1:09
Starts
1:10
out
1:10
the
1:10
show
1:10
talking
1:11
about
1:11
a
1:11
big
1:11
problem
1:12
for
1:12
small
1:12
business
1:13
owners
1:13
in
1:13
the
1:14
marketplace
1:14
selling
1:15
home
1:15
improvement
1:16
products
1:16
and
1:17
then
1:17
dives
1:18
into
1:18
his
1:18
secrets
1:19
in
1:19
planning
1:19
an
1:20
outdoor
1:20
kitchen
1:20
and
1:21
living
1:21
space.
1:22
This
1:22
is
1:22
something
1:23
again,
1:23
I'm
1:23
going
1:23
to
1:23
rail
1:24
on
1:24
my
1:24
city
1:24
of
1:24
Portland
1:25
that
1:25
I
1:25
live
1:25
next
1:25
to.
1:26
If
1:27
I
1:27
go
1:27
get
1:27
a
1:27
building
1:27
permit
1:28
over
1:28
there
1:28
for
1:28
a
1:29
kitchen
1:29
remodel,
1:29
they're
1:29
going
1:29
to
1:30
tell
1:30
me
1:30
where
1:30
to
1:30
plant
1:30
these
1:30
two
1:31
trees
1:31
in
1:31
my
1:31
front
1:31
yard
1:32
if
1:32
I
1:32
don't
1:33
have
1:33
enough.
1:34
And
1:34
yeah,
1:34
it's
1:35
part
1:35
of
1:35
the
1:35
permit
1:35
process.
1:36
It's
1:37
crazy.
1:38
So
1:38
understanding
1:39
that.
1:39
And
1:40
then
1:40
so
1:40
grab
1:40
your
1:41
toolbox,
1:41
put
1:42
on
1:42
your
1:42
thinking
1:42
cap
1:43
and
1:43
let's
1:43
get
1:43
to
1:44
work
1:44
right
1:45
here
1:45
on
1:45
around
1:45
the.

2:24

2:24

2:25
They
2:26
have
2:26
got
2:26
it
2:26
down
2:27
and
2:27
that's
2:27
what
2:27
I
2:27
cook
2:28
my
2:28
burgers
2:28
and
2:29
brisket
2:29
with.
2:29
It's
2:30
a
2:30
great
2:30
way
2:30
to
2:30
go.
2:31
Well,
2:31
today
2:32
I
2:32
wanted
2:32
to
2:32
talk
2:32
about
2:33
a
2:33
few
2:33
things
2:34
in
2:34
this
2:34
hour.
2:35
First
2:35
off,
2:36
I
2:36
wanted
2:36
to
2:36
talk
2:36
about
2:37
something
2:37
that
2:37
is
2:37
really
2:38
hurting
2:39
our
2:39
small
2:39
entrepreneurs
2:40
out
2:41
there
2:42
in
2:42
relating
2:42
to
2:43
stuff
2:43
that
2:44
we
2:44
put
2:44
inside
2:44
our
2:45
houses.
2:46
There
2:46
are
2:46
so
2:46
many
2:47
great
2:47
people
2:47
and
2:47
I
2:47
meet
2:48
them
2:48
usually
2:48
at
2:48
the
2:48
National
2:49
Hardware
2:49
Show.
2:50
It's
2:50
all
2:51
the
2:51
inventors,
2:52
creators
2:53
and
2:53
things
2:53
out
2:54
there
2:54
that
2:55
are
2:55
trying
2:55
to
2:55
create
2:55
something
2:56
new
2:56
to
2:56
make
2:57
your
2:57
life
2:57
a
2:58
little
2:58
bit
2:58
easier,
2:59
a
2:59
little
2:59
bit
3:00
safer,
3:00
all
3:01
of
3:01
those
3:01
different
3:01
things.
3:02
And
3:03
here
3:03
is
3:03
the
3:03
issue
3:03
that
3:03
we're
3:04
running
3:04
into
3:04
out
3:04
there
3:05
that
3:05
we
3:06
really
3:06
need
3:06
to
3:06
find
3:06
a
3:07
fix
3:07
for
3:07
because
3:08
right
3:08
now
3:09
it's
3:09
really
3:09
broken
3:10
and
3:10
it's
3:11
costing
3:11
you
3:11
and
3:12
me
3:12
and
3:13
these
3:13
inventors
3:13
and
3:14
creators
3:14
a
3:15
ton
3:15
of
3:15
money.
3:16
So
3:16
how
3:16
do
3:17
we
3:17
fix
3:17
it?
3:17
Let's
3:17
Talk
3:17
about
3:18
the
3:18
problem
3:18
first.
3:19
First
3:19
off,
3:20
let's
3:20
say
3:21
you
3:21
came
3:21
up
3:21
with
3:22
a
3:22
brand
3:22
new
3:22
product,
3:23
something
3:24
that
3:24
is
3:24
going
3:24
to
3:24
go
3:24
inside
3:25
your
3:25
house.
3:26
Maybe
3:26
it's
3:26
something
3:26
that's
3:27
going
3:27
to
3:27
make
3:27
painting
3:28
or
3:28
cleaning
3:29
or
3:30
something
3:30
like
3:30
that
3:30
so
3:31
much
3:31
easier.
3:32
And
3:32
you
3:33
spend
3:33
a
3:33
couple
3:34
years
3:34
of
3:34
your
3:34
life
3:35
developing
3:36
it
3:36
out,
3:37
figuring
3:37
out
3:38
how
3:38
to
3:38
make
3:38
it,
3:39
whether
3:39
it's
3:39
made
3:39
in
3:40
USA
3:40
here
3:40
or
3:41
overseas.
3:43
You
3:43
file
3:43
the
3:43
trademarks,
3:44
the
3:44
patents,
3:45
all
3:45
the
3:45
things
3:46
that
3:46
you
3:46
do
3:47
to
3:47
protect
3:47
your
3:48
invention.
3:49
Now
3:49
here
3:50
is
3:50
where
3:50
the
3:51
breakdown
3:51
occurs.
3:53
What
3:53
we're
3:53
seeing
3:54
is
3:55
that
3:55
once
3:56
you
3:56
go
3:56
to
3:56
market
3:56
with
3:57
this,
3:57
as
3:58
soon
3:58
as
3:58
it
3:58
looks
3:58
like
3:59
there's
3:59
a
3:59
little
4:00
bit
4:00
of
4:00
traction,
4:01
even
4:01
though
4:01
you
4:02
have
4:02
done
4:02
everything
4:02
in
4:03
your
4:03
right
4:03
to
4:03
protect
4:04
this
4:04
product,
4:05
all
4:05
of
4:05
a
4:06
sudden
4:06
on
4:07
Amazon,
4:09
hardware
4:09
stores,
4:10
online,
4:11
any
4:11
one
4:12
of
4:12
these
4:12
different
4:12
places,
4:13
you'll
4:14
see
4:14
a
4:14
knockoff
4:15
product
4:15
show
4:15
up.
4:16
And
4:16
the
4:16
problem
4:17
is,
4:17
is
4:17
you
4:18
as
4:18
a
4:18
small
4:18
business
4:19
owner
4:20
now
4:20
have
4:20
to
4:21
go
4:21
spend
4:22
millions
4:23
of
4:23
dollars
4:23
of
4:24
your
4:24
own
4:24
money.
4:25
This
4:25
isn't
4:25
something
4:26
that
4:26
you
4:26
can
4:26
really
4:26
go
4:26
buy
4:27
insurance
4:27
for.
4:28
You
4:28
now
4:29
have
4:29
to
4:29
go
4:29
spend
4:30
at
4:30
least
4:31
six
4:31
figures
4:32
to
4:32
get
4:32
the
4:32
ball
4:32
rolling.
4:33
And
4:33
then
4:34
if
4:34
it
4:34
goes
4:34
to
4:34
court,
4:34
millions
4:35
of
4:35
dollars
4:36
to
4:36
go
4:36
after
4:37
these
4:37
people
4:38
who
4:38
legitimately
4:39
stole
4:40
your
4:40
product
4:41
and
4:41
your
4:41
idea
4:42
and
4:43
all
4:43
of
4:43
your
4:43
hard
4:44
work.
4:44
And
4:45
so
4:45
what
4:45
happens
4:45
is,
4:46
is
4:46
these
4:46
companies,
4:47
and
4:47
this
4:47
is
4:47
not
4:48
just
4:48
something
4:48
that
4:48
we
4:49
see
4:49
happening
4:49
overseas.
4:50
This
4:51
is
4:51
not
4:51
something
4:51
we
4:52
can
4:52
wave
4:52
a
4:52
flag
4:52
and
4:52
go,
4:53
oh,
4:53
it's
4:53
China.
4:53
No,
4:54
these
4:54
many
4:54
times
4:54
are
4:55
American
4:55
companies
4:57
that
4:57
sit
4:57
there
4:58
and
4:58
take
4:59
the
4:59
product,
5:00
find
5:00
a
5:00
cheaper
5:01
way
5:01
to
5:01
build
5:01
it
5:02
without
5:03
all
5:03
the
5:03
expensive
5:05
paying
5:05
the
5:05
tens
5:06
of
5:06
thousands
5:06
of
5:06
dollars
5:07
to
5:07
get
5:07
it
5:07
through
5:07
the
5:07
trademark
5:08
process
5:09
and
5:09
patent
5:10
process
5:11
and
5:11
get
5:12
you
5:12
there.
5:12
And
5:13
so
5:13
all
5:13
of
5:13
a
5:13
sudden
5:14
you
5:14
now
5:14
have
5:14
to
5:14
have
5:14
these
5:15
attorneys
5:16
and
5:17
it
5:17
could
5:17
be
5:17
state,
5:18
it
5:18
could
5:19
be
5:19
federal,
5:20
all
5:21
these
5:21
different
5:21
court
5:21
cases.
5:22
And
5:22
you
5:23
go
5:23
back
5:23
and
5:23
forth
5:24
and
5:25
two,
5:25
three,
5:25
four,
5:26
five
5:26
years
5:26
later,
5:27
you're
5:28
now
5:28
going
5:28
through
5:28
all
5:29
this
5:29
and
5:29
you
5:29
have
5:30
got
5:30
to
5:30
win.
5:31
But
5:32
if
5:32
they
5:32
don't
5:32
pay
5:32
you,
5:33
you've
5:33
just
5:33
spent
5:34
millions
5:34
of
5:34
dollars,
5:34
your
5:35
profits.
5:36
And
5:36
this
5:36
is
5:37
a
5:37
problem
5:37
that
5:37
we
5:37
see
5:38
plaguing
5:39
ourselves
5:40
here
5:40
in
5:40
the
5:40
United
5:40
States.
5:41
And
5:41
we
5:41
need
5:41
to
5:42
come
5:42
up
5:42
with
5:42
a
5:42
solution
5:44
so
5:44
we
5:44
can
5:44
protect
5:45
everyone
5:46
from
5:46
the
5:46
homeowners
5:46
that
5:47
are
5:47
buying
5:47
a
5:47
product
5:47
that
5:48
is
5:48
knocked
5:48
off,
5:49
that
5:49
maybe
5:50
didn't
5:50
meet
5:50
the
5:50
stringent
5:51
testing,
5:51
that
5:51
could
5:52
be
5:52
a
5:52
fire
5:52
hazard,
5:52
that
5:53
could
5:53
be
5:53
a
5:53
safety
5:53
issue.
5:54
They're
5:55
stealing
5:55
all
5:55
that
5:56
product.
5:56
So
5:56
it's
5:56
something
5:57
that
5:57
I
5:57
think
5:57
we
5:57
need
5:57
to
5:58
reach
5:58
out
5:58
to
5:59
our
5:59
legislators,
6:01
all
6:01
of
6:01
our
6:01
people
6:02
out
6:02
there
6:03
that
6:03
are
6:03
doing
6:03
stuff
6:04
to
6:04
see
6:04
if
6:04
there's
6:05
a
6:05
better
6:05
way
6:05
for
6:05
us
6:06
to
6:06
police
6:06
this
6:06
without
6:07
having
6:07
to
6:07
just
6:07
go
6:07
to
6:08
court.
6:08
It
6:08
would
6:09
be
6:09
great
6:10
if
6:10
we
6:10
could
6:10
beef
6:11
up
6:11
the
6:12
US
6:12
Patent
6:13
Trademark
6:13
Office
6:14
where
6:14
you
6:14
could
6:14
file
6:15
a,
6:15
a
6:15
complaint
6:16
through
6:16
them
6:17
and
6:17
have
6:18
it
6:18
gone
6:18
that
6:18
way
6:19
and
6:19
let
6:19
them
6:20
adjudicate
6:20
this
6:21
stuff
6:21
since
6:21
they
6:22
are
6:22
that
6:22
organization.
6:23
That
6:23
organization
6:23
there,
6:24
they
6:24
try
6:25
to
6:25
protect
6:26
people,
6:27
but
6:27
they
6:27
don't
6:27
really
6:27
have
6:28
too
6:28
much
6:28
teeth
6:28
in
6:28
it.
6:29
So
6:29
we
6:29
need
6:29
to
6:29
come
6:29
up
6:29
with
6:29
a
6:30
way
6:30
to
6:30
protect
6:31
our
6:32
consumers
6:32
and
6:33
our
6:33
inventors
6:34
out
6:34
there.
6:35
And
6:35
if
6:36
you've
6:36
got
6:36
an
6:36
idea
6:36
how
6:37
to
6:37
fix
6:37
this,
6:37
I'd
6:37
love
6:37
to
6:38
hear
6:38
it.
6:38
Head
6:38
over
6:38
to
6:39
aroundthehouse
6:40
online.com
6:41
and
6:41
we
6:42
can
6:43
continue
6:43
that
6:43
chat
6:44
over
6:44
there.
6:44
I'd
6:44
love
6:45
to
6:45
get
6:45
people's
6:45
ideas
6:45
on
6:46
how
6:46
to
6:46
do
6:46
this.
6:47
Obviously
6:47
we
6:47
need
6:48
some
6:48
kind
6:48
of
6:48
legislation
6:49
and
6:49
I
6:49
agree
6:49
we
6:49
should
6:50
be
6:50
taking
6:50
a
6:50
lot
6:50
of
6:51
different
6:51
laws
6:51
out
6:52
because
6:52
we've
6:52
got
6:53
too
6:53
many
6:53
regulations
6:54
out
6:54
there.
6:54
But
6:55
in
6:55
this
6:55
case,
6:56
I
6:56
think
6:56
we've
6:56
got
6:56
a
6:57
serious
6:57
issue
6:57
that
6:57
we
6:57
need
6:58
to
6:58
fix.
6:58
So
6:59
let's
6:59
see
6:59
if
6:59
we
6:59
can
6:59
get
7:00
that
7:00
dialed
7:00
in
7:00
and
7:01
make
7:01
that
7:01
work
7:01
a
7:01
little
7:01
bit
7:02
better
7:02
out
7:02
there
7:03
for
7:03
all
7:03
of
7:04
those
7:04
people
7:05
that
7:05
are
7:05
inventing,
7:06
creating,
7:07
and
7:07
all
7:07
of
7:07
us
7:08
consumers
7:08
out
7:08
there
7:08
that
7:09
want
7:09
to
7:09
buy
7:09
those
7:09
products
7:10
but
7:11
don't
7:11
know
7:12
what
7:12
we
7:12
have
7:13
to
7:13
do
7:13
here
7:13
to
7:13
find
7:14
the
7:14
right
7:14
product.
7:14
Are
7:14
you
7:15
even
7:15
buying
7:15
the
7:15
original
7:15
one?
7:16
Are
7:16
you
7:16
buying
7:16
the
7:16
knockoff?
7:17
I
7:18
bought
7:18
the
7:18
knockoffs
7:18
on
7:19
stuff
7:19
before
7:20
and
7:20
I
7:20
tell
7:20
you
7:20
what,
7:21
I
7:21
did
7:21
them
7:22
on
7:22
a
7:22
test
7:23
when
7:23
we
7:23
had
7:23
my
7:23
around
7:24
the
7:24
House
7:24
Northwest
7:24
and
7:25
we
7:25
did
7:25
a
7:25
little
7:25
segment
7:25
called
7:25
let's
7:26
test
7:26
it.
7:27
Tell
7:27
you
7:27
what,
7:27
he
7:28
was
7:28
a
7:28
hot
7:28
mess.
7:29
Some
7:29
of
7:29
those
7:29
things,
7:29
they
7:30
were
7:30
bad
7:30
rip
7:30
offs,
7:31
which
7:32
means
7:32
you
7:33
weren't
7:33
getting
7:33
the
7:33
product
7:33
you
7:34
thought
7:34
you
7:34
were
7:34
getting.
7:35
And
7:35
that
7:35
hurts
7:35
the
7:35
consumer.
7:36
So.
7:36
All
7:37
right,
7:37
guys,
7:37
enough
7:37
on
7:38
this
7:38
little
7:38
rant
7:39
right
7:39
here.
7:39
We've
7:39
got
7:39
a
7:39
lot
7:39
I
7:40
want
7:40
to
7:40
talk
7:40
about
7:40
today
7:41
in
7:41
this
7:42
hour
7:42
of
7:42
the
7:42
show.
7:43
And
7:43
really,
7:44
let's
7:45
see
7:45
if
7:45
we
7:45
can
7:45
do
7:46
some
7:46
research
7:46
on
7:46
our
7:46
own.
7:47
We're
7:47
buying
7:47
products,
7:47
we
7:48
go,
7:48
oh,
7:48
wow,
7:48
that's
7:48
a
7:48
cool
7:49
new
7:49
thing.
7:49
Is
7:50
that
7:50
the
7:50
original
7:50
product
7:51
you're
7:51
getting?
7:51
Let's
7:52
see
7:52
if
7:52
we
7:52
can
7:52
support
7:52
our
7:53
inventors
7:53
and
7:53
creators
7:54
out
7:54
there
7:54
a
7:55
little
7:55
bit
7:55
more.
7:56
Well,
7:56
I
7:56
tell
7:56
you
7:57
what,
7:57
I
7:57
had
7:57
an
7:57
amazing
7:58
Father's
7:58
Day
7:58
weekend
7:59
this
7:59
last
7:59
Father's
7:59
Day.
8:00
It
8:00
was
8:00
great.
8:01
We
8:01
had
8:01
a
8:01
lot
8:02
of
8:02
fun.
8:02
It
8:03
was
8:03
great
8:03
hanging
8:04
out
8:04
with
8:04
Stan
8:04
Hayes.
8:05
Operation
8:05
Barbecue
8:06
Relief
8:06
went
8:06
out.
8:07
You
8:07
know,
8:07
he
8:07
was
8:07
on
8:07
the
8:07
show
8:08
last
8:08
week
8:08
and
8:08
I
8:09
tell
8:09
you
8:09
what,
8:09
that
8:09
guy
8:09
is
8:10
such
8:10
a
8:10
gentleman
8:11
and
8:11
a
8:11
scholar.
8:11
I
8:11
love
8:11
what
8:12
he's
8:12
doing
8:12
out
8:12
there.
8:13
And
8:13
with
8:14
all
8:14
the
8:14
natural
8:14
disasters
8:15
are
8:15
going
8:15
to
8:15
be
8:15
happening
8:16
this
8:16
year
8:16
out
8:16
there
8:16
in
8:17
the
8:17
United
8:17
States.
8:18
Make
8:18
sure
8:18
and
8:18
you
8:18
support
8:19
these
8:19
guys
8:19
because
8:20
Operation
8:20
Barbecue
8:21
Relief.
8:22
It
8:22
was
8:22
so
8:23
great
8:23
to
8:23
be
8:23
over
8:23
there.
8:23
This
8:24
time
8:24
I
8:24
wasn't
8:24
actually
8:24
cooking
8:25
a
8:25
volunteer
8:25
and
8:25
I
8:25
was
8:26
just
8:26
over
8:26
there
8:26
enjoying
8:26
the
8:26
barbecue
8:27
festival
8:28
and
8:28
it
8:28
was
8:28
a
8:28
packed
8:29
house.
8:29
He
8:29
was
8:30
teaching
8:30
people
8:30
how
8:30
to
8:30
cook.
8:31
It
8:31
was
8:31
really
8:31
cool.
8:32
Gave
8:32
some
8:32
great
8:32
tips
8:33
on
8:33
stuff
8:34
and
8:34
showed
8:34
us
8:35
some
8:35
of
8:35
his
8:36
secrets
8:36
to
8:36
barbecue
8:36
that
8:37
I'm
8:37
going
8:37
to
8:37
use
8:37
the
8:38
next
8:38
time
8:38
here.
8:39
But
8:39
check
8:39
those
8:39
guys
8:40
out.
8:40
They're
8:40
a
8:40
lot
8:40
of
8:40
fun
8:41
and
8:41
I'd
8:42
love
8:42
to
8:42
support
8:42
them
8:43
because
8:43
they're
8:43
out
8:43
supporting
8:44
all
8:44
of
8:44
us
8:45
when
8:45
we
8:45
need
8:45
it
8:46
the
8:46
most.
8:47
Now,
8:47
a
8:47
lot
8:47
of
8:47
the
8:47
rest
8:48
of
8:48
this
8:48
hour,
8:48
I'm
8:49
going
8:49
to
8:49
be
8:49
talking
8:49
about
8:49
with
8:50
you
8:50
about
8:50
my
8:51
outdoor
8:51
kitchen
8:52
and
8:53
outdoor
8:53
living
8:53
design
8:54
tips.
8:54
These
8:55
are
8:55
the
8:55
things
8:55
that
8:55
I
8:55
have
8:56
learned.
8:56
Designing
8:56
my
8:57
own
8:57
place,
8:57
designing
8:58
places
8:58
for
8:58
others
8:59
that
9:00
can
9:00
really
9:00
make
9:00
your
9:01
life
9:01
and
9:01
the
9:02
design
9:02
part
9:02
of
9:02
this
9:03
a
9:03
heck
9:03
of
9:03
a
9:03
lot
9:04
easier.
9:05
Now,
9:05
when
9:05
you're
9:05
designing
9:06
an
9:06
outdoor
9:06
kitchen,
9:07
there's
9:07
so
9:08
many
9:08
things
9:08
to
9:08
consider.
9:09
And
9:10
what
9:10
I
9:10
want
9:10
you
9:10
to
9:10
do
9:10
is
9:11
the
9:11
biggest
9:11
part
9:11
of
9:11
this
9:12
whole
9:12
thing
9:13
is
9:13
to
9:13
plan
9:14
out
9:14
your
9:14
dream
9:14
space.
9:15
How
9:15
do
9:15
you
9:16
want
9:16
that
9:16
to
9:16
look
9:17
if
9:17
it's
9:17
all
9:18
said
9:18
and
9:18
done?
9:19
Because
9:19
the
9:20
problem
9:20
is
9:20
if
9:20
you
9:21
start
9:21
this
9:21
nickel
9:22
and
9:22
diamond
9:22
out,
9:22
like
9:22
a
9:23
lot
9:23
of
9:23
us
9:23
do
9:23
for
9:23
DIY
9:24
projects,
9:25
you
9:25
want
9:25
to
9:26
make
9:26
sure
9:26
that
9:26
you're
9:26
not
9:26
painting
9:27
yourself
9:27
in
9:27
that
9:28
corner
9:28
in
9:29
the
9:29
design
9:29
thing.
9:29
Because
9:30
if
9:30
you
9:31
want
9:31
a
9:31
refrigeration
9:32
unit
9:33
out
9:33
there,
9:33
if
9:34
you
9:34
want
9:34
to
9:34
have
9:35
a
9:35
television,
9:37
you
9:37
need
9:37
to
9:37
start
9:38
planning
9:38
the
9:38
electrical
9:39
early
9:39
on
9:40
for
9:40
this.
9:41
And
9:41
if
9:41
you've
9:41
got
9:41
a
9:42
cover
9:42
over
9:43
the
9:43
top
9:43
of
9:43
your
9:44
cooking
9:44
area,
9:45
what
9:45
are
9:45
you
9:45
doing
9:46
for
9:46
a
9:46
range
9:46
hood
9:46
so
9:47
you
9:47
don't
9:47
have
9:47
a
9:47
combustible
9:48
area
9:48
over
9:48
the
9:48
top
9:49
of
9:49
your
9:49
barbecue
9:50
so
9:50
you
9:50
don't
9:51
burn
9:51
the
9:51
place
9:51
down.
9:53
So
9:53
these
9:53
are
9:53
all
9:53
things
9:54
that
9:54
you
9:54
want
9:54
to
9:54
consider
9:55
before
9:56
you
9:56
even
9:56
get
9:56
started.
9:57
For
9:57
instance,
9:57
on
9:58
my
9:58
outdoor
9:58
barbecue
9:59
that
9:59
I
9:59
did,
10:00
I
10:00
planned
10:00
in
10:01
for
10:01
the
10:01
natural
10:01
gas,
10:02
I
10:02
planned
10:02
in
10:03
for
10:03
the
10:03
power
10:03
because
10:03
I
10:03
needed
10:04
to
10:04
have
10:04
power
10:04
for
10:04
the
10:05
lights
10:05
and
10:05
all
10:05
that
10:05
stuff
10:06
because
10:06
it
10:06
was
10:06
a
10:06
built
10:06
in
10:07
unit,
10:07
my
10:08
blaze
10:08
outdoor
10:09
unit
10:09
there,
10:09
that
10:09
was
10:09
all
10:09
built
10:10
in
10:11
rotisserie,
10:11
all
10:12
that
10:12
stuff
10:12
that
10:12
takes
10:12
its
10:13
own
10:13
power.
10:14
But
10:14
then
10:14
you
10:14
have
10:14
to
10:15
look
10:15
at
10:15
it
10:15
and
10:15
go,
10:15
okay,
10:16
what
10:16
if
10:16
I
10:16
want
10:16
refrigeration?
10:17
Wow,
10:18
refrigeration
10:19
is
10:19
cool.
10:20
Like
10:21
to
10:21
have
10:21
that.
10:21
Well,
10:21
that
10:22
should
10:22
probably
10:22
be
10:22
on
10:22
its
10:23
own
10:23
dedicated
10:23
circuit
10:24
that's
10:24
going
10:24
to
10:24
be
10:25
outside,
10:25
so
10:25
I
10:26
need
10:26
a
10:26
plan
10:26
for
10:26
that.
10:27
And
10:28
outlets,
10:29
television,
10:31
fans,
10:32
lighting,
10:33
what
10:33
all
10:33
are
10:34
you
10:34
going
10:34
to
10:34
be
10:34
doing
10:34
in
10:35
that
10:35
space
10:35
around
10:36
the
10:36
house.
10:36
We'll
10:36
be
10:36
right
10:37
back
10:37
after
10:37
these
10:37
important
10:38
messages.
10:38
Don't
10:39
go
10:39
anywhere.
10:39
We're
10:40
just
10:40
getting
10:40
started
10:41
in
10:41
outdoor
10:41
living.
12:19
What
12:19
it's
12:20
like
12:20
to
12:20
play
12:21
an
12:21
instrument,
12:22
to
12:23
be
12:23
in
12:23
a
12:24
band.
12:25
What's
12:25
up?
12:25
This
12:25
is
12:26
Stixitinia
12:27
and
12:27
Satchel
12:28
from
12:28
Steel
12:29
Panther
12:29
and
12:29
you
12:30
are
12:30
listening
12:30
to
12:31
around
12:31
the
12:32
House
12:32
with
12:32
Eric
12:33
G.
12:33
Yeah,
12:35
we
12:35
love
12:35
Eric
12:36
G.
12:36
And
12:36
you
12:37
should,
12:37
too.
12:39
1987.
12:42
I
12:42
never
12:42
wanna
12:43
leave
12:43
you.
12:44
Welcome
12:44
back
12:44
to
12:44
the
12:44
around
12:45
the
12:45
House
12:45
show,
12:45
the
12:45
next
12:45
generation
12:46
of
12:46
home
12:46
improvement.
12:47
I'm
12:47
Eric
12:48
G.
12:48
Thanks
12:48
for
12:48
joining
12:49
me.
12:50
If
12:50
you
12:50
want
12:50
to
12:50
find
12:50
out
12:50
more
12:51
about
12:51
us,
12:51
head
12:51
over
12:51
to
12:52
our
12:52
brand
12:52
new
12:52
website,
12:52
aroundthehouse
12:54
online.com.
12:55
we've
12:56
got
12:56
some
12:56
great
12:56
stuff
12:57
coming
12:57
out
12:57
here
12:57
on
12:58
the
12:58
website
12:58
soon,
12:59
so
12:59
stay
12:59
tuned
12:59
for
13:00
that.
13:00
We're
13:00
gonna
13:00
have
13:00
a
13:00
lot
13:01
of
13:01
fun
13:01
this
13:02
summer
13:02
with
13:02
new
13:02
projects
13:03
and
13:03
new
13:03
things
13:03
I'll
13:03
be
13:04
posting
13:04
up
13:04
over
13:04
there
13:04
as
13:05
well
13:05
as
13:05
our
13:05
YouTube
13:06
page.
13:06
And
13:06
this
13:07
hour
13:07
is
13:07
also
13:07
brought
13:08
to
13:08
you
13:08
by
13:08
our
13:08
friends
13:08
at
13:09
Monument
13:09
Grills.
13:09
If
13:10
you're
13:10
looking
13:10
for
13:10
that
13:10
brand
13:10
new
13:11
barbecue,
13:11
maybe
13:12
you
13:12
didn't
13:12
get
13:12
the
13:12
barbecue
13:12
you
13:13
wanted
13:13
for
13:13
Father's
13:13
Day.
13:14
Don't
13:15
worry,
13:15
there's
13:16
great
13:16
ones
13:16
to
13:16
be
13:16
had
13:17
out
13:17
there
13:17
and
13:17
you
13:17
can
13:17
find
13:18
them@monument
13:19
grills.com
13:20
We've
13:21
been
13:21
talking
13:21
about
13:21
outdoor
13:22
living
13:22
space
13:23
here
13:23
and
13:23
what
13:23
you
13:23
want
13:24
to
13:24
do
13:24
to
13:24
create
13:25
that.
13:25
And
13:26
so
13:26
we
13:26
were
13:26
just
13:27
talking
13:27
about
13:27
creating
13:28
a
13:28
plan
13:28
of,
13:29
okay,
13:29
what
13:29
electrical
13:30
things
13:30
do
13:31
I
13:31
need?
13:31
Am
13:31
I
13:31
going
13:31
to
13:31
have
13:31
a
13:32
stereo?
13:32
Am
13:32
I
13:32
going
13:32
to
13:32
have
13:33
all
13:33
the
13:33
different
13:34
things?
13:34
Figure
13:34
out
13:34
what
13:35
your
13:35
dream
13:35
is,
13:35
do
13:36
you
13:36
have?
13:36
And
13:36
are
13:36
you
13:36
going
13:36
to
13:37
do
13:37
outdoor
13:37
landscape
13:38
lighting?
13:39
So
13:39
figure
13:39
out
13:40
how
13:40
much
13:40
power
13:40
you're
13:40
going
13:40
to
13:40
need
13:41
and
13:41
what
13:41
are
13:41
you
13:41
going
13:41
to
13:41
bring
13:42
over
13:42
there?
13:43
Are
13:43
you
13:43
in
13:43
a
13:43
climate
13:44
where
13:44
you
13:44
wanted
13:44
to
13:45
water,
13:46
sewer,
13:46
have
13:47
a
13:47
sink
13:48
and
13:48
a
13:48
faucet
13:48
going?
13:49
Do
13:49
you
13:49
want
13:50
to
13:50
have
13:50
some
13:51
place
13:51
like
13:51
that
13:51
for
13:52
cleanup?
13:53
Well,
13:53
then
13:53
you're
13:53
going
13:53
to
13:54
make
13:54
sure
13:54
that
13:54
you've
13:55
got
13:55
the
13:55
plumbing
13:55
ready
13:56
to
13:56
rock
13:56
on
13:56
that.
13:57
Where's
13:57
that
13:57
going
13:58
to
13:58
be
13:58
coming?
13:59
And
13:59
then
13:59
of
13:59
course,
14:00
you
14:00
want
14:00
to
14:00
figure
14:01
out
14:01
what
14:01
you're
14:01
going
14:02
to
14:02
be
14:02
cooking.
14:02
If
14:02
you're
14:02
going
14:02
to
14:03
have
14:03
wood
14:04
for
14:04
a
14:05
outdoor
14:05
pizza
14:06
oven,
14:07
that's
14:07
awesome.
14:07
We're
14:07
going
14:08
to
14:08
store
14:08
the
14:08
wood.
14:09
So
14:09
you
14:09
want
14:09
to
14:09
kind
14:09
of
14:10
make
14:10
a
14:10
list
14:10
of
14:10
those
14:11
needs
14:11
you're
14:11
thinking
14:11
about.
14:12
And
14:12
the
14:12
barbecue
14:13
is
14:13
a
14:13
big
14:13
one.
14:14
Are
14:14
you
14:14
doing
14:14
propane
14:15
where
14:15
it's
14:15
more
14:15
of
14:15
a
14:16
cart,
14:16
like
14:16
something
14:17
that,
14:17
you
14:17
know,
14:17
Monument
14:18
Grills
14:18
makes,
14:18
for
14:18
instance,
14:19
or
14:19
are
14:20
you
14:20
looking
14:20
at
14:20
more
14:20
of
14:20
a
14:20
built
14:21
in
14:21
one,
14:22
like
14:22
the
14:22
natural
14:22
gas
14:23
one
14:23
that
14:23
I've
14:24
got
14:24
from
14:24
blaze,
14:25
it's
14:25
depending
14:26
on
14:26
what
14:26
you
14:26
want
14:27
to
14:27
do.
14:27
So
14:28
there's
14:28
a
14:28
lot
14:28
of
14:28
different
14:29
things
14:29
that
14:30
you
14:30
can
14:30
plan
14:30
for
14:31
there.
14:31
Whether
14:31
they're
14:32
going
14:32
charcoal,
14:32
whether
14:33
you're
14:33
going
14:33
pellet,
14:33
where
14:33
you're
14:34
going
14:34
natural
14:34
gas,
14:34
where
14:35
you're
14:35
going
14:35
propane.
14:36
How
14:36
is
14:36
that
14:36
going
14:36
to
14:37
be
14:37
done?
14:37
Because
14:37
you
14:37
want
14:37
to
14:38
figure
14:38
out
14:38
what
14:38
those
14:38
utility
14:39
needs
14:39
are.
14:40
So
14:40
when
14:40
you
14:41
build
14:41
that
14:41
deck
14:42
or
14:42
add
14:42
on
14:42
to
14:42
that
14:43
deck
14:43
or
14:43
put
14:43
a
14:43
cover
14:44
over
14:44
it,
14:45
you've
14:45
got
14:45
it
14:45
figured
14:46
out
14:46
on
14:46
what
14:46
you
14:46
want
14:46
to
14:47
do.
14:47
So
14:47
just
14:47
assess
14:48
the
14:48
needs.
14:49
The
14:49
next
14:49
thing
14:50
I
14:50
want
14:50
you
14:50
to
14:50
do
14:50
is
14:50
measure
14:51
out
14:51
the
14:51
space
14:51
that
14:51
you
14:52
want
14:52
it,
14:53
determine
14:53
all
14:54
those
14:54
dimensions
14:54
and
14:55
figure
14:55
out
14:55
the
14:55
layout
14:56
of
14:56
the
14:56
outdoor
14:57
area.
14:58
And
14:58
as
14:58
you're
14:58
doing
14:59
this,
15:00
take
15:00
a
15:00
look
15:00
and
15:00
see
15:01
what
15:01
your
15:01
local
15:01
building
15:02
codes
15:02
are
15:03
because
15:03
this
15:03
can
15:03
really
15:04
affect
15:05
what
15:05
you're
15:05
doing
15:06
for
15:06
outdoor
15:07
cooking,
15:07
outdoor
15:08
living.
15:08
Can
15:09
you
15:09
do
15:09
a
15:09
covered
15:10
patio
15:10
out
15:10
there?
15:10
What
15:11
kind
15:11
of
15:11
permits
15:11
do
15:12
you
15:12
need
15:12
for
15:12
that?
15:13
Like
15:13
in
15:14
Oregon,
15:14
where
15:14
I
15:15
live
15:15
here,
15:15
if
15:16
I
15:16
build
15:16
one
15:16
and
15:17
follow
15:17
kind
15:17
of
15:17
their
15:18
plan
15:18
on
15:18
the
15:18
website,
15:19
I
15:19
can
15:20
do
15:20
something
15:20
under
15:21
200
15:21
square
15:22
feet
15:23
if
15:23
I
15:23
do
15:23
it
15:23
correctly.
15:24
So
15:24
I
15:25
don't
15:25
need
15:25
a
15:25
permit
15:25
for
15:26
that
15:26
if
15:26
it's
15:26
attached
15:26
to
15:27
the
15:27
house.
15:28
Now
15:28
there's
15:28
a
15:29
lot
15:29
of
15:29
different
15:29
ways
15:29
to
15:29
do
15:30
that,
15:30
but
15:31
you
15:31
can
15:32
create
15:32
some
15:32
fun
15:32
spaces
15:33
without
15:33
having
15:33
to
15:33
get
15:34
knee
15:34
deep
15:34
in
15:34
the
15:34
permit
15:35
process.
15:35
Now
15:36
for
15:36
electrical,
15:37
for
15:37
gas,
15:37
for
15:38
water,
15:38
sewer,
15:39
of
15:40
course
15:40
you're
15:40
going
15:40
to
15:40
need
15:40
some
15:41
stuff
15:41
for
15:41
that
15:41
depending
15:42
on
15:42
where
15:42
you're
15:42
located.
15:43
So
15:43
understanding
15:44
what
15:44
those
15:44
codes
15:45
are
15:45
so
15:46
you
15:46
can
15:46
one,
15:46
either
15:46
get
15:47
the
15:47
right
15:47
trades
15:47
in
15:47
there
15:48
or
15:48
get
15:48
the
15:48
right
15:48
permits
15:49
pulled
15:49
so
15:50
you
15:50
can
15:50
keep
15:50
those
15:50
people
15:51
happy.
15:51
Because
15:52
these
15:52
days,
15:52
I
15:52
tell
15:53
you
15:53
what,
15:54
code
15:54
enforcement
15:55
agencies
15:55
are
15:55
getting
15:56
way
15:56
interesting
15:57
out
15:57
there.
15:58
You're
15:58
seeing
15:59
them
15:59
using
15:59
anything
16:00
from
16:00
drones
16:00
to
16:01
drive
16:01
bys
16:02
to
16:02
all
16:02
those
16:03
different
16:03
things
16:03
that
16:03
can
16:04
happen.
16:05
So
16:05
you're
16:06
seeing
16:06
projects
16:07
that
16:07
normally
16:08
wouldn't
16:08
get
16:08
red
16:08
tagged
16:09
because
16:09
maybe
16:09
they're
16:10
doing
16:10
something
16:10
and
16:10
they're
16:10
skirting
16:11
that
16:11
line.
16:12
Heck,
16:13
I've
16:13
seen
16:14
police
16:14
standoffs
16:15
over
16:15
water
16:15
heater
16:16
permits.
16:16
I
16:16
mean,
16:17
it
16:17
gets
16:17
crazy
16:18
how
16:18
this
16:18
stuff
16:19
goes.
16:19
And
16:20
the
16:20
more
16:20
you've
16:20
made
16:21
someone
16:21
mad
16:21
in
16:21
your
16:21
neighborhood,
16:23
the
16:23
more
16:23
likely
16:24
someone
16:24
is
16:24
to
16:24
report
16:25
it.
16:25
So
16:26
you
16:26
could
16:26
have
16:26
the
16:27
nicest
16:27
neighbors
16:27
in
16:28
the
16:28
world,
16:28
but
16:28
if
16:28
you
16:28
got
16:28
that
16:29
passive
16:29
aggressive
16:29
one
16:30
there
16:30
that
16:30
goes,
16:30
they're
16:31
going
16:31
to
16:31
be
16:31
partying
16:31
out
16:31
there.
16:32
We're
16:32
going
16:32
to
16:32
fix
16:32
this
16:32
right
16:32
now.
16:34
They
16:34
make
16:34
a
16:34
phone
16:35
call
16:35
into
16:35
code
16:35
enforcement
16:37
and
16:37
guess
16:37
what?
16:37
Now
16:38
you
16:38
got
16:38
somebody
16:38
knocking
16:39
on
16:39
your
16:39
door
16:39
wanting
16:39
to
16:39
do
16:39
an
16:40
inspection.
16:41
And
16:41
I've
16:41
seen
16:42
that
16:42
go
16:42
completely
16:43
sideways
16:43
for
16:44
people.
16:45
So
16:45
doing
16:45
that,
16:46
understanding
16:47
hoas,
16:48
all
16:48
that
16:48
crazy
16:49
stuff
16:49
can
16:49
really
16:50
make
16:50
your
16:50
life
16:50
easier
16:51
on
16:51
the
16:51
planning
16:52
side
16:52
of
16:52
things.
16:53
So
16:54
think
16:54
about
16:54
how
16:55
you're
16:55
gonna
16:55
design
16:55
this
16:56
space.
16:56
After
16:56
that,
16:56
you're
16:57
gonna
16:57
have
16:57
lounging,
16:57
kind
16:57
of
16:58
a
16:58
dining
16:58
thing,
16:59
entertaining.
17:00
You're
17:00
going
17:00
to
17:00
have
17:00
a
17:01
movie
17:01
wall
17:01
where
17:01
you're
17:02
going
17:02
to
17:02
use
17:02
the
17:02
side
17:02
of
17:02
your
17:02
shed
17:03
or
17:03
the
17:03
side
17:03
of
17:03
the
17:03
garage
17:04
or
17:04
something
17:04
for
17:04
doing
17:05
outdoor
17:05
movies
17:05
for
17:05
the
17:06
kids.
17:06
What
17:07
is
17:07
your
17:07
plan?
17:07
Because
17:08
you're
17:08
going
17:08
to
17:08
need
17:08
power
17:08
for
17:09
that.
17:09
You
17:09
see
17:10
where
17:10
I'm
17:10
going?
17:10
Make
17:10
sure
17:11
you've
17:11
got
17:11
that.
17:11
The
17:12
last
17:12
thing
17:12
you
17:12
want
17:12
to
17:13
do
17:13
is
17:13
have
17:13
extension
17:14
cords
17:14
running
17:14
around
17:15
your
17:15
outdoor
17:15
space.
17:17
So
17:17
the
17:17
next
17:18
step
17:18
then
17:18
is
17:18
kind
17:18
of
17:19
figuring
17:19
out
17:20
what
17:20
outdoor
17:21
features
17:22
do
17:22
you
17:22
want
17:23
to
17:23
keep.
17:23
You
17:23
have
17:23
a
17:24
little
17:24
concrete
17:24
patio
17:25
out
17:25
there
17:25
that
17:25
you're
17:25
going
17:25
to
17:25
want
17:25
to
17:25
take
17:26
out.
17:26
Is
17:26
there
17:26
a
17:26
tree
17:26
close
17:27
to
17:27
the
17:27
house
17:27
that's
17:27
in
17:28
the
17:28
way
17:28
that
17:28
you
17:28
need
17:28
to
17:28
get
17:28
rid
17:28
of?
17:29
What
17:29
pathways
17:30
are
17:30
going
17:30
to
17:30
work
17:31
and
17:31
aren't
17:31
working
17:32
now
17:32
or
17:33
going
17:33
to
17:33
work?
17:33
Then?
17:34
Do
17:34
you
17:35
have
17:35
a
17:35
pond
17:35
or
17:35
something
17:36
else?
17:36
What
17:36
is
17:37
all
17:37
going
17:37
to
17:37
work
17:37
right
17:38
there?
17:38
And
17:39
what
17:39
are
17:39
you
17:39
going
17:39
to
17:39
embrace
17:40
and
17:40
what
17:40
are
17:40
you
17:40
going
17:40
to
17:40
get
17:40
rid
17:41
of?
17:41
And
17:42
again,
17:42
with
17:42
trees,
17:43
there's
17:43
another
17:44
one.
17:44
Man,
17:44
it
17:45
can
17:45
take
17:45
two
17:45
years
17:45
in
17:46
my
17:46
neighborhood
17:46
to
17:46
take
17:46
a
17:46
tree
17:47
down.
17:48
It's
17:48
crazy.
17:49
I
17:49
got
17:49
to
17:49
go
17:49
down
17:50
to
17:50
the
17:50
city,
17:50
I
17:50
got
17:50
to
17:51
fill
17:51
out
17:51
all
17:51
these
17:51
forms,
17:52
got
17:52
to
17:52
have
17:52
an
17:52
arborist
17:53
come
17:53
out
17:53
and
17:53
take
17:53
a
17:53
look
17:54
at
17:54
it.
17:55
There's
17:55
a
17:55
public
17:55
comment
17:56
period.
17:56
I
17:57
mean,
17:57
it
17:57
gets
17:57
insane
17:58
just
17:59
to
17:59
take
17:59
a
17:59
tree
17:59
down
18:00
in
18:00
your
18:00
backyard
18:01
to
18:01
do
18:01
something.
18:02
And
18:02
I
18:02
get
18:02
trying
18:03
to,
18:03
you
18:04
know,
18:04
protect
18:04
the
18:05
forest
18:05
canopy.
18:06
I
18:06
get
18:06
it.
18:07
We've
18:07
actually
18:07
got
18:07
more
18:08
trees
18:08
in
18:08
the
18:08
Portland
18:09
area
18:09
now
18:09
than
18:09
we
18:09
did
18:09
120
18:10
years
18:10
ago.
18:11
And
18:11
if
18:11
you
18:11
go
18:11
back
18:11
and
18:11
look
18:12
at
18:12
the
18:12
pictures,
18:12
it's
18:13
hilarious.
18:13
There
18:14
weren't
18:14
any
18:14
trees
18:14
around
18:15
here,
18:15
but
18:15
now
18:15
we
18:15
got
18:15
a
18:16
ton
18:16
of
18:16
them,
18:16
so
18:16
it's
18:16
a
18:17
good
18:17
thing.
18:17
But
18:18
some
18:18
of
18:18
this
18:19
stuff
18:19
gets
18:19
absolutely
18:20
nuts.
18:20
And
18:21
this
18:21
is
18:21
something
18:21
again.
18:22
I'm
18:22
going
18:22
to
18:22
rail
18:22
on
18:23
my
18:23
city
18:23
of
18:23
Portland
18:24
that
18:24
I
18:24
live
18:24
next
18:24
to.
18:25
If
18:25
I
18:26
go
18:26
get
18:26
a
18:26
building
18:26
permit
18:27
over
18:27
there
18:27
for
18:27
a
18:27
kitchen
18:28
remodel,
18:28
they're
18:28
going
18:28
to
18:28
tell
18:28
me
18:29
where
18:29
to
18:29
plant
18:29
these
18:29
two
18:29
trees
18:30
in
18:30
my
18:30
front
18:30
yard
18:31
if
18:31
I
18:31
don't
18:31
have
18:32
enough.
18:33
And
18:33
yeah,
18:33
it's
18:33
part
18:34
of
18:34
the
18:34
permit
18:34
process.
18:35
It's
18:36
crazy.
18:36
So
18:37
understanding
18:37
that
18:38
and
18:38
then
18:39
understanding
18:39
kind
18:40
of
18:40
your.
18:40
What
18:40
I
18:41
call
18:41
your
18:41
neighborhood
18:42
is
18:43
going
18:43
on
18:43
there,
18:43
what's
18:43
the
18:44
context
18:44
of
18:44
all
18:45
of
18:45
that?
18:45
Right.
18:46
Are
18:46
you
18:46
going
18:47
to
18:47
have
18:47
this
18:48
very
18:48
old
18:49
traditional
18:49
house
18:50
and
18:50
you're
18:50
putting
18:50
in
18:50
a,
18:51
a
18:51
wild
18:51
modern
18:52
outdoor
18:52
living
18:53
space.
18:54
Make
18:54
sure
18:54
that
18:54
what
18:54
you're
18:55
doing
18:55
is
18:55
going
18:55
to
18:55
fit
18:55
the
18:55
house
18:56
in
18:56
the
18:56
neighborhood
18:56
of
18:57
what
18:57
you
18:57
got.
18:57
Just
18:58
make
18:58
sure
18:58
it
18:58
looks
18:58
good.
19:00
Make
19:00
sure
19:00
that
19:00
it
19:00
fits
19:01
architecturally.
19:02
That's
19:03
where
19:03
you
19:03
can
19:03
get
19:05
the
19:05
most
19:05
bang
19:06
for
19:06
your
19:06
buck.
19:07
So
19:07
once
19:08
you've
19:08
got
19:08
these
19:08
things
19:09
kind
19:09
of
19:09
figured
19:09
out,
19:10
this
19:10
is
19:10
where
19:11
you
19:11
either
19:11
bring
19:11
in
19:11
the
19:12
professional
19:12
design
19:13
that
19:13
out
19:13
so
19:13
they
19:14
can
19:14
draw
19:14
up
19:14
drawings,
19:15
they
19:15
can
19:15
do
19:15
a
19:15
landscape
19:16
plan
19:16
for
19:16
you.
19:17
That
19:17
is
19:18
by
19:18
far
19:18
the
19:18
most
19:19
professional
19:19
way
19:20
to
19:20
do
19:20
it
19:20
and
19:21
the
19:21
best
19:21
way
19:21
to
19:21
get
19:22
that.
19:22
Yeah,
19:22
it
19:22
can
19:22
cost
19:22
you
19:23
a
19:23
few
19:23
thousand
19:23
bucks
19:23
to
19:23
have
19:24
somebody
19:24
design
19:24
it
19:24
out,
19:25
but
19:25
then
19:25
you
19:26
can
19:26
really
19:26
figure
19:27
out
19:27
what
19:27
you
19:27
got.
19:28
And
19:28
that
19:28
plan
19:29
is
19:29
kind
19:29
of
19:29
the
19:29
biggest
19:29
key.
19:30
I
19:30
want
19:30
you
19:30
to
19:30
sit
19:31
down
19:31
and
19:31
plan
19:31
this
19:31
out,
19:32
draw
19:32
it
19:32
out,
19:32
dimensions,
19:33
measurements,
19:34
all
19:34
that
19:34
stuff.
19:35
Figure
19:35
out
19:36
what
19:36
you're
19:36
going
19:36
to
19:36
do.
19:37
That
19:37
way
19:37
you
19:38
know
19:38
where
19:38
you're
19:38
going
19:39
and
19:39
you
19:39
could
19:39
actually
19:40
go
19:40
through
19:40
and
19:40
figure
19:41
out
19:41
the
19:41
step
19:41
by
19:41
step
19:42
process.
19:43
Now,
19:43
as
19:44
you're
19:44
doing
19:44
this,
19:44
you
19:44
want
19:45
to
19:45
think
19:45
about
19:45
gathering
19:45
areas.
19:46
If
19:46
you're
19:46
doing
19:46
an
19:46
outdoor
19:47
kitchen,
19:47
people
19:47
are
19:48
going
19:48
to
19:48
stand
19:48
around
19:48
there.
19:49
Do
19:49
you
19:49
want
19:49
to
19:50
put
19:50
in
19:50
a
19:50
little
19:50
L
19:51
shaped
19:51
bar
19:51
like
19:51
I
19:52
did
19:52
at
19:52
my
19:52
house
19:53
to
19:53
keep
19:53
people
19:53
out
19:54
of
19:54
my
19:54
cooking
19:54
area,
19:55
but
19:55
still
19:55
have
19:56
them
19:56
be
19:56
part
19:56
of
19:56
the
19:56
process
19:57
to
19:57
tell
19:58
you.
19:58
Tell
19:58
you
19:58
what,
19:59
when
19:59
I'm
19:59
out
19:59
there
19:59
barbecuing,
20:00
it's
20:00
awesome.
20:01
I
20:01
got
20:01
people
20:01
lined
20:02
up
20:02
around
20:02
me.
20:03
How
20:03
do
20:03
I
20:03
control
20:04
that
20:04
space?
20:05
How
20:05
do
20:06
I
20:06
figure
20:06
out
20:07
to
20:07
get
20:07
people
20:07
away
20:08
from
20:08
my
20:08
cooking
20:09
area?
20:09
Or
20:09
if
20:10
I
20:10
want
20:10
somebody
20:10
helping,
20:11
how
20:11
do
20:11
I
20:11
have
20:11
two
20:12
people
20:12
in
20:12
that
20:12
area
20:13
but
20:13
still
20:13
give
20:13
a
20:13
place
20:14
for
20:14
people
20:14
to
20:14
sit
20:14
down?
20:15
I
20:15
can
20:15
watch
20:15
the
20:15
game
20:16
or,
20:16
or
20:16
some
20:17
music
20:17
videos
20:17
or
20:17
whatever
20:18
I'm
20:18
doing
20:18
out
20:18
there.
20:19
The
20:19
next
20:19
thing
20:20
is
20:21
figuring
20:21
out
20:21
privacy.
20:22
Do
20:22
you
20:22
want
20:23
your
20:23
neighbors
20:23
seeing
20:23
you
20:24
when
20:24
you
20:24
pop
20:24
in
20:24
the
20:24
hot
20:24
tub
20:25
at
20:25
11
20:25
o'
20:25
clock
20:25
at
20:25
night?
20:26
Maybe
20:27
not.
20:27
What
20:27
can
20:28
you
20:28
do
20:28
there
20:28
for
20:28
a
20:28
privacy
20:29
screen
20:29
to
20:29
really
20:29
make
20:30
that
20:30
look
20:30
awesome?
20:31
What
20:31
are
20:31
the
20:32
steps
20:32
to
20:32
make
20:32
that
20:32
look
20:33
great?
20:34
Now
20:34
the
20:34
next
20:35
thing
20:35
is,
20:35
is
20:36
the
20:36
comfort.
20:37
You
20:37
want
20:37
to
20:38
plan
20:38
out
20:39
where
20:39
your
20:39
furniture
20:40
is
20:40
going
20:40
to
20:40
go
20:41
after
20:41
you
20:42
get
20:42
the
20:42
structure,
20:44
everything
20:44
designed
20:44
out,
20:45
if
20:45
it's
20:46
covered,
20:46
and
20:46
I
20:47
recommend
20:47
partially
20:48
covered
20:48
for
20:48
people
20:49
out
20:49
there
20:49
that
20:49
like
20:49
to
20:49
entertain
20:50
year
20:50
round.
20:50
It
20:51
is
20:51
great.
20:51
Now
20:52
when
20:52
we
20:52
come
20:52
back,
20:52
we're
20:53
going
20:53
to
20:53
start
20:53
talking
20:53
about
20:53
using
20:54
the
20:54
right
20:54
materials
20:55
for
20:55
this.
20:55
And
20:55
this
20:55
is
20:55
a
20:55
big
20:56
one.
20:56
We'll
20:57
do
20:57
that
20:57
just
20:57
as
20:57
soon
20:58
as
20:58
around
20:58
the
20:58
House
20:58
returns.
22:40
Don't
22:40
go
22:40
anywhere
22:54
foreign.
22:58
Hey,
22:58
this
22:58
is
22:58
Ron
22:59
Keel,
22:59
the
22:59
metal
23:00
cowboy
23:00
from
23:01
Keel
23:01
the
23:01
Ron
23:02
Keel,
23:02
band
23:03
and
23:03
stealer.
23:04
We
23:04
are
23:04
rocking
23:05
around
23:05
the
23:05
house
23:06
with
23:06
Eric
23:07
G.
23:07
Raise
23:08
YOUR
23:08
fears.
23:09
Welcome
23:09
back
23:09
to
23:09
the
23:09
around
23:10
the
23:10
house
23:10
show,
23:10
the
23:11
next
23:11
generation
23:11
of
23:11
home
23:12
improvement.
23:12
I'm
23:13
Eric
23:13
G.
23:13
Thanks
23:13
for
23:14
joining
23:14
me
23:14
today.
23:14
If
23:15
you
23:15
want
23:15
to
23:15
find
23:15
out
23:15
more
23:16
about
23:16
us,
23:16
head
23:16
over
23:16
to
23:17
our
23:17
website
23:17
aroundthehouse
23:18
online.com
23:19
and
23:19
you
23:19
can
23:19
message
23:19
me
23:20
over
23:20
there
23:20
as
23:20
well.
23:21
Tell
23:21
you
23:21
what,
23:21
guys,
23:22
you
23:22
have
23:22
done
23:22
a
23:22
great
23:23
job
23:23
of
23:23
sending
23:23
me
23:24
some
23:24
wild
23:24
and
23:25
crazy
23:25
questions.
23:26
There
23:26
have
23:26
been
23:26
some
23:27
good
23:27
ones
23:28
and
23:28
there
23:28
have
23:28
been
23:28
some
23:29
that
23:29
are,
23:29
quite
23:29
frankly,
23:30
head
23:30
scratchers.
23:31
And
23:31
I'm
23:31
like,
23:31
okay,
23:32
people
23:32
are
23:32
trying
23:32
to
23:33
mess
23:33
with
23:33
me,
23:33
which
23:34
I
23:34
think
23:34
is
23:34
adorable.
23:35
So
23:35
thanks
23:36
for
23:36
all
23:36
those
23:36
wild
23:37
and
23:37
crazy
23:37
questions
23:38
and
23:38
all
23:39
the
23:39
people

24:14
well,
24:14
we've
24:14
been
24:14
talking
24:14
about
24:14
outdoor
24:15
living
24:15
spaces
24:16
today
24:16
and
24:16
really
24:17
designing
24:17
out
24:18
and
24:18
my
24:18
tricks
24:19
of
24:19
how
24:19
to
24:20
deal
24:20
with
24:20
this
24:21
now,
24:22
materials
24:22
is
24:22
a
24:23
big
24:23
part
24:23
of
24:24
this
24:24
and
24:24
this
24:25
is
24:25
where
24:25
I
24:25
really
24:26
want
24:26
you
24:26
to
24:26
think
24:26
about
24:26
what
24:27
you're
24:27
doing
24:27
for
24:27
materials.
24:29
So
24:29
for
24:29
instance,
24:29
when
24:30
it
24:30
comes
24:30
to
24:30
decking,
24:31
are
24:32
you
24:32
doing
24:33
concrete?
24:34
Do
24:34
you
24:34
have
24:34
a
24:34
concrete
24:35
pad
24:35
that
24:35
you
24:35
have
24:35
out
24:36
there?
24:36
You're
24:36
stepping
24:37
out
24:37
into
24:37
the
24:38
back
24:38
concrete
24:39
slab
24:39
and
24:39
that's
24:39
what
24:40
you
24:40
got.
24:41
Or
24:41
are
24:41
you
24:42
going
24:42
to
24:42
be
24:42
doing
24:42
tile?
24:43
Tile
24:43
is
24:44
a
24:44
big
24:44
thing
24:44
that
24:44
you
24:44
see
24:45
now.
24:45
Exterior
24:46
tile
24:46
surfaces,
24:47
even
24:47
in
24:47
frozen
24:48
areas,
24:49
you're
24:49
starting
24:49
to
24:49
see
24:49
that
24:50
as
24:50
well
24:51
as
24:51
so
24:52
many
24:52
field
24:52
stones,
24:54
all
24:54
these
24:54
different
24:55
features
24:55
out
24:55
there.
24:56
Patio
24:56
pavers.
24:57
If
24:58
you're
24:58
looking
24:59
at
24:59
a
24:59
composite
25:00
deck,
25:01
you
25:01
need
25:01
to
25:01
work
25:01
on
25:02
getting
25:02
your
25:02
masterclass
25:03
here
25:04
and
25:04
composite
25:05
decks
25:05
so
25:06
you
25:06
could
25:06
understand
25:07
what
25:07
you're
25:07
looking
25:08
for.
25:09
So
25:09
last
25:09
week
25:09
we
25:10
had
25:10
my
25:10
buddy
25:10
from
25:10
Mil
25:10
Board
25:11
on
25:11
if
25:11
you're
25:11
looking
25:12
for
25:12
something
25:13
that
25:13
looks
25:14
like
25:14
real
25:15
wood
25:16
but
25:16
isn't
25:17
going
25:17
to
25:17
be
25:17
scratching,
25:18
is
25:18
going
25:18
to
25:18
look
25:19
awesome,
25:19
that
25:19
has
25:20
a
25:20
rubberized
25:20
surface,
25:21
then
25:22
man,
25:22
I
25:22
tell
25:22
you
25:22
what,
25:23
millboard's
25:23
great.
25:24
If
25:25
you're
25:25
not
25:25
looking
25:26
for
25:26
that,
25:26
but
25:27
you're
25:27
looking
25:27
for
25:27
a
25:28
premium
25:28
deck
25:28
and
25:29
you're
25:29
out
25:29
in
25:29
the
25:29
full
25:30
sun
25:30
and
25:31
there
25:31
is
25:32
no
25:32
way
25:33
for
25:33
you
25:33
to
25:33
build
25:33
any
25:34
kind
25:34
of
25:34
a
25:34
cover.
25:35
Take
25:35
a
25:35
look
25:35
at
25:35
a
25:36
product
25:36
like
25:36
Moisture
25:36
Shield.
25:37
They
25:37
have
25:38
a
25:38
composite
25:39
decking
25:39
that
25:40
reflects
25:40
heat,
25:41
that
25:41
uses
25:41
their
25:41
cool
25:42
deck
25:42
technology
25:43
that
25:44
is
25:44
something
25:44
that
25:44
makes
25:44
that
25:45
cool
25:45
like
25:45
a
25:45
wood
25:46
deck.
25:46
And
25:47
I
25:47
tell
25:47
you
25:47
what,
25:47
these
25:48
days,
25:49
unless
25:49
you're
25:49
on
25:50
a
25:50
budget
25:50
and
25:50
you're
25:50
doing
25:50
it
25:50
as
25:50
a
25:51
DIY
25:51
project,
25:52
it
25:52
doesn't
25:53
make
25:53
sense
25:53
to
25:53
me
25:54
to
25:54
be
25:54
using
25:55
pressure
25:56
treated
25:56
type
25:56
materials
25:57
or
25:58
cedar
25:58
or
25:58
something
25:58
like
25:59
that
25:59
for
25:59
a
25:59
deck.
26:00
Unless
26:01
you
26:01
are
26:01
okay
26:02
with
26:02
going
26:02
through
26:02
and
26:03
finishing
26:03
that
26:03
every
26:04
one
26:04
to
26:05
three
26:05
years.
26:06
That's
26:06
kind
26:06
of
26:07
the
26:07
lifespan
26:07
a
26:07
lot
26:07
of
26:08
these
26:08
finishes.
26:08
So
26:09
to
26:09
me
26:10
the
26:10
composites
26:12
are
26:12
the
26:12
way
26:12
to
26:12
go.
26:13
Now
26:13
if
26:13
you
26:13
want
26:14
to
26:14
do
26:14
a
26:14
high
26:14
end
26:14
deck
26:15
and
26:15
you're
26:15
looking
26:15
at
26:16
doing
26:17
any
26:17
one
26:17
of
26:17
the
26:17
exotic
26:18
woods,
26:18
I
26:18
totally
26:19
get
26:19
it.
26:20
It's
26:20
gorgeous.
26:21
It
26:21
gives
26:21
you
26:21
that
26:22
high
26:22
end
26:22
feel.
26:23
It's
26:23
like
26:23
you're
26:24
on
26:24
an
26:24
old
26:24
20s
26:24
cruise
26:25
ship
26:25
or
26:25
something
26:25
like
26:26
that.
26:26
It
26:26
looks
26:26
gorgeous.
26:27
I
26:27
get
26:27
it.
26:27
Nothing
26:27
wrong
26:28
with
26:28
that.
26:28
But
26:29
yeah,
26:29
you
26:29
are
26:29
going
26:29
to
26:30
pay
26:30
a
26:30
premium
26:32
for
26:32
any
26:32
of
26:32
those
26:32
exotic
26:33
woods,
26:33
especially
26:33
what
26:34
you're
26:34
seeing
26:35
with
26:36
prices
26:36
out
26:36
there.
26:37
I
26:37
mean,
26:37
cedar
26:37
is
26:38
ridiculously
26:38
expensive
26:39
out
26:39
there.
26:40
You
26:40
know,
26:40
I
26:40
went
26:40
to
26:41
go
26:41
buy
26:41
some
26:41
cedar
26:41
shingles
26:42
for
26:42
a
26:42
beach
26:42
house
26:42
with
26:43
my
26:43
brother
26:44
and
26:45
you
26:45
can
26:45
spend
26:46
500
26:46
bucks
26:46
a
26:47
square
26:47
on
26:47
that
26:47
stuff
26:48
and
26:49
it's
26:49
insane
26:50
with
26:50
the
26:50
prices
26:50
out
26:51
there.
26:51
So
26:52
be
26:52
careful
26:52
when
26:52
you're
26:53
looking
26:53
at
26:53
those
26:53
material
26:53
prices
26:55
now.
26:55
There
26:55
are
26:55
so
26:56
many
26:56
ways
26:56
when
26:56
you're
26:57
building
26:57
a
26:57
deck
26:57
too.
26:57
We've
26:58
talked
26:58
about
26:58
this
26:58
in
26:58
the
26:58
past,
26:59
but
27:00
understand
27:00
if
27:01
you're
27:01
building
27:01
a
27:01
new
27:02
deck
27:02
out
27:02
there
27:02
as
27:03
part
27:03
of
27:03
it,
27:03
plan
27:04
your
27:04
cover
27:04
out
27:04
first
27:05
and
27:05
then
27:05
build
27:05
your
27:05
deck
27:06
around
27:06
that
27:07
because
27:07
you're
27:07
going
27:07
to
27:07
want
27:08
that
27:08
to
27:08
go
27:08
all
27:08
the
27:08
way
27:08
down
27:09
to
27:09
the
27:09
ground.
27:10
Make
27:10
sure
27:10
that's
27:11
going
27:11
down
27:11
and
27:11
then
27:11
build
27:12
your
27:12
deck
27:12
as
27:12
part
27:12
of
27:13
that
27:13
structure.
27:13
Plan
27:13
it
27:14
together
27:14
and
27:15
if
27:15
you're
27:15
off,
27:15
if
27:16
you're
27:16
18
27:16
inches
27:17
or
27:17
above,
27:17
I
27:17
would
27:18
take
27:18
a
27:18
look
27:18
at
27:18
doing
27:20
some
27:20
kind
27:20
of
27:20
railing
27:21
code.
27:21
Probably
27:21
tells
27:21
you
27:22
in
27:22
your
27:22
area
27:22
30
27:22
inches.
27:23
But
27:23
I
27:24
think
27:24
it's
27:24
super
27:24
important
27:25
to
27:25
look
27:25
at
27:25
it
27:25
and
27:25
go,
27:26
okay,
27:27
let's
27:27
plan
27:27
a
27:27
railing
27:28
around
27:28
here
27:28
for
27:28
the
27:28
safety
27:29
of
27:29
the
27:29
people
27:29
we're
27:29
doing
27:30
and
27:30
to
27:30
control
27:30
where
27:30
people
27:31
are
27:31
going
27:31
to
27:31
be
27:31
jumping
27:31
off
27:32
and
27:32
on
27:32
the
27:32
deck.
27:33
But
27:34
when
27:34
you're
27:35
designing
27:35
that
27:35
deck,
27:36
what
27:36
materials
27:37
you're
27:37
going
27:37
to
27:37
use
27:37
down
27:37
underneath
27:38
it.
27:38
One
27:38
of
27:38
the
27:38
issues
27:39
we
27:39
have
27:39
today
27:40
when
27:40
it
27:40
comes
27:40
to
27:41
a
27:41
deck
27:41
that's
27:41
going
27:41
to
27:41
get
27:42
wet
27:42
in
27:43
many
27:43
places
27:43
in
27:43
the
27:44
country,
27:44
especially
27:44
if
27:44
you've
27:45
got
27:45
tree
27:45
cover,
27:46
things
27:46
like
27:46
that.
27:47
What
27:47
are
27:47
you
27:47
going
27:48
to
27:48
be
27:48
doing
27:48
to
27:48
protect
27:49
that?
27:49
Because
27:50
the
27:50
problem
27:50
is
27:50
you
27:51
can
27:51
put
27:51
20,
27:51
30,
27:52
40
27:52
year,
27:52
even
27:53
50
27:53
year
27:53
composite
27:54
decking
27:54
down,
27:55
but
27:55
you've
27:56
got
27:56
a
27:56
pressure
27:57
treated
27:57
system
27:57
underneath
27:58
it
27:58
that
27:58
might
27:58
last
27:59
15
27:59
years.
28:00
If
28:00
you're
28:01
in
28:01
a
28:01
harsh
28:01
climate,
28:02
you're
28:02
gonna
28:02
go
28:02
steel,
28:03
you
28:03
know,
28:03
aluminum.
28:04
You're
28:05
gonna
28:05
use
28:05
joist
28:05
tape
28:06
to
28:06
make
28:06
sure
28:06
and
28:06
protect
28:07
all
28:07
that
28:07
stuff.
28:07
You're
28:08
flashing
28:08
it
28:08
correctly.
28:09
There
28:09
is
28:10
a
28:10
lot
28:10
of
28:10
science,
28:11
a
28:11
lot
28:11
of
28:12
building
28:12
science
28:13
in
28:13
flashing
28:14
and
28:14
building
28:14
a
28:14
deck
28:14
correctly
28:15
these
28:15
days.
28:16
And
28:16
I
28:16
see
28:17
so
28:17
many
28:17
huge
28:17
mistakes
28:19
online
28:20
when
28:20
people
28:20
are
28:20
like,
28:21
hey,
28:21
I've
28:21
got
28:21
this
28:21
deck.
28:22
Wow.
28:23
Make
28:23
sure
28:23
that
28:23
you've
28:24
designed
28:24
that
28:24
deck
28:25
professionally.
28:27
Have
28:27
somebody
28:28
make
28:28
sure
28:28
that
28:28
you're
28:28
building
28:29
it
28:29
correctly.
28:29
Make
28:30
sure
28:30
that
28:30
the
28:30
spans
28:31
right,
28:31
make
28:32
sure
28:32
that
28:32
you've
28:32
got
28:32
the
28:33
beams
28:33
right.
28:33
You're
28:33
not
28:34
just
28:34
throwing
28:35
a
28:35
couple
28:35
two
28:35
by
28:35
twelves
28:36
up
28:36
there
28:36
and
28:36
everything's
28:37
rocking
28:37
and
28:37
rolling
28:38
and
28:38
you
28:38
got
28:38
a
28:38
hot
28:38
mess
28:38
going.
28:40
Make
28:40
sure
28:40
that
28:40
you're
28:41
building
28:41
it
28:41
correctly.
28:42
And
28:42
if
28:42
it's
28:43
above
28:43
your
28:43
skill
28:44
level,
28:44
that's
28:44
okay.
28:45
Bring
28:46
the
28:46
professional
28:46
in
28:47
to
28:47
knock
28:47
it
28:48
out.
28:48
Because
28:49
you
28:49
want
28:49
to
28:49
build
28:49
it
28:49
once
28:50
and
28:50
build
28:50
it
28:50
right.
28:50
If
28:50
you're
28:51
putting
28:51
a
28:51
hot
28:51
tub
28:51
up
28:52
on
28:52
it,
28:53
did
28:53
you
28:53
engineer
28:54
that
28:54
for
28:54
the
28:54
hot
28:54
tub?
28:55
Because
28:55
you
28:55
can
28:56
be
28:56
putting
28:56
thousands
28:57
of
28:57
pounds
28:57
up
28:57
there.
28:58
Just
28:58
search
28:59
online
28:59
hot
28:59
tub
29:00
deck
29:00
collapse.
29:00
You'll
29:01
see
29:01
crazy
29:02
pictures
29:03
of
29:03
people
29:04
putting
29:04
hot
29:04
tubs
29:05
up
29:05
on
29:05
decks
29:06
that
29:06
shouldn't
29:06
have
29:06
had
29:07
that
29:07
happen.
29:07
Now,
29:08
I
29:08
will
29:08
say
29:08
one
29:09
thing
29:09
here.
29:10
If
29:10
our
29:10
steel
29:11
prices
29:12
are
29:12
going
29:12
to
29:12
come
29:12
down
29:13
significantly
29:15
with
29:15
the
29:15
whole
29:15
new
29:15
tariff
29:16
situation,
29:16
if
29:17
we've
29:17
got
29:17
that
29:17
figured
29:17
out,
29:18
that
29:18
could
29:19
make
29:20
with
29:20
lumber
29:20
prices
29:21
and
29:21
stuff
29:21
right
29:21
now
29:21
and
29:21
our
29:22
building
29:22
material
29:22
costs,
29:23
that
29:23
could
29:24
make
29:24
something
29:24
be
29:25
very
29:25
different
29:25
and
29:25
much
29:26
more
29:26
affordable.
29:27
Looking
29:27
at
29:28
some
29:28
of
29:28
these
29:28
new
29:28
steel
29:29
and
29:29
aluminum
29:29
decking
29:30
systems
29:30
out
29:30
there
29:30
that
29:31
go
29:31
underneath
29:31
the
29:31
deck.
29:32
So
29:32
take
29:32
a
29:33
peek
29:33
at
29:33
that.
29:34
Sometimes
29:35
we
29:35
hit
29:35
a
29:35
point
29:35
where
29:36
it
29:36
was
29:36
that
29:37
way
29:37
during
29:37
COVID
29:37
that
29:38
you
29:38
weren't
29:38
paying
29:38
any
29:38
more
29:39
for
29:39
a
29:40
steel
29:40
decking
29:40
system
29:41
as
29:41
far
29:42
as
29:42
the
29:42
supports
29:42
and
29:42
the
29:43
structure
29:43
than
29:43
you
29:43
were
29:43
for
29:44
wood
29:44
because
29:45
it
29:45
was
29:45
that
29:45
crazy
29:46
of
29:46
a
29:46
price.
29:47
So
29:47
do
29:47
your
29:47
research,
29:48
figure
29:48
it
29:48
out,
29:48
design
29:49
it
29:49
out
29:49
and
29:49
see
29:50
what's
29:50
going
29:50
to
29:50
work
29:50
best
29:51
for
29:51
your
29:51
budget
29:52
and
29:52
what's
29:53
going
29:53
to
29:53
be
29:53
the
29:53
most
29:53
durable
29:54
for
29:54
you.
29:54
Because
29:55
that's
29:55
a
29:55
big
29:55
one
29:55
right
29:55
there.
29:56
What's
29:56
going
29:56
to
29:57
be
29:57
the
29:57
best
29:57
fit
29:57
for
29:57
you
29:58
and
29:58
your
29:58
project.
29:59
Now
29:59
the
29:59
next
30:00
one
30:00
here
30:00
is
30:00
a
30:00
big
30:01
one.
30:01
It
30:01
is
30:02
talking
30:02
about
30:03
Budget.
30:03
What
30:04
are
30:04
you
30:04
going
30:04
to
30:04
do
30:04
to
30:04
create
30:05
a
30:05
budget?
30:06
How
30:06
are
30:06
you
30:06
going
30:06
to
30:06
figure
30:06
this
30:07
out?
30:08
Well,
30:08
the
30:08
only
30:08
real
30:09
way
30:09
to
30:09
figure
30:09
out
30:09
your
30:10
budget
30:10
is
30:11
to
30:11
create
30:11
that
30:11
plan.
30:12
Figure
30:13
out
30:13
your
30:13
materials
30:14
list
30:14
so
30:15
you
30:15
can
30:15
then
30:15
price
30:16
it
30:16
out.
30:16
Now,
30:17
if
30:17
you're
30:17
hiring
30:17
a
30:17
company
30:18
to
30:18
come
30:18
in,
30:18
you're
30:18
going
30:18
to
30:18
get
30:19
quotes.
30:19
You
30:19
want
30:19
to
30:20
design
30:20
it
30:20
out,
30:21
have
30:21
two
30:21
or
30:21
three
30:21
different
30:22
quotes
30:22
on
30:22
the
30:22
same
30:23
project
30:23
so
30:24
you
30:24
can
30:24
compare
30:25
apples
30:25
to
30:26
apples
30:26
on
30:26
this.
30:27
The
30:27
biggest
30:27
mistake
30:28
I
30:28
see
30:28
people
30:28
when
30:28
they're
30:29
hiring
30:29
out
30:29
a
30:29
project
30:30
is
30:30
they
30:31
don't
30:31
hire
30:31
the
30:31
designer
30:32
and
30:32
design
30:32
it
30:32
out.
30:33
What
30:33
they
30:33
do
30:34
is
30:34
they
30:34
hire
30:34
three
30:35
different
30:35
companies
30:36
to
30:36
come
30:36
over
30:36
and
30:36
give
30:36
them
30:37
estimates.
30:37
There's
30:38
three
30:38
different
30:38
designs
30:39
with
30:39
three
30:39
different
30:39
prices,
30:40
and
30:40
nobody
30:41
has
30:41
anything
30:41
to
30:41
compare
30:42
apples
30:42
to
30:42
oranges
30:43
with.
30:43
So
30:44
you
30:44
want
30:44
to
30:44
come
30:44
up
30:44
with
30:44
a
30:45
plan
30:45
first,
30:46
then
30:46
send
30:47
that
30:47
out
30:47
to
30:47
bid,
30:48
take
30:49
their
30:49
suggestions
30:50
and
30:50
see
30:50
who's
30:51
going
30:51
to
30:51
be
30:51
the
30:51
best.
30:52
Fit
30:52
your
30:52
prop
30:52
for
30:53
your
30:53
project.
30:54
And
30:54
that's
30:54
the
30:54
right
30:55
way
30:55
to
30:55
do
30:55
that.
30:56
But
30:56
to
30:57
have
30:57
that
30:57
budget,
30:57
you
30:58
got
30:58
to
30:58
do
30:58
the
30:58
math.
30:59
Go
30:59
figure
31:00
it
31:00
out.
31:00
So
31:00
you
31:00
almost
31:00
want
31:01
to
31:01
do
31:01
a
31:01
virtual
31:01
install.
31:03
Okay,
31:03
what's
31:04
the
31:04
first
31:04
thing
31:04
I'm
31:04
going
31:04
to
31:04
do
31:05
to
31:05
build
31:05
a
31:05
deck?
31:05
All
31:05
right,
31:06
I'm
31:06
going
31:06
to
31:06
plan
31:06
it
31:06
out.
31:06
Where
31:07
are
31:07
my
31:07
posts
31:07
going
31:07
to
31:08
go?
31:08
Okay,
31:09
I'm
31:09
going
31:09
to
31:09
need
31:09
concrete.
31:09
How
31:10
much
31:10
concrete?
31:11
All
31:11
right,
31:12
what
31:12
kind
31:12
of
31:12
brackets
31:13
am
31:13
I
31:13
going
31:13
to
31:13
need
31:13
there?
31:14
Okay,
31:14
I'm
31:14
going
31:14
to
31:14
need
31:14
these
31:15
post
31:15
brackets
31:16
going
31:16
to
31:16
the
31:16
concrete.
31:17
Maybe
31:18
a
31:18
post
31:18
protector
31:19
if
31:19
I'm
31:19
going
31:19
into
31:19
the
31:19
concrete.
31:20
Depending
31:20
on
31:20
what
31:21
your
31:21
building
31:21
code
31:21
says.
31:22
And
31:22
yes,
31:22
this
31:22
is
31:22
where
31:22
you
31:22
want
31:23
to
31:23
make
31:23
sure
31:23
and
31:23
get
31:23
that
31:23
involved.
31:25
Next
31:25
up,
31:25
then
31:25
you're
31:26
gonna
31:26
go,
31:26
okay,
31:26
that's
31:26
gonna
31:26
go
31:26
up.
31:27
I
31:27
need
31:27
a
31:27
beam
31:27
going
31:27
across
31:28
there.
31:28
Maybe
31:28
the
31:28
decking
31:29
and
31:29
the
31:29
framing
31:29
and
31:29
all
31:30
that
31:30
stuff.
31:30
What
31:31
I'm
31:31
gonna
31:31
do
31:31
for
31:31
railings,
31:33
how's
31:33
that
31:33
gonna
31:33
work?
31:34
So
31:35
go
31:35
through
31:35
this
31:35
process
31:36
and
31:37
understand
31:37
the
31:37
materials
31:38
and
31:38
almost
31:39
do
31:39
a
31:39
virtual
31:40
install
31:40
in
31:40
your
31:40
head.
31:41
Okay.
31:42
If
31:42
you've
31:42
built
31:42
a
31:43
deck
31:43
once
31:43
before,
31:43
you'll
31:44
understand
31:44
what
31:44
I'm
31:44
talking
31:45
about.
31:45
What
31:45
am
31:45
I
31:45
gonna
31:45
need
31:46
for
31:46
fasteners?
31:47
Make
31:47
sure
31:47
you're
31:48
using
31:48
some
31:48
of
31:48
the
31:48
good
31:48
coated
31:49
fasteners
31:49
out
31:49
there
31:50
that
31:50
are
31:50
meant
31:50
for
31:51
for
31:51
it.
31:51
And
31:51
if
31:51
you're
31:52
building
31:52
on
31:52
a
31:52
coastal
31:53
area
31:54
close
31:55
to
31:55
the
31:55
beach,
31:56
close
31:56
to
31:56
saltwater,
31:57
make
31:57
sure
31:57
you're
31:58
using
31:58
all
31:58
those
31:58
stainless
31:59
fasteners
31:59
and
31:59
you're
31:59
using
32:00
products
32:00
that
32:00
are
32:00
going
32:00
to
32:00
hold
32:00
up
32:01
to
32:01
that
32:01
environment,
32:03
because
32:03
those
32:03
galvanized
32:04
won't
32:05
do
32:05
very
32:05
well.
32:06
Even
32:06
your
32:06
brackets
32:07
underneath
32:08
can
32:08
really
32:08
start
32:09
to
32:09
come
32:09
across
32:10
pretty
32:10
poorly.
32:10
After
32:11
a
32:11
handful
32:11
of
32:11
years
32:12
if
32:12
you're
32:12
not
32:12
doing
32:12
it
32:13
correctly.
32:13
And
32:14
yes,
32:14
you
32:14
can
32:14
order
32:15
in
32:15
brackets
32:15
at
32:16
times
32:16
that
32:16
have
32:16
more
32:16
galvanized
32:17
on
32:17
them.
32:19
And
32:19
if
32:19
you
32:19
have
32:19
an
32:19
extreme
32:20
use
32:20
thing,
32:20
talk
32:21
to
32:21
your
32:21
lumberyard
32:22
or
32:23
one
32:23
of
32:23
the
32:24
bracket
32:24
companies
32:24
to
32:24
see
32:25
if
32:25
they've
32:25
got
32:25
a
32:25
better
32:26
system.
32:26
That's
32:27
not
32:27
just
32:27
your
32:27
off
32:28
the
32:28
shelf
32:28
product,
32:29
it's
32:29
your
32:29
home
32:29
center.
32:30
Now
32:30
when
32:31
we
32:31
come
32:31
back,
32:31
we're
32:31
going
32:31
to
32:31
talk
32:32
about
32:33
the
32:33
rest
32:33
of
32:33
keeping
32:34
this
32:34
on
32:34
budget
32:35
and
32:35
of
32:35
course,
32:36
some
32:36
of
32:37
the
32:37
tricks
32:37
that
32:37
you
32:37
can
32:37
do
32:37
to
32:37
make
32:38
this
32:38
easier
32:38
to
32:39
maintain.
32:39
We'll
32:39
do
32:39
that
32:39
just
32:40
as
32:40
soon
32:40
as
32:40
around
32:40
the
32:40
House
32:41
returns.
32:41
Don't
32:42
go
32:42
anywhere.
34:17
All
34:18
right.
34:27
Welcome
34:28
back
34:28
to
34:28
the
34:28
AROUND
34:28
the
34:28
HOUSE
34:28
show,
34:29
the
34:29
next
34:29
generation
34:30
of
34:30
home
34:30
improvement.
34:31
I'm
34:31
Eric
34:31
G.
34:31
Thanks
34:32
for
34:32
joining
34:32
me
34:32
today.
34:33
To

34:38

34:38

34:39
Take
34:39
a
34:40
look
34:40
at
34:40
our
34:40
closed
34:40
group,
34:41
around
34:41
the
34:41
House
34:41
Nation.
34:42
We've
34:43
got
34:43
a
34:43
great
34:43
group
34:43
there
34:44
that
34:44
shares
34:45
up
34:45
projects,
34:45
things
34:46
we're
34:46
working
34:46
on,
34:46
all
34:46
that
34:47
sorts
34:47
of
34:47
good
34:48
stuff.
34:49
Now
34:49
this
34:49
hour
34:49
is
34:49
brought
34:50
to
34:50
you
34:50
by
34:50
our
34:50

34:56

34:57
you
34:57
want
34:57
to
34:57
save
34:57
some
34:57
money
34:58
and
34:58
get
34:59
some
34:59
quality,
34:59
check
35:00
them
35:00
out@montymcgrills.com
35:01
we've
35:02
been
35:02
talking
35:02
about
35:03
designing
35:04
that
35:04
outdoor
35:05
space.
35:06
But
35:06
before
35:07
I
35:07
do
35:07
that,
35:07
before
35:08
we
35:08
kind
35:08
of
35:08
wrap
35:09
this
35:09
up,
35:09
I
35:10
do
35:10
want
35:10
to
35:10
say
35:10
thank
35:11
you
35:11
to
35:11
all
35:11
of
35:11
you
35:11
out
35:11
there
35:12
that
35:12
have
35:12
been
35:12
watching
35:13
on
35:13
the
35:14
television
35:14
show,
35:14
the
35:15
around
35:15
the
35:15
House
35:16
Northwest
35:17
television
35:18
show
35:18
that
35:19
is
35:19
rounding
35:19
up.
35:20
We
35:20
are
35:20
rounding
35:20
up
35:20
the
35:21
end
35:21
of
35:21
our
35:21
third
35:21
season
35:21
here.
35:22
And
35:22
I
35:22
want
35:23
to
35:23
thank
35:23
everybody
35:24
for
35:24
tuning
35:24
in.
35:24
We
35:24
are
35:25
working
35:25
on
35:26
a
35:26
new
35:26
home
35:27
for
35:27
that
35:27
because
35:27
I
35:27
want
35:28
to
35:28
expand
35:28
that
35:28
out
35:28
and
35:29
get
35:29
it
35:29
out
35:29
nationally.
35:30
So
35:30
we
35:30
will
35:31
be
35:31
having
35:31
a
35:31
new
35:31
home
35:32
for
35:32
that.
35:32
And
35:32
we're
35:32
working
35:33
on
35:33
putting
35:33
together
35:33
a
35:34
program
35:34
for
35:34
that
35:34
right
35:35
now
35:35
that
35:35
will
35:36
take
35:36
a
35:36
little
35:36
bit.
35:37
But
35:38
if
35:38
you
35:38
want
35:38
to
35:39
catch
35:39
more
35:39
video
35:39
content,
35:40
just
35:41
head
35:41
over
35:41
to
35:41
our
35:41
website
35:42
aroundthehouse
35:42
online.com
35:43
and
35:43
you
35:43
can
35:44
take
35:44
a
35:44
look
35:45
at
35:45
our
35:45
YouTube
35:45
channel.
35:46
We're
35:46
going
35:46
to
35:46
be
35:46
doing
35:47
a
35:47
lot
35:47
more
35:47
video
35:47
work
35:48
over
35:48
there
35:48
now
35:48
that
35:48
I'm
35:49
not
35:49
doing
35:49
production
35:49
of
35:49
the
35:50
television
35:50
show
35:50
for
35:50
the
35:50
next
35:51
short
35:51
time.
35:52
So
35:52
make
35:52
sure
35:53
and
35:53
tune
35:53
in
35:54
over
35:54
there
35:55
as
35:55
well
35:56
as
35:56
make
35:56
sure
35:56
you're
35:57
following
35:57
us
35:57
on
35:57
social
35:57
media.
35:58
We
35:58
got
35:58
so
35:58
much
35:58
stuff
35:59
going
35:59
on.
35:59
I'm
36:00
going
36:00
to
36:00
be
36:00
doing
36:00
some
36:00
more
36:01
live
36:01
things
36:01
as
36:01
well
36:02
in
36:02
the
36:02
future.
36:02
So
36:02
we're
36:02
going
36:03
to
36:03
have
36:03
a
36:03
lot
36:03
of
36:03
fun
36:03
with
36:03
that
36:04
if
36:04
you're
36:05
one
36:05
of
36:05
the
36:05
many
36:05
people
36:06
out
36:06
there
36:06
tuning
36:06
us
36:07
on
36:07
the
36:07
radio,
36:08
you're
36:08
catching
36:08
us
36:08
on
36:09
your
36:09
local
36:09
AM
36:10
FM
36:10
station.
36:11
Thanks
36:11
for
36:11
tuning
36:11
into
36:12
us
36:12
here
36:12
on
36:12
the
36:12
Talk
36:12
Media
36:13
Network.
36:13
I
36:14
appreciate
36:14
all
36:14
of
36:15
you.
36:15
If
36:15
during
36:16
the
36:16
week
36:16
you
36:16
want
36:16
to
36:16
catch
36:17
on
36:17
some
36:17
of
36:17
the
36:17
shows
36:17
you
36:18
missed,
36:18
don't
36:18
worry.
36:19
Just
36:19
look
36:19
for
36:19
the
36:20
around
36:20
the
36:20
house
36:20
show
36:21
on
36:21
your
36:21
favorite
36:22
podcast
36:22
player.
36:23
Whether
36:24
you've
36:24
got
36:24
Apple,
36:25
where
36:25
you're
36:26
listening
36:26
to
36:26
it
36:26
on
36:27
the
36:27
Apple
36:27
podcasts,
36:28
Spotify,
36:29
I
36:29
heart
36:30
any
36:30
one
36:30
of
36:30
those
36:30
different
36:32
players
36:32
out
36:33
there
36:33
that
36:33
play
36:34
music
36:34
usually
36:35
have
36:35
podcasts
36:35
as
36:36
well.
36:36
So
36:36
just
36:36
search
36:36
up
36:37
the
36:37
around
36:37
the
36:37
House
36:38
show
36:38
and
36:38
you'll
36:38
find
36:39
me
36:39
there.
36:40
I
36:40
mean,
36:40
we're
36:40
up
36:40
to
36:40
2,000
36:41
episodes.
36:42
We've
36:42
only
36:42
got
36:42
about
36:43
300
36:43
that
36:44
we
36:44
put
36:44
up
36:44
on
36:44
Apple.
36:45
But
36:45
if
36:46
you
36:46
are
36:46
one
36:46
of
36:46
our
36:46
insiders,
36:47
you
36:47
can
36:47
listen
36:48
to
36:48
probably
36:48
another
36:49
7
36:49
or
36:49
800
36:50
on
36:50
our
36:51
website
36:51
where
36:51
you
36:51
get
36:52
exclusive
36:52
access
36:52
to
36:53
those
36:53
older
36:53
ones,
36:54
which
36:54
is
36:54
always
36:55
a
36:55
lot
36:55
of
36:55
fun.
36:56
All
36:56
right,
36:56
guys.
36:56
Well,
36:57
we've
36:57
been
36:57
talking
36:57
here
36:57
about
36:59
outdoor
36:59
living
36:59
spaces,
37:00
designing
37:00
them,
37:01
getting
37:01
them
37:01
dialed
37:02
in,
37:02
making
37:02
sure
37:02
that
37:03
you've
37:03
got
37:03
it
37:04
ready
37:04
to
37:04
go
37:04
so
37:05
you
37:05
can
37:05
enjoy
37:05
that
37:06
added
37:06
space
37:06
outdoors.
37:08
Now,
37:08
we
37:08
were
37:09
talking
37:09
about
37:09
creating
37:09
a
37:10
budget,
37:10
making
37:11
sure
37:11
that
37:11
we
37:11
prioritize
37:12
all
37:12
those
37:12
different
37:13
things.
37:14
This
37:14
is
37:14
where
37:14
you
37:15
need
37:15
to
37:15
figure
37:15
out
37:15
what
37:16
you
37:16
want
37:16
to
37:16
hire
37:16
and
37:17
what
37:17
you
37:17
want
37:17
to
37:17
do
37:17
yourself.
37:18
DIY
37:19
options
37:19
are
37:20
great
37:20
for
37:21
many
37:21
different
37:21
projects,
37:22
but
37:23
if
37:23
you've
37:23
never
37:23
built
37:24
a
37:24
deck
37:24
before
37:25
and
37:25
you're
37:25
going
37:25
to
37:25
build
37:25
your
37:26
own
37:26
and
37:27
you're
37:27
going
37:27
to
37:27
build
37:27
an
37:27
elevated
37:28
deck
37:28
that's
37:28
maybe
37:29
over
37:29
two
37:29
or
37:29
three
37:29
feet
37:30
high,
37:30
you've
37:31
got
37:31
to
37:31
really
37:32
pay
37:32
attention
37:33
and
37:33
do
37:33
a
37:33
lot
37:33
of
37:34
research.
37:34
You
37:34
understand
37:35
how
37:35
to
37:35
build
37:36
that
37:36
deck
37:37
and
37:37
how
37:37
to
37:37
flash
37:38
it
37:38
correctly.
37:39
Now,
37:39
one
37:39
of
37:39
my
37:39
favorite
37:40
resources
37:40
are
37:41
my
37:41
friends
37:41
over
37:41
at
37:41
Fine
37:42
Home
37:42
Building
37:42
Go
37:42
on
37:42
their
37:43
website.
37:43
They
37:44
have
37:44
some
37:44
great
37:45
videos
37:45
on
37:45
it
37:46
with
37:46
Mike
37:46
Gurton,
37:47
a
37:47
buddy
37:47
of
37:47
mine.
37:47
He
37:48
is
37:48
one
37:48
of
37:48
the
37:48
masters
37:49
of
37:50
doing
37:50
a
37:50
deck
37:51
correctly
37:52
and
37:52
attaching
37:53
it
37:53
to
37:53
the
37:54
home
37:54
correctly,
37:54
flashing
37:55
it
37:55
correctly.
37:56
It's
37:56
one
37:56
of
37:56
the
37:56
biggest
37:57
problems
37:57
we
37:57
see
37:57
with
37:57
decks
37:58
and
37:58
deck
37:58
failures
37:59
is
37:59
that
37:59
part
38:00
where
38:00
that
38:00
ledger
38:00
board
38:01
is
38:01
attached
38:01
to
38:01
the
38:01
house.
38:02
So
38:03
you
38:03
want
38:03
to
38:03
make
38:03
sure
38:03
that
38:03
that
38:04
is
38:04
screwed
38:05
using
38:06
lag
38:06
bolts
38:07
or
38:07
structural
38:08
fasteners
38:09
into
38:09
the
38:10
framing
38:10
of
38:10
the
38:10
house
38:11
as
38:12
well
38:12
as
38:12
the
38:12
different
38:13
weatherproofing
38:14
between
38:14
those
38:14
two
38:14
points
38:15
so
38:15
you
38:15
don't
38:16
get
38:16
water
38:16
following
38:17
it
38:17
in.
38:18
And
38:18
that
38:18
can
38:18
be
38:18
a
38:19
huge
38:19
issue
38:19
when
38:20
it
38:20
comes
38:20
to
38:20
decks.
38:21
So
38:21
make
38:21
sure
38:22
that
38:22
you've
38:22
got
38:22
that
38:23
done
38:23
correctly.
38:24
That
38:24
is
38:24
a
38:24
big
38:25
safety
38:25
issue.
38:26
It's
38:26
just
38:26
as
38:27
important
38:27
as
38:27
getting
38:28
handrails
38:28
and
38:28
steps
38:29
and
38:29
those
38:29
kind
38:29
of
38:29
things.
38:30
So
38:31
know
38:31
your,
38:31
what
38:31
your
38:32
limitations
38:32
are
38:33
and
38:33
what
38:33
you're
38:33
good
38:33
at
38:34
and
38:34
what
38:34
you're
38:34
not.
38:35
Hire
38:35
the
38:35
ones.
38:36
Maybe
38:36
you
38:36
need
38:36
that
38:36
electrician
38:37
to
38:37
come
38:37
out
38:37
to
38:38
run
38:38
some
38:38
circuits,
38:38
maybe
38:39
need
38:39
the
38:39
plumber
38:39
to
38:40
put
38:40
the
38:40
plumbing
38:40
in
38:40
for
38:40
you
38:41
do
38:41
that
38:42
early
38:42
on
38:42
so
38:42
at
38:43
least
38:43
it's
38:43
roughed
38:43
in
38:44
so
38:44
you
38:44
got
38:44
the
38:44
options
38:45
for
38:45
later.
38:46
Now
38:46
one
38:47
of
38:47
the
38:47
most
38:47
important
38:47
things
38:48
that
38:48
people
38:48
forget
38:49
to
38:49
design
38:49
for
38:50
is
38:51
maintenance
38:51
and
38:51
cleaning.
38:52
This
38:52
is
38:53
a
38:53
big
38:53
one.
38:53
Think
38:54
about
38:54
it.
38:54
If
38:54
you're
38:55
building
38:55
a
38:55
composite
38:56
deck
38:57
and
38:57
maybe
38:57
you
38:58
got
38:58
it's
38:59
raised
38:59
up
38:59
off
39:00
the
39:00
second
39:00
floor
39:00
of
39:00
the
39:00
house,
39:01
do
39:02
you
39:02
want
39:02
to
39:02
make
39:02
sure,
39:02
do
39:03
you
39:03
want
39:03
to
39:03
have
39:03
it
39:03
so
39:03
it's
39:03
waterproof
39:04
underneath
39:04
that
39:04
so
39:05
you
39:05
can
39:05
store
39:05
things
39:05
down
39:05
there,
39:06
or
39:06
is
39:06
that
39:06
another
39:06
lower
39:07
deck
39:07
space?
39:08
So
39:08
think
39:09
about
39:09
how
39:09
you
39:09
want
39:10
this
39:10
to
39:10
go.
39:11
Some
39:11
of
39:11
the
39:11
issues
39:11
that
39:12
you
39:12
run
39:12
into
39:12
maintenance
39:12
is
39:13
if
39:13
you've
39:13
got
39:13
like
39:13
me,
39:14
where
39:14
I've
39:14
got
39:14
big
39:14
fir
39:15
trees,
39:15
I'm
39:15
living
39:15
in
39:16
a
39:16
freaking
39:16
forest.
39:17
I
39:17
want
39:17
to
39:17
have
39:18
maybe
39:18
a
39:18
little
39:18
bit
39:19
bigger
39:19
gap
39:19
between
39:20
those
39:20
deck
39:20
boards
39:21
with
39:21
my
39:21
fastening
39:22
system
39:23
so
39:23
that
39:23
water
39:23
doesn't
39:23
pool
39:24
up.
39:24
Because
39:24
what
39:24
happens
39:25
at
39:25
my
39:25
house
39:25
is
39:25
I
39:26
get
39:26
the
39:26
organic
39:26
matter
39:26
that
39:27
comes
39:27
down
39:27
out
39:27
of
39:27
the
39:27
trees,
39:28
whether
39:28
it's
39:29
pollen
39:29
that
39:29
turns
39:30
to
39:30
a
39:30
mud
39:30
like
39:30
surface
39:31
to
39:32
needles,
39:32
to
39:33
everything
39:33
else
39:34
that
39:34
can
39:34
plug
39:35
up
39:35
those
39:35
areas
39:36
between
39:36
the
39:36
deck,
39:37
between
39:37
those
39:37
deck
39:38
boards
39:38
and
39:38
you
39:39
got
39:39
a
39:39
problem.
39:40
So
39:40
then
39:40
you're
39:40
out
39:40
there
39:41
with
39:41
a
39:41
light
39:41
duty
39:42
pressure
39:42
washer
39:42
or
39:42
hose
39:43
trying
39:43
to
39:44
get
39:44
that
39:44
stuff
39:44
that's
39:45
plugged
39:45
up
39:45
between
39:45
there.
39:45
Because
39:46
you
39:47
also
39:47
want
39:47
to
39:47
take
39:47
a
39:48
look
39:48
at
39:48
when
39:48
you're
39:48
building
39:48
the
39:48
deck,
39:48
do
39:49
you
39:49
want
39:49
to
39:49
put
39:49
a
39:49
slight
39:49
slope
39:50
to
39:50
that?
39:50
So
39:50
if
39:50
you
39:51
do
39:51
have
39:51
snow
39:51
or
39:51
water
39:53
build
39:53
up
39:53
their
39:53
ice
39:54
that
39:54
will
39:54
actually
39:54
drain
39:55
away
39:55
from
39:55
the
39:55
house.
39:56
Little
39:57
bit
39:57
of
39:57
a
39:57
slope
39:58
just
39:58
to
39:58
send
39:59
the
39:59
water
39:59
the
40:00
other
40:00
way
40:00
isn't
40:00
a
40:01
bad
40:01
idea.
40:02
I'm
40:02
not
40:03
talking
40:03
to
40:03
put
40:03
a
40:04
bunch,
40:04
but
40:04
if
40:04
you
40:04
go
40:05
just
40:05
a
40:06
little
40:06
bit,
40:07
just
40:07
a
40:07
hair,
40:07
if
40:08
you
40:08
just
40:08
slope
40:09
it
40:09
slightly
40:09
away,
40:10
you
40:11
might
40:11
be
40:11
better
40:11
off.
40:12
Of
40:12
course,
40:12
when
40:12
you're
40:13
building
40:13
that
40:13
overhead
40:13
patio
40:14
cover,
40:14
you
40:15
have
40:15
high
40:15
winds,
40:15
do
40:15
you
40:15
have
40:16
tornadoes?
40:16
Do
40:16
you
40:16
have
40:16
hurricanes?
40:17
What
40:17
do
40:18
you
40:18
need
40:18
to
40:18
do
40:18
to
40:18
build
40:19
that
40:19
to
40:19
hold
40:19
up
40:19
to
40:20
mother
40:20
nature's
40:21
worst
40:21
for
40:21
your
40:21
area?
40:22
And
40:22
how
40:23
are
40:23
you
40:23
going
40:23
to
40:23
maintain
40:23
it?
40:24
Are
40:24
you
40:24
putting
40:24
a
40:24
gutter
40:25
system
40:25
on
40:25
that
40:26
that
40:26
needs
40:26
to
40:26
be
40:26
cleaned
40:27
out?
40:27
Are
40:27
you
40:28
going
40:28
to
40:28
be
40:28
trapping
40:28
smoke?
40:29
Do
40:29
you
40:29
have
40:29
a
40:29
ventilation
40:30
hood
40:30
in
40:30
there?
40:31
If
40:32
you're,
40:32
if
40:32
you've
40:32
got
40:32
a
40:33
barbecue
40:33
and
40:33
you've
40:34
got
40:34
A
40:34
wood
40:34
surface
40:34
up
40:35
there.
40:35
One,
40:36
it's
40:36
combustible.
40:36
Two,
40:37
it's
40:37
going
40:37
to
40:37
get
40:37
greasy
40:38
because
40:39
we're
40:39
all
40:39
barbecue
40:39
and
40:40
greasy
40:40
stuff
40:40
out
40:40
there
40:41
most
40:41
of
40:41
the
40:41
time.
40:42
There's
40:42
some
40:43
oils
40:43
in
40:43
there,
40:43
even
40:43
in
40:44
vegetables
40:44
and
40:44
stuff.
40:44
We
40:45
were
40:45
cooking.
40:46
Can
40:46
get
40:46
up
40:46
there
40:46
and
40:46
get
40:47
that.
40:47
So
40:47
what
40:47
do
40:47
you
40:48
need
40:48
to
40:48
do
40:48
for
40:48
maintenance?
40:49
Think
40:49
about
40:50
the
40:50
furniture
40:50
you're
40:50
getting.
40:51
I
40:51
like,
40:51
like
40:52
the
40:52
sunbrella
40:52
type
40:53
of
40:53
fabrics
40:54
on
40:54
there
40:54
that
40:54
are
40:54
meant
40:55
for
40:55
boats
40:55
and
40:55
things
40:55
like
40:55
that
40:56
that'll
40:56
take
40:56
it.
40:57
And
40:57
then
40:57
what's
40:58
going
40:58
on,
40:59
maintenance
40:59
wise,
41:00
if
41:00
you
41:00
do
41:01
a
41:01
metal
41:01
roof
41:01
up
41:01
there
41:02
and
41:02
if
41:02
you've
41:02
got
41:02
trees
41:03
that
41:03
drip
41:03
SAP,
41:04
things
41:04
like
41:04
that,
41:04
that
41:04
can
41:05
look
41:05
not
41:05
so
41:05
great.
41:06
What
41:06
are
41:06
you
41:06
doing
41:06
for
41:06
the
41:07
roofing
41:07
surface?
41:08
What
41:08
can
41:08
you
41:09
do?
41:09
There
41:09
are
41:09
so
41:09
many
41:10
great
41:10
products
41:10
out
41:10
there.
41:11
If
41:11
you
41:11
want
41:11
to
41:11
put
41:11
a
41:11
clear
41:12
one
41:12
up
41:12
there,
41:13
if
41:13
you
41:13
do
41:13
a
41:14
big
41:14
clear
41:14
surface,
41:15
awesome.
41:16
How
41:16
are
41:16
you
41:16
going
41:16
to
41:16
keep
41:16
it
41:16
clean?
41:17
Do
41:17
you
41:17
have
41:17
access?
41:18
Build
41:18
in
41:18
access.
41:19
You
41:19
can
41:19
get
41:19
up
41:19
there
41:20
and
41:20
clean
41:20
that.
41:21
Because
41:21
if
41:21
you're
41:21
putting
41:22
in
41:22
a
41:22
clean,
41:23
clear,
41:24
crystal
41:25
clear
41:26
acrylic
41:26
panel
41:27
system,
41:27
how
41:27
are
41:28
you
41:28
going
41:28
to
41:28
keep
41:28
it
41:28
clean?
41:28
Because
41:29
it's
41:29
like
41:29
a
41:29
window.
41:30
The
41:30
dirt,
41:30
the
41:31
pollen,
41:31
stuff
41:32
from
41:32
the
41:32
trees
41:32
all
41:33
will
41:33
build
41:33
up
41:33
on
41:33
it.
41:34
You're
41:34
going
41:34
to
41:34
need
41:34
to
41:34
get
41:35
up
41:35
there
41:35
with
41:35
a
41:35
soft
41:35
brush
41:35
on
41:36
a
41:36
pole.
41:36
Do
41:37
you
41:37
have
41:37
a
41:37
way
41:37
to
41:37
do
41:37
that?
41:38
Have
41:38
you
41:38
designed
41:38
that
41:38
into
41:39
the
41:39
structure
41:39
to
41:39
make
41:39
it
41:40
work?
41:40
These
41:41
are
41:41
all
41:41
things
41:41
that
41:42
I
41:42
want
41:42
you
41:42
to
41:42
think
41:42
about.
41:43
Do
41:43
you
41:43
need
41:44
to
41:44
have
41:44
access
41:44
underneath
41:46
the
41:46
deck
41:46
for
41:47
plumbing
41:47
to
41:48
work
41:48
on
41:48
something?
41:49
Do
41:49
you
41:49
need
41:49
to
41:49
have
41:50
it
41:50
for
41:50
the
41:50
electrical?
41:51
What's
41:52
going
41:52
on
41:52
there?
41:53
So
41:53
thinking
41:54
about
41:54
all
41:54
those
41:54
different
41:55
things
41:55
can
41:55
really
41:56
change
41:56
how
41:57
you
41:57
design
41:57
and
41:58
build
41:58
it.
41:58
It's
41:59
just
41:59
like
41:59
when
41:59
you're
41:59
putting
42:00
in
42:00
a
42:00
building,
42:00
an
42:00
outdoor
42:01
kitchen
42:01
where
42:02
you've
42:02
got
42:02
natural
42:02
gas
42:03
or
42:03
propane.
42:04
What
42:04
are
42:04
the
42:04
vents
42:05
that
42:05
are
42:05
required
42:06
in
42:06
that
42:06
cabin?
42:07
You
42:07
need
42:08
to
42:08
make
42:08
sure
42:08
that
42:08
you
42:08
don't
42:08
have
42:09
air
42:10
building
42:10
up
42:10
in
42:10
that
42:11
because
42:12
many
42:12
times
42:12
that
42:13
gas
42:13
can
42:13
be
42:13
heavy
42:14
or
42:14
it
42:14
can
42:14
be
42:15
lighter,
42:15
depending
42:15
on
42:15
which
42:16
gas
42:16
you're
42:16
using.
42:17
But
42:17
you
42:17
want
42:18
it
42:18
to
42:18
be
42:18
able
42:18
to
42:18
vent
42:19
out
42:19
of
42:19
there.
42:20
So
42:20
having
42:20
a
42:21
good
42:21
airspace
42:22
so
42:22
that
42:22
breeze,
42:22
you
42:23
don't
42:23
have
42:23
an
42:23
explosion
42:23
hazard.
42:24
And
42:24
of
42:25
course,
42:26
what
42:26
countertop
42:27
materials
42:27
are
42:27
you
42:27
putting
42:28
on
42:28
the
42:28
kitchen?
42:29
Is
42:29
that
42:29
something
42:29
you're
42:30
gonna
42:30
have
42:30
to
42:30
keep
42:30
clean?
42:30
Is
42:31
that
42:31
something
42:31
that's
42:31
going
42:32
to
42:32
be.
42:32
Stainless
42:33
steel
42:33
countertops
42:34
you
42:34
see
42:34
are
42:34
a
42:34
big
42:34
hot
42:35
item
42:35
out
42:35
there.
42:36
But
42:36
if
42:36
you've
42:36
got
42:37
full
42:37
sun,
42:37
heck,
42:37
you
42:38
could
42:38
cook
42:38
eggs
42:38
on
42:38
those
42:39
things
42:39
on
42:39
a
42:39
hot
42:39
summer
42:40
day.
42:41
So
42:41
I
42:41
want
42:41
you
42:41
to
42:41
Think
42:42
about
42:42
those
42:42
different
42:43
things
42:43
and
42:44
how
42:44
they're
42:44
going
42:44
to
42:44
react
42:44
to
42:45
Mother
42:45
Nature,
42:46
how
42:46
they're
42:46
going
42:46
to
42:46
react
42:47
to
42:47
grease.
42:48
Used
42:48
to
42:48
see
42:48
that
42:49
with
42:49
the
42:49
old
42:49
first
42:50
generation
42:50
Trex
42:51
products,
42:52
you
42:52
can
42:52
see
42:52
where
42:52
the
42:52
barbecue
42:53
was
42:53
because
42:53
you're
42:53
dripping
42:54
grease
42:54
right
42:54
there
42:55
and
42:55
it
42:55
soaked
42:56
in,
42:56
it
42:56
looked
42:56
horrible.
42:57
Then
42:57
they
42:57
went
42:57
to
42:58
vinyls.
42:58
Wasn't
42:59
a
42:59
problem.
42:59
But
43:00
anytime
43:00
that
43:00
they
43:00
had
43:01
that
43:01
natural
43:01
wood
43:02
in
43:02
there,
43:03
that
43:03
could
43:03
be
43:04
an
43:04
issue.
43:05
So
43:05
thinking
43:05
about
43:05
the
43:06
maintenance,
43:06
thinking
43:06
about
43:06
how
43:07
you're
43:07
gonna
43:07
take
43:07
care
43:07
of
43:07
things.
43:08
Okay,
43:09
great.
43:09
I've
43:09
got
43:09
my
43:10
hot
43:10
tub
43:10
up
43:10
there.
43:11
Awesome.
43:11
Do
43:12
I
43:12
have
43:12
a
43:12
hose
43:12
nearby
43:13
to
43:14
clean
43:14
this
43:14
off?
43:15
Do
43:15
you
43:15
need
43:15
a
43:15
hose
43:16
bib
43:16
there?
43:17
What's
43:17
even
43:17
better,
43:18
take
43:18
a
43:18
look
43:18
at
43:18
prior
43:19
products.
43:19
They
43:19
have
43:19
hose
43:20
bibs
43:20
that
43:20
you
43:20
can
43:20
have
43:21
hot
43:21
and
43:21
cold
43:22
for
43:22
cleaning
43:23
grease
43:23
and
43:23
around
43:23
the
43:23
barbecue,
43:24
hitting
43:25
the
43:25
deck
43:25
with
43:25
hot
43:26
water
43:26
instead
43:26
of
43:27
in
43:27
soapy
43:27
water
43:27
instead
43:28
of
43:28
cold
43:28
water.
43:29
Tell
43:29
you
43:29
what,
43:29
that's
43:29
a
43:29
game
43:30
changer.
43:31
Definitely
43:31
something
43:32
I'd
43:32
be
43:32
looking
43:32
for
43:32
an
43:33
outdoor
43:33
living
43:33
space
43:33
for
43:33
cleaning
43:34
up.
43:34
Cost
43:35
you
43:35
a
43:35
little
43:35
more
43:35
money
43:35
to
43:36
run
43:36
hot
43:36
water,
43:37
but
43:37
it'll
43:37
get
43:38
the
43:38
job
43:38
done
43:38
quicker
43:38
and
43:39
times
43:39
money.
43:39
So
43:40
think
43:40
about
43:40
those
43:41
little
43:41
added
43:41
spaces.
43:42
What
43:42
do
43:42
you
43:42
do
43:42
for
43:42
heat?
43:42
Are
43:42
you
43:43
going
43:43
to
43:43
do
43:43
ceiling
43:44
heaters
43:44
that
43:44
are
43:44
electric
43:45
that
43:45
you
43:45
need
43:45
to
43:45
run
43:46
stuff
43:46
in?
43:47
Need
43:47
electrical
43:47
for?
43:48
Do
43:48
you
43:48
need
43:48
that?
43:49
So
43:50
create
43:50
the
43:50
dream
43:51
space.
43:51
Put
43:52
it
43:52
all
43:52
together
43:52
and
43:53
you'll
43:53
be
43:53
good
43:53
to
43:53
go.
43:54
And
43:54
don't
43:55
forget
43:55
how
43:55
you're
43:55
going
43:56
to
43:56
take
43:56
care
43:56
of
43:56
it
43:57
and
43:57
how
43:57
durable
43:58
that's
43:58
going
43:58
to
43:58
be
43:59
to
43:59
hold
43:59
up.
44:00
That
44:00
way
44:00
you've
44:01
got
44:01
a
44:01
great
44:01
project.
44:02
And
44:02
in
44:02
a
44:02
year
44:02
or
44:03
two,
44:03
if
44:03
you're
44:03
knocking
44:03
out
44:03
yourself,
44:04
you
44:04
got
44:04
something,
44:05
your
44:05
friends
44:05
are
44:05
come
44:06
over
44:06
and
44:06
they're
44:06
going
44:06
to
44:07
want
44:07
to
44:07
hang
44:07
out
44:07
all
44:08
season
44:09
long.
44:09
All
44:10
right,
44:10
everybody,
44:10
that
44:10
wraps
44:11
up
44:11
my
44:11

44:12

44:12
tricks
44:12

44:17
got
44:17
a
44:17

44:18
