- 0:54Speaker 1: Yeah? Good, that's good.
- 0:55Speaker 2: That's excited, excited.
- 0:57Speaker 3: It's yeah, it's been a number of years since you
- 1:00Speaker 3: guys have brought it all together.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Yeah. I ran into Andy and Nathan at a Baby
- 1:08Speaker 1: Animals gig up on the Central Coast and said, hey,
- 1:13Speaker 1: it's our fortieth anniversary next year, do you guys want
- 1:15Speaker 1: to do something And they just looked at each other
- 1:17Speaker 1: and said yeah, fuck yeah. So that started from there.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Why not, it's a way you still got it in
- 1:24Speaker 3: you guys. You've still looked like you've got plenty of
- 1:26Speaker 3: years of.
- 1:27Speaker 2: The Yeah, it's been good, Yeah, awesome, awesome.
- 1:32Speaker 3: So baby animals gig, Hey, yeah, I have I'd.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Love to catch a baby animals gig.
- 1:37Speaker 3: That's they're oh my bucket least believe it or not,
- 1:41Speaker 3: so hopefully that will happen. So yeah, So touring, how
- 1:44Speaker 3: many gigs you guys got on? What's the schedule look like?
- 1:48Speaker 1: Well, we released part one today which was nine gigs yea,
- 1:52Speaker 1: so East Coast of Australia and then Adelaide for Froth
- 1:58Speaker 1: and Fury Festival Yea and Perth later on in the year,
- 2:02Speaker 1: and then there'll be there'll be another we're sort of
- 2:05Speaker 1: still book and stuff, so there'll be a part two
- 2:08Speaker 1: which will cover North Queensland, Tasmania, hopefully in New Zealand
- 2:13Speaker 1: and yeah, a couple more regional places maybe Broken Hill.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Also, yeah, that's good it's.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Actually the biggest thing we've ever done, Like we've never
- 2:23Speaker 1: done anything this big in our whole history.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Wow. Wow, that's exciting. That's really cool.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:29Speaker 3: So obviously your your old die hard fans will be
- 2:31Speaker 3: out and about and there. Yeah.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Hopefully it's been a pretty good response so far.
- 2:35Speaker 3: For sure, and a whole bunch of new, young young
- 2:38Speaker 3: fans as well.
- 2:39Speaker 1: All the grandkids.
- 2:41Speaker 3: I've got grand kids just now. Grand kids are good.
- 2:45Speaker 3: They're the best back. Yeah, lots of fun. Yeah, I know,
- 2:49Speaker 3: that's some. As I said, it's I'm loving being middle
- 2:53Speaker 3: age at the moment because all my favorite bands are
- 2:55Speaker 3: all doing anniversary tours.
- 2:57Speaker 1: And it's.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Still for the music. Just makes feel like you're still
- 3:02Speaker 2: back there.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Yeah. And the good thing is like all these older bands,
- 3:08Speaker 1: you know, when you watch them, it's like, wow, they're
- 3:09Speaker 1: just way better.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Than they ever Absolutely I agree that it's just it's
- 3:15Speaker 3: hard to describe that put into words. So I just
- 3:17Speaker 3: did read What's Summer a few weeks back, and so
- 3:19Speaker 3: we had the church, which was incredible, even crowded house,
- 3:23Speaker 3: you know, it was just like, wow, these guys are
- 3:25Speaker 3: just epic. And earlier in the year got to see
- 3:27Speaker 3: the Jed Kennedy's that was Chef's Kids, and it is it.
- 3:32Speaker 3: You just think, Wow, these guys you know, have been
- 3:34Speaker 3: doing it for so long and still got plenty of
- 3:36Speaker 3: energy to do the tour and it is it's that
- 3:39Speaker 3: crafted perfection of their art and it's it's awesome.
- 3:43Speaker 2: So you guys must be so excited. That's that's excellent.
- 3:48Speaker 3: So any any other secret news that we've got any
- 3:53Speaker 3: any unhinged plans for a long time.
- 3:56Speaker 1: We're working on a pretty big support which is a
- 4:01Speaker 1: fortieth anniversary vinyl release. Yes, and it's some artwork that
- 4:08Speaker 1: no one's ever seen. Only the band members have seen it,
- 4:11Speaker 1: So yeah, that's going to be like everyone's just going
- 4:14Speaker 1: to look at that and go, oh, my fucking god,
- 4:17Speaker 1: that is fucking awesome. Yeah, So that's trying to keep
- 4:20Speaker 1: that under wraps and we're even going to release it
- 4:22Speaker 1: in a brown paper bag so that you can't see
- 4:25Speaker 1: it until you actually open it up.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Oh, that's so cool. That's that's it. We've got the
- 4:29Speaker 2: whole you know, marketing thing behind it.
- 4:31Speaker 3: It makes it special and like every bands now just
- 4:35Speaker 3: doing it anniversary tours, new releases, and it's making massive
- 4:40Speaker 3: comeback the whole the vinyl collection.
- 4:43Speaker 2: So yeah, we've just got cooler ones and our parents did.
- 4:47Speaker 1: It's a lot more expensive to make than it, Yes,
- 4:50Speaker 1: it is. I was looking at the costs for when
- 4:52Speaker 1: we released our first album, Maiming Destruction back in nineteen
- 4:56Speaker 1: eighty six, and it was like three bucks speech or
- 4:58Speaker 1: something now like twenty twenty two bucks to get one made.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Oh, it's insane.
- 5:03Speaker 3: And that's and you know, look because I've worked five
- 5:05Speaker 3: hundred Want Records as well, so on the side, so
- 5:07Speaker 3: we've looked at doing vinyl releases for a number of
- 5:10Speaker 3: our artists and it's not cheap, even like the cheap
- 5:14Speaker 3: ones that you do yourself at the time you add
- 5:16Speaker 3: all the costs up.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Yeah, not like it used to be.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Yeah, like what is what do you selling a vinyl
- 5:21Speaker 1: for sixty five bucks for? Well, we're making on it.
- 5:26Speaker 2: It's exactly right. And so are you doing a full
- 5:28Speaker 2: or you just do it seventy inch?
- 5:31Speaker 1: No, No, it's a full full length. It's basically that
- 5:34Speaker 1: that album, but it's just going to have a different
- 5:36Speaker 1: cover on it.
- 5:37Speaker 2: It's all nice. Yeah, so it collectors and.
- 5:39Speaker 1: It'll be like a splat of vinyl as well.
- 5:41Speaker 2: So oh, cool, cool, cool.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Yeah, you can get some really cool wax these days,
- 5:46Speaker 3: like the greens really cool, like even the clean ones.
- 5:49Speaker 2: It's some.
- 5:50Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a lot, even like when you have got it.
- 5:52Speaker 3: We had our own vinyl press and it just does
- 5:55Speaker 3: one at a time. But yeah, that gets expensive. It's
- 5:58Speaker 3: just it's on full actually the way it is. But
- 6:02Speaker 3: I think I personally, I think the sound quality is
- 6:04Speaker 3: much better. You've got it's a good sound system and
- 6:08Speaker 3: it cranks and I'm looking at your background.
- 6:10Speaker 2: There are they keys there that you've got.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Collecting that my dispensers?
- 6:15Speaker 2: Oh I have to okay, so one Pazs I absolutely want.
- 6:21Speaker 3: I don't know whether you have is Elvis, because then
- 6:24Speaker 3: it would be Elvis Psley.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I don't actually have it. I've tried to get it
- 6:29Speaker 1: a couple of times.
- 6:29Speaker 2: But I have. That's that's yeah.
- 6:32Speaker 3: That's one thing or another thing on my boget list.
- 6:34Speaker 3: And Elvis dispenser very cool. I imagine you've got some
- 6:39Speaker 3: awesome ones in your collection. I can barely see my
- 6:42Speaker 3: poor vision as I'm getting older.
- 6:44Speaker 1: There's about fifteen.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Oh wow, that's cool. I love quirky, cool things like that. Excellent.
- 6:52Speaker 3: So yeah, so exciting times. So nine shows and with
- 6:57Speaker 3: another maybe dying to.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Act another nine or ten to add on to that
- 7:01Speaker 1: as well.
- 7:02Speaker 2: You guys are going to be.
- 7:06Speaker 1: And then in the middle of all of it, we're
- 7:07Speaker 1: going to Germany to play Keep It True Festival in April,
- 7:13Speaker 1: and then we'll come back to some more shows, and
- 7:15Speaker 1: then August we go back over for a month of shows. Wow,
- 7:20Speaker 1: some festivals and some club shows, and then we come
- 7:24Speaker 1: we come back from there, and then October we do
- 7:26Speaker 1: it all over again.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Wow.
- 7:28Speaker 3: So you guys are going to be for the next
- 7:29Speaker 3: two years. Like just on who's driving the Silver So
- 7:33Speaker 3: you've got that.
- 7:34Speaker 1: We're getting offers from all over the place. Someone said, oh,
- 7:37Speaker 1: do you want to play South America? And it's like,
- 7:39Speaker 1: I don't even know where we can fit it in mate,
- 7:40Speaker 1: where we're going to fit it?
- 7:41Speaker 2: So how long has it actually been since you guys.
- 7:43Speaker 1: And to The last tour we did was twenty eleven
- 7:47Speaker 1: when we did the Thrash Best Classics Tour with Sture Exodus.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Construction and even how was that?
- 7:54Speaker 1: Yeah that was twenty six shows in twenty six days,
- 7:57Speaker 1: shit in the middle of winter. So yeah, that was
- 8:00Speaker 1: was pretty brutal.
- 8:01Speaker 3: I reckon and but sepulture like, what a what a
- 8:03Speaker 3: memory that's not absolutely pretty awesome?
- 8:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:07Speaker 3: So yeah, so over your time that you've been doing
- 8:10Speaker 3: your thing, what's what's one of your favorite old time
- 8:13Speaker 3: best memories that you guys have got.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Look, Yeah, yeah, we'll look too too. Would be obviously
- 8:21Speaker 1: supporting Metallica back in Justice for All tour in Sydney,
- 8:26Speaker 1: Melbourne and Adelaide, and the other one would probably opening
- 8:30Speaker 1: up the main stage on like on the big day
- 8:33Speaker 1: over there, playing in front of sixty thousand people.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Yeah, they're probably the two biggest ones. But look, everything's
- 8:40Speaker 1: a highlight, you know. You can't yeah, look you might
- 8:45Speaker 1: have a couple of ship gigs here and there, but
- 8:47Speaker 1: just playing playing is a highlight.
- 8:49Speaker 2: It is I always say's the most fun you can
- 8:51Speaker 2: have with your clothes on sober It is. It is
- 8:55Speaker 2: such a thrill, you know, And I talked to a
- 8:58Speaker 2: lot of.
- 8:58Speaker 3: Us, and you know that that change between like an
- 9:01Speaker 3: artist and their listeners and that that live music thing,
- 9:04Speaker 3: that's something that technology will never replace, and it's such
- 9:07Speaker 3: a special moment. And to be able to keep doing it,
- 9:10Speaker 3: it's it's incredible.
- 9:11Speaker 1: It's you can't do and you can't do that sitting
- 9:14Speaker 1: on your lund on your land stare, No way, No,
- 9:17Speaker 1: It's the only place you can get that kind of
- 9:19Speaker 1: interaction is on stage with a crowd in front of
- 9:22Speaker 1: your playing your songs. Yeah, hopefully one there's you know,
- 9:26Speaker 1: rooting for you and loving your songs. And yeah, that's
- 9:29Speaker 1: that's as a as a writer or as a musician,
- 9:32Speaker 1: that's what you want, you.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Know, absolutely absolutely, And I think you know with COVID,
- 9:36Speaker 3: you know, I personally seen that it really highlighted just
- 9:41Speaker 3: how much live music is critical to our lifestyle and
- 9:44Speaker 3: what we do. And I feel that, you know, it's
- 9:47Speaker 3: been embraced and supported, you know, much more then i'd
- 9:51Speaker 3: say previously, you know, when you know the bigger apps
- 9:54Speaker 3: that come out, but you know, now we're supporting a
- 9:56Speaker 3: lot of our homegrowing like local stuff, and it's so
- 9:58Speaker 3: refreshing to see. I mean, you know, in lockdown, especially
- 10:02Speaker 3: if you're in Melbourne and there's a lot of people
- 10:03Speaker 3: who had done anything for a ship and over beer
- 10:06Speaker 3: in a plastic cup of a shitty any Yeah, it
- 10:10Speaker 3: highlighted that, Yeah, it's good to we have it back
- 10:13Speaker 3: now and that we've definitely embraced it.
- 10:15Speaker 2: And that you guys are able to do these things.
- 10:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Well, if anything, there's too much happening now.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Oh my god, tell me about it.
- 10:22Speaker 3: It's a crazy time of year. I'm a double bookdim
- 10:25Speaker 3: back to back between the last month and this month.
- 10:27Speaker 3: I'm like, if we get another email, that's someone doing
- 10:30Speaker 3: the tour. But you know, it's it's good, but it is.
- 10:33Speaker 2: It's so freaking busy.
- 10:35Speaker 3: It's summertime and everyone wants to tour and release albums
- 10:39Speaker 3: around about now, and.
- 10:40Speaker 1: It's well, Australia is the best destination for summer, isn't it.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Oh they have to say that.
- 10:45Speaker 3: You know, a lot of the artists that you're in seats,
- 10:47Speaker 3: especially on that Cali coast, they like and you know,
- 10:50Speaker 3: Australia's most like their own where they are themselves in
- 10:54Speaker 3: terms of like their seasons and whatnot. Then they're in
- 10:57Speaker 3: parts of their own country. Yeah, very similar, Yeah, very
- 11:00Speaker 3: very similar.
- 11:01Speaker 2: So they love it. We love having amount. It's so yeah,
- 11:04Speaker 2: sorry about you, guys, bass.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Most of us are on the central coast of New
- 11:09Speaker 1: South Wales, Nice Georgia Drummers a sort of in a
- 11:14Speaker 1: west of Sydney, and our guitarist Ryan lives in Melbourne,
- 11:20Speaker 1: but his family's up at Newcastle, so he comes up
- 11:23Speaker 1: every now and again for rehearsals. We've had I think
- 11:26Speaker 1: we've had like five rehearsals with him. Yeah. Yeah, yeah,
- 11:31Speaker 1: it's not it's not wonderful, but.
- 11:33Speaker 2: You can do it these days.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, when when we all come together, it's it's
- 11:37Speaker 1: pretty magical. So yeah, it's good.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. For sure.
- 11:42Speaker 3: It's you know, once you lock in and you've been
- 11:44Speaker 3: guys been you know, a unit for a long time now,
- 11:46Speaker 3: it's it's quite riding a bike, you know, it's that.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Yeah, getting a new drummer, it makes a difference, you know,
- 11:54Speaker 1: learning songs. Took probably three or four months.
- 11:57Speaker 2: To brand new for this tour, is it.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, he's he's joined us for this slot and yeah,
- 12:04Speaker 1: so taking in probably three four months to feel comfortable
- 12:07Speaker 1: with the songs. No, yeah, we're rocking out. It's good, sounding.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Good, that's awesome. That's awesome.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Well, it's exciting times ahead, and so we've got that
- 12:15Speaker 3: in the new release would come out in the receiving
- 12:18Speaker 3: five o'clock. So yeah, to be concerts shows all over
- 12:23Speaker 3: the place, concert shows everywhere.
- 12:24Speaker 2: It's a big released.
- 12:25Speaker 3: It's Hot Hot off the press here and our head
- 12:29Speaker 3: heavy and Christmas at me there because it's until five
- 12:32Speaker 3: pm and I'm like, I'm not talking to anyone, I promise,
- 12:36Speaker 3: but yeah, no, that's super exciting. So look, well we
- 12:40Speaker 3: can't wait to catch one of your gigs, no doubt,
- 12:42Speaker 3: or either be somewhere between Byron and Brisbane.
- 12:45Speaker 2: I'm sure one of us will definitely be there. Yeah,
- 12:48Speaker 2: and uh yeah, we look forward to it. So in Brisbane.
- 12:53Speaker 1: We're playing, We're headlining Shredfest Awesome, which is May the second.
- 12:59Speaker 3: Okay, nice at the man Skill, So yeah, that'll be
- 13:01Speaker 3: pretty big. That's not a bad venue too, that's yeah,
- 13:05Speaker 3: is good. Yeah, yeah, he's doing Gold Coast shows at all.
- 13:09Speaker 1: I think we're looking into it, but because of you know,
- 13:12Speaker 1: Brisbane being the festival, we've got to give it some space.
- 13:15Speaker 3: So yeah, yeah, might be a little bit later on
- 13:18Speaker 3: in the yeah, yeah
