Latest / The Regulars / Michael Penix Jr. Has Entered the Chat, Draymond Has a Point About Kawhi & the Salary Cap
Transcript
- 0:00Thursday Night Football was interesting.
- 0:03Major League Baseball has a very big problem on their hands when it comes to
- 0:07the potential salary cap. And Draymond Green fucking hates a salary
- 0:10cap. So much to discuss and only so much time to do it. Tanya,
- 0:13welcome to the show. You know, it's going to be a good show when we're
- 0:16like, does Draymond Green have a point? Oh my God. We're the regulars.
- 0:26You are welcome back to another amazing Friday night. And yes, you are live right
- 0:29here with your best friends. Grab your drink. It is time for the regulars.
- 0:32We got a lot of sports to talk about and only so much time to
- 0:35do it because I got to get to the airport to get over to Las
- 0:38Vegas to see not only the Foo Fighters but Queens of the Stone Age,
- 0:42which I didn't even know was opening up for them. And I might be more
- 0:45excited for that than I am the Foo Fighters. Exciting. Yeah, I actually probably would
- 0:47be too. I'm not sure how I feel about the Foo Fighters in this current
- 0:50iteration. Is that because of the recent, uh, cheating? Not allegations, but facts.
- 0:54Uh, yeah, I don't care about, uh, about cheating. Like, again, like you and I
- 0:58have talked about, it's not my business. It's not my business. Like, whatever. Like,
- 1:00If it happens to my friends, like, then I'm unhappy, then I'm bummed
- 1:05for them. Like, yeah, but like, I don't know Dave Grohl's wife, right? Exactly.
- 1:07It's more about the, the child he was cheating with. She was
- 1:12quite young. She was like 19. Was she that young? Yeah, I thought she was
- 1:15like in her mid-20s. Like when they started, when he— oh yeah, it was like
- 1:18real young. Yeah, it's like Jerry Seinfeld in like '98.
- 1:22Yeah, Google it. Or don't if you really love Jerry Seinfeld, you don't want to
- 1:26learn something horrible. But if you are going to eliminate all of
- 1:30the creeps who technically sleep with legal-aged women way
- 1:34younger than them, we would not see a lot of concerts. So we're picking and
- 1:38choosing our spots, and I think it's gonna be a great show. I think so
- 1:41too. Allegiant Stadium, which I haven't been to yet, so I'm really fired up for
- 1:44that. Oh shit, I've driven by it a shit ton, but I've never actually been
- 1:46inside it. Real fucking nice. I haven't been in either. Fired up. But I have
- 1:50a question for you. You know, you know the lead singer of, uh, of,
- 1:53uh, Queens of the Stone Age, right? Josh Homme. Sure. Like, I mean, I'm familiar,
- 1:57but I would like you to Google him. I'd like you to look up a
- 1:59photo of him because I want your honest opinion. Because here's the thing. He used
- 2:02to be just this nerdy, gangly redhead who I— who was just
- 2:06the lead singer and a really good musician. Now he's like 55.
- 2:10Even, even I'm fucking attracted to him. Holy shit.
- 2:14You want to see a glow up? I think Josh Homme has done the biggest
- 2:16glow up in the history of rock and roll. Okay, now I see what you're
- 2:20saying. It's crazy. I see what you're— that's not like— I remembered what he looked
- 2:23like. OG. Yeah. Kind of like always had that like orangey hair,
- 2:27right? Yeah, now he's got like, you know, white hair and the white beard,
- 2:31and it's all really well put together, and he's in good shape, and he looks
- 2:33really good. No, you're right. And like, and so I think one girl posted a
- 2:37really funny meme of old Josh Homme and current Josh Homme, and it just said
- 2:41underneath, no one knows. That's really
- 2:45good, good stuff. Yeah, you'll have to take some, um, footage of him, how he
- 2:49looks rocking out. I will, I absolutely will. I'm pretty fired up to get over
- 2:52to Vegas, flying out tonight. If you're in Vegas, say hi to me if you
- 2:55see me. Uh, yeah, and I won't be there because I don't get to go
- 2:58to do the cool thing, but I am doing a cool thing with you next
- 3:00weekend. You are. But to be fair, to be fair, the reason why I'm going,
- 3:03it's not even me. My buddy Chris— yeah, I was invited. My buddy Chris doesn't
- 3:06know me and didn't invite me, and that's actually valid. That will be fixed next
- 3:09time, I promise. Which, once Chris gets to know you, he's never gonna invite me
- 3:13to shit ever again. That's what keeps happening to you. So, uh, as I learned
- 3:16at the Rose Bowl last week, I am just small potatoes next to the one
- 3:18and only Tonya Rae Fox. Yeah. Well, you know, that's what you get for having
- 3:21a cool co-host. But I have to be honest, Cody, people are loving you.
- 3:24My, my people that I brought to this podcast. Yeah.
- 3:28You know, my crew, which is significant. It's not insignificant.
- 3:32You know, my people love Cody. Now, I have— they have repeatedly
- 3:36accidentally called you Corey. And then they— happens. And then they— I'm like, oh,
- 3:40Cody. And they're like, yes, yes, yes, of course. And they're like, so cute.
- 3:42You have to understand, I have no issue or ego when it comes to that
- 3:46because I've ordered meals my entire life over the phone. Corey. Hi,
- 3:50Cody. Corey? Cody. Tony? Cody. Kobe. Yes, it's fucking Kobe. They nailed
- 3:54it. I'll see you in a minute. Kobe Bryant, thank you for coming. Appreciate it.
- 3:57Yeah, they're gonna be very disappointed when they see this, this young white boy walk
- 4:00in the door. Well, you know who would be really disappointed to see a young
- 4:03white boy walk in the door? Oh, headline number one. The Atlanta Falcons,
- 4:07because they have a fucking quarterback, baby! Who knew?
- 4:11Fucking Michael Penix Jr., man. And I'm happy for him because he looked,
- 4:14he looked real shaky in the first quarter and then really
- 4:18kind of stepped within himself and looked great. What happens when you're like— it's so
- 4:21funny, every time these guys come back from injury, we're like, oh, they look like
- 4:25shit right away. You're like, yeah, dude, no shit, he's been rehabbing
- 4:28for 10 months. Like, he— the fact that he played as well as he did
- 4:31in that game was fucking crazy. So Thursday Night Football, they controlled
- 4:36the game against the Packers the entire game. Like, that— it was not really— it
- 4:39never really felt like a game after the first quarter, not even a little.
- 4:43Well, there's, you know, Michael Penix Jr. is the B-plot of this,
- 4:47uh, particular game, even though he's the A plot of the, of the
- 4:51Falcons because he's, you know, the quarterback is the story.
- 4:55But in this specific game, it was really like
- 4:58Bijan Robinson being like, hey guys,
- 5:02just a reminder, I'm literally one of the best players in the NFL. Oh my
- 5:05God. Just wanted everybody to know I'm one of the best players. What are your
- 5:08thoughts on the Robinsons in the backfield of, of the wonderful Atlanta Falcons?
- 5:12Because both Robinsons had touchdowns. Full, full-on 3 touchdowns
- 5:16from the B Robinsons. And yeah, and by the way, I do wonder how many
- 5:18people accidentally drafted the wrong Robinson this year in their fantasy draft?
- 5:23A lot of people, I bet. 100%. I bet so many people.
- 5:26But, you know, like, you didn't get a bad running back. No, you got a
- 5:28really good one. Just not the one you wanted your first pick on. You picked
- 5:30him too high. Yeah. But, you know, let's go through some sort of
- 5:35through the game specifically, because I think this was actually a way more fascinating game
- 5:38than it was like a fun game to watch. It was fun to watch if
- 5:41you were a Falcons fan, for sure. But Michael Penix Jr. completely changed this
- 5:45offense. This offense was atrocious over the first 2 weeks.
- 5:49His presence there, it's not just about the raw stats, which were
- 5:53pretty good, by the way. By the end of the game, were pretty fucking good.
- 5:55He had completed 18 of 25 passes for 256 yards,
- 5:58a touchdown, and Atlanta had 500 total yards of offense
- 6:03along with Bijan Robinson and Brian Robinson. So this offense
- 6:07just looked different. It did. It looked amazing. Michael Penix Jr.
- 6:11is the perfect perfect fucking Atlanta Falcons quarterback.
- 6:15He is, he is exactly like what
- 6:19is perfect for that franchise. He was talking about his favorite quarterbacks all
- 6:23time, right? Like he, he went through them. Yeah. And he was like, oh,
- 6:26Mike Vick, Warren Moon, Lamar Jackson.
- 6:30I think I forget who else was on there. It might have been Donovan McNabb.
- 6:33It's all Black quarterbacks. Michael Penix Jr.
- 6:37knows who he is, the type of quarterback he is, and the type of quarterback
- 6:40he wants to be. And I was incredibly high on him coming out of college.
- 6:43Uh, so I can back myself up on this. I've been rooting for him
- 6:47and I was really high on him. Um, Bijan Robinson looked like the best
- 6:51running back in the NFL. Really did. And, and this is a, this is
- 6:54a running back league right now. Like, quarterbacks are getting hurt left
- 6:58and right and the running backs are taking over. I actually, I'm so fucking happy
- 7:02about that considering the fact that the, the running back position has
- 7:05been so undervalued for years. And I've always made this point to people. I'm like,
- 7:08How do they constantly undervalue it? I understand it's a dangerous
- 7:13position, but based on the injuries that we've been seeing in the NFL the last
- 7:15couple of years, clearly the most dangerous position is the quarterback. And that piece is
- 7:18getting paid through the roof while the running backs have been pretty stagnant.
- 7:22So I'm glad to start seeing guys starting to get paid. You who helped sort
- 7:26of bolster that and like get everybody out of that, like that
- 7:31sort of stuck margin is, is the quarterback, is the running backs over
- 7:36the last couple of years. It has resurged. And they're making,
- 7:39they're making it clear that like, if you're going to be a real competitor in
- 7:43this league right now, you need the running back, especially,
- 7:47especially if you don't have a particularly super elite running quarterback.
- 7:51Right. I mean, look at what Kenneth Walker is doing already in just 2 games
- 7:54in Kansas City. It's insane. It's like, holy shit. Like, you have—
- 7:58has the Chiefs been sitting on this technology for the last decade?
- 8:01They haven't had a running back like forever. You don't need a running back when
- 8:05you have Tyreek Hill, right? But then— and Travis Kelce in his
- 8:08prime. But then all of a sudden, You do it. That's what I love about,
- 8:12uh, NFL offenses and the NFL in general, football in general.
- 8:16Season to season, you see these, like, these trends for over
- 8:21these 2, 3-year spans that you just don't see in other sports.
- 8:24Yeah, you don't see basketball change this dramatically over
- 8:28the, like, every couple of years. It just doesn't happen. Same thing with baseball,
- 8:32same thing. Like, it's not built for that. But all— but Constant
- 8:36scheme changes, constant like adapting to new things is
- 8:40always happening in football. And it's why it like keeps my little ADHD brain so
- 8:44like locked in. Drake London also had a fucking massive
- 8:47game. So like, first of all,
- 8:52I want to make it very clear, Drake London is sick. Hands,
- 8:55all hands team. Dude catches balls slower
- 8:59than I would like. Yes. You notice that too, huh?
- 9:03I was wondering if anyone— I was like, huh? Is he running in fucking water?
- 9:06He is. Great catch. I realize he's 6'4. Like,
- 9:09he's, he's big and long. Yeah, man. Or he might even be 6'5.
- 9:13He's tall as fuck. He's the size of a tight end. And so he— and
- 9:16he moves a lot more like a tight end. But also, like, it was just
- 9:20funny because there would be times where he had an open field and I'm like,
- 9:22man, he's getting caught. Like, a real— and then there was one where he did
- 9:25a cut and he was like— it was like the slowest juke move. You know
- 9:28what's funny? It gives me— it gives me new appreciation for somebody who is extremely
- 9:32talented, like a— and when I say new appreciation, I'm referring only to his on-field
- 9:35talent, uh, of Puka Nacua. Kuba because his YAC yardage is
- 9:39just like ridiculous. Is Puka that big? He's pretty fucking big. I know
- 9:43he's not small. He's pretty big. I'm standing next to him. I don't know
- 9:47this, but I would guess that based on my experience, I would say 6'3.
- 9:50Okay. 6'3 and probably 240, maybe 230. He's a
- 9:55big kid. Thick dude. He's a big kid. Yeah. Like he's, he's built like a
- 9:58tank, but he moves like he's fucking fast. He's fast. Drake,
- 10:01though, has, has hands for days. And I really thought it was an incredible performance.
- 10:05We have to talk a little bit about what's going on with the Packers,
- 10:07though. Specifically. Holy shit, because this is just about— they are fucking
- 10:11bad, you know. Oh, we need to put it on record that as happy
- 10:14as I am for both Falcons fans, Michael Penix Jr., who I'm psyched about,
- 10:17and I actually think this was a real coming-out game for him,
- 10:21all, all of everybody on the Falcons, it pains me that this benefits Kevin
- 10:25Stefanski. It pains me to my core. It's real annoying.
- 10:29It's really annoying. He tried so hard to be like Cooper Rush
- 10:33could be the guy, and now he's like I told you guys Michael Pettix was
- 10:37awesome. Fuck you. Oh, fuck off. Fuck off.
- 10:41Yeah, it's like you just, you, you just fucking walked into Willie
- 10:45Beeman. Shut up. You didn't, you didn't do this. You didn't do
- 10:48this. You got lucky. He saved your fucking
- 10:51career, Al Pacino. Yeah. Um, on the flip side,
- 10:55Matt Lefleur. I was, I was defending Matt Lefleur up until last year.
- 10:59I thought Matt Lefleur was an improvement over Mike McCarthy.
- 11:03He was. Um, and I thought he was. Yeah, he was. And,
- 11:06and had really like instituted a legitimate offense there that worked.
- 11:10I liked how Jordan Love looked early on, whatever. Like, that shit has gone so
- 11:14stale. Um, Jordan Love threw 53 passes
- 11:19in that game while the Packers only had 9 rushing attempts for 17 yards.
- 11:23I have run the numbers on this before. I didn't do it before this show.
- 11:27But when you have a quarterback throwing over 50 times in
- 11:31any game, bad. Yeah. Your quarterback
- 11:35should never be throwing that much. Never, never, never. And if he
- 11:39is, it should be because you played a full overtime period and you
- 11:43still ran the ball 30 times. Like, it just— it should be an anomaly.
- 11:46Yes. But that's— that right there.
- 11:49And I cannot stress this enough. That is coaching malpractice.
- 11:54I— Jordan Love is being set up to fail in
- 11:58a way that is really frustrating me. He's not off the hook.
- 12:01He is not off the hook. And I'm not saying that, but every
- 12:05single— bar none, I would say this about Justin Herbert. I would say this
- 12:09about quarterbacks I hate. And when they have to throw the ball 50 times and
- 12:14you haven't rushed it more than 10, it's a problem. That's not on you anymore.
- 12:17No, no, that's not on you. That's just bad coaching. That's a bad scheme.
- 12:20That's a bad everything. They couldn't establish anything
- 12:23other than Love and, you know, repeatedly left it on him to deal
- 12:27with it. And their discipline issues are, are really coming through.
- 12:31That is coaching always, every time, is it not? It's coaching.
- 12:35Green Bay entered the game having committed an NFL-high 26 penalties through 2
- 12:39weeks. The problems continued Thursday. One particularly costly sequence came
- 12:43after Atlanta appeared to face 3rd and long. A roughing the passer penalty gave
- 12:47the Falcons a first down, and Bijan immediately ripped off a 55-yard run that set
- 12:50up their first touchdown. This is a team that is in complete
- 12:54disarray. And I'm not— I can't look anywhere
- 12:59but Matt LaFleur, who was already on the hot seat. Yes. Already starting to get
- 13:02some eye rolls, was already saying, look at what Ben Johnson's doing. Look at what
- 13:05Dan Campbell's done. Look at what, you know, what KOC— like these other teams in
- 13:09the division. Tanya, did you just see the face of their fans
- 13:13yesterday? Yeah. That's all you need. Like, it's all you— there was a woman.
- 13:17To be fair, Packers fans are— No, no, no. I'm enjoying this. I want to
- 13:20make this abundantly clear. Yeah. I really don't love Packer fans.
- 13:23Don't hate them, but don't love them either. Seeing them in
- 13:27pain brought me at least a little bit of joy. Seeing the
- 13:30woman taking her pulse was the funniest fucking thing
- 13:34I'd ever seen in my life. She did like a news interview about that,
- 13:37by the way. I know, because the Packers were trying to kill her and
- 13:40it was amazing. I cannot stress enough the disappointing faces,
- 13:44the good Prime Video. I have never given you guys credit for any
- 13:48Thursday Night Football. I usually dislike Thursday Night Football and the production's always been A+.
- 13:53Last night, that was funny as fuck. A fucking plus. Just every single Packer fan
- 13:57that you guys found. I'm going to do that when, when you start saying something
- 14:00boring, I'm going to be like, not that you ever do that, really, but like,
- 14:03if you do, if you ever do, that's what I'm going to do. You haven't.
- 14:07You haven't. I'm just, I'm just letting you know if I ever do it,
- 14:10that's what's happening. Good to know. Fuck me. I did say it hasn't happened
- 14:14yet. Yeah, trust me. I'm not the most boring guy in the world. No,
- 14:16you're not. No, you're not boring at all. I know. That's why it would be
- 14:20surprising if I somehow bore you. Then we got just— the Packers.
- 14:23Packers. I'm surprised I'm bored by them. I really am.
- 14:27Like, I, I have— I, I've always thought that
- 14:31this iteration of the Packers was actually like more interesting than late-stage Aaron
- 14:35Rodgers Packers, even when he was in MVP mode. So I'm concerned. I'm officially
- 14:39concerned. They look like trash. What do we got? Good question here.
- 14:43Who is your favorite slash least favorite fans? Oh,
- 14:47I know. Okay, so I got this off the top of my head. Let's go.
- 14:49My least favorite fans are 49ers fans.
- 14:53I get that. And it's like— and this is— it's my girlfriend's a
- 14:5749er fan. Yeah. And it sucks to say because like I actually in my life
- 15:00have a lot of like cool 49ers fans and in my following that I do
- 15:04like them. But by and large, as a fandom, they are a full
- 15:08They're an extreme don't-know-ball fan base. I don't know why. It does not make
- 15:12any sense. And when I say that, I mean like, I— they— I can't get—
- 15:16they have no self-awareness. And I, I, I've broken
- 15:20through with every fan base, like even ones that I don't always get along with.
- 15:23There's like pockets of them. Unless someone is my— which
- 15:28sounds self-centered, but unless someone is my follower or my friend,
- 15:3149ers fans are really hard to discourse with. I get that.
- 15:35Favorite fans? My favorite fans are Jets fans.
- 15:39My favorite fans are Jets fans because I— when I meet Jets fans,
- 15:42they are completely self-aware. They ride hard.
- 15:46They do. They never— they've— there's no reason for them to still like that team,
- 15:50and they still do. That is— they're never like— there is no shit
- 15:53talk. They don't do the thing where they, they shit talk me because I'm a
- 15:56Patriots fan. Like, they'll do like, oh yeah, but they— but they're not actual
- 16:00dicks where I've had Bills fans be dicks to me, Dolphins fans. Jets fans are
- 16:03so beaten down, but, but like deeply loyal.
- 16:07And, and I like my whole life, I've never seen less
- 16:11Jets fans and they should have no fans. And this isn't
- 16:14a Browns situation where there's like all this
- 16:18other drama. The Jets have just been there the whole time. There's no Deshaun Watson.
- 16:23They got Geno. They got a cool coach and a cool quarterback.
- 16:27I'm team Jets fans. Um, so my honorable mention of
- 16:31these— and they know ball, by the way. That they— some of them do.
- 16:33Yes. Well, I mean, we're talking broad strokes. I want to say this. My honorable
- 16:36mention for least favorite— I'm giving them an honorable mention, okay— is Jets fans.
- 16:40And I'm going to tell you why, okay? And it's very simple, because normally,
- 16:44based on what you just said, I would normally agree with you like 100%.
- 16:48They, they ride or die with this team that has done nothing but bludgeon
- 16:51them over the fucking head for 50-plus years. That being said,
- 16:55I was there in 2023 and the actions
- 16:59of Jets fans and through the whole Aaron Rodgers shit
- 17:03all the way into that Game 1 when he ran out holding the flag.
- 17:06Jets fans while living in New York City, like, like at the game or in
- 17:10the city? In the city. Leading up those 3 months leading up
- 17:14to that first set of downs. Yeah. Was the most annoying grouping
- 17:18of human beings I had ever seen in my life. They went from being Jets
- 17:23fans, understanding who they were to We are now world
- 17:27championship Jets fans. It's our league and none of you.
- 17:31It was the most insane, batshit behavior
- 17:35I've ever seen. And it was. But this is where I'm going to give them
- 17:37credit. On play 4, they remembered
- 17:42who they were again. Yeah, it's like I feel like that's how you
- 17:45act when you get a first ballot Hall of Fame quarterback. I get it.
- 17:48But it was, it was rough. I was in New York. I was in the
- 17:51shit. I'll tell you who sucked. It was tough. I'll tell you who sucked when
- 17:53they got a great quarterback. The 14 Bucs fans. Oh dude, they sucked. Dude,
- 17:57Bucs fans are so bad. They suck. They're on my list. Yeah, but number one,
- 18:01I'm sorry, guys, probably all watching the show, he's a huge Bucs fan. I'm sorry,
- 18:04but they sucked. Um, I will say my least favorite fan base though,
- 18:07truly, it used to be the Cowboys, but now, now they're just fucking
- 18:11funny that they won't give up on them boys. Um, it's Chiefs fans.
- 18:15Chiefs fans have become so fucking annoying. Um,
- 18:19yeah, so fucking annoying. It's a See, to me, I can't do that
- 18:23because I'm a Patriots fan. I get it. Chiefs fans, I get it.
- 18:26But they've just become, you know— but I get it. I understand why you've become
- 18:30this. You, you expect— that's why, that's how I hate— why I hate 49ers
- 18:34fans. They act like they've won. They do do that. Oh my— I'm sorry,
- 18:38where, where are you? I wasn't, I wasn't sentient
- 18:42enough to remember. 1994 was a shit ton of a long time ago.
- 18:45They— but they act like Chiefs fans. So like, to me, it's like, if you're
- 18:49going to act like that, you better win. Thank you for the side quest there.
- 18:52Great side quest. Whoever asked the question, I didn't read who asked the question.
- 18:54That would have been Isaiah, actually. Oh, that was Isaiah. Okay, great job, Isaiah.
- 18:58All right. We're going to look ahead at the rest of week 3. Oh,
- 19:02I'm sorry. It was Julia. Julia Bell, that actually. Oh, it was Julia. Julia.
- 19:05Sorry, Julia. You get the credit. Thank you, Julia. We're going to look ahead at
- 19:09the rest of week 3 real quick. I put a few games in
- 19:13here, but if there's a game I left out that you want to talk about,
- 19:15feel free. Chargers at Bills is shaping up to be a bloodbath.
- 19:19Could be the nail in the coffin of including Justin Herbert in conversations with Josh
- 19:22Allen. And I'm not going to lie, fine by me. I hope Josh Allen
- 19:27has the game of his life. Bludgeons him. Me too. And it's
- 19:30not Justin Herbert's fault anymore. Not even a little. It really never has been.
- 19:34It really never has been. Like I said last show, he does not
- 19:38rank himself. But like, it's time. It's time
- 19:41something changed. It's time something happened. And as
- 19:45much as Josh Allen gets, you know, the kind of treatment that other
- 19:49quarterbacks don't, I actually don't think he's talked
- 19:52about in a way that is disproportionate with his talent. I think
- 19:56that other quarterbacks are talked about in ways that don't give them
- 20:00enough credit. Fair. It's, you know what I mean? Where it's like, if just
- 20:03talk about Lamar the way you talk about Josh Allen. Completely. Just talk about Jalen
- 20:07the way you talk about Josh Allen. And let's talk about all of them that
- 20:09way. And I'm good to go. No, I'm with you. Like, I've been very hard,
- 20:12especially in the last few weeks. Very hard on Justin Herbert. I've actually had a
- 20:15couple of videos that have done really, really well talking very harshly on
- 20:19Justin Herbert. Here's the thing. I don't dislike Justin Herbert even a little. I actually—
- 20:23I mean, do you dislike him? He is kind of a dick. Okay, I can
- 20:26see that. But I don't blame him. But I don't blame him. But here's the
- 20:29story. My thing is, my issue with Justin Herbert, and it's the
- 20:33same issue I've had with Josh Allen, it's actually the exact same
- 20:37issue. It's just how they've skirted any semblance of criticism. Him.
- 20:41It's not that they're— it's not that they're bad. I think Josh Allen is one
- 20:44of, if not the best quarterback in the NFL. I personally think it's Lamar Jackson.
- 20:47That being said, if you make your argument that Josh Allen— I'm not going to
- 20:50sit here and say you're a fucking idiot. Josh Allen's fucking great. Not a crazy
- 20:54take. Yeah, yeah, it's not like he's suggesting a bum. Not at all. But like,
- 20:57when Josh Allen makes a really stupid mistake, there are 90 million people
- 21:01out of the woodwork to defend it, right? And Justin Herbert's got nothing but that
- 21:05for 7 straight years. And it's been driving me a little nuts. And I've heard
- 21:09some other people like try to make the argument to me, who's like, well,
- 21:11this is the same thing with you Raider fans and Derek Carr. Derek Carr
- 21:15was never on a team that was earmarked to be a fucking
- 21:19Super Bowl hopeful. They were never even earmarked to be fucking above last
- 21:24place in their division his like entire tenure. Yeah, so you know better
- 21:28than I. Derek Carr was given like a lot of leeway.
- 21:32He was given some love. Absolutely. Derek Carr was also I think
- 21:36disproportionately criticized. I thought he was disproportionately
- 21:40criticized for stuff that wasn't necessary. He, he does
- 21:43remind me a lot of like a Jared Goff. Very similar.
- 21:47Very similar. And by the way, that's— I didn't— I'm not going to sit here
- 21:50and say that Derek Carr was like the end-all be-all. By all means, he was
- 21:53a solid quarterback on just really bad years of teams. Yeah.
- 21:57Justin Herbert is a supposedly superb quarterback.
- 22:00Yeah, on a really fucking good team, yet he never
- 22:04fucking wins. I'm sorry, that's my issue. I'm wondering when that criticism will actually
- 22:09stick, and now it actually is. But this time I'm actually looking at like,
- 22:12well, this one legitimately is not all his fault. And at what point do we
- 22:16in any way, shape, or form— because we've moved out of— this is
- 22:21a new development in the last couple years— we've moved out of talking about coaching
- 22:23ever. I'm gonna bring it back. I'm bringing it back. That's why I'm talking about
- 22:26Lafleur. When do we start talking about Jim Harbaugh? We need to,
- 22:30because Jim Harbaugh is in
- 22:34his tenure— was supposed to be the thing that got, that got Justin Herbert
- 22:39over the hump. And I understood the hiring. I liked the hiring. It is
- 22:42not working out. Jim Harbaugh is 11-6, 11-6, and now 0-2.
- 22:4611-6 is good as hell. Very much. Uh, 11-6, is that right?
- 22:50That's only 17 games. Yeah, there's 17 games. My brain
- 22:54is getting used to 11-6. Oh. Look at you. It's finally happening because for
- 22:58a while I was like 10-6 always. Look at you. You're only— you're already ready
- 23:01for 18 games. You're already pre— I can't believe it. I'm a psycho.
- 23:04Um, so 11-6 is, is a like— that's great. No,
- 23:09no playoff wins, right? Whatever. Um, 0-3.
- 23:12This is, this is the same coach that went to
- 23:17multiple NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl with Colin Kaepernick,
- 23:21who apparently wasn't good enough to play in the NFL anymore after he Took
- 23:25a knee. I'm tired. I'm— I think
- 23:29that he's getting off scot-fucking-free. And our obsession
- 23:33on both sides with talking about Justin Herbert has led us a bit astray
- 23:37from the situation at the head coach position, which, by the way, does anyone remember
- 23:41how the fuck he left Michigan? Oh, I definitely remember. Exactly. Under normal
- 23:45circumstances, Pete Carroll-esque.
- 23:48Indeed. Yes. The only difference is Pete Carroll actually
- 23:52coached that team like without cheat— like there was no cheating allegations.
- 23:57The allegation was that he fucking— that his star got paid.
- 24:02Oh, what? No way. College football?
- 24:05No. Now do I think that— do I think they won a title because they
- 24:09cheated? No. I almost never think that's the case when people are talking about cheating.
- 24:12I've talked to you about that. Like, I don't even think the Astros won a
- 24:15title because of cheating. I just don't think that stuff. I get it. But I
- 24:19do think that there's a— that you get in trouble for it for a reason.
- 24:22And I don't like— Belichick should have gotten in trouble.
- 24:25The Astros should have gotten in trouble. If you get caught, you get caught.
- 24:28Sorry, it happens. But like, guys, where is that? So I'm—
- 24:32I'm— I would like to see Jim Harbaugh face the music and getting
- 24:35absolutely his ass handed to him by a 36-year-old head coach.
- 24:39That'll do the trick. But you know how this is going to go. The first
- 24:41head that's going to roll is going to be Mike— Mike McDaniel. I firmly believe
- 24:45that. Poor Mike. Poor old Mike. Poor Mike. Nice guy.
- 24:49Funny guy. I enjoy him. Don't know what his deal is.
- 24:53I think he just needs to go back to— was he with Shanahan or was
- 24:56he with me? He was with Shanahan. Yeah, I think he needs to go back.
- 24:58Yeah. You know how Shanahan takes his guys back? Rehab. Yeah, I know.
- 25:02You got to— you got to go full fucking Saleh. Yeah. Sometimes you
- 25:06got to go the full Saleh, man. Yeah, you got to. By the way,
- 25:09Saleh getting that first win last week, good for him. Uh, rooting for Saleh.
- 25:13Always rooting for Robert Saleh. I hate that the only coaching jobs he keeps getting
- 25:16is the worst teams in the NFL. I know, it's pretty shitty. I'm still rooting
- 25:18for him. Um, but at least he's getting them, where we can't say that for
- 25:21Brian Flores. We'll talk about that later. Oh boy. Ravens at Cowboys in Rio.
- 25:25This is going to be in Brazil, as, um, as Lamar pointed out. He was
- 25:29like— reporter asked him what he feels like, if he feels like the
- 25:32Cowboys are still America's team. He was like, we're gonna be in Brazil. Yeah,
- 25:36it's not America. But I will tell you this, as much as I fucking hate
- 25:40that America's Team shit and the fucking Cowboys and their annoying-ass fans,
- 25:44I hate to admit this because it just is factually true. So far,
- 25:48this far in the season, this last game was the highest-rated
- 25:53game in the NFL thus far this season. I mean, the Cowboy game this last
- 25:56weekend. I think that something that we, we can't lie
- 26:00about is that Jerry Jones built an absolute
- 26:04monster of a brand. He did. That is inarguable.
- 26:08I give the same credit to Jerry Buss. I give the same
- 26:12credit to all of these dudes who— but I mean,
- 26:16are, you know, Steinbrenner. Like, these are— when you
- 26:19combine, uh, a dynasty with very,
- 26:23very good marketing, this is what you get. Make no mistake. And I hate Jerry
- 26:26Jones, but fuck, I'm not gonna say he didn't do it, right? So he did.
- 26:29So I will say this. This is a— the Dak versus
- 26:32Lamar thing is very big for football heads because those
- 26:36were the 2 MVP candidates in 2023
- 26:40when Lamar won his, his second MVP. There are a lot of people who thought
- 26:44it should have gone to Dak Prescott, who had bigger touchdown numbers and, you know,
- 26:47whatever passing. Yeah, right.
- 26:50Because we don't count rushing. God forbid Lamar led his
- 26:53team in rushing that year. Did not— not quarterbacks,
- 26:57like, not— he led his whole team. Yes. Yeah. Uh,
- 27:00so I was still pro Lamar in that, but Dak is, um, an excellent
- 27:04quarterback that absolutely did have an MVP-caliber season. And this is a, you know,
- 27:07so it's a little bit of a contentious thing between Cowboys and Ravens fans.
- 27:10So I like that under— that underpinning of it. Um, and we
- 27:15got 2 dueling storylines. Can the Ravens bounce back, and can
- 27:19the Cowboys defense stop the bleeding? Because we've seen what the Ravens offense can
- 27:23look like with Lamar at any given moment. Do we have notice
- 27:26on Zay Flowers' health? Not that I've seen yet.
- 27:29Obviously, that makes a big difference. It does. Is he still questionable? Was he questionable
- 27:33or is he out? That's the thing. I thought he was still going— was still
- 27:37potentially playing this. I thought so too. Maybe I'm off, but I have not heard
- 27:39or seen anything. So hard to keep up on with all these injuries. It's crazy.
- 27:43But you saw about Bosa today, right? What? Oh, Nick Bosa is probably
- 27:47out for the year. Oh, no. Poor guy. That's really—
- 27:51hearing these things about the Bosa is really awful. So bad. That— no,
- 27:54that's so awful. I hate this. I'm really sad to hear
- 27:58that. I really don't root for injuries. I hate that poor guy.
- 28:01That happened. Um, so, uh,
- 28:05what do you think? I, I'm— I very much feel like these overseas—
- 28:09or overseas, I mean, they're not going overseas— these other,
- 28:13other country, other time zone ass games, um, are a little
- 28:17bit difficult to predict. You just don't know. It's, it's very much like Who traveled
- 28:20better, who's in, you know, just who's in a better headspace kind of thing.
- 28:23I think they're very, very mental. I think that's why the Niners kicked the fuck
- 28:25out of the Rams. And they did a mental thing. I think I'm getting—
- 28:30I've officially already— we're in week 3. I've already grown tired of every international game.
- 28:34I understand what we're doing it, but I've just— I've had enough of it.
- 28:36The gimmick is— yeah, is beyond dead to me at this point.
- 28:40But yeah, listen, I love— I don't love it either. I get it. Money.
- 28:43You got to do it for money. Yeah. I'm leaning towards the Ravens. They're just
- 28:47a flat out better team. That being said, you're not wrong. There's such a weird
- 28:51aspect of these international games where you just can't predict them. Yeah, but I got
- 28:54to say, I think, I think Baltimore is going to be feeling a little pressure
- 28:57if they drop this game, go 1-2 to start the season. It's Bad News Bears.
- 28:59Yeah, that'll be Bad News Bears. I also— it also
- 29:04depends on like what unit looks— does— is it the defense that falls apart?
- 29:07Is it the offense? Like, what the fuck is going on? But I
- 29:10do expect— I do expect Lamar to look a little bit better. Same,
- 29:13same, same. Rams at Broncos is elite offense versus elite defense.
- 29:18I love that shit. That's my favorite shit in the world is when you have
- 29:20one elite unit going up against another elite unit. Broncos defense really elite.
- 29:24Oh, absolutely. Really? Yes. They haven't been the first 2 games. Yes. Last week.
- 29:28Last week in the second half they were. Yes. It's just a matter of like,
- 29:32like that. Can this personnel be elite
- 29:36when they're— because like the Rams offense wasn't elite in fucking week 1 either.
- 29:39Oh God, no. They're like, you know what I mean? Like, but when we talk
- 29:41about these, these units at their best, Um, these players and the matchups at their
- 29:45best, what does it look like? What is the best unit on each team?
- 29:48Um, no, the Broncos defense is legit. Like, I, I still believe
- 29:52in them. I— shit happens off the top of a season,
- 29:55but that personnel is nuts. I love them. Um,
- 29:58and I, and I hate their head coach, and we'll talk about it later,
- 30:00but I love the— I love the Broncos defense. Um, but I would
- 30:04like to see the Rams perform against a good defense. So would I. So interested
- 30:08in that. Um, buddy, Vikings.
- 30:11Vikings at Bucs. Kyler. Kyler's back, baby. I'm— dude,
- 30:15I'm fired up for this. I want to see it. I want to see a
- 30:18full fucking game of Kyler Murray in this system. And I, I'm a believer.
- 30:21I'm a full-on believer. The end. The fucking end. I cannot wait to see
- 30:25what he does. My fantasy team are all in on him. Um, I love this
- 30:28game because number one, uh, it is Kyler's back, but it's the
- 30:32Scramble Bowl because Kyler— both Kyler and Baker run
- 30:36with the ball like little assholes. Like, just— they just fucking
- 30:40waved that thing around. Now, it's one thing to wave it around if you're 6'5,
- 30:44240, Josh Allen. Those tiny little idiots run
- 30:48around with that ball like morons. Scramble Bowl,
- 30:52excited to see it. Um, excited to see what,
- 30:55uh, if— because Baker's— Baker's going up on,
- 30:59on being like 0-3, right? Is that because they Again,
- 31:03and now he has to go up against Brian Flores's defense. You earned your
- 31:07fucking contract, my guy. Do something. Do something. You don't even have to win the
- 31:11game. Just do something. Do something. So I'm intrigued. What do you think about Raiders
- 31:15at Saints? I'm so excited. I do have the Raiders in this game, believe it
- 31:17or not. But knowing full well how good the Saints have been and how great
- 31:20Tyler Shook has been in New Orleans— in New Orleans. But it's a surprising—
- 31:25in Las Vegas, I'd feel a little better. Here's the thing. It's, it's a relatively
- 31:29even spread. Last I checked, it was about 3.5 points, which is, you know,
- 31:32basically giving it to the home team. The, the home game— the home team gets
- 31:363 points, always gets 3 points. So they're giving them a slight little edge,
- 31:38slight little edge. And I'm just excited to watch the game. Brock Bowers is making
- 31:42his debut. The reason why I'm thinking— is he definitely? Because he's still listed
- 31:45as questionable. That's what they said. They said he's making his debut this weekend.
- 31:48I'm very excited for that. And the reason why is because Kirk Cousins utilizes
- 31:51tight ends better than any other quarterback in the NFL for the last
- 31:5510 years. I'm really looking forward to seeing what it's going to look like with
- 31:58Kirk Cousins with those other weapons And the fact that he has arguably the best
- 32:02tight end in the game with him right now. I, I don't know what it's
- 32:05gonna be. I think he utilizes tight ends better than anybody. He does. The numbers
- 32:09stated he utilizes tight ends. We're talking about efficiency numbers or like total like
- 32:13targeting usage? Both, actually. Usage total? He's exceedingly efficient
- 32:17with tight ends. He loves leaning on them. Yeah, I don't
- 32:21know though. Like, I'm thinking, so what is he— he was with TJ Hockenson or
- 32:25whoever. Was that— that might help. That might help quite a bit. No, I'm not
- 32:28But I'm like, I'm trying to think, like, I'm trying to remember. I'm like,
- 32:31this is a dude who played with Justin Jefferson for a little— like, are we
- 32:34fucking serious? Like, I don't know if that's really— well, we'll see. We'll see.
- 32:38He's got Brock Bowers and he's got other— and dude, he's got tools that I
- 32:41didn't even fuck— Cody White is apparently one of the best fucking wide receivers in
- 32:44the game right now. You really never know. Uh, by the way, Zay Flowers is
- 32:47questionable. Okay, so just— I just want to make sure that we put that on
- 32:50record on our show so people listening aren't like, these guys don't give us any
- 32:53information. Not at all. But Tanya, do me a favor. I'm a Raider fan.
- 32:55Talk to me Talk to me. Like, I want, I want to fucking— I want
- 32:59to like black out my entire fandom and I want to just be
- 33:03told facts. I know my facts are coming through a little bit of rose-colored lenses
- 33:07because we're 2-0 and I don't understand this world. I think the litmus
- 33:11test— so my— the— what I wrote in the notes was that I feel
- 33:15like this is a litmus test. This— when you play the Saints, it's a litmus
- 33:18test for your defense. Uh, both the Lions And
- 33:22the Ravens came in, I think, pretty confidently that they could handle
- 33:26Tyler Shook and that offense. And neither one could.
- 33:30Didn't matter when it was. And it's usually later in the game.
- 33:34And so for me,
- 33:37Kirk Cousins can play great. Brock Bowers can look like if he's playing well,
- 33:41he can— or playing and he can look great. Like all of that can be
- 33:44looking great because I don't really think that— I thought
- 33:47Lamar looked amazing for most of the game the other day. I thought that like
- 33:52Jared Goff and, and, and the Lions offense was pretty great
- 33:56against that team. And then all of a sudden things start to turn. And I
- 34:00do think that it's time for a team to say we're going
- 34:04to take Tyler Shuck and Chris Olave and this offense late in games a little
- 34:08bit more seriously. If they can do that,
- 34:11I think it's a great test for your new coach. You know, like this
- 34:15is I love, I love that you're turning around this offense.
- 34:18A little offensive genius. I want to see what you can do to
- 34:22this, to this offense at home late in a game
- 34:25that clearly doesn't give a fuck. Because I don't think Tyler Shuck is
- 34:29the most, uh, talented quarterback in the league, but he also is incredibly
- 34:33composed at the end of games. I've noticed. So I think they can absolutely
- 34:36win it. Am I— would I bet on them? I'm not
- 34:40gonna. No, no, no. I honestly just want to enjoy this game. I want to
- 34:44see— I'm agreeing with you on the litmus test on what it could be.
- 34:46Because I would like to see how your defense— if maybe, if maybe
- 34:50the Raiders defense— because like realistically this isn't a playoff team,
- 34:53but I'd like to see if they've watched some film and learned some things from
- 34:56the last 2 games. Me too. And I, I will say, I, I had— I'm
- 34:59trying to think who I spoke to the other day, but they were talking to
- 35:02me about the Raiders clubhouse and they just said— I, I don't know what else
- 35:05to say— it actually is legitimately different. There is a different atmosphere.
- 35:08By the way, right now Fernando Mendoza I saw a profile from my
- 35:12mutual on TikTok. Um, what is— oh
- 35:16my God, Real Takes. What is his fucking name? Uh, I, I need to remember
- 35:20his name. He's great and he's been mutual, but he did a video about how,
- 35:23um, Fernando Mendoza is actually promoting like financial awareness.
- 35:27Yeah, he's doing it. He's doing a whole video, a whole campaign on that rather
- 35:30than like taking a Calci ad. I think it was called like Fernando on Finances
- 35:34or something like that. Yeah, which I think is cool. It's really cool.
- 35:37Especially when we have this influx of stars who are taking these like prediction market,
- 35:41you know, whatever relationship ads. He also did a commercial that I have
- 35:45to say really made me laugh. I have to
- 35:49say, I think— I mean, listen, I'm open to being a Mendoza head. I,
- 35:52first of all, I do genuinely love him and his relationship
- 35:56with his family. So it's funny you say that. There is a whole video about
- 35:58him saying, yeah, Vegas changes you. You get real wild
- 36:02out here. And it shows. And he's like talking to a guy. They're sitting in
- 36:05like a high-rise in Vegas, like, It's 9 p.m. and I haven't even called my
- 36:08mom yet. Okay. And the guy looks at him, he's like, he just goes like,
- 36:12man, you really have changed. He's like, I really should call her though. He gets
- 36:15out the phone like, this is the greatest commercial. Do I fucking love him?
- 36:18No, I think I love him. He's so cute. That's really
- 36:23cute. It's such a good commercial. Oh, that's adorable. Oh, this guy's the
- 36:27best. All right, closing this out. Patriots at Jags.
- 36:30It's sort of a which high-ceiling white quarterback will overcome unimpressive performances.
- 36:34Dude, your quarterback sucks. Yeah, but Trevor Lawrence did not look good last week.
- 36:38He did not. After a great week 1, which against a bad team,
- 36:41and we gave it a grain of salt, but I was like, okay, he did
- 36:44his job. Oh, not so much in week 2.
- 36:47Can Patriots— can the Patriots defense continue to carry if it's a good Trevor Lawrence
- 36:51day? That's my question is like, it looks like Trevor Lawrence is susceptible
- 36:55to any sort of like real defensive pressure.
- 36:59What do we find out about him? I think the same thing is true for
- 37:02Drake Maye. So both of these, I don't think Trevor Lawrence is
- 37:06on the same level of fraud watch that Drake Maye is, but Trevor Lawrence also
- 37:09didn't hit like MVP-level heights ever in his career, and Drake Maye did last year.
- 37:13So I'm just like, as a Patriots fan,
- 37:17I do think this team is still relying on the defense until
- 37:21I see something better from Drake. And it
- 37:25would not shock me at all if they lost to the Jaguars. Me neither.
- 37:29Uh, also that, but that's more— that has less to do with, with, with Trevor
- 37:32Lawrence. It's my belief now, which I didn't have initially, that Liam
- 37:37Cohen's done a real fucking good job there. I don't want to talk about how
- 37:40wrong I was about Liam. Yeah, I was wrong about it too. I don't like
- 37:43it. I don't like being wrong. I'm very— dude, I think about that fucking press
- 37:47conference all the time. It was like the Adam Gase press conference. Exactly. Thank you.
- 37:51Those are the only 2 press conferences I've ever thought about after the fact.
- 37:53The Adam Gase, just the Yeah, and Duval,
- 37:59the cokehead press conference. That was fucking
- 38:02wild, that press conference. And then Duval,
- 38:06fucking terrifying. And then it turned out he was kind of awesome, and then he's
- 38:10been great. Sucks Gase wasn't. Um,
- 38:13final, uh, we, we were supposed to have an absolute banger, Cody. We were
- 38:17promised a banger with Eagles-Bears. Yeah, but instead we're gonna get
- 38:21Case Keenum. I am. Now that's not to say that this can't be an interesting
- 38:24matchup because I still, you know, the Bears defense has
- 38:28got to get their shit together. Yes, they've got to get their shit together.
- 38:31This is a, this is a, an historically defensive team.
- 38:34I appreciate that Ben Johnson is an offensive genius at the moment,
- 38:38but like, this has got to fuck— they've got to step up. Yeah,
- 38:42the Eagles offense is vulnerable. Their offensive line is vulnerable.
- 38:45They're going up against a quarterback who's ice cold. He's never out until he's out.
- 38:50So I still can see an avenue
- 38:54for this game to be interesting. But I, I am furious,
- 38:59furious that we are not getting Caleb. Yeah, we got robbed.
- 39:03I'm fucking furious. Got fucking robbed. This is bullshit. It's all right. We're going to
- 39:07fucking bang her and get Caleb back like probably in a week or two.
- 39:10I'm really happy that he's okay. Me too. But like, by the way,
- 39:13are you proud of me for sending you a funny meme? I was very proud.
- 39:17That one was good. I will say it was very funny. That one was good.
- 39:20Again, I disagree with the memes, but they are funny.
- 39:23No, they have made me laugh. I sent Cody a meme that was Caleb waving
- 39:27from the cart and it said, I've seen this before. He's going to come back
- 39:31next week and cash in Money in the Bank. Yep. That made me laugh.
- 39:34I'm like, that's funny shit. Which— that's— it's harmless. That's a harmless joke. And I
- 39:38like that. All right. We've talked some NFL. We previewed Week 3.
- 39:42Let's go over to baseball for a second. Let's do it.
- 39:45Headline number 3 is about how 60
- 39:48games could become MLB's most important number in
- 39:52the potential lockout. Yeah. MLB owners are virtually certain to
- 39:57lock out the players in early December when the sport's current labor deal expires.
- 40:01No one knows whether a shutdown will shorten the sport's regular season,
- 40:04but if it does, 60 games, roughly the end of May by
- 40:08the current MLB schedule, will perhaps be the most crucial leverage point. If at
- 40:12least 60 games are wiped out in 2027, most of the league's national
- 40:16broadcast contracts would extend another year through 2029.
- 40:21That means that the big payday owners expect from new national TV rights deals
- 40:25could wind up delayed by a lockout. So the NBA 2
- 40:29years ago set up a carrot for MLB to chase when
- 40:33it renegotiated its national packages and landed in the average
- 40:37of $7 billion a year, more than double what the MLB is currently bringing in.
- 40:40The NFL averages more than $11 billion per season. But there's a silver lining for
- 40:44the owners, even if no pitches are thrown in 2027. They still get paid.
- 40:49Most of the current national contracts, which total more than $2 billion annually,
- 40:53call for the league's partners to pay MLB in 2027, even if
- 40:57no games are played, the people briefed on the agreement said. This means the
- 41:00owners would still be guaranteed to collect around 17% of their overall $12 billion-plus
- 41:04in revenue. So, oh, this is an absolute
- 41:09shitshow. But the reality is that 60 missed games
- 41:12is the deadline And by the way, this was detailed by Evan Drelich and
- 41:16Andrew Marchand of The Athletic. So give them credit where credit
- 41:19is due. Both are very good at what they do. Very good. And 60 games
- 41:23means we are now entering the territory of having to extend the TV deal,
- 41:26which means they miss out on a lot of money on a new deal that
- 41:29is worth a lot more money. Right. That's just the baseline what
- 41:33we're looking at. Yeah. No games played
- 41:37and the owners still make their money. Amazing, isn't it? Now the interesting
- 41:40part is if there's no CBA, the players
- 41:45don't make money from that contract. I don't believe so.
- 41:49So that's where— listen, this is, this is where shit
- 41:53gets real dark real fast. I'm confused.
- 41:57The way I'm getting it now, the way I'm seeing it now, it's basically this
- 42:00is a more or less of like a poison pill. It's, it's,
- 42:04it's the final solution for MLB owners. Yeah,
- 42:07this is like the thing that they can do to break the union.
- 42:11The union better stand strong because it's not going to be hard to get the
- 42:14young guys and the less paid guys really, really fucking worried
- 42:18and quaking in their boots. Because I know what this is going to turn into.
- 42:21It's going to turn into lockout for a while. We're going
- 42:25to start renegotiating. They're going to want a salary cap. And then to mitigate the
- 42:28season and everything else, they're going to cut more minor
- 42:32league leagues out and they're going to streamline the minor league system
- 42:36into much less jobs, we're going to lose like another 50,000
- 42:40jobs in baseball. I'm not just talking on-field personnel,
- 42:43I'm talking people that work in ticketing, I'm talking about people that work in front
- 42:46offices, I'm talking about people who work in sales, I'm talking about everybody
- 42:50in all these small towns throughout the United States that literally some
- 42:53of these teams are like those cities' fucking economy
- 42:58will be completely decimated. I hate
- 43:02this so fucking much. I don't
- 43:06know what else to say. So bad. It is just greed upon greed
- 43:11upon greed. And they are banking on you, the fans, to be as stupid
- 43:15as possible and believe them when they say it's the
- 43:19players' fault. That is what they're banking on. They're banking on you being an idiot.
- 43:23Don't be an idiot, please. That's all I can say. Just for the love of
- 43:26God, see what is happening right in front of you. Please Google how much a
- 43:29billion dollars is. Please Google how much fucking $8 billion is.
- 43:33Google how much the Angels, who are about to lose 100 games,
- 43:37um, they just sold for $4 billion.
- 43:39Google how much that is. Just learn.
- 43:43Just learn basic numbers, and I think you're gonna come to the
- 43:48correct solution. So this, you know, we've talked
- 43:52about this. It is really what it's coming down to is their
- 43:55desire for to institute a salary cap. Desperate. If you have ever— all you guys
- 43:59have to do is, is Google the regulars talking about the salary cap. It's out
- 44:02there, I promise you. Just Google Cody and I's names, salary cap. It's out there.
- 44:06I'm not gonna go back through it, but, but trust me, we're going to
- 44:10be talking about it probably quite a bit. Yeah, over the next 6 months,
- 44:13once these negotiations begin, we're gonna— we will do even
- 44:17deeper dives into exactly what this would mean,
- 44:20what a salary cap would mean. All of the ramifications.
- 44:24The reality is that in almost every CBA
- 44:28negotiation, in when we're talking about these things,
- 44:31the owners have
- 44:35a stopgap. They have a safety net built in
- 44:39to protect them during a lockout.
- 44:43That is in every— like,
- 44:47that is sort of this universal understanding that if a lockout is going to occur,
- 44:50is because owners have developed a safety net. They will
- 44:54not take— these motherfuckers won't pay another percentage
- 44:59in taxes. They hate not
- 45:02losing money. They hate the idea of not gaining more money.
- 45:06They don't just enter these negotiations without preventative
- 45:12measures. And those are not always legal.
- 45:15Doesn't mean they're going to get in trouble for them. But they're not always legal.
- 45:19And we've talked about that with the NFL. And circumventing
- 45:23these rules always sounds like it's like fully above board. It'll be,
- 45:26it'll be reported as if it's above board.
- 45:30Not always. Nope. So we'll keep an eye on that.
- 45:34The salary cap is in the news. Yes, it is. The NBA specifically.
- 45:38Wow. They do have a salary cap. And it's interesting how certain teams have
- 45:41recently circumvented that salary cap.
- 45:44And Major League Baseball doesn't seem like that could be a
- 45:47problem. Oh, there's also the issues of, you know, tanking and,
- 45:51and the, the issues of players actually not even
- 45:54playing because they're load managing for some reason and yada, yada, yada. There's just all
- 45:58these problems in the salary-capped league that
- 46:02aren't in the non-salary-capped league, which is super fascinating.
- 46:05Interesting. Headline number 4, Draymond Green Calls
- 46:10to get rid of the salary cap after Kawhi Leonard's circumvention scandal.
- 46:13Now, one thing you've really never seen in Major League Baseball is someone getting paid
- 46:18under the table for some shady-ass shit because they don't got to do it.
- 46:21They don't need to. Don't need to. They can just say, we're paying, we're paying,
- 46:25we're paying Shohei $1 billion over the next 100 years.
- 46:28Yes. Doesn't matter. Can happen. Okay, so Draymond
- 46:32Green, you know, as soon as I read this headline, I was like, oh,
- 46:35this is some Tanya and Cody-ass shit right here. Like, this is—
- 46:39unfortunately, I know we're with Draymond. So in an interview with
- 46:42Front Office Sports, Green called on the NBA to get rid of the salary cap
- 46:45as a whole to avoid these sorts of scandals in the future. When talking
- 46:49about Kawhi Leonard, when you look at teams being sold for $12.5
- 46:53billion and athletes can't participate in that upside that athletes
- 46:58are driving, I think that the salary cap is irrelevant, he said. I think
- 47:01get rid of the salary cap as a whole and we won't have these types
- 47:04of things. Green flipped the debate around the— on the Clippers,
- 47:08around the Clippers on its head, arguing that if uber-wealthy owners like
- 47:11the Clippers' Steve Ballmer believe someone on their team is worth as much as
- 47:15he managed to compensate Leonard, they should be allowed to. Yeah.
- 47:19Ultimately, the circumvention was because that guy was worth more than
- 47:23they could pay. So if he's worth more than they could pay, why can't
- 47:27he make that? I don't know if anyone's ever seen Elon Musk's
- 47:32compensation package from Tesla, but it's absurd. But guess what? If he can negotiate it,
- 47:35he can get it. So why in sports can we possibly
- 47:39negotiate something but it's a problem? These are the best
- 47:42business owners in the world. They know how to negotiate. These are some of the
- 47:45best businesses, minds, businessmen, businesswomen. Now, I won't agree with that, but that's,
- 47:49that's neither here nor there. In order to become that, you have to know how
- 47:52to negotiate. So they negotiate without a salary cap stopping the person who they're negotiating
- 47:56I think the salary cap as a whole is doing the league a disservice.
- 47:59So essentially what Draymond Green just laid out is that the business
- 48:03model of professional sports with salary caps is, is anti-capitalist.
- 48:07And we have— have we not been ringing this fucking bell
- 48:11on this show repeatedly over and over and over again for 7 months?
- 48:17I hate it when I'm completely 100% agreeing with Draymond Green,
- 48:20but fucking Draymond nails this shit. I don't know what else to tell you other
- 48:23than it's literally right in front of all of you. In what
- 48:28other sector are you allowed to say like, sorry, we can't—
- 48:32Tanya, the rules are that we can't pay you more money. Tanya, fuck every
- 48:36other sector. Just take the sectors that these exact people
- 48:39come from. Every owner comes from fucking hedge fund things,
- 48:43public money over here, money over billions of dollars. Everyone that
- 48:47owns a team, with the exception of the ones that have inherited their teams,
- 48:50They all come from some sort of capitalist system that they were able to take
- 48:53massive advantage of and probably break a lot of rules to
- 48:56get there. No one became a billionaire by becoming the nicest guy in the
- 49:00fucking world. They don't exist. Every billionaire is fucking borderline
- 49:04deranged and crazy and usually breaking a decent amount
- 49:09of laws to get their billions. But once you get to a certain price,
- 49:12though, I can't stress this enough. That's the other thing about people with so much
- 49:15money. When you have so much money, you don't actually
- 49:19have to make money anymore. Your money makes money. That's how it works.
- 49:23You get to a certain threshold of money, you never have to worry about making
- 49:27a dime. Interest. That's all you're doing. Yeah. So now you
- 49:30buy a franchise and all of a sudden that capitalist system that you
- 49:34fucking benefit from no longer is something that you agree
- 49:38with. Boy, I can't afford this. Fuck you.
- 49:42No, he's— I mean, Draymond's point about the Lakers is,
- 49:46is crazy. It's crazy true. And like, we've never— you and
- 49:50I have never even put it that bluntly, which is like, so, so you just
- 49:54sold a basketball team for $12.5 billion? Yes.
- 49:57Which is wildly overvalued. No one's asking any questions. No one's putting a
- 50:01cap on how much money you can make by selling that team. It is clearly—
- 50:05that's clearly insane that your basketball franchise that did not win a
- 50:09title in a year went from, what, $10 billion, which was overpriced,
- 50:13to $12.5 billion. By the way, before it was sold for $10 billion, it was
- 50:16valued— I'm not kidding— valued like 2 weeks
- 50:20before it at $7.5 billion, which made sense because they valued
- 50:24it at the comparison to the Celtics, which, which had sold for $6.5 billion.
- 50:28Yep. And so they were like, okay, if Celtics are $6.5 billion, Los Angeles market
- 50:32makes sense, right? Like, that made sense. So Draymond's It's—
- 50:36that's correct. Completely. Like that. If you're saying
- 50:40that it's $12.5 million, what you're saying is that Luka
- 50:44improved your franchise value that much. That's what you're saying. That's,
- 50:47that's the only thing you can be saying because it wasn't a title. It wasn't
- 50:51your business. It wasn't like some sort of business investment. It wasn't. It's Luka.
- 50:54By the way, you lost LeBron James and somehow your team became $2.5
- 50:58billion more valuable. So you're telling me it has to be? So now
- 51:02if you want to pay Luka $1 billion,
- 51:05you should be able to pay Luka $1 billion and he should be able to
- 51:08ask for it. Should he not? Yeah. Should he not? Because you
- 51:12just fucking told me Luka increased the value of your team that much.
- 51:16Sorry, I don't know what to say other than you guys can increase the
- 51:20valuations of all these things and make all this money, but the players can't.
- 51:23I don't know what to tell you other than that is as evil as humanly
- 51:27possible. And I understand the fans going like, well, I don't know who to root
- 51:29for, the millionaires or the billionaires. The fucking millionaires,
- 51:33idiot. The workforce. It doesn't matter that they're millionaires.
- 51:37They are still a workforce. They're the workforce. And by the way, a lot of
- 51:39them still aren't millionaires. There's like a bunch of dudes who will play in the
- 51:42NBA who are on like veteran minimum contracts or,
- 51:47or like 10-day— like, dude, I played in Major League Baseball.
- 51:50I never came close to any semblance of that type of money. No.
- 51:54Like, this is, this is an absolute joke. And so I thought
- 51:57it was really interesting on the back of the whole, like,
- 52:01trying to institute a salary cap is Draymond Green pointing out that
- 52:05the salary cap is causing the richest men in the world
- 52:08to get in trouble for, for salary
- 52:12fraud. Yeah. Like, it's so funny because it's
- 52:16like these two things existing. MLB's like, salary cap will save us. Steve Ballmer,
- 52:20one of the richest people in the world, is getting fucking fined and
- 52:23sanctioned because he can't work within these fucking pay because he can't work.
- 52:27But he, but he has to be in that situation because The rest of
- 52:30the poor owners— Steve Ballmer would probably be happy
- 52:34to work in a non-salary cap league. Yeah. Who doesn't want
- 52:38that are whoever's gonna buy the— whoever owns the shit
- 52:43fuck rest of the teams, private equity dudes who all chipped in,
- 52:46all 39 of them, to buy the fucking like
- 52:51Memphis Grizzlies or whatever, right? Like, it's like, it's always some— those are the people
- 52:55who don't want to have to deal with that. Steve Ballmer could win it.
- 52:58Steve Ballmer could pay the— he could build the
- 53:03U.S. Olympic team and pay them. Yeah.
- 53:07Cool. I want to— I would like to see it. So would I.
- 53:11I would like to fucking see it. Me too. Let Anthony
- 53:14Edwards and Luka Dončić and all
- 53:18these motherfuckers all play on the same team, all making half a billion
- 53:22dollars and on contracts, I'm in. Because you
- 53:26know what that gives us? It gives us Major League Baseball, where there's been plenty
- 53:29of parity, by the way. By the fucking way. Now we are running
- 53:33out of billionaires because they all own everything, all like 10 of them.
- 53:38They'll have to figure that out. Yes, they will. Uh, we have
- 53:41a sort of hybrid story for our final headline, which is we're going to talk
- 53:45about the WNBA bracket and then, uh, the playoff bracket, but we're gonna We're gonna
- 53:49transition into Media Corner in the middle of it. Oh, I love that. Fun.
- 53:52Very fun, cool thing I'm doing. That's so cool. I'm a fucking media maverick
- 53:56trying new things. I'm a media maverick, my guy. Let's do it.
- 54:00Uh, the WNBA bracket is set. Um, I know
- 54:04that you don't get to talk a lot of WNBA, which means that it doesn't—
- 54:07you can't often prioritize it in your viewing and all that stuff. Um,
- 54:11that's not your fault. You would love to, and I would because I love the
- 54:14fucking W. Yeah. Um, so we're gonna do it here. And I
- 54:18had the pleasure of— I have the pleasure of being married to an absolute
- 54:22motherfucking real one who stopped our
- 54:26show in the middle of what we were watching last night and was like,
- 54:28NECA's retirement thing's happening, like, we gotta watch. And I was like,
- 54:31thank you for keeping an eye on that because I would have hated to miss
- 54:34that. But he's the— he's the real one in my fucking
- 54:39household. Love that. So he made sure we got to see Nneka's retirement.
- 54:44And the W just has like, they just got some real
- 54:49good shit going. Nneka Ogwumike, the scoring leader
- 54:53in the history of the LA Sparks, an iconic franchise. She retired.
- 54:57Her very famous, very beautiful, very talented sister,
- 55:01Shanae, wrote a retirement tribute
- 55:05and, you know, voiced over retirement tribute package for
- 55:09her. That was probably one of the greatest retirement packages, tributes I've ever
- 55:13seen in my life. Uh, this league is just shining as bright
- 55:17as anything I've seen, and a lot of it is because Nneka, she is from
- 55:21Los Angeles. She's a Los Angeles Sparks legend, or she's from Los Angeles Sparks and
- 55:24she's a Sparks legend. And so we cannot be people talking about the W without
- 55:28talking about that the day after. Um, I— if you have not seen it
- 55:32and I know you haven't, go at the airport. Look, I only saw parts
- 55:36of it. I didn't see the whole thing. At the airport, bring it up,
- 55:38bring it up on YouTube. I'm sure it's on there. Watch the whole thing.
- 55:40You will cry at the airport. Okay. It's so fucking good. Can't wait.
- 55:43It's so good. Having said that,
- 55:47playoff bracket. The big
- 55:50stories coming out of this playoff bracket are that Caitlin Clark,
- 55:54Kelsey Mitchell, Leah Boston, the big 3 of the Fever, are facing the big
- 55:583 of the Las Vegas Aces.
- 56:03Obviously our, our GOAT, our MVP, our obvious A'ja Wilson,
- 56:07but also Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray. It's a Big 3 versus Big 3 situation.
- 56:12Uh, there's a lot of people who think, uh, that the Caitlin Clark versus
- 56:16A'ja Wilson thing is somehow a thing.
- 56:20Nope. I get that, like, in the world of
- 56:23young young stars versus like established MVP
- 56:27stars, like, sure, maybe. It's so funny because we don't really do this in the
- 56:31NBA. So like, I'm new to this. Like, I'm new to this. Not true to
- 56:34this, you know? Like, I don't know what's happening here because in
- 56:39the, in the NBA, we don't do that thing where we're like, oh, Anthony Edwards
- 56:43is going to crush LeBron. Like, we don't— we, we don't
- 56:47do that. No. So it is a fascinating
- 56:51matchup. Uh, we got the big,
- 56:54the big thing that I'm noticing, and I'm not gonna lie,
- 56:58I'm a Minnesota Lynx fan. They're playing the Liberty. I hope the Lynx make it
- 57:02through, but they, they're looking a little, they're looking a little bit vulnerable.
- 57:05But my second favorite team is the Atlanta Dream because my first favorite player is
- 57:09on the Atlanta Dream. Have you heard of her? It's Angel Reese. She's not bad.
- 57:12Okay, here's the thing. Angel Reese got a pretty good draw. They got a— the
- 57:15whole team got a pretty good— Ron Howard, one of the best 3-point shooters in
- 57:18the league, absolutely fucking legendary. She— they're going up against the Washington Mystics.
- 57:24They're on the opposite side of the bracket from
- 57:28Caitlin Clark. Now, do I want Caitlin Clark
- 57:33and the Fever to make a final? Not particularly. I really like
- 57:37Dallas. I really like the Aces. I'd love for
- 57:41one of those teams to make it through. Am I a chaos agent who if
- 57:46the Dream were to make the final, which they very much could because they're fucking
- 57:49fire right now,
- 57:53that would hate to see the Fever
- 57:57versus the Dream. I mean, it would if we're looking— if
- 58:02our goal is to get the very best ratings humanly possible.
- 58:05It's not our goal. That's not necessarily our goal. But if that was our goal,
- 58:08it's just my goal to see if that was our goal happen
- 58:12there. That would be the case. No, I will. That would crush. I will accept.
- 58:16Angel Reese winning a title before Caitlin Clark. And currently this
- 58:20bracket is making that a lot easier to potentially happen.
- 58:23Not saying that the Fever can't beat the Aces, but I'll tell you right now,
- 58:26if the Fever beat the Aces, it will not be because of Caitlin Clark.
- 58:29It will be because of their MVP, the best player on their team, Kelsey Mitchell.
- 58:33More importantly, this is where we tie it into
- 58:37Media Corner. So we're sort of moving into Media Corner now, which is that per
- 58:41Front Office Sports, the league drew 3.79
- 58:46million fans across 330 games, which is a 20.5%
- 58:52increase from last season. The total attendance
- 58:56figure is boosted by the addition of 2 expansion teams,
- 58:59though the numbers still saw a marginal 3% growth of the,
- 59:03uh, net of the Toronto Tempo and the Portland Fire. So the league averaged
- 59:0711,474 fans this year, also a record and
- 59:11a 5% increase from last season. The Dream saw the biggest one-year increase.
- 59:15Angel Reese, have you ever— yes, I heard her averaging nearly 7,000
- 59:19fans this year, which is, you know, we're talking about massive 55%
- 59:23bumps. Caitlin Clark-led Indiana Fever remain the league's biggest draw
- 59:27for opposing fans as the team averaged 15,116
- 59:30fans from the road. Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings were second. So we
- 59:35are looking at a playoffs that is going to break records. Of course,
- 59:39when you and I were talking about this CBA being built or being
- 59:43negotiated, there was a lot of people who were like, I don't know about
- 59:47this kind of money. I don't know if this is going to— oh, there's this
- 59:50bubble's going to burst. Yeah, there was a lot of these like,
- 59:54I can't believe anyone thinks this should expand. What idiots.
- 59:58You were saying? Starting to look like you
- 1:00:01were saying it's starting to look like. And by the way, Juju Watkins is
- 1:00:05coming. I don't mean to be that guy, but did we see one of those
- 1:00:08guys last weekend at at the Rose Bowl with that take?
- 1:00:13What? I believe we saw somebody at the Rose Bowl last, last week. Oh my
- 1:00:17God, I totally forgot.
- 1:00:22We definitely saw Bill Simmons. Definitely saw Bill Simmons at the Rose Bowl, and he
- 1:00:25definitely had this take. Don't look now, but I'm pretty sure
- 1:00:30he saw, uh, saw us and probably is not happy. Hate that for us.
- 1:00:33Oh, poor guy. Hate that for us. No, but like that, I mean, truly,
- 1:00:36like This is— this shit's fucking not turning back. No,
- 1:00:40it never was. And it never— like, that's not how these things work. No,
- 1:00:43it's growing. I thought it was going to work differently for the women than it
- 1:00:45would for any other league. That's not how this works. So, um,
- 1:00:48love that. And there's so many opportunities
- 1:00:52for this. I, I think no matter what, the Finals are going to gain crazy
- 1:00:55ratings. But we got Angel Reese
- 1:00:59in the playoffs for the first time. We got Caitlin Clark back in the playoffs.
- 1:01:02We got Kelsey Mitchell, who's a fucking MVP candidate. We've got Olivia Miles,
- 1:01:06who's an MVP candidate and a rookie. We've got the fucking big 3 of the
- 1:01:09Aces who are the fucking GOATs right now. Good shit. And I just— we had
- 1:01:13to make sure that we shouted that out. And, um, you know,
- 1:01:17keep pushing, keep pushing, keep trying. Go W! I'm looking forward to it. Let's get
- 1:01:21it going. Uh, we got a media corner that's, that's bringing us
- 1:01:25back to probably my least favorite person.
- 1:01:30Last show we talked about how we don't really love Drew Brees,
- 1:01:33and we might be Not a fan. If Curt Schilling dies, we might have to
- 1:01:37replace him. Maybe a little gimmick. I was actually going to ask you, should we
- 1:01:40end every show with fuck Joe Rogan or something? No.
- 1:01:43Well, definitely not, because I truly don't have any fun. Like,
- 1:01:47we're a sports show. Fuck Joe Rogan. He has nothing to do with us.
- 1:01:50Oh, at least we got to fuck Joe Rogan in there. Yeah, well, yeah,
- 1:01:52for sure. But at the end of the day, Joe Rogan— I'm
- 1:01:56sorry, Curt Schilling. Curt Schilling is going to die at some point
- 1:02:00and we need a replacement. Fair. Now Drew Brees was floated because neither one of
- 1:02:04us liked Drew Brees. Not a fan. I accidentally called Drew Blood, so Drew Brees
- 1:02:07hurt my feelings. That was— hurt my own feelings. You should be upset with yourself
- 1:02:10for that. But Sean Payton— my visceral
- 1:02:14hatred for Sean Payton outpaces Drew Brees by double.
- 1:02:17Wow, by double? Yeah, by double. Yeah, I do dislike
- 1:02:22Sean Payton more than I dislike Drew Brees. Okay, that is true. All right,
- 1:02:24we're on the same page. But because double, I don't know, so it's gonna take
- 1:02:27some more doing. Here's the thing. Drew Brees was a like,
- 1:02:31like put him in first ballot quarterback. I get it. I understand.
- 1:02:35There are— there— the numbers are there. He was very
- 1:02:39good. Understand? He was very good. Sean Payton, absolute fucking
- 1:02:43fraud watch as a coach. Not even
- 1:02:47on fraud watch as a human being. Just a straight up POS.
- 1:02:52I just love that Kevin James played him in a movie. That's all I love.
- 1:02:55That's, that's all I need and all I love, and I want more of it.
- 1:02:58So we need— this is how I titled it in our rundown. I want to
- 1:03:01make sure everyone knows that I titled it, We Need to Talk About Sean Payton
- 1:03:04Being a Little Bitch Again. I love that. Great fucking title. Thank you so much.
- 1:03:08Uh, it's not just Mike McDonald. Every team
- 1:03:12scours social media to find opponent tells. Do you know about
- 1:03:17this scandal, Cody? I do not know about the scandal. So let me give you
- 1:03:19the The CliffsNotes version of this.
- 1:03:25He goes on a podcast, Mike McDaniels, and says essentially like,
- 1:03:28yeah, we were sort of scouring the internet for
- 1:03:32footage of different plays and whatever else before we played the Broncos
- 1:03:35in this. Like, it was like a regular season game. Yeah, it was on
- 1:03:39a podcast in 2024 as part of their preparation for the season against the Broncos.
- 1:03:42McDaniels said the Seahawks watched about 100 plays from Denver's training camp
- 1:03:46through videos posted by fans on social media. The Seahawks won that
- 1:03:50game 26-20 in McDonald's debut. Later in the season,
- 1:03:53Payton caught wind of it and threatened to report the Seahawks to the league.
- 1:03:57Fucking what? According to McDonald's, he said— so McDonald's
- 1:04:01says Sean Payton threatened to report to the league. I got that. For what?
- 1:04:05And then nothing came of the matter as the Seahawks didn't violate
- 1:04:09any rules. While addressing the issue Wednesday, Payton said that after speaking with the Seahawks
- 1:04:13that season, the Broncos changed their policies for future camps. He said
- 1:04:16talking with Seahawks general manager John Schneider allowed us to handle
- 1:04:20our training camp relative to just videos. And I don't think
- 1:04:24anything was intentional by fans, but at first you're thinking, how could?
- 1:04:28And then we just did some research online on what was available, and that's kind
- 1:04:32of how we changed our policy. So it helped us to some degree. So because
- 1:04:36Sean Payton was pissed that this came out 2
- 1:04:41years later, whatever, like all this stuff happens.
- 1:04:44McDonald has to— he feels the need to apologize
- 1:04:48publicly for— he's like, yeah, I probably shouldn't have talked about that specific thing.
- 1:04:52We'd already squashed that. We've already squashed the beef. It is what it is.
- 1:04:54But like he had told— he basically apologized
- 1:04:58for telling the podcaster that this had happened,
- 1:05:02that he had been accused of cheating by Sean Payton.
- 1:05:07So Sean Payton accuses him of
- 1:05:11cheating by looking at social media practice videos. Yeah.
- 1:05:15He talks about it on public information, by the way.
- 1:05:19Very public, extraordinarily public information that anyone can ingest
- 1:05:23at any given moment. I can do it. Am I cheating too? Am I
- 1:05:27fucking cheating? So this is the funniest part, is like it basically is them all
- 1:05:30like admitting that Spygate was always bullshit because they're like, it was
- 1:05:33just before Twitter. Like, it's like, exactly. It's like,
- 1:05:36fucking exactly. No one cares. But so here's the big
- 1:05:40thing is that The Athletic, in talking about this and covering this entire thing,
- 1:05:44says they talked to 10 coaches and executives from teams to sort of understand
- 1:05:47everything. And most of them admitted it's worth scouring the
- 1:05:51internet for any shred of available intel, even if much of it is useless.
- 1:05:55That is absolutely nothing, a former GM said. It's a waste of time.
- 1:05:59And I hate to think people think that there is something of this. A coach
- 1:06:03added, it's very common. We all do it. Everyone does it. Now people
- 1:06:07don't really think anything about this. You didn't know about it. It is not a
- 1:06:11real scandal. Mm-hmm. It's only a scandal
- 1:06:14because Sean Payton's a little bitch. No, it's not. It's not a scandal.
- 1:06:18It's only a scandal if Bill Belichick does it. Oh, okay.
- 1:06:21I see what you're doing. This is only a scandal if
- 1:06:26someone we already hate is doing— doing— okay,
- 1:06:29now they're 100% right. Mike McDonald did nothing
- 1:06:33wrong. This is stupid. It's fucking pathetic. It is literally—
- 1:06:37I would never in a million years be mad about this. Sean Payton being
- 1:06:40a little bitch about it is really funny considering he is lucky to still have
- 1:06:44a job in the NFL after what the fuck he did. Yes. Right.
- 1:06:48And let's just ignore Bountygate. He had
- 1:06:51a first-ballot Hall of Fame quarterback inside of a fucking dome
- 1:06:56for 15 years and managed one Super Bowl that they barely
- 1:07:00They almost fucking blew. Why? Okay, so got lucky you played
- 1:07:03the Cardinals. Offensive genius of a fucking coach,
- 1:07:07already talked about in the— on the level of coaches he should not be in
- 1:07:11the same breath with. Don't— do not say Sean Payton and Andy Reid to
- 1:07:15me in the same fucking breath. Literally go jump off
- 1:07:19of a bridge. That's insane. And then on top of it, you're gonna be a
- 1:07:22little bitch about social— so your offense is so
- 1:07:27cool and complex that that your prac— that practice video from
- 1:07:30fans can cause you to lose to
- 1:07:34a first-year head— I'm sorry, 2024?
- 1:07:38Hold on, 2024? Mike McDonald was still the fucking D coordinator
- 1:07:42of the goddamn— I'm getting more
- 1:07:46mad as I cover this. Yeah, so basically the moral of the story is
- 1:07:50more or less Sean Payton's a little bitch. That's it.
- 1:07:54Sean Payton's a little bitch, and the entire league just admitted that no one gives
- 1:07:57a fuck about— pretty much. And I'm glad— I wish everyone would actually say,
- 1:08:00yeah, no one gives a shit, Sean Payton's a little bitch. I wish that was
- 1:08:02everybody's quote. I just want it on record that the whole league
- 1:08:06being like, no one gives a fuck about random practice video, is very funny considering
- 1:08:10Spygate. It's also considering the fact that it's like—
- 1:08:13it's on Twitter. Like, that's the thing. Like, getting mad about this,
- 1:08:17I just still can't get— it was never so like Like, so Spygate was always,
- 1:08:20always stupid because it was never that there was video, it was that it was
- 1:08:23taken from the wrong allotted spot. It was never that you
- 1:08:28couldn't film the practice, you could only film it from a specific place. Yeah.
- 1:08:31So it is very funny to me that we are like here 19
- 1:08:35years later and everybody's like, every motherfucker who attends practice
- 1:08:39can film it and post it to the internet because it's that
- 1:08:42useless. Like, the league is fully telling us That
- 1:08:46video is not enough to win you an NFL game.
- 1:08:5020 years after being like, I can't believe Bill Belichick did
- 1:08:54this, which is very exhausting. On top of everything else,
- 1:08:57though, Sean Payton, is there anything he's
- 1:09:01not insufferable about? No. Is there anything? Nothing. Like you said, he's lucky to have
- 1:09:05a job. Bountygate should have ended his career. The end.
- 1:09:08The end. It should have ended it. Instead, he got a fucking Disney movie
- 1:09:12out of it and got a new job in Denver. Every time I talk about
- 1:09:14Tom Brady, There are 95 comments being
- 1:09:18like, yeah, but he cheated. Yeah, but he cheated. Yeah, but he cheated.
- 1:09:23I, I can't— no one gives a fuck that Sean
- 1:09:27Payton was trying to take people's heads off with bounties,
- 1:09:31but everybody's mad that Tom Brady got
- 1:09:35accused of deflating footballs at halftime,
- 1:09:39then went and kicked the shit out of the entire league
- 1:09:42for years after that anyway. Yeah. Nobody has
- 1:09:46any sense. Everybody's salty little bitches, and Sean
- 1:09:50Payton is salty little bitch number one. Everybody who complains about
- 1:09:53this shit, you are just right behind Sean Payton in the salty little bitch
- 1:09:57column of my fucking lists. I can't wait for the show title
- 1:10:01today. Sean Payton is salty little bitch number one. Oh,
- 1:10:04that's a good one. Good title. Very good. Good title. I contributed
- 1:10:09today. All right. Let's get over to Pop Culture Corner because I'm very
- 1:10:13interested in this list. The 100 Best Television Shows of the 21st Century
- 1:10:17has come out. And Tanya, it's from the New York Times. Do we agree?
- 1:10:20So the New York Times— I just want to make it clear what the parameters
- 1:10:23were. The New York Times, uh, talked to more than 500
- 1:10:27influential, uh, showrunners and other notable names in the world of TV
- 1:10:31and voted on this best series released since January 1st,
- 1:10:352000. Um, this list is exhaustive.
- 1:10:39Obviously 100 is great, so we get to see a lot of different
- 1:10:42shows. Um, the num—
- 1:10:46I'm gonna read you the top 10. How about we— I'll read everybody the top
- 1:10:4910 and we'll just sort of kind of piece
- 1:10:54together how we feel about it. Okay, you want to do that? Yes, let's do
- 1:10:56it. All right, top 10. Breaking Bad, number 1.
- 1:10:59Understandable. Well, we're not gonna go through— we'll, we'll just say it all
- 1:11:03and then we'll go. Okay, so Breaking Bad, The Wire, Number 2,
- 1:11:06Mad Men, Succession, uh,
- 1:11:09Fleabag, Game of Thrones, Veep,
- 1:11:1330 Rock, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Atlanta.
- 1:11:18First things first, one of these things is not like the other one. First things
- 1:11:20first, I'm really happy Atlanta got the nod. Um, huge fan
- 1:11:25of Atlanta being on there. Really glad Atlanta got the nod. I would have expected
- 1:11:28to be in the top 100. Seeing it in the top 10 really makes me
- 1:11:31fucking happy. Because that show was fucking fantastic. Fleabag ahead of
- 1:11:35Game of Thrones is the most surprising. Get your shit
- 1:11:39to fucking gather, shit. That is, that is a bunch of TV people
- 1:11:44jerking themselves off in a way that I've never seen. Was Fleabag
- 1:11:49a good show? Of course, Fleabag was great. It should definitely be
- 1:11:52on this list. Putting it ahead of Game of Thrones, putting it in the top
- 1:11:5510, putting it in the top 20 is psychotic behavior that is pissing
- 1:11:59me all the way off. I agree. I'm glad Atlanta's on there. Agreed. I,
- 1:12:02I really am. Andor being number 32, I, I honestly think that should be higher,
- 1:12:06to be honest with you. Band of Brothers at 28, that's a pretty good call.
- 1:12:09Better Call Saul, you know, a spin-off series getting that high at 27.
- 1:12:13Very good show. I would take— I would take, uh,
- 1:12:16let me chime in real quick. Yes, please do.
- 1:12:20I would take Better Call Saul over Game of Thrones
- 1:12:23any day. I think Game of Thrones being in 6 is incredibly
- 1:12:27generous. I— that's because, yeah, if you look
- 1:12:30at the list, I think Stranger Things
- 1:12:34and Game of Things— and Game of Thrones— Game of Things— and Game
- 1:12:38of Things, pretty much what it became. Um,
- 1:12:42I think they're on the same level because they ended so poorly. So I
- 1:12:46didn't even— to your point, I didn't even watch the end of, um,
- 1:12:49Stranger Things. I'm not— I'm not gonna put Game of Thrones Uh,
- 1:12:52in Stranger Things category, because at the very least they like consistently
- 1:12:56put out stuff on a, on a schedule that like made sense for their budget.
- 1:13:00Like Stranger Things would take like 4 years. Like, this is fucking stupid.
- 1:13:04So I have a, I have a complaint. I do have a complaint because I
- 1:13:07can't find it and it must not be in here. By the way, Twin Peaks:
- 1:13:10The Return being at 47 is criminally— wait, is it
- 1:13:14criminally low? Wait, Twin Peaks: The Return at 47
- 1:13:18No crime. No, no, that one shouldn't be that high. It should be
- 1:13:22way higher. No, should be way higher. I disagree. Twin Peaks: The
- 1:13:26Return should be way higher. I love Battlestar Galactica being on the fucking 37
- 1:13:30list because that movie is criminally underappreciated. All right, let's— but there is a
- 1:13:34show that I cannot find. Structure, because we, we are in a podcast form,
- 1:13:37so let's make sure. So, so we'll structure this. What are you looking for in
- 1:13:41the show that you can't find? I found it. It's not high enough. What is
- 1:13:44it? Arrested Development needs to be higher than 12.
- 1:13:49No, it doesn't. Arrested Development is maybe, in my
- 1:13:52opinion, the greatest comedy ever put together on American television. No, because all,
- 1:13:56all you're doing is like you're arguing that it's better than Curb,
- 1:13:59but like it is, but that's fine. But like realistically, 12 is fine.
- 1:14:04Like it's not like, it's not like it's not— do you understand what I mean?
- 1:14:07Like the argument is that it's better
- 1:14:11than 30 Rock and Curb. I, that, I think it's better than both, but you
- 1:14:14know, there's a bunch of people that disagree with you, so it's fine. It's right
- 1:14:18up there. I think there's a lot of good. Now, I don't necessarily think that
- 1:14:22Breaking Bad should even be number 1, quite honestly. Like,
- 1:14:26I, I don't— you know what I do all day
- 1:14:30long is I sift through regular,
- 1:14:34uh, I sift through regular and constant references to
- 1:14:38The Wire. Not Breaking Bad. Nobody's like, this is classic Walter
- 1:14:42White. It's not. It doesn't fucking happen.
- 1:14:45Nothing is— are you normally walking into things like, that's classic Omar?
- 1:14:49Yes, I got compared to
- 1:14:52Omar. Do you walk around doing his whistle? What was his whistle like again?
- 1:14:55Oh, it was the, um, it was, um, oh shit, Omar's coming.
- 1:14:59Yeah, yeah, the— I got compared to
- 1:15:02Omar on the internet the other day, and I was like, this is the greatest
- 1:15:05That's pretty good. It's a pretty good person. Omar's coming as me, like when
- 1:15:10I show up in a comment section. I was like, oh my God. Um,
- 1:15:14Farmer in the Dell, that's what he would whistle.
- 1:15:16That's right. And by the way, uh, after he passed away,
- 1:15:20sadly way too soon— Michael K. Williams. Yeah, the, uh, Atlanta— not sorry,
- 1:15:23the Atlanta— the Baltimore Orioles were playing that for their opening. It was
- 1:15:27awesome. So I, um, I will say I think in, in terms
- 1:15:32of cultural relevance, I don't think that any of these other shows
- 1:15:36in the top 10 even compare to The Wire. Um,
- 1:15:39like, that, that's— that to me just is— it's a nitpick,
- 1:15:43and that's fine. Fleabag being at 5 is gonna piss me off for
- 1:15:47the rest of my life. It's a good show, but like, calm down. Number 5?
- 1:15:50Also, like, I know, like— wait, go ahead, Mocha. What do you got?
- 1:15:54I, I just have to reiterate that Better Call Saul—
- 1:15:58like, this list is a joke, and I was about
- 1:16:02to trip out because I was looking for The Sopranos and then I realized,
- 1:16:04okay, 21st century. Yeah, but also Chernobyl
- 1:16:09at, at 19 is insane too. It's pretty high. I,
- 1:16:13I think you— do you think it should be higher or lower? I think it
- 1:16:16should be higher because I think what this list should be judged about is shows
- 1:16:20that started strong and ended strong. Cody,
- 1:16:24I mean, I think a lot of these shows, Mocha, didn't end strong.
- 1:16:27I'm gonna— okay, I'm gonna ask you which one of the shows you've actually watched
- 1:16:32through that were before 2010. Like, let's be real,
- 1:16:36Mocha. Like, you actually— did you watch all The Wire?
- 1:16:40Um, I've only seen like season 2. I suggest— so that's— I'm not hating on
- 1:16:44The Wire. No, I love that. No, this is— The Wire is probably— this is
- 1:16:47the problem, is that Gen Z, if you weren't like a millennial show watcher,
- 1:16:51if you didn't go back and watch all the iconic shows from 2000 like to
- 1:16:552010, you can't wait. You can't actually
- 1:16:59weigh it against all these other lists. Like, Cody and I have been
- 1:17:02here. We've been in the shit since 2000.
- 1:17:06We've been going through this, Mocha. Chernobyl doesn't fucking
- 1:17:11touch some of these shows. Like, it just doesn't. Because part
- 1:17:14of this is cultural. Like, how much has it mattered?
- 1:17:18So to your point, Mocha, what might happen is that in another 10
- 1:17:22years different things because,
- 1:17:25because TV has changed, right? So zeitgeist is
- 1:17:28very, very different. It's hard for something to catch fire the way that it used
- 1:17:32to with the national audience. But like a lot of
- 1:17:36these shows you were too young to remember, like I don't, I don't think you
- 1:17:40understand what Modern Family did to like network television
- 1:17:44for like 5 years. Yeah, like Modern Family took over
- 1:17:49network television for years.
- 1:17:53It changed that whole, like, um, like Modern
- 1:17:57Family and The Office, like, changed the way we made television. Oh, absolutely.
- 1:18:00It absolutely did. Um, and I honestly think that— but to be fair,
- 1:18:04I think that all kind of started with Arrested Development. Like,
- 1:18:07the way that was shot, that was like the very beginning of something brand new.
- 1:18:10Did they do the— it was, it was like a documentary style. No,
- 1:18:13not documentary style. Um, kind of disagree with
- 1:18:17you. I, I was around for most of these shows. Okay.
- 1:18:21Um, and I was in the world as a conscious person to
- 1:18:24witness their effect. Okay, well, being 5 years old when
- 1:18:28something debuted doesn't— I believe in you, but here's my question. Where's Sons of Anarchy
- 1:18:31on this list? I mean, look, look at, look at what's in this list.
- 1:18:34Breaking Bad, Succession, Game of Thrones, Curb Your Enthusiasm. All these
- 1:18:38shows I've been around for. Arrested Development. Like, you're like acting like I I have
- 1:18:42never heard of all the shows. No, wait, wait, did I say heard of every
- 1:18:46single one of them? Did I say heard of, or did I say— did I
- 1:18:48say— Jesus, let's not yell at each other. But you're also— but you're also saying
- 1:18:53that like I wasn't around to feel the cultural impact of these shows.
- 1:18:56Oh yeah, I was. Hey, hey, Mocha, I'm not gonna lie, your elementary school cultural
- 1:19:01impact of The Wire is not impressing me. It's just not.
- 1:19:04What are you talking about? My, my, my, my 8th
- 1:19:08grade teacher wouldn't shut up about The Wire. See, that's a good
- 1:19:128th grade teacher, by the way. And, and you know what? And you know what?
- 1:19:15I love that for you, but that is, that is not the same as you
- 1:19:18being like, I loved the ending of Chernobyl because I was old enough to watch
- 1:19:22it. Because that's how— you're acting like I'm 12. I'm 28 years old.
- 1:19:26I've— I'm like the same generation as you, by the way.
- 1:19:30I'm a little kid. Like, I think that you're old enough to judge a lot
- 1:19:33of this, but what I am saying is that like There it— when you were
- 1:19:37like, they're opening, they said like starting in 2000. You were
- 1:19:41like 4 years old when this window began. So like, I was 2.
- 1:19:45Okay, but I was giving you more credit than you deserve, by the way,
- 1:19:49uh, on this list. But you should give me more credit. I'm really thrilled about
- 1:19:52it because I have 2 older brothers. Um, yes,
- 1:19:55you beat— and a lot of this stuff is just as relevant. Okay, but okay,
- 1:19:58so what I asked you was, you— so you haven't seen The Wire. You have—
- 1:20:02you, you— have you seen how— of the top 10, what have you watched
- 1:20:06all the way through? Um, Breaking Bad,
- 1:20:10Game of Thrones, Curb. Um,
- 1:20:14and yeah. Okay, which ones have you seen? Have you seen all of them?
- 1:20:17I've seen Breaking Bad, The Wire, Succession, Game of Thrones,
- 1:20:20Veep, 30 Rock, Curb, and Atlanta. The only one here
- 1:20:24I've not seen every episode of— there's only one thing here I've not seen every
- 1:20:27episode in the top Um, the top 13.
- 1:20:31Fleabag stressed me out because that whole thing was like, I don't like secondhand
- 1:20:35embarrassment. And like, that's an issue for me as well. And so that's the same
- 1:20:39reason I'm not a big fan of Curb. I can only watch it like one
- 1:20:41episode. 100%. It's one of those things for me. But I have watched all of
- 1:20:44the episodes. I've never watched all of Veep. I've only watched season 1.
- 1:20:47And I really like Veep. I really like Veep. So like, maybe that's just
- 1:20:51an American humor thing. Um, last but not least, my favorite thing
- 1:20:54on this list. I just found it and it really is funny and it is
- 1:20:57correct because there is a show on this list, but it's very
- 1:21:01specific, and that's True Detective season 1. It only
- 1:21:04specifies season 1, and it is currently, uh, right there on,
- 1:21:08uh, season 1, number 35. True Detective is not on this
- 1:21:12list. Did you see True Detective season 1?
- 1:21:16Um, it's been on my list. It's been something that I've been meaning to watch.
- 1:21:20Okay, so that— I will say that I, I think
- 1:21:23that's one of the best shows of the 20th century. Season 1 is— I think
- 1:21:26it was so almost untouchable. Also Homeland, the first
- 1:21:302 seasons of Homeland. First season, first 2 were great. First 2 seasons of
- 1:21:34Homeland lost me in third. Were, were the like, were like a like paradigm-shifting
- 1:21:40experience, and then things got a little crazy. Uh,
- 1:21:43Mocha, if you want to know what it was like to be a
- 1:21:47millennial in the like early 2000s, watch the,
- 1:21:50watch the first 2 episodes of Homeland, or seasons of Homeland.
- 1:21:54That shit was so good. The acting is so good though.
- 1:21:57No, it loses you in season 3. Damian Lewis is so—
- 1:22:02he's such a good actor. He's very good. Uh, so I actually like— all in
- 1:22:06all, I like this list. I think it's fun. I think it's giving us a
- 1:22:08lot of stuff. There's definitely some like— there's definitely going to be some,
- 1:22:12some generational stuff between Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z who
- 1:22:15are all old enough to watch a lot of these shows, but whatever. Number 70,
- 1:22:18The Shield, correct? Needs to be higher. Oh, your boy, you're— yeah, you love The
- 1:22:22Shield. You're like a super fan. I don't think The Shield should be higher than
- 1:22:2570. You're very bad at like— so like, this is when
- 1:22:28I— this is how I suss out whether people are good at— because like,
- 1:22:32what you haven't heard me say is fuck Mad Men, and I
- 1:22:36literally think Mad Men's one of the worst. Like, I fucking hate
- 1:22:40Mad Men. Really? Yo, yo, Isaiah just said Prison
- 1:22:43Break. Prison Break, we're talking about like season 1, season 1, season 1 and
- 1:22:482. Goated. No, you're right. No, no, you're right. Prison Break was
- 1:22:51a thing. Prison Break was a thing that was like— and it was a
- 1:22:55like a cultural thing. But I was in elementary school when that
- 1:22:58aired. I genuinely hate Mad Men. And I'm not—
- 1:23:02too many people have told me where Mad Men ranks for
- 1:23:06them for me to like— I'm not spending my time arguing it, but I don't
- 1:23:09like that show. I like it. Does nothing for me. But you
- 1:23:14have to be able to So like, my favorite show is on this list.
- 1:23:16My favorite show of all time is on this list. Have you heard me complain
- 1:23:19about it? No. And you want to know why? Because I'm better at everything
- 1:23:22than everybody else. Interesting. And so what happens is that
- 1:23:26when I see lists, I take everything with a grain of salt. What is your
- 1:23:30favorite show of all time? Lost. Right? Okay.
- 1:23:33And it's way higher than your show. Interesting. Because my show— I
- 1:23:37have better taste than you. My God, I watched every single episode of
- 1:23:41Lost. I have every season of Lost on DVD, fuck right
- 1:23:45off. Wait, I love Lost, make no mistake, but are we gonna sit here and
- 1:23:49say they really stuck the landing there? Yes. Oh, give me a fucking break.
- 1:23:52That was— are you one of those people that thinks it means they were dead
- 1:23:55the whole time? Oh no, no, not at all. Okay. No, no, the, the,
- 1:23:57the, the flash sideways? No, no, no, no, no. Come on, Cody, you know what,
- 1:24:00skip Vegas. We're going in there, we're getting cozy on the
- 1:24:04couch, we're firing up, we're firing all of Lost. Listen, I love this.
- 1:24:08We are going to watch Lost start to finish. I will tell you, if you
- 1:24:11like Lost— I do love Lost— I will reconvince you. If you watch
- 1:24:15with me, you will end that show feeling like your whole
- 1:24:18life had changed. Okay, I have seen all of Lost more
- 1:24:22than once, and I will tell you this 7 times. I will tell you this.
- 1:24:25Shut up, Mocha. Lost has the
- 1:24:29single best ending to a season of any show I had ever seen.
- 1:24:32And it's— Tale of the Shield? No, no, no. Season 3 ending
- 1:24:36of Lost. Oh, not Penny's Boat? No, I know that was— that
- 1:24:40was the episode, but it wasn't the ending. Yeah, but you're— that episode— not Penny's
- 1:24:44Boat. Yeah, that was the— fuck, that hurts so bad. But no, the very end—
- 1:24:46the very end of that episode was, Kate, we have
- 1:24:50to go back. I fucking— I fucking spat
- 1:24:54out my drink, threw glasses against the wall, like, no, no, what the fuck?
- 1:24:57No, it can't end here. I need to know now. It's fucking great. I— my
- 1:25:01household repeatedly says we have to go back out of context. Just quoting that.
- 1:25:05Really great stuff. Now my favorite show of all time is Doctor
- 1:25:08Who, but it's not on this list because that's been around for about roughly 70
- 1:25:11years. Although if they had, I wish that they had had
- 1:25:15like the newer version on there. No, yeah, I wish they were like shows who
- 1:25:19had a certain amount of seasons in them, because like Doctor Who would be
- 1:25:22on here because it was relaunched in 2005. So it should be
- 1:25:26like they should have given like anything that had a certain amount
- 1:25:29of seasons in the 21st century. But that being said, I will say this,
- 1:25:32my favorite show of all time that on this list is Arrested
- 1:25:36Development. I think it's the funniest. You've talked more about The
- 1:25:40Shield to me though. Oh, I love The Shield. No, The Shield's really great,
- 1:25:43but no, like, if I, if I had the choice to sit down and watch
- 1:25:45Arrested Development or The Shield, I'm watching Arrested Development 10 out of 10 times.
- 1:25:48I think— have you ever sat down and truly watched? Yeah, I, I've watched a
- 1:25:51ton of it. I think we're sitting down for Lost, we're gonna sit down and
- 1:25:54watch Arrested Development together. I, I wouldn't be mad about it. I think Arrested Development's
- 1:25:58really funny, but if we're gonna do that, then we have to watch V.
- 1:25:59Keep. And then, and then you're gonna hit me with another thing after, so we're
- 1:26:03gonna keep doing this. Mocha, you're moving in. We got a lot of shows to
- 1:26:05watch, baby. Mocha, what is
- 1:26:09your favorite show on this list? Like, have you looked at it
- 1:26:13and sort of like— yeah, well, it's, yeah, it's easy. I mean, Breaking Bad.
- 1:26:16Okay, easy. Okay, so for you, that's a good pick for number 1? I think
- 1:26:20it's a good pick. Okay. Um, I also have another problem though with this list.
- 1:26:23Okay. 100 is just too big of number. It's too
- 1:26:27big of a number. I agree. It's too big of a number. Too big of
- 1:26:31a number. Wait, you know what's really funny is I, I normally hate a
- 1:26:35long list. I think that I was so glad they had 100. Really?
- 1:26:38Because, because we have gotten to a place where there's so
- 1:26:43many shows, like especially since the streaming era starting in
- 1:26:47like 2010, 2011, there's so much shit that comes out that's like really,
- 1:26:50really good And so I was like, if this was a
- 1:26:54list that came out in 2010, it would be a crazy number of shows.
- 1:26:58But we've— we like so much. So like The Night Of— have you seen The
- 1:27:02Night Of? Oh, what a fucking great show. The Night
- 1:27:06Of at number 92. So good. It's one of the best seasons
- 1:27:11of television I've ever watched, and nobody's fucking seen it.
- 1:27:14It was nominated for awards. Riz Ahmed was amazing. He was really great. So like,
- 1:27:18that is goated. And this is actually where I really first saw something. I'm like,
- 1:27:22have you seen it, Mocha? Or no, see, I remember when
- 1:27:27it was coming out, right? So what I'm saying is like, like,
- 1:27:30that's something where I'm like, I'm, I'm glad that it got a shout out because
- 1:27:34I remember that watching that show and being like, oh, this shit is one of
- 1:27:38the best actors alive, right? Like, that's how I really fell in love with Riz
- 1:27:42Ahmed. And so I'm glad that it— but I get what you're saying where it's
- 1:27:45like it can be a little overwhelming. Um, and part
- 1:27:49of the issue is that they've got some like real dingbat shows on there,
- 1:27:51like We don't need The Queen's Gambit on there. Yeah, Squid Game on here.
- 1:27:55Yeah, yeah, get out of here. We also— oh, by the way, Community should
- 1:28:00be higher. Also, talk about cultural relevance, Dexter at
- 1:28:0388. I've never seen Dexter, but there was a couple
- 1:28:07years, especially the first 4 seasons of Dexter. Holy shit, good. Very good call,
- 1:28:11Mocha. Very good call. All my former— all of my former anger at
- 1:28:15you has been rescinded. Can I also throw another one that should— that's criminally low?
- 1:28:17I get it was only 3 seasons, but I'm sorry, you want to talk about
- 1:28:20cultural impact? Number 58. Chappelle's Show at 58.
- 1:28:25Fucking move it up. So are you mad? Always Sunny, move it up.
- 1:28:2878. Fucking move it up. It's got to be higher. It's Always Sunny should be
- 1:28:32higher. That's crazy. All right, let's ask— let's, let's— before we check
- 1:28:35the, the chat before we go, because we should check the chat to see if
- 1:28:38anyone has any hardcore takes. There's a couple in there already. My, my question
- 1:28:42is, how do you guys feel about Key Peele ahead of Chappelle's Show? I actually
- 1:28:46am not against it being ahead My problem is it's like 17 to 58,
- 1:28:49and that's crazy. Too big of a gap. How do you feel about Key& Peele
- 1:28:53versus Chappelle? Um, I think the thing that— the
- 1:28:57advantage that Key& Peele might have is there's just more content.
- 1:29:01Yeah, I, um, I think that Key& Peele like knew they were making
- 1:29:05content for, for an internet era, and it was different. Yeah, I agree
- 1:29:09with that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, on here, Prison Breaks. Uh, one person mentions
- 1:29:14Prison Break. Um, here's a good one. We're making— Maria says, I wish you
- 1:29:17guys were checking the chat, we're making some good points. There is,
- 1:29:21uh, somebody mentions Fringe. That's a great call. Fringe should get
- 1:29:25some love. There's one on here that I will admit is one of my favorite
- 1:29:28shows of all time, but it only had 17 episodes. What show? I love
- 1:29:32that someone in here said Firefly. Firefly is fantastic.
- 1:29:36But I have to say, who said Firefly? Uh, that would be,
- 1:29:40uh, MX Oh my god, why does he stay
- 1:29:44pissing me off? No, you're right. It's a great show. There's only 17 episodes.
- 1:29:47He stayed— he's trolling. He's trolling. He's constantly trolling. Firefly is phenomenal, but it was
- 1:29:5117 episodes. Um, Twin Peaks is amazing. Good call. Let's see, we're going through the
- 1:29:55chat, guys. We're not gonna leave you hanging before we go. Maria's Loving Lanterns will
- 1:29:59be on the list. Bird Gang 79 said, I adore Fleabag personally,
- 1:30:03and that's really good for you, but, but as high on that list,
- 1:30:07Bird Gang, as high on that list? Are we sure?
- 1:30:10Uh, Maria asks, where's ER on this list?
- 1:30:131990s, pre-2000s. Yeah, pre-2000s. Um, also Friday
- 1:30:17Night Lights at 14 makes, uh, Meg's, uh,
- 1:30:20Megan Guilfoyle's, uh, oh yeah, happy because— so I think that's a little high personally.
- 1:30:24Oh, fuck, literally stop fucking with me. I think it's a little high.
- 1:30:27Fuck off. Me and Meg know everything.
- 1:30:30We're way better than you and everything and all of it. It's a little high.
- 1:30:34No, come on, dude. Friday Night Lights was iconic, and Meg's right,
- 1:30:38and it's perfect. It's a lot. I think I just broke my mic. What did
- 1:30:42I do? Stop breaking our shit. No, I don't. Oh, I'm the only reason that
- 1:30:46we don't have a beeping thing in our— That is true, but I agree.
- 1:30:50Ha ha, Mama Fox agrees with me. No Sons of Anarchy is a travesty.
- 1:30:54Yes, I agree. That's much, right? Oh, Mocha agrees too.
- 1:30:58Yeah, I think it's just relevance. Good everything.
- 1:31:01All right, so where everybody— Opie alone should be on this list.
- 1:31:05Isaiah, Isaiah just made a really good point. What's up? Oh,
- 1:31:08one season Watchmen over Chernobyl, and he's 100%
- 1:31:13right. Have you guys seen The Watchmen? Yes,
- 1:31:16really liked it. Like the more than Chernobyl? I can definitely tell you. No,
- 1:31:19you haven't seen The Watchmen? No, no, it's really good. Oh dude, you should check
- 1:31:23it out. It is. No, it is really fucking good. Like psychotically good.
- 1:31:27By the way, is The Leftovers on here? Is The Leftovers on here?
- 1:31:31Uh, it is on there, yes. Pretty high, it's like on number 40. Uh,
- 1:31:34by the way, uh, somebody says, I wish, but Firefly didn't— hasn't aged well.
- 1:31:37You are correct, it has not aged well, because the longer you go back
- 1:31:41and you look at it, you realize it is a space-bound movie about— oh my
- 1:31:46God, the Confederacy, more or less.
- 1:31:48Bro, Isaiah's saying all the aunties loved Sons of Anarchy
- 1:31:52is very funny.
- 1:31:56Auntie's Love said he's not wrong. Um, was The Strain on
- 1:31:59the list or Legion? I did not see Strain or Legion on the list.
- 1:32:03No, Legion was actually a sneaky good one. Yeah, I didn't love The
- 1:32:07Strain though. All right, well guys, we'll talk more. We'll talk more TV. We'll do—
- 1:32:11you know what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna do the thing we did a
- 1:32:12while ago. Um, I'm gonna put out to listeners
- 1:32:16topic suggestions. Okay, so that we can do a topic show. I love that.
- 1:32:20Um, and we'll probably do it on a Friday. So that we have this like
- 1:32:24looser show. We're going to have a lot to do on Tuesdays every week after
- 1:32:27NFL. But this was fun. Absolutely was fun. Me and Mocha— me
- 1:32:30and Mocha got in a generational war. You guys got fucking into it. It was
- 1:32:33great. I hate it when I see the kids fighting. You're lucky this screen is
- 1:32:37protecting her. Well, here's the most important thing.
- 1:32:40Make sure you like, share, and subscribe. Hey, listen, this show is kind of really

- 1:33:02It's, it does not go not noticed and it will not go, uh,
- 1:33:06unrewarded. Unrewarded. Truly. Like, it's, we are not the
