will get in on it and continue to whip it up
- 1:24:31and gin it up. And then it's a self -fulfilling
- 1:24:33cycle and prophecy and the outrage gets bigger
- 1:24:37and bigger. And, you know, and the main goal
- 1:24:40being to discredit the current leadership of
- 1:24:43the KR, the KCRCC, which by the way, I'm not
- 1:24:47blindly defending that organization. I don't
- 1:24:50agree with them on everything, and I don't agree
- 1:24:52with everybody in there, for sure, not even close.
- 1:24:55But most of the head honchos there and most of
- 1:24:58the candidates that they put forward are objectively
- 1:25:01what they are supposed to be, and that is conservative
- 1:25:05Republicans. So they are doing their, they are
- 1:25:07functioning as they're supposed to function,
- 1:25:0990 % at least. And the NIR, or the Idaho Republicans,
- 1:25:13with the help aided and abetted by the mainstream
- 1:25:15media, Oh, because by the way, one owns the other
- 1:25:19gin up outrage with events just like this. It's
- 1:25:24all by design. So to your point, Scott, it is
- 1:25:27all disingenuous. It's by design. It is all part
- 1:25:30of the mainstream narrative. And that is why
- 1:25:32we're here breaking it down and giving commentary
- 1:25:35on it. You do a better job of pointing it out
- 1:25:37than I do. So what I'm trying to do is just give
- 1:25:40background to kind of the players and the why
- 1:25:42and the what's going on behind the scenes. Let's
- 1:25:46do an Ask Paul. I need a jingle, I just realized,
- 1:25:50for the introduction to the Ask Paul segments.
- 1:25:53So I don't know if anyone out there has the ability
- 1:25:56to make one. I would love to get an Ask Paul
- 1:25:58jingle. I will also make one at some point here.
- 1:26:03This one is a doozy. How much? So that's gonna
- 1:26:11be the Ask Paul is how much. So let's start it
- 1:26:13again and I'll let it play through. dollars in
- 1:26:19damages after she wrongly accused a University
- 1:26:21of Idaho professor of being involved in the murders
- 1:26:24of four students. A federal jury ruled Friday
- 1:26:28that Ashley Gillard made false statements accusing
- 1:26:31Rebecca Schofield of orchestrating the killings
- 1:26:34and having an inappropriate relationship with
- 1:26:36the student. Gillard used TikTok tarred card
- 1:26:39readings to spread those claims, which drew millions
- 1:26:42of views online. How much was she ordered to
- 1:26:47pay? Ten million dollars. Whoa, did you read
- 1:26:55that one? Did you already know? No. Wow. No,
- 1:26:58I didn't. Did I get it? Oh my god. TikTok influencer
- 1:27:02has been ordered to pay ten million dollars in
- 1:27:04damages. Yeah! How did you do that? Are you serious?
- 1:27:08Yeah, no, I didn't know. I didn't know this was
- 1:27:10even a thing until you just brought it up. I'm
- 1:27:11actually, I was thinking about how I was shocked
- 1:27:14by the, shocked I say, by the fact that it was
- 1:27:19done in a TikTok video reading tarot cards so
- 1:27:22much. While I was thinking about the number in
- 1:27:24my head, my first thought was actually a question,
- 1:27:26which was who the hell even watches shit like
- 1:27:29that? People turning over tarot cards, and then
- 1:27:31who would take that seriously? It blows my mind.
- 1:27:35You had millions of views and who the hell knows
- 1:27:37if these numbers are real or not, but apparently
- 1:27:39it wasn't real enough to get on the radar. of,
- 1:27:42you know, people who she was speaking of. And
- 1:27:45then they, I guess, sued or whatever. But, yeah,
- 1:27:47I mean, I thought that was an insane number for
- 1:27:50just some individual tick talker. I mean, well,
- 1:27:53you know, it tipped me off on the number and
- 1:27:55why I kind of figured because it said it got
- 1:27:57millions of views. So it's now like now it's
- 1:27:59a federal issue. And it also said federal court.
- 1:28:02So federal court is a big deal. First off, it's
- 1:28:04expensive. So if you bring a lawsuit, you're
- 1:28:06already going to be asking for a big number because
- 1:28:09you're talking you're talking anywhere from like
- 1:28:1120 to 50 grand a day in lawyers fees just to
- 1:28:15take some shit to court at the federal level.
- 1:28:17It ain't cheap. So you got to make the number
- 1:28:19big enough for that. Secondly, millions of views.
- 1:28:23I'm thinking, you know, that could be two to
- 1:28:25five million views. And, you know, so then you
- 1:28:27can make it sound sensible to a judge and be
- 1:28:30like, yeah, we're asking for two, two dollars
- 1:28:32a view, five times five million views, 10 million
- 1:28:35dollars restitution. You know, it had national
- 1:28:38reach, global reach. So I don't know. It was
- 1:28:40a number that made sense. But true story. I didn't
- 1:28:42know about this until the moment you brought
- 1:28:44it up. Amazing. The jury awarded $5 million for
- 1:28:48the murder allegations and $3 .5 million for
- 1:28:52the relationship claims. Gillard represented
- 1:28:55herself throughout the trial. Interesting. Interesting
- 1:28:58choice. OK, which is probably sued for 10 mil
- 1:29:01for the max. Yeah. Yeah. Clearly not an intelligent
- 1:29:06individual. I mean, all signs point to not the
- 1:29:12best among us. What a time to be alive. You know,
- 1:29:15I don't know. Are you sure she's not the president
- 1:29:16of the tarot card reading community? It's possible.
- 1:29:21I'm not sure about anything anymore. Up is down,
- 1:29:23down is up. People watch TikToks about other
- 1:29:25people reading tarot cards about murder suspects.
- 1:29:28In the millions, yeah. Blows my ever -loving
- 1:29:32mind. Now, you know, you say up is down and left
- 1:29:35is right, but there is one thing in the universe
- 1:29:37that is, as ever, predictable and on schedule
- 1:29:40and not surprising whatsoever. Wait, I know what
- 1:29:43it is. You do? Government wanting your money.
- 1:29:47Okay, well, you're right. But this one is even
- 1:29:50more on the nose. The search is now on for a
- 1:29:52new sheriff of Shoshone County. Sheriff William
- 1:29:55Eddie after being appointed three and a half
- 1:29:57months ago. He says he is stepping down due to
- 1:30:00medical reasons and stress. During his time as
- 1:30:03sheriff, there was a deadly shooting at the public
- 1:30:05safety building in Wallace. That was in December.
- 1:30:08So there, you know, the sun is rising in the
- 1:30:10East, setting in the West and Shoshone needs
- 1:30:12a new sheriff. Two people were hurt. Shoshone
- 1:30:14needs a new sheriff. to county commissioners
- 1:30:18declaring they had no confidence in Sheriff Eddie,
- 1:30:21citing how he handled the shooting and his lack
- 1:30:23of qualifications for the administrative tasks
- 1:30:25of sheriff. He released a statement reading in
- 1:30:28part quote, serving Shoshone County in this capacity
- 1:30:31has been one of the greatest honors of my professional
- 1:30:33life. I am grateful for the support I have received
- 1:30:36from county leadership and the citizens of this
- 1:30:39community. My favorite version of that support
- 1:30:41was when I got the letter of no confidence from
- 1:30:43every sheriff within a 500 mile radius. I'll
- 1:30:47bet. that poor guy. I don't know anything about
- 1:30:50anybody over there in the silver valley really.
- 1:30:53I don't, but could you imagine being that poor
- 1:30:57dude who steps in and almost immediately has
- 1:31:00to deal with a Christmas time shooting and has
- 1:31:04to deal with, with the leftover nonsense from
- 1:31:07the dead hunters from a couple of months prior
- 1:31:09and stepping into a spot where it had already,
- 1:31:12the guy before him resigned. And they're dealing
- 1:31:15with officer troubles with underling officers
- 1:31:18having to like resign because they've been arrested
- 1:31:21for other issues. I mean, just stepping into
- 1:31:23that is a nightmare to begin with. Poor guy.
- 1:31:25I don't know if he deserved that mess or not.
- 1:31:27Probably not. But poor bastard. I wonder who
- 1:31:31they're going to pick. I wonder who they're going
- 1:31:33to pick to fill in now. Like what what moron
- 1:31:36wants that job now? I don't know if anybody would
- 1:31:38want that job. Anybody anybody worth the job
- 1:31:41might not want that job now. Be like, yeah, I
- 1:31:43know. That's okay. Yeah, with each one of these
- 1:31:48incidents, it does become seems like it would
- 1:31:51be a very difficult ask, big ask. Truly. Yeah.
- 1:31:55I mean, anybody who's paying attention or does
- 1:31:58their homework on this position is going to is
- 1:32:00first off, right off the bat, going to have to
- 1:32:02demand an untenable salary. There's no way anybody
- 1:32:05will step into it for less than I don't know.
- 1:32:07I don't even know what the going rate for Sashone
- 1:32:09Sheriff is now. I know, you know, I know you're
- 1:32:12past the six figures, I'm pretty sure for Kootenay
- 1:32:14County, of course, because it's much, much bigger
- 1:32:16County. But I'm sure whoever step into this will
- 1:32:20be asking for six figures plus platinum, Benny's
- 1:32:23plus a therapist, plus a full -time therapist
- 1:32:25in the office on retainer, just following you
- 1:32:28around with a new couch, one of those medical
- 1:32:31leather bags, like, uh, like, uh, like Hitler's
- 1:32:34personal physician that was shooting them up
- 1:32:35with amphetamine around. Yeah. So, you know,
- 1:32:42new sheriff rolls up to some corner of the town
- 1:32:44after a fresh meth shooting and he's like, Oh
- 1:32:46my God, it's, it looks like I picked the wrong
- 1:32:49day to quit amphetamines. Turns over to his,
- 1:32:51uh, his accountant looking handbag carrying an
- 1:32:54assistant. He's like, hit me. It goes, whatever
- 1:32:57you say, boss. Here you go. Take three. So speaking
- 1:33:00of, uh, that's better. You didn't know this might
- 1:33:02be a, a little bit of an easier position to a
- 1:33:05point. Um, six figure law enforcement. What do
- 1:33:09you call them? Candidate finalists? City of Coeur
- 1:33:10d 'Alene has released its short list of candidates
- 1:33:12for its next chief of police. And there's a familiar
- 1:33:15face on that list. Former Spokane police chief
- 1:33:18Craig Meidel is one of the finalists. He left
- 1:33:20SPD in 2023 and has recently been serving as
- 1:33:23the interim police chief in Richland. The other
- 1:33:25candidates include the current temporary Coeur
- 1:33:28d 'Alene police chief, Dave Hager. Chief Jake
- 1:33:30Fisher from the El Monte Police Department of
- 1:33:33California, and Deputy Chief Gray Yeager from
- 1:33:36Fort Collins, Colorado. City Minister Albrecht
- 1:33:38Jacobsen says selecting a police chief is one
- 1:33:41of the most significant decisions they can make,
- 1:33:43writing the chief sets the tone for accountability,
- 1:33:46integrity, and trust between members of the department,
- 1:33:48the rest of the city team, community partnerships,
- 1:33:51and the citizens. Yeah, the police chief is super
- 1:33:54important because the police chief is essentially
- 1:33:56the city council and the mayor's lapdog. That's
- 1:33:59the truth. The police chief does what they want
- 1:34:02and what they say, which is why Chief White,
- 1:34:05we're outgoing Chief White, did exactly what
- 1:34:08the city council wanted the whole time and basically
- 1:34:10went after conservatives when it was politically
- 1:34:13expedient and convenient and failed to go after
- 1:34:15anybody on the left ever for his entire tenure.
- 1:34:18Any time something went down that involved one
- 1:34:20side or the other political spectrum, it'll be
- 1:34:22the same thing here. And notice to your point,
- 1:34:25Scott, every single candidate from a blue state.
- 1:34:28from a blue town in a blue state. Yes. And in
- 1:34:31particular, Fort Collins is a particularly blue
- 1:34:34town. That's by design. That is 100 percent on
- 1:34:36purpose because it matches it matches the mayor
- 1:34:40and the city council and the town administrator,
- 1:34:42Ron Jacobson. It matches them all perfectly.
- 1:34:44But I love how they all still keep trying to
- 1:34:46say that they are Republicans or that they are
- 1:34:48even a smidgen of conservative. What a laugh.
- 1:34:51Look at what people do, not what people say.
- 1:34:54Yeah, we used to call the role of what police
- 1:34:57chiefs and largely what a lot of cops these days
- 1:35:00do. Anyways, we used to we had a better word
- 1:35:02for it. It was mercenary because it was an accurate
- 1:35:05word. You'd travel from place to place. You'd
- 1:35:07get paid to put people down, to put the peasants
- 1:35:09down. You got paid to do what the nobles, the
- 1:35:13political class told you to do. You put down
- 1:35:15who they told you to put down. You would stop
- 1:35:17and frisk and seize and harass and extort the
- 1:35:21peasants who couldn't fight you. Whether it was
- 1:35:23traffic tickets or hey, what do you got in that
- 1:35:26wagon over there? Are those untaxed cabbages?
- 1:35:28The job hasn't changed. The name has changed.
- 1:35:31Now we call it Police Chief, but it used to be
- 1:35:33Head Merc. Well, the sun is rising in the east
- 1:35:39and setting in the west and Shoshone needs a
- 1:35:41new sheriff and the Mercs are attempting to extract
- 1:35:46the last little bit of their budget. Where did
- 1:35:48I? The last you know, they can't they need they
- 1:35:51need over 100 % of last year's budget or else
- 1:35:54all will all in the world will collapse The Idaho
- 1:35:57Senate voted to cut the state's current year
- 1:36:00budget by more than 130 million dollars on Monday.
- 1:36:04Okay, they say by what 1 % Okay, remember media
- 1:36:09deconstruction. So what are they doing here?
- 1:36:12And that they would be doing the opposite if
- 1:36:15the if the percentage was high they would give,
- 1:36:19so they're doing the number here. 131 million
- 1:36:23and they're emphasizing it to make it sound like
- 1:36:25a lot when in point of fact what you just said
- 1:36:27is actually an exaggeration total state expenditures
- 1:36:29for Fiscal the last fiscal year for the state
- 1:36:32of Idaho was over 14 billion dollars We're talking
- 1:36:35point nine percent of the budget, but this is
- 1:36:38presented as if some massive amount of money
- 1:36:40There's some massive short the Idaho Senate voted
- 1:36:43to well, it is massive. Yes It is but percentage
- 1:36:46wise based on what Idaho spends. It's nothing.
- 1:36:48It's nothing at all The media is a rounding error.
- 1:36:51Media would give the percentage if it was a very
- 1:36:55tiny, if they wanted to illustrate the opposite
- 1:36:57point to whenever they use the percentage. Correct.
- 1:36:59Ask yourself what the absolute number is. And
- 1:37:01when they use the absolute number, ask yourself
- 1:37:02what the percentages by more than one hundred
- 1:37:04percent. You know, in dollars on Monday that
- 1:37:07they say to head off a projected budget deficit.
- 1:37:11Republican lawmakers here typically like cutting
- 1:37:13budgets, especially in an election year. Like
- 1:37:16that's a bad thing. It's not and so that that
- 1:37:19isn't even a true statements begin of deconstructing
- 1:37:21because the state I've said it three times. I
- 1:37:23think on three different podcasts. I'm going
- 1:37:25to say it again. The state budget has increased
- 1:37:2766 % over seven years. That is massive. So that
- 1:37:34is a bald -faced lie to say that our legislators
- 1:37:38really like cutting budgets. The hell they do.
- 1:37:41Look at what the budget's done. I did receive,
- 1:37:44I wish it was written down. I have some other
- 1:37:46stuff that he actually wrote in, but at this
- 1:37:49part he actually just mentioned on the phone,
- 1:37:50so I'll try to reiterate what he said. This is
- 1:37:52from Matt Todd, the host of the Ranch podcast
- 1:37:55down out of the Treasure Valley. He was saying
- 1:37:58that there is, yes, that budget increase is huge,
- 1:38:02but if you account for... inflation and population
- 1:38:06growth, that it's actually sort of right on pace
- 1:38:09with both of those things. So taken in a vacuum,
- 1:38:12yes, it is a lot. But if you account for everything
- 1:38:14else that's going sort of with that, then it's
- 1:38:17it's like on pace and reasonable. Those are not
- 1:38:20his words. Like I said, I'm just sort of paraphrasing,
- 1:38:22you know, a version of what he told me. But that
- 1:38:25actually well, that's a national memo. That's
- 1:38:27a memo, Scott, that's been rolling around the
- 1:38:29state of Idaho by again by the elites. In fact,
- 1:38:32Jim Woodward, Senator from District 1, my district
- 1:38:36up here in Bonner County, the reason Woodward
- 1:38:40exists is because the town of Sandpoint, it's
- 1:38:43garbage. He's not a Republican, but there's an
- 1:38:45R next to his name. He put out a letter just
- 1:38:48two weeks ago using those exact same talking
- 1:38:50points, basically accusing conservatives of being
- 1:38:53hatchet -hat, himself and his cohorts of being
- 1:38:57the reasonable ones because, well, state growth...
- 1:38:59and inflation have made this humongous budget
- 1:39:02increase, but it actually then is more reasonable
- 1:39:04through this lens. So defending it and those
- 1:39:08two talking points have made the rounds through
- 1:39:10from up North here with Jim Woodward, all the
- 1:39:12way down through Boise. And they're all, they're
- 1:39:14all making the rounds. They're all saying the
- 1:39:15same shit, just like, just like the AP news.
- 1:39:18So it's the same memo. What's the counter to
- 1:39:21it. Then they circulate the same memo. The counter
- 1:39:24to it is that the population has not increased.
- 1:39:28as much as the budget has. So it's not a one
- 1:39:31for one. Number two is if things are being governed
- 1:39:36the way they say they're being governed and they're
- 1:39:38supposed to be governed, that population growth
- 1:39:39is largely supposed to pay for itself and yet
- 1:39:41it's not. So why is it not paying for itself?
- 1:39:44Who are you letting in that are not productive?
- 1:39:46Who are we bringing in or advertising to or who
- 1:39:49are we working with here who's showing up and
- 1:39:50then not producing? Because we do have an income
- 1:39:53tax here that's supposed to cover stuff, plus
- 1:39:54gas tax, property tax, all the tax, tax, tax,
- 1:39:57tax, tax. So it should be self -sustaining, and
- 1:39:59it's not. And the other argument is most of what
- 1:40:04the state of Idaho government does, it shouldn't
- 1:40:06be doing anyways, because it's not the role of
- 1:40:07government to be doing. So tough shit. Cut it.
- 1:40:10Get rid of it. Stop taxing us. Inflation is not
- 1:40:14our fault. It's your fault. That's true. For
- 1:40:16accepting federal funds. Yep. See, here's the
- 1:40:18other thing. When Medicaid got expanded, one
- 1:40:20of the arguments for Medicaid, why we should
- 1:40:22expand it here in the state of Idaho, I was against
- 1:40:25it, as a lot of us who understand economics were.
- 1:40:28was that it was gonna create budgetary shortfalls.
- 1:40:31Shocker, five years later, here it is, budgetary
- 1:40:33shortfalls. And it's almost all exclusively because
- 1:40:35of education, which is, I'm using that term loosely,
- 1:40:38state -run schools, I should say, and Medicaid.
- 1:40:41But the argument, one of the big ones was, well,
- 1:40:44the federal funding will cover that gap. Okay,
- 1:40:48federal funding is money that is either A, stolen
- 1:40:51from us anyways, or B, mostly printed out of
- 1:40:54thin air. Air go. adding to inflationary expenses.
- 1:40:59And inflation is just a tax by another name and
- 1:41:01a very pernicious one at that. That's what inflation
- 1:41:03is. It's another tax. So when states adopt programs
- 1:41:07and then use those programs to get more federal
- 1:41:11aid and money from the feds that is being printed
- 1:41:13out of thin air, the state of Idaho's own policies
- 1:41:15contributed to higher inflation. So not my fault,
- 1:41:18not my problem, other than the fact that we have
- 1:41:20to deal with inflation, spucking up our currency.
- 1:41:23That part's my problem on an individual level.
- 1:41:26But that's what I would say to these people is
- 1:41:28you piss off, cut this stuff. Your policies are
- 1:41:32the reason we're in this mess. All right, let's
- 1:41:36finish this clip. This one hundred and thirty
- 1:41:39one point three million dollar cut includes the
- 1:41:41governor's three percent holdbacks last year.
- 1:41:44But some say it goes too far. Republican Senator
- 1:41:47Trig Burt says the Joint Finance and Appropriations
- 1:41:50Committee should have been more strategic with
- 1:41:52their plan. It's easy to just add one percent
- 1:41:55onto the top and call it good. However, it's
- 1:41:57tough to take a scalpel and dig deep and figure
- 1:42:00out which budgets really need to be cut. JFAC
- 1:42:04members like Republican Senator Cody Galloway
- 1:42:07defended the bill. She says taking a, quote,
- 1:42:10very dramatic approach is the only way to balance
- 1:42:13the budget this year. There is no way that you
- 1:42:16can take a scalpel effectively to 100 budgets
- 1:42:18with 100 people that have to agree on that. Idaho
- 1:42:21has more than one point five billion dollars
- 1:42:24in its rainy day accounts. The bill now goes
- 1:42:26to the House. Everybody talks about how the government
- 1:42:30spends too much. I mean, even lefties, sometimes
- 1:42:33you can get them to admit at least a little bit.
- 1:42:35The government spends too much or, yeah, we kind
- 1:42:37of we kind of have a problem, either whether
- 1:42:39it's Idaho or the national debt, which stands
- 1:42:41at, you know, thirty five trillion dollars. And
- 1:42:44even they have to admit, yeah, that's that's
- 1:42:46a lot. But nobody wants their stuff cut. And
- 1:42:51that's why we can't, that's why nothing ever
- 1:42:53gets cut. Even, and Republicans and conservatives,
- 1:42:56what about this? Like all the, all the conservative
- 1:42:58boomers who are getting social security right
- 1:43:00now, if I were to tell them to save your grandchildren
- 1:43:04and your great grandchildren, would you take,
- 1:43:05you know, cut social security? They won't do
- 1:43:08it. They'll bitch and moan and they'll throw
- 1:43:10a bunch of noise up about how they earned it
- 1:43:11and they worked and all that kind of stuff. Nevermind
- 1:43:13the fact that in their generation and the one
- 1:43:16before them are the big reason why we are where
- 1:43:18we are now because of 50 years of bad fiscal
- 1:43:21and monetary policies. But they'll be like, oh,
- 1:43:25no, I'm not. No, don't don't you touch that.
- 1:43:27I earned that. I earned that. It's like, OK,
- 1:43:31so you basically sold your kids, your grandkids
- 1:43:34and your great grandkids down river so you could
- 1:43:38suck everything out that you could. And that's
- 1:43:41and that's what they're and that's human nature.
- 1:43:44That's where we're at. Nobody wants to cut. their
- 1:43:47department. Nobody wants to cut their budget.
- 1:43:49Nobody wants to cut their benefits. In everybody's
- 1:43:53mind, they deserve it. They've worked for it.
- 1:43:55Or even if they can't justify that they deserve
- 1:43:57it or work for it, they still recognize the fact
- 1:43:59that they are a leech on the system one way or
- 1:44:01the other, whether it's a bureaucrat or somebody
- 1:44:02collecting benefits. You are a leech. You're
- 1:44:04not a producer. You're a leech. They don't want
- 1:44:06to say it out loud, but nobody wants that gravy
- 1:44:08train to stop. So yeah, 0 .9 % of a budget cut
- 1:44:12and people are up in arms. Give me a break. Well,
- 1:44:17hopefully our supreme magnificent superlative
- 1:44:21God King leaders can figure it out I'm sure they
- 1:44:25will I'm sure they'll do a great job of selling
- 1:44:27their great -grandchildren and great -great -grandchildren
- 1:44:30Further down the river Yeah, and then and then
- 1:44:34write write articles about how they don't owe
- 1:44:37us crap and then and then send them to us. Yeah
- 1:44:40See, we don't owe you anything because so say
- 1:44:43someone, some other boomer wrote this article
- 1:44:46that I agree with. So I just want, even though
- 1:44:49you never said I owe you anything, I'm still
- 1:44:51just going to announce to you that I don't know
- 1:44:52your shit. The truth is, as we all know, that's
- 1:44:55millennials and Zennials and Gen Z and Alpha
- 1:44:58are just stupid and lazy. And it's all that avocado
- 1:45:00toast. But the reason why we can't afford housing,
- 1:45:03it can't be because of. regulations, zoning laws,
- 1:45:07NIMBYs, NIMBYs is N -I -M -B -Y, not in my backyard,
- 1:45:12NIMBYs who don't want building anywhere around
- 1:45:14them, terrible zoning laws. Because you entitled
- 1:45:17little, little, little, you know, you like Starbucks
- 1:45:21too much. Yeah, it can't be because housing policies
- 1:45:25at the local and state levels have basically
- 1:45:28made housing costs 25 % more than it should.
- 1:45:32And that's just a jumping off point. It can't
- 1:45:36be that. It can't be the fact that the non -gold
- 1:45:39-backed dollar now is worth less than 1 % of
- 1:45:42what it was in 1913, and it's worth 21 % of what
- 1:45:48it was worth in the year 2000. In 26 years, Scott,
- 1:45:52the dollar has lost 79 % of its value. So that
- 1:45:55can't have anything to do with it either. No,
- 1:45:58no, no. It never has anything to do with that.
- 1:46:01Yeah, or the fact that we want housing or a house
- 1:46:04to be an asset while not understanding that something
- 1:46:07can't Simultaneously serve as an asset and a
- 1:46:10commodity Commodities are cheap assets are supposed
- 1:46:13to grow One thing you got to like about Trump
- 1:46:16is that when he when he and he does lie a lot
- 1:46:18But I think he believes his lies because he's
- 1:46:20that much of a narcissist that he believes what
- 1:46:22he says I think I really do think 95 % of the
- 1:46:26time or more he actually believes what he's saying
- 1:46:27It just so happens that 75 % of the time it is
- 1:46:30completely detached from reality. But that 20
- 1:46:33to 25 percent, maybe even less than that, I'm
- 1:46:35being generous. But when he nails it, he really
- 1:46:39nails it, whether he means to or not. One of
- 1:46:41the times he nailed it recently about housing
- 1:46:43was when they straight up asked him like, what
- 1:46:46are you going to do about housing? And he goes,
- 1:46:47well, we were going to make it cheaper. We were
- 1:46:49going to enact some legislation. I'm paraphrasing,
- 1:46:51but basically we had some legislation ideas for
- 1:46:53how we could deregulate housing and make it less
- 1:46:55expensive. But then we realized that all the
- 1:46:57boomers like having expensive houses because
- 1:47:00it makes up a big part of their net worth. So
- 1:47:02we don't want to ruin that for the older folks
- 1:47:04whose net worth is tied up into their houses.
- 1:47:06So we can't make it cheaper. Besides, we don't
- 1:47:08want to make it cheaper because we want to make
- 1:47:10sure that people who have worked hard enough
- 1:47:11to afford a house can afford a house, but only
- 1:47:13if they've worked hard enough. At least he told
- 1:47:16the truth. Sure. Yeah. Hey, can we make housing
- 1:47:20cheaper? Yeah, we could. But that's a bad thing.
- 1:47:22It's a yeah. No, we need to make sure the boomers
- 1:47:25because they're 5000 square foot houses because
- 1:47:28downsizing is just we just they don't do that.
- 1:47:31So you'll forgive me downsizing is for poor people.
- 1:47:34Right. All right. Well, this is really great.
- 1:47:38I feel like we should end it with this. I mean,
- 1:47:40when are we ever happy? I've had fun. All right.
- 1:47:45Until our bet is over until next time from Post
- 1:47:48Falls. I'm Scott and I'm Paul taxation is theft.
- 1:47:56I'm happy that the supreme leader is dead, and
- 1:47:59now I want a constitutional supreme leader.
