Latest / Just Be True ~ A Soul-Led Podcast / Releasing the Idenity of the Fixer & Doer
Transcript
- 0:14Hello and welcome back to Just Be True, a soul
- 0:18-led podcast. So happy to be back. I took a little
- 0:23bit of a time off, hiatus, I guess you would
- 0:26say. to restructure how this works, not only
- 0:31the podcast, but also all the material that's
- 0:34surrounding it. Because with each podcast, I
- 0:37do a newsletter that goes out with it. Many times
- 0:42I also create a meditation that goes with it
- 0:46and updates on my website. So just wanted to
- 0:50kind of reframe how all of that was doing. um
- 0:53got a plan got a new structure for everything
- 0:57so we're ready to kick off and we're also going
- 1:00to be doing seasons so exciting so um this is
- 1:06going to be officially season one episode one
- 1:09and it's going to be um eight um episodes and
- 1:16they are going to be going out every other week
- 1:19Instead of every week going forward. And then
- 1:22in between, there's going to be like a two or
- 1:26three, maybe even a four -week break in between
- 1:29seasons to recalibrate, refocus, and get the
- 1:34themes ready for season two. So super excited
- 1:39that you're back with me. And so just, you know,
- 1:43just want to reiterate that this podcast. was
- 1:47born from a deep desire to live authentically,
- 1:50to strip away the masks, the expectations, and
- 1:54the old stories and remember who we truly are.
- 1:58Each episode, we explore what it means to live
- 2:02in harmony with your soul's truth through real
- 2:05conversations, intuitive guidance, and powerful
- 2:09moments of reflection. And today, Our episode
- 2:13is releasing the identity of the fixer and the
- 2:17doer, right? It's something that many of us find
- 2:24ourselves in, is being the fixer and the doer
- 2:28for everyone and everything around us. So we're
- 2:31going to work on that. We're going to work on
- 2:32releasing the identity of the fixer, releasing
- 2:36the identity of the doer, and asking the gentle.
- 2:41Honest question, who are you when you no longer
- 2:46need to hold everything together? Who are you?
- 2:53So, many of us learned early in life that being
- 2:58needed meant being safe, that being useful meant
- 3:03being loved, and that anticipating others' needs
- 3:08meant belonging. We became the emotional glue,
- 3:14the steady one, the capable one, the one who
- 3:19figures it all out. Not because we were told
- 3:22to, but because something in us sensed that this
- 3:27is how I survive. This is how I matter. And this
- 3:33is how I stay connected. And at the time, it
- 3:37worked. It protected us. It carried us. It helped
- 3:42us navigate moments we hadn't yet had language
- 3:46for. So I want to say this, first of all, there's
- 3:50nothing wrong with the fixer and there is nothing
- 3:53wrong with the doer. These were intelligent adaptations,
- 3:59sacred survival strategies that we had developed
- 4:04over the years. But there comes a moment in our
- 4:08evolution where what once protected us begins
- 4:13to quietly limit. Many of you may be feeling
- 4:19right now a subtle fatigue, a distanced interest
- 4:24in constantly managing. And I want to slow that
- 4:29down for a moment because this isn't theoretical
- 4:32for me. I've been there. Being the one who always
- 4:39has to take care of things. Making sure the groceries
- 4:42are purchased. Making sure the bills are paid.
- 4:44Making sure the kids are ready for school. Making
- 4:47sure everything's handled. Holding the mental
- 4:49load. Holding the emotional load. Holding the
- 4:52invisible responsibilities that rarely get named.
- 4:57And I don't say this with resentment. I say it
- 5:00with honesty. Because over time, that way of
- 5:05living truly just became exhausting. Not in a
- 5:10dramatic way, not in a collapse, but a quiet,
- 5:15steady, soul, deep, tired. The kind of tired
- 5:23that doesn't mean something's wrong. The kind
- 5:26of tired that means something in you. is ready
- 5:32to soften something in you is ready to be supported
- 5:37something in you is ready to release the idea
- 5:42that you no longer have to carry it at all releasing
- 5:49the fixer doesn't mean you stop caring it doesn't
- 5:54mean you stop helping others It only means you
- 6:01stop over -functioning. So you may notice you
- 6:08don't feel pulled to solve everyone's problems.
- 6:12You don't feel energized by over -functioning.
- 6:18You don't want to carry what is no longer yours.
- 6:23And that can feel very unsettling. Because if
- 6:29you're not fixing, if you're not doing, if you're
- 6:32not holding it all together, who are you? If
- 6:39you're not the fixer, you're not the doer, you're
- 6:42not taking care of everything and making everything
- 6:44work and making everything managed, simply ask
- 6:48yourself, who am I? Here's what I've come to
- 6:54understand through my own journey. And through
- 6:57my work with Reiki, energy healing and spiritual
- 7:00channeling and connecting with my higher self
- 7:04above all, connecting with my higher self, much
- 7:09of our fixer and doer identity isn't just mental.
- 7:14It lives in our nervous system. It lives in our
- 7:18body. It lives in our energetic field. It can
- 7:23show up as hypervigilance. constant scanning,
- 7:28tight shoulders, shallow breath, and difficult
- 7:33resting without guilt. These patterns often formed
- 7:40long before we had adult consciousness. And because
- 7:44they formed early in our lives, they don't unwind
- 7:49through mindset alone. They don't unwind. through
- 7:55just thinking about it. They unwind through safety,
- 8:01through gentleness, through the body learning.
- 8:07I don't have to brace anymore. I don't have to
- 8:14be on guard. I don't have to earn my right to
- 8:20exist as my existence. is enough, and I am worthy.
- 8:29This is where spiritual and energetic work becomes
- 8:35so powerful. Not as saying something that fixes
- 8:41you, but as something that reminds you who you
- 8:45were before those roles. When I work with my
- 8:50clients through Reiki, sound healing, and intuitive
- 8:53challenge, I often witness this not as a dramatic
- 8:59release, but more as a softening, a quiet exhale,
- 9:04a moment where the system realizes, oh, I'm allowed
- 9:10to be held. From a soul perspective, you were
- 9:17never designed to be an infrastructure. You were
- 9:23never meant to be a beam that holds everything
- 9:32together. You are an expression of consciousness,
- 9:39a unique frequency, a living, breathing note
- 9:46in the larger symphony. Your value. has never
- 9:52been tied to your output. Your value is inherited
- 9:57just simply because you exist and you are worthy
- 10:04for the simple fact that you exist. This is a
- 10:09radical remembrance in a world that equates worth
- 10:14with productivity. And as you begin releasing
- 10:18the fixer and the doer identity, you may pass
- 10:21through a strange in -between space for all of
- 10:26this. You might feel less driven, less certain,
- 10:31less defined. And this doesn't mean that something
- 10:35is wrong, because an old identity is dissolving
- 10:40before the new one fully reveals itself. This
- 10:45isn't emptiness. This is spaciousness. This is
- 10:49fertile ground. This is the pause between the
- 10:54inhale and the exhale. So a question I invite
- 11:01you to gently sit with, ask yourself, who am
- 11:08I when I stop managing my worth? Not who am I
- 11:15becoming? Not what should I do next? Who am I
- 11:21right now? When nothing is required of me, who
- 11:28am I? And I want to make this very grounded for
- 11:34you. Releasing the fixer and the doer isn't something
- 11:40you figure out all at once. It becomes a practice,
- 11:44a day -to -day practice. It can look like pausing
- 11:50before offering advice, noticing the urge to
- 11:54jump in and choosing to breathe instead, letting
- 11:59someone else feel uncomfortable without rushing
- 12:02to their rescue, and asking yourself, is this
- 12:10actually mine? to carry. There's nothing wrong
- 12:16with allowing the dishes to wait, allowing emails
- 12:20to wait, allowing some things to be imperfect.
- 12:25Not as negligence, but as disconcern. This is
- 12:31what practice looks like. It's in small steps,
- 12:34it's being human and gracious with yourself,
- 12:38and it takes a daily practice. Not dramatic life
- 12:43overhauls. You're going to crash your nervous
- 12:47system if you try to do that. You may not get
- 12:52an answer in words. You may get a sensation,
- 12:55a feeling, a subtle sense of presence. But that
- 13:00presence, that quiet awareness, that's you. Not
- 13:07the roles, not the coping strategies. Not the
- 13:11identities, you. So in my own journey, I've noticed
- 13:19that I release needing to constantly do, right?
- 13:24My work has become more about being available
- 13:28rather than pushing. More about listening rather
- 13:32than managing or doing. More about allowing sessions.
- 13:38offerings and connections to arise organically
- 13:43instead of forcing that momentum. One simple
- 13:48question I've started asking my own life is,
- 13:51am I choosing this from alignment or from obligation?
- 13:57And sometimes I still choose to do that thing,
- 14:00but now I'm choosing consciously. I know if I'm
- 14:07doing it from alignment or if I'm doing it from
- 14:10obligation. I tell you what I'm not doing. I'm
- 14:14not doing it from fear. I'm not doing it for
- 14:18proving something. And I'm not doing it to fix
- 14:22something. This question alone can bring to a
- 14:29shift of an entire new pattern. This is also
- 14:35the energy behind my one -on -one sessions. Whether
- 14:39we're working with Reiki, sound healing, intuitive
- 14:41guidance, or even channeling, the intention is
- 14:45not to fix my clients. Because you're just fine.
- 14:50I'm not here to fix you. You shouldn't be here
- 14:53to fix yourself. What we're doing is we're creating
- 14:58a safe, grounded, energetic support space. where
- 15:03your system remembers how to self -regulate,
- 15:06where your soul remembers its own wisdom, and
- 15:11where your identity naturally begins to reorganize,
- 15:15not through pressure, but through permission.
- 15:19And I say to you, allow yourself that permission
- 15:23to let go of the fixer and the doer and be. Be
- 15:32in the present. Be in the moment. And be your
- 15:37own priority. If you've been feeling called to
- 15:43slow down, to soften, to come home to yourself,
- 15:47know that this is not laziness. This is actually
- 15:51intelligence. This is your soul signaling a new
- 15:55phase. A phase where effort gives way to alignment.
- 16:01We're doing gives a way to being and we're fixing
- 16:05gives a way to relating. So we're going to do
- 16:12a body, a body practice, body based practice,
- 16:16right? But I want to offer a very simple way
- 16:19of being receiving in everyday life before we
- 16:24do that. So let yourself receive in small, ordinary
- 16:30ways. Let someone hold a door for you. Let someone
- 16:36else drive. Let someone else make the decisions.
- 16:44And let yourself rest without earning it first.
- 16:49I love the part about letting someone else make
- 16:54the decisions. I think, you know, it's like I
- 16:59would go to work and I would have to make decisions
- 17:01all day there and then I would come home and
- 17:03I would have to make decisions at home. Finally,
- 17:05it got to the point where when it came to home,
- 17:07I'm like, okay, I'm not making any more decisions
- 17:10about dinner. Going forward, you're taking care
- 17:14of dinner and I'm just going to enjoy whatever
- 17:17you decide on. That decision is no longer mine
- 17:21to make and it's made my life so much happier.
- 17:26And it's taken away something off of my to -do
- 17:30list that someone else is perfectly capable of
- 17:33doing. And they do it well. And so giving that
- 17:38up helped both of us. It gave them something
- 17:42meaningful to take on and do to take care of
- 17:45the family. It took a burden off of me that I
- 17:49really just dreaded anyway. And so it was a good
- 17:54thing, right? So receiving doesn't start with
- 17:59big manifestations. It starts with allowing support
- 18:03in the mundane. This gently retrains our nervous
- 18:11system. You don't have to do everything. You
- 18:14don't have to manage everything. And just realize
- 18:18and accept that you are allowed to be supported.
- 18:25So we're going to do a small practice right now,
- 18:27one that you can take with you every day going
- 18:31forward. It's going to be very helpful, and you
- 18:35can use it not only for this, for other things
- 18:37too. So we're going to place one hand on our
- 18:40heart chakra. We're going to place the other
- 18:42hand on our sacral chakra. And when you place
- 18:46these hands on each of these chakra points, it
- 18:49allows the connection of the energy to run between
- 18:52them, to connect them. And here's the importance
- 18:57of that. Your heart chakra, located in the center
- 19:00of your chest, it represents love, compassion,
- 19:04safety, emotional openness, and connection. And
- 19:10in this practice specifically, the heart hand
- 19:13anchors gentleness, presence, and self -compassion.
- 19:20So our sacral chakra, which is our lower belly
- 19:23a few inches below the navel, it represents our
- 19:27emotional body, safety in the body, creativity,
- 19:32sensuality, receiving, fluidity, and relationships
- 19:40to pleasure and life force. So these are very
- 19:45important things. And when your hand rests on
- 19:48the lower belly, you are primarily engaging the
- 19:52sacral center. And this is especially relevant
- 19:56for releasing control, for softening, for allowing
- 20:01support and reconnecting with feelings instead
- 20:05of effort. So we're going to place one hand on
- 20:13our heart chakra. We're going to place the other
- 20:15hand on our sacral chakra. We're going to inhale
- 20:19through the nose and exhale through the mouth.
- 20:27Feel the release. Let's do that again. Inhale.
- 20:33Exhale. And silently repeat. I release the role
- 20:43of holding everything together. I allow myself
- 20:52to be supported. I am safe to soften. I take
- 21:02another deep breath in. Exhale. There's no need
- 21:10to visualize. No need to force. We're just allowing
- 21:17to sit with this. We're allowing this to resonate
- 21:20within us. I release the role of holding everything
- 21:26together. I allow myself to be supported. And
- 21:37I am safe. To soften. So you don't need to know
- 21:52who you're becoming yet. You don't need a new
- 21:58identity to replace the old one. You don't need
- 22:03a five -step program. You only need willingness.
- 22:08Willingness not to reach for control. Willingness
- 22:14to not immediately feel the space. Feel the space.
- 22:20And willingness to stay present in the unknown.
- 22:24Because something very honest lives there, something
- 22:28within. And slowly, you may begin to notice a
- 22:35clearer yes. a cleaner know, a gentler relationship
- 22:41with yourself, and a deeper trust in life. Not
- 22:46because everything is perfect, but because you're
- 22:50no longer trying to orchestrate every outcome,
- 22:54right? Be in the practice of just being. This
- 22:59is an amazing shift to be in. Being in the present.
- 23:07How amazing is that? So I hope you practice the
- 23:14heart chakra, sacral chakra and saying those
- 23:20few words, knowing that you can also use that
- 23:23for other affirmations and things in your life
- 23:25that you need to connect with and release with.
- 23:30So definitely practice. In two weeks, I'll be
- 23:33back. to be on the lookout for our episode two
- 23:38podcast. And that episode is all about when nothing
- 23:43is wrong, but everything is changing. Understanding
- 23:47the quiet internal shift after survival mode.
- 23:51Because many of us after the last several years
- 23:54have been in survival mode and we're starting
- 23:57to shift out of that. And so how does that feel
- 23:59and how are you going to maintain and manage
- 24:01that? So that's what our episode two is all about.
- 24:07If this conversation resonates, and if you feel
- 24:12like you're standing in that in -between space,
- 24:15know you're not alone. This is the terrain I
- 24:21hold space for in my work, and I would be honored
- 24:24to walk alongside of you. You can find my current
- 24:28offerings, one -on -one sessions, and upcoming
- 24:31group experiences on My website, just-be -true.com
- 24:41the link is going to be in the show
- 24:45notes, so you can definitely check them out.
- 24:47And always be gentle with yourself. You are not
- 24:52here to hold everything together. You are here
- 24:55to experience yourself. And if you feel called
- 24:59to explore this work with a deeper community,
- 25:03I have a few upcoming spaces I would love to
- 25:05share with you. I am hosting, so excited about
- 25:10this, I am hosting a soul remembering retreat
