- 0:00Welcome back. Today we're highlighting Supia
- 0:03UAE's updated guidelines for the fifth cycle
- 0:05of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global
- 0:09Water Award. The headline? One million U .S.
- 0:13dollars in prizes. And submissions are open until
- 0:16the 30th of April, 2026. The biggest clarification
- 0:20for innovators. You do not need a patent to apply.
- 0:25And your intellectual property stays protected.
- 0:29applicants retain ownership throughout the submission
- 0:31process. What matters most in evaluation is impact.
- 0:36Sukia emphasizes measurable, real -world results,
- 0:40solutions that actually deliver clean and safe
- 0:44water to communities in need. The award includes
- 0:47four categories, innovative projects, innovative
- 0:51research and development, innovative individual,
- 0:54and innovative crisis solutions. Across all of
- 0:58them, The goal is to advance technologies that
- 1:01desalinate or purify water using renewable energy.
- 1:05That includes solar, wind, biomass, hydroelectric
- 1:10power, osmosis -based approaches, and geothermal
- 1:14energy. And if your application fits better elsewhere,
- 1:17Sukia notes it may be redirected to a more suitable
- 1:20category. Proof is key. Applicants should clearly
- 1:25demonstrate water quality and safety. plus production
- 1:29capacity, aligned with World Health Organization
- 1:32guidance and relevant local environmental and
- 1:35social standards. This cycle also strengthens
- 1:39the creativity and innovation criteria by integrating
- 1:42advanced technologies like artificial intelligence,
- 1:45with an emphasis on accelerating the deployment
- 1:48of practical, scalable solutions. You'll need
- 1:52to show how renewables are integrated or utilized.
- 1:55supported by an environmental impact assessment,
- 1:58whether it's water production, desalination,
- 2:01purification, or even project management. Financial
- 2:05viability is encouraged too. Life cycle cost
- 2:09analysis, payback period, and internal rate of
- 2:12return. And don't forget adaptability to local
- 2:16environments, plus how the solution can improve
- 2:18over time. Submissions should plainly state what's
- 2:22new. show efficiency and replicability, and outline
- 2:27stakeholder engagement . Finally, watch the ownership
- 2:36rules. For innovative projects and innovative
- 2:39crisis solutions, the technology must be owned
- 2:42by the applicant organization and supported by
- 2:45a registered commercial license. And for innovative
- 2:49research and development, The project must be
- 2:52owned by the sponsoring institution, submitted
- 2:54by project supervisors, and formally accredited
- 2:58by that sponsor. That's the quick brief. Impact
- 3:01first, safety and capacity proven, renewables
- 3:05integrated, and a clear path to scale. Thanks
- 3:08for listening.
