- 0:00Welcome to the Ignite with Barry McGuire podcast.
- 0:03How would you like to have the time of your life for the rest of your life?
- 0:07How would you like to defeat fear effortlessly, knowing for sure God is hearing and answering your prayers and directing your steps and making everything work for good?
- 0:17This is exciting.
- 0:18Here's the question.
- 0:19How would you like to ignite your life?
- 0:21Stay tuned.
- 0:26Hi everybody, welcome back to Ignite.
- 0:28Well, it is election time again, okay?
- 0:32And like everybody else, I can tell you, vote.
- 0:35You know, you have to vote, Christians.
- 0:38Why are so many Christians not voting?
- 0:40I don't, it doesn't even make sense.
- 0:42You complain about what's going on in this world.
- 0:44We're heading right for hell.
- 0:46I mean, the stuff that's going on is demonic.
- 0:49I mean, the thing.
- 0:49We're coming unglued, and it's because of our election officials allowing it, endorsing it in some cases, because we've elected those officials.
- 0:59And maybe you think elections are dirty, or I don't want to get, I don't want to, these people are going to get elected, whether you vote for them or not.
- 1:07You know, I just saw it statistic, and it really sparks my heart right now.
- 1:13The last statistic I saw is 100 million believers will not vote this election time, including 32 million that are regular church attenders.
- 1:25I mean, God, this was going vague.
- 1:29It's crazy.
- 1:31Do you know that Christians would vote were wondering, how can we lose an election?
- 1:35How can that person can't possibly be elected?
- 1:38You know what I'm talking about.
- 1:39You have more than one in your own areas.
- 1:42They're an idiot.
- 1:43And they're saying the most stupid things that are so wrong for everybody and we're electing them.
- 1:50I mean, how's that possible?
- 1:54We can win every election.
- 1:56I mean, you probably hear this over and over, but we can win every election easily.
- 2:00In every state, we could win every election if Chris has just voted.
- 2:04So, yeah, I want to say vote, right?
- 2:09If you haven't voted, have you studied American history at all?
- 2:16you know, it's not, you have to dig a little bit, but do you know the founders, and you know most of their names, and a lot of their names you don't know.
- 2:23You should read, and you should find out what happened to them.
- 2:26You know they put their fortunes, their estates, their families on the line, and you know most of them were killed.
- 2:33Beheaded, stabbed, shot, had their wives shot in front of them.
- 2:37They died for freedom, for the freedom we have to vote.
- 2:41We're the only nation in the world, has this kind of freedom.
- 2:45Our Constitution is the longest living document, government document in the world.
- 2:49I mean, God did this for us.
- 2:52And that's why John Adams, the famous John Adams, he was our second president after George Washington, and he helped frame the Constitution.
- 3:00And he said, you know, this Constitution is only made for a moral and religious people.
- 3:06And he says, if it's not that,
- 3:10Good luck.
- 3:11Well, we're no longer a moral and religious people.
- 3:14Whose fault is that?
- 3:16Whose fault is that?
- 3:17It's our fault.
- 3:20We've left the world.
- 3:21We've just gone silent.
- 3:22You realize less than 1% of us are intentionally sharing our faith every day?
- 3:27I just got that from George Barna.
- 3:29It's unbelievable.
- 3:32We just have, we don't care if they're going to hell.
- 3:36And apparently we don't care how they vote.
- 3:38I mean, there's a dichotomy in all that.
- 3:43We're surrounded by people who are lost and somehow we just don't care.
- 3:50And so we've stopped doing that, and we've allowed the blind to lead the blind.
- 3:53That's literally what it is.
- 3:55And here's the thing.
- 3:56They're not evil.
- 3:57They're just lost, okay?
- 3:59I'm going to come back to that in a minute.
- 4:00Remember Ben Franklin?
- 4:02This name is quite famous now.
- 4:04But he was asked after they settled everything, was it a republic or a democracy?
- 4:10And he says, a republic.
- 4:13if you can keep it.
- 4:14Oh, we haven't done a very good job of that.
- 4:17So you need to vote carefully.
- 4:24Vote for the best candidates.
- 4:26And oh, for some of those that are so religious, you do vote, but I'm not gonna vote for anybody that's against this or in favor of this or whatever.
- 4:34They gotta fit your menu or you're not gonna vote for them.
- 4:39Folks, we're way beyond that.
- 4:42you're gonna find very few politicians that match your menu, okay?
- 4:49And if you don't decide you're just not gonna vote in that category, somebody else is gonna be elected in that category, and it's gonna be somebody, probably a lot worse than the person that you didn't wanna vote for.
- 4:59So it's not just voting for Christians, it's voting for non-Christians, but what you have to vote, the lesser of the evils, I gotta tell you, it's the lesser of the evils.
- 5:07You look and say, they're doing what?
- 5:10Well, this guy's a little bit, oh, I didn't know.
- 5:12He's not, what is he doing that for?
- 5:14I can't vote for anybody like that.
- 5:15Yes, you can.
- 5:17Yes, you can.
- 5:18You have to.
- 5:20There's a lot of politicians going up to the top of our government.
- 5:22I voted for, I don't agree with a whole lot they say.
- 5:25Yeah.
- 5:26But I look at the alternative and there's no contest.
- 5:29You follow what I'm saying?
- 5:30Pastors, why are you not preaching this from your pulpits?
- 5:34I don't get it.
- 5:35Oh, I don't want to get involved in politics.
- 5:38I just preached the word of God.
- 5:39Well, you're probably not even preaching the word of God.
- 5:41Most of you fall in that category.
- 5:42These friendly, make you feel good sermons.
- 5:45Anyway, you don't want to get involved.
- 5:47Where are your church members going to go for information?
- 5:50Would you tell me that?
- 5:52If you don't share good information about the political issues of your day in your church, where else are they gonna go?
- 6:00Where, tell me where.
- 6:02I mean, there are some polls and things that can help, but to hear a godly voice giving direction, I don't care if you're a Republican or a Democrat, I don't care what you are.
- 6:12You vote, your conscience, you vote the Holy Spirit, you vote what God is telling you to vote, that's the thing.
- 6:17And just vote.
- 6:22It's so incredible, but it's way beyond that.
- 6:27It's every day.
- 6:28Is that just election day?
- 6:31It's every day.
- 6:32Boy, do we love to hate the politicians that are doing the wrong things?
- 6:38Oh my goodness.
- 6:41Do we ever?
- 6:43I hear it in church circles all the time, that person, this, that person, this.
- 6:47Well, do you pray for them?
- 6:48Pray for them.
- 6:51Yeah, do you pray for them?
- 6:53No, I don't pray for them.
- 6:54Well, you know, they're lost too.
- 6:58And God wants to reach them.
- 7:00Do you, can you imagine, there's like 70% of Americans say they're Christian.
- 7:04Only about 20% go to church, but 70%.
- 7:07But somewhere in between, there's a whole lot of folks.
- 7:09If we started praying, literally for our politicians, you know, prayer changes things.
- 7:15It really does.
- 7:17And we need to pray for our country.
- 7:19There's so many scriptures.
- 7:21Look them up.
- 7:21Just do a Bible study.
- 7:22Start scanning and looking for scriptures to talk about how we should support our government and support our leaders and pray for our government.
- 7:31Get involved.
- 7:33There's one I just want to read you, just one in particular.
- 7:36I may have just lost it.
- 7:38I don't know.
- 7:38Let me see.
- 7:40It's 2 Timothy.
- 7:43I think it's right here.
- 7:44Hold on.
- 7:46Oh my goodness.
- 7:49Well, best laid plans.
- 7:51The point is, it says, you need to pray for your leaders, whether they be good or bad, but pray for your leaders so it'll go well for your country.
- 8:00We need to pray for our country.
- 8:02Pray for our leaders in urgent prayer.
- 8:03It's not a one-day-a-year election thing.
- 8:06It's praying.
- 8:07It's understanding we're in this battle every day.
- 8:10There's decisions being made in state houses, legislators, in the Senate, in the Congress, every day that need God's inspiration.
- 8:20I spoke, I think I even did a podcast on it.
- 8:23I spoke at the Association of Christian Lawmakers.
- 8:29And I gotta tell you, it was one of the best events I've gone to.
- 8:33I mean, they were legislatures, if you will.
- 8:37They're congressmen, senators, governors, what have you.
- 8:42that were very intentional with their faith.
- 8:43I mean, that's all they talked about.
- 8:44They weren't talking politics.
- 8:46They were talking God.
- 8:48And I was having great fellowship with them.
- 8:52But when I got up in front of them, I said, let me just tell you, you're not Christian lawmakers.
- 8:59That got their attention.
- 9:01I like to find ways, how do you get everybody's attention?
- 9:03Okay, now I can talk to you.
- 9:05I said, you're not Christian lawmakers because Christian is not an adjective.
- 9:10It's not.
- 9:10A Christian is what you are.
- 9:13And you're going into the darkest houses in America, particularly those of you in Washington, and you're fighting the battles for God.
- 9:22But in the fighting of those battles, your anger can rise up and you can see the people on the other side of those battles as being your enemies.
- 9:32And I hear the stories and I see the anger happening.
- 9:40And I know the damage is being done to people on the other side of those issues that make them hate God all the more because we're hating.
- 9:49Folks, we can't do that.
- 9:52We can't do that.
- 9:54People in your lives, the kids on the protest lines, they're lost, you understand that?
- 10:00They're lost, they're not evil, they're lost.
- 10:03We were lost, but by the grace of God, we'd still be lost.
- 10:05But somebody got to us.
- 10:07They're gonna stay lost unless somebody tells them Jesus loves them.
- 10:12That's political, that is.
- 10:15How's that political?
- 10:16Because if you win them to the Lord, you don't have to tell them how to vote, God will tell them how to vote.
- 10:22One of the most famous names, if I mention it to you right now, you would know his name instantly.
- 10:26He's been in politics in Washington for a long time.
- 10:29A long time.
- 10:30And I have voted for him and I love him to death.
- 10:34But he and I got into a discussion.
- 10:35I was talking about his evangelistic arm and the influence he has.
- 10:39And he started pushing back, oh, I fight these battles so you can do what you do.
- 10:43I said, there's no doing what I do.
- 10:45It's doing what God does.
- 10:49Your job is to win these people.
- 10:50And he got mad at me and he actually started yelling at me in a formal banquet.
- 10:56He was so exercised, I would dare say he was convicted because he'd been fighting that battle so long.
- 11:02He became, it's a battle.
- 11:03It becomes his God.
- 11:07People get caught up in these issues of
- 11:11you know, human trafficking, abortion, whatever, and get to the point where they're so militant, they're not thinking about saving souls, they're thinking about winning that issue.
- 11:24And it can be anything.
- 11:25But quite frankly, we get to where we say, God, come and help me with my God.
- 11:29Because that's what possesses you.
- 11:31It gets you every energy, every ounce of money and time and investment and influence you have.
- 11:35You use it for that cause.
- 11:38And I know we need to fight for those things.
- 11:40I'm not saying we shouldn't do that.
- 11:42But when they become our God.
- 11:46And they become our God.
- 11:47Jesus, you know, God, actually God said it in Revelations 2, the church's emphasis.
- 11:52He says, I know you go to church.
- 11:55I know you give sacrifices.
- 11:56I know all that.
- 11:57You know good teaching from bad, but I have this against you.
- 11:59I'm no longer your first love.
- 12:02Satan can take us with the most righteous thoughts and opinions and goals and take us to the wrong end and get so caught with things that we're not leading anybody to the Lord.
- 12:12How many people are you leading to the Lord?
- 12:16I use a car wires company to lead people to the Lord.
- 12:18He blessed it.
- 12:19He made it large, but he didn't do it because I was just, that was my business.
- 12:24I'm going to grow my business.
- 12:25So I use as my pulpit, as my platform where I can share Jesus and I use it to lead people to Jesus.
- 12:31I did that.
- 12:32He blessed my business, right?
- 12:35So, um, I would just say, uh, Christians, um,
- 12:41It's about love.
- 12:43The world needs love.
- 12:44Our politicians need love.
- 12:46The isolation of people in politics.
- 12:47First off, all of our Christian politicians, I admire them so greatly because it is a tough role.
- 12:54I've wondered if I can be a Christian and be in politics with the pressures that come on.
- 12:59I honestly don't know.
- 13:01So we need to pray for our Christians in office.
- 13:05Be wary also that there are some who say they're Christians in office that are not Christians.
- 13:09They use it as a stepping stone.
- 13:10So you've got to have the Holy Spirit convict you and direct you to who you're going to support.
- 13:15Be careful who you support.
- 13:17Pastors, when you're supporting people, if they're not a Christian, you can support them as a politician.
- 13:21But don't support them as a Christian unless they're really a Christian.
- 13:24Unless they embarrass you later on down the line.
- 13:27It's a complicated study, but the whole point of it is it's the basic thing.
- 13:33Move everybody every day closer to Jesus.
- 13:37You know, if we all started doing that, there's 30 million.
- 13:39If we started doing that, we'd ignite America with Revival easily.
- 13:45One poll said that 80% of the unchurched have at least one Christian in their life that they trust.
- 13:51We already have the influence.
- 13:52It costs us nothing.
- 13:54It's up to us.
- 13:55It's up to you.
- 13:56How many people in your life do you have influence over?
- 14:00Ask me.
- 14:01I mean, tell me.
- 14:02How many people that are not serving the Lord, that don't know the Lord, do you have influence over?
- 14:07I would suggest that you make a list and intentionally start moving them every day.
- 14:14But that's the short list.
- 14:15The longer list is all the people you're gonna meet today that you don't know, you'll never see again.
- 14:20But you for a moment have opportunity to move them closer, everyone closer to Jesus.
- 14:25That's your calling.
- 14:26You wanna be political?
- 14:27You wanna get the right elections going?
- 14:31Pray for our leaders.
- 14:33Pray for our leaders.
- 14:34Use our influence.
- 14:36You know, pray for our leaders.
- 14:37Pray for our leaders.
- 14:39Always, always, always pray for our leaders.
- 14:41Lift them up.
- 14:42Love them no matter what they do, whatever stupid thing they said yesterday.
- 14:45Pray for them.
- 14:47You know, God puts rulers in their place.
- 14:50That's a whole thing I don't really understand, but they're there.
- 14:52God put them there.
- 14:54And it's just to support them and love on them and correct them, of course.
- 14:59And there's so much correction need to be done and so much the church is doing.
- 15:02That's a whole other area.
- 15:03But you follow me.
- 15:04The most important thing is love.
- 15:08All the world needs love.
- 15:10Everybody needs love.
- 15:12And we have the ultimate love.
- 15:13God's love is not just an emotion.
- 15:16It is salvation.
- 15:17When he loves us, he's salvationing us.
- 15:19Do you understand that?
- 15:20He's salvationing us.
- 15:21He's calling us to him, to be with him for eternity.
- 15:25And when we love other people, it's literally his love flowing through us to those around us and calling them to come and be part of our family.
- 15:33And the promise is, the promise of Scripture is when we do this,
- 15:37It will go good for us, meaning all of us in the body of Christ, all those who know God and Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
- 15:43Wouldn't we do that?
- 15:44Wouldn't we honor our country and do everything we can to make our country righteous?
- 15:47It will go good for us.
- 15:49So keep the faith.
- 15:52Move everybody.
- 15:54Do you have it?
- 15:55Can I say it often enough?
- 15:56Move everybody, please.
- 15:59Move everybody every day closer to Jesus.
- 16:02God bless you.
